With more than two decades of academic research experience, Michele A. Basso holds responsibilities as Professor of Psychiatry at the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior at University of California, Los Angeles. She and her team focus on the ways in which the brain turns visual stimuli into actions, and how these can malfunction when dystonia or Parkinson’s disease occur. Michele A. Basso also leads the Fuster Laboratory in Cognitive Neuroscience as Director. In this position, she seeks to understand the cellular mechanisms of neuronal circuits, and their relation to human behavior.
