For more than 15 years, Semsettin Gogebakan has served as a water locator for Howard County in Columbia, Maryland. In this role, Semsettin Gogebakan locates the county’s underground water lines and sewer lines and ensures that contractors do not disrupt or damage these existing pipes or interrupt the services they provide. In recognition of his work, the director of the Department of Public Works presented him with the customer service team award in 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2006. In 2008, Howard County Fire and Rescue awarded him a Confined Space for Industry Certificate, and the Bureau of Utilities chief presented him with a certificate for successful job completion in 2015.
