Cafe Monte Bianco
Café Monte Bianco
To analyze this case, the analyst conducted liquidity, solvency and profitability ratios for Cafés Monte
Bianco along with sales and income projections for operating the business under both private label and
premium brands. The analyst has found that the firm utilizes high leverage to achieve ROE. Further, it
is the opinion of the analyst that the firm should abandon private label brands and market its own
premium brand; thereby leveraging its industry reputation as a fine purveyor of coffees.
Cafés Monte Bianco Liquidity Analysis: The current ratio is 0.57 and the quick ratio is 0.41. This is
due to higher liabilities and is an indicator of poor liquidity. The Inventory turnover ratio is a healthy

Since an ROE of 21.48% equals the product of 4.41% and 4.87 (ROA and Equity Multiplier), it
indicates that the firm is able to achieve such high ROE only through a high financial leverage.
Strategic Action for Cafes Monte Bianco: Assuming that they will be able to sell all produced
capacity, with 0% advertising, and with a 6,000,000 kg annual capacity [Exhibit 2 in case], CMB
should be able to generate revenues of 178,322,200,000 liras (Scenario 2). With resulting COGS of
114,954,330,000 liras and other expenses, they should still be able to generate a Net Income of
28,732,818,000 liras. Alternatively, if the company spent the equivalent of 10% of sales on
advertising, revenues will increase to 215.62 billion lira, and net profit to 25 billion lira. So the
company may be better off not advertising, at 0% (Scenario 3).
Pursuing Dino s Production Plan for only Private Brand (Scenario 1) will result in annual revenues of
just 52.8 billion liras, COGS of 42.91 billion liras and even with reduced advertising and selling
expenses, a resulting net loss of 1,138,659,000 liras, before taxes. This is clearly not a viable strategy.
Since the firm utilized only 39.13% of installed plant capacity in year 2000, they clearly need to
increase revenues and profit margins by pursuing their own premium brand, instead of pursuing
private label brands with higher volumes, but much lower profit margins, and an

A Report On Flight Training
Abstract
Flight Training Devices or commonly known as simulators, are frequently used in military aviator
training and is an important training tool for safely teaching flying skills in a controlled environment
that is normally too dangerous, or costly to acquire through the use of an actual aircraft. The U.S. Air
Force and Army typically use simulators to safely train new Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV)
operators on critical tasks performed for proficiency and certification without the use of costly flyable
aviation resources. Research has discovered there is a lack of conventional standardized training for
any of the armed services, but an inter service roadmap is planned for combining future training
programs. The researcher will analyze multiple military and civilian aeronautical based articles on the
subjects of simulator use for operator training including Army and Air Force future requirements for
UAVs, and applicable Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations. Findings will be clear
regarding the need for cost saving initiatives and standardized UAV training, including the
implications of new FAA regulations. Research will also delve into the fact that inconsistent operator
training is a problem for incorporating different types of Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) into the
National Airspace (NAS). It is also determined that future military training will be affected by FAA
research and findings on this subject. Finally, the results will reveal the need for

Analyse Interpersonal Communication
Communication is a vital part of having a successful workplace. More often than not, problems in the
workplace are caused by miscommunication, or a lack of communication. The most common form of
communication used in the workplace, especially a small family business, is interpersonal
communication. But what is interpersonal communication? Communication, as defined by the
Australian concise oxford dictionary, 6th edition, is The act of imparting, esp. news (p. 280). While
interpersonal is defined as Occurring between persons, esp. reciprocally (p. 738). Therefore,
interpersonal communication can be used to describe the way we communicate in small groups. To

In her TEDx talk, 10 ways to have a better conversation, Celeste Headlee (2015), says that the most
important part of a conversation is being able to listen. If you cannot listen, there is no way for you to
understand what the other person is trying to convey with their words. In a small family business,
listening is an essential skill for every member of the team to have. Unlike a big company, such as
McDonalds, in a family business everyone has the same level of seniority. There are no clear roles,
this means that interpersonal communication, listening in particular, is an even more important
consideration in a small family business. If the family and their employees cannot communicate well
there would not a business to manage for much longer. A family business, especially one just hanging
on, could potentially go out of business... Another rule that Headlee (2015) says will lead to a better
conversation is if you do not know, say that you do not know. Recently, I was training a new
employee, instead of asking for help, this person would just assume things. It took my co workers and
myself a while to realise that she was putting things away in incorrect spots and telling customers

The Memelon
Nature Morte, essentially still life, refers to the portrayal of inanimate objects within images. One
Artist, recognized for his iconic impressionistic still life work, is Edouard Manet (1832 1883). Manet
is revered for being a key instigator in the transition from realism to impressionism; his still life
impressionism works were amongst those considered the genesis of the impressionist movement in the
late 19th Century. Manet was raised in Paris, to affluent family. Upon failure to make it into the Navy,
Manet began to find his love for art and painting. Manet s work The Melon (c.1880), a still life
painting of a single watermelon, encapsulates this historical movement of still life paintings.
Manet s titular work The Melon s solitary subject matter is a watermelon. The composition of this
painting is simple, a trait of Manet s which developed along side his journey into impressionism.
Despite being a journey that was heavily criticized, it is the style and nuance of Manet s melon, which
sets it apart from traditional still life images. The melon is isolated. It s placed on an innocuous beige
support, against a solid black background. However it is through the use of this space around the
Melon that Manet is able to utilize the light, which floods the left side of the melon, to create a very
soft, fragile, beautiful painting. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is this bold style, which, at the time, viewers found jarring and unnatural, that attracts modern day
viewers to Manet s work. The sudden transitions between the colors within the melon, dictated by the
soft light source, complement the bold textures. It is this transition of color that gives the object its
clear 3D shape. Every brushstroke operated individually, drawing attention to the shape and texture of

Understanding Latin America s International and Economic...
Prior to analyzing the ISI (Import Substitution Industrialization) model, it s benefits as well as its
shortcomings, a small introduction of how it came to be and why must be provided. As a product of
the 1930s economic crisis and wear and tear of the liberal model, ISI appears in Latin America as
another economic option, proposed by ECLA (Economic Commission for Latin America, dependent
of the UN) as a means of bringing Latin America out of stagnation and work towards industrialization
to eliminate its dependency on agriculture which was seen as vulnerable.
There are two critical ways in which this model must be examined, theoretically as well as its concrete
outcomes and policy implications within Latin American states. By looking at ... Show more content

Therefore, it was believed that Latin America instead of following outward looking development path
should instead pursue an ISI policy as the centre piece for a new inward directed development strategy
(Kay 5), following the beginning footsteps of the developed states.
Although its main goal was to strengthen the national economy to better compete in the global market,
ISI has had very controversial results. Positively speaking, it has resulted in a decrease in imports,
which has favoured certain national industries such as electric materials for construction, textiles,
chemicals, etc., the nationalization of natural resources, betterment of term of trade, state intervention
in economics (which led to the development of education, health and employment), strengthening of
social organizations, but most importantly, the consolidation of the middle class. On a negative note,
these nations led to become greatly dependent on technology, there was an increase of external capital
control over developed areas, an under qualified labour force for factory jobs, increase in prices of
manufactured goods and inflation, migration from rural to urban areas and as a result an increase in
social problems, and finally, the industrial sector did not bother to conquer external markets which
essentially contradicted the whole purpose of ISI. For these reasons ISI was seen as a

Essay on Mental Health Counseling
Mental health counselors work with individuals, families, and groups to address and treat mental and
emotional disorders and to promote mental health. They are trained to address a wide range of issues,
including depression, addiction and substance abuse, suicidal impulses, stress management, problems
with self esteem, issues associated with aging, job and career concerns, educational decisions, issues
related to mental and emotional health, and family, parenting, and marital or other relationship
problems. Mental health counselors often work closely with other mental health specialists, such as

may include hospitals, drug treatment centers, educational center, community organizations, state
agencies, and in private practice. One of the issues in the future is the tightening HMO policies. HMO

to my attention was the timeliness in which Medicaid pays. Medicaid has been known to be two to
three months behind in paying claims.
In my research or the counseling profession, it was stress to me that given the drawbacks, counseling
was a very worthy and rewarding. The problems can be easily dealt with and planned for. It is
important that one have a balanced life outside of their career. A balance life helps prevent compassion

Rhetorical Analysis Thoreau
Questions on Rhetoric and Style:
1. Describe the tone Thoreau establishes in paragraph 2. How does it contribute to the rhetorical effect
of the paragraph? In paragraph two, Thoreau uses a depressing, problematic and facetious tone to get
his message across. Thoreau explains how he is strongly against the United States government, and
also points out problems of the government. Thoreau uses depressing diction when describing the
problems of the government in order to make people feel hatred toward the government and realize
how problematic it actually is. Thoreau uses Power of Three to exemplify the problems of the
government, and further connects with the audience on an emotional level by pointing out how the
citizens help lead to the countries problematic state. Thoreau s use of inappropriate humor when he
explains trade makes the United States government seem trivial and almost as a lost cause due to the
problems caused by the leaders. His relation of such a serious topic to a comical reference makes it an
easier to understand situation. The use of this specific tone creates a more impactful rhetorical effect
that is relayed in the paragraph.
3. Thoreau develops many analogies to support his arguments (e.g., in paras. 8 and 9). Select three,
and explain whether you find them convincing. How effectively does each one support the claim
Thoreau is using it to support? Thoreau s use of analogies to support his arguments are very beneficial

The Merger Between United and Continental Airline
Introduction
As I was thinking about the two companies that I wanted to do for my course project on, I began to
research companies on the internet and I ran across the merger between United and Continental
airlines. The reason that I choose to do the merger is because I knew that they were going to go
through many changes within this merger. Both airline companies have a lot to offer to each other with
this merger that they can compete with Delta airlines one of the largest airline in the world. This
merger will bring about several changes within both companies. In this paper I will be providing the
different changes between both companies with the merger including the culture, systems and unions.

have gone through an excessive amount of training for the system they are still having a hard time

an big issue as to were United was not able to print out boarding passes for their customer. They were
very quick in thinking they printed out the boarding passes manual in order to service their customer.
They also contracted their customer who had mileage plus to inform them of the issue at hand.( United

Union Changes 2
The last change is the differences in the unions. Both airlines have different unions for their
employees. United pilots are under ALFA, flight attendants are under AFA, maintenance is under IBT,
mechanics are under IBT, ramp is under IAM, dispatcher are under PAFCA, engineers are under
IFPTE, pubic contract employee are under IAM. Continental pilots are under ALFA, flight attendants
are under IAM, maintenance is under IBT, and ramp is under IBT. As you can see some of the unions
are the same for both airlines, however the pilots have reached an agreement and both under the ALFA
union. They CEO will have to work hard at getting both companies under the same unions other wise
they would not be united as one Airline

Taking a Look at Strokes
The history of stroke first started with Hippocrates, the father of medicine, who was the first to
identify stroke 2,400 years ago, during that decade stroke was known as apoplexy meaning in Greek
struck down by violence . This was due to the fact that a person developed sudden paralysis and
change in well being. This term continued until the mid 1660 s when Jacob Wepfer realized that
apoplexy is due to either bleeding within the brain or blockage inside one the brain veins. The
transformation of the term apoplexy to stroke was a major revolution in the history of stroke. Now
stroke is known as brain attack to show the urgency needed for an instant action.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has estimated that stroke caused 5.7 million deaths in 2004
which accounted for 9.7% of deaths in the world [1]. Strikingly as it might be, stroke is considered to
be the 4th leading cause of death among all causes, when considered separately from cardiovascular
diseases, on an average every 4 minutes someone dies by a stroke [2] . According to data from the
Heart Disease and Stroke Statistics reveal that 2.9% of men and 2.9% of women ≥18 years of age had
a history of stroke [3]. On the other hand, in terms of disability stroke is considered to be the leading
cause of long term disability in the united states with an impact of 36.5 billion dollars of direct and
indirect costs in 2010 [3]. According to the American Heart Association statistics from 2012 till 2030

enterprises (SME) in Malaysia. Different Agencies define SME based on their own criteria, usually
bench marking against annual sales turnover, number of full time employees or shareholders funds. In
addition, present definitions focus mainly on SMEs in the manufacturing sector. The establishment

The Importance Of Self-Assessment In Mathematics
The results of this study have important implications for teachers. They suggest the need for
mathematics teachers to provide middle school students with relevant self assessment skills effective
for mathematics learning. The results also suggest that both low and average achievers can benefit
from the self assessment instruction and as such both achievers can explore the skills in self
assessment to enhance their mathematics achievement. Teachers of mathematics should therefore be
equipped with self assessment approach in teaching low and average mathematics achieving students.
This will help the students who have difficulties in some areas of mathematics to acquire the necessary
skills needed for successful learning of mathematics. Although self assessment increased mathematics
achievement of low and average mathematics achievers, self assessment had no effect on mathematics
achievement of high achievers. This result indicates the need for more evidence on the effect of self
assessment on mathematics achievement of high achievers and conditions lead to positive effects.
Second, the present research confirms that students subsequent learning goals to correct
misunderstandings and to extend learning is important to students success in math. This suggest that
mathematics teachers need to give students frequent opportunities to set personal goals based on their
difficulties. However, it is not enough that the teacher asks students to set goals, but there should be a

Four Different Market Structures
Four Market Structures

Kunsoo Choi
What are the four market structures and their characteristics? According to McConnell and Brue
(2004) describe four market structures that companies align themselves with during the course of their
corporate lives.: Pure Competition, Pure Monopoly, Monopolistic Competition and Oligopoly.
Companies may move from market structure to market structure over the course of growth and time.
This movement between structures may be the result of product changes, introduction of competition
or consumer interests. McConnell and Brue (2004) also states that, pure competition is a very large

Many companies provide multiple services with products that are differentiated through location.
Companies like GEICO use the gecko for easy association with its brand name. The insurance arena
has easy market entry and exit and some price control. To maximize profit, insurance firms must
juggle three components of monopolistic competition; price, product, and advertising. In specific
reference to automobile liability insurance pricing systems, the risk factors that derive price include
insurer risk, regulation, geographical region, and investment returns. The rates are comprised of fixed
and variable costs. Fixed costs are relatively low because of minimal operational expenses whereas
variable costs are high because of the relatively unlimited risks. The insurance firm is pricing for the
long run equilibrium output so that price exceeds the minimum average costs for a normal return.
An oligopoly is a market structure in which a few firms sell either a standardized or differentiated
product into which entry is difficult in which the firm has limited control over product price because
of mutual interdependence (except when there is collusion among firms) and in which there is
typically non price competition (McConnell and Brue, 2004). As the formation of trusts was restricted
in the United States, the oligopoly became the most frequent big business structure. With four or five
large firms responsible for most of the output of each

condition that is a great health interest in America (Hopkins Medicine). The number of people being
diagnosed with bipolar disorder increases every year; therefore, the importance of education and
understanding of this disorder also increases because it can affect so many people s lives. According to

On the other end of the spectrum, symptoms of depression consist of mood changes with periods of
emptiness or worry, and loss of interest in enjoyable activities. Behavioral changes for people
suffering from depression include feeling tired, being irritable, unable to focus or make decisions,
changes in sleeping or eating, and thinking of death or suicide. People with severe periods of mania or
depression may also experience hallucinations or delusions (National Institute of Mental Health).
Patty Duke is an actress with bipolar disorder. Describing a hallucination she said, The voice [on the

from paranoia. (Torrey and Knable). There are different kinds of bipolar disorder that all include
periods of depression and mania. The different types are bipolar I, bipolar II, cyclothymic disorder,
mixed bipolar, and rapid cycling bipolar disorder. Bipolar I is when a person has at least one manic

The Bilateral Relations Between Malaysia And China
Malaysia is recognized as one of the Southeast Asia countries that have undergone economic
prosperity. Therefore in this essay, I will argue on two major factors that have promoted the economic
development in Malaysia which are the bilateral trade relations with China and the regional stability in
Southeast Asia. In the first section of this essay, I will provide a brief overview of Malaysia s
economic development trajectory in the early post independence period. Next, in the first part of the
second section, I will highlight on the bilateral trade relations between Malaysia and China as the
main factor for Malaysia s economic expansion. Following the second part, I will emphasize on the
importance of regional stability in Southeast Asia in facilitating Malaysia s economic growth. Lastly,

Compared to other Southeast Asia countries, Malaysia had begun its self government at a good pace

had implemented the Import Substitution Industrialization (ISI) strategy to stimulate the economic
growth and socio economic modernization. It encouraged states to become less dependent on

Garden State by Pipsorcle
Andrew Largeman s (Zack Braff) journey throughout quot;Garden State quot; seems to be a testament
on the meaning of liberation. Going from his struggling acting life in Los Angeles to his hometown in
New Jersey, where he witnesses his mother s funeral, Andrew is in the mist of confronting difficult
issues. One of the biggest issues is coming to terms with his psychologist father (Ian Holm), whom he
has distanced himself from for many years because he has put him on powerful antidepressants for

his motivation and instead works as a grave digger.
The center point of this film is when Andrew meets Sam (Natalie Portman), a free spirited girl who

the two s relationship grows in the film is more focused on their conversations and adventures than

The Importance Of Development In Cuba
I believe development is a certain process of improving the fundamental living conditions, economy,
and other demographic components in a country. To be considered developed; a country needs to be a
sovereign state in my opinion. Cuba is not considered a sovereign state, as they are not economically
developed. Moreover, to also be considered developed; a country needs to provide a certain standard
of human development for its citizens. This should include health benefits, nutrition, education, and
most importantly a clean environment for all citizens. Unfortunately, Cuba does not provide good
sources of human development for all citizens. Also, I believe having a solid infrastructure and
improving urbanization is an important factor for a country to be considered developed. As we learned
in lecture on November 9th, GDP is the most important measurement and criterion to observe if a
country is developed. Countries with higher GDP per capita are considered developed. The lower the
GDP, clearly the less developed the country would be. Another criterion to be considered is the
industrialization of the country. The Human Development index (HDI) could also be considered a
good measurement. As we learned, the index combines the income for the country with other
measures including life expectancy and education. Consequently, countries with a high HDI rating
should be considered developed. Furthermore, the GINI index can also prove if a country is
developed. According to Patrick

Evidence-Based Practice in Nursing
Nursing Evidence Based Practice
Findings of evidenced based practice have to be disseminated to ensure that innovations for practice
are replicated or applied in other settings by stakeholders in the health fraternity and healthcare
professionals (Forsyth, Wright, Scherb Gaspar, 2010). One of the objectives of dissemination should
be to improve the practice. Dissemination of evidenced based practice findings in nursing is very
critical in knowledge synthesis, translation, and translation. It is imperative in strengthening
healthcare, informing policy, and improving practice decisions based on clinical evidence (Rycroft
Malone Bucknall, 2010). This is realized by transforming clinical changes into practice. It actually
involves two stage processes namely: translation of evidence into practice and integration of research
recommendations into actual practice. Effective dissemination of evidence based practice findings
enable staff to share information about developments in healthcare practice and implement innovation
(Freemantle Watt, 1994).
Dissemination enables healthcare professionals to make decisions based on the quality of information
they receive on effectiveness and cost effectiveness of a proposed healthcare intervention.
Dissemination of evidenced based research findings using any medium enables health facility staff
members to access research findings and critique the findings (Bradley, McSherry McSherry, 2010).

What Was The Influence Of Roman Law
Many nations in the world have not made as many original contributions to the world and modern
society as much as the Romans have. Many aspects of today s society can be perceived to have been
affected through the many influences by ancient Rome. Roman architecture, art, religion, agriculture,
and many more are all areas where influences of Roman concepts can be noted. However, an
important area of influence by ancient Rome was Roman law. Roman law has been well adapted to
other regions of the world, far beyond that of where its Roman creators had used it. The term in which
we say Roman Law has formed an important and consistent existence today. It is the common

How Does American Apparel Portray Women
In advertising, companies tend to use images in which they believe will help to promote and sell their
product. One of the most common techniques that is seen in today s society is the stereotypical
portrayal of women, who tend to pose rather promiscuously as seen in Figure One. These types of
images portray women as sex objects or as submissive housewives to their husbands. This comes into
context with the advertising in which American Apparel portrays.

The Impact of Economic Meltdown on the Nigeria Banking...
ABSTRACT
This study tends to unravel the effects of economic meltdown on employee productivity in the
Nigerian banking system using the August 14, 2009 CBN intervention into commercial banks (as a
result of the meltdown originating from unsecured credits and poor bank management in the Nigerian
commercial banking system) as a benchmark to analyze the effects. Data was collected from journals,
interviews and direct data from specific units of the bank. The appraisal of the staff of Intercontinental
Bank was used to assess performance under the first hypothesis. The second hypothesis tends to seek
the staff opinion on effects of policy changes in the system and their performance. The study suggests
that the economy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this research work, the impact of the economic meltdown and recent banking reforms in
Intercontinental Bank Plc has been critically analyzed and its impact on employee performance will be
identified and ways to ensuring a positive productive effect will be discussed.
2.2 STATEMENT OF PROBLEM
There has been a number of banking reforms in Nigeria with varying attendant effects. However, the
effect of the current reform originating from the conspicuous effect of the economic meltdown has
become of great concern. While the reform of 2004 cannot be exonerated from its attendant casualties
of job loss among others, the current reforms seems to have raised some dust. Following the financial
stringencies in the economy and the role of banks in a depressed economy, the CBN governor, Mallam
Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, on August 14, 2009 relieved some banks CEOs of their duties for wrong
exercise of executive responsibility.
As the unexpected turn in financial market prevails, forecasting economic changes is growing more
difficult, employees which are the success tools of any organization are in no small way impaired in
their level of productivity. For most bank employees in Nigeria today, the economic crisis has led to a
wave of financial anxiety. Most bankers start to ask themselves questions like, What if I lose my job,
will I be able to cater for my family and other needs?
The economic meltdown has put to threat job security and an enhanced sustainable juicy

A Woman Embroidering A Dragon Analysis
Katsushika Hokusai lived from 1760 to 1849. During his lifetime, Hokusai trained many artists.
Unlike most masters, Hokusai preferred to tutor them for only a few years so they could be
independent. As a result, his students produced a variety of subjects. Hokusai, however, did introduce
his students to the idea of painting under a patron to create a surimono. In particular, his students
Ryuryukyo Shinsai and Teisai Hokuba operated under this principle of patronage. One can observe the
theme of patronage in these two individuals through their subjects of New Year festivals and styles
that pay homage to Hokusai. Patronage was an essential aspect to the life of a painter. While some
artists could sell their works commercially on the market, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

be on an exaggerated diagonal line. While his students include less people in their prints, the people
are grouped similarly to Hokusai s creating analogous angles. All three artists utilize the same colors
as well in their prints: yellow, blue, green, brown, black, and reds. The fabrics on the individuals also
have unique patterns on different layers to create a rich image. While Shinsai s refreshment print does
not include people, it does follow a comparable model of Hokusai. Unlike people, Hokusai gives more
depth to objects in his print. This technique is used in order to demonstrate space in an image. Shinsai
applies this understanding in his still life print, as he shows the different angles to his objects.
However, unlike Hokusai, Shinsai did not include a background to his objects, and instead they seem
to float in space on the paper. In becoming independent artists, Shinsai and Hokuba used their
knowledge of Hokusai s painting style, and applied it to fit their own

How Has Life Changed Since 1800 Essay
How has life changed since 1800?
Life as we know it today in the modern world, is significantly different to the lives that our
predecessors lived during the period 1500 1800. The changes across the centuries are the result of a
process of advancements over time. This essay will examine life in the period 1500 1800 as
highlighted in the work of George Blainey (2000) and will compare key differences of life in this early
period, against life in the modern world today. Throughout this essay, the main focus will be based on
three areas which have seen significant change over this period of time: the production of food, work
practices and the standard of living. The advancements in these three areas, has led to societies living

409). While these workers could be sure of not going hungry, this meant the take home wages were
low.
Living standards as described by Blainey (2000) were bleak. Most people lived in one roomed, small
stone houses, often with four or more sharing one bed. Homes often remained unheated due to scarcity
of wood (Blainey 2000, p. 423). People were largely uneducated and knew little about healthcare.
Sewerage was disposed of in the same rivers that were used to drink and wash from. These
contaminated rivers were used to supply water to the growing crops. This had a huge impact on health,
causing infection in around two out of every three people in rural areas (Blainey 2000, p. 415). Lack
of hygiene and knowledge of healthcare led to shorter lifespans.
Life today in 2014 is vastly different to the period 1500 1800 as described by Blainey (2000). Survival
no longer hinges on hunting and gathering food. In fact many people today give little or no thought to
food production. Instead, we drive to a supermarket and buy whatever we want to eat. We have access
to many restaurants and fast food outlets, so we not only have ample food at our fingertips, we don t
even have to prepare it if we choose not to. Advancements in production and using machines in place
of humans (Henslin, Possamai and Possamai Inesedy 2011, p. 139) mean food is now farmed and

Some people, especially the religious, clung more fiercely to their beliefs. The Church was the one
thing that would not pass away or fall to shambles. Humans are wont to cling to a constant in times of

While the Black Death had many adverse effects, there were good ones too. Since there were fewer
peasants to work, they could demand higher wages, they could even move up classes. The serf system
was collapsing from all the deaths. Nobody could stop serfs from up and leaving. As independence
spread, so did law breaking. People would enter the dead s homes and steal or stay in the house.
Criminals would rape, steal, and kill on the streets and nobody would stop them. These felons would
justify their actions by claiming it was the end of the world or that nobody cared.
There were very little respect for the dead. The few left to bury the dead dumped the bodies in mass
graves, in the rivers, and burned them in great piles. Proper burial rites could not be done for hundreds
at a time. Most graves were more like lasagnas since people and dirt were just layered. Rivers were
clogged with the dead and there were huge piles of ashes. What was the point in burying each body

We Should Invest Our Tax Dollars Essay
INTRODUCTION
I grew up in South Akron, and graduated from Garfield High school. This high school has meant a lot
to the community and the students that attended it. This is not just a building, but an institution that
has turned out a lot of great minds and professional athletes. Losing the high school in this district
would be devastating. I feel that we should invest our tax dollars in our own city, and worry about the
future of our own child, by keeping Akron schools in the community of Akron.
Purpose
Garfield high along with Kenmore High school have been slotted to be torn down. There are no dates
as of yet to when the projects will start. The removal of these two public two public high schools
would leave the entire southern portion of Akron and nearby Kenmore without a high school in or near
these districts.
Problem
Building the learning site in Kenmore would cause major busing problems. The city already owns the
property of Garfield High school, so why go out and spend money for property, when you have a
property already available? Some people may disagree and say Kenmore is an excellent choice
property wise, and the land is readily available. I feel that we should invest our tax dollars in our own
city, and worry about the future of our own child, by keeping Akron schools in the community of

Role Of Women In Society
The role of women in society has changed dramatically over the past few decades. Some may say the
changing of the role is a positive change, but some others may disagree. Women have changed their
lives for men and their ways of life, women have been restricted from using their own money by men,
and also women have had to deal with cleaning up everyone else s messes for years and also years to
come. In the articles and plays that were read several of these roles were demonstrated. In the article

he believes she is being a spendthrift. The way women could not spend money on their own has
changed greatly over the decades because women now have their own paying jobs. Women now do
not have to do whatever their husband or significant other tells them to do with their money. Women
in today s society do not have to have permission to spend their own money. The next role may not

because they do not have anyone to help them or their husbands still make them do it themselves. A

The Contributions Of Rosalind Franklin
Rosalind Franklin was a chemist who made a profound contribution as a result of her work with DNA.
Prior to this time, DNA was still a mystery in how impactful its purpose could be to society and the
growing age of science and technology. DNA became of importance to learn about the foundation in
relation to genetic and hereditary. Without the contribution of Franklin, todays understanding of the
DNA structure would not exist. Rosalind Franklin died before the Nobel Peace Prize was given for the
discovery of DNA. If she been alive, her receipt of the award would have been justifiable. Despite her
death, Rosalind Franklin demonstrated the knowledge and research essential for understanding
deoxyribonucleic acid and as a result should receive recognition in the form of a Nobel Peace Prize.
Rosalind Franklin s work on DNA was crucial in discovering the composition of the human body as a
whole. Her x ray photo revealed a double helix structure and she also discovered the A and B form of
DNA. She worked through the adversity of being a female in a predominately male dominated realm
and made remarkable findings that were eventually stolen. She adapted to a new lab with antiquated
technology. Before this discovery, the structure of DNA was thought to be simple. Scientist, Watson
and Crick, started with the wrong structure of DNA from a misinterpretation of notes from one of
Franklin s presentations. Unlike Watson and Crick, Rosalind Franklin could explain DNA and how it
worked.

Francisco Goya Essay
Francisco Goya s The Third of May1808: Principles of Art Design
Great insights went into the intricate composition of Francisco Goya s painting The Third of May
1808, his painting utilizes the principles of art and design which displays all six principles: unity and
variety; emphasis; balance; rhythm and movement; perspective; and proportion and scale. All six
principles could also be identified and critically analyzed within his painting The Third of May 1808
which ultimately resulted in a whole cohesive composition.
Goya s use of the principle of art design, unity is evident as the shapes and sizes he painted in The
Third of May 1808 are easily recognizable when looking at the prisoners and soldiers, the viewer can

the painting is first viewed.
Goya integrates the design principle balance in The Third of May 1808 when he utilizes informal
balance and is evident when he painted the soldiers and building on the right of the painting and
prisoners and hill on the left side of the painting which created a balanced visual weighted artwork

Although this act was a good idea, it was a deficient response to homelessness. Reason being the main
help by many welfare departments only applied to mothers and children. This meant that families
would most likely be split, with temporary accommodation being excluded for homeless fathers, and
single homeless people were rarely given any assistance (Robson and Poustie, 1996).
After the TV drama Cathy Come Home (1966) was released, pressure mounted for central government
intervention on homelessness and this bought along the establishment of Shelter around the same time,
which was a campaigning group for the homeless. It was recommended that primary responsibility for
the homeless should be transferred from local authority social services to housing departments, by a
number of official committees in the late 1960s and early 1970s(Robson and Poustie, 1996). However,
single individuals were not yet the focus, where on the other hand most of the priority was on families
with dependant children (Watson with Austerberry, 1986).
During the 1970 s, the 1977 Housing (Homeless Persons) Act was broad along. The main aims of this
were to clear up and strengthen local authority, meaning their duties towards the homeless in terms of
housing, and to effectively transfer all these responsibilities from local authority social services to
housing departments. Local authorities were now only obliged to give long term

The Great Plague Of London Research Paper
The Great Plague of London occurred from 1665 to 1666 and killed thousands of people while
causing harm to the English government. The plague resulted in farmers charging more money for

The Great Plague of London was a serious case of Bubonic Plague. The bacteria which caused it is
Yersinia Pestis. This disease originates from fleas, which rested on the back of rats. These rats loved
the dirty trash and stench of all London. The plague flourished in poor cities, like Westminster. The
first recording of the epidemic was in St. Giles in the Fields outside of London, and the disease soon
spread inwards to the heart of the city. Of all those affected, the suburbs and outskirts of London had

In general, oral immunization with active kisspeptin DNA vaccine plays a significant role in
suppressing GNRH secretion in the hypothalamus, GNRHR in the pituitary, and negative regulation of
the secretion of steroid hormones. Leydig cells have essential roles in the maintenance of
steroidogenesis and spermatogenesis in the testes. The failures of both processes are attributed to
Leydig cell dysfunction. In the current research, expression of testicular LH receptor and FSH
receptor mRNAs was significantly lower in the treated ram lambs (P 0.05), implying that testicular
responsiveness to LH stimulation was impaired. Indeed, active immunization against GNRH in boars

exogenous LH [Wei et al. 2011; Wei et al., 2012]. Moreover, expression of testicular LHR mRNA was
significantly decreased, which further confirmed that the functions of Leydig within testes were

rebellion of form and structure in poetry, as well as expresses his desire for literature to be visually
appealing.
Cummings was efficient with words when writing all of his poems, including l(a) , and even though it
is merely a sentence in length, its simplicity truly makes it a form of art. Comprised of only twenty
letters, it reads A leaf falls, loneliness , and it is a great example of how pieces of minimalistic
literature still have an impact on its readers, regardless of its short length. Comprised of a total of only
four words, the overall message of loneliness is still quite clear. The image of a single leaf falling is
familiar to many, aside from witnessing it in

Justice In Oresteia
In all areas where humans might concern themselves with examining the facts , views and
perspectives are guaranteed to change. Not only do the perspectives of different thinkers change with
time, the manners in which these thinkers think change as well. When Aeschylus wrote The Oresteia,
he had in mind his perspective on the story as it was written. The physiological struggles that the
characters go through are all influenced by his take on the world and of human beings themselves.
Over time, however, new methods of approaching ideas are developed. In the years after Aeschylus
there were many other philosophers who developed their own interpretations of the world and sought
to contest the older, original ideas. Socrates was one of those ... Show more content on

Some of his largest contemplative work was the assessment of ones virtues. He believed that by
default people act based on the knowledge that they have. In following knowledge, emotions will
surface and inevitably line up with the beliefs that the person has. Thus this leads to the question of
free will. Are we truly having our genuinely own feelings? Or were we predestined to act this way and
thus feel? Socrates argues that we are not predestined, that we can have self control over our emotions
and passions and thus lead us to have self control over our actions. With this in mind Socrates also
talks about having this self control, in that attaining it is based on one s knowledge/wisdom of the
source of conflict, and assessing correctly what action should be taken. In accordance with self control
Socrates is forming an argument for free will. This idea that humans are completely free to do
whatever they desire (as long as it s possible) and completely determine their own destiny is an idea
that may have seemed unacceptable to Aeschylus. Socrates might have stated that though Orestes
asked for the gods help in the matter, he was in the end, deciding for himself to kill his mother. From
Socrates s argument Orestes would only be fooling himself by letting his emotions conquer his own
knowledge and wisdom, allowing him to justify his acts through conforming to the gods.

White House Narrative
I don t know who I am or how long I ve been here. I m in a small room with metal walls, ceiling, and
floor. I can almost see a reflection on the wall. I detect some white, and some orange above it, but it s
nothing more than blurs. I am only wearing some kind of black, skin tight underwear. I reach to feel
the wall in an angered, feral state. It feels smooth. The room is empty: just three holes (two inches in
diameter) on the ceiling, and a camera on a vertex of the ceiling. The holes look about six inches in
depth. I can t form a single thought. I notice tiny, spherical holes in the veins of my antecubital space.
I am fed up being here. Suddenly, I feel my will return. I begin to realize the holes in my arm are from
a needle. I can only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
. . the man begged.
Fuck you! I said just before watching the blood splatter against the wall. I filled the house with
gasoline, lit a match, and watched the body of the man burn in hell. I took the girl s body, and escaped
the building, she deserves better than the fate of hell. She deserves to rest in peace. People need to
know what the man did to her. I killed a man because he brutally beat and raped his daughter. She
wasn t just a little girl, she was innocent. As I stand in front of the woman with a gun pointed at her
head, I realize she knew what she was doing when she shocked me. She was trying to tell me to
trigger an adrenaline rush so I could be fast enough to escape. She too was innocent. I may not
remember her, but I can t kill her. I dropped the gun, and ran out through the vault door. I took a
glance at my reflection in a window. I have Caucasian skin, red hair, and green eyes. I saw a door that
said exit on it, I opened it, and ran.

Kohlberg s Six Stages Of Moral Development
1. Goldman Sachs should have been punished for its behavior in the years leading up to the financial
crisis. Goldman ended up settling with the federal government for $110 Billion, which I do not believe
was sufficient based on the magnitude of problems created. This amount should have been much
larger, and at minimum they should have forfeited the $14 Billion paid to them by AIG. (Inside Job,
2011) In addition, AIG should have had the right to sue Goldman Sachs for fraud. It was in the public
s best interest to keep Goldman up and running, however additional penalties could have been put on a
repayment schedule to keep them solvent. Instead, you had Goldman giving out large bonuses.
Executives and those responsible for misdeeds should have been subject to significant clawbacks of
compensation. If the reason they misbehaved and took inappropriate risks was to raise compensation,
losing that compensation would be an appropriate punishment. 2. Kohlberg s six stages of moral
development can be applied to corporations. Corporations are made up of individuals, and the
corporate culture can contribute to an individual s moral decision making. Mintz tells us that an
individual s moral development can be influenced by corporate culture, especially ethics training. (p.
58) Since the corporate culture can so heavily influence individual ethical decision making, the stage
of moral development of the corporation is important. An example of Stage 2 preconventional moral

Marcom Tactics for Gatorade G2
INTRODUCTION
The US sports drinks market is highly competitive. It accounts for the highest worldwide sports drink
consumption. A sports drink is a deviation of an energy drink which aims at rehydration, sports
performance and muscle recovery. The major players in this US market are Gatorade by PepsiCo amp;
PowerAde by Coca Cola.
Gatorade
Gatorade is accepted as the market leader of US sports drink market with nearly 75% market share as
at 2008 (Sports Business Daily, 23 July 2009). The study analyses the marketing mix of Gatorade in
US market with special concentration on its Marketing Communications. It was introduced in 1965 as
a thirst quencher by four medical researchers at University of Florida. The name for the drink came

* Advertising
The advertising activities of G2 are two fold, online and offline. The objective of their advertising
strategy is to increase awareness of benefits of G2 and reinforce that idea with an aim of
differentiating the products and persuading customers towards purchase.
Offline advertising
Gatorade used Float commercials, which features sportsmen and women such as NBA s Dwayne
Wade and gymnast Chellsie Memmel. The advertising repeats Mohammed Ali s Quote Float like a
butterfly and sting like a bee which supports the brand slogan in a way that floating portrays lightness
in calories and sting like a bee portrays the ability to accurately hit performance targets. By employing
high repetitions of advertisements during sports events such as Super bowl, the most watched event in
US TV, they ensure high exposure to their brand thereby increasing awareness amp; recall of G2.
Their print advertisements such as Gatorade Double Life mainly focus on sports magazines such as
Sports Illustrated, Bounce and Dime as they carry a synergy with their target audience of Athletes,
professional or non professional.
The TV advertising benefits for G2 in terms of Clout against cost as it reaches a large number of
people which reduces cost per head. But it can also be argued that clout is low with both mediums as
they cannot be personalized. However, there is

Current Economic Conditions In The United States
Current Economic Conditions
As previously stated in the executive summary, the United States economy is currently stagnating.
From week to week we may see a rise in one indicator while there is a fall in another indicator, but
none of the rises or falls are drastic enough to have an overwhelming impact on the economy as a
whole. Although the economy is not near as strong as it was before the 2008 2009 recession, arguably
one of the biggest economic crises of the past decade, there has been much growth and strength
throughout the past few years with this year being the first year in which the economy is in somewhat
of a holding pattern. I believe, that even with the little growth and movement of the United States
economy over the past year, it is still perhaps one of the strongest economies in the world at the
moment.
The rise and fall of GDP over a specific period of time is, in many cases, the number one indicator for
how the economy is doing. Being the output of final goods and services, GDP works well with
consumer confidence and provides a good idea as to the general health of the economy. By looking at
Figure 1, we can see that GDP rose steeply after the 20008 2009 recession and has continued to
remain strong with relatively little movement since 2010. In the most recent quarters, 2014 and 2015,
GDP has declined a little, but the decline is in no way too drastic nor did it have any significant impact
on the economy. This slight decline is more like GDP

The American Civil War
The American Civil War, which occurred between 1861 and 1865, pitted the Union North against the
Confederate South. Between 1835 and 1877, there was another Civil War occurring within the United
States. The other Civil War involved pitting the rich against the poor. One of the most important
assertions Zinn makes involves these struggles: In these books, given to millions of young Americans,
there is little on class struggle in the nineteenth century. The period before and after the Civil War is
filled with politics, elections, slavery, and the race question. Even where specialized books on the
Jacksonian period deal with labor and economic issues they center on the presidency, and thus
perpetuates the traditional dependency on heroic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Next, unionization was the rise of labor unions. Workers banded together for the first time, as they felt
they were being treated unjustly. They demanded higher wages and a ten hour workday. The Lowell
Girls Movement was stressed in this chapter, as Zinn really illustrated the plight of the Lowell girls.
The Lowell system was controlled by rules and regulations, and young girls would work in the mills
and live in dormitories that were prisonlike. They had extreme work hours, waking up at four in the
morning and working until seven thirty at night, and they were fed scraps. Women began protesting
and organized a Factory Girls Association, which ended up going on strike. They held out for about a
month, but they ultimately ran out of money and were forced to return to work. The last big movement
was the Great Railroad Strike of 1877. It began with lower wages ($1.75 a day for brakemen working
12 hours), deaths and injuries among workers (loss of limbs and the crushing of men between cars),
and scheming by the railroad companies. Strikes broke out at the Baltimore Ohio station, Pittsburgh
and Pennsylvania Railroad, Harrisburg, St. Louis, and had even made the news in Europe. The
working class rioted against unfair working conditions and wages, and tried to overcome the evils of
the government. This chapter shows how

Jacob Le Marie was a Dutch explorer that circumnavigated the world. Jacob Le Marie found the strait
that was in between Tierra del Fuego and Isla de Estados. It is now named the Le Marie Strait for him.
His ship (The Eendracht) then rounded Cape Horn and when doing so, proved that Tierra del Fuego

of his role in Peru.
Pedro Álvares Cabral was a very important Portuguese explorer. He was the first to explore much of
Northeastern South America and claimed it for Portugal. He was ultimately looking for a route to

  • 2. Cafe Monte Bianco Café Monte Bianco To analyze this case, the analyst conducted liquidity, solvency and profitability ratios for Cafés Monte Bianco along with sales and income projections for operating the business under both private label and premium brands. The analyst has found that the firm utilizes high leverage to achieve ROE. Further, it is the opinion of the analyst that the firm should abandon private label brands and market its own premium brand; thereby leveraging its industry reputation as a fine purveyor of coffees. Cafés Monte Bianco Liquidity Analysis: The current ratio is 0.57 and the quick ratio is 0.41. This is due to higher liabilities and is an indicator of poor liquidity. The Inventory turnover ratio is a healthy 13.83, which means ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since an ROE of 21.48% equals the product of 4.41% and 4.87 (ROA and Equity Multiplier), it indicates that the firm is able to achieve such high ROE only through a high financial leverage. Strategic Action for Cafes Monte Bianco: Assuming that they will be able to sell all produced capacity, with 0% advertising, and with a 6,000,000 kg annual capacity [Exhibit 2 in case], CMB should be able to generate revenues of 178,322,200,000 liras (Scenario 2). With resulting COGS of 114,954,330,000 liras and other expenses, they should still be able to generate a Net Income of 28,732,818,000 liras. Alternatively, if the company spent the equivalent of 10% of sales on advertising, revenues will increase to 215.62 billion lira, and net profit to 25 billion lira. So the company may be better off not advertising, at 0% (Scenario 3). Pursuing Dino s Production Plan for only Private Brand (Scenario 1) will result in annual revenues of just 52.8 billion liras, COGS of 42.91 billion liras and even with reduced advertising and selling expenses, a resulting net loss of 1,138,659,000 liras, before taxes. This is clearly not a viable strategy. Since the firm utilized only 39.13% of installed plant capacity in year 2000, they clearly need to increase revenues and profit margins by pursuing their own premium brand, instead of pursuing private label brands with higher volumes, but much lower profit margins, and an ... • 3. A Report On Flight Training Abstract Flight Training Devices or commonly known as simulators, are frequently used in military aviator training and is an important training tool for safely teaching flying skills in a controlled environment that is normally too dangerous, or costly to acquire through the use of an actual aircraft. The U.S. Air Force and Army typically use simulators to safely train new Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) operators on critical tasks performed for proficiency and certification without the use of costly flyable aviation resources. Research has discovered there is a lack of conventional standardized training for any of the armed services, but an inter service roadmap is planned for combining future training programs. The researcher will analyze multiple military and civilian aeronautical based articles on the subjects of simulator use for operator training including Army and Air Force future requirements for UAVs, and applicable Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations. Findings will be clear regarding the need for cost saving initiatives and standardized UAV training, including the implications of new FAA regulations. Research will also delve into the fact that inconsistent operator training is a problem for incorporating different types of Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) into the National Airspace (NAS). It is also determined that future military training will be affected by FAA research and findings on this subject. Finally, the results will reveal the need for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Analyse Interpersonal Communication Communication is a vital part of having a successful workplace. More often than not, problems in the workplace are caused by miscommunication, or a lack of communication. The most common form of communication used in the workplace, especially a small family business, is interpersonal communication. But what is interpersonal communication? Communication, as defined by the Australian concise oxford dictionary, 6th edition, is The act of imparting, esp. news (p. 280). While interpersonal is defined as Occurring between persons, esp. reciprocally (p. 738). Therefore, interpersonal communication can be used to describe the way we communicate in small groups. In her TEDx talk, 10 ways to have a better conversation, Celeste Headlee (2015), says that the most important part of a conversation is being able to listen. If you cannot listen, there is no way for you to understand what the other person is trying to convey with their words. In a small family business, listening is an essential skill for every member of the team to have. Unlike a big company, such as McDonalds, in a family business everyone has the same level of seniority. There are no clear roles, this means that interpersonal communication, listening in particular, is an even more important consideration in a small family business. If the family and their employees cannot communicate well there would not a business to manage for much longer. A family business, especially one just hanging on, could potentially go out of business... Another rule that Headlee (2015) says will lead to a better conversation is if you do not know, say that you do not know. It took my co workers and myself a while to realise that she was putting things away in incorrect spots and telling customers wrong information about products in the ... • 5. The Memelon Nature Morte, essentially still life, refers to the portrayal of inanimate objects within images. One Artist, recognized for his iconic impressionistic still life work, is Edouard Manet (1832 1883). Manet is revered for being a key instigator in the transition from realism to impressionism; his still life impressionism works were amongst those considered the genesis of the impressionist movement in the late 19th Century. Manet was raised in Paris, to affluent family. Upon failure to make it into the Navy, Manet began to find his love for art and painting. Manet s work The Melon (c.1880), a still life painting of a single watermelon, encapsulates this historical movement of still life paintings. Manet s titular work The Melon s solitary subject matter is a watermelon. The composition of this painting is simple, a trait of Manet s which developed along side his journey into impressionism. Despite being a journey that was heavily criticized, it is the style and nuance of Manet s melon, which sets it apart from traditional still life images. The melon is isolated. It s placed on an innocuous beige support, against a solid black background. However it is through the use of this space around the Melon that Manet is able to utilize the light, which floods the left side of the melon, to create a very soft, fragile, beautiful painting. ... Prior to analyzing the ISI (Import Substitution Industrialization) model, it s benefits as well as its shortcomings, a small introduction of how it came to be and why must be provided. As a product of the 1930s economic crisis and wear and tear of the liberal model, ISI appears in Latin America as another economic option, proposed by ECLA (Economic Commission for Latin America, dependent of the UN) as a means of bringing Latin America out of stagnation and work towards industrialization to eliminate its dependency on agriculture which was seen as vulnerable. Therefore, it was believed that Latin America instead of following outward looking development path should instead pursue an ISI policy as the centre piece for a new inward directed development strategy (Kay 5), following the beginning footsteps of the developed states. Although its main goal was to strengthen the national economy to better compete in the global market, ISI has had very controversial results. Positively speaking, it has resulted in a decrease in imports, which has favoured certain national industries such as electric materials for construction, textiles, chemicals, etc., the nationalization of natural resources, betterment of term of trade, state intervention in economics (which led to the development of education, health and employment), strengthening of social organizations, but most importantly, the consolidation of the middle class. On a negative note, these nations led to become greatly dependent on technology, there was an increase of external capital control over developed areas, an under qualified labour force for factory jobs, increase in prices of manufactured goods and inflation, migration from rural to urban areas and as a result an increase in social problems, and finally, the industrial sector did not bother to conquer external markets which essentially contradicted the whole purpose of ISI. • 8. Rhetorical Analysis Thoreau Questions on Rhetoric and Style: 1. Describe the tone Thoreau establishes in paragraph 2. How does it contribute to the rhetorical effect of the paragraph? In paragraph two, Thoreau uses a depressing, problematic and facetious tone to get his message across. Thoreau explains how he is strongly against the United States government, and also points out problems of the government. Thoreau uses depressing diction when describing the problems of the government in order to make people feel hatred toward the government and realize how problematic it actually is. Thoreau uses Power of Three to exemplify the problems of the government, and further connects with the audience on an emotional level by pointing out how the citizens help lead to the countries problematic state. Thoreau s use of inappropriate humor when he explains trade makes the United States government seem trivial and almost as a lost cause due to the problems caused by the leaders. His relation of such a serious topic to a comical reference makes it an easier to understand situation. The use of this specific tone creates a more impactful rhetorical effect that is relayed in the paragraph. 3. Thoreau develops many analogies to support his arguments (e.g., in paras. 8 and 9). Select three, and explain whether you find them convincing. How effectively does each one support the claim Thoreau is using it to support? • 10. Taking a Look at Strokes The history of stroke first started with Hippocrates, the father of medicine, who was the first to identify stroke 2,400 years ago, during that decade stroke was known as apoplexy meaning in Greek struck down by violence . This was due to the fact that a person developed sudden paralysis and change in well being. This term continued until the mid 1660 s when Jacob Wepfer realized that apoplexy is due to either bleeding within the brain or blockage inside one the brain veins. The transformation of the term apoplexy to stroke was a major revolution in the history of stroke. Now stroke is known as brain attack to show the urgency needed for an instant action. The World Health Organization (WHO) has estimated that stroke caused 5.7 million deaths in 2004 which accounted for 9.7% of deaths in the world [1]. Strikingly as it might be, stroke is considered to be the 4th leading cause of death among all causes, when considered separately from cardiovascular diseases, on an average every 4 minutes someone dies by a stroke [2] . • 12. The Importance Of Self-Assessment In Mathematics The results of this study have important implications for teachers. They suggest the need for mathematics teachers to provide middle school students with relevant self assessment skills effective for mathematics learning. The results also suggest that both low and average achievers can benefit from the self assessment instruction and as such both achievers can explore the skills in self assessment to enhance their mathematics achievement. Teachers of mathematics should therefore be equipped with self assessment approach in teaching low and average mathematics achieving students. This will help the students who have difficulties in some areas of mathematics to acquire the necessary skills needed for successful learning of mathematics. Although self assessment increased mathematics achievement of low and average mathematics achievers, self assessment had no effect on mathematics achievement of high achievers. This result indicates the need for more evidence on the effect of self assessment on mathematics achievement of high achievers and conditions lead to positive effects. Second, the present research confirms that students subsequent learning goals to correct misunderstandings and to extend learning is important to students success in math. This suggest that mathematics teachers need to give students frequent opportunities to set personal goals based on their difficulties. Companies may move from market structure to market structure over the course of growth and time. In specific reference to automobile liability insurance pricing systems, the risk factors that derive price include insurer risk, regulation, geographical region, and investment returns. The rates are comprised of fixed and variable costs. Fixed costs are relatively low because of minimal operational expenses whereas variable costs are high because of the relatively unlimited risks. The insurance firm is pricing for the long run equilibrium output so that price exceeds the minimum average costs for a normal return. An oligopoly is a market structure in which a few firms sell either a standardized or differentiated product into which entry is difficult in which the firm has limited control over product price because of mutual interdependence (except when there is collusion among firms) and in which there is typically non price competition (McConnell and Brue, 2004). The center point of this film is when Andrew meets Sam (Natalie Portman), a free spirited girl who even has psychological problems of her own, not to mention a bad habit of compulsively lying. How the two s relationship grows in the film is more focused on their conversations and adventures than focusing on the love situations. It s a great relief that Zack Braff chooses to wait on the intimate moments and focus on what draws Andrew and Sam together. There are moments in quot;Garden State quot; that appear as if they might progress into sexual situation but Braff as a director is more patient than that. If you might recall in the trailer, there s a distant long shot of Andrew and Sam by the fireplace. Usually an image like involving a couple might lead to a romantic moment but it s much more than that. It s less focused on body contact and more on comfort. • 20. The Importance Of Development In Cuba I believe development is a certain process of improving the fundamental living conditions, economy, and other demographic components in a country. To be considered developed; a country needs to be a sovereign state in my opinion. Cuba is not considered a sovereign state, as they are not economically developed. Moreover, to also be considered developed; a country needs to provide a certain standard of human development for its citizens. This should include health benefits, nutrition, education, and most importantly a clean environment for all citizens. Unfortunately, Cuba does not provide good sources of human development for all citizens. Also, I believe having a solid infrastructure and improving urbanization is an important factor for a country to be considered developed. As we learned in lecture on November 9th, GDP is the most important measurement and criterion to observe if a country is developed. Countries with higher GDP per capita are considered developed. The lower the GDP, clearly the less developed the country would be. Another criterion to be considered is the industrialization of the country. The Human Development index (HDI) could also be considered a good measurement. As we learned, the index combines the income for the country with other measures including life expectancy and education. Consequently, countries with a high HDI rating should be considered developed. Furthermore, the GINI index can also prove if a country is developed. According to Patrick ... Evidence-Based Practice in Nursing Nursing Evidence Based Practice Findings of evidenced based practice have to be disseminated to ensure that innovations for practice are replicated or applied in other settings by stakeholders in the health fraternity and healthcare professionals (Forsyth, Wright, Scherb Gaspar, 2010). One of the objectives of dissemination should be to improve the practice. Dissemination of evidenced based practice findings in nursing is very critical in knowledge synthesis, translation, and translation. It is imperative in strengthening healthcare, informing policy, and improving practice decisions based on clinical evidence (Rycroft Malone Bucknall, 2010). This is realized by transforming clinical changes into practice. It actually involves two stage processes namely: translation of evidence into practice and integration of research recommendations into actual practice. Effective dissemination of evidence based practice findings enable staff to share information about developments in healthcare practice and implement innovation (Freemantle Watt, 1994). Because of the remains of the economy, the poor started to demand more money for their services. The rich complied with this demand because there was no one who was selling anything cheaper. These actions made the large gap between the rich and poor ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Essay On Immunocastration In Milk In addition, consistent with the low density of spermatogonia, spermatids and seminiferous tubules observed in testicles, the mRNA expressions of LH β and FSH β in the pituitary gland were both significantly decreased after immunocastration in the treated rams. The result is in agreement with the findings of [Wei et al., 2011] in rabbit and [Fang et al., 2010] in boar that GNRHR mRNA expression in the pituitary was significantly decreased in immunocastrated animals. Furthermore, [Sakurai et al., 1992] reported that there was a reduction of GNRHR mRNA in the pituitary and protein concentration after passive immunocastration of male sheep. Another group showed that the amount of GNRHR was significantly lower in the sheep that were immunized ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In general, oral immunization with active kisspeptin DNA vaccine plays a significant role in suppressing GNRH secretion in the hypothalamus, GNRHR in the pituitary, and negative regulation of the secretion of steroid hormones. Leydig cells have essential roles in the maintenance of steroidogenesis and spermatogenesis in the testes. The failures of both processes are attributed to Leydig cell dysfunction. In the current research, expression of testicular LH receptor and FSH receptor mRNAs was significantly lower in the treated ram lambs (P 0.05), implying that testicular responsiveness to LH stimulation was impaired. Indeed, active immunization against GNRH in boars significantly reduced testicular LH receptor and testosterone concentrations following treatment with exogenous LH [Wei et al. 2011; Wei et al., 2012]. Moreover, expression of testicular LHR mRNA was significantly decreased, which further confirmed that the functions of Leydig within testes were severely impaired. In addition, it is well known that FSH plays a role in spermatogenesis. However, the expression levels of FSHR mRNA in the testes of treated rams and control rams were not siginificantly different, demonstrating oral kisspeptin DNA immunization has no influence on ... • 40. Personal Style Of Ee Cummings EE Cummings was well known for his concise, non conforming, innovative works of literature, and it was thought that his great forte [was] the manipulation of traditional forms and attitudes in an original way ( E.E. Cummings ). His work stands out from others, especially against others of his time, and his own personal style is shown in his works not only in the way he uses the form but also in the way he uses words, grammar, punctuation, etc. He essentially made up his own rules on how literature should be written. His poem l(a) displays his unique personal style in a way that it is compacted into a clear, easily understood piece and which remains to impact the reader despite its short length ( E.E. Cummings ). The poem l(a) contains a lot of meaning in a limited amount of words, portrays his rebellion of form and structure in poetry, as well as expresses his desire for literature to be visually appealing. Cummings was efficient with words when writing all of his poems, including l(a) , and even though it is merely a sentence in length, its simplicity truly makes it a form of art. Comprised of only twenty letters, it reads A leaf falls, loneliness , and it is a great example of how pieces of minimalistic literature still have an impact on its readers, regardless of its short length. Comprised of a total of only four words, the overall message of loneliness is still quite clear. The image of a single leaf falling is familiar to many, aside from witnessing it in ... • 41. Justice In Oresteia In all areas where humans might concern themselves with examining the facts , views and perspectives are guaranteed to change. Not only do the perspectives of different thinkers change with time, the manners in which these thinkers think change as well. When Aeschylus wrote The Oresteia, he had in mind his perspective on the story as it was written. The physiological struggles that the characters go through are all influenced by his take on the world and of human beings themselves. Over time, however, new methods of approaching ideas are developed. In the years after Aeschylus there were many other philosophers who developed their own interpretations of the world and sought to contest the older, original ideas. Socrates was one of those ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some of his largest contemplative work was the assessment of ones virtues. He believed that by default people act based on the knowledge that they have. In following knowledge, emotions will surface and inevitably line up with the beliefs that the person has. Thus this leads to the question of free will. Are we truly having our genuinely own feelings? Or were we predestined to act this way and thus feel? Socrates argues that we are not predestined, that we can have self control over our emotions and passions and thus lead us to have self control over our actions. With this in mind Socrates also talks about having this self control, in that attaining it is based on one s knowledge/wisdom of the source of conflict, and assessing correctly what action should be taken. In accordance with self control Socrates is forming an argument for free will. This idea that humans are completely free to do whatever they desire (as long as it s possible) and completely determine their own destiny is an idea that may have seemed unacceptable to Aeschylus. Socrates might have stated that though Orestes asked for the gods help in the matter, he was in the end, deciding for himself to kill his mother. From Socrates s argument Orestes would only be fooling himself by letting his emotions conquer his own knowledge and wisdom, allowing him to justify his acts through conforming to the gods. ... • 42. White House Narrative I don t know who I am or how long I ve been here. I m in a small room with metal walls, ceiling, and floor. I can almost see a reflection on the wall. I detect some white, and some orange above it, but it s nothing more than blurs. I am only wearing some kind of black, skin tight underwear. I reach to feel the wall in an angered, feral state. It feels smooth. The room is empty: just three holes (two inches in diameter) on the ceiling, and a camera on a vertex of the ceiling. The holes look about six inches in depth. I can t form a single thought. I notice tiny, spherical holes in the veins of my antecubital space. I am fed up being here. Suddenly, I feel my will return. • 43. Kohlberg s Six Stages Of Moral Development 1. Goldman Sachs should have been punished for its behavior in the years leading up to the financial crisis. Goldman ended up settling with the federal government for $110 Billion, which I do not believe was sufficient based on the magnitude of problems created. This amount should have been much larger, and at minimum they should have forfeited the $14 Billion paid to them by AIG. (Inside Job, 2011) In addition, AIG should have had the right to sue Goldman Sachs for fraud. It was in the public s best interest to keep Goldman up and running, however additional penalties could have been put on a repayment schedule to keep them solvent. Instead, you had Goldman giving out large bonuses. Executives and those responsible for misdeeds should have been subject to significant clawbacks of compensation. If the reason they misbehaved and took inappropriate risks was to raise compensation, losing that compensation would be an appropriate punishment. 2. Kohlberg s six stages of moral development can be applied to corporations. Corporations are made up of individuals, and the corporate culture can contribute to an individual s moral decision making. Mintz tells us that an individual s moral development can be influenced by corporate culture, especially ethics training. (p. 58) Since the corporate culture can so heavily influence individual ethical decision making, the stage of moral development of the corporation is important. An example of Stage 2 preconventional moral ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The objective of their advertising strategy is to increase awareness of benefits of G2 and reinforce that idea with an aim of differentiating the products and persuading customers towards purchase. Offline advertising Gatorade used Float commercials, which features sportsmen and women such as NBA s Dwayne Wade and gymnast Chellsie Memmel. The advertising repeats Mohammed Ali s Quote Float like a butterfly and sting like a bee which supports the brand slogan in a way that floating portrays lightness in calories and sting like a bee portrays the ability to accurately hit performance targets. By employing high repetitions of advertisements during sports events such as Super bowl, the most watched event in US TV, they ensure high exposure to their brand thereby increasing awareness amp; recall of G2. Their print advertisements such as Gatorade Double Life mainly focus on sports magazines such as Sports Illustrated, Bounce and Dime as they carry a synergy with their target audience of Athletes, professional or non professional. • 45. Current Economic Conditions In The United States Current Economic Conditions As previously stated in the executive summary, the United States economy is currently stagnating. From week to week we may see a rise in one indicator while there is a fall in another indicator, but none of the rises or falls are drastic enough to have an overwhelming impact on the economy as a whole. Although the economy is not near as strong as it was before the 2008 2009 recession, arguably one of the biggest economic crises of the past decade, there has been much growth and strength throughout the past few years with this year being the first year in which the economy is in somewhat of a holding pattern. I believe, that even with the little growth and movement of the United States economy over the past year, it is still perhaps one of the strongest economies in the world at the moment. The rise and fall of GDP over a specific period of time is, in many cases, the number one indicator for how the economy is doing. Being the output of final goods and services, GDP works well with consumer confidence and provides a good idea as to the general health of the economy. By looking at Figure 1, we can see that GDP rose steeply after the 20008 2009 recession and has continued to remain strong with relatively little movement since 2010. In the most recent quarters, 2014 and 2015, GDP has declined a little, but the decline is in no way too drastic nor did it have any significant impact on the economy. This slight decline is more like GDP ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. The American Civil War The American Civil War, which occurred between 1861 and 1865, pitted the Union North against the Confederate South. Between 1835 and 1877, there was another Civil War occurring within the United States. The other Civil War involved pitting the rich against the poor. One of the most important assertions Zinn makes involves these struggles: In these books, given to millions of young Americans, there is little on class struggle in the nineteenth century. The period before and after the Civil War is filled with politics, elections, slavery, and the race question. Even where specialized books on the Jacksonian period deal with labor and economic issues they center on the presidency, and thus perpetuates the traditional dependency on heroic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Next, unionization was the rise of labor unions. Workers banded together for the first time, as they felt they were being treated unjustly. They demanded higher wages and a ten hour workday. The Lowell Girls Movement was stressed in this chapter, as Zinn really illustrated the plight of the Lowell girls. The Lowell system was controlled by rules and regulations, and young girls would work in the mills and live in dormitories that were prisonlike. They had extreme work hours, waking up at four in the morning and working until seven thirty at night, and they were fed scraps. Women began protesting and organized a Factory Girls Association, which ended up going on strike. They held out for about a month, but they ultimately ran out of money and were forced to return to work. The last big movement was the Great Railroad Strike of 1877. It began with lower wages ($1.75 a day for brakemen working 12 hours), deaths and injuries among workers (loss of limbs and the crushing of men between cars), and scheming by the railroad companies. Strikes broke out at the Baltimore Ohio station, Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania Railroad, Harrisburg, St. Louis, and had even made the news in Europe. The working class rioted against unfair working conditions and wages, and tried to overcome the evils of the government. This chapter shows how ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
