Lake Baikal And The Russian Revolution
1. What is A? Why is it there? Why should we care? Lake Baikal, head water to the Lena River and is
a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lake Baikal is said to be the Galapagos of Russia and was formed by
a rift zone that is no longer active. It is 1700 meters deep and has 20% of the worlds unfrozen
freshwater. The lake is a big resource for the planet and it has very unique plants and animals due to
its isolation. Also due to the isolation, it has a high rate of endemic species. Lake Baikal was also the
site of the first democratic movement in the Soviet Union. The Perestroika movement freedom of
speech was started with movements based on environmental issues, such as the paper mill near Lake
Baikal polluting the lake with its run off. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In general terms, discuss the ways in which the change from a centrally planned economy to a more
market based economy has affected career options and standards of living for the elderly, young
professionals, unskilled laborers, members of the military, women, and former government
bureaucrats. The collapse of the Soviet Union started the change to a market driven economy.
Everyone had to learn what capitalism was and had to do so very quickly, which was not an easy
process. Changing to a market driven economy was great for those who had an advantage, such as the
previous leaders in the Soviet Union. They were able to take over state run businesses as their own
and become wealthy. Others, like young professionals, unskilled laborers etc....lost their jobs and
unemployment skyrocketed. With the unemployment so high, the standard of living for these workers
worsened.
3. Discuss the declining birthrate in Russia and other countries in the region. What do you think the
impact of this decline can have on neighboring countries and regions? Are similar declines happening
elsewhere? The declining birthrate is seen all throughout Russia and neighboring countries. A lot is
due to many choosing to have less children and also the high mortality rate of younger men. It seems
that Europe and the United States are also seeing a decline in the birthrate, but not as bad as

Better Than Hum Why Robots Will-And Must Take Our Jobs
Nearly all jobs, blue and white collar alike, will eventually be automated by a worker who never
makes mistakes, never needs to stop working, and can learn faster than any human alive. This is the
future we face, according to Kevin Kelly, writer of Better Than Human: Why Robots Will And Must
Take Our Jobs. Kelly discusses the future of machines doing our work for us. Kelly believes that all
jobs currently occupied by humans will eventually be taken over by machines, and humans will
benefit from the results. While Kelly presents engaging arguments, his examples and writing style are
ineffective in fully demonstrating his view of automation in the workplace. One flawed example Kelly
uses to prove his point is the use of autopilot on an airliner, saying that the pilot is largely unnecessary
because the autopilot is perfectly capable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He even addresses the reader ( Dear Reader ) directly to tell them that their job will certainly be taken
over by machines, whether they like it or not. Even though the article is meant to be educational, its
nature is almost taunting. Kelly s article, white thought provoking, makes sweeping generalizations
and talks down on the reader, both of which weaken his argument. While reading, I wondered if the
career path I want to go into, automotive design, could be automated. The thing with automotive
design is that it s such a delicate blend of art and hard science. A computer could already design a car
to be perfectly aerodynamic and generate the perfect amount of downforce, but cars are still designed
by humans, because people can insert graceful (cosmetic) design motifs and aggressive body lines that
a computer wouldn t bother with. Computers have a specific way of tackling problems, and to assume
that that way of problem solving would apply to nearly every career out there is simply

Reflection On Meditation And Visualization
Meditation And Visualizing: Review.
Most people hear about meditation from their families and friends but have little knowledge of what
the practice actually entails. Before joining my Masters Program in the field led by my experienced
and knowledgeable Professor Sophie Sore, I was both nervous and excited. I had no prior experience
with meditation neither visualization and had was still unsure of how the learning experience would
turn out. My friends had made comments that they had lost their minds after their meditation
experience. With no doubt, this made me skeptical about the program but my intuition led me to one
of the greatest and enlightening paths that I would ever undertake in my life.
The class has taught me that through imagery and visualization, we can enhance our productivity,
combat stress, anxiety, worries as well as all forms of tension. The lessons on EPT (Enhanced
Performance Techniques) were of particular ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During this process, I lost consciousness with my body as well as surroundings and was unconscious
about both my location and the time. To say the least, I experienced a state of complete mind
peacefulness. I truly appreciate learning the mind skills that not only gave me more satisfaction but
left me with feelings of utter bliss. The other enlightening experience in the course was yoga which
was also a foreign concept to me before joining the class. Professor Sophie is indeed knowledgeable in
this realm. This quality added with her patience and her engagement with the students ensured that as
beginners, we were comfortable and had fun during these classes. I also appreciate the high quality
Yoga mats that Sophie ordered for us to facilitate our home exercises. The downward facing dog and
the child s pose were two of my most favorite yoga positions. The positions stretched my back,
boosted my blood circulation and generally woke me up. I till continue with the practice at

Condoleezza Rice Case Study
On June 2006 in Tel a Viv the word new Middle East was coined and introduced to the world courtesy
of the then US secretary of state Condoleezza rice. The term was meant to reduce the more imposing
great middle east . It is a term that was accompanied by hope and despair in equal measure. Secretary
Condoleezza Rice claimed that in a press conference that the destruction of Lebanon and Israel attacks
was the emergence of the new Middle East and in case the United States joins in the race they must
make sure they are moving to the new one but not the old Middle East. However her statements were
criticized because of expressing the indifferences to the suffering of a country which had been bombed
indiscriminately by the Israel Air forces.

Neasha The Great Sparknotes
Neasha the Great Fighting for what you believe in, is powerful way to strengthen yourself and people
around you. There was once a beautiful New Zealand girl named Neasha that lived on a green luscious
island called Popomi. She had long, curly, brown hair that passed her hips and big light brown eyes
that shined as bright as the sun. Neasha and her family were in a tribe called Tuamo that was all about
peace and love for the island. There was another tribe called Api i and they were all about taking over
the lands. One day Api i was trying to take over Tuamo s land. The Tuamo people were so innocent
that they were letting Api i take over. Neasha then refused to let them take control of their land and
home. She then plans to go to the territory of Api i and was going to try take the Ledgens of the Spear,
to make a peace treaty with the tribe. Neasha then starts her adventure through a dark, misty, forest to
get to the tribe. She then sees two big, tall, muscled men who were guarding the front entrance to the
Api i tribe. She then plans out how to distract them from seeing her pass through the entrance. Above
her, she sees a shadow... There was a group of monkey s passing above her. She then grab a fallen
banana that was right beside her on a rock. Neasha throws it past the guards, down the hill, and then

Advisor Role Analysis
I didn t know what I was going to expect when I walked through those red doors to meet a new
advisor, but little did I know I was going to uphold major responsibilities. I had a new task at hand and
it wasn t only to delegate the staff members, but my advisor as well. I was going up the ladder each
upcoming year. I started off as a staff member, I became an editor, and finally I was now becoming the
advisor. My past experiences in yearbook, led me to take initiative when I heard the advisor ask, Who
wants to be Editor in Chief? . Such an important role was going to be determined by a raise of hand. I
was not only raising my hand for an editorial position, but I was raising my hand because I knew I
would be willing to make sacrifices. I ve always been a closed off person, so when I raised my hand I
knew I had to change my way of doing things. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My first year of yearbook involved focusing on myself and just doing what I had to complete, but over
time I had to start letting my peers help me and not have all the pressure on myself. Depending on
other people was definitely something I struggled with, but I was capable of overcoming being closed
off and letting people in. My job was to be their motivation and lead by example. If they saw the
editors doing their pages, going the extra mile, and putting all their effort into the yearbook then the
members started putting effort. The whole staff had to work together and pull through with a
successful yearbook. Our final project always caught the student body s attention and it brought a
sense of accomplishment because I knew I was a part of something that a student will keep and

Economic Traditionalism As The Antithesis Of Economic...
Economic traditionalism is essentially the antithesis of modern capitalism. Within this framework,
work was viewed as a necessary evil (Kalberg 2011a: p. 418). It was simply the means through which
people acquire the economic needs necessary for survival. Therefore, work and money did not take
precedence over one s family, community, and leisure. The tasks themselves were based on custom
and tradition, and were independent of the individual himself. That is, work did not constitute one s
self identity. Luther was an extreme proponent of this ideology. He was suspicious of wealth and
asserted that money should only be enough to live a life of integrity. Weber ([1905] 2011) describes
Luther s reservation:
Luther was convinced that people of every status can become saved...Therefore, the striving for
material gain that goes beyond one s own needs, Luther argues, must be a symptom of one s lack of
grace. Indeed, because striving for gain appears to be possible only at the expense of others, this
pursuit must be viewed as an unequivocal abomination. (P. 103)
Thus, Luther was critical of those who utilized work to feed their avarice. Instead, asceticism was
highly valued; as people were advised to renounce gluttony and avoid succumbing to their physical
and sensual pleasures. Luther was also wary of those who attempted to venture outside of their calling.
This was viewed as tinkering with God s will and undermining His plan for the individual s salvation.
Therefore, the

Bad Girls Club is a reality show in which seven women share a house for approximately three months.
When new girls enter the house, some girls would be themselves, but will have a bad or honest side.
Most of them will come on the show, and act like, I m the baddest , I m the realest , and If anybody
messes with me, they will see my bad side . Other girls portray themselves as very humble and good.
The other girls, don t get into many fights; they are the ones to break up the fights. Still others would
portray themselves as manipulative and try to investigate conflict, just to watch the other girls in the
house argue ( Bad Girls Club , Oxygen, 2006, Television). Oxygen tries to find fun and entertainment
within the Bad Girls Club, but the show reinforces gender stereotypes. Bad Girls Club defines
traditional female stereotypes because the girls are generally strong and independent young women.
The girls feels the need to show dominance through fighting, screaming, swearing, and partying
(Boyer. 2011). The portrayal of young women are not traditional, but Bad Girls Club does not create a
positive image on young girls. For example, a bad girl should be feminine, and able to defend herself
verbally and physically, very sexually active, materialistic, dress a certain way along with fitting other
similar stereotypes (Boyer.

Bourdieu Marx And Durkheim, Political Economy With...
Bourdieu connects Marx with Durkheim, political economy with cultural studies. He distinguishes
cultural production from other economic manufactory field using the interlocking conceptual tools of
field, habitus and capital. The conceptual categories Bourdieu brought to cultural analysis have since
shaped the study of what I find valuable to my analysis. Bourdieu described media, art, academic
settings, and various areas of intellectual production, as fields that appear to be autonomous. However,
he showed that this autonomy was only apparent and would change according to the expansion or
regulation of capital and that it had its own internal relations which were economic in nature.
Bourdieu integrates the three concepts of field, habitus and cultural capital into a system analysis on
cultural production. He summarizes this relation using the following equation: [(habitus)(capital)] +
field = practice. It means that practice results from relations between one s dispositions (habitus) and
one s position in a field (capital), within the current state of the social arena (field) (Bourdieu, 1986,
p101). Therefore, in order to study the practices of cultural workers, we need to first know field,
habitus, and capital. 1) A field is not a concrete place, but rather a social spatial arena and a
relationship that is always being negotiated. It is a system of social positions where agents are located.
Fields interact with each other, but most are subordinate to the larger field

The Acceptance Of Oneself In Walt Whitman s A Song Of Myself
A Song of Myself; a poem of learning to love yourself A Song of Myself by Walt Whitman portrays
many things, but the most overwhelming message is the acceptance of oneself and their surroundings.
Whitman used this poem as an ode to life, to give a sense of liberation from conformity. Whitman
begins the poem with I celebrate myself, in order to show how the poem is a celebration not only for
life but of the acceptance for oneself. Not only does Whitman accept himself, he urges others to do the
same. In the poem he states, For every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you. This sentence
means that Whitman and the readers can both succeed, and also means both figures can accept
themselves. Whitman also talks about how easy it is to step away from conformity and be himself,
saying that the Me is nearest and easiest to him. In one of the last sections of the poem, Whitman
states that his essence has always been present in the universe and always will be. Whitman talks
about how the entire history of the universe has been building for when Whitman realizes who he is ...

Whitman uses Grass to symbolize hope, growth and death. In the first section of the poem, Whitman
wants to look at a spear of grass. The grass is now representing weapons and danger in the
surroundings of one s life, but still overcoming the obstacles to love one. Also, grass was a great
representation of the resurrection of someone; the grass grows from the decomposition in the soil. The
way grass represents growth and death is exactly what the readers go through every day. Death
happens every day and grass represents that though death happens we can rebuild and flourish. Grass
can grow through the cracks of concrete; it can grow high and thick above the decomposition below. It
is representation of us in society and how we can overcome these obstacles, the same way Whitman
writes about and

The Between State College Blvd And Vermont Essay
On the southeastern side of Anaheim, between State College Blvd. and Vermont Ave. lies what
someone would call a simple old park who no one visits , Boysen Park. On the north side of the park
the entrance can be found. Along with the location of the elementary school, Theodore Roosevelt on
the northeastern side of the park. In the middle eastern side of the park there is a large baseball field
and two smaller fields on the opposite side of it. On the southeastern part of the park the Anaheim
Tennis Center is located.
It is a sunny afternoon, as the kids run joyfully up and down the small hills of the park and around the
playground. The playground is full of little kids from ages ranging between three and eight. Their
laughter carried out to the rest of the park by the fresh summer breeze. A boy climbs up the wing of
the airplane followed by a couple of girls. The little girls in their lovely pink skirts run towards the
swings; their ponytails swaying from side to side as they run. Up so high in the sky the sun is
providing warmth and energy for all the kids who run wildly throughout the playground.
Be careful, I don t want you getting hurt, a mother is heard shouting from the distance.
Come on lets go play tag. A boy says to a small group of kids that are with him. He seems to be the
leader and decision maker among themselves.

Slaughterhouse Five and its Depiction of Key World War II Events Kurt Vonnegut s Slaughterhouse
Five is an interesting but complicated novel about a man bouncing through time and space. The novel
is a satire with elements of science fiction, although Kurt Vonnegut incorporates into the plot some of
his actual experiences as a World War II soldier and prisoner of war. Vonnegut s lead character and
protagonist is Billy Pilgrim, a person who time travels throughout the novel. Vonnegut brings the
readers along on Billy s wild and unpredictable journey which goes in several different directions.
While this complicates the story, Vonnegut keeps returning to the theme of war by returning Billy
back to his time as a soldier during World War II. Vonnegut devotes significant portions of
Slaughterhouse Five to the war theme, capturing the zeitgeist of World War II through vivid and
highly accurate depictions of key events such as the Battle of the Bulge, the use of boxcars to transport
prisoners of war, and the bombing of Dresden by the Allied forces. By transporting Billy back to the
Battle of the Bulge, Vonnegut effectively captures the harsh realities of this significant and vitally
important World War II event. Early in the novel, Billy is thrust into his regiment when it was in the
process of being destroyed by the Germans in the famous Battle of the Bulge (Vonnegut 40). Billy
finds himself in the middle of this difficult

Essay Father and Son
Father and Son Just whom is Edmund Gosse s Father and Son written for? Is it for the Father, or for
the Son, or, as Edmund Gosse tells us, for the public, so they can have a record of life in a rigidly
religious family? Edmund begins his book by telling you that it is a historical record, an important
chronicle that is to be used, basically as a reference for a period of time. Yet, in the first sentence of
the first chapter, we can see that this is truly not his purpose. The first words on the page does not
reference a historical event; they are, instead, cathartic. Edmund tries very hard to convince his reader
that this is not an autobiography (217). Try as he might, he did not persuade me.

This is not the only narcissistic angle of the book. Even when reiterating episodes in the life of the
Gosse s he does it in reference to himself. If this were to chronicle two temperaments, two
consciences....two epochs there would be more than one perspective. Do we once hear of Philip Gosse
s reactions or feelings about his wife dying? We do not, we merely get the reactions of what he does
from his son. Do we know what he thought those nights alone without his wife? No, we do not.
Edmund did not take the time to find out. He even apologizes when he said, Had I been older and
more intelligent, of course, it might have been him, and not of myself that I should have been
thinking. Yet, still thinking of himself, he states, This is not to be dwelt on here. Of course it isn t
Edmund, it is an autobiography, it is about you.
Edmund, we know would argue that. He tries to take the spotlight off of himself. Being the type of
person that he is, the always goes back to talking about himself. In the last numerical chapter of the
book, Edmund tells of an apocalyptic event, a noteworthy action worthy of ending a book on...his
transcendence into heaven. His epiphany is quickly grounded by reality. Nothing happens. His ego is
shattered. HIS ego, Edmund s ego. This catalytic event puts an emotional and spiritual division
between father and son that puts the thick o the world between them. Although in the Epilogue

the people of the places that I travel too. The easiest place that I have found to obtain that connection
has been in Peru. Another thing that many Americans talk about is that they are unsure about the ease
of travel in Peru. There seems to be a concern about finding guides and navigating successfully. The
simple answer to that question is that there are numerous outfitters that specialize in taking Americans

The Latin Wars
Introduction
At its height in 117 A.D., the Roman Empire was the largest political organization in the western
world, extending across Europe, Northern Africa and the Middle East (Mark, 2011). What is uncanny
about this accomplishment are the numerous peoples and cultures that Rome gathered together under
her banner. In my discussion post for this unit I will discuss the importance of the aftermath of the
Latin Wars (340 338 B.C) specifically regarding Rome s treatment of the Latium cities and how this
set the precedence for her treatment of future subjugations and laid the foundation for maintaining her
vast empire (Toll, 2009).
Discussion
Early in Roman history around 340 B.C. Rome s strategic allies in Latium sensing her ambition and
tiring of Rome behaving as the de facto ruler of the region , demanded to be treated as equals, not as
territories of Rome (Toll, 2009). Furthermore, if their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Subsequently, Rome scoffed at the demands of the Latins resulting in the Latin Wars which concluded
with the Romans victors (Morey, 1901).
It is at this moment in history when the Romans having learned from past endeavors engaged in a
brilliant strategy to incorporate the towns of Latium into the Roman political organization (Forsythe,
2006, p.289 292). Rome s initial step was to breakup the Latin Confederacy, isolating each of the
towns in Latium with the knowledge that a united Latium would present a substantial threat to Rome s
power (Morey, 1901). Based on each Latin city s behavior and aggressiveness during the war and on
their level of compatibility, the Romans delegated certain rights and freedoms to each city (Toll,
2009). Some of the towns were fully integrated in to the Roman political organization with the
populace of those towns being granted full Roman citizenship which bestowed on them the right to
trade with and marry other Roman

It has been a decade since Kolkata s Saint of Gutters , Mother Teresa went home to God. But
Missionaries of Charity, the order established by Mother in 1950, still continues to feel her divine

our society today. In this essay, I will discuss one of those many ideals and provide evidence to defend
that it is, indeed, a Puritanical ideal that can be found in many early colonial pieces of literature, such
as Self Acquaintance by William Cooper, Here followes some verses upon the burning of our house,
July 10th, 1666 by Anne Bradstreet, and John Winthrop s City Upon A Hill, 1630. Loyalty to God, or
faith, is a Puritan ideal.
Faith is a Puritan ideal as shown in many early colonial works. In Self Acquaintance by William
Cooper, the speaker begins to question his faith before stating, Oh, cleanse me in a Saviour s
blood,/Transform me by thy pow r,/And make me thy beloved abode,/And let me rove no more. As he
begins to wander from his faith, he cries out to God, his Saviour, to cleanse him from the sin of
doubting his faith. In Anne Bradstreet s Here followes some verses upon the burning of our house,

Eighner s Model Of Success Essay
To be authentically pleased with oneself is extremely difficult to meet, especially through the eyes of a
superficial being. In modern society, numerous people revolve around the central idea that success
only bears one absolute definition, that is, to be part of the elite class and to be worth a certain value
according to the income they make and their living standards. Living in a world that idolizes this
stereotypical impression of success (and monetary worth) will inevitably be challenging for any
individual to thoroughly comprehend the difference between his or her true self importance, versus the
unrealistic expectations that are engraved in his or her illogical mind. A well respected Czech writer
and philosopher, Vaclav Havel, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is the unique connection between challenging labor and the favorable outcome (in terms of one s
wisdom) that makes the working industry good. In contrast, those who work to meet the high demands
of society s version of success will undoubtedly fail in regards to their mentality. Clearly, Eighner
supports Havel s idea that one should take advantage of hard labor because of the spiritual benefits,
not for the physical products that result from expenses. Moreover, he explicitly describes his aversion
toward can scroungers, a symbol in the article that represents the materialistic people in society who
depend on their physical possessions. The homeless man criticizes and accuses can scroungers of
littering the dumpster area in an effort to find cans and exchange them for small cash; in fact, they
become so specialized that they can see only cans (Eighner, 427). Can scroungers are dependent

Non Otc Herbal Supplements At The Same Time
Personal Statement Draft
As I walked out of the door, there was a big sigh relief on my face as the pharmacist reassured me that
don t worry about it. I do not see any drug and drug interaction between the medications you are
currently taking. Let me know if you are experiencing any side effects, if not you re will be alright!
Until that moment, I have never realized the important role of pharmacists in the health care field. The
reason I went in to talk to the pharmacist was not to pick up my prescription, but I was there to ask
about drug and drug interaction since I was taking multiple antibiotics, immunosuppressant drugs, and
few other OTC herbal supplements at the same time. Several months before my consultation with a
CVS pharmacist, a small patch of skin near my eyebrow turned white and I was diagnosed with
Vitiligo. Although the mechanism of action for vitiligo is unknown, after researching online rigorously
for answers, I discovered that one of the possible causes is a chemical known as Rhodoenol, an active
ingredient in a Japanese whitening creaming, Kanebo. Due to its phenol group, Rhodoenol can
undergo competitive inhibition with tyrosine to form tyrosinase, which is a crucial step for the body to
produce melanin. After doing research online, I suspect the trigger of my Vitiligo is the few Japanese
whitening creams to help with the acne scars. My eagerness to find answers, determination to watch
my diets, the will to exercise more to help my immune system,

Speech On Public Shaming
The immediacy and fast pace of the internet can be magical, but it can also become a nightmare that
ruins a person s life (Source C). The world believes that public humiliation is an effective punishment,
but it is overused and ineffective. Public shaming is a dire term due to its high usage. Public shaming
dates back to the 1500s. The Puritan society gave their people this type of punishment, as seen in
Source A, The Scarlet Letter. They hoped that the sinner would show God their mercy. Now, in the
21st century, public shaming is still taking full effect because of social media, such as Instagram and
Facebook. The victims that could not escape public shame are Monica Lewinsky, Justine Sacco, and
Hester Prynne. If kids like Tyler Clementi get shamed to death then public shaming is getting dire
because the consequences impact a person socially, professionally, and personally.
First, public shame affects people socially. Source A claims that: What do we talk of marks and
brands, whether on the bodice of her gown, or the flesh of her forehead? (Source A 36). This quote
was said at the beginning of The Scarlet Letter by one of the women outside the prison when Hester
was released from prison. The quote shows that the townspeople have branded Hester for committing
the sin of adultery and are shoving her away from society. This isolation from society is also shown in
a quote from Is the Internet a Mob without Consequences? (by Nick Bilton). Source B notes that:

The Sun Also Rises Modernism Analysis
During the early twentieth century, the philosophical and artistic movement of Modernism permeated
the world of literature. Thusly, Modernism, as a philosophy, is defined through the loss of traditional
values and meaning in life; men, women and all people are isolated and alone, unable to fully
communicate through language. Modernist writers portray the world as a harsh and unjust place in
which their characters struggle alone with unrealistic and futile dreams. With this in mind, The Sun
Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway is a novel that details the story of Jacob Barnes and his circle of
friends. Most of the friends, including Jake, are World War I veterans who have been harshly afflicted

prayer is choppy. He does not usually go to church nor does he usually pray. Jake does not feel
religious, and this is what he deduces makes him such a rotten Catholic. He regrets this notion and this
is a symptom of a much larger problem for Jake: he craves authenticity and spirituality and innocence,
but he has been corrupted by the great war. It took not only his fertility but also his spiritual potency.
Further proof of his desire for spiritual authenticity and purity is when he sees Pedro Romero, the

The Factors Associated With Youth Homelessness And Arrest,...
Poverty has long been a consistent characteristic in crime. Numerous theories like Social
Disorganization, Labeling Theory, and Strain Theory have been created to try to explain the
connection between poverty and crime. As these theories demonstrate , the devastating external factors
that poverty causes contribute to crime. Yet, the connection between poverty and crime continues to

The Role Of Hamlet Developed Through English And Russian...
How has the character of Hamlet developed through English and Russian Theatre?
Hamlet, the main character from one of the most famous Shakespeare s plays The Tragical Historie of
Hamlet, Prince of Denmarke , is one of the most popular and well known characters around the world
(it is very difficult to find a person who hasn t heard about him). William Shakespeare created an epic
story about a young man, his way to revenge and his internal spiritual fight with his soul full of
melancholy. The depth of the main character allowed different actors to show different ideas and ways
of playing on a stage through playing his role.
The performance history of Hamlet may be considered as an evolution of styles of playing. No play
has been performed more frequently, especially in England, where this famous play was originally
written. But The United Kingdom was not the only place where Hamlet became an iconic figure. In
Russian culture Hamlet has always played an important, special role. Russian society has been using
Hamlet as a mirror for years, finding in this character sometimes role model, sometimes reflection of
its inner problems. The Russian Hamlet has always been defender of truth and fighter of freedom. His
character represented every new period of Russian history (monarchy, communism etc.). On the other
side Russian Hamlet has never been a weak and gutless man. It perfectly mirrors usual Russian
political stance for centuries.

The Mozart s Effect Theory Of The Mozart Effect
There are numerous theories as to what factors may affect one s ability to perform adequately. The
Mozart Effect theory was established by Rauscher, Shaw, and Ky (1993). The Mozart Effect refers to a
set of research results indicating that listening to Mozart s music may stimulate a short term
enhancement on the enactment of certain assignments. This theory supported that listening to music
composed by Mozart would increase their ability to perform accurately on a both mathematical
operation and spatial reasoning test. The researchers proposed that music lacking complexity or that is
repetitive may interfere with your ability to execute the task effectively, rather than enhance, abstract
reasoning (Rauscher, Shaw, Ky). Rauscher, Shaw, and Ky from the University of California Irvine
conducted an experiment where they aimed to find a correlational relationship amongst music intellect
and cognitions pertaining to abstract mathematical operations and that of spatial reasoning. This
experiment was conducted on December 1993 and revolved around three different conditions, the
Mozart sonata for two pianos in D major, a relaxation tape, and silence as the control group. A control
group is constituted of participants who fail to attain any experimental treatment, this is particularly to
associate the experimental group to the tangible example. In the original study performed at

Simon is with the littuns and he is shown to be generous and caring, as he, found for them the fruit

for others. This is also shown by Simon s willingness to help with the building of the huts, when all

my work have to fit into somebody s global supply chain, but i myself have to understand how I need
to compete and have skills sets required to work at pace that fits the supply chain and I had better be

U.S manufacturing workers now have jobs that depend on exports. So the workers will not only

will benefit increasingly from export markets and will offer high salaries for skilled workers. And For
those who maintain and improve their skills, the changes should bring increasing rewards, but it will
be traumatic for those who fall behind the skills curve and resist retraining. Last, the changing is
affected by some other aspect such as Ages, Ethnic Diversification and Digitizing. Thomas L.

The people associated with the attack who need attention are the top level executives and, more

2. How should the company s IT security be improved and strengthened? What should its short term

Hiring Richel as the Chief Security Officer was one big step towards a better IT security program at
TJX; he s an executive who understands the harsh and costly consequences of a weak IT security
system and has plans to implement the strongest system possible.
Short term priorities include 1) addressing Mary Smith s letter and taking care of the $5,000 theft, 2)
implement network monitoring, 3) implement logs, 4) encrypt ALL data and minimize the time where
data goes from scrambled to unscrambled , and 5) update all components of the system, both hardware
and software, to the most modern and secure in the industry.
Long term priorities should include minimizing risk by making everyone in the company, not just
top level executives, aware of the potential of another massive attack on their system. The reason why
I think store clerks and managers should be made aware of their respective branch s IT system
(wireless, kiosks, card swipers, etc) is so that they know what an attack looks like when it is
happening. More times than not, the invasion is happening right in front of the cashier s face yet they

Kazuo Ishiguro s Discursive Narrative Style In The Remains
Kazuo Ishiguro s discursive narrative style serves to construct a subtle connection between Ishiguro
himself and his protagonist, Stevens. An incisive analysis of The Remains said by, Critic Meghan
Marie Hammond, which pertinently suggests that the novel in its intricacy has an elusive form.
However, it should be noted that beneath this seemingly ambiguous form, there is a precision and an
underlying order, to Ishiguro s use of narrative style in The Remains. In this world of the novel, there
is a structure in the evidently arbitrary form of the novel, which provides an artistic sophistication to
the narrative style. Ishiguro seems to have an aesthetic intention when delineating his protagonist in

admits that [he] might have read between the lines . One should also note that his split subjectivity
rather than ethical imperceptiveness is the source of his unreliability. This is due to the fact that
Stevens is the conscious source of much of the information that we gain. This split subjectivity of
Stevens is propelled by his inner turmoil. Stevens s blindness to his employer s faults glorifying him

This encapsulates his inner struggle which forces him to evade certain truths in order to maintain

Rappaccini s Daughter, By Susanna Rowson
Literature has historically been a means of passing traditions down, providing entertainment, inspiring
creative ideas, and transferring knowledge through several generations. In society, literature can be
embraced for its innovation or condemned for the values it intently expresses against societal,
political, and even religious views. Social criticism in literature is meant to directly or subtly call out
the flaws in the social structure in an attempt to create awareness or evoke reforms. Many literary
works invent characters who either gladly embrace gender and sexuality norms or are predisposed to
them and live unconsciously, but are ultimately ruined in the end as a means to show the issue with
definitive terms that categorize individuals. In 1791, British American novelist Susanna Rowson
published her novel Charlotte Temple in England, and later it published in 1794 in the United ... Show

a new country. American gothic novelist Nathaniel Hawthorne created the short story Rappaccini s

471). The children were not told which sex to choose for the doll that represented the second parent,
so that they could depict their own family structure (Perry et al., 2004, pg. 471). Once this process was
complete, the experimenter would tell the children a story and then ask them to tell them what
happens next (Perry et al., 2004, pg. 471). Based on the findings, narrative play techniques tell us that
children from lesbian mother families represented their mothers as equally positive parents to
heterosexual families (Perry et al., 2004, pg. 474). They also showed their mothers to have similar
levels of discipline (Perry et al., 2004, pg. 474). Also through the use of play narratives, children from
lesbian mother families showed no more negative emotion themes as children from heterosexual
families (Perry et al., 2004, pg. 474). The more negative emotion within a family, the higher amount
of behavior problems exists within the child (Perry et al., 2004, pg. 476). Based on the data from the
study, children from lesbian mother families did not have more negative emotion themes in their
stories compared to heterosexual parents (Perry et al., 2004, pg. 476). This suggests that children
being raised in a lesbian mother family do not experience negative psychological or emotional

The Influence Of Jazz In The 1920 s
The era of the Roaring Twenties, was a time of great societal change. For nearly the first half of the
twentieth century, from about 1915 to 1955, jazz was the dominant form of popular dance music in the
United States. Jazz originated in major cities throughout the U.S. at the turn of the 20th century,
primarily in the decade of 1920. Many of these changes were greatly influenced by jazz music. During

develop the Swing style which would not formally appear for another two years which included one
such dance called the jitterbug ( Jazz ). Simply put, they began to change the make up of the band, and

white big bands from swing developed by blacks. Artists would perform with their backs to the
audience. They developed Scat, a type of crazy syllable

  • 2. Lake Baikal And The Russian Revolution 1. What is A? Why is it there? Why should we care? Lake Baikal, head water to the Lena River and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lake Baikal is said to be the Galapagos of Russia and was formed by a rift zone that is no longer active. It is 1700 meters deep and has 20% of the worlds unfrozen freshwater. The lake is a big resource for the planet and it has very unique plants and animals due to its isolation. Also due to the isolation, it has a high rate of endemic species. Lake Baikal was also the site of the first democratic movement in the Soviet Union. The Perestroika movement freedom of speech was started with movements based on environmental issues, such as the paper mill near Lake Baikal polluting the lake with its run off. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In general terms, discuss the ways in which the change from a centrally planned economy to a more market based economy has affected career options and standards of living for the elderly, young professionals, unskilled laborers, members of the military, women, and former government bureaucrats. The collapse of the Soviet Union started the change to a market driven economy. Everyone had to learn what capitalism was and had to do so very quickly, which was not an easy process. Changing to a market driven economy was great for those who had an advantage, such as the previous leaders in the Soviet Union. They were able to take over state run businesses as their own and become wealthy. Others, like young professionals, unskilled laborers etc....lost their jobs and unemployment skyrocketed. With the unemployment so high, the standard of living for these workers worsened. 3. Discuss the declining birthrate in Russia and other countries in the region. What do you think the impact of this decline can have on neighboring countries and regions? Are similar declines happening elsewhere? The declining birthrate is seen all throughout Russia and neighboring countries. A lot is due to many choosing to have less children and also the high mortality rate of younger men. It seems that Europe and the United States are also seeing a decline in the birthrate, but not as bad as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Better Than Hum Why Robots Will-And Must Take Our Jobs Nearly all jobs, blue and white collar alike, will eventually be automated by a worker who never makes mistakes, never needs to stop working, and can learn faster than any human alive. This is the future we face, according to Kevin Kelly, writer of Better Than Human: Why Robots Will And Must Take Our Jobs. Kelly discusses the future of machines doing our work for us. Kelly believes that all jobs currently occupied by humans will eventually be taken over by machines, and humans will benefit from the results. While Kelly presents engaging arguments, his examples and writing style are ineffective in fully demonstrating his view of automation in the workplace. One flawed example Kelly uses to prove his point is the use of autopilot on an airliner, saying that the pilot is largely unnecessary because the autopilot is perfectly capable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He even addresses the reader ( Dear Reader ) directly to tell them that their job will certainly be taken over by machines, whether they like it or not. Even though the article is meant to be educational, its nature is almost taunting. Kelly s article, white thought provoking, makes sweeping generalizations and talks down on the reader, both of which weaken his argument. While reading, I wondered if the career path I want to go into, automotive design, could be automated. The thing with automotive design is that it s such a delicate blend of art and hard science. A computer could already design a car to be perfectly aerodynamic and generate the perfect amount of downforce, but cars are still designed by humans, because people can insert graceful (cosmetic) design motifs and aggressive body lines that a computer wouldn t bother with. Computers have a specific way of tackling problems, and to assume that that way of problem solving would apply to nearly every career out there is simply ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Reflection On Meditation And Visualization Meditation And Visualizing: Review. Most people hear about meditation from their families and friends but have little knowledge of what the practice actually entails. Before joining my Masters Program in the field led by my experienced and knowledgeable Professor Sophie Sore, I was both nervous and excited. I had no prior experience with meditation neither visualization and had was still unsure of how the learning experience would turn out. My friends had made comments that they had lost their minds after their meditation experience. With no doubt, this made me skeptical about the program but my intuition led me to one of the greatest and enlightening paths that I would ever undertake in my life. • 8. Economic Traditionalism As The Antithesis Of Economic... Economic traditionalism is essentially the antithesis of modern capitalism. Within this framework, work was viewed as a necessary evil (Kalberg 2011a: p. 418). It was simply the means through which people acquire the economic needs necessary for survival. Therefore, work and money did not take precedence over one s family, community, and leisure. The tasks themselves were based on custom and tradition, and were independent of the individual himself. That is, work did not constitute one s self identity. Luther was an extreme proponent of this ideology. He was suspicious of wealth and asserted that money should only be enough to live a life of integrity. Weber ([1905] 2011) describes Luther s reservation: Luther was convinced that people of every status can become saved...Therefore, the striving for material gain that goes beyond one s own needs, Luther argues, must be a symptom of one s lack of grace. Indeed, because striving for gain appears to be possible only at the expense of others, this pursuit must be viewed as an unequivocal abomination. (P. 103) Thus, Luther was critical of those who utilized work to feed their avarice. Instead, asceticism was highly valued; as people were advised to renounce gluttony and avoid succumbing to their physical and sensual pleasures. Luther was also wary of those who attempted to venture outside of their calling. This was viewed as tinkering with God s will and undermining His plan for the individual s salvation. • 10. Bourdieu Marx And Durkheim, Political Economy With... Bourdieu connects Marx with Durkheim, political economy with cultural studies. He distinguishes cultural production from other economic manufactory field using the interlocking conceptual tools of field, habitus and capital. The conceptual categories Bourdieu brought to cultural analysis have since shaped the study of what I find valuable to my analysis. Bourdieu described media, art, academic settings, and various areas of intellectual production, as fields that appear to be autonomous. However, he showed that this autonomy was only apparent and would change according to the expansion or regulation of capital and that it had its own internal relations which were economic in nature. Bourdieu integrates the three concepts of field, habitus and cultural capital into a system analysis on cultural production. He summarizes this relation using the following equation: [(habitus)(capital)] + field = practice. It means that practice results from relations between one s dispositions (habitus) and one s position in a field (capital), within the current state of the social arena (field) (Bourdieu, 1986, p101). Therefore, in order to study the practices of cultural workers, we need to first know field, habitus, and capital. 1) A field is not a concrete place, but rather a social spatial arena and a relationship that is always being negotiated. It is a system of social positions where agents are located. Fields interact with each other, but most are subordinate to the larger field ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Acceptance Of Oneself In Walt Whitman s A Song Of Myself A Song of Myself; a poem of learning to love yourself A Song of Myself by Walt Whitman portrays many things, but the most overwhelming message is the acceptance of oneself and their surroundings. Whitman used this poem as an ode to life, to give a sense of liberation from conformity. Whitman begins the poem with I celebrate myself, in order to show how the poem is a celebration not only for life but of the acceptance for oneself. Not only does Whitman accept himself, he urges others to do the same. In the poem he states, For every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you. This sentence means that Whitman and the readers can both succeed, and also means both figures can accept themselves. Whitman also talks about how easy it is to step away from conformity and be himself, saying that the Me is nearest and easiest to him. Josh Cohen Mrs. Hallstrom English Honors 4 8 May 2016 Slaughterhouse Five and its Depiction of Key World War II Events Kurt Vonnegut s Slaughterhouse Five is an interesting but complicated novel about a man bouncing through time and space. The novel is a satire with elements of science fiction, although Kurt Vonnegut incorporates into the plot some of his actual experiences as a World War II soldier and prisoner of war. Vonnegut s lead character and protagonist is Billy Pilgrim, a person who time travels throughout the novel. Vonnegut brings the readers along on Billy s wild and unpredictable journey which goes in several different directions. While this complicates the story, Vonnegut keeps returning to the theme of war by returning Billy back to his time as a soldier during World War II. Vonnegut devotes significant portions of Slaughterhouse Five to the war theme, capturing the zeitgeist of World War II through vivid and highly accurate depictions of key events such as the Battle of the Bulge, the use of boxcars to transport prisoners of war, and the bombing of Dresden by the Allied forces. By transporting Billy back to the Battle of the Bulge, Vonnegut effectively captures the harsh realities of this significant and vitally important World War II event. Early in the novel, Billy is thrust into his regiment when it was in the process of being destroyed by the Germans in the famous Battle of the Bulge (Vonnegut 40). Living in a world that idolizes this stereotypical impression of success (and monetary worth) will inevitably be challenging for any individual to thoroughly comprehend the difference between his or her true self importance, versus the unrealistic expectations that are engraved in his or her illogical mind. • 25. Speech On Public Shaming The immediacy and fast pace of the internet can be magical, but it can also become a nightmare that ruins a person s life (Source C). The world believes that public humiliation is an effective punishment, but it is overused and ineffective. Public shaming is a dire term due to its high usage. Public shaming dates back to the 1500s. The Puritan society gave their people this type of punishment, as seen in Source A, The Scarlet Letter. They hoped that the sinner would show God their mercy. Now, in the 21st century, public shaming is still taking full effect because of social media, such as Instagram and Facebook. The victims that could not escape public shame are Monica Lewinsky, Justine Sacco, and Hester Prynne. If kids like Tyler Clementi get shamed to death then public shaming is getting dire because the consequences impact a person socially, professionally, and personally. First, public shame affects people socially. Source A claims that: What do we talk of marks and brands, whether on the bodice of her gown, or the flesh of her forehead? (Source A 36). This quote was said at the beginning of The Scarlet Letter by one of the women outside the prison when Hester was released from prison. The quote shows that the townspeople have branded Hester for committing the sin of adultery and are shoving her away from society. This isolation from society is also shown in a quote from Is the Internet a Mob without Consequences? (by Nick Bilton). Source B notes that: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. The Sun Also Rises Modernism Analysis During the early twentieth century, the philosophical and artistic movement of Modernism permeated the world of literature. Thusly, Modernism, as a philosophy, is defined through the loss of traditional values and meaning in life; men, women and all people are isolated and alone, unable to fully communicate through language. Modernist writers portray the world as a harsh and unjust place in which their characters struggle alone with unrealistic and futile dreams. With this in mind, The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway is a novel that details the story of Jacob Barnes and his circle of friends. Jake does not feel religious, and this is what he deduces makes him such a rotten Catholic. He regrets this notion and this is a symptom of a much larger problem for Jake: he craves authenticity and spirituality and innocence, but he has been corrupted by the great war. It took not only his fertility but also his spiritual potency. Further proof of his desire for spiritual authenticity and purity is when he sees Pedro Romero, the young, talented, and captivating young Spanish bullfighter, in a bullfight. Jake ... • 30. The Role Of Hamlet Developed Through English And Russian... How has the character of Hamlet developed through English and Russian Theatre? Hamlet, the main character from one of the most famous Shakespeare s plays The Tragical Historie of Hamlet, Prince of Denmarke , is one of the most popular and well known characters around the world (it is very difficult to find a person who hasn t heard about him). William Shakespeare created an epic story about a young man, his way to revenge and his internal spiritual fight with his soul full of melancholy. The depth of the main character allowed different actors to show different ideas and ways of playing on a stage through playing his role. The performance history of Hamlet may be considered as an evolution of styles of playing. No play has been performed more frequently, especially in England, where this famous play was originally written. But The United Kingdom was not the only place where Hamlet became an iconic figure. In Russian culture Hamlet has always played an important, special role. Russian society has been using Hamlet as a mirror for years, finding in this character sometimes role model, sometimes reflection of its inner problems. The Russian Hamlet has always been defender of truth and fighter of freedom. His character represented every new period of Russian history (monarchy, communism etc.). On the other side Russian Hamlet has never been a weak and gutless man. It perfectly mirrors usual Russian political stance for centuries. I am going to consider how the style of ... • 31. The Mozart s Effect Theory Of The Mozart Effect There are numerous theories as to what factors may affect one s ability to perform adequately. The Mozart Effect theory was established by Rauscher, Shaw, and Ky (1993). The Mozart Effect refers to a set of research results indicating that listening to Mozart s music may stimulate a short term enhancement on the enactment of certain assignments. This theory supported that listening to music composed by Mozart would increase their ability to perform accurately on a both mathematical operation and spatial reasoning test. The researchers proposed that music lacking complexity or that is repetitive may interfere with your ability to execute the task effectively, rather than enhance, abstract reasoning (Rauscher, Shaw, Ky). Rauscher, Shaw, and Ky from the University of California Irvine conducted an experiment where they aimed to find a correlational relationship amongst music intellect and cognitions pertaining to abstract mathematical operations and that of spatial reasoning. This experiment was conducted on December 1993 and revolved around three different conditions, the Mozart sonata for two pianos in D major, a relaxation tape, and silence as the control group. A control group is constituted of participants who fail to attain any experimental treatment, this is particularly to associate the experimental group to the tangible example. Rappaccini s Daughter, By Susanna Rowson Literature has historically been a means of passing traditions down, providing entertainment, inspiring creative ideas, and transferring knowledge through several generations. In society, literature can be embraced for its innovation or condemned for the values it intently expresses against societal, political, and even religious views. Social criticism in literature is meant to directly or subtly call out the flaws in the social structure in an attempt to create awareness or evoke reforms. Many literary works invent characters who either gladly embrace gender and sexuality norms or are predisposed to them and live unconsciously, but are ultimately ruined in the end as a means to show the issue with definitive terms that categorize individuals.
