Missionary Trip To America Research Paper
By attending the missionary trip to South Africa, I have touched the lives of many just as they have for
me in their own ways. However, they may not even realize that they have changed my life for the
better. Some touches are like a ripple in the water; blending and mixing to create a beautiful harmony.
Others are like a splash. They transform people s lives with grace, mercy, and forgiveness; they bring
people closer. When one thinks of a mission trip, what is the general assumed illustration? A group of
Christians reconstructing non believers into religious disciples? Churches being built so that
worshippers have someplace to go to interact with Christ? For me, a mission trip can be that or
something small, like we seemed to do while recently visiting Southern Africa. Visiting South Africa
provided an extraordinary experience for me. One thing I realized is how Christians can change the
world by working together, rather than as an individual not that they ... Show more content on

What is the purpose of this when we can just read scriptures or listen to preachers from the comfort of
our homes? Be that as it may, Christians go to church in order to come together and to try to help each
other mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. We go to church for fellowship, discipleship,
and for evangelism. Evangelism is all about spreading the gospel to the world, which the church helps
to do firsthand. The gospel has a lot of teachings, but they cannot all be summed up by the church. In
Africa, my eyes were opened to the realization that schools and hospital can also help partake in
making the world a better place. While I was aware of this when in states, I was also partially blinded.
In my hometown, especially when sickness happens, I have so often seen Jesus be dismissed when
illness occurs; and while this may too be the case in some citizens in Africa, the stories that I heard in
regards to ailment where about faith and

A Report On The Australian Banking Industry
a.
The Australian banking industry resembles an oligopoly with a few players playing a key part. This is
evident from the share of top 5 banks in total housing loans standing at almost 73%, and it has risen
over time from 60%. This shows that loans are more concentrated with top 5 banks now.
The global financial crisis has led to a more concentrated market with lesser competition , lesser
number of banks with housing loans and a consequent increase in share of total housing loans with the
top 5 banks mentioned in the article.
Experts point out that, The pricing power of the four major banks reflects the strength of their brands
and their dominant market positions. The big banks charge more for loans and less for deposits than
smaller banks, hence their average interest margin is 2.2 per cent, compared with the 1.8 per cent
margin of the regional banks.
More evidence comes from a PWC report that states that concentration levels have increased since the
onset of GFC . The rise in HHI is proof of rising oligopolistic tendencies in this sector after 2008. b. A

20th Century Workers
There were many problems between the worker and large corporation during the turn of the 20th
century. Large corporations were taking advantage of the worker by paying him lower than the livable
wage, giving him long hours, dangerous workplaces, and few benefits. The interests of the worker
were advanced by boycotts, strikes, and unions because they all helped the worker be on even terms
with their employers.
The interest of workers were advanced by boycotts, strikes, and unions. Books like The Jungle
exposed the horrible practices done by the meat packing plants in Chicago which then led to the Pure
Food and Drug Act. The Pure Food and Drug Act made the working conditions at the meat packing
plants better for the workers and for the public.

Narrative Voice of Frederick Douglass
Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass
The tone established in the Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass is unusual in that from the
beginning to the end the focus has been shifted. In the beginning of the narrative Douglass seems to
fulfill every stereotypical slavery theme. He is a young black slave who at first cannot read and is very
naïve in understanding his situation. As a child put into slavery Douglass does not have the knowledge
to know about his surroundings and the world outside of slavery. In Douglass narrative the tone is first
set as that of an observer, however finishing with his own personal accounts. When first introduced to
Douglass and his story, we find him to be a young slave boy filled with ... Show more content on

Douglass states before narrating any of the peculiar circumstances, I deem it proper to make known
my intention not to state all the facts connected with the transaction. In doing so Douglass assumed
the narrative would lose the interest of its readers, however the mere thought of a slave man risking
his life for a chance to freedom is able to recapture the interest of any facts left out. In the conclusion
of the narrative Frederick Douglass contemplates escaping, weighing it against the idea of leaving all
of his friends. Douglass says, I had a good number of warm hearted friends in Baltimore, friends that I
loved almost as I did my life, and the thought of being separated from them forever was painful
beyond expression. Such a personal tone and accounts make the reader truly see the change Douglass
has gone through since the beginning of the narrative. The language difference from the beginning up
until the conclusion can be based solely on spirit and education. From the start Douglass did not know
much about anything and spoke like he should have, from a child s view. This includes a child s
inquisitiveness, demonstrated by his speaking of others more than himself. As he grows and matures,
and is even given the gift of an education the language changes dramatically to that of an educated
man. Speaking in an intellectual manner Douglass sees that his ability to read and write has truly set
him free. From the tone of a

Differences Of Abrahamic Religions
Throughout the duration of human history, one question has been omnipresent in the minds of
philosophers and common folk alike: Does god exist? While dozens of religions have been established
with unique and varying elaborations on this question, the three principal Abrahamic religions stand
out for their massive accumulations of devoted followers. And though the fundamentals of the
Abrahamic religions are inherently different, they all share similar ideology on the afterlife.
Furthermore, these three religions homogeneously stress the importance of prayer as a means to
achieve fulfillment. And although there are many parallel ideas and practices, these religions also host
an abundance of differences. Namely, the difference in the interpretation of the Old and New
Testaments. Moreover, Abrahamic religions even draw differences in their dietary restrictions. One of
the more interesting points of concurrence in the three major Abrahamic religions is the belief in an
afterlife. Though conditions of the afterlife in Abrahamic religions vary, Islam, Christianity, and
Judaism all emphasize the importance of staying in god s grace in order to ascend to a variation of
heaven after the physical body dies here on Earth. In these regions worshippers are promised post
mortal nirvana after death in exchange for their servitude in life. Conversely, in Christianity and Islam,
if a follower veers from the righteous path they are likely to wind up in hell. Hell being of course, the

The Importance Of Popular Religion
Popular religion over time has become very common, especially with how much our society focuses
on treating ordinary things as if they are religiously significant to our life. According to Robert
Ellwood, Popular religion can be considered a sector and a very important sector of popular culture.
Two forms of popular religion present themselves: the mainstream religion it is understood and
practiced on the popular level, and religious meaning embedded in ostensibly nonreligious popular
culture, such as making pop culture entertainers or cinematic heroes into religious icons (131).
Baseball has become a huge example of this. Last year, for the first time in 108 years, the Cubs won
the World Series. When this happened, the whole city of Chicago celebrated immensely for this huge
honor given to them.
The Cubs were rewarded for winning the series by being granted a parade in the city of Chicago.
Many things about the parade influenced religious significance. When it comes to religion, individuals
are given certain holidays to celebrate important days. For example, Christmas is a holiday that
celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ. Usually, adults are given off work, while children are given a
break from school to celebrate this day. This is how the parade was treated. The entire city of Chicago
gave students the day off to be able to go to the parade, although this day is not a holiday at all. The
parade is like a ritual in religion, because of all the things Chicago did that

Positive And Negative Effects Of Single Parent Families
The number children being raised in single parent households is continuously growing. There are
positive and negative effects for children that grow up in this type of a household. Children who only
live with one parent tend to have better financial and educational advantages. Single parent homes can
impact several aspects of a child s life. Children see their parent as being very independent, and often
they learn to be independent too. The parent raising the child has the biggest effect on the child. How
the child is raised can affect many different outcomes of the child s life (Kunz, 2015, April 15). One
big effect single parent households have is that one parent is absent. This can cause a child to perform
poorly in school. Generally, single parent households are run by the mother and the father is absent.
Often times when the parent is only receiving one income, they work more often. This can cause the
child to receive less attention and have less help with their homework. The effect that the other parent,
not living in the house, has on the child is huge. It is proven that children tend to do better in school
and in life in general when both parents are involved in their life. Only having one income in the
household makes it at risk for poverty. When children live in poverty it can have many emotional
effects on them. Some children feel abandonment, loneliness, sadness, and troubles with socializing or
connecting with others. Children also feel the emotions of low

Lord Of Flies Book Vs Lord Of The Flies
The Inner Beast Emerges
The beast that lies inside of us all shows what it can do when it has a chance too.
By Daniel Frankel
The Lord of the Flies is a 250 page novel written by Sir William Golding. It was first published in
1954 and since then, has become a worldwide success. A quote from Golding was The right
impression is the one that rises to the reader the first time he reads the book , This was perfectly suited
for his book, as his book was a best seller. The movie based on the novel Lord of the Flies was first
made in 1963 in black and white, then made again in colour in 1990 by Harry Hook. The movie has
many deviations from the book however the storyline is basically the same and proved a success by
grossing just under $14 million in the box office, making it a major film for the time period. Because
this novel was such a success schools all around are still studying it in senior English.
The Lord of the flies novel, starts at a reasonable pace and doesn t let the reader lose interest. Sir
William Golding writes very descriptively and creates the images very clearly. For example his hair
plastered to his forehead this gives the impression of heat, sweat, and steamy air. The story starts when
a group of British school boys are stranded on an uninhabited island. Trying to maintain structure, the
boys elect Ralph to be the leader, a position, Ralph, feels a duty as the eldest to fulfil. However, one of
the other boys Jack wants to also be the leader, and

There is another point , which is evident in the detective stories we have read. This is that the detective
seems to be an amateur and someone who doesn t like the Formal Police Service. Take Dupin for
example. He said this about the Parisian Police: The Parisian Police, so much extolled for acumen, are
cunning, but no more. This gives the reader the impression that Dupin doesn t like the Police and that
Dupin thinks a lot of himself. This is also apparent with Holmes.
There was a case in The Speckled Band when Holmes criticised the
Police because they did not search the room thoroughly. He said: We will have to search the room with
care to see what the Police have missed out. This clearly gives the reader the impression that
Sherlock does not like the Police.
The detectives also seem to be in a world of their own and often seem to have highly individual
personalities. We can see that Dupin
waffles quite a lot, when he speaks. Lets look at when he starts to talk about the people who have
heard the voice. He starts by saying:
That was the evidence itself . . . . and talks like this for the next four paragraphs. This tells me that, at
times. Dupin can talk a load of nonsense and he can be quite tedious. We can also see the detective s

The Freedom Of Bear Arms
One major issue in the United States today is the freedom to bear arms. There are split beliefs on this
issue. Some people are against people being permitted to have a firearm because guns kill people.
Other people are for being permitted to have a firearm because guns do not kill people on their own. It
is the person behind the gun pulling the trigger that kills a person. In this paper, I will discuss both
sides of this huge, nationwide issue.
The founding fathers, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Alexander Hamilton, John Jay, Thomas
Jefferson, James Madison, and George Washington, were the men that were the first to discuss about
this resolution. Here are a select few of their thoughts on gun control, A free people ought to be armed.

This means that we citizens should be permitted to hold a firearm and it shall not be taken or
confiscated from us.
Aaron Weiss, a combat veteran of Iraq, now a law enforcement officer, had some strong words to say
about the Safe Act and about people and their rights. He states, I gave up a lot for this country,
including my youth, and better men then me gave up a whole lot more so that all of you, myself
included, can enjoy the rights that are guaranteed to us in our Constitution and Bill of Rights. We didn
t go through all of that to come back and watch you surrender what we fought for happen based off of
the demented acts of two mad men. He is pretty much stating that our rights and freedom should not
be taken away just because of stupid people. Aaron is a strong supporter of being aloud to have a
firearm. For example, what would happen if you and your family were at home, someone broke into
your house, they had a gun, and you did not? It would be a lot easier for the burglar to get away
because he would not be scared of you as much. Now let us say you do have a gun. That changes
everything because either the burglar would be more scared of you and would try to hurry up and
escape, or if he was a real psychopath, he might try to shoot at you and your family.
People should have the right to carry a firearm everywhere they go, as long as they have a permit with
them. My English teacher, Mr.

After scanning the web, I wanted to know what some of the people around me thought of the word. I
first went to Mr. Farrow and asked him a few questions. My conversation with him was a bit scattered
and I found he had a hard time staying on topic, but he gave me some good viewpoints to his outlook
on courage. I began with How do you see this word affect your personal life, his first response to my
word was I m so sick of the word courage because it s so overused. From that statement I knew this
interview was going to be a lot different than the other because of how eccentric Mr. Farrow can be at
times. He then continued on by saying, I think the key to understanding courage is to think about it in

Essay on Unifying the Church
Introduction Miriam Webster s dictionary defines unity as the state of being in full agreement. When
one reads the Bible it is clear that God s will is for the church to be unified. In I Corinthians 1:10 the
Apostle Paul instructs the church to be perfectly joined together in mind and speech and to have no
divisions among them. Today we see various denominations, or as defined in Miriam Webster s
dictionary, religious organizations united in their adherence to its beliefs and practices. This raises the
question, where is this unified church that is described in the Bible? This paper will address the
Protestant doctrine of the invisible church. The invisible church are the people who are not only
outwardly religious but have also made a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This paper will also discuss how the invisible is indeed visible. The church is the temple of the Holy
Spirit and His power is made evident through the church. The church is God s means of instructing,
edifying, and unifying His people here on earth and is used to make the rest of the world believe and
in turn become members of the church. Each believer has a function in the body and is to depend on
each other in relation to their function assigned to them or given to them as a gift from the Holy Spirit.
As indicated in Colossians 1:18, Christ is the head of the body and the body is the church. The
purpose of the church is identified in 1 Corinthians 12 when Paul talks about the unity in diversity of
spiritual gifts and the unity in diversity of the body. There is no such thing as an isolated, solitary
Christian life. Upon the conclusion of this paper the reader will be able to make a distinction between
the concept of visible and invisible church. Also the reader will be able to identify how they are both
related and that, when perceived spiritually, cannot be explained antithetically. The church as a whole,
whether visible or invisible, is a part of God s ultimate purpose.
The Invisible Church The idea of the invisible church was first developed in depth by Saint Augustine.
Augustine became the bishop of Hippo in AD 396 and saw the churches under his jurisdiction divided
by heresy and many church members and leaders living unregenerate lives as the covetous,

Similarities Between Judith And Her Maidservant
The painting Judith and Her Maidservant with the head of Holofernes was painted by the Italian born
painter Artemisia Gentileschi. In this Baroque painting, it depicts a story from the bible about Judith, a
widow, tricking an opposing leader, Holofernes, during a war. Judith and her maidservant enter
Holofernes tent and have rounds of drinks. Over time, Holofernes becomes quite drunk and passes
out. While he is passed out, Judith and her maidservant decapitates Holofernes thus defeating the
opposing soldiers in the war. In the painting, it depicts specifically moments after Holofernes head
was fully decapitated and Judith attempting to hide what she just did. In Gentileschi s painting, there
are a few naturalistic qualities that make her piece ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The skin of the women fold nicely, for example around Judith s face and neck, the folds are rounded
and proportionate to her body and face. The folds of the tent s cloth and the clothes around the bodies
of the women are absolutely realistic, wrapping eloquently around their bodies, arms, and waists. For
example, on the maidservants arm her sleeves not only appropriately look rolled up but they also
atomically match the maidservant s arm. However, I feel like the realism is lost when it comes to the
candle and Judith s sword. They look quite dull compared to the human figures and cloth in the
painting, making them look very simplistic. The light used in the painting is done very well, showing
that there can only be so much light coming from one candle, which makes the lighting very natural.
In my opinion, the light represents the pure and misogynistic views towards women. These views see
women as people that can t do wrong, seeing women only as kind or maternal beings. The dim or unlit
parts of the painting, specifically the maidservant hiding Holofernes head, represents the potential of

Noise pollution cannot be fully eliminated but as stated before, it can be reduced to an acceptable

Design changes: Reduction of noise at the source such as exhausts from aircrafts and ground vehicles,
airframe noise and power plants via noise reduction technologies. Especially regarding aircrafts, they

St. Boniface and Catholicism in Germany
Prior to the work of St. Boniface in central Germany from 716 to 754 A.D., the local Hessian and
Thuringian people worshiped pagan gods and honored living things essential to daily life, such as the
oak trees of the surrounding forests, which provided everything from building materials to nuts for
food. Though Christianity had been introduced to this area, the current practice was actually heresy
because people practiced a blend of Christian and pagan beliefs and rituals. St. Boniface not only
returned Catholicism to Germany, but kept heresy, the Church s main challenge during this time
period, out of central Germany. St. Boniface s goal was to expand the Catholic Church in Germany,
making certain that that the political authorities were firmly committed to Christianity. He went
further, and was not only Pope Gregory s missionary to Germany, but also purified the faith of the
people, removing the culturally ingrained practices of paganism. During this time period, some
Germans didn t fully understand Christianity, and although many in Upper Hesse converted, they still
practiced their old pagan rituals. St. Boniface built schools and seminaries in Upper Hesse. The area
fully converted to Catholicism thanks to the teachings of faithful priests and teachers who were
brought in by Boniface to teach the full truth of the Catholic Church without aspects of the old pagan
beliefs or rituals included. The eighth century Germans used gods to explain the different things in

Gender And Gender Aspects Of Gender In Everyday Life
Gender in Everyday Life
Shyana Burks Diggins
Community College of Aurora
Gender in Everyday Life In today s culture, I see gender being a person s master status. In most
aspects of my life, I notice that gender overrides other statuses such as my race or occupation. I
believe gender does this because of the way it is instilled in every social institution. I imagine it is
hard to inquire about my experiences without it coming from a woman s perspective. It s not what it
means to be college educated, but what does it mean to be a college educated woman, and not what
does it mean to be black, but what does it mean to be a black woman. Parenthood is near impossible to
be understood without seeing it through a gender experience. Although gender is a social construction,
it dictates individuals in a way that I cannot imagine any other social concept could. As I recorded my
actions throughout the day, I realized that there are a lot of them that are dictated by my gender. I
recorded over 50 actions and I am sure that I could have recorded differently depending on the kind of
day. I recorded around 10 15 actions just from the daily aspect of getting ready and clothing. For
example, I thought I chose my clothing depending on how I felt that day, but I realized small things
like my choice of underwear was never of my volition. Depending on the kind of pants I wore, I
wanted to avoid a panty line not only for fashion s sake but because that will affect future interactions
with the other sex. With my experience, I see that men pick the underwear that will suit their comfort
level, like if they want to wear briefs for exercising or boxers for a less active setting. Some of my
actions I instantly knew were gendered, like my application of makeup to uphold a feminine standard
or even the change of inflection of my voice when I talk to customers on the phone. As a woman and a
consumer, I know that when I speak to a representative about an issue I expect empathy. A
representative conveys that through smiling through the phone . Supervisors and trainers at my job
admit that this trait is better accomplished by women because if we sound any other way we sound off
putting and ingenuine. This

The large population size and business investments presents a personnel and financial hazard to the
city. Kansas City is a major transportation and economic hub that is responsible for millions of tons of
cargo passing in and out annually worth trillions. The city is in the heart of the Midwest and is
vulnerable to tornadoes and snow storms. Man made disasters are also a constant hazard due to the
sports teams that attract tens of thousands of visitors. The Kansas City government identifies possible
risks and hazards they face by conducting a THIRA. The last publicly available THIRA was from the
year 2012 and was conducted by the Mid America Regional Council on Homeland Security. The
THIRA: lists a total of eight natural and man made disasters that the city believes is possible,
identifies goals and objectives in combating these threats, and indicates timelines for completing the
goals. The eight scenarios listed are: tornado, severe winter weather, HAZMAT release, IED/armed
terrorist attack, cybersecurity, emerging infectious disease, anthrax, and waterway bridges (KC, p. 1).
The commonality shared between the disasters that the city has identified is that they could potentially
affect a large percentage of the population. Consequently, they will require a joint response effort from
multiple agencies and possibly from multiple jurisdictions as well. The THIRA

Search For Truth In Letter To The Hebrews, By Socrates
Presocratic philosophers in their search for the truth caught glimpses of Divinity and the truth of
eternal life. This search culminated in Socrates, who through his lifelong search for truth gained an
image of the soul and eternal life similar to the catholic belief of eternal life. In the Phaedrus, Socrates
says that all divine souls go to feast at the banquet (Phaedrus 247b), they climb up and view a place
beyond heaven where there is a supreme divine being. What is in this place is without color and
without shape and without solidity, a being that really is what it is, the subject of all true knowledge,
visible only to intelligence (Phaedrus 247c). In his letter to the Hebrews, St. Paul speaks about things

Likewise, God in his creation left shadows of the Beatific Vision which point to truth in Natural
revelation. By searching for this truth, Socrates caught glimpses of those shadows. Even the truth
which he did reach, it was imperfect. Socrates speaks about a heavenly banquet where the immortal
souls go to feast. When they do that, they travel up, to the rim of heaven. Socrates saw a shadow of
truth beyond the pagan concept of heaven. He could discern a place where the gods went to feast. It
seems interesting that the souls went to feast in a place beyond heaven, but not to feast on food but to
feast on pure knowledge. In this banquet, the god s minds are nourished by intelligence and pure
knowledge, as is the mind of any soul. (Phaedrus 247c). Further, the souls are nourished not by
knowledge abstractly, but by a being that really is what it is (Phaedrus 247d), an embodiement of truth
and knowledge. This being beyond description is similar to Gods own divine revelation of himself as i

Riot Grrrl Essay
Take a moment and envision yourself accompanying your significant other at a highly anticipated
punk rock concert. Upon arrival, he immediately insists that you play the role of a good girlfriend by
holding his jacket while he and the rest of the male audience move up towards the mosh pit. You soon
find yourself pushed and shoved to the back of the room, the farthest distance away from the stage as
possible, along with hundreds of other good girlfriends as personified coat hangers. This was an issue
faced by many women in the early 90 s who were interested in the punk rock scene, yet were unable to
have their voices be heard, until now. Riot grrrl, a radical feminist movement that thrived in the
underground punk scene has challenged ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What the media fails to accurately portray is that feminists strive to promote equality for both women
and men. Utilizing feminism as their secret weapon to add diversity to the overly male punk scene, the
riot grrrls managed to successfully promote women s rights with politically charged tunes that
empowered women to make a change.
However, despite of its fabricated intentions, the media proposed a valid argument against the
movement: why the movement did not last over the years. One often overlooked aspect of Riot grrrl
was that although it claimed to revive the feminist appeal by standing up for ALL women, the majority
of its efforts seemed to appeal more in favor of middle class Caucasian women. Members with a
variety of ethnic backgrounds who identified themselves as riot grrrls felt that that their adversities
and struggles as both minorities and women were not equally put into perspective as much as those of
their counterparts. This flaw within the movement has negatively affected its social longevity and
overall appeal to a wider range of women, yet the dedication to spread awareness on intimate struggles
and successful establishment of a community within the movement have proven to still be both
effective as well as inspiring in today s modern society. Without a doubt, the riot grrrl movement took
the world by storm on a social and political level, but not entirely on the still prominently masculine

brings together in one profile the critical information needed to define order picking strategy. It is a

The Pros And Cons Of Immigration In America
There always has to be a restriction on immigration as the U.S can t handle millions of immigrants
that are either crime ridden, diseased, or just poverty stricken people but are sure to let in immigrants
who are seeking opportunity. During the 18 19 centuries, immigrants from around the world wanted to
come to America as it was the land of opportunity. Presidents like Woodrow Wilson set the bar for
immigration as he was a supporter of restriction but not selection. The U.S does not need these type of
people in the country as they give no benefit to the U.S. Of course not every immigrant is crime ridden
or diseased but that s why the U.S made special tests which can sift out the unacceptable immigrants
who will have a negative effect on the U.S and bring in the acceptable immigrants who could enhance
the U.S. As Woodrow Wilson once said, we have generously kept our doors open to all who were not
unfitted by reason of disease or incapacity for self support or such personal records and antecedents as
were likely to make them a menace to our peace and order or to the wholesome and essential
relationships of life. (Wilson Doc B). As many others wanted to pass a bill for immigrants to take a
test of their education but President Wilson rejected the bill as it was unfair to the immigrants as some
mainly come to the U.S for education. There still must be tests that not select certain immigrants but
restrict immigrants who are unfit to come into this country. There s a difference

Women Struggles During The 19th Century
Labarron Collins Professor Griffin ENG 251 02 25 September 2014 Women Struggles in the 19th
Century Since the beginning of time women have struggled to prove themselves to society so that
people understand they are just as good as men. However, society has made a mockery of women for
years. Using women for sex appeal and for personal gains. Women were those who stayed home
cleaning, took care of the children, and prepared meals for the family. This sounds quite familiar with
today s society, but women today aren t only limited to these things. Not only were women not
allowed to work outside of home, but voting was off limits also. On June 4, 1919 the 19th amendment
was passed by Congress. This honored all American women the right to vote. This Amendment was
approved on August 18th 1920. On account of women suffrage, women should be granted equal rights
politically and economically, especially after the hardship they faced. Because of their contributions to
society, women exclusively should be allowed to help the country grow at an economical standpoint
and politically while having the privilege of voting. At the beginning of the 19th century, the rights of
women were limited. She could not take custody of her children in the event of divorce (Muntone) .
This shows women had no power and men were in complete control. For example, today women
usually go through courts to fight for custody of their children after a nasty divorce. Back in the 19th
century this behavior

Of Mice And Men American Dream Theme Essay
Of Mice and Men has many recurring themes throughout. One of the main themes is the impossibility
of the american dream. There are many characters that showed the theme. The main characters George
and Lennie showed it. Also Candy and Crooks shared a similar dream. Another character that showed
the theme was Curley s wife before she died . The impossibility of the american dream is a major
theme in Of Mice and Men. Lennie and George show this theme very well. They have probably the
biggest dream all. There dream is to own many acres and have a farm. The aslo want to own rabbits
(chapter 1). This dream travels throughout the book, for example one day candy overhears Lennie and
George talking about their dream and ask them if he can join (chapter 3). The next day Lennie talks to
crooks about their plans and dream for a farm and crooks shows some interest in joining (chapter 4).
This show the impossibility for an american dream because they are wishing to sustain themselves.

was looking to achieve the american dream. That also shows that the impossibility of the american

Constructivism And The Theory Of Constructivism
We have all been guilty of doing it, making assumptions about someone based on what we have seen
or been through. We see a person or an object and classify it as tall, wealthy, ugly, pretty, etc.
Categorizing what we see can be helpful but sometimes it can lead to stereotyping. But why do we
make assumptions? The theory of Constructivism can help us understand why we categorize things we
see into constructs and how these constructs can be harmful and how they can benefit or hurt us when
we communicate with others. The theory of constructivism helps explain how meaning can be
developed through interactions we have. The basis of the theory was started by George Kelly who was
a main author in the Personal Construct Theory. This theory discussed insight and how it can be
gained by people s interactions and perceptions and how they use their observations to make
attributions. It claimed that individuals understand the world around them by organizing and
recognizing people and events by their personal constructs they create. Personal constructs can be
explained as sets of opposites into which objects are classified (Lee 2016) such as rich poor, cheap
expensive, etc. This helped pave the way for constructivism, which reasons that people classify their
experiences into groups so they can help give meaning to it and can make sense of the situation.
According to Jessie Delia (1982), one of the main leaders in the theory, action is guided by context
relevant interactions and

The Rocket Man Theme
The Rocket Man
Well, it wasn t Mars, and it wasn t Venus, and it wasn t Jupiter or Saturn that killed him. We wouldn t
have to think of him every time Jupiter or Saturn or Mars lit up the evening sky. This was different.
(Bradbury 74). Doug s words in The Rocket Man goes on track of what the book s theme is.
Throughout The Illustrated Man, the theme is that decisions in life can be consequential. The theme of
decisions made in life can be consequential can be seen in the novel, The Illustrated Man by Ray
Bradbury of the story, The Rocket Man, where Dad s decision of going up to space affects his
relationship with his wife, how it has put him in a state of exhaustion, and where Dad ends up, it
changes Mother and Doug.
As the story begins, The Rocket Man, it is shown that the decisions made can form a bitter impact on
others. It is revealed in the text of the story, that Mother and Dad do not have the strongest
relationship. In the beginning, Mother shows an obvious disinterest towards the thought of Dad
travelling to space, then coming back to Earth every three months. It s not only because she asked
Doug for help to convince Dad to stay in space, but she also says certain phrases that represent her
disinterest. Once she said the light was too strong at night. But there s no moon this week, I said.
There s starlight, she said. (Bradbury 67). Bradbury portrays Mother in this conversation as a
dispirited person. Someone who is worn down from not seeing her

Summary Of Immigrant Kids By Russel Freedman
Russell Freedman wrote the article immigrant kids to educate people about immigrants and what their
life was like. This story tells what immigrant went through and what they did to get to America. He
has very good technique and shows very good images and great sources. He also wrote some very
shocking and also very surprising facts.
In 1880 immigrant kids traveled from Europe to America. They went to Ellis Island which is in New
York City. When they got Ellis Island hey had to get examinations to check if they have contagious
infections or disease. The would grab their eyelids and pull it up and peer beneath it. Most of the past
but the ones who didn t have to undergo a more thorough medical exam. The others that pass went to
go register where they get a question with an interpreter if they need it. They asked questions like
what is your name or can you write or how much money do you have with you. Some of them were
really flustered and confused they couldn t answer some of the questions, so they let them rest and try
again another time. About one out of five was detained and held against their will because they couldn
t answer some of the questions in the examination.

Unexpectedly Important Characters in House of the Spirits...
Isabel Allende in House of the Spirits portrayed many seemingly minor characters that ended up
having a greater role than expected. One of the unexpected characters was Alba. Despite the fact that
Alba was not born until chapter nine, she played a significant role in the plot of the story and character
dynamics of the Trueba family and other strong men and women. This then lead to the fact that
Allende built up powerful and outspoken personalities to ultimately create one strong character, Alba,
who finished the novel with a shocking and hopeful ending. Alba was brought into the world as a

Extrinsic Allergic Alveolitis ( Hp ) Is An Inflammatory...
Abstract Hypersensitivity pneumonitis (HP), also known as extrinsic allergic alveolitis, is an
inflammatory lung disease caused by repeated inhalation of antigens in the sensitized population, and
presents with allergic inflammation in the alveoli and bronchioles. It is traditionally classified into
acute, subacute and chronic forms, but the criteria for such classification are often unclear. Immune
complexes and lymphocytes mediate the inflammatory process of HP, which leads to high cell count
in bronchoalveolar lavage. The risk factors of HP are not completely clear, but both genes and
environment are probably involved in the initiation of HP. Removal of antigens is the best way to
prevent and manage HP. Finally two common forms of occupational HP, metalworking fluid induced
HP and hot tub lung, are reviewed. Hypersensitivity pneumonitis (HP) is an inflammatory lung disease
that is sometimes called extrinsic allergic alveolitis. Considering the disease also affects bronchioles,
however, the name of HP seems more accurate and universally accepted (Quirce et al., 2016). HP, of
which farmer s lung was the earliest discovered, is induced by repeated inhalation of antigens in the
sensitized population, and presents with allergic inflammation in the alveoli and bronchioles (Chmelik
et al., 1974; Johansson et al., 2001). However, this kind of allergic response is NOT IgE mediated as
in the case of many allergic diseases. It should be borne in mind as the discussion of HP

clients tend to push away the people that will or are supporting them. But they welcome people who

Guidelines For Writing A Pte Essay
PTE Academic Test Taking Strategies
Write essay
This is a long answer item type that assesses writing skills and requires you to write a persuasive or
argumentative essay on a given topic.
You will have 20 minutes to plan, write and revise an essay about the topic below. Your response will
be judged on how well you develop a position, organize your ideas, present supporting details, and
control the elements of standard written English. You should write 200 300 words.
Some people think placing advertisements in schools is a great resource for public schools that need
additional funding, but others think it exploits children by treating them as a captive audience for
corporate sponsors. Choose which position you most agree with and ... Show more content on

To focus your ideas, you should first try to think of one strong sentence to sum up the main argument,
then think of one strong opening sentence and one strong closing sentence. Once you have done this,
you can add details and supporting points to expand the sentence that sums up the main argument to
create the body of your essay. You can then develop the opening sentence to create the introduction
and the closing sentence to create the conclusion. To practice this strategy, do the following activities:
Look at Item 1 and decide which point of view you most agree with. Now write the topic and your
point of view at the top of the writing space. Then write the following in a column on the left:
Introduction (presentation of topic, argument and challenge to argument) Main body (details
disproving the challenge to the argument, details supporting own point of view) Conclusion
(restatement of argument and supporting claim)
Spend a few minutes brainstorming ideas. Write your ideas next to the most appropriate sections of the
essay. (e.g., Introduction: advertising in schools = great idea for school funding; Main body: many
schools underfunded, controlled advertising could bring in needed money, students/teachers could
vote on which companies are allowed to advertise, schools do not need to accept advertising from
inappropriate companies, ...Conclusion: controlled advertising in schools could be very beneficial ...)
Having summed up the main argument and opening and closing

  • 2. Missionary Trip To America Research Paper By attending the missionary trip to South Africa, I have touched the lives of many just as they have for me in their own ways. However, they may not even realize that they have changed my life for the better. Some touches are like a ripple in the water; blending and mixing to create a beautiful harmony. Others are like a splash. They transform people s lives with grace, mercy, and forgiveness; they bring people closer. When one thinks of a mission trip, what is the general assumed illustration? A group of Christians reconstructing non believers into religious disciples? Churches being built so that worshippers have someplace to go to interact with Christ? For me, a mission trip can be that or something small, like we seemed to do while recently visiting Southern Africa. Visiting South Africa provided an extraordinary experience for me. One thing I realized is how Christians can change the world by working together, rather than as an individual not that they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What is the purpose of this when we can just read scriptures or listen to preachers from the comfort of our homes? Be that as it may, Christians go to church in order to come together and to try to help each other mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. We go to church for fellowship, discipleship, and for evangelism. Evangelism is all about spreading the gospel to the world, which the church helps to do firsthand. The gospel has a lot of teachings, but they cannot all be summed up by the church. In Africa, my eyes were opened to the realization that schools and hospital can also help partake in making the world a better place. While I was aware of this when in states, I was also partially blinded. In my hometown, especially when sickness happens, I have so often seen Jesus be dismissed when illness occurs; and while this may too be the case in some citizens in Africa, the stories that I heard in regards to ailment where about faith and ... • 3. A Report On The Australian Banking Industry a. The Australian banking industry resembles an oligopoly with a few players playing a key part. This is evident from the share of top 5 banks in total housing loans standing at almost 73%, and it has risen over time from 60%. This shows that loans are more concentrated with top 5 banks now. The global financial crisis has led to a more concentrated market with lesser competition , lesser number of banks with housing loans and a consequent increase in share of total housing loans with the top 5 banks mentioned in the article. Experts point out that, The pricing power of the four major banks reflects the strength of their brands and their dominant market positions. The big banks charge more for loans and less for deposits than smaller banks, hence their average interest margin is 2.2 per cent, compared with the 1.8 per cent margin of the regional banks. Narrative Voice of Frederick Douglass Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass The tone established in the Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass is unusual in that from the beginning to the end the focus has been shifted. In the beginning of the narrative Douglass seems to fulfill every stereotypical slavery theme. He is a young black slave who at first cannot read and is very naïve in understanding his situation. As a child put into slavery Douglass does not have the knowledge to know about his surroundings and the world outside of slavery. In doing so Douglass assumed the narrative would lose the interest of its readers, however the mere thought of a slave man risking his life for a chance to freedom is able to recapture the interest of any facts left out. In the conclusion of the narrative Frederick Douglass contemplates escaping, weighing it against the idea of leaving all of his friends. Douglass says, I had a good number of warm hearted friends in Baltimore, friends that I loved almost as I did my life, and the thought of being separated from them forever was painful beyond expression. Such a personal tone and accounts make the reader truly see the change Douglass has gone through since the beginning of the narrative. The language difference from the beginning up until the conclusion can be based solely on spirit and education. From the start Douglass did not know much about anything and spoke like he should have, from a child s view. This includes a child s inquisitiveness, demonstrated by his speaking of others more than himself. As he grows and matures, and is even given the gift of an education the language changes dramatically to that of an educated man. • 6. Differences Of Abrahamic Religions Throughout the duration of human history, one question has been omnipresent in the minds of philosophers and common folk alike: Does god exist? While dozens of religions have been established with unique and varying elaborations on this question, the three principal Abrahamic religions stand out for their massive accumulations of devoted followers. And though the fundamentals of the Abrahamic religions are inherently different, they all share similar ideology on the afterlife. Furthermore, these three religions homogeneously stress the importance of prayer as a means to achieve fulfillment. And although there are many parallel ideas and practices, these religions also host an abundance of differences. Namely, the difference in the interpretation of the Old and New Testaments. Moreover, Abrahamic religions even draw differences in their dietary restrictions. One of the more interesting points of concurrence in the three major Abrahamic religions is the belief in an afterlife. Though conditions of the afterlife in Abrahamic religions vary, Islam, Christianity, and Judaism all emphasize the importance of staying in god s grace in order to ascend to a variation of heaven after the physical body dies here on Earth. In these regions worshippers are promised post mortal nirvana after death in exchange for their servitude in life. • 7. The Importance Of Popular Religion Popular religion over time has become very common, especially with how much our society focuses on treating ordinary things as if they are religiously significant to our life. According to Robert Ellwood, Popular religion can be considered a sector and a very important sector of popular culture. Two forms of popular religion present themselves: the mainstream religion it is understood and practiced on the popular level, and religious meaning embedded in ostensibly nonreligious popular culture, such as making pop culture entertainers or cinematic heroes into religious icons (131). Baseball has become a huge example of this. Last year, for the first time in 108 years, the Cubs won the World Series. When this happened, the whole city of Chicago celebrated immensely for this huge honor given to them. The Cubs were rewarded for winning the series by being granted a parade in the city of Chicago. Many things about the parade influenced religious significance. When it comes to religion, individuals are given certain holidays to celebrate important days. For example, Christmas is a holiday that celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ. Usually, adults are given off work, while children are given a break from school to celebrate this day. This is how the parade was treated. The entire city of Chicago gave students the day off to be able to go to the parade, although this day is not a holiday at all. • 8. Positive And Negative Effects Of Single Parent Families The number children being raised in single parent households is continuously growing. There are positive and negative effects for children that grow up in this type of a household. Children who only live with one parent tend to have better financial and educational advantages. Single parent homes can impact several aspects of a child s life. Children see their parent as being very independent, and often they learn to be independent too. The parent raising the child has the biggest effect on the child. How the child is raised can affect many different outcomes of the child s life (Kunz, 2015, April 15). One big effect single parent households have is that one parent is absent. This can cause a child to perform poorly in school. Generally, single parent households are run by the mother and the father is absent. Often times when the parent is only receiving one income, they work more often. This can cause the child to receive less attention and have less help with their homework. The effect that the other parent, not living in the house, has on the child is huge. It is proven that children tend to do better in school and in life in general when both parents are involved in their life. Only having one income in the household makes it at risk for poverty. When children live in poverty it can have many emotional effects on them. Some children feel abandonment, loneliness, sadness, and troubles with socializing or connecting with others. There was a case in The Speckled Band when Holmes criticised the Police because they did not search the room thoroughly. When one reads the Bible it is clear that God s will is for the church to be unified. Today we see various denominations, or as defined in Miriam Webster s dictionary, religious organizations united in their adherence to its beliefs and practices. The church is God s means of instructing, edifying, and unifying His people here on earth and is used to make the rest of the world believe and in turn become members of the church. Each believer has a function in the body and is to depend on each other in relation to their function assigned to them or given to them as a gift from the Holy Spirit. As indicated in Colossians 1:18, Christ is the head of the body and the body is the church. The purpose of the church is identified in 1 Corinthians 12 when Paul talks about the unity in diversity of spiritual gifts and the unity in diversity of the body. There is no such thing as an isolated, solitary Christian life. Upon the conclusion of this paper the reader will be able to make a distinction between the concept of visible and invisible church. However, I feel like the realism is lost when it comes to the candle and Judith s sword. They look quite dull compared to the human figures and cloth in the painting, making them look very simplistic. The light used in the painting is done very well, showing that there can only be so much light coming from one candle, which makes the lighting very natural. I imagine it is hard to inquire about my experiences without it coming from a woman s perspective. As I recorded my actions throughout the day, I realized that there are a lot of them that are dictated by my gender. I recorded over 50 actions and I am sure that I could have recorded differently depending on the kind of day. I recorded around 10 15 actions just from the daily aspect of getting ready and clothing. For example, I thought I chose my clothing depending on how I felt that day, but I realized small things like my choice of underwear was never of my volition. Depending on the kind of pants I wore, I wanted to avoid a panty line not only for fashion s sake but because that will affect future interactions with the other sex. With my experience, I see that men pick the underwear that will suit their comfort level, like if they want to wear briefs for exercising or boxers for a less active setting. Some of my actions I instantly knew were gendered, like my application of makeup to uphold a feminine standard or even the change of inflection of my voice when I talk to customers on the phone. Upon arrival, he immediately insists that you play the role of a good girlfriend by holding his jacket while he and the rest of the male audience move up towards the mosh pit. You soon find yourself pushed and shoved to the back of the room, the farthest distance away from the stage as possible, along with hundreds of other good girlfriends as personified coat hangers. What the media fails to accurately portray is that feminists strive to promote equality for both women and men. Utilizing feminism as their secret weapon to add diversity to the overly male punk scene, the riot grrrls managed to successfully promote women s rights with politically charged tunes that empowered women to make a change. However, despite of its fabricated intentions, the media proposed a valid argument against the movement: why the movement did not last over the years. One often overlooked aspect of Riot grrrl was that although it claimed to revive the feminist appeal by standing up for ALL women, the majority of its efforts seemed to appeal more in favor of middle class Caucasian women. Members with a variety of ethnic backgrounds who identified themselves as riot grrrls felt that that their adversities and struggles as both minorities and women were not equally put into perspective as much as those of their counterparts. This flaw within the movement has negatively affected its social longevity and overall appeal to a wider range of women, yet the dedication to spread awareness on intimate struggles and successful establishment of a community within the movement have proven to still be both effective as well as inspiring in today s modern society. Without a doubt, the riot grrrl movement took the world by storm on a social and political level, but not entirely on the still prominently masculine world of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 28. The Pros And Cons Of Immigration In America There always has to be a restriction on immigration as the U.S can t handle millions of immigrants that are either crime ridden, diseased, or just poverty stricken people but are sure to let in immigrants who are seeking opportunity. During the 18 19 centuries, immigrants from around the world wanted to come to America as it was the land of opportunity. Presidents like Woodrow Wilson set the bar for immigration as he was a supporter of restriction but not selection. The U.S does not need these type of people in the country as they give no benefit to the U.S. Of course not every immigrant is crime ridden or diseased but that s why the U.S made special tests which can sift out the unacceptable immigrants who will have a negative effect on the U.S and bring in the acceptable immigrants who could enhance the U.S. As Woodrow Wilson once said, we have generously kept our doors open to all who were not unfitted by reason of disease or incapacity for self support or such personal records and antecedents as were likely to make them a menace to our peace and order or to the wholesome and essential relationships of life. (Wilson Doc B). As many others wanted to pass a bill for immigrants to take a test of their education but President Wilson rejected the bill as it was unfair to the immigrants as some mainly come to the U.S for education. • 29. Women Struggles During The 19th Century Labarron Collins Professor Griffin ENG 251 02 25 September 2014 Women Struggles in the 19th Century Since the beginning of time women have struggled to prove themselves to society so that people understand they are just as good as men. However, society has made a mockery of women for years. Using women for sex appeal and for personal gains. Women were those who stayed home cleaning, took care of the children, and prepared meals for the family. This sounds quite familiar with today s society, but women today aren t only limited to these things. Not only were women not allowed to work outside of home, but voting was off limits also. On June 4, 1919 the 19th amendment was passed by Congress. This honored all American women the right to vote. This Amendment was approved on August 18th 1920. On account of women suffrage, women should be granted equal rights politically and economically, especially after the hardship they faced. Because of their contributions to society, women exclusively should be allowed to help the country grow at an economical standpoint and politically while having the privilege of voting. At the beginning of the 19th century, the rights of women were limited. She could not take custody of her children in the event of divorce (Muntone) . This shows women had no power and men were in complete control. For example, today women usually go through courts to fight for custody of their children after a nasty divorce. • 31. Constructivism And The Theory Of Constructivism We have all been guilty of doing it, making assumptions about someone based on what we have seen or been through. We see a person or an object and classify it as tall, wealthy, ugly, pretty, etc. Categorizing what we see can be helpful but sometimes it can lead to stereotyping. But why do we make assumptions? The theory of Constructivism can help us understand why we categorize things we see into constructs and how these constructs can be harmful and how they can benefit or hurt us when we communicate with others. The theory of constructivism helps explain how meaning can be developed through interactions we have. The basis of the theory was started by George Kelly who was a main author in the Personal Construct Theory. This theory discussed insight and how it can be gained by people s interactions and perceptions and how they use their observations to make attributions. It claimed that individuals understand the world around them by organizing and recognizing people and events by their personal constructs they create. Personal constructs can be explained as sets of opposites into which objects are classified (Lee 2016) such as rich poor, cheap expensive, etc. This helped pave the way for constructivism, which reasons that people classify their experiences into groups so they can help give meaning to it and can make sense of the situation. According to Jessie Delia (1982), one of the main leaders in the theory, action is guided by context relevant interactions and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the beginning, Mother shows an obvious disinterest towards the thought of Dad travelling to space, then coming back to Earth every three months. It s not only because she asked Doug for help to convince Dad to stay in space, but she also says certain phrases that represent her disinterest. Once she said the light was too strong at night. • 38. Extrinsic Allergic Alveolitis ( Hp ) Is An Inflammatory... Abstract Hypersensitivity pneumonitis (HP), also known as extrinsic allergic alveolitis, is an inflammatory lung disease caused by repeated inhalation of antigens in the sensitized population, and presents with allergic inflammation in the alveoli and bronchioles. It is traditionally classified into acute, subacute and chronic forms, but the criteria for such classification are often unclear. Immune complexes and lymphocytes mediate the inflammatory process of HP, which leads to high cell count in bronchoalveolar lavage. The risk factors of HP are not completely clear, but both genes and environment are probably involved in the initiation of HP. Removal of antigens is the best way to prevent and manage HP. Finally two common forms of occupational HP, metalworking fluid induced HP and hot tub lung, are reviewed. Hypersensitivity pneumonitis (HP) is an inflammatory lung disease that is sometimes called extrinsic allergic alveolitis. Considering the disease also affects bronchioles, however, the name of HP seems more accurate and universally accepted (Quirce et al., 2016).
