Ishmael Beah has been through just about everything a soldier in can experience while in war,
and he wants to show how war is not a good solution. If we do not take what he says into account,
loved ones may be taken from us and have to experience what he once did as a soldier. Or worse,
our loved ones could be killed by one of the many destructions caused by war. The blood shed on
the battlefields of warcould be our own if people don t listen to what Beah is trying to tell about
war. Beah uses the image of blood throughout this book to show why war is not a good answer.
He could have lessened the image of blood if he wanted his take on war to be portrayed differently.
Blood was chosen as the image because the main purpose of war is to prevent future blood shed
from occurring, but it really just creates more casualties and more blood shed. By looking at the
way Beah portrays the image of blood in A Long Way Gone , one can see that his view on war is
not a positive one, which is important because the way Beah depicts war is vital to Beah s story

be contributed to water quality, habitat, and history of disturbance (Lingeiro et al. 2010). Creeks
and streams feed into rivers and other larger bodies of water, which provide food, water, and
other commercial and recreational services as well as a home to an array of plants and animals
which rely on clean water. The health of these smaller bodies of water can act as indicators for the
health of the larger watershed. Benthic macroinvertebrates have been used to assess the health of
aquatic environments. Quality analysis involves looking at benthic speciescomposition and
organization within the stream(Resh and Unzicke 1975). Different macroinvertebrates have differing
sensitivities to pollutant, with some being more susceptible to environmental toxins than others
(Metcalfe 1989). Such methods group macroinvertebrates in regards to their tolerance to pollution.

College students should be given information on composting in order for them to know the positive
effects. When students get to college, they are no longer under parental super vision. They do not
have an authority figure telling them how to sort their trash. Students are able to think for
themselves and make their own decisions. College is the perfect situation for students to change the
way they thing about throwing away their trash. Students may not have thought about compostingas
an option because they were never given the resources to partake in composting. If student know
how to compost and are given the resources, then there are opportunities students will jump up to

factors. The United States is the world leader in the increasing prison rate, in both as a percentage
