Response Of Intervention ( Rti ) Process
Response to Intervention Process Joey Veltri Reinhardt Univsersity Introduction The response to
intervention (RTI) process allows educators to respond to students academic and behavioral needs in
the classroom. Educators can respond to student challenges by using instructional interventions to
provide extra support to struggling students. An intervention is a type of instruction targeted to meet
the learning and/or behavioral needs of a student. Interventions are in addition to the general
classroom instruction. The interventions may vary in intensity. They can increase or decrease in
intensity as determined by students needs. Students are progress monitored by using checkpoints to
measure their performance. Progress monitoring is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Every student engages in high quality instruction in the classroom at the Tier 1 level. In Tier 1,
students get a daily opportunity to learn grade level curriculum and get basic differentiation to support
their needs. The grade level standards are taught using research based, best practices. Teachers may
work with small groups and provide hands on activities to make learning meaningful and relevant to
students. All students receive periodic assessments that allow the teacher to identify if they require
more intense support. Often times, schools will implement a schoolwide screening tool to benchmark
students and determine if they need supplemental instruction to meet grade level expectations. Data
collection from these assessments helps to guide teacher instruction and will also help to determine if
a student needs more support in one or more academic areas. RTI Pyramid Tier 2 If a student is
needing extra support in grasping grade level curriculum, they are moved into Tier 2. Tier 2 is the
second level in the RTI pyramid and allows for more support to a struggling student. The student will
still receive differentiated instruction just as they were given in the Tier 1 level. In Tier 2, a support
team including the classroom teacher, an early intervention teacher, and parents work together to
create a learning plan that works best for the student. Parents will be informed of their child s

Medea Feminist Analysis
I know indeed what evil I intend to do,/But stronger than all my [Medea] afterthoughts is my
fury,/Fury that brings upon mortals the greatest evils (Euripides 35). In Euripides play, Medea, he
shows what happens when one is victimized permanently for something that they had done in the past,
and shows the he shows the power of revenge. Jason is the victim in this tragic grouping of events.
Medea punishes him, because she feels that he wronged her, even though her gruesome plans were
much more sophisticated and horrid than Jason s acts against Medea. Some may argue that Medea
would be considered the victim of Jason s wrath and terrible acts against her. They may believe that
she was always innocent, and that everything bad that happened, ... Show more content on

In Medea s acts of rage, she victimizes Jason, and others around her. She was immune to the fact that
she was going to kill her children, because she was focused on getting revenge on Jason, and making
sure that he suffered. During Medea s encounter with Jason, Jason is shown slowly crumbling beneath
the pain and agony that Medea had placed upon him, by killing her children. At this point, Jason is
pleading for mercy, and begging for the children s bodies. You who have had the heart to raise a sword
against/Your children, you, their mother, and left me childless /You have done this, and do you still
look at the sun/And at the earth, after these most fearful doings?/ I wish you were dead (Euripides 43).
Jason had shown his weakness to Medea, and she took advantage of that by slaughtering her own
children, so that she would get revenge on Jason. This placed Jason in an even more vulnerable
position, because he had to live with no family or power, because Medea ripped it all away from him
in a matter of minutes. Jason s future had been brought to an abrupt stop, and Medea was to blame.
Medea became an outcast, because she not only murdered her children, she devised a horrific plan,
that called for her children to bring death to the princess and king. Medea had affected many people
negatively, including people in her own family. In her acts of anger or under her horrific plans, Medea
was bound to hurt someone. While Jason is looking for Medea after he hears about the slaughtering of
his children, he exclaims, For your own brother you slew at your own hearthside,/ And then came
aboard that beautiful ship, the Argo./And that was your beginning... /For the sake of pleasure in the
bed you killed them./There is no Greek woman who would have dared such deeds (Euripides 43).
Jason is insulting Medea for the fact

Las Vegas, The Original City Of Sin Essay
Las Vegas, the original City of Sin (Bull 2). Marketing campaigns flaunt the idea what happens in
Vegas, stays in Vegas (Bull 4). Now known for its attitude of permissiveness, especially regarding
sexual behavior, Las Vegas has grown tremendously from it s humble beginnings as a simple rail stop
between Los Angeles and Salt Lake City (Bull 2). In 1911, with a population of just over 2,000, Las
Vegas was incorporated and its first mayor elected. Fast forward twenty years, and the population has
almost quadrupled and gambling is legalized. Reminiscent of a perfect storm, the setting was ripe for
exploitation: Las Vegas was distanced from other towns or cities, the railroad allowed people to easily
travel, and legalized gambling opened up avenues for debasement. With it s remote location and
legalized gambling, it was inevitable that big time mobsters would come onto the scene. Additionally,
casinos were being erected, encouraging guests to spend money and drink liquor, thus leading to
uninhibited behavior. Furthermore, by providing workers in the oldest profession there would be yet
another way to line the pockets of the underworld figures who created the foundation for the Vegas of
today. Russell W. Belk has argued, the idea that Las Vegas provides forbidden fruit and guilty
pleasures;a vital part of the city s appeal (Bull 4). According to Hal Rothman, Las Vegas has a widely
accepted role as a place where generations of Americans have been allowed to self indulge

Sex Tourism in Colombia
SEX TOURISM IN COLOMBIA Sex tourism is a business of constant upward expands, that takes
different forms as countries change their laws to combat it. The economic globalization has made this
crime a global crime , and new methods of communication , travel deals at the lowest prices and
poverty are some of the phenomena that drive those seeking to commit such crimes or trade sex go to
destinations where they can get away without any of the law fall on them. There is a great
contradiction in terms talking about sex tourism, if this trade happens between adults and with the
agreement of both sides, organizations responsible for combating it, say it is a phenomenon that can
not be measured because it is supposed to be exercised freely. although we are aware that this is not
the reality, that many people sold their body for some food, and are simply slaves of poverty and have
no other option says Debora d Aleva , a member of ECPAT ( End Child Prostitution , Pornography
And Trafficking in children for sexual ministering purposes ),an ONG organization working to
completely eliminate child abuse in tourist destinations . The profile of the sex tourist , however , it is
increasingly clear in the reports prepared by this UNICEF dependent organization. For the most part
these are young people between 30 years old, professionals who have very good management of
internet and know to perfection how to commit crimes through this media and of course love sex .

Abstract
This operation improvement plan is to help improve the internal communication process at Toyota
between their employees and management. There has been a loss of ideas and knowledge, which is a
complete violation of their founding principles defined in the Toyota Way. With the suggested
recommendations, Toyota can once again reclaim its dominance in the world automobile market while
at the same time improving their operational efficiency and quality.

Toyota s Key Challenges
Toyota s information and decision making has been highly centralized. The result: Top management in
Japan has been less sensitive to the expectations of regulators, culture and politics in overseas markets,
and consequently, they have been slower to respond to local problems. The reality is that Toyota s
problems were not caused by a faulty production system but by poor management decisions (Cole,
2011, pg. 34). In the past, Toyota was a company that trained employees to embrace the Toyota Way
and pushed their employees to strive for continuous improvement and perfection. The upper
management at Toyota has strayed away from their core; founding principles that empowered their
employees and contributed to making them a successful automobile manufacturing juggernaut. A
major source for of their ongoing improvement and innovation has been from employees.
An analysis has been done for Toyota s management team, Appendix A, E and F, to show the root
causes and how these root causes affect the internal communication process of ideas, concerns and
knowledge between Toyota s upper management and its foreign based employees. To summarize the
problem into a statement: The Toyota Way and TPS places heavy emphasis teamwork, employee
empowerment and striving for continual improvement and perfection. To ensure these principles are
always understood and embraced, Toyota s management needs to be committed to making sure

Blackberry Picking Seamus Heaney Analysis
In Blackberry Picking, Seamus Heaney isn t just retelling an experience. He masterfully weaves in a
hidden lesson that becomes clear as the reader nears the end of the poem. His description of picking
blackberries is in itself a metaphor of one s childhood memories and their perception at the time. He
utilizes literary devices such as imagery, allusions and narrative point of view to set the mood, change
the tone and draw in his readers. Mr. Heaney also structures his poem into two different sections, with
each telling the story in a different tone with a different purpose behind it. However, what s more
impressive is his use of intense diction to layer the poem with emotion and imagery that services his
hidden message.
Seamus Heaney begins the poem by placing a time stamp on it. It begins in Late August a time for
harvest which lays the groundwork for the harvesting that will ensue in terms of setting. That
description places the reader in the right mood and mindset that Mr. Heaney builds on with his ...

For example, the way he describes his hands as being peppered with thorn pricks (15 16) and with his
description of the spoiled berries being like A rat grey fungus (18 19). He uses an intense description
to fully realize the image or to some degree the memory he wants the reader to picture. While his
language is intense it s never forceful, it s filled with passion but in a violent manner. He conveys his
experience in a romanticized manner like when he mentioned the blackberry s flesh was sweet like
thickened wine (5 6). However, he slowly moves away from the romanticized language and into a
more natural language. While his intense language doesn t fade, it changes along with the tone as the
poem transitions into the moral section. It changes in terms of its purpose. In the beginning, it sets an
image that would guide the reader along while in the end it more used to invoke

Belgium is accredited for the creation of the theatrical style, unrealistic theatre; although unrealistic
theatre is a blanket term incorporating Absurdist Theatre, Expressionism, Theatre of Cruelty and more.
Non realistic Theatre isn t restricted to traditionally recreating life on stage, but it investigates evasive
ideologies, intangible emotions and human existence; simply transforming reality. Addiction was an

This piece of drama conveyed the dramatic meaning (moral), The effect is of a background of
magnificence cheapened by commercialism. (O Neil, 1922). Generalised, masked wealthy characters
contributed to the dramatic meaning and symbolically emphasised their unawareness and carelessness
for the disadvantaged. Techniques which were present in this activity were manipulated, personalised
and incorporated into Addiction. In Addiction, Scene 8, masks were utilised to strip Darcy s family of
their identities and transform them into his memories. By masking his family members it allowed for
most of the focus to be on Darcy and during the final stages of the scene all three memories were
frozen creating a frozen tableau conveying the strong emotion of disappointment, thus establishing the
disappointing mood of the scene and engaging the audience.
Tension drives a situation which is directed by the focus; tension can be created through including
roles, characters surprise and mystery. Tension can be enhanced through the incorporation of
unrealistic conventions, thus engaging the audience. In Addiction tension was created during and after
conflict. These conflicts are caused by various characters which then is incentive for the plot. The
tension of relationships between the Angel and Devil was evident when Angel and Devil s

False Memories
Fact vs. Fiction: The Truth About False Memories
Memories are important cognitive processes that are utilized every day. Research indicates that
humans have both true and false memories. The question is: how do they differ? True memory enables
individuals to recall past experiences with little distortion, while false memory allows individuals to
recant situations and occupy any memory gaps with external information in order to truly believe that
an event has occurred. In a day and age where memory distortion or memory loss is quite common,
many people believe that it is quite easy to implant false memories. However, research has proven
quite the opposite. Although it is possible, planting false memories is a difficult, time consuming task,

Cryptomnesia is described as when a person thinks he or she has come up with a new idea, yet has
only retrieved a stored idea and failed to attribute the idea to its proper source (Gazzaniga et al., 2011,
p.305). This type of misattribution is contextualized in every day life by occurrences of unintentional
plagiarism. Unintentional plagiarism occurs very frequently and in most instances, is indistinguishable
because it encompasses the unconscious impact of memory.
The third category of misattribution is false recall and false recognition, which is when individuals
falsely recall or recognize items or events that never happened (Schacter, 1999, p.189). Considering
recognition and recall as they pertain to psychology, recognition is described as memories that do not
require a great deal of mental effort to attain information, where as recollections are memories that are
placed in long term storage and require a greater depth of processing. When analyzing false
recognition and false recall, false memories appear to stem from both an encoding and retrieval

Chicago By Carl Sandburg Analysis
Chicago, written by Carl Sandburg is a rousing piece of writing about the lives of people in Chicago
and about the city as a whole. Drawing from his working class roots, he built a raw boned poetry that
violated the poetic norms of the time he cast off inherited poetic diction and form and adopted an
exuberant free verse. The poem is a sordid love affair between a man and his tumultuous city with
Sandburg declaring his affinity for the Chicago and its people despite its downfall, via his anaphoric
stylization, juxtaposition, and anthropomorphisation of the city. To him, it is not just a chimpanzee s
playground, rife with crime, but also his home.
Within the second stanza, no anaphoric phrasing beyond they tell me appear, in hopes to ingrain the
negative connotation to which the outside world attributes to Chicago inside the reader. Each one
coupled with a phrase like, On the faces of women and children I have seen the marks of wanton
hunger (8), evoking a primordial distaste for the city in the reader, a bitterness as this city threatens the
livelihood of women and children. The phrases, disconnected from each other in terms of outright
sounds, kindling a feeling unlike that of the outside world, one of disappearing brilliance, of
melancholy, of a utter slumming. The city is in a tumultuous state, ununited, disconnected with
painted women under the gas lamps luring the farm boys (6) and killers roaming free in the streets (7).
However, immediately after Sandburg

Public Perception of Person s with Disability
Public Perception of Persons with Disability A Comparison of Two Movies: Rain Man (1988) and Of
Mice and Men (1981) Introduction Stereotypes constantly accompany different groups of people. This
is true of mentally handicapped people as well. Labels such as slow , stupid , ignorant , and even
dangerous are some stereotypical values that are disrespectfully bestowed on mentally challenged
people. (Lewis, 2006) The public is now able to view mentally handicapped conditions through the
media. Ideas gained from viewing various forms of media coverage of handicapped persons can prove
to be both positive and negative. I have chosen to do a comparison of two well known movies about

The ranch owner s daughter in law in Of Mice and Men is very compassionate and inquisitive towards
Lennie. She is very lonely and Lennie was willing to listen due to his infatuation with her beauty.
George had warned Lennie to stay away from her, as she would lead to something bad due to the
jealousy her husband exhibited toward her. The woman, however, appeals to Lennie s childish side
and she coerces him to be her friend. This proves to be a grave mistake in the end. Another similarity
between the two movies is the fact that the duos are living in search of their dreams. The dream in
Rain Man at first is based on the inheritance. Charlie s plan is to become Raymond s custodial
guardian in order to get his part of the money. As the story continues, Charlie comes to love and
respect Raymond as the brother he never knew. His question at the beginning of the story, Why didn t
somebody tell me I had a brother? was very symbolic of his perception. (Levinson, 1988) He made no
comment about the fact that his brother was in an institution, just the fact that he had a brother. The
dream the show hinges on after brotherly connections are made became one of family. Charlie wanted
to care for Raymond and help him succeed in life. Dreams George and Lennie also based their lives on
achieving a dream. Lennie would frequently ask Geoge to tell him bout those rabbits; how he s gonna

The Discovery Of The Indigenous Native Peoples
In 1492, when Columbus sailed across the Atlantic Ocean, he didn t anticipate the existence of the
indigenous native peoples that had inhabited the land for the past 10,000 years or more. Incidently,
Columbus didn t even consider that these people were native to the land or that he was on a new
founded continent. Colombus first considered them to be Indians from India but quickly he realized
his mistake. After gathering information and goods he returned home. In the 1500s Spanish
exploration led by conquistadors who led to the discovery of what would become known as the
Powhatan Indians after they found and kidnapped a young Algonquian boy. In 1607, the English
founded the colony of Jamestown in Virgina, just ten miles from the Powhatan capital of
Werowocomoco. The Powhatans were later forced to move their capital up the Chickahominy River to
Orapax to create distance between the Powhatans and the English settlers. The history between the
Powhatan Indians and the Europeans is a long one that passes through the early sixteenth century to
the late eighteenth century and even in the modern day era. Differences between the Europeans and
the Powhatans notoriously caused rivalry and conflict among them. The Algonquian speaking
Powhatan people were indigenous to the east coast of the North America. At it s largest, the
confederacy extended north of Alexandria along the Potomac River, south to the Neuse River in North

Cinematic Conventions In Jane Campion s Bright Star
Jane Campion s Bright Star (2009) is a film critically acclaimed for its use of cinematic conventions,
winning an array of awards such as the 2010 Australian Film Industry awards for Best

conventions as these to facilitate her exploration of the relationship between Bright Star s characters,
creating a film that, according to The Observer s Critic of the Year Philip French, is in a different

white dresses, and both sisters wear bonnets upon their heads. Such presentation of the Brawne sisters
is indicative symbolically of the closeness in their relationship that stems predominately from their
shared youth and maturity. Patterson creates a contrast to this presentation as eventually Fanny

more childlike qualities. Upon the near end of the film this costume alteration is apparent, particularly

Pet Ownership And Perceived Well Being
The researcher s hypothesis regarding pet ownership and perceived well being was not supported by
the data. Pet ownership was not related to perceived well being, even after controlling for the gender
of participants. The results of this study concurred with the results from Staats and colleagues (2006)
study. Both studies were unable to find a significant relationship between pet ownership and perceived
well being. However, unlike Staats and colleagues (2006) study, this study did not obtain information
on whether participants subjectively believed that pet ownership would improve their well being.
Future studies should incorporate this factor in order to understand the effect of positive psychology.
The results of this study conflicted with the other previous researches. As indicated by Jorm and
colleagues (2002), pet ownership was associated with longer survival rates in patients who had
experienced a heart attack. Unlike coronary patients, the participants of this study did not suffer any
medical conditions, and not to the researcher s knowledge, ever experienced a heart attack. Perhaps
patients who experienced a heart attack were more attached to their pets as a form of distraction from
any lingering effects of the episode.
Further, in the study conducted by McConnell and colleagues (2011), it was revealed that pet owners
experienced greater perceived well being, and were not as vulnerable to feelings of loneliness.
McConnell and colleagues (2011) had incorporated

The Effect Of Parent Child Relationships On Human Development
Carr and Cortina provide a powerful explanation of Self Psychology, Heinz Kohut and John Bowlby,
working independently, contributed to a paradigm shift within psychoanalysis. Their combined work
dramatically changed the way many psychoanalysts understand the effect of parent child relationships
on human development, as well as the very nature of psychopathology. This, in turn, transformed
clinical practice as their ideas spread and many analysts became more emotionally responsive,
creating a friendlier, more respectful therapeutic ambiance. (Carr Cortina, 2011, pg.42) Kohut was
able to notice patients who were not doing well with the classic Freudian theories and he began to
listen to those same patients who were suffering from low self esteem, lack of motivation and many
difficulties on social and sexual spheres. The presented patient s self concept includes the above
descriptions of what Kohut points out as well as, feelings of worthlessness, inadequacy, and
helplessness which pervades functioning in negative ways (Hepworth, Larsen, Rooney, Strom
Gottfried, 2011, p. 209). And some of that damaging thinking has led the patient to continue to self
harm and abuse substances because she feels that this is what she deserves and that it is too late to
start her outlook on over. The Guilty Man was also viewed very differently between Frued and Kohut.
Frued viewed it as, a person who was trying to negotiate id, ego and superego and how people felt
guilty about id

All Things Not Being Equal
All Things Not Being Equal An ongoing debate continues in the academic and scientific world of
psychology in regards to the measurement of hypotheses, theories, and phenomenon. For the
researcher, the argument is worrisome as well as tedious in nature. Most have the desire for the
greatest statisticians to arrive at a consensus or standard, and allow the remainder to return to research
business as usual. Very few if any researchers enjoy, comprehend, or desire to be knee deep in what a
p value really means, other than the significance of the effect is less than .05. A statistically significant
result allows for a positive hypothesis and a possible publication. However, an honest interpretation of
statistical data would be more apt to produce a flawed literary publication that could be less than
accurate. For this reason, psychology implores replication as the gold standard for research results.
Reliability and validity are the foundational aspects of psychological science; without replication,
there is little evidence to support the construct tested. Statistically speaking, results from research
must be available and empirically evaluated to determine their merit (Thomas Hersen, 2011, p. 9).
Thus, when new measures of statistical inference are used, the same evaluative process is applied. An
example opined from Iverson, Wagenmakers, and Lee (2010) offer a paradoxical example applied to a
new statistic that could not stand up to the scientific muster of replication.

Tay Sachs Disease In Children
Imagine giving birth to a beautiful seemingly healthy baby, the doctor wiping him or her off and
handing it to you. Two days later, the hospital discharges you, and you begin to spend the next 3
months adjusting your new baby to your home. Towards the 4 month mark you realize some serious
symptoms that are hard to ignore such as the inability to grow beyond his or her small figure., inability
to hold something like a spoon or even your finger, and lastly lack of eye contact. Scary as this
scenario may seem, at least 16 babies are diagnosed with Tay Sachs disease in United States every
year. Unfortunately, the diagnosed cases are only found in toddlers because, children with this disease
only survive to the age of 5 years of age.

How Scores Are Calculated And How We Can Use Them ! Essay
New blog post about how scores are calculated... and how we can use them! After reading Salkind
Chapter 5, I was surprised to see that I knew very little about how scores are calculated. A large
percentage of this chapter was new to me. For example, I had no idea how to calculate percentile.
Additionally, the terms quartile, decile, and stanines were new to me. Finally, I have heard of z scores
and t scores. However, prior to reading this chapter, I was unaware of how they were used. Several of
the terms defined in this chapter I was familiar with include raw scores, norm reference scores,
criterion reference scores, and percentile ranks. I really like how Salkind presents the information in
this chapter. Salkind defines several terms throughout the chapter and identifies how this information
can be used to make decisions. Furthermore, Salkind identifies what is to love and what is not to love
about using a specific score. I found this information helpful when understanding the limitations of
using a particular score to make decisions about student performance. For the majority of the chapter,
Salkind identifies several types of normed scores including percentile ranks, stanine scores, standard
(fare) scores, z scores, normalized standard scores, and t scores. He concludes the chapter by
discussing the standard error of measurement (SEM). In chapter 5, Salkind addresses the issue of test
scores, what they mean and how we can use them. Salkins defines a raw

Coca Cola Essay
Coca Cola was created by Pharmacist Dr. John Styth Pemberton. He developed the formula for the
famous soft drink in his backyard on May 8, 1886. Dr. Pemberton s bookkeeper, Frank Robinson,
came up with the idea for the unique cursive logo that has been the trade mark ever since. On May 29,
1886 the very first ad appeared in the Atlanta Journal:
Coca Cola. Delicious! Refreshing! Exhilarating! Invigorating! The New and Popular Soda Fountain
Drink, containing the properties of the wonderful Coca plant and the famous Cola nuts. For sale by
Willis Venable and Nunnally amp; Rawson.

However, Coca Cola continued to stay with the ads that showed happy scenes of everyday life. These
ads helped people escape the realities of the depression and gave them hope that life would return to
normal. Examples included a woman taking a break from gardening to refresh herself with a Coke,
boys and girls in soda fountain ads and Artist Haddon Soundon s famous image of Santa Claus with a
Coke on billboards. The people responded to these ads and Coca Cola stayed profitable even during
the depression.
World War II had a major effect on Coca Cola s advertising decisions in the next few years. Their war
time policy was We will see that every man in uniform gets a bottle of Coca Cola for five cents
wherever he is and whatever it costs. The company wanted Coke to be a boost for morale and to
promote patriotism. The ads replaced the boys and girls at the soda fountain with smiling soldiers.
Another ad in 1943 urged people to buy war bonds and war stamps and still another showed two
women allies enjoying the pause that refreshes. Coca Cola wanted to show that they were part of the
American war effort. The famous red Coca Cola disk gave the image of the American way of life
before the war and during the war. The interactive advertising strategies and techniques before and
during the war made success possible and made Coca Cola an American icon today.

Hannah s Alienation In Thirteen Reasons Why By Jay Asher
In the novel Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher, the main cause of Hannah s alienation is having the

The Revolt Of The Cockroach People
Mexican Americans in Texas have a long and detailed history spanning from the arrival of Cortez all
the way to the present day. Through historical events, the culture and identity of Mexican Americans
have shifted, diverted, and adapted into what people chose to identify as. The rise of the Chicano
identity during the Mexican American Civil Rights Movement was an adaptation as a culture to
oppressive and unjust treatment from white, Anglos that had almost all political and social power over
all minorities. To stop the oppressive voices from silencing and oppressing the Mexican Americans,
they had to stand up to fight for their rights as American citizens that also had Mexican or Spanish
heritage to be proud of. In Oscar Zeta Acosta s novel, The Revolt of the Cockroach People, he dives
into the Chicano Movement as a witness and an active participant. His larger than life character is on
the front lines of the movement and examines the shift in identity among the group. It was particularly
rising of their Chicano identity that gave the people cause to organize politically and socially in order
to fight for a worthy cause. One aspect of the Chicano identity that gave rise to the Chicano
Movement is the power of reviving gender roles. The revival of the traditional roles gave Chicano
men the desire to assert themselves as the dominate gender to conquer the past oppressions from
whites. Traditional roles for men in Anglo, Spanish, and Mexican cultures dictate the men as the

The Teapot Dome Scandal
The 1920s included the Jazz Age and Harlem Renaissance. During this time period African Americans
escaped racial oppression in the South by migrating to the North, this was later called the Great
Migration. African Americans sought improved life in the North, more social equality, and they
wanted better and more opportunity for employment. African Americans formally experienced the Jim
Crow laws and brutal racism in the south, such as the Ku Klux Klan that frequently killed African
Americans in order to maintain a social organization and end Radical Reconstruction. This migration
aided the creation of the New Negro Movement. This movement was designed to renew African
American culture amidst the United States. Moreover, the movement allowed for African Americans

Science Fiction And Cultural Values
Science Fiction and Cultural Values
Introduction
Science fiction is a genre of creative writing which has stories that are connected with the future of
technology and science. This style of writing is often seen in graphic novels, fiction novels, television
series, and in film. Some common portrayals of science fiction include time and space travel. At times,
these stories feature life that is found on other planets apart from Earth. The tales are usually based on
new technologies, different social systems and scientific discoveries. Science fiction may seem to be a
fantasy because the technologies involved sometimes look unrealistic. However, that fantasy becomes
a reality when it changes how people view their daily lives.
History of science fiction
Philosophical stories and texts from centuries ago have some imagery that relates back to science
fiction. The stories imply that, even then, they predicted advances in science in future years to come.
Religious poems and stories that talk about the creation or demolition of the universe have some
elements that are like the elements of Science fiction. The powers used by science fiction can be
associated with those of the gods during and before biblical times. An example of an old philosophical
text which can be associated with science fiction is Plato s The Republic . The topics and adventures
discussed in the text are viewed as a fantasy and do not seem practical in real life because they cannot
be experienced using normal

Pros And Cons Of Tanking
The idea of winning is one everyone enjoys. The feeling of winning is incomparable to anything else,
and overall creates everlasting memories. When a team can t win, it can be due to the talent, the
coaching staff, or overall just not being good enough. Consistently being atop the totem pole that is
the NBA is nearly impossible, but many teams have tried, similar to the Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles
Lakers, and the Boston Celtics. When a team is not good enough to win the NBA Finals or to even
compete for a playoff berth, there are two paths those teams can take, to try their best to win, or to
tank. Tanking is the overall idea that teams lose games on purpose in order to better their odds at
getting a top draft pick (Thompson). Tanking is something that teams should not do, and is something
that should not be condoned (claim of policy). This could be done by changing the overall dynamic of
the draft lottery and perhaps putting into place things that penalize teams for being awful. In the NBA,
the worse the record a team has, the higher opportunity they have at getting the number one overall
pick and selecting what they claim to be the next Michael Jordan. While the idea of doing that is a
solid one, the odds of it happening and actually fully going through with ... Show more content on

While it is near impossible to be a top end team in the NBA, there is no point in losing just to try to

hometown. Regardless of how good the team is, winning is what drives them. Competition drives
individuals to become better at what they do. The elation that comes with winning is incredible and

the medical field, it became clear to me that, being a sonographer was exactly what I want to do with
my life. In 2007 someone who was very important to me passed away due to gastric cancer. When my

Jane Austen was born on December 16, 1775 at Steventon, England. She was the seventh child of the
rector of the parish at Steventon, and lived with her family until they moved to Bath when her father
retired in 1801.
Her father, Reverend George Austen, was from Kent and attended the Tunbridge School before
studying at Oxford and receiving a living as a rector at Steventon. Her mother, Cassandra Leigh
Austen, was the daughter of a patrician family. Among her siblings she had but one sister, Cassandra,

By allowing free college tuition the ambition gap would become more achievable to students making
them thrive in less stressful schooling environments knowing their college tuition wouldn t be a

Another way free college tuition would benefit our country is by allowing the education gap at the
bottom to no longer set a standard on education students receive. Thomas L. Friedman author of The
World Is Flat , states, So it made it possible for relatively wealthy people to organize into self taxing
districts. And that meant that wealthy people, by associating with each other, could tax themselves at
relatively low rates and still produce very high per capita per student school budgets, because of their

In order to minimize the numbers gap of students trying to thrive in earning a degree, free college

Sacred Spaces In Thomas A. Tweed s Space
In Space , Thomas A. Tweed characterizes sacred space as differentiated, kinetic, and interrelated in
sum. While Jerusalem has not always met all the criteria of a Great City, it s depiction through biblical
texts certainly meets Tweed s criteria of sacred space. Spaces are organized on a spectrum from
undifferentiated to differentiated. Even if a place is set apart and above others, there are different
levels of differentiation. On this spectrum, Jerusalem is one (if not the most) differentiated space on
earth. For a long time, Jerusalem was seen as the center of the world, or axis mundi. To many, it still
is. It is the setting in the bible of many out of the ordinary event, of theophanies and hierophanies, it is

religious act by David to curry with God, but it is also a smart political move to exalt Jerusalem as the
capital of government and to attract people to it. Furthermore, David tries to appeal to the people of
Jerusalem (as many kings have done throughout time) by distributing food to his people. After the Ark

Response Of Intervention ( Rti ) Process Response to Intervention Process Joey Veltri Reinhardt Univsersity Introduction The response to intervention (RTI) process allows educators to respond to students academic and behavioral needs in the classroom. Educators can respond to student challenges by using instructional interventions to provide extra support to struggling students. An intervention is a type of instruction targeted to meet the learning and/or behavioral needs of a student. Interventions are in addition to the general classroom instruction. Progress monitoring is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Every student engages in high quality instruction in the classroom at the Tier 1 level. In Tier 1, students get a daily opportunity to learn grade level curriculum and get basic differentiation to support their needs. The grade level standards are taught using research based, best practices. Teachers may work with small groups and provide hands on activities to make learning meaningful and relevant to students. All students receive periodic assessments that allow the teacher to identify if they require more intense support. Often times, schools will implement a schoolwide screening tool to benchmark students and determine if they need supplemental instruction to meet grade level expectations. Data collection from these assessments helps to guide teacher instruction and will also help to determine if a student needs more support in one or more academic areas. RTI Pyramid Tier 2 If a student is needing extra support in grasping grade level curriculum, they are moved into Tier 2. Tier 2 is the second level in the RTI pyramid and allows for more support to a struggling student. The student will still receive differentiated instruction just as they were given in the Tier 1 level. In Tier 2, a support team including the classroom teacher, an early intervention teacher, and parents work together to create a learning plan that works best for the student. • 4. Medea Feminist Analysis I know indeed what evil I intend to do,/But stronger than all my [Medea] afterthoughts is my fury,/Fury that brings upon mortals the greatest evils (Euripides 35). In Euripides play, Medea, he shows what happens when one is victimized permanently for something that they had done in the past, and shows the he shows the power of revenge. Jason is the victim in this tragic grouping of events. Medea punishes him, because she feels that he wronged her, even though her gruesome plans were much more sophisticated and horrid than Jason s acts against Medea. Some may argue that Medea would be considered the victim of Jason s wrath and terrible acts against her. They may believe that she was always innocent, and that everything bad that happened, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Medea s acts of rage, she victimizes Jason, and others around her. She was immune to the fact that she was going to kill her children, because she was focused on getting revenge on Jason, and making sure that he suffered. During Medea s encounter with Jason, Jason is shown slowly crumbling beneath the pain and agony that Medea had placed upon him, by killing her children. At this point, Jason is pleading for mercy, and begging for the children s bodies. You who have had the heart to raise a sword against/Your children, you, their mother, and left me childless /You have done this, and do you still look at the sun/And at the earth, after these most fearful doings?/ I wish you were dead (Euripides 43). Jason had shown his weakness to Medea, and she took advantage of that by slaughtering her own children, so that she would get revenge on Jason. This placed Jason in an even more vulnerable position, because he had to live with no family or power, because Medea ripped it all away from him in a matter of minutes. Jason s future had been brought to an abrupt stop, and Medea was to blame. Medea became an outcast, because she not only murdered her children, she devised a horrific plan, that called for her children to bring death to the princess and king. Medea had affected many people negatively, including people in her own family. In her acts of anger or under her horrific plans, Medea was bound to hurt someone. While Jason is looking for Medea after he hears about the slaughtering of his children, he exclaims, For your own brother you slew at your own hearthside,/ And then came aboard that beautiful ship, the Argo./And that was your beginning... /For the sake of pleasure in the bed you killed them./There is no Greek woman who would have dared such deeds (Euripides 43). • 5. Las Vegas, The Original City Of Sin Essay Las Vegas, the original City of Sin (Bull 2). Marketing campaigns flaunt the idea what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas (Bull 4). Now known for its attitude of permissiveness, especially regarding sexual behavior, Las Vegas has grown tremendously from it s humble beginnings as a simple rail stop between Los Angeles and Salt Lake City (Bull 2). In 1911, with a population of just over 2,000, Las Vegas was incorporated and its first mayor elected. Fast forward twenty years, and the population has almost quadrupled and gambling is legalized. Reminiscent of a perfect storm, the setting was ripe for exploitation: Las Vegas was distanced from other towns or cities, the railroad allowed people to easily travel, and legalized gambling opened up avenues for debasement. With it s remote location and legalized gambling, it was inevitable that big time mobsters would come onto the scene. Additionally, casinos were being erected, encouraging guests to spend money and drink liquor, thus leading to uninhibited behavior. Furthermore, by providing workers in the oldest profession there would be yet another way to line the pockets of the underworld figures who created the foundation for the Vegas of today. Russell W. Belk has argued, the idea that Las Vegas provides forbidden fruit and guilty pleasures;a vital part of the city s appeal (Bull 4). He masterfully weaves in a hidden lesson that becomes clear as the reader nears the end of the poem. His description of picking blackberries is in itself a metaphor of one s childhood memories and their perception at the time. He utilizes literary devices such as imagery, allusions and narrative point of view to set the mood, change the tone and draw in his readers. Mr. Heaney also structures his poem into two different sections, with each telling the story in a different tone with a different purpose behind it. However, what s more impressive is his use of intense diction to layer the poem with emotion and imagery that services his hidden message. Seamus Heaney begins the poem by placing a time stamp on it. • 18. Chicago By Carl Sandburg Analysis Chicago, written by Carl Sandburg is a rousing piece of writing about the lives of people in Chicago and about the city as a whole. Drawing from his working class roots, he built a raw boned poetry that violated the poetic norms of the time he cast off inherited poetic diction and form and adopted an exuberant free verse. The poem is a sordid love affair between a man and his tumultuous city with Sandburg declaring his affinity for the Chicago and its people despite its downfall, via his anaphoric stylization, juxtaposition, and anthropomorphisation of the city. To him, it is not just a chimpanzee s playground, rife with crime, but also his home. Within the second stanza, no anaphoric phrasing beyond they tell me appear, in hopes to ingrain the negative connotation to which the outside world attributes to Chicago inside the reader. Each one coupled with a phrase like, On the faces of women and children I have seen the marks of wanton hunger (8), evoking a primordial distaste for the city in the reader, a bitterness as this city threatens the livelihood of women and children. The phrases, disconnected from each other in terms of outright sounds, kindling a feeling unlike that of the outside world, one of disappearing brilliance, of melancholy, of a utter slumming. The city is in a tumultuous state, ununited, disconnected with painted women under the gas lamps luring the farm boys (6) and killers roaming free in the streets (7). This, in turn, transformed clinical practice as their ideas spread and many analysts became more emotionally responsive, creating a friendlier, more respectful therapeutic ambiance. • 25. All Things Not Being Equal All Things Not Being Equal An ongoing debate continues in the academic and scientific world of psychology in regards to the measurement of hypotheses, theories, and phenomenon. For the researcher, the argument is worrisome as well as tedious in nature. Most have the desire for the greatest statisticians to arrive at a consensus or standard, and allow the remainder to return to research business as usual. Very few if any researchers enjoy, comprehend, or desire to be knee deep in what a p value really means, other than the significance of the effect is less than .05. A statistically significant result allows for a positive hypothesis and a possible publication. However, an honest interpretation of statistical data would be more apt to produce a flawed literary publication that could be less than accurate. For this reason, psychology implores replication as the gold standard for research results. Reliability and validity are the foundational aspects of psychological science; without replication, there is little evidence to support the construct tested. Statistically speaking, results from research must be available and empirically evaluated to determine their merit (Thomas Hersen, 2011, p. 9). Thus, when new measures of statistical inference are used, the same evaluative process is applied. An example opined from Iverson, Wagenmakers, and Lee (2010) offer a paradoxical example applied to a new statistic that could not stand up to the scientific muster of replication. ... Through historical events, the culture and identity of Mexican Americans have shifted, diverted, and adapted into what people chose to identify as. The rise of the Chicano identity during the Mexican American Civil Rights Movement was an adaptation as a culture to oppressive and unjust treatment from white, Anglos that had almost all political and social power over all minorities. To stop the oppressive voices from silencing and oppressing the Mexican Americans, they had to stand up to fight for their rights as American citizens that also had Mexican or Spanish heritage to be proud of. In Oscar Zeta Acosta s novel, The Revolt of the Cockroach People, he dives into the Chicano Movement as a witness and an active participant. His larger than life character is on the front lines of the movement and examines the shift in identity among the group. It was particularly rising of their Chicano identity that gave the people cause to organize politically and socially in order to fight for a worthy cause. One aspect of the Chicano identity that gave rise to the Chicano Movement is the power of reviving gender roles. The revival of the traditional roles gave Chicano men the desire to assert themselves as the dominate gender to conquer the past oppressions from whites. • 33. Science Fiction And Cultural Values Science Fiction and Cultural Values Introduction Science fiction is a genre of creative writing which has stories that are connected with the future of technology and science. This style of writing is often seen in graphic novels, fiction novels, television series, and in film. Some common portrayals of science fiction include time and space travel. At times, these stories feature life that is found on other planets apart from Earth. The tales are usually based on new technologies, different social systems and scientific discoveries. Science fiction may seem to be a fantasy because the technologies involved sometimes look unrealistic. However, that fantasy becomes a reality when it changes how people view their daily lives. History of science fiction Philosophical stories and texts from centuries ago have some imagery that relates back to science fiction. The stories imply that, even then, they predicted advances in science in future years to come. Religious poems and stories that talk about the creation or demolition of the universe have some elements that are like the elements of Science fiction. The powers used by science fiction can be associated with those of the gods during and before biblical times. An example of an old philosophical text which can be associated with science fiction is Plato s The Republic . • 36. Pros And Cons Of Tanking The idea of winning is one everyone enjoys. The feeling of winning is incomparable to anything else, and overall creates everlasting memories. When a team can t win, it can be due to the talent, the coaching staff, or overall just not being good enough. Consistently being atop the totem pole that is the NBA is nearly impossible, but many teams have tried, similar to the Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers, and the Boston Celtics. When a team is not good enough to win the NBA Finals or to even compete for a playoff berth, there are two paths those teams can take, to try their best to win, or to tank. Tanking is the overall idea that teams lose games on purpose in order to better their odds at getting a top draft pick (Thompson). Tanking is something that teams should not do, and is something that should not be condoned (claim of policy). This could be done by changing the overall dynamic of the draft lottery and perhaps putting into place things that penalize teams for being awful. In the NBA, the worse the record a team has, the higher opportunity they have at getting the number one overall pick and selecting what they claim to be the next Michael Jordan. Spaces are organized on a spectrum from undifferentiated to differentiated. Even if a place is set apart and above others, there are different levels of differentiation. On this spectrum, Jerusalem is one (if not the most) differentiated space on earth. For a long time, Jerusalem was seen as the center of the world, or axis mundi. To many, it still is.
