Displacement Reactions And The Single Displacement Reaction
Introduction
There are two types of displacement reactions : One type is called the single displacement reaction,
the other is called the double displacement reaction. During a single displacement reaction, an element
substitutes another element in a compound, creating a new element and a new compound as products.
In most single displacement reactions, either a metal replaces another metal, or a non metal replaces
another non metal. The more reactive element takes the place of the less reactive element in the
compound, otherwise the reaction will not occur. The general chemical equations of single
displacement can be: A (metal) + BC → AC + B,
A (non metal) + BC → BA + C. Double displacement reaction is a chemical reaction, where the
positive ions of two different chemical compounds exchange and produce two new compounds. The
products may contain a precipitate. The general chemical equation of double displacement is: AB+ CD
→ AD + CB
The purpose of the lab is to observe the reactants and the products of three chemical reactions and
determine which type of reaction occurs in each chemical reaction.
The solubility tables can be used to help better determine the reaction types. The solubility tables refer
to the solubility of ionic compounds in water. By using the solubility tables, we can know whether a
compound is soluble or insoluble.

My Italian Culture
I am an Italian American, two very distinct cultures that have shaped me throughout my entire life. My
father is a full blooded Italian and my mother is American. They met when my mother moved to Italy
for business and about 13 years later I was born and 2 years after me, my brother. We all moved to
California in 2001, when I was almost 4 years old, because my mother is from California.
Since my mother had lived in Italy for 16 years and had mostly assimilated, I can say that my life at
home to this day has been pretty much Italian. My mom cooks Italian meals every night and my
parents talk in Italian and my father exclusively watches Italian TV and for the most part listens to
only Italian music. My life outside of my home has been very much American. I assimilated to the
American culture pretty quickly. I obviously spoke english outside of my house and made many
American friends from whom I picked up a lot. Every year I could feel that I was losing my Italian
culture. I could especially feel it during my trips to Italy. When I travel to Italy, I feel my whole world
changing pretty much overnight. Everything is different; the environment, the people, the sounds, the
smells, and the feel of everything. Because of the vast differences I feel when I travel to Italy, it
augments my feeling that I ve lost a big part of me.
Walking along an ancient, narrow cobblestone road in a medieval town, I marvel at beauty before me
as I take in every detail. I notice all the old bricks

Oil Prices And Stock Market Essay
INTRODUCTION
In this empirical project I will try to explain the relationship between the oil prices, gold prices and
stock market in the United State using yearly time series data. Since the gold and oil prices are raising
their influence on stock market is also increasing and we will see how fluctuations in oil prices and
gold prices impact the stock market in the United States. So here oil prices and gold prices will be our
explanatory variable and stock market index will be our explained variable. In this study we will use
multiple regression analysis to explain the relationship.
The data is collected from years 1961 to 2010 so the sample size is 50. The explanatory variable gold
is in average us dollars per ounce and crude oil is in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another reason is due to depreciation of the US dollar as it depreciates people want to spend more in
gold to hedge against inflation so the prices of gold is increasing. The cost of country s economy is
determined by oil prices so oil plays a vital role in the economy of the US. Generally high oil prices
badly impacts the performance of the stock market and high oil prices means that people may
considered to invest more in stock market.
Hamilton (1993), Gisser and Goodwin (1988), and Daniel (1997) have shown that there is a strong
relationship between the oil prices and stock markets. Several further have been done by Jones and
Kaul (1996), Sadorsky (1999) and Faff and Brailsford (1999) in order to explain this relationship.
Sadorsky (2003) used the vector correction model to verify the relationship between the oil and stock
prices. Abken (1980) have shown that inflation influences the gold prices and proved that they have a
positive correlation where as Mahdavi and Zhou (1997) found out that gold is no longer inflation
protective asset. So there are several studies have been already done in this field which has helped us
to better understand the relationship between the gold, oil and the

Black Cat Climax
The Black Cat Plot
The Black Cat is a short and gruesome story by Edgar Allen Poe. The story is about an alcoholic man
whose anger and insanity is rapidly swelling. It increased so much that he decides to unleash it on his
cat, his wife, and later his new cat. His insanity drives him to see all three of them. These crimes, he
said, had consigned me to the hangman. (Poe 7). That means, because he killed them he was sentenced
to death. In a story, the climax is defined as the highest point of interest or turning point. The climax
of this story is when the narrator murders his wife and the cat goes missing. One quote in this story
that shows that this is the climax is when the narrator says that he soundly and tranquilly

Iraq War Vs Gulf War
When we think of the wars that have happened in the United States. I can only think of one that got
stuck in my mind. I can remember practicing for bomb threats. I think I was in Kindergarten at that
time. The Gulf War started in 1990 and ended in late 1991. Within this time frame, we saw many
articles on the war. We are going to be learning how it started to the end of the war.
On July 17th, 1990, is when Iraqi accused Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates of taking over the
world oil market. (Fitzgerald) So in all the war actually started over the oil market. (Farley) The Gulf
War was the most efficient war in American History due to the fact it was all about the oil market, and
how everyone wanted oil. As we all know we use oil to get back ... Show more content on

The three ways information will be shared within the university will include using Slack, having
weekly webcasts, and also conducting once a month face to face meetings. Slack is an app that allows
you to organize your team conversations in open channels that make it possible for everyone to have a

Through the process of the following organizational change, leadership is essential. With leadership,
comes communication, which in this case, is utilized to discuss potential problems and
recommendations. Leadership is first and foremost a communication process, or set of processes.
Every leadership behavior is enacted through communication (Witherspoon, 2004). Communication is
necessary for Garden State University because there are different campuses and divisions. There is a
main campus, as well as a northern campus 45 miles away and a southern campus located 60 miles
away from the main campus. This makes communication difficult because it is not always possible for
every faculty member to be in the same place. There is also two major divisions within Garden State
University, this includes the Office of the Senior Vice President for academic Affairs and the Office of
the Senior Vice President for Administration and Finance. Academic deans and directors, as well as
other academic, student, and academic support functions report to the Office of the Senior Vice
President for Academic Affairs. Budgeting, procurement, facilities, human resources, risk

The Threat Of The Internet
The internet has become a vital way for organizations and the government to share and collect
information. The rapid increase in the use of new technologies has made it difficult for the law to keep
up with immerging threats. Cybercrimes were up 10.4% in 2014, and it does not look like the threats
will be decreasing anytime soon (Kassner, 2014). The country and organizations, need to be aware of
the threats out there and protect their systems.
The Target Cybersecurity Breach There have been many breaches in the past few years that have made
headlines in the news. Almost all of these breaches could have been prevented if proper security
protocols were in place. The Target breach is not an exception to this. Between November 27th, 2013
and December 15th, 2013 hackers took 40 million credit and debit card numbers ( Krebs on Security ,
2014). Seventy million records were taken that included email addresses, and the names of Target
shoppers ( Krebs on Security,Target , 2014). This breach has cost Target sixty one million dollars as of
February 2014 (Riley, Elgin, Lawrence Matlack, 2014).
How did it happen?
This was a known busy time for Target, because of the holidays. The hackers targeted payment
systems and put malware on the systems (Riley et al., 2014). The malware was able to get into the
system because the hackers were able to gain access to credentials from an HVAC vendor (Riley et al.,
2014). Further, six months before the breach Target had a strong

Tyranny And Deviant
To begin with, Aristotle had developed a theory labelled as the Constitutional Theory. As per Stanford
Encyclopaedia of Philosophy, Constitutional theory states that constitutions which aim at the common
advantage are correct and just without qualification, whereas those which aim only at the advantage of
the rulers are deviant and unjust, because they involve despotic rule which is inappropriate for a
community of free persons . He divided these types of constitution into two categories: correct and
deviant. These sets tell whether a certain government is ruled by one ruler, few rulers, and many
rulers. Under correct constitutions are the following: Kingship or Monarchy, Aristocracy, and Polity.
Next, under the category of deviant are as follows: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They have the power to govern a nation because of their status in society. Polity is defined as the form
of government of a social organization . An exemplar is the federal government of the United States.
Moving forward to the deviant, first off is Tyranny. The word tyranny actually demonstrates back to
the days of Nazi where Adolf Hitler became abusive and greedy of power went to hatred, killed
millions of lives (Jews) that were known, the Holocaust. Germany is the best example of tyrannical
country under the German Nazi dictator, Adolf Hitler. After tyranny comes the name Oligarchy the
term refers to the few people who control the state. The country fitted for this one is Russia. Although
Vladimir Putin was the leader, little did they know that this man was controlled by few businessmen

Observation is a key method, it is a way for the adults to learn about what the child needs. For
example, if you see a child hammering on objects this means that the child is involved in the activity
so we give him a drum. This is how observation can help and achieve a child s requirement.
Following the Child
The child will show you what they need to do, what to develop in themselves and what are the areas
they need to be challenged in. The aim of the children who persevere in their work with an object is
certainly not to learn ; they are drawn to it by the needs of their inner life, which must be recognized
and developed by its means. Maria Montessori.
Following the child around in the classroom will help you find out a little more about the child. If they
want to climb, let them climb in a safe manner. Do not be overprotective or they will always rely on
the teachers. It is better for the child to understand and be mature from a younger age as it will help
them in the future. Also it is best not to tell the child what to do all the time, the child needs to
familiarise themselves within their environment. One thing ever child needs is freedom and it is better
to give that to the child. Keep presenting the child with some choices of different toys so they are fully
focused and engaging in the activity. Also, step away from the child and let him or her get on with the

Essay on Contrast Between Catholic and Baptist Religion
Ask most people today if they have heard of Baptist and Catholic religion and most would say yes. In
many ways the two are very similar. For instance, both are based on the Christian faith, belief in the
trinity, and that God is the one true God. The two religions agree that Jesus died on the cross and rose
again to atone for our sins. They share a 27 book New Testament and insist that salvation comes from
Christ alone. On the other hand, while the Baptist and Catholic religions do have similarities, they also
have differences, such as their services, communion, and views regarding salvation. The first
difference between the two religions is their services. Roman Catholic services are held in sanctuaries
that are richly decorated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Baptists offer prayer to God through Christ during the service and reject the practice of praying to
Mary and the saints. The services are not nearly as laid out and ordered, with much less participation
by the church members during the service. . The second difference evident between the religions is the
partaking of Communion. In the Catholic Church, Communion is a very sacred act, and the members
are encouraged to receive it frequently. Communion is offered at each service and is always presided
over by the priest. The members believe that they are consuming the actual body and blood of Christ
during Communion, and are required to fast at least one hour prior to receiving it out of respect.
Communion is believed to be the most important of the seven sacraments by the church and required
to obtain salvation. On the other hand, Baptists rarely partake of Communion, and is usually reserved
for special occasions like Easter and Christmas. Some Baptist churches may partake every few months
or quarterly. Although, the pastor of the church normally presides over Communion, any member
designated by the church can do so. Baptist religion does not support the rule of fasting prior to
Communion, and believe it to be a symbolic reverence to Christ. It is not believed that the actual body
and blood of Christ are consumed during Communion. The

Are There Too Many Pressures And Expectations On Teens...
Mrs. Roczniak ENG 4C Monday, December 4, 2017 Option #2 Are there too many pressures and
expectations on teens today to conform and act a certain way? Teens are under more stress and have
higher expectations than ever before. It s a well known fact that being a teen is hard and accompanies
its own arrangement of troubles. Teens are expected to do extremely well in school and to have an
idea on what they want to do after school. Teens want to feel like they are welcomed and wanted from
their peers and they will do anything to fit in. Teenagers are also expected to teach themselves in
school and in life. Teens have more stress and expectations on them than every before. Teenagers are
required at an early stage to do everything right and to have their lives arranged out, teens are
expected to know what they want to do after school where they want to work. For an example, in the
breakfast club, Brian is pressured to have the best grades and to already have his life together. When
he was on his way into detention his mother said, well mister you figure out a way to study (Hughes,
1985) even though he couldn t. At school there is a scope of scholastic weights teens feel, from
requirement for flawless grades. Teens must do well since it is expected that all teens must go to the

Media Violence In Pediatrics
In the article Media Violence by the The American Academy of Pediatrics, they state and recognizes
that exposure to violent media, such as TV, games, comics, movies, and music, can pose a health risk
to young teens and children. There has been some research that shows these risks can include,
aggressive behavior, desensitization to violence, nightmares, and fear of being harmed. The American
of Pediatrics also provide a way to counteract such effect such as advocating for media literacy, more
thoughtful and proactive use of media by children and their parents, more responsible portrayal of

My Purpose Of School
At some point in our lives we have all asked the question What is the purpose of school? Why must I
learn this? . Some say school is simply preparation for employment and for the rest of our lives. I
enjoy school; however, I have always found it to be rather difficult and pointless being in the French
immersion stream and this was due to the lack of help I received from my mother and father unlike
many of my peers whose parents attended university and spoke both English and French fluently.
Everyone faces a variety of challenges and I have always tried my hardest to do my best and
overcome any challenges I face in order to succeed as well as make myself and my parents proud. In
elementary school, I discovered my weakness for French. It was the subject I abhorred; reading,
spelling and grammar were concepts I could not grasp. As a result of my academic struggles, I would
often become frustrated and cry. Perhaps what had stained my academic experience the most was in
sixth grade, our teacher invented a game called Autour du monde A game where we would go around
the class answering grammar questions that were given to us with the objective of improving our
French. I waited in vain for my turn to be over, only then to be made fun of by my teacher and peers
when I couldn t conjugate a verb in passé compose. It was humiliating that my teacher who was
supposed to support and inspire me to do my best, was instead putting me down in front of all my
peers. My parents had

Though his influence is not known by the general public as extensively as that of other modern
thinkers, Nikola Tesla is the most likely candidate for a lasting influence upon the general public, due
to the fact that his inventions and discoveries are visible in the lives of nearly all people.
Despite the fact that Nikola Tesla is not the subject of the admiration of many, the inventions
attributed to him have affected the lives of countless people throughout the world. Tesla, the Croatian
born inventor, is responsible, in part, for the modern electrical system, which may be seen in nearly all
residences, places of business, and places of debauchery. Tesla s contribution to the electrical system
provided greater efficiency, due to the fact that his use of alternating current allowed for a requirement
of fewer power stations within a given area, thus improving upon Edison s original vision ( Nikola
Tesla ). Tesla s foray into the field of electricity was not limited to the electric system, thus Tesla is
attributed with the creation of the induction motor, which may be seen in electric cars, fans used for
the circulation of air, devices used within the hard drives of computers, and numerous other devices,
thus Tesla is responsible for devices without which more advanced devices in the

The Human Ecology Of Disease
In studying health and disease, it is critical not only to identify what is immediately before us, but also
to gain an understanding of the contextual relationship that brought these conditions of sickness or
health to bear. Of great significance to the human ecology of disease is this dynamic context of
interactions between the human population, our environment, and our cultural behavior and practice
(Meade Emch, 2010; Mayer, 2000). Together, these three form the triangle of human ecology, which
aims to make associations between various, and quite intricate, networks of human life (Meade and
Emch, 2010). The problem is that each vertex of this triangle, representing a distinct complex system,
still operates in isolation from the others. And by adhering to this theory alone, we cannot so easily
draw connections between these systems, or communities. Quite necessarily, theories on the ecology
of human disease have been synthesized by the idea of One Health, which moves away from isolated
treatment that is focused on the individual, and instead adopts a more comprehensive approach. At a
much larger scale, One Health provides a cooperative framework of understanding complex
interactions, by which, we can undertake the prevention and treatment of disease in the context of
various species (human and non human), and their shared habitats (Barrett Osofsky, 2013). The notion
of One Health has become indispensable for the coordination of managing the outbreak of disease, as

The invention is a 2.5 gallon fire extinguishing device containing 2.2 3.7 ounces of a dry powered
super absorbent polymeric material. The claim of the patent is to present a process for use with 2.5
gallon water based fire extinguisher that uses a super absorbent polymer that transforms water into a
fire extinguishing or preventing substance or gel. This super absorbent polymer gel will bring fires
under control more quickly, thus offering substantial water and timesaving...the water swollen gel
provides a greater water laden surface area, with a higher heat capacity, than the unbound water
molecule. Thus, more water actually reaches the fire without being evaporated and therefore provides
more cooling of the fire. Thus, the fire is extinguished using less water . The super absorbent polymers
are prepared from water soluble polymers, but have cross linking structures that render the polymers
water insoluble. The super absorbent polymers can be dehydrated to a powder. When the powder is
added to an aqueous solution and agitated, a super absorbent gel like substance is formed. Therefore,
when the dry super absorbent polymer is introduced in a water based fire extinguisher, the mixture is
agitated to disperse the powder. The resulting aqueous mixture containing super absorbent

Trust In The Odyssey
Trust is an incredible trait to have. Some may say that without trust the world wouldn t go around. But
what exactly is trust? Merriam Webster defines trust as one in which confidence is placed ( Trust ).
Confidence is a whole big impact that goes along with the feeling of trust. Being a trustworthy person
means that people can rely on you for things. Trust can lead to a lot of danger also. If trust is broken,
There can be a lot of lack of communication because someone might not trust you with some things.
Trust might not come as just vocally trust. When you are asked to do something a certain way, you are
trusted you will get it done in that way. Trust is a very important thing in everyday life.
Trust and confidence are not the same thing. Yes you can have confidence in someone but trust is
more. Confidence is more of a self worth trait. You can find confidence when out on the basketball
court free throw line. In order to score and shoot you have to have confidence in yourself to do so.

Why Is Adoption Legal In Australia
Adoption Laws In Queensland
Laws in Australia are designed to protect the general safety of Australian citizens and should reflect
the attitudes, values and beliefs of society. Given that families play such a large role in the structure of
Australian society, there is a need for legislation to regulate family relationships. When these
regulations are necessary, the Family Court of Australia and the Federal Magistrates Court of Australia
implement them. As the primary objective of family law is to protect children, adoption is treated with
sensitivity under the law. Strict regulations imposed by the adoption laws in Queensland however,
make it much too difficult for Australians to adopt children from overseas, and are in need of
amendment. The law regarding intercountry adoption in Queensland discriminates against ... Show

This is likely correlated with Australia s overall decline in intercountry adoptions. Since the Hague
convention was implemented, adoptions from Australian citizens declined by approximately 74%. In
addition to this, 94% of adoptees that came from overseas were from Asia, 6% were from
South/Central America, and there were no finalised adoptions from Africa or other regions. This
distribution reflects the number of countries in each region with which Australia has an adoption
program, and the characteristics of these programs. As well as this, the typical waiting period for
families who adopted a child from overseas in 2014 15 was a period of over five years. It would
undoubtedly be beneficial not only to Australian citizens desiring to adopt, but also to an immense
number of orphaned children, if the Hague convention reached African countries, or made it easier to
adopt from those countries that are not under the convention

Essay on The Effects of Psoriasis
Psoriasis is a long term (chronic) skin problem that causes skin cells to grow too quickly, resulting in
thick, white silvery, or red patches of skin. (WebMD, 2012) To uneducated individuals, they may look
at a person with Psoriasis and think to stay away from them as it might be contagious. This disorder is
not contagious, but it does affect a person with Psoriasis to go through social exclusion and
discrimination. A mistaken trigger in the immune system is said to be the one of the causes of rapid
production of skin cells in the body. Patients with Psoriasis produce new skin cells between 2 6 days.
That is a little over four times less than the time they are normally produced, which is 21 28days.

The first and most common form is the Plaque Psoriasis. It is an infected area that appears red on the
base of the skin and covered by silvery scales. About 80% of patients with the disorder have this type
of form. The second form is the Guttate Psoriasis where there are small infected areas are on the trunk,
limbs, and scalp. This type of form can be triggered by infections in the upper respiratory such as a
sore throat. The third form is called the Pustular Psoriasis where the infected areas will develop
noninfectious pus inside blisters on the skin. This is said to be triggered through medication,
infections, stress, or exposure to certain chemicals. The fourth form is called the Inverse Psoriasis.
This form is caused by irritation such as friction or sweating and will cause the infected area to appear
smooth and red in the folds of the skin near the genitals. Lastly, the Erythrodermic Psoriasis form is
the most severe among the forms. It appears throughout the body causing reddening and scaling of the
skin and can be triggered by severe sunburn or specific medication.
As previously stated, Psoriasis is caused by a mistaken trigger in the Immune system. Normally, T
cells help protect the body against infection and disease. (NIAMS, 2013) When the disorder triggers
the immune system, it causes the T cells to activate and trigger other immune responses. This will

A Report On The Industrial Energy Audit Essay
1. Methodology
The industrial energy audit may be divided into three main parts: the survey, the analysis and the
proposed measures. The expected result of the energy audit is a number of measures that will increase
the energy efficiency, switch from non renewable to renewable sources and decrease the energy use of
the company. The result is normally presented in a report. In the three parts of the audit we have
different tasks:
Energy survey What do we have?
Define the system boundary.
Identify unit processes.
Quantify energy supply.
Allocate energy use to different unit processes. Energy analysis How bad is the utilization of the
supplied energy? Where does it go wrong? How far can we reach?
Identify both system errors and detail problems.
Identify idling power and energy.
Identify technologies that are far from BAT (Best Available Technology).
Identify mismatching energy quality, where high quality energy is used for non demanding purposes,
for example, electricity for low temperature heating.
Identifying barriers and driving forces.
Sum up the potential for energy efficiency and conversion for the system as a whole.
Suggested measures What can we do about it? Identify possible solutions.
Calculate the impact of the solutions and analyze them. Calculate the economic impact.
Top down approach and iterative method
the energy audit is basically a project with the aim to suggest energy efficiency and conversion

The Community Guide, American Association, And American...
Know How Paper #3 Program planning involves the use of many well defined evidence based practice
and services. In this paper we will elaborate on three services which public health professionals may
use in a variety of ways to perform their job more effectively. Our focus areas include the Community
Guide, American Diabetes Association, and American Heart Association. For each area we will
include a brief discussion summarizing the areas, their values in the field, relevant theories the area
encompasses, and how each might be applied in the profession. While the topics of each area may
differ, we hope you will gain a better understand for each and see how much of their goals and
approaches overlap.

What Are The Similarities Between North And South Korea
The two governmental structures that I have chosen to analyse are those of North and South Korea.
Despite being in very close quarters their governmental structures differ greatly. North Korea is a
Communist state with a one man dictatorship (CIA World Fact Book), South Korea on the other hand,
is a republic democracy (CIA World Fact Book).
North Korea is the subject of one supreme leader, Kim Jong un. The executive branch involves the
head of government, Premier PAK Pong Ju and vice premiers, and the cabinet also known as Naegak
both are elected by the Supreme People s Assembly (SPA) (CIA World Fact Book). The SPA is North
Korea s rubber stamp legislature , with 687 delegates (Inside North Korea s Supreme People s
Assembly, 2015 ), they come under the legislative branch and are also known as Ch oego Inmin
Hoeui. The Judicial branch is headed by The Supreme Court, here the judges are chosen by the SPA.
Despite this three way division of power, balance and checks have no meaning in North Korea a
country characterised by a one party dictatorship (Understanding North Korea, 2012). The North
Korean legal system involves a civil law system based on the Prussian model , inspired by Communist
legal theory. (CIA World Fact Book) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Polycystic Kidney Disease Analysis
Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) is a disorder in which clusters of cysts develop primarily within your
kidneys. Cysts are noncancerous round sacs that vary in size containing water like fluid (Igarashi,
2002). This can be associated with a number of conditions, including: High blood pressure, Urinary
and kidney infections, Kidney stones, and Kidney failure (Audrézet, 2012). Furthermore, Kidney
failure resulting from PKD is caused by a combination of Pressure from expanding cysts, compressing
normal kidney tissue or scarring in the normal support tissue in the kidney (Audrézet, 2012). PKD can
occur in two ways, one through spontaneous gene mutation and the other way is through inheriting the
gene mutation. Polycystic Kidney Disorder (PKD) is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mutation PKD1 is located on chromosome 16 specifically 16p13.3 and mutation PKD2 is located on
chromosome 4 in the vicinity of 4q21 23 (Grantham, 2008). In addition, the PKD1 is very large
compared to PKD2, it encodes for a 14.1 kb mRNA transcript that is translated into a protein
composed of 4302 amino acids (Igarashi, 2002), whereas PKD2 encodes a 5.3 kb mRNA transcript
that is translated into a 968 amino acid protein (Igarashi, 2002). ADPKD follows a dominant
inheritance. This means that if either the mother or father has ADPKD, the offspring will have a 50%
chance of inheriting ADPKD (Grantham, 2008). If the gene for ADPKD is not passed on, the offspring
will neither inherit the disease, nor be able to pass on the disease to future offspring (Grantham, 2008).
Ways to develop ARPKD require each parent to be a carrier of at least one defective copy of the
disease gene; in this case, there is a 25% chance of having the disease. If only one parent carries the
defective gene, the offspring will not inherit the disease (Igarashi, 2002). In Mary s case, the pedigree
resembles an Autosomal Dominant PKD pattern, due to the high frequency of complications

What Is The Theme Of Capitalism By Michael Moore

Title Filmmaker Michael Moore explores corporate greed, the global economic meltdown, and their
disastrous effect on American lives. As he travels from the Heartland to the financial epicenter of New
York and the halls of government in Washington, Moore delves into the price the country pays for its
love of capitalism. Michael Moore demonstrates the failure of Capitalism as an economic system in
America. The movie explores what capitalism is, who benefits and who get hurt by it. The film clearly
shows how capitalism was hijacked by special interests and how it decimated the middle class,
making it so much smaller while at the same time enlarging the poor underclass. It can be seen how at
the same time that Wall Street and the banks grew, society s devastation was soon to follow. It is clear
in the film that the poorest, uneducated, and hardworking middle class are the most likely people to be
taken advantage of by the unscrupulous corporations such as the home loan industry, and many others
business out there. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

WHY SHOULD GDP DATA BE COATED FOR TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO RATHER THAN GNP

For example in the reading of the budget the finance minister used GDP figures to talk about the
government s management of the economy in the year (2010 2011). GDP statics however does state to
a population listening to the budget about the efficiency of the government in stimulating or increasing
production from locally owned factors of production. GDP statics for Trinidad and Tobago however
are always more attractive than GNP statics as demonstrated in table 1.3 and graph 1.2. Because GDP
statics look and sound superior they are the choice of politicians who always aim to impress. From
graph 1.2 we see that when consideration is given to net property income from abroad GNP is always
less than GDP for the Trinidad and Tobago economy. This is because of the large multinational (MNC)

Julio Cortázar Push The Boundaries Of Reality And Reality
The concept of unreality can be defined as something that is unreal, invalid, imaginary, or illusory:
(Dictionary.com). At one time or another we have all fantasized about different things. However, have
any of us ever attempted to incorporate those fantasies into the real world? The following paper will
attempt to analyse how narratives of Julio Cortázar push the boundaries of reality and unreality. This
essay will focus on the works of Cortázar and will particularly focus on two of his stories Las babas

It s fair to say that both narratives show how Cortázar tests the boundaries of unreality and reality.
However, Cortázar took alternative approaches in order to present this in the respective stories. In the
case of Las babas del diablo, Cortázar introduced a first and third person narration into the story. The
introduction of a third person narrator highlighted the inner turmoil that Michel was experiencing, thus
forcing the reader to question his reliability as a narrator. As readers we were unable to trust Michel s
version of events yet, we were still unable to completely disregard it as it was clear he had a traumatic
experience in relation to the photograph. This is how Cortázar was able to test the boundaries of
unreality and reality, by leaving his readers in a state of utter confusion. In a completely different, but
equally effective way, Cortázar also expertly tested the boundaries of unreality and reality in
Queremos tanto a Glenda. Unlike Las babas del diablo there was no clever use of two different
narrations in order to confuse the reader. Instead Cortázar presented us with a very real idea (an
appreciation for a celebrity) and exaggerated it to massive proportions. Although the events from
Queremos tanto a Glenda seem unlikely to happen in the real world, there is a

The Age Of New Imperialism
The Age of New Imperialism in Britain was a time of prosperity and total domination. Compared to
previous years of imperialism, this period was focused primarily on benefitting the colonial power,
Britain, instead of establishing new settlements. Even though the British imperialism of the late 19th
century/early 20th century brought great wealth, knowledge, and technological advancements to the
country, it was at the expense of many other people in the empire. Britain, and Europe as a whole, had
to find a way to justify their superiority over these other countries subsequently leading scientists
decided to use their background and knowledge to create disciplines that had racist ideologies at the
root. These pseudo sciences were constructed to rationalize the imperialism during the 19th century.
This paper will discuss some of the most influential sciences produced during the late 19th century,
including social Darwinism, eugenics, and phrenology, that were used to justify British Imperialism
and how they supported imperialism.
White is the supreme race, non White people are inferior, White people are the ones with all the
achievements in the world these ideologies and theories, though formally constructed in the late
1800s, were created from discussions long before. The idea of race superiority has existed since the
15th and 16th centuries, early days of African slavery, but at that time it was supported by religion and
God. In the early 16th century, a Swiss

1.2 The impact of ICT?
Multitasking in the workplace long predates ICT, but ICT, if not a prerequisite for multitasking, is a
significant enabler and amplifier of multitasking. From an ICT evaluation perspective, it is therefore
pertinent to ask: Whether such modes of working (learning is a separate question) are better in some
(or any) sense than monotasking? and When and if is multitasking a beneficial development in the
workplace?
There is, as will be seen below, a body of research addressing the first of these questions, but little
research which looks at the second. Furthermore, only a modest portion of this research is to be found
in the IT evaluation literature (or in the wider IS literature). There is a embryonic body of research

nature, easily identifies weakness and initiates to change. While I was serving as vice president in my

I strongly believe that education is an essential part in patient care. In school, education translates into

Homeless and Neglected Children in the 19th Century
In his novel Huckleberry Finn, Mark Twain creates a fictional character that must confront very real
problems as a result of cultural and social issues of the time. Many of these such issues, slavery and
race relations being the most prominent, are dealt with significantly by the author, but another issue
not addressed in any sort of overtly significant manner is the plight of homeless, neglected, and
otherwise abused children in the 19th century. While Twain in no way attempts to create a
commentary on these issues, one cannot avoid focusing on the situation in which he has placed his

Huck is also met with a variety of potentially life threatening situations during his time running and
hiding with Jim. Again, Huck is a mere figment of the author s imagination; therefore, when
confronted with a dangerous situation, he is able to make correct choices for himself, at the young age
of 12. It is hard to believe that most real world 12 year old children would be capable of making the
same good choices when left to their own devices. Granted, Huck was accustomed to a life of neglect,
which would feasibly enable him to deal better with the atrocities and demands of his particular
situation, but the sadness lies in the fact that he had become accustomed to such a life in the first
place.
In today s world, children are seen as individuals who have certain rights as human beings, and who
are worthy of external (or non family) protection. This has not always been the case. For the better
part of the 19th century, there were no rules or regulations in effect that prevented the mistreatment of
children, since they were thought to be completely under the control of their immediate family
(University of Delaware). It was not until 1874 that the first organization concerned with the
protection of children was established in New York. The group called themselves the Society for the

Eassy On Homework
Homework was an essential feature of my own life whilst growing up. If memory serves me correct,
the practice was always considered important and was enforced throughout grade school by both my
teachers and parents. I remember coming home from school in second grade and completing a thick
booklet of blank, squared pages that required me to print my numbers out from 1 1000. I sat at the
kitchen table to complete it, with all seven of my family members conversing around me, as I was a
child that lacked an adequate place to study. Envy invaded my mind as my brothers and sisters played
joyfully around me, making it difficult to remain concentrated; nevertheless, I was forced to sit at the
table until the booklet was completed. Instances such as the one previously mentioned were a regular
occurrence in my youth and negatively impacted my playtime, although my brothers and sisters
eventually joined me at the table to complete their own homework.
Completing homework was a necessity in my household, and failing to do so would result in harsh
consequences. One particular instance of an incomplete homework assignment stands out prominently
in my memory. As I got older, my interests grew, but the amount of homework that I was required to
accomplish gradually increased as well. During my upper level elementary years, I was absolutely
obsessed with the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. In the final month of sixth grade I was assigned
a year end project to complete for English Language Arts. Unfortunately, the assignment became a
conflict of interest for me owing to the fact that the weekend that it was assigned was also the
weekend in which I would be acquiring the new Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix book at the
pre release event at midnight.
While at the bookstore with my mother, jumping with excitement might I add, she asked me if I had
any homework to complete over the weekend and explained to me that if I did, the book would have
to wait until summer vacation arrived before I could begin reading it. Upon receiving this information,
I lied to my mother and told her that our teacher did not give any homework during the last week of
school because I did not want the book withheld from me until doing so. The

The first thing to look for when trying to determine if a person has pulmonary hypertension is a family
history of the disease and all of the details of their symptoms. A physical exam looks for swollen
ankles or legs, bluish color to the skin or lips, and looks for signs of pulmonary hypertension in a
person s heart and lungs. There are quite a number of tests that are done to confirm a diagnosis of
pulmonary hypertension. A blood test will check oxygen levels, liver and kidney function, and certain
blood tests can assess the strain on the heart. Chest x rays can reveal an enlarged right ventricle or
pulmonary arteries. An electrocardiogram will check the electrical impulses of the heart. An
echocardiogram estimates the pressures in the right heart and will tell how well the heart is
functioning. Pulmonary function tests how much air your lungs can hold and how much air moves in
and out of them. The test also tests a person s lungs ability to exchange oxygen. A patient will likely
be asked to perform a six minute walk test which identifies the patient s exercise tolerance level.
Nuclear scans will test for blood clots in the lungs. Once these tests have been done and they point to a
diagnosis of pulmonary hypertension a right heart catheterization will likely be performed. Right heart
catheterization is one of the most accurate and

  • 2. Displacement Reactions And The Single Displacement Reaction Introduction There are two types of displacement reactions : One type is called the single displacement reaction, the other is called the double displacement reaction. During a single displacement reaction, an element substitutes another element in a compound, creating a new element and a new compound as products. In most single displacement reactions, either a metal replaces another metal, or a non metal replaces another non metal. The more reactive element takes the place of the less reactive element in the compound, otherwise the reaction will not occur. The general chemical equations of single displacement can be: A (metal) + BC → AC + B, A (non metal) + BC → BA + C. Double displacement reaction is a chemical reaction, where the positive ions of two different chemical compounds exchange and produce two new compounds. The products may contain a precipitate. The general chemical equation of double displacement is: AB+ CD → AD + CB The purpose of the lab is to observe the reactants and the products of three chemical reactions and determine which type of reaction occurs in each chemical reaction. The solubility tables can be used to help better determine the reaction types. The solubility tables refer to the solubility of ionic compounds in water. By using the solubility tables, we can know whether a compound is soluble or insoluble. They met when my mother moved to Italy for business and about 13 years later I was born and 2 years after me, my brother. We all moved to California in 2001, when I was almost 4 years old, because my mother is from California. My mom cooks Italian meals every night and my parents talk in Italian and my father exclusively watches Italian TV and for the most part listens to only Italian music. My life outside of my home has been very much American. I assimilated to the American culture pretty quickly. I obviously spoke english outside of my house and made many American friends from whom I picked up a lot. Every year I could feel that I was losing my Italian culture. I could especially feel it during my trips to Italy. When I travel to Italy, I feel my whole world changing pretty much overnight. Everything is different; the environment, the people, the sounds, the smells, and the feel of everything. Another reason is due to depreciation of the US dollar as it depreciates people want to spend more in gold to hedge against inflation so the prices of gold is increasing. The cost of country s economy is determined by oil prices so oil plays a vital role in the economy of the US. Generally high oil prices badly impacts the performance of the stock market and high oil prices means that people may considered to invest more in stock market. Hamilton (1993), Gisser and Goodwin (1988), and Daniel (1997) have shown that there is a strong relationship between the oil prices and stock markets. Several further have been done by Jones and Kaul (1996), Sadorsky (1999) and Faff and Brailsford (1999) in order to explain this relationship. Sadorsky (2003) used the vector correction model to verify the relationship between the oil and stock prices. Abken (1980) have shown that inflation influences the gold prices and proved that they have a positive correlation where as Mahdavi and Zhou (1997) found out that gold is no longer inflation protective asset. • 18. The Human Ecology Of Disease In studying health and disease, it is critical not only to identify what is immediately before us, but also to gain an understanding of the contextual relationship that brought these conditions of sickness or health to bear. Of great significance to the human ecology of disease is this dynamic context of interactions between the human population, our environment, and our cultural behavior and practice (Meade Emch, 2010; Mayer, 2000). Together, these three form the triangle of human ecology, which aims to make associations between various, and quite intricate, networks of human life (Meade and Emch, 2010). The problem is that each vertex of this triangle, representing a distinct complex system, still operates in isolation from the others. And by adhering to this theory alone, we cannot so easily draw connections between these systems, or communities. Quite necessarily, theories on the ecology of human disease have been synthesized by the idea of One Health, which moves away from isolated treatment that is focused on the individual, and instead adopts a more comprehensive approach. At a much larger scale, One Health provides a cooperative framework of understanding complex interactions, by which, we can undertake the prevention and treatment of disease in the context of various species (human and non human), and their shared habitats (Barrett Osofsky, 2013). The notion of One Health has become indispensable for the coordination of managing the outbreak of disease, as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. A Report On The Industrial Energy Audit Essay 1. Methodology The industrial energy audit may be divided into three main parts: the survey, the analysis and the proposed measures. The expected result of the energy audit is a number of measures that will increase the energy efficiency, switch from non renewable to renewable sources and decrease the energy use of the company. The result is normally presented in a report. In the three parts of the audit we have different tasks: Energy survey What do we have? Define the system boundary. Identify unit processes. Quantify energy supply. Allocate energy use to different unit processes. Energy analysis How bad is the utilization of the supplied energy? Where does it go wrong? How far can we reach? Identify both system errors and detail problems. Identify idling power and energy. Identify technologies that are far from BAT (Best Available Technology). Identify mismatching energy quality, where high quality energy is used for non demanding purposes, for example, electricity for low temperature heating. Identifying barriers and driving forces. Sum up the potential for energy efficiency and conversion for the system as a whole. Suggested measures What can we do about it? Identify possible solutions. Calculate the impact of the solutions and analyze them. Calculate the economic impact. As he travels from the Heartland to the financial epicenter of New York and the halls of government in Washington, Moore delves into the price the country pays for its love of capitalism. Michael Moore demonstrates the failure of Capitalism as an economic system in America. The movie explores what capitalism is, who benefits and who get hurt by it. The film clearly shows how capitalism was hijacked by special interests and how it decimated the middle class, making it so much smaller while at the same time enlarging the poor underclass. It can be seen how at the same time that Wall Street and the banks grew, society s devastation was soon to follow. However, Cortázar took alternative approaches in order to present this in the respective stories. In the case of Las babas del diablo, Cortázar introduced a first and third person narration into the story. The introduction of a third person narrator highlighted the inner turmoil that Michel was experiencing, thus forcing the reader to question his reliability as a narrator. As readers we were unable to trust Michel s version of events yet, we were still unable to completely disregard it as it was clear he had a traumatic experience in relation to the photograph. This is how Cortázar was able to test the boundaries of unreality and reality, by leaving his readers in a state of utter confusion. In a completely different, but equally effective way, Cortázar also expertly tested the boundaries of unreality and reality in Queremos tanto a Glenda. Unlike Las babas del diablo there was no clever use of two different narrations in order to confuse the reader. Compared to previous years of imperialism, this period was focused primarily on benefitting the colonial power, Britain, instead of establishing new settlements. Even though the British imperialism of the late 19th century/early 20th century brought great wealth, knowledge, and technological advancements to the country, it was at the expense of many other people in the empire. If memory serves me correct, the practice was always considered important and was enforced throughout grade school by both my teachers and parents. I remember coming home from school in second grade and completing a thick booklet of blank, squared pages that required me to print my numbers out from 1 1000. I sat at the kitchen table to complete it, with all seven of my family members conversing around me, as I was a child that lacked an adequate place to study.
