Analysis Of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas...
Rachel Hutter: Engineer, Imagineer, and Mother If you could have dinner with any person, living or
dead, who would it be and why? This question is most commonly asked at an event filled with a large
group of strangers, as an icebreaker. Many would typically answer, George Washington, Ben Franklin,
Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, and maybe if someone wants variety they could say someone
like Marie Curie. All of these answers are superficial and simply the first historical person that
someone could think of. In fact, I know I would have answered with George Washington. He was the
first one to my mind, but why? Do I really want to have dinner with George Washington? What would
I even talk to him about? I imagine the conversation would go something like this, Me: So uhm, I just
wanted to thank you for crossing the Delaware River and stuff, that was pretty amazing and really
impacted the rest of our country and our freedoms, thank you. George: Yeah happy to, I m glad I did
that too. *Proceed to eat lunch quietly because I don t have questions nor really care. I could just read
a history book and know the information I would ask from him. So when I was asked, what engineer
would I want to have dinner with? it made me really hesitate and actually think for a minute. To then
specify further and be asked what women engineer I would want dinner with made me really self
reflect. What questions would I want to ask another female engineer? What are my final goals? What

Walt Disney America`s Great American
On December 5, 1901, Elias Disney and Flora Call Disney gave birth to a man who would eventually
change our world by the creation of a little mouse. Walter Elias Disney, who was also known as Walt,
was born in a small town in Chicago, Illinois, by a father who was an Irish Canadian descent, and his
mother who was a German English descent. Walt was one out of five children, four brothers and a
sister. Their names were Herbert Arthur Disney, Raymond Arnold Disney, Roy Oliver Disney, and
Ruth Flora Disney. Walt was the oldest one out of the five. While he attended school, he was
introduced to Walter Pfeiffer, who decided to show Walt vaudeville and the art of making movies.
Walt decided to drop out of high school, at the age of sixteen, to join the army. He was rejected to join
because he was too young of age. He and a friend decided to join the Red Cross, where Walt was an
ambulance driver during World War II. In 1919, Walt moved to Kansas City to begin a career in art,
and worked for the newspaper, as a newspaper artist. He met Ubbe Iwerks, and he and Disney soon
made their own commercial company called, Iwerks Disney Commercial Artists. After he met Ubbe
Iwerks, Disney and Iwerks decided to open a company called Laugh o Grams, which screened short
animated cartoons that became very popular in the area of Kansas City. Disney hired a number of
animators to work in the company. Unfortunately, the studio profits failed, and Disney ended up in
loads of debt, and became

The Pros And Cons Of Linux
In the beginning, Linus Torvalds, a young man who studied computer science at the University of
Helsinki, thought Unix like academic operating system should be available for free and is an open
source software.
Hence, he decided to do a better operating system which is free of charge and is an open source
software. The Linux kernel was first released in 1991, it is designed to be used with GNU software.
GNU developers eventually integrated their software into Linux to create an operating system. Linux
is everywhere so it is available in many forms to suit many needs where from consumer oriented
systems for home use to distributions for use in specific industries. For instance, it is in our
smartphone, our Roku devices and even in our refrigerator. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Linux is a software on a computer that enables applications and the computer operator to access any
devices on the computer to perform its desired functions. To put it simply, Linux is an operating
system that enable to manage the communication between software and hardware. The operating
system (OS) relays instructions from an application to, for example, the computer s processor. The
processor performs the instructed task, then send the results back to the application via the OS.
As we know, Linux is all free and easy to install. This zero cost of entry accompanied with an open
source license. Open source follows the following key of philosophies, for instance, the freedom to
study how the program works, the freedom of running a program, the freedom to redistribute copies
and also the freedom to distribute copies of the modified versions to the others.
Linux is said everywhere because it is powering roughly 94% of worldwide supercomputers, most of
the servers powering the Internet, the majority financial trades worldwide and a great number of
Android devices. It also appears in many different architectures, from mainframes to server to desktop
to mobile and on a wide variety of

Self Care Ethics
The research discussed in this paper has shown similar findings in the benefits of self care. Different
practices such as utilizing social support through friends and family members, using private time to
work on distancing oneself from stressors or trauma of work and placing personal needs first at home.
Now it is time to explore the validity, and generalizability of the findings presented. Although multiple
studies came to the same conclusions of ways to alleviate and prevent burnout and were able to
identify leading causes to burnout having a control group to test coping skills is difficult due to ethical
concerns. Ethical concerns would be the repercussions of not having an individual practice self care
during potentially stressful situations. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
al. (2012) as well as Killian (2008) both discuss the importance of having a correct ratio of at risk
patients/consumers vs. lower risk. However, no discussion around what is considered a high risk
patient vs. low risk, or an amount for appropriate ratio. Benefits of knowing what was defined during
the study as a high risk patient would be helpful to know that it was general across all participants of
the study. Due to having open ended questions and having the providers list their version of what
burnout is, can alter the study by not having a preliminary set of defined terms, and the subjectivity
can mitigate the results. Participants were providers for consumers with an eating disorder with an
average of 13 years experience from different organizations, which can help with generalizability to
more than one profession on how stressors at work can be seen in different companies. Killian s
(2008) qualitative study of open ended questions showed difficulty with inter item reliability to not
having a set of terms to define the meaning of burnout and self care, however changing those results
into completing a second quantitative study helped to support Kilian s findings correlating work
stressors, as well as personal stressors to the experience of burnout. However, due to the study being
conducted within questionnaires, and no ability to have a control study, it s difficult to be able to see if
controlling for work hours made a difference. Self report can also hinder results from participants
having social desirability with either wanting to look good to their company, the testers, or want to

A Healthy Individual s Immune System
Definition A healthy individual s immune system is able to combat pathogens, bacteria, infections and
viruses that he or she may encounter on a daily basis. This becomes much harder for the individual
once he or she is infected with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). The Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention (CDC) (2015) defines HIV as a virus that attacks the immune system. The
immune system is the body s natural ability to protect itself against infections and diseases (CDC,
2015). When the immune system is damaged, the human body loses the ability to fight off disease and
infections (CDC, 2015). The HIV virus is different from other viruses due to the fact that once the

283). Furthermore, if a person refuses to seek treatment for HIV he or she will eventually develop an
immunocompromised system due to the fact that the count of CD4 cells will be reduced drastically
(CDC, 2015). As a result of this action, the individual is more susceptible to becoming infected with
other infections or infection related cancers due to the low count of T cells (Chereshnev et al., 2013, p.
283). Chereshnev et al., (2013) list some of the diseases that correlate with a low count of CD4 cells
and these are Mycobacterium tuberculosis, cancer such as lymphoma, and herpes viruses (p. 283).
Etiology
The CDC (2015) states that scientists have identified the source where HIV first originated. Sharp, P.
M., and Hahn B. H. (2011) state that a type of chimpanzee located in Central Africa is the source of
HIV (p. 2). Sharp et al. (2011) explain that this chimpanzee is infected with Simian Immunodeficiency
Virus (SIV) (p.2). SIV found in these chimpanzees is biologically similar to the HIV found in human
beings (Sharp et al., 2011). Therefore, SIV is believed to have been transmitted to human by
cutaneous or mucous membrane exposure to infected blood when hunters would go bushmeat hunting
these chimpanzees as a source of food (Sharp et al., 2011, p. 10). Once these hunters became infected
with SIV through contaminated blood from the chimpanzees, SIV mutated in the human body into
what we know today as HIV (Sharp et al., 2011, p. 10). Sharp et al., (2011)

The Pros And Cons Of An Autonomous Car
Whether it is in a laboratory, boardroom, the halls of Congress, or at the precipice of a perilous
situation, weighing the value of one life versus another and making life and death decisions is an
excruciating process with no easy answers (Kaplan, 2016). Nonetheless, as the discussion about
autonomous cars and the ethical dilemmas they present rages on, I find it interesting that we are
insistent upon imposing higher moral and ethical standards on the programming and decision making
abilities of an autonomous car than human drivers (Parnell, 2016). Moreover, as we look to do so, we
are also departing from the ethical philosophy that has been utilized for many years to pioneer many
of the safety features, laws, and regulations to enhance automobile ... Show more content on

However, there was little discussion about the significant consequences associated with the human
driver s split second decision (Lin, n.d.). Moreover, when humans are compelled to instinctually react
to life threatening stimuli, their decisions are primarily driven by self preservation rather than a
cognitive moral philosophy (Taflinger, 1996). As a result, I believe the deontology should be the moral
philosophy utilized to address the moral dilemmas associated with autonomous cars. Subsequently,
manufacturers, scholars, and law makers should gather data assessing how most humans would react
in these scenarios and write code for autonomous vehicles to respond in a similar manner in these
excruciatingly painful scenarios. Additionally, utilizing an deontological moral philosophy would also
enable auto manufacturers and law makers to continue to leverage the same moral philosophy they
have utilized for the past 50 years, as well as the data from past crash tests and experiences to innovate
and regulate automobile safety features, such as, seat belts, crumple zones, anti locking brakes, air
bags, and automatic emergency braking systems given that each of these safety systems were designed
to protect the passengers inside the vehicle (Rynkiewicz, 2015). Consequently, enabling consumers to
reap the many other safety benefits of autonomous vehicles, while having a clear understanding that
when faced with a split second perilous decision, the vehicle will mirror the instinctual actions of a
human driver, utilize deontological moral philosophy, and attempt to safeguard the lives of the car s

The Morality Play Everyman
The morality play Everyman is a play during the medieval period that represent all mankind while
dramatizing evil characters and good characters. The play upholds Christian virtues as the characters
are presented with abstract qualities. The play starts with God talking to Death to convey a message to
Everyman a pilgrimage he must take because of the sins that everyman has commented. God is upset
with everyman because of unkind acts, plentiful sins, and worldly riches that man has commented
while living without fear. The morality play Everyman is a play that illustrate life and death as the
author show the perception of death to Everyman.
In this play, God has made Death mandatory to everyman, Lord, I will in the world go run over all,
And cruelly outsearch both great and small; Every man will I beset that liveth beastly Out of God s
laws, and dreadeth not folly; He that loveth riches I will strike with my dart, His sight to blind, and
from heaven to depart, Except that alms be his good friend, In hell for to dwell, world without end.
Lo, yonder I see Everyman walking; Full little he thinketh on my coming; His mind is on fleshly lust
and his treasure, And great pain it shall cause him to endure Before the Lord Heaven King
(Pavao, 2014). Death is not tempted by man persuasions as he must deliver God s message. Death,
thou mighty messenger, is sent to search out Everyman to rely a message that grave awaits him. When
Death approached Everyman, Everyman tells him, Oh

The Reign Of Queen Elizabeth I And The Elizabethan Era
The Elizabethan Era also known as the golden age in English history is associated with the reign of
Queen Elizabeth I and the Elizabethan Theater. Although life was not easy during the Elizabethan era
it was one of the most progressive times in history and marked the beginning of the Elizabethan
theatre which still to this day influences theatre and the way theatre is presented .
The Elizabethan Era began in 1588 and ended in 1603 during Queen Elizabeth I reign England s

of wealthy nobles. Nobles were the elite men and women of society much like the upper class in today
s society. Elizabethan Women were obedient to men and dependent on their male relatives to support
them and since there were no school for women they were tutored at home and weren t allowed to
enter university. Women also couldn t be heirs to their fathers titles, vote , join the military ,or become
doctors and lawyers .Along with all this woman had to preserve there virginity until marriage or they
would be looked down upon or belittled however if they were raped they were punished instead of the
rapist because during this time men could do whatever they desired to do in life.
The Elizabethan Era is known for the intricate outfits that men and women wore to court and elite
social functions. The wealthy wore furs and jewels, and the cloth of their garments featured
extravagant embroidery. The poor and even the middle classes dressed less extravagant and instead
more simply. Elizabethan theatres such as the globe theatre were popular amongst the rich and the
poor the poor were called groundlings or penny knaves and would pay a penny to stand in front of

The Hispanic market in particular is the fastest growing group of people in the United States, and
being able to successfully advertise to them is key in seeing a business succeed. The current market
size for the Hispanic population makes up 17 percent of the United States Total population, this is
around 53 million people as of 2012. In fact, the United States has the second largest group of
Hispanics in the world behind Mexico. This staggering percentage is predicted to grow to around
128.8 million people or 31% of the United States by the year 2060. To keep up with the growing
population.
When marketing towards a target demographic, a company needs to look at where the most people of
that demographic reside. The top ten biggest states for the Hispanic Population are: California,
Florida, Texas, New Jersey, Illinois, North Carolina, Colorado, New York, New Mexico and Arizona.
Marketing efforts need to be directed in these states first and foremost to get the most bang for your
buck in terms of the target demographic seeing it.
Marketing Objectives
According to the Miller marketing division, it has a few main areas of focus for its advertising, before
any advertising is done they need to see who is drinking what, after that, sales are looked at and
reports are made to see where and what buyers are buying. They then research the actual buyers.

Ideology In The Revolution Of 1848 Essay
The Role of Ideology in the Revolutions of 1848
Year 1848 is described as mad year mad with fight for freedom. Already its first months, in almost all
parts of Europe, brought explosion of aims and aspirations, which were accumulated during the after
congress period. Revolutionary movements spread throughout the whole Europe, apart from Russia,
where the system of serfdom did not allow any revolts, and Great Britain, where the reforms were
carried out in non revolutionary channels. Despite the differences in social, economic and political
structures of European countries, the revolutions of 1848 were characterised by uniformity, and their
ideology was a common denominator.

Because of overall crises, many reforms were needed, most of which had an ideological background.
Nevertheless, the ideology did not play a huge role throughout the whole revolution. Year 1848 can be
divided into three periods which were characterised by variable importance of new ideas of 19th
century. The main ideology in opposition to the order established during the Congress of Vienna was
often called liberalism . This name indicates that the primary motive of it was to strive after freedom
in contrary to dependence and restrictions forced on societies and individuals by absolute monarchs.
Colloquially, all people who were against absolute regime and were after constitution established by
nations representativer, were called liberals. They demanded freedom of religion and tolerance,
freedom of word, press and societies. They thought that everybody should be equal as far as law is
concerned.
Another 19th century idea was radicalism, which was pretty much the same ideology, with only slight
differences: radicals supported republican form of power rather than constitutional monarchy, they
wanted common right to vote, they were saying less about freedom of an individual, more about social
justice.
At the beginning of the revolutions 1848, the ideology was extremely important. All social classes
were in misery, because the outcome of

section{Electronic Medical Records (EMR) Vs Electronic Health Record (EHR)}
Electronic Medical Record or EMR is basically the digitized version of the patient s medical record
which might include demographic information, scanned copies of the patients report and any other
information that might be collected by the healthcare provider about the patient. With EMR, it is
usually collected and maintained by a single entity. The single entity can use EMR for diagnosis of
treatment and the diagnosis reports cannot be shared with other entity because EMR are designed not
to be shared by outside entity. Figure ref{emr} displays the visual representation of EMR and EHR
within New Zealand. It shows how medical information is collected from various healthcare providers
and feeds to the national EHR. EMR are single records that can be accessed and modified by everyone
within the practice and can be referred to anything that can be found on a paper chart, such as patients
treatments, diagnosis etc.

across multiple entities. EHR is a vital document that contains very sensitive information about the

Research Paper On How To Shoot A Three-Pointer
If you are wondering how to shoot a three pointer the proper way, then you should Read and follow
the steps I call B.E.E.F. Basketball players like Stephen Curry, Dirk Nowitzki, Buddy Hield, Klay
Thompson, Kyrie Irving, Kyle Korver, Eric Gordon and so any many other significant NBA shooters
apply B.E.E.F in their jump shot. The first letter in B.E.E.F is B. B, is for Balance. What that means is
that you have to keep your feet shoulder width apart with your dominant foot slightly ahead of your
other foot, about six inches while bending your knees for a good foundation. By applying this step in
your stance before you shoot, it will improve your chance of making a three pointer. Next, comes E,
which stands for Eyes. What that means is that

Communication Gap Between Generation Y And The Baby Boomer...
This paper reviews an article written by Elza Venter from the Department of Psychology of Education
at the University of South Africa. The article is titled Bridging the communication gap between
Generation Y and the Baby Boomer generation.
The article examines the generational communication gap between generation Y and the Baby Boomer
generation with the intention to suggest ways to bridge the gap. Venter (2016) argues that meaningful
communication between the two generations is important because they have connected channels of
communication and the two can give meaning to each other s lives. For instance, Baby Boomer are the
parents, employers, lecturers and teachers of Generation Y (Venter, 2016: 2). However, the two
generations do not always maintain good channels of communication. According to Venter (2016) the
baby boomer generation and Generation Y often times find themselves engaged in conflict as a result
generational differences.
In order to understand the communication gap between the two generations, Venter (2016) studied
interpersonal communication style of the each generation. The author found that Generation Y and the
Baby Boomer generation value different communication styles and that creates a communication gap
between the two generations.
According to Venter (2016) the main differences in the two generations communications styles can be
summarised as follows:
Members of Generation Y are called digital natives because this generation grew up using

The arrangement has favored those gatherings of individuals that endured in the occupation,
instruction, and government parts. Other terms can used to describe affirmation action such as equal
opportunities and race based preferences. By allowing such a program like it, it has helped minorities
into professions that beforehand were hard or not allowed entry into. Of all the groups affected, the
group that was most positively affected would be white women. The purpose of this action is to strive
for equivalent open doors for everyone paying little heed to race or skin color. Race has always been a
controversial factor in the college admission process. Critics who are supportive of the action say that
colleges reach out toward minorities since they are the least diverse in the college environment. With

The Sioux Treaty of 1868 Violation The BLB was a response to the violation of the Sioux treaty of
1868. Both, the Sioux tribes and the U.S. Government (USG) signed a treaty in 1868, guaranteeing the
Indians ownership of the Black Hills and hunting rights (Staff, 2009). However, General Custer led an
expedition of miners into the Black Hills that discovered gold in 1874. According to Corbin (2000),
the Black Hills stretch across western South Dakota, northeast Wyoming and southeast Montana.
Indians consider the Black Hills a sacred landscape because it is the spiritual center of the Sioux
nation. The discovery of gold in the Black Hills attracted gold hunters who crossed into Indian lands,
not caring of the significance of the land. According to the History Channel, this betrayal and breach
of the treaty led many Sioux and Cheyenne tribesmen to leave their reservations and joined Sitting
Bull and Crazy Horse (Famous Sioux warrior leaders) in Montana. By spring of 1876, more than
10,000 Native Americans gathered in a camp along the Little Bighorn River (UNK, 2009). The USG

Ambrose Biierce Writing Style
The writing style of Ambrose Bierce can essentially be depicted as bitter. His stories include the 1891
story Chickamauga , the 1891 story An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge and the adapted An
Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge Twilight Zone film in 1964. Both stories had some kind of
incongruity or plot twist that made his stories fascinating. Occasions throughout his life molded his
view on the world. This perspective reaches out into his written work when he takes a gander at the
sharp side of the world in a large portion of his stories and into the aspects of death. The story
Chickamauga tells of a small boy who with a toy sword who wanders off into the woods to fight
invisible foes. The boy strays too far and evidently becomes lost and lies down to rest and sleeps for
several hours. Soon after he awakes he is joined by hundreds of dead or wounded soldiers and rather
than being frightened by them he is entertained by them and eventually, with a sword in hand, takes a
position in front of the group to lead them. Soon he and the soldiers come across a small body of water
and the soldiers make a rush for in which many with the lack of strength die. With seeing a fire in the
distance, the child becomes excited and moves towards the flames. When the boy finally reaches the

The Hidden Truth Under The Lifted Veil Essay
The Hidden Truth Under The Lifted Veil
Many stories involving the supernatural or the paranormal give way to the question of the reliability of
the narrator. This question is brought forth in The Lifted Veil by the narrator himself. Being told in the
first person, the debate is ever present, but this particular narrator highlights it even more than most.
He tells a tale of precognizance, which heightens to madness, and the horror of his omniscience.
Whether it is looked at from the standpoint of his words directly, or what he is using them to describe,
the story answers this question for itself. Through his own words in the text, his cries for pity, his

The narrator tells the reader that he will not reveal the truth or himself in its entirety. He begins his tale
by saying, [his] story has little reference to [him] (58) and therefore since his story does indeed
revolve around him it can be inferred that it is not true. He later directly states that he will be not
dwelling so much as [he has] hitherto done on [his] inward experience (83) and therefore the reader
will not truly know what is going on his mind. He also infers that the reader is now familiar with him
and understands him, and therefore will be leaving out details, since when people are well known to
eachother [...] feelings and sentiments [are] inferred. (83) Since the reader is again told to be not

The narrator devalues the truth in his own words within the text. He states that we learn words by rote,
but not their meaning, (87) thus insinuating that though the reader recognizes and knows the words he
uses, their actual meaning is not known, and therefore what he says may not be what he means nor
what the reader understands. He further discredits himself, saying [his] recollections of the past
became contracted in the rapidity of thought till they sometimes bear hardly a more distinct
resemblance to the external reality than the forms of an oriental alphabet to the objects

the nature of the dairy sector, all consumers considered that its useful value is nutritional for them and

higher the quality is. While the Vietnam fresh milk market has been dominated by the large firms,
Vinamilk will not succeed if they position a similar product. Therefore, with a different positioning, by

Pro Choice Vs. Pro-Abortion
All I m going to say is there is a difference between pro choice and pro abortion. Pro choice is
understanding that you have no control over what another woman does with her body. Pro choice is
understanding that people make their own decisions based on their life. Pro choice is not necessarily
approving of abortion, it s allowing people to make decisions, which is why it s called pro CHOICE. If
you are pro life, you are saying an unborn fetus is equivalent in value as a born child. If a fire was

The Apollo 11 mission brought back the first geologic samples from the Moon back to Earth.
Astronauts collected twenty two kilograms of material which acquired samples of the lunar soil, fifty

Economic System And Economic Systems
For this essay I will be focusing in on the three different economic system, which are known as
centrally planned economy, mixed economy, and market economy. I will also be explaining why
internationalizing firms should be aware of the differences between all three economic systems and
what roles should the government be taking in the free market systems. Before I begin defining the
different economic systems I would like to first explain what an economic system is. Every country
differs in what economic system is being used. An economic system is a system of producing goods
and the exchange of goods and services. An economic systems also includes a process which is used
to allocate its assets. Culture can have a big impact because of a country s economy. Just as a country
s economy state differs from country to country so does its culture. Why does it have an effect on a
country s culture we ask? The difference between having an individualist or a collectivist culture is
where we see it. In an individualist culture we see more people being rewarded then we see in a
collectivist culture. Being rewarded with things such as low tax rates which inspires them to continue
with their activities of their culture.
As mentioned in Chapter 7 no nation is either considered to be fully individualist or fully collectivist.
National economies are arranged on a scale in which we see the three different economic systems. The
scale is setup in a way in which centrally planned economy is

Types of bed
Beds with the blank box, however, differ not only in your type of bed frame. For almost all types of

Upholstered Bed with Storage
An upholstered bed is usually the most common type of bed and, often seen in the range of beds with

Paradox Of Grief
One of the themes that that we covered in lecture is grief, including the different types of grief that
people experience, and the ways in which people learn to deal with grief. In life, we will all
experience the death of someone close to us at one point in our lives. Because their death may be very
hard on us, grieving will help us get through our daily lives and help us heal from this pain. Everyone
responds to a loss in their lives in different ways, depending on the type of person he/she is and the
cause of death of their loved one. When we experience a difficult loss in our lives, we respond by
grieving and learning to accept this loss. According to Kastenbaum, there are many types of grief,
including: normal and complicated grief, anticipatory grief, resolved and unresolved grief, and hidden
and disenfranchised grief. Specifically, Kastenbaum explains how grief should be resolved within a
reasonable period of time, but at the same time, the loss of a crucial relationship is never completely
resolved: we move on with our lives, but we will never be the same again (Kastenbaum, 350). This

Dr. Reed
Objective:
Observe and measure a weak acid neutralization and determine the unknown identity of an unknown
acid by titration.
Introduction:
Within an acid base titration the titration curve resembles the strengths of the corresponding acids and
bases. A strong acid will correspond with a weak conjugate base, and a weak conjugate acid will
correspond with a strong base. This is based on the Bronsted Lowry model. The weak acid will donate
protons to the hydroxide ion. Weak acids will have a low Ka value, the Ka value is the tendency of the
acid to dissociate: Ka= [H+] [A ] [HA] Ka is the acid dissociation constant and [HA] is the
concentration of the weak acid . Strong acids usually completely dissociate and has a Ka value greater
than 1. Weak acids don t dissociate completely and have a Ka value much smaller than 1. pKa values
are often used for weak acids due to being able to work with whole numbers pKa = log Ka During a
titration the pH of the solution will be monitored using a pH meter from that we get a titration curve.
The titration curve is then used to determine the equivalent molecular weight and Ka value of the
unknown weak acid, from that we are

Emotions In Madame Bovary And The Picture Of Dorian Grey

Human emotions remain as one of the world s biggest secrets. Like sleep, we know what happens to
our body when we experience these emotions whether it be a release of hormones or a certain area on

purpose they serve. All we know is everyone s emotions behave differently. Different types of arts can
elicit completely different emotional response from people. Some art may have the ability to appeal to
dangerous emotions in certain people. Whether it be the corruption of a once faithful and beautiful
young girl, plagued by the desire for romanticism and lofty ideas, or a handsome young nobleman
who is obsessed with living life to fullest. Both are fueled by the emotion that a certain type of art

An Explorative Study of Testing the Effectiveness of Product Placement Compared to 30 Second
Commercials
Abstract
The main objective of this paper is to compare the effectiveness of subtle and prominent product

It is forecasted that global paid product placement spending will grow at a compound annual rate of
27.9% in the 2005 2010 period to $7.55 billion, as product placement growth continues to
significantly outpace that of traditional advertising and marketing. The overall value of the worldwide
product placement market, including the barter/exposure value of non paid placements, will increase
18.4% compounded annually to $13.96 billion in 2010 (PQ Media, August 2006). It is therefore not
surprising that the concept of product placement is daily discussed, applied, and reported in the world
of professional marketers (Russell and Stern, 2006; O Loughlin, 2006; Levin, 2006; Karrh et al.
2003;).

The Rising Importance of Product Placement in Europe While brand or product placement is
prevalent in the US because of vague or nonexistent regulations, the transition is moving slower in
Europe due to stricter rules governing the use of product placement (PQ Media, 2006). In Europe, The
European Commission is working on the legislation of using product placements for movies or TV
programmes and has set out its plans, in order to update 1989 s Television Without Frontiers Directive,
extending the rules to all TV like services and

The Main Aspects Of Intrinsic Motivation For An Athlete
Motivation is crucial for an athlete in order to want to win. It is hard to want to win if you have no
motivation. The main aspect of motivation in terms of the self determination theory is intrinsic
motivation. The self determination theory can be defined as a highly appropriate conceptual
framework from which to study sport persistence and dropout (Calvo, Cervelló, Jiménez, Iglesias,
Moreno Murcia, 2010). Intrinsic Motivation can be defined as an athlete taking up playing a sport just
for the enjoyment of playing a sport (Pelletier, Tuson, Fortier, Vallerand, Briére, 1995). It is important
to realize that the self determination theory affects an athlete s motivation intrinsically (internally)
because the self determination theory uses factors like autonomy and competence to motivate an
athlete to play better in their sport. Most athletes, now and in the past, find it easier to motivate
themselves intrinsically if they enjoy the sport or have fun while playing the sport (Ryan Deci, 1985).
Definitions
Intrinsic Motivation has been experimented on for years and in order to prove its validity. Regarding
athletics, intrinsic motivation is defined as an athlete taking up playing a sport just for the enjoyment
of playing a sport (Pelletier et al., 1995). In an article published by Ryan Deci, the two argue that
through their research, it was proven that having intrinsic motivation will help engage an athlete
because of the feeling of competence that arises

How Did Humanism Influence Renaissance Art
Humanism is the intellectual movement of the Renaissance based on the study of the humanities,
which include grammar, rhetoric, poetry, moral philosophy, and history. Humanities were very
important during the Renaissance and still are today. As the power of the Catholic Church decreased,
many people turned away from religious morality and focused on studies of the liberal arts to prepare
for life. As a result of this, humanism influenced the whole continent of Europe. Along with literature,
art was a very important part of Renaissance culture. With the expansion of humanism throughout
Europe, art became significantly influenced by this movement throughout the Renaissance. Artists
began to make paintings of human bodies and their realities and dramas. Two main developments
affected the result of artistic works. First, artists utilized the laws of perspective to organize outdoor
space and light through geometry. Second, artists portrayed their understanding of the development of
movement and human anatomy through details in the faces and bodies of figures in their paintings.
Three pieces of Renaissance art exhibit a substantial use of humanism: the Mona Lisa, School of
Athens, and The Tribute Money.
The Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci has been renowned as the best known piece of art in the world.
Da Vinci was quite ingenuous, as he was a successful artist, scientist, inventor, and visionary. He
synthesized his background of science with his work in the arts. For example, da

Personal Reaction and Reflection Journal Final Response
Final Reaction
In the beginning of this film, it appears these men were struggling to be truthful and honest. They
were making sure it was a safe place to do so. They all came to discuss their experiences and learn
from other men s experiences. As the film went on I was impressed by their ability to continue to talk
about the hard topics related to racism in our country. They all took many risks to explain their
experience and question when other members thoughts were inaccurate within the group setting. After
watching the rest of the color of fear I have seen a big change in everyone in the group, especially
David Christensen.
I believe that this film as a whole is so powerful and looks at many different perspectives of how
racism and oppression can affect everyone around us. As I mentioned before we all experience
privileges and oppression, but everyone experiences these in different ways as we learned when
reading about the addressing model. By the end of this documentary, we saw so many different types
of oppressions related to within group and between group differences. They were powerful messages
because they explained how both concepts influenced and allowed the cycle of oppression to continue
in our society.
The take home message I received is that racism and prejudice will not stop from having a few
discussions, but this can help to us as a society and as counselors to become more aware of these
concepts.

Media Violence in Children s Lives
During the past decade, America has witnessed an alarming increase in the incidence of violence in
the lives of children. On a daily basis, children in America are victims of violence, as witnesses to
violent acts in their homes or communities, or as victims of abuse, neglect, or personal assault. The
causes of violent behavior in society are complex and interrelated. Among the significant contributors
are poverty, racism, unemployment, illegal drugs, inadequate or abusive parenting practices, and real
life adult models of violent problem solving behavior. At the same time that there has been an increase

Should Pasta Companies Be Forced For Label The Country Of...
Should pasta companies be forced to label the country of origin?
This past week Italy formally asked the European commission to require country of origin on pastas
sold in Italy. As many expected, this has caused an uproar with international companies, most notably
Canadian, who believe this requirement will cause lessen sales. Italy s proposed plan is to show where
the wheat is grown and milled on the pasta packaging. This regulation would clearly be a detriment to
Canadian pasta brands and would also require Italian pasta brands to segregate from one another by
country. With margins in consideration, this will surely increase the cost of moving durum into Italy.
Italy has been Canada s second largest foreign buyer of durum in the 2016 17 ... Show more content

Four years ago the United States was in a similar situation with Mexico in regards to international
meat, rather than pasta. On September 11, 2013, a United States district judge refused to stop the
government from requiring more specific labels on beef, pork, poultry and lamb products that were
sold in the United States (The Pig Site). This served as a victory for defenders of the mandatory
Country of Origin Labeling (COOL) policy. COOL, is a controversial United States food and
agricultural labeling policy that was implemented and deemed mandatory in 2009. The policy requires
that fresh foods, most notably meat, must indicate on the label where the product was born, grown,
raised and slaughtered (The Pig Project). It is not a secret that international and domestic businesses
operate differently, As mentioned in chapter 1 of the textbook, companies can expand their sales by
engaging in international business. In this case, Canada exports their pasta in hopes of tapping into the
enormous pasta market or Italy. In fact, according to a study done in 2014 by the International Pasta
Organization, Italy is the clear ahead leader in pasta consumption per capita. Italians consume 25.3
kilograms of pasta per capita, while Tunisia came in a distant second at 16 kilograms per capita
(International Pasta Organization). From the standpoint of Canadian pasta corporations, having their
pasta in a pasta dominant market like Italy is a

  • 2. Analysis Of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas... Rachel Hutter: Engineer, Imagineer, and Mother If you could have dinner with any person, living or dead, who would it be and why? This question is most commonly asked at an event filled with a large group of strangers, as an icebreaker. Many would typically answer, George Washington, Ben Franklin, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, and maybe if someone wants variety they could say someone like Marie Curie. All of these answers are superficial and simply the first historical person that someone could think of. In fact, I know I would have answered with George Washington. He was the first one to my mind, but why? Do I really want to have dinner with George Washington? What would I even talk to him about? I imagine the conversation would go something like this, Me: So uhm, I just wanted to thank you for crossing the Delaware River and stuff, that was pretty amazing and really impacted the rest of our country and our freedoms, thank you. George: Yeah happy to, I m glad I did that too. *Proceed to eat lunch quietly because I don t have questions nor really care. I could just read a history book and know the information I would ask from him. So when I was asked, what engineer would I want to have dinner with? it made me really hesitate and actually think for a minute. To then specify further and be asked what women engineer I would want dinner with made me really self reflect. What questions would I want to ask another female engineer? What are my final goals? What makes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Walter Elias Disney, who was also known as Walt, was born in a small town in Chicago, Illinois, by a father who was an Irish Canadian descent, and his mother who was a German English descent. Walt was one out of five children, four brothers and a sister. Their names were Herbert Arthur Disney, Raymond Arnold Disney, Roy Oliver Disney, and Ruth Flora Disney. Walt was the oldest one out of the five. While he attended school, he was introduced to Walter Pfeiffer, who decided to show Walt vaudeville and the art of making movies. Walt decided to drop out of high school, at the age of sixteen, to join the army. He was rejected to join because he was too young of age. He and a friend decided to join the Red Cross, where Walt was an ambulance driver during World War II. In 1919, Walt moved to Kansas City to begin a career in art, and worked for the newspaper, as a newspaper artist. He met Ubbe Iwerks, and he and Disney soon made their own commercial company called, Iwerks Disney Commercial Artists. After he met Ubbe Iwerks, Disney and Iwerks decided to open a company called Laugh o Grams, which screened short animated cartoons that became very popular in the area of Kansas City. Disney hired a number of animators to work in the company. Unfortunately, the studio profits failed, and Disney ended up in loads of debt, and became ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Pros And Cons Of Linux In the beginning, Linus Torvalds, a young man who studied computer science at the University of Helsinki, thought Unix like academic operating system should be available for free and is an open source software. Hence, he decided to do a better operating system which is free of charge and is an open source software. The Linux kernel was first released in 1991, it is designed to be used with GNU software. GNU developers eventually integrated their software into Linux to create an operating system. Linux is everywhere so it is available in many forms to suit many needs where from consumer oriented systems for home use to distributions for use in specific industries. To put it simply, Linux is an operating system that enable to manage the communication between software and hardware. The processor performs the instructed task, then send the results back to the application via the OS. As we know, Linux is all free and easy to install. This zero cost of entry accompanied with an open source license. Open source follows the following key of philosophies, for instance, the freedom to study how the program works, the freedom of running a program, the freedom to redistribute copies and also the freedom to distribute copies of the modified versions to the others. • 5. Self Care Ethics The research discussed in this paper has shown similar findings in the benefits of self care. Different practices such as utilizing social support through friends and family members, using private time to work on distancing oneself from stressors or trauma of work and placing personal needs first at home. Now it is time to explore the validity, and generalizability of the findings presented. Although multiple studies came to the same conclusions of ways to alleviate and prevent burnout and were able to identify leading causes to burnout having a control group to test coping skills is difficult due to ethical concerns. Ethical concerns would be the repercussions of not having an individual practice self care during potentially stressful situations. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... al. (2012) as well as Killian (2008) both discuss the importance of having a correct ratio of at risk patients/consumers vs. lower risk. However, no discussion around what is considered a high risk patient vs. low risk, or an amount for appropriate ratio. Benefits of knowing what was defined during the study as a high risk patient would be helpful to know that it was general across all participants of the study. Due to having open ended questions and having the providers list their version of what burnout is, can alter the study by not having a preliminary set of defined terms, and the subjectivity can mitigate the results. Participants were providers for consumers with an eating disorder with an average of 13 years experience from different organizations, which can help with generalizability to more than one profession on how stressors at work can be seen in different companies. Killian s (2008) qualitative study of open ended questions showed difficulty with inter item reliability to not having a set of terms to define the meaning of burnout and self care, however changing those results into completing a second quantitative study helped to support Kilian s findings correlating work stressors, as well as personal stressors to the experience of burnout. However, due to the study being conducted within questionnaires, and no ability to have a control study, it s difficult to be able to see if controlling for work hours made a difference. Self report can also hinder results from participants having social desirability with either wanting to look good to their company, the testers, or want to give the testers findings they are hoping ... • 6. A Healthy Individual s Immune System Definition A healthy individual s immune system is able to combat pathogens, bacteria, infections and viruses that he or she may encounter on a daily basis. This becomes much harder for the individual once he or she is infected with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) (2015) defines HIV as a virus that attacks the immune system. The immune system is the body s natural ability to protect itself against infections and diseases (CDC, 2015). When the immune system is damaged, the human body loses the ability to fight off disease and infections (CDC, 2015). Furthermore, if a person refuses to seek treatment for HIV he or she will eventually develop an immunocompromised system due to the fact that the count of CD4 cells will be reduced drastically (CDC, 2015). As a result of this action, the individual is more susceptible to becoming infected with other infections or infection related cancers due to the low count of T cells (Chereshnev et al., 2013, p. 283). Chereshnev et al., (2013) list some of the diseases that correlate with a low count of CD4 cells and these are Mycobacterium tuberculosis, cancer such as lymphoma, and herpes viruses (p. 283). Etiology The CDC (2015) states that scientists have identified the source where HIV first originated. Sharp, P. M., and Hahn B. H. (2011) state that a type of chimpanzee located in Central Africa is the source of HIV (p. 2). Sharp et al. (2011) explain that this chimpanzee is infected with Simian Immunodeficiency Virus (SIV) (p.2). SIV found in these chimpanzees is biologically similar to the HIV found in human beings (Sharp et al., 2011). Therefore, SIV is believed to have been transmitted to human by cutaneous or mucous membrane exposure to infected blood when hunters would go bushmeat hunting these chimpanzees as a source of food (Sharp et al., 2011, p. 10). Once these hunters became infected with SIV through contaminated blood from the chimpanzees, SIV mutated in the human body into what we know today as HIV (Sharp et al., 2011, p. 10). • 7. The Pros And Cons Of An Autonomous Car Whether it is in a laboratory, boardroom, the halls of Congress, or at the precipice of a perilous situation, weighing the value of one life versus another and making life and death decisions is an excruciating process with no easy answers (Kaplan, 2016). Nonetheless, as the discussion about autonomous cars and the ethical dilemmas they present rages on, I find it interesting that we are insistent upon imposing higher moral and ethical standards on the programming and decision making abilities of an autonomous car than human drivers (Parnell, 2016). Moreover, as we look to do so, we are also departing from the ethical philosophy that has been utilized for many years to pioneer many of the safety features, laws, and regulations to enhance automobile ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, there was little discussion about the significant consequences associated with the human driver s split second decision (Lin, n.d.). Moreover, when humans are compelled to instinctually react to life threatening stimuli, their decisions are primarily driven by self preservation rather than a cognitive moral philosophy (Taflinger, 1996). As a result, I believe the deontology should be the moral philosophy utilized to address the moral dilemmas associated with autonomous cars. Subsequently, manufacturers, scholars, and law makers should gather data assessing how most humans would react in these scenarios and write code for autonomous vehicles to respond in a similar manner in these excruciatingly painful scenarios. Additionally, utilizing an deontological moral philosophy would also enable auto manufacturers and law makers to continue to leverage the same moral philosophy they have utilized for the past 50 years, as well as the data from past crash tests and experiences to innovate and regulate automobile safety features, such as, seat belts, crumple zones, anti locking brakes, air bags, and automatic emergency braking systems given that each of these safety systems were designed to protect the passengers inside the vehicle (Rynkiewicz, 2015). Consequently, enabling consumers to reap the many other safety benefits of autonomous vehicles, while having a clear understanding that when faced with a split second perilous decision, the vehicle will mirror the instinctual actions of a human driver, utilize deontological moral philosophy, and attempt to safeguard the lives of the car s ... Lo, yonder I see Everyman walking; Full little he thinketh on my coming; His mind is on fleshly lust and his treasure, And great pain it shall cause him to endure Before the Lord Heaven King (Pavao, 2014). Nevertheless, the ideology did not play a huge role throughout the whole revolution. Year 1848 can be divided into three periods which were characterised by variable importance of new ideas of 19th century. The main ideology in opposition to the order established during the Congress of Vienna was often called liberalism . Colloquially, all people who were against absolute regime and were after constitution established by nations representativer, were called liberals. They demanded freedom of religion and tolerance, freedom of word, press and societies. They thought that everybody should be equal as far as law is concerned. Another 19th century idea was radicalism, which was pretty much the same ideology, with only slight differences: radicals supported republican form of power rather than constitutional monarchy, they wanted common right to vote, they were saying less about freedom of an individual, more about social justice. Both, the Sioux tribes and the U.S. Government (USG) signed a treaty in 1868, guaranteeing the Indians ownership of the Black Hills and hunting rights (Staff, 2009). However, General Custer led an expedition of miners into the Black Hills that discovered gold in 1874. The discovery of gold in the Black Hills attracted gold hunters who crossed into Indian lands, not caring of the significance of the land. According to the History Channel, this betrayal and breach of the treaty led many Sioux and Cheyenne tribesmen to leave their reservations and joined Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse (Famous Sioux warrior leaders) in Montana. Paradox Of Grief One of the themes that that we covered in lecture is grief, including the different types of grief that people experience, and the ways in which people learn to deal with grief. In life, we will all experience the death of someone close to us at one point in our lives. Because their death may be very hard on us, grieving will help us get through our daily lives and help us heal from this pain. Everyone responds to a loss in their lives in different ways, depending on the type of person he/she is and the cause of death of their loved one. When we experience a difficult loss in our lives, we respond by grieving and learning to accept this loss. According to Kastenbaum, there are many types of grief, including: normal and complicated grief, anticipatory grief, resolved and unresolved grief, and hidden and disenfranchised grief. Specifically, Kastenbaum explains how grief should be resolved within a reasonable period of time, but at the same time, the loss of a crucial relationship is never completely resolved: we move on with our lives, but we will never be the same again (Kastenbaum, 350). Determine The Identity Of An Unknown Weak Acid Lab Report Determining the Identity of an Unknown weak acid (Vernier) Formal Lab Report Kelli McWatters August 7, 2017 Chem 1121 Dr. Reed Objective: Observe and measure a weak acid neutralization and determine the unknown identity of an unknown acid by titration. Introduction: Within an acid base titration the titration curve resembles the strengths of the corresponding acids and bases. A strong acid will correspond with a weak conjugate base, and a weak conjugate acid will correspond with a strong base. This is based on the Bronsted Lowry model. The weak acid will donate protons to the hydroxide ion. Weak acids will have a low Ka value, the Ka value is the tendency of the acid to dissociate: Ka= [H+] [A ] [HA] Ka is the acid dissociation constant and [HA] is the concentration of the weak acid . Strong acids usually completely dissociate and has a Ka value greater than 1. Weak acids don t dissociate completely and have a Ka value much smaller than 1. pKa values are often used for weak acids due to being able to work with whole numbers pKa = log Ka During a titration the pH of the solution will be monitored using a pH meter from that we get a titration curve. The titration curve is then used to determine the equivalent molecular weight and Ka value of the unknown weak acid, from that we are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Volunteering at a Nursing Home Essay Volunteering at a Nursing Home I ambitiously decided that I would brighten the lives of the elderly by volunteering at a rest home, but discovered that the elderly were being neglected, shoved aside and forgotten. As I stepped into the home a pungent odor penetrated my nostrils, causing an instantaneous gagging reflex. The place was abounded with neglected and subdued inhabitants, yearning for attention. Anybody that passed them caused a sudden outburst of ranting. Then she began repeating the story she had just told me, and I realized that she was merely talking to herself. Although this discovery disenchanted me at first, I soon realized that, although the woman was talking to herself, she still had so many fantastic stories stored in her mind. The residents of the home all had some life flittering in them and numerous stories to share; they just need someone to listen to them. • 44. The Main Aspects Of Intrinsic Motivation For An Athlete Motivation is crucial for an athlete in order to want to win. It is hard to want to win if you have no motivation. The main aspect of motivation in terms of the self determination theory is intrinsic motivation. The self determination theory can be defined as a highly appropriate conceptual framework from which to study sport persistence and dropout (Calvo, CervellĂł, JimĂ©nez, Iglesias, Moreno Murcia, 2010). Intrinsic Motivation can be defined as an athlete taking up playing a sport just for the enjoyment of playing a sport (Pelletier, Tuson, Fortier, Vallerand, BriĂ©re, 1995). It is important to realize that the self determination theory affects an athlete s motivation intrinsically (internally) because the self determination theory uses factors like autonomy and competence to motivate an athlete to play better in their sport. Most athletes, now and in the past, find it easier to motivate themselves intrinsically if they enjoy the sport or have fun while playing the sport (Ryan Deci, 1985). Definitions Intrinsic Motivation has been experimented on for years and in order to prove its validity. Regarding athletics, intrinsic motivation is defined as an athlete taking up playing a sport just for the enjoyment of playing a sport (Pelletier et al., 1995). • 45. How Did Humanism Influence Renaissance Art Humanism is the intellectual movement of the Renaissance based on the study of the humanities, which include grammar, rhetoric, poetry, moral philosophy, and history. Humanities were very important during the Renaissance and still are today. As the power of the Catholic Church decreased, many people turned away from religious morality and focused on studies of the liberal arts to prepare for life. As a result of this, humanism influenced the whole continent of Europe. Along with literature, art was a very important part of Renaissance culture. With the expansion of humanism throughout Europe, art became significantly influenced by this movement throughout the Renaissance. Artists began to make paintings of human bodies and their realities and dramas. Two main developments affected the result of artistic works. First, artists utilized the laws of perspective to organize outdoor space and light through geometry. Second, artists portrayed their understanding of the development of movement and human anatomy through details in the faces and bodies of figures in their paintings. Three pieces of Renaissance art exhibit a substantial use of humanism: the Mona Lisa, School of Athens, and The Tribute Money. The Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci has been renowned as the best known piece of art in the world. Da Vinci was quite ingenuous, as he was a successful artist, scientist, inventor, and visionary. As the film went on I was impressed by their ability to continue to talk about the hard topics related to racism in our country. After watching the rest of the color of fear I have seen a big change in everyone in the group, especially David Christensen. I believe that this film as a whole is so powerful and looks at many different perspectives of how racism and oppression can affect everyone around us. As I mentioned before we all experience privileges and oppression, but everyone experiences these in different ways as we learned when reading about the addressing model. By the end of this documentary, we saw so many different types of oppressions related to within group and between group differences.
