The Era Of Madness And Confinement
The Era of Madness and Confinement The 1950s was an era of civil conflict for the United States.
Although it the post World War II era and the United States was the world s strongest military, there
was a war going on within its own society. (Ginsberg, 1) This generation dealt with civil rights
movements and communism at the home. ( The 1950s ) But with all the pressure of all that is going on
around this how did this generation turn out? It was during this time that author Allen Ginsberg wrote
his poem Howl, which was broken up into three parts. In his poem Howl, Allen Ginsberg uses an
outlandish writing style in order to demonstrate the madness and imprisonment felt by his generation.
The first line of the poem sets the theme ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was during the late 1940s and early 1950s that the Red Scare was known because of the communist
in the United States. ( Red Scare ) Part one further refers to the madness of the people and actions that
give off the impression that they have been driven mad. The poem as a whole is written in a way that
strays from the norm. The lack of commas in certain lines gives off a tone of hysteria because the lack
of a pause in between details. For example the line, ...destroyed by madness, starving hysterical
naked... (Ginsberg, 1) The words starving hysterical naked would be said in a fast pace that would
make the tone seem non stop or hyper. Ginsberg also decides to save the period for the very last line,
which would indicate that part one, is an extensive sentence. By doing so it also gives off a hysterical
tone because he does not stop but simply takes short pauses in between each line. It gives off the
impression that Ginsberg is so passionate in what he is talking about that he does not need to stop until
he has said his whole piece. Part one also uses obscene language, which includes words such as sex,
f**king, semen, and a*s which further indicates the bluntness of the situation. Ginsberg uses a
symbolic language

The Importance Of Domestic Labor
It is not a secret that women often take on the majority of the parenting/household responsibilities in
heterosexual households. Sabattini explains, With the birth of the first child, the division of labor
between couples typically becomes more traditional as women assume the primary responsibility for
both household and parenting chores .... Although most mothers work outside of the home,
comparatively few fathers are equally involved in the domestic labor. This is referred to as the second
shift for mothers who have jobs outside of the home. Not only do mothers tend to do more of the
parenting labor (figure 1), they tend to do more of the feminine work while their male partner s do
more of the masculine work. Specifically, mothers do more household chores such as cooking,
cleaning, laundry, and dishes. Fathers tend to do more masculine chores such as home repair, lawn
care, and handling electronics. Mothers also tend to engage in more of the emotional labor of raising
children. Mothers are more likely to handle emotional distress, social training, and discipline.
According to Bush, Dads approach parenting with different priorities than we mothers do. They tend
to care less about dress, eating habits, and other details. Instead, dads tend to want to play with kids
more and challenge them more, and this can help kids gain confidence. Fathers are much less
concerned with mundane, day to day tasks. This concept is displayed in the home life of most people.

Donald Trump Interpretation
Accomplishments will prove to be a journey, not a destination. Dwight D. Eisenhower
This quote represents all that an american president, and really just any leader of any country should
be. A president should be able to take the trip through elections or even their past political or even
business experiences and still be able to get to their final destination. No, the journey may not be easy,
but what it proves to the people they are trying to persuade is that they have the effort to put forth and
keep going. No matter what happens or how far they fall, the fact that they get back up, brush off the
dirt and trudge on through the slop of politics is enough the prove they have more than what it takes to
perform well in the white house.
Donald trump won the presidential election due to many reasons, but some reasons were stronger than
others. His stance on gun control and abortion touched the heart of many true americans, while hilary
was winning the average foreign vote, Donald trump was out getting the votes from the true red,
white, and blue supporting American citizens. The issue of gun control was an issue weighing heavily
on many Americans across the nation. Some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The choice of life is something that a person should not be able to take away. If two people have sex
and the female gets pregnant, whether it be by accident or on purpose it is their responsibility to care
for the infant that they produced. Life is a blessing to everyone, even if the baby was not planned, it is
not the parents choice to decide if the child lives or dies. That baby has its own life and its own future
to live to. Trump says that on the topic the government should not pay for the process of abortion
because it is denying a person its right. It is denying a person its right to live and diminishing that on

The Tax Rate Of The United States
1. Imagine a friend says that he doesn t want to take a job that pays slightly more money only because
he will be bumped into the next tax bracket and end up taking home less income after taxes. Based on
the video Engager you watched in Unit 2, how would you advise this friend? Define marginal tax
rates. Then, explain why tax rates in the United States were designed to be marginal.
➢ A progressive tax, which the friend would be under in this situation, is one in which those with the
highest incomes pay the higher tax rate (Video Engager 2). I would advise this friend to take a closer
look at the situation; just because he is earning more money does not necessarily mean he will lose
more of what he earns to taxes. Instead, different safety features are built into the process to ensure
that those who earn more are not prevented from working harder or getting a promotion. For example,
those with a higher income can be incentivized through tax breaks from giving to charity or even
saving for retirement (Video Engager 2). These benefits encourage those in the higher income brackets
to continue to be motivated to earn more. In addition, the tax rates on higher income are marginalized.
Marginal tax rates mean that a high earner will only pay the higher tax on the portion of money that is
above the tax bracket. In other words, everyone will pay the same percentage of tax on the first
bracket of income, any income above that bracket will be taxed at a slightly higher rate, and

The Anti-Romani Regime
Despite the past forced assimilation processes, the majority of the Roma remained illiterate, as well as
often excluded from various employment opportunities and dependent on petty theft or begging up to
World War II.
These conditions worsened in the Protectorate. Being an ethnic minority and, by national socialist
standards, classed as racially inferior, the Romani people were a clear target and part of the Third
Reich s goal to purge Europe of all impure races .
Hence, anti Romani propaganda and measures, which would finally turn into a genocide, started soon
after the establishment of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia and continued throughout the war.
On November 11th 1940, when approximately 6 540 Czech Roma were living in the Protectorate,

Media In Politics Analysis
The media s role in politics should be to tell the people the facts about the candidates. They should
also tell us about candidates views, policies, rankings in the polls, and not give their own opinion of
the candidates. The media set the agenda on Democratic presidential nominee Bernie Sanders as being
a Socialist and not a real Democrat. Some media sources have believe this could hinder Sanders since
he is running as a Democrat, and some sources claim he has just as much potential as Hillary Clinton.
The following data was collected from new articles released between February 5th and February 8th,
2016. The topic of Sanders political status is a heated debate amongst the Democratic Party and for
that reason the media has failed to stick ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The articles that were found on the topic of Sanders Democratic standing induced both facts and
opinions. The media should be giving the people just the facts and letting the people make our own
opinions about the candidates. This can be hard to do as a report, but it should be done in order for
Americans to make their decisions without any influence from the news reporters. Knowing that
Sanders is more of a Socialist than a Democrat is a big part of his campaign and should be told to the
people, but the opinions of reports about his stance should not be covered on the

The Debate Over The Legalization Of Same Sex Marriage
Within the past few decades, as society has been adapting to various cultural changes, traditional
values have come into contest with more liberal values. One of the most prevalent examples of this is
the ongoing debate over the legalization of same sex marriage within America. In the article Supreme
Court should make gay marriage a national right by the editorial staff at the Boston Globe, the
importance of the upcoming Supreme Court ruling on same sex marriage was stressed because it is a
topic that has been dodged thus far. While numerous federal circuit courts have ruled on this issue,
some in favor and some opposed, the legal dispute of whether the decision should be left up to the
state democratic process will finally be settled. Through looking at previous key rulings in the cases
Zablocki v. Redhail and Loving v. Virginia, the editorial argued in favor of same sex marriage based
on the precedence that the Supreme Court has determined marriage as a fundamental right that should
be uniform across the country and equally available for every individual. However, while the editorial
staff asserts this right of marriage as an institution through those precedent cases, they do not go far
enough to justify why the selected court cases extend to same sex marriage, why marriage is a
fundamental right, and why this issue has been so controversial in the court of law. While the editorial
included the two court cases Zablocki v. Redhail and Loving v. Virginia, it failed to

An Almost Love Lost In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
An Almost Love Lost
Love lost is one of the most excruciating painful life altering wounds that any one person can suffer
from. Whether it is a partner, an animal, a friend, or family members each one of these can damage a
person when they lose what they deemed to be a requited loving feeling, or an attempt at one. In Mary
Shelley s Frankenstein, the creature starts to read what was known as one of the first romantic novel of
the 18th century, The sorrows of Young Werther among other novels like: Volney s Ruins of Empires,
John Milton s Paradise Lost, and Plutarch s Lives of the Nobel Greeks and Romans, or Parallel Lives.
This novel influenced the creature in a way that was different from the other texts that predominantly
ruled his mind frame; it was a novel that had human feelings due to its semi autobiographical nature. It

This part of his education was not intentional but it made way for him to allow his emotions to get the
better of him. He was watching a family being happy and then he took that away from them in the
end, and he also took away what little family Victor had left in order to make him feel how the
creature felt when he abandoned him. This is what he learned in the end, that there is only destruction
in love, nothing more and nothing less. Without love there is loneliness and despair, but there is no
death, with love you go through the tortuous process of possibly forever losing this love which would
kill you with an overwhelming sense of loss. The creature s education was lost on this novel and led to
a subconscious need for revenge because of what he did not receive during his adolescence. This led
to the destruction of not only Victors life but his own in the way of his

The Dairy Industry Is Humane
Lillie Colville Honors English 10 Period 2 March 12, 2016 The Dairy Industry is Humane The
agriculture industry, focusing on the dairy cattle industry, in the U.S.A. is humane and non abusive.
The Dairy Industry raises, breeds, and milks female dairy cattle. The cows are either bought from calf
farms or born at the dairy in which they are raised to be about one or two years old until they are bred
by a bull of their same breed. Then, once the heifers give birth, they are put into the milking process.
According to How much milk do cows give? , these cows will produce anywhere from 18,000 pounds
of milk per year to a record breaking 72,000 pounds per year. America has the fourth highest average
milk production records which is 21, 335 pounds per year as of 2015(1). These cows are milked twice
a day during their fresh period which is the 10 months after having a calf in which they are being
milked. The cows then rest for two months and are bred and milked for another 10 months. Overall,
milking cows in America live in the dairy industry for about six or seven years until they die naturally
or are killed off due to being not profitable to the dairy world. Animals are used in the agricultural
commodity industry due to their uses and lack of rights. Animal s rights are lower than human s rights
due to the fact that animals brains are not as developed as humans and cannot express feelings;
however, animals have basic rights to life and care from man (Rohr 20). Animals have

A Reasonable Explanation For Closed End Fund Puzzles
1.Introduction
Stock mutual funds consist of open end funds and closed end funds. There are different operations
between these two funds. Open end funds are purchased and sold by investors directly, however,
investors should purchase and sell closed end fund via stock market, then stock market trade with
closed end funds. Closed end funds characteristics decide that investors should sell closed end funds
to another investors, once they want to switch funds to liquidity. The price of closed end funds always
meets some aberrant circumstances, which are called closed end fund puzzles.
Closed end fund puzzles summarize four abnormal phenomenons which occur in funds price. Lee,
Shleifer and Thaler (1991) state that three elements (agency costs, tax liabilities and illiquidity of
assets) may quote for explanations of these puzzles in traditional finance. Nevertheless, they advocate
that analyzing puzzles base on behaviour finance, such as noise trader risk theory and individual
investor sentiment theory, can expound puzzles better.
This paper aim to find out a more reasonable explanation for closed end fund puzzles. In part one, the
description of puzzles will be given. Traditional standard explanation will be introduced and discussed
in part two. Part three will represent explanation in behaviour finance methods. Part four will compare
different articles evidences and findings. Part five will make conclusions.

The whole crowd stood in silence to see if Sandel was able to rise again. This moment will determine
if King was going to win or lose because he was getting dizzy, so he probably wouldn t be able to last
any longer, if Sandel gets back up. All that hard work and strategy that King did will depend on this
moment. The resolution of A Piece of Steak is when Tom King loss the fight and cried. When he was
crying, King realized why Stowsher Bill had cried that night twenty years ago when King had beaten
him in a match and he finally understands the reason behind it. Bill probably had rent to pay, family to
feed, and food to buy. Yet, King stole that away from him over glory and easy money. The steak that
might had helped Bill, King gave to feed his dog. This ending was the only way to finish the story
because the author is trying to inform the readers that life is an endless cycle where the youth will beat
and replace the elderly. The once prideful and easy moment in life where you can laugh at others
crying would soon be over and you will be the one crying while others laugh at you. The ending was
foreshadowed throughout the story when the narrator talked about how the youth will climb over the
bodies of the old uns, then they will become the old uns getting stepped on, and it will go on for
eternity. In addition, the words that the toff told King that night when King beat Bill

Persuasive Essay On Racial Profiling
In the United States racial profiling affects thousands of Americans every single day. Not many people
think about what racial profiling is, some people think it don t even think it exists or how it affects
everyday lives, but you or anyone could have possibly done it. Racial profiling is the use of race or
ethnicity as grounds for suspecting someone to committing an offense. According to American Civil
Liberties Union, Racial profiling is a nation wide problem. Stories have been reported across the
country not only by everyday citizens, but doctors, lawyers, judges, legislators, police/military
officers, and celebrities . Even though racial profiling is widespread, it should be stopped because of
its negative effects on people and America.
So why does racial profiling affect most races or ethnicity?
In an article by Evan Horowitz from The Boston Globe, was a great point about racial profiling
Horowitz says, When police start targeting people based on their race, it effectively puts a whole
community under suspicion. What is more, it virtually guarantees that the innocent will regularly find
themselves stopped by police, for little reason beyond the color of their skin . A good example which
proves the statement he made is true is police brutality. A lot of police brutality cases have happened
in the recent past of this year in addition to starting the Black Lives Matter protesting. But, a case of
police brutality that deals with racial profiling that stands out to me

Belonging is the complex process whereby perceptions of self and social allegiances are forged or not

belonging. According to Abraham Maslow, belonging is essential in human development and not
belonging is a barrier in achieving self actualisation. The concept of Belonging is not static as it may

This same technique is shown where Nan Dear finds an advertisement in the newspaper in Act 2
Scene 6 and says they ve got this new powder that guaranteed to turn your skin white. to Dolly. Due to
the differences in skin colour and tradition Aboriginals were seen as lower class citizens and were
alienated from the white society. Harrison shows this through the use of a simile in Act 1 Scene 1B
where Gladys describes the hessian used to hide the Aboriginal housing from the Queen as a band aid
over a sore , which creates a negative image of the Indigenous people and their housing. This idea of
being different from others around you is also excellently shown in Shaun Tan s picture book The Lost
Thing where the majority of the book s images are made up of dull, unattractive colours such as
browns, greys and whites that create a plain and ordinary background. The colour of the thing is a
bright red that immediately catches the reader s eyes, drawing their attention to it. This use of contrast
of colour shows that the thing is lost, as it obviously does not belong to its surroundings. The
exceptional use of these techniques to develop an idea of segregation as a barrier to self actualisation
causes the responder to explore the character s feelings of isolation and rejection.
Although people may feel isolated and alienated from everything around them, they are never alone. It
is not possible to be completely disconnected from everything. For example, a man who has

Analysis Of The Day The Music Died
Released in 1971! Even over 45 years later remains one of the most conversed and debated songs.
Boldly original and thematically ambitious, what set American Pie apart had a lot to do with the way
we weren t entirely sure what the song was about, provoking endless debates over its epic cast of
characters. His eight minute long rock and roll American dream became an anthem for an entire
generation who memorized every line.
Children grew up singing it fascinated by the mysterious lyrics with their cryptic references to 50s
innocence, the turbulent 60s, and 70s disillusion.
Who broke the church bells?
Who was the jester who sang for the king and queen?
And what really was revealed
the day the music died ?
When people ask Don McLean what does American Pie really mean, he likes to reply: It means I
never have to work again.
Passion for the song can be derived from the fact that there are fan websites entirely dedicated to
solving these mysteries.
But now at long last, the inspirations behind his Song of the Century are to be revealed after McLean
put his original manuscript up for auction. These 16 pages of handwritten notes, which have laid
hidden away in a box in his home for 43 years, were sold for $1.2m (£800,000) at Christie s in New
York, to an anonymous bidder.

The song can be divided into roughly 5 sections:
Prologue (verse 1) A look back from early 70 s and sets up platform for other verses;
Act I (verse 2) Establishes the 1950s as the reference

How To Replace A Roof
Addressing roof problems
Tips on how to determine whether it is best to repair damage or replace entire roof
When it comes to doing home improvements, homeowners have to make good decisions in order to
meet with success without injuring themselves or messing up their homes. This is especially true for a
job that involves doing something to the roof. Whether the job is repairing damaged areas or installing
a new roof, hiring an Austin roofing professional is one of the best decisions that homeowners can
make, and that is because such a professional will have the necessary skills to complete all the work
safely and efficiently. Furthermore, homeowners will have less pressure on their shoulders and more
time to devote to other important matters. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The only downside is that the new shingles may not match the ones already on the roof, but that
matters little if the goal is to shore up the roof so that it will last for years to come. If homeowners are
looking to put their homes on the market, then perhaps the best course of action is to have a
professional contractor order the right type of shingles for the patch job. Potential buyers tend to zero
in on the condition of homes, looking for anything that is out of place.
If the damage happens to be so extensive that a patch job would not be enough, then homeowners
ought to let a professional contractor install a new roof. This option, depending on the size of the
home, will be rather costly, but it goes without saying that putting in a new roof will prove worthwhile
in the long run as there many benefits to

In general, media refers to the implement of mass communication, it consists of newspaper,
magazines, television, the internet and so forth. There is a huge amount of media users around the
world which means the number of audiences is large. As generally acknowledged, nowadays, the
spread of news, entertainment has a rapid speed through the media and mass communication. The
public opinions and thoughts can be easily affected by the spread of media, also, mass communication
of the news media may provide some bias and prejudice of the news. In this sense, to have a powerful
communication tool, the agenda setting theory demonstrates that it is better if shaping the various
news in order to create a moral society (Kiousis and McCombs, 2004). In general, agenda setting
describes the effects of the media on the general public, the ability to choose important issues (Moon
2011, p.699). The sense of agenda setting has been deeply accepted by the public a long time ago. In
1992, Walter Lippmann (1992), a newspaper columnist, argued that the mass media has the ability to
produce images of events that can be present to the public. Since 1948, Lazarsfeld and Metton (1948)
acknowledged that the function of the press to give specific status upon events it emphasizes. Till
1959, Norton Long (Long 1958) also illustrated that media will grasp specific attention from the

AArticle On Animal Eyes
This article is about different animal eyes. It presents different eyes and how they help that particular
animal survive and thrive in its environment. It has five different sections that are all very different but
tie into each other. It names several unique animals and has multiple photos to go along with each
section. Even just at first glance, this article is very eye catching (no pun intended). At the least, the
photographs from this article could be used various ways in a classroom. You could identify the
animal each set of eyes belongs to and talk about the physical differences: shape, color, position, and
other physical features. The pictures could be cut out and then in half to create a matching game. Just
using the photographs, you could also compare our eyes to the eyes of these animals. A point of view
activity with these photos would be interesting and engaging as well. Students could choose a set of
animal eyes and write about what they are looking at! Getting into the actual information that the
article presents, it is broken down into sections: eye position, eye size, eye protection, oddball eyes,
and our eyes. Using these categories, students could research and find other animals that fit into each.
We could also discuss the significance of each. Why does the size of some animal s eyes matter, why
does the positioning of animals eyes matter, why is the protection of the eyes important, etc. We could
pretend we had eyes like some of these

Rhetorical Devices Used In A Change To Come By Gcse
Sam Cooke, A Change is Gonna Come
Heralded by many as the anthem to the Civil Rights Movement, A Change is Gonna Come by Sam
Cooke was and still is one of the most influential songs of all time. The song was originally released
in 1964 on the album Ain t That Good News , but was released again as a single eleven days after Sam
Cooke s untimely death on the 11th of December, 1964.
There is no other social movement so effected by pop culture in the last century than the black Civil
Rights Movement in America during the 1960s. The music at the time had political motivation and yet
it was still enjoyed widely as pop music. Sam Cooke was one of the few African American artists of
his generation to successfully crossover and reach both a white and black audience. In the midst of the
Civil Rights Movement, Cooke was wary to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He sings; I go to the movie and I go down town/Somebody keep telling me don t hang around ,
referring, of course, to the incident in the Louisiana. This lyric, while seeming innocuous, spoke to all
of his coloured fans as it was a situation they were all to familiar with. The middle eight, which reads;
Then I go to my brother / And I say, Brother, help me please. / But he winds up knockin me / Back
down on my knees. , is a phrase highlighting the aggression the movement received from the police
force during their marches. The very people meant to protect and serve ended up being one of the
biggest obstacles to overcome during the notorious peace walks. Despite the air of anguish
throughout, it is a song of hope. The famed lyrics; It s been a long, a long time coming / But I know a
change gon come , that appear at the end of every verse, are the bones on which the whole song is
built. Even after Cooke s death, this message remained one of positivity and aspiration. His epitaph

Examples Of Rambling Autobiography
Rambling Autobiography Nicholas Hill My only memory of first grade is learning cursive and having
far worse handwriting than other classmates. Probably my favorite memory from elementary school is
recess and playing with friends. Middle school came around and was probably the first time I was
really nervous to go to school, but by the end I realized how fun it was and all the trouble I got into.
Before school every started for me I enjoyed playing outside climbing trees. Every time fall came
around I looked forward to jumping in piles of leaves, carving pumpkins and halloween. In 8th grade I
started skiing which is my favorite winter hobby. The first time I went on a airplane was last
year(2016) when we went to Florida then took a cruise to the Bahamas. I m hate spiders and snakes
especially big snakes and spiders. One of my favorite memories as a child is when went on a short
vacation in New Hampshire and stayed in a really cool cabin with a stream behind it that made for the
best sleep ever. Another time I went to New Hampshire was with my Aunt and Uncle and we stayed in
a house they own near Hampton Beach, which was the first time I ever went to a big beach. In 6th
grade my family and my friends family went to the Damariscotta Lake State Park almost every day
and had barbecue chicken on the regular, along with hamburgers and hotdogs. We also went to the
majority of state parks in Maine because we got a state park pass book and there is a challenge in it to

Video Games Affecting Youth
The violence that children execute in today s modern time could have a new factor that parents could
not even imagine. Many children today spend most of their time playing video games and this could
reflect a negative role in a child s bad behaviors. Nearly all children, especially in the United States,
have or have had a video game console or some type of electronic device that contain video games.
Video games in general are not to be blamed but a certain category that majority of the gamers play is

Children whom play a lot of console games tend to sacrifice their time of hanging out with their
friends and could probably show some undesirable change in the person s public relations.
Adolescents that play a lot of interactive games are less social and outgoing. Several respondents
mentioned that gaming online provided them the opportunity to get away, to flee from their everyday
problems (Frostling Henningsson 4). These young people use their time to play games instead of
facing their problems and fixing them. Instead they let their problems stack up and interfere with their
lives severely. Interest in other activities such as listening to music, art, or reading (57.0%), watching
TV, DVDs, or playing video games (48.1%), and using electronic media including internet and texting
(47.8%) were the most common reasons for not spending time outside (Larson 1). Almost fifty percent
of the reason children do not go outside is because of console games. Technology has interfered with
teen s outdoor activity times and reduced their hours outside. Video games are taking over many
adolescents childhoods. Imagine if the only memory a child had was only about video games, they
would probably regret wasting a lot of their time. Moments that cannot be replaced wasted right in
front of TV and digital devices. This decrease in spending time outside and being with friends creates
problems in their social skills. But going outside is not the main concern,

Reflection Paper On Poverty Walk
Introduction Going into the Poverty Walk assignment, the thought of burdening myself with further
limitation on my financial life past what I experience daily was extremely stressful. Honestly, I felt
tears welling up in my eyes as I thought, How can I make this happen? I am a single mom with
enormous levels of responsibilities on my shoulders, and can this assignment be possible? Per
government standards, my family and I already live below the poverty line with three family members
living well below the income level of $20,420 (U.S. Department Health and Human Services, 2017).
Knowing that I have been following the tight fisted way of life taught to me by Dave Ramsey for a
few years, I felt confidence that I just needed to adapt and figure out the best way to fit my life into
this assignment. A few things I had working for my challenge were the fact that I am a farmer, hunter,
fisherwoman, and I work with children so I could eat at work for free. I am currently enrolled in
school, volunteer as a Girl Scout troop leader, farm from home, work full time on a military
installation and parent two wonderful girls. This left little room for one more responsibility but I
committed myself and jumped in with two feet. I posted on social media that I was dropping off the
map for the next few days, told my co workers and friends not to text or call me, and warned my Girl
Scout parents I would be out of the loop for almost a week. Away I went to the land of the cheap and
free. Day One Wake up time at 6 a.m. and realized I would not be able to check Facebook, or get up to
date on the daily dose of ridiculous videos that always ate up about an hour of my precious time.
Began my day by calculating the cost of drinking coffee made from home, and found relief realizing it
was only $0.06 per cup. I walked my older daughter to the bus stop then got ready for the morning
without showering, with clean clothes that I prepared ahead of time. I carted my younger daughter off
to her school, which I considered caregiving, and outside of the realm of travel, from which I headed
to work. I work with young children where we model good eating habits in a family style dining
setting, where we eat every three hours. This provided me

Also part of someone s identity is their personality. America is well known for being a welcoming
place. Being known as a welcoming place is part of someone s identity. The American identity is still
alive, it is known for welcoming people and making them feel comfortable and making them feel at
home. The American identity has not been degraded because America is still the welcoming country.
The identity has not been degraded by any new culture or tradition. The American identity is still alive
because America is known for being a place that is ruled by the people and has made a dream for
everybody. Additionally, America is also known for being a free place. It is known that everyone must
be treated equally and have their own rights. For example, part of the American identity is being
known for practicing democracy. People being free, having their rights protected, and having equal
treatment is what makes up the American identity. Those three factors are still going on meaning that
the American identity is still alive and nothing has changed it at all. Another reason why the American
identity is still alive because part of someone s identity is again being know for something or
influencing something. Another example, is that many people have immigrated to the United States
for the American dream. That is a huge contributor to the American identity because it has influenced
many people to come. The American dream is still alive so the American identity is still

From The Perspective Of Theorists Covered In The Course,
From the perspective of theorists covered in the course, critically evaluate the role educators can play
in counteracting dominant power through their practices.
French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu (1930 2002) was arguably the foremost sociologist of the twentieth
century (Rawolle Lingard, 2013). For Bourdieu, society was one in which, those who govern are
prisoners of a reassuring entourage of young, white, middle class technocrats who often know almost
nothing about the everyday lives of their fellow citizens and have no occasion to be reminded of their
ignorance (Bourdieu, 1999, p. 627).
Furthermore, Bourdieu argued that the education systems of the western world function in such a way
as to reproduce the class system and social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Recent statistics highlight the strong relationships between parental social class and educational
achievement at GCSE level, in addition to the likelihood of pupils eligible for free school meals to be
less successful at GCSE level and Level 3 qualifications than those not eligible (DfE, 2011; Lupton
Thompson, 2015; DfE, 2016a). Furthermore, the link between levels of social class and participation
in higher education is well documented, with those individuals from lower class backgrounds less
likely to access higher education (Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, 2015; DfE, 2016b;
Bathmaker, et al., 2013). Moreover, research conducted by the Social Mobility and Child Poverty
Commission (2013) found that 70% of people surveyed agreed that a good education was key to
getting a good job, yet almost half thought it remained unlikely for most children from lower income
families, with 65% of those surveyed regarding who you know as more important than what you know
. In short, the dominant power within an educational setting is held by those in higher social class
positions.
Before exploring the extent to which an educator can counteract the dominant power of the higher
classes, which reinforces and reproduces the class divide and inequality in higher education, it is
important to understand the work of Bourdieu, his influence on social theory and the key concepts

For territory? No. You have enough of that. Citizens refugees? No. you would be willing to dispense

that there would be nothing to gain from invading Canada. The only thing you can get from invading

Enlightment for Fredrick the Great of Prussia and Joseph...
Frederick the Great of Prussia and Joseph II of Austria adopted the newfound ideas of the
Enlightenment to different extents with Frederick the Great advancing the ideas by implementing
religious toleration, freedom of speech and press, and setting a single code of laws for all of his
subjects and not advancing them by not abolishing serfdom for fear of upsetting the Junkers , or
Prussian nobility; Joseph II advanced the ideas of the Enlightenment eagerly by completely abolishing
serfdom paying no heed to what it could cause socially and politically and he didn t advance these

Most of these reforms though were to please the querulous nobility and prevent them from trying to

owned large amounts of land had many serfs to farm it. Many of these Junkers also held important
military ranks in the army. Frederick the Great could have chosen to abolish serfdom but did not for
this would greatly anger the Junkers, the backbone of the Prussian state and military. It was said that
Prussia was not a country with an army: it was an army with a country. In Frederick s military, he did

Summary Of Emily Grierson And Doa Ernestina
There are two different stories and two different characters facing the loss of a loved one. Emily
Grierson and Doña Ernestina go through a difficult time and recover from their grief just before both
their lives end. The two stories, A Rose for Emily and Nada , talk about their protagonist going
through the loss of a loved one. Emily Grierson and Doña Ernestina are more similar than different
because they lose someone whom they love and are affected greatly, which leads them to depression
and loneliness, and they mourn in a different way than usual.
Emily Grierson loses two loved ones, her father and the man she loved, Homer Barron. Doña
Ernestina loses her husband and her son. The two characters live a lonely and isolated life. In A Rose
for Emily , Emily s father separates her from society and makes sure she has no lovers. When he dies,
she has to accept the reality that she has no one and has to find her role in society instead of being an
outcast. The story does not mention any siblings or her mother, giving off the appearance that she is
isolated and disconnected. Emily lives in a big house alone. Emily refuses to acknowledge that her
father dies, so the town has to pester Emily for her father s burial. She finally breaks down and buries
her father. Emily stays in the house for several months, aging as time comes along. She meets Homer
Barron and falls in love with him but finds out he has no interest in her. The townspeople pity her,
saying Poor Emily. Her kinsfolk should come to her (Faulkner 180) because they know she seeks a
lover. When she meets Homer Barron, she kills him. After Emily s death the townspeople think that
she has been sleeping next to Homer s dead body. Emily does this because she does not want to sleep
alone because it means she is alone. In Nada, Doña Ernestina is also left in isolation with no
remaining family; not only having to deal with her husband s death, but later she has to deal with her
son s death leading her to more depression. Now, she feels she has nada , meaning nothing. She
dresses in full mourning attire but does not break down or cry. She thinks she has no one; however,

Essay on Fools Rush In and My Big Fat Greek Wedding
Fools Rush In and My Big Fat Greek Wedding
Every movie that is written has a certain attitude to it. Some of these are intended to be laughed at and
others are meant to be heartfelt. Though each movie is written with its own voice, so to speak, many
have similar plots or themes. The two movies Fools Rush In and My Big Fat Greek Wedding are two
of these movies that have similarities in the themes, but not necessarily in the plots. Both of these
romantic comedies have strong religious backgrounds on the woman s side of the family and

Greek culture a woman is to marry a Greek man, have Greek babies and feed everyone in the family

She hides him from her family for as long as possible, but the truth is revealed. Her family makes it

in the end they are joyful in the outcome of their lives together. They also have Greek children and

what their hearts are telling them and what they have been raised to know their entire lives. The
struggle to overcome the fact that their intended may not be accepted is one that is handled with many

Analysis Of The Man In Mccarthy s The Road
In a world that was changed by chaos, The Man remained the same man from the beginning of the
novel until the end. Throughout his journey on The Road, The Man s dedication to the survival of The
Boy and never faltered, and stayed constant no matter what life threw at him. The Man ended his
expedition on The Road the same man as when he started it.
At the beginning of the novel, the reader is introduced to the one defining character trait of The Man:
his devotion to his son. This concept is a staple in The Man s personality, and greatly affects his
actions. We see his devotion through small acts like how The Man sleeps with The Boy to keep him
warm and how The Boy always drinks, eats, and bathes before The Man. The reader sees a larger
example of this commitment when a bad guy threatened The Boy with a knife. The Man swiftly and
ruthlessly shot the man who fell back instantly and lay with blood bubbling from the hole in his
forehead. (McCarthy.). Rather than simply incapacitating the bad guy, The Man made sure that at least
that man would never be able to hurt or threaten The Boy again. The Man is not only devoted to his
son, but he is committed to his goals of heading South. Even though they made some stops along the
way, the idea of getting South and to the shore never wavered from The Man s head. The intensity that
The Man devoted to protecting The Boy continued as their journey did. When someone started
shooting the two men with arrows, the readers were treated to

Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, and the Bill of Rights. The Declaration of
Independence s solitary purpose was to announce our intention of rebelling against Great Britain, as
well as to provide a detailed list of why the

John Wilkes Booth s Assassination To Kill Abe Lincoln
Our country owed all her troubles to him, and God simply made me the instrument of his punishment.
These are the words that John Wilkes Booth, the assassin of President Abraham Lincoln, wrote in his
diary after his crime. The sources used were Chasing Lincoln s Killer, biography.com, and Booth s
diary. He felt that he had reasoning for killing Lincoln. There were many factors that motivated Booth
to kill Abe Lincoln. First of all, John Wilkes Booth witnessed John Brown s execution. Booth saw that
in John Brown s actions, he almost made his dream come true. John Brown s actions were violent and
Booth was inspired by him. Booth thought that if he did the same, his dream might have came true as
well. According to biography.com,

History of Calculus Essay
History of Calculus
The history of calculus falls into several distinct time periods, most notably the ancient, medieval, and
modern periods. The ancient period introduced some of the ideas of integral calculus, but does not
seem to have developed these ideas in a rigorous or systematic way. Calculating volumes and areas,
the basic function of integral calculus, can be traced back to the Egyptian Moscow papyrus (c. 1800
BC), in which an Egyptian successfully calculated the volume of a pyramidal frustum.[1][2] From the
school of Greek mathematics, Eudoxus (c. 408 #8722;355 BC) used the method of exhaustion, which
prefigures the concept of the limit, to calculate areas and volumes while Archimedes (c. 287
#8722;212 BC) developed this idea ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Europe, the second half of the 17th century was a time of major innovation. Calculus provided a
new opportunity in mathematical physics to solve long standing problems. Several mathematicians
contributed to these breakthroughs, notably John Wallis and Isaac Barrow. James Gregory proved a
special case of the second fundamental theorem of calculus in AD 1668.
Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz was originally accused of plagiarism of Sir Isaac Newton s unpublished
works, but is now regarded as an independent inventor and contributor towards calculus.
Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz was originally accused of plagiarism of Sir Isaac Newton s unpublished
works, but is now regarded as an independent inventor and contributor towards calculus.
Leibniz and Newton pulled these ideas together into a coherent whole and they are usually credited
with the independent and nearly simultaneous invention of calculus. Newton was the first to apply
calculus to general physics and Leibniz developed much of the notation used in calculus today; he
often spent days determining appropriate symbols for concepts. The basic insight that both Newton
and Leibniz had was the fundamental theorem of calculus.
When Newton and Leibniz first published their results, there was great

Questions On Class Hierarchy Analysis
In other words, I started from the entry point and went through all the statements of method body.
Based on Class Hierarchy Analysis definition, for each call site b.n( ) in the method block, if static
type(b)=B, Then the targets of call site b.n( ) will be all concrete (non abstract) methods having the
same signature as method B.n( ) and declared by B or by any concrete subclasses of B including B
itself. According to this definition, I added reachable methods of each call site to the worklist then
made edges from source to reachable methods.
// initialization worklist.initialize() ; worklist while (worklist != empty) {
// remove next method from worklist
Method source = worklist.removeNext() ;
// process statements in source method for each (stmt in source) {
// if statement is a method/constructor call Method if (stmt is a InvokeStmt) { n =
stmt.getInvokedMethod() ;
List reachables = resolveDispatch(n) ; for each (Method target in reachables){ worklist.add (target) ;
callgraph.addEdge (source  target) ;
} // end of for} // end of if
} // end of for} // end of while
(A worklist approach for CHA algorithm)
The method resolveDispatch( ) finds reachable methods of each call site b.n( ) and for computing
reachable methods, at first I check if static type(b)= B and if B declares by signature method B.n( ),
then reachable methods are method n( ) in class B and all methods having signature B.n( ) defined in
concrete subclasses of B, else I have to look at the concrete

  • 2. The Era Of Madness And Confinement The Era of Madness and Confinement The 1950s was an era of civil conflict for the United States. Although it the post World War II era and the United States was the world s strongest military, there was a war going on within its own society. (Ginsberg, 1) This generation dealt with civil rights movements and communism at the home. ( The 1950s ) But with all the pressure of all that is going on around this how did this generation turn out? It was during this time that author Allen Ginsberg wrote his poem Howl, which was broken up into three parts. In his poem Howl, Allen Ginsberg uses an outlandish writing style in order to demonstrate the madness and imprisonment felt by his generation. The first line of the poem sets the theme ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was during the late 1940s and early 1950s that the Red Scare was known because of the communist in the United States. ( Red Scare ) Part one further refers to the madness of the people and actions that give off the impression that they have been driven mad. The poem as a whole is written in a way that strays from the norm. The lack of commas in certain lines gives off a tone of hysteria because the lack of a pause in between details. For example the line, ...destroyed by madness, starving hysterical naked... (Ginsberg, 1) The words starving hysterical naked would be said in a fast pace that would make the tone seem non stop or hyper. Ginsberg also decides to save the period for the very last line, which would indicate that part one, is an extensive sentence. By doing so it also gives off a hysterical tone because he does not stop but simply takes short pauses in between each line. It gives off the impression that Ginsberg is so passionate in what he is talking about that he does not need to stop until he has said his whole piece. Sabattini explains, With the birth of the first child, the division of labor between couples typically becomes more traditional as women assume the primary responsibility for both household and parenting chores .... Although most mothers work outside of the home, comparatively few fathers are equally involved in the domestic labor. This is referred to as the second shift for mothers who have jobs outside of the home. Not only do mothers tend to do more of the parenting labor (figure 1), they tend to do more of the feminine work while their male partner s do more of the masculine work. Specifically, mothers do more household chores such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, and dishes. Fathers tend to do more masculine chores such as home repair, lawn care, and handling electronics. Mothers also tend to engage in more of the emotional labor of raising children. Mothers are more likely to handle emotional distress, social training, and discipline. According to Bush, Dads approach parenting with different priorities than we mothers do. They tend to care less about dress, eating habits, and other details. Instead, dads tend to want to play with kids more and challenge them more, and this can help kids gain confidence. Fathers are much less concerned with mundane, day to day tasks. Eisenhower This quote represents all that an american president, and really just any leader of any country should be. A president should be able to take the trip through elections or even their past political or even business experiences and still be able to get to their final destination. No, the journey may not be easy, but what it proves to the people they are trying to persuade is that they have the effort to put forth and keep going. No matter what happens or how far they fall, the fact that they get back up, brush off the dirt and trudge on through the slop of politics is enough the prove they have more than what it takes to perform well in the white house. • 5. The Tax Rate Of The United States 1. Imagine a friend says that he doesn t want to take a job that pays slightly more money only because he will be bumped into the next tax bracket and end up taking home less income after taxes. Based on the video Engager you watched in Unit 2, how would you advise this friend? Define marginal tax rates. Then, explain why tax rates in the United States were designed to be marginal. ➢ A progressive tax, which the friend would be under in this situation, is one in which those with the highest incomes pay the higher tax rate (Video Engager 2). I would advise this friend to take a closer look at the situation; just because he is earning more money does not necessarily mean he will lose more of what he earns to taxes. Instead, different safety features are built into the process to ensure that those who earn more are not prevented from working harder or getting a promotion. For example, those with a higher income can be incentivized through tax breaks from giving to charity or even saving for retirement (Video Engager 2). These benefits encourage those in the higher income brackets to continue to be motivated to earn more. In addition, the tax rates on higher income are marginalized. Marginal tax rates mean that a high earner will only pay the higher tax on the portion of money that is above the tax bracket. In other words, everyone will pay the same percentage of tax on the first bracket of income, any income above that bracket will be taxed at a slightly higher rate, and ... The Debate Over The Legalization Of Same Sex Marriage Within the past few decades, as society has been adapting to various cultural changes, traditional values have come into contest with more liberal values. One of the most prevalent examples of this is the ongoing debate over the legalization of same sex marriage within America. In the article Supreme Court should make gay marriage a national right by the editorial staff at the Boston Globe, the importance of the upcoming Supreme Court ruling on same sex marriage was stressed because it is a topic that has been dodged thus far. While numerous federal circuit courts have ruled on this issue, some in favor and some opposed, the legal dispute of whether the decision should be left up to the state democratic process will finally be settled. Through looking at previous key rulings in the cases Zablocki v. Redhail and Loving v. Virginia, the editorial argued in favor of same sex marriage based on the precedence that the Supreme Court has determined marriage as a fundamental right that should be uniform across the country and equally available for every individual. However, while the editorial staff asserts this right of marriage as an institution through those precedent cases, they do not go far enough to justify why the selected court cases extend to same sex marriage, why marriage is a fundamental right, and why this issue has been so controversial in the court of law. Harrison shows this through the use of a simile in Act 1 Scene 1B where Gladys describes the hessian used to hide the Aboriginal housing from the Queen as a band aid over a sore , which creates a negative image of the Indigenous people and their housing. This idea of being different from others around you is also excellently shown in Shaun Tan s picture book The Lost Thing where the majority of the book s images are made up of dull, unattractive colours such as browns, greys and whites that create a plain and ordinary background. The colour of the thing is a bright red that immediately catches the reader s eyes, drawing their attention to it. This use of contrast of colour shows that the thing is lost, as it obviously does not belong to its surroundings. The exceptional use of these techniques to develop an idea of segregation as a barrier to self actualisation causes the responder to explore the character s feelings of isolation and rejection. It has five different sections that are all very different but tie into each other. It names several unique animals and has multiple photos to go along with each section. Even just at first glance, this article is very eye catching (no pun intended). At the least, the photographs from this article could be used various ways in a classroom. You could identify the animal each set of eyes belongs to and talk about the physical differences: shape, color, position, and other physical features. The pictures could be cut out and then in half to create a matching game. Just using the photographs, you could also compare our eyes to the eyes of these animals. A point of view activity with these photos would be interesting and engaging as well. Students could choose a set of animal eyes and write about what they are looking at! Getting into the actual information that the article presents, it is broken down into sections: eye position, eye size, eye protection, oddball eyes, and our eyes. Using these categories, students could research and find other animals that fit into each. We could also discuss the significance of each. The middle eight, which reads; Then I go to my brother / And I say, Brother, help me please. / But he winds up knockin me / Back down on my knees. , is a phrase highlighting the aggression the movement received from the police force during their marches. Before school every started for me I enjoyed playing outside climbing trees. Every time fall came around I looked forward to jumping in piles of leaves, carving pumpkins and halloween. One of my favorite memories as a child is when went on a short vacation in New Hampshire and stayed in a really cool cabin with a stream behind it that made for the best sleep ever. Reflection Paper On Poverty Walk Introduction Going into the Poverty Walk assignment, the thought of burdening myself with further limitation on my financial life past what I experience daily was extremely stressful. Honestly, I felt tears welling up in my eyes as I thought, How can I make this happen? I am a single mom with enormous levels of responsibilities on my shoulders, and can this assignment be possible? Per government standards, my family and I already live below the poverty line with three family members living well below the income level of $20,420 (U.S. Department Health and Human Services, 2017). Knowing that I have been following the tight fisted way of life taught to me by Dave Ramsey for a few years, I felt confidence that I just needed to adapt and figure out the best way to fit my life into this assignment. A few things I had working for my challenge were the fact that I am a farmer, hunter, fisherwoman, and I work with children so I could eat at work for free. I am currently enrolled in school, volunteer as a Girl Scout troop leader, farm from home, work full time on a military installation and parent two wonderful girls. This left little room for one more responsibility but I committed myself and jumped in with two feet. I posted on social media that I was dropping off the map for the next few days, told my co workers and friends not to text or call me, and warned my Girl Scout parents I would be out of the loop for almost a week. From The Perspective Of Theorists Covered In The Course, From the perspective of theorists covered in the course, critically evaluate the role educators can play in counteracting dominant power through their practices. French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu (1930 2002) was arguably the foremost sociologist of the twentieth century (Rawolle Lingard, 2013). For Bourdieu, society was one in which, those who govern are prisoners of a reassuring entourage of young, white, middle class technocrats who often know almost nothing about the everyday lives of their fellow citizens and have no occasion to be reminded of their ignorance (Bourdieu, 1999, p. 627). Furthermore, the link between levels of social class and participation in higher education is well documented, with those individuals from lower class backgrounds less likely to access higher education (Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, 2015; DfE, 2016b; Bathmaker, et al., 2013). Moreover, research conducted by the Social Mobility and Child Poverty Commission (2013) found that 70% of people surveyed agreed that a good education was key to getting a good job, yet almost half thought it remained unlikely for most children from lower income families, with 65% of those surveyed regarding who you know as more important than what you know . In short, the dominant power within an educational setting is held by those in higher social class positions. The Man ended his expedition on The Road the same man as when he started it. At the beginning of the novel, the reader is introduced to the one defining character trait of The Man: his devotion to his son. This concept is a staple in The Man s personality, and greatly affects his actions.
