The Controversy Of Race And Authority
Has one ever felt disheartened watching the news and the headlines says that there was another
minority victim in an officer related shooting? Has one ever wondered why race versus authority is
such a huge problem? Has one ever asked how did society get this far as to physically harming law
enforcement? The answer is the media has allowed it to get this far. Race relations and authority has
been a deep rooted problem since the founding of this nation. By enslaving Africans and other
ethnicities, wealthy white forced them to long hard toils under the sun. Fast forward to the middle 19th
century and those enslaved have been set free yet those people are still being oppressed. Fast forward
now to the middle 20th century where one hundred ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only that, but constantly churning out stories about the incident every hour until it ceases to matter
to them anymore. The media do not realize the problems created by the haphazard ways of this kind of
reporting. In the 1950 s, media could be said as being the polar opposite of today.
The 1950 s were a time in which televised news sources were not as frequent and plentiful as they are
now. One particular situation that needs to be pointed out happened right in the city of Montgomery,
known as the Montgomery Bus Boycott, shows just how effective media can be when the priority is to
give the news without hyperbole or exaggeration. Going to Randall Kennedy s Yale Law article, the
writer describes the climate of the south at this time period Segregation was a way of life determined
in large part by whites who virtually monopolized state power and used that power to subjugate
blacks. (Kennedy) This is what minorities went through in the beautiful state of Alabama. The media
effectively allowed the visual representation of what was happening in Montgomery at the time. Of
course, there were some bias because of the majority white journalists at the time, but it was difficult
to state anything other than the truth with video evidence and picture evidence proving the reality.
Media is such a privilege in

Prayer Beads In Religion
Prayer beads have a important role in the history of believers as they seek to deepen their connection
to God. Prayer beads, according to a study in 1987, are a tool for prayer used by five major religions;
Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, Islam and Christianity (Wernik, 361)(Television 430). Not only are
prayer beads used in religion but there is also a branch of secular prayer beads, called worry beads;
which are used as a stress management tool (Wernik, 362). The book, A Bead and a Prayer, is an
excellent resource in learning the basic premise and theories associated with praying with Prayer
beads. The book explores four integral questions regarding the use of Prayer Beads; Why use prayer
beads? Why prayer beads for Protestants? How to use ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Numerous Protestant assume that prayer beads are a solely Catholic ritual, one that is not for them
(40). It is easy to forget that both Catholic and Protestants share a common history, thus the use of
beads or tangible elements. In their quest to prayer without ceasing, early desert dwellers commenced
praying the entire psalter daily (43). As the monks began to memorize the psalms, they required a
system to count; a bowl or pocket with pebbles or stones (43). Since this method is not the most
portable, prayer ropes were created around the fourth century. In the middle ages, the daily office,
become the new way to pray without ceasing (43). As the daily office was primarily reserved for
monastic communities, lay people were encouraged to say the Lord s Prayer one hundred and fifty
times; the tool for counting this become the rosary or as it was once called the poor man s psalter (44).
While Martin Luther warned against the idle use of empty prayer, it is possible that he did not disagree
with the use of beads in prayer (44). Luther modified the Hail Mary prayer so that it contained only
biblical text (46). Since habits are hard to break, the use of the Hail Mary, the rosary fell out of use
among Protestants. In Old English, the word bed means prayer

Using a Fashion Image, Explore the Strengths and...
FASHION MEDIA Using a fashion image, explore the strengths and limitations of a semiotic
analysis. Abstract; This essay will aim to elucidate the use of semiotic analysis using fashion
iconography and imagery as its primary medium. We will aim to explore the strengths and limitations
of semiotic analysis through a process of dissection; where we will explain how imagery has been
layered to give voice to what the artist has chosen to communicate, without the use of syntax.
Introduction; We live in an image filled world. Whether they are encountered in galleries, the internet

This is through consideration of the object photographed; the method of lighting, technical parameters
and the representation that the photographer wishes to portray. The connotation is how something is
photographed, while the denotation is what is photographed. What is important in this scenario is that
the essence of the picture is manipulated by one or more of these external factors. It may be argued
that the art of photography itself is not organic, but merely the careful manipulation of external
elements, constructed by the artist. However, Barthes does not consider photography as an analogue, a
puerile denoted message, yet ironically that is how most people instinctively see. Objects
photographed (denoted) for non artistic pictures such as documentaries are perceived by the viewer as
portraying characteristics of the truth, rather than being used as stylistic mediums. According to
Barthes, in the case of traumatic images where tragic events are depicted, even those that have long

essence of the connotation is not in this case in the transmission, but is related to other factors. There

Stereotypes In Magazines
There is an abundance of ads in magazines that may not pertain to you at all. But, there are those few
ad s some see while skimming through a magazine while in line to check out at the grocery store that
catch your attention. Many will look at the ad while they are waiting in line and some will even
purchase the magazine as they are interested in what they are both seeing and reading. People will see
many ads in magazines. Most with the intent to get one to purchase a product of some kind. While I

personalities will surround it, for example.
To undertake effective communication, provide a very positive image of his company and maximise
its business, the creator must necessarily proceed in stages. The company cannot communicate
anything to anyone. She must first identify the targets, investors, customers, suppliers, and assign
levels of importance.
The customer is the strength of a company. She must focus all its means to target service concept.
The customer service allows companies to retain their customers advantageously distinguished from

The customer service is the ability of skilled employees, to provide products and services to their
internal or external customers, to satisfy their needs, apparent or not, to enjoy an advertisement by
word of mouth that will bring positive new buyers.
For many companies, customer service is summarised in the following activities: responding to
customer questions, receives commands, resolve disagreements about billing and handle claims. The
service can be made directly at the customer s house, at the supplier or through the media (telephone,
fax, email, Internet, etc.) The increasing number of call centres demonstrates the importance that
companies attach to customer service.

The Partition of India by the British Empire
The Pakistan
On August 1947, the British Empire partitioned the British Indian Empire into two autonomous and
sovereign nations, India and Pakistan. Instantly after the autonomy, both countries joined the British
Commonwealth. The autonomy of India and Pakistan made the between religious viciousness of such
greatness that trade of populace along religious lines turned into a need in every nation. More than two
million individuals moved over the new fringes and more than one hundred thousand kicked the
bucket in the spate of mutual brutality, that spread even past these Territories. Significant brutality
emitted succeeding the division of Punjab, Bengal, and Kashmir which raised into prompting the first
war between India and Pakistan. With aid and further United Nations (UN) and Soviet Union s
contribution finished the war however it turned into an until now uncertain Kashmir question.
Taking after the freedom, the Pakistan got included in nonstop regional debate with India (in east)
over Kashmir and Bengal and with the Afghanistan (in west) over the tribal line. Its political history
has been portrayed by tyrant military standard and the short vote based rivalry between conservative
preservationists and left wing gatherings all around its history.

Southern Subculture Of Violence
Subcultures of violence are mostly described by its norms, identifiable values or shared views for their
communication which orders the use of violence in various circumstances. Subcultures are not entirely
different from a larger culture to which they re surrounded. On the other hand, the subcultural
supporters contribute many social beliefs of the dominant culture and observe a separate set of
principles and ideals that are not overlooked by the larger class of society. Observing to the beliefs of
a subculture of violence or the use of violence in a particular situation isn t just to tolerate it, but to
expect it. This expectation promotes an ideal behavior, meaning that opposing agreements can occur if
violence isn t used in a situation for which subcultural rules request it. Generally, the most discussed
subcultures of violence both said to be found in America are the Black subculture of violence and
Southern subculture of violence.

The Black experience has led some to suggest the existence of a unique Black subculture of violence,
in which a small subset of the Black population adheres to normative expectations that are uncannily
similar to those found in the Southern subculture of violence. Although recent empirical research
using individual level survey data finds no support for the notion that Blacks are more tolerant of
violence, at least one recent analyst has intriguingly argued that Black violence is a cultural
phenomenon resulting from 200 years of immersion in the Southern culture of violence, and carried
out of the South with the great migration in the first half of the 20th century. This hypothesis thus
bridges the gap between these two subcultures, which until recently were treated as wholly distinct

We would expect the maximum change to money supply to be higher in c than in a because of a higher

the maximum change to money supply to be the highest.

Silver Nitrate Test Lab Report
This reaction is observed to be an SN1 reaction which was later verified by the silver nitrate test. The
percent yield obtained for mass was 28.9%. The reason the percent yield was low could be due to the
loss of product. This could have happened in several ways including the loss of the organic phase
during extraction where too much of the organic phase could have been extracted resulting in less of
the product being formed. The lower percent yield may also be due to the reaction not going to
completion, resulting in fewer product formed. Additionally, impurities in the product also yield less
of the product. Incorrect measurements of the graduated cylinder may have also led to a decreased
yield. The weight of the graduated cylinder may have no been accurate if excess water was present
leading to added weight. Also, the filter paper used in the gravity filtration may have also not been
able to hold all the crystals and have allowed some to pass through leading to incorrect mass of
product. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When an aqueous solution is added to a salt, NaCl, it causes it to be insoluble in water and therefore
be recovered later on by having it crystalized. This is referred to as salting out, meaning that the polar
organic compounds, which are soluble in water, are extracted into a nonpolar solvent. This is useful
when it comes to drying of the aqueous extraction via the drying agent and in removing excess water
from the organic solvent. Moreover, the drying agent used in this experiment was the Na2SO4. The
drying agent allows for removal of water; however, if too much drying agent is used, it could lead to
lose of the organic solvent by absorption. This may lead to a decreased

Barefoot Research Paper
Remember the carefree days you spent as a kid running barefoot in the grass? Or the feel of sand
between your toes as you built sandcastles on the beach during summer vacation? For many kids, this
carefree time was often interrupted by parental figures proclaiming the need for footwear. Mom and
dad had a point. After all footwear, for the most part, is made to protect the feet from dangerous stuff
like sharp objects and abrasive surfaces. But as it turns out, going barefoot also has a plethora of
health benefits from preventing leg and foot injuries to reducing insomnia and easing stress.

Patriarchy In Sexual Politics, By Kate Millet
In Sexual Politics, Kate Millet states that patriarchal societies do not derive from human nature, but
are socially constructed. Patriarchy is means of the male gender applied to exploit and oppress the
females. The process of patriarchal control develops since childhood. Since and early age, children
perceive notions of what is proper to each gender from their parents, peers, and society. She asserts
that besides the physical distinctions, there are not differences between male and female. It is the
patriarchal social structure that assigns gender roles. Due to cultural expectations, young males are
encouraged to develop their characteristics to meet with the stereotypes: strong, aggressive, violent,
disciplined, and intelligent, while women ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How Clive utilizes gender stereotypes to maintain his power is depicted throughout the first act as he
attempts to keep his wife as well as women in general in a lower status in various ways. For one thing,
Clive assigns a passive and docile role for Betty, which can be seen from the way she has to listen to
everything he says and is not allowed to have opinions. When Betty tells Clive on Joshua that the
servant did not do what she said when she told him to fetch a book, Clive does not even want to listen
to what she has to say. Although he was not there, he interrupts her when she tries to explain the
situation; Betty, please, let me handle this This shows a patriarchal attitude about women s
incompetence in handling things and making decisions. Also in order to keep, his wife in the status
quo, he encourages her to do activities like playing piano and reading poetry which are stereotypically
considered gentle and womanly. The female role assigned by men has become Betty s identity. She
accepts her inferiority to men and behaves what the patriarchal system deems appropriate.

Physical Impact Of Youth Sports
Impact of Youth Sports
Development of children who are in their early stages of life is critical not only for themselves, but the
future roles they play later in their lives. In fact, one of the most crucial parts of a child s growth can
stem from youth sports. Taking a look at youth sports as a whole it has become nearly encoded within
our modern society to have our kids participate in some sort of recreational or club type atmosphere.
Alison Prichard a top physical educator stated that There is little doubt that the world is infatuated by
sports. People watch them, analyze them, argue about them, spend money on them, and encourage
their children to play them. Not surprisingly, youth sport is the most popular structured activity in the
United States, with an estimated 45 million American children enrolled in an organized program or
team in 2005 (Prichard, 2015).
Youth sports has a plethora of positive aspects, and elements that stream from it, the importance and
impact that come along with each of these is where different arguments are made and disagreements
about the role they play occurs. At first glance, most would state the obvious benefit from youth sports
would be the physical aspect of the game which helps children more than anything be able to create an
environment and atmosphere in which they are active. Although, the effect of youth sports has the
ability to be able to make ripples in many more areas than just the physical aspect. The psychological

One of Ours by Willa Cather
Margaret Elliot is beautiful, talented, critical, unsatisfied, tired of the world at twenty four (Great
Short Works, 8). Engaged to a man she has no feelings for, life feels bleak and without purpose. She
feels true love once with Eric, but just for a moment. For her whole life, Margaret had searched the
faces of men for the look that lay in his eyes. She knew that look had never shone before, would never
shine for her on earth again, that such love comes to one only in dreams or in impossible places like
this, unattainable always. This was Love s self, and in a moment it would die (Great Short Works, 29).
For Willa Cather this is how love exists. Happy relationships are plentiful, but the enchanted, all
encapsulating love of dreams only exists in glances. For Eric this glance is enough. He does not regret
his decision or the damnation he is sure it will cause. For him a day shall be as a thousand years, and a
thousand years as a day as his love lives on.
In most cases, however love is not enough. Both Margaret and Claude, the protagonist of Cather s
novel One of Ours feel this shimmer of love, but in the end must search for meaning elsewhere. Set in
a small Nebraska farm town, One of Ours opens several years before the start of the First World War.

that propels him to search for meaning on a much different field in Europe. For Claude, who wants

Las Vegas Housing Market Crash of 2006, who is to blame?
By
Tina Beach
In the United States, the lending industry s lack of aggressive monitoring was a big part of the housing
market crash of 2006. The Las Vegas housing market, once a booming industry in 2003 to 2005, is
now one of the top 3 cities in foreclosure properties. I sat with Suzanne Pashnick to get her take on
what happened, who is to be blamed and what can be done for the city to recover. Suzanne has been in
the real estate field since 1995 and began her career in Michigan. In 2005, she moved to Las Vegas
and continued her career in real estate and is currently an agent for CENTURY 21 MoneyWorld and
remains licensed in Nevada.

The public was uneducated in how the process worked but seemed not to be bothered because it got
them into the house. They don t want a mortgage, they want a home. A home they can raise a family,
build equity, build a life, have a sense of freedom. That boom market gave it to them. The lenders
probably told them to just sign here for now and we ll get your mortgage down to where you really

would crash as it did, are you prepared? No, because who is thinking that your home is losing value,
that people are going to lose their jobs or that the economy would turn into a recession. Not the banks
or the public thought that. The perception was that the market was going to go up or stay steady, so the
homeowners were going to be able to refinance and get rid of their current payment. People were
going to make more money, they were going to get a raise in a couple years at their jobs and
everything would be better. So when the homeowners refinanced their loan they would get a fixed rate
mortgage for 30 years. But that never happened.

motivation because I am my biggest cheerleader. Early on in my life, I knew that my parents would
not be the ones to tell me, if you can dream, you can do it! types of people. They were the sort of
parents that were not emotionally available or caring. For instance, I remember telling my parents that

responses or their faith in my abilities. My parents were busy working and taking care of my older
brother due to his chronic illnesses. They didn t always have the time to talk to me about my dreams
and aspirations, so I talked to myself about them.Additionally, I feel that I good a self motivation
because I never really had anyone to remind me to do something. For example, I never got reminded
to do my homework and I rarely got asked if I completed it. Seeing that I scored a 78 in self awareness
was not very surprising. I feel that I am very aware of my strengths, shortcomings, my tendencies, and
my passions. I credit my awareness to seeing a psychologist. Prior to seeing them, I use to think that I

Analysis Of The Poem Porphyria s Lover
Love can purely take an over a man, and drive him crazy. Robert Browning, demonstrates Porphyria s
Lover as a terrifying love story given from a lunatic s point of view. It is the story of a man who is so
obsessed with Porphyria that he decides to keep her for himself. In this poem however, we find that
this poem is more than just about a lunatic, and his obsession, but rather find ourselves in the midst of
a poem more depth. First, we can see how the role of nature can express the mood of the poem. We
find that Browning uses many poetic devices such as imagery, meter and rhyme to give the poem that
horrifying, spine chilling feeling. Also how Porphyria s Lover is interesting because of the importance
of class and society during the Victorian era. Browning is known for his dramatic monologues, but in
this poem, it s the reader s takes ability to make inferences as well as to analyze the speaker s attitude
towards Porphyria since he does not give any background information of himself or the women she is
obsessed with, Porphyria. The Poem begins with a description of the weather, telling us that it is night,
and the rain has just settled in. We know things are soon to change when the poem tells us that the
sullen wind was soon awake (Browning 2), then tells us it tore the elm tops down for Spite (3). the
storm is being personified with such words as sullen , awake and spite that make it feel that the

The duel between Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton holds a significant relevance in
American history and should be examined within the context of early American culture and politics.
The recent historiography of the incident provides us with a complex, evolving web of conflicting
interpretations. Since the day of this tragic duel, contemporaries and historians have puzzled over why
these two prominent American statesmen confronted each other on the Plains of Weehawken. What
circumstances or events could have motivated two of the most brilliant political minds in America to
endanger their lives and reputations by taking aim at each other on that dismal day? ... Show more

J. Lee and Conalee Levine Schneidman argued it was not Burr who was the instrument, but rather
Hamilton himself or rather Hamilton s distorted perception of Burr as his evil self that promulgated
the duel.3 This article entitled Suicide or Murder? The Burr Hamilton Duel, published in a 1980
edition of the Journal of Psychohistory, represents the first example of
psycho history to be discussed in this paper. The authors presented Aaron Burr as introverted and self
absorbed, a man forever compared to the saintliness of his namesake. His father was a reverend and
President of the College of New Jersey and his mother was the daughter of
Jonathan Edwards. Therefore, the Schneidmans argued, Burr had quite the reputation to uphold,

The s Theory Of Internal Morality
Intro
Wishful blindness is a lot more common than pure dishonesty it is when someone knowingly stays
oblivious to dishonesty occurring
Becker s theory (SMORC) is that decisions about dishonesty are based on a cost benefit analysis
An increase of police and punishments won t necessarily decrease dishonesty
SMORC isn t necessarily true because people have internal morality that also governs their decisions
Taking little by little is much more common than someone taking a huge amount
I know for a fact that I have looked the other way when something dishonest was going on just so that
we could benefit, and at the time my conscience was convincing me that it wasn t cheating. So I can
understand how common wishful blindness really is.
I m certain that I don t weigh the costs and benefits on everything that I do, so I tend to agree with
Ariely s theory of internal morality being more plausible than SMORC
Something that I thought of about the stealing bit by bit part was the whole idea of pyramid schemes,
where you take little by little from certain people and make huge amounts of profit while doing so.
Chapter 1
Does a study on how students cheat using the matrix experiment
Finds that many cheat by a little but few cheat by a lot
When more money got involved the amount of cheating dropped (internal morality)
When people were less likely to be caught the level of cheating remained the same
The thought of getting caught doesn t really affect when someone might cheat

Abigail Fisher s Case Summary
The University of Texas at Austin is a world renown school with an acceptance rate of 40.2% as of
2013. Abigail Fisher, a white woman from Texas, sued the University of Texas for racial
discrimination in the university s admission program. Ms. Fisher lost her district court case and the
Fifth Circuit Case three to zero; but the Supreme Court accepted her appeal for another trial. Due to
Ms. Fisher not being able to attend The University of Texas, she was accepted into Louisiana State
University shortly after. At LSU, she filed the lawsuit against the University of Texas to prohibit the
university to use race as a factor in the future admission process. Ms. Fisher argued that race or
ethnicity should not be a factor in the application process because it is simply unfair. The university
responded that using race as a factor is only part of the admission process and is only used to ensure a
large diverse group of students. The University of Texas automatically admits students in the top ten
percent of high schools in the state. The school also used the affirmative action policy to admit
students of other races, even with less credentials, over white students. While Ms. Fisher was not in
the top ten percent of her high school, she still thought that with her GPA, performing arts, and other
achievements; she would be able to attend the university. The rule of law that is involved in this case
is section one of the fourteenth amendment. Ms. Fisher claims that the ... Show more content on

Target Unncryption Case Study
Several organizations that have faced recent major breaches use encryption strategies. Unfortunately,
encryption is frequently not applied and used properly. A strong security strategy is needed which
keeps entire systems in a comprehensive way in order for encryption to be successful. For instance, an
encryption process and large key may become useless if the encryption key is collected with the data.
The cybercriminals will simply gain access to the system and use the key to unencrypt the data
(Ferguson, Schneieir, Tadayoshi, 2010, p. 12). For encryption to be operative, company must use a
defense in depth strategy in which you also keep the key and protect access to systems where the data
needs to be unencrypted in order to be managed.
Target allegedly paid a great deal of money on security technology (Capacio, 2014). Although systems
used encryption, the encryption was incompetent because the data was retrieved in memory where it
was unencrypted. Though some level of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It shows that there were weaknesses in each layer of defense used by Target that eventually allowed
cybercriminals to gain access to some of their most sensitive data.
Although many security procedures were in place throughout the Target organization, extra layers of
protection would have blocked the attack at many points along the way. Using a stronger Defense in
Depth strategy would have guaranteed that each level was not reachable from the next. Furthermore,
protections on the POS system itself could have added extra security to the data.
Critical Control
In 2008, the federal government arranged a group of public and private organizations to come up with

he remembered the literature he read. While at Dartmouth College, he learned an abundant amount of
history and learned about great Latin authors and strengthened his knowledge of the Latin Language.
During his college days he greater developed his gift of being a great orator. [3] Without his forceful

the resounding symbolism oratory, without his truly great contributions at the bar, the epochal
opinions of the Court might have been very different from what they were (Baxter, 1). He loved to

Billy Pilgrim s So It Goes
So it goes : Three simple words that have a comforting connotation of the reality of death. The phrase
So it goes is used 106 times in Slaughterhouse Five. Every time death is mentioned, the incident is
followed by this phrase. The phrase So it goes is a reminder that death happens to everyone at some
point. The phrase refers to death in an equalizing way. No matter whether it is a massacre of many
people or the death of a single person, the phrase So it goes applies. It could be death by warfare,
accident, or by intention, and the narrator still applies the phrase So it goes.
You could say that it is the motto of the novel. Billy Pilgrim, the main character of the novel, says that
it is a Tralfamadorian saying, which he adopts. At the beginning of the novel, Billy is young, naive,
and clueless, and he gets thrown into battle when he is drafted for World War II. He finds it so hard to

of beads on a string is used on page 27, saying that humans see the illusion of time being
impermanent; once a moment has passed it is gone forever. But the Tralfamadorians see it a different
way: time is everlasting so when a person dies, he is really only dead in that very moment, but he is
perfectly okay in a bunch of other moments. This is why they adopted the fatalistic phrase So it

The Life of Ernest Hemingway
On July 21, 1899 Ernest Miller Hemingway was born in Cicero (Oak Park), Illinois. Clarence and
Grace Hemingway, Ernest s parents, raised him and his five siblings in the suburbs and spent time at
their cottage in northern Michigan. This is where Ernest learned his love of the outdoors. His father
taught him to row a boat, start a fire, clean and cook a fish, make a wild onion sandwich and handle a

Tabula. After graduating he became a journalist for the Kansas City Star. Working as a journalist
helped form his distinctively strip down writing style (biography.com). He wrote in short declarative
sentences and used vigorous english. In 1918, Hemingway went Italy during the first world war and
served the red cross as an ambulance driver for the Italian army. He served in the red cross for thirty
four days until he was wounded on July 8, while delivering cigarettes, chocolate, and postcards to
Italian soldiers (infobase) by a trench mortar shell. He was sent to a hospital in Milan and had 227
shell fragments removed from his leg. In the hospital Hemingway met nurse Agnes von Kurowsky

inspiration for one his most famous works, A Farewell to Arms. After Italy, Hemingway moved to

Prayer beads, according to a study in 1987, are a tool for prayer used by five major religions; Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, Islam and Christianity (Wernik, 361)(Television 430). Not only are prayer beads used in religion but there is also a branch of secular prayer beads, called worry beads; which are used as a stress management tool (Wernik, 362). The book, A Bead and a Prayer, is an excellent resource in learning the basic premise and theories associated with praying with Prayer beads. The book explores four integral questions regarding the use of Prayer Beads; Why use prayer beads? Why prayer beads for Protestants? How to use ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Numerous Protestant assume that prayer beads are a solely Catholic ritual, one that is not for them (40). It is easy to forget that both Catholic and Protestants share a common history, thus the use of beads or tangible elements. In their quest to prayer without ceasing, early desert dwellers commenced praying the entire psalter daily (43). As the monks began to memorize the psalms, they required a system to count; a bowl or pocket with pebbles or stones (43). Since this method is not the most portable, prayer ropes were created around the fourth century. In the middle ages, the daily office, become the new way to pray without ceasing (43). Abstract; This essay will aim to elucidate the use of semiotic analysis using fashion iconography and imagery as its primary medium. We will aim to explore the strengths and limitations of semiotic analysis through a process of dissection; where we will explain how imagery has been layered to give voice to what the artist has chosen to communicate, without the use of syntax. The connotation is how something is photographed, while the denotation is what is photographed. What is important in this scenario is that the essence of the picture is manipulated by one or more of these external factors. It may be argued that the art of photography itself is not organic, but merely the careful manipulation of external elements, constructed by the artist. However, Barthes does not consider photography as an analogue, a puerile denoted message, yet ironically that is how most people instinctively see. Objects photographed (denoted) for non artistic pictures such as documentaries are perceived by the viewer as portraying characteristics of the truth, rather than being used as stylistic mediums. In this poem however, we find that this poem is more than just about a lunatic, and his obsession, but rather find ourselves in the midst of a poem more depth. First, we can see how the role of nature can express the mood of the poem. • 30. Target Unncryption Case Study Several organizations that have faced recent major breaches use encryption strategies. Unfortunately, encryption is frequently not applied and used properly. A strong security strategy is needed which keeps entire systems in a comprehensive way in order for encryption to be successful. For instance, an encryption process and large key may become useless if the encryption key is collected with the data. The cybercriminals will simply gain access to the system and use the key to unencrypt the data (Ferguson, Schneieir, Tadayoshi, 2010, p. 12). For encryption to be operative, company must use a defense in depth strategy in which you also keep the key and protect access to systems where the data needs to be unencrypted in order to be managed. Target allegedly paid a great deal of money on security technology (Capacio, 2014).
