UC Application (350 words)
Describe an example of your leadership experience in which you have positively influenced others,
helped resolve disputes, or contributed to group efforts over time.
Our robot didn't move. I urged it to attempt even a crawl, but, like a rock, it stood. As I ran back
to the pit to attempt a repair, I was bombarded with questions from my teammates. "What
happened?" "Why did it fail?" "Will you be able to fix it?" I had no answers for what had occurred
on the field. Being one of the programming sub–team captains, a large part of the blame lay on me. I
had worked with my team for months in advance in order to ensure that the robot was ready for
competition day. I gathered my programming team and split them up into...show more content...
When it came time to choose classes for my Junior year in high school I was faced with two options.
I could either follow the traditional path and take AP Biology with my peers or I could get a
deeper understanding of the world of physics and take the predominantly senior class, AP Physics
C. I wanted to learn advanced physics before I decided what I would pursue in college. In one lab
we were told to derive the equation of drag force by dropping coffee filters from varying heights.
The thrill of deriving this formula resonated with me as it was a novel discovery that I

2. Introduction to Soccer Essay
Soccer is a popular sport played all over the world. Even though it has only been popular in the
United States for the past 30 years, soccer has been a long time favorite most everywhere else.
The sport dates back to the Egyptians, who played games involving the kicking of a ball. Now, the
sport has grown to a global pastime, including men's and women's teams, and the World Cup (which
is played every four years). Soccer originated with kicking games played by people in ancient
civilizations. The modern version came about in the early nineteenth century, in England. It started
as a game involving kicking and handing, but later this branched off into two separate sports: rugby
and football (which is what the English call soccer). Around...show more content...
In addition to the field itself, all that is needed for a game is two goals (eight feet high and eight
yards apart) and a ball. Each player wears hard plastic or padded shingaurd, covered by long
socks, for protection during play. Cleats are also worn for traction on the field. A goalie may also
wear a special padded shirt, and gloves to protect his or her hands. A standard field, as regulated
by the Federation Internationale de Football Association (or FIFA), has a length between 100 and
130 yards, and a width of between 50 and 100 yards. The rules of play for soccer have deliberately
been kept simple. The referee makes most of the decisions, and attempts to encourage fair play.
The game starts off with a kick off, and the teams are allowed to pass, dribble, juggle, head, kick,
and shoot the ball to place it down the field, and (hopefully, or eventually) into their opponent's
goal. If the ball is kicked off the field over the length of the field, the other team is given a throw–in,
where the ball is thrown over the player's head, and back onto the field. If the ball is kicked over the
goal, or across the width of the field, either a corner kick results (by the offensive team, where the
ball is placed on the corner of the field and kicked into play) or the defensive team is awarded a goal
kick, where the ball is placed on the corner of the goal box, and kicked back into play. If a goal is
scored, the ball is taken back to the center of

3. Uc Application Reflection
When I submitted my UC application, I did not find it necessary to include my personal hardships,
as I did not want those to be the focus of my application. However, I have now realized that omitting
this information prevented me from exhibiting my full academic turnaround.
Last semester, my grandmother had an accident, rendering her unable to walk. As a result, my
mother had to leave immediately for India to care for her. Soon after her return, my father left for
India due to the passing of my grandfather. This was a very emotional period for our family, and
keeping everything together was challenging.
During this time, I was also experiencing a much heavier workload, being enrolled in four AP
courses. Though my familial situation was hectic,

4. Essay about Breakdancing
Breakdancing
The history of choreography is also very important Any choreography that seems new, fresh and
different is usually a variation of something that has been done before. As long as men and women
have lived upon this earth, they have danced. The art of movement is among the oldest of the arts.
So for eight months I've been learning the skills of hip hop and breakdancing by going to at a hip
hop club at every week where I learned the basic skills of breaking like how to top–rock and
six–step. B–boying is a form of hip hop dancing which is popularly known as breaking. It consists
of top or up rock, footwork, spinning moves (power moves), and freeze. B–boying came from
Bronx, NY. The term "B–boy" or "B–boying" was created...show more content...
Because of these reasons, Rock Steady Crew suggests that footworks–emphasiezed style should be

been spreading all over the world while new school dancing such as hip hop and house limited to big
cities in the US and Japan. See examples of freezes history It was late 60s , early 70s when people
started a sort of b–boying. Their dancing was called "Good Foot" from James Brown's record of the
same name. The Good Foot was the first freestyle dance that incorporated moves involving drops
and spins, and resembled the beginning s of breaking. Breakin seems so different from all other
kinds of dancing that the first question people ask when they see it is: "Where did these kids
learn to dance like that?" To many people, this dance seems to have come out of nowhere. But
like everything else, Breakin did come from somewhere, something and someone. In the case of
Breakin, the someone is the great superstar, James Brown, and the something is the dance, the
Good Foot. In 1969, when James Brown came out with the Hustle which was the big dance style
of the day and he performed, he did the kind of dance you'd expect James Brown to do. High
Energy which was almost acrobatic. By the time the Good Foot became the new dance style, the
tradition of dance battle was well established. Dancers would gather at places like Harlem World on
116th Street in Harlem and
