Proposition 2 Argumentative Analysis
Proposition 2 explains that what someone does and how others view the actions one does in
coordination with one another is closely tied to identities (Christiansen, 1999). Furthermore,
Proposition 2 states that language, verbal or nonverbal, is an important influence on identities because
one learns self awareness which then impacts how that person acts around others due to societal cues.
For example, a child learns that a behavior is not acceptable due to language spoken to them through
someone else s facial expressions, like a frown, or direct communication between the child and
someone else. People learn how to act and how to set their goals in life by the experience of doing
things that others will approve or disapprove of. 6. Discuss and provide an example of Proposition 3
and 4 from the Christiansen article. Proposition 3 explains that identities can impact someone s
behavior and view on his or her life depending on how that person views an event that occurred in his
or her life. Events can be looked at by examining if the event held a meaningful, personal experience
to a person. Furthermore, this proposition explains that identities are socially interconnected to one
another because someone s identity can positively or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A Research Study On Business Education
Running head: LEVERAGING RESEARCH TOENHANCE UNDERGRADUATE BUSINESS
EDUCATION 1
Leveraging research to enhance undergraduate business education
Luke Maass
Northwest Missouri State University
Authors note
This paper was prepared for
Student involvement in research activities in U.S. business schools used to be primarily offered to
graduate students. However, many universities are now offering undergraduate research opportunities
that can provide students with a deep understanding of the academic environment. Research allows the
exploration and questioning of significant issues in today s world.
This type of learning can provide students with more understanding than can be taught in a classroom
or read in a textbook. Research challenges students to engage in the process of identifying and
evaluating major issues and trends impacting businesses and society. Students also explore potential
business implications that can drive innovation (The Boyer Commission). One goal of business school
research is to enhance the prestige of the business school where the research is done. There is evidence
that research does achieve that goal, as research has, historically, been regarded as the primary
determinant of a school s prestige (Armstrong, 1995: 103). For example, Business Week magazine has
added a research influence measure in its ratings of business schools. If a school scores highly on that
measure, it enhances the overall prestige ranking.

Summary Of The Circle Maker By Mark Batterson
The spiritual formation book that I chose to read was, The Circle Maker: Praying Circles Around Your
Biggest Dreams and Greatest Fears. Mark Batterson begins his book by telling a story about a guy
named Honi. Honi and his community were in the middle of a long drought. If rain did not come soon
to their land than lives were going to be in jeopardy. Honi began to draw a circle on in the sand. He
gets on his knees and begins to pray to Elijah for a torrential downpour of rain. He makes it clear to
God that he will not move from the circle he drew until he sends rain to his land. Lo and behold God
sends rain to the land
Batterson begins the first chapter talking about how the world needs more circle makers. He has a
quote in his book that has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When I got to Hope, I was excited to meet a lot of new people. I tend to be a person who is fine with
spending time alone with myself. As time went on I noticed myself becoming a little upset because I
was not doing anything except going to work and going home to be by myself. This was not a problem
at the beginning of my time at Hope because I was busy at work with Night to Shine. But once Night
to Shine was over and I was not as busy at work I kind of got upset when I had to go home. There has
been nobody my age who are also single for me to get to know. The more I thought about this truth of
my reality it began to have more of an effect on me.
As I started to begin to think of ways to productively spend my spare time besides doing homework, I
thought of reading my Bible. Up until this point in my life I never felt the need to read my Bible. As I
began reading and reflecting on the reason why this came to mind I came to one conclusion. My
conclusion was that this season of my life was happening in order for me to grow closer in my
relationship with God through the

Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung, And Traditional Psychodynamic...
Psychodynamic Theories
What is traditional psychodynamic theory? Who and where did it come? How did contemporary
psychodynamic theory develop and expand upon those ideas? Who were the key players?
Theories
The traditional psychodynamic theories of personality were introduced to us through Sigmund Freud,
Carl Jung, and Alfred Alder. From there many other great minds were able to build upon the
framework of the ideas of those who had gone before them. Most notably was Melanie Klein, Karen
Horney, Eric Fromm, and Erik Erikson. Traditional psychodynamic theorists focused more on the
unconscious and how it relates to personality, whereas contemporary psychodynamic theorist focused
more on how the individual develops their personality.
Traditional Theories The traditional psychodynamic theories put great emphases on the importance of
the unconscious mind and believed that personality traits were something people are born. The
consensus being that the traits everyone expressed as being inherent and coming from within. There
was not a huge amount of focus on how the outside world may have contributed to an individual s
personality. Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung, and Alfred Alder believed that what occurred in the
unconscious mind had a significant impact on what went on in the conscious mind. The main
propositions and components of Sigmund Freud s psychoanalysis theory are that an adult s personality
is largely determined by their experiences during childhood and that people are

The San Diego Trolley Dances
The San Diego Trolley Dances took place on October 3rd 2015. An assortment of dance pieces all
come together to furnish the city with dance in non traditional and often unexpected settings. A
program that has been established for fourteen years, the annual Trolley Dances traveled from
downtown San Diego to Balboa Park. However modern or classical the pieces may in Trolley Dances
appear to be, the combination of observation and research can provide a different perspective.
Africanist Aesthetics are principles in the qualities of African dance, as well as other African art
forms. The aesthetic of the cool is one of five Africanist Aesthetics. It embraces the principle of a
contrast between bodily movements and facial presentation and expression. This aesthetic also has a
large component of visual values; dancers are confident of their performance and offer themselves as
such. Three moments within the collection of pieces presented in Trolley Dances excellently embody
the Africanist Aesthetic of the aesthetic of the cool, in the penumbras of potential danger, physical
strain, and unexpected collisions.
A black submerged fountain floor was sprinkled with dancers at the Waterfront Park in San Diego.
The dark color scheme was contrasted by the ten dancers wearing black shirts and amethyst colored
galaxy print pants. With the absence of music, Stephan Koplowitz s dancers of the piece Play(as) ,
gradually progressed across the first segment of the reflecting pool. After

Persecuted Church
Horrifying evil shocks us into paralysis. That is the point of terrorism: not just to kill, but to
demoralize any opposition into hopelessness and inaction. As urgent as it is to document Christian
persecution in our time to shine a light on it, it s important too to understand that evil doesn t stand
unopposed. There are signs of hope: the heroic virtue of many Christians in the face of genocidal
attack; the help they have received from noble allies; and some signs that the tide may have turned and
things can get better.
Earlier this spring I heard Steve Wagner, the head of Solidarity with the Persecuted Church, give an

How Do Actions Speak Louder Than Words In King Lear
Shakespeare shows that actions speak louder than words, and that one should not give up their power
to another. Shakespeare does this by showing that even though two of King Lear s daughters said they
loved him they still refused to obey him, and by showing that giving up all of your power is the same
as being a nobody. Through the play King Lear, Shakespeare shows how one should not be judged
based on words, but by their actions. Goneril told King Lear that she loves him more than words can
wield the matter (line 53 54). This quote shows that King Lear s oldest daughter says that she loves
him, and the King believes this and gives half his kingdom to her. Later in the play the King is told by
the fool that he has borest thy ass on thy back o er the dirt which is when the King starts to realize that
his daughters, two of which were given half of the kingdom, lied to him when they told him they
loved him because they only wanted the kingdom (line 157). The two daughters of the King show
their true colors when they show their father they lied to him, showing that just because someone says
one thing they can do another. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the beginning of the play King Lear controls land with shadowy forests and with champains riched,
with plenteous rivers and wide skirted meads (line 63 64). This shows that the King has plenty of land
at his disposal giving him power, but when he splits his land among his eldest daughters he loses his
power. When the King goes to talk to his second oldest daughter she tells him to return and sojourn
with my sister, dismissing half your train (line 201 202). This shows now that the King s daughters
control the land they can tell their father, the King, what to do. To the King, losing his power meant a
restriction in freedom which was devastating to him when he wanted to do

Self-portraits
Each artist is an individual with a unique style, and although these styles can be similar in practice the
individuality of the artist often proves the discriminating factor for a successful artwork. Self portraits
are beneficial when looking at the individuality of the artist as there are two aspects to look at the
artist s style, and the artist s view of him/herself. The latter can provide a brief insight into the mental
situation of the artist as well as any apparent influencing factors of the artwork. This view can often
also include fragmental insights into the society and culture of the time. Rembrandt van Rijn and
Vincent van Gogh are 2 artists of whom are well represented by this statement.
Rembrandt was born into a Dutch ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most common of these portrayed garments were the generic Berets that have now been typically
associated with the common artist as a stereotype. Looking at the untitled self portrait of 1657 (Figure
1) you can see Rembrandt s attention to detail and his persistence to achieve life likeness. He has built
up the wrinkled brow, the puckers of skin, in very detailed and effective passages of reddish colours.
You can see the application of chiaroscuro in this painting which is obviously intentional as even his
clothes, including fashionable beret, are dark to help with the distribution of light and dark with the
focus being on his face. This self portrait is one I consider to be among his best. This work provides an
insight into Rembrandt s indifference to self consciousness as you can see an aged, wrinkled man with
a large broad nose and gray wisps of hair, all of which he has made no attempt to positively alter, he
simply strives for realism in his works and finds no reason to alter the physical reality of his work for
mere aesthetic purposes. It provides an insight into the culture of the time with the fashion state
Rembrandt has depicted himself in as well as the common chiaroscuro methods used in the painting
which were common for the culture or society of the time. The self portrait of 1630 (Figure 2) shows
how even from early in his career Rembrandt strove for realism in his works. You are once again
struck by the honesty

Rhetorical Analysis of Hillary Clinton s Speech, Women’s...
On September 5, 1995, Hillary Clinton delivered an influential speech at The Fourth World
Conference on Women in Beijing. Clinton expresses general concern over escalating violence toward
women, in other word s gendercide. Gendercide refers to the systematic elimination of a specific
gender group, normally female. It s most common in India, China, and other regions in Southeast Asia
(GirlsKind Foundation). Crimes, such as bride trafficking, infanticide, abandonment, and dowry
related murder; often take place within private households, going unnoticed and not even
acknowledged. Tragically, women are most often the ones whose human rights are violated. Even

Hillary relates to them by listing responsibilities that women uphold. I have met women in South
Africa who helped lead the struggle to end apartheid and are now helping to build a new democracy. I
have met women in India and Bangladesh who are taking out small loans to buy milk cows, or
rickshaws, or thread to create a livelihood for them themselves and their families (Clinton 2). Using
repetition, she starts the accounts with I have met women in....... to show credibility, she has met
women in different positions. By doing so Clinton, allows the audience immediately to know what
women are capable of doing, despite unfair treatment.
Pathos is important in this speech when you are trying to change others views on women s rights.
Hillary uses emotional appeals to the audience when she describes them as wives, mothers, sisters,
and daughters; referring them to women in our own lives; evoking the listener to imagine if their loved
one were in the same position. Clinton talks about the appalling desecrations such as gendercide.
Clinton states the demands of women that remain silent. By using repetitive language, she starts all the
statements with It is a violation of human rights when.... .All eight statements are relevant examples of
different scenarios that happen to women around the world. It is a violation of human rights

Gwendolyn Brooks We Real Cool
Gwendolyn Brooks s We Real Cool commonly typifies her work and exists, for many readers, as the
most visible of her poems. High school and college students who have encountered her writing have
likely read little more than this single poem. The reason for both the ubiquitous nature of this work
and the universality of its appeal, especially among younger audiences, is manifest in both the
structure and subject matter of the poem. Richard Flynn writes that Brooks s work has used the image
and voice of the child to negotiate a complex poetic strategy that explores childhood as a position
from which to critique prevailing constructs of class and race (484). This is certainly true of We Real
Cool, which calls attention to the youth of the

The Traditional Versions Of Sherlock Holmes
As a pair of classic companion, Sherlock Holmes and John Watson have gone beyond time and space.
Notably, in the last few adaptations of Conan Doyle, actors and actress establish a new look for the
traditional version in response to the modern society in 21st century. These new versions of Sherlock
Holmes have driven its popularity again, and not only among pre existing fans, but also new audiences
who may not read Doyle s novels or watch its films before. In the film adapted, Guy Ritchie s two

The Use Of Animal Imagery In Fairyland
More generally, animal imagery stresses the dark and frightening elements of Fairyland. When Titania
is about to rest in the woods, her fairies perform a soliloquy or lullaby, to ward off any vile creatures
that would wish to harm Titania, and to make her feel safe.
You spotted snakes with double tongue,
Thorny hedgehogs, be not seen;
Newts and blindworms, do no wrong,
Come not near our Fairy Queen.
(II, ii, 9 12).
Weaving spiders, come not here;
Hence, you long legged spinners, hence!
Beetles black, approach not near;
Worm nor snail, do no offense.
(II, ii, 20 23).
Blindworms, snakes, newts, spiders and beetles are all insects and animals that terrify or disturb the
average human. Some humans keep hedgehogs as pets, thus lowering their scare factor, yet the thorny
description reminds the reader of their potential for harm and danger. Both Fairyland and its creep
creatures have the potential for deception and evil or can be harmless and lighthearted. The key words
of double tongue and be not seen, are especially troublesome as this hints that the terrifying animals of
the human world that are not usually seen are present in this world. The animal imagery in this
passage depicts a creepier Fairyland that is more of a nightmare than a dream. Oberon matches the
harsh and creepy descriptions of the fairies when he wishes that Titania fall in love with an
undesirable creature. He suggests a cat or bear, a boar with bristled hair, or some vile thing (II, ii,

Thank Bob Dylan With The Nobel Prize
December 20, 2016
Dear Nobel Prize committee,
The Nobel Prize for Literature is an outstanding prize that honors extraordinary people for their works
in literature. It honors people that have changed literature. On October 13, 2016 you awarded Bob
Dylan with the Nobel Prize in Literature. This marks him as the first musician ever to win this prize.
Many people agree with your decision, while others are not delighted with this fact. I agree with the
committee to honoring Bob Dylan with the Nobel Prize in literature for having created new poetic
expressions within the great American song tradition.
Bob Dylan was born as Robert Allen Zimmerman on May 24, 1941 in Duluth, Minnesota. While
growing up, Bob was influenced by Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Little Richard. He was also in
a few bands while growing up. While he was in college he began performing folk and country music
at local cafes under the name Bob Dillon. In 1960, he dropped out of college and moved to New York.
In New York, Bob met his idol Woody Guthrie and visited him regularly and became great friends
with him. In 1961, he signed his first recording contract at Columbia Records and became one of the
most original influential voices in the history of American popular music. Throughout his lifetime he s
been awarded with Grammy s, Academy and Golden Globe awards. In 2012, he received the
Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Barack Obama. Bob Dylan wrote music based on

Roe V. Wade 1973
Federal Law:
Roe v. Wade 1973 was a landmark case where the United States ruled it unconstitutional that state law
could ban abortion except to save the life of the mother. The Supreme Court ruling was that states
were forbidden from outlawing or regulating any aspect of abortion performed during the first
trimester of pregnancy and could only regulate abortions regarding maternal health in the second and
third trimesters. States were only allowed to enact abortion laws to protect the fetus in the third
trimester, but even in the third trimester an exception had to be made to protect the life of the mother
(McBride).

The act also said that minors who wanted an abortion must get informed consent from their parents
unless there was a case of hardship where a court could waive this requirement. The act also imposed

Mississippi banned the use of government money to pay for abortion except in special circumstances
like rape, incest, or risk of death. Data presented during class discussion suggested that abortions in
the case of rape or incest were only accounted for 1% of abortions. Also, medical facilities that receive
state money are prohibited from spending money on abortion. According to the PBS video, 33 other
states have passed similar legislation to that of Mississippi.
In Indiana, the waiting period is in effect as well as requiring an ultrasound and requiring the woman
to hear the fetus s heartbeat. During class, a graphic was shown that exhibited which states have
waiting periods and some states like Utah, for example, have a waiting period of up to seventy two
hours.

Analysis Of Mary Shelly s Frankenstein

Good or Evil?
Frankenstein is a nonfiction novel written by Mary Shelly in 1818. The story starts when a student is
studying in college and he creates a creature that is overtaking everything. Victor, Creature s creator,
thinks he is beautiful then realizes the horrible looks of him so he runs away from him. This creature
just wants the love of a human because he does not feel human without that, just like every other
human being in the world. The monster has traveled all through the town and come across something
that he was not happy with so he made some not so good decisions through his journey. Throughout
this novel the creature has tried to get humans to realize that he is a genuinely good person, but every
time, they seem him as a creature that was made of spare animal and human parts. Victor does not
even realize that he is treating him this way but as they continue there are even more people that just
look on the outside of him instead of the actions or words he was doing or saying. Thematically, many
people see the evil in a person before they are able to realize that before the good they are trying to do
for them. When the creature was first created by Victor was very pleased by his creation. He was
proud of what he had produced from the numerous hours of dedication to create the prefect being.

Disasters Caused By Natural Disasters
Disasters are a series of disruptions involving widespread human, material, economic or
environmental losses and effects, which exceeds the capability of that affected community to cope up
with its already present resources. Disasters have been happening ever since the beginning of time.
Every disaster can be classified as either a human caused disaster which basically involves the
negligence or irresponsibility of one single person or a group of people, or natural caused disasters.
Natural disasters may happen due to volcanic eruption, earthquakes, tsunamis, etc. and many other
causes. Sometimes disaster can also be intertwined between both human caused and natural disasters.
In this essay we are going to talk about some of the most famous engineering disaster which has an
intertwined fate with natural and human caused effects. The disasters also range from ground, to air, to
sea and also space disasters. On May 6, 1937, the Hindenburg arriving from Frankfurt was one of the
biggest airship disasters took place in Lakehurst, New Jersey. This disaster was a mixture of both
human caused and natural cause. The actual cause of the disaster was never found although many
hypotheses had been proposed, but it is said that the ignition of fire was caused by some form of
electricity. However, there has been a lot of controversy about the fire s fuel. The fabric skin of the
airship, or the hydrogen that was used as buoyancy was suggested as the initial fuel for the fire.

Problems Associated with Celiac Disease and Lactose...
Introduction: Enzymes are essential to the proper functioning of the human body. Enzymes are
catalysts, which cause reactions to occur. The two primary classes of enzymes for maintaining life
functions are digestive and metabolic enzymes. The primary digestive enzymes are classified as
proteases, amylases and lipases. These enzymes can help breakdown food molecules. Metabolic
enzymes are responsible for the repairing and structuring of every cell. Inadequate production of
digestive enzymes can have a negative impact on the breakdown of food into the various nutrients our
bodies require.

Lactose intolerance occurs when the body has a hard time digesting dairy products. Lactose is a milk

intestine does not contain lactase (Jackson). Low lactose activity in the small intestine, allows
undigested lactose to pass into the colon, where the bacteria are able to convert the sugar into
hydrogen gas and organic acids. This causes symptoms such as bloating and cramping ( Lactose
Intolerance ). The two causes of lactose intolerance are primary lactase deficiency and secondary
lactase deficiency. In primary lactase deficiency the level of lactase enzyme falls as a person gets
older. This does not allow the person to tolerate the amount of lactose that they were used to. This
affects around 70 percent of the population. Secondary lactase deficiency is a temporary condition in
which the level of lactase drops due to a problem in a person s digestive

Astronomy a Science, Astrology a Pseudo-Science
The word science probably brings many different pictures into your mind, some being: a fat textbook,
white lab coats, microscopes, an astronomer looking through a telescope, a naturalist in the rainforest,
Einstein s equations scribbled on a board, the launch of the space shuttle, bubbling beakers.... All of
those images reflect some aspect of science, but none of them provides a full picture of what science
completely is. Science is defined to be the knowledge attained through study or practice, or knowledge
covering general truths of the operation of general laws, especially as obtained and tested through
scientific method and concerned with the physical world.
According to the TOK book, astronomy is considered a science and astrology a pseudo science. Do
you agree? Before I start discussing this statement, we should know what science, pseudo science and
astronomy, astrology really is. Science is the pursuit and application of knowledge and understanding
of the natural and social world following a systematic methodology based on evidence. pseudo science
is a concept that is considered to be science but it does not have enough evidence to go along side with
it and prove the concept to be right. Astronomy is a science that studies everything outside of the earth
s atmosphere, such as planets, stars, asteroids, galaxies; and the properties and relationships of those
celestial bodies. Astronomers base their studies on research and observation. Astrology on the other

Running two miles after finishing basketball practice or staying a hour after to work on my shot. I
work so hard I forget I play so have fun.I have come to the conclusion that some things are better done

Senior night for volleyball is around the corner. It is not the day and already my mind is thinking about
the million things that can go wrong and right. With every competitive thought I try squeezing a
positive thought about the fun of my very last home volleyball game. Being competitive makes me
stumble and being competitive made me, me. Five years old, short, and uncoordinated I used every
moment to be better. I tried my hardest to be the best and do the best. I would race my six year old
brother, Rigo, running as fast as my little legs could move. Breathing heavily and legs feeling like
jello I would race him over and over again. I was a determined little girl that was going to beat him in
that twenty five yard grass in the front lawn. Being competitive made me fast and a hard worker.
When math minutes came to Grand View Elementary I was eight to ten years old. I was excited for
this new challenge. Waiting anxiously and sweaty hands. Ready, set go! the teacher announces as she

answering questions one by one. A minute later there I sat in my brown wooden desk, hands shaking,
can we correct them right now? I asked. I was anxious to hear if I

Benefits Of Being A Mere Child
When we were but a mere child, the elders amongst our environment would often ask what we wanted
to be in the future. Many options come to mind, and most being the cliché answers that any child were
exposed to, such as a firefighter, or a police man. However, at that age, our knowledge of those fields
hardly encompassed precisely what those occupations routines were. Answering with these
occupations at that age wasn t true to exactly what would interest them in the future. For most
children, these answers would then change over time, while others continuously struggle to figure out
what it is they want to do. Fast forward a handful of years and you are now faced with the same
questions, except staring at an application you are to submit to potential colleges you want to attend.
Are we just as quick to answer these questions as we were when we were children? Or do we now
know less about what we want to be, since the options of occupation are much more vast and grand
than what we thought it to be in the past? It wasn t just between being a policeman, or a teacher, but
what kind of police force they wanted to be in, what kind of level of teaching they wanted to choose,
and so on and so forth. College is usually a critical time for students to learn the different aspects of
professional and personal self perceptions, competencies, attitudes, interests, and values of future
careers. In fact, most college students list well after college career opportunities as one of the

State Building
Sovereign State Formation and Stimulation of Increased Ethnic Conflict
This paper looks to examine parallels in the rise of ethnic tensions that have followed state building
efforts of multiple forms in regions that had legacies of colonial rule, traditionally independent states,
and newly independent states. In considering the potential for ethnic conflicts to become violent we
must consider the fact that the ethnic divisions have evolved in a longer running historical context that
includes the colonial and post colonial periods. As modern states have become institutionalized across
the Third World, the politicization and conflicting nature of ethnic divisions have taken on new
dimensions as the newly created states have taken up the mantles of aspiring to represent the entire
nation. (Wimmer, 1997) The role of ethnicity has played varying degrees of importance in either
solidifying or fragmenting the creation of national identities. Ethnic wars became increasingly
common in numbers in the years from 1950 1999, comprising 55 percent to 72 percent of all civil
wars during the period. Additionally, in the 1990s alone, more than 200 ethnic minorities and
subordinate majorities throughout the world were contesting their political status. (Johnson, 2008). As
new nations develop, ethnic conflict is often a key source of division within states for a variety of
causes.

World War One Horror At Home Analysis
World War One: Horror at Home and On the Front Line World War One, to this day, holds some of the
most horrific events in all of world history. Susan R. Grayzel s nonfiction work, The First World War
A Brief History with Documents, gives first hand accounts of the terrifying events that took place
between 1914 and 1919 that drastically changed the lives of all who were living during the time. The
documents created during this time effectively reveal the fear that radiated on the home front and
frontline as a result of newfound warfare and the first occurrence of total war. In the beginning of
World War One, there was widespread support for the war. At first war was seen as cultural hygiene
and a form of carrying out Social Darwinism. Social Darwinism applied Charles Darwin s late 1800 s
theory of natural selection to present day society. People believed only the most capable of adapting
and changing should survive. Despite widespread support from most counterparts, there were still
those who obviously opposed. Russian poet, Anna Akhmatova, warned and also accurately described
the terrors of the war to come. Her poem stated, Horrible times are near. Soon / we ll be crowded with

Honeybees Disappearance
According to The Silence of the Bees, almost everything humans consume can be traced back to bees
the amazing little creatures pollinate about one third of all the United States crops. Everything we eat
comes from plants in some way or another, and plants cannot be pollinated without the help of bees.
What would happen if all the bees just vanished? Since Honeybee Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD),
an epidemic in which worker bees disappear from their hives for seemingly no reason (Stankus, 2014)
has come into existence, the bee s disappearance seems to be becoming a dangerous reality.
Honeybees have a few natural predators. According to Daniel Lee Kleinman and Sainaththey

The Dutch have figured out how to use bumblebee as pollinators because they share so many
similarities with honeybees; both honeybees and bumblebees are social nesters, their colonies are
headed by a single queen, who is the main egg layer (The Silence of the Bees, 2009). The daughters of
the queen, also known as the worker bees do almost all the work and the drones ( which are the males)
are only produced during the mating season. Perhaps the biggest consideration is an economic one.
Considering the fact that bumblebees only last about two months and cost two hundred dollars to rent
per colony, whereas honeybees can last up to several months with colony rentals running only one
hundred to one hundred and forty dollars. As a depressing result, the use of bumblebee pollination is
usually confined to high value crops like tomatoes. Clearly, the use of bumblebees is a step in the right
direction, but not a final

Walt Disney Is Not A Utopia
If you are reading this, you know who Walt Disney is. You can name at least five Disney movies off
the top of your head and recall your emotions when watching all of them. Since the 1920 s,America s
society has been morphed by Disney and his animated productions. People have grown up watching
his movies and singing his songs. A single Disney song can provide unity within a room of strangers,
for they instantly have the schema to sing every word and feel nostalgic.Throughout history, Disney s
films have brought light to the darkest of times, transformed the film and marketing industry, and

inspiration. He changed the way people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1923 he traveled to Hollywood to officially start his company, which later granted him 22 Academy
Awards. Although, his childhood was not exactly the American Dream, he used his experiences to
make an impact. He was a self made man. ( Walt Disney )
Disney s focus on his dream of becoming a professional artist, desire to spark others imagination, and
marketing skills commenced his journey of reshaping society. His strict responsibilities as a child
sculpted his hardworking persona and inclination to influence children to derive from regulation and
feed their imagination. He always worked with his older siblings, plowing the fields of the farm,
providing the family food by growing all kinds of vegetables. His father expected perfection, and
when he didn t acquire it, the children received beatings. This would emotionally scar most
children;however, Walt was resilient. As a teenager, he got up at 3 in the morning to deliver
newspapers for his father s company in the cold. He constantly did for his father, but never received
compensation. His father insisted that being an artist was not a radical goal and prohibited Walt from
creating art, but he continued to sneak out of the house to do so. His dream of a having a cartoon
company never vanished. This determination, along with his innate artistic qualities, helped build his
company. Walt began drawing

Imperialism Question
Week 5 Imperialism Questions 1. Even though most of Latin America became independent of
European colonial rule in the 19c, what were some of the cultural influences and other ties that still
existed between the two continents? Between 1810 and 1825, all the Spanish territories on the
American mainland gain their sovereignty from Spain. Simultaneously, the power of the Catholic
Church diminishes, including its patronage of the visual arts. During these war torn years, cultural
production declines. These years witness political reform and the beginnings of self fashioned
societies. Caudillos or military dictators initially fill the vacuum left by the break up of colonial rule,
including Juan Manuel de Rosas (1793 1877) in Argentina, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

7. What was the late 19c definition of the word imperialism? How has that definition changed in the
post World War II era? It meant complete domination, and it changed again as Germany took over
everything in WWII and than it meant to make a sort of treaty with another country. 8. Identify some
of the early 20c opponents of European imperialism. What were their explanations for the imperial
fever that dominated most European countries [and the United States] at that time [see docs. on pp.
910 912]? Ghandi was one of the opponents, and they did a silent protest and nonviolent protest in
order to rebel these forms of imperialism. 9. Why do modern historians feel uncomfortable with these
early 20c explanations for imperialism? Because it was a time of devastation, many deaths, lots of
tragedy and really abuse and exploitation at that point in time. 10. What were some of the political,
economic, social, intellectual, and military factors that explained the sudden increase in the pace and
importance of European imperialism in the late 19c? The essential impetus was the Industrial
Revolution which led to a search for (and control of) sources of raw materials and captive markets to
sell manufactured goods, and become a world power with the most colonies and most money. 11. How
did their colonial experiences help make them good civil servants back home and vice versa?

New World Narrative
A Completely New World Sometimes the most impactful events can emerge from the most common
occasions. For instance, on another insignificant summer day, in the Southwest corner of Minnesota, I
was passing my free time playing videogames, hanging out with friends, and working at HyVee. In
other words, I was going through my regular routine. My family and I had been planning a trip to San
Diego, California. Soon, I would leave my summer for the big city. Here there would be beaches,
palm trees, and numerous people. This event would make my summer more memorable, I thought to
myself. In the fall of 2015, my parents had bid on a package deal at the SMSU Gala and won.
Included in the deal were tickets and a tour of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Every single beach that we went to had endless miles of shoreline. The beaches were almost like
Minnesota lakes on steroids. Actually, they were not comparable because of the pure size of the beach
and body of water. In addition, we learned that swimming in the ocean was more fun than swimming
in a Minnesota lake. The waves were fun to dodge or body surf on, because of their enormous size.
Also, there were tons of people at every beach we visited. It was a good thing that there was so much
shoreline because even with the huge amount of shoreline, it was still crowded. Another thing I got to
see firsthand was the surfers. One side of the beach was marked off for swimming and the other for
surfers. Before this trip, I had never seen anyone surf and it was entertaining to watch them take a
wave from so far away from shore and ride it all the way back into

  • 2. Proposition 2 Argumentative Analysis Proposition 2 explains that what someone does and how others view the actions one does in coordination with one another is closely tied to identities (Christiansen, 1999). Furthermore, Proposition 2 states that language, verbal or nonverbal, is an important influence on identities because one learns self awareness which then impacts how that person acts around others due to societal cues. For example, a child learns that a behavior is not acceptable due to language spoken to them through someone else s facial expressions, like a frown, or direct communication between the child and someone else. People learn how to act and how to set their goals in life by the experience of doing things that others will approve or disapprove of. 6. Discuss and provide an example of Proposition 3 and 4 from the Christiansen article. Proposition 3 explains that identities can impact someone s behavior and view on his or her life depending on how that person views an event that occurred in his or her life. Events can be looked at by examining if the event held a meaningful, personal experience to a person. Furthermore, this proposition explains that identities are socially interconnected to one another because someone s identity can positively or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 3. A Research Study On Business Education Running head: LEVERAGING RESEARCH TOENHANCE UNDERGRADUATE BUSINESS EDUCATION 1 Leveraging research to enhance undergraduate business education Luke Maass Northwest Missouri State University Authors note This paper was prepared for Student involvement in research activities in U.S. business schools used to be primarily offered to graduate students. However, many universities are now offering undergraduate research opportunities that can provide students with a deep understanding of the academic environment. Research allows the exploration and questioning of significant issues in today s world. This type of learning can provide students with more understanding than can be taught in a classroom or read in a textbook. Research challenges students to engage in the process of identifying and evaluating major issues and trends impacting businesses and society. Students also explore potential business implications that can drive innovation (The Boyer Commission). One goal of business school research is to enhance the prestige of the business school where the research is done. There is evidence that research does achieve that goal, as research has, historically, been regarded as the primary determinant of a school s prestige (Armstrong, 1995: 103). For example, Business Week magazine has added a research influence measure in its ratings of business schools. If a school scores highly on that measure, it enhances the overall prestige ranking. ... • 4. Summary Of The Circle Maker By Mark Batterson The spiritual formation book that I chose to read was, The Circle Maker: Praying Circles Around Your Biggest Dreams and Greatest Fears. Mark Batterson begins his book by telling a story about a guy named Honi. Honi and his community were in the middle of a long drought. If rain did not come soon to their land than lives were going to be in jeopardy. Honi began to draw a circle on in the sand. He gets on his knees and begins to pray to Elijah for a torrential downpour of rain. He makes it clear to God that he will not move from the circle he drew until he sends rain to his land. Lo and behold God sends rain to the land Batterson begins the first chapter talking about how the world needs more circle makers. He has a quote in his book that has ... This was not a problem at the beginning of my time at Hope because I was busy at work with Night to Shine. But once Night to Shine was over and I was not as busy at work I kind of got upset when I had to go home. There has been nobody my age who are also single for me to get to know. The more I thought about this truth of my reality it began to have more of an effect on me. As I started to begin to think of ways to productively spend my spare time besides doing homework, I thought of reading my Bible. Up until this point in my life I never felt the need to read my Bible. As I began reading and reflecting on the reason why this came to mind I came to one conclusion. • 5. Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung, And Traditional Psychodynamic... Psychodynamic Theories What is traditional psychodynamic theory? Who and where did it come? How did contemporary psychodynamic theory develop and expand upon those ideas? Who were the key players? Theories The traditional psychodynamic theories of personality were introduced to us through Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung, and Alfred Alder. From there many other great minds were able to build upon the framework of the ideas of those who had gone before them. Most notably was Melanie Klein, Karen Horney, Eric Fromm, and Erik Erikson. Traditional psychodynamic theorists focused more on the unconscious and how it relates to personality, whereas contemporary psychodynamic theorist focused more on how the individual develops their personality. Traditional Theories The traditional psychodynamic theories put great emphases on the importance of the unconscious mind and believed that personality traits were something people are born. The consensus being that the traits everyone expressed as being inherent and coming from within. There was not a huge amount of focus on how the outside world may have contributed to an individual s personality. Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung, and Alfred Alder believed that what occurred in the unconscious mind had a significant impact on what went on in the conscious mind. The main propositions and components of Sigmund Freud s psychoanalysis theory are that an adult s personality is largely determined by their experiences during childhood and that people are ... • 6. The San Diego Trolley Dances The San Diego Trolley Dances took place on October 3rd 2015. An assortment of dance pieces all come together to furnish the city with dance in non traditional and often unexpected settings. A program that has been established for fourteen years, the annual Trolley Dances traveled from downtown San Diego to Balboa Park. However modern or classical the pieces may in Trolley Dances appear to be, the combination of observation and research can provide a different perspective. Africanist Aesthetics are principles in the qualities of African dance, as well as other African art forms. The aesthetic of the cool is one of five Africanist Aesthetics. It embraces the principle of a contrast between bodily movements and facial presentation and expression. This aesthetic also has a large component of visual values; dancers are confident of their performance and offer themselves as such. Three moments within the collection of pieces presented in Trolley Dances excellently embody the Africanist Aesthetic of the aesthetic of the cool, in the penumbras of potential danger, physical strain, and unexpected collisions. A black submerged fountain floor was sprinkled with dancers at the Waterfront Park in San Diego. The dark color scheme was contrasted by the ten dancers wearing black shirts and amethyst colored galaxy print pants. With the absence of music, Stephan Koplowitz s dancers of the piece Play(as) , gradually progressed across the first segment of the reflecting pool. After ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Persecuted Church Horrifying evil shocks us into paralysis. That is the point of terrorism: not just to kill, but to demoralize any opposition into hopelessness and inaction. As urgent as it is to document Christian persecution in our time to shine a light on it, it s important too to understand that evil doesn t stand unopposed. There are signs of hope: the heroic virtue of many Christians in the face of genocidal attack; the help they have received from noble allies; and some signs that the tide may have turned and things can get better. • 8. How Do Actions Speak Louder Than Words In King Lear Shakespeare shows that actions speak louder than words, and that one should not give up their power to another. Shakespeare does this by showing that even though two of King Lear s daughters said they loved him they still refused to obey him, and by showing that giving up all of your power is the same as being a nobody. Through the play King Lear, Shakespeare shows how one should not be judged based on words, but by their actions. Goneril told King Lear that she loves him more than words can wield the matter (line 53 54). This quote shows that King Lear s oldest daughter says that she loves him, and the King believes this and gives half his kingdom to her. Later in the play the King is told by the fool that he has borest thy ass on thy back o er the dirt which is when the King starts to realize that his daughters, two of which were given half of the kingdom, lied to him when they told him they loved him because they only wanted the kingdom (line 157). When the King goes to talk to his second oldest daughter she tells him to return and sojourn with my sister, dismissing half your train (line 201 202). • 9. Self-portraits Each artist is an individual with a unique style, and although these styles can be similar in practice the individuality of the artist often proves the discriminating factor for a successful artwork. Self portraits are beneficial when looking at the individuality of the artist as there are two aspects to look at the artist s style, and the artist s view of him/herself. The latter can provide a brief insight into the mental situation of the artist as well as any apparent influencing factors of the artwork. This view can often also include fragmental insights into the society and culture of the time. Rembrandt van Rijn and Vincent van Gogh are 2 artists of whom are well represented by this statement. Rembrandt was born into a Dutch ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most common of these portrayed garments were the generic Berets that have now been typically associated with the common artist as a stereotype. Looking at the untitled self portrait of 1657 (Figure 1) you can see Rembrandt s attention to detail and his persistence to achieve life likeness. He has built up the wrinkled brow, the puckers of skin, in very detailed and effective passages of reddish colours. You can see the application of chiaroscuro in this painting which is obviously intentional as even his clothes, including fashionable beret, are dark to help with the distribution of light and dark with the focus being on his face. This self portrait is one I consider to be among his best. This work provides an insight into Rembrandt s indifference to self consciousness as you can see an aged, wrinkled man with a large broad nose and gray wisps of hair, all of which he has made no attempt to positively alter, he simply strives for realism in his works and finds no reason to alter the physical reality of his work for mere aesthetic purposes. It provides an insight into the culture of the time with the fashion state Rembrandt has depicted himself in as well as the common chiaroscuro methods used in the painting which were common for the culture or society of the time. The self portrait of 1630 (Figure 2) shows how even from early in his career Rembrandt strove for realism in his works. You are once again struck by the honesty ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Clinton expresses general concern over escalating violence toward women, in other word s gendercide. Gendercide refers to the systematic elimination of a specific gender group, normally female. It s most common in India, China, and other regions in Southeast Asia (GirlsKind Foundation). Crimes, such as bride trafficking, infanticide, abandonment, and dowry related murder; often take place within private households, going unnoticed and not even acknowledged. Using repetition, she starts the accounts with I have met women in....... to show credibility, she has met women in different positions. By doing so Clinton, allows the audience immediately to know what women are capable of doing, despite unfair treatment. Pathos is important in this speech when you are trying to change others views on women s rights. Hillary uses emotional appeals to the audience when she describes them as wives, mothers, sisters, and daughters; referring them to women in our own lives; evoking the listener to imagine if their loved one were in the same position. Clinton talks about the appalling desecrations such as gendercide. Clinton states the demands of women that remain silent. High school and college students who have encountered her writing have likely read little more than this single poem. The reason for both the ubiquitous nature of this work and the universality of its appeal, especially among younger audiences, is manifest in both the structure and subject matter of the poem. Richard Flynn writes that Brooks s work has used the image and voice of the child to negotiate a complex poetic strategy that explores childhood as a position from which to critique prevailing constructs of class and race (484). Notably, in the last few adaptations of Conan Doyle, actors and actress establish a new look for the traditional version in response to the modern society in 21st century. These new versions of Sherlock Holmes have driven its popularity again, and not only among pre existing fans, but also new audiences who may not read Doyle s novels or watch its films before. In the film adapted, Guy Ritchie s two directed works of Sherlock Holmes are noticeable for changing the image of Holmes and Watson into a bohemian, reckless and action style. • 13. The Use Of Animal Imagery In Fairyland More generally, animal imagery stresses the dark and frightening elements of Fairyland. When Titania is about to rest in the woods, her fairies perform a soliloquy or lullaby, to ward off any vile creatures that would wish to harm Titania, and to make her feel safe. You spotted snakes with double tongue, Thorny hedgehogs, be not seen; Newts and blindworms, do no wrong, Come not near our Fairy Queen. (II, ii, 9 12). Weaving spiders, come not here; Hence, you long legged spinners, hence! Beetles black, approach not near; Worm nor snail, do no offense. (II, ii, 20 23). Blindworms, snakes, newts, spiders and beetles are all insects and animals that terrify or disturb the average human. Some humans keep hedgehogs as pets, thus lowering their scare factor, yet the thorny description reminds the reader of their potential for harm and danger. Both Fairyland and its creep creatures have the potential for deception and evil or can be harmless and lighthearted. The key words of double tongue and be not seen, are especially troublesome as this hints that the terrifying animals of the human world that are not usually seen are present in this world. The animal imagery in this passage depicts a creepier Fairyland that is more of a nightmare than a dream. Oberon matches the harsh and creepy descriptions of the fairies when he wishes that Titania fall in love with an undesirable creature. • 14. Thank Bob Dylan With The Nobel Prize December 20, 2016 Dear Nobel Prize committee, The Nobel Prize for Literature is an outstanding prize that honors extraordinary people for their works in literature. It honors people that have changed literature. On October 13, 2016 you awarded Bob Dylan with the Nobel Prize in Literature. This marks him as the first musician ever to win this prize. Many people agree with your decision, while others are not delighted with this fact. I agree with the committee to honoring Bob Dylan with the Nobel Prize in literature for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition. Bob Dylan was born as Robert Allen Zimmerman on May 24, 1941 in Duluth, Minnesota. While growing up, Bob was influenced by Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Little Richard. He was also in a few bands while growing up. While he was in college he began performing folk and country music at local cafes under the name Bob Dillon. In 1960, he dropped out of college and moved to New York. In New York, Bob met his idol Woody Guthrie and visited him regularly and became great friends with him. In 1961, he signed his first recording contract at Columbia Records and became one of the most original influential voices in the history of American popular music. The story starts when a student is studying in college and he creates a creature that is overtaking everything. Victor, Creature s creator, thinks he is beautiful then realizes the horrible looks of him so he runs away from him. This creature just wants the love of a human because he does not feel human without that, just like every other human being in the world. Thematically, many people see the evil in a person before they are able to realize that before the good they are trying to do for them. These enzymes can help breakdown food molecules. Metabolic enzymes are responsible for the repairing and structuring of every cell. The amount of small intestine damaged due to a loss of villi determines the severity of symptoms due to the diseases. Severe signs and symptoms of malabsorption are evident in people whose small intestine is affected by a loss of villi (Marks). Therefore this explains the various problems a person with celiac disease encounters. 1 Lactose intolerance occurs when the body has a hard time digesting dairy products. Lactose is a milk sugar and is broken down by enzymes in the intestinal track, allowing the enzymes to be used as an energy source. Lactase is an enzyme which breaks down lactose. Lactose intolerance occurs when the intestine does not contain lactase (Jackson). Low lactose activity in the small intestine, allows undigested lactose to pass into the colon, where the bacteria are able to convert the sugar into hydrogen gas and organic acids. This causes symptoms such as bloating and cramping ( Lactose Intolerance ). The two causes of lactose intolerance are primary lactase deficiency and secondary lactase deficiency. In primary lactase deficiency the level of lactase enzyme falls as a person gets older. This does not allow the person to tolerate the amount of lactose that they were used to. This affects around 70 percent of the population. Secondary lactase deficiency is a temporary condition in which the level of lactase drops due to a problem in a person s digestive ... Michael Snyder State Building Sovereign State Formation and Stimulation of Increased Ethnic Conflict This paper looks to examine parallels in the rise of ethnic tensions that have followed state building efforts of multiple forms in regions that had legacies of colonial rule, traditionally independent states, and newly independent states. In considering the potential for ethnic conflicts to become violent we must consider the fact that the ethnic divisions have evolved in a longer running historical context that includes the colonial and post colonial periods. As modern states have become institutionalized across the Third World, the politicization and conflicting nature of ethnic divisions have taken on new dimensions as the newly created states have taken up the mantles of aspiring to represent the entire nation. (Wimmer, 1997) The role of ethnicity has played varying degrees of importance in either solidifying or fragmenting the creation of national identities. Ethnic wars became increasingly common in numbers in the years from 1950 1999, comprising 55 percent to 72 percent of all civil wars during the period. Additionally, in the 1990s alone, more than 200 ethnic minorities and subordinate majorities throughout the world were contesting their political status. (Johnson, 2008).
