Sigmund Freud s and Carl Rogers Differing Concepts of...
This essay is to describe Sigmund Freud s and Carl Rogers differing concepts of human psychology
concerning determinism. Freud is known to be a determinist. This means that he believes that humans
don t have free will, that there are forces beyond the individuals control which control their actions
and underlying reasons behind behaviours. (http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/determinism causal/).
Rogers is known as a non determinist. This is the belief that humans have free will, that they control
their own behaviours, desires and are not bound by laws
(http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/free will?q=free+will). However a new idea
which mostly stems from the cognitive approach has been created called Soft Determinism. This is the
idea that people have a degree of free will. That our behaviours and desires are mostly determined
however we can choose specific ways to act in particular situations.
Freud created the Psychodynamic Approach to explain behaviour. Within it, he describes that there are
3 components of the human mind: The conscious, Pre conscious and Unconscious. The conscious is
the part of the mind which is in our awareness; it contains behaviours and desires which we are aware
of. The pre conscious is the part of the mind between the conscious and unconscious, it contains items
such as memories and desires which we are not currently thinking about but can easily bring to
conscious awareness. Lastly is the unconscious. This part of the mind is

Global Warming Is Caused By Emission Of Greenhouse Gases...
Global warming is caused by emission of greenhouse gases. 72% of the totally emitted greenhouse
gases Is carbon dioxide. CO2 is inevitably created by burning of fuels like e.g. Oil, diesel, petrol etc.
The use of such fuels can be minimized by using alternative fuels which do not contain carbon or
contain less carbon. The alternative fuels such as ethanol produced from renewable lignocellulosic
resources or fuels produced from seawater. Research on improving ethanol production is accelerating
for both economical and ecological reasons, primarily for its use as a alternative to Petroleum based
fuels. Lignocellulosic biomass is the most abundant raw material in the world. Production of ethanol
from renewable lignocellulosic Resources may improve energy availability, decrease air pollution,
diminish atmospheric CO2 accumulation. The production of fuel from seawater takes 23,000 gallon of
seawater to produce to produe one gallon of liquid hydrocarbon fuel. This process solves two
problems; dependence on fossil fuels and rising of sea level. The ultraviolet rays coming from sun also
contribute to global warming by destroying the protective ozone layer. Sunshade Geoengineering the
installation of a Reflective Mirrors between earth and sun to reduce the incoming solar radiation, has
been proposed as a Mitigative measures to counteract anthropogenic global warming.

Polycystic Kidney Disorder Research Paper
Polycystic kidney disorder is a genetic disorder. If one parent has the gene and passes it on to their
child, this is called Dominant inheritance and the child has 50% chance of getting the disease. If both
parents have the gene and pass it on to their child, this is called Recessive inheritance and the child
has 25% chance of getting the disease. There are three types of PKD. Autosomal Dominant PKD is the
first form. This form is passed from parent to child by dominant inheritance. Symptoms usually begin
between the ages of 30 or 40 and can be earlier than that. Autosomal Dominant PKD is the most
common form of PKD, 90% of PKD are this form. Infantile or Autosomal Recessive PKD is another
form. This is passed from parent to child by recessive inheritance. ... Show more content on

This is a very serious form of PKD. It progresses rapidly and is often fatal in the first few months of
life. This form is extremely rare. It occurs 1 in 25,000 people. The third form of PKD is called
Acquired Cystic Kidney disease. This can happen in kidneys with long term damage and severe
scarring, it often associated with kidney failure and dialysis. After 5 years about 90% of people
develop ACKD. They usually seek help because they notice blood in the urine due to the cyst
bleeding. Patients with PKD and progress to end stage renal disease may need the following
procedures; hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and renal transplantation. Polycystic kidney disease is
multiple cyst that form on the kidney. There is NO cure for PKD. Everyone that has PKD does NOT
develop kidney failure. By the age of 60 about 50% of people with PKD will have kidney failure and
60% by the age of 70. Treatment that is used, is used to reduce the symptoms. Your kidney filters
waste and extra fluid from the blood to the urine. When cyst form on the kidney they are sacs filled
with fluid. This can enlarge the kidney. The cyst is replacing the kidney structure reducing the
function of the kidney, this

Analysis Of The Back Of The Turtle By Thomas King
The novel The Back of the Turtle by Thomas King is relevant to Canada in both present day and
history. Through the setting, characters and theme the story is portrayed in a way that makes it sound
like a calamitous prediction for the future of Canada s treasured natural world. Riddled with corporate
greed and environmental disaster, the story follows those involved and affected by the catastrophe that
destroyed Samaritan Bay. His lifelike characters are tangled with labyrinthine emotions that add
another layer of complexity to the story. In my opinion, the novel The Back of the Turtle by Thomas
King is a great novel because of the depth of storytelling that the author can achieve, and deserves to
be recognised as a Great Canadian Novel . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gabriel Quinn, a scientist partially responsible for the destruction of Samaritan Bay and employed by
the company Domidion International; attempts suicide in his hometown of Samaritan Bay and ends up
saving himself in a bid to save a drowning first nations girl in the water. Much like himself, the girl is
struggling in the water, and when he first sees her he describes her as a hand thrust out of the water,
then and arm, fragile, a slender branch caught in a flood. . This girl is a symbol of the guilt that weighs
Gabriel down, from the disaster that drove out the first nations people and obliterated his hometown.
Gabriel meets two other characters, Crisp, a crafty local full of vibrant stories, and Mara, an artist who
returned from Toronto to reconcile with her past. The relationships that Gabriel develop with the
people in Samaritan Bay when he returns is what, in my opinion, makes the novel as good as it

The Endangered Species Act Essay
The Endangered Species Act
Introduction:
Long term survival of a species depends on its ability to adapt to changing environmental conditions
(Murphy, 1994). Genetic diversity within a species, which has taken 3.5 billion years to evolve, makes
adaptations to these changing environments possible. Unfortunately, the rate of extinction of
genetically diverse organisms is rapidly increasing, thus reducing this needed biodiversity, largely due
to the human impacts of development and expansion. What was an average of one extinction per year
before is now one extinction per hour and extinct species numbers are expected to reach
approximately one million by the year 2000 (WWW site, Bio 65). As a result governmental and
societal action must ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The penalties involved in violation of these laws include fines up to 100,000 dollars and one year in
prison. Organizational violations include 200,000 dollar fines and confiscation of all equipment used
(WWW site, ESA). Since its induction, the Endangered Species Act (ESA) has entered 967 species on
its list and has 421 more labeled as possible candidates and 4,000 others as (species of concern
(WWW site, What is..). Over the years, only 22 species have been removed with a third of them
becoming extinct regardless, a third recovering fully, and a third put on mistakably (WWW site, What
is..). In terms of the taking aspect of the law is where the controversy begins. The Takings Clause of
the fifth amendment states, nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just
compensation (Pendley, 1995). This means that any endangered species on an owner s private land
must be compensated for. Regrettably, the ESA of 1973 fell short of its high expectations and has
completely failed up to this point from a multitude of discovered flaws in the authorization of the law
from the start.
Problems with the ESA of 1973:
The problems which have arisen since 1973 seem to be endless. First of all, the time needed to put an
endangered species on the list is much too long. By the time most species get on the list, they are on
the brink of extinction. Second, private

A Rhetorical Analysis Of Blink By Malcolm Gladwell
The human mind is vast and intricate, yet responsive. Everyone has their own special abilities and
talents. Eidetic memory, artistic brilliance, and mathematical mastery are all special skills possessed
by very few, but the one that Gladwell glorifies in his non fiction story, Blink , is the power of
thinking without thinking. He discusses how certain people s subconscious mind has the capacity to
respond to complex dilemmas and situations in less than two seconds. Similar to talents such as
photographic memory and musical mastery, Gladwell states that the adaptive unconscious can be
strengthened and improved. In Blink , Malcolm Gladwell synthesizes a compelling dissertation that
decisions made instantly are just as effective, if not, superior ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Throughout the introduction, Gladwell praises the human brain and our adaptive unconscious by
claiming that it can make a decision within a blink of an eye. It is evident that this is an exaggeration
included to intensify the statement Gladwell is trying to get across. He wants us to understand that,
there can be as much value [in a decision made] in the blink of an eye as in [one that is made after]
months of rational analysis (Gladwell 7). Gladwell also utilizes hyperboles in his introduction during
the beginning with the kouros scandal anecdote. ... In a single glance, [Zeri, Harrison and the other art
historian experts] were able to understand more about the essence of the statute than the team at the
Getty was able to understand after fourteen months (Gladwell 3). Although it is true that the team was
able to identify the flaw almost instantly, Gladwell overexaggerates by claiming that they discovered it
in a single glance. Throughout the introduction, Gladwell refers to the first two seconds . He believes
that the power of knowing what is right within that slim amount of time is a special ability that anyone
can cultivate for themselves. All in all, it is apparent that Gladwell hyperbolizes the immediacy of
snap judgements to emphasize the utmost capacity of the remarkable adaptive

illegal substances into the states. There are many different cartels that run in the nation of Mexico. All

Essay on Medical Marijuana Should Be Legal
The right to use marijuana for optional medical treatment has been a long drawn out battle between
the U.S. Federal Government and the people petitioning for its therapeutic uses. The history on the use
of marijuana (also known as cannabis) has been a big deterrent on legalizing this type of drug today.
The controversy stems from the medical and legal implications that the U.S. Federal Government has
towards the use of marijuana. Others controversies are associated to petitions filed to re classifying
marijuana (a controlled substance) for optional medical treatment. Furthermore, there are conflicts that
pertain with the intervention of the U.S. Federal Government preventing patients the use of prescribed

The U.S. Federal Government has complete control on regulating all (legal or illegal) drugs based on
the effectiveness in therapeutic values and the benefits obtained in medical treatment. The government
has established safety precautions for the protection of the public s health under departmental
supervision. The development of each new drug and the potential value of a drug in medical treatment
are regulated by the Department of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) (Jill 278). Through
scientific research and clinical trials it is the decision of the FDA whether to approve these new drugs
for the purpose of effective treatment (Joy 138). Under the U.S. Controlled Substance Act , the FDA
classifies each type of drug under certain categories. The drugs are categorized based on the potential
abuse (addiction) and the effectiveness that the drugs have in beneficial values of treatment. The types
of classifications are: Schedule I drug high potential for abuse and no recognized medical use ;
Schedule II drug potential for abuse but are prescribable because of their therapeutic effects ; and
Schedule III drug potential for abuse lower than that of schedule I or II drugs . The classifications of
all drugs are strictly regulated by the U.S. Federal Government and are enforced by the U.S. Drug

DISCUSS THE CHALLENGES ASSOCIATED WITH BIODIVERSITY LOSS FOR 21ST
CENTURY CONSERVATION BIOLOGISTS AND SOCIETY AS A WHOLE
Although sustainable development has been at the forefront of international agenda for many years,
we continue to focus on the growth of the economy without worrying about the impact on the
environment. Currently, our ecological footprint (the area in hectares that we require to provide us
with the ecological goods and services we use) is far exceeding our biocapacity (the actual land
available to provide these services); with the human population requiring over 1.5 earths to sustain the
amount of resources we use each year (WWF, 2014). As the growth of the human population shows no
sign of slowing down, with predictions there will be a further 2.4 billion people on the planet by 2050
(WWF, 2014), the pressures we exert on the planet will only increase. This overuse of resources is not
only making it difficult to support our needs, but is also leaving little space and resources left for all
the other species around the globe to thrive, and more importantly, survive. This has led to a decline in
biodiversity at a much faster than would be seen under natural circumstances.
According to the Living Planet Index (LPI); which measures the trends in 10,380 populations of 3,038
species of fish, mammals, amphibians, reptiles and birds; biodiversity has been decreasing rapidly,
with records showing a 52% reduction in the size of these populations from 1970 2010

Essay On Non Traditional Home
A primary indicator for the future success of children is being raised in a peaceful home with the
involvement of two parents. Since America s war on poverty began in the 1960 s, a significant shift in
family structure has taken place. Consequently, the classical vision of an ideal home life has all but
been abandoned by society at large, reflecting an ideal modern family that is far more inclusive of non
traditional parental structures. Furthermore, the guidance produced by social pressure make critical
evaluation of family structure a political risk; however, evidence produced by overwhelming statistical
data indicates that honest assessment is needed to provide efficacy in providing assistance to families
in need. The transformation of social norms from post war America to today has, in many ways,
brought equality and dignity to modernity. No valid argument can be made supporting the
discrimination of the past, and to the extent that unequal protection may exist today, it must be rooted
out and eliminated; however, historical data demonstrating positive statistics for desirable outcomes
should not be discounted because of past shame. Thus, an examination of the past will serve to inform
scholars, allowing objective assessments of societal comportment regardless of the era being
observed. With proper ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Analysis of Frankenstein From Shelley s Novel to Branagh s Film
Branagh s adaptation of Mary Shelly s novel was fairly good with significant changes to Shelly s text;
however this was done to illuminate what he considers to be the major themes of the novel, eg the
dangers of the relentless pursuit of science and Victor s relationships.
Victors love interest with Elizabeth in the film is much more intense compared to what is described in
the novel as communication is mostly through letters, whereas in the film Branagh has Elizabeth
follow him left, right and centre, she even comes to his sick bed after the creation. This however is for
the interest of the audience as many people enjoy love ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As in Shelley s novel victors reaction is the beauty of the dream vanished and disgust filled my heart ,
but Branaghs film attempts to address why he abandons the monster and also how close Victor was to
his family. This makes it even more triadic to bare witness to their deaths, especially when the
distraught Elizabeth is seen carrying Williams s lifeless body, the thunderstorm also sets the scene and
makes the audience feel hatred for the monster and despair for Victor and his family.
Branagh showed the misery of the monster, especially when it was rejected by the De Lacy family but
I think Branagh was very much one sided on where our sympathies should lie and this was clearly
directed towards Victor, this maybe because Branagh is the director as well as Victor. I think Branagh
should have portrayed one aspect of the book in more detail and that is the eloquence of the creature.
Having Clerval stay alive also seems to serve a purpose, this meant they Victors conscience was there
to observe what he did to Elizabeth. Also having Justine killed in that manner made it seem more
painful for Victor as he did not even have a court case as an attempt to save her innocent life. I think
Helena Carter made a good Elizabeth as she portrayed the characters beauty; however she was a bit
boisterous for that particular

Medieval Italy Violence
The Western Roman Empire was plagued with violence and warfare, both before Medieval Italy, and
well after. Medieval Italy was created through warfare, and although these violence outbreaks are
most prominently displayed by wars and battles, much of the violence occurred within the community
in the form of protests, riots, and political outbreaks. Each political outbreak, violence, and treaties
brought newfound rule and therefore a new influence on life during this era. This research essay will
discuss the numerous wars throughout Middle Ages, political shirts, and their results, with the overall
topic determining how each impacted and influenced the era.

The Treaty Of Versailles And Japan
On January 1919, Saionji Kinmochi, Japan s representative to the Versailles Peace Conference found
himself seated alongside the leaders of the Big Four (Great Britain, France, Italy, and the United
States). This occasion marked Japan s status as one of the world s great powers after the First World
War. More importantly the Treaty of Versailles expanded the Japanese Empire because it legalized
Japanese annexation of former German concessions in China and its colonies in the South Pacific.

In 1858 Britain imposed another treaty called the Anglo Japanese Treaty of Amity and Commerce
which forced Japan to make concessions to Britain such as the opening of the ports of Hakodate,
Kanagawa, and Nagasaki to British commerce. For a while parts of Japan were turned into semi
colonial status, which motivated the Meiji regime to modernize and strengthen Japan. Although
Britain imposed unequal treaties to Japan, it helped Japan to modernize, because Britain played host to
the Japanese delegation that studied the political system, industries, education, and the militaries of the
western world. The military cooperation between the two countries was especially strong because the
leaders of the Imperial Japanese Navy were keen on modelling the organization after the British Royal
Navy. Since the 1870 s, Japanese sailors and officers were sent to the United Kingdom to study the
methods and organization of the Royal Navy. Moreover the newly formed Imperial Japanese Navy
acquired some of its first vessels from Britain. In 1894, a new treaty called the Anglo Japanese Treaty
of Commerce and Navigation was signed which paved the way for the Anglo Japanese Alliance in
1902. Unlike the previous two treaties between Britain and Japan, the 1894 treaty was a breakthrough
agreement because it heralded the end of the unequal treaties and the system of extraterritoriality in
Japan. British citizens living in Japan were now

The World Of The Vietnam War
The year is 1965: the skate board is the latest craze in kids toys; the miniskirt makes its appearance;
hypertext is introduced for linking on the Internet; Kellogg s Pop Tarts pastries are created; Sonny
Cher make their first TV appearance in American Bandstand ; rights activist Malcolm X is shot dead;
the Gemini 3 launched the first US 2 man space flight; and the first United States combat forces arrive
in Vietnam. This was not the start of the Vietnam War since the war actually started in 1955, pitting
Communist North Vietnam against anti Communist South Vietnam. The United States believed it had
to protect South Vietnam from Communist take over and is the reason the U.S. supplied South
Vietnam with millions of dollars in military aid as well as with military advisors from the start of the
war. Eventually, the US had no other choice but to send troops to war and it became the first war
Americans opposed publicly and passionately, making the US involvement in the Vietnam War a
shameful venture rather than a noble cause. Although the Vietnam War was the first televised war, it is
unclear if Vietnam War films are able to give an honest portrayal of the Vietnam War experience, or if
truer reality of the war can be found only in textbooks. The Vietnam War was so much a part of
American life that it could not be ignored, and with war films losing their appeal after World War II, it
s hard to know if the Vietnam War would be actually portrayed on the big screen. The

Bay. Its length is 130 km / 80 miles. Its port, Teesport, handles in excess of 42 million tonnes of water
per year. Its main tributaries are the Lune, Balder, and Greta. There are many factors affecting the
drainage baiins of the River Tees, many of these are human factors.
Water Barrage and Watersports: Much of the water nearing the sea is polluted with industrial waste,
sewage, and chemicals. The Tees Barrage, which opened in 1995, enables a 16 km / 10 mile stretch of
the river to provide clean, non tidal water. The barrage was built to improve the river s watersports ...

There are several reservoirs in the river basin used to store water to be used for later use. The
reservoirs also helps in flood control. Water levels can rise very quickly following a rain storm.
Storing water in the reservoir reduces flooding in the lower course.
Farming and Irigation Water: A major land uses in the upper Tees is rough grazing for sheep. The land
is too steep to use machinery, the growing season too short and the soils too thin and acidic For
growing crops and so not much water is needed for irigation in comparison to the River Severn. Only
where the land is less steep is the pasture improved by fertilizers, the occasional crop is grown,
requiring some irigation water from the Tees.
Hydro Electric power: There are no power plants along the Tees.
There are also many natural factors affecting the hydrology of the River Tees drainage basin, these
include:
Geology: There is a succession of falls, where the river traverses a hard series of black basaltic rocks,
the water flows fast her due to the steep down slope, the impermiable smooth rocks also allow fast
flow and no infiltration, and so at times of heavy percipitation the water level at these points in the
river will rise sharply and the power and speed of the river will increase. At flatter areas of these
basaltic rocks the river can flood easily.

and antibiotic soaking. The use of radio protective solutions (i.e. propylene glycol, dimethyl sulfoxide,
mannitol and trehalose) can be effective in reducing the risk of free radical attack to the collagen from
the gamma radiation. Electron based radiation in combination with tissue protective measure (i.e. low
temperature, carbon dioxide) can be an alternative method of sterilization, but further studies are
required to validate this procedure.

Fallacies In Sandra Steingraber s When Cowboys Cry
Fallacies The Wild West was a period of lawlessness of the untamed territories west of the Mississippi
River in the mid to late 1800 s. Where it was filled with gangs, shootouts, native Indians, and most of
all cowboys. In Sandra Steingraber s When Cowboys Cry she is making comparison to the ranchers of
Montana to cowboys, while comparing their situation to the Wild West. The ranchers in Montana are
concerned about the hydrofracking that is going on, and that it s damaging the environment all over
the world. Hydrofracking is a method of pumping chemical laced water into the ground causing
natural gas and oil to rise below groundwater reservoir level. Which is causing springs to stop flowing
and contaminating water sources with the chemicals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Sterling Marking Products Ing.
PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT:
We need to determine whether Sterling possesses the key success factors necessary to expand
internationally into the UK. Our analysis will evaluate the feasibility of Sterling s international
expansion via exporting, licensing and branching.
SITUATION ANALYSIS:
Market Segmentation (SWOT)
Strengths
Significantly higher market demand than in Canada (162k 192k vs. 87K)
Weaknesses
Barriers to entry include, high number of competitors, high exchange rate, high initial capital
requirements, cultural differences among sales people (perhaps not as aggressive as in Canada,
resulting in lower sales)
Lack of current Sterling brand identity
Development of bad reputation
Lack of die and embosser sub assembly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sterling will fail to achieve higher production and revenues. Sterling s presence in the UK market
would remain extremely low with a total number of Mark Maker units sold equaling 3000.
Additionally, Sterling s reputation would continue to be severally damaged as a result of poor die
manufacturing by Jordan, which could potentially harm Sterling Mark Maker s brand identity in other
parts of the world.
Exporter
Important aspect to keep in mind is that under this scenario Sterling is assuming that it will become
the sole provider of Mark Makers in the UK. It is irrational to expect to dominate the entire market
upon entry. While Sterling would be able to meet UK s demand, it would face some fearce
competition especially from UK s top seal producers, which include Jordan and Bolsom, who have
very loyal customers. Furthermore, duty, taxes and other regulatory exporting barriers would
significantly lower Sterling s potential revenues. On the positive side, Sterling would not be giving up
its core competency (computer technology) and the threat of patent duplication resulting in a potential
domestic branch failure would not exist. Additionally, Sterling would be able to test the market with
its problem without high risk exposure.
Licensing
This option possesses a threat to one of Sterling s core competencies, which is its state of the art
computer technology. It would not be in Sterling s best interest

Ethical Effects Of Albinism
Life is not fair, get used to it, said Bill Gates (2000). Bill is actually true, especially for people who
were born with albinism in Africa. Instead of their sickness, a high number of albinos in Africa are
often tortured by people who do not comprehend about albinism. They treat albinos like just an animal
or a product which is invaluable in the black market. Newman (2016) found that albinism is one of the
genetic diseases that caused by a mutation gene. This gene is the key to create melanin that found in
the color of retinas, hair, and skin. This is why albinos have pale skin, white or blond hair and reddish
eyes. Albino s body is totally sensitivity and fragile. In an unfortunate way, many of witchdoctors in
Africa strongly believe that using parts of albino s body or their bones as an ingredient in the worship
will bring a good fortune and wealth, so these cause an immoral albino hunting. ... Show more content

Climbing Mount Everest In Jon Krakauer s Into Thin Air
Climbing Mount Everest, though a great accomplishment few can say to have done, is a life
threatening ordeal. In the book, Into Thin Air, the audience is guided through the entire tragic event
through the author, Jon Krakauer s eyes. Whilst conquering Mount Everest, eight lives were taken
from them on May 10 11, both clients and guides. But the big question still remains unsettled; Who is
responsible for the deaths that occurred on Mount Everest? Jon Krakauer holds greed accountable for
the all the deaths that day. Though there isn t a certain to put blame upon, it was more of a certain
group s fault than it was others. Careless mistakes and decisions were also huge factors which
eventually led up to their disaster. Mountain climbing is already a dangerous sport itself but making it
a competition took it to a whole different level of danger. Everywhere you looked, there was
competition; sherpas were competing against one another to be hired by the guiding services, guide
services were competing for the publicity and exposure from the media, even Krakauer was being
fought for by two guides to be in their group because of the exposure Krakauer s going to bring after
he publicizes his article about his expedition. Nepal were mindless when allowing who could and who
could not climb. They would let just about anyone go for the right amount of money and the guides,
who were more experienced, should have known better to let such inexperienced climbers go. Everest

Essay On The Shots Heard Around The World
The Shots Heard Around the World
It was an eventful evening in the fabulous city of Las Vegas, Nevada . The nightlife was blooming, the
people were exploring, and the celebrities were enjoying their freetime in casinos, concerts, or a
boxing match. One of the most famous rappers was attending the match on September 13, 1996. If
you were born before the new century, then you might have heard about what events took place that
night. One this unfaithful night, rapper Tupac Shakur was attending a boxing match with his friend

was shot the first time. On November 30, 1994, Tupac and his crew went to to record an album. In the
same building, several floors above where Pac was jumped, robbed, and shot, Biggie Smalls and Puff
Daddy were recording a music video. Tupac and his friend Freddie were about to board onto the
elevator when they were approached by three men. Tupac immediately reached for his gun when the
other men pulled out their weapons. They shot him in the leg, sending Tupac to the ground, where
they snatched his jewelry are shot him a couple more times. Biggie and his crew knew that Tupac was
in the building and didn t bother to even come down and see what happened. Pac, while in the
hospital, is charged with sodomy. Once he recovered, Tupac was sent to prison where he would serve
a short sentence. He was livid at Christopher for never visiting his friend while he was down. Another
slap to the face for Pac was when Bad Boy Records started to make jokes about the rapper and the full
on hatred started once Biggie released the song titles, Who Shot Ya . Tupac got out and immediately
responded with a track titles, Hit Em Up . Now that this rivalry was set up, it was pretty obvious that
these were just gang attacks on each other. This is the most believed theory of them all. It makes the

Essay on Media s Portrayl Of Women
Media in today s society is constantly degrading women and sending negative messages about the
ways in which women should be treated; women are becoming objectified in the sense that they are
seen as objects with little value. The media, which seems to endlessly show women as sexual objects,
limits their potential and damages their sense of self worth.
More often than not the media depicts the way people go about their daily life. People look at the
media to determine how they should dress, act and in some cases even how they should perform

Just like in the song Sexy Bitch when Akon states Im trying to find the words to describe this girl
without being disrespectful many men today are having the same problem. It is not too often that
women hear the words beautiful, gorgeous, or lovely, instead they hear hot, sexy, or somkin . This is
shown again in Akon s song when his whole chorus is Damn You s a sexy bitch, a sexy bitch. Many
music videos have women being portrayed as ravenous women who want sex at all times.
(Dreamworlds 3) They send out the message that women are just there as sexual objects and are
nothing more than females seeking male attention. (Dreamworlds 3) The music video s always show
women hanging off of men, and doing anything they have to in order to get attention. Most music
videos are fairly predictable in the ways they sexualize women, sometimes in violent ways. As in
movies women are generally present in music videos to be looked at. (Shaw and Lee, p507) It is
examples like these that are damaging to a women s sense of self worth. Although some women may
fall into this trap and accept that they are looked at as sexual objects for men, many will not. It is a
disgrace that the media can have such a damaging effect on a women s sense of self worth. Society as
a whole watches these videos and listens to these songs, and if this is the way that society is portraying
women, then this is the way women are going to look at themselves.
Although the media serves as the central

The Increasing Significance of Multinational Company
The increasing significance of MNCs in 1950s transformed them to the dominant phenomenon in the
international economic relations since then. It has triggered a strong interest among the scholars,
media, and society. The surrounding controversy around MNCs has triggered the need and necessity
for the analysis due to the fact, that it is described by some scholars and economists as the principal
instrument for maximizing world welfare, and by others as the imperialistic agents (United Nations
Publication 1973, p.1). Non state actors are the international organizations that possess the diplomatic
power and corporate with the states in the global scene (Kegley and Wittkopf 2004). The question is
whether MNCs are such important non state actors and in which ways they exert power over the
states. First of all, one needs to comprehend the definition of a MNC. A MNC is a business
organization whose activities are located in more than two countries. This means that MNC consists of
a country where the business is incorporated, and of the branches, or subsidiaries in foreign countries.
MNCs can obviously vary in the extent of their multinational activities as regards to the number of
countries in which they operate. A large MNC can operate in hundreds of countries. The economic
reality demonstrates the ability of the company located in one country to control the operations in
foreign countries (Chandler and Mazlish 2005). According to Department of Economic and Social

Summary Of The Jungle By Upton Sinclair
In the Labor Union, many workers advocated for improvements of working conditions. In an excerpt
by Upton Sinclair s The Jungle describes the disgustingness of meatpacking industry and the
horrendous conditions the workers had to be in. Workers had to work at least 16 hours of labor a day
under dreadful working conditions, while being paid low wages. On top of that, many workers would
lose limbs while working; workers would lose their lives at work. The majority of the workers would
be children, due to children not asking for high wages and they are able to get into the machines to
work or fix them. Moreover, an important figure, Albert Parsons, came into the issue by fighting
against the terrible working conditions and demanding less working hour days with a higher wages for
workers. Thus, by the turn of the 20th century late 1800 and early 1900s, labor unions created
restrictions for successful businesses by placing rules that punish the rich on account of striking
against the conditions of work, Albert Parsons actions for less hours and higher wages and Anarchist
rioting. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The idea of striking suggests that strikes punish the rich because it stops production and it is

workers are willing to stop working for their rights of better conditions, which can impact their

Agency Representation In Congress
When looking how effectively a country represents its citizens, it is important to take into account the
manner in which they are represented. The two main types of representation are descriptive and
agency representation. Descriptive representation is the concept that those who represent the American
people should not only have the same political interest, but should also mirror the demographic
makeup of the people. Agency representation, which is what the United States congress looks like, is
when the representation does not reflect the demographic, but they speak for their constituents
interests in congress. The constituents are able to hold the representatives accountable and can choose
not to elect them in the next term, so the representatives ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Virgil, in his epic poem Aeneid tells a story of Aeneas, a Trojan survivor who travels to Italy, and
becomes the ancestor of Romans. The first part of the epic focuses on his travels, while the second
part describes his victory over the Latins. Virgil did not create Aeneas, he was already a known epic
hero who also appears in Iliad. Virgil took all his stories and wrote Aeneid, a story of glory, wars, gods
and heroes. Venus as a benefactor of the Trojans and more importantly his mother helps Aeneas

Tim Tebow is a Minor League Baseball player. He had switched from the National Football League to

Patriots wanted him to change his position from quarterback. He told them that he couldn t picture
himself as anything other than quarterback before he made the switch. When Tim Tebow switched
there was a big controversy on why he switched. Many football fans believed that he had only

Issues In The Neutral Curriculum
It is very common that worldview issues, influence curriculum decisions in public education. When
discussing the curriculum itself, one must understand that it reveals the information and skills that
schools are theoretical doing, to help students master the content knowledge need to succeed in life. A
curriculum can be a system of practices arranging from study guides, to books. Since the fact that a
curriculum has distinguishes a great deal of elucidation, there is often times no discrepancies being

Many establishments in the educational system change as culture unfolds (Van Brummelen, 2002, p.
81). The reason that change is necessary in the educational curriculum, is for the reason that in the past
decade, there has been an emergence of expansions that are performing research based, top practice
teaching strategies, which are escorted by discoveries regarding learning and learners. With change, it
is predominant throughout our school in the U.S. In our country, these changes are taking place
rapidly, against a framework of the move from an industrialized economy that is solely constructed on
the universal traffic of information. In America, our nation has progressed to a post modern
civilization. In our schools, they are not designed to prepare our children for the needed knowledge
our economy or its demand for the effects over the process.
Another important influencer in the educational curriculum is worldview. Worldview ingresses the
equality from a variety of sources. In every school throughout our country, every curriculum, text
book, and teacher has a worldview that influences the students. Sometimes this may be the student s
background (where they come from), or their surrounding environmental setting. As parents of these
students, they need to identify what that worldview is and whether or not it is healthy for their

  • 2. Sigmund Freud s and Carl Rogers Differing Concepts of... This essay is to describe Sigmund Freud s and Carl Rogers differing concepts of human psychology concerning determinism. Freud is known to be a determinist. This means that he believes that humans don t have free will, that there are forces beyond the individuals control which control their actions and underlying reasons behind behaviours. (http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/determinism causal/). Rogers is known as a non determinist. This is the belief that humans have free will, that they control their own behaviours, desires and are not bound by laws (http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/free will?q=free+will). However a new idea which mostly stems from the cognitive approach has been created called Soft Determinism. This is the idea that people have a degree of free will. That our behaviours and desires are mostly determined however we can choose specific ways to act in particular situations. Freud created the Psychodynamic Approach to explain behaviour. Within it, he describes that there are 3 components of the human mind: The conscious, Pre conscious and Unconscious. The conscious is the part of the mind which is in our awareness; it contains behaviours and desires which we are aware of. The pre conscious is the part of the mind between the conscious and unconscious, it contains items such as memories and desires which we are not currently thinking about but can easily bring to conscious awareness. Lastly is the unconscious. This part of the mind is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Global Warming Is Caused By Emission Of Greenhouse Gases... Global warming is caused by emission of greenhouse gases. 72% of the totally emitted greenhouse gases Is carbon dioxide. CO2 is inevitably created by burning of fuels like e.g. Oil, diesel, petrol etc. The use of such fuels can be minimized by using alternative fuels which do not contain carbon or contain less carbon. The alternative fuels such as ethanol produced from renewable lignocellulosic resources or fuels produced from seawater. Research on improving ethanol production is accelerating for both economical and ecological reasons, primarily for its use as a alternative to Petroleum based fuels. Lignocellulosic biomass is the most abundant raw material in the world. Production of ethanol from renewable lignocellulosic Resources may improve energy availability, decrease air pollution, diminish atmospheric CO2 accumulation. The production of fuel from seawater takes 23,000 gallon of seawater to produce to produe one gallon of liquid hydrocarbon fuel. This process solves two problems; dependence on fossil fuels and rising of sea level. The ultraviolet rays coming from sun also contribute to global warming by destroying the protective ozone layer. Sunshade Geoengineering the installation of a Reflective Mirrors between earth and sun to reduce the incoming solar radiation, has been proposed as a Mitigative measures to counteract anthropogenic global warming. If both parents have the gene and pass it on to their child, this is called Recessive inheritance and the child has 25% chance of getting the disease. There are three types of PKD. Autosomal Dominant PKD is the first form. This form is passed from parent to child by dominant inheritance. Symptoms usually begin between the ages of 30 or 40 and can be earlier than that. • 5. Analysis Of The Back Of The Turtle By Thomas King The novel The Back of the Turtle by Thomas King is relevant to Canada in both present day and history. Through the setting, characters and theme the story is portrayed in a way that makes it sound like a calamitous prediction for the future of Canada s treasured natural world. Riddled with corporate greed and environmental disaster, the story follows those involved and affected by the catastrophe that destroyed Samaritan Bay. His lifelike characters are tangled with labyrinthine emotions that add another layer of complexity to the story. In my opinion, the novel The Back of the Turtle by Thomas King is a great novel because of the depth of storytelling that the author can achieve, and deserves to be recognised as a Great Canadian Novel . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gabriel Quinn, a scientist partially responsible for the destruction of Samaritan Bay and employed by the company Domidion International; attempts suicide in his hometown of Samaritan Bay and ends up saving himself in a bid to save a drowning first nations girl in the water. Much like himself, the girl is struggling in the water, and when he first sees her he describes her as a hand thrust out of the water, then and arm, fragile, a slender branch caught in a flood. . This girl is a symbol of the guilt that weighs Gabriel down, from the disaster that drove out the first nations people and obliterated his hometown. Gabriel meets two other characters, Crisp, a crafty local full of vibrant stories, and Mara, an artist who returned from Toronto to reconcile with her past. The relationships that Gabriel develop with the people in Samaritan Bay when he returns is what, in my opinion, makes the novel as good as it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Endangered Species Act Essay The Endangered Species Act Introduction: Long term survival of a species depends on its ability to adapt to changing environmental conditions (Murphy, 1994). Genetic diversity within a species, which has taken 3.5 billion years to evolve, makes adaptations to these changing environments possible. Unfortunately, the rate of extinction of genetically diverse organisms is rapidly increasing, thus reducing this needed biodiversity, largely due to the human impacts of development and expansion. What was an average of one extinction per year before is now one extinction per hour and extinct species numbers are expected to reach approximately one million by the year 2000 (WWW site, Bio 65). As a result governmental and societal action must ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The penalties involved in violation of these laws include fines up to 100,000 dollars and one year in prison. Organizational violations include 200,000 dollar fines and confiscation of all equipment used (WWW site, ESA). Since its induction, the Endangered Species Act (ESA) has entered 967 species on its list and has 421 more labeled as possible candidates and 4,000 others as (species of concern (WWW site, What is..). Over the years, only 22 species have been removed with a third of them becoming extinct regardless, a third recovering fully, and a third put on mistakably (WWW site, What is..). In terms of the taking aspect of the law is where the controversy begins. The Takings Clause of the fifth amendment states, nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation (Pendley, 1995). This means that any endangered species on an owner s private land must be compensated for. Regrettably, the ESA of 1973 fell short of its high expectations and has completely failed up to this point from a multitude of discovered flaws in the authorization of the law from the start. Problems with the ESA of 1973: The problems which have arisen since 1973 seem to be endless. First of all, the time needed to put an endangered species on the list is much too long. By the time most species get on the list, they are on the brink of extinction. Second, private ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. A Rhetorical Analysis Of Blink By Malcolm Gladwell The human mind is vast and intricate, yet responsive. Everyone has their own special abilities and talents. Eidetic memory, artistic brilliance, and mathematical mastery are all special skills possessed by very few, but the one that Gladwell glorifies in his non fiction story, Blink , is the power of thinking without thinking. He discusses how certain people s subconscious mind has the capacity to respond to complex dilemmas and situations in less than two seconds. Similar to talents such as photographic memory and musical mastery, Gladwell states that the adaptive unconscious can be strengthened and improved. In Blink , Malcolm Gladwell synthesizes a compelling dissertation that decisions made instantly are just as effective, if not, superior ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout the introduction, Gladwell praises the human brain and our adaptive unconscious by claiming that it can make a decision within a blink of an eye. It is evident that this is an exaggeration included to intensify the statement Gladwell is trying to get across. He wants us to understand that, there can be as much value [in a decision made] in the blink of an eye as in [one that is made after] months of rational analysis (Gladwell 7). Gladwell also utilizes hyperboles in his introduction during the beginning with the kouros scandal anecdote. ... In a single glance, [Zeri, Harrison and the other art historian experts] were able to understand more about the essence of the statute than the team at the Getty was able to understand after fourteen months (Gladwell 3). Although it is true that the team was able to identify the flaw almost instantly, Gladwell overexaggerates by claiming that they discovered it in a single glance. Throughout the introduction, Gladwell refers to the first two seconds . He believes that the power of knowing what is right within that slim amount of time is a special ability that anyone can cultivate for themselves. All in all, it is apparent that Gladwell hyperbolizes the immediacy of snap judgements to emphasize the utmost capacity of the remarkable adaptive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay on Medical Marijuana Should Be Legal The right to use marijuana for optional medical treatment has been a long drawn out battle between the U.S. Federal Government and the people petitioning for its therapeutic uses. The history on the use of marijuana (also known as cannabis) has been a big deterrent on legalizing this type of drug today. The controversy stems from the medical and legal implications that the U.S. Federal Government has towards the use of marijuana. The development of each new drug and the potential value of a drug in medical treatment are regulated by the Department of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) (Jill 278). Through scientific research and clinical trials it is the decision of the FDA whether to approve these new drugs for the purpose of effective treatment (Joy 138). • 11. Challenges Associated With Biodiversity Loss For 21st... DISCUSS THE CHALLENGES ASSOCIATED WITH BIODIVERSITY LOSS FOR 21ST CENTURY CONSERVATION BIOLOGISTS AND SOCIETY AS A WHOLE Although sustainable development has been at the forefront of international agenda for many years, we continue to focus on the growth of the economy without worrying about the impact on the environment. Currently, our ecological footprint (the area in hectares that we require to provide us with the ecological goods and services we use) is far exceeding our biocapacity (the actual land available to provide these services); with the human population requiring over 1.5 earths to sustain the amount of resources we use each year (WWF, 2014). As the growth of the human population shows no sign of slowing down, with predictions there will be a further 2.4 billion people on the planet by 2050 (WWF, 2014), the pressures we exert on the planet will only increase. This overuse of resources is not only making it difficult to support our needs, but is also leaving little space and resources left for all the other species around the globe to thrive, and more importantly, survive. This has led to a decline in biodiversity at a much faster than would be seen under natural circumstances. According to the Living Planet Index (LPI); which measures the trends in 10,380 populations of 3,038 species of fish, mammals, amphibians, reptiles and birds; biodiversity has been decreasing rapidly, with records showing a 52% reduction in the size of these populations from 1970 2010 ... • 14. Essay On Non Traditional Home A primary indicator for the future success of children is being raised in a peaceful home with the involvement of two parents. Since America s war on poverty began in the 1960 s, a significant shift in family structure has taken place. Consequently, the classical vision of an ideal home life has all but been abandoned by society at large, reflecting an ideal modern family that is far more inclusive of non traditional parental structures. Furthermore, the guidance produced by social pressure make critical evaluation of family structure a political risk; however, evidence produced by overwhelming statistical data indicates that honest assessment is needed to provide efficacy in providing assistance to families in need. The transformation of social norms from post war America to today has, in many ways, brought equality and dignity to modernity. No valid argument can be made supporting the discrimination of the past, and to the extent that unequal protection may exist today, it must be rooted out and eliminated; however, historical data demonstrating positive statistics for desirable outcomes should not be discounted because of past shame. Thus, an examination of the past will serve to inform scholars, allowing objective assessments of societal comportment regardless of the era being observed. With proper ... Analysis of Frankenstein From Shelley s Novel to Branagh s Film Branagh s adaptation of Mary Shelly s novel was fairly good with significant changes to Shelly s text; however this was done to illuminate what he considers to be the major themes of the novel, eg the dangers of the relentless pursuit of science and Victor s relationships. Victors love interest with Elizabeth in the film is much more intense compared to what is described in the novel as communication is mostly through letters, whereas in the film Branagh has Elizabeth follow him left, right and centre, she even comes to his sick bed after the creation. As in Shelley s novel victors reaction is the beauty of the dream vanished and disgust filled my heart , but Branaghs film attempts to address why he abandons the monster and also how close Victor was to his family. This makes it even more triadic to bare witness to their deaths, especially when the distraught Elizabeth is seen carrying Williams s lifeless body, the thunderstorm also sets the scene and makes the audience feel hatred for the monster and despair for Victor and his family. Branagh showed the misery of the monster, especially when it was rejected by the De Lacy family but I think Branagh was very much one sided on where our sympathies should lie and this was clearly directed towards Victor, this maybe because Branagh is the director as well as Victor. I think Branagh should have portrayed one aspect of the book in more detail and that is the eloquence of the creature. Having Clerval stay alive also seems to serve a purpose, this meant they Victors conscience was there to observe what he did to Elizabeth. Also having Justine killed in that manner made it seem more painful for Victor as he did not even have a court case as an attempt to save her innocent life. Although Britain imposed unequal treaties to Japan, it helped Japan to modernize, because Britain played host to the Japanese delegation that studied the political system, industries, education, and the militaries of the western world. The military cooperation between the two countries was especially strong because the leaders of the Imperial Japanese Navy were keen on modelling the organization after the British Royal Navy. This was not the start of the Vietnam War since the war actually started in 1955, pitting Communist North Vietnam against anti Communist South Vietnam. The United States believed it had to protect South Vietnam from Communist take over and is the reason the U.S. supplied South Vietnam with millions of dollars in military aid as well as with military advisors from the start of the war. Eventually, the US had no other choice but to send troops to war and it became the first war Americans opposed publicly and passionately, making the US involvement in the Vietnam War a shameful venture rather than a noble cause. Although the Vietnam War was the first televised war, it is unclear if Vietnam War films are able to give an honest portrayal of the Vietnam War experience, or if truer reality of the war can be found only in textbooks. Sterilization methods should involve a low dose of gamma radiation ( 25 KGy), chemical sterilization and antibiotic soaking. The use of radio protective solutions (i.e. propylene glycol, dimethyl sulfoxide, mannitol and trehalose) can be effective in reducing the risk of free radical attack to the collagen from the gamma radiation.
