The Importance Of English Essay
Crafting an essay on the significance of English poses its challenges. First and foremost, it
demands a profound understanding of the language's global prevalence and impact across
various domains such as communication, education, business, and culture. Moreover, delving
into the historical evolution of English, its diverse variations, and its role as a lingua franca adds
layers of complexity to the discourse.
Furthermore, one must navigate through the intricate web of arguments surrounding the
importance of English in fostering cross-cultural understanding, facilitating international
relations, and driving economic growth. Balancing these perspectives while substantiating claims
with credible evidence and examples requires meticulous research and critical analysis.
Additionally, addressing potential counterarguments that question the hegemony of English or
advocate for the preservation of indigenous languages necessitates a nuanced approach. Tackling
these opposing viewpoints while maintaining coherence and persuasiveness in the essay can be
intellectually demanding.
Moreover, the task entails articulating ideas effectively, ensuring clarity, coherence, and
coherence throughout the essay. Crafting a compelling introduction to captivate the reader's
attention and a thought-provoking conclusion that reinforces the essay's central thesis adds
another layer of challenge.
In summary, writing an essay on the importance of English demands comprehensive research,
critical thinking, and effective communication skills to navigate through the myriad complexities
surrounding the topic and present a well-structured, persuasive argument.

Investigating the Effect of Alcohol on Heartbeat of Daphnia
Daphnia are the organisms that are involved in this experiment to find out what
effect alcohol has on their heartbeat. It is easy to study the effects of alcohol on the
heart of Daphnia as the organ can be easily seen through the transparent body of
Daphnia. The number of heartbeats may be counted before submersion in alcohol and
after submersion in alcohol to investigate the effect of alcohol.
Daphnia belong to the Phylum Arthropoda and are Branchiopoda which belong to the
class, Crustacea. Daphnia are invertebrates and also have an exoskeleton, jointed
appendages, a dorsal heart and open blood system.

This can also be related to Daphnia in the same way. Therefore I predict that as the
concentration of alcohol surrounding the Daphnia increases the greater the percentage
decrease of heartbeat.
ABSTRACT
The aim of the investigation was to find out the effect of alcohol on the heart rate of
Daphnia. My hypothesis was, as the concentration of alcohol increases the lower the
heartbeat of the Daphnia will fall. To test my prediction I carried out 25 individual
experiments which were all carried out using the same procedure but varying the
alcohol concentration of the solution. To investigate how alcohol concentration
affects the heartbeat of Daphnia I recorded the heartbeat of 25 Daphnia for a period
of 7 minutes. This included 1 minute before submersion in alcohol, 3 minutes during
submersion in alcohol and 3 minutes after submersion in alcohol. I then found the
percentage decrease of the heartbeat of the Daphnia from the resting heart rate. At the
highest concentration of ethanol solution, 1x10 1gcm 3 the greatest percentage
decrease of heart rate was 86.5%. The results in general show that increasing the
concentration of alcohol decreases the heartbeat of the Daphnia lower.
METHOD
Before starting the practical part of the investigation the different concentrations of
alcohol that

Lady Macbeth as the Real Driving Force Behind the Murder of King Duncan Even
though Macbeth is actually the murderer of King Duncan, It appears that he commits
this murder reluctantly and should not be blamed for the murder or bear the full
responsibility of the murder. The three witches and Lady Macbethactually played
significant roles in cajoling Macbeth into committing the murder and could be argued
that Lady Macbeth is the real driving force behind the murder of King Duncan.
Witchcraft was a strong influence in Shakespeare s time. People believed in the

The points stated above helps to highlight the roles played by the witches in the
murder of King Duncan.
Most people also believe that Macbeth is responsible for the murder of King
Duncan. Macbeth actually murders King Duncan, this makes him directly involved
in the murder but it can be argued that he was lured by Lady Macbeth and conned
by the witches into committing this murder. Lady Macbeth reads the letter from
Macbeth informing Her of His encounter with the witches and Lady Macbeth feels
Macbeth will be incapable of the murder as she says Glamis thou art, and Cawdor;
and shalt be What thou art promis d. Yet do I fear thy nature; It is too full o the milk
of human kindness. Lady Macbeth s soliloquy in Act1 Scene5 shows that Lady
Macbeth intends to persuade Macbeth into killing the king Hie thee hither, That I
may pour my spirits in thine ear, And chastise with the valour of my tongue All that
impedes thee from the golden round, When Macbeth entered, he was persuaded by
Lady Macbeth to commit the murder and this actually made him over ambitious.
Macbeth is intrigued by the witches predictions and is keen on knowing more. He

Disneyland Motivation Statement
The reason why I am interested in developing a career with Hong Kong Disneyland
is that Disneyland is one of the famous theme park in the world. I believe working
in Disneyland can broaden my horizon and expand my social network. Most
importantly, Hong Kong Disneyland has the passion to become the best theme
park. As a newspaper reports, Hong Kong Disneyland will launch an expansion
plan, including building new theme areas and new amusement facilities for Marvel
Super heroes. With this new theme areas and new amusement facilities, I believe
Hong Kong Disneyland will obtain great support in Chinese market. Also, I think
Hong Kong Disneyland will become more attractive and famous in the future since
the Disneyland company has owned the 21st century fox. By owning the 21st
century fox, Disneyland company has the copyright of many new characters, which
makes Hong Kong Disneyland able to build more theme areas, such as deadpool s
theme area, alien s theme area, or x men s theme area. With the copyright of the new
characters, I believe Hong Kong Disneyland has a broad development space in the
future. Therefore, I want to join Hong Kong Disneyland.

Leon Festinger s Theory Of Cognitive Dissonance
This essay will evaluate the presentation of Leon Festinger s theory of cognitive
dissonance in the world of social psychology. Throughout I will discuss the
establishment of his theory, it s supporting evidence and any limitations of this. I will
also deliberate what it can explain and the alternative explanations presented by other
psychologists; how they differ from Festinger s, how they add to Festinger s original
theory and finally how they extend the knowledge in understanding the interaction
between thoughts and actions to question the position of rivalry over cohesion
between them all.
The theory of cognitive dissonance was introduced by Leon Festinger in 1957, a time
where many claimed social psychology had lost the social aspect ... Show more

It is regarded as a counterintuitive social theory as it implied that actions influenced
attitudes as opposed to the alternative notion, once seen as the more reasonable,
(Miller J. L., 2012). His theory of cognitive dissonance is still referenced today in
numerous credible and published work either in support of the theory or to suggest
revisions, (Dember Jenkins, 1970) cited from Cognitive Dissonance Theory (n.d.),
revealing a lasting impact.
Social psychologist Herbert C. Kelman (1953) first investigated cognitive dissonance
through the consequences of forced compliance and hypothesised the opposite of his
data findings, which revealed that counter attitudinal advocacy occurred more often
in low reward circumstances in comparison to higher reward.
Festinger and James M. Carlsmith (1959), similarly followed to find supporting
evidence of the cognitive dissonance theory. They conducted an experiment in the
U.S. concerning the cognitive consequence of forced compliance and found similar
results. The study involved 71 male participants where they were given two
monotonous tasks of filling a tray and turning 48 pegs clockwise, both with one hand
and for half an hour each. The participants where split into groups, where one
received one dollar for their time and the other received twenty dollars. Both low
reward and high reward groups where then asked to recommend the experiment to
future participants, who were secretly confederates.
Consumer And Consumer Self Identity
1.0Introduction
Consumer researchers have recognized that people consume in ways that are
consistent with their sense of self (Sirgy, 1982). Consumption is not only a tool to
obtain the value of goods and display social status, but also is closely related to self
identity. In the consumer culture, customers no longer just shop because of their
needs. The desire of individual s self development and self taught continue to
stimulate the consumption. People change themselves as much as possible by
buying new goods. In answer to the problem what kind of person he is , people not
only judge other people according to a virtue or quality of the individual, but tend to
be based on personal lifestyle or behavior consistent with specific groups. ... Show

It is important for marketers to understand the concept and dynamics of self, the
meaning of goods then they could use this link to advert better (Elliott Wattanasuwan,
1998).
3.0 The importance of advertising
In the increasingly competitive market, people pay more attention to the development
of brand image. Meenaghan (1995) stated that advertising is considered to be an
important marketing tool. It informs consumers of the product information and it is a
popular and effective way to communicate with their customers. Companies could
attract target groups through advertising. Advertising are largely based on defining
the desires and dreams of the consumers so it do not attempt to manipulate
consumers, but rather the symbolic meanings which are attached to the products.
When a company launches advertising, its goal is to promote consumption and
increase market sales. Abideen and Saleem (2011) stated that advertising promotes
product awareness in the minds of all the potential and target consumers and as such
playing a huge role in influencing the consumer purchasing decision. Therefore, many
companies choose to make the advertising to attract the customers. These companies
also use consumer s self identity concept to advert and let the customers know the
products could satisfy their self identity. There are three different advertisements

Effectiveness Of Stylistics On The Reader. Stylistics Are
Effectiveness of Stylistics on the Reader Stylistics are used in writing to set
various pieces of literature apart, while also determining the effectiveness said
literature has on the reader. The novels Such is My Beloved and By Grand Central
Station I Sat Down and Wept both involve the concepts of sex and religion, but are
each enjoyed by different groups of readers, Factors that highlight these differences
include the point of view which story is told from, the word choice by the author, and
the stylethe novel is written with. Such is My Beloved is enjoyed by more readers
due to its following of a traditional form of writing, use of simplistic direct language,
and a higher use of personal words and sentences than found in By Grand... Show

This is apparent in the scene where the main character is being questioned at the
border and a guard states, Better not try any funny business...you re only making this
tough on yourself. (Smart, 48) Instead of responding to the guard, she answers in her
mind which only the reader can comprehend stating, Let him kiss me with the kisses
of his mouth. (Smart, 48)This shifting mental state of the main character is quite
unique while also creating a need for a higher degree of focus by the audience to
stay on track with the plot.
The dictation used in Such is my Beloved is quite simplistic solidifying further the
ease of read the story has. Callaghan uses short, concise sentences to move the story
forward while providing the reader with a well detailed recounting of events. The
passage examined in this paper captures the dialogue heavy nature of the story and
some of the more heavy narrative portions the story has to offer. An interesting
point is that 32% of the words found on pages 121 122 contain the same fifteen
words. (Chart 1) The word choice by Callaghan was rated by The Reading Level
Skill algorithm to be at a 11 12 grade level. (wordcounter.net) This solidifies an
argument that this story is written to reach many people as it uses a less advanced
dictionary than many other works.
Surprisingly similar in dictation to Callaghan s passage is the entry from By Grand
Central Station I Sat Down and Wept, which although written

Mythological Gender Profiling and the Women of Greece
In the myths of the Centauromachy and the Amazonomachy, the Greeks found a
manuscript for moral and disciplinary guidance in their dealings with the women of
the time. By assigning the women of Greece hybris, Greek men targeted the women
of Greece to intense programs of subjugation and social retribution in order to
prevent the emergence of Centaurian or Amazonian traits, which would destroy the
patriarchal nature of Archaic Greek culture. Generally, Greek myths tend to
exemplify gender profiling as a way to polarize the sexes in order to maintain a stable
and workable patriarchy. This is evidenced in the Centauromachy and
Amazonomachy, which identify undesirable and inherent ... Show more content on

Greeks were absolutely concerned with the values of social custom and social
order. The idea of moira, the station a person or group is assigned to in life was a
staple belief and the backbone of Greek culture. Throughout Castriota s text, there
are comparisons that allude to a relationship between the Greek s views of the
Centaurian s hybris and the qualities possessed by the women of Hellenistic culture.
This comparison will become important in analyzing the usefulness of the myth as a
means for gender profiling and societal management. Closely related to the hybris of
the Centaurs, are the qualities associated with the young women of the time. By
relating the female gender to the Centauromachy, Greeks identified women as a
societal weakness. Castriota states three times, that male characters referred to the
rising of the women as hybris. Clearly, the Greeks have given women equine
characteristics. According to Castriota, young women were called polos, young
mare or filly . The mere implication that women, as a gender, contained in them the
wildness and hybris of the horse was closely reflected in the myth of the
Centauromachy. This is a form of gender profiling, which placed women in a position
of weakness as to their potential contribution to Greek society.
This weakness, as in a military regime, would have to be monitored and controlled
tightly in order to minimize damage done to contemporary Greek society. The
The Effects Climate Change Has on Agriculture and
Livestock
Climate change is one of the major issues surfacing earth over the past century. The
earth s temperature has increased over the years; having effects on the economic and
life sources of people, especially through agricultural production and livestock s.
According to the Oxford dictionary, climate change is a change in global climate
patterns apparent from the mid late 20th century. There are numerous factors that are
solely responsible for this change which are both natural and man made causes.
Climate changehas led to a decrease in quality and quantity of plant produce and
livestock as a result of heat stress, drought and an increase in diseases.
According to Health and Safety executive, HSE, UK, heat stress is a component of
climate change that causes the body temperature to fail , and is a global problem
which affects agriculture and livestock. The effect of heat stress on Livestock s has
become greater for animals such as dairy cows and beef cattle. When animals are
under distress due to temperature rise, they usually cut back on their feeding
practices; have a rise in body temperature and faces weight loss. Milk production,
milk fat, protein content and the progression of breeding has been also affected,
especially in dairy cows. When heat stress occurs, dairy cows tend to reduce the
intake of dry matter in order to control their heat production from increasing through
the process of metabolism and digestion (M. Donnelly, 2012). The University of
Minnesota noted that
Summary Of Appiah s Death Of The Duel
In the first half of Death of the Duel, Appiah begins by providing the details of a
duel between two prominent British government officials, using the specific
example as a jumping point to discuss the general idea of dueling. The form of
honor being represented in this case is that of reputation and the maintenance of
regard from the general public. This concept of honor as a form of social standing
is interesting because it subverts Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs and many other
psychological theories that try to map out human instinct which places safety and
security in higher regard than it does esteem or ego. In the case of the duel, honor is
considered the highest human need, even above life itself if one considers the death
toll, although that mainly applies to the aristocratic class, who had most of their basic
needs taken care of already. In the case of dueling, the society at the time seemed to
conflate the ideas of respect and honor, assuming that the characteristic of
honorability automatically entitled one to respect from peers and lower classes.
Appiah, however, distinguishes the two by noting that honor is the individual... Show

While Appiah believes there is only pride in doing things out of the ordinary, I
believe that it also takes courage and honor to follow honor codes in everyday
circumstances. Being honorable is difficult sin a world where honorable behavior,
contrary to Appiah s belief, is not actually standard behavior. For example, a student
witnesses two bullies harassing another student and steps in to stop them. While this
might be fairly standard honorable behavior, that does not mean the student shouldn t
feel proud of their actions and the courage they took. The pride doesn t detract from
the previously honorable actions. In his argument, Appiah seems to conflate the idea
of pride personal satisfaction with vanity and the need to boost reputation, which I
hold to be two separate

success as an aerospace engineer [Christopher] was raised in the comfortable upper

people today, Walt McCandless made injurious decisions; during the birth of

During high school Christopher informed his parents that he would no longer
accept any gifts from them because they might begin to believe they bought his
respect (Krakauer 21). Christopher had a strong dislike for wealth, but not wealth
itself, what wealth did to people. He believed that it gave people a false sense of
power and security. These people with wealth would then try to buy control,
happiness, and truth. In Christopher s eyes the concept of wealth having any power
was distorted. Another manifestation of McCandless search for empowerment was
his experience of mental and physical hardships. During high school the training for
cross country was very strenuous, not only did Chris view it as physical exercise,
but spiritual as well(website .info). Also, the summer before freshman year
Christopher decided to take a rode trip. When Chris eventually returned home, he
revealed that he had just about died from dehydration in the Mojave Desert (Sexton

this again, it failed. Chris viewed himself to be invincible, just like a teenager that

Investigating The Relationship Between Ph And Water
Hardness
The purpose of this investigation was to determine the relationship between pH and
water hardness. Water samples from above the Mount Morgan mine site and below
the Mount Morgan mine site were also compared.
8.1Analysis of the Data
It was hypothesised that the water sample from above the mine site would be of
better water quality than the sample from below the mine site. It was found that this
was, in fact, the case. As seen in Table 7.2, the above sample had lower acidity,
hardness and conductivity than the below sample.
Given that acidity is indicated by a pH of below 7, the below mine water sample was
considered acidic, at a pH of 4.92. Conversely, the above mine site sample had a pH
of 7.35, indicating an almost neutral profile.
The above mine sample had a conductivity of 2200 ВµS/cm, whereas the below
mine sample had a conductivity of 7500 ВµS/cm. This suggests that there are a
significantly greater number of ions in solution in below mine water than above mine
water.
The below mine sample also had greater water hardness, with a calcium ion
concentration of 5183.29 mg/L, compared with the above mine sample s hardness of
only 115.02 mg/L.
The above mine water mostly exhibited water quality parameter values that aligned
with the water quality guidelines for fresh water. With an almost neutral pH of 7.35,
meaning it is within the recommended pH range of 6.8 9.5 and is also safe for
consumption. The hardness (concentration of calcium ions) of 115.02 mg/L also lies
The s Arms Down, Out Of Breath
Ebon put his arms down, out of breath. He imagined his master smiling and telling
him what a good job he had done. The thought made him swell with pride.
Something he saw yanked him out of his thoughts. The back of the crowd was
stirring. He turned and cut the man, who was about to be burned, loose. May the
King bless you! The man cried as he ran to the outstretched arms of his family.
Ebon smiled as a deep sense of satisfaction washed over him. He then turned and
pushed his way to the back of the crowd. He stood aghast at what he saw.
The two Dark Wizards that had killed Eldon were fighting each other! The boy had
drawn his sword and was hurling spheres of green light at the girl. The girl tried hard
to deflect all of them with her sword. Dark Wizards could not do shield spells. The
boy grabbed his sword with his other hand and pulled it apart. It split into two
swords! His voice roared like thunder. You are a disgrace to the Dark Wizards! You
are a disgrace to me!
The boy continued to yell a spell that Ebon had never heard before. Ebon could see
that the girl was beginning to lose the battle. He watched her swing her sword in
vain. She kept stumbling back. Finally, she tripped and fell over. Her sword clattered
a few feet away. Ebon found himself with an inner struggle. These were murderers.
They killed without hesitation. They were ruthless, unstoppable, and unforgiving. But
the boy was really about to kill her. Even if they were bad, he still felt a need to help.

TSA Airport Security
The Aviation Transportation Security Act of 2001 was the act that created the TSA.
However, the ATSA also created a conflict of interest within the TSA. Ybarra (2013)
described the problem within the TSA as an, agency that establishes transportation
security policy and regulates those that provide transportation operations and
infrastructure (airlines, airports, railroads, transit systems, etc.). But on the other
hand, TSA itself is the operator of the largest component of airport security: passenger
and baggage screening.
The conflict of interest for the TSA lies in the screening of passengers and
baggage. The airport has responsibility for all other phases of security, such as,
access control, perimeter control, lobby control. The airport is responsible for these
things but standards are upheld under TSA supervision. However, for the screening
of persons and objects the TSA conducts the screening and regulates itself.
Regulation at an arm s length is a basic principle of good government; self regulation
is innately problematic. (Ybarra 2013) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the screening process with raises some questions. The TSA is very thorough in its

related to problems with the TSA operated screeners, like the 2007 USA Today
investigation which uncovered TSA screeners at Chicago O Hare International

Alexander II vs Alexander III
Compare and contrast the domestic policies of Alexander II and Alexander III
Alexander II and his successor and son, Alexander III, inherited Russia in different
states and degrees of turmoil. Due to these pressures, both were required to make
alterations to the systems in place, such as that of politics and economics. However
the natures of their crisis were different and therefore the subsequent modifications
varied and were, in many cases, controversial.
Alexander II came to power in 1855 and had to deal with the humiliation Russia
suffered from her loss in the Crimean War. Due to the lacking standards within all
categories, the Czar made a series of reforms in order to better inner stability and
international position. However ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This saw the emergence of the working class, which was a great push towards
progress. Alexander III employed Witte as Minister of Finance. Witte s substantial
impact was that of the progression of infrastructure. Previous to his employment, the
only railway lines within Russia were that which connected its two capital cities:
Moscow and St Petersburg. However Witte recognized the importance of having a
vast and interconnecting infrastructure and pushed the building of tracks within
Russia. He multiplied the amount of track laid by twenty. This provided many
opportunities for Russia; she was able to transport people from the desolate
countryside towards the city as well as transporting goods to other nations. The
increase in trade allowed for the accumulation of foreign currency and thus granted
Russia access to purchasing foreign equipment for industrialization. Both Czars made
incredible progressions for the modernization of Russia.
It is important to notice that whilst their intentions remained the same for both
Alexander II and Alexander III, that of economics and politics, their intentions

Altitude Safety Essay
Changes in altitude have a profound effect on the human body. The body attempts to
maintain a state of homeostasis or balance to ensure the optimal operating
environment for its complex chemical systems. Any change from this homeostasis is
a change away from the optimal operating environment. The body attempts to correct
this imbalance. One such imbalance is the effect of increasing altitudeon the body s
ability to provide adequate oxygen to be utilized in cellular respiration. With an
increase in elevation, a typical occurrence when climbing mountains, the body is
forced to respond in various waysto the changes in external environment. Foremost of
these changes is diminished ability to obtain oxygen from the atmosphere. If the...

At the base of the pharynx are two openings. One, the esophagus, leads to the
digestive system while the other, the glottis, leads to the lungs. The epiglottis
covers the glottis when swallowing so that food does not enter the lungs. When
the epiglottis is not covering the opening to the lungs air may pass freely into and
out of the trachea. The trachea sometimes called the windpipe branches into two
bronchi, which in turn lead to a lung. Once in the lung the bronchi branch many
times into smaller bronchioles, which eventually terminate in small sacs called
alveoli. It is in the alveoli that the actual transfer of oxygen to the blood takes
place. The alveoli are shaped like inflated sacs and exchange gas through a
membrane. The passage of oxygen into the blood and carbon dioxide out of the
blood is dependent on three major factors: 1) the partial pressure of the gases, 2)
the area of the pulmonary surface, and 3) the thickness of the membrane (Gerking,
1969). The membranes in the alveoli provide large surface areas for the free
exchange of gasses. The typical thickness of the pulmonary membrane is less than
the thickness of a red blood cell. The pulmonary surface and the thickness of the
alveolar membranes are not directly affected related to altitude and affects gas
transfer in the alveoli.
GAS TRANSFER To understand gas transfer it is important to first understand
something about the behavior of gases. Each gas in our atmosphere exerts its

to bring an umbrella too just in case it rain hard. I was so excited to go explore and
take beautiful pictures at the woods. I grab my bag and told my dad I was ready to

arrive at her house, I knock on her door and as usual her Russian terrier starts to bark.
Taylor shut up or go outside! I could just hear her screaming at the dog to calm down.
The door opened slowly and there she was, I could tell she was also excited to go and

High Cost Of Abortion Essay
What many people do not realize is that most of the time when a woman gets her
first abortion it is not uncommon to see them have another. Maybe it s due to the
fact that their health care provider covers the cost of the abortion. Or in their case it
is easier for them to get pregnant and then abort it rather than getting on some form of
birth control. Neither is an excuse to killing an unborn fetus. The majority of the data
came from voluntary reports of legal abortions to the Center for Disease Control
and Prevention (CDC). This data was supplemented (when necessary) by data from
multiple sources, compiled by Wm. Robert Johnston. Based on statistics from 1970
2016. The average likelihood that a woman had 3+ prior abortions was 7.4%. This...

This would be a prime example of when a woman should be able to have an abortion
regardless on how far along she is. The national rape related pregnancy rate is 5.0%
per rape among victims of reproductive age (aged 12 to 45); among adult women an
estimated 32,101 pregnancies result from rape each year. Among 34 cases of rape
related pregnancy, the majority occurred among adolescents and resulted from
assault by a known, often related perpetrator. Only 11.7% of these victims received
immediate medical attention after the assault, and 47.1% received no medical
attention related to the rape. A total 32.4% of these victims did not discover they
were pregnant until they had already entered the second trimester (Johnston). The
abortion laws should not constrict woman in a time frame due to some people not
realizing their pregnant until it s too late by law to undergo an abortion. In my
eyes I don t believe it s the timing of the fetus removal that tend to make people go
against the abortion, but the reason to why the woman is undergoing the procedure.
If the country made the laws stricter on to who is able to undergo an abortion, I
believe prolife advocates and prochoice advocates would both agree with each
Doing Business in Saudi Arabia Essay
International Business
Saudi Arabia s Dynamic Culture
Introduction The American way of business differs from many other countries
across the world. Each company has their own set of tactics that they use to close
big deals. Businesses from Saudi Arabia, on the other hand, tend to do things a bit
differently. They take pride in getting to know the individuals from the other
company before even disclosing any information to them. Meetings sometimes take
place in less than formal locations such as coffee shops and cafes. The religious and
social differences between the United States and Saudi Arabia make it challenging for
Americans, unaware of the way of Saudi life, to do business there. They may

(Martinez Carter). When doing business internationally, it is important to consider
how businesses operate within their culture. In western societies such as our own,
businesses tend to be deal focused where people are more task oriented.
Independence and personal initiative characterize U.S. communication style because
the U.S. work culture is very outcome oriented (Martinez Carter). Saudi Arabia, on
the contrary, follows a relationship focus culture, where people put dealings with
friends ahead of business dealings. In Saudi Arabia they are part of a family
centered society where trust of others is highly correlated with the degree of
familiarity with them (Daniels 48). It is uncommon for businesses here to take a
long time to decide if they will partake in a business transaction. Patience is important
when conducting business in Saudi Arabia since decisions are made slowly and in a
bureaucratic manner (McLaughlin). The relationship focus businesses will not be so
quick to conduct a business deal. They would rather take the time and learn about the
business and individuals they are dealing with.
The deal focused businesses like to get right to business with as little time wasting
as possible. It can not be determined that one is better than the other. However it is
more reasonable to follow what your culture defines as more common. The Saudi
way of life is based around religion and family. There are
Sumo Wrestlers Cheat
Both groups cheat because the incentives are worth it; the profits outweighs the
consequences. Teachers help their students cheat because their scores reflect on the
teacher, and the better they do the more likely said teacher is to be promoted or
given a raise, If her students do well enough, she might find herself praised,
promoted, and even richer, (Levitt 23). Teachers are willing to change a couple
answers on their student s test in order to get that raise or promotion. However, for
the teachers, cheatingwas not worth it because the school was able to put together an
algorithm to determine whether or not the teachers cheated. Sumo wrestlers throw
matches in order to help their opponent stay up in the ranks. They do this because they
Religion In The Film Silence
The film, Silence, has a myriad of characters that are on a spectrum of religious
belief. There are certain characters that show an immense devotion to their faith,
willing to risk their life and the lives of others to profess their fidelity to God.
Although this film highlights two Jesuit priests, Father Sebastian Rodrigues and
Father Francisco Garupe, there is an interesting contrasting devotion from the
Inquisition to Buddhism. They have no tolerance for Christianity and believe it to be
a cancer that must be cut from Japan. The priests go to great lengths to find a third
priest, Father Cristovao Ferreira, who has gone missing while operating as a
missionary. Father Ferreira ends up getting captured, recants his faith, and sides with
the Inquisition, helping them investigate objects hidden as Christian relics. There are
many applicable ideas relating to religious fundamentalismwithin the film.
Sigmund Freud and William James differ on the explanation of religious experience.
James focuses on religion as feelings and experiences of an individual. For the most
part the religious experience is felt instead of a concept. James also believes that
religion is not linear or homogenous. There are different perceptions or involvement
one has with their faith. A great example of contrasting persons within their religious
experiences in the film, Silence, is Father Rodrigues and Yosulu Kubozuka
(Kichijiro). The viewer would most likely consider Father Rodrigues as the main
Recent Obstacles and Barriers to Voting
In this essay, I would like to discuss the major obstacles to voting, recent changes to
overcome voting barriers and the political influence of changed rules. Low turnout
in the U.S. reflects that there are obstacles for people to voting and changes to
overcome these obstacles may also bring new problems to different social groups. I
will elaborate on these aspects in the following parts. Obstacles to voting and the
absent voting of pure independents are the reason of low turnout in the U.S. today,
which may also have great influence both politically and legally. The voter turnoutis
the percentage of qualified voters who actually go to an electionto cast a ballot.
Overall, the voter turnout in America is low, with only between 51 and 57 percent of
eligible voters going to polls in presidential electionsfrom 2004 to 2012. The reason
why America has such a low turnout is because of several obstacles in voting. The
U.S. do not provide paid holiday for voters who are workers to vote or well
structured politics for different racial voters, other obstacles like advanced
registration and absentee voting also make the voting more difficult for voters. The
pure independents, who are unlike independent leaners or behaviour independents,
are less well informed and less care about the election information and also
definitely less likely to vote on the Election Day, they do not have any preference for
any candidates or parties. As Hershey mentioned in his book,
U.s. Patent Law And United States Essay
In the United States, both U.S. Patent Law and U.S. Food and Drug Administration
(FDA) law govern the exclusivity rights for new pharmaceutical products. As Chinese
companies invest research time and money in developing new drugs, it is important
to keep in mind both the relevant U.S. patent law and the applicable FDA law that
could affect the exclusivity period for that drug in the United States. Mistakes in not
obtaining proper patentcoverage or satisfying the FDA laws could cost the drug
company valuable exclusivity rights when that drug is sold in the United States. For
a successful drug, the lost of exclusivity rights usually means the loss of substantial
revenue and profit.
How can a drug innovator have exclusivity in the United States without a patent?
The FDA will give a five year exclusivity period for a new chemical entity (NCE)
used in a drug. What does this mean? During this five year exclusivity period, no
other company can submit an Abbreviated New Drug Application(ANDA) to the
FDA seeking approval of a drug product containing the NCE. This exclusivity
period rewards the innovator for all of the research and development effort,
including expensive clinical tests to show the safety and efficacy of the NCE that
must be done to support a New Drug Application (NDA). The five year exclusivity
period allows the NDA holder to recoup this investment. Importantly, this exclusivity
occurs regardless of whether or not a U.S. patent has been issued.

My Senior Season Of High School Track
Born to Lose As I waited in the blocks I heard the commentator once again, In lane
four from Nebraska City and the fastest time in prelims, Stephen Conner! As I
stepped into the blocks, I tried to drown everything out while waiting for the starter s
cadence.
Runners to your mark. Get set. Bang!
My senior season of high school track was supposed to be the year I would win
state in the 100 meter dash. It was expected of me by others, and I was requiring it
of myself. At the time, I thought it was my destiny to become a state champion.
Little did I know, my destiny was actually to fail, and through that failure would
come one of my most memorable life lessons. Track and field is an individual sport.
Being from a small high school in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My coach, a very energetic person, told me the same thing all season long. You
may not be fast enough to win state now, but just wait until your senior year! Little
did I know, he was absolutely right. Once my senior season rolled around, I was
zoned in. The first three years of high school were full of hard work and
perseverance, and the time had finally come to make it happen. Between the 100
and 200 meter dashes, I had won every single race leading up to state, with the
exception of one second place finish in the 200 meter dash. Every night, I laid
awake in bed thinking of the state meet. Every detail was thoroughly planned out
in my head. The key to winning in the sprints is getting a good start out of the
blocks. I was going to explode out so hard that people were gonna think I had jet
fuel in my shoes. In sprinting, a good start will set a runner up in a position to run
as smooth as possible. My start was going to carry me to that perfect position, and
I was going to glide across that finish line faster than anyone in the state. As the
season progressed, I had won conference and districts, and I was expected to win
state. Leaving home, I still had no idea how much the next two days were going to
change my life. The destination for state track is always at Omaha Burke High
School, which is about a one hour drive from my hometown. The
Rjct Task 3
A. Supply Chain Strategy: I recommend the Keiretsu networks as the correct supply
chain strategy for the power tool company. The three main strategies are the Keiretsu
network, virtual company, vertical integration. All of them have their advantages and
disadvantages.
In a Keiretsu network the manufacture will combine the best features of all three
methods, it is part collaboration, using fewer suppliers and some vertical integration.
An example of this style of Keiretsu network would be that the tool company can
work closely with one supplier, such as a parts maker but not by buying out the
company. Here the commitment to a long term business relationship promises
continued mutual growth. They collaborate with each other and share ... Show more

In comparison a department stores has much higher turn over.
Using Inventory Turnover to Calculate Average Days to Sell a Product. Once the
inventory turn rate is calculated then calculating the number of days it takes for the
power tool company to clear its inventory is 365 days divided by inventory turn
rate of 5 times per year, take 365 Г· 5. The answer 73 is the number of days it takes
to go through its inventory. This method can also be used for benchmarking against
companies in the same business. This will help compare the inventory turnover rates.
B. b. Perfect order measure/fill rate: This method measures the error free rate of
each step in the supply chain. Error occurs when the customer has an unsatisfactory
experience with the power tool they purchased because of errors and delays in the
supply chain. The complexities of an extended supply chain make the odds against
fulfilling a perfect order challenging.
The number of defective pieces that are received by customers can be a measurement
of perfect orders. An error code can be developed for faulty power tools. The
following percentages can also be used:
Parts entry 99% correct
Delivered on time 89%
Shipped without damage 87%
All three can be added to calculate the 275/3 = 91%. Therefore, 91% would be the fill
rate.
Fulfilling a perfect order depends on the journey through the supply chain, it is filled

there I don t know if it is possible to see them all. The music and storylines of the
musicals are all so unique to one another, but at the same time can be similar to one
another in various ways. Two musicals I have seen include some of the same
characters, but tell two different stories because of the point of view. One of the
musicals I just mentioned is Wizard of Oz and the other one is Wicked. The three
areas of comparison for these two musicals are the how they came to be, the
characters, and the plot. The musical, Wizard of Oz, is based off the book The

Items and the Resources behind Them
Items and the Resources Behind Them People all over the world are using
resources every day that they do not even think about. People are not aware of
where things come from or what happens to those things after they are no longer in
their possession. In the following paragraphs, I will look into five specific things I
make common use of in a week. I chose to conduct my research on plastic water
bottles, mechanical pencils, plastic grocery bags, cell phones, and ear phones. I
will expand on the materials that go into making these items, and where they come
from. Additionally, I will look into what happens after they have fulfilled their
purpose and whether they are recyclable or not. Each type of water bottle has a
different story. For the most part however, they are made up of similar materials. It
is common that they are made using Polyethylene terephtalate plastics, which are
also known as virgin plastics. The plastic is made by mixing hydrocarbons that are
extracted from crude oil with chemical catalysts. The manufacturing process is
described as each bottle being sterilized, filled, capped, labeled, packed into cases,
and prepared for shipping. Transporting and distributing these bottles consists of
shipping them in lightweight materials which are good for the environment since it
cuts down on fuel costs. Most people only use water bottles until that 1 serving is
gone. But they may be reused or recycled. When they are recycled, the plastic bottles
are shredded into
The Free-Market Economic System In The United States
Prior to the Great Depression, the United States government was very small and did
not possess many agencies or programs. There was also a general belief in a free
market economic system throughout the United States, with the idea that the
economy was capable of regulating itself. In 1929, however, the stock market crashed
due to speculation. Since there was no regulatory agency to manage and protect
investments, many people lost money, their jobs, and banks were forced to close
down. In 1930, the southwestern region of the United Statessuffered a severe drought
due to over farming. This area of land became a gigantic area of unfarmable dust that
would spread throughout the continent. The farming families in the area were then
unable to provide for their families and struggled financially, which forced them to
migrate to the west in search of employment.
RooseveltК»s New Deal programs were intended to reinvigorate the economy as
well as provide aid and employment to those who suffered from the Great Depression

Balancing Work Life and Home Life
Balancing Work Life and Home Life The purpose of the article is to discuss what
organizations can do to adopt more effective management of professional and private
life. Organizations need to help employees define the boundaries between home and
work. These boundaries should be more flexible than they currently are, the value of
transition time between home and work should be recognized, and family should be
more consciously included into career and human resource management. What the
two authors proposed was a new way of looking at the issue: analysis of the daily
transitions both physical and psychological between work and home. They have...

Numerous studies have been conducted on work life balance. The conflict is
primarily caused by two scenarios. The first being an employee bringing home
matters to work, or work matters to home. The second scenario is when work time
interferes on home time. Of all the job factors that influence work life conflict, the
amount of time spent at work is the strongest and most consistent predictor. The
higher levels of work to family conflict reported by managers or professionals often
are a function of their longer work hours. Other reasons include: job security, support
from one s supervisor, support from co workers, work demands or overload, work
role conflict, work role ambiguity, job dissatisfaction, and extensive use of
communication technology that blurs the boundaries between home and work.
When work and life are imbalanced it will lead to an array of problems. Many
employees experience burnout due to overwork and increased stress. This
condition ranges from blue collar workers to upper management. Over the past
decade, rises in workplace violence, an increase in levels of absenteeism, as well as
rising workers compensation claims are all evidence of an unhealthy work life
balance. Personal ambitions, the pressure of family obligations, and accelerating
pace of technology all play a part to causing this condition. There are several
possibilities to provide a balanced work life and learning how to eliminate home and
work place stress. An employee

For any teacher to be able to pass on sound knowledge of education to their scholars
irrespective of the race or language of instruction they must have a pattern of teaching
and monitor the progress of the students.
The teachers must have a one on one or intimate teaching relationship with their
scholars for them to have sound understanding on how to carry out their teaching
pattern.
Once the teacher is familiar with the scholars, depending on their level of knowledge,
the introduction of phonetics and vowels and how to make up words through,
speaking, reading and listening will be the basic teaching pattern (Richards Rodgers
2001, p.21). The language of instruction must be put into consideration since most
of the scholars are classified as international students. They have to be instructed in
a clear and loud voice and every word or assignment being taught has to be repeated
before and after writing it down on the blackboard (Richards Rodgers, 2001, p.11).
On achieving this, great emphasis will be laid on the introduction of the different
parts of speech or structuring of grammar and rhetoric (e.g. phrases, clauses and
sentences) which will help the students build up on how to make sentences and
where to
Comparing Feste s Use Of Polysemy And Homonymy
Wordplay is an important and frequently used component of Shakespeare s written
works. Aside from being a common approach by other Elizabethan writers, the
puns have been used to provide comic relief, to build up tension, to provoke
thoughts, and to clarify or explain. More than once do the puns either create a clear
picture of the emotions in the scene or furthermore allow the audience to develop
their own thoughts about what is truly occurring. Pure lexical ambiguity derives
mainly from two sources: polysemy and homonymy (Su 1994: 32), and as inferred
from Cabanillas (1999: 31 36), those two are the starting point for nearly all of the
prevalent and mentioned kinds of puns. There is a fine line between the two:
Polysemy refers to the coexistence... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fusion of words or their sounds, referred to by others as portmanteau, may fall
under this. Similar to the example provided by Cabanillas wherein Cleopatra s
intrinsicate brings together the meanings of intricate and intrinsic , an example of
such pun is also seen in Hamlet. Eats not the flats with more impetuous haste is
quoted from Shakespeare. And as M.Mahood commented on the particular line:
The Messenger in Hamlet likens Laertes invasion of the palace to the ocean s
inpittious haste because he is both impetuous and pitiless to those who bar his way
(1988: 16) the blending definitions of acting without care and cruelness work as
suggestions that lead to the word haste and also provide an insight into the
character s personality. In Act I Scene III of Julius Caesar, I met a lion/ who glazed
upon me ambiguously indicates whether the lion s fixed look is of admiration and
eager or its counterpart of intense and angry

Federal Government Research Paper
1.what is the basic structure of the U.S Government? The federal government is
composed of three distinct branches: legislative, executive and 3judicial. These
powers are vested by the U.S. Constitution in the Congress, the President, and the
federal courts, including the Supreme Court and it is comprised of the president and
his cabinet. It is his or her job to enforce the laws of the constitution. It is composed
of the entire judicial system, and not just the supreme court. It is their job to make
sure that the laws are constitutional and not encroaching upon the rights of the
citizens. Lastly, it is made up of both the senate and the house of representatives. It is

It contains rights designed to guarantee individual freedom, several of which apply
to criminal procedure. The original text of the constitution generated some
opposition on the ground that it did not include adequate guarantees of civil liberties
. In response to this, the first amendment along with the rest of the Bill Of Rights
was adopted on December 15 1791. Many, but not all of the criminal law rights apply
to the federal government and all state governments. For example, the Fourth
Amendment prevents not only federal officers, but also their state officers, from
carrying out unreasonable searches and seizures. in addition to this it also prohibits
the unreasonable search and seizure ban ,the prohibition against double jeopardy the
privilege against self incrimination, the right to a speedy and public jury trial. (page

process clause can be found in the 14th amendment of the constitution, it states
something similar the provision in the Fifth Amendment, which only restricts the
federal government. It states that no person shall be deprived of life, liberty, or
property without due process of law. In other words due process is the legal
requirement that the state must respect all the legal rights that are owed to a person.

Poetry Of Songs Of Innocence And The Little Black Boy
Essay
London , Holy Thursday , The Lamb , The Tyger , The Nurse s Song , and The
Little Black Boy are all written by William Blake. His two main collection of his
poetry are Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience. The Lamb , The Nurse s
Song , and The Little Black Boy belong to the collection of Song of Innocence
because of the theme of happiness. The Tyger, London , and Holy Thursday belong
to the collection of Songs of Experience because of the theme of darkness. The
collection of poetryof Songs of Innocence had poems that were happy. The
collection of Songs of Experience had poems that were darker. The purpose of this
is paper is to analyze the poems and how the poems are related to the collection of
his poetry. William Blakewas born in London in 1757. He didn t start as a writer but
as an artist known as engraver. As Professor Mahoney said, he was born innocent
and would make people depraved. According to Monroe, Blake would see a tree
filled with angels, bright angelic wings, bespangling every bough like stars (3).
His parents weren t amazed of what he would see because of that his mother
decided to homeschool him for his own protection. She was scared that he would
get bullied for what he would say. He had a lot of English writers criticizing his
work. Monroe said, Alexander Gilchrist warned his readers that Blake, neither wrote
nor drew for the many, hardly for work day men at all, rather for children and

The Atomic Weight Of The Unknown Barium Carbonate
In this lab experiment, an unknown metal carbonate went through a chemical
reaction with 1.0 M barium chloride, forming products of barium carbonate and an
alkali metal chloride. The unknown alkali metal carbonate also went through a
chemical reaction with 1 M hydrochloric acid, forming an alkali metal chloride, with
liquid water, and carbon dioxidegas as products. A final flame test was done to
reveal what the unknown alkali metal was. Once all molar masses were calculated,
the masses were extremely varied, ranging from 37.061 grams per mol to 133.110
grams per mol. When the flame test was performed, yellow orange colored flames
appeared, revealing that the unknown alkali metal carbonate was sodium carbonate.
The purpose of this experiment was to use different type of tests to determine the
atomic weight for the unknown alkali metal carbonate along with determining
which alkali metal it is. The first test consisted of reacting the aqueous metal
carbonate with barium chloride in a precipitation reaction [1 M2(CO3) + 1 BaCl2
в†’ 1 Ba(CO3) + 2 MCl]. The product of this reaction is barium carbonate, which is
isolated and later weighed by using filter paper and a Buchner funnel with vacuum
filtration. When weighed, the barium carbonate can be converted to moles of the
unknown carbonate and grams per mol of the unknown alkali metal carbonate can be
calculated. The second reaction consisted of reacting the unknown carbonate (a base)
with hydrochloric acid (an acid) to form
The Community Treatment Orders ( Cto )
The introduction of Community Treatment Orders (CTO) has raised much debate
around the issue of whether this is an ethical practice or not. This debate calls for a
number of questions to be answered. For starters, can unethical practice be justified
if it is for the greater good? More specifically, should the elimination of individuals
rights be accepted if success is to be achieved from these programs. In order to gain
insight into answering these questions, Community Treatment Orders need to be
defined first. According to the Mental HealthAct , a Community Treatment Order sets
out terms under which a person must accept psychiatric drugs, therapy, and other
services while living in the community (Mental Health Act 2007). CTO s include...

By doing so, they are given the opportunity for social inclusion and to be part of a
community (Lawson Smith et al, 2008). In addition, the fact that they are still in
operation today supports the idea that change is needed in society. From a political
perspective, they are enforced by governments in order to help those who are most
vulnerable, to remedy discrimination, and protect the general public (Russell, 2011).
As wholehearted as these goals may be in theory, the fact remains that the intended
results are not being achieved and civil liberties are being infringed upon.
Those opposing the use of CTO s are influenced by three reasons to support their
position. The first reason deals with the current evidence base. For starters,
international research literature has found no strong evidence on the positive or
negative effects of CTO s on three key outcomes. These outcomes are hospital
readmissions, length of hospital stay, and patients quality of life (Lawton Smith et al,
2008) Furthermore, a 36 month study of 198 patients concluded that CTO s do not
prevent relapse and readmission of psychiatric inmates with severe and enduring
mental illnesses . The study showed that results were in line with the current national
use (Rugkasa, Yeeles, Koshiaris, Burns, 2016). Analysis of these results shows that
there is no compelling reason for CTO s to continue to exists, given the lack of
improvement that they provide.
The use of CTO s is

Four Manners Of Death
Manners of death are one of the most important factors of an investigation. The four
different manners of death are suicide, homicide, natural, and accidental. The
difference in these is if the state is going to prosecute. Getting this information right
during the investigation will keep the right people behind bars and help families
learn to heal. Homicides are the killing of another person. A homicide is a very
serious crime that shocks the community. Even though we are in a rural area,
homicides still happen around us. When investigating a homicide, it is important to
look for a murderinstrument. Suicides happen when someone decides to take their
own life. Some of the most common suicides are asphyxia or gunshot wounds to the
head. An accidental... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some people can die from carbon monoxide poisoning without even knowing
because this gas is odorless. The most usual carbon monoxide death would involve
sitting inside the car with a tube running inside the car from the exhaust system.
This seems to be a preferred way to commit suicide because all the person does is
lay down and fall asleep forever. A sign to look for with a dead body inside a
residence if drugs, medical conditions, and trauma are ruled out is cherry read
skin. Although it can be spotted on the skin it is very dangerous to investigate this
kind of case. Often officers will go inside the residence to see the dead body when
there could still be a high content of carbon monoxide in the air. It has been noted
that if residence is going to use carbon monoxide to kill themselves some
considerate residence have put up signs letting first responders know so they are
not subject to the poison. If there is no sign left up by the victim officer should be
aware of poison if they get a headache or if they feel
The Effect Of Insufficient Production Of Dystrophin
The contractile unit of a muscle cell is the sarcomere. Sarcomeres are mostly
comprised of actin and myosin which pull and slide upon each other. These
contractile units are linked end to end, like a chain, throughout the length of any
given muscle. Certain proteins link the ends of these chains to the cell membrane.
When a normally healthy individual exercises, some of these fibers, both in the
sarcomere and at the connections to the cell wall, will be broken down due to
damage (Leyva, 2013). Associated with this process includes the rebuilding of these
fibers, in which the body builds back what was damaged stronger than before the
damage occurred (Leyva, 2013). One of these end proteins is dystrophin. The
purpose of this paper is to explore the implications of insufficient production of
dystrophin, as in DMD.
Pathology
Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) is an X linked genetic disorder in which
muscle cells do not reproduce dystrophin. This means that during the rebuilding of
new muscle, the muscles of those individuals who have MD do not appropriately
repair and rebuild the fibers containing dystrophin. In essence, it is similar to a minor
tendon tear on a microscopic level happening on the inside of the muscle. Due to this
dysfunctional rebuilding of these connective components, there is an even greater
discrepancy between the amount of force the sarcomeres can produce and the amount
of force the fibers which connect to the cell membrane can withstand. This causes

Essay The Crucible
Fear can lead to a lot of things, but unfortunately, in humans it usually leads to
something bad. Throughout history, fear has lead to some of the most violent
actions by man, and some of the biggest collapses of organized society. In early
American history, the people of Salem experienced this for themselves. Arthur Miller
shows this in his book. The society of Salem that Miller creates in The Crucible
shows how fearcan slowly cause rational thoughtto deteriorate, leading to mass
hysteriaand eventually the breakdown of civilized behavior. During Act I, Miller
shows how each Salem s citizens begin to realize this fear they have, and how it is
slowly starting to take over their minds. This new idea that witchcraft exists in their...

Once the people of Salem fully realize their fear, Miller shows how they try to
justify this fear, but that they are in fact becoming more and more hysterical. They
now try to find a justification for thoughts and their fear of evil. They need some
solid proof to back up these accusations that they make, and they need to clear their
own names as well. So, they arbitrarily start claiming that [they] saw...with the
Devil , and that [they] saw...with the Devil (45). These unjustified explanations for
their fears just shows how truly corrupted their minds become. They start naming
their own friends, neighbors, and even their own family in order to clear
themselves and more importantly to try to prove that this witchery is really upon
them, and to prove that they are not just crazy. What it really does is show how
hysteria is setting in, and how they have actually accepted these lies as the truth.
While questioning each other on the matter, their breakdown can really be seen
through their quick, almost sputtering manner of speaking: Hale: Did you call the
Devil last night? Abigail: I never called him! Parris: She called the Devil? Abigail: I
didn t see no Devil! Hale: You cannot evade me...(40)
This pace at which they speak proves how they have no real justification, only that
they can accuse someone and use that as proof. They speak in little fragments that
can barely be considered
Marissa Meyer s Futuristic Dystopian Novel Cinder
Marissa Meyer s futuristic dystopian novel, Cinder, is set in an advanced society
containing large divides between different groups of people including; cyborgs,
humans, and Lunars. Cyborgs are often looked down upon as inhuman machines that
are held to high expectations though, the majority of cyborgs are partially human.
The antagonist, Cinder, is a cyborgwho struggles with these divides between people.
Because of this, Cinder feels the need to hide her Cyborg self and constantly work
to appease others in order to be accepted. One theme this story suggests is In a
society that can be very demanding, people need to learn to stop trying to please
others, live for themselves, and do what they believe is right and they will benefit
from their actions. This theme is shown throughout the story in a series of critical
scenes and also portrayed using author s craft.
From the beginning of the story, the theme is very evident. In one of the critical
scenes, Cinder visits her dying sister in quarantine after being victimized by the
plague. After receiving the message that her sister has only little time, Cinder
arrives in quarantine to visit her. When Cinder arrives, she finds Peony s ID chip
being removed which was only done to victims who were dead or dying. Despite
knowing there would be harsh consequences if she were caught, Cinder confiscates
the knife from the Med droid and asked for forgiveness while she grasped her sister s
fragile wrist, (Meyer 263) and removes

Schism Between Sunni And Shiite Caliph
A caliph is the chief Muslim civil and religious ruler, regarded as the successor of
Muhammad. Sunni and Shiite split the old caliph died, also because Muhammad did
not leave clear instructions on who should be next caliph and everyone wanted their
family to be the next caliph. A schism happened between the Shiites and the Sunni
because they couldn t decide who should be the next caliph. Caliph is a religious and
political leader of the Muslim community This is important because it means whoever

The dispute over the succession of Muhammad led to the battle of Jamal and battle of
Siffin . When this happened it caused civil war across Islam and led to the death of
Hussein bin ali. The Shiites believed that the successor of the prophet Muhammad
should stay within his family bloodline . This led to an argument between the Sunni
and Shiites that caused a split between the the Sunni and Shiite. The Sunni believed
that the leadership role should be given to someone chosen by the upper class people
of the Islamic culture. By this happening it led to an argument between the Sunni and
Shiite that eventually led to the Sunni and Shiite schism. The Sunni prevailed and
were able to choose the first caliph after the prophet Muhammad. When this happened
it told the Shiites that the Sunni had more power that then them and that they needed
to fight back if they wanted their way. The battle between the two groups split them
into two peoples that would never reunite with each other. By this occurring it was
the reason the two peoples split. In conclusion the Sunni and Shiite schism occurred
because the prophet Muhammad did not leave clear instructions on who should be

Objectives Of Playing Millionaire
Based on this case study, as stated earlier on, the objective of playing millionaire is
to own as much properties and gain profit by selling or renting it among the players.
Players move around the game board buying or trading properties, developing their
properties with their houses and hotel, and collecting rent from their opponents, with
the goal to drive them into bankruptcy. Therefore, there are three parameters that we
have considered while collecting some data regarding this gamewhich are dicerolls,
the propertyand going in and out of jail. These three parameters are all dependent with
each other.
The game begins by having each player to roll the dice to decide who goes first.

There are three possible ways for the players to end up in jail which are : by
landing on the Go to Jail space, by drawing a Go to Jail Chance card or either by
rolling three doubles continuously. If a player is in jail, they do not take their
normal turn and must either pay a fine of RM50 to be released from jail, use a
Chance or Fate Get Out of Jail Free card , or they can try to roll doubles on the
dice. If the player fails to roll doubles they lose their turn. Failure to roll doubles in
their third turn will result in paying the RM50 fine to be released. Moreover, when
the player is in jail, they may not buy any property directly because they are
currently not moving around and does not land on any properties on the board.
Nevertheless, they may sell, trade and mortgage properties, purchase buildings, and
collect rents while they are in jail. If the player does roll doubles to exit jail, they
may immediately move according to the roll, but they cannot roll a second time after
exiting jail. Therefore, there are changes in probability to land upon the ideal
property if the players end up in
How Did The Wesley Brothers Come To The American
Revolution
It is diligently to be noted, the faith, which brings not forth repentance, and love
works,is not that right living faith which is here spoken of, but dead and devilish
one. John and Charles Wesley . The Formative Years The Wesley brothers had an
interesting journey to their ministry experience but they seem to have been in the
will of God.. John Wesley was the first born in Epworth in Lincoln shire England in
1703 until he died in 1791. His brother Charles was born some time later in 1707
until he died in 1788.
John and Charles Wesley are the founders of the United Methodist Church or

during this time Johns heart had become strangely warm and tender. During a prayer
meeting in London. Years following both brothers would go to have lively meetings
that would ultimately lead a renewal in the Church of England. The Methodist
movement would spread this became clear that their ministry would come to the
American colonies. As some Methodist made the hazardous trip across the Atlantic to

Willa Cather s O Pioneers !
Cather portraying herself in the characters and the flipped gender roles
Considering I am one of the only two males in the Intro to Women s Literature
class, I felt moved to touch on Willa Cather s flipping of the gender roles in the
book O Pioneers! I will be using my own opinion in this essay, along with textual
evidence to back up my claims. I will also be establishing connections between
Cather s portrayals of herself within the themes and characters in the book.
As we know, Willa Catherwas very open about her sexuality and her feelings
towards women. She dressed like a man for most of her life and even in her college
days at the University of Nebraska Lincoln, she had a haircut much like mine. One
fact that is very impressive about Willa Cather is that she lived this life of manhood
during a time when that was extremely taboo. During the time Willa Cather grew up,
men were the dominant ones that could do anything they please. The fact that Willa
Cather broke through that stigma is inspiring to me, even as a male in the 21st
century. I am confident in saying that Willa Cather wrote very strong women
characters, because she wanted to show the women of the time that anything is
possible. While winning a Pulitzer Prize and writing many best selling books, I
believe she accomplished that challenge very well.
My first quote gives us our very first physical description of the main character
Alexandra She wore a man s long ulster (not as if it were an affliction,

Sepsis is a potentially fatal medical condition where the blood is overwhelmed by the
presence of bacteria; activating the immune response and potentially causing organ
dysfunction due to the disruption of homeostasis, tissue perfusion and limited oxygen
supply. Systemic inflammatory response syndrome can be a key to the recognition of
the illness. This condition can be treated with antibiotics intravenously or by draining
the infected fluid. However, treating the infection with appropriate anti microbial
medication does not always cure the illness. Understanding the activation of

It inhibits thrombosis by inactivating co factors Va, and VIIIa (Neyrinck, 2009).
When deficient, Factor V can cause excessive blood clotting and Factor VIII, being
an essential clotting factor, can cause blood to profusely move out of tissues once
cut or damaged (Faust, 2001 and Yan, 2001). Thrombin may become limited, one
reason being the decrease of plasma D dimer, which again stimulates fibrinolysis
(Bernard, 2001).
Animal models have been used to test the effectiveness of Protein C as a treatment for
severe sepsis; one example is an experiment carried out to investigate the coagulation
effects of Protein C which was tested using baboons (Taylor FB, 1987). Studies of this
type have initiated the development of recombinant human protein C; the activated
form also termed drotrecogin alfa (activated).
A variety of variables are considered throughout the research of many experiments
in investigating whether Protein C is a beneficial treatment of severe sepsis.
Animal models, specifically sheep, were used to observe the clinical significance of
APC in the work of Wang.Z et al. The results indicate the beneficial consequence of
APC on gaseous exchange and lactic acidosis; a considerably higher arterial pressure
is observed, as well as, higher thoracopulmonary compliance and PaO2/FIO2

Discuss the techniques Harper Lee uses in Chapter 15 to create
Tension.
This essay will a brief explanation on how Harper Lee creates tension.
I will also show the different techniques Lee used to show tension such, as action,
speech and description.
Tension can be when there is a friction between two or more parties.
This could be when nobody knows what to say to each other, like meeting for the
first time, creating a nervous atmosphere. Tension can also be when someone is
stressed or anxious about something that has just happened or is going to happen,
like an exam in school. Being put in an awkward situation, such as being in the

Jem and Scout know that something is wrong, otherwise he wouldn t have sent them
back inside. They start to worry about Atticus. They know something is about to
happen, they can t do anything about. This is an apprehensive form of tension, when
someone is worried by something that is going to happen.
Secondly, when Atticus returns to the house after his confrontation with Heck Tate
and the others, the atmosphere is tense because Scout and Jem want to know what
happened outside. They were going to get you, weren t they? . This adds to the
tension of the moment, because
Atticus wouldn t know how to respond to that.
Another example of a tense situation, is when Atticus takes his car out late at night.
Because Atticus never drives apart from business trips, Jem and Scout feel an
uneasiness as to why he d take the car late at night and not tell them. They sense
something is wrong. Their tension grows until they have to follow him.
Furthermore, tension occurs when Atticus goes to local prison to help protect Toms
cell. The mob order him out of the way so they can they can take Tom away to
another jail. This is a tense situation because neither Atticus nor the mob want a
fight, so each is waiting to see what the other will do, so this creates a tense stand
off, as they are both poised to make a move.
Finally, after following Atticus to the jail, Scout

  • 2. Essay on Investigating the Effect of Alcohol on Heartbeat... Investigating the Effect of Alcohol on Heartbeat of Daphnia Daphnia are the organisms that are involved in this experiment to find out what effect alcohol has on their heartbeat. It is easy to study the effects of alcohol on the heart of Daphnia as the organ can be easily seen through the transparent body of Daphnia. The number of heartbeats may be counted before submersion in alcohol and after submersion in alcohol to investigate the effect of alcohol. Daphnia belong to the Phylum Arthropoda and are Branchiopoda which belong to the class, Crustacea. Daphnia are invertebrates and also have an exoskeleton, jointed appendages, a dorsal heart and open blood system. The effect of alcohol on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This can also be related to Daphnia in the same way. Therefore I predict that as the concentration of alcohol surrounding the Daphnia increases the greater the percentage decrease of heartbeat. ABSTRACT The aim of the investigation was to find out the effect of alcohol on the heart rate of Daphnia. My hypothesis was, as the concentration of alcohol increases the lower the heartbeat of the Daphnia will fall. To test my prediction I carried out 25 individual experiments which were all carried out using the same procedure but varying the alcohol concentration of the solution. To investigate how alcohol concentration affects the heartbeat of Daphnia I recorded the heartbeat of 25 Daphnia for a period of 7 minutes. This included 1 minute before submersion in alcohol, 3 minutes during submersion in alcohol and 3 minutes after submersion in alcohol. I then found the percentage decrease of the heartbeat of the Daphnia from the resting heart rate. At the highest concentration of ethanol solution, 1x10 1gcm 3 the greatest percentage decrease of heart rate was 86.5%. The results in general show that increasing the concentration of alcohol decreases the heartbeat of the Daphnia lower. METHOD Before starting the practical part of the investigation the different concentrations of alcohol that
  • 3. Lady Macbeth as the Real Driving Force Behind the Murder... Lady Macbeth as the Real Driving Force Behind the Murder of King Duncan Even though Macbeth is actually the murderer of King Duncan, It appears that he commits this murder reluctantly and should not be blamed for the murder or bear the full responsibility of the murder. The three witches and Lady Macbethactually played significant roles in cajoling Macbeth into committing the murder and could be argued that Lady Macbeth is the real driving force behind the murder of King Duncan. Witchcraft was a strong influence in Shakespeare s time. People believed in the power of witches and their powers were widely recognised by everyone. The play Macbeth was written as a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The points stated above helps to highlight the roles played by the witches in the murder of King Duncan. Most people also believe that Macbeth is responsible for the murder of King Duncan. Macbeth actually murders King Duncan, this makes him directly involved in the murder but it can be argued that he was lured by Lady Macbeth and conned by the witches into committing this murder. Lady Macbeth reads the letter from Macbeth informing Her of His encounter with the witches and Lady Macbeth feels Macbeth will be incapable of the murder as she says Glamis thou art, and Cawdor; and shalt be What thou art promis d. Yet do I fear thy nature; It is too full o the milk of human kindness. Lady Macbeth s soliloquy in Act1 Scene5 shows that Lady Macbeth intends to persuade Macbeth into killing the king Hie thee hither, That I may pour my spirits in thine ear, And chastise with the valour of my tongue All that impedes thee from the golden round, When Macbeth entered, he was persuaded by Lady Macbeth to commit the murder and this actually made him over ambitious. Macbeth is intrigued by the witches predictions and is keen on knowing more. He thinks of the possibility of becoming

  • 5. Disneyland Motivation Statement The reason why I am interested in developing a career with Hong Kong Disneyland is that Disneyland is one of the famous theme park in the world. I believe working in Disneyland can broaden my horizon and expand my social network. Most importantly, Hong Kong Disneyland has the passion to become the best theme park. As a newspaper reports, Hong Kong Disneyland will launch an expansion plan, including building new theme areas and new amusement facilities for Marvel Super heroes. With this new theme areas and new amusement facilities, I believe Hong Kong Disneyland will obtain great support in Chinese market. Also, I think Hong Kong Disneyland will become more attractive and famous in the future since the Disneyland company has owned the 21st century fox. By owning the 21st century fox, Disneyland company has the copyright of many new characters, which makes Hong Kong Disneyland able to build more theme areas, such as deadpool s theme area, alien s theme area, or x men s theme area. • 6. Leon Festinger s Theory Of Cognitive Dissonance This essay will evaluate the presentation of Leon Festinger s theory of cognitive dissonance in the world of social psychology. Throughout I will discuss the establishment of his theory, it s supporting evidence and any limitations of this. I will also deliberate what it can explain and the alternative explanations presented by other psychologists; how they differ from Festinger s, how they add to Festinger s original theory and finally how they extend the knowledge in understanding the interaction between thoughts and actions to question the position of rivalry over cohesion between them all. The theory of cognitive dissonance was introduced by Leon Festinger in 1957, a time where many claimed social psychology had lost the social aspect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is regarded as a counterintuitive social theory as it implied that actions influenced attitudes as opposed to the alternative notion, once seen as the more reasonable, (Miller J. L., 2012). His theory of cognitive dissonance is still referenced today in numerous credible and published work either in support of the theory or to suggest revisions, (Dember Jenkins, 1970) cited from Cognitive Dissonance Theory (n.d.), revealing a lasting impact. Social psychologist Herbert C. Kelman (1953) first investigated cognitive dissonance through the consequences of forced compliance and hypothesised the opposite of his data findings, which revealed that counter attitudinal advocacy occurred more often in low reward circumstances in comparison to higher reward. Festinger and James M. Carlsmith (1959), similarly followed to find supporting evidence of the cognitive dissonance theory. They conducted an experiment in the U.S. concerning the cognitive consequence of forced compliance and found similar results. The study involved 71 male participants where they were given two monotonous tasks of filling a tray and turning 48 pegs clockwise, both with one hand and for half an hour each. The participants where split into groups, where one received one dollar for their time and the other received twenty dollars. Both low reward and high reward groups where then asked to recommend the experiment to future participants, who were secretly confederates.
  • 7. Consumer And Consumer Self Identity 1.0Introduction Consumer researchers have recognized that people consume in ways that are consistent with their sense of self (Sirgy, 1982). Consumption is not only a tool to obtain the value of goods and display social status, but also is closely related to self identity. In the consumer culture, customers no longer just shop because of their needs. The desire of individual s self development and self taught continue to stimulate the consumption. People change themselves as much as possible by buying new goods. In answer to the problem what kind of person he is , people not only judge other people according to a virtue or quality of the individual, but tend to be based on personal lifestyle or behavior consistent with specific groups. ... It is important for marketers to understand the concept and dynamics of self, the meaning of goods then they could use this link to advert better (Elliott Wattanasuwan, 1998). 3.0 The importance of advertising In the increasingly competitive market, people pay more attention to the development of brand image. Meenaghan (1995) stated that advertising is considered to be an important marketing tool. It informs consumers of the product information and it is a popular and effective way to communicate with their customers. Companies could attract target groups through advertising. Advertising are largely based on defining the desires and dreams of the consumers so it do not attempt to manipulate consumers, but rather the symbolic meanings which are attached to the products. When a company launches advertising, its goal is to promote consumption and increase market sales. Abideen and Saleem (2011) stated that advertising promotes product awareness in the minds of all the potential and target consumers and as such playing a huge role in influencing the consumer purchasing decision. Therefore, many companies choose to make the advertising to attract the customers. These companies also use consumer s self identity concept to advert and let the customers know the products could satisfy their self identity. There are three different advertisements below. 3.1 Chanel The first advertising that is
  • 8. Effectiveness Of Stylistics On The Reader. Stylistics Are Effectiveness of Stylistics on the Reader Stylistics are used in writing to set various pieces of literature apart, while also determining the effectiveness said literature has on the reader. The novels Such is My Beloved and By Grand Central Station I Sat Down and Wept both involve the concepts of sex and religion, but are each enjoyed by different groups of readers, Factors that highlight these differences include the point of view which story is told from, the word choice by the author, and the stylethe novel is written with. Such is My Beloved is enjoyed by more readers due to its following of a traditional form of writing, use of simplistic direct language, and a higher use of personal words and sentences than found in By Grand... This is apparent in the scene where the main character is being questioned at the border and a guard states, Better not try any funny business...you re only making this tough on yourself. (Smart, 48) Instead of responding to the guard, she answers in her mind which only the reader can comprehend stating, Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth. (Smart, 48)This shifting mental state of the main character is quite unique while also creating a need for a higher degree of focus by the audience to stay on track with the plot. The dictation used in Such is my Beloved is quite simplistic solidifying further the ease of read the story has. Callaghan uses short, concise sentences to move the story forward while providing the reader with a well detailed recounting of events. The passage examined in this paper captures the dialogue heavy nature of the story and some of the more heavy narrative portions the story has to offer. An interesting point is that 32% of the words found on pages 121 122 contain the same fifteen words. (Chart 1) The word choice by Callaghan was rated by The Reading Level Skill algorithm to be at a 11 12 grade level. (wordcounter.net) This solidifies an argument that this story is written to reach many people as it uses a less advanced dictionary than many other works. Surprisingly similar in dictation to Callaghan s passage is the entry from By Grand Central Station I Sat Down and Wept, which although written
  • 9. Essay on Mythological Gender Profiling and the Women of... Mythological Gender Profiling and the Women of Greece In the myths of the Centauromachy and the Amazonomachy, the Greeks found a manuscript for moral and disciplinary guidance in their dealings with the women of the time. By assigning the women of Greece hybris, Greek men targeted the women of Greece to intense programs of subjugation and social retribution in order to prevent the emergence of Centaurian or Amazonian traits, which would destroy the patriarchal nature of Archaic Greek culture. Generally, Greek myths tend to exemplify gender profiling as a way to polarize the sexes in order to maintain a stable and workable patriarchy. This is evidenced in the Centauromachy and Amazonomachy, which identify undesirable and inherent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Greeks were absolutely concerned with the values of social custom and social order. The idea of moira, the station a person or group is assigned to in life was a staple belief and the backbone of Greek culture. Throughout Castriota s text, there are comparisons that allude to a relationship between the Greek s views of the Centaurian s hybris and the qualities possessed by the women of Hellenistic culture. This comparison will become important in analyzing the usefulness of the myth as a means for gender profiling and societal management. Closely related to the hybris of the Centaurs, are the qualities associated with the young women of the time. By relating the female gender to the Centauromachy, Greeks identified women as a societal weakness. Castriota states three times, that male characters referred to the rising of the women as hybris. Clearly, the Greeks have given women equine characteristics. According to Castriota, young women were called polos, young mare or filly . The mere implication that women, as a gender, contained in them the wildness and hybris of the horse was closely reflected in the myth of the Centauromachy. This is a form of gender profiling, which placed women in a position of weakness as to their potential contribution to Greek society. This weakness, as in a military regime, would have to be monitored and controlled tightly in order to minimize damage done to contemporary Greek society. The
  • 10. The Effects Climate Change Has on Agriculture and Livestock Climate change is one of the major issues surfacing earth over the past century. The earth s temperature has increased over the years; having effects on the economic and life sources of people, especially through agricultural production and livestock s. According to the Oxford dictionary, climate change is a change in global climate patterns apparent from the mid late 20th century. There are numerous factors that are solely responsible for this change which are both natural and man made causes. Climate changehas led to a decrease in quality and quantity of plant produce and livestock as a result of heat stress, drought and an increase in diseases. According to Health and Safety executive, HSE, UK, heat stress is a component of climate change that causes the body temperature to fail , and is a global problem which affects agriculture and livestock. The effect of heat stress on Livestock s has become greater for animals such as dairy cows and beef cattle. When animals are under distress due to temperature rise, they usually cut back on their feeding practices; have a rise in body temperature and faces weight loss. Milk production, milk fat, protein content and the progression of breeding has been also affected, especially in dairy cows. When heat stress occurs, dairy cows tend to reduce the intake of dry matter in order to control their heat production from increasing through the process of metabolism and digestion (M. • 11. Summary Of Appiah s Death Of The Duel In the first half of Death of the Duel, Appiah begins by providing the details of a duel between two prominent British government officials, using the specific example as a jumping point to discuss the general idea of dueling. The form of honor being represented in this case is that of reputation and the maintenance of regard from the general public. This concept of honor as a form of social standing is interesting because it subverts Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs and many other psychological theories that try to map out human instinct which places safety and security in higher regard than it does esteem or ego. In the case of the duel, honor is considered the highest human need, even above life itself if one considers the death toll, although that mainly applies to the aristocratic class, who had most of their basic needs taken care of already. In the case of dueling, the society at the time seemed to conflate the ideas of respect and honor, assuming that the characteristic of honorability automatically entitled one to respect from peers and lower classes. Appiah, however, distinguishes the two by noting that honor is the individual... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While Appiah believes there is only pride in doing things out of the ordinary, I believe that it also takes courage and honor to follow honor codes in everyday circumstances. Being honorable is difficult sin a world where honorable behavior, contrary to Appiah s belief, is not actually standard behavior. For example, a student witnesses two bullies harassing another student and steps in to stop them. While this might be fairly standard honorable behavior, that does not mean the student shouldn t feel proud of their actions and the courage they took. During high school Christopher informed his parents that he would no longer accept any gifts from them because they might begin to believe they bought his respect (Krakauer 21). Christopher had a strong dislike for wealth, but not wealth itself, what wealth did to people. He believed that it gave people a false sense of power and security. These people with wealth would then try to buy control, happiness, and truth. In Christopher s eyes the concept of wealth having any power was distorted. Another manifestation of McCandless search for empowerment was his experience of mental and physical hardships. During high school the training for cross country was very strenuous, not only did Chris view it as physical exercise, but spiritual as well(website .info). Also, the summer before freshman year Christopher decided to take a rode trip. When Chris eventually returned home, he revealed that he had just about died from dehydration in the Mojave Desert (Sexton cliffsnotes). Although his parents tried to prohibit him from attempting a trip like this again, it failed. Chris viewed himself to be invincible, just like a teenager that feels indomitable. Water samples from above the Mount Morgan mine site and below the Mount Morgan mine site were also compared. 8.1Analysis of the Data It was hypothesised that the water sample from above the mine site would be of better water quality than the sample from below the mine site. It was found that this was, in fact, the case. As seen in Table 7.2, the above sample had lower acidity, hardness and conductivity than the below sample. Given that acidity is indicated by a pH of below 7, the below mine water sample was considered acidic, at a pH of 4.92. Conversely, the above mine site sample had a pH of 7.35, indicating an almost neutral profile. The above mine sample had a conductivity of 2200 ВµS/cm, whereas the below mine sample had a conductivity of 7500 ВµS/cm. This suggests that there are a significantly greater number of ions in solution in below mine water than above mine water. The below mine sample also had greater water hardness, with a calcium ion concentration of 5183.29 mg/L, compared with the above mine sample s hardness of only 115.02 mg/L. The above mine water mostly exhibited water quality parameter values that aligned with the water quality guidelines for fresh water. With an almost neutral pH of 7.35, meaning it is within the recommended pH range of 6.8 9.5 and is also safe for consumption. The hardness (concentration of calcium ions) of 115.02 mg/L also lies

The man cried as he ran to the outstretched arms of his family. Ebon smiled as a deep sense of satisfaction washed over him. He then turned and pushed his way to the back of the crowd. He stood aghast at what he saw. The two Dark Wizards that had killed Eldon were fighting each other! The boy had drawn his sword and was hurling spheres of green light at the girl. The girl tried hard to deflect all of them with her sword. Dark Wizards could not do shield spells. The boy grabbed his sword with his other hand and pulled it apart. It split into two swords! Ybarra (2013) described the problem within the TSA as an, agency that establishes transportation security policy and regulates those that provide transportation operations and infrastructure (airlines, airports, railroads, transit systems, etc.). But on the other hand, TSA itself is the operator of the largest component of airport security: passenger and baggage screening. The conflict of interest for the TSA lies in the screening of passengers and baggage. The airport has responsibility for all other phases of security, such as, access control, perimeter control, lobby control. The airport is responsible for these things but standards are upheld under TSA supervision. However, for the screening of persons and objects the TSA conducts the screening and regulates itself. Due to these pressures, both were required to make alterations to the systems in place, such as that of politics and economics. However the natures of their crisis were different and therefore the subsequent modifications varied and were, in many cases, controversial. However Witte recognized the importance of having a vast and interconnecting infrastructure and pushed the building of tracks within Russia. He multiplied the amount of track laid by twenty. This provided many opportunities for Russia; she was able to transport people from the desolate countryside towards the city as well as transporting goods to other nations. The increase in trade allowed for the accumulation of foreign currency and thus granted Russia access to purchasing foreign equipment for industrialization. When the epiglottis is not covering the opening to the lungs air may pass freely into and out of the trachea. The trachea sometimes called the windpipe branches into two bronchi, which in turn lead to a lung. Once in the lung the bronchi branch many times into smaller bronchioles, which eventually terminate in small sacs called alveoli. It is in the alveoli that the actual transfer of oxygen to the blood takes place. The alveoli are shaped like inflated sacs and exchange gas through a membrane. The passage of oxygen into the blood and carbon dioxide out of the blood is dependent on three major factors: 1) the partial pressure of the gases, 2) the area of the pulmonary surface, and 3) the thickness of the membrane (Gerking, 1969). The membranes in the alveoli provide large surface areas for the free exchange of gasses. The typical thickness of the pulmonary membrane is less than the thickness of a red blood cell. The pulmonary surface and the thickness of the alveolar membranes are not directly affected related to altitude and affects gas transfer in the alveoli. The majority of the data came from voluntary reports of legal abortions to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). When doing business internationally, it is important to consider how businesses operate within their culture. In western societies such as our own, businesses tend to be deal focused where people are more task oriented. Independence and personal initiative characterize U.S. communication style because the U.S. work culture is very outcome oriented (Martinez Carter). Saudi Arabia, on the contrary, follows a relationship focus culture, where people put dealings with friends ahead of business dealings. In Saudi Arabia they are part of a family centered society where trust of others is highly correlated with the degree of familiarity with them (Daniels 48). It is uncommon for businesses here to take a long time to decide if they will partake in a business transaction. Patience is important when conducting business in Saudi Arabia since decisions are made slowly and in a bureaucratic manner (McLaughlin). Although this film highlights two Jesuit priests, Father Sebastian Rodrigues and Father Francisco Garupe, there is an interesting contrasting devotion from the Inquisition to Buddhism. The priests go to great lengths to find a third priest, Father Cristovao Ferreira, who has gone missing while operating as a missionary. Father Ferreira ends up getting captured, recants his faith, and sides with the Inquisition, helping them investigate objects hidden as Christian relics. There are many applicable ideas relating to religious fundamentalismwithin the film. Sigmund Freud and William James differ on the explanation of religious experience. James focuses on religion as feelings and experiences of an individual. For the most part the religious experience is felt instead of a concept. James also believes that religion is not linear or homogenous. There are different perceptions or involvement one has with their faith. A great example of contrasting persons within their religious experiences in the film, Silence, is Father Rodrigues and Yosulu Kubozuka (Kichijiro). Recent Obstacles and Barriers to Voting In this essay, I would like to discuss the major obstacles to voting, recent changes to overcome voting barriers and the political influence of changed rules. Low turnout in the U.S. reflects that there are obstacles for people to voting and changes to overcome these obstacles may also bring new problems to different social groups. I will elaborate on these aspects in the following parts. Obstacles to voting and the absent voting of pure independents are the reason of low turnout in the U.S. today, which may also have great influence both politically and legally. The voter turnoutis the percentage of qualified voters who actually go to an electionto cast a ballot. Overall, the voter turnout in America is low, with only between 51 and 57 percent of eligible voters going to polls in presidential electionsfrom 2004 to 2012. The reason why America has such a low turnout is because of several obstacles in voting. The U.S. do not provide paid holiday for voters who are workers to vote or well structured politics for different racial voters, other obstacles like advanced registration and absentee voting also make the voting more difficult for voters. The pure independents, who are unlike independent leaners or behaviour independents, are less well informed and less care about the election information and also definitely less likely to vote on the Election Day, they do not have any preference for any candidates or parties. • 26. U.s. Patent Law And United States Essay In the United States, both U.S. Patent Law and U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) law govern the exclusivity rights for new pharmaceutical products. As Chinese companies invest research time and money in developing new drugs, it is important to keep in mind both the relevant U.S. patent law and the applicable FDA law that could affect the exclusivity period for that drug in the United States. Mistakes in not obtaining proper patentcoverage or satisfying the FDA laws could cost the drug company valuable exclusivity rights when that drug is sold in the United States. For a successful drug, the lost of exclusivity rights usually means the loss of substantial revenue and profit. How can a drug innovator have exclusivity in the United States without a patent? The FDA will give a five year exclusivity period for a new chemical entity (NCE) used in a drug. What does this mean? During this five year exclusivity period, no other company can submit an Abbreviated New Drug Application(ANDA) to the FDA seeking approval of a drug product containing the NCE. This exclusivity period rewards the innovator for all of the research and development effort, including expensive clinical tests to show the safety and efficacy of the NCE that must be done to support a New Drug Application (NDA). The five year exclusivity period allows the NDA holder to recoup this investment. Importantly, this exclusivity occurs regardless of whether or not a U.S. patent has been issued. An ANDA

Ian Guild, Senior Advisor, Forfeiting Syndications Group, Standard Bank, the cell was being set up after a series of meetings with the bank, and is essentially aimed at spreading the message of Forfeiting as an effective trade financing mechanism to increase exports. Suggesting that forfeiting was the ideal springboard for effecting a quantum jump in exports in the medium term, Mr. Guild said he was confident of aggregating forfeiting business of $100 millions in 1998 and $250 millions in 1999 in the country. Since its introduction in 1992, Exim Bank had facilitated 69 forfeiting transactions valued at around $75 millions, with credit periods ranging between 90 days and seven years, and covering the export of goods ranging from textiles to plant and machinery. The RBI has now permitted all commercial banks to act as facilitators for forfeiting transactions. Mr. Guild pointed out that forfeiting has not really taken off in India because exporters and commercial banks lacked the knowledge of the mechanics of the scheme. In India, the real challenge would be to motivate small and medium exporters to use the forfeiting route for exports to countries which may not be able to buy on cash terms. Mr. S. Bhattacharya, deputy general manager, Exim Bank, Calcutta, said: Payment defaults by overseas
  • 34. The Importance of Literacy Programs in Education Abstract This research paper is intended to gather information on the subject of the practice implemented for reading and writing in primary level. However, the research paper continues to evolve to meet the needs of a world marked by continuous change or effective action. Crafted from the primary level literacy course, this broad in scope and thoroughly concerned with concrete problems or data rather than with fundamental principles text continues to cover the information needed by both new and experienced teachers in order to teach effective literacy in the primary level, thereby following this with the specific strategies to use in the classroom to develop successful teenage or primary readers and writers. For any teacher to be able to pass on sound knowledge of education to their scholars irrespective of the race or language of instruction they must have a pattern of teaching and monitor the progress of the students. The teachers must have a one on one or intimate teaching relationship with their scholars for them to have sound understanding on how to carry out their teaching pattern. Once the teacher is familiar with the scholars, depending on their level of knowledge, the introduction of phonetics and vowels and how to make up words through, speaking, reading and listening will be the basic teaching pattern (Richards Rodgers 2001, p.21). The language of instruction must be put into consideration since most of the scholars are classified as international students. They have to be instructed in a clear and loud voice and every word or assignment being taught has to be repeated before and after writing it down on the blackboard (Richards Rodgers, 2001, p.11). On achieving this, great emphasis will be laid on the introduction of the different parts of speech or structuring of grammar and rhetoric (e.g. phrases, clauses and sentences) which will help the students build up on how to make sentences and where to
  • 35. Comparing Feste s Use Of Polysemy And Homonymy Wordplay is an important and frequently used component of Shakespeare s written works. Aside from being a common approach by other Elizabethan writers, the puns have been used to provide comic relief, to build up tension, to provoke thoughts, and to clarify or explain. More than once do the puns either create a clear picture of the emotions in the scene or furthermore allow the audience to develop their own thoughts about what is truly occurring. Pure lexical ambiguity derives mainly from two sources: polysemy and homonymy (Su 1994: 32), and as inferred from Cabanillas (1999: 31 36), those two are the starting point for nearly all of the prevalent and mentioned kinds of puns. There is a fine line between the two: Polysemy refers to the coexistence... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Eats not the flats with more impetuous haste is quoted from Shakespeare. And as M.Mahood commented on the particular line: The Messenger in Hamlet likens Laertes invasion of the palace to the ocean s inpittious haste because he is both impetuous and pitiless to those who bar his way (1988: 16) the blending definitions of acting without care and cruelness work as suggestions that lead to the word haste and also provide an insight into the character s personality. In Act I Scene III of Julius Caesar, I met a lion/ who glazed upon me ambiguously indicates whether the lion s fixed look is of admiration and eager or its counterpart of intense and angry

Many, but not all of the criminal law rights apply to the federal government and all state governments. For example, the Fourth Amendment prevents not only federal officers, but also their state officers, from carrying out unreasonable searches and seizures. in addition to this it also prohibits the unreasonable search and seizure ban ,the prohibition against double jeopardy the privilege against self incrimination, the right to a speedy and public jury trial. It states that no person shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process of law. In other words due process is the legal requirement that the state must respect all the legal rights that are owed to a person. (page

William Blakewas born in London in 1757. He didn t start as a writer but as an artist known as engraver. As Professor Mahoney said, he was born innocent and would make people depraved. According to Monroe, Blake would see a tree filled with angels, bright angelic wings, bespangling every bough like stars (3). His parents weren t amazed of what he would see because of that his mother decided to homeschool him for his own protection. She was scared that he would get bullied for what he would say. He had a lot of English writers criticizing his work. Monroe said, Alexander Gilchrist warned his readers that Blake, neither wrote nor drew for the many, hardly for work day men at all, rather for children and angeled; himself a divine

The Atomic Weight Of The Unknown Barium Carbonate In this lab experiment, an unknown metal carbonate went through a chemical reaction with 1.0 M barium chloride, forming products of barium carbonate and an alkali metal chloride. The unknown alkali metal carbonate also went through a chemical reaction with 1 M hydrochloric acid, forming an alkali metal chloride, with liquid water, and carbon dioxidegas as products. A final flame test was done to reveal what the unknown alkali metal was. Once all molar masses were calculated, the masses were extremely varied, ranging from 37.061 grams per mol to 133.110 grams per mol. When the flame test was performed, yellow orange colored flames appeared, revealing that the unknown alkali metal carbonate was sodium carbonate. The purpose of this experiment was to use different type of tests to determine the atomic weight for the unknown alkali metal carbonate along with determining which alkali metal it is. The first test consisted of reacting the aqueous metal carbonate with barium chloride in a precipitation reaction [1 M2(CO3) + 1 BaCl2 в†’ 1 Ba(CO3) + 2 MCl]. The product of this reaction is barium carbonate, which is isolated and later weighed by using filter paper and a Buchner funnel with vacuum filtration. When weighed, the barium carbonate can be converted to moles of the unknown carbonate and grams per mol of the unknown alkali metal carbonate can be calculated. The second reaction consisted of reacting the unknown carbonate (a base) with hydrochloric acid (an acid) to form
  • 40. The Community Treatment Orders ( Cto ) The introduction of Community Treatment Orders (CTO) has raised much debate around the issue of whether this is an ethical practice or not. This debate calls for a number of questions to be answered. For starters, can unethical practice be justified if it is for the greater good? More specifically, should the elimination of individuals rights be accepted if success is to be achieved from these programs. In order to gain insight into answering these questions, Community Treatment Orders need to be defined first. According to the Mental HealthAct , a Community Treatment Order sets out terms under which a person must accept psychiatric drugs, therapy, and other services while living in the community (Mental Health Act 2007). CTO s include... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By doing so, they are given the opportunity for social inclusion and to be part of a community (Lawson Smith et al, 2008). In addition, the fact that they are still in operation today supports the idea that change is needed in society. From a political perspective, they are enforced by governments in order to help those who are most vulnerable, to remedy discrimination, and protect the general public (Russell, 2011). As wholehearted as these goals may be in theory, the fact remains that the intended results are not being achieved and civil liberties are being infringed upon. Those opposing the use of CTO s are influenced by three reasons to support their position. The first reason deals with the current evidence base. For starters, international research literature has found no strong evidence on the positive or negative effects of CTO s on three key outcomes. These outcomes are hospital readmissions, length of hospital stay, and patients quality of life (Lawton Smith et al, 2008) Furthermore, a 36 month study of 198 patients concluded that CTO s do not prevent relapse and readmission of psychiatric inmates with severe and enduring mental illnesses . The study showed that results were in line with the current national use (Rugkasa, Yeeles, Koshiaris, Burns, 2016). Analysis of these results shows that there is no compelling reason for CTO s to continue to exists, given the lack of improvement that they provide. The use of CTO s is

  • 43. The Effect Of Insufficient Production Of Dystrophin The contractile unit of a muscle cell is the sarcomere. Sarcomeres are mostly comprised of actin and myosin which pull and slide upon each other. These contractile units are linked end to end, like a chain, throughout the length of any given muscle. Certain proteins link the ends of these chains to the cell membrane. When a normally healthy individual exercises, some of these fibers, both in the sarcomere and at the connections to the cell wall, will be broken down due to damage (Leyva, 2013). Associated with this process includes the rebuilding of these fibers, in which the body builds back what was damaged stronger than before the damage occurred (Leyva, 2013). One of these end proteins is dystrophin. The purpose of this paper is to explore the implications of insufficient production of dystrophin, as in DMD. Pathology Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) is an X linked genetic disorder in which muscle cells do not reproduce dystrophin. This means that during the rebuilding of new muscle, the muscles of those individuals who have MD do not appropriately repair and rebuild the fibers containing dystrophin. In essence, it is similar to a minor tendon tear on a microscopic level happening on the inside of the muscle. Due to this dysfunctional rebuilding of these connective components, there is an even greater discrepancy between the amount of force the sarcomeres can produce and the amount of force the fibers which connect to the cell membrane can withstand. This causes more

The society of Salem that Miller creates in The Crucible shows how fearcan slowly cause rational thoughtto deteriorate, leading to mass hysteriaand eventually the breakdown of civilized behavior. Once the people of Salem fully realize their fear, Miller shows how they try to justify this fear, but that they are in fact becoming more and more hysterical. They now try to find a justification for thoughts and their fear of evil. They need some solid proof to back up these accusations that they make, and they need to clear their own names as well. So, they arbitrarily start claiming that [they] saw...with the Devil , and that [they] saw...with the Devil (45). These unjustified explanations for their fears just shows how truly corrupted their minds become. They start naming their own friends, neighbors, and even their own family in order to clear themselves and more importantly to try to prove that this witchery is really upon them, and to prove that they are not just crazy. What it really does is show how hysteria is setting in, and how they have actually accepted these lies as the truth. While questioning each other on the matter, their breakdown can really be seen through their quick, almost sputtering manner of speaking: Hale: Did you call the Devil last night? Abigail: I never called him! Parris: She called the Devil? Abigail: I didn t see no Devil! Hale: You cannot evade me...(40) This pace at which they speak proves how they have no real justification, only that they can accuse someone and use that as proof. They speak in little fragments that can barely be considered

As we know, Willa Catherwas very open about her sexuality and her feelings towards women. She dressed like a man for most of her life and even in her college days at the University of Nebraska Lincoln, she had a haircut much like mine. One fact that is very impressive about Willa Cather is that she lived this life of manhood during a time when that was extremely taboo. Sepsis is a potentially fatal medical condition where the blood is overwhelmed by the presence of bacteria; activating the immune response and potentially causing organ dysfunction due to the disruption of homeostasis, tissue perfusion and limited oxygen supply. Systemic inflammatory response syndrome can be a key to the recognition of the illness. This condition can be treated with antibiotics intravenously or by draining the infected fluid. However, treating the infection with appropriate anti microbial medication does not always cure the illness. Understanding the activation of inflammation, coagulationand fibrinolysis in the pathophysiology of sepsis, has allowed further research and development of therapeutic agents in its clinical... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It inhibits thrombosis by inactivating co factors Va, and VIIIa (Neyrinck, 2009). When deficient, Factor V can cause excessive blood clotting and Factor VIII, being an essential clotting factor, can cause blood to profusely move out of tissues once cut or damaged (Faust, 2001 and Yan, 2001). Thrombin may become limited, one reason being the decrease of plasma D dimer, which again stimulates fibrinolysis (Bernard, 2001). Animal models have been used to test the effectiveness of Protein C as a treatment for severe sepsis; one example is an experiment carried out to investigate the coagulation effects of Protein C which was tested using baboons (Taylor FB, 1987). Studies of this type have initiated the development of recombinant human protein C; the activated form also termed drotrecogin alfa (activated). A variety of variables are considered throughout the research of many experiments in investigating whether Protein C is a beneficial treatment of severe sepsis. Animal models, specifically sheep, were used to observe the clinical significance of APC in the work of Wang.Z et al. The results indicate the beneficial consequence of APC on gaseous exchange and lactic acidosis; a considerably higher arterial pressure is observed, as well as, higher thoracopulmonary compliance and PaO2/FIO2

This essay will a brief explanation on how Harper Lee creates tension. I will also show the different techniques Lee used to show tension such, as action, speech and description. Tension can be when there is a friction between two or more parties. This could be when nobody knows what to say to each other, like meeting for the first time, creating a nervous atmosphere. Tension can also be when someone is stressed or anxious about something that has just happened or is going to happen, like an exam in school. Being put in an awkward situation, such as being in the middle of an argument, not knowing which way to turn or who s side to take, can put you under ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jem and Scout know that something is wrong, otherwise he wouldn t have sent them back inside. They start to worry about Atticus. They know something is about to happen, they can t do anything about. This is an apprehensive form of tension, when someone is worried by something that is going to happen. Secondly, when Atticus returns to the house after his confrontation with Heck Tate and the others, the atmosphere is tense because Scout and Jem want to know what happened outside. They were going to get you, weren t they? . This adds to the tension of the moment, because Atticus wouldn t know how to respond to that. Another example of a tense situation, is when Atticus takes his car out late at night. Because Atticus never drives apart from business trips, Jem and Scout feel an uneasiness as to why he d take the car late at night and not tell them. They sense something is wrong. Their tension grows until they have to follow him. Furthermore, tension occurs when Atticus goes to local prison to help protect Toms cell. The mob order him out of the way so they can they can take Tom away to another jail. This is a tense situation because neither Atticus nor the mob want a fight, so each is waiting to see what the other will do, so this creates a tense stand off, as they are both poised to make a move. Finally, after following Atticus to the jail, Scout
