Negative Consequences Of The Dust Bowl
I ve seen very often that some people seem to think their actions won t have any negative
consequences, or effect on anything around them. This can lead them to make decisions that have can
create major consequences for others and themselves, all for personal gain. This idea was widely acted
upon in the 1920 s, where so many people had not known that their actions would lead to, creating
The Great Depression. One of the more important Consequences was called the Dust Bowl. The Dust
Bowl was an event caused by the rise of farming in the 1920 s, which continues to affect the way we
grow our crops to this very day. The Dust Bowl was known as a large section of the US that was
covered in a large amount of powerful dust storms, which was caused by over excessive farming
during the 1920 s. Like many things during the time period, farming had started to become more and
more profitable. In fact, farming had been getting more profitable since WW1. However, this caused
people to become greedy. People would farm more and more land each year, in an effort to produce
better results. Farmers plowed away at field after field, unaware that anything negative would occur
from it. As said in the article The Dust Bowl on USHistory.com, What was unknown to these early
pioneers was that the grass and trees of the plains essentially nourished and held the soil in place with
their tough roots, (3). So when farmers would plow the land, they were disturbing what was keeping
all the land in

Kyle Craig and his Abuse on Adderall
Nearly five years ago, Kyle Craig, a well rounded and bright student at Vanderbilt University, took his
life at the young age of 21. Kyle was described to be a confident, but not arrogant young man. He had
a solid 3.5 grade point average and was extremely active in his fraternity. His parents said he was, ...a
thrill a minute, focused, happy, achieving and social (James). Kyle, in short, seemed to have it all
together. What no one knew is that Kyle illegally looked to Adderall to keep up his I ve got it all
together act. Adderall is a stimulant prescription drug for those with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity
Disorder, also known as ADHD (FDA). Kyle took Adderall illegally and abused it much too often just
to perform better academically and socially. While abusing the drug, Kyle slowly began spiraling into
a dangerous state of psychosis that no one seemed to catch on to. That dangerous spiral led Kyle all
the way in front of a train, taking his own life (James). Kyle is not the only young college student to
suffer from the effects of stimulant or amphetamine drugs like Adderall. Almost 1,000 cases of
psychosis were found to be linked to medications such as Adderall or Ritalin between the years 2000
and 2005 (FDA). Stimulant and Amphetamines are also known to heighten or produce suicidal and
depressive thoughts (FDA). With all of these unsettling facts, 1 in 5 college students abuse these drugs
and use them as study aids (CBN News). For the last

Political Campaign Is the Branding
How much of political campaigns is about Branding ?
Political Campaign is all about Branding. Before explaining how much of political campaign is about
Branding we should know this what is the political campaigns? Political advertising is a form of
campaigning used by political candidates to reach and influence voters .Political campaign is the use
of an advertising campaign through newspapers, radio commercials, television commercials and
Social media commercials etc. To influence the decision made for and by groups. These ads are
designed by political consultants and the political campaign staff. It can include several different
mediums and span several months over the course of a political campaign. Unlike campaign finance,

To bring the campaign alive, Brand Leadership developed and implemented a multi media campaign
including TV, radio, print, outdoor, internet, publications, public relations, events, road shows and
media training for key party spokespersons and leadership. The campaign was massively launched
with a rally at the National Theatre and broadcast live on major media running for eight months.
According to Thebe Ikalafeng, Brand Leadership s founder who led the campaign strategy and project,
Naturally we are excited that Brand Leadership was a part of a mutually satisfactory journey with the
NDC in Africa s foremost model of democracy. The campaign, as Barack Obama s campaign
demonstrated, clearly heralded the new era of political branding with its roots firmly in marketing,
branding and new media. It is always gratifying when one can show a causal effect between a
campaign and the results. We, as does the NDC, have no doubt, the clear, consistent and disciplined
campaign run by the NDC and its aligned activation contributed to victory in a very close but
nonetheless exciting and successful election .
For Brand Leadership, the success of the election in Ghana is a huge credential that will establish the
agency as a leading force in the use of marketing and brand strategy to drive political communication.
The agency can celebrate this achievement because the election broke all records in African politics

Michael Kors Competitors
My plan would be to develop a new activewear division for men within the Michael Kors collection
and brand. Activewear apparel is booming and the retail industry has seen an increase in sports

Roots of Anti-Semitism Essay
After learning about the Holocaust, I ve asked myself many times how this could have happened. Why
would anyone believe it s acceptable to massacre an entire people? This is my reasoning for writing
my paper on how Christian theology influenced anti Semitism. Much of the Holocaust appears to have
it s beginning with Christian theology. I will begin my paper with the early writings of Christians and
continue chronologically until after World War II.
The Apostle Paul was one the first people to criticize the Jewish people. At first, he tried to explain to
the Christians not to adopt a superior attitude towards the Jews.

quot; The Gospel of John contains some of the most hostile anti Jewish statement in the Christian
scriptures. So sharp is the contrast in that gospel between Jesus exhortations to his followers to love
one another and the hostile references to the Jews...John is a gospel of Christian love and Jew hatred.
quot; (Charlesworth)
Some examples of John s apparent sentiments towards the Jewish people include the following.
...THE JEWS REPLIED...[JOHN 18:31]
...MY FOLLOWERS WOULD BE FIGHTING TO KEEP ME FROM BEING HANDED OVER TO
THE JEWS...
[JOHN 18:36]
...HE WENT OUT TO THE JEWS AGAIN...[JOHN 18:38]
...THE JEWS ANSWERED HIM, quot;WE HAVE A LAW, AND ACCORDING TO THAT LAW HE
OUGHT TO DIE BECAUSE HE HAS CLAIMED TO BE THE SON OF GOD. quot; [JOHN 19:7]
...THE JEWS CRIED OUT, quot;IF YOU RELEASE THIS MAN, YOU ARE NO FRIEND OF THE

[JOHN 19:12]
...HE SAID TO THE JEWS, quot;HERE IS YOUR KING! quot; THEY CRIED OUT, quot;AWAY
WITH HIM! AWAY WITH HIM! CRUCIFY HIM!... quot;[JOHN 19:14]
Many scholars believe the Jews and Christians were still worshipping together around the middle of
the first century. They discussed and acknowledged their differences, like a family fight. Yet, towards
the end of the first century their relationships deteriorated. After the destruction of the second Temple
in 70 CE, the Gentiles appeared to break away from the Jews. Jewish leaders who

TKI Reflective Essay
The TKI Assessment allowed me to gain an honest understand of what my negotiation tendencies are
between competing, collaborating, compromising, avoiding, and accommodating. No single style is
the best to have or necessarily the right answer, but the assessment does help you understand your true
tendencies for dealing with a conflict. Knowing where you rank on this assessment is important for
knowing where your deficiencies and your strengths. This coincides with chapter five in learning what
type of negotiation style you use, when, and how you can improve your negotiation tactics arsenal.
The main lesson that I have learned from these activities is that relying too heavily on one negotiation
style is not appropriate because the same styles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is always a skill that I thought I could pride myself on, especially in the workplace, so seeing the
low score was a little tough for me once I completed the assessment. I was reluctant to admit that I am
not as apt to collaborate when I should as I thought I was. Upon reflection, I realized that I may not
necessarily be bad at collaboration but I may not realize when I should be using the skill. I have
always preferred to work alone, and I ve always known that about myself. I tend to believe that this is
a more efficient way to work most of the time, so when I take that into consideration it makes more
sense that my collaboration score would be lower. I may not have considered my preference for
working alone as a hindrance to my ability to collaborate when I should if I had not taken this
assessment. I now know, especially in a work setting, that I need to be more willing to take on
teamwork and seek the input of others on projects that I am working on. Doing so will allow me to

Using RFID Technology in the Transportation Sector
RFID or radio frequency identification is the name given to the technology that uses radio waves to
transmit data and uniquely identify an animal, person, or thing ( radio frequency identification, 2013).
An RFID system includes a transponder including an antenna and a chip that can easily store a
significant amount of data such as location details, manufacturer details and product numbers if any.
There are three basic types of the RFID readers. Fixed readers with an external antenna which are
often used at the entry points of the yards. Handheld readers are used by personnel moving through
the yards or the space. Then there are mobile readers which are set on the moving vehicles and
moving equipment for increasing accuracy and tracking the process ( Advantages of RFID in
Transportation and Logistics , 2011). In the current times, radio frequency identification technology
has upgraded from anonymity into applications that are rather used normally and as a consequence has
helped in the acceleration of manufactured materials handling (Want, 2006). There are several uses of
RFID in various sectors. However, this paper will only deal with its uses in the transportation sector
and how effectively this modern technology has helped in the growth of business and ease for people
all over the world. RFID technology has a number of applications in the domain of transportation
including electronic toll collection (ETC), electronic vehicle registration (EVR), automatic

Compare And Contrast The Renaissance And Reformation
Western civilization found its origins in the ancient world of Greece and Rome. Although these laid
the foundation for governmental, philosophical, and structural elements of the modern world, people s
day to day life remained the same. The Renaissance and Reformation transformed the mind of the
ancient man into the individualist of today. We will explore this transformation through three key
steps: the philosophy of the time, the condition of the Catholic Church, and finally, the cultures
response.
Art and humanism marked the core of the Renaissance. Together they changed at morphed society into
something different. The ancient world, and specifically the Middle Ages, kept the layman in poverty

analysis, the Catholic church seemed to mix earthly endeavors with heavenly standards. This
inconsistency tied Catholic rule and ideology together. When the lay people stood against the
authoritarian church, I had to stand against spiritualism as a whole. Thus marked the beginning of a
greater schism western civilization: the separation between the physical and the spiritual, thought and

Controlled Fire During The Paleolithic Period
Controlled Fire in the Paleolithic Period (2.6 million B.C. 10,000 B.C.)
The origins of controlled fire go back to the Paleolithic Period, by early humans some of the evidence
takes us all the way back to East Africa. The use of controlled fire was a big and important
development for these early humans, this tool could be handled in so many ways not only provided
them food but also shelter, and protection.
The development of controlled fire meant that food could be haunted and cooked immediately so meat
wouldn t rot. Because there were many hominids scared across the world controlled fire allowed them
to defrost frozen meat in cold regions, this provided a more sterilized as well as nutritious diet. It
could not only be used for meats ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Clothing was part of these new developments, prehistoric clothing consisted of fur, grass, leaves and
leather that were wrapped or tied to the body in order to protect from elements of the time.
Archeologist have seen objects like handmade needles that were used to sew these clothing s in order
to create different items to keep them warm and dry. A main disadvantage of most prehistoric clothing
was that the materials would deteriorate quite fast, later on the next generation of humans found
themselves creating more durable and wearable pieces of clothing. Neanderthals faced harsh climates
there were parts of Northern Asia and Europe that had series of Ice ages, because of this man had to
step up and create something to keep their body heat. With the creation of tools in order to hunt they
found themselves hunting deer, mammoths and bears which provided large, thick and furry coats for
them. At first their clothing tended to be simple by making holes in the head and arm area letting them
drape all over their bodies. Later on it can be seen that they grew more and more sophisticated by
creating strips to wrap their clothing in place sort of like belts.
After Neanderthals there came the invention of the tunics by the Cro Magnon people they mainly
consisted of skin from a given animal and it

Analysis On Historical Period Of Song Essay
Introduction:
October 29, 1929, also known as Black Tuesday, the day America economic status strengths change
for the worse. October 29, 1929 was declared Black Tuesday, as it was the day the stock market
crashed. The day America lost billions of dollars, $14 billion to be exact and by the end of 1932, $74
billion of wealth simply vanished (liberty, equality, power pg. 672). As a result, unemployment rate
increased as never before, 25 percent to be exact, according to US Statistic of Labor and this was just
the beginning of a new era. Below is a better understanding as how the great depression took place in
addition to how a simple song made broken Americans feel better.
II Analysis of Historical Period of Song:
During this difficult time, many Americans tried to balance with the transition of all the changes
happening caused by the great depression. Although for sure didn t characterize or yet represented all
the obstacles America were experiencing at the time, however, Brother, Can You Spare A Dime? hit
home for many Americans. Since the end of the year 1929, while the economy was descending, the
effects of it were noticed in many ways. From human distress, homelessness, starvation, and most
importantly, the loss of morale across the country. Brother, Can You Spare A Dime? made sense to
many, however. Individuals related the song to their suffering and desperation. People who had

The Banning Of Abortion In The United States
A sixteen year old cancer patient was denied her chemotherapy because it would mean she had abort
her baby. Twenty days after being admitted into the hospital the doctor finally started treatment.
Unfortunately it was too late. Rosa was thirteen weeks pregnant when she died and had a miscarriage
followed by cardiac arrest. If a mother s life is in danger and the doctor knows there is no way to save
the baby then they need to save the mother no matter what. A doctor has a responsibility to take care
of their patient and treat their patient to their specific needs (Swanson, Kara W). Although many
people believe that no one should have an abortion, some circumstances require an abortion due to the
health of the mother, physically, and mentally. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An average of 89,000 rape cases are reported annually, the United States is the sixth state with the
highest rape counts (Rape Statistics.). Women who are raped become emotionally, physically, and
sometimes mentally affected, and sometimes those women or young girls who are raped become
pregnant and seek abortion to help them in their unfortunate situation. Abortion is a choice that a
mother make and that choice stays with them forever (Brown, Kristi Burton). Abortion can also
mentally and physically harm not just the other but the baby also. There are three main ways a doctor
can do an abortion, partial birth abortion, dilation and evacuation, and saline abortion. When a doctor
completes a partial birth abortion they are sucking the brain out of the baby and killing them, when
dilation and evacuation is completed they take a sharp edged instrument and grasp the baby shredding
them to pieces. A Saline solution is just how it sounds, the fluids are replaced with saline and it kills
off the baby ( Unborn Babies Can Feel Pain. ). Some people can find this relieving that they are no
longer going to have their baby but the toll it can take on them really isn t worth it. Mothers who
decide to abort their baby can end up with more health risks emotionally and physically than a mother
who decides to just have the baby. Women who abort are two times more likely to become

Employment Advertisement And Employer Liability Over...
Employment Advertisement and Employer Liability over Employee Conduct, Unit 8 [Name]
[University] November __, 2016 MEMORANDUM Part I: Under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of
1964 and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act ( ADEA ) contains the rule based on defense of
bona fide occupational qualifications ( BFOQ ). Specifically, under ADEA, employer may not
advertise based on age preferences. (Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967). Using age
range or young boy, young girl, college student, or recent college graduate, will likely violate the
ADEA. (29 C.F.R. §1625.4(a)). However, employer can use BFOQ as a narrow exception defense
(Miller, 2013). For BFOQ defense, the employer must prove that (1) requirement was reasonably
necessary to the business; and (2) individualized approach is pointless or impracticable. (W. Air Lines
v. Criswell, 1985). Safety can be one of the legitimate reasons for BFOQ defense. (W. Air Lines v.
Criswell, 1985). Here, Petunia may argue that the advertisement violates ADEA, as the advertisement
itself had the words, youthful, and able to sport the clothing lines. On the other hand, CARDWARE
may defend that the advertisement does not discriminate employee hiring based on age as being able
to sport the clothing lines goes in hand with the slogan of CARDWARE, the Sporty One. Furthermore,
the slogan, You don t have to be an athlete to look and feel like one, has no indication of any age
discrimination. Also,

Describe Artificial Tools
Like organizing our closets we must from time to time clean out our makeup cabinets and make sure
what we have is still working for us. If you want flawless makeup and professional looking results you
must use the correct makeup tools. The right blush brush for example, will make it possible that your
blush gives you a perfect glow rather than a harsh streak or blob. Also, the right tools are necessary to
do the job correctly to define and conceal.
ESSENTIAL TOOLS:
Sponge: A sponge makes it possible to get into difficult spots and controls makeup application; used
correctly a sponge will give your foundation an even finish. A sponge is great for touch ups and is less
likely to pull on the skin. Buy them in bulk and change them often.
Brushes: A good blush brush is soft with bristles that are about 1 inches. Dont use the small, hard
brushes that come in compacts because it will be difficult to get a nice even finish. An eye shadow
brush should also be soft. Look for a lipstick brush that is retractable. It helps keep the brush clean and
in great shape. A blending brush should be about wide and will help blend the different color eye
shadows together to create a natural look. Use a brow brush to keep eyebrows under control and give

similar ideologies; to obtain eternal bless for ones self. Thus, the artists perceived this bless in their

Montaigne And St. Augustine s Confessions
Montaigne and St. Augustine s views of happiness and the self are both very compelling and
indicative of the times of which they were living. If both Montaigne and St. Augustine were to
converse today, it would be apparent that there would be a bit of clashing between their unique
methods of applying human logic to achieve a higher level of understanding of daily events and the
environment around them. St. Augustine uses a linear, dogmatic technique to emphasize one s sins
while still glorifying God, and Montaigne with a more fluid, skeptical, unbiased approach through
personal reflection. These two distinct ways of perceiving the self and higher order understanding are
apparent in Montaigne s Essays and St. Augustine s narrative Confessions. ... Show more content on

Augustine was born in northern Africa portion of the Roman Empire in 354, a time of which
Catholicism was not a prominent feature of Roman society and of which had failed to make an
impression on Augustine until he was in his early thirties (45 6 B). He was quite an intellectual as he
became a professor and taught grammar and was well versed in Latin. Augustine s intelligence is
apparent in the systematic progression of his autobiography Confessions as he looks back at his past
self from a child to an adult in his upper forties with a new higher order perception of the self.
Augustine uses God as a method of conversion from egocentricity to a more God central view in his
depiction of reasonless theft simply because I loved the evil in me (52 B) and further shows the
transition in his thinking by his realization that the pears we stole were beautiful for they were created
by Thee, Thou most Beautiful of all (53 B). By writing as a new person looking at their past self that
was susceptible to lust, theft, and all kinds of sins, Augustine is able to convey the idea that the self is
able to change at a fixed moment, and that the defining point of the self is the memory and grace

Calvinist vs Anti-Calvinist in Dr.Faustus
The Calvinist/anti Calvinist controversy
The theological implications of Doctor Faustus have been the subject of considerable debate
throughout the last century. Among the most complicated points of contention is whether the play
supports or challenges the Calvinist doctrine of absolute predestination, which dominated the lectures
and writings of many English scholars in the latter half of the sixteenth century. According to Calvin,
predestination meant that God, acting of his own free will, elects some people to be saved and others
to be damned thus, the individual has no control over his own ultimate fate. This doctrine was the
source of great controversy because it was seen by the so called anti Calvinists to limit man s free will

One of the greatest critics of Calvinism in Marlowe s day was Peter Baro, who argued that such
teachings fostered despair among believers, rather than repentance among sinners. He claimed, in fact,
that Calvinism created a theodical dilemma:
What shall we say then? That this question so long debated of the Philosophers, most wise men, and
yet undetermined, cannot even of Divines, and men endued with heavenly wisdom, be discussed and
decided? And that God hath in this case laid a crosse upon learned men, wherein they might
perpetually torment themselves? I cannot so think.[27]
Baro recognised the threat of despair which faced the Protestant church if it did not come to an
agreement of how to understand the fundamentals. For him, the Calvinists were overcomplicating the
issues of faith and repentance, and thereby causing great and unnecessary confusion among struggling
believers. Faustus himself confesses a similar sentiment regarding predestination:
The reward of sin is death. That s hard.
... If we say that we have no sin,
We deceive ourselves, and there s no truth in us.
Why then belike we must sin,
And so consequently die.
Ay, we must die an everlasting death.

Greenwashing in Media Essay
Research ProjectGreenwashing in Media In this day and age companies have mastered the technique
of misleading customers by fabricating false claims about a green product or service that they swear to
provide. This insincere display of information is called Greenwashing , a spin off of Whitewashing .
Greenwashing could be said to be a global phenomenon and it s commonly seen in advertisements, on
products packing, websites, emails, speeches, and videos (just to name a few). Greenwashing is a
thought out process, a planned and typically well designed campaign. There is a wide range of reasons
why companies are eager to partake in greenwashing; divert attention for regulatory change, to

On your weekly trip to the supermarket it s easy to find a number of products, from coffee to
dishwashing soap, that flaunt their green attributes (American Psychological Association, 2010). With
such rumors of greenwashing, consumers are more confused than ever. However, some consumers
know the tricks and are coming to find that there are companies whose marketing practices are legit,
not exaggerated or deceiving. APA also found that, people are willing to spend more of their hard
earned green on green products, according to a 2008 survey of 9,000 adults performed by the global
business firm Boston Consulting Group (American Psychological Association, 2010). Consumers who
are willing to pay more for a product or service are assuming that they are purchasing a healthier,
safer, and better quality product or service for the environment. Unfortunately there are consequences
that arise when a consumer has been greenwashed. These consequences are that consumers ultimately
spend more money on products that they believe stand true, and when purchasing these products the
consumer is supporting companies that are harming the environment. Downing et al. states that,
learning how to read advertising critically thus provides individuals with important tools for
interpreting contemporary American culture and avoiding manipulation. Ads are complex texts, the

How St. Thomas Aquinas s Teachings Have Affected Me
How St. Thomas Aquinas s Teachings have Affected Me St. Thomas Aquinas was one of the most
profound and prolific writers of his time, and his teachings I feel continue to resonate today. In fact,
one of his teachers, St. Albert the Great, once said of him, We call this young man a dumb ox, but his
bellowing in doctrine will one day resound throughout the world. This only understates the effect this
one man has had through the legacy he left behind. His works continue to inspire many, myself
included. This man could be describes as a giant among men, for the impact he has had on the world
that continues over seven hundred years after his death. St. Thomas Aquinas has influenced my
personal morals and ethics through his teachings on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
St. Thomas Aquinas further explains something, that I feel is very important to understand in terms of
one s morality. He says, while all human beings lead their lives towards the ultimate end, being God, it
is how one will walk that path that will determine our eternal life. In this path, he refers to the
importance of prudence. For it is prudence that allows one to choose the path that is right before God.
Prudence, can therefore be described as one of the most important virtues one can have according to
Thomas Aquinas. Having researched his works and his views on prudence, I now feel it is important to
re evaluate my own moral living, in order to place a much greater emphasis on prudent living as it
allows one to come closer to God and catch glimpses of His perfection. Therefore, I feel one of the
most significant ways St. Thomas Aquinas has bettered my understanding of moral and ethical living,
is through the importance of prudence, a virtue he obviously held in high regard. The second way by
which St. Thomas Aquinas has influenced my understanding of moral and ethical living is through his
teachings on temperance. Temperance is to seek pleasure rationally as Aquinas puts it. Not only does
he speak much about this virtue in moral living, but he certainly lived it out. In his time in school, he
was teased by his classmates, being called a dumb ox, for his seemingly shy and bashful disposition.
However, he was in

Amusing Ourselves to Death Experiment
I never thought about what it would be like living without technology until I got assigned my summer

computer, radio, television, you couldn t even ride in a car! From the beginning I knew this would be
very challenging for me considering my cell phone is glued to me at the hip and I can t sleep without
the light from a television. I know, pathetic. When I first started I thought this would be so easy. I
would breeze through this with no problem. Man was I wrong! I started at around nine o clock PM the

Postman s argument that through technology we are amusing ourselves to death is also relevant to the
age of Internet. With the Internet we have many different sources available to get a lot of information
quickly. But, do we truly understand all the information? Postman thinks we take things out of context
and do not reason anymore. Also, look how entertaining the Internet can be. YouTube has videos and

However, you could say postman s argument is not relevant to the Internet age because with social

Using Population Control to Achieve Environmental...
Environmental sustainability is when a person, community or area is able to meet the needs of the
present, without compromising the needs of the future. Overconsumption will lead to hardship in the
future, and possibly to the destruction of the planet s finite resources; and if we continue using our
resources as at current rates, which have been estimated to be 4 planets worth of resources, this will be
inevitable. Populations are all the inhabitants of a specific area/country and this population can be
controlled in various methods such as population policies, like the ones in China, Kerala and France;
as well as control via migration by putting on limits.
A population control method that has achieve environmental sustainability is ... Show more content on

On the other hand, Canada has a fairly low population density of just 3.75 people per square kilometer
and with high resources, Canada is environmentally sustainable; some even say that Canada is under
populated and therefore Canada is lenient on in migration.
Similarly to this, Thomas Malthus (1766 1834) had the theory that when population overshoots a
certain point (usually food production) there will be catastrophic effects. The club of Rome, in 1968
published a report called the limit of growth , which stated that population growth will lead to an
increase in food demand and this will eventually lead to resource exhaustion, which is obviously not
environmentally sustainable. To prevent resource exhaustion, the Club of Rome decided that we have
to regulate population growth and reduce fertility and that is what China s One Child Policy, and
Kerala s non enforced population policy was aiming to do. Similarly, the anti Malthusianist Ester
Boserup was a resource optimist, with research based on studies of shifting cultivation. Her hypothesis
was that population growth would result in an increase demand for food and to meet this demand,
improved agriculture productivity would be needed. A higher agricultural productivity means an
increase in methods of agriculture like the slash and burn technique, which often are not
environmentally sustainable at all.
All these population / resource theories

Human s Selfishness vs. Sympathy in The Very Old Man with...
The Very Old Man with Enormous Wings, by Gabriel Márquez, is related to the classical theme of
human s selfishness verses sympathy. However, Márquez uses narrative elements such as plot, setting,
and different characters, to provide much more in depth sources of evidence to support his theme.
In The Very Old Man with Enormous Wings, Márquez uses an Old Man who is supposed to be an
angel to display human s tendencies to show both brutality and/or grace depending on the situation.
The bizarre, tattered looking man with wings is found in a town to see a little boy who is sick. After
the boy s health improves the parents of the boy, Pelayo and Elisenda, decide to let the Old Man reside
in their chicken coop outside their home because they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

not know what to do with the Old Man, and have to contacts Father Gonzaga s superior for help. Even
after the angel helps the family and performs different miracles for others, the villagers respond by
caging and making a spectacle of him. ...they burned his side with an iron for branding steers, for he
had been motionless for so many hours... (272). You would think that if another person were helping
someone, let alone an angel who is supposed to be admired, they would act a little more grateful and
show their appreciation. Using a religious setting emphasizes how the villagers should have acted
towards the Old Man but was able to turn a blind eye from their morals to receive what they want.
Márquez uses The Old Man character, or angel, to show how someone is perceived differently from
who he or she truly is. Determining other peoples actions towards them, whether they are harsh or
kind. When reading A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings, we are never positive as to whether the
Old Man is actually an angel. However, the Old Man carries out miracles for others and has
mysterious wings causing the reader to assume so. The Old Man does not fit the traditional way the
citizens would view a heavenly angel and is considered more freakily than heavenly. His huge buzzard

The Between Sandrine And Jimmy
The given circumstances of Sad and Glad by John Cariani begin with the bar within the local hang out
, which is affectionately named The Moose Paddy. The bar, or, at least, the part that is shown,
contains:
1. A Table with two chairs (One for Sandrine and one for Jimmy)
2. A bathroom door (stage right)
3. An exit/entrance that leads to the front of the bar
This is a very minimalist play in general, so similar to the low amount of furniture, there are also few
given props. Of course, some are added in order to imply atmosphere.
1. Several beer bottles
2. Waitress tray
3. Ashtray (Atmosphere)

This is where it gets a bit complicated. Depending on who you ask, the protagonist can be Sandrine or
Jimmy, and the same with the antagonist. However, if we are going off of the stage directions, it
appears that Jimmy is the protagonist due to his emotional responses being portrayed within the stage
directions. For example, on page seven of the play, Jimmy has a stage direction that says Huge Blow.
But he s tough (Cariani, 7). Except for tone choices, it isn t often that an antagonist has such a clear
description of how the character is feeling, so this is a clue to the concept of Jimmy being the
protagonist. Along with the latter, Jimmy also has to face the obstacles that Sandrine creates to block
him from achieving his goal. The point of attack is the first interaction between Sandrine and Jimmy.
This is initiated when Jimmy notices her coming out of the bathroom in the bar. He s surprised to see
her and wants to talk to her to see how she s doing.
Sandrine, being the antagonist, doesn t want anything to do with Jimmy. She creates the obstacle that
stops Jimmy from achieving his goal, the obstacle being her engagement to another man. However,
her overall goal is to cut her previous ties with Jimmy and return to the normality of her bachelorette
party and new fiancé. At the POA, Sandrine tries to get away from Jimmy,

Ford Pinto Case For A Defective Fuel System
FORD PINTO ASSIGNMENT
The Ford Pinto case involved the explosion of Ford Pinto s due to a defective fuel system. The fuel
system was designed in a way that even with a small hit the car would explode. After the cost benefit
analysis, Ford decided to go with its original gas tank designed despite the crash test result. At that
time Ford thought that would be the most ethical decision for the business. But later in 1978 media
paid more attention to the Pinto gas tank stories, which resulted in accidents and many people lost
their lives. Ford faced pressure from the media, the government, loss of future sales, loss of image,
court cases, and had to recall 1.5 million Pintos. One wrong decision of the Pinto Ford representatives
cost them more than what they assumed. In this case the argument and results would be different
according to ones ethical views. The three main ethical theories I have chosen that could ve changed
the decision and result are; Mills Consequentialism, Kant Deontology, and Rawls theory of
distributive justice. According to Mills Consequentialism ethics, the individuals made the ethical
decision at that point. They were focusing on the end result, which was making money and benefiting
business instead of fixing all the cars that would cost them $137.5 million. The company wanted to

Once in power, Pinochet was assisted by the United States to remain in power. Secretary of State
Henry Kissinger attempted to hide from Congress and the media the breaking of human rights acts
that Pinochet was responsible for. Only a month after he came into power reports from the CIA came
in stating that Pinochet planned to destroy any and all resistance within two months and this will
require more killing by the military. With this knowledge Kissinger, rather than accusing Pinochet of
breaking human rights laws, attempted to outmaneuver the U.S. Congress to supply Pinochet with

3. Explain the advantages and disadvantages of the different means that firms use to enter foreign

Indirect exports: domestic company takes care of the exporting activities of the manufacturing firm.
Corporate exports: firms get in collaboration with other firms to produce product to export. By

The Importance Of Science And Science
In the modern world, science and math make up everything around us. The world we live in now
exists because of science and math, but there was a time when people didn t like math and science. A
time when people would rather believe religion and logic, then math, science, and evidence.
Narrator Michael Mosley tells a story of science. He says the story of one of the great upheavals in
human history was how we came to understand that our planet was not at the center of everything in
the cosmos but just one of billions of bodies in a vast and expanding universe. In Greece, at the temple
of Apollo, there was the city of Delphi, where many greeks would go because they belived there was a
stone that was in the middle of the Earth and the middle of the universe. Greek scientists believed that
the Earth remained still, while the rest of the stars and planets moved around us and Earth was in the
middle of the cosmos.
For thousands of years, people believed that the Earth was in the middles of the universe. They even
built equipment that further fueled their belief. In modern times, we know this isn t true, so how did
people stop believing? It started in the 17th century.
During the 17th centruy, Europe was in turmoil. Religion and new rules were sweeping across the
nation. It was during this time that Rudolph II, who ruled Prague, wanted new discoveries. Prague was
at the center of wealth and power, so Rudolph II wanted to show it. Enter Tycho Brahe, a Danish

They also have striking strengths and weaknesses in their character. Likewise, Jack and Ralph both

However, Jack is very selfish, while Ralph cares for the survival of all on the island. To begin, both of

Jack is very entitled and expects to be the chief, even though his qualifications weren t exactly fitting

himself and those who follow him. He could of just asked the other tribe for some of their fire, but
instead he stole something essential to Piggy for his own, personal, selfish gain. Next, Jack does have
some strengths to his character. Earlier on in the book he has common sense, and knows when to

  • 2. Negative Consequences Of The Dust Bowl I ve seen very often that some people seem to think their actions won t have any negative consequences, or effect on anything around them. This can lead them to make decisions that have can create major consequences for others and themselves, all for personal gain. This idea was widely acted upon in the 1920 s, where so many people had not known that their actions would lead to, creating The Great Depression. One of the more important Consequences was called the Dust Bowl. The Dust Bowl was an event caused by the rise of farming in the 1920 s, which continues to affect the way we grow our crops to this very day. The Dust Bowl was known as a large section of the US that was covered in a large amount of powerful dust storms, which was caused by over excessive farming during the 1920 s. Like many things during the time period, farming had started to become more and more profitable. In fact, farming had been getting more profitable since WW1. However, this caused people to become greedy. People would farm more and more land each year, in an effort to produce better results. Farmers plowed away at field after field, unaware that anything negative would occur from it. As said in the article The Dust Bowl on USHistory.com, What was unknown to these early pioneers was that the grass and trees of the plains essentially nourished and held the soil in place with their tough roots, (3). So when farmers would plow the land, they were disturbing what was keeping all the land in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Kyle Craig and his Abuse on Adderall Nearly five years ago, Kyle Craig, a well rounded and bright student at Vanderbilt University, took his life at the young age of 21. Kyle was described to be a confident, but not arrogant young man. He had a solid 3.5 grade point average and was extremely active in his fraternity. His parents said he was, ...a thrill a minute, focused, happy, achieving and social (James). Kyle, in short, seemed to have it all together. What no one knew is that Kyle illegally looked to Adderall to keep up his I ve got it all together act. Adderall is a stimulant prescription drug for those with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, also known as ADHD (FDA). Kyle took Adderall illegally and abused it much too often just to perform better academically and socially. While abusing the drug, Kyle slowly began spiraling into a dangerous state of psychosis that no one seemed to catch on to. That dangerous spiral led Kyle all the way in front of a train, taking his own life (James). Kyle is not the only young college student to suffer from the effects of stimulant or amphetamine drugs like Adderall. Almost 1,000 cases of psychosis were found to be linked to medications such as Adderall or Ritalin between the years 2000 and 2005 (FDA). Stimulant and Amphetamines are also known to heighten or produce suicidal and depressive thoughts (FDA). With all of these unsettling facts, 1 in 5 college students abuse these drugs and use them as study aids (CBN News). For the last ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to Thebe Ikalafeng, Brand Leadership s founder who led the campaign strategy and project, Naturally we are excited that Brand Leadership was a part of a mutually satisfactory journey with the NDC in Africa s foremost model of democracy. The campaign, as Barack Obama s campaign demonstrated, clearly heralded the new era of political branding with its roots firmly in marketing, branding and new media. It is always gratifying when one can show a causal effect between a campaign and the results. We, as does the NDC, have no doubt, the clear, consistent and disciplined campaign run by the NDC and its aligned activation contributed to victory in a very close but nonetheless exciting and successful election . For Brand Leadership, the success of the election in Ghana is a huge credential that will establish the agency as a leading force in the use of marketing and brand strategy to drive political communication. Using RFID Technology in the Transportation Sector RFID or radio frequency identification is the name given to the technology that uses radio waves to transmit data and uniquely identify an animal, person, or thing ( radio frequency identification, 2013). An RFID system includes a transponder including an antenna and a chip that can easily store a significant amount of data such as location details, manufacturer details and product numbers if any. There are three basic types of the RFID readers. Fixed readers with an external antenna which are often used at the entry points of the yards. Handheld readers are used by personnel moving through the yards or the space. Employment Advertisement and Employer Liability over Employee Conduct, Unit 8 [Name] [University] November __, 2016 MEMORANDUM Part I: Under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act ( ADEA ) contains the rule based on defense of bona fide occupational qualifications ( BFOQ ). Specifically, under ADEA, employer may not advertise based on age preferences. (Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967). Using age range or young boy, young girl, college student, or recent college graduate, will likely violate the ADEA. (29 C.F.R. §1625.4(a)). If both Montaigne and St. Augustine were to converse today, it would be apparent that there would be a bit of clashing between their unique methods of applying human logic to achieve a higher level of understanding of daily events and the environment around them. Among the most complicated points of contention is whether the play supports or challenges the Calvinist doctrine of absolute predestination, which dominated the lectures and writings of many English scholars in the latter half of the sixteenth century. According to Calvin, predestination meant that God, acting of his own free will, elects some people to be saved and others to be damned thus, the individual has no control over his own ultimate fate. One of the greatest critics of Calvinism in Marlowe s day was Peter Baro, who argued that such teachings fostered despair among believers, rather than repentance among sinners. And that God hath in this case laid a crosse upon learned men, wherein they might perpetually torment themselves? Similarly to this, Thomas Malthus (1766 1834) had the theory that when population overshoots a certain point (usually food production) there will be catastrophic effects. The club of Rome, in 1968 published a report called the limit of growth , which stated that population growth will lead to an increase in food demand and this will eventually lead to resource exhaustion, which is obviously not environmentally sustainable. To prevent resource exhaustion, the Club of Rome decided that we have to regulate population growth and reduce fertility and that is what China s One Child Policy, and Kerala s non enforced population policy was aiming to do. Similarly, the anti Malthusianist Ester Boserup was a resource optimist, with research based on studies of shifting cultivation. Her hypothesis was that population growth would result in an increase demand for food and to meet this demand, improved agriculture productivity would be needed. A higher agricultural productivity means an increase in methods of agriculture like the slash and burn technique, which often are not environmentally sustainable at all. The Very Old Man with Enormous Wings, by Gabriel Márquez, is related to the classical theme of human s selfishness verses sympathy. However, Márquez uses narrative elements such as plot, setting, and different characters, to provide much more in depth sources of evidence to support his theme. In The Very Old Man with Enormous Wings, Márquez uses an Old Man who is supposed to be an angel to display human s tendencies to show both brutality and/or grace depending on the situation. The bizarre, tattered looking man with wings is found in a town to see a little boy who is sick. Márquez uses The Old Man character, or angel, to show how someone is perceived differently from who he or she truly is. Determining other peoples actions towards them, whether they are harsh or kind. When reading A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings, we are never positive as to whether the Old Man is actually an angel. The bar, or, at least, the part that is shown, contains: 1. A Table with two chairs (One for Sandrine and one for Jimmy) 2. A bathroom door (stage right) 3. An exit/entrance that leads to the front of the bar This is a very minimalist play in general, so similar to the low amount of furniture, there are also few given props. Of course, some are added in order to imply atmosphere. 1. Several beer bottles 2. Waitress tray 3. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is where it gets a bit complicated. Depending on who you ask, the protagonist can be Sandrine or Jimmy, and the same with the antagonist. However, if we are going off of the stage directions, it appears that Jimmy is the protagonist due to his emotional responses being portrayed within the stage directions. For example, on page seven of the play, Jimmy has a stage direction that says Huge Blow. But he s tough (Cariani, 7). Except for tone choices, it isn t often that an antagonist has such a clear description of how the character is feeling, so this is a clue to the concept of Jimmy being the protagonist. Along with the latter, Jimmy also has to face the obstacles that Sandrine creates to block him from achieving his goal. The point of attack is the first interaction between Sandrine and Jimmy. This is initiated when Jimmy notices her coming out of the bathroom in the bar. He s surprised to see her and wants to talk to her to see how she s doing. Sandrine, being the antagonist, doesn t want anything to do with Jimmy. She creates the obstacle that stops Jimmy from achieving his goal, the obstacle being her engagement to another man. However, her overall goal is to cut her previous ties with Jimmy and return to the normality of her bachelorette party and new fiancé. At the POA, Sandrine tries to get away from Jimmy, ... The fuel system was designed in a way that even with a small hit the car would explode. After the cost benefit analysis, Ford decided to go with its original gas tank designed despite the crash test result. At that time Ford thought that would be the most ethical decision for the business. But later in 1978 media paid more attention to the Pinto gas tank stories, which resulted in accidents and many people lost their lives. Ford faced pressure from the media, the government, loss of future sales, loss of image, court cases, and had to recall 1.5 million Pintos. One wrong decision of the Pinto Ford representatives cost them more than what they assumed. In this case the argument and results would be different according to ones ethical views. The three main ethical theories I have chosen that could ve changed the decision and result are; Mills Consequentialism, Kant Deontology, and Rawls theory of distributive justice. According to Mills Consequentialism ethics, the individuals made the ethical decision at that point. They were focusing on the end result, which was making money and benefiting business instead of fixing all the cars that would cost them $137.5 million. The company wanted to achieve their sales goal, and create the greatest amount of good for the company. The made the business cost benefit analysis, and their decision was beneficial for the ... Only a month after he came into power reports from the CIA came in stating that Pinochet planned to destroy any and all resistance within two months and this will require more killing by the military. With this knowledge Kissinger, rather than accusing Pinochet of breaking human rights laws, attempted to outmaneuver the U.S. Congress to supply Pinochet with weapons that Congress had denied (Landau 1999, pages 16 17). • 35. The Importance Of Science And Science In the modern world, science and math make up everything around us. The world we live in now exists because of science and math, but there was a time when people didn t like math and science. A time when people would rather believe religion and logic, then math, science, and evidence. Narrator Michael Mosley tells a story of science. He says the story of one of the great upheavals in human history was how we came to understand that our planet was not at the center of everything in the cosmos but just one of billions of bodies in a vast and expanding universe. In Greece, at the temple of Apollo, there was the city of Delphi, where many greeks would go because they belived there was a stone that was in the middle of the Earth and the middle of the universe. Greek scientists believed that the Earth remained still, while the rest of the stars and planets moved around us and Earth was in the middle of the cosmos. For thousands of years, people believed that the Earth was in the middles of the universe. They even built equipment that further fueled their belief. In modern times, we know this isn t true, so how did people stop believing? It started in the 17th century. During the 17th centruy, Europe was in turmoil. Religion and new rules were sweeping across the nation. It was during this time that Rudolph II, who ruled Prague, wanted new discoveries. I chose these characters because they are easily contrastable, but also have a few similarities. They also have striking strengths and weaknesses in their character. Likewise, Jack and Ralph both have leadership qualities. They are also some of the most real characters in the novel in my opinion. However, Jack is very selfish, while Ralph cares for the survival of all on the island. To begin, both of them have strengths and weaknesses.
