Black Steminism And Black Feminism During The Civil Rights...
Many Americans have heard of the term Feminism and automatically assume that all feminism is the
same and viewed as equal in society. Unfortunately, this is not the case. Many American don t know or
never heard of the term black feminism and white feminism which were founded at different times in
history. Black feminism is different from white feminism based off of opportunity, origins, ideas, and
development. Black feminism and white feminism are very different as the origins and ideas for
change for women differed. In the late 19th century white feminism emerged during the women s
suffrage movement. White women were fighting for women to have the right to vote and wanted to be
treated equal to white men. White feminism also did not try to combat racism or help African
American women gain the right to vote. Meanwhile Black women still showed support and tried to
help rally for women to receive the right to vote. However during the women s suffrage movement
African American women were often overlooked by white women for their efforts. It wasn t until the
1960 s when the civil rights movement emerged and black power took center stage that Black
feminism came about in full affect. By the 1960 s white women had gained equality and continued to
fight for white women rights within American society where as black women in the South and
northeast witnessed the spread of black activism amidst increasing racial violence and joined the
struggle for racial equality, where they

The Effect Of Boiling Water Changed My Life
Essay Prompt: Describe a teacher or course assignment that has had the most impact on you and why.
Taking the temperature of boiling water changed my life. It wasn t until eight years after participating
in a simple, yet elegant, marine science lab experiment that I realized its full impact on me. It had
infiltrated my life so quietly that the effect had gone completely unnoticed. At least consciously.
Unconsciously, as I look back, there were loads of little signs that something was different after that
lab class: my thinking became more focused, I was able to anticipate questions and challenges to what
I read and wrote, I entertained a variety of perspectives on issues I thought about and discussed
without having to be prompted to do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Did the other groups? Did we all have the same equipment? Had it been calibrated so that everyone
started with the same baseline? What about the water itself? Did it all come from the same source?
What else could possibly influence the outcome of this experiment? Another hour passed quickly as
we discussed hundreds of possibilities for the variations in our recorded results. At the end of our lab
session, we were assigned our first 10 page lab report for the term. Ten pages on taking the
temperature of boiling water!? How would we manage to get ten pages out of this simple assignment?
It turns out that ten pages was conservative. Our lab reports would follow the scientific method: We d
state our hypothesis and the assumptions we had before conducting the experiment; we d list and
describe the procedures followed, step by step, including a list of the equipment and other materials
used; we d discuss the collection of data and provide detailed notes of the recordings; and finally,
draw some conclusions about the findings. When all was said and done, each of us turned in a ten or
more page report that had opened our eyes to the importance of replication of experiments, and to
standardization in procedures and equipment to minimize experimental error. Eight years later, as I
was waxing nostalgic to a prospective honors student sitting in my office, I recalled that boiling water
experiment and

The Water Body Of Water
An oligotrophic body of water has a low nutrient level, which allows for more light penetration. It has
high dissolved oxygen rates, deep waters and low algal growth. The bottom of the water bodies
(lakes), are made of rock, gravel, or sand. The oligotrophic water bodies are home to smallmouth bass,
lake trout, pike, sturgeon and whitefish.
Eutrophic bodies of water have higher nutrient levels, which causes poor light penetration. There is
low dissolved oxygen and shallow water. This all causes higher algal growth. The bottom of the lakes
are made of silt, sand or clay. Carp, bullheads or catfish can be found in the lakes.
Eutrophication is a serious concern for lakes as it can turn an oligotrophic body of water into a
eutrophic body of water, which is dangerous to the ecological diversity.
2. Most natural transistions from an oligotrophic water body to an eutrophic water body will happen
over time, through, sediment erosion, leaf litter, or dying aquatic vegetation and other organisms. As
well, some anaerobic microbes become incapable of performing their tasks, causing a lack of proper
waster digestion and water purifications, this builds up algae which slowly leads to the water body
becoming an Eutrophic lake.
Humans of course tend to speed up these sorts of problems. For more point source pollution there are
the obvious actual pollution, of sewage, garbage, chemicals or otherwise that we empty off into lakes.
However, even atmospheric pollution can lead to lakes

Fascism In Antz
The movie Antz was a great movie in the aspect where the 2 main characters, General Mandible and Z
demonstrate their own form of governments. The type of government that most reflects General
Mandible was Fascism . Reason being is because he favours soldiers over the working class, uses
military enforcement to control citizens, and implements war to develop ant dominance. Firstly,
General Mandible deliberately wanted to leave behind and wanted to kill the working ants during the
tunnel flood. From in the movie he said Workers. They are weak. They lack discipline (Antz). As the
text states, his intentions were to leave the working ants behind, to re create a new colony with the
strongest and well respected soldiers. Secondly, when no ant

The Veil Of Ignorance In Rawls Theory Of Justice
This paper examines the Veil of Ignorance in Rawls theory of justice. The beginning of the paper shall
define and explain the original position and veil of ignorance. The paper will explore the various
implications of Rawls application of the Veil of Ignorance and its use in establishing his conception of
justice. The paper shall look into the different criticisms of the veil of ignorance followed by the
conclusion.
Rawls uses the original position as an alternative to the state of nature and is regarded by Rawls as the
appropriate initial situation for a social contract as justice is the first virtue of social institutions, as
truth is of systems of thought. (Rawls 3) He uses justice as a part of his social contract theory because

Dworkin points out the biggest flaw in Rawls veil of ignorance by stating, A hypothetical contract is
not simply a pale form of an actual contract; it is no contract at all. (Dworkin 289) Dworkin states that
hypothetical agreements have no binding force. These conceptions always fail in real life scenarios.
Dworkin further states, The original position may now be seen as a device for testing these competing
arguments. It supposes, reasonably, that political arrangements that do not display equal concern and
respect are those that are established and administered by powerful men and women who, whether
they recognize it or not, have more concern and respect for members of a particular class, or people
with particular talents or ideals, than they have for others. (Dworkin

The Testament Of The New Testament
The New Testament is known as the second major part of the Christian biblical cannon. The New
Testament, unlike the Old Testament is responsible for spreading Christianity Theology to the world.
The book was written by the disciples of Jesus. When one hear of the book, one s mind think about the
apostle Paul, since he is the one responsible for a large portion of the book and is one of the most
studied out of the apostles. Paul has written: First Thessalonians, Galatians, Philemon, Romans and
many more. However, with the dates of these gospels going back to million years ago; no one can
truly attribute all the Pauline epistles to him. Titus, Ephesians, and First and Second Timothy are all in
question of the authorship being Paul or one his followers which has been seen as a common theme in
history. Paul s main purpose for writing these letters was to educate the communities about how to
obtain a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. There were other letters that he wrote that were
foreshadows of the apocalypse and destruction and one letter that he wrote on behalf of a slave (Letter
to Philemon). Galatians is one of those letters were he is writing to the citizens of Galatia and trying to
help the gentile Christians one again. Paul achieves this by recalling events of his past life, preaching
the gospel that was giving him to by Jesus, and by being expressive and telling the citizens of Galatia
that they have betrayed the Lord Jesus Christ by following the Jewish Laws.

Introduction
Culture is perceived to be one of the difficult words to define and anthropologist Margaret Mead
termed culture as being shared patterns of behavior (Schneider S. C., and Barsoux J., 2003, 2nd ed.,
pg21). Culture is also defined by language, religion, beliefs, customs, cuisine, dress code, literature,
music etc., and is known to act ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In comparison to other cultures, the business culture in Georgia is indubitably considered to be lacking
extensive formality. Georgian entrepreneurs shake hands, both upon greeting and leaving, which
should usually be induced by those who are of higher status and important positions. In addition, they
are a relationship orientated culture, meaning that they concentrate on the people that are involved and
their feelings rather than concentrating on the task on hands or known facts. Georgians freely exert
emotions when communicating, be it excitement or disappointment, and have a propensity to look
from sensitive point of few when forwarding complex information (Goderdzishvili, N.). As Nikas
informed eye contact is usually maintained to both define the importance of message and express
trust. When in the business meetings, the guests are expected to introduce themselves giving full
background information and share their experiences.
Wine Production in Georgia
Another unique interpretation of wine production in Georgia is passport to civilized world
(cafebabel.co.uk). Wine is obviously the most valued asset of Georgians due to the fact that wine
industry is the tourist attraction, which brings about booming results in both tourism sector and
economy of the country. It s also been claimed that the tourism

A Fictional Technological Company Named Decisiontech, Inc.
Patrick Lenciono wrote about a fictional technological company named DecisionTech, Inc. to
illustrate how dysfunctional teams hinder the growth in every faucet of a business operation. The story
focuses on Kathryn, the new CEO, and her journey to fix the inefficiency and ineffectiveness of the
executive staff. Kathryn s primary task is to establish a system of trust and teamwork within the
executive team by destroying the five dysfunctions, absence of trust, fear of conflict, lack of
commitment, avoidance of accountability, and inattention to results that cripple the potential of any
team.
Within two years, DecisionTech, Inc. had built a reputation as the top technology company in the
country. They had a strong business plan that would lead them into the next stages of new technology
and investors were lining up to get a piece. Furthermore, they had young qualified engineers
submitting resume s regularly in hopes of employment. However, after a while, their executive team
developed internal conflict and was unable to lead this bright and promising company to the next
stage. Word of these actions had circulated and the company had now become known for having
personal political agendas and backstabbing; therefore, the Chairman of the board demanded change.
Change came in the form of replacing the formal CEO and co founder, Jeff, who remained within the
company as the head of business development. His replacement, Kathryn, lacked knowledge in the
technology field, but

What Is The Primordial So Up Hypothesis
Primordial Soup Hypothesis The Primordial Soup Hypothesis states that life began in water (pond,
ocean, ect.). It suggests that chemicals from the Earth s atmosphere combined and this created amino
acids. These amino acids would later evolve into all the species. A. I. Oparin and J.B.S. Haldane
fabricated this theory. The theory was presented in 1924. In 1953 an experiment was conducted called
the Miller Urey experiment . The experiment based around placing molecules (of the early Earth s
atmosphere) into a closed system. Gasses and electric shocks were added in the system to simulate the
environment of the early earth. After a week about 15% of the molecules were now organic and 2%
were in the form of amino acids. This evidence supports the theory of Primordial Soup. Iron Sulfur
World Hypothesis The Iron Sulfur World hypothesis is the theory that organic compounds were
created from prehistoric vents. The vents propelled hot pressurized water mixed with various
dissolved gasses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This caused a chain reaction leading to the creation of organic compounds. This theory was comprised
by Gunter Wächtershäuser and first proposed in 1988. The same experiment ( Miller Urey experiment
) can be used as evidence to support the theory that organic compounds came from the early earth.
Wächtershäuser does not agree with the latter approach about how organic compounds are formed. He
feels it s hard to explain why they would assemble themselves into living organisms. This is why he
supports that the origin of life should be sought after relative to the early earth s

The Issue Of Abortion And Abortion Essay
The issue of abortion is a controversial one; there are arguments on both sides of the debate. In 1973
the national case of Roe v. Wade, sparked political decisions that created a national right to abortion.
Further, Roe v. Wade declared that unborn children are not `persons nor are they entitled to the same
constitutional protection as `born children (Baird, Rosenbaum, 2001). However, Roe v. Wade did not
end the debate, nor, did it stop both sides for continuing the fight for their individual beliefs. On the
one hand, pro choice s believe that woman are entitled to have abortions. Stating that an unborn child
is under the rights of the pregnant women. On the other hand, pro lifers believe that a woman should
not have the right to obtain an abortion, stating that an unborn child is a human deserving the same
constitutional rights as a child that has been born. The political goal most frequently mentioned by pro
lifers has been a Human Life Amendment (HLA) to thus, reverse Roe v. Wade. The HLA would
declare unborn children to be persons deserving equal protection under the Constitution. From an
ethical standpoint, one can take either side, for not only these reasons but also many more that we will
further explore. I personally think that abortion is a decision that can only be made by the person in
question, and not between that person and the government or an HLA. We well first look at the overall
argument of the pro choice side. After which, we will delve into the

special screening of this film, Kirby Dick made a special appearance for a post film discussion. The
event began at 5:30P.M. and went on till about 7:30P.M. or so which began with a rocky start as Kirby
Dick was scheduled to arrive in time to introduce the film to the audience, but due to an unfortunate
mishap on Highway 99, it caused him to arrive closer towards the end of the film. In the film we are
presented with two protagonists, Andrea Pino a valedictorian from her high school and Annie Clark
who graduated third in her high school class. Both ladies are alumni s at University of North Carolina
Chapel Hill, and both had been sexually assaulted before their classes at UNC had even began. Both
girls shared very similar experiences; they both knew their attacker, they were in denial about their
assaults, and when they approached their school administrators to report the assault were bombarded
with insulting questions in regards to how they were dressed the night of the attack, if they had been
drinking, and essentially boiled it down to that both girls got what was coming for them for putting
themselves into those situations. The film highlights how colleges and universities try to make their

Renaissance Astronomers
You know, because you ve been told, that the Earth revolves around the Sun. You also probably know
that planets other than our own have moons, and the way to test to see whether or not something is
true is by experimenting. Thousands of years ago, these things were not widely known. The heavens
above were anyone s guess, and the way things were was just the way the gods had made them. It was
felt there was no need to truly understand them or put them in any kind of order. Astronomy is the
oldest of the natural sciences, dating back to thousands of years ago. This paper is about the history of

On to the next portion of time which was called the renaissance astronomy period (1400 1650). Most
renaissance astronomers did not accept the theories of the previous astronomers. So they decided to
make their own. Starting off with the Polish astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus. He began a new era of
astronomy when he concluded that the Sun was the center of the universe instead of the Earth. This
inventive idea was not popular with the Church, but several other astronomers such as Brahe and
Galileo helped to eventually prove that this model of the universe was more accurate. Speaking of
Tycho Brahe he built an observatory from which he made the most accurate astronomical observations
up to that time. His observatory contained equipment for mapping star positions, and for more than 20
years he made detailed records of his findings. He believed that the universe was a blend of the
Ptolemaic and Copernican models, and created his own model in which the planets orbit the Sun and
the Sun orbits the Earth. Moving on to the next big astromoner who was, in fact Tycho Brahes
assistant, Johannes Kepler. He inherited Tycho s collection of astronomical records, and used them to

When the platoon exercises with obstacles, Private Pyle fails to climb the dirty name obstacle because
of his obesity, but Hartman continuously berates and screams at him for his failure saying your ass

The Fall of the Aztec Empire
Abstract:
The Aztec civilization during its peak was the strongest civilization in the western hemisphere. When
the Spaniards first set foot in the Aztec capital Tenochtitlan, they could not believe that a civilization
so primitive in their minds could have been so culturally developed and powerful. However, before
making it to Tenochtitlan, they had discovered that all was not well in the Aztec empire. From many
native Indians that had tension with the Aztecs, they learned of internal and pre existing problems that
existed. This investigation examines to what extent where those internal and pre existing factors to
blame for the downfall of the Aztec Empire. The investigation was undertaken using some of the only

However, the story of the Aztec defeat and the successful resolution of the Spanish mission against
incredible odds raises many questions. Regardless of more advanced technology and weapons, the
Spanish force was vastly outnumbered and began a military campaign poorly supplied within an
unknown territory against an unknown enemy. This paper explores the possibility that other key
factors were at play, which provided the Spanish with a several of advantages and facilitated the
successful resolution of their campaign. Furthermore, these factors allowed for an incredibly quick
and effective subjugation of millions of people considering that by comparison it took hundreds of
years to expel the Muslim armies from southern Spain, a war ending in 1492 and in which many
conquistadores fighting in the new world took part of. This paper will argue that internal religious
quarrels, unsustainable tax obligations, and continuing military conflicts weakened the Aztec social
fabric by increasing resentment among subjugated towns and cities and diminishing trust among Aztec
citizens in their highly centralized government. To begin with, it is important to understand the city

Different works may have different binary oppositions than Cixous already mentioned in her essay,
but the principle is that in patriarchal binary thought the male is always the winner (147). The writer
finds another opposition but has not mentioned by Cixous, it is forgiveness and banishment . In the
novels, Lewis implies inequality of gender which always defends the male characters, just like Cixous
states that male always the victor (147). Lewis more to give special treatment to male and more to let
female characters fall. This inequality can be seen in the characters of Susan and Edmund Pevensie.

is a tax on items that are considered harmful, like tobacco, alcohol, and gambling. In Texas, casinos
are illegal so most revenue from sin taxes are based off the sale of tobacco products and alcohol. Texas
also has placed sin taxes on places of business that host live nude shows and allow alcohol
consumption at the business. This specific sin tax has been nicknamed the pole tax for obvious
reasons. Sin taxes of some form can date back to the Revolutionary War when Alexander Hamilton

What Are The Arguments Made By Oscar Wilde
The general argument made by Oscar Wilde in his work The Importance of Being Earnest is that
education in England is flawed and produces no useful effect. More specifically, Wilde argues that
modern education is useless since it does not contribute to social status. He writes, The whole theory
of education is radically unsound. Fortunately in England, at any rate, education produces no effect
whatsoever (Act 1). In this passage, Wilde is suggesting that education can only be afforded by the
wealthy and therefore royalty remain in power, and the poor remain uneducated. In conclusion, Wilde
s belief is that education is worthless to people of higher class since it doesn t provide any meaningful
benefit. In my view, Wilde is right, because

When the other percentage of older adults cannot maintain to keep their homes, they will end up with
relatives most likely their children. Three fourths of Americans end up living in poor quality areas.
Those who live in these deteriorating, crime ridden, decaying neighborhoods are potentially more
capable of being robbed or mugged. Fortunately there are several areas in which older people can go
to where they have assisted living options. These facilities can offer help with maintenance, daily
meals, social centers, and protection.
Health care will be needed more in the older population than any other. The old age is growing
continuously. There are more of the older adults today than babies. Older adults are more likely to
have a long term illness. During the 80 s the government said they were no longer able to pay for
health care. This resulted in eligibility and limits in paying off the payments. If limits continue to be
present, this can result in the poor and older people to face untreated illnesses and have a higher risk
of death. Physicians are mainly trained to watch over the youth meaning the less interest in helping the
older adults. The older population will be neglected and can be mis diagnosed. Those who also have
lack of transportation will also end up with inadequate care.
How is the adjustment and transition from work to retirement? The main goal of society is to maintain
the work flow and keeping a high rate of employment. A factor that was used in

The Problem Of High School
High School is one of the most prominent time in one s life. During this time, one is taught to be
financially literate, how to use grammar and punctuations wisely, be mathematically inclined and
aware of different sciences. Notice how I excluded history, but there is a reason for this. History is
often manipulated and told by those who are comfortable telling fabricated stories made up by the
white man. This causes for students, especially African Americans have a false interpretation of their
history and come to college relatively unprepared. ADW and its concepts go into the root of history
without giving out false conceptions, however, it is very unfortunate that it is not taught until one s
young adult years because that is when distorted information is already drilled into their brain. ADW
concepts being taught in high school such as issues of identity; the intersection of race, gender, and
social class; displacement, and conditions of servitude could only lead to the enrichment of the
inquiring minds of this generation, allow them to see relatable circumstances, and help diminish their
ignorance of African history.
Throughout the years, we often deal with different measures of judgment and marginalizing. When a
person has the mentality that they are in fact more supreme than the other regardless of what it is, it is
something that is taught at home. The person who s the victim of inferiority, has the power to teach the
oppressor, but use only factual statements and

It is said that Time and Tide waits for none . As an upcoming college freshman I need to understand
the value of time to succeed in life. I have to understand that everything needs to be prioritized no
matter the case. That being able to manage my time correctly will teach me discipline which is exactly
what I need to get through college with the goals I have set for myself. Individuals who stick to a time
plan are more likely the people who realize their goals and objectives within the shortest possible time
span. This will help me get my work done before the deadline instead of working on it the night

During the period of 600 1450, the eastern hemisphere was connected through many trading routes.
Although both the IOT and SR resulted in immense wealth being created, the IOT promoted islam
through its ocean voyages and the SR supported Christianity through the overland routes, and it had
more drastic effects on society. The SR and IOT were profiting in immense wealth due to being
exclusive traders. When the Crusaders or the Christian knights from Western Europe came to the ME,
in order to claim back their holy city Jerusalem, they were awed in wonder as they saw how spices
came and went, and the transfusion of many enlightening ideas took place. They witnessed Arabic

Saffron proved to be an equally important trade because of the high value that was placed on it. Not
only did it add intense and wonderful flavor to food, but during a time where there were no
refrigerators, saffron helped preserve food. Slaves, another major source of trade, had the strongest
influence since they were the most valuable goods and they were the most traded/bought goods.
Slavery not only played a key factor then, but would do so in centuries to follow as well. The SR
promoted the influence of Christianity, mostly because its final destination was Rome. After the
Roman Emperor Constantine converted to Christianity, a large portion of Rome did so as well,
resulting in Rome becoming a Catholic state. After many goods arrived in Rome, from places as far as
China, cultural diffusion occurred as a result. Also, the Crusaders influenced the road as they ventured
on recapturing Jursalem. In the SR, the major goods that were traded were silk and porcelain from
China, and horses from Persia. Silk, of all the goods listed, was the most important, not only because
of its value, but also its quality, which resulted in the SR being called the SR . However, extremely
unlike like the IOT, the SR had a disastrous effect due to Mongols passing off a disease called Black
Death . It had a

Plant Pollinators
Plants and Pollinators To begin, let me ask you something, what would it feel like not to have flowers
or colorful fruits surrounding you or if they were never there in the first place. Well we should thank
our amazing pollinators as such as the bee, hummingbird, e.t.c. We sometimes don t realize how
important they are to us and that we take them for granted. Pollinators play a hard working role in the
ecosystem and are extremely important. The reason they are such an important factor to this world is
because pollinators are the ones that create and maintain new habitats for our ecosystems. These
pollinators are also held responsible for helping the plants grow our amazing fruits that we have today.
Since from this help from pollinators, fruits and other flowers that are pollinated can turn into world
needs and help out the world in many ways. It is said that more than 1,200 types of plants are grown
around the world for food,, medicines, spices, or even condiments. Of these, about 75% are pollinated
by animals. More than one of every three bites of food we eat or beverages we drink are directly
because of pollinators. Indirectly, pollinators ultimately play a role in the majority of what we eat and
consume. You can also make a positive difference near or around your household. So next you think
of bees or hummingbirds just know that those animals are the ones that make this world better. Plant
pollinators are amazing to this world and help every plant out there.. But

Nursing Ethical Dilemma
Ethics #1. According to Nursing Leadership and management ATI ethics is defined as an expected
behavior of a certain group in relation to what is considered right or wrong. (Henery, McMichael,
Johnson, DiStasi, Ball, Holman, 2016) There are six ethical principles they are autonomy which is the
ability of the client to make personal decisions, even when those decisions might not be in the client s
own best interest. The second principle is beneficence which is care in the best interest of the client.
Third is fidelity which is keeping ones promise to the client about care that was offered. The next
principle is justice which is fair treatment in matters related to physical and psychological care and use
of resources. Then there is non maleficence which is the nurse s obligation to avoid causing harm to
the client. The last principle is veracity which is the nurse s duty to tell the truth. (Henery, McMichael,
Johnson, DiStasi, Ball, Holman, 2016) Ethical Decision Making Process #2. 1.) Identify whether the

Prison Authority And The Prison System
Most people are aware that prisoners possess zero authority in the prison system. They have no control
over any aspect of their daily lives, but instead they are minded by prison jurisdiction. Prison guards
and wardens possess the power to do anything that they please within those brick walls. This is an
issue that society has been aware of for many decades; however, there has been little to no effort to
change the conditions. Many prisoners have sought to inform society of how these prison authority
figures abuse their power by producing many different types of media. One of those individual s is the
poet, and former prisoner Carolyn Baxter. While being incarcerated in the New York City women s
correctional facility, Baxter wrote a poem entitled 35 Years a Correctional Officer. In this poem she
expresses the motif of power by telling the story of a correctional officer who was in fact abusing her
authority to satisfy her own needs. Baxter reveals this motif by cunningly using the literary elements
of situational irony and tone. The correctional officer that Baxter talks about in this poem is
introduced as Ms. Goodall . Her name correlates with how her character is revealed throughout the
beginning of the poem. Baxter begins by stating, Ms. Goodall does not drink, swear, or masturbate ,
and then following up with, It s against God s will , she says (Baxter 1 2). With the previous quotes
Baxter reveals that Ms. Goodall has given everyone the impression that she is a

Manet s Bar At The Folies Bergere
Manet s Bar at the Folies Bergère, one of the most perplexing and mysterious paintings to exist, holds
deep meaning and reflects French social life in this era. This work of art illustrates a Parisian
nightclub, the Folies Bergère, which catered to a diverse set of acts including the circus and ballet. It is
here that the Barmaid works and where we see the interaction between her and the gentleman. This is
where an extremely important concept of the work appears perspective. Throughout the years there
have been numerous interpretations and claims concerning why Manet painted the scene as he did,
whether or not the perspective is accurate, and how all of the elements including the mirror and
woman come together. Another fascinating element that comes from this scene is the social aspects of
French life during this time. This element comes into play in the relationship between the barmaid and
the gentleman in the top hat, the woman s expression, and the occupation of the woman. Although
there are many enlightening interpretations of Manet s work, there is one that is particularly strong.
Manet s use of perspective and inclusion of social matters both engages the viewer and leads them to
ponder what it is exactly that they are viewing. A reason this painting has sparked so much interest and
analysis is the mind boggling perspective and reflection. One of the first observations the viewer
makes is that the barmaid and the barmaid s reflection do not go together. Pullman

  • 2. Black Steminism And Black Feminism During The Civil Rights... Many Americans have heard of the term Feminism and automatically assume that all feminism is the same and viewed as equal in society. Unfortunately, this is not the case. Many American don t know or never heard of the term black feminism and white feminism which were founded at different times in history. Black feminism is different from white feminism based off of opportunity, origins, ideas, and development. Black feminism and white feminism are very different as the origins and ideas for change for women differed. In the late 19th century white feminism emerged during the women s suffrage movement. White women were fighting for women to have the right to vote and wanted to be treated equal to white men. White feminism also did not try to combat racism or help African American women gain the right to vote. Meanwhile Black women still showed support and tried to help rally for women to receive the right to vote. However during the women s suffrage movement African American women were often overlooked by white women for their efforts. It wasn t until the 1960 s when the civil rights movement emerged and black power took center stage that Black feminism came about in full affect. By the 1960 s white women had gained equality and continued to fight for white women rights within American society where as black women in the South and northeast witnessed the spread of black activism amidst increasing racial violence and joined the struggle for racial equality, where they ... • 3. The Effect Of Boiling Water Changed My Life Essay Prompt: Describe a teacher or course assignment that has had the most impact on you and why. Taking the temperature of boiling water changed my life. It wasn t until eight years after participating in a simple, yet elegant, marine science lab experiment that I realized its full impact on me. It had infiltrated my life so quietly that the effect had gone completely unnoticed. At least consciously. Unconsciously, as I look back, there were loads of little signs that something was different after that lab class: my thinking became more focused, I was able to anticipate questions and challenges to what I read and wrote, I entertained a variety of perspectives on issues I thought about and discussed without having to be prompted to do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Did the other groups? Did we all have the same equipment? Had it been calibrated so that everyone started with the same baseline? What about the water itself? Did it all come from the same source? What else could possibly influence the outcome of this experiment? Another hour passed quickly as we discussed hundreds of possibilities for the variations in our recorded results. At the end of our lab session, we were assigned our first 10 page lab report for the term. Ten pages on taking the temperature of boiling water!? How would we manage to get ten pages out of this simple assignment? It turns out that ten pages was conservative. Our lab reports would follow the scientific method: We d state our hypothesis and the assumptions we had before conducting the experiment; we d list and describe the procedures followed, step by step, including a list of the equipment and other materials used; we d discuss the collection of data and provide detailed notes of the recordings; and finally, draw some conclusions about the findings. When all was said and done, each of us turned in a ten or more page report that had opened our eyes to the importance of replication of experiments, and to standardization in procedures and equipment to minimize experimental error. Eight years later, as I was waxing nostalgic to a prospective honors student sitting in my office, I recalled that boiling water experiment and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Water Body Of Water An oligotrophic body of water has a low nutrient level, which allows for more light penetration. It has high dissolved oxygen rates, deep waters and low algal growth. The bottom of the water bodies (lakes), are made of rock, gravel, or sand. The oligotrophic water bodies are home to smallmouth bass, lake trout, pike, sturgeon and whitefish. Eutrophic bodies of water have higher nutrient levels, which causes poor light penetration. There is low dissolved oxygen and shallow water. This all causes higher algal growth. The bottom of the lakes are made of silt, sand or clay. Carp, bullheads or catfish can be found in the lakes. Eutrophication is a serious concern for lakes as it can turn an oligotrophic body of water into a eutrophic body of water, which is dangerous to the ecological diversity. 2. Most natural transistions from an oligotrophic water body to an eutrophic water body will happen over time, through, sediment erosion, leaf litter, or dying aquatic vegetation and other organisms. As well, some anaerobic microbes become incapable of performing their tasks, causing a lack of proper waster digestion and water purifications, this builds up algae which slowly leads to the water body becoming an Eutrophic lake. Humans of course tend to speed up these sorts of problems. For more point source pollution there are the obvious actual pollution, of sewage, garbage, chemicals or otherwise that we empty off into lakes. However, even atmospheric pollution can lead to lakes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Fascism In Antz The movie Antz was a great movie in the aspect where the 2 main characters, General Mandible and Z demonstrate their own form of governments. The type of government that most reflects General Mandible was Fascism . Reason being is because he favours soldiers over the working class, uses military enforcement to control citizens, and implements war to develop ant dominance. Firstly, General Mandible deliberately wanted to leave behind and wanted to kill the working ants during the tunnel flood. From in the movie he said Workers. They are weak. They lack discipline (Antz). As the text states, his intentions were to leave the working ants behind, to re create a new colony with the strongest and well respected soldiers. • 6. The Veil Of Ignorance In Rawls Theory Of Justice This paper examines the Veil of Ignorance in Rawls theory of justice. The beginning of the paper shall define and explain the original position and veil of ignorance. The paper will explore the various implications of Rawls application of the Veil of Ignorance and its use in establishing his conception of justice. The paper shall look into the different criticisms of the veil of ignorance followed by the conclusion. Rawls uses the original position as an alternative to the state of nature and is regarded by Rawls as the appropriate initial situation for a social contract as justice is the first virtue of social institutions, as truth is of systems of thought. Dworkin points out the biggest flaw in Rawls veil of ignorance by stating, A hypothetical contract is not simply a pale form of an actual contract; it is no contract at all. (Dworkin 289) Dworkin states that hypothetical agreements have no binding force. These conceptions always fail in real life scenarios. Dworkin further states, The original position may now be seen as a device for testing these competing arguments. It supposes, reasonably, that political arrangements that do not display equal concern and respect are those that are established and administered by powerful men and women who, whether they recognize it or not, have more concern and respect for members of a particular class, or people with particular talents or ideals, than they have for others. • 8. The Testament Of The New Testament The New Testament is known as the second major part of the Christian biblical cannon. The New Testament, unlike the Old Testament is responsible for spreading Christianity Theology to the world. The book was written by the disciples of Jesus. When one hear of the book, one s mind think about the apostle Paul, since he is the one responsible for a large portion of the book and is one of the most studied out of the apostles. Paul has written: First Thessalonians, Galatians, Philemon, Romans and many more. However, with the dates of these gospels going back to million years ago; no one can truly attribute all the Pauline epistles to him. Titus, Ephesians, and First and Second Timothy are all in question of the authorship being Paul or one his followers which has been seen as a common theme in history. Paul s main purpose for writing these letters was to educate the communities about how to obtain a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. There were other letters that he wrote that were foreshadows of the apocalypse and destruction and one letter that he wrote on behalf of a slave (Letter to Philemon). Galatians is one of those letters were he is writing to the citizens of Galatia and trying to help the gentile Christians one again. Paul achieves this by recalling events of his past life, preaching the gospel that was giving him to by Jesus, and by being expressive and telling the citizens of Galatia that they have betrayed the Lord Jesus Christ by following the Jewish Laws. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In comparison to other cultures, the business culture in Georgia is indubitably considered to be lacking extensive formality. Georgian entrepreneurs shake hands, both upon greeting and leaving, which should usually be induced by those who are of higher status and important positions. In addition, they are a relationship orientated culture, meaning that they concentrate on the people that are involved and their feelings rather than concentrating on the task on hands or known facts. Georgians freely exert emotions when communicating, be it excitement or disappointment, and have a propensity to look from sensitive point of few when forwarding complex information (Goderdzishvili, N.). As Nikas informed eye contact is usually maintained to both define the importance of message and express trust. When in the business meetings, the guests are expected to introduce themselves giving full background information and share their experiences. Wine Production in Georgia Another unique interpretation of wine production in Georgia is passport to civilized world (cafebabel.co.uk). • 11. A Fictional Technological Company Named Decisiontech, Inc. Patrick Lenciono wrote about a fictional technological company named DecisionTech, Inc. to illustrate how dysfunctional teams hinder the growth in every faucet of a business operation. The story focuses on Kathryn, the new CEO, and her journey to fix the inefficiency and ineffectiveness of the executive staff. Kathryn s primary task is to establish a system of trust and teamwork within the executive team by destroying the five dysfunctions, absence of trust, fear of conflict, lack of commitment, avoidance of accountability, and inattention to results that cripple the potential of any team. Within two years, DecisionTech, Inc. had built a reputation as the top technology company in the country. They had a strong business plan that would lead them into the next stages of new technology and investors were lining up to get a piece. Furthermore, they had young qualified engineers submitting resume s regularly in hopes of employment. However, after a while, their executive team developed internal conflict and was unable to lead this bright and promising company to the next stage. Word of these actions had circulated and the company had now become known for having personal political agendas and backstabbing; therefore, the Chairman of the board demanded change. Change came in the form of replacing the formal CEO and co founder, Jeff, who remained within the company as the head of business development. • 12. What Is The Primordial So Up Hypothesis Primordial Soup Hypothesis The Primordial Soup Hypothesis states that life began in water (pond, ocean, ect.). It suggests that chemicals from the Earth s atmosphere combined and this created amino acids. These amino acids would later evolve into all the species. A. I. Oparin and J.B.S. Haldane fabricated this theory. The theory was presented in 1924. In 1953 an experiment was conducted called the Miller Urey experiment . The experiment based around placing molecules (of the early Earth s atmosphere) into a closed system. Gasses and electric shocks were added in the system to simulate the environment of the early earth. After a week about 15% of the molecules were now organic and 2% were in the form of amino acids. This evidence supports the theory of Primordial Soup. Iron Sulfur World Hypothesis The Iron Sulfur World hypothesis is the theory that organic compounds were created from prehistoric vents. • 13. The Issue Of Abortion And Abortion Essay The issue of abortion is a controversial one; there are arguments on both sides of the debate. In 1973 the national case of Roe v. Wade, sparked political decisions that created a national right to abortion. Further, Roe v. Wade declared that unborn children are not `persons nor are they entitled to the same constitutional protection as `born children (Baird, Rosenbaum, 2001). However, Roe v. Wade did not end the debate, nor, did it stop both sides for continuing the fight for their individual beliefs. On the one hand, pro choice s believe that woman are entitled to have abortions. Stating that an unborn child is under the rights of the pregnant women. On the other hand, pro lifers believe that a woman should not have the right to obtain an abortion, stating that an unborn child is a human deserving the same constitutional rights as a child that has been born. The political goal most frequently mentioned by pro lifers has been a Human Life Amendment (HLA) to thus, reverse Roe v. Wade. The HLA would declare unborn children to be persons deserving equal protection under the Constitution. From an ethical standpoint, one can take either side, for not only these reasons but also many more that we will further explore. I personally think that abortion is a decision that can only be made by the person in question, and not between that person and the government or an HLA. We well first look at the overall argument of the pro choice side. After which, we will delve into the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In addition to the special screening of this film, Kirby Dick made a special appearance for a post film discussion. The event began at 5:30P.M. and went on till about 7:30P.M. or so which began with a rocky start as Kirby Dick was scheduled to arrive in time to introduce the film to the audience, but due to an unfortunate mishap on Highway 99, it caused him to arrive closer towards the end of the film. In the film we are presented with two protagonists, Andrea Pino a valedictorian from her high school and Annie Clark who graduated third in her high school class. Both ladies are alumni s at University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, and both had been sexually assaulted before their classes at UNC had even began. Both girls shared very similar experiences; they both knew their attacker, they were in denial about their assaults, and when they approached their school administrators to report the assault were bombarded with insulting questions in regards to how they were dressed the night of the attack, if they had been drinking, and essentially boiled it down to that both girls got what was coming for them for putting themselves into those situations. It was felt there was no need to truly understand them or put them in any kind of order. Astronomy is the oldest of the natural sciences, dating back to thousands of years ago. So they decided to make their own. Starting off with the Polish astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus. He began a new era of astronomy when he concluded that the Sun was the center of the universe instead of the Earth. This inventive idea was not popular with the Church, but several other astronomers such as Brahe and Galileo helped to eventually prove that this model of the universe was more accurate. Speaking of Tycho Brahe he built an observatory from which he made the most accurate astronomical observations up to that time. His observatory contained equipment for mapping star positions, and for more than 20 years he made detailed records of his findings. He believed that the universe was a blend of the Ptolemaic and Copernican models, and created his own model in which the planets orbit the Sun and the Sun orbits the Earth. Moving on to the next big astromoner who was, in fact Tycho Brahes assistant, Johannes Kepler. Furthermore, these factors allowed for an incredibly quick and effective subjugation of millions of people considering that by comparison it took hundreds of years to expel the Muslim armies from southern Spain, a war ending in 1492 and in which many conquistadores fighting in the new world took part of. Throughout the years there have been numerous interpretations and claims concerning why Manet painted the scene as he did, whether or not the perspective is accurate, and how all of the elements including the mirror and woman come together. Another fascinating element that comes from this scene is the social aspects of French life during this time. This element comes into play in the relationship between the barmaid and the gentleman in the top hat, the woman s expression, and the occupation of the woman. Although there are many enlightening interpretations of Manet s work, there is one that is particularly strong. Manet s use of perspective and inclusion of social matters both engages the viewer and leads them to ponder what it is exactly that they are viewing.
