My Reflection On The Court Trip
This is a report of my reflection on the court trip that my class, CLU 3M attened on May 18, 2016.
This report contains my reflection on what I did that day, what I saw, and my opinion on our judicial
system. In this report some of the terms that I recognized during the trips are bolded, and I have
elaborated on the meanings of the terms. I will conclude this report with my opinion the court process.
Brad and I walked into the provincial court on Wyndham street at approximately 8:40 am. Provincial
courts are the lower courts in the jurisdiction. As soon as I noticed 4 clipboards that had pages with a
list of names and timing on them, this was also referred as a docket. The names were the offenders of
the case, and there time represented their trial time. An offender is the person who had committed the
illegal act. As I walked down the narrow hall I joined in with the rest of the class. We were sitting in
the waiting area, and near the sign that said duty counsel. Duty counsels are lawyers that can give the
accused advise on what they should when the accused do not have a lawyer. As we waited a lawyer
came outside of the office and yelled, If anybody needs duty counsel . I noticed there were two court
rooms, both had their own dockets. The court room was separated by the waiting area, and the
vending machine. As I waited for Mr. Fast to come, I looked around and saw some really sketchy
looking people, I even recognized two from my elementary school. There were allot of

Follicle Stimulating Hormone Research Paper
Hormones released from the anterior pituitary are gonadotropins and it has two FSH and LH. Follicle
stimulating hormone (FSH) has to do with the ovaries, stimulates the development of eggs and
follicles for females. In males the testes are involved and stimulates production of sperm. Luteinizing
hormone (LH) functions to tell the ovaries and testes to make other hormones. For example, in
females it stimulates ovulation and secretes estrogen. In males the stimulation of interstitial cells of
testes secretes testosterone. Thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) stimulates growth of thyroid gland
and the secretion of thyroid hormone T3 and T4. Adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) deals with
regulating the response to stress, adrenal gland cortex to release ... Show more content on

In the posterior pituitary hormones released are ADH and Oxytocin. Antidiuretic hormone (ADH)
targets the kidneys to raise water retention to reduce urine for stable blood pressure. Oxytocin is the
release of labor contractions, lactation of milk from mothers when they feel their baby close to them
and emotional bonding. 8. They both affect cells trying to bind to receptors but in different ways
hydrophobic hormones are intracellular receptors that are inside the cell. Hydrophilic hormones act as
via membrane bound receptors that are outside the cell. They are polypeptides and proteins, water
loving, and modify existing metabolic proteins. Hydrophobic contain lipids and fats, it also turns on
gene transcription. 9. They are all located in the pancreas and deal with glucose. Insulin is a
hypoglycemic hormone which decreases blood glucose and glucagon is the opposite it s a
hyperglycemic. Glucagon increases glucose and causes the liver to break down glycogen. 10. The
thyroid gland is located in the neck below the larynx, the hormone it contains is T4 and T3 which

Hurricane Katrina Effect On Louisiana
Hurricane in Katrina and the Effect on Louisiana
Like most states and countries positioned near large bodies of water, natural disasters and global
epidemic have taken a toll on Louisiana s climate and environments. Hurricane Katrina had a major
effect on Louisiana. For example, its coastline, and environment was effected. Hurricane Katrina is
one of the deadliest hurricanes that ever hit the United States. It hit a couple of cities, but it hit the city
of New Orleans, Louisiana the hardest. New Orleans was very popular for tourists before Katrina hit,
and still is (Jervis, 2015). After it hit New Orleans, it left many people devastated; killing an estimated
amount of 1,833 people. Many of people were left homeless. There are still places ... Show more

I know this because in the passage it states Wetlands along the southern coastlines of the United States
serve as natural speed bumps to approaching hurricanes by starving them of warm ocean water and
creating physical barriers to surging flood waters. However, in the last 100 years, the construction of
levees and canals has turned thousands of square miles of wetland habitat into open water. This video
from NOVA science NOW explores the importance of these critical habitats and examines the damage
Hurricane Katrina caused to one stretch of Louisiana wetland (History 2010).
The hurricane caused destruction in wildlife, as well as habitats. The winds were so strong that it tore
down trees, almost five million acres of forest over Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama were
damaged by Hurricane Katrina. That caused animals to have to move to a different location because of
the loss of their habitat. And on the other hand Damaged forests increase the risk of wildfire, insect
infestation, and the establishment of invasive species. Furthermore, as all the dead trees decompose,
they release substantial carbon dioxide to the atmosphere, exacerbating global warming (History

Habeas Corpus And The War On Terror
Habeas Corpus and the War on Terror
Joshua Beasley
POL201: American National Government

January 12, 2015
Habeas Corpus and the War on Terror Every person has the right to undergo a judicial hearing to avoid
illegal detention. However, if that person poses threat to the society and the state, there are instances
that the said right is overseen where these types of people are quickly detained after capturing. The
writ of Habeas Corpus gives the rights to the captured people to undergo judicial trial. But there is also
an article in the U.S. Constitution that states that the writ of Habeas Corpus can only be lifted if the
people being questioned in involved in a rebellion or pose a threat to the safety of the public. That is
why the administration of the previous U.S. President Bush detained all of the people whom they
tagged as terrorist and were captured in the war on Afghanistan in 2001. The question now is to what
extend must be the actions of an individual in order to undergo proper trial hearing or to just be put in
imprisonment without any hearings or trials done? The purpose of this paper is to review issues within
Habeas Corpus and GITMO, discuss how policies changing over time affect the dynamic state of
United States, and how these changes can make a big impact to the future law making and practice of
the country that is why this issue must be evaluated and examined. The Legal Information Institute of
the Cornell University Law School (n.d.) said

Compare And Contrast The Battle Of Cold Harbor Vs Gaines Mill
Cold Harbor vs. Gaines Mill Even though the battle of Gaines Mill took place at the same
battleground as the battle of Cold Harbor, the battle of Cold Harbor and the battle of Gaines mill were
not nearly the same. The battle of Gaines Mill was a battle fought in the Civil War. It took place on
June 27, 1862 in a small town located about 10 miles from Richmond. It lasted one to two hours. This
battle resulted in a Confederate victory. General Robert Lee commanded the Confederate army and
General George McClellan commanded the Union army. This town was so important to the Union
army that they tried capturing the same town two years later! It was important because they needed to
capture Cold Harbor in order to capture the Confederate capitol of Richmond, Virginia. The battle of
Cold Harbor was located in the same place as Gaines Mill. It took place on May 31 and ended on June
12. General Grant and his Union army went up against General Lee and his Confederate army. Lee
had won again. Grant and his army would have won the battle of Cold Harbor but his plan was ruined.
Grant had to postpone the battle to June third instead of June second because he needed to wait for
more troops to arrive. This gave Lee more time to get ready for the attack and the next day, the Union
army got slaughtered. These battles were not nearly the same because General George McClellan
commanded the Union troops in the battle of Gaines Mill and General Ulysses Grant commanded the

Radiocarbon Dating
Organic archaeological specimens, matter that was once living, such as bone, shells, skins, fibers,
wool, etc., are all dated by use of radiocarbon dating (anything that once lived). The radiocarbon
dating process measures the Carbon 14 isotopes within the organic material being examined. This
method measures the radioactive emissions from the once living matter, comparing its activity with
the equilibrium level of living things, a measurement of the time elapsed can be made. The radioactive
isotope within the artifact will help determine the objects age.

This dating method is a geochemical method, which determines the age of obsidian (volcanic glass)
by measuring the layer of film present on the rock that has been formed by diffusing water over time
onto the surface of the artifact. The obsidian, over time, absorbs water when exposed to air. Therefore
differentiating conditions the rock is exposed to will determine the amount of water the sample
absorbs. In order to use obsidian hydrations for absolute dating, the conditions that the materials have
been exposed to must be understood, (i.e. climate conditions, location of excavation will determine
hydration levels within the sample), or comparing the material to samples of a known

Narrative Essay On High School Basketball
My freshman year of high school basketball was almost coming to an end. Our record was pretty
stellar, and we needed one more win to get the wildcard, which meant we would automatically make it
to state. My team was playing against Malcolm, in a really tight game. We were down by two points
and Coach Henkel put me in to shoot a three pointer, but both of our hopes and dreams were short
lived. I missed the shot, and I lost the game for us. I was devastated, and so was everyone else. As I sat
in the locker room, all I could do was stare at the ground. The only thing running through my mind
was, no one is going to trust me with the ball anymore or worse yet, everyone is going to be mad at
me. These thoughts were slowly tearing me down, day by day. But that was until Coach Henkel talked
to me, and told me not to worry about missing the shot. He told me everyone misses, and that he wasn
t to worried. So, I was given two options, dwell on the past and let that affect my playing, or forget
about it and move on.
I have been given multiple opportunities where not dwelling on the past has come into play. In the
eighth grade I helped someone cheat on a test, and got caught. Yes, it was a bad decision and I have
definitely learned from it. I had to serve a detention and then always thought that Mr. Sass was going
to hate me forever. But I didn t dwell on what happened and learned from my mistakes. I had to learn
to move on because the past was the past. Thinking about the mistake I had

The Book of Acts Essay
The Book of Acts The book of Acts is known as the birth of the church . Acts recounts the story of the
early church from the time of Jesus ascension to Paul s arrival as a prisoner in Rome. Acts was written
by the author of Luke s gospel, Luke. Although the author does not name himself, evidence from the
book itself proves that the author was Luke. Luke was a physician. Scriptural evidence of this includes
Colossians 4:14: Our dear friend Luke, the doctor, and Demas send greetings. Luke often used
medical language. For instance, he finds the sailors bandaging the ship in Acts 27:17: When the men
had hoisted in aboard, they passed ropes under the ship itself to hold it together. Fearing that they

This is found by comparing Acts 1:1 with Luke 1:3 4. Acts 1:1: In my former book, Theophilus, I
wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach until the day he was taken up to heaven, after
giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen. Luke 1: 3 4: (3) Therefore,
since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, it seemed good also to me to
write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, (4) so that you may know the certainty of
things you have been taught. Because Luke s first book was written to Theophilus as was Acts, Luke
must be the author of both. Another reason to believe that Luke is the author of Acts is the way both
the book of Acts and Luke are written. The vocabulary, grammar and style are not only consistent
throughout both gospels. Luke was an eyewitness of some of the events in chapters 16 28, where he
changes his they statements to we statements. An example of this is in Acts16:10 11, 16: (10) And
after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavored to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering
that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them. (11) Therefore loosing from Troas, we
came with a straight course to Samothracia and the next day to Neapolis. (16) And it came to pass, as
we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit

Assignment Two Duloxetine Peer Response I thought you provided a thorough look on Cymbalta and

Musculoskeletal pain, and Diabetic peripheral neuropathy. I would be fascinated in exploring more
about how Cymbalta helps with other disorders since it is listed primarily as an antidepressant. I am
wondering if the medication reduces their depressive emotions about their diagnoses which then help
with their pain. It appears, many of the studies you found observed significant reduction in depressive
symptoms with treatment for MDD and GAD. Li et al.

Essay about Health Care Transparency
Health Care Transparency

Health Care Transparency Healthcare transparency has been defined by the Institute of Medicine
(IOM) as making available to the public, in a reliable and understandable manner, information on the
health care system s quality, efficiency and consumer experience with care, which includes price and
quality data, so as to influence the behavior of patients, providers, payers and others to achieve better
outcomes (American College, 2010). Transparency allows consumers to make better informed
decisions. It also helps health facilities convey information to the public. With more information in the

Patient satisfaction surveys will also help potential patients understand the environment they are about
to enter. If a staff is rude and curt than the public will have access to this. Essentially, this will
encourage health care providers to give optimal quality of service to each and every patient. Of
course, it s important that a patients expectations are not too grand. Nothing in life is perfect and
people should understand this. Busy hours and numerous patients can cause fatigue. After all, health
care providers are still human. Perhaps if all physicians were machines then we could expect them all
to be perfect. Performance of medical procedures will enlighten a patient of how well a hospital is
able to provide a service. This in turn will allow consumers to make the best choice when selecting a
facility for providing care. Someone needing back surgery should be able to locate and choose a
facility right for them. If a facility performs poorly with back surgeries, the public has a right to know
so that they can avoid this. People have the right to make the most well informed decision. Facility
treatment of patients should definitely be transparent. If a facility is trying to hide something it can t
be good. People have the right to know how well a facility treats their patients. This also encourages a
facility to always do their best. Ultimately, everyone wants

If rejecting an undesired embryo means preventing the genetic inheritance of a seriously debilitating
disease, then maybe some benefit can be achieved for the greater good of human kind. However, I do
not feel there is any benefit in screening embryos for desired traits, and rejecting the undesired
embryos for superficial or cosmetic reasons. For example, I would not agree with a person screening
embryos to create their epiphany of a beautiful baby. How does the knowledge that Anna was
conceived to save Kate affect Anna s and Kate s perceptions of themselves, and their relationship with
each other? For instance, you might consider the following: o Will Kate feel guilty knowing that Anna
was created to save her life? o What if Anna can t save Kate? Will Anna face lifelong psychological
damage? Does Anna feel objectified as a spare parts baby ? Does Kate feel objectified as a sick
person? I do believe the knowledge that Anna was conceived to save Kate affects both Anna s and
Kate s perceptions of themselves. This, however, does not affect their relationship with each other. In
Kate s case, I feel the knowledge that Anna was conceived to save Kate did make Kate feel guilty. She
felt like she was responsible for Anna s pain because as portrayed in the movie, Kate felt like she let
her parents hurt her sister. If Anna cannot save Kate, I do not think she will face lifelong psychological
damage because Anna did everything in her power

What Is The Theme Of Riders To The Sea
INTRODUCTION
Riders to the Sea is a one act play written by Irish playwright John Millington Synge. J.M. Synge,
after visiting the Aran Islands situated off the Irish coast, and found inspiration in the peasant life of
rural Ireland. He started making annual trips in the summer and studied the lives of ordinary people
and observed their superstitions, culture and folklore. This play was based on his experiences while he
was there. On one of his trips he heard the story of a man whose body was found washed up on the
shore on the Aran Islands. After hearing that story, he was inspired to write a play, and Riders to the
Sea was written.
It is considered to be one of the greatest one act plays of modern theatre, it combines elements of rural

Synge himself spent time listening to and recording the distinctive speech patterns of the Aran Islands
before writing the play. The rhythm of the play is defined by the rhythms of speech of the people
living on those islands, which give the play a clear sense of place, time, and community.
The characters unusual turns of phrase (for instance, The young priest is after bringing them, to mean
The young priest brought them ) can sound strange to the modern reader. They would have seemed
just as strange to audiences in 1904 of Dublin and London. The language of Riders to the Sea belongs
specifically to the fishing communities of the Aran Islands. Synge has transformed it.
Homely details add to the realism of the play. Simple words are used repeatedly, like they might be in
fairy tales. When Bartley is looking for a piece of rope, Cathleen says Give it to him, Nora; it s on a
nail by the white boards. I hung it up this morning, for the pig with the black feet was eating it. The
symbolic use of colour is also typical for the play. Significantly, the necessary rope is hung up by the
white boards that will be used for Bartley s

Barak Lost Link With The Natural World
During a world literature class, we watched a film called Baraka, which was cinematically beautiful
and restored within me this lost link with the natural world. It was a compilation of footage of people
and places all over the world, spliced together to form this story of the lives we lead in this modern
world. The film juxtaposed the hectic environment of the machinery that drives the mass production
of consumer goods with footage of serene Japanese snow monkeys relaxing in hot spring baths. This
to me represented how unnatural the world filled with technology and mass consumption in which we
live really is and how it fares poorly when compared with the natural world. It caught my eye that too
often as human beings we are caught up in the motions of life. As I was watching, I was undergoing a
self realization that we forget that we have some other purpose in life besides our monotonous
routines. We aren t just some specks under the sprawling skyscrapers and cities, we must retain our
bond with nature.
Baraka presented these subliminal images that I could easily develop into connections to my life. The
film illustrated the being of nature that exists around us and how indiscreetly we human beings are
becoming forgetful of it. Images of parents driving their children in different countries to school, to
me was a metaphor of delivering them to this promised future of success. In the film this was
juxtaposed to a scene where an innocent child confined to poverty is looking

The authors not only provided a longitudinal data that demonstrated safety of SCC DBS for patients
with MDD and BP, but also introduced DBS as an antidepressant intervention for patients with BP.
However, further changes and clarifications are needed for efficacy measurements and parameter
adjustments for changing the currents of stimulation and for reporting results. While this study has
potentially profound clinical implications, the authors should resubmit the study with changes before
being accepted in the publication. The inclusion and exclusion criteria for the screening and
preoperative evaluation phase were well defined as shown in Fig. 1. The authors defined TRD patients
as patients who were not adequately responding at least four antidepressant interventions and scoring
at least three on the Antidepressant Treatment History Form (Sackeim, 2001). This guideline to define
TRD is comparable to other controlled trials in similar experiments (i.e. DBS for patients with TRD)
(Fava, 2003). Also, the authors accounted for potential confounding variables by excluding all patients
who showed contraindications for DBS surgery and its active stimulation. The authors had a nice
balance of patients between MDD (n =10) and BP (n=7) prepared for SCC DBS surgery. However, the
following revisions on parameter adjustments are recommended to improve the paper. All patients

In other words, one can say that Super Bowl LI kind of symbolizes the war. In the beginning of the
war Germany was riding a hot hand in Adolf Hitler. Hitler was dominating all of Europe with ease just
like Matt Ryan in the first half. The young power dominated the allies up until they woke the the
sleeping beast, the USA. Right before entering the war the US was experiencing the Great Depression.
Just like at halftime when the Patriots faced the largest deficit in Super Bowl history. On December 7,
1941, the Japanese bomb Pearl Harbor which inspired many Americans to fight. Many believe that the
day the US joined the war was the turning point for the war. The turning point for the Patriots might
have been the scoreboard in a sense. Looking up at that scoreboard could ve dropped a bomb on the
Patriots sideline. Instead of feeling sorry for themselves both the soldiers and players got fired up and
wanted to make a difference. Which is also a key trait to being an American, persevering through
hardships no matter what. In the movie, Rocky the main character says, It s not about hard you get hit.
It s about how hard you can get hit and get back up. This quote completely sums up both American
soldiers and the Patriots

The Unification Of Germany And Italy
The unification of Germany and Italy was centered around the belief of nationalism. Nationalism is
the belief that one s greatest loyalty should not be to a king or an empire but to a nation of people who
share a common culture and history. The nation will then become a nation state when it has its
independent government. Bonds that will create a nation state are nationality, language, culture, and
religion. Germany and Italy both went to drastic measures to unify their countries In 1815, Italy as
divides after the Congress of Vienna. Some provinces were still under Austrian rule such as Venetia
and Lombardy. The Spanish Bourbon family ruled the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies while the Pope
controlled the Papal States. Seeing the separation of states, Mazzini, Garibaldi, and Cavour made
advancements towards unifying the country. Mazzini formed a nationalist group called Young Italy.
He called for an end to foreign rule and the unification of Italy based on the common language and
culture of the people. This movement was called the risorgimento. This plan failed and the former
rules of Italian states drove Mazzini and other nationalist leaders into exile. Next came Garibaldi who
was the leader of the Red Shirts. They were volunteers who followed Garibaldi in Southern Italy. This
nationalist group was successful in gaining control of Sicily in 1860. He then crossed into the
mainland and marched north. After Garibaldi took complete control of Southern Italy, the people

The best case is that while remote conduct or moves make put, they will probably be seen as
abnormalities as opposed to symptomatic of a more prominent and negative truth. The lessons for
enterprises are unmistakably transferable. An organization that is seen as a positive and ideal
individual from the group is probably going to have less restriction, and when as is practically
inescapable a slip occurs, it is less inclined to be seen adversely. Like some other cost of doing
business, an unmistakable case can be made that reputational capital, is a venture, worked after some

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Commercial Bank Loans
The second source of short term financing is commercial bank loan which is one of the primary
sources of short term financing, especially for small businesses (Jonathan Berk, Peter DeMarzo Jarrad

common source of short term finance. Jonathan Berk, Peter DeMarzo Jarrad Harford (2015) added in
their book Fundamentals of Corporate Finance that bank loans are typically initiated with a
promissory note which is a written statement that indicates the amount of the loan, the payment is due
and the interest rate. This note have a similarity as trade credit which has the payment s due but,

Plus, the liquidity is high enough for a big company issuing commercial paper to fill in gaps in their
cash flow and it provides the exit option to the investors to quit the investment as it is for a short term
financing. Thus, a short term financing likely to have high risk and have high in return. Meanwhile,

Zagzebski Epistemology Chapter 2 Analysis
Zagzebski 2 In chapter 2, of the book Epistemology by Zagzebski, the author concentrates on
scepticism and analyses how modern contemporary philosophers reacted to it. She explains that
scepticism is an example of an issue regarding us, humans (p.25). We apparently have a curiosity try
to find things out even if we aren t guaranteed to be successful in finding out the truth in it, nor could
we know if we failed it. She states scepticism to be most of the time concentrated on realising the
meaning of true belief, knowledge, or justified belief. (p.25). Zagzebski first tackles Hume s view on
scepticism, that we cannot justifiably conclude anything about the future based on observations about
the past . (p.26). this is meant that we cannot assume that the future is going to be like the past, so
therefore looking back on the past for future reference in simply meaningless. ... Show more content

gain knowledge, a belief must be justified (p.28), which creates the conflict between knowledge and

How Does Alison Bechdel Use The Labyrinth In Fun Home
In Fun Home, the author, Alison Bechdel uses Greek myths to allude to her relationship with her
father, Bruce, and the overarching theme of discovering and coping with their sexuality for both
Alison and Bruce. The myth of Daedalus infamous labyrinth was built to imprison the horrible
Minotaur, and the story of his son Icarus s death due to his father s desire to escape his prison.
Throughout the entire graphic novel, Bechdel intertwines references to these myths to reinforce the
turmoil within herself and her father, relating each of them to the mythical characters. The roles are
not set; there are times when Alison and Bruce represent different characters within the myth,
sometimes even playing two roles simultaneously. Alison uses the ... Show more content on

Or just disappointed by the design failure? (12). Alison assumes that Bruce cares more about how she
dresses, and how his house looks than about her. This leads into the use of the next myth, the myth of
the labyrinth, as it suggests that Bruce plays the role of Daedalus more than Alison. The most
prominent example of this is when Bechdel relates her house and how it s cared for to Daedalus
greatest feat of architecture. Early on Bruce is referenced as the Daedalus of décor (6), and performs
like Daedalus, with dazzling displays of artfulness (9). When Alison was a child, she felt herself to be
someone trapped in the labyrinth, slowly inching their way towards death, and impossible to escape
(12). As the story moves forward, Alison begins to realize that she isn t the one stuck in the labyrinth,
but it is Bruce himself. He built his mansion in a similar manner to the labyrinth; it demands fear,
intimidation to its attention to detail, and quite literally the ability to act as a labyrinth (20). In this
metaphor as Bruce as Daedalus, that means Alison plays the Minotaur, as by making Alison act and
dress a certain way, and always demanding the best care for his house, Bruce traps Alison within his

Questions On Faults And Degradation
section{Simple POdtSHS System Example} label{sec:shsexample} Since we are interested in faults
and degradation, the system will have three modes and one continuous state, i.e.: egin{itemize} item
$mathcal{Q}={q_1,q_2,q_3}={mathrm{OK},mathrm{FAULTY},mathrm{BROKEN}}$ item
$n(q_1)=n(q_2)=n(q_3)=1$ end{itemize} The modes signalize the faults of the system, with $q_1$
being the faultless mode, $q_2$ denoting a fault in the system that compromises its operation and
finally $q_3$ denoting completely broken system that is incapable of operating at all. The continuous
state $x$ denotes the degradation level of the equipment and can have any value from interval
$[0,100]$. The outputs will be observed degradation level and observed mode. Thus the observation
vector will be a two element vector $y=(y_1,y_2)$ with $y_1in,[0,100]$ meaning an observed
(estimated) level of degradation, e.g. from computing some key performance indicator (KPI) from
sensor measurements. The $y_2in{mathrm{OK},mathrm{FAULTY},mathrm{BROKEN}}$ is again
observed (or estimated) mode, e.g. from some fault detection engine in place which itself aggregates
and transforms sensor readings into this one discrete signal. The outputs are subject to sensor noise
etc., so they do not perfectly correlate with the true system state. The actions will depict the system
maintenance and thus the action space $mathcal{U}$ will be a three element set ${u_1,u_2,u_3}$
with the first element meaning doing no maintenance action, the

To What Extent Is Oliver Cromwell A Hero Or A Villain
The aim of this essay, is to answer the long awaited question Was Oliver Cromwell a hero or a villain?
This question, is a hard one to answer. James Heath once said His name and memory stink. In
opposition, Samuel Pepys said People look back and praise him. True? Or Not? This essay will argue
Edmond Ludlow s words, How glorious, but then such betrayal! Oliver Cromwell was neither a hero
nor a villain. The evidence and opinions gathered will state, how he went from good to bad, and from
bad to evil.

fought, and succeeded in all of his battles. In fact, Cromwell won so many of his battles, that Prince

parliaments hero, and the followers of parliaments hero, but not everyone s. He captured 5000
Royalists, and killed nearly 500 all in one battle, so he must be pretty good! But don t you think that

But why did it happen, and who was responsible? Charles I, became a prisoner of the New Model
Army, who tried to make a deal with him, but because he still believed that god meant him to be a
powerful king, he made a secret alliance with the Scots, (and their army), who thought that this was a
good way to win control in England. As Scotland was the backdoor to England, it seemed like a good
plan. A second civil war broke out in 1648, and so

Memory Is A Social Phenomenon
It is been seen that memory is now ubiquitous .All of Memory has been wholly observed by its
meticulous reconstitution.. When we examine a little closely to how we recollect things in our day to
day to life, we realize that the greatest number of memories come back to us when our parents, our
neighbours, our friends or the other persons recall them to us. Differences in discourse of memory
have been understood by the remnants of experience which is still lived in the warmth of tradition, in
the silence of custom, in the repetition of ancestral which have been displaced under the pressure of a
fundamentally historical sensibility.
Memory is a social phenomena. It has become the subject of controversies among observers and
analysts. The notion of memory when it is defined, can be either understood as internal or inward
memory and external memory, or personal memory or social memory(Halbwach 1950, 52). Narratives
about the past by nations and states are not something new. When we reflect upon them , we make
many discoveries ; we discover the shape and the why of the events. (ibid: 55). But the explosion of
the memorial phenomenon by largely, is increased from the utterance of specific groups, whether
intranational or transnational groups, and from the range of scales on which the narrative of past
experience is legitimately expressed. A social group s identity is constructed with narratives and
traditions that are created to give its members a sense of an community.

Gender, Social, And Social Sciences And Humanities
gender role is a theoretical construct in the social sciences and humanities that refers to a set of social
and behavioral norms that, within a specific culture, are widely considered to be socially appropriate
for individuals of a specific sex. Socially accepted gender roles differ widely between different
cultures.
Sex is what we are categorized based on our reproductive organs; female or male. Sex is pretty so
concrete, for the most part, unless you are born with some rare genetic sex chromosomal disorder.
Gender, it, well can be harder to determine. Gender is merely the state of being male or female. Like
with the states of water, the state of being male or female, can be manipulated or changed. With each
gender comes certain gender roles. These roles are to help accentuate one s sex to society. Gender
roles have been around for centuries. The greatest thing we notice, when it comes to gender roles, is
how much they vary from culture to culture.
Since marriage constitutes slavery for women, it is clear that the women s movement must concentrate
on attacking this institution. Freedom for women cannot be won without the abolition of marriage.
Sheila Cronin

not uncommon to see mothers being the predominant caretakers of home, children, and anything

Destiny In The Aeneid
Many may tell themselves, I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul , William Ernest
Henley s, Invictus. Individuals often believe life is independent of outside forces; one does not often
ponder whether situations that introduce decisions or experiences are controlled by fate and the gods.
In Virgil s The Aeneid, he introduces the notion that we are all subject to the workings of fate
regardless of our will or desire; this is shown through the tragic romance between Aeneas, a Trojan,
and Dido, the queen of Carthage. Their love and lives are a combination of free will, fate, and the
work of the gods. We are all brought into the world without choice, thus lack the will to change our
destiny from birth. In the end, however it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The gods do not have power over fate, but this not discourage their usage of influence within human
lives.
Once Dido s and Aeneas love has been set on its course, he receives word from the god Mercury to
return to his duties for Troy, Blind to your own realm, oblivious to your fate! (Virgil, p.136) Aeneas
desires the love of Dido, but recognizes his obligation to found Rome. This is where a complication
arises regarding fate. Aeneas strayed from his destiny, moving alongside his desires rather than uniting
his aspirations with his obligations, thus creating conflict within his life and difficulties weighing the
importance of his obligations and desires. The pressures of fate and the gods were not in Aeneas
control; however, it was his own decision to fall in love with Dido and ignore his mission, even if
momentarily. As humans we are obligated to one another regardless of desire.
Later, Aeneas decides to return to the path molded for him: in spite of all he obeys the gods commands
and back he goes to his ships. (Virgil, p. 141) Aeneas ignores his passion for Dido and continues on
his path of obligation to Troy. It was not the decision of the gods, nor the doing of fate; Aeneas
decisions are his own. However, if Aeneas would have strayed towards his desires, he would have
continuously ended up within the line of his destiny because regardless of our wants we ultimately
walk within the parameters Fate allows. Virgil

Radha, as the only one of all the characters in the novels is a true representing of the modern Indian

new Indian woman is of course derived primarily from the urban educated middle class woman (Rajan

of her origin as a daughter of a middle class traditional family, while studying and in the years

This dilemma is inevitably the theme of the novel and Saadiya s pursuit of freedom can be seen as a
variation on the theme. The closer to the ideal of a housewife Radha gets, the more she feels the need
to escape. The more boundaries she crosses, however, the more she tends to get back to her role of a
wife. The longing for adventure as well as the guilt she feels while pursuing it is the main driving
power that makes her sway between her duty to Shyam and her attraction to Chris. The two men stand
for a safe yet dull and tiring life full of stereotypes in which she is unable to realise herself fully on
one hand and an exciting yet strange life full of the unexpected that makes her feel alive again. She
feels trapped by the expectation that are applied to her, such as having a baby or being a glossy, silly
wife (Nair 61) and struggles to find a way out so that she could breath freely. While Chris gives her, at
least in her eyes, the space she needs in able to breathe freely, Shyam expects her to behave in the way
his situation requires, denying her own individual choices. His expectations ( Does she ever consider
that such silly acts have repercussions? Besides, what will my friends and their wives say if they find
out? We have a place in society. A standing that Radha has always treated rather carelessly ) stand in a
contrast to Radha s feelings. (nair 70)12

The Election Of Judges And Legislatures
Judges and legislators are elected the same way, through partisan elections. They as Democrats and
Republicans and are elected by the public, or popular vote an act of voting by the electorate of a
country or area. Like almost everything in the world, there are advantages and disadvantages to the
choices we make, and the same goes for who we elect as judges. One of the advantages of electing
judges, especially being voted by the public, is that they make decisions that accommodate to the
people , which is a very democratic way to look at it, but it gets them elected by the people. Like the
presidential candidates, the people get to see the judges and vote on which one they believe will do
right for the people, and also like the presidential elections it is a popularity contest. The judges need
to appeal to the people, talk up a big game, make themselves known among the people. If the judges
do not do what the people see as right, the people will argue and fight it until what they want or
believe in then the people will not vote for them. A big disadvantage to the people selecting the judges
is that the judges will try to please the people, even if it does not coordinate with what the law
says. Our judges should be following the law, not the people, but that is how our world works
nowadays. Second, selecting judges makes them less independent, they have to campaign to get
elected and re elected, that requires them to have a lot of money.

5. Assumed a meeting would resolve all problems.
6. Assumed the customer would be happy with whatever product was developed and launched.
7. Assumed Kelly was being a smart ass because he questioned his knowledge about QC.
Pat argued that the scanner needed to be launched in retail, not banks or other easy markets. He also
argued with Chris, Kelly s manager, that Kelly informed him that it would not be a problem to expand
the iScanner. Another argument he made is he had bigger problems than to listen to than answering
other questions presented by other staff members. Pats decision to launch a new product in a new
market was sound. To be the first company on the market with a new product to get ahead of your
competitors is a good market strategy. His idea to use an outside contractor was unsound because we
are already in a budget deficit and there is now guarantee that the contractor would have the product
completed in time. His statement about having bigger problems than to answer questions from other
staff members was an emotional one. I think he felt nobody wanted to work with

How Does Maya Angelou Relate To Racism
Maya Angelou and the Theme of Racism
Poems provide a new insight and portray many meanings. Maya Angelou, born in 1928, was a highly
achieved, versatile woman whom is an author, poet, dancer, and actress. In her poems and in life,
racism is integrated. This is seen in Angelou s familial and other life experiences, the literary devices
seen in Still I Rise, and the extension of the metaphor in Caged Bird.
Maya Angelou was born in St. Louis, MO and soon later moved to a segregated part of AK, known as
Stamps. This relocation was because of her parents divorce and Angelou was only 3 when it
happened. When this 7 year old girl was visiting her mother back in MO, she suffered at the hands of a
family associate (Maya Angelou Biography). According to Poetry Foundation, Maya was raped by her
mother s boyfriend. As a result of this crime , Maya s uncles killed this man. This man was able to be
killed because seeing Angelou was black, this man only received a one day sentence for the rape. This
time, 1930 s, was still a time for racism. As a child, these traumatic events caused ... Show more

  • 2. My Reflection On The Court Trip This is a report of my reflection on the court trip that my class, CLU 3M attened on May 18, 2016. This report contains my reflection on what I did that day, what I saw, and my opinion on our judicial system. In this report some of the terms that I recognized during the trips are bolded, and I have elaborated on the meanings of the terms. I will conclude this report with my opinion the court process. Brad and I walked into the provincial court on Wyndham street at approximately 8:40 am. Provincial courts are the lower courts in the jurisdiction. As soon as I noticed 4 clipboards that had pages with a list of names and timing on them, this was also referred as a docket. The names were the offenders of the case, and there time represented their trial time. An offender is the person who had committed the illegal act. As I walked down the narrow hall I joined in with the rest of the class. We were sitting in the waiting area, and near the sign that said duty counsel. Duty counsels are lawyers that can give the accused advise on what they should when the accused do not have a lawyer. As we waited a lawyer came outside of the office and yelled, If anybody needs duty counsel . I noticed there were two court rooms, both had their own dockets. The court room was separated by the waiting area, and the vending machine. As I waited for Mr. Fast to come, I looked around and saw some really sketchy looking people, I even recognized two from my elementary school. There were allot of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Follicle Stimulating Hormone Research Paper Hormones released from the anterior pituitary are gonadotropins and it has two FSH and LH. Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) has to do with the ovaries, stimulates the development of eggs and follicles for females. In males the testes are involved and stimulates production of sperm. Luteinizing hormone (LH) functions to tell the ovaries and testes to make other hormones. For example, in females it stimulates ovulation and secretes estrogen. In males the stimulation of interstitial cells of testes secretes testosterone. Thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) stimulates growth of thyroid gland and the secretion of thyroid hormone T3 and T4. In the posterior pituitary hormones released are ADH and Oxytocin. Antidiuretic hormone (ADH) targets the kidneys to raise water retention to reduce urine for stable blood pressure. Oxytocin is the release of labor contractions, lactation of milk from mothers when they feel their baby close to them and emotional bonding. 8. They both affect cells trying to bind to receptors but in different ways hydrophobic hormones are intracellular receptors that are inside the cell. Hydrophilic hormones act as via membrane bound receptors that are outside the cell. They are polypeptides and proteins, water loving, and modify existing metabolic proteins. Hydrophobic contain lipids and fats, it also turns on gene transcription. 9. They are all located in the pancreas and deal with glucose. Insulin is a hypoglycemic hormone which decreases blood glucose and glucagon is the opposite it s a hyperglycemic. Glucagon increases glucose and causes the liver to break down glycogen. 10. • 4. Hurricane Katrina Effect On Louisiana Hurricane in Katrina and the Effect on Louisiana Like most states and countries positioned near large bodies of water, natural disasters and global epidemic have taken a toll on Louisiana s climate and environments. Hurricane Katrina had a major effect on Louisiana. For example, its coastline, and environment was effected. Hurricane Katrina is one of the deadliest hurricanes that ever hit the United States. It hit a couple of cities, but it hit the city of New Orleans, Louisiana the hardest. New Orleans was very popular for tourists before Katrina hit, and still is (Jervis, 2015). After it hit New Orleans, it left many people devastated; killing an estimated amount of 1,833 people. Many of people were left homeless. There are still places ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I know this because in the passage it states Wetlands along the southern coastlines of the United States serve as natural speed bumps to approaching hurricanes by starving them of warm ocean water and creating physical barriers to surging flood waters. However, in the last 100 years, the construction of levees and canals has turned thousands of square miles of wetland habitat into open water. This video from NOVA science NOW explores the importance of these critical habitats and examines the damage Hurricane Katrina caused to one stretch of Louisiana wetland (History 2010). The hurricane caused destruction in wildlife, as well as habitats. The winds were so strong that it tore down trees, almost five million acres of forest over Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama were damaged by Hurricane Katrina. That caused animals to have to move to a different location because of the loss of their habitat. And on the other hand Damaged forests increase the risk of wildfire, insect infestation, and the establishment of invasive species. Furthermore, as all the dead trees decompose, they release substantial carbon dioxide to the atmosphere, exacerbating global warming (History ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Habeas Corpus And The War On Terror Habeas Corpus and the War on Terror Joshua Beasley POL201: American National Government Mark Ladd January 12, 2015 Habeas Corpus and the War on Terror Every person has the right to undergo a judicial hearing to avoid illegal detention. However, if that person poses threat to the society and the state, there are instances that the said right is overseen where these types of people are quickly detained after capturing. The writ of Habeas Corpus gives the rights to the captured people to undergo judicial trial. But there is also an article in the U.S. Constitution that states that the writ of Habeas Corpus can only be lifted if the people being questioned in involved in a rebellion or pose a threat to the safety of the public. That is why the administration of the previous U.S. President Bush detained all of the people whom they tagged as terrorist and were captured in the war on Afghanistan in 2001. The question now is to what extend must be the actions of an individual in order to undergo proper trial hearing or to just be put in imprisonment without any hearings or trials done? The purpose of this paper is to review issues within Habeas Corpus and GITMO, discuss how policies changing over time affect the dynamic state of United States, and how these changes can make a big impact to the future law making and practice of the country that is why this issue must be evaluated and examined. The Legal Information Institute of the Cornell University Law School (n.d.) said ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Compare And Contrast The Battle Of Cold Harbor Vs Gaines Mill Cold Harbor vs. Gaines Mill Even though the battle of Gaines Mill took place at the same battleground as the battle of Cold Harbor, the battle of Cold Harbor and the battle of Gaines mill were not nearly the same. The battle of Gaines Mill was a battle fought in the Civil War. It took place on June 27, 1862 in a small town located about 10 miles from Richmond. It lasted one to two hours. This battle resulted in a Confederate victory. General Robert Lee commanded the Confederate army and General George McClellan commanded the Union army. This town was so important to the Union army that they tried capturing the same town two years later! It was important because they needed to capture Cold Harbor in order to capture the Confederate capitol of Richmond, Virginia. The battle of Cold Harbor was located in the same place as Gaines Mill. It took place on May 31 and ended on June 12. General Grant and his Union army went up against General Lee and his Confederate army. Lee had won again. Grant and his army would have won the battle of Cold Harbor but his plan was ruined. Grant had to postpone the battle to June third instead of June second because he needed to wait for more troops to arrive. This gave Lee more time to get ready for the attack and the next day, the Union army got slaughtered. These battles were not nearly the same because General George McClellan commanded the Union troops in the battle of Gaines Mill and General Ulysses Grant commanded the Union troops in ... Radiocarbon Dating Organic archaeological specimens, matter that was once living, such as bone, shells, skins, fibers, wool, etc., are all dated by use of radiocarbon dating (anything that once lived). The radiocarbon dating process measures the Carbon 14 isotopes within the organic material being examined. This method measures the radioactive emissions from the once living matter, comparing its activity with the equilibrium level of living things, a measurement of the time elapsed can be made. The radioactive isotope within the artifact will help determine the objects age. 2. This dating method is a geochemical method, which determines the age of obsidian (volcanic glass) by measuring the layer of film present on the rock that has been formed by diffusing water over time onto the surface of the artifact. The obsidian, over time, absorbs water when exposed to air. Therefore differentiating conditions the rock is exposed to will determine the amount of water the sample absorbs. In order to use obsidian hydrations for absolute dating, the conditions that the materials have been exposed to must be understood, (i.e. climate conditions, location of excavation will determine hydration levels within the sample), or comparing the material to samples of a known ... • 9. Narrative Essay On High School Basketball My freshman year of high school basketball was almost coming to an end. Our record was pretty stellar, and we needed one more win to get the wildcard, which meant we would automatically make it to state. My team was playing against Malcolm, in a really tight game. We were down by two points and Coach Henkel put me in to shoot a three pointer, but both of our hopes and dreams were short lived. I missed the shot, and I lost the game for us. I was devastated, and so was everyone else. As I sat in the locker room, all I could do was stare at the ground. The only thing running through my mind was, no one is going to trust me with the ball anymore or worse yet, everyone is going to be mad at me. These thoughts were slowly tearing me down, day by day. But that was until Coach Henkel talked to me, and told me not to worry about missing the shot. He told me everyone misses, and that he wasn t to worried. So, I was given two options, dwell on the past and let that affect my playing, or forget about it and move on. I have been given multiple opportunities where not dwelling on the past has come into play. In the eighth grade I helped someone cheat on a test, and got caught. Yes, it was a bad decision and I have definitely learned from it. I had to serve a detention and then always thought that Mr. Sass was going to hate me forever. But I didn t dwell on what happened and learned from my mistakes. I had to learn to move on because the past was the past. Thinking about the mistake I had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The Book of Acts Essay The Book of Acts The book of Acts is known as the birth of the church . Acts recounts the story of the early church from the time of Jesus ascension to Paul s arrival as a prisoner in Rome. Acts was written by the author of Luke s gospel, Luke. Although the author does not name himself, evidence from the book itself proves that the author was Luke. Luke was a physician. Scriptural evidence of this includes Colossians 4:14: Our dear friend Luke, the doctor, and Demas send greetings. Luke often used medical language. For instance, he finds the sailors bandaging the ship in Acts 27:17: When the men had hoisted in aboard, they passed ropes under the ship itself to hold it together. Fearing that they would run ... Acts 1:1: In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach until the day he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen. Luke 1: 3 4: (3) Therefore, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, it seemed good also to me to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, (4) so that you may know the certainty of things you have been taught. Because Luke s first book was written to Theophilus as was Acts, Luke must be the author of both. Another reason to believe that Luke is the author of Acts is the way both the book of Acts and Luke are written. The vocabulary, grammar and style are not only consistent throughout both gospels. Luke was an eyewitness of some of the events in chapters 16 28, where he changes his they statements to we statements. An example of this is in Acts16:10 11, 16: (10) And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavored to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them. (11) Therefore loosing from Troas, we came with a straight course to Samothracia and the next day to Neapolis. Nothing in life is perfect and people should understand this. Busy hours and numerous patients can cause fatigue. After all, health care providers are still human. Perhaps if all physicians were machines then we could expect them all to be perfect. Performance of medical procedures will enlighten a patient of how well a hospital is able to provide a service. This in turn will allow consumers to make the best choice when selecting a facility for providing care. Someone needing back surgery should be able to locate and choose a facility right for them. If a facility performs poorly with back surgeries, the public has a right to know so that they can avoid this. People have the right to make the most well informed decision. Barak Lost Link With The Natural World During a world literature class, we watched a film called Baraka, which was cinematically beautiful and restored within me this lost link with the natural world. It was a compilation of footage of people and places all over the world, spliced together to form this story of the lives we lead in this modern world. The film juxtaposed the hectic environment of the machinery that drives the mass production of consumer goods with footage of serene Japanese snow monkeys relaxing in hot spring baths. This to me represented how unnatural the world filled with technology and mass consumption in which we live really is and how it fares poorly when compared with the natural world. It caught my eye that too often as human beings we are caught up in the motions of life. As I was watching, I was undergoing a self realization that we forget that we have some other purpose in life besides our monotonous routines. We aren t just some specks under the sprawling skyscrapers and cities, we must retain our bond with nature. Baraka presented these subliminal images that I could easily develop into connections to my life. The film illustrated the being of nature that exists around us and how indiscreetly we human beings are becoming forgetful of it. While this study has potentially profound clinical implications, the authors should resubmit the study with changes before being accepted in the publication. The inclusion and exclusion criteria for the screening and preoperative evaluation phase were well defined as shown in Fig. 1. This guideline to define TRD is comparable to other controlled trials in similar experiments (i.e. DBS for patients with TRD) (Fava, 2003). The continuous state $x$ denotes the degradation level of the equipment and can have any value from interval $[0,100]$. The outputs will be observed degradation level and observed mode. If the judges do not do what the people see as right, the people will argue and fight it until what they want or believe in then the people will not vote for them. A big disadvantage to the people selecting the judges is that the judges will try to please the people, even if it does not coordinate with what the law says. Our judges should be following the law, not the people, but that is how our world works nowadays. Second, selecting judges makes them less independent, they have to campaign to get elected and re elected, that requires them to have a lot of money. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Moretti, M.B.A. September 12, 2006 I am the newly hired Vice President of Organizational Development. My responsibilities include creating the Organizational Development Department. I look forward to working with all of you especially with finding a new and improved product based on our already developed retinal scanning system iScanner. First of all I am going to discuss assumptions made by Kelly Thomas, Pat Lambert, Cliff O Connor and Chris Martinas. After each employee assumptions will be their arguments and my evaluation of whether the argument is sound or unsound and why. Kelly Thomas – Senior Engineer, Product Development 1. Assumed that Pat, Director of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 2. Assumed programmers had plenty of time to work on new product even though he knew staff was cut last year. 3. Assumed because they were not agreeing with him they were not committed to the new product. 4. Assumed that the job could be done by outside contractors in the specified time frame. Also with money being a problem. He also argued with Chris, Kelly s manager, that Kelly informed him that it would not be a problem to expand the iScanner. Another argument he made is he had bigger problems than to listen to than answering other questions presented by other staff members. Pats decision to launch a new product in a new market was sound. To be the first company on the market with a new product to get ahead of your competitors is a good market strategy. His idea to use an outside contractor was unsound because we are already in a budget deficit and there is now guarantee that the contractor would have the product completed in time. His statement about having bigger problems than to answer questions from other staff members was an emotional one. I think he felt nobody wanted to work with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
