Laura Hillenbrand s Unbroken
War does horrible things to human beings, to societies. It brings out the best, but most often the
worst, in our human nature (Engel). Louie Zamperini, the main character in Hillenbrand s
Unbroken, grew up as a young boy always up to trouble. Despite his problematic youth he grew up
to become a successful Olympian runner and a high ranking officer during WWII. When during
WWII, when he became a prisoner of warthe lessons he learned growing up helped him prevail

Gender Inequalities In Sports
The problem that this article addressed is the unequal attention that men get in the media compared
to women, specifically in sports. The purpose of this article was to see if men and women were
getting the same amount of media attention in college basketball. This study mainly looked to the
coverage that men and women college basketballgot on the internet during the time of March
Madness. This study also focused on the biggest sports media program with ESPN. While the
participation in sports for women has increased tremendously since the title IX enactment, the
coverage of women sports, specifically on the internet, has not increased as tremendously. This
article talks about how this can affect young women. It says that while statistically males visit
sports websites more, in the year the article was published the growth of women visiting sports
websites was more than men. If more female athletes were shown on these sites it might lead to
younger women wanting to lead healthier lives.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Female athletes that were in the print articles, if any, were often treated as insignificant by the
use of smaller articles or smaller pictures and hiding them deep in the print away from the front
page. This article showed these inequalities of coverage in sports print media in a number of
ways. They used research from big companies like Sports Illustrated all the way down to local
newspapers coverage of high school sports. One of the specific things it talked about was the
percentage difference of the number of articles in Sports Illustrated about women vs. those about
men. This background of past print media differences was a good set up for the discussion of the
internet media s coverage of NCAA women s basketball compared to NCAA men s

Safe Space
Due to increased diversity on College campuses, colleges are changing and developing new ways
to become more inclusive in order to create environments where a mix of student cultures,
ethnicities, races, socioeconomic statuses and genders can feel comfortable sharing the same
campus space. One way to help create this environment is through using trigger warnings
(warnings before content to help alert students who may have suffered from trauma in an event
like war to avoid content that might bring back recurring panic attacks or flashbacks) and through
creating Safe Spaces . Safe spaces is a term for an area or forum where either a marginalized group
are not supposed to face standard mainstream stereotypes and marginalization, or in which... Show

Safe spaces only prolongs the inevitable, which is facing the problem causing students
discomfort. If students do not face their issues and continue to use safe spaces as a means to
retreat then they are more acceptable to anxiety and the cognitive distortions caused by it. The
use of trigger warnings will help to identify uncomfortable material. While Raising awareness
will help with the understanding of the overall issue of free. The internet is a vast world of
information ready to be explored, Forums and social networks make it easy to connect with
people who might be going through the same problems. Students can also use these as a means
to share thoughts and feeling. Lastly counseling would fill in the gap in where there can be
empathy for those who need it. Usually concolors have an office, students and go into their off
with agreement that what is said there will not be shared with anyone. Which I believe already
works a safe space. Overall the use for safe space would become no more and students will have a
great role in being responsible for their emotional health. They would not old know how to feel
confident but they ll also become educated on their

Reflection Of Public Relations
Harlow (1976) defines public relations (PR) practice as the distinctive management function which
helps establish and maintain mutual lines of communications, understanding, acceptance and
cooperation between an organisation and its publics . PR plays an important role in organisations
because they are representing a broader group of activities, even encompassing all communication
activities of an organisation (Lee, 2011). To put in a laymen term, public relationspractitioners (PR)
work to build long term relationships among individuals and institutions through planned
promotions of goods, services, and images of a company to create a good will for a person, place,
and event and also to helps management to be informed and responsive to public opinion to further
improve the organisation.
In my general view of public relations is the management of complex interactions between an
organisation and it s publics or stakeholders. To me, this definition encompasses many different
things. Through my three week s experience working in Bridges PR Events, I ve learned that a
public relations practitioner wears multiple hats. Writing press releases, constantly keeping in

media, PR professions must keep up with the new technology that is being invented. Through
Twitter, blogs, and Facebook, YouTube and other forms of social media, a company can be
praised or totally ripped apart within minutes when it introduces new range of goods or services. It

Create a Crisis Management Plan
The purpose of this assignment is to create a crisis management plan for Mentorship Academy

Each coach must assist in performing regularly scheduled facility inspections to insure safety.
When using outdoor and indoor facilities, it is important to performed scheduled inspections to
insure safety for the student athletes, coaches and spectators. Although every sport have a different
safety need as it pertains to facilities. That s why it is important for facilities to have an inspection
before the spectators are allowed in the venue. Coaches must also be aware of the athletics health
when it pertains to heat exhaustion. Coaches also have a duty to protect the students from injury
with the proper equipment. If there is a sport that has a greater risk of injury the then there should
be a higher need for equipment protection. When it pertains to football each player must have
shoulder pads, helmet, mouth piece, thigh pads and knee pads.
However, even though athletes have to wear the safety equipment in order to participate in any
sport, the coaches have the responsibility to inform the parents and the students about the inherent
risks for the sport. Therefore all parents should also be aware of the specific inherent risks per sport,
athletes insurance, equipment, transportation and expectations for players and fans.
As a part of any risk management planning there should be an emergency medical plans. As athletic
injuries occur during the event of a game or practice, the athletic training staff must assist with the
planning to provide the proper

Bella because her mother was her best friend. She made this decision so her mother could travel

How To Write An Essay About Kendrick Lamar
Concert Review: Kendrick Lamar To begin I d like to mention that I love Kendrick Lamar; to
me he is a lyrical genius especially in an era where rap has changed to an even more violent tone.
Most people could all agree that he is the most stimulating and uplifting rapper for this current
generation. Hip hop seemed to need Kendrick Lamar and as we can tell his positive influence is
spreading across the nation as he recently won a Grammy topping even more known rappers such
as drake. In this day and age most successful rappers make a living and fan base off of negative
and criminal action. Despite that Kendrick Lamar tries to spread positivity in his music and

his fans that one point he even started picking from the crowd up the stage to sing along with
him. Harmony was created between Kendrick and the crowd immediately and we could enjoy the
special moment. To slow down a bit the fans were then exploited to tracks with much deeper tones
and textures. With a track such as The blacker the berry the crowd couldn t help but to just
appreciate the hard work the performer was putting into this piece. Just by Kendrick Lamar s face
we could tell the amount of meaning and emotion this track hold within him. To show our
appreciation it seemed like everyone in the crowd read each other s minds as we all raised our
hands and waved them acknowledging the young rappers motivation. To show his appreciation
Kendrick Lamar even went on to mention how the city of Houston had showed him much love
over the years and truly appreciated the support he had received in order to earn the position that
he is in today. This immediately gave off the feeling of being united and trying to understand

Analyzing
Once the scanning of the factors that has been identified is done, it has to be analysed to know the
impact on the business at different stages of the business. Again there are several tools available
for analyzing the scanned environmental variables which could be used for scenario building
cases, benchmarking and for even Delphi techniques. In all the tools that is being used for
analyzing would gather the data and analyse in the similar fashion. In this type of analysis
conducted on the gathered information, mean median, mode, correlation and regression are
calculated. The method of analyzing may vary depending upon the factor that is being analysed
(Kotler P. and Lee R. 2008).
Forecasting
When the environmental factors are analysed, it is important to make it clear for the organisation
regarding the impact of the environmental factor that could be made on the organisation in the near
future. The main reason for analyzing the current data with the historical data is to forecast the
impact that could be made on the organisation. from the forecast that has been made on the
environmental factors, a business strategy is devised by the management in order to manage the
business in response to the analysis carried out.
The environmental analysis is carried out on the internal and the external business environmental
factors. The internal analysis describes the strength, weakness, opportunities and the threats of the

The International Ecotourism Society
Often times when people think think of the environment they think of fields, lakes, or wild animals.
This, however, is no longer the reality of our world today. Because of human impacts on the
environment, fields have been turned to shopping malls, lakes have been dried up, and
undomesticated creatures are being wiped out by the thousands. One main perpetrator of this
destruction is ecotourism. ecotourism is defined as, travel to natural areas in ways that conserve the
environment and improve the welfare of local people. ( Significance of Protecting Natural Sites for
Ecotourism Development ). The term ecotourism was first used in the 1970 s, but became popular
only in 1990 when the International Ecotourism Society (TIES) was founded. The main goals of
ecotourism were to have a means for people to tour natural places, but without having a negative
impact on the environment. ( Ecotourism ). This, however, has not been the case. Preservation of
the environment is no longer the main goal of ecotourism companies, for the great profits have
become many of their main concerns. The positives aspects of ecotourism are not worth the
extinction of endangered animals, the overuse of natural resources, and the disturbance of local
communities.
Ecotourism has had a wide and vast history, spanning all around the globe. The International
Ecotourism Society (TIES) was first founded in 1990 and is the world s longest running ecotourism
company. TIES has 5 main principles that it says it

Foreign Market Entry Modes Essay
Why do companies entry foreign Markets? A company may be looking to increase profits and
sales. They can accomplish this by creating new markets in foreign countries or they may
increase sales in a foreign market that is growing faster than the domestic market. Companies also
go abroad to protect their home market. By challenging a competitor in their own market it may
prevent that competitor from challenging a company in its own home market. Thirdly, companies
may be going abroad in search of lower production costs or in search of a guaranteed supply of
raw materials. (Ball, Geringer et al. 2010) When a company decides to enter a foreign market there
are several entry options available. The options include exporting, licensing, joint... Show more

Opposite to market concentrators, market spreader companies take a more active approach to
export marketing, have a greater focus on sales objectives, and tend to focus less on profitability.
The markets are small and niche markets. Unlike market concentrators, these companies have a
greater tolerance to risk. (Katsikea, Theodosiou et al. 2005) When a company licenses a product
or service one firm (the licensor) will grant to another firm (the licensee) the right to use any kind
of expertise such as manufacturing processes (patented or on unpatented), marketing procedures,
and trademarks for one or more of the licensor s products. (Ball, Geringer et al. 2010) The amount
of control a company has over their product will vary based on the agreement. Granting a license to
an unrelated party will offer the least amount of control where a license can be granted to a wholly
owned subsidiary allowing a company to retain control over the product or service. (Hill, Hwang
et al. 1990) An advantage of licensing is the licensee bears much of the startup costs and the costs
associated with selling in the foreign market unless the licensee is a wholly owned subsidiary
which the cost will ultimately be the responsibility of the parent company. (Hill, Hwang et al. 1990)
The risk associated with licensing to another company that is not wholly owned is by allowing a

Rhetorical Analysis Of Henry s Speech
Paragraph One
In the beginning of the speech, Henry uses a cautious but also assertive tone.
In delivering this speech, Henry intended to highlight the problems caused by Britain, and convince
the American people to fight back against British rule.
Phrases such as the majesty of heaven, which I revere above all earthly kings and nothing less then
a question of freedom or slavery showcase usage of antithesis in the speech.
Henry is appealing to the patriotism and emotions of his audience by mentioning things such as a
question of freedom or slavery , the great responsibility which we hold to God and our country ,
and the very worth gentlemen who have just addressed the House .
By comparing the majesty of heaven to earthly kings , Henry is appealing to ethos, or the audience
s concept of ethics.
The phrase freely, and without reserve is an example of parallelism. References to God are an
example of allusion, as most of Henry s audience practiced Christianity. Paragraph Two
The purpose of this section of the talk is to show people s desire to ignore the truth about the state
of their country, and to warn against doing so.
Henry is trying to show how one s default or natural response to the hardships they were facing at
the hands of British rule might be to turn their head the other way.
Henry s reference to Ezekiel 12:2 ( having eyes, see not, and, having ears, hear not ) was a way to
draw attention to injustices that he saw among the American people. Because most

Labor Unions Dbq
The Industrial Revolution brought new production methods to the United States. However, the new
technology and industries that were created as a result also created unfair working conditions.
Workers began to join together to fight against their greedy bosses. These groups became known as
labor unions. Three labor unions that improved working conditions are the National Education
Association, the Knights of Labor and the American Federation of Labor.
Labor unions resulted in a positive impact on society. A labor union is an organization intended
to represent the collective interests of workers in negotiations with employers over wages,
hours, benefits and working conditions (Source 2). Labor unions date back as of 1768, when
journeymen tailors in New York City struck to protest a wage reduction (Source 3). People have
been fighting for fair working rights for years. As you can see it has taken a very long time to
get where we are today. It took a lot fights, hours, and hard work to get the fair working rights we
wanted. Many generations continued the fight and made these labor unions for the better of our
people. The labor movement has given the American worker benefits that today are often taken
for granted, such as overtime laws, child labor laws, and minimum wages (Source 3). Brave
people stood up to these greedy business owners even if it meant not coming home with food for
the day. Why? So people like us can live a stress free life and not have to worry about

What Are The Long Term Causes Of The 1905 Revolution
The 1905 Russia revolution began in St Petersburg, where Father Gapon and many other working
people marched to the Tsar. They were upset with the Russian government and Tsar as he would
not share any of his power with the people. Long term factors played a major role in the march,
these included harsh working conditions for peasants and their wages. The loss in the Russo
Japanese war led to even worse working conditions, but the spark that ignited the fire of the 1905
revolution was inevitably Bloody Sunday.
A long term cause of the Bloody Sunday massacre was the harsh conditions that many Russians
suffered under. Many of the Russian peasants were very unhappy about the living conditions
that they suffered in every day. They were also very upset with how the land was divided, as
they were unable to make a reasonable profit that could sustain their family from the little strips
of land they were given. The working class were forced to live in cramped, damp, tight barracks
that offered no kind of privacy. On top of their horrible working conditions these people were
forced to work long tough days, without breaks and all for low wages that wouldn t sufficiently

The Russo Japanese war was soon to be known as the first great war of the 20th century, this war
lasted for over 18 months from 8th February 1904 to 5th September 1905. It began because of the
rival ambitions of the Russian empire and the empire of Japan over Manchuria and Korea.
Nicholas II wished to expand his Russian empire into Asia and this triggered the beginning of a
disastrous war effort for Russia. By underestimating the advancement of Japan s industrial and
military development, the Tsar humiliated her own prestigious navy and his empire on the world
stage. The war was not only humiliating for Russia but also had an economic impact on their
economy, which sparked the revolution of

Why Is Nietzsche God Is Not Dead
God s not dead and we did not kill him, Nietzsche did. Nietzsche comes up with a claim that God
is dead. He supports this claim by describing a madman frantically running around town looking
for an honest person, he is looking for God. Their responses are laughter assuming the man is
crazy. The madman eventually comes to the conclusion that humanity is unaware of the death of
God and its significance. The significance will take time to reach the people. Nietzsche s way of
saying God is deadis a way of claiming freedom over his own life and trying to bandwagon others
on to it. He feels the need to not have to obey any higher authority and in this he starts a movement
of free will and justifies it by attempting to bring other people along with him. While Nietzsche can
make convincing claims about the death of God, God is not dead.... Show more content on

Well from Nietzsche s stand point God being dead means there are no longer any moral values
that we would need to follow. Humanity has turned away from obedience and has started to find
its own way in life. We no longer need someone to look to or to put our hope in. He even makes
the point that the believers are living as if God is dead. But are they really believers if they aren
t following the practices? Nietzsche brings a sense of freedom into the equation, Indeed, at
hearing the news old god is dead , we philosophers and free spirits feel illuminated by a new dawn;
our heart overflows with gratitude, amazement, forebodings, expectation finally the horizon seems
clear again, even if not bright; finally our ships may set out again... Nietzsche isn t arguing that
God is dead and for atheism, he is arguing from it. It is taken as a starting point, not a destination.
He isn t trying to show us God doesn t exist; he is simply saying God can t be taken seriously

Segment Reporting And Information Disclosure
Introduction
Segment reporting is the disaggregation of a reporting entity s financial reports into segments. This
paper investigates whether segment reporting is worthwhile and whether the requirements of the
new segment reporting standard (IFRS 8) have had an impact on the way companies disclose
segment information.
Significance of Segment Reporting
Segment reporting is integral to the process of investment analysis and there is a common
agreement among financial analysts that such information is essential to their work. Previous
literature has found that segment information disclosure can increase security valuation and can
make future earnings better. It is likely for a firm with diversified geographic and/or business
operations, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, in 1968 more than 50% of the mergers comprised of firms from different lines of
business. Therefore, financial reporting problems from unrelated business mergers resulted in
criticism from investors and the only solution was segmental disclosure. There is no doubt that
segment reporting is a contentious issue: the nature of the information disclosed seems to be
commercially sensitive. The significance of segment information, however, cannot be denied.
Whether or not segmental reporting is worthwhile is a question (a theoretical issue) that can be
resolved logically. For an objective answer, we should consider the advantages and disadvantages of
segment reporting. Consolidated financial statements offer a comprehensive view of entity s
financial performance. Such aggregation process leads to information loss. It also can t reveal
profitable or unprofitable subsidiaries and divisions which can be considered high risk owing to
excessive debt levels can also escape attention. Thus, segment disclosures enable a more informed
assessment of performance and associated risks of an organization i.e. it is in the best interests of
the investors because they use such information to allocate their resources efficiently. Segment
reporting is also a good sign of managerial stewardship. Two factors which support this are, first,
bad investment decisions will be emphasized and secondly, segment s results

add to or redefine the scope of the project. 2.2 Observe Performance Once a control process is in
place, the project manager and stakeholders must then balance between being too aggressively
involved or too hands off. Task owners need a reasonable amount of time to complete their tasks.
They appreciate follow up but not constant observation. During the control phase, the project
manager must be fully and actively engaged. Human behavior plays a very large role in
controlling the project schedule as it relate to timely task completion. The project manager must
have a keen awareness of what is happening (or not happening) with the project and must be alert
to possible risks. 2.3 Follow Up, Follow Up, and Follow Up Routinely update the schedule. If a

The Importance Of Social Class In Great Expectations By...
In Great Expectations, Charles Dickens shows that social classes existed but didn t limit the
characters. The main character Pip starts off as a lower class blacksmith but throughout the book
makes his way up the social classes. The social ranking a character had based how people treated
them and how the character thought of themselves. Helping others can benefit success in climbing
the social classes. Charles Dickensin Great Expectations, portrays that the characters were not
limited to their social class, but that social rankings existed. Pip shows how hard work can make
changes to social classes. Social classes can change with hard work. In Great Expectations by
Charles Dickens, Pip is portrayed wealthy in his lifestyle compared to when he used to work as a
poor blacksmith with common clothes. In the courtyard I took the opportunity of being alone in
the courtyard to look at my course hands and my common boots (Dickens, 781). This shows
how Pip is becoming aware that his clothes were the same as any other poor person and how he
wanted to change his lifestyle to become a gentleman. While Estella is next to Pip he, we folded
all my bills up uniformly, docketed each on the back, and tied the whole into a symmetrical
bundle (Dickens, 861). This is suggesting that Pip has accomplished his goal of changing his
social status and becoming a real gentleman with his hard work showing that social classes do not
limit characters that they could move up or down the ranks. Dickens portrays how characters are
not limited and held back due to the social level they had and how hard work helps achieve goals.
People were based on their social classes. Charles Dickens shows that the way people in the
society were treated and how Pip was self conscious because he was in the lower class. Pip
thought only that he was a common labouring boy; that my hands were coarse; that my boots
were thick; that I had fallen into a despicable habit of calling knaves jacks; that I was much more
ignorant than I had considered myself last night, and generally that I was in a low lived bad way.
(Dickens, 782). This shows how Pip thought of himself having a bad life because he was poor and
how thoughts of people being rich unlike him made

This concept, despite its variety of meanings and definitions, is used to refer to many aspects of
social life from musical forms and styles, literature and fine art through to philosophy, history and
especially the mass media. Post modernism is a slippery term that is used by writers to refer to

We have become disillusioned and no longer expect the world to become a better place.
Metranarratives have partly been discredited because, in an era of global media in which we learn
more and more about other peoples beliefs and lifestyles, it becomes less and less possible to
regard one lifestyle or one belief system as the true one .
Dominic Strinati
Strinati suggests that, post modern TV and film become preoccupied merely with surface style
and imagery, rather than deeper underlying themes, which might relate to the realities of the
human condition. Action blockbuster movies dwell on special effects, rather than strong plots
and TV drama departs from realist plots of the 1960 s (which attempted to look at serious issues
such as homelessness, Cathy Come Home and embraces a surreal world in which reality is often
confused; For example, Twin Peaks, or more recently The X Files and American Gothic. Kaplan
(1987) identified pop and rock videos as perfect examples of post modernist culture because they
abandon all notion of narrative structure there is no attempt to tell a story , rather the power of the
rock video lies purely in the collage of images mixed with music.

Empowering Your Organization
Empowering Your Organization
Introduction
Organizations are about people. People are the most valuable asset that an organization can possess
to create success. The development of these people and the ability for an organization to retain
talent can be complex. An organization must be organized to communicate and provide the
structure necessary for growth and development. They must also have the people within the
organization understand their ability to grow and the directions available within the organization
for growth.
In the industrial age a company was primarily there to provide goods and serves. Many
organizational behaviorists at that time focused on getting the most production from the employee.

A great example of this is in losing weight many people choose to go on a quick fix diet plan. This
is a wonderful way to reduce the weight in the short term but the person eventually returns to their
previous weight. Change must come from the inside through long term changes in the way that
they think about food and the long term change in diet.
When an organization has the symptoms of disempowerment it is not just from the inability of the
individuals internally but from a dysfunctional mindset within the organization. Therefore the
organization must perform a metamorphose to change the structure of the company and the
mindset of the individuals and management.
There are six values that are an essential part of the framework necessary for change within an
organization. These six values are self responsibility, authentic communication, trust, learning and
growing, interpersonal process skills and caring.
When looking at an organizational level of self responsibility the empowering organization has
individuals that take responsibility for their jobs, team and organization being the way that they
need it to be. This is the opposite of the mindset of victimization and an understanding that changes
comes from each individual within an organization.
If an organization promotes authentic communication it is obvious through

The Pros And Cons Of The Black Sabbath
Black Sabbath are a very controversial band which was criticized because of the messages they
were said to send. As Graholm claims in his article Ritual Black Metal Popular Music as Occult
Mediation and Practice , Black Sabbath had a certain flirtation with darker occult themes,
apparent in the name of the band itself as well as in image and lyrics (Granholm 13). Their name
was one of the reasons why they were considered devilish. Nevertheless, their original name was
Earth and the choice of Black Sabbath was only a compromise, because there was another band
with that name in England. Another controversy regards where the name came from. Some
people argue that it derives from a movie called Black Sabbath , and there was also a book
written by Wheatle with this name. Their first album did not refer to Satan at all, but the record
label made it look like it did with the appearance of the Satanist Anton LaVey. The British release
of the album featured an upside down cross inside the cover. These additions were made without the
consent of the band, only to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Indeed, it was more understandable back in the 1970s when it first appeared, while nowadays
people should be able to see that it is a type of music just like others. Listening to music is not the

event and people should reflect about it, but it should not be connected to music. The real
reflections should regard social contexts which may influence people, or the need that some people

Ethics In Call Of Duty
War is unforgiveable. Even to the novices and the arm chair commanders whose combat
experience does not extend past Call of Duty , it is clear that choosing one path over another can
mean the difference between life and death for oneself and one s unit. Sometimes there is no right
decision, and yet in others our own prejudices, fears, and emotions get in the way of the right
decision. While the former is often the well known reality of life that is seldom overcome, the
latter leads people to make the wrong decision when the right one is clear. The same can be said of
the unit from the Academy Award winning 1986 film Platoon that fell victim to their own
prejudices, fears, and emotions, eventually committing a number of warcrimes before the film was

Despite the fictional nature of the film, Chris Taylor, played by Charlie Sheen, and the rest of the

The Importance Of Western Hegemony In An Antique Land
What exactly is western hegemony? This question can be easily answered with a couple of
minutes using google. To save your time though I will answer it for you. Hegemony is defined
as, the social, cultural, ideological, or economic influence exerted by a dominant group (Merriam
Webster). Western hegemony is the west exerting hegemony on the east. This has been an
ongoing theme for some time now. The west is considered more advanced or better than other
countries. This is in the heads of the people of the east at all times as they compare themselves to
the west. In An Antique Land is a book written by an Indian writer, Amitav Ghosh, in the year of
1992. The book has two main stories throughout it. This provides for a very interesting read. It goes
back and forth between Ghosh and his anthropological adventure in Egyptand in ancient documents
covering Ben Yuji and his slave Bomma that were alive in the 12th century. Ghosh switches the
views usually through different chapters and it is easy to follow from where he left off from each
side. Ghosh lives with Islamic Egyptiansand studies them and how they live while learning more
about their view of the west and its hegemony. This book is full of evidence of western hegemony
on the account of Amitav Ghosh and his acquaintances while he is in Egypt. He expresses many
different scenes in the book that display Egyptian view s of the western cultureand military power.

point I am trying to make. I then begin researching the topic by using mostly online resources,
however, books and interviews are sometimes required. After enough information is found for my
assignment, I begin writing the assignment.
2.When and where do your best ideas come to you?
My best ideas come to me when I am either relaxed in the shower or in the middle of an intense
exercise routine. Although they are extreme opposites, they are some of the only times that I am
completely withdrawn from the outside world.
3.Where do you usually do your writing? Describe this place. Is it a good place to write? Why, or
why not?

Guy Monttag s Transformation In Fahrenheit 451 By Ray...
At the beginning of Fahrenheit 451 we get to know a person by the name of Guy Montag, who
is in a mid life crisis. We also get introduced to the world he lives in; a futuristic world, with fast
cars, and TV walls. His wife Mildred, is addicted to the TV walls, and doesn t know anything
outside the bubble that the TV walls have kept her in. Guy Montagdoes not think much about his
job as a fireman, or even his marriage with Mildred. Guy Montag at the begging of the novel
goes from being a very senseless person, that ignores even themselves, to someone that finally
knows what s going on and realizes they have a purpose in the world. While on his way home
from work, Montag meets a girl by the name of Clarisse. She asks him a question. Are you happy
? Montag then has something to finally think of. He can finally develop the skill of thinking.
This is when Montag starts his transformation. She is the one who encourages Montag to
question everything. You re one of the few who put up with me. That s why I think it s so
strange you re a fireman, it just doesn t seem right for you, somehow. (Bradbury 24). Montag s
transformation progresses when he starts reading the books that he had stolen from all the fires.
It s ironic how Montag, a fireman, reads and keeps so many books. He is excited to learn more
and more about the world which he hadn t known of before he had met Clarisse. He is developing
his mindlessness into knowledge. And I thought about books. And for the first

Upon research, the statistics below show the impact illegal border crossing has on Arizona.
a)Over the past few years, many families have been faced with unemployment, while struggling
to find steady work. In 2011 8.7% of Arizonans were officially unemployed, but in the prior year,
9.3% of illegal aliens made up the workforce. That s 262,587 Arizonans left without jobs and
278,460 illegal aliens with jobs. b)37% of Arizona s uninsured population contained is illegal
aliens, which was costing Arizona $320 million annually. c)New reports show that tens of
thousand illegal children will be attending public schools all over Arizona, funded by taxpayers.
This will cost Arizona 1.3 billion per year, which weighs down Arizona s already struggling
education system. Water Shortage As rainfall levels continue to drop below normal for Arizona,
the drought continues to raise concerns. Although rainfall isn t necessarily a type of water
source, most of the rain Phoenix gets comes from the Colorado River, which in turn is also one of
Arizona s main sources of water and used for Arizona s water reservoirs, Lake Mead and Lake
Powell. Here are some concerning facts listed below: a)Lake Mead currently has 45% of its
capacity level filled, putting it at 1,085 feet above sea level. Lake Mead is already at the lowest
level since the 1930s and if the drought continues, it s expected to drop to 1,000 feet by 2020.
Phoenix currently gets half its

The Day Of The Group Members
During the course of the semester our group members had very busy schedules which made
meeting challenging. We primarily connected through text messages, email, and short meetings
after class. Albeit meeting was difficult, our communication throughout the semester worked out
well. To accomplish our tasks each member of our group would take a section of the paper and
contribute their ideas. Having more meetings in person would have given us a better advantage on
the tasks, but due to member s schedules, we had to make do with the timewe had. Our group could
have improved on our event to hand out pamphlets by getting more volunteers to assist in
passing them out, as well as go for a longer period of time. Again with class schedules and work,
the entire group was not able to participate. We could have also benefited by adding something to
get people s attention, possibly posters and signs. The day of our group s event we all wore
purple to represent Lupus while passing out information, but doing something unusual along
with that, may have prompted more questions and interest in the message we were trying to
pass. Although you can look back and see what we could have improved on, I think that we still
were able to meet our persuasive goal by making our classmates aware of Lupus and we were
able to reach a good number of students across campus as well. Though this was not on the scale
we had hoped for it still was a step in the right direction in educating more on Lupus. To

Compare And Contrast Biological And Behavioural...
This essay will outline and compare both biological and behavioural perspectives on human
behaviour. The history, major discoveries and theories will be discussed along with some of the
most influential theorists in each of these two areas of psychology. This essay will also compare
the two areas strengths and weaknesses in the field of psychology.
Biological psychology is the study of how biology affects a number of psychological processes i.e.
how the mind affects the body (Schacter, Gilbert, Wegner Hood 2015). The study of the mind
has had many influential figures throughout history that often use each other s ideas as a
stepping stone to further advance psychology, some of the first being Plato and Aristotle. Plato
believed in nativism and theorised some skills and characteristics are innate and a person is
born with them (Schacter et al, 2015). Aristotle, however, was in favour of philosophical
empiricism i.e. that all knowledge is acquired through experience, yet current scientists do not
consider that nativism and empiricism are entirely accurate (Schacter et al, 2015). Aristotle also
believed that the brain existed to cool the blood, as during that time people were sceptical that
an organ could be responsible for behaviour (Kolb, Whishaw Teskey 2016). The next major
advancement in biological psychology was the introduction of phrenology by Francis Gall, Gall
s theory suggested that all psychological capabilities had a specific place in the brain (Schacter et
al, 2015). This theory later turned out to be correct, although was overshadowed by Gall s
insistence that he could state a person s character dependant on the size of lumps and indentations
on a person s skull, which he thought would represent the size of that brain region beneath
(Schacter et al, 2015). Due to this, in spite of a large following, phrenology was quickly
discredited. Biologist Pierre Flourens, unhappy with Gall s research, began removing localized
areas of the brain in various animals to observe their behaviour (Schacter et al, 2015). Flourens then
found that animal s movements differed to those with intact brains. This mirrored a situation for
surgeon Paul Broca with whom one of his patients had damage to the left side of

Informative Speech On Iceland
General Purpose: To inform about the various aspects of Icelandic culture.
Introduction
Attention Gainer: *draws a huge circle representing Iceland* *smacks the whiteboard* ICELAND
IS GREEN... GREENLAND IS ICE...
Reason to Listen: As you will soon see, Iceland is full of beautiful scenery and natural wonders that
everyone should have the chance to see at least once in their lifetime.
Speaker Credibility: While reading an article from The Telegraph, I came across the astonishing
truth of just how popular of a tourist attraction Iceland is. Morris (2016) stated in his article that
2016 will mark the first time that the total number of American tourists will be greater than the
number of Icelandic residents . After reading that I knew I wanted to research more about the
culture of Iceland and find out why it is such a popular tourist spot.
Thesis Statement: Today, we will be informing everyone about the unique culture of Iceland.
Preview Main Points: We will be discussing Icelandic geography, common leisurely activities, food,
and century old traditions.
Body
Main Point # 1: Because the island of Iceland is both geographically and volcanically active, it is
home to some of the world s most beautiful geography. (Aaron)
(Sub Point # 1) (Natural wonders) Iceland is known for its geothermal spas, specifically the Blue
Lagoon, and its stunning waterfalls.
The seawater blue color is due to its high concentration of sulfates... the minerals in the water are
believed to give the water curative powers (Petroski, 2012, p. 23).
(Sub Point # 2) (Landscape photography subculture) Many tourists year round visit Iceland in
attempt to capture the natural beauty of the island.
TRANSITION STATEMENT: Iceland s beautiful geography gives way to incredible activities for
both locals and tourists to do. (Maddie)
Main Point # 2: Iceland s natural hot pots and mountains make swimming and hiking very popular
activities across the country. (Maddie)
(Sub Point # 1) One of the most popular activities in Iceland is swimming, whether it be in a man
made pool, geothermal bath, or hot pot. (Maddie)
A popular hot spring pool in Iceland is The Secret Lagoon which is surrounded by geothermal
spots and a little Geysir which erupts every 5

  • 16. Rhetorical Analysis Of Henry s Speech Paragraph One In the beginning of the speech, Henry uses a cautious but also assertive tone. In delivering this speech, Henry intended to highlight the problems caused by Britain, and convince the American people to fight back against British rule. Phrases such as the majesty of heaven, which I revere above all earthly kings and nothing less then a question of freedom or slavery showcase usage of antithesis in the speech. Henry is appealing to the patriotism and emotions of his audience by mentioning things such as a question of freedom or slavery , the great responsibility which we hold to God and our country , and the very worth gentlemen who have just addressed the House . By comparing the majesty of heaven to earthly kings , Henry is appealing to ethos, or the audience s concept of ethics. The phrase freely, and without reserve is an example of parallelism. References to God are an example of allusion, as most of Henry s audience practiced Christianity. Paragraph Two The purpose of this section of the talk is to show people s desire to ignore the truth about the state of their country, and to warn against doing so. Henry is trying to show how one s default or natural response to the hardships they were facing at the hands of British rule might be to turn their head the other way. Long term factors played a major role in the march, these included harsh working conditions for peasants and their wages. The loss in the Russo Japanese war led to even worse working conditions, but the spark that ignited the fire of the 1905 revolution was inevitably Bloody Sunday. A long term cause of the Bloody Sunday massacre was the harsh conditions that many Russians suffered under. Many of the Russian peasants were very unhappy about the living conditions that they suffered in every day. They were also very upset with how the land was divided, as they were unable to make a reasonable profit that could sustain their family from the little strips of land they were given. The working class were forced to live in cramped, damp, tight barracks that offered no kind of privacy. Nicholas II wished to expand his Russian empire into Asia and this triggered the beginning of a disastrous war effort for Russia. • 25. Why Is Nietzsche God Is Not Dead God s not dead and we did not kill him, Nietzsche did. Nietzsche comes up with a claim that God is dead. He supports this claim by describing a madman frantically running around town looking for an honest person, he is looking for God. Their responses are laughter assuming the man is crazy. The madman eventually comes to the conclusion that humanity is unaware of the death of God and its significance. The significance will take time to reach the people. Nietzsche s way of saying God is deadis a way of claiming freedom over his own life and trying to bandwagon others on to it. He feels the need to not have to obey any higher authority and in this he starts a movement of free will and justifies it by attempting to bring other people along with him. Nietzsche brings a sense of freedom into the equation, Indeed, at hearing the news old god is dead , we philosophers and free spirits feel illuminated by a new dawn; our heart overflows with gratitude, amazement, forebodings, expectation finally the horizon seems clear again, even if not bright; finally our ships may set out again... This paper investigates whether segment reporting is worthwhile and whether the requirements of the new segment reporting standard (IFRS 8) have had an impact on the way companies disclose segment information. Significance of Segment Reporting Segment reporting is integral to the process of investment analysis and there is a common agreement among financial analysts that such information is essential to their work. However, in 1968 more than 50% of the mergers comprised of firms from different lines of business. Therefore, financial reporting problems from unrelated business mergers resulted in criticism from investors and the only solution was segmental disclosure. There is no doubt that segment reporting is a contentious issue: the nature of the information disclosed seems to be commercially sensitive. The significance of segment information, however, cannot be denied. Whether or not segmental reporting is worthwhile is a question (a theoretical issue) that can be resolved logically. For an objective answer, we should consider the advantages and disadvantages of segment reporting. Consolidated financial statements offer a comprehensive view of entity s financial performance. Such aggregation process leads to information loss. • 28. The Importance Of Social Class In Great Expectations By... In Great Expectations, Charles Dickens shows that social classes existed but didn t limit the characters. The main character Pip starts off as a lower class blacksmith but throughout the book makes his way up the social classes. The social ranking a character had based how people treated them and how the character thought of themselves. Helping others can benefit success in climbing the social classes. Charles Dickensin Great Expectations, portrays that the characters were not limited to their social class, but that social rankings existed. Pip shows how hard work can make changes to social classes. Social classes can change with hard work. In Great Expectations by Charles Dickens, Pip is portrayed wealthy in his lifestyle compared to when he used to work as a poor blacksmith with common clothes. In the courtyard I took the opportunity of being alone in the courtyard to look at my course hands and my common boots (Dickens, 781). This shows how Pip is becoming aware that his clothes were the same as any other poor person and how he wanted to change his lifestyle to become a gentleman. While Estella is next to Pip he, we folded all my bills up uniformly, docketed each on the back, and tied the whole into a symmetrical bundle (Dickens, 861). This is suggesting that Pip has accomplished his goal of changing his social status and becoming a real gentleman with his hard work showing that social classes do not limit characters that they could move up or down the ranks. Dickens portrays how characters are not limited and held back due to the social level they had and how hard work helps achieve goals. People were based on their social classes. Charles Dickens shows that the way people in the society were treated and how Pip was self conscious because he was in the lower class. Pip thought only that he was a common labouring boy; that my hands were coarse; that my boots were thick; that I had fallen into a despicable habit of calling knaves jacks; that I was much more ignorant than I had considered myself last night, and generally that I was in a low lived bad way. He is excited to learn more and more about the world which he hadn t known of before he had met Clarisse. He is developing his mindlessness into knowledge. And I thought about books. Water Shortage As rainfall levels continue to drop below normal for Arizona, the drought continues to raise concerns. Here are some concerning facts listed below: a)Lake Mead currently has 45% of its capacity level filled, putting it at 1,085 feet above sea level. • 44. The Day Of The Group Members During the course of the semester our group members had very busy schedules which made meeting challenging. We primarily connected through text messages, email, and short meetings after class. Albeit meeting was difficult, our communication throughout the semester worked out well. To accomplish our tasks each member of our group would take a section of the paper and contribute their ideas. Having more meetings in person would have given us a better advantage on the tasks, but due to member s schedules, we had to make do with the timewe had. Our group could have improved on our event to hand out pamphlets by getting more volunteers to assist in passing them out, as well as go for a longer period of time. Again with class schedules and work, the entire group was not able to participate. We could have also benefited by adding something to get people s attention, possibly posters and signs. The day of our group s event we all wore purple to represent Lupus while passing out information, but doing something unusual along with that, may have prompted more questions and interest in the message we were trying to pass. Although you can look back and see what we could have improved on, I think that we still were able to meet our persuasive goal by making our classmates aware of Lupus and we were able to reach a good number of students across campus as well. Though this was not on the scale we had hoped for it still was a step in the right direction in educating more on Lupus. To ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. Compare And Contrast Biological And Behavioural... This essay will outline and compare both biological and behavioural perspectives on human behaviour. The history, major discoveries and theories will be discussed along with some of the most influential theorists in each of these two areas of psychology. This essay will also compare the two areas strengths and weaknesses in the field of psychology. Biological psychology is the study of how biology affects a number of psychological processes i.e. how the mind affects the body (Schacter, Gilbert, Wegner Hood 2015). The study of the mind has had many influential figures throughout history that often use each other s ideas as a stepping stone to further advance psychology, some of the first being Plato and Aristotle. Plato believed in nativism and theorised some skills and characteristics are innate and a person is born with them (Schacter et al, 2015). Aristotle, however, was in favour of philosophical empiricism i.e. that all knowledge is acquired through experience, yet current scientists do not consider that nativism and empiricism are entirely accurate (Schacter et al, 2015). Aristotle also believed that the brain existed to cool the blood, as during that time people were sceptical that an organ could be responsible for behaviour (Kolb, Whishaw Teskey 2016). The next major advancement in biological psychology was the introduction of phrenology by Francis Gall, Gall s theory suggested that all psychological capabilities had a specific place in the brain (Schacter et al, 2015). This theory later turned out to be correct, although was overshadowed by Gall s insistence that he could state a person s character dependant on the size of lumps and indentations on a person s skull, which he thought would represent the size of that brain region beneath (Schacter et al, 2015). Due to this, in spite of a large following, phrenology was quickly discredited. Biologist Pierre Flourens, unhappy with Gall s research, began removing localized areas of the brain in various animals to observe their behaviour (Schacter et al, 2015). Flourens then found that animal s movements differed to those with intact brains. This mirrored a situation for surgeon Paul Broca with whom one of his patients had damage to the left side of ...
