The Theory Of Mind ( Tom )
Theory of mind (ToM) is the ability to differentiate one s own mental state from others and therefore,
influence the behaviour accordingly. Mental states comprise of the individual s desires, beliefs and
intentions. ToM is considered to be a milestone in psychosocial development as pre schoolers at the
age of 4 or 5 tend to be able to recognise that not everyone perceive the same reality as they do
(Wellman, Cross Watson, 2001). This is known as false belief and is an important skill in
comprehending and predicting people s emotions and actions to construct a meaningful relationship.
Many have argued that ToM coincides with language acquisition providing a mechanism to apprehend
mental states within one s cognition (Karmiloff Smith, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That is, whether a deaf child was from a deaf family or normally hearing, and thus the immersion of
the natural language leading to a successful ToM maturation. Moreover, a cochlear implant can
improve a hearing impaired child s communication skills, which benefits social functioning, but still
lag considerably behind in ToM compared to normally hearing peers. The outcomes of a delayed ToM
do not occur in a particular order nor should they be considered as distinct features. Rather, the
consequences are intertwined whereby one particular aspect can affect the other. For a deaf child, their
natural language is signing (Mayer Leigh, 2010). Auslan or other variations of signing is instinctive to
a deaf individual because it is the language that they can form coherent sentences and explicit
semantics to engage in a discourse. Although language is predominately symbols rather than verbal or
written compared to a deaf child s normally hearing peers, it still allows the child to apprehend mental
states in their cognition and conceive others around. Therefore, studies have shown that these children
can do just as well, or even better, on false belief tests than hearing children (Marschark Clark, 1998).
In other words, despite being diagnosed as deaf or hard of hearing, native signers typically show no
delayed ToM and the implication is higher control of behaviours, or executive functioning, and

Symbolism In The Beauty Queen Of Leenane
The Beauty Queen of Leenane, a deep, twisted play by Martin McDonagh, is a symbolic work of art.
The symbols within this play, powerful as they may be, do not jump out at the reader. They are instead
embedded into the simplest objects and the relationship of the main characters. Martin McDonagh
portrays his symbols with such an ironic eloquence; the dark, powerful symbols are inextricably
linked in such a beautiful way, that once the reader makes the connections, the entire aura of the play
changes. From symbols as simple as hot oil and a rocking chair to the mother daughter relationship of
Mag and Maureen, the reader learns more and more about Ireland during its time of troubles. Right off
the bat, the reader is aware that Mag and Maureen s relationship is not a traditional mother daughter
relationship. Any and all forms of love seem to be absent, there is no common ground, and abuse is
evident. It is within this abuse that the first symbol is found hot oil. The stage directions state,
Maureen slowly and deliberately takes her mother s shriveled hand, holds it down on the burning
range, and starts slowly pouring some of the hot oil over it, as Mag screams in pain and terror
(McDonagh 43). The literal use of the symbol of hot oil is highly substantial in identifying the kind of
relationship Mag and Maureen possess, but the symbolic significance behind the hot oil bears a
greater significance. In this play, hot oil is symbolic of the intense, burning tension between mother

Evil In Augustine s Theodicy
Evil, a thing we all fear that comes in many shapes and sizes, the most malevolent being in the
universe. Why is it here, why does it exist? We can all give examples of evil actions, people, things,
and places that we as a society believe are truly evil, but it is important to understand where did we
conceived these ideas. Theodicy is defined as the many different views on the existence of evil, but we
must go more in depth in order to correctly define what is good and bad. Evil is known to be the
source of bad and God, the creator of heaven and earth, the divine being, is the counter opposite of
evil. If God is an omnipresent being, who is omni benevolent, why does evil exist on his earth in such
extensive ways? An atheist may argue is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Rebellion , Ivan speaks of the cruel suffering of children and reverts back to Adam and Eve eating
the forbidden fruit. He states that adults ate the apple and that little children have not eaten anything
and are not yet guilty of anything (Dostoevsky, 238). From this, the question arises, if children are not
guilty of anything, why too do they suffer? Augustine s theodicy of original sin could be applied to
this question in search for an answer, but these children were too young to understand free will. Most
children, unlike adults, do not know how to fight for themselves. It is hard to distinguish how children
can they choose to disobey God orders if they were never even taught how to follow him. Little,
young, innocent children subjected to horrific tortures, such as the five year old girl, who was
punished for wetting the bed. She was forced to have her face smeared with her excrements and then
having her eat the excrements (Dostoevsky, 242). Knowing that these kinds of events occur could
make even the most religious individual question why God would allow this kind of suffering to

Explain The Four Stages Of The Antiwar Movement
Four Stages of the Antiwar Movement in Vietnam The Antiwar movement in Vietnam was a social
movement that occurred from 1960 1970. It was the first mass movement against a war in American
history. This movement consisted of many interests and concerns that eventually led to unification
over the opposition of the Vietnam war. Although one may not visually see different stages in a
movement, often because there is so much happening, but there are four stages within almost every
movement. Emergence, coalescence, bureaucratization, and decline are all seen in the Antiwar
movement against the Vietnam war. The first stage, emergence, occurred in 1964 and 1965. This stage
was led by two different groups: left wing activists and college students. When the war began to grow
in 1965, there were two goals that were set in place: to give activists enough knowledge about
Vietnam to be able to draw others into action, and to normalize opposition, since many Americans
were hesitant to go against their own country in a time of war (Zimmerman 2017). The peace groups
educated the press and the public. The students invented a new way to train activists, the bizarrely
successful campus teach ins, and over 120 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After memorable protests by antiwar vets, an attempt by 20,000 activists to shut down the federal
government in Washington failed. But a few weeks later, the release of the Pentagon Papers drove
public opposition to the war even higher. Spreading public opposition should have been a victory for
the movement; instead, it threw it into crisis (Zimmerman 2017). Activists were moving on to
complete deferred professional or academic goals. Many who remained realized that a majority of
Americans had turned against the war but they felt unable or unwilling to join because the military
required them to put their lives on the line. A new strategy was needed, and a fourth stage of the
antiwar movement emerged (Zimmerman

Elizabeth Barrett Browning, An English Poet Of The...
Elizabeth Barrett Browning, an English poet of the Victorian Era, was born on March 6, 1806 at
Coxhoe Hall, Durham, England. Barrett was apart of a big family; her parents had 12 children, she
was the oldest out of all of them. Mary Graham Clarke and Edward Barrett were the parents out of all
12 children. They educated their children at home. The family made their money off of Jamaican
sugar plantations and depended on slave labor. Barrett began her love for reading and writing poetry at
a very young age. She began reading the classic poetry written by John Milton and William
Shakespeare. When Barrett was 12 years old she wrote her first book of poetry. When Barrett was 14

Barrett published her first Novel in 1820, The Battle of Marathon, her father published this book
anonymously. Barrett continued to publish her books anonymously, and in 1826 she published An
Essay on Mind and Other Poems. This book really started the kickoff in her writing career.
In 1829, Barrett s mother passed away. Due to the abolition of slavery, the Barretts income decreased
tremendously. In 1832, Edward Barrett was forced to sell his rural estate at an auction. After selling
their land, the family rented cottages in a coastal town, where they lived for the next three years of
their life. After that time in their life, the family moved to London, where they permanently settled. In
1833, after the move, Barrett published her translation of Aeschylus s Prometheus Bound, an Ancient
Greek tragedy. A few years after that she published The Seraphim and Other Poems, a book expressing
her opinion on Christian faith.
Barrett s health continued to decline, she moved in with her brother, Edward, near the sea of Torquay.
That same year, Edward drowned while sailing in the waters of Torquay. Barrett was forced to move
back to London, she was physically and emotionally weak, but that didn t stop here from her writing.
In 1844, she published her collection Poems. This collection drew lots of attention from the public, in
particular, this drew the attention of the English Poet, Robert Browning. Browning began to write

Character traits in books are a very essential element and without them, books would not be books.
They provide people with an example that they may follow in order to live a good life. Some books
serve as life lessons to show people how some characteristics can bring downfall to some people if
they do not follow the rules. Throughout Last Days of Summer, by Steve Kluger, the characters
possess many characteristics that can help us in our everyday life, most importantly, patience. Charlie
learns how to develop patience throughout the book. In the beginning, he despises Joey for the
nonstop letters he keeps sending him. As time goes on the two develop a very good and strong

Counterterrorism Model Effectiveness
Effectiveness of the counterterrorism model
After the 9/11 attacks, the reports of Al Qaeda attacking the United States directly have been
minimized. Development of the intelligence sharing has led to open sharing of information where
terrorists can be easily tracked. The wiretapping of phone calls, for example, has led to the tracking of
terrorist activities. The greatest achievement of the intelligence post the 9/11 attacks was the follow up
of Al Qaeda`s leader Osama bin Laden. By killing the group s leader, the US achieved partial
deactivation of the group although it wasn`t dismantled as its effects are still evident in the Islamic
world (Lawrence 2006) .

Ford Edge Comparison
Have you ever wanted to know which was better a classic cars or the cars today we have today? Well
you can find out because I am comparing a 1967 Chevy Impala and a Ford Edge. I ll be comparing
what is different about the. I ll also be seeing what is the same about them. The first thing I am
comparing is the technology the cars have. The Chevy Impala doesn t really have that much
technology had cars today. It has a radio and a cassette player for cassette tapes. It doesn t have all the
stuff todays cars have. The Ford Edge had a radio like the Impala, but you can play cd s in the Edge. It
also has a USB port so you can charge your phone and play music from it in the car. It had a touch
screen radio and seat warmers in the front seats. The window are different in each of them too. In the
Impala it s a crank window so you have to crank it up. The Edge had automatic window so you just
have to press a button. The Ford Edge does have a lot more technology in it than the Chevy Impala.
The second thing we are comparing it the seats and what the can do. In the Impala the seats don t have
seat warms and you can t move the driver s seat by itself. The whole front seat in connected so if you
have to move the front seat up then the whole seat has to move up. The seats don t lean back like in
today s cars. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the Chevy Impala is a classic car it s harder to find them. Normally if you want to buy them you
might have to go to an auction that is selling classic cars or you have to buy one from somebody. They
also costs a lot more money since they are rare and hard to find. The Ford Edge is easier to find since
it is a modern day car. You can buy the Edge at pretty much any car dealership. They cost the normal
price at which a car usually cost so you won t be spending as much money as you would if you bought
the Chevy Impala. The Chevy Impala is a rare car so the Ford Edge is much easier to buy and

The Equal Pay Act Essay
One problem that Americans are facing is the inequality between men and women, whether it is in
everyday life or in a professional atmosphere. One step that has been taken toward equality was
introduced with the Equal Pay Act of 1963, signed by President John F. Kennedy. This law was the
first affecting the amount of job opportunities available for women and allowing them to work in
traditionally male dominated fields. On the outside, this would sound like a solution where nothing
could possibly go wrong, but it is not.
There are nearly as many women as there are men working, yet, as it was discovered in 2011, on
average, a woman will only earn seventy seven cents for every dollar that a man earns. Women owned

journey for her rights.
Feminism is a living word. There can never truly be a one set definition for the word as the term has
often shifted meanings to correspond to the time period. Feminists fight for the rights that men have
under the United States Constitution and to have the right to not be discriminated against. Any action
against any woman, intentional or not, goes against the principles that many women and men stand
for.
The quest for equal rights is usually put into two different waves: the first wave being considered
women s suffrage and the second being the equal right movement. One big uprising in feminism
happened alongside the abolitionist movement. Many women started to realize that, as they were
fighting to get African Americans out of their version of perdition at the hands of their slave owners,
that they themselves were slaves to the will of the men in society. Since many women petitioned for
antislavery, the Congress in session at the time put forth the gag rule, which placed many of these
petitions off to the side for consideration.
The feminist movement that is more recognized was started by Betty Friedan. She was the author of
The Feminine Mystique, a book that called for many women to enrich themselves from the unnamed
problem that left

The utilization of OOP for the J. Smith Associates (JSA) furniture equipment project could be useful
with additional training of the OOP software. The JSA furniture equipment project will follow the
Traditional Project Management (TPM) approach. The Linear Project Management Life Cycle Model
is the most appropriate TPM. The project follows scope, plan, launch, monitor control and close
processes and the OOP are well suited for a linear project. With easier access to the project plan via
lap tops or hand held internet access devices the full project plan becomes portable. Changes and
updates through OOP will automatically update other documents affected by these events. The client
or senior management can access project plan at any time to follow the progress of the operation.
The OOP software functions as a scheduler allowing a software user the ability to visualize former,
current and future events. This is very useful tool to follow up with subcontractors to insure their
readiness for their phase of the project. Additional OOP functions can assist with the monitoring and
control of subcontractor s actions.

History Of U.s. And Cuba

The History of the U.S. and Cuba
The United States is known for being one of the greatest and strongest countries in the world looking
at past events and in this day and age. What might strike some people as shocking is that the U.S.
would not be as strong without close ties with other countries or allies. Examples would be France,
England, and Canada, plus many more. What people don t talk about is the U.S. s rivals or countries
that the U.S. has had trouble with in the past leading up to now. One of the most renowned countries is
only ninety miles away from the southern tip of Florida and that is Cuba. Cuba is known for the
fantastic beaches, some of the most well known baseball players around, and, of course, Cuban cigars
and rum. But, the past with Cuba is not as bright as the U.S. wants it to be because of historical events
such as the embargo, the Bay of Pigs, and the Cuban missile crisis during World War II that caused the
two countries to separate as allies and close tied nations. Over the past year the U.S. and Cuba have
been trying to put the past behind them and have diplomatic and cultural relations once again. The last
president to visit the nation of Cuba was President Calvin Coolidge in 1928. Since then there has
many problems between the two nations. Fourteen months ago President Barrack Obama announced
that there would be an effort in trying to normalize relations with Cuba. As the President has

Employee Retention In Nursing Practice
Introduction:
In nursing research is crucial for nurses in delivering care for patients. Today, nurses are accepting the
requirements of evidenced based practice into their clinical areas and also for decision making.
Researchers had argued that regardless what discipline the healthcare providers belongs too; it is an
obligation for all of them to strive and extend the body of knowledge for better patients outcomes
(Polit Hungler, 2001). As for nursing, there is a lot of knowledge can be gained by nurses via research
studies. Globally the ultimate goal in healthcare is to facilitate patients to reach the highest level of
health status that would allow them to participate in the social and economic life of the community
that lives in. To achieve these goals, the healthcare industries need to adapt the best practice approach
for patients care. Best practice is adopted via research; the search scientific knowledge is indeed
strongly supported by nationwide (Lea, Williams Donahue, 2005).
In current nursing practice the used of EBP is not something new to nurses. It is believe that every
nurse do engage themselves to research based environment direct or indirectly. ... Show more content

Samhain Research Paper
Samhain is celebrate on October 31, the name literally means Summer s End. This is a Celtic holiday
that was considered the end of the years and the beginning or the new year. It is the time that is
between time. Samhain was changed to All Hallows when Christianity was booming. But the
Christians celebrated it on May 13, but since this was one of the favorite pagan holidays, it was not
easily given up, so the Christians moved the date of their All Saints/ All Hallows from May to
November first, the day after Samhain. Later in England, the holiday was abolished because of all the
pagan undertones that it had and was not restored until 1928. The reason for restoring it then was
because there was an assumption that all the old pagans have died ... Show more content on

are the colors of Samhain also. And the symbols I associate with Samhain because they have just been

Nutrition and Digestion
Module 2 Written Assignment
1. What are enzymes? What specifically is the role of an enzyme in digestion?
Enzymes are working proteins that facilitate chemical reactions without being changed in the process.
Organs of the digestive system excrete digestive juices, which contain enzymes that break the bonds
of nutrients that can be absorbed.
2. Trace the path of a cheeseburger and fries through the digestive tract. Indicate each place where
mechanical digestion, chemical digestion, and absorption occurs FOR EACH NUTRIENT
(carbohydrates, lipids, proteins). Be sure to fully explain the role of EACH organ involved (including
the pancreas, liver, and gallbladder).

The small intestine also contributes enzymes to complete the digestion process before nutrients are
small enough for the cells to absorb (chemical).
In the large intestine The digestion and absorption of proteins, fats and carbohydrates are essentially
complete by the time the intestinal contents enter the colon. Only water, fiber and some minerals
remain. Only certain fibers can be broken down by bacteria (chemical digestion). The colon s task is
mostly to reabsorb water and minerals, leaving a paste of fiber and feces for excretion (mechanical)
via rectum and anus.
3. How is the lining of the small intestine protected from acidic chyme entering from the stomach?
The pyloric valve of the lower stomach regulates the amount of chyme that exits into the small
intestine, allowing only a little at a time to exit. Also, once chyme enters the small intestine, hormonal
messengers signal the pancreas to release alkaline pancreatic juice, bicarbonate, to neutralize the
stomach acid that has reached the small intestine.
4. Where are carbohydrates stored in the body? In what form are carbohydrates stored?
Carbohydrates are stored in the liver in the form of glycogen.
5. What happens to the volume (amount) and dilution (amount of water) of urine when alcohol is

Windows versus Linux Essay
Windows vs. LINUX
Both Windows and Linux come in many different forms. All the different forms of Windows come
from Microsoft, the various distributions of Linux come from different companies (ex. Red Hat,
SuSE, Linspire, Ubuntu, Mandriva, Knoppix, etc). Windows has two main lines: Win9x , which is
consists of Windows 95, 98, 98SecondEdition and ME, and NT class which consists of Windows NT,
200 and XP. On a side note, Windows first had version 3.x which was made before Windows 95 by a
couple of years. The various types of Linux are called distributions. All the Linux distributions
released around the same time frame will use the same kernel, which are the guts of the OS. They will

Some, like Lindows, do not write anything on the hard disk. There is a downside to running an OS
from a CD is speed and continuity. Versions such as SuSE, use the hard disk. What you gain in speed,
you give up in safety. Now a days you are not limited to just a CD, you can now have a Linux
distribution run from a flash drive.
Windows and Linux provide a GUI (Graphical User Interface) and a command line interface. The
Windows GUI has changed dramatically from Windows 3.1 to Windows 95, slightly to Windows
2000, big change to Windows XP and is scheduled to change again with the new version of Windows
recently named Vista. Themes is a feature in Windows which lets you customize to an extent the look
of your GUI. Linux typically provides two GUIs, KDE and Gnome. Of the major distributions,
Lindows has made their user interface resemble Windows a lot more than the others. Text mode
interface is also known as a command interpreter. Windows users know this as DOS prompt. It is
called a shell in Linux. Windows has a single command interpreter but the different types of Windows
have different interpreters. Linux, just as all versions of UNIX, supports multiple command
interpreters, but Linux usually uses one called BASH (Bourne Again Shell). A few other shells are the
C shell, ash shell, and the bourne shell.

The Importance Of Friendship In My Life
When I was younger, I used to think that all people were good and every friendship that lasted longer
than three months was forever. Now, I know that people will not always be what they seem, I might
get hurt from friendships, and I have to learn to let go sometimes. I believe in standing up for yourself
and your thoughts, even when it s the harder thing to do. I stand for not letting a toxic relationship
define you. This is how I believe in self worth. When I started my freshman year, I walked in with
some of the closest friends I d ever had. The four of us, my best gal pal, Anna, her boyfriend, Clay,
and my best guy friend, Aaron. We did everything together, but it was Aaron and I that grew to be best
friends over that year. When it comes to friendships I think I can become attached really easily. I am
always the first person to say I love you . It s just in my nature to be attached to people because I don t
want to change. We were constantly together, and they were the closest friendships and relationships
that I might ever have. Nothing could come between us, until something did. By Christmas Eve I was
seeing a boy, and on New Year s finally had my first kiss. They were happy for me, but as the month
of January rolled by I noticed a change in them. It was hard for them to trust my new hockey playing
boyfriend. Aaron was scared he would hit me or hurt me because my boyfriend got very jealous, very
easily, and it was mostly about my relationship with Aaron.

The author also raises the point that despite numerous charitable efforts towards Africa in the last five
decades, Africa has gone from poor to poorer. This gives the impression that social responsibility, as it
were, is not being done ethically. The author is also of the thought that a free market capitalism on its
own has done far much better in alleviating poverty in the developing world/countries if it is left to act
on its own without marketing forces and humanitarian groups working in counter parallelism.
The author is also of the thought that the two initiatives (that is, Product Red and Red Gap) are
deviating from their main mission of company profitability maximization which compromises
shareholder value, as these companies are now against the idea of capitalism which they view as
immoral and they hence believe a profit making end should be expiated by an occasional show of real
goodness (donating to charity).
Campaigns as Product Red according to the author, accommodate the belief that globalization is an
evil business practice, of which the author thinks to the contrary.
The author also highlights that it s not private companies prerogative to pursue charitable causes at the
expense of shareholder value maximization, as this is

English Colonists Treatment Of Native Americans
When it comes to wealth and power, people want it all for themselves. They will do anything in order
to claim it and call it theirs. Some people are stronger than others, which makes their journeys easier
to win over others. English colonists arrived to the New World after seeing Spanish colonization
gaining wealth and being able to send gold and sliver back home. While English colonists were trying
to gain wealth, they had to use Native Americans. Native Americans on Jamestown had everything
that English colonists wanted, therefore they relayed on them and took advantage of the natives. The
treatment of Native Americans by English colonists in Jamestown was unavoidable because English
colonists arrived to the New World with a single goal, gaining wealth. English colonists and

Once the English colony gained power, they forgot about the people who kept them alive, they forgot

The, By Tobias Wolff And Reunion
Family Bonds
Family reunions are meant to bring people closer, but at times can do the exact opposite and drive
each other further away. Some us enjoy the company of others, the food, and the laughter shared with
one another. As where others decide to stick to themselves and just wait till it s all over. In the Short
stories, Powder written by Tobias Wolff and Reunion by John Cheever Our main characters both learn
something about their fathers and themselves.
The short story Power by Tobias Wolff, is a first person story about a boy s trip with his father on
Christmas eve. His mother and father have been considering a divorce for quite sometimes and so his
mother is quite over protective of letting her son spend time with his father, especially on such an
important family holiday. The protagonist, being the son, is quiet and worried for most of the story,
but has a lot on his mind and is constantly aware of his surroundings. He is aware that it is very
possible that his father will not be able to get him home to his mother s dinner on time. He believes in
strong relationships so he is very aware of the high chance of divorce papers showing up after the
holiday season if he doesn t not arrive on time. In turn, this would make the boy s father the antagonist
since the father is the only obstacle between the boy arriving home on time and not making it at all.

Smoothie Recipes
A smoothie is fruit drink, made via a food blender or smoothie maker (a smoothie maker is just a
blender with a tap on the front).
Smoothies benefit us in a different way from juices because smoothies have the entire fruit, not only
the juice. As a result, the smoothie recipe also includes the fruit fiber, which is extremely vital for
developing a fit body. Fibre assists in digestion.
For that smoothie to possess a liquid like form that could be drinkable (rather than chewable) the

Cell Phone Polling
In the 2012 United States presidential election, many pre election polls believed that Mitt Romney
would win, even by just a small margin. However, Barack Obama won the election easily, with a win
by about five million votes (The Week Staff). Obama s victory upset many Americans, mainly the
Republican party and those supporting it. A few factors came into play that made polling inconsistent
and incorrect in this election. The growth of cell phones caused automatic calling to fail to reach many
people. Also, the decrease in response rate caused less accurate polls for representing a whole.
However, some methods may help combat these issues, such as calling more. Polling became less

In the late 1970s, an 80 percent response rate was acceptable, but people taking the polls still feared
over inaccurate results (Zukin). Now, that fell to about nine percent in 2012 (DeSilver and Keeter) and
even to eight percent in 2014 (Zukin). Some of the causes for the low turnout include people being
harder to contact, people wanting their opinions private, and that people think surveys are burdens
(DeSilver and Keeter). People live busier lives, so they feel that taking a survey would take too much
time and has no worth. Some may also think that the survey results would not change if they do not
answer because many people would receive calls, so they do not answer. Lower turnout means that the
results do not represent most of the population, so they become less accurate and lead to more false
predictions (Zukin). Low response rate has been a problem for voting, and it also affects surveying

These ammendents included, among other things, the introduction of a non union/collective
bargaining system in the form of Enterprise Flexibility Agreements. The intention of the 1993
Industrial Relations Reform Act, for example, was to make enterprise bargaining the main process for
determining wages and other conditions of employment. Awards continued to provide effective
regulation for employees who were not enjoying the benefits of enterprise bargaining, even if award
wages rose slowly and fell well behind wage increases in enterprise agreements (Bray etc al, 2006).
The Business Council of Australia s strong support for enterprise bargaining and for a weakened role
for arbitration tribunals gradually became the mainstream position among most Australian employers,
even among those who had previously supported centralized bargaining (Thornthwaite and Sheldon,
1996). This was the first time in history, in which the unions were excluded from having any
involvement in all forms of agreement in relations to employment conditions in the federal
jurisdiction. It was at the time of this introduction that it became evident that these agreements would
allow employers to begin to de unionise their operations and to accelerate their move towards a non
union status. The most radical industrial relations reforms of the past 20 or so years was brought in
soon after the election of the Howard government in 1996. Whilst

Biography Of Chuck, An African American Male
Chuck, an African American male, was brought to my funeral home after an autopsy had been
completed on him. Chuck passed away in a car accident after his car crossed the centerline, was hit by
another car and then upon impact burned. Amazingly, Chuck got out of the car but later died on the
side of the road before help had arrived. Chuck s ability to get out the car and dying on the side of the
road led to this being an autopsy case. While preparing Chuck for his services, I noticed that he has
light discolorations on his hands and face due to his car catching on fire. This goes to show that he
suffered first degree burns. First degree burns or hyperemia is any injury caused by heat, which
produces redness of the skin. This type of burn does not present any unusual difficulty when
embalming or preparing the body. Although it is discolored, we have to be thankful that the skin will
just be red, unbroken and has no tissue destruction. For the discoloration, I used a stronger than
normal arterial injection solution as a precaution against skin slip, applied massage cream during the
embalming process and used cosmetics after embalming to help reduce the visibility of the burns on
his hands and face. The fact that Chuck has a ruptured aorta causes some difficulties and will affect
the embalming process, however embalming can still take place. A ruptured aorta will cause the
embalming fluid to fill the cavity rather than going through the arterial system. If one

Public School Vs. Home Schooling System
In society, people have their own techniques of teaching and learning. Parents have their own
preference on whether they want their children in a public school or home schooling system. They
have to look at the advantages and disadvantages that come with making the right choice for their
child s education. Being home schooled, does not give the child the ability to be around new people.
Some parents cannot afford for their child to be home schooled, and choose to have them enrolled in
public school. Having students in a public school has a better learning aspect and more affordable.
Parents have to look at the optimistic choices that come out of their child attending a Public school.
Public school is a place for students to interact and communicate with their peers. Students learn how
to act with their friends, either in a negative or positive manner. They have to learn to associate with a
diverse culture of people. Children have to understand different personalities because everyone is not
the same. Parents have to be willing to let a child go out and find their personality and some freedom.
A public school offers advanced learning and skills for children of all ages and disabilities. Public
school allows students to have full attention and extra help from their teacher. Especially if the child is
having problems at home, they have another adult person they can look to for help. They are given
counselors that are specialized to assist students with their difficulty either

Stress In The Baboons
This episode features Stanford University s Neurobiologist, Robert Sapolsky, who has a high
understanding of stress and how it affects our not just our health, but our bodies. The main point
Robert is conveying to the audience states that stress leads to serious health consequences, such as
high blood pressure, weakened immune system, fatigue, development of fat and even the shortening of
life expectancy. Robert Sapolsky researches the science behind human stress by exploring non human
primates, the baboons in their natural habitat in Kenya, Africa. After thirty years of research, Sapolsky
believes that baboons are apparently the perfect source of exemplifying human stress because they are
naturally aggressive toward one another, including their offspring, and the pain and stress factors
appear to be the same in humans; especially dealing with stressful jobs and verbally abusive bosses. In
the baboon s case, if you are a full controlled male, you can expect lower stress levels, and if you are
the submissive, abused baboon, the stress level can be much higher. The only way Robert can take a
look at the serious health consequences related to human stress in the baboon is by taking the
unsuspecting submissive monkey s blood and examining the stress hormones in the lab. The results of
a submissive baboon revealed high blood ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The research Robert Sapolsky gathered is true for humans because I experienced abnormally high
blood pressure, high heart rate to where I can hear my heart beating and to where I ended up in the
emergency room because I felt like I was going to have a heart attack as a result of a stressful job at
Publix. My mom also experienced similar stress symptoms at her jobs, such as fatigue, high blood
pressure, and blood clots. I certainly believe if a human being experiences prolonged stress throughout
their life, their life expectancy can be cut

  • 2. The Theory Of Mind ( Tom ) Theory of mind (ToM) is the ability to differentiate one s own mental state from others and therefore, influence the behaviour accordingly. Mental states comprise of the individual s desires, beliefs and intentions. ToM is considered to be a milestone in psychosocial development as pre schoolers at the age of 4 or 5 tend to be able to recognise that not everyone perceive the same reality as they do (Wellman, Cross Watson, 2001). This is known as false belief and is an important skill in comprehending and predicting people s emotions and actions to construct a meaningful relationship. Many have argued that ToM coincides with language acquisition providing a mechanism to apprehend mental states within one s cognition (Karmiloff Smith, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moreover, a cochlear implant can improve a hearing impaired child s communication skills, which benefits social functioning, but still lag considerably behind in ToM compared to normally hearing peers. The outcomes of a delayed ToM do not occur in a particular order nor should they be considered as distinct features. Rather, the consequences are intertwined whereby one particular aspect can affect the other. For a deaf child, their natural language is signing (Mayer Leigh, 2010). Auslan or other variations of signing is instinctive to a deaf individual because it is the language that they can form coherent sentences and explicit semantics to engage in a discourse. Although language is predominately symbols rather than verbal or written compared to a deaf child s normally hearing peers, it still allows the child to apprehend mental states in their cognition and conceive others around. Therefore, studies have shown that these children can do just as well, or even better, on false belief tests than hearing children (Marschark Clark, 1998). In other words, despite being diagnosed as deaf or hard of hearing, native signers typically show no delayed ToM and the implication is higher control of behaviours, or executive functioning, and ... • 3. Symbolism In The Beauty Queen Of Leenane The Beauty Queen of Leenane, a deep, twisted play by Martin McDonagh, is a symbolic work of art. The symbols within this play, powerful as they may be, do not jump out at the reader. They are instead embedded into the simplest objects and the relationship of the main characters. Martin McDonagh portrays his symbols with such an ironic eloquence; the dark, powerful symbols are inextricably linked in such a beautiful way, that once the reader makes the connections, the entire aura of the play changes. From symbols as simple as hot oil and a rocking chair to the mother daughter relationship of Mag and Maureen, the reader learns more and more about Ireland during its time of troubles. Right off the bat, the reader is aware that Mag and Maureen s relationship is not a traditional mother daughter relationship. Any and all forms of love seem to be absent, there is no common ground, and abuse is evident. It is within this abuse that the first symbol is found hot oil. The stage directions state, Maureen slowly and deliberately takes her mother s shriveled hand, holds it down on the burning range, and starts slowly pouring some of the hot oil over it, as Mag screams in pain and terror (McDonagh 43). The literal use of the symbol of hot oil is highly substantial in identifying the kind of relationship Mag and Maureen possess, but the symbolic significance behind the hot oil bears a greater significance. In this play, hot oil is symbolic of the intense, burning tension between mother ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Explain The Four Stages Of The Antiwar Movement Four Stages of the Antiwar Movement in Vietnam The Antiwar movement in Vietnam was a social movement that occurred from 1960 1970. It was the first mass movement against a war in American history. This movement consisted of many interests and concerns that eventually led to unification over the opposition of the Vietnam war. Although one may not visually see different stages in a movement, often because there is so much happening, but there are four stages within almost every movement. Emergence, coalescence, bureaucratization, and decline are all seen in the Antiwar movement against the Vietnam war. The first stage, emergence, occurred in 1964 and 1965. This stage was led by two different groups: left wing activists and college students. When the war began to grow in 1965, there were two goals that were set in place: to give activists enough knowledge about Vietnam to be able to draw others into action, and to normalize opposition, since many Americans were hesitant to go against their own country in a time of war (Zimmerman 2017). What might strike some people as shocking is that the U.S. would not be as strong without close ties with other countries or allies. Examples would be France, England, and Canada, plus many more. This is a Celtic holiday that was considered the end of the years and the beginning or the new year. It is the time that is between time. Samhain was changed to All Hallows when Christianity was booming. But the Christians celebrated it on May 13, but since this was one of the favorite pagan holidays, it was not easily given up, so the Christians moved the date of their All Saints/ All Hallows from May to November first, the day after Samhain. Later in England, the holiday was abolished because of all the pagan undertones that it had and was not restored until 1928. Enzymes are working proteins that facilitate chemical reactions without being changed in the process. Organs of the digestive system excrete digestive juices, which contain enzymes that break the bonds of nutrients that can be absorbed. 2. Trace the path of a cheeseburger and fries through the digestive tract. Indicate each place where mechanical digestion, chemical digestion, and absorption occurs FOR EACH NUTRIENT (carbohydrates, lipids, proteins). In the large intestine The digestion and absorption of proteins, fats and carbohydrates are essentially complete by the time the intestinal contents enter the colon. Only water, fiber and some minerals remain. Only certain fibers can be broken down by bacteria (chemical digestion). The colon s task is mostly to reabsorb water and minerals, leaving a paste of fiber and feces for excretion (mechanical) via rectum and anus. 3. How is the lining of the small intestine protected from acidic chyme entering from the stomach? The pyloric valve of the lower stomach regulates the amount of chyme that exits into the small intestine, allowing only a little at a time to exit. Also, once chyme enters the small intestine, hormonal messengers signal the pancreas to release alkaline pancreatic juice, bicarbonate, to neutralize the stomach acid that has reached the small intestine. 4. I believe in standing up for yourself and your thoughts, even when it s the harder thing to do. I stand for not letting a toxic relationship define you. This is how I believe in self worth. The intention of the 1993 Industrial Relations Reform Act, for example, was to make enterprise bargaining the main process for determining wages and other conditions of employment. Awards continued to provide effective regulation for employees who were not enjoying the benefits of enterprise bargaining, even if award wages rose slowly and fell well behind wage increases in enterprise agreements (Bray etc al, 2006). The Business Council of Australia s strong support for enterprise bargaining and for a weakened role for arbitration tribunals gradually became the mainstream position among most Australian employers, even among those who had previously supported centralized bargaining (Thornthwaite and Sheldon, 1996). This was the first time in history, in which the unions were excluded from having any involvement in all forms of agreement in relations to employment conditions in the federal jurisdiction. It was at the time of this introduction that it became evident that these agreements would allow employers to begin to de unionise their operations and to accelerate their move towards a non union status. Chuck s ability to get out the car and dying on the side of the road led to this being an autopsy case. First degree burns or hyperemia is any injury caused by heat, which produces redness of the skin. This type of burn does not present any unusual difficulty when embalming or preparing the body. Although it is discolored, we have to be thankful that the skin will just be red, unbroken and has no tissue destruction. For the discoloration, I used a stronger than normal arterial injection solution as a precaution against skin slip, applied massage cream during the embalming process and used cosmetics after embalming to help reduce the visibility of the burns on his hands and face.
