Justice League History
This is the point when everything changes. Flash lost his mother when he was child and he has
carried that weight throughout his life.Until one day he could not handle it. His entire life is a
series of unfortunate events and it broke him. He used the power he was granted to go back in
time to save his mothers life. This caused a time boom. History itself changed. Bruce Wayne died
in the ally 20 years ago instead of his parents so batman is Thomas Wayne. Atlanteans and
Amazoneans are at war. The World is in WWIII. He eventually saw the error of his ways and
stopped himself from saving his mother. Yet when he did so time reset itself. It allowed one
unknown individual to go back and erase ten years of history.... Show more content on

He had been erased with those 10 years. So he went around in the new world hoping someone
could remember him. Since no one knew him he was almost gone from existance until the flash
pulled him out last second. Now Flash, Batman and Wally are in search for who did this.
The new 52 origin of the Justice League is different and more direct from the previous versions.
The Justice Leagues meet up and team up was more absurd and unplanned as it is normally
Batman who brings the team together. It starts off with a few panned attacks in multiple cities.
The Gaurdians(boss of green lanterns which are basically galactc police) send Hal Jordan to
investigate the attacks since Earth is his homeworld. They believe the attacks were extraterrestrial
due to high nergy signals in the area. Hal Jordon heads to Gotham were the latest signal came and
encouters batman. He could not believe his eyes that Batman was actually real. Batman was
fighting an extraterrestrial but stopped when realized Hal was there. Eventually they both team up
and chase the alien down into the sewers. This is when Hal realizes Batman is just a human and

Seating Structure Design and Active Classroom...
Seating Structure Design and Active Classroom Participation of College Students Mildred S.
Ruedas Most settings of classrooms we see in the Philippines or observed even in our own
schools and universities are almost similar with each other. Specifically concerning the seating
style. Very few from our teachers or professors are changing the style of the seats like instead of
using the Row Style in teaching, change it to Semi circle style. The researcher also noticed that
with the traditional kind of setting in seating arrangement, we hear teachers say, People from the
back, please stop talking or in a scenario of recitation we often hear Other hands please . Many

The active performance of the students can be seen during recitations, asking questions and
participation in class activities. The researcher decided to stick with the variable, recitation of the
students. When a child is active in his or her performance, it is possible that he or she learned a lot
and gets more knowledge. As for the researcher s opinion, seating arrangement is not for a shallow
reason of controlling the students because after all, inside the classroom, there is always an
authority and that is the teacher and authority should be followed for they set order for the better. In
case of a classroom, seating arrangement is a concern for the teachers in order to prevent and lessen
constraints brought by the students that could affect the attention of both the teacher and the
classmates and much worse the learning process that could affect the active participation of the
students. Still, the majority s advantage is being seen. The researcher aims to know the effects of U
style seating arrangement to active participation in terms of first, question and answer portion
between the teacher and students, second, sharing of ideas of the students and lastly, lessening of
disruptive behavior in the class. Also, the researcher wants to know the effects of Row style seating
arrangement to active participation in terms of first, question and answer portion between the

Essay On Hyperpectral Sensors
Hyperspectral remote sensing collects spectral images across the electromagnetic spectrum.
Hyperspectral remote sensing detects many more spectral bands than traditional multispectral
remote sensing. Hyperspectral imagers cover the visible, near infrared, short wave infrared and
thermal infrared spectral ranges which are useful for studying vegetation (Schlerf et al, 2012).
Hyperspectral sensors include the Airborne Visible/Infrared Imaging Spectrometer (AVIRIS) and
the EO 1 satellite, both of which are owned and operated by NASA. These sensors have a higher
spectral resolution and are better able to estimate the biophysical characteristics of vegetation than
multispectral sensors such as MODIS and Landsat (Thenkabail et al, 2000). These... Show more

AVIRIS does this by discerning the fractional covers of bare soil, photosynthetic and non
photosynthetic vegetation at a sub pixel level. AVIRIS has high spatial and spectral resolution
that can map fuel materials and improve fire risk assessment, even around the complex urban
/wildland interface (Jia et al, 2006). AVIRIS data is very useful to researchers and land managers,
yet data availability is often a problem. Acquiring AVIRIS data for the exact area and growing
season that a researcher requires is often a challenge (Goetz, 2009). For this reason, hyperspectral
satellite data from the NASA EO 1 mission is more commonly used. The Hyperion hyperspectral
imaging spectrometer is part of the NASA EO 1 mission. The EO 1mission is part of the New
Millennium Program which is a program designed to drastically reduce the cost of satellite remote
sensing while improving the instrumentation quality. The EO 1 platform was launched on
November 24, 2000 and it now contains the Advanced Land Imager and the LEISA Atmospheric
Corrector in addition to the Hyperion Imaging Spectrometer. Hyperion boasts an impressive 10
nanometer spectral resolution and a 30 meter spatial resolution. Hyperion is currently in orbit one
minute behind the Landsat 7 satellite (Pearlman et al, 2001). Hyperion data is often

Nosferatu Outcome One Analysis
Outcome One is the ability to write in a way that reaches one s intended audience. That means the
author must understand the differences between audiences, genres, and formal versus informal
writing. For instance, while writing a movie review, the author assumes the reader has not seen the
movie. Therefore, to be able to reach the intended audience, the author must summarize the movie
s plot and specific scenes to familiarize the reader before they reveal why they liked or disliked the
film.
Outcome One is important because if one does not take their audience into account, it can produce
inconsistencies that lead the audience to be confused on the paper s intended purpose. A formal
paper should address the audience respectfully, and if a writer were to constantly use slang within
the piece, it could be regarded as being disrespectful. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

expected. I show that I know how to use Outcome One because I do not explain what parallel
editing is and I do not introduce Ellen to the audience. Because the paper asks to evaluate the
techniques used in the film, neither of those aspects are necessary to construct a successful paper.

Essay on Reintroducing the Wolf to Yellowstone
Reintroducing the Wolf to Yellowstone
Wolves have always been a symbol of the wild, free in spirit and roamers of the land. These
animals are considered majestic and protectors of the wilderness. They have always roamed the
western United States, although their population has fluctuated over time. Over the past 10 years
wolf reintroduction into YellowstoneNational Park has been a controversial topic to those of the
United States. As of 1995, wolves have been reintroduced into the park. This has come with some
strong opposition and yet has prevailed. The future of the wolf in Yellowstone park is now looking
bright, although not certain since there still are those who want them banished again.

Created in 1872 by the department of the Interior, the park was developed by congress for
preservation of its natural curiosities or wonders and prohibiting wanton destruction of its fish and
game (defenders). Wolves were protected in Yellowstone.
Wolves lived in the park for forty years, with claimed increasing nuisance to outsiders. The
people around Yellowstone were complaining that the wolves, basically a nuisance to society,
were killing animal. Thus after discussions and studies, congress agreed and the wolf
extermination began. In 1914, the Yellowstone wolf extirpation campaign began after congress
appropriated funds for destroying wolves, prairie dogs, and other animals injurious to
agriculture and animal husbandry on public lands (defenders). The killing of wolves continued
until 1926 when the last two wolf pups of some 136 wolves were killed on a poisoned bison
carcass (defenders). The eradication of wolves by hunting and other means soon cleared out most
wolves in all areas of the United States. By the 1940 s humans had eliminated red and gray wolves
from almost all of their historic range in the contiguous 48 states (Noecker).
For a number of years the wolves were not missed by most people, the ranchers and farmers were
happy to have the pests gone. Coyotes,

Examples Of Categorisation
Categorisation is not a matter to be taken lightly. There is nothing more basic than categorisation to
our thought, perception, action and speech. Every time we see something as kind of thing, for
example, a tree, we are categorising. Whenever we reason about kinds of things (...) we are
employing categories. Whenever we intentionally perform any kind of action (...) we are using
categories. (Lakoff 1987: 6)
We categorise all physical objects and motor activities we come across in our everyday life and we
make decisions based on those categories. Without the ability to categorise, we could not function at
all, either in the physical world or in our social and intellectual lives. An understanding of how we
categorise is central to any understanding of how we think and how we function, and therefore
central to an understanding of what makes us human . (Lakoff 1987: 6) Although traditional
Aristotelian view on categories provides answers that differ from the recent research, both classical
and cognitive theories see categorisation as crucial to understanding how human beings make sense
of experience and how they communicate. Categorization is basic to human thought, perception,
action, and speech. It is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Analysis Of The Article Western Hemisphere
Original Story: Western Hemisphere, October 1, 2015:
Oregon Shooting at Umpqua College On October 1, 2015, a tragic and senseless shooting occurred
in Oregon at Umpqua Community College that led to the death of eight students and one assistant
professor (Vanderhart). Immediately following the shooting, the all too familiar flurry of promises
and apologies crowded the air alongside the sorrow and mourning that came to fruition. Berating the
attacker, politicians mentioned how this behavior would not be tolerated and needed to be stopped.
Somehow this has become routine, President Obama said on the shootings. The reporting is

Considering that the United States has an extremely high number of firearms per capita and very
flimsy gun laws, these statistics cannot be said to exist without reason (Sanders). Even worse is
that the problem has only exacerbated in current years, continuing a trend that has insidiously
been creeping up on the United States. As indicated in Figure 1, an analysis from the Harvard
School of Public Health and Northeastern University showed that the average time between a
shooting from 2011 2014 was approximately two hundred days. Similarly, the average between
2011 and 2014 was just a measly sixty four days (Chalabi). Even more surprising is that amongst
all the raucous, the general sentiment towards guns in the U.S. has become largely pro ownership.
Google Trends, which is a product of Google Inc., shows how often a particular search phrase is
input compared to the total search volume across numerous regions across the planet. Its results
indicate that over the years, sentiment has shifted from gun control to ownership (Google). Perhaps
the reason for this shift is an indicator of patience running out for certain politicians that have sworn
to increase safety by taking guns from the hands

Andrew Marvell, “to His Coy Mistress”
Andrew Marvell, To His Coy Mistress In To His Coy Mistress the speaker carefully constructs a
subtle and logical argument as to why his addressee should sexually unite with him. The speaker
attempts this proposition through finesse in manipulating reason, form and imagery. The reasoning
employed would be familiar to a reader educated in Renaissance England, as it is reminiscent of
classical philosophical logic, entailing a statement, a counter statement and a resolution. In line with
this method Marvell s speaker codes his argument in classical imagery. To understand this argument
I will be approaching the poem in three clearly defined sections, which are denoted in the poem
with indented lines. The first of these section... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The next section runs from lines 21 to 32, here the speaker moves away from the hypothetical to
reality but retains the melodramatic language used in the previous section to sustain the tenacity
of his points. Time here is portrayed as chasing the speaker as opposed to being something the
speaker is in control of as in the end of the last section. This is done using the image of a winged
chariot (l.22), this has classical associations with Greek mythology which relates to his form of
argument. The meter of the poem is restrictively regular, this structure emphasises the idea that
time is constantly progressing; reflecting the speaker s argument. Space is no longer inhabited by
images of movement and life like the rivers previously mentioned but instead: before us lie
/ Deserts of vast eternity (ll. 23 4). The desert has strong connotations with deathliness, an issue
that the speaker gruesomely develops upon and progresses within this section. The speaker implies
on lines 26 7 that the only exploration of the mistress s body that will be undertaken will be by the
worms that are decomposing her body if she remains in her coy state. This thought that her sexuality
should not be wasted is elaborated upon with a crude pun on line 29: And your quaint honor turn to
dust which, as the Norton Anthology of Poetry explains in the footnote, is a play on the Middle
English noun queynte which means female genitals. These images of

The State Of Nature Is An Important And Relevant...
Erich Harkema
Prof. Wolfe
10/1/14
Intro: The state of nature is an important and relevant philosophical idea that has been discussed
and debated for a long time. The reason it is such a key topic in philosophy is it delves into the
reasoning behind why man had to create political society. In order to properly understand the
philosophy of the state of nature it is important to look at conflicting viewpoints about it in order to
understand it with less bias. Thomas Hobbes and Jean Jacques Rosseau both have differing
viewpoints regarding the state of nature. Hobbes feels that man s natural state is cowardly, fearful,
almost paranoid, so man created political society in order to protect himself. Rosseau, on the other
hand, feels that man was much happier before political society was created. Their viewpoints differ
regarding the state of nature, man s phase after leasing their state of nature, and the basis and
legitimacy of the social contract.
Hobbes and Rousseau s views on man s state of nature are quite different. Hobbes feels that man
is naturally brutish, and constantly in a state of misery due to the fact that everyone else is your
adversary and may act as they see fit. Due to this natural state, anyone could simply kill you in your
sleep, like the coward that they naturally are. Hobbes felt that because man did not understand good
and evil, man responds with violence or panic: Hobbes maintains that man is naturally intrepid and
seeks only to attack and fight...And

Why Are Counselling Theories So Important
Why is counselling theories so important? As Mental Health Counsellors in training, we know
inherently that we must understand counselling theories, but why? When we understand why we
are doing something, we have a deeper understanding and appreciation of it, which tends to lead
toward appropriate use. And what could be more important in the field of counselling than the
appropriate use of counselling theories? According to MastersinCounselling.org Theory is the set of
rules that is proposed to best explain an observed or hypothesized phenomenon. In counselling,
theory gives a counsellors a way of consistently understanding and interpreting human thought,

Mishima Yukio Identity
Masks and alternate identity is a major theme in Mishima Yukio s Confessions of a Mask. The
narrator believes that throughout his youth, he had been playing a role on a stage to hide his real
self. However, contrary to what the narrator claims, throughout the novel, he is not playing the
role of another personality. He is simply hiding. It is only in the conclusion, when the when the
war is over, and the need for order and principle and everyday life is restored, that he finally sees
the creation of his other identity В– the masculine figure that conforms to the society s idea of men.
Before he reaches puberty, the narrator is oblivious to the differences between his peers and
himself В– he simply assumes that everybody else is just... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He then has his misconception that he is the only boy who has the complexity to wear a mask.
Instead, he comes to believe that their appearance and action perfectly conformed to what they
really are. While his peers could be their natural selves, he must put on a mask and gain control
over [his] consciousness. And thus he comes to realize that the difference that separates him
from his peers, other than his sexual orientation, is the mask and the secret, shameful portion of
[his] mind that hides behind it. Contrary to his belief, the narrator does not have a mask on.
Although the narrator believes in a misconception that he is В‘playing the role of a boy, when in
fact, what he considers to be a mask is simply his body and his male appearance. The narrator is
never in a real need to В‘play a role because nobody really actively tries to find out who he really
is. His peers, based on his appearance, all assume that he shares the same sexual orientation as they
do. Furthermore, the male body, for the narrator, the male body has significance in the narrator s
mind. With their perfect, muscular body, Omi, St. Sebastian, and Yakumo all have the definition of
the perfection of life and manhood. To the narrator, the body is not only a manifestation of
manliness, it is the embodiment of the untamed

Joint Infringement Defense Paper
Federal Circuit Upholds Joint Infringement Defense Recently, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the
Federal Circuit announced its 2 1 decision in Akamai Techs., Inc. v. Limelight Networks, Inc.,
upholding the joint infringement defense under which a patent cannot be infringed upon if the
infringement relies on two or more parties acting independently. A June 2014 ruling by the U.S.
Supreme Court in Limelight Networks v. Akamai reversed a 2012 decision by the Federal Circuit
that had held Limelight liable for infringing an Akamai patent that covered methods for storing and

The Supreme Court struck down this concept of divided infringement, saying that for infringement
to apply, all the steps must be performed by a single entity or entities joined together via contract or
other arrangements. Applying the June 2014 Supreme Court decision, the Federal Circuit found
that Limelight did not control or direct the actions of its clients. Although a contract existed
between Limelight and its clients, the contract did not require clients to perform certain steps that
Limelight did not itself perform. Consequently, Limelight committed no direct infringement and
therefore, there was no indirect infringement. The Akamai case has potential wide ranging
implications in patent litigation and transactional law pertaining to joint technology ventures. The
case has been litigated since 2006. Following this latest Federal Circuit decision, Akamai
announced that it would seek a Federal Circuit en banc review of the most recent ruling and, if
necessary, take the joint infringement issue to the U.S. Supreme

Examples Of John Is Falling In Love
1.Introduction
1.1What is Aspect? Aspect refers to how an event or action is to be viewed with respect to time,
rather than to its actual location in time. We can illustrate this using the following examples:
[1] John fell in love on his eighteenth birthday
[2] John has fallen in love
[3] John is falling in love
In [1], the verb fell tells us that John fell in love in the past, and specifically on his eighteenth
birthday. This is a simple past tense verb.
In [2] also, the action took place in the past, but it is implied that it took place quite recently.
Furthermore, it is implied that is still relevant at the time of speaking John has fallen in love, and
that s why he s behaving the way he is. It is worth noting that we cannot ... Show more content on

Photography and The Gothic
The photographs taken by Terry Evans in the collection Heartland show a range of perspectives of
the Midwest prairie. Heartland displays characteristics of the traditional Gothic through the
combination of wide landscapes and dilapidated factories. Photos from three collections portray
the transition of the untouched landscape to an overgrown and gothic scene. The first photos of
the gothic transition come from the Prairie Images of Ground and Sky collection. The collection
shows untouched nature that gives a feeling of the sublime. It shows wide green expanses, bathed
in warm light, that shows a raw beauty and goodness created by nature. This feeling of the sublime

This feeling is better reflected in the Matfield Green collection that depicts the green expanse that
is similar to the Prairie Images of Ground and Sky collection but also includes things such as
railroads and power lines that show that the area is populated. This collection adds an aspect of the
isolated landscape and fear of isolation because there is a sparse dotting of humans across the large
expanse that gives the viewer the knowledge that there are inhabitants around, but not seen or
directly noticed. The element of isolation in nature is demonstrated in The Mysteries of Udolpho
and The Turn of the Screw by Udolpho and the House at Bly through their setting in isolated
landscapes with weak tethers to the rest of civilization. The idea of overcoming this isolation is
also present in the novels. Emily in The Mysteries of Udolpho escapes the isolation to safety. The
Governess in The Turn of the Screw hopes to do the same by connection with the Man from
Harley Street but is not as lucky. The effect of the isolated landscape with an unknown element
causes the reader and viewer to become suspicious of their surroundings and uneasy with the
sublime landscape due to the possibility that something evil is residing within it and give a more
traditional gothic feel. The third collection that completes a gothic picture of the Midwest shows
the ruins of the prairie. Steel Work

As the principal question is to examine how we experience, perceive and interact with the site
through our senses and body, in this section I present excerpts from the interview transcripts which
are then analysed to obtain an understanding of sensory qualities of the site. In any site dance, it is
not only the performers who are interrogating spacethrough movements, but it also extends to an
audience who experiences it. For a better structuring, I have divided this section into two parts: the
first part focuses on how the dancers engage to depict the site through various sensory receptors and
the latter part discusses the multiple constructions of the sites through the viewers sensuous
subjectivity. Through these sections I endeavour to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Dusk the performance is designed imaginatively to retrace the histories of the place and to
acknowledge the land (as evidenced in set of movement vocabularies built upon bhumi namaskar),
agreed by Harrison and Subramaniam. Both Subramaniam and Harrison s narratives contained
abundant tactile metaphors about having contacts with grass underfoot (Fig 5.5.1.1). Subramaniam
informed me that: We had choreographed and rehearsed in a studio, so the texture of the grass
made it difficult to move initially (Facebook interview, April 29, 2013).
From the transcription I found that the dancers variously depicted the site as: soft , resistant ,
hard , uneven (texture), huge , small , magnanimous (size), airy , fresh , stuffy (olfactory),
illuminated , dark (visibility) and sacred (belief). As most of the dance artists and dancers agreed
that it was meant to pay tribute to the site, I narrow down my discussion to the concept of
sacredness drawing on a set of three selected photos and narratives. Subramaniam said that: The
stones felt sacred, each was feeling like a deity with personality and compassion. We were blessed
with extraordinarily good weather and the sun provided perfect lighting (Facebook interview, April

These questionnaires included questions that not only concerns men and women but of other

Review Of The Of The Castle Corridor
Worn out from spending ages getting Gawain settled into his bedchamber, Perceval lumbered
down the castle corridor and made it to his door. Carefully, he entered his quarters and took a
quick glance around the room; it was empty. His wife and their baby might be visiting with Carina,
or Joan might have taken Percy along on a patient visit.
Joan was an apprentice to Pawl, the Court Healer, and she had just started seeing a few patients
again here and there eight weeks after Percy s birth. Perceval would never stand in the way of
his wife s ambition to be a healer, but he worried about her returning to her duties so soon after
having the baby, even with an abbreviated schedule. She did not have to work, as Perceval had

Relaxed, Perceval s thoughts drifted to the last time he and Joan had sex, which had been right
before Percy s birth. Other knights complained to him sex with a pregnant spouse was awkward
and some did not care for it, and went so far as to visit the bawdy house instead, but Perceval
thought they were all mad. Pregnant, Joan had been more gorgeous than ever, with her breasts full

alluring and sexy about it that was hard to define.
Now, she lamented she looked like a deflated pig s bladder after birth, but Perceval declared that

Essay on Killer Angels by Michael Shaara
Killer Angels by Michael Shaara
Most people think of the Civil War as a military battle between the North and South. Without
studying the subject, they do not appreciate the facts that make up this historical event. When one
reads the novel, Killer Angels, the reader is given a much better perception and understanding of
what actually happened during the war. Killer Angels, by Michael Shaara, is a realistic historical
depiction of the great battle of Gettysburg, which left 50,000 Confederate and Union soldiers dead,
wounded, or missing.
The novel is set up in chronological order of events that took place during the four days of the
bloody and decisive battle of the Civil War. The tale is told from an alternating north and south...

Little Round Top was very moving and courageous. I realized all the things the men had to give
up and how amazing it was to see that they still had hope they would win and be back home with
their families. I enjoyed how the book made me feel like I was directly involved with the incidents
that occurred. The book instills in one s mind what a battle fought during the Civil War was
actually like. This is a tremendously moving novel, completely unforgettable.
Throughout the book, the reader is exposed to the pain, difficulty, anguish, and other dilemmas

pain expressed as General Lee realizes that he is close to losing the war, as quoted in the book, No

U.S. Health Care Delivery System
Term Paper
Margarita Blanco
March.29th, 2010
Managed care was started as early as the 1900 s, the cited pioneer of the structured system of
care that is known today as Managed Care is Dr. Michael Shadid. His goal was to help meet the
health care needs of a certain groups of people. Such as: rural residents, workers and families in
the lumber, mining and railroad industries; the enrollees paid a set fee to physicians who then
delivered care under the terms of their agreement. By 1929 the Los Angeles department of water

If you choose to go outside of your network for health care you will get charge a deductible like a
PPO plan, charges will be about 300 dollars for and individual or 600 dollars for a family. For some
reason when I was researching managed care majority of the websites I came across never
mentioned Exclusive Provider Organization [EPO] then I finally came across it. Exclusive
Provider Organization [EPO] is the type of managed care that if you get healthcare outside of
your network you will have to pay for it out of pocket, so its not like a Point of Service where
you ll get charged a deductible or a percentage in this case your on your own. Being that EPO
member are restricted to in network doctors they are able to negotiate prices. EPO does charge co
payments each visit that ranges from 20 30$ and charge a monthly premiums and deductibles. I
chose to save the best for last; I will be talking briefly about Health Maintenance Organization
[HMO] as well as its advantages and disadvantages. I chose HMO because it was the first form of
Managed Care. The earliest from of HMOs can be seen in a number of prepaid health plans
tracing back to 1910 the western clinic in Tahoma, Washington offered lumber mills owners and
their employees certain medical services from is providers for a premium of 50 cents. However; the
first HMO considered in the United States was the Ross Loss Medical Group in 1929 as I said
earlier.

The Controversy Of Kurt Cobain s Death
For over 20 years we have been told by media, investigators, and even those closest to Kurt
Cobain himself that his death was a suicide, but as more details are revealed and more people
come forward, there is one question that hangs in the air: Was Kurt Cobain murdered? On April
8, 1994, Nirvana frontman, Kurt Cobain was found dead in the greenhouse of his home in
Seattle, Washington. According to the coroner that examined Cobain, he had been dead about
three days before he was found (Grove). Only just four days before his death, he escaped from
Exodus Recovery Center, where he was staying to get help for his drug addiction. The same day
that he escaped was the last day that he ever spoke to his wife, Courtney Love. Although it is
widely believed that Kurt Cobain killed himself, with all the facts and evidence provided, it is
apparent and obvious that Courtney Love killed Kurt Cobain. To begin, Kurt and Courtney s
marriage was failing. This was something that everyone around them could see. Kurt had been
planning to divorce Courtney and then move out of the country. This exasperated Courtney,
causing her to want to get back at Kurt for wanting to leave her and their two year old daughter.
This getting back at him would be achieved by killing him and acquiring all of his riches,... Show

Not only did Kurt supposedly shoot himself, but he had also been injected with three times the
lethal dose of heroin (Grant). There is no way that he would have been able to have that much
heroin in his system and still be functioning enough to shoot himself. Doctors all agree that as soon
as that much heroin hit his system, he would have either immediately gone unconscious or even
died. Also, there were no fingerprints on the shotgun he used to kill himself. How could that be
possible if he shot himself with it? Someone was obviously trying to cover their

Definition Of Murder
Every kid grows up being told what is right and what is wrong. Do not take the other kids toys
that is bad. Share your snack that is good. The idea of bad feels elementary; it is something we
have been surrounded by our whole life. However, the term might not be so easily defined.
Murder is considered unmoral in nearly every culture, however every culture sends people to war.
Murder is the act of taking another life, but is defined loosely. Soldiers are not considered murders,
and rightfully so, even though they take lives. Instead of changing the ideas surrounding murder the
definition of murder is changed. What was once considered a violent, cruel act is now seen as
heroism. The circumstances that surround the act define the act itself.

Guantanamo Bay is Not Cool
America is better off if Guantanamo Bay was shut down.
The Politics of GuantГЎnamo. The Economist. The Economist Newspaper, 18 Oct. 2014. Web.
Nov. 2015.1 President Obama called for Guantanamo Bay to be shut down back in 2009. It is
now 2015 and Guantanamo Bay is still open and still holding many types of prisoners.
Guantanamo Bay mainly holds suspected terrorists, but also holds other types of prisoners.
Prisoners being held captive have been imprisoned and have yet to have a trial. In other words,
some are just being held captive under suspicion. Would America be better off if Guantanamo Bay
was closed and those who have been imprisoned either transferred to another prison or essentially
freed?
Guantanamo Bay opened for its main purpose in late 2001 shortly after the United States went to
Afghanistan after the September 11 attacks2. Since 2001, Guantanamo Bay has held around 800
people. 2002 was when the first suspected terrorist was imprisoned and since then the numbers
have been slowly decreasing. Slowly prisoners have been found innocent or have had lack of
evidence to prove that they are guilty, but are still being held captive.3 There are a few reasons as
to why those who have been cleared to be transferred or released but have not been.
One reason is that those who have been in Guantanamo Bay for years have no place to go. They
have been held captive for so long that their home country do not want them back. Another reason is

Some strange reawakening prompted the Janta Party government under Bharat Ratna Morarji

a mandate to identify the socially or educationally backward, based on additional parameters. The
commission brought in 11 socio economic and educational indicators to determine backwardness

Johnson, Patterson, and O Connell (2013) noted that A3 report incorporation effectively
addresses process improvement in the healthcare industry. Dombrowski and Mielke (2013)
discussed the foundational principle of Gemba in the workplace. Gemba is a Japanese term
applied to organizational leaders who observe the workplace to gain knowledge and make
decisions based on data and observations (Hossen, 2015). In the development of the product or
service, organizational leaders observe the process to identify the root cause of problems or
opportunities (Dombrowski Mielke, 2013). Organizational leaders avoid defects by identifying
and addressing problems through the Gemba process (Hossen, 2015). Critchley (2015) discussed
the spaghetti diagram as a tool to document movement of a product or individual. To develop a
spaghetti diagram, Tu et al. (2012) wrote that the observer needs an outline and create a structural
diagram of the physical location. The observer outlines and traces the steps that an individual takes

The Knight portrays what every man, woman and child must inevitably decide on: to expose their

Parent Support Groups Can Reduce Child Abuse Essay
Many parents lack the skills necessary to properly teach and discipline their children. As a result,
out of pure frustration, parents lash out physically and/or verbally. Hitting a child or yelling at
one has detrimental long term effects. Parents to be need to be given strategies for dealing with
discipline issues. Support groups should also offer parent training. When parents have had a hard
day, whether due to work, family, or other persons or events, they tend to lash out without a
thought at the misbehaving child. The parent lets his or her anger build up, unable to release it
toward the appropriate situation he or she is actually frustrated with. It s so easy to get caught up
in their moment of frenzy. It s hard to stand... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, it is it is not illegal for children to endure this type of punishment. Even more
unbelievable, priests say that the bible even promotes it. One priest, Reverend Ronald E.
Williams, says that a parent should use a wooden paddle and any unwillingness to use physical
correction is child abuse . The bible can also be used to vindicate slavery, suppression of women,
polygamy, incest, and infanticide (The Humanist 2000). While all these inhumane actions are
illegal, why then is it appropriate to abuse a child out of anger or frustration. Unbeknownst to
most parents, hitting or yelling at a child has pernicious effects throughout that child s lifetime.
Once a child is hit so many times, hitting becomes a learned behavior that will follow him or her
from school days where they get into fights, into marriage, where they will possibly hit their
spouse, and eventually will lead into parenthood and become a form of discipline to their
children. The New York Post says that research indicates that when a child is spanked it could
result in sexualized behavior and/or sexual deviancy. When a parent yells at a child, he teaches that
child that it is an appropriate outlet for the child s frustrations. Hitting or yelling will also result in
worse behaviors

Counselor s Assessment
In the lives of counselor s assessment plays a great role. Assessments are what shows the
counselor what it is that their client is in need of help in. Like our book states, assessment is a
complex, problem solving process that allows us to collect information in order to better serve
our client (Drummond, Sheperis, Jones, 2016). I was not aware of how involved counselors are
in the testing process until I began this class. I now see that assessments also helps the client
understand their own problems as well, it is just up to us to help them interpret the assessment.
When using various assessments in counseling, we have to be aware of our clientele and culture
we are working in. As counselors, we are to be conscious of controversies in assessments such as
privacy invasions, bias test, and even the pressure of the assessment of the children. We are
there to help alleviate and to insure these problems do not come to rise. Statistics in assessment
is important because it enables us to keep track of how well or below average a student or group
of students are doing. Statistics is the number report that we are able to visually see. Culturally, we
would need to be aware of the customs, traditions, and values. We need to be mindful of each
student or client s uniqueness and be sure we are equipped with the knowledge to help them
through the assessment. Through the code of ethics and the legal issues we are able to follow
certain standards to prevent insulting or malpractice.

A study of American undergraduates indicated that the beliefs about the nature of life after death

in an internal locus of control and that one s life is owned by God were associated with a more
positive view of the afterlife, as was being Roman Catholic rather than Protestant. The most

factors were that 12.1 percent believe in Heave and Hell. 7.9 percent believe in reincarnation and

differences that were found are that men are not less likely to believe in afterlife but they were less
likely to believe in Heaven, reuniting with loved ones, communication with the living and request
for forgiveness before death. Men were more likely the women to believe that there are material
objects, that spirits have human form, that there is pain, hunger, thirst and that rituals carried out

A Sorrowful Woman Summary
The two stories, A Secret Sorrow by Karen van der Zee and A Sorrowful Woman by Gail Godwin,
discuss women who struggle to fit in their lives/personalities. They both demonstrate the
unhappiness in their lives and how it negatively affects them. Both stories have sorrow in the title to
show the main theme throughout the story, in which they both depict sorrow in their own unique
ways. In A Sorrowful Woman by Godwin, the unidentified woman experiences sorrowful emotions
to her family, where she ends up not speaking or seeing them. Contrary from this, A Secret Sorrow
by van der Zee, the woman is sorrowful due to the fact that she is unable to give her husband the
children he wants. Although both stories illustrate their own unique ways of sorrow in the
characters, in my opinion, A Sorrowful Woman , is the better piece of literature. Both stories
illustrate many differences, but also demonstrate similarities in three main categories, in which
make Godwin s a better piece of literature; predictability, plotline, and endings.
The similarities and differences between the two stories in the category of predictability are
easily visualized. The two stories share many similarities in how the novel progresses, allowing
the reader to make inferences on what will happen next. In the story A Secret Sorrow, it becomes
predictable from the quote, We ll adopt them. There are orphanages the world over, full of children
in need of love and care (van der Zee 37). After reading this quote the reader can infer that the
characters, Faye and Kai, will adopt children, raise them together, and live happily ever after. In
the other story by Godwin, it becomes predictable by the quote, The sight of them made her so
sad and sick she did not want to see them ever again (Godwin 38). This quote is predictable
because the reader can infer that the unnamed woman, will continue to distant herself from her
family because she can t stand the sight of them. Although this is predictable in this story, it
happens to be the only predictable line throughout. Although both stories share that they are
predictable in some areas, but they also both are different in this area. In A Secret Sorrow, the
whole story is predictable because it is

War Is No Poem Analysis
When human beings live together, conflict is inevitable. War is not. Oodles of poems explore
different aspects of the violent theme of conflict. Carol Ann Duffy s War Photographer, Chinua
Achebe s A Mother in a Refugee Camp and Louis MacNeice s Prayer Before Birth portray
conflict through the disasters of warfare. In an akin way, the poem Disabled by Wilfred Owen
displays a youngster whose limbs were lost in the battlefield and is now waiting for death. Piano
by D. H. Lawrence is another poem which depicts a man s reminiscence of his mother, who
might ve died due to some form of conflict. Similar to A Mother In A Refugee Camp is W. H.
Auden s Refugee Blues, both successfully displaying the arduous lives of refugees. Therefore, I
will be analyzing the theme of conflict as well as comparing the above mentioned poems in this
essay. Firstly, what is conflict? Conflict is a form of disagreement or argument, usually a
protracted one. Most of the times, conflict between people leads to a prolonged dispute, violence
and even a clash: known as a war. War is generally the main outcome of conflict; and is quite a
disastrous, disgusting and dreadful one. The catastrophic effects of war on people s lives are
evident in the poems that I am comparing.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is clearly shown in the first line: In his darkroom he is finally alone. The quote also informs
the audience that the poet has returned there to develop photographs after a long, horrifying trip
abroad. The darkroom serves as the metaphor for the photographer s depression. It might also
signify the way humans purposely hide from unpleasant truths. Whereas A Mother In A Refugee
Camp is, quite straightforwardly, set in a refugee camp. However, the setting of Prayer Before
Birth is rather different as there is no set place. The poem is a plea from an unborn child to a
divine power, so the setting might be in the womb of the foetus

Analyzing the Case of C.W. Williams Community Health Center
Introduction
A Community health center can be defined as a center where high quality primary and preventive
healthcare is provided regardless of the ability of the patient s financial situation. There are some
basic characteristics a community health center must possess to be fully functional. Some of which
are:
the population that the health center caters to must be identified as an unserved or underserved one
offering a wide range of health services such as health education, prevention of diseases, treatment
and other social benefits.
Ensuring the members of the board of directors are indigenes of the county and patients of the
community health center.1
The C.W. Williams health center known previously as the Metrolina health center was established
by Dr. Charles Warren who was the first African American staff in the surgical department of North
Carolina s largest hospital alongside some other healthcare leaders. Its mission is primarily to
adequately provide quality and accessible care to the people of Mecklenburg County ensuring
efficient service, effective systems, and personal care with the help of supportive staff in conducive
environments.

Fundamental Elements to Consider When Making Medical...
Short Essay As a matter of ethics and the given law, there are controversial aspects outlining the
fundamental elements an individual is to consider when making medical decisions. Following the
Canadian legal system, adults who understand the consequences of their medical choice have the
ability to decline any medical treatments they would like even if it has the ability to save their lives.
That is the idea of an individual being a self proprietor. The Canadian common law acknowledged
that an individual has the right to control their body. Tort battery, being when unwanted physical

A.C. then appeals in court arguing that her capacity was not assessed in order for them to make
such a decision providing her with the blood transfusion . The case went on to the Supreme Court
of Canada ruled against A.C because the blood transfusion did not violate her rights. But due to this
case, the Supreme Court of Canada found that children may make life and death decisions about
their medical treatment. Justice Rosalie Abella disagreed with the courts decision and stated that
children under the age of sixteen will have the ability to display their mature medical judgment
making capacity , which was stated, in the mature minor doctrine. Currently, in the common laws
mature minor doctrine, a minor patient may possess the maturity to choose or reject a particular
health care treatment without the knowledge or agreement of the parents. This common law policy
averts the need for parental consent. Within Canada, the Ontario Health Care Consent Act also
indicates the law s approach to children s decision making capacity in relation to medical treatment.
Section four of the Act indicates that children have the capacity to make a medical decision if they
can understand the information and can appreciate the consequences therefore, it is not driven by
age, but by the level of wisdom and understanding capacity . This legal element was taken into

Gender, Political, And Economic Equality Of The Sexes
In the words of the famous Nigerian writer, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, a feminist is a person
who believes in the social, political, and economic equality of the sexes. I believe that though
some might argue that ever since women got the right to vote men and women have been equal, it
simply is not so and it is evident in so many different aspects, from a parent s desire to abort a fetus
when they learn the genderis female to the unequal pay in the U.S. working class between the
genders. In all societies men and women have different gender identities assigned to them from
birth which include, but are not limited to differences in dress and actions, social
responsibilities, and of course job roles. We live in a world where a man is ridiculed for taking
his wife s last name or in the case of my mother, the cost of choosing to hyphenate her last name
with my fathers is for her to be singled out and marked as a red flag by United States airport
security every time she travels. We are systematically ingrained to hold men and women to
different standards and roles which then expands into the workforce, creating inequality because in
the fight for the same role the men will eventually dominate over the women. Gender inequality in
the workplace is a very common, important social and economical issue that has been around for
many years and, at today s rate, will be around for the next one hundred years.
There are many dangers worldwide that a person might be exposed to, but

The Human Skin
Your skin is the body s п¬Ѓrst defense mechanism. A barrier against pathogens and water loss, the
human epidermis undergoes a constant renewal process called cornification, as old dead skin
cells, corneocytes, are shed and replaced by cells from the layers below to maintain constant
protection. A defect in the skinbarrier could develop various skin conditions, including atopic
dermatitis. The most common form of eczema, atopic dermatitis is a chronic skin condition
characterized by inflammation and itchy, dry patches of skin. Although no cause has been
determined, researchers focus on studying genetic abnormalities and influences on a defective
epidermal barrier (Sajic, Asiniwasis, Skotnicki Grant, 2012). Mutations in the п¬Ѓlaggrin gene,
with environmental factors that further damage the skin s protective barrier, are one of many
aspects contributing to the cracked skin and inflammation of atopic dermatitis.
Filaggrin is an important protein in cornification that contributes to the strength and moisture of
the stratum corneum, or topmost layer of the skin, through formation of the cornified envelope
and maintenance of the natural moisturizing factor. The precursor to filaggrin is profilaggrin,
a protein in keratohyalin F granules at the granular epidermal layer. As the granular cells transition
to the stratum corneum during cornification, serine activated proteases proteotypically cleave
profilaggrin into filaggrin peptides (McLean Irvine, 2012). The filaggrin then binds to and

The Wife s Lament Analysis
What is exile? Exile is the action of one being kicked out of their home or native land, usually as a
punishment. According to Anglo Saxons, all exile is a model of the banishment of humankind
from its rightful place in Heaven. Exile is a pretty frequent theme of Anglo Saxon literature by
symbolizing this in many different scenarios and using different characters and places. Since the
religionof christianitywas so important to the Anglo Saxons, this was a scary thing for many of
them to find in their literature. After one examines the lyrics in The Seafarer, The Wanderer, and
The Wife s Lament, one will notice that exile is included in all three of these Anglo Saxon stories.
In each of these stories, the theme of exile is prominently emphasized through at least one detail.
For example, in the stories The Seafarer and The Wanderer, the theme of exile is demonstrated and
emphasized through the use of water. The narrators in these stories are on sea voyages and water is
used to represent their separation, or exile, from their original home. In the story The Wife s
Lament, the theme of exile is demonstrated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The husband mysteriously left the wife one day without returning which caused the narrator s
pitiful isolation. Eventually during her suffering, she decides that she needs to go out to try to

Moreover, the narrator is left to continue suffering from her exile. My man s kinsmen began to
plot by darkened thought to divide us two so we most widely in the world s kingdom lived
wretchedly and I suffered longing (lns. 11 14). Since exile is supposed to represent the separation
of people from christianity according to Anglo Saxons, this story could have evoked sadness and
fear onto Anglo Saxons by being a sorrowful way to symbolize this

What Role Does Self Sufficiency Play In Literature
Self sufficiency plays the biggest role in influencing the characters in the books we have read
this year because they use self sufficiency as a survival tactic. The Glass Castle most clearly
exemplifies the idea that the kids in the book use self sufficiency as a way to survive, because if
they didn t they wouldn t survive. There are also some examples of it in the other two books we
ve read like The House On Mango Street, and To Kill A Mockingbird.
Brian and I became expert forgers. We picked crab apples and wild blackberries and pawpaws
during the summer and fall, and we swiped ears of corn from old man Wilson s farm (Walls 172).

The day we went was rather busy and quite hard to get a moment alone on the crossing for a

A Critical Analysis Of The Theory Of Endosymbiosis And It...
A critical analysis of the Theory of Endosymbiosis and it s supporting evidence
Abstract
Introduction
The endosymbiotic theory is an evolutionary theory explaining the origin of Eukaryotic cells from
Prokaryotic, and is at present; the most widely accepted evolutionary theory of the Eukaryotic cell.
The theory explains the origins of mitochondria and chloroplasts and their double membranes,
suggesting that chloroplasts and mitochondria represent formerly free living bacteria that were
taken into a cell as an endosymbiont. Molecular evidence suggests that mitochondria developed
from proteobacteria and chloroplasts from cyanobacteria. It is thought that the Prokaryotes may
have entered the host cell as a parasite or source of nutrient for the host, however avoided digestion.
The primitive chloroplast may have provided the host cell with crucial nutrients, and the primitive
mitochondrion may have aided the exploitation of oxygen for the extraction of energy. In return the
host cell offered a protected environment for the Prokaryotes to live in. This was the beginning of a
symbiotic relationship between the primitive chloroplast and mitochondria, and the Eukaryotic cell.
The theory was ridiculed for years due its controversial nature, however in 1967 Lynn Margulis, a
biologist from Boston University, developed the modern Serial Endosymbiosis Theory.
Primary Endosymbiosis vs. Secondary Endosymbiosis
Primary endosymbiosis involves the engulfment of a bacterium by another

Nitrates And Nitrites
The two primary metabolic processes nitrates undergo are through the entero salivary circulation
pathway and the nitrate nitrate NO pathway (Nitrate/Nitrite Toxicity 2013: Biologic Fate of Nitrates
and Nitrites, 2013). Inorganic nitrates and nitrites consumed through food and water are first
reduced in the oral cavity by bacteria present on the tongue. This reductive activity converts nitrates
to nitrites where it can further be metabolized through the gastrointestinal tract. After conversion of
nitrites to nitric oxide it is absorbed via the small intestine where it is distributed into circulation.
Once the nitrites and nitric oxide enter the circulatory system it reaches target tissues where it may
be used for cellular activity. It is found that 25% of nitrites are concentrated in the salivary... Show

This reductive activity is absent of nitric oxide synthase and is carried out by the bacteria present in
the mouth. Bacteria on the tongue is capable of reducing nitrates to nitrites through its own
metabolic activity. This metabolic process is done in situ, or locally. The newly converted nitrites
then enter the gastric stomach where acidic conditions convert the nitrites to nitric oxide.
Remaining nitrites and nitrates that were not converted in the stomach are absorbed via the small
intestine where it is distributed to the kidneys and salivary glands. An active uptake of nitrates from
the blood allows entry into the salivary gland where the peptide, sialin, makes transportation and
excretion available. The bacteria present in the mouth reduces nitrates to nitrites and does not
require nitric oxide synthase activity (Lundberg, Weitzberg, Gladwin, 2008). In this metabolic
pathway, the conversion of nitrates to nitrates are a result of the bacteria found on the tongue to
carry out reduction activity of the dietary consumption of

Parkinson s Disease Pathology
Parkinson s disease (PD) is a common neurodegenerative disorder characterized by the classical
motor symptoms: resting tremor, bradykinesia, akinesia, rigidity and postural instability. Although
the complete PD pathogenesis is not well understood, we have gained a better understanding of
its etiology, pathology, and molecular mechanisms, thanks to the use of animal models.
Importantly, none of the current available models is able to fully recapitulate PD symptoms and
pathology. Each model is based on the production of one or few pathological processes of PD,
which are either artificially induced in a way that is seldom relevant to the disease (like toxin
models), or that produces only a small part of the pathology (like genetic models). The

George Orwell s Novel, 1984, The Government, Or Big Brother
In George Orwell s Novel 1984, the government, or Big Brother, monitors the people constantly,
forcing them to adhere to laws that eliminate any individual freedoms or thoughts. Winston, the
protagonist, lives in this society as someone who is against this oppression struggling to meet
others who feel the same. He meets a woman named Julia who also a rebel, so both decide to
have a forbidden relationship out of rebellion towards the party. Recruited by his co worker O
brien, Winston is able to join a rebel organization called the brotherhood.. Promptly after Winston
joins the brotherhood; he and Julia are caught and punished by O brien and the party. After all this,
Winston gives up his desire for rebellion towards Big brother and finally accepts his oppression.
Orwell s central argument is to show the potential negative effects of what happens when
government runs without checks to its power. Orwell conveys this argument through his deliberate
arrangement, pessimistic tone, narrative distance and his use of satire. Orwell s arrangement
throughout the book helps to show the reader how hopeless Winston s situation is. This
hopelessness is used by Big brother to force citizens to feel content under the oppression of the
party, eliminating any sentiments of rebellion within the people. Orwell took over two thirds of the
book to eventually show Winston being betrayed by Mr Charrington, the person who sold Winston
the tools(Notebook/Pen) he needed to think independently as

  • 2. Justice League History This is the point when everything changes. Flash lost his mother when he was child and he has carried that weight throughout his life.Until one day he could not handle it. His entire life is a series of unfortunate events and it broke him. He used the power he was granted to go back in time to save his mothers life. This caused a time boom. History itself changed. Bruce Wayne died in the ally 20 years ago instead of his parents so batman is Thomas Wayne. Atlanteans and Amazoneans are at war. The World is in WWIII. He eventually saw the error of his ways and stopped himself from saving his mother. Yet when he did so time reset itself. It allowed one unknown individual to go back and erase ten years of history.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He had been erased with those 10 years. So he went around in the new world hoping someone could remember him. Since no one knew him he was almost gone from existance until the flash pulled him out last second. Now Flash, Batman and Wally are in search for who did this. The new 52 origin of the Justice League is different and more direct from the previous versions. The Justice Leagues meet up and team up was more absurd and unplanned as it is normally Batman who brings the team together. It starts off with a few panned attacks in multiple cities. The Gaurdians(boss of green lanterns which are basically galactc police) send Hal Jordan to investigate the attacks since Earth is his homeworld. They believe the attacks were extraterrestrial due to high nergy signals in the area. Hal Jordon heads to Gotham were the latest signal came and encouters batman. He could not believe his eyes that Batman was actually real. Batman was fighting an extraterrestrial but stopped when realized Hal was there. Eventually they both team up and chase the alien down into the sewers. This is when Hal realizes Batman is just a human and not a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ruedas Most settings of classrooms we see in the Philippines or observed even in our own schools and universities are almost similar with each other. Specifically concerning the seating style. Very few from our teachers or professors are changing the style of the seats like instead of using the Row Style in teaching, change it to Semi circle style. The researcher also noticed that with the traditional kind of setting in seating arrangement, we hear teachers say, People from the back, please stop talking or in a scenario of recitation we often hear Other hands please . Many studies and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The active performance of the students can be seen during recitations, asking questions and participation in class activities. The researcher decided to stick with the variable, recitation of the students. When a child is active in his or her performance, it is possible that he or she learned a lot and gets more knowledge. As for the researcher s opinion, seating arrangement is not for a shallow reason of controlling the students because after all, inside the classroom, there is always an authority and that is the teacher and authority should be followed for they set order for the better. In case of a classroom, seating arrangement is a concern for the teachers in order to prevent and lessen constraints brought by the students that could affect the attention of both the teacher and the classmates and much worse the learning process that could affect the active participation of the students. Still, the majority s advantage is being seen. The researcher aims to know the effects of U style seating arrangement to active participation in terms of first, question and answer portion between the teacher and students, second, sharing of ideas of the students and lastly, lessening of disruptive behavior in the class. Also, the researcher wants to know the effects of Row style seating arrangement to active participation in terms of first, question and answer portion between the teacher and ... • 4. Essay On Hyperpectral Sensors Hyperspectral remote sensing collects spectral images across the electromagnetic spectrum. Hyperspectral remote sensing detects many more spectral bands than traditional multispectral remote sensing. Hyperspectral imagers cover the visible, near infrared, short wave infrared and thermal infrared spectral ranges which are useful for studying vegetation (Schlerf et al, 2012). Hyperspectral sensors include the Airborne Visible/Infrared Imaging Spectrometer (AVIRIS) and the EO 1 satellite, both of which are owned and operated by NASA. These sensors have a higher spectral resolution and are better able to estimate the biophysical characteristics of vegetation than multispectral sensors such as MODIS and Landsat (Thenkabail et al, 2000). These... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... AVIRIS does this by discerning the fractional covers of bare soil, photosynthetic and non photosynthetic vegetation at a sub pixel level. AVIRIS has high spatial and spectral resolution that can map fuel materials and improve fire risk assessment, even around the complex urban /wildland interface (Jia et al, 2006). AVIRIS data is very useful to researchers and land managers, yet data availability is often a problem. Acquiring AVIRIS data for the exact area and growing season that a researcher requires is often a challenge (Goetz, 2009). For this reason, hyperspectral satellite data from the NASA EO 1 mission is more commonly used. The Hyperion hyperspectral imaging spectrometer is part of the NASA EO 1 mission. The EO 1mission is part of the New Millennium Program which is a program designed to drastically reduce the cost of satellite remote sensing while improving the instrumentation quality. The EO 1 platform was launched on November 24, 2000 and it now contains the Advanced Land Imager and the LEISA Atmospheric Corrector in addition to the Hyperion Imaging Spectrometer. Hyperion boasts an impressive 10 nanometer spectral resolution and a 30 meter spatial resolution. Hyperion is currently in orbit one minute behind the Landsat 7 satellite (Pearlman et al, 2001). • 5. Nosferatu Outcome One Analysis Outcome One is the ability to write in a way that reaches one s intended audience. That means the author must understand the differences between audiences, genres, and formal versus informal writing. For instance, while writing a movie review, the author assumes the reader has not seen the movie. Therefore, to be able to reach the intended audience, the author must summarize the movie s plot and specific scenes to familiarize the reader before they reveal why they liked or disliked the film. Outcome One is important because if one does not take their audience into account, it can produce inconsistencies that lead the audience to be confused on the paper s intended purpose. A formal paper should address the audience respectfully, and if a writer were to constantly use slang within the piece, it could be regarded as being disrespectful. ... These animals are considered majestic and protectors of the wilderness. They have always roamed the western United States, although their population has fluctuated over time. Over the past 10 years wolf reintroduction into YellowstoneNational Park has been a controversial topic to those of the United States. As of 1995, wolves have been reintroduced into the park. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Created in 1872 by the department of the Interior, the park was developed by congress for preservation of its natural curiosities or wonders and prohibiting wanton destruction of its fish and game (defenders). Wolves were protected in Yellowstone. Wolves lived in the park for forty years, with claimed increasing nuisance to outsiders. The people around Yellowstone were complaining that the wolves, basically a nuisance to society, were killing animal. Thus after discussions and studies, congress agreed and the wolf extermination began. In 1914, the Yellowstone wolf extirpation campaign began after congress appropriated funds for destroying wolves, prairie dogs, and other animals injurious to agriculture and animal husbandry on public lands (defenders). The killing of wolves continued until 1926 when the last two wolf pups of some 136 wolves were killed on a poisoned bison carcass (defenders). The eradication of wolves by hunting and other means soon cleared out most wolves in all areas of the United States. By the 1940 s humans had eliminated red and gray wolves from almost all of their historic range in the contiguous 48 states (Noecker). • 7. Examples Of Categorisation Categorisation is not a matter to be taken lightly. There is nothing more basic than categorisation to our thought, perception, action and speech. Every time we see something as kind of thing, for example, a tree, we are categorising. Whenever we reason about kinds of things (...) we are employing categories. Whenever we intentionally perform any kind of action (...) we are using categories. (Lakoff 1987: 6) We categorise all physical objects and motor activities we come across in our everyday life and we make decisions based on those categories. Without the ability to categorise, we could not function at all, either in the physical world or in our social and intellectual lives. An understanding of how we categorise is central to any understanding of how we think and how we function, and therefore central to an understanding of what makes us human . (Lakoff 1987: 6) Although traditional Aristotelian view on categories provides answers that differ from the recent research, both classical and cognitive theories see categorisation as crucial to understanding how human beings make sense of experience and how they communicate. Analysis Of The Article Western Hemisphere Original Story: Western Hemisphere, October 1, 2015: Oregon Shooting at Umpqua College On October 1, 2015, a tragic and senseless shooting occurred in Oregon at Umpqua Community College that led to the death of eight students and one assistant professor (Vanderhart). Immediately following the shooting, the all too familiar flurry of promises and apologies crowded the air alongside the sorrow and mourning that came to fruition. Berating the attacker, politicians mentioned how this behavior would not be tolerated and needed to be stopped. Somehow this has become routine, President Obama said on the shootings. Considering that the United States has an extremely high number of firearms per capita and very flimsy gun laws, these statistics cannot be said to exist without reason (Sanders). Even worse is that the problem has only exacerbated in current years, continuing a trend that has insidiously been creeping up on the United States. As indicated in Figure 1, an analysis from the Harvard School of Public Health and Northeastern University showed that the average time between a shooting from 2011 2014 was approximately two hundred days. Similarly, the average between 2011 and 2014 was just a measly sixty four days (Chalabi). Even more surprising is that amongst all the raucous, the general sentiment towards guns in the U.S. has become largely pro ownership. Google Trends, which is a product of Google Inc., shows how often a particular search phrase is input compared to the total search volume across numerous regions across the planet. Its results indicate that over the years, sentiment has shifted from gun control to ownership (Google). Perhaps the reason for this shift is an indicator of patience running out for certain politicians that have sworn to increase safety by taking guns from the hands ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Andrew Marvell, “to His Coy Mistress” Andrew Marvell, To His Coy Mistress In To His Coy Mistress the speaker carefully constructs a subtle and logical argument as to why his addressee should sexually unite with him. The speaker attempts this proposition through finesse in manipulating reason, form and imagery. The reasoning employed would be familiar to a reader educated in Renaissance England, as it is reminiscent of classical philosophical logic, entailing a statement, a counter statement and a resolution. In line with this method Marvell s speaker codes his argument in classical imagery. To understand this argument I will be approaching the poem in three clearly defined sections, which are denoted in the poem with indented lines. The first of these section... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The next section runs from lines 21 to 32, here the speaker moves away from the hypothetical to reality but retains the melodramatic language used in the previous section to sustain the tenacity of his points. Time here is portrayed as chasing the speaker as opposed to being something the speaker is in control of as in the end of the last section. This is done using the image of a winged chariot (l.22), this has classical associations with Greek mythology which relates to his form of argument. The meter of the poem is restrictively regular, this structure emphasises the idea that time is constantly progressing; reflecting the speaker s argument. Space is no longer inhabited by images of movement and life like the rivers previously mentioned but instead: before us lie / Deserts of vast eternity (ll. 23 4). The desert has strong connotations with deathliness, an issue that the speaker gruesomely develops upon and progresses within this section. The speaker implies on lines 26 7 that the only exploration of the mistress s body that will be undertaken will be by the worms that are decomposing her body if she remains in her coy state. This thought that her sexuality should not be wasted is elaborated upon with a crude pun on line 29: And your quaint honor turn to dust which, as the Norton Anthology of Poetry explains in the footnote, is a play on the Middle English noun queynte which means female genitals. • 11. The State Of Nature Is An Important And Relevant... Erich Harkema Prof. Wolfe 10/1/14 Intro: The state of nature is an important and relevant philosophical idea that has been discussed and debated for a long time. The reason it is such a key topic in philosophy is it delves into the reasoning behind why man had to create political society. In order to properly understand the philosophy of the state of nature it is important to look at conflicting viewpoints about it in order to understand it with less bias. Thomas Hobbes and Jean Jacques Rosseau both have differing viewpoints regarding the state of nature. Hobbes feels that man s natural state is cowardly, fearful, almost paranoid, so man created political society in order to protect himself. Rosseau, on the other hand, feels that man was much happier before political society was created. Their viewpoints differ regarding the state of nature, man s phase after leasing their state of nature, and the basis and legitimacy of the social contract. Hobbes and Rousseau s views on man s state of nature are quite different. Hobbes feels that man is naturally brutish, and constantly in a state of misery due to the fact that everyone else is your adversary and may act as they see fit. Due to this natural state, anyone could simply kill you in your sleep, like the coward that they naturally are. Hobbes felt that because man did not understand good and evil, man responds with violence or panic: Hobbes maintains that man is naturally intrepid and seeks only to attack and fight...And ... It is only in the conclusion, when the when the war is over, and the need for order and principle and everyday life is restored, that he finally sees the creation of his other identity В– the masculine figure that conforms to the society s idea of men. And thus he comes to realize that the difference that separates him from his peers, other than his sexual orientation, is the mask and the secret, shameful portion of [his] mind that hides behind it. Although a contract existed between Limelight and its clients, the contract did not require clients to perform certain steps that Limelight did not itself perform. We can illustrate this using the following examples: [1] John fell in love on his eighteenth birthday [2] John has fallen in love [3] John is falling in love In [1], the verb fell tells us that John fell in love in the past, and specifically on his eighteenth birthday. This is a simple past tense verb. In [2] also, the action took place in the past, but it is implied that it took place quite recently. Furthermore, it is implied that is still relevant at the time of speaking John has fallen in love, and that s why he s behaving the way he is. It is worth noting that we cannot ... Heartland displays characteristics of the traditional Gothic through the combination of wide landscapes and dilapidated factories. Photos from three collections portray the transition of the untouched landscape to an overgrown and gothic scene. The first photos of the gothic transition come from the Prairie Images of Ground and Sky collection. The collection shows untouched nature that gives a feeling of the sublime. This feeling is better reflected in the Matfield Green collection that depicts the green expanse that is similar to the Prairie Images of Ground and Sky collection but also includes things such as railroads and power lines that show that the area is populated. This collection adds an aspect of the isolated landscape and fear of isolation because there is a sparse dotting of humans across the large expanse that gives the viewer the knowledge that there are inhabitants around, but not seen or directly noticed. The element of isolation in nature is demonstrated in The Mysteries of Udolpho and The Turn of the Screw by Udolpho and the House at Bly through their setting in isolated landscapes with weak tethers to the rest of civilization. The idea of overcoming this isolation is also present in the novels. Emily in The Mysteries of Udolpho escapes the isolation to safety. The Governess in The Turn of the Screw hopes to do the same by connection with the Man from Harley Street but is not as lucky. The effect of the isolated landscape with an unknown element causes the reader and viewer to become suspicious of their surroundings and uneasy with the sublime landscape due to the possibility that something evil is residing within it and give a more traditional gothic feel. The third collection that completes a gothic picture of the Midwest shows the ruins of the prairie. Steel Work ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As the principal question is to examine how we experience, perceive and interact with the site through our senses and body, in this section I present excerpts from the interview transcripts which are then analysed to obtain an understanding of sensory qualities of the site. In any site dance, it is not only the performers who are interrogating spacethrough movements, but it also extends to an audience who experiences it. Subramaniam informed me that: We had choreographed and rehearsed in a studio, so the texture of the grass made it difficult to move initially (Facebook interview, April 29, 2013). From the transcription I found that the dancers variously depicted the site as: soft , resistant , hard , uneven (texture), huge , small , magnanimous (size), airy , fresh , stuffy (olfactory), illuminated , dark (visibility) and sacred (belief). As most of the dance artists and dancers agreed that it was meant to pay tribute to the site, I narrow down my discussion to the concept of sacredness drawing on a set of three selected photos and narratives. Subramaniam said that: The stones felt sacred, each was feeling like a deity with personality and compassion. We were blessed with extraordinarily good weather and the sun provided perfect lighting (Facebook interview, April 29, 2013). The Controversy Of Kurt Cobain s Death For over 20 years we have been told by media, investigators, and even those closest to Kurt Cobain himself that his death was a suicide, but as more details are revealed and more people come forward, there is one question that hangs in the air: Was Kurt Cobain murdered? On April 8, 1994, Nirvana frontman, Kurt Cobain was found dead in the greenhouse of his home in Seattle, Washington. According to the coroner that examined Cobain, he had been dead about three days before he was found (Grove). Only just four days before his death, he escaped from Exodus Recovery Center, where he was staying to get help for his drug addiction. The same day that he escaped was the last day that he ever spoke to his wife, Courtney Love. Although it is widely believed that Kurt Cobain killed himself, with all the facts and evidence provided, it is apparent and obvious that Courtney Love killed Kurt Cobain. To begin, Kurt and Courtney s marriage was failing. This was something that everyone around them could see. Kurt had been planning to divorce Courtney and then move out of the country. Even more unbelievable, priests say that the bible even promotes it. One priest, Reverend Ronald E. The bible can also be used to vindicate slavery, suppression of women, polygamy, incest, and infanticide (The Humanist 2000). While all these inhumane actions are illegal, why then is it appropriate to abuse a child out of anger or frustration. Unbeknownst to most parents, hitting or yelling at a child has pernicious effects throughout that child s lifetime. Once a child is hit so many times, hitting becomes a learned behavior that will follow him or her from school days where they get into fights, into marriage, where they will possibly hit their spouse, and eventually will lead into parenthood and become a form of discipline to their children. The New York Post says that research indicates that when a child is spanked it could result in sexualized behavior and/or sexual deviancy. When a parent yells at a child, he teaches that child that it is an appropriate outlet for the child s frustrations. Hitting or yelling will also result in worse behaviors ... • 36. Counselor s Assessment In the lives of counselor s assessment plays a great role. Assessments are what shows the counselor what it is that their client is in need of help in. Like our book states, assessment is a complex, problem solving process that allows us to collect information in order to better serve our client (Drummond, Sheperis, Jones, 2016). I was not aware of how involved counselors are in the testing process until I began this class. I now see that assessments also helps the client understand their own problems as well, it is just up to us to help them interpret the assessment. When using various assessments in counseling, we have to be aware of our clientele and culture we are working in. As counselors, we are to be conscious of controversies in assessments such as privacy invasions, bias test, and even the pressure of the assessment of the children. We are there to help alleviate and to insure these problems do not come to rise. Statistics in assessment is important because it enables us to keep track of how well or below average a student or group of students are doing. Statistics is the number report that we are able to visually see. Culturally, we would need to be aware of the customs, traditions, and values. We need to be mindful of each student or client s uniqueness and be sure we are equipped with the knowledge to help them through the assessment. Through the code of ethics and the legal issues we are able to follow certain standards to prevent insulting or malpractice. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Seminar in Individual Differences and Personality Abstract A study of American undergraduates indicated that the beliefs about the nature of life after death were quite complicated. A 41 item questionnaire produced 12 independent groups of beliefs. Belief in an internal locus of control and that one s life is owned by God were associated with a more positive view of the afterlife, as was being Roman Catholic rather than Protestant. The most common beliefs were that one is reunited with family and friends, that the afterlife is comforting, that there is Heaven and that the transition is peaceful, all believed by more than 90 percent of the students. ... Three of the major factors were that 12.1 percent believe in Heave and Hell. 7.9 percent believe in reincarnation and 6.6 percent believed that there ate material objects and sexual desire in the after life. The gender differences that were found are that men are not less likely to believe in afterlife but they were less likely to believe in Heaven, reuniting with loved ones, communication with the living and request for forgiveness before death. Men were more likely the women to believe that there are material objects, that spirits have human form, that there is pain, hunger, thirst and that rituals carried out after death are important. The religious differences they found were that Protestant students were less likely to believe in life after death then Roman Catholic students. On the other hand, Protestant students were more likely to believe that there is Hell and that forgiveness needs to be requested to get into Heaven. One of the strengths that this article has is that they provided a broad hypothesis. • 38. A Sorrowful Woman Summary The two stories, A Secret Sorrow by Karen van der Zee and A Sorrowful Woman by Gail Godwin, discuss women who struggle to fit in their lives/personalities. They both demonstrate the unhappiness in their lives and how it negatively affects them. Both stories have sorrow in the title to show the main theme throughout the story, in which they both depict sorrow in their own unique ways. In A Sorrowful Woman by Godwin, the unidentified woman experiences sorrowful emotions to her family, where she ends up not speaking or seeing them. Contrary from this, A Secret Sorrow by van der Zee, the woman is sorrowful due to the fact that she is unable to give her husband the children he wants. Although both stories illustrate their own unique ways of sorrow in the characters, in my opinion, A Sorrowful Woman , is the better piece of literature. Both stories illustrate many differences, but also demonstrate similarities in three main categories, in which make Godwin s a better piece of literature; predictability, plotline, and endings. The similarities and differences between the two stories in the category of predictability are easily visualized. The two stories share many similarities in how the novel progresses, allowing the reader to make inferences on what will happen next. In the story A Secret Sorrow, it becomes predictable from the quote, We ll adopt them. There are orphanages the world over, full of children in need of love and care (van der Zee 37). After reading this quote the reader can infer that the characters, Faye and Kai, will adopt children, raise them together, and live happily ever after. In the other story by Godwin, it becomes predictable by the quote, The sight of them made her so sad and sick she did not want to see them ever again (Godwin 38). This quote is predictable because the reader can infer that the unnamed woman, will continue to distant herself from her family because she can t stand the sight of them. Although this is predictable in this story, it happens to be the only predictable line throughout. Although both stories share that they are predictable in some areas, but they also both are different in this area. In A Secret Sorrow, the whole story is predictable because it is ... • 40. War Is No Poem Analysis When human beings live together, conflict is inevitable. War is not. Oodles of poems explore different aspects of the violent theme of conflict. Carol Ann Duffy s War Photographer, Chinua Achebe s A Mother in a Refugee Camp and Louis MacNeice s Prayer Before Birth portray conflict through the disasters of warfare. In an akin way, the poem Disabled by Wilfred Owen displays a youngster whose limbs were lost in the battlefield and is now waiting for death. Piano by D. H. Lawrence is another poem which depicts a man s reminiscence of his mother, who might ve died due to some form of conflict. Similar to A Mother In A Refugee Camp is W. H. Auden s Refugee Blues, both successfully displaying the arduous lives of refugees. Therefore, I will be analyzing the theme of conflict as well as comparing the above mentioned poems in this essay. Firstly, what is conflict? Conflict is a form of disagreement or argument, usually a protracted one. Most of the times, conflict between people leads to a prolonged dispute, violence and even a clash: known as a war. War is generally the main outcome of conflict; and is quite a disastrous, disgusting and dreadful one. The catastrophic effects of war on people s lives are evident in the poems that I am comparing.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The quote also informs the audience that the poet has returned there to develop photographs after a long, horrifying trip abroad. Whereas A Mother In A Refugee Camp is, quite straightforwardly, set in a refugee camp. However, the setting of Prayer Before Birth is rather different as there is no set place. Following the Canadian legal system, adults who understand the consequences of their medical choice have the ability to decline any medical treatments they would like even if it has the ability to save their lives. Gender, Political, And Economic Equality Of The Sexes In the words of the famous Nigerian writer, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, a feminist is a person who believes in the social, political, and economic equality of the sexes. I believe that though some might argue that ever since women got the right to vote men and women have been equal, it simply is not so and it is evident in so many different aspects, from a parent s desire to abort a fetus when they learn the genderis female to the unequal pay in the U.S. working class between the genders. In all societies men and women have different gender identities assigned to them from birth which include, but are not limited to differences in dress and actions, social responsibilities, and of course job roles. We live in a world where a man is ridiculed for taking his wife s last name or in the case of my mother, the cost of choosing to hyphenate her last name with my fathers is for her to be singled out and marked as a red flag by United States airport security every time she travels. We are systematically ingrained to hold men and women to different standards and roles which then expands into the workforce, creating inequality because in the fight for the same role the men will eventually dominate over the women. Gender inequality in the workplace is a very common, important social and economical issue that has been around for many years and, at today s rate, will be around for the next one hundred years. A barrier against pathogens and water loss, the human epidermis undergoes a constant renewal process called corniп¬Ѓcation, as old dead skin cells, corneocytes, are shed and replaced by cells from the layers below to maintain constant protection. A defect in the skinbarrier could develop various skin conditions, including atopic dermatitis. The most common form of eczema, atopic dermatitis is a chronic skin condition characterized by inflammation and itchy, dry patches of skin. Although no cause has been determined, researchers focus on studying genetic abnormalities and influences on a defective epidermal barrier (Sajic, Asiniwasis, Skotnicki Grant, 2012). Mutations in the п¬Ѓlaggrin gene, with environmental factors that further damage the skin s protective barrier, are one of many aspects contributing to the cracked skin and inflammation of atopic dermatitis. Filaggrin is an important protein in corniп¬Ѓcation that contributes to the strength and moisture of the stratum corneum, or topmost layer of the skin, through formation of the corniп¬Ѓed envelope and maintenance of the natural moisturizing factor. The precursor to п¬Ѓlaggrin is proп¬Ѓlaggrin, a protein in keratohyalin F granules at the granular epidermal layer. As the granular cells transition to the stratum corneum during cornification, serine activated proteases proteotypically cleave profilaggrin into filaggrin peptides (McLean Irvine, 2012). According to Anglo Saxons, all exile is a model of the banishment of humankind from its rightful place in Heaven. Exile is a pretty frequent theme of Anglo Saxon literature by symbolizing this in many different scenarios and using different characters and places. Since the religionof christianitywas so important to the Anglo Saxons, this was a scary thing for many of them to find in their literature. After one examines the lyrics in The Seafarer, The Wanderer, and The Wife s Lament, one will notice that exile is included in all three of these Anglo Saxon stories. In each of these stories, the theme of exile is prominently emphasized through at least one detail. For example, in the stories The Seafarer and The Wanderer, the theme of exile is demonstrated and emphasized through the use of water. • 50. A Critical Analysis Of The Theory Of Endosymbiosis And It... A critical analysis of the Theory of Endosymbiosis and it s supporting evidence Abstract Introduction The endosymbiotic theory is an evolutionary theory explaining the origin of Eukaryotic cells from Prokaryotic, and is at present; the most widely accepted evolutionary theory of the Eukaryotic cell. The theory explains the origins of mitochondria and chloroplasts and their double membranes, suggesting that chloroplasts and mitochondria represent formerly free living bacteria that were taken into a cell as an endosymbiont. Molecular evidence suggests that mitochondria developed from proteobacteria and chloroplasts from cyanobacteria. It is thought that the Prokaryotes may have entered the host cell as a parasite or source of nutrient for the host, however avoided digestion. The primitive chloroplast may have provided the host cell with crucial nutrients, and the primitive mitochondrion may have aided the exploitation of oxygen for the extraction of energy. In return the host cell offered a protected environment for the Prokaryotes to live in. This was the beginning of a symbiotic relationship between the primitive chloroplast and mitochondria, and the Eukaryotic cell. The theory was ridiculed for years due its controversial nature, however in 1967 Lynn Margulis, a biologist from Boston University, developed the modern Serial Endosymbiosis Theory. Nitrates And Nitrites The two primary metabolic processes nitrates undergo are through the entero salivary circulation pathway and the nitrate nitrate NO pathway (Nitrate/Nitrite Toxicity 2013: Biologic Fate of Nitrates and Nitrites, 2013). Inorganic nitrates and nitrites consumed through food and water are first reduced in the oral cavity by bacteria present on the tongue. This reductive activity converts nitrates to nitrites where it can further be metabolized through the gastrointestinal tract. After conversion of nitrites to nitric oxide it is absorbed via the small intestine where it is distributed into circulation. Once the nitrites and nitric oxide enter the circulatory system it reaches target tissues where it may be used for cellular activity. It is found that 25% of nitrites are concentrated in the salivary... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This reductive activity is absent of nitric oxide synthase and is carried out by the bacteria present in the mouth. Remaining nitrites and nitrates that were not converted in the stomach are absorbed via the small intestine where it is distributed to the kidneys and salivary glands. An active uptake of nitrates from the blood allows entry into the salivary gland where the peptide, sialin, makes transportation and excretion available. The bacteria present in the mouth reduces nitrates to nitrites and does not require nitric oxide synthase activity (Lundberg, Weitzberg, Gladwin, 2008). Winston, the protagonist, lives in this society as someone who is against this oppression struggling to meet others who feel the same. He meets a woman named Julia who also a rebel, so both decide to have a forbidden relationship out of rebellion towards the party. Promptly after Winston joins the brotherhood; he and Julia are caught and punished by O brien and the party. Orwell s central argument is to show the potential negative effects of what happens when government runs without checks to its power. Orwell conveys this argument through his deliberate arrangement, pessimistic tone, narrative distance and his use of satire. Orwell s arrangement throughout the book helps to show the reader how hopeless Winston s situation is. This hopelessness is used by Big brother to force citizens to feel content under the oppression of the party, eliminating any sentiments of rebellion within the people.
