Essay on The Global Economy and the Stages of Recovery
The global economy and the stages of recovery:
As is known, there has been a decline in global GPD growth rates during the last two years due
to the global financial crisis which began in August 2007; it is considered one of the most
serious crises experienced by the global economy since World War II. According to the latest
update to the World Economic Outlook by the International Monetary Fund (January 26, 2010),
global GDP growth fell from 5% p.a. in 2007 to 3.2% in 2008, dropping to .08% by 2009.
According to the report, the world economy has begun to expand again, and there have been
improvements in financial conditions. It is a significant improvement, but it will still take time to
return to where it was in the past. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As can be seen in the capital markets indexes, the indicators fell sharply throughout the world
without exception. This decline led to a loss of confidence among investors.
Currently, the capital markets passed their nadir in the beginning of 2009 and the market has started
recovering from all time lows. In addition, investor confidence has improved, while economies
remain weak, although growth is expected. The majority have in fact returned to growth, albeit
only showing a slight rise.
Experts are split into two camps: the optimistic and the pessimistic, with some experts expecting a
return of the recession while others anticipate recovery.(Revisiting the global crisis,2009)

The Common Pattern Of Alternating Extinctions And Radiations
Extinctions and Radiations

The common pattern of alternating extinctions and radiations has been done through biodiversity
studies which studies the different organisms of species living on earth and where they live. In
Stilwell (2003) journal, Palaeocene faunas are characterized by a perceived rapid evolutionary
radiation involving many new taxa at both genus and species level. Stilwell stated Molluscs living
at the beginning of tertiary period after the K T extinction event was the beginning of modern fauna.
There was research that saw the decimation of scores of marine organisms. Mollusc groups were
mentioned (e.g. Ammonites, Belemnites Rudistid and Trigoniid Bivalves), (Stilwell, 2003).
In Stilwell s research journal, Austral Palaeocene Molluscs focuses on the composition of faunas
and patterns of evolution, it shows diversity and riches. The Southern Hemisphere show the break
up of Supercontinent Gondwana and also changes in oceanic circulation and climate. In the
northern Hemisphere shows major diversity changes in the Marine Realm.
In a journal written by Racki, it was mentioned, with the enlargement and nitrification most likely
will lead to the loss of deep water niches and step by step siliceous faunas go through severe non
selective losses during the end Permian mass extinction, (Racki, 1999). All because of sudden

Mckinsey 7s Framework
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McKinsey_7S_Framework The McKinsey 7S Framework is a
management model developed by well known business consultants Waterman and Peters (who also
developed the MBWA Management By Walking Around motif, and authored In Search of
Excellence ) in the 1980s. This was a strategic vision for groups, to include businesses, business
units, and teams. The 7S are structure, strategy, systems, skills, style, staff and shared values. The
model is most often used as a tool to assess and monitor changes in the internal situation of an
organisation. The model is based on the theory that, for an organization to perform well, these seven
elements need to be aligned and mutually reinforcing. So, the model can be used to... Show more

All of the authors worked as consultants at McKinsey and Company; in the 1980s, they used the
model to analyse over 70 large organisations. The McKinsey 7S Framework was created as a
recognisable and easily remembered model in business. The seven variables, which the authors
term levers , all begin with the letter S : Figure 1: McKinsey s 7S Model These seven variables
include structure, strategy, systems, skills, style, staff and shared values. Structure is defined as
the skeleton of the organisation or the organisational chart. The authors describe strategy as the
plan or course of action in allocating resources to achieve identified goals over time. The systems
are the routine processes and procedures followed within the organisation. Staff are described in
terms of personnel categories within the organisation (e.g. engineers), whereas the skills variable
refers to the capabilities of the staff within the organisation as a whole. The way in which key
managers behave in achieving organisational goals is considered to be the style variable; this
variable is thought to encompass the cultural style of the organisation. The shared values variable,
originally termed superordinate goals, refers to the significant meanings or guiding concepts that
organisational members share (Peters and Waterman, 1982). The shape of

A380 Essay
The Airbus A380 is a double deck, wide body, four engine jet airliner manufactured by the
European corporation Airbus, a subsidiary of EADS. It is the largest passenger airliner in the
world. Due to its size, many airports had to modify and improve facilities to accommodate it.
Designed to challenge Boeing s monopoly in the large aircraft market, the A380 made its maiden
flight on 27 April 2005 and entered commercial service in October 2007 with Singapore Airlines.
The aircraft was known as the Airbus A3XX during much of its development, before receiving the
A380 designation. The nickname Superjumbo has since become associated with it. The A380 s

Porsche s Five Forces Analysis
As a well known brand in the Global Automobile Industry, Porsche is a brand that many car
owners had been dreaming and working towards to own for many decades. To the eye of many,
this brand represents Legendary , Speed , Powerhouse , Premium and Reliable Quality .
I.BARRIERS ENCOUNTERING FOR NEW ENTRANT
For any new entrant considering about entering into this industry to compete and to take over what
Porsche had achieved, they would have to have strategically consider and plan before making
decision. To analyse the competitiveness of Porsche in the automobileindustry, Porter s 5 force
framework was used as illustrated in Figure 1 below.

Having the 50 overs years of experiences in racing, they have an unbeatable advantage in
developing top notch technologies where no new entrant can compete with.
Product Development
For a new entrant to develop a new product or design, they would have to first acquire the skills
and knowledge to produce a good automobile engine. This will be very difficult to achieve as the
learning curve to learn and eventually to produce even an existing engine design would be tough,
painfully long and costly. Moreover, the existing play in the market would already have a huge
advantage over the rest due to ready knowledge, skills and time.
In addition, the acceptance level of the consumers for any of the new products or design done by
the existing players would be much higher, in compared to a new entrant because over the years,
they would have very much established a strong branding and reliability over their products; which
would be very hard for any new entrant to achieve.
Market Development and Diversification

Becoming A Master s Degree For Social Work
I, Carlos Delgado, truly believe that my past and current work experience has served as
preparation to pursue my master s degree in social work. I am very aware that it takes plenty of
hard work and dedication to be successful in a graduate program, yet I believe that my
experiences along with my current work experience will assist me in gaining that success in a
master s program. Five weeks before graduating from California State University Los Angeles
(CSULA) with my bachelors in social work, I was offered a position as a housing caseworkerwith
an agency called Homeless Health Care Los Angeles (HHCLA). I felt anxious and excitement
because I was going to be dealing with the real thing now, and for the first time I was going to
have the title that I always wanted to have, the title of a social worker. Working at HHCLA has
allowed me to expand and improve my case managing skills and has also given me the
opportunity to work on my clinical skills. Being a social worker at HHCLA and being an intern
with the psychiatric social worker and the school of mental health at Huntington Park High School
have taught me to be resourceful, because being resourceful helps me to better assist my clients
needs.
From 2008 to 2014 I was employed in an elementary school where I had to opportunity to work
with the school s social worker in assisting both general and special education students and their
families. Working with Ms. Tapia, who is the Pupil Services and Attendance (PSA)

Texas House of Representative consists of many committees which are working for the
development of society and the people. Some of the committees which I would consider, if elected
are Opioids Substance Abuse Select Committee, Business Industry Committee and Economic Small
Business Development Committee.
The first committee I would like to serve upon winning is Opioids Substance Abuse, Select
Committee. This house committee is concerned with rehabilitation services; how to reduce opioid
use in Texas; how to fund substance abuse regulation programs and agencies; community education

It is mainly procedural as well as substantive. It is justified because I have vast knowledge in
business and industry field. This will give me a cutting edge advantage in presenting substantive
agendas to the committee. I would also focus to confirm that the entire business and industry sector
achieves the set goals and decisions. The implementation of government regulations also serves best
for various industries, and people should respect the fact that business operations need to follow the
rules and regulations that will make them successful.
1 Lastly, I would like to serve Economic Small Business Development Committee. This house
committee concerns itself with development and support of the small scale businesses;
unemployment compensation and wages and collective bargaining (Texas House of
Representatives). This committee deals with both substantive and procedural laws. As a member of
the Economic Small Business Development Committee, I will focus on presenting pertinent
concerns of the small scale traders, who face a lot of challenges in growing their businesses. This
will benefit my district, bearing in mind that it has the highest number of Small and Medium Size
Enterprises in the State. I have a deep passion for entrepreneurship, which makes me the ideal
member of this committee as I have knowledge on the challenges facing small scale entrepreneurs.
Apart from being a member in these committees, I look forward to be a youth ambassador for

Cartierville Urban Analysis

Tay Sachs Disease Essay
Tay Sachs is an incurable genetic disease that affects the central nervous system. It is a rare
disorder that occurs chiefly in infants and children, especially those of the Jewish heritage. It is
characterized by a red spot in the retina, paralysis, gradual blindness, and loss of muscle movement.
Tay Sachs can only be inherited, which means it is passed from parents to child only. The
process begins in the fetus, very early in pregnancy. However, the disease does not become
physically apparent until the child is several months old. Tay Sachs is caused by the absence of a
vital enzyme, called the Hex A gene, which is in chromosome 15. This gene plays an important role
in the nervous system. It breaks down the fatty substance called ... Show more content on

Parents who suspect they might be at risk are strongly encouraged to be tested before pregnancy.
Pregnant mothers can have their unborn babies tested for Hex A deficit that causes Tay Sachs. If
these tests do not detect the Hex A gene, the baby has the Tay Sachs mutation. If the tests do
detect the Hex A gene, then the baby is perfectly healthy. Between the 10th and 12th weeks of
pregnancy, an expectant mother can get a chorionic villus sampling or CVS. In this procedure, a
small sample of the placenta is drawn into a needle or small tube for analysis. Between 15 18
weeks of a pregnancy, an expecting mother could have an amniocentesis to test for the Hex A
mutation. This test involves a needle that is inserted into the mother s belly to draw a sample of
amniotic fluid that surrounds the fetus. Children are usually tested for Tay Sachs after having
hearing, sight, and movement problems. The disease can be identified by a doctor through blood
tests and screening.
Children affected by Tay Sachs disease are born seemingly normal and develop like any other
child in the first three to six months of life. Throughout the next month, and sometimes even
years, the baby will progressively lose the ability to see, hear, and move. The child will develop a
cherry colored red spot in the back of the eye and they lose or never even gain important motor and
mental skills. The child will stop smiling, crawling, sitting, turning over, and reaching for things. By

Submitted on: November 26, 2014 Discuss the structural factors which contributed to the onset of
the Arab Spring in 2011. Based on what you learned about the origins of revolutions in this class,
was this wave of contention inevitable?
The term Arab Spring has emerged in academic literature as well as in the general media from
about early 2011. It refers to the awakening of some Arab nations and the movements to replace
authoritarian regimes with democratic ones. The theme of spring and awakening seems to have
been borrowed from the 1989 reform movements in the former Eastern block nations, such as in
the former German Democratic Republic or Hungary. However, this comparison has been
criticised by some analysts since both the circumstances which have led to these movements as
well as the outcome of these reform efforts seem to differ quite a lot. Yet, the Arab Spring term
seems to be still widely used and even found an extension in the creation of the term Arab Winter
which refers to events that happened in 2012 in some Arab countries during which these reform
movements seemed to have cooled off and particular nations, such as Egypt, attempted to go back
to the status quo of the pre 2011 era.
The term Arab Spring has been

Alice In Wonderland Power
This essay will consider Lewis Carroll s presentation of Alice in Alice s Adventures in
Wonderland, specifically within the Pig and Pepper chapter. Alice wishes to master the unfamiliar
world of Wonderland, in much the same way as Victorian Britain gained global power through
colonization. In this essay, I will argue that Carroll uses Alice s role as Victorian representative to
criticise this dominant global position Britain held during its imperial century . Alice initially
perceives Wonderland as a world that she can overpower and benefit from, much as imperialist
Britain benefited from its territories resources. She does not succeed, however, and by the end of
both the chapter and overall narrative, finds that compliant interactions... Show more content on

The importance of learning from other cultures, rather than maintaining imperialistic superiority
by holding Victorian England above the rest, is communicated. This is indicated through Alice s
transition to a more adaptable state, which is again represented through her interactions with the
infant. When caring for the baby, Alice tells it not to grunt, as that s not at all a proper way of
expressing yourself. In dictating to the baby the proper etiquette regarding expression, Alice is
initially projecting her own Victorian society onto it. She views her society as superior, and so
requires that the infant act in the same way as one from her own world. However, the
description of Alice holding the baby makes it clear that she is beginning to understand that there
is no fixed, constantly correct way of doing things. Carroll states that she made out the proper
way of nursing it (which was to twist it up into a sort of knot, and then keep tight hold of its right
ear and left foot, so as to prevent its undoing itself) The repetition of the word proper is telling
here: the proper way of treating this Wonderland child is in fact very different from what the proper
way would be in Alice s world. Consequently, Alice learns she cannot simply project her own
culture onto Wonderland, and must instead operate with more open mindedness regarding differing

The Theory Of Scientific Management Essay
According to Miller (2010) Scientific management (Taylorism) was devised by Frederick Taylor to
improve economic efficiency especially labor productivity by analyzing and establishing
workflows. It was one of the earliest attempts to apply science to the engineering of processes and to
management. Taylor s scientific managementwas based on four principles. The first is replacing
the rule of thumb work methods with methods based on a scientific study. The second is selecting,
training and developing the most suitable person for the job. The third principle is managers
should give out detailed instructions on how to do the job scientifically and supervise workers. The
last principle is dividing the tasks between managers and workers. This paper will discuss if these
scientific management principles are outdated in the study of organizations. I will present the
principles and explain their relevance in current organizations.
The rule of thumb is a procedure that developed from experience and common sense. It totally
ignores scientific knowledge. Taylor argued that for an organization to become more efficient
managers had to develop a science of work that is cultivating methods based on a scientific study of
those tasks. Morgan (2006) asserts that this was done to determine the most efficient way of doing
work. The scientific method would therefore simplify worker s tasks in detail and specify the
amount of work needed to do the task and the necessary time to finish that

A Nail The Kingdom
For want of a nail the kingdom was lost пїЅC that s how the catechism goes when you boil it down.
In the end, you can boil everything down to something similar пїЅC or so Roberta Anderson
thought much later on. It s either all an accident ... or all fate. Anderson literally stumbled over her
destiny in the small town of Haven, Maine, on June 21st, 1988. That stumble was the root of the
matter; all the rest was nothing but history.
2
Anderson was out that afternoon with Peter, an aging beagle who was now blind in one eye. Peter
had been given to her by Jim Gardener in 1976. Anderson had left college the year before with
her degree only two months away to move onto her uncle s place in Haven. She hadn t realized
how lonely she d been until Gard brought the dog. He d been a pup then, and Anderson sometimes
found it difficult to believe he was now old пїЅC eighty four in dog s years. It was a way of
measuring her own age. 1976 had receded. Yes indeed. When you were twenty five, you could
still indulge in the luxury of believing that, in your case, at least, growing up was a clerical error
which would eventually be rectified. When you woke up one day and discovered your dog was
eighty four and you yourself were thirty seven, that was a view that had to be re examined. Yes
indeed.
Anderson was looking for a place to cut some wood. She d a cord and a half laid by, but wanted at
least another three to take her through the winter. She had cut a lot since those early days when

Role Of Women In The Great Gatsby
A social group is a group of people, who share common characteristics and can be grouped together
by a common theme. Marginalization is the treatment of a person, group or concept as insignificant.
Social groups, such as women, are often marginalized from the rest of society due to unequal views
on women. Gendermarginalization stems from the concept that men and women are not created
equal leading to disparate conduct and views of a gender. In F. Scott Fitzgerald s The Great
Gatsby, gender roles are clearly recognized and the femalebeing is presented as the less powerful,
unimportant sex. Through the examination of their own marginalization, the loss of identity of the

Furthermore, women in The Great Gatsby are marginalized by the social patterns of the Jazz Age
resulting in a deprivation of their own identity. Despite their recent liberation, women are replicas
of each other; nothing more than impersonal, faceless objects. In August, 1920, the 19th
Amendment, granting women the right to vote, gave way to the emancipated women. Women or
flappers, as they are referred to, with their short hair and shiny dresses are identical in
appearance, with little or no individuality. While reflecting on the attendees at Gatsby s parties,
Nick infers, Benny McClenahan arrived always with four girls. They were never quite the same
ones in physical person, but they were so identical one with another that it inevitably seemed they
had been there before (Fitzgerald 62). As Nick observes, due to their similarity it makes it difficult
to determine if it is a woman s first time at one of Gatsby s parties. This exemplifies women s
conformity to an unwritten social code and their morphism into undistinguishable beings, simply an
object of men s desires. Additionally, Nick s nightmare after Gatsby s death illustrates another
example of women s marginalization as a result of their adherence to the social standards of the
times. He dreams about a drunken woman in a white evening dress being carried home by four
men. Gravely the men turn in at a house the wrong house. But no one

Mob Mentality In The Crucible By Arthur Miller
The word Mob (in terms of sociology) is defined as a group of persons stimulating one another to

simply describes a group of people who were either directly or indirectly influenced by each
other to do something. Similarly, Mob Mentality can be defined as the mentality of people,
when they are indirectly motivated by another individual to do something. This slightly chaotic
type of mentality, can be both good and bad in different circumstances. Mob Mentality can be a
positive occurrence if used in an uplifting sense such as giving a standing applause to someone,
but also hindering and distracting if the action occuring is negative like a group of people lying
in order to get someone in trouble. In the drama, The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, a group of
bewitched girls clearly demonstrate negative mob mentality throughout the play. Towards the end
of the play, one of the girls, Abigail, and the other girls are in the courtroom with the characters
Mary Warren, John Proctor, Judge Danforth, and a couple of others. While trying to get Judge
Danforth to believe the Mary is guilty of witchcraft, Abigail fakes an encounter with Mary Warren

The Pros And Cons Of Google Pixel
For years, Google has been contented with only having an indirect hand at the fiercely competitive
smartphone market.
But just last week, the California based brand shook the entire mobile industry when it announced
that it was ending its long running Nexus line and introducing a new, premium handset on the
market: the Google Pixel. So far, we like what we re seeing.
With Google s flagship phone offering so much promise on paper, we re sure you re wondering
(as much as we do) how it would fare against other popular high end smartphones. To satisfy
everybody s curiosity, we re pitting Google Pixel XL against Apple iPhone7 Plus and the Samsung
Galaxy Note 7 (the non combustible kind, of course).
Round 1: First Impression

However, one thing it does right is providing users with unlimited cloud storage for their full
resolution photos and videos.
Another thing that makes Pixel XL stand out is that it has the sharpest display of the three
devices. Although Note 7 evens this out by having the largest display and a dual edge design,
making it look more enticing than its immediate competitors. For iPhone 7 Plus, it keeps itself
relevant in this area by incorporating pressure sensitive technology in its design (3D Touch) so its
display may be more functional than both Note 7 and Pixel XL.
Verdict: Again, it s another three way tie here.
If you re someone who gives a lot of weight to specs, you ll definitely be at a loss if made to choose
between Google Pixel XL, iPhone 7 Plus, and Samsung Galaxy Note 7. The reason why is that all
three devices are pretty much on par in terms of performance.
Ultimately, we re guessing that selecting among the three will come down to design and software
experience. Nevertheless, we re sure you ll have little regrets picking whichever of the three as
they re all powerful, well designed flagship models that can equally amaze and

Voter Turnout Research Paper
Elections are an important part of creating a legitimate state. They allow us to have a say in how
decisions are made in a government. However, the voter turnout for an election does not have an
effect on the type of regime that will develop in a state. It does not matter if the election is in an
authoritarian government or a democratic one, the regime does not have a large impact on the
turnout of voters. What matters in voter turnoutis whether the citizens believe in the regime. If they
feel that the state is legitimate then they are more likely to vote. Also, if the voters believe that
their vote counts and is not a wasted vote then you are more likely to have a larger voter turnout.

What Is The Real Igbo Religion In Things Fall Apart
Chinua Achebe chose to include a native Igbo religion in for Umuofia Village culture in his
novel Things Fall Apart. He calls this Igbo religion Agbala Oracle (the Oracle of the Hills and
Caves) which he bases on a historic Nigerian religion. That historic religion was known as Awka
Oracle that was destroyed by the British. The events surrounding the destruction of the real Awka
Oracle and the fictional Agbala Oracle are strikingly similar. The real Awka Oracle was
destroyed and entire villages were wiped out in retaliation for the killing of one British subject.
Thomas Liu recounts the events as follows: On November 16th, 1905, a British man, known as
J.F. Stewart, riding his bicycle arrived in Ahiara was killed by the native warriors.

Building A Wireless Infrastructure Backbone System
Introduction
Currently much importance is given to optimizing business without affecting the production and
process. When a new distribution centre s build or an existing one is being upgraded with a
warehouse management system, a wireless network structure should be provided which need to be
regarded as the integral part of the process. This is an important part because connection issues may
arise due to lack in connectivity without wireless connection. Eventually this will impact the data
collection capabilities from other floors, mostly form the ground to top floor (Lu, W., Giannikas,
V., McFarlane, D., Hyde, J. (2014). A wireless networkinfrastructure building starts with a design
and then with a map which will describe the mapping of the wireless access points. It also needs to
create a plan for installing the cable which will run throughout the distribution centre. The reason
behind this planning is to build a wireless infrastructure backbone that will be implemented and
which can have the capability to support the whole planning in the distribution centre. To get proper
wireless signals throughout the premises a well planning of the wireless system is essential along
with successful implementation.
Planning and Implementation
Although it sound very easy to implement the whole process but the reality is that it involves lot of
elements and components which need to be taken care of while project implementation. Plenty of

Presidents Of The President Is A Position Of Power Essay
Being in a position of power where the public demands so much can cause multiple issues, in the
case of the US presidency illogicalities can arises. As such, the central thesis for this paper is,
presidents face contradictory expected from the public to be both decisive leaders as well as open
minded politicians in addition; too being statesman s and loyalist to their parties. What arise for the
presidentis a host of challenges found in congress, his party, the executive branch as well as the
abilities to make decisive choices of when to choose one side the publics perceptions over the other.
Presidents are expected to be leaders in the public eye, but the structure of the system means
they have to give up their power and allow others to lead with their own discretion. In order to do
this Presidents are expected to be flexible politicians willing to compromise and allow others use
political power. Inside the presidency discretion by lower subordinates is key because it is
illogical and not practical for presidents to micromanage the entire executive branch. In relation
to the political power a president has, [t]he president must marshal resources to persuade others to
do as he wishes (Edwards III Wayne, 2014, p. 15). A president must use his political power
granted to him both formally by the constitution and informally by laws, precedent and public
opinion as well as other resources so as to implement his agenda and lead the country in ways he
sees fit.

between readers and author which similarly allows them to experience the refugee lifestyle and
connect on a personal level. The two novels share a similar technique of using first person narrative
with texts that offer a rich and thorough glimpse into the narrator s involvements through inner

Bipolar Disorder ( Bipolar ) Essay
Bipolar Disorder or manic depressive disorder is a disorder characterized by highs, manias, and
lows, depressions, and can therefore be easily distinguished from unipolar depression, a major
depressive disorder in DSM 5, by the presence of manic or hypomanic episodes (Miklowitz
Gitlin, 2014). Bipolar disorder is generally an episodic, lifelong illness with a variable course
(American Psychiatric Association, 2010). There are two classifications of bipolar disorder;
bipolar I disorder and bipolar II disorder. If the episodes are primarily manic but there has been at
least one depressive episode, the diagnosis is bipolar I disorder (Early, 2009). If the episodes are
primarily depressed but there has been at least one episode of hypomania, increased mood that is
more euphoric than normal but not quite manic, the diagnosis is bipolar II disorder (Early, 2009).
A manic episode is characterized by an abnormality of mood that is euphoric, expansive, and
elevated or irritable with increased energy, along with signs and symptoms such as inflated self
esteem or grandiosity, decreased need for sleep. Pressure of speech or being extremely talkative,
racing thoughts or flight of ideas, distractibility, an increase in goal directed behavior, agitation,
poor judgment and impulsive decision making are more signs and symptoms of a manic episode. A
manic episode can result in unwise and potentially dangerous behavior. Destructive behaviors can

environment by, for example, evolving the leaves into the spines; they adjust the photosynthesis by
separating it into two steps. All these changes that the desert plants have made allow them to

The exhibition curators attempted to create an exhibition that went further than display of
historical artifacts to tell a story of the past to make it relatable to visitors today as considering
objects, images, and first person accounts of a variety of people across time can cultivate our
narrative imaginations and help us better understand our diverse nation (Salazar Porzio and

that as a nation we might go beyond simple acknowledgement of our past, present, and future
diversity to focus on building an equitable and inclusive society (Salazar Porzio and Troyano 16).
The exhibition begins by displaying objects from some of the first groups to immigrate to the
United States and continues with broad themes of more contemporary issues regarding immigration

Feminism In Othello Essay
Many males think it was okay to mistreat their wives, sisters, daughters, and even mothers. And
during the 16th century this was seen as a way of life, something normal and acceptable to do.
Not many people at this time would stand up for the rights of female, as it was seen as rude and
just not right to stand up for a woman s life. During this time, books and plays were a great source
for us to understand the mindset of many people, and if they supported or pushed an equal society.
When reading Othello, By William Shakespeare, In the play the reader can see that he was not a
sexist: the main three females in the play were seen as important and contributed tremendously
towards the plot of the play. The readers see Shakespeare pushing the ideology of men and
women being equal with the slow occurrence of many plots towards the play, and how it all
unravels itself. These were proven in the play by when; women s voices and opinions being
suppressed, men being able to hold females as property, the double standard of males and females.
With these three the reader is able to see shakespeare bringing to light many issues that females
dealt in the 16th century. He tries to wake the people of the 16th century, with messages in his
plays for people to learn and understand the other side of the story. While the readers understand
the play, they feel suspense building, for Othello to ask his wife if what Iagospeaks is true. Othello

Religious Connotation In Life Cycle By Bruce Dawe
With consumerism overtaking society, religious expression is also one of the key aspects that
Dawe comments on in Australian society. Bruce Dawe demonstrates this through figurative
language and the use of religious connotations through his poem, Life Cycle . Dawe shows his
readers that sport in Australian has an impact on society; he simply suggests this through the use of

The Stock Exchange Is The First Modern Day Trading Exchange
The Amsterdam Stock Exchange is the first modern day trading exchange that allowed for the
buying and selling of securities of the East India Company. The exchange was influenced by prior
inventions such as brokering of debt and bond purchasing. In the 1300s, Venice merchants bought
debt from citizens, companies, and the government and traded pools of these debt issues to
consumers. The merchants would bring a booklet of debts for sale and the consumer would then
buy what they wanted. The consumers would either capitalize on high interest payments or lose
their money due to a particular entity not being able to pay their debts. In the 1500s, Belgium
opened the first bond exchange that was exclusively traded only bonds and note... Show more

Throughout the first century of the exchange being in existence, the company as well as the
commodities it traded had experience extreme volatility within the marketplace. Information and
speculation took responsibility for much of the unstable behavior resulting in a huge boom in the
1630s and the crises that took place in the 1670s and 1680s. The Amsterdam Stock Exchange
experienced a boom and bust cycle due to overconfident investors in the marketplace.
The First Boom (1633 1643)
When the market first opened for business, 1143 investors had received stock in the VOC
(Petram, 17). Very light trading occurred over the next thirty years within the secondary market.
However, due to the popularity of the trading arena the secondary market exploded, causing
hundreds of share transfers between different investors. Investors learned that they could make
more of a profit through selling shares regularly (market making) instead of holding on to them
for a few years. After the spike of the share price had occurred in 1633, many novice investors
were looking for a way to sell their shares. Experienced merchants would meet with these
investors and buy their stock for a little less than the asking price. From there, they would sell
those same shares as soon as the same day and charge above the market price. The

South Afric A Country Found At The Southern Tip Of Africa...
Background Information
South Africa is a country found at the southern tip of Africa that boasts of a relatively rich history.
Dutch traders arrived at the south most tip of present day South Africa in 1652 and built a stopover
point on the path that was used to transport spice between Holland and the Far East, consequently
instituting the town of Cape Town. After the British captured the Cape of Good Hope area in 1806,
many of the Dutch residents fled to the north to institute their own republics in areas taken from the
indigenous African populace (Beck, 2014). The exposition of gemstones and silver stimulated
prosperity and immigration and increased the subjugation of the local population. The Afrikaners
opposed English encroachments but were beaten in the Second South African War (1899 1902);
nonetheless, the English and the Afrikaners, continued to rule over South Africain 1910 under the
Union of South Africa. Following a whites only referendum, South Africa became a republic in
1961 (Thompson Berat, 2014).
In 1948, the National Party, which was widely Afrikaner dominated, was elected into power and
implemented a protocol of apartheid the individualized growth of the races which highly privileged
the white colored community at the cost of the Africans who ironically represented the majority.

Anita Desai s Clear Light Of Day
Escapism in Anita Desai s Clear Light of Day
Clear Light of Day, written by Anita Desai and published in 1980, tells the story of the siblings
of the Das family living in Old Delhi. It tells the story of Bim, the eldest sister a history professor
and caretaker of Baba, their youngest, autistic brother. She is a spinster who seems to have been
left behind by everyone. Headstrong, intelligent and apparently sure of her choices, it seems that
Bim has had no desire to escape her life.
The novel also tells the story of Tara and of Raja, the two apparently more prosperous siblings, who
both manage to escape the bleak atmosphere of the house; Tara through her marriage to Bakul, and
Raja through his immersion in Urdu poetry and Islamic culture, his relationship with Hyder Ali, and
consequently, his moving away to Hyderabad and marriage to Benazir.
Escapism plays a very important role in the story of Anita Desai s Clear Light of Day. The focus
of this essay is to explore how this theme affects the relationship between Bim and Raja. Best
friends and partners in crime, Bim and Raja share a love of literature and poetry, and are the
closest of the four siblings. Eventually, however, Raja s admiration of Hyder Ali leads him to
Urdu poetry and an interest in Islamic culture, seeking an escape from the stifling, insipid
atmosphere of his own home and life. What seems to have started as scholarly interest, and
initially even draws Bim s admiration, leads to Raja s escape to Hyderabad to

part of the empire. This scattering of lost history made the formation of a new West Empire.
Christianity and Roman Catholicism played a dominant role in the shaping of the Western. There
are three major parts that influenced and helped the development of the Western Civilization which
is Mesopotamia, Ancient Greece, and Ancient Rome. Mesopotamia heavily influenced the
development of western civilization, by their organized shaped communities. Many historians
traced the roots western civilization back to the land area between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers.
Having land between rivers allowed a surplus of food from farming, engineering advances, such as
the construction of canals, dams, drains, and the Sumerians and Babylonians could build large
cities. This land was known to be Mesopotamia. Mesopotamia was the West first enormous societal
structure and system. The western based the first cultures which were originated from the
Mesopotamia region, which shows how Mesopotamian cultures provided a great influence on the
West. It became to be recognized as the cradle of civilization . The development of the wheel, the

Personal Philosophy Of Christian Education Essay
One of the biggest obstacles as Christian educators is to integrate biblical principles into our
teaching philosophy without being accused of indoctrinating students. Therefore, it is important
for me to embrace a personal philosophy of education grounded in my Christian worldview
which is that everything I do in both my personal and professional life will be inspired by God
which will be demonstrated by my dedication to student learning and advancement of my own
knowledge. The purpose of this paper is to discuss this philosophy in support of my most valued
goals as an educator. First, I will be in the service of students, their individuality, and support them
in their success. Second, I will keep current on the latest news, discoveries, and research in my
content area(s). Third, I will encourage my students to be good stewards of the planet. I feel that
by using these goals as my guide, I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Ephesians, 4:11 14 (The New King James Version), we are bestowed spiritual gifts
equipping...for the work of ministry...that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and
carried about with every wind of doctrine. Therefore, as a biology teacher, it is my duty to share
with my students the latest and greatest developments regarding the study of life and demonstrate
those developments whenever possible in the classroom. Further, I can help students separate fact
from fiction, and talk about matters that are related to their own health and well being. I will also
seek professional development opportunities not only because it will be required, but because
Webb Metha (2017) states that high quality professional development is the primary means by
which both new and experienced teachers can develop the knowledge and pedagogical skills
necessary for improved teaching effectiveness (p.

Essay About Khio
That day started something between them. Hoshi teased about having a boyfriend but Jihoon
referred to Mingyu as a human cat that wouldn t go away . Mingyu still sent him messages via
printer but he also started coming over for a little while most days. They d chat and bicker. They
d talk about high school and hobbies and best friends. Mingyu would pick at Jihoon s music taste.
Jihoon would wonder aloud about Mingyu s lack of drawing skills.
You re a good photographer but you re shit at pen on paper drawing.
One. It doesn t stop you from keeping my drawings, Mingyu leans his head against the back of the
couch and grins, Two. You just complimented my photography.

Not until he turns around and sees his brother with a confused look on his face and a piece of
paper in his hands.
Uh, Jihoon?
Yoongi, Jihoon sighs. Please just ignore that.
Who is this? I didn t know you were involved with anyone.
I m not, he snaps and snatches the paper from his brother s fingers, tossing it towards the coffee
table without looking at it. He s like a pet cat.
Yoongi laughs and Jihoon freezes. He knows that laugh. That laugh always came just before Yoongi
convinced Jihoon to do something incredibly stupid and rash. That laugh that had their mother
scolding them for hours. Oh. A cat, huh? Jihoon rubs the bridge of his nose: he can already feel
the headache forming. Does he have all his shots? Yoongi eyes him closely, eyes dropping to
Jihoon s neck for a moment, before wandering to the fridge and calling back over his shoulder.
Does he bite? Did you buy him a proper collar?
Oh. My. God. I hate you. Before he can do anything rash, like become an only child and call
Hoshi for help with burying the body, the printer comes to life again. Yoongi wraps an arm around
Jihoon s waist and yanks him back before he can reach the paper, laughing when Jihoon huffs and
tries to trip him.
It s another selfie of Mingyu. This time , he s sitting on Jihoon s counter with an incredibly smug
look. The cat that ate the canary and all that, Jihoon s mind supplies. He

Essay about Humanism, Cognitivism and Behaviourism
In this assignment I shall be exploring three theories of teaching and learning. They are Humanism,
Cognitivism and Behaviourism. I shall be explaining the main factors of the three theories and then
explaining how they can support effective teaching and learning in general and for myself
personally in my teaching role. The first theory I shall explore is Humanism.
Humanism stresses [a learner s] interests, individuality and creativity in short the [learner s]
freedom to develop naturally and from teacher domination (Lunenburg p.467).
When teaching a lesson a teacher is more of a facilitator when planning and delivering a lesson. An
effective humanistic approach is not one of teacher control (behaviourism) nor does it ... Show more

This is an active type of learning and more intrinsically motivating but there are risks involved in
delivering a lesson or task in this way. A tutor can confuse the class with inaccurate explanations
and a lack of knowledge on the tutor s part. The second sequence of learning is less intrinsically
motivating but can be better controlled by the tutor.
This second sequence of learning is known as deductive learning. This is preferred by the theorist
Ausabel.
Meaningful learning, according to Ausabel, entails acquiring new knowledge that links existing
knowledge and which can be easily retained and applied. (Gould p. 48)
Ausabel, in contrast to Bruner, believes that students need a structured set of instructions and
when that builds on existing learning it can contribute greatly to student understanding. Ausabel
also encourages the use of an advanced organiser . This can be applied at the beginning of the
lesson so the learner knows what to expect and the logical order in which they will receive
information. As mentioned before this a less risky way of learning but some may see it as
mollycoddling . I personally believe a mix of the two contributes to an effective lesson. To have an
advanced organiser at the beginning of the lesson, then being given the tasks in the logical order but
with the learner discovering the answers for themselves with the tutors help can

Iago s Immorality
Shakespeare s Iago is one of Shakespeare s most complex villains. At first glance Iago s character
seems to be pure evil. However, such a villain would distract from the impact of the play and
would be trite. Shakespeare to add depth to his villain makes him amoral, as opposed to the typical
immoral villain. Iagos entire scheme begins when the ignorant, ill suited Cassio is given the
position he desired. Iago is consumed with envy and plots to steal the position he feels he most
justly deserves. Iago deceives, steals, and kills to gain that position. However, it is not that Iago
pushes aside his conscience to commit these acts, but that he lacks a conscience to begin with. Iago
s amorality can be seen throughout the play and is demonstrated... Show more content on

There is a lot of irony that kills Iago, and what seems to be good for him is worse for other
people. He manages to betray almost every person that comes across him, and he will always be
happy when he sees others working unwittingly to fulfill his purposes. Iago is a concept more
than a character, and the play provides us with a series of images he calls it a panopticon that
successively produce an understanding of this concept. The concept of Iago reveals that evil is a
pathological derivative of ordinary human practices, that it depends on the good and is secondary
to it. In its pure form evil can hardly be understood as a human practice (Escobedo, 2010). The
greatest vulnerabilities that Iago sees in other people is that he will use them, and then he will
ultimately destroy them, because of his love for being

The Association Between Quebeckers And How Much The...
This paper will explore the association between Quebeckers and how much the average
Quebecker really likes Canada on a scale from really dislike (0) to really like (100). This
association is relevant because the history of division between Quebec and the rest of Canada has
resulted in many referendums and resentment that thrives today as much as it did in the past. The
results may not be shocking, but the empirical data analysis shows that the average Quebecker
does not really like Canada when the threshold for really like is set at 80 or more out of 100. The
rest of this paper will thoroughly look at the steps that it took to reach this conclusion including a
descriptive summary of the methodological considerations, a detailed... Show more content on

The former variables is ranked from 0 100 where 0 is really dislike and 100 is really like, while
the latter is simply a nominal variable used for filtering cases. This means that the province
variable was used to narrow the data into Quebec only results to allow the comparison between
the two. They were specifically chosen because they best fit the direction of the research where
I wanted to explore the relationship between overall feelings towards Canada in a particular
province: Quebec. Neither variable was recoded because it showed to be unnecessary, in the case
of provinces, and illogical for the PES11_11, a scale variable (highest level of measurement).
Since this is a scale variable, I was able to calculate all the measures of central tendency (measures
that tell us the most typical values) and dispersion (how typical these typical central values are).
These statistics are relevant to calculate because they allow for more meaningful calculations that
allow us to draw more specific and accurate conclusions about claims such as the standard error,
confidence intervals, z scores and statistical significance.
The bar chart in Figure 1 shows the frequency that each Quebecker chose their feelings about
Canada. It shows that a majority of respondents falls at 50 or above with the most frequent value
is 100. Table 1 shows a collection of all statistics calculated to test the

Negative Effects Of Persepolis
Revolution is defined as the forcible overthrow of a government or social order in favor of a new
system. Although revolutions often overthrow oppressive regimes, countries may suffer from war
or violent internal conflict in the process. The negative effects of these conflicts are generally
viewed as worth the overall benefit. But, one consequence no one ever thinks about is the toll war
takes on the country s residents, especially the country s youth. What kind of effectdoes war have
for young impressionable children? Marjane Satrapiwas a young girl who lived during the Iranian
revolution. In her book, she documents her thoughts, feelings, and experiences while she lived in
Iran. Her story exemplifies the effects of the revolution on Marjane s personality and childhood
development. In Marjane Satrapi s graphic novel Persepolis, the author explores Marjane s
development from being a child, who had innocence, to an adult, who knows the truth about the
world, in order to convey the significance of the Iranian revolution on the development of Iran s
youth and how it negatively affects the people they become.
Although she is a child, Marjane comes to a realization about government corruption which sets the
tone for her attitude about authority for the rest of her life. In chapter three, Marjane comes to this
realization after she tries to get involved in a conversation with her parents about the revolution.
Her innocence about the concept of government corruption is

Personal Statement And Why I Want To Be A Phharmacist
My desire to help people is a major factor in my decision to become a pharmacist. I have aspired
to be a pharmacist since I was in the eighth grade. I have taken several different steps to assist me
in attaining my dream. The classes I have completed to aid me with my goal have been very
stimulating. I attended a pharmacycamp that truly enlightened me and made me understand how
much work it will require to become a pharmacist. I have done other activities as well to improve
my goal of becoming a pharmacist. I have visited specific colleges that have pharmacy programs
and I have completed research on the job market for a pharmacist and the salary I would receive.

I have been on a number of college visits to pharmacy schools. I have been to the University of
Findlay, the University of Toledo, Ohio Northern University, and the University of Cincinnati. I
want to be positive that I will love where I spend the next six years of my life pursuing my
dream. I have done an adequate amount of research on my own also to know what pharmacists
have to do and if I would like being a pharmacist. Very soon I will be contacting a pharmacist to
set up a time to job shadow them. Doing this I will have an idea of what I could be doing every
day after I graduate college. These things are considerable factors in determining where I would
go to college to become a pharmacist and if I would like this job. I delight in helping people and
that is what pharmacists do as well as additional significant tasks. They are also very organized
people, as am I. That is why I would treasure being a pharmacist and truly love the job. I have
worked exceptionally hard in my classes to maintain my exceptional grades and GPA. I have
completed additional activities such as going to pharmacy camp to learn what a pharmacist does.
I have also done ample research to know if I will like the job and what I have to do to achieve this
goal. Every bit of this contributes to me reaching my goal and I cannot wait until my journey

Poem Analysis Of Alzheimer s By Kelly Cherry
SUMMARY: In Kelly Cherry s poem titled Alzheimer s she describes a man in front of his house
who had just returned from the hospital. Cherry writes about the theme of losing a loved one
which is shown in the last sentence of the poem. Cherry lists the items in his suitcase and
describes the scenery around him. The man then recalls memories he has when he looks at the
house. He remembers building the walkway, planting the rhododendron, and driving his truck.
He does not, however, remember his wife who is standing in the doorway. EVALUATION: If I
could I would talk to the wife of the old man who has Alzheimer s. I would tell her that
everything is going to be okay and his disease is not an effect of anyone s actions. I would tell her

The Cause Of The Irish Potato Famine
In this 21st century we are heavily consumed by technology and food. We constantly see
advertisements of eating healthy and what these nutrients that these food provide for our
benefits. Eating fresh organic food nowadays is a crucial part of our daily living. From sowing
to harvesting and selling the produce a lot goes on backstage that not many people are aware
about. Rice, potatoes, milk and eggs are some of the staple foods that most people use. When a
staple food is destroyed is can effect many people economically and by health. An invasive
pathogen that was originated in Central Mexico that was very detrimental for potatoes was
Phytophythora infestans. The disease is also known as potatolate blight. Phytophythora infestans are

They then gradually spread and form ring of necrotizing tissue (Sedlakova et al 2011). At first
the plant will look healthy before the lesions are visible on the outside. This is also a challenge
for the farmers because they will not know if their produce is unhealthy until it is visible. By the
time they can cut of the plant the disease would have spread to the neighboring plants as well. P.
infestans are produced through sexual and asexual mating. The two mating types are known as
A1 and A2 ( Nowicki et al 2012). When mycelia of both types interact they produce oospores
sexually. Mycelia is the branched filament of fungi (Encyclopaedia Britannica 2017). Oospores
are spores that have a thick coating that allows them to survive harsh environmental conditions for
a long period (Nowicki et al 2012). When both these types mate they produce a worse isolate
compared to only if A1 mating occurs. The production of these more harmful isolates was detected
by researchers in United States which has made controlling this pathogen more difficult (Fall et al
2015). Sporangia of P. infectans also produce zoospores through asexual mating. Sexual and asexual
mating is influenced by the environment. Asexual is mating is encouraged when the weather is a
warmer and oospores are produced in cooler weather hence for the thick coating of oospores. Some
biosecurities that are implemented in controlling the pathogens are by spraying fungicides,
removing any infected potatoes from the

Playing My Best Game Of My Life
Goodish, Badish Basketball
The day I played my best. It was in the morning we had to get up to go to are basketball games.
Like all morning I was slow and then I played the best game of my life so far. It was a hard game
one of the hardest game ever, no it was the hardest game ever. I know what you re thinking, the
team played so well together that it was the best they ever played with each other. Even the shy
people scored it was great. The score was unbelievable 200 points to 0. But we actually lost 89 to
58. Yeah I knew, how did I play the best. If we didn t even win and are team wasn t playing
together like we always do. Maybe it was because they just wanted the ball or maybe they were
just scared. It was the last game before the finals. I always go in thinking that we are going to lose.
So I don t feel mad or disappointed if we lose. It also helps me play harder. But this time I was
sure we were gonna lose. They were two times the size of me. They were like trees towering over
me. Even their smallest girl was taller than our tallest girl. But they were in our division. We ve
never even seen them play before, but we knew they were good. They were all wearing orange
pixel shorts. We were joking that they were pooping out pixels. Then we headed in for warm up s
the crowd was cheering, but then the other team comes in and it went crazy. As we were doing leg

  • 2. Essay on The Global Economy and the Stages of Recovery The global economy and the stages of recovery: As is known, there has been a decline in global GPD growth rates during the last two years due to the global financial crisis which began in August 2007; it is considered one of the most serious crises experienced by the global economy since World War II. According to the latest update to the World Economic Outlook by the International Monetary Fund (January 26, 2010), global GDP growth fell from 5% p.a. in 2007 to 3.2% in 2008, dropping to .08% by 2009. According to the report, the world economy has begun to expand again, and there have been improvements in financial conditions. It is a significant improvement, but it will still take time to return to where it was in the past. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As can be seen in the capital markets indexes, the indicators fell sharply throughout the world without exception. This decline led to a loss of confidence among investors. Currently, the capital markets passed their nadir in the beginning of 2009 and the market has started recovering from all time lows. In addition, investor confidence has improved, while economies remain weak, although growth is expected. The majority have in fact returned to growth, albeit only showing a slight rise. Experts are split into two camps: the optimistic and the pessimistic, with some experts expecting a return of the recession while others anticipate recovery.(Revisiting the global crisis,2009) This table below shows the performance for some capital markets indices over the past three years according to CNBC: 20072008Change (%)2009Change (%) DOW JONES INDU AVERAGE NDX13,246.538,776.3933.75%10,428.0518.82% NASDAQ NMS COMPOSITE2,652.281,577.0540.54%2,269.1543.89% S P 500 1,435.65903.2537.08%1,115.1023.45% FTSE 1006,456.904,434.1731.33%5,412.8822.07% DAX8,067.324,810.2040.37%5,957.4323.85% CAC 405,614.083,217.9742.68%3,936.3322.32% HANG SENG INDEX27,812.6514,387.4848.27%21,872.5052.02% NIKKEI 225 15,307.788,859.5642.12%10,546.4419.04% SHANGHAI SE COMPOSITE INDEX5,261.561,820.8165.39%3,277.1479.98% Saudi Arabia The Saudi economy in 2010: A great number of reports expect an

  • 4. The Common Pattern Of Alternating Extinctions And Radiations Extinctions and Radiations W 1, A 3 Bio 1021 By Roxanne Fortune South University Submitted: November, 16th, 2016 The common pattern of alternating extinctions and radiations has been done through biodiversity studies which studies the different organisms of species living on earth and where they live. In Stilwell (2003) journal, Palaeocene faunas are characterized by a perceived rapid evolutionary radiation involving many new taxa at both genus and species level. Stilwell stated Molluscs living at the beginning of tertiary period after the K T extinction event was the beginning of modern fauna. There was research that saw the decimation of scores of marine organisms. Mollusc groups were mentioned (e.g. Ammonites, Belemnites Rudistid and Trigoniid Bivalves), (Stilwell, 2003). In Stilwell s research journal, Austral Palaeocene Molluscs focuses on the composition of faunas and patterns of evolution, it shows diversity and riches. The Southern Hemisphere show the break up of Supercontinent Gondwana and also changes in oceanic circulation and climate. In the northern Hemisphere shows major diversity changes in the Marine Realm. In a journal written by Racki, it was mentioned, with the enlargement and nitrification most likely will lead to the loss of deep water niches and step by step siliceous faunas go through severe non selective losses during the end Permian mass extinction, (Racki, 1999). Mckinsey 7s Framework http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McKinsey_7S_Framework The McKinsey 7S Framework is a management model developed by well known business consultants Waterman and Peters (who also developed the MBWA Management By Walking Around motif, and authored In Search of Excellence ) in the 1980s. This was a strategic vision for groups, to include businesses, business units, and teams. The 7S are structure, strategy, systems, skills, style, staff and shared values. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All of the authors worked as consultants at McKinsey and Company; in the 1980s, they used the model to analyse over 70 large organisations. The McKinsey 7S Framework was created as a recognisable and easily remembered model in business. The seven variables, which the authors term levers , all begin with the letter S : Figure 1: McKinsey s 7S Model These seven variables include structure, strategy, systems, skills, style, staff and shared values. Structure is defined as the skeleton of the organisation or the organisational chart. The authors describe strategy as the plan or course of action in allocating resources to achieve identified goals over time. The systems are the routine processes and procedures followed within the organisation. Staff are described in terms of personnel categories within the organisation (e.g. engineers), whereas the skills variable refers to the capabilities of the staff within the organisation as a whole. The way in which key managers behave in achieving organisational goals is considered to be the style variable; this variable is thought to encompass the cultural style of the organisation. The shared values variable, originally termed superordinate goals, refers to the significant meanings or guiding concepts that organisational members share (Peters and Waterman, 1982). It is the largest passenger airliner in the world. Due to its size, many airports had to modify and improve facilities to accommodate it. Designed to challenge Boeing s monopoly in the large aircraft market, the A380 made its maiden flight on 27 April 2005 and entered commercial service in October 2007 with Singapore Airlines. The aircraft was known as the Airbus A3XX during much of its development, before receiving the A380 designation. The nickname Superjumbo has since become associated with it. Having the 50 overs years of experiences in racing, they have an unbeatable advantage in developing top notch technologies where no new entrant can compete with. Product Development For a new entrant to develop a new product or design, they would have to first acquire the skills and knowledge to produce a good automobile engine. This will be very difficult to achieve as the learning curve to learn and eventually to produce even an existing engine design would be tough, painfully long and costly. Moreover, the existing play in the market would already have a huge advantage over the rest due to ready knowledge, skills and time. In addition, the acceptance level of the consumers for any of the new products or design done by the existing players would be much higher, in compared to a new entrant because over the years, they would have very much established a strong branding and reliability over their products; which would be very hard for any new entrant to achieve. I am very aware that it takes plenty of hard work and dedication to be successful in a graduate program, yet I believe that my experiences along with my current work experience will assist me in gaining that success in a master s program. Five weeks before graduating from California State University Los Angeles (CSULA) with my bachelors in social work, I was offered a position as a housing caseworkerwith an agency called Homeless Health Care Los Angeles (HHCLA). I felt anxious and excitement because I was going to be dealing with the real thing now, and for the first time I was going to have the title that I always wanted to have, the title of a social worker. Working at HHCLA has allowed me to expand and improve my case managing skills and has also given me the opportunity to work on my clinical skills. Being a social worker at HHCLA and being an intern with the psychiatric social worker and the school of mental health at Huntington Park High School have taught me to be resourceful, because being resourceful helps me to better assist my clients needs. From 2008 to 2014 I was employed in an elementary school where I had to opportunity to work with the school s social worker in assisting both general and special education students and their families. The implementation of government regulations also serves best for various industries, and people should respect the fact that business operations need to follow the rules and regulations that will make them successful. 1 Lastly, I would like to serve Economic Small Business Development Committee. This house committee concerns itself with development and support of the small scale businesses; unemployment compensation and wages and collective bargaining (Texas House of Representatives). This committee deals with both substantive and procedural laws. As a member of the Economic Small Business Development Committee, I will focus on presenting pertinent concerns of the small scale traders, who face a lot of challenges in growing their businesses. This will benefit my district, bearing in mind that it has the highest number of Small and Medium Size Enterprises in the State. • 13. Tay Sachs Disease Essay Tay Sachs is an incurable genetic disease that affects the central nervous system. It is a rare disorder that occurs chiefly in infants and children, especially those of the Jewish heritage. It is characterized by a red spot in the retina, paralysis, gradual blindness, and loss of muscle movement. Tay Sachs can only be inherited, which means it is passed from parents to child only. The process begins in the fetus, very early in pregnancy. However, the disease does not become physically apparent until the child is several months old. Tay Sachs is caused by the absence of a vital enzyme, called the Hex A gene, which is in chromosome 15. This gene plays an important role in the nervous system. It breaks down the fatty substance called ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Parents who suspect they might be at risk are strongly encouraged to be tested before pregnancy. Pregnant mothers can have their unborn babies tested for Hex A deficit that causes Tay Sachs. If these tests do not detect the Hex A gene, the baby has the Tay Sachs mutation. If the tests do detect the Hex A gene, then the baby is perfectly healthy. Between the 10th and 12th weeks of pregnancy, an expectant mother can get a chorionic villus sampling or CVS. In this procedure, a small sample of the placenta is drawn into a needle or small tube for analysis. Between 15 18 weeks of a pregnancy, an expecting mother could have an amniocentesis to test for the Hex A mutation. This test involves a needle that is inserted into the mother s belly to draw a sample of amniotic fluid that surrounds the fetus. Children are usually tested for Tay Sachs after having hearing, sight, and movement problems. The disease can be identified by a doctor through blood tests and screening. Children affected by Tay Sachs disease are born seemingly normal and develop like any other child in the first three to six months of life. Throughout the next month, and sometimes even years, the baby will progressively lose the ability to see, hear, and move. The child will develop a cherry colored red spot in the back of the eye and they lose or never even gain important motor and mental skills. Questions On The Arab Spring Fall term 2014 University of Windsor Department of Political Science 45 130 Seminar in Comparative Politics Instructor: Dr. Elena Maltseva The Arab Spring Written by Kevin Bernklau Student Nr.: 103957678 Email: bernkla@uwindsor.ca Submitted on: November 26, 2014 Discuss the structural factors which contributed to the onset of the Arab Spring in 2011. Based on what you learned about the origins of revolutions in this class, was this wave of contention inevitable? The term Arab Spring has emerged in academic literature as well as in the general media from about early 2011. It refers to the awakening of some Arab nations and the movements to replace authoritarian regimes with democratic ones. The theme of spring and awakening seems to have been borrowed from the 1989 reform movements in the former Eastern block nations, such as in the former German Democratic Republic or Hungary. However, this comparison has been criticised by some analysts since both the circumstances which have led to these movements as well as the outcome of these reform efforts seem to differ quite a lot. Yet, the Arab Spring term seems to be still widely used and even found an extension in the creation of the term Arab Winter which refers to events that happened in 2012 in some Arab countries during which these reform movements seemed to have cooled off and particular nations, such as Egypt, attempted to go back to the status quo of the pre 2011 era. Alice wishes to master the unfamiliar world of Wonderland, in much the same way as Victorian Britain gained global power through colonization. In this essay, I will argue that Carroll uses Alice s role as Victorian representative to criticise this dominant global position Britain held during its imperial century . Alice initially perceives Wonderland as a world that she can overpower and benefit from, much as imperialist Britain benefited from its territories resources. The importance of learning from other cultures, rather than maintaining imperialistic superiority by holding Victorian England above the rest, is communicated. This is indicated through Alice s transition to a more adaptable state, which is again represented through her interactions with the infant. When caring for the baby, Alice tells it not to grunt, as that s not at all a proper way of expressing yourself. In dictating to the baby the proper etiquette regarding expression, Alice is initially projecting her own Victorian society onto it. She views her society as superior, and so requires that the infant act in the same way as one from her own world. However, the description of Alice holding the baby makes it clear that she is beginning to understand that there is no fixed, constantly correct way of doing things. Carroll states that she made out the proper way of nursing it (which was to twist it up into a sort of knot, and then keep tight hold of its right ear and left foot, so as to prevent its undoing itself) The repetition of the word proper is telling here: the proper way of treating this Wonderland child is in fact very different from what the proper way would be in Alice s world. Consequently, Alice learns she cannot simply project her own culture onto Wonderland, and must instead operate with more open mindedness regarding differing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. The Theory Of Scientific Management Essay According to Miller (2010) Scientific management (Taylorism) was devised by Frederick Taylor to improve economic efficiency especially labor productivity by analyzing and establishing workflows. It was one of the earliest attempts to apply science to the engineering of processes and to management. Taylor s scientific managementwas based on four principles. The first is replacing the rule of thumb work methods with methods based on a scientific study. The second is selecting, training and developing the most suitable person for the job. The third principle is managers should give out detailed instructions on how to do the job scientifically and supervise workers. The last principle is dividing the tasks between managers and workers. This paper will discuss if these scientific management principles are outdated in the study of organizations. I will present the principles and explain their relevance in current organizations. The rule of thumb is a procedure that developed from experience and common sense. It totally ignores scientific knowledge. Taylor argued that for an organization to become more efficient managers had to develop a science of work that is cultivating methods based on a scientific study of those tasks. Morgan (2006) asserts that this was done to determine the most efficient way of doing work. The scientific method would therefore simplify worker s tasks in detail and specify the amount of work needed to do the task and the necessary time to finish that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the end, you can boil everything down to something similar пїЅC or so Roberta Anderson thought much later on. It s either all an accident ... or all fate. Anderson literally stumbled over her destiny in the small town of Haven, Maine, on June 21st, 1988. That stumble was the root of the matter; all the rest was nothing but history. 2 Anderson was out that afternoon with Peter, an aging beagle who was now blind in one eye. When you woke up one day and discovered your dog was eighty four and you yourself were thirty seven, that was a view that had to be re examined. Yes indeed. Marginalization is the treatment of a person, group or concept as insignificant. Social groups, such as women, are often marginalized from the rest of society due to unequal views on women. Gendermarginalization stems from the concept that men and women are not created equal leading to disparate conduct and views of a gender. In F. Furthermore, women in The Great Gatsby are marginalized by the social patterns of the Jazz Age resulting in a deprivation of their own identity. Despite their recent liberation, women are replicas of each other; nothing more than impersonal, faceless objects. In August, 1920, the 19th Amendment, granting women the right to vote, gave way to the emancipated women. Women or flappers, as they are referred to, with their short hair and shiny dresses are identical in appearance, with little or no individuality. While reflecting on the attendees at Gatsby s parties, Nick infers, Benny McClenahan arrived always with four girls. They were never quite the same ones in physical person, but they were so identical one with another that it inevitably seemed they had been there before (Fitzgerald 62). As Nick observes, due to their similarity it makes it difficult to determine if it is a woman s first time at one of Gatsby s parties. This exemplifies women s conformity to an unwritten social code and their morphism into undistinguishable beings, simply an object of men s desires. Additionally, Nick s nightmare after Gatsby s death illustrates another example of women s marginalization as a result of their adherence to the social standards of the times. He dreams about a drunken woman in a white evening dress being carried home by four men. Gravely the men turn in at a house the wrong house. But no one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. Mob Mentality In The Crucible By Arthur Miller The word Mob (in terms of sociology) is defined as a group of persons stimulating one another to excitement and losing ordinary rational control over their activity ( Mob ). This definition simply describes a group of people who were either directly or indirectly influenced by each other to do something. Similarly, Mob Mentality can be defined as the mentality of people, when they are indirectly motivated by another individual to do something. This slightly chaotic type of mentality, can be both good and bad in different circumstances. Mob Mentality can be a positive occurrence if used in an uplifting sense such as giving a standing applause to someone, but also hindering and distracting if the action occuring is negative like a group of people lying in order to get someone in trouble. In the drama, The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, a group of bewitched girls clearly demonstrate negative mob mentality throughout the play. Towards the end of the play, one of the girls, Abigail, and the other girls are in the courtroom with the characters Mary Warren, John Proctor, Judge Danforth, and a couple of others. While trying to get Judge Danforth to believe the Mary is guilty of witchcraft, Abigail fakes an encounter with Mary Warren s spirit ...pointing with fear, is now raising up her frightened eyes, her awed face, toward the ceiling the girls are doing the same and now Hathorne, Hale, Putnam, Cheever, Herrick, and Danforth do the same following along with Abigail (Miller ... Bipolar disorder is generally an episodic, lifelong illness with a variable course (American Psychiatric Association, 2010). There are two classifications of bipolar disorder; bipolar I disorder and bipolar II disorder. If the episodes are primarily manic but there has been at least one depressive episode, the diagnosis is bipolar I disorder (Early, 2009). If the episodes are primarily depressed but there has been at least one episode of hypomania, increased mood that is more euphoric than normal but not quite manic, the diagnosis is bipolar II disorder (Early, 2009). A manic episode is characterized by an abnormality of mood that is euphoric, expansive, and elevated or irritable with increased energy, along with signs and symptoms such as inflated self esteem or grandiosity, decreased need for sleep. • 40. Religious Connotation In Life Cycle By Bruce Dawe With consumerism overtaking society, religious expression is also one of the key aspects that Dawe comments on in Australian society. Bruce Dawe demonstrates this through figurative language and the use of religious connotations through his poem, Life Cycle . Dawe shows his readers that sport in Australian has an impact on society; he simply suggests this through the use of archaic language, beribboned cots, as it formalises and elevates the tone of the poem. • 41. The Stock Exchange Is The First Modern Day Trading Exchange The Amsterdam Stock Exchange is the first modern day trading exchange that allowed for the buying and selling of securities of the East India Company. The exchange was influenced by prior inventions such as brokering of debt and bond purchasing. In the 1300s, Venice merchants bought debt from citizens, companies, and the government and traded pools of these debt issues to consumers. The merchants would bring a booklet of debts for sale and the consumer would then buy what they wanted. The consumers would either capitalize on high interest payments or lose their money due to a particular entity not being able to pay their debts. In the 1500s, Belgium opened the first bond exchange that was exclusively traded only bonds and note... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout the first century of the exchange being in existence, the company as well as the commodities it traded had experience extreme volatility within the marketplace. Information and speculation took responsibility for much of the unstable behavior resulting in a huge boom in the 1630s and the crises that took place in the 1670s and 1680s. The Amsterdam Stock Exchange experienced a boom and bust cycle due to overconfident investors in the marketplace. The First Boom (1633 1643) When the market first opened for business, 1143 investors had received stock in the VOC (Petram, 17). Very light trading occurred over the next thirty years within the secondary market. However, due to the popularity of the trading arena the secondary market exploded, causing hundreds of share transfers between different investors. Investors learned that they could make more of a profit through selling shares regularly (market making) instead of holding on to them for a few years. After the spike of the share price had occurred in 1633, many novice investors were looking for a way to sell their shares. Experienced merchants would meet with these investors and buy their stock for a little less than the asking price. From there, they would sell those same shares as soon as the same day and charge above the market price. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. South Afric A Country Found At The Southern Tip Of Africa... Background Information South Africa is a country found at the southern tip of Africa that boasts of a relatively rich history. Dutch traders arrived at the south most tip of present day South Africa in 1652 and built a stopover point on the path that was used to transport spice between Holland and the Far East, consequently instituting the town of Cape Town. After the British captured the Cape of Good Hope area in 1806, many of the Dutch residents fled to the north to institute their own republics in areas taken from the indigenous African populace (Beck, 2014). The exposition of gemstones and silver stimulated prosperity and immigration and increased the subjugation of the local population. The Afrikaners opposed English encroachments but were beaten in the Second South African War (1899 1902); nonetheless, the English and the Afrikaners, continued to rule over South Africain 1910 under the Union of South Africa. Following a whites only referendum, South Africa became a republic in 1961 (Thompson Berat, 2014). In 1948, the National Party, which was widely Afrikaner dominated, was elected into power and implemented a protocol of apartheid the individualized growth of the races which highly privileged the white colored community at the cost of the Africans who ironically represented the majority. • 43. Anita Desai s Clear Light Of Day Escapism in Anita Desai s Clear Light of Day Clear Light of Day, written by Anita Desai and published in 1980, tells the story of the siblings of the Das family living in Old Delhi. It tells the story of Bim, the eldest sister a history professor and caretaker of Baba, their youngest, autistic brother. She is a spinster who seems to have been left behind by everyone. Headstrong, intelligent and apparently sure of her choices, it seems that Bim has had no desire to escape her life. The novel also tells the story of Tara and of Raja, the two apparently more prosperous siblings, who both manage to escape the bleak atmosphere of the house; Tara through her marriage to Bakul, and Raja through his immersion in Urdu poetry and Islamic culture, his relationship with Hyder Ali, and consequently, his moving away to Hyderabad and marriage to Benazir. Escapism plays a very important role in the story of Anita Desai s Clear Light of Day. The focus of this essay is to explore how this theme affects the relationship between Bim and Raja. Best friends and partners in crime, Bim and Raja share a love of literature and poetry, and are the closest of the four siblings. Eventually, however, Raja s admiration of Hyder Ali leads him to Urdu poetry and an interest in Islamic culture, seeking an escape from the stifling, insipid atmosphere of his own home and life. What seems to have started as scholarly interest, and initially even draws Bim s admiration, leads to Raja s escape to Hyderabad to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Roman Empire declined for its division between the Eastern, and the Western Rome which occurred in 285 A.D. After the fall of Rome, the literature, its art, history, and technology were scattered and was lost near the western part of the empire. This scattering of lost history made the formation of a new West Empire. Christianity and Roman Catholicism played a dominant role in the shaping of the Western. There are three major parts that influenced and helped the development of the Western Civilization which is Mesopotamia, Ancient Greece, and Ancient Rome. Mesopotamia heavily influenced the development of western civilization, by their organized shaped communities. Many historians traced the roots western civilization back to the land area between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. Having land between rivers allowed a surplus of food from farming, engineering advances, such as the construction of canals, dams, drains, and the Sumerians and Babylonians could build large cities. This land was known to be Mesopotamia. Mesopotamia was the West first enormous societal structure and system. Personal Philosophy Of Christian Education Essay One of the biggest obstacles as Christian educators is to integrate biblical principles into our teaching philosophy without being accused of indoctrinating students. Therefore, it is important for me to embrace a personal philosophy of education grounded in my Christian worldview which is that everything I do in both my personal and professional life will be inspired by God which will be demonstrated by my dedication to student learning and advancement of my own knowledge. • 47. Essay about Humanism, Cognitivism and Behaviourism In this assignment I shall be exploring three theories of teaching and learning. They are Humanism, Cognitivism and Behaviourism. I shall be explaining the main factors of the three theories and then explaining how they can support effective teaching and learning in general and for myself personally in my teaching role. The first theory I shall explore is Humanism. Humanism stresses [a learner s] interests, individuality and creativity in short the [learner s] freedom to develop naturally and from teacher domination (Lunenburg p.467). When teaching a lesson a teacher is more of a facilitator when planning and delivering a lesson. An effective humanistic approach is not one of teacher control (behaviourism) nor does it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is an active type of learning and more intrinsically motivating but there are risks involved in delivering a lesson or task in this way. A tutor can confuse the class with inaccurate explanations and a lack of knowledge on the tutor s part. The second sequence of learning is less intrinsically motivating but can be better controlled by the tutor. This second sequence of learning is known as deductive learning. This is preferred by the theorist Ausabel. Meaningful learning, according to Ausabel, entails acquiring new knowledge that links existing knowledge and which can be easily retained and applied. (Gould p. 48) Ausabel, in contrast to Bruner, believes that students need a structured set of instructions and when that builds on existing learning it can contribute greatly to student understanding. Ausabel also encourages the use of an advanced organiser . This can be applied at the beginning of the lesson so the learner knows what to expect and the logical order in which they will receive information. As mentioned before this a less risky way of learning but some may see it as mollycoddling . I personally believe a mix of the two contributes to an effective lesson. To have an advanced organiser at the beginning of the lesson, then being given the tasks in the logical order but with the learner discovering the answers for themselves with the tutors help can ... However, such a villain would distract from the impact of the play and would be trite. Shakespeare to add depth to his villain makes him amoral, as opposed to the typical immoral villain. Iagos entire scheme begins when the ignorant, ill suited Cassio is given the position he desired. Iago is consumed with envy and plots to steal the position he feels he most justly deserves. Iago deceives, steals, and kills to gain that position. However, it is not that Iago pushes aside his conscience to commit these acts, but that he lacks a conscience to begin with. He manages to betray almost every person that comes across him, and he will always be happy when he sees others working unwittingly to fulfill his purposes. Iago is a concept more than a character, and the play provides us with a series of images he calls it a panopticon that successively produce an understanding of this concept. The concept of Iago reveals that evil is a pathological derivative of ordinary human practices, that it depends on the good and is secondary to it. In its pure form evil can hardly be understood as a human practice (Escobedo, 2010). This paper will explore the association between Quebeckers and how much the average Quebecker really likes Canada on a scale from really dislike (0) to really like (100). This association is relevant because the history of division between Quebec and the rest of Canada has resulted in many referendums and resentment that thrives today as much as it did in the past. The results may not be shocking, but the empirical data analysis shows that the average Quebecker does not really like Canada when the threshold for really like is set at 80 or more out of 100. They were specifically chosen because they best fit the direction of the research where I wanted to explore the relationship between overall feelings towards Canada in a particular province: Quebec. Neither variable was recoded because it showed to be unnecessary, in the case of provinces, and illogical for the PES11_11, a scale variable (highest level of measurement). Since this is a scale variable, I was able to calculate all the measures of central tendency (measures that tell us the most typical values) and dispersion (how typical these typical central values are). These statistics are relevant to calculate because they allow for more meaningful calculations that allow us to draw more specific and accurate conclusions about claims such as the standard error, confidence intervals, z scores and statistical significance. By the time they can cut of the plant the disease would have spread to the neighboring plants as well. P. infestans are produced through sexual and asexual mating. The two mating types are known as A1 and A2 ( Nowicki et al 2012). When mycelia of both types interact they produce oospores sexually. Mycelia is the branched filament of fungi (Encyclopaedia Britannica 2017). Oospores are spores that have a thick coating that allows them to survive harsh environmental conditions for a long period (Nowicki et al 2012).
