The Bi-Polar World Order Essay
Under the ruins of the World War II (WWII), a new world order was beginning to appear. The old and
weak European powers, were devastated from the war, and could no longer hold the world on its
shoulders. Subsequently, new superpowers had to take over the control; they were the USSR and the
USA. Soon after the end of WWII, new international tensions became apparent after the break of the
Grand Alliance (Taylor, 1993, p. 49). The disagreements between the new superpowers grew to a point
where the Cold War became a fact. That new world order split the world ideologically into two camps;
the anti imperialist(USA) and the anti capitalist(USSR)(Ibid, p.51).The ideological war was
underlined by a geopolitical transition, subsequently creating ... Show more content on

With the start of the Cold War, however, the concept was developed and incorporated within its
rhetoric (Dodds, 2000, p.61). For Agnew, the term began to be referred to the newly formed states,
product from the ongoing wind of change (Taylor, 1993, p.55), and other states that were outside the
settled spheres of influence of the superpowers (Agnew, 1998, p.112). However, in the Cold War
rhetoric the Third World still referred, in certain a certain sense, to another way the Third Way.
According to Agnew, those states signified the resistance to the dominating political and economic
discourse of the Cold War (Ibid, p.113). Those resistances led to the creation of the Non Alignment
Movement (NAM), in 1961. It included, member states, such as Egypt, India and Yugoslavia. The idea
of the movement, according to Dodds(2000, pp.57 8), was to resist the geopolitical pressures of the
Cold War, and to establish a forum where common problems could be discussed, without any
interference from the superpowers. As it appeared this wasn t the only rationale behind the creation of
NAM. In the NAM summit of 1973, in Algiers, the member states committed to pursue a New form of
International Economic Order (NIEO), aimed at reducing the economic and political gap between the
North and the South (Ibid, 58). These events were in conjunction with the rise of oil prices, declared

Essay about The Life of a Chinese Farmer
Contemporary World Culture Project Part I
Instructor: Sally Franco
Ashley Guioa
February 5, 2013
The year is 2006, my name is Ashley, and I am a Chinese farmer who lives in the North China Plain
with my husband and three children aged newborn, six, and eleven years old. We are located about
ninety miles from Beijing in which we commute to by means of a fast train when needed. The North
China Plain is known as China s Breadbasket because it contains sixty five percent of its farmland.
My family and I have six acres of land for our farming income and livelihood. Three acres are used for
rice harvesting and the other three acres are used for the growth of vegetables for sale including
cucumbers, peppers, and cabbage. Also owned on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On a daily basis we eat a variety of foods cooked in many fashions. For our meat dishes, we
sometimes, fry, bake, braise, steam, roast, or boil them and it contains any of the following: chicken,
fish, pork, or beef. Of course we consume a lot of rice with our meals, some of which are stir fry
dishes that contain meat, vegetables, and rice. In addition our Chinese culture has several different
soups as well. We are creative with our meals based on the vegetables, meats, and rice that we produce
ourselves. Occasionally we will venture out to the local markets to purchase other types of food for a
little more variety, when we have the extra money or additional goods of our own for trade. Local
markets can be found all over the streets of China in every area and consist of items such as
vegetables, meats, fish, sweets, and even everyday items such as silk, tea, jade, porcelain, household
items, etc. Living in poverty as a Chinese farmer in the year 2006 isn t an easy life. It s the only life
that I ve known, therefore, the only life that my children have known. Income isn t always steady and
part time help on the farm isn t always available. We can only do the best that we can. I have several
fears and worries on a constant basis including not selling enough products to make income, or even
break even in a year s worth of hard work and dedication. I also fear that major storms and/or weather

Behavioral And Emotional Aspect Of Human Thinking
approach deals with the behavioral and emotional aspect of human thinking. Humans are complex
there is no single way to help them stop the behavior. REBT assumes a persons problems come from
their mistaken cognitions, which they have perceived. Which have lead to over or under reactions, this
behavior becomes habitual and the person creates a dysfunctional pattern. The pattern enables them to
continue to repeat the poor behavior, although they know it is unhealthly. In addition REBT, we label
our reactions either consciouly or unconsciouly, therefore if we feel depressed, anxious or fearful it is
because we have convinced ourselves and validate our emotional reaction. One major tenet of REBT
is external events do not determine a persons feelings, a persons individuals beliefs about the event
determine if the person has a problem or not. Thus, we are not upset about an event in our particular
life, what makes us upset is our interpretation of the event.
Intervention
The REBT framwork of Albert Ellis (1962) operates as one ot the most straightforward and well
known models for explaining the connection between events, thoughts, beliefs, cognitions, emotions,
and behaviors (Field, Beeson, Jones, 2015, p. 207)REBT has two competing models, one (classic)
assumes dysfuncational negative feeling (anxiety, depressed, anger), differ from corresponsing feeling
like concern, remorse and sadness. The scond model (original), assumes the there is a difference

Racism Against Indigenous People
Racism Against Indigenous People
If racism to the Canadian Indigenous is over, how is it that 50.7% of Indigenous peoples have reported
moderate, or high levels of psychological stress, while sadly, 22% commit suicide. As we very much
know, racism is a big problem in our world today. It may sometimes be confused that one can only be
racist to another with a different skin colour. Not only can racial ideas be affected or shaped through
skin colour, but also religion and culture alike. That is why it is commonly misconceived, that there
was no wrongdoing or discrimination towards the Indigenous peoples back when the Europeans first
arrived. I believe that the Canadian government is not doing nearly enough to provide our natives with
proper the sympathy they re entitled to, causing them to fall ever deeper into the hole of racism and
misunderstanding. Using our history, I will explain what happened to the Indigenous peoples of
Canada and why they should be given more of a chance in their lives to command authority and
leadership, concluding with how we can help.
As the 16th century began, the Indigenous peoples were living happy and peaceful lives, respecting
the environment and the creatures within it. But with about 5 years time passing, the europeans came,
commencing what would eventually be the cause of all our Indigenous problems now a days... so,
what did they do? As the europeans crossed the border, they introduce many things into the first
nations daily lives. Firstly,

Teen Pregnancy Rates Paper
This week s assignment had me take a closer look on how environment truly influences teen
pregnancy rates in my community. Teens living in poverty have a greater likelihood of becoming
pregnant than teens living in affluent communities. What causes this disparity? Social and
environmental factors are in large part responsible for the disparity. The adults in lower income
families are often less educated, have a criminal history, hold low income jobs, or are unemployed.
Lower income communities are plagued by gun violence, gang inhabitance, and the availability of
drugs. Teens that become pregnant at an early age, have parents that themselves were pregnant as
teens ( Teen Pregnancy Facts, Teen Pregnancy Statistics Teen Pregnancy Environmental ... Show more

According to the CDC, Teen pregnancy rates are highest within the Hispanic and African American
demographic ( Social Determinants and Teen Pregnancy / Teen Pregnancy / Reproductive Health /
CDC, 2015). This trend can be linked to neighborhood income inequality and lower educational
opportunity for these demographics ( Social Determinants and Teen Pregnancy / Teen Pregnancy /
Reproductive Health / CDC, 2015). In my Voicethread post I addressed the idea of generational
poverty for many families in urban communities across the country. Adolescents and teens that have
grandparents and parents that live in poverty are more likely to experience poverty in their adult lives.
Low income families rely on multiple forms of government aid, including food stamps, rent
assistance, and other governmental subsidies to decrease their financial burden each month. Cyclic
poverty is among the most difficult patterns to overcome. Decreased economic prospects for young
girls in urban environments steer them towards teen parenting (Kempner, 2013). Watching their
parents get by is enough motivation for vulnerable young women to take the plunge into parenthood.
However, parents that seek education and personal betterment often seek safer environments in which
to raise their children, breaking the cycle of poverty for their families. The educational push by the
adults in their lives should be there for teens,

Defining Zero-Based Budgeting
ZERO BASED BUDGETING
What is Zero Based Budgeting?
Zero based budgeting is an innovative approach towards budgeting in corporations that is based on the
framing of assumptions about costs and benefits each time the budget is prepared. A budget is a plan
for the allocation of financial resources by an organization. Organizations possess finite financial
resources that managers allocate among various projects with the expectation that the utilization of
financial resources during the operation of these projects will enable the organization to earn a
targeted level of revenues or profits.
Like every plan, the budget is based on some assumptions about what the costs and revenues will be
affected by, and what the magnitude of these effects will be. These assumptions may change each time
a budget is made and thus may need to be incorporated in the new budget. As opposed to the
conventional form of budgeting which will be discussed later in this paper, zero based budgeting does
not assume that the assumptions made at the time of the last budget are still valid in the present
context. Therefore, the assumptions have to be developed again and justified before senior
management in order to win approval for the allocation of financial resources planned in the budget
(Prokopenko, 1987).
In revising the assumptions afresh, in zero based budgeting, the planner does not base his or her
estimates for the next year on the basis of the figures of the previous year. This is the historic

Speech On Selfies
Whether you re posting a duck face or sticking your tongue out, selfies have taken over social media.
Selfies aren t always a bad influence and don t always make people judge themselves so critically. So
we will discuss why selfies are a good idea and why you should take a few more pictures and post
them to Instagram. Pro number one, selfies are scientifically proven to boost confidence, now who
couldn t recognize this. When we post a selfie looking our best and we get likes for it, it produces a
boost of dopamine in our brain, giving us that feel good vibe. Now you can understand why some get
addicted to taking multiple selfies a day. Selfies captures memorable moments we may not have been

Selfies help people express themselves in ways they would have never before. You are usually very
comfortable with your own self taking pictures and not others, therefore you can be funny, nerdy, or
sexy without feeling judged. Time magazine reports that selfies can just be an outlet of self expression
and we shouldn t be so consumed with all the selfies floating in cyber space. Self captured images
allow young adults and teens to express their mood states and share important experiences, says Dr.
Andrea Letamendi, a clinical psychologist and research fellow at UCLA. As teens and adolescents try
to form their identity, selfies serve as a way to test how they look, and therefore feel, in certain outfits,
make up, poses and places. And because we live in a digital world, selfies provide a way of
participating and interacting with that world. Selfies has also allowed women to publicly celebrate
their flaws. For example, Demi Lovato has posted selfies to Instagram without any makeup on and has
encouraged her fans to do likewise. Other sites have been supporting women to take selfies everyday
for a year, regardless of how they

Lowell Mills Industry Analysis
Getting chosen to work in the Lowell Mills was a gift many young girls in the New England States
initially aspired to achieve. The Lowell Mills was a group of factories built in the 1820 s for the
manufacture of textiles (GilderLehrman.org, 2015). Increasing population numbers in the United
States required more goods made from cotton that required milling and weaving into useable products.
Expanding on roles women performed during the War of 1812 and wanting additional compensation
and recognition for their work, young girls left their families and went to work in one of these mills.
Enticing the girls with promises of tolerable working conditions, a formal education, and comfortable
living quarters, the owners of the factories were able to recruit the girls at a lesser wage than what was
paid to men (Tindall Shi, 2013). Eventually rapid growth and unfavorable working conditions led
others to question whether factory work was the proper work environment for young girls. ... Show

Young girls and women worked thirteen hour days, six days a week in extremely hazardous, unsafe
conditions (Tindall Shi, 2013). As the number of mills grew and competition increased, the Lowell
Mill workers were expected to work harder for lesser amounts of money and fewer benefits. Suffering
from less pay, harder work, and additional pay decreases, the Lowell Mill employees organized strikes
to combat the treatment they were receiving (Tindall Shi, 2013). Having to organize themselves to
protect the rights they had originally expected; a formal education, exposure to culture, and the
opportunity to use this information to enhance and improve their lives in the future, was lost when

Changes In African American Culture
All throughout American history, there have been many conflicts involving equality and obeying the
social norms. Women and African Americans are the citizens that have faced the most adversity in
these problems, but they both also have overcame these adversities and made changes that would go
on to change the nation forever. Before World War II, women faced pressure from society to stay at
home and support a family while their husbands worked and had fun, and they lacked the rights and
respect that men were already granted. Also before World War II, African Americans were isolated
from society and had no rights, until the Harlem Renaissance when their culture swept across
America. After World War II, women were still pressured to conform to ... Show more content on

Women were expected to marry at very early ages, usually between 17 and 20 and they were still to
slave at home for their husbands and children. Women previously had fought for higher education, but
suddenly they were going to college to meet a husband, or they were not going to college at all, as
they feared higher education would make marriage more difficult (Friedan, 1963). Women were gladly
conforming to these expectations as they all aimed to have four or five kids, live in a suburban
neighborhood where they could kiss their husband goodbye as they left for work and they could cook
and clean while their children were at school. Many women even turned down job opportunities and
claimed it was because all they ever wanted was to be a housewife (Friedan, 1963). However, women
slowly began to realize their conformity was not what they wanted for themselves at all. In the 1960 s,
many housewives reported that they had felt there was no point in their day to day routines, they had
felt depressed in their own homes without a clue why, and getting so angry with their children it
scared them. These women were afraid to admit that they wanted more for themselves besides their
husband and children (Friedan, 1963). However, women were able to fight this expectation through
the sexual liberation movement. The women were empowered by this movement because it gave them
more freedom to do what they wanted to

Iran Nuclear Deal And Its Effects On The Middle East
The Iran Nuclear Deal has caught the attention of many nations around the world. The Iran Nuclear
Deal, is a deal that will prevent Iran from developing an atomic bomb, by reducing and controlling the
amount of plutonium and uranium available for them to use. One of the most important countries
involved in this deal is the United States. The United States is currently debating whether they should
agree to this nuclear deal. Agreeing to this deal will benefit the United States, by suspending some of
Iran s specialized weapons, making Iran less of a threat. America has enough to contend with, and
making a deal with Iran will put America in a much more secure position. Iran is notorious for their
harsh acts of terrorism, and the devastation of their specialized weaponry, including ballistic missiles.
It is outlined in the deal that Iran will suspend and delay the amount of time, special weaponry is
available to them, limiting their harsh acts of terrorism throughout the Middle East. The United States
has vital national interests in the Middle East, including their security of allies, ensuring the
availability of region s energy supply, opposition to terrorism, and the proliferation of weapons of
mass destruction. (Haass) Iran having access to their special weaponry, will put the interests of the
United States in jeopardy. If Iran attempts to destabilize any of these interests, the U.S will view it as a
threat, and will take military action if necessary. It is integral for

Should 16 And 16 Year Olds Be Allowed To Vote
In the article, Takoma Park 16 year old savors his history making moment at the polls , by Annys Shin,
it is said that Ben Miller a 16 year old boy walked into the toll booth at Takoma Park Community
Center and was planned to do something about the fact that 16 year olds cannot vote in the election.
This brings up an interesting argument of whether or not 16 and 17 year olds should be allowed to
vote. People will argue that 16 and 17 year olds do not know what they are doing or just have a lack of
interest and that is a reason why some say no to letting them vote but others say that it could mean the

There is a strict requirement by the Internal Revenue...
There is a strict requirement by the Internal Revenue Service to taxpayers requiring them to follow
appropriate guidelines as they try to make a determination on whether an activity is a profit making
investment activity or as a hobby or pastime. These guidelines are meant for taxation purposes and
serve to ensure that the taxpayers are taxed fairly, and they pay all taxes that are due. Failure to
indicate profits or losses made in a hobby or business venture may have an impact on the tax liability
of an individual. It is, therefore, important that hobbies are not conducted as businesses and taxes not

Other issues that must be considered is whether you have changed any methods of operation in order
to improve profitability, whether you have any knowledge needed to continue with activity as a
business, whether you have made any profits from similar activities in the past and whether the
present activity makes a profit in some years and finally, whether you expect to make future profits
from any appreciation in the value of assets that are used in the activity.
Taking all the above into consideration, an activity may be presumed to be intended for profit if it
makes a profit for at least or in at least three of the previous five tax years. This includes the current
year or, in some cases, at least two of the last seven years of activities that are concerned primarily

Critiquing Communication and Interviewing Skills
Critiquing communication and interviewing skills of a health assessment interview with a client
Introduction Communication is one of the basic survival skills of human and also a fundamental part
of nursing. Effective communication would help to promote a positive nurse client relationship which
is crucial for the delivery of quality nursing care (Sheppard, 1993; McCabe 2003). Health assessment
is also vital in collecting information in the nursing process. In order to collect data in a systematic
and standardized approach, and enable the nurse to determine different aspects of health and human

framework of the assessment. The pattern named ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The third weakness observed is the frequent use of cliché such as don t worry too much and that s
normal which would give the client an impression that the nurse does not address and understand her
situation well. This is because clichés sounds flippant ,do not always suit the current situation and
could prevent the building of trust between the nurse and client (Dewit, 2001). One more weakness
encountered is that the nurse might have frightened the client by saying that s serious! and the final
outcome of the breast cancer when the client said she had discovered a hard substance on her left
breast. The nurse may not be able to handle this situation as the client burst in to tears the moment that
she heard the frightening statements. This would distract and confuse the client and therefore the pace
of the interview would be disrupted (Hodgson, Martin, 2006). Rooms for improvement If time is
allowed, the nurse could teach the client how to perform a thorough self examination in order to assist
her detecting the body changes as the client seemed not to have enough knowledge on BSE. Secondly,
open ended question should be adopted as the major type of interview questions because it allows
maximum freedom for the client to respond in his or her own way (Balzer, Julia, 2004). Finally, nurse
should rehearse the whole set of question before conducting a real interview so that she could be more
relaxed when dealing with client s responses. Insights and

Dawson Mcallister Gender Stereotypes
Gender Stereotypes The issue of gender stereotypes is a complex one. When people think about this
problem, they think that men and women have to have certain roles in society. The gender stereotype
that women are more emotional than men is a very common gender stereotype that is a problem in our
society. This stereotype was most common around 1952, yet the stereotype still occurs today through
the media. Judging a women to be the more emotional gender is bad for society because it shapes the
woman into being that stereotype. Even though the stereotype that women are more emotional than
men is often portrayed through society and the media, men are just as emotional as women. In

evidence, McAllister is false because even though women often show their emotions, men are more
emotional deep down, but are not willing to show it. According to Elite Daily by Paul Hudson, he
states that, In this study, conducted by neurologists at Mindlab, men are actually much more sensitive
than women when it comes to being presented with emotional stimuli... Boys are taught to be ashamed
of the emotions that they experience, so they grow into men who are both emotional confused and in
denial... Don t cry. Don t pout. Don t complain Be a man an emotionless, stubborn man (Hudson 13).
As can be seen in the evidence, men have a bigger reaction to stimuli. Furthermore, while men are
taught to hide their feelings, women are taught to share their emotions with others, and this causes
men to tend to be more emotional. In conclusion, men are just as, sometimes more, emotional than
women, but they hide their emotions

Concentric Or Eccentric Training
This article is about the modifications to muscle strength, velocity, and neural activity as well as any
morphological changes subsequently going through either eccentric or concentric training. Eccentric
training has illustrated to have adequately good effects on muscle hypotrophy, strengthening the
muscle, and has made efficient exercises for injured athletes going through rehabilitation. But with
eccentric training it makes lower concentric but vaster eccentric strength enhancements compared
with concentric training, due to eccentric and concentric training providing dissimilar stimuli to the
muscles. An improvement is necessary in obtaining the information of the potential differences of
morphological and neural adaptations in the early stages of eccentric and concentric training in order
to improve musculoskeletal rehabilitation programs and there has been a lack of researching the
effects of resistance training. The purpose of the article is to compare what effects and the differences
six weeks of concentric or eccentric training could possibly do to the ... Show more content on

in muscle thickness and muscle quality even though the eccentric training group performed a heavier

distinction between the two groups is that the eccentric group enhanced their isometric strength with
eccentric exercises. Concentric strength is better in those who trained concentrically and eccentric
strength is better in those who trained eccentrically, which is common sense,

Using The Conventional Shopping Processes
Abstract With an increasingly consumerist society, the crowds and queues at the markets and stores
using the conventional shopping processes, are inevitable, our aim is to change that by making the
shopping at a store and maintaining a warehouse easy through Near Field Communication. The system
that we are going to implement cuts down the costs of maintaining a product serial number based
database and most importantly saves time in the checkout process and hence an expanding customer
base for the store that it is implemented in. We intend to make the system as intuitive as possible so
that it can be easily used by people who are not very technologically aware. We have also decided to
add a recommendation engine to our app that will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Phantom Tollbooth Comparison
The Phantom Tollbooth is a book that tells the story of a little boy on his journey to the Land Beyond,
while the animated film Up delivers the story of an old man on his adventure to Paradise Falls. The
journey from the view point of an old man will contain differences from the one looked at through a
young child s lens. But after the journey, both Carl and Milo receive a meaningful gift that totally
change the way they look at life.
From the outset, both Milo in The Phantom Tollbooth and Carl in Up set out for a journey. But Milo in
The Phantom Tollbooth starts the journey as a young boy who has plenty of time and does not mind
where he is going to end up (Juster). Milo s journey, in fact, is an unforeseen adventure of an oblivious
and idle boy to the latent sea of knowledge. However, the journey of Carl in Up appears to be a long
time planned one, and when the local authorities intend to send him to a retirement home, they also
stimulate him to begin his adventure to the Paradise Falls. Carl, an old man, decides to take this
journey as a promise to his late beloved wife. The main character in both the book and the movie can
be perceived as a pair of the young and the old, but the pair in the book and the pair in the movie

Essay about The Pros and Cons of Imperialism
Throughout history, many powerful nations interfered with nations that were weaker than they were.
This form of sabotaging a nation is economic, political or cultural life is called as imperialism.
Imperialism is often separated into two sects. The first one is old imperialism, which was the period
from the 1500s to the 1800s, where European nation started to colonize many areas such as the
Americas, and parts of Southeast Asia. On the other hand, the new imperialism was the period
between the years 1870 1914 , where Europe became more focused on expanding their land into Asia
and Africa. Imperialism had many pros and cons. In addition, it also had many causes led by the

Their business interests demand that colonial markets should be opened and developed and that
foreign competitors should be shut out. Such aims require political control and imperialism. By Parker
T. Moore, Imperialism and world politics, 1926.Politics and the military also had significance in
causing new imperialism. One example is that when a nation had many colonies it believed it would
be more powerful and secure. The second example is nationalism, which was a motive for achieving a
goal for a nation. Last cause was the poem The White Man s Burden , which was written by Rudyard
Kipling, to justify imperialism. Imperialism had several diverse impacts on Asia, Africa, and Europe.
The pros about imperialism, was that new roads and railroads that were built connected many parts of
India. The introduction of the telegraph and postal systems united many people. Discovering new
agricultural methods improved farming in the west and in Africa and Asia. Schools that were built by
the British educated many people. Human rights were recognized, by ending customs that threatened
many humans. On the other hand, the cons of imperialism were what benefited Europeans and
infuriated the Asians, and Africans. Many individuals and groups resisted imperial rule. European
tried many ways to westernize the subject people s cultures. Many of the resources that were

in a point scored by the team kicking the ball. There are only three officials involved during play: The

How Did The Great Train Robbery Essay
The Great Train Robbery No crime in British history has ever come close to the Great Train Robbery.
It shocked the people of Britain as well as Scotland Yard who were bewildered by just how well
executed it was and how a group of convicts managed to pull it off. They would make off with little
over £2.6 million in a raid that would take as little as 46 minutes to execute. But these petty criminals
would soon learn the price of their deeds as they would get 378 years in jail between them. But with
any story there is a beginning and this tale will not fail to deliver excitement and fascination. The date
was Tuesday, 27th of November 1962. Two 3.8 litre Jaguars pulled up outside Comet House, the
centre of operations for the British airline BOAC by Heatrow airport. Nobody took notice as four City
Gents walked into the top storey men s bathroom. They were dressed in furry bowler hats and wore
black jackets and suits. They blended in with the crowd and huddled at the bathroom window. As they

The Use Of Macrophage Auns Mediated Photothermal Therapy
In addition, it was shown that macrophages can mediate the delivery of gold shell NPs into
multicellular human glioma spheroids 76. In the report, gold shell NPs are composed of a silica core
coated with a thin layer of gold which greatly absorbs near infrared light to generate local heat around
NPs. Gold nanoshells (AuNS) NPs were loaded in macrophages via phagocytosis, and it is interesting
to observe no apparent toxicity of macrophages after their uptake of nanoparticles 77. When co
incubated with human glioma spheroids, nanoparticle laden macrophages can migrate and filtrate in
the tumor as usual 78. Furthermore, two photon fluorescence microscopy of glioma spheroids showed
that nanoparticle laden macrophages can accumulate in necrotic sites. When irradiated with 810 nm
laser light, the growth of glioma spheroid dramatically decreased compared with the control without
of nanoparticle loading. The efficacy of macrophage AuNS mediated photothermal therapy (PTT) on
glioma spheroids was also tested, and the growth of spheroids was dramatically suppressed. The same
group continued to examine the therapeutic efficacy of macrophage mediated delivery of AuNS
nanoparticles in rat glioma tumor model 79. C6 rat glioma cells were directly injected into brain to
generate brain tumor, following the injection of macrophage AuNS delivery system. After NIR laser
irradiation, it was observed that the tissue irradiated by laser was damaged, suggesting the therapeutic
effect of AuNS.

Christianity Is A Religion Based On The Person And God
There are over a billion people in the World who follow and support the Catholic Church. Christianity
is a religion based on the person and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth. Ever since Christianity started to
emerge in the mid first century it has only increased in size and became even more powerful now than
in the origins of the Religion. Jesus Christ is considered to be the Son of God and through the Bible s
scriptures that include many sacred writings of Christianity it has given people hope and more
importantly something to believe in. Faith is a huge part of any Religion because that is when you put
your complete trust or confidence in someone or something. For Christians our faith is put into the
Bible, believing in and worshipping a supreme being, God, and a superhuman, Jesus Christ. The
importance to Christianity and to anyone s growth in Christian life can be seen through believing in
someone whether human or divine, God as three persons in one divine being, genuine friendship, the
sacraments, and Jesus Christ as the fullness of both divinity and humanity. Although Christianity is not
for everyone, there are thousands of different kinds of Religion from which an individual can choose
to follow. Even though Christianity is one of the biggest Religions in the World there are just some
people who either don t believe in Christianity or have a hard time understanding it. Being brought up

Disadvantages Of Traveling The World
Paris, France for two months, Rome, Italy for three weeks and, Accra, Ghana for one year sounds like
the perfect life for most millennials. Traveling the world in addition to experiencing different cultures
is the ideal life to live in the eyes of the youth. Simple yet paralyzing situations such as money
problems can result in people staying where they are. Luckily there are jobs where we can make a
living off of our dreams. Being an au pair, traveling nurse, or graphic designers balances the situation
of money and a way of travel. These jobs are also very diverse in terms of the working field. With
advantages comes disadvantages each different for every job. Au pairs are not common in the United
States but it is one of the best ways to travel, learn a new language, and get money all at the same
time. To apply for this job the applicant must be single, between the ages of 18 and 30, no children,
good English skills, graduate of secondary school, and no criminal record (Au Pair World 1). Being an
au pair is similar to being a nanny but the age requirements are different. Au pairs are usually admitted
into a host family in France. The host family will provide shelter, food, and all the basic needs for
survival and in return he or she will babysit the host parents children. During the weekends the au pair
is allowed to roam around the city and explore their culture. Another benefit to being an au pair
through a program connected with au pair services, workers have the opportunity to learn another
language during their twelve month stay (Au Pair World 3). But on the contrary, there has been reports
of au pairs abused during their stay making this job a blessing but a possible curse. If looking after a

The Yoga Sutras, The Science Of The Mind, Body And Spirit
Introduction Top
In the Yoga Sutras, Yoga is defined as union of mind, body and spirit. Classically, Yoga is understood
as the science of the mind. [1] These days it is assuming importance in improving mental health and
quality of life in the treatment of a number of disorders. [2]
Several diseases affect a person s biopsychosocial functioning to a greater or lesser degree. [3] These
diseases are known as psychosomatic diseases. Psychosomatic means mind (psyche) and body (soma).
A psychosomatic disorder is a disease which involves both mind and body. There is a mental aspect to
every physical disease. How one reacts to and copes with disease varies greatly from person to person.
For example, a rash of psoriasis may not bother some people while it may make some feel depressed
and more ill. There can be physical effects from mental illness. For example, with some mental
illnesses one may not eat, or take care of oneself, and this can cause physical problems. [4]
WHO defines quality of life as individuals perceptions of their position in life in the context of the
culture and value systems in which they live and in relation to their goals, expectations, standards and
concerns. Hence, definition focuses on respondents perceived quality of life. [3]
Quality of life means a good physical and mental condition, consisting of two elements: The ability to
cope with everyday tasks (the biopsychosocial level) and the patient s satisfaction from his activities at

Henrik Isben s A Doll s House Essay
Nora is a captivating character in Ibsen s A Doll s House. She swings between extremes: she is either
very happy or immensely depressed, prosperous or completely desperate, wise or naive, impotent or
purposeful. You can understand this range in Nora, because she staggers between the person she
pretends to be and the one she someday hopes to become. Throughout the play, Nora is portrayed as
subordinate to her male counterpart, Torvald. As most other men during this time, Torvald believed
that women were not capable of making difficult decisions, or thinking for themselves. As the play

You can hear his resentment towards Nora when he exclaims, you are ill, Nora quot; (pg.63). She is
shocked into reality and sees what a masquerade their relationship has been. She becomes aware that
her father and her husband have seen her as a doll to be played with, a figure without opinion or will
of her own. She also realizes that she is treating her children the same way. Her whole life has been
based on illusion rather than reality.
The believability of the play hinges on your accepting Nora s sudden self awareness. Perceiving the
situation differs as she might feel that she has been a child so long she couldn t possibly grow up that
quickly. Or she might feel that she is already quite wise without realizing it, and that what happens is
credible.
A common reaction would be one of sadness for Torvald s loss. He s a straight laced, proper man, who
has worked his whole life to support her and their family. At first, he seems genuinely in love with
Nora, even if he does tend to nag and preach a bit. But as the play progresses, you discover more
disturbing parts of his character. Like anyone who doubts his own power, Torvald tries to frequently
prove it. He keeps firm authority over who comes to his study and whom he converses with at work,
and over everything

Climate Changes And Climate Change
From the observations presented in the paper it is clear that there is direct/indirect link between
extreme events and climate change and the similar observation was found by Seneviratne et al., 2012)
supporting that Climate change has resulted in changes in the occurrence of extreme events.
Moreover, Out of 24 extreme events analyzed in this paper, 12 showed direct or indirect links to
anthropogenic climate change and some could not be explained. Once a change has been detected it is
important to attribute that change to some cause. Attribution, especially to human greenhouse gas
emissions, gives confidence to model projections of the future driven by anthropogenic forcing as well
as predictions of extremes at shorter time scales (Seneviratne and Zwiers, 2015). When an extreme
event occurs, the question of attribution of these events to human induced climate change is of
particular interest. Two schools of thought have emerged in this rapidly developing field. Oxford
quantifies the change in probability of an extreme event of a particular observed magnitude caused by
the human alteration of the climate system whereas Boulder (NOAA s Earth System Research
Laboratory) examines the human induced change in magnitude of an extreme event. While providing
different types of information to stakeholders, both these probabilistic and mechanistic schools of
thought have been shown to be equivalent (Easterling et al 2016). But in some cases, some scientists

Environmental Problems Of Global Warming

Along with the rapid economic development in the past several decades, environmental problems
come to the public s attention recently. People from different countries all around the world start to

which is mostly caused by the greenhouse gases emissions. Global warming will lead to long lasting
changes in our climate and may threaten people s health and welfare for current and future
generations. [1] United States Environmental Protection Agency finds that in 2012, the electric power

Analysis Of The Judgement Of Thamus By Neil Postman
Neil Postman, a firm protester against technology, begins his argument in The Judgement of Thamus
with a parable about a king rejecting an inventor who incorporates writing into their society; the king,
Thamus, is steadfast in his belief that writing s future burdens will outweigh its immediate success.
Postman argues that technological discoveries change the way we think, manipulating our culture and
our understanding of the world. He states that the primary difference between computers and humans
is the ability to self learn but what happens when the human race conquers that barrier with
technology? Artificial Intelligence is often referred to as the field I would most like to be in by
researchers in other sciences (semanticscholar.org). It is not only prominent in subfields like reasoning
and logic, but also in precise tasks like playing chess, proving theorems, and diagnosing diseases. The
short term benefits of Artificial Intelligence depend on who controls it, while the long term benefits of
Artificial Intelligence depend on if we can control it at all. When considering synthetic intelligence, I
believe our outlook must be cautiously positive. As Postman suggests, the development of technology
has significant advantages and disadvantages. Futurists believe AI will redefine the human world by
enabling software s ability to self program and by minimizing the time it takes to solve a challenge.
However, the safety issues and current jobs that will be replaced by

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Balanced Scorecard
The Balanced Scorecard (BSC) is thoroughly sustainable. Because when the proper management can
be done and when the formulation process can be done impeccably, then the sustainable Balanced

the sustainability. The perspectives should also be well formulated. The financial and customer s

the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) is sustainable universally and it can be used in any moment to pursue

With the processing starting at 11 am , the holding bins will continue to be filled at this rate subject to
the maximum capacities for wet berries (3200 bbls) and dry berries (4000 bbls). The bins capable of
holding wet berries would be

  • 2. The Bi-Polar World Order Essay Under the ruins of the World War II (WWII), a new world order was beginning to appear. The old and weak European powers, were devastated from the war, and could no longer hold the world on its shoulders. Subsequently, new superpowers had to take over the control; they were the USSR and the USA. Soon after the end of WWII, new international tensions became apparent after the break of the Grand Alliance (Taylor, 1993, p. 49). The disagreements between the new superpowers grew to a point where the Cold War became a fact. That new world order split the world ideologically into two camps; the anti imperialist(USA) and the anti capitalist(USSR)(Ibid, p.51).The ideological war was underlined by a geopolitical transition, subsequently creating ... For Agnew, the term began to be referred to the newly formed states, product from the ongoing wind of change (Taylor, 1993, p.55), and other states that were outside the settled spheres of influence of the superpowers (Agnew, 1998, p.112). However, in the Cold War rhetoric the Third World still referred, in certain a certain sense, to another way the Third Way. According to Agnew, those states signified the resistance to the dominating political and economic discourse of the Cold War (Ibid, p.113). Those resistances led to the creation of the Non Alignment Movement (NAM), in 1961. It included, member states, such as Egypt, India and Yugoslavia. The idea of the movement, according to Dodds(2000, pp.57 8), was to resist the geopolitical pressures of the Cold War, and to establish a forum where common problems could be discussed, without any interference from the superpowers. As it appeared this wasn t the only rationale behind the creation of NAM. In the NAM summit of 1973, in Algiers, the member states committed to pursue a New form of International Economic Order (NIEO), aimed at reducing the economic and political gap between the North and the South (Ibid, 58). We are located about ninety miles from Beijing in which we commute to by means of a fast train when needed. The North China Plain is known as China s Breadbasket because it contains sixty five percent of its farmland. My family and I have six acres of land for our farming income and livelihood. Of course we consume a lot of rice with our meals, some of which are stir fry dishes that contain meat, vegetables, and rice. In addition our Chinese culture has several different soups as well. We are creative with our meals based on the vegetables, meats, and rice that we produce ourselves. Occasionally we will venture out to the local markets to purchase other types of food for a little more variety, when we have the extra money or additional goods of our own for trade. Local markets can be found all over the streets of China in every area and consist of items such as vegetables, meats, fish, sweets, and even everyday items such as silk, tea, jade, porcelain, household items, etc. Living in poverty as a Chinese farmer in the year 2006 isn t an easy life. It s the only life that I ve known, therefore, the only life that my children have known. Income isn t always steady and part time help on the farm isn t always available. • 4. Behavioral And Emotional Aspect Of Human Thinking approach deals with the behavioral and emotional aspect of human thinking. Humans are complex there is no single way to help them stop the behavior. REBT assumes a persons problems come from their mistaken cognitions, which they have perceived. Which have lead to over or under reactions, this behavior becomes habitual and the person creates a dysfunctional pattern. The pattern enables them to continue to repeat the poor behavior, although they know it is unhealthly. In addition REBT, we label our reactions either consciouly or unconsciouly, therefore if we feel depressed, anxious or fearful it is because we have convinced ourselves and validate our emotional reaction. One major tenet of REBT is external events do not determine a persons feelings, a persons individuals beliefs about the event determine if the person has a problem or not. Thus, we are not upset about an event in our particular life, what makes us upset is our interpretation of the event. Intervention The REBT framwork of Albert Ellis (1962) operates as one ot the most straightforward and well known models for explaining the connection between events, thoughts, beliefs, cognitions, emotions, and behaviors (Field, Beeson, Jones, 2015, p. 207)REBT has two competing models, one (classic) assumes dysfuncational negative feeling (anxiety, depressed, anger), differ from corresponsing feeling like concern, remorse and sadness. Racism Against Indigenous People Racism Against Indigenous People If racism to the Canadian Indigenous is over, how is it that 50.7% of Indigenous peoples have reported moderate, or high levels of psychological stress, while sadly, 22% commit suicide. As we very much know, racism is a big problem in our world today. It may sometimes be confused that one can only be racist to another with a different skin colour. Not only can racial ideas be affected or shaped through skin colour, but also religion and culture alike. That is why it is commonly misconceived, that there was no wrongdoing or discrimination towards the Indigenous peoples back when the Europeans first arrived. I believe that the Canadian government is not doing nearly enough to provide our natives with proper the sympathy they re entitled to, causing them to fall ever deeper into the hole of racism and misunderstanding. Using our history, I will explain what happened to the Indigenous peoples of Canada and why they should be given more of a chance in their lives to command authority and leadership, concluding with how we can help. As the 16th century began, the Indigenous peoples were living happy and peaceful lives, respecting the environment and the creatures within it. But with about 5 years time passing, the europeans came, commencing what would eventually be the cause of all our Indigenous problems now a days... so, what did they do? • 6. Teen Pregnancy Rates Paper This week s assignment had me take a closer look on how environment truly influences teen pregnancy rates in my community. Teens living in poverty have a greater likelihood of becoming pregnant than teens living in affluent communities. What causes this disparity? Social and environmental factors are in large part responsible for the disparity. The adults in lower income families are often less educated, have a criminal history, hold low income jobs, or are unemployed. Lower income communities are plagued by gun violence, gang inhabitance, and the availability of drugs. Teens that become pregnant at an early age, have parents that themselves were pregnant as teens ( Teen Pregnancy Facts, Teen Pregnancy Statistics Teen Pregnancy Environmental ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to the CDC, Teen pregnancy rates are highest within the Hispanic and African American demographic ( Social Determinants and Teen Pregnancy / Teen Pregnancy / Reproductive Health / CDC, 2015). This trend can be linked to neighborhood income inequality and lower educational opportunity for these demographics ( Social Determinants and Teen Pregnancy / Teen Pregnancy / Reproductive Health / CDC, 2015). In my Voicethread post I addressed the idea of generational poverty for many families in urban communities across the country. Adolescents and teens that have grandparents and parents that live in poverty are more likely to experience poverty in their adult lives. Low income families rely on multiple forms of government aid, including food stamps, rent assistance, and other governmental subsidies to decrease their financial burden each month. Cyclic poverty is among the most difficult patterns to overcome. Decreased economic prospects for young girls in urban environments steer them towards teen parenting (Kempner, 2013). Watching their parents get by is enough motivation for vulnerable young women to take the plunge into parenthood. However, parents that seek education and personal betterment often seek safer environments in which to raise their children, breaking the cycle of poverty for their families. • 7. Defining Zero-Based Budgeting ZERO BASED BUDGETING What is Zero Based Budgeting? Zero based budgeting is an innovative approach towards budgeting in corporations that is based on the framing of assumptions about costs and benefits each time the budget is prepared. A budget is a plan for the allocation of financial resources by an organization. Organizations possess finite financial resources that managers allocate among various projects with the expectation that the utilization of financial resources during the operation of these projects will enable the organization to earn a targeted level of revenues or profits. Like every plan, the budget is based on some assumptions about what the costs and revenues will be affected by, and what the magnitude of these effects will be. These assumptions may change each time a budget is made and thus may need to be incorporated in the new budget. As opposed to the conventional form of budgeting which will be discussed later in this paper, zero based budgeting does not assume that the assumptions made at the time of the last budget are still valid in the present context. Therefore, the assumptions have to be developed again and justified before senior management in order to win approval for the allocation of financial resources planned in the budget (Prokopenko, 1987). In revising the assumptions afresh, in zero based budgeting, the planner does not base his or her estimates for the next year on the basis of the figures of the previous year. The Lowell Mills was a group of factories built in the 1820 s for the manufacture of textiles (GilderLehrman.org, 2015). Increasing population numbers in the United States required more goods made from cotton that required milling and weaving into useable products. Expanding on roles women performed during the War of 1812 and wanting additional compensation and recognition for their work, young girls left their families and went to work in one of these mills. Enticing the girls with promises of tolerable working conditions, a formal education, and comfortable living quarters, the owners of the factories were able to recruit the girls at a lesser wage than what was paid to men (Tindall Shi, 2013). Before World War II, women faced pressure from society to stay at home and support a family while their husbands worked and had fun, and they lacked the rights and respect that men were already granted. Women were gladly conforming to these expectations as they all aimed to have four or five kids, live in a suburban neighborhood where they could kiss their husband goodbye as they left for work and they could cook and clean while their children were at school. Many women even turned down job opportunities and claimed it was because all they ever wanted was to be a housewife (Friedan, 1963). However, women slowly began to realize their conformity was not what they wanted for themselves at all. In the 1960 s, many housewives reported that they had felt there was no point in their day to day routines, they had felt depressed in their own homes without a clue why, and getting so angry with their children it scared them. These women were afraid to admit that they wanted more for themselves besides their husband and children (Friedan, 1963). Basically, there is also one simple rule: No one except the goalkeeper may use they rehands to play the ball. Soccer is a simplistic sport. Eleven members of each team defend their side of the field to prevent the ball from being forced into their goal, which results in a point scored by the team kicking the ball. There are only three officials involved during play: The referee, and two linesmen. The equipment used in soccer is also very simple. It shocked the people of Britain as well as Scotland Yard who were bewildered by just how well executed it was and how a group of convicts managed to pull it off. They would make off with little over £2.6 million in a raid that would take as little as 46 minutes to execute. In the report, gold shell NPs are composed of a silica core coated with a thin layer of gold which greatly absorbs near infrared light to generate local heat around NPs. Gold nanoshells (AuNS) NPs were loaded in macrophages via phagocytosis, and it is interesting to observe no apparent toxicity of macrophages after their uptake of nanoparticles 77. When co incubated with human glioma spheroids, nanoparticle laden macrophages can migrate and filtrate in the tumor as usual 78. Furthermore, two photon fluorescence microscopy of glioma spheroids showed that nanoparticle laden macrophages can accumulate in necrotic sites. When irradiated with 810 nm laser light, the growth of glioma spheroid dramatically decreased compared with the control without of nanoparticle loading. The efficacy of macrophage AuNS mediated photothermal therapy (PTT) on glioma spheroids was also tested, and the growth of spheroids was dramatically suppressed. The same group continued to examine the therapeutic efficacy of macrophage mediated delivery of AuNS nanoparticles in rat glioma tumor model 79. • 34. Climate Changes And Climate Change From the observations presented in the paper it is clear that there is direct/indirect link between extreme events and climate change and the similar observation was found by Seneviratne et al., 2012) supporting that Climate change has resulted in changes in the occurrence of extreme events. Moreover, Out of 24 extreme events analyzed in this paper, 12 showed direct or indirect links to anthropogenic climate change and some could not be explained. Once a change has been detected it is important to attribute that change to some cause. Attribution, especially to human greenhouse gas emissions, gives confidence to model projections of the future driven by anthropogenic forcing as well as predictions of extremes at shorter time scales (Seneviratne and Zwiers, 2015). When an extreme event occurs, the question of attribution of these events to human induced climate change is of particular interest. Two schools of thought have emerged in this rapidly developing field. Oxford quantifies the change in probability of an extreme event of a particular observed magnitude caused by the human alteration of the climate system whereas Boulder (NOAA s Earth System Research Laboratory) examines the human induced change in magnitude of an extreme event. While providing different types of information to stakeholders, both these probabilistic and mechanistic schools of thought have been shown to be equivalent (Easterling et al 2016). • 37. Analysis Of The Judgement Of Thamus By Neil Postman Neil Postman, a firm protester against technology, begins his argument in The Judgement of Thamus with a parable about a king rejecting an inventor who incorporates writing into their society; the king, Thamus, is steadfast in his belief that writing s future burdens will outweigh its immediate success. Postman argues that technological discoveries change the way we think, manipulating our culture and our understanding of the world. He states that the primary difference between computers and humans is the ability to self learn but what happens when the human race conquers that barrier with technology? Artificial Intelligence is often referred to as the field I would most like to be in by researchers in other sciences (semanticscholar.org). It is not only prominent in subfields like reasoning and logic, but also in precise tasks like playing chess, proving theorems, and diagnosing diseases.
