Fusion And Hybrid Electric Vehicle
Three model years passed by and I finally got behind the wheel again of a Ford Fusion. Just like
the last time, this model was the Fusion Energi, a plug in hybrid electric vehicle based on Ford s
popular midsize car. Now in its fifth model year, the 2017 Fusion Energi is a close match to the
standard hybrid model as well as to the gasoline version. Besides the electric charging port
located just ahead of the driver s door, the other differences have to do with badging you ll find
Fusion Energi markups on the exterior as well as inside the sedan. And that s a good thing too the
Fusion is already an attractive model and no styling differentiation is warranted. Some
manufacturers opt for silly looking grilles or other embellishments to distinguish gas and hybrid
models. On the other hand, it seems Ford decided that a near uniform look for all Fusion models is
entirely sufficient. 2017 Ford Fusion Energi Platinum The 2017 version welcomes a third trim
level, Platinum, joining the SE and Titanium editions. Also new this year is the grille, exterior LED
lighting, and SYNC 3 infotainment system. All models now come with an 11 speaker audio system
and a new rotary transmission selector. What hasn t changed is the 2.0 liter, four cylinder engine
powering this model nor the permanent magnet AC synchronous electric motor or the lithium ion
battery. Also present is an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission to turn the
front wheels. Selling hybrids is a

Examples Of Honey Baby Sweetheart
Deb Caletti said in, Honey, Baby, Sweetheart I was like a chocolate in a box, looking well
behaved and perfect in place, all the while harboring a secret center. Facades are used in
everyday life all around you, but you never notice them. A prime example is my best friend. She
acts rambunctious and like her friends when she is around them. She basically abandons the way
she was raised to fit in and be popular. When she gets around her family she is the angel they
raised. Facades are the worst lies because they can be very easily shattered, are destructive, and can
wrongfully take an opportunity from another.
Like glass, facades can be very easily broken with even the smallest of fractures. An example of a
small fracture can be changing the way you speak or the way you dress. People pick up on the
smallest differences even the slightest things. After that small fracture come the shatter. Which
brings on an abundance more to deal with and clean up. After the shatter comes the hurt of others.
Facades are easily believed therefore when people see it was a lie they feel betrayed. Now that the
façade is shattered along with the trust of betrayed the mess is left to be cleaned up. As an
example of trying to clean up the mess author Stephanie Ericsson says in the essay The Ways We
Lie ...I saw less than a hundred bucks. ...I confronted him, he raised both eyebrows and tried to
convince me that I d heard him wrong (476). To attempt to undo the havoc caused one of two

Death On The Nile By Agatha Christie
Along with Agatha Christie s other famous works, Christie wrote the book Death on the Nile.
This book once again includes Mrs. Christie s most famous character, Hercule Poirot. At the
beginning of the book, Poirot is out to eat in London. Hercule notices a couple much in love,
Jacqueline de Bellefort and Simon Doyle. Jacqueline does not come from a very wealthy family.
The day after the couple was seen out on a date, Jacqueline takes Simon to meet her friend Linnet
Ridgeway, hoping that she will give Simon a job. Once after they had met, Simon left Jacquelin to
marry Linnet.
Poirot next sees Simon and his new wife while he himself is on holiday. The couple were on their
honeymoon in Egypt. While at a hotel in Cairo, Hercule sees the Doyles and Jacqueline meeting at
the hotel. After the couple s conversation with Jacqueline, Linnet comes to Poirot and and tells
him that Jacqueline has been stalking them ever since the wedding. Poirot tells Linnet that there is
nothing he can legally do to stop her. He, however, does try to talk with Jacqueline in private and
ask her to stop her evil ways. Jacqueline tells Poirot that she wants to kill Linnet. She then pulls out
a small pistol and show it to him.
The Doyle s try to elude Jacqueline s stalking by staying a longer time on their honeymoon. They
decide to go on a cruise on the Nile River along with Poirot. To the newlyweds dismay, Jacqueline
turns up on the same boat as the couple. Poirot also sees someone on the boat, an

Glucose And Lactase Lab Report
Analysis It is concluded that there was a presence of glucose when lactase was added to the
lactose+maltose but this was not seen in lactose. Accordingly, lactose was broken down into
glucose and galactose in the existence of the enzyme lactase. In addition to that, because one
maltose disaccharide is two monosaccharides, it was concluded to be positive for the benedict s
solution. Due to this, maltose should always be positive. A yellow color was seen in the solution
during the experiment. The control group for this experiment was the lactose solution which
showed a negative test and, therefore, remained in its original blue color as there was no lactase to
catalyze the chemical reaction in order for the bonds to break. Lastly, both the lactose and maltose
solution with lactase had a positive result of glucoseas the benedict s solution turned a yellowish
green color.
Discussion The main purpose of the lab was to investigate the effects of lactase two sugars,
lactose and maltose. It was concluded that adding lactase to lactose will cause it to break down
into its two components and this was indicated by adding benedict s solution. In the presence of
glucose, benedict s solution causes the color to change to a red yellow solution, which is what was
observed.

When there is a lack of lactase in the small intestines, it results in lactose intolerance which means
the body cannot fully break down lactose. Most cases of lactose intolerance occur later in life
when activity of lactate gradually decreases causing less lactase to bind to active sites, however, in
rare cases some babies may be born without the lactase enzyme. This intolerance caused by the lack
of lactase leads to the lactose being passed onto the color, where it is fermented by the bacteria
present and causes gas, diarrhea and bloating and can lead to sever

Predominantly White Institutions vs Historically Black...
Predominately White Institutions and the Reasons they are Worth the Time and Money
It was only a year ago when I was faced with making a very important decision that would affect
me for the rest of my life. It was time for me to choose an institution of higher learning to continue
my studies that would eventually lead me to my career. My decision wasn t simply which university
or college to choose, but as a young black student, whether to choose a Historically Black College
or University (HBCU) or a Predominately White Institution (PWI). This would take me on an
insightful journey and I would make my decision after discussing the pros and cons of both
institutions and through interactions with students, faculty and staff. Before too long ... Show more

In this particular study conducted on state funding per student in North Carolina, the funding of
UNC Chapel Hill (PWI), North Carolina A T (HBCU), and North Carolina Central University
(HBCU) were reviewed. The findings showed that UNC budgeted $27,826, A T $10,400 and
NCCU $13,378 per student. The larger size of PWIs means that more money is available for
student programs and activities. PWIs provide opportunities in a more mainstream environment
and thus more realistically mirror the real world. After four years of study at a PWI, students have
the confidence and are prepared to enter the real world as contributing members. This may be a
very broad and generalized claim, but there is documented evidence to back it up. Using black
female students as an example, journal article (what journal article???) stated the benefits for this
group. It read, These articulate, interpersonally adept women gained more from the academic
experience on White campuses (Allen, W.R.). Not every African Americanthat enters a PWI will be
able to succeed. Although the campus itself may be conducive to their success based on the many
advantages existing there, other challenges may interfere with that success. Socially, these students
may face difficulties as they strive to fit in and belong: Students who successfully adapt, establish

Comparison Of Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire
I agree with that quote because I believe that literature is much like art in the sense that you can
look at what someone has made and figure out how they think. Without words we as a species
would never have made it half as far as we have in such the relatively small time that we have
been on this earth. It is truly incredible how we are able process what is right from wrong in a
split second, feel a whole plethora of emotions all at once, and even solve tasks that are
presented to us on a daily basis. All because we have evolved over so many generations with the
help of words to communicate with other members of our species, and that is how literature truly
allows us to see through the eyes of another and in a way, even see their thought process and how
truly unique we all are. I believe what makes us human is our creativity and ingenuity as a species
and those are the major traits that set us apart as both a species and as individuals.
My book is Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, it is the fourth book in the series but it is my
favorite of the seven. The book follows the perspective of Harry as he must compete against three
other wizards to win the Triwizard Tournament. Throughout the book Harry faces a series of
obstacles that he must overcome, the first problem he faces is he must find out who put his name
into the Goblet of Fire, this causes Harry to then face the internal conflict that is the feeling that
someone is out to get him. Towards the end it is revealed

Taylorism, Scientific Management, Is a Theory of...
Introduction
Taylorism, additionally known as Scientific Management, is a theory of management methodology
that emphasizes on maximising work efficiency. Developed and named after an American industrial
engineer, Frederick Winslow Taylor. Through thorough use of a stopwatch and a clipboard, Taylor
put all his research and outcomes into a book called the Principles of Scientific Management, which
was later published in 1911. In the monograph Taylor s notion was to mend the economical
proficiency, principally in the labouring output. He believed that there were great losses, when the
whole country is suffering through inefficiency in almost of all of our daily acts (Taylor 1911) and

Helping an organisation to handle the most efficient use of its properties and accomplish set targets
is the prime job of a management. The management of an establishment will consist of an
operational structure which will clearly underline the different ranks of individuals, groups and
departments. While the preliminary procedure of Scientific Management in dealing with matters of
work efficiency and productivity is related back to the late 19th century and early 20th century in
the history of management theory, the equivalent of managerial necessities are evident in the
industry today and the application of Scientific Management s fundamental principles can be
exercised to successfully benefit both efficiency and productivity in a 21st century organisation.
Benefits
The number one reason as to why Scientific Management is still essential for any form of
organisations in the current century lies in its effectiveness. The theory behind aims to establish
amended alternative approaches to productions and inefficiency carried out during manufacturing
activities. At present times, a modernised version of Scientific Management will be applied to
businesses, enclosing all of the key principles. And when it is utilised, the performance is carried
out systematically in synchronisation with scheduled plans. Employee s working hours have been

Technology Assistive Can Improve And Advance Young...
The purpose of this study is to show that technology assistive can improve and advance young
children with or without special needs. Technology has advance through the years and all children
are more interest in learning skills with technology devices. My action research project has four
children the majority are two to nine year of age that can benefit for technologies in tasks at school
and home with and without special needs. The technologies assist can be more creativity,
innovation, communication, collaboration, research, and information fluency with learningand
teaching young children that allow them to take focus and listening to the tasks. It can prove for
the great beneficial in achieving and giving knowledge of their future goals. Problem Interest
The reason for the observation and interest in this action research project are to help the young
children in my families and other children. They are not staying focus and listening with old school
learning but they do focus and think with new age through technology. Technologies make all
children feel equally and have the same opportunity in learning. I have observation that children
have technologies to learn and teach them at home so we need to make technologies available at
school to collaboration together on same materials. Technologies can cover a list of products and
applications for cellphone to ipad, face to face to face time and media, book to internet, portifolio

The Last Of The Mohicans Response
Critical Response Paper
Written in 1826 and directed in 1915 respectively, The Last of the Mohicans by James Fenimore
Cooper and The Birth of a Nation by D.W. Griffith were foundational in influencing both the
American novel and film industry. Consequently, they are also two of the most controversial texts
in American history as they epitomize racism and the desire for an all white society. Cooper s
vision of an emerging American national character/identity is similar to Griffith s obvious wish
for a white supremacist paradise in the sense that both men created world s in which whiteness is
regarded as ideal and superlative, while other races are perceived as savage and inferior.

respectable and decent, while other races are seen as brutal and uncivilized. This is demonstrated
through Griffith s showing of white and black sides wherein the white side is clearly shown to be
more superior to the black side; and through Cooper s method of portraying anyone who does not
submit, in some way, to white European culture, as savage. It is also demonstrated through both
authors fear of miscegenation, and the death of any characters that may succumb to it. Moreover,
both authors created heroes whose whiteness is key to their

The Key Episodes That Established Leadership Among Israel
The key episodes that established leadership among Israel are the accounts of their tribulations
while in the wilderness and God s responses. Starting in Number Chapter 11 the Israelites are
beginning to complain about their misfortunes. It was not clear to scholars whether the Israelites
were complaining to Mosesor to God. Either way God herd their complaints and took it as if they
were toward him. In return to their complaints God burned against them . Then the fire of the
Lord burned against them. And consumed some outlying parts of the camp . Mosses then asked
God to cease the fire in prayer and God did. But the people cried out to Moses; and Moses prayed
to the Lord, and the fire abated .
Following the Israelites them complained again about not having the same food they once did
when they were in Egypt. The rabble among them had a strong craving; and the Israelites also
wept again, and said, If only we had some meat to eat! Then they reminisced about when they
were in Egypt and the variety of foods they had available. The manna was not sufficient for them.
The Lord then sent in great number quail to teach them a lesson. They had more meat not then
what they had asked for. The lesson was about greed. The Israelites already had food, they were
not going hungry. Instead of being grateful they chose to complain and that is why God sent the
great numbers of quail. But while the meat was still between their teeth, before it was consumed,
the anger of the Lord was

named Lyddie is 15 years old and went to Lowell Mills to work. While she works she has to
make a decision weather to sign a petition. The petition says that they need some improvements
to the Mill. I feel that Lyddie should sign the petition because people are getting hurt and she
should slow down and take a break every once and awhile and now she is working 4 looms then
she is working constantly. She also, needs more money for the debt and for school. Lyddie needs
the money for school, the debt, and her family. When Lyddie was in the factory she said, She
needed the money. She had to have the money. She needs the money for the debt and she wants
to keep the farm and she needs money for that. Lyddie was in the boarding house when she said,
She must earn all the money to pay off what they owed,so she could gather her family together
back on the farm while she still had family left to gather. She wants to gather her family and get
them back. Lyddie was in the factory when she said, The money was growing again. She had
nearly caught up with the wages lost by her illness... She had so far earned enough money to pay
off her illness and get back on track. This shows that she needs money because she wants to pay off

Reflection On Taboos
For this sequence, our focus was on taboos. This comes out a little in Taylors New Persona and
was my main focus in Inked . I think by including these pieces of work it helps talk about the
taboos in society and it helps shed some light on the untold truths. The second assignment was my
story told through different lenses; this helped me try and expand on my writingstyle and adapt to
writing in a college setting. For my Taylor Swiftassignment, I took very detailed notes on the
music video to try and help me get a good idea of exactly what was going on. I then decided to
have my main focus on the dark spots on Taylor Swifts career. I decided to focus on these
because most of the music video focused in on her past and how it has changed her to be a new
person. In the video, there was also reference to taboos which I explained in my writing. I was
very confident on this paper and decided not to revise for that reason.
In my second assignment, I wanted to try out as many different writing styles as I could. My goal
for my first story, My Voice , reflected my true writing style. I wanted to make it somewhat
humorous and I feel like I achieved this. Compared to this, it was different when writing the
School of Horror story. I had to get into a different mindset when writing it and I feel like I
accomplished it very well. The story about my grandparents I used more simplistic language and I
accomplished this by using words like I fell or I was nervous . The

The Cathedral of Saint Francis de Sales
From St. Peter s Basilica in Vatican City to the Cathedral of Notre Dame in France, architects
have designed some of the most beautiful Churches in the world. Expressing every little detail and
nuance, they have relentlessly taken the time to develop these remarkable centers of worship.
However, tourists of these Churches seem to fail to go behind the scenes and appreciate all the
decision making and planning used to create these magnificent wonders. Thus, we the architects
have put together this detailed synopsis to allow worshipers to appreciate every aspect and feature
of The Cathedral of Saint Francis de Sales.

Baptism will make them one of the men that Catholicism has caught, or rather, has taught. The
confessionals, also known as reconciliation rooms, are areas where one can perform the
Sacrament of Penance, also known as confession. These are located in the back of the Cathedral
so that the confessor may confess their sins in a secluded room where they feel private and
comfortable. A cry room is located in the back of the Cathedral. It is for families that have newly
born babies. If the parents were to bring their babies to Cathedral they would most likely cry
during the Mass, and it will interrupt the Mass. Therefore, the cry room is for families who still
want to go to church but do not want to interrupt the Holy mass. The cry room has speakers in it
that are connected to the priest s microphone so that those inside the room will be able to follow
and hear the Mass.
The Adoration Chapel is a term that is broadly used to designate the practically uninterrupted
adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. The Adoration Chapel contains the Eucharist, which is in a
special holder called the monstrance. Parishioners of the Cathedral may come to pray and worship
Jesus continually throughout the day and at night. As mentioned earlier, the Adoration Chapel is
one of the annexes in the Cathedral. (Becchio, Bruno, and Schade 25) The Eucharist is the prime
celebration that brings Catholics together. Thus, it is vital that they feel like a part

Obesity Epidemic On The Rise And Something Must Be Done Essay
Obesity continues to be a problem in the United States. The obesity epidemic on the rise and
something must be done to solve this issue. About seventeen percent of children and adolescents
about 12.5 million are obese (Diet). An adult with a BMI (body mass index) higher than 30% is
considered to be obese (Obesity). There isn t a direct focus on obesity, because people don t think it
s an important issue. To ensure a better future, solution is needed now. The solution to ending the
obesity epidemic by encouraging a healthier lifestyle on children at young ages, improving nutrition
at schools and restaurants, as well as providing more time and space for citizens to get physically
active.
The best way to start a change with obesity in America is to begin with encouraging a healthy
lifestyle for the younger generation. The United States has one of the largest percentiles of
overweight/obese children in the world. The public clearly knows this, but is failing to take
action. The parents are responsible for the future of their kids; they should take action early in
securing a healthy future for them. This can be done requiring all students in school to be part
of some sort of sport in school or outside; like a recreational league. It s up to the parents to take
responsibility for this and make sure their kids are active in sports. Most athletes started at a
young age, kids learn most at an early age and tend to carry it on for the rest of their life. Not only

Comic Relief And Gravediggers In Hamlet
Hamlet is classified as a Shakespearian tragedy, even so, a handful of comedic scenes play
powerful roles in the plotline of the play. Comic relief serves a more significant thematic purpose
than to merely mitigate apprehension. While the gravediggers in Hamlet depict humorous
characters in Act V. scene I, repartee is interwoven with some surprisingly ironic and profound
insights. For instance, their discussion regarding Ophelia advances a chief theme in the play: the
controversy around moral legitimacy of suicide subservient to theological law. By granting this
hefty topic a darkly comic rendition, Shakespeare creates a grotesque satire of Hamlets To be, or not
to be soliloquy (III.i), suggesting the subsidence of the remaining ethics in... Show more content on

These two gravediggers are the first instances of common people in the play they emerge in
blatant juxtaposition with the other characters, all of royal/noble status, and thus can delineate an
unprecedented point of view. The second gravedigger offers the duplicity of the royalty/nobility
through the case of Ophelia s suicide: If this had not been a gentlewoman, she should have been
buried out o Christian burial (p. 23 25). In other words, the upper class, while proclaiming faith in
Christianity, absolves sins perpetrated by nobles, yet still holds the common people accountable
for their sins. The upper class can essentially evade eternal damnation because they are of royal
lineage. Here, the gravediggers converse about Ophelia having a Christian burial despite the fact
that many believe she killed herself even the priest suspects she had committed suicide. On the
contrary, if she was a commoner she would have not acquired the privilege of a Christian burial.

Uxt Task 1 Essay
I chose to study and analyze J.M.W. Turner s Slave Ship for this project and found it to be very
interesting. Immediately while looking at the piece you get a strong sense of emotion and
drama that is being portrayed. There is a lot of depth and warmth in the colors that are used and
wide swift brush strokes to create the images. The first image that caught my eye was of waves
crashing on the left side of the painting. The white tips of the waves are very noticeable against
the softer shades of the ocean. Behind the waves is a ship which is the next part of the painting
that drew my attention. The ship seems to be caught in the rough waves of the sea and barely able
to keep afloat. There is a glimmer of light from the sun peeking through... Show more content on

Turner it is a lot clearer as to why he depicted such an emotional and vivid work of art in Slave Ship
. Turner was inspired to paint this piece after reading The History and Abolition of the Slave
Trade by Thomas Clarkson. In 1781, the captain of the slave ship Zong had ordered 133 slaves to
be thrown overboard so that insurance payments could be collected. This event probably inspired
Turner to create this artwork. Turner became an advocate for abolishing slaveryaround the world
and even exhibited this painting during an anti slavery conference (History in an Hour).
Common themes that were seen in the Romantic era, which spanned from the end of the eighteenth
century to the beginning of the nineteenth century, were naturalism, Gothicism, emotionalism, and
exoticism. Salve Ship definitely portrays some, if not all, of these themes. The most obvious used
theme would be emotion. Turner is clearly trying to get an emotional response out of his
audience with such a dark and dramatic subject matter in this piece or art. It would be very hard
not to have high emotions when looking at it. Work of art from the Romantic time period shares
many similarities with work that is seen in the modern world and today s audience can relate
greatly to art from that time. There is a strong sense of emotion and erotic response in art in the
modern age and people react strongly to that. Art from romanticism brings out the same emotion
and response.

A Wonderful Monograph By Melissa Archer
Introduction
This is a wonderful monograph by Melissa Archer with a comprehensive study of the theme of
worship in the Apocalypse . It illustrates various aspects of worship and the role of worship in the
Apocalypse. The language of the book and different approaches to the theme are appreciated,
because those are simple and clear to understand the theme.
Summary of the book
The context of the book is well organized. Archer divides her text into five chapters, and every
chapter has an introduction and a summery, which is really helpful to read and get the message at
the first glance.
Chapter one is a survey of modern scholarly literature related to the theme of worship in the
Apocalypse. It is divides into four subtopics; A) The theme of worship as a whole, B) The hymns
in the Apocalypse, C) Revelation 4 5, D) Additional worship scenes.
Chapter two is focused on the methodology for the study engaging North American Pentecostalism
and Pentecostal hermeneutics. In this chapter she introduces the term Wirkungsgeschichte ; how to
discover the worship in the Apocalypse.
Chapter three is a careful reading of the early Pentecostal periodical materials. She explains how
the worship practices of early Pentecostals using both the Wesleyan Holiness and the Finished Work
traditions during the time period of 1906 1916.
Chapter four is focused on a sustained narrative reading of the Apocalypse with the theme of

least three different types of stress routine stress (everyday stress), sudden stress brought about by a
sudden negative change, and traumatic stress which can happen when you re seriously ill. Stress is
the body s normal reaction to events whether negative or positive.

Dream Deferral And Closure In The Women Of Brewster Place
Unfulfilled Dreams and Deferring Closure
In her critical essay, Dream, Deferral and Closure in The Women of Brewster Place Jill Matus
writes about the theme of unfulfilled dreams as it is portrayed in Gloria Naylor s The Women of
Brewster Place. Matus s main argument about this theme can be summarized as her belief that
Naylor uses the dream described at the end of the novel as an out an end that allows her to not
commit to one conclusion or other; a deferral of closure, if you will. A reader might ask what the
purpose of such a noncommittal ending is as it relates to the novel as a whole. Matus offers some
answers to this question by claiming that the text and, more symbolically, the lives of the
characters and setting of the novel are prolonged by the deferred ending because of the
presentation of dream and in turn the dream affirms and perpetuates the life of the street and
characters. In other words, Matus argument could be interpreted as the belief that the dream as it
is presented in the end of the novel leaves a sense of hope for an otherwise decaying setting and
lives.
Personally, I agree with Matus s conclusions about how the ending works for the novel even
though it is not really an ending at all. I was convinced of this argument based on how she uses
Langston Hughes s poem Harlem about deferred dreams to illustrate how the end of the novel is
Naylor s way of reimagining the same message of the poem. In the poem, Hughes writes about
the fate of dreams that are deferred or unfulfilled. He writes that these dreams dry up like raisins
in the sun, fester like sores, stink like rotten meat, crust over like a syrupy sweet. Matus writes that
she is interested in looking at the way in which Naylor rethinks the poem in her novel s attention to
dreams and desires and deferral, and then to consider the implications of her vision in terms of the
novel s sensitivity to history and social context (50). The unfulfillment of dreams and desires are
two major recurring themes in the novel and what makes the ending of the novel so interesting is
that it is a narrative illustration of these themes. The unassuming reader is actually left unfulfilled
because the seeming conclusion to the novel is taken away

Company Overview Of Coca Cola
Company Overview Are you a Coca Cola or Pepsi person? Well I personally prefer Coca Cola. In
1886 pharmacist Dr. John S. Pemberton founded Coca Cola. He desired to create a delicious soft
drink, so he conjured up a flavored syrup that might fill his desire. Pemberton then mixed the
syrup with carbonated water to get a final product ready for sampling. The people who sampled
his creation said that it was excellent. Frank M. Robinson is recognized for giving Pemberton s
beverage the name of Coca Cola and giving the beverage its trademark. Coca Cola then received the
nickname Coke for short. After inventing what has become the number one selling drink,
Pemberton sold his company to numerous parties, mainly including businessmen from... Show more

running and growing is the constant, strategic marketing skills needed to keep any successful
company at the top. Overview of Major Product Coca Cola is the cool fizzy drink on a hot day
many people long for. It is one of the top products of this ever changing world. I chose Coca Cola
because it is a gigantic, world renowned product. Coca Cola also has another major competitor,
Pepsi. I thought it would be very interesting to see how Coca Cola tries to complete with Pepsi. Our
customers include hypermarkets, supermarkets, discounters, kiosks, petrol stations, cinemas,
leisure parks, hotels, restaurants and cafГ©s, among others. The customers are a core value of
Coca Cola. Coca Cola tries their best to work together with customers to be the customer s first
choice ( Customers, n.d.). To be the customer s first choice, Coca Cola not only has to worry about
their taste. Coca Cola must focus on availability, affordability, acceptability, activation, and attitude.
Being a great company with a great product goes far beyond just the product. I think that the most
important attributes that Coca Cola focuses on outside of the product itself would be availability,
affordability, and attitude. Customers today want something easy to access, they want to work
smarter, not harder. If prices are unreasonable, that is an automatic turn

How does Make A Wish help those in need? Make A Wish is one of the most well known
charities in the world for giving dying children one last wish and making it come true for them. I
remember in middle school one of my friend s brothers had cancer and so his parents reached out
to Make A Wishto try and give their son a happy memory that he could cherish for the rest of his

These kids who knew they were going to die were given hope, hope that could hopefully allow
them to become healthier. It might seem stupid or gimmicky to older people but to these kids it s
all they got in life. Make A Wish grew so rapidly because of this, that they were making tens of
thousands of wishes come true each year.
Now that we have covered the full history of Make A Wish let s move on to general facts of
Make A Wish. To be eligible you must be referred by someone treating the child, a parent or legal
guardian, or the children themselves if they are of age. The average cost of granting a wish is
$10,130. Make A Wish pays for the full experience including costs of travel because they believe
that the parents have enough financial worries. The way Make A Wish makes money for all of
this is from mainly donations and foundation grants. This means that normal every day citizens
are funding these wishes and could be giving a dying kid their last wish which I think is special.
There have been numerous celebrities and stars that participate in Make A Wish. John cena holds
the record for Make A Wish at over 500 wishes. Justin Bieber has participated in over 200 wishes
and numerous celebrities have done multiple wishes. This is all voluntary so none of these
celebrities are forced to do it.

Military Bases Analysis
I believe the primary purpose of having military bases in different countries such as colombia or
afghanistan is so that the United States will be able to respond to events that could arise but
would take longer to respond to from the United States itself.I think they mainly focus on a more
quick response time but they do also contribute to peace and stability by being that close to a
certain place. I think the bases are less important in the modern day since we have missiles capable
of traveling miles and the ability to communicate around the world in an instant. I think the amount
of bases should be cut down but be more equipped with more people and be evenly spread out
between countries to raise potential response times to certain events.... Show more content on

Conflict against North Korea may also rise although I don t think so since terrorism isn t a tactic
they could use being isolated and the United States would use Massive Retaliation if that would
happen. Army should always have the most budget since it s the most common form of conflict
at least for now. It was 1940 1970 I would oppose family to serve even though though that was
the most needed time of people but nowadays conflict is a lot lower than it was and I think it
would be fine for someone to serve. As far as military i would say that they do share my views but
the political impact on the military, I would say that they don t. It s beginning to get less patriotic
to serve the Military just because of the ending of the Cold Warin 1990 and the decline of terrorism
but that s not to say that serving the United States does bring a certain pride for your country.
Patriotism for me means that you are willing to give up your time and custom to serve a country
that you really believe in. unfortunately patriotism is decreasing i feel like since events such as the
9/11 have been more and more forgotten. We shouldn t rely on specific regions of the country to
supply troops because that would be unfair but of course there will be less volunteering troops

The Importance Of Public Human Resource Management
Public Human Resources Management operations include four fundamental functions that reflect
the activities needed to manage HR. those functions are symbolized by the acronym PADS
(planning, acquisition, development, and sanction) which is used in public, private, and non profit
organizations. Among with those fundamental functions, HR management is strongly influenced
by the four traditional values linked to the four traditional public systems (political responsiveness
/representation patronage/spoils system, efficiency civil service, employee rights civil service
merit, and social equity affirmative action). Though those functions, values, and systems, HR
management reflects the interactions between political influence and public agencies as well as
public organization s level of responsiveness to the citizens needs through effective and efficient
delivery of goods and services. The structure of Little Elm HR department is based on those
concepts and follows the same PADS functions: planning procedures on HR activities based on the
available budget and political influence; acquiring new employees through internet and their own
website applications; development (increasing the employees willingness to perform well) by
training employees on their duties; and finally the sanctioning of employees whom does not fit on
their atmosphere of serving the public. The HR director, Mrs. Deidre Hale proudly presented their
four core values: customer service, integrity, efficiency,

The first of his great decision was to give this movie a realistic atmosphere and he did this by
abandon[ing] CGI in favor of models and practical effects, and green screens in favor of actual
sets and physical locations. I wanted to feel that thing I d felt when I was a kid watching this
movie, which was that this was actually happening. . . . (Grossman 62 63). This was a well
thought out decision that not only makes it real, but also helps to blend the original three Star

he set the scene 30 years in the future. This allows him to change little things however he wants

them on . . . which did not exist in the original episodes of Star Wars (Grossman 58). He also
modernized the droids, X Wings, Tie Fighters, and hierarchy through chrome plated
Stormtroopers. Another major attribute he had at his disposal was . . . key members of the

Identity Formation In Invisible Man And The Unbearable...
Forming identity is a life long endeavor for most people. In childhood, the act is involved mostly
with family and school friends. As a person matures to adulthood, more external factors influence
identities such as social status and position, education, employment and love relationships. In Ralph
Ellison s Invisible Man and Milan Kundera s The Unbearable Lightness of Being, the reader will
find that the two most influential aspects of identityformation are societal definitions of a persons
race and how one defines themselves through intimate love relationships. A person engaged in
identity formation under either of these circumstances could result in either a positive experience
that builds confidence, self esteem, and self love, or it can completely destroy the person s psyche
or permanently separate her or him... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Invisible Man is defined by his race with the end result being that he is a fragmented human
affiliated with no one; he in effect becomes invisible to himself as he has been to every other
character he engages with in the book. Tereza, the wife of Tomas, ends up solidifying herself
apart from her husband after she undergoes a breakdown that nearly drives her to suicide. A
person race is one of the first ways that people learn who they are and where they fit into society.
Obviously in America, we have an issue with race, so it is not surprising that an African
American would have difficulty developing a sense of self that is whole and inclusive of what it
means to be an American. Ellison s text tells the story of a young black man who is essentially a
pawn for powerful people. He is first manipulated into a physical fight with young black youth in
order to win a scholarship to college. That he wins is supposed to add characteristics of strength
and bravery to his personality

Apple is a technology company that is forever changing. From the iPod to the iTouch/iPhone to the
Mac, Apple s rapid growth as a technology superpower could not have been possible without an
intricate information system. The innovation of Apple over the years has seen unprecedented
advances in the way we look at technology. This is important to Apple because they have expanded

An example of this would be the Apple Pay technology. Apple Pay is a mobile payments service
and digital wallet application that utilizes Near Field Communication (NFC) to initiate secure
payment transactions between contactless payment terminals and devices like the iPhone 6,
iPhone 6 Plus and Apple Watch (Webopedia). Apple Pay allows owners of Apple devices the
opportunity to add multiple credit or debit cards onto that device and instantly pay at a location
by simply placing their device over the scanner. This technology could be implemented into
Howard University s Bison One Card by adding Dining Dollars or Bison Bucks into the
application software, thus eliminating the need to always swipe your card at various locations
around campus. This would also eliminate the struggle some students encounter of not being able
to eat or swipe into the cafГ© because they have lost or misplaced their card. The biggest
problem Howard University faces with implementing this new technology is the substantial cost.
Blue Pay breaks down the Apple Pay implementation costs with prices of the NFC terminals in
range from $300 to $500, excluding the cost of additional software upgrades if needed. Depending
on which locations, if not all, across campus will support this technology, this cost will surely add
up. Merchants must also weigh in the cost of employee training. Employees must understand how
to properly use NFC contactless readers to process payments. The training should also include
refunds, chargebacks, and cancellations. This cost can vary, depending on the size of the staff.
Blue Pay ultimately estimates the total cost ranging anywhere from $1000 to $2000 per unit after
factoring in hardware, software and wages (Blue

Essay on The Real Hero of Titus Andronicus
The Real Hero of Titus Andronicus
I found Rome a city of bricks and left it a city of marble Augustus Caesar (63 BC 14 AD)
In his essay, Titus Andronicus and the Mythos of Shakespeare s Rome, Robert Miola uncovers and
explores the myths Shakespeare uses as bedrock for the background and plot of his first Roman
tragedy, Titus Andronicus. Most notably, Miola discusses two Ovidian myths, The Rape of
Philomela and The World s Four Ages. The Rape provides Shakespeare with his basic characters
and the events involving Lavinia, his Philomela, while Ovid s fourth age of iron describes
Shakespeare s physical Rome, a quintessentially iron city, writes Miola, a military establishment
protected by walls and filled with sword carrying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rather than this being a singular interpretation, I think my reading directly supports the
heterogeneity of the city s... character of which Miola speaks.
All the persons Shakespeare depicts in Titus are two dimensional, either good or bad. The dividing
line falls between those who support Titus, the tragic warrior hero, and those on the side of Tamora,
the evil Queen empress. The former are noble and selfless, demonstrating roman pietas, while
the latter are ignoble and selfish. In Jack E. Reese s essay, The Formalization of Horror in Titus
Andronicus, he makes the point that Tamora and her sons allegorical dressing up as Revenge,
Murder, and Rapine can be viewed as a symbol of the characterization of the entire work (Horror
79). In this scene, they are as they are, the symbol is exactly the same as the person. The only
two characters who might be said to escape the dichotomy are Titus and Aaron the Moor. In
Rome, Titus sacrifices both his son and his daughter, says Miola, on the alter of his own personal
honor (Family 67). It is fair to say that personal honor is his concern in killing his offspring, for
Mutius represents shameful filial disobedience (or mutiny) and Lavinia represents his inability to
protect her and is a reminder of a shameful act done not only to her, but to her whole Andronici
family too. It

Comparing Cops And The Literary Versions Of The Maltese...
Cops and Chiaroscuro In the film and the literary versions of The Maltese Falcon, cops are
portrayed differently because of the distinct tools available to each media. The written
descriptions of the novel give people on the police force a personality, so that they are
humanized. On the other side, the film creates a cynical depiction of cops, where policemen are
less complex humans than the criminals of the world, so this portrayal makes the film s world
appears grimmer than the literary world. In lieu of written description, the lighting of Huston s The
Maltese Falcon (1941) causes the policemen to lack some of the depth that they had in Hammett s
novel of The Maltese Falcon (1929) because the lighting creates fewer contrasting shadows... Show

In figure 2, Polhaus and Dundy wear nearly identical outfits, they have the same grim
expressions, and they have extremely similar lighting on their faces, clothes, and hands. In
figure 3, they both appear menacing with the same dark lighting and this lighting reinforces the
idea that Spade is more trustworthy than the cops. Figures 2 and 3 illustrate how the individuals
in the police force have been blurred, so that they are nearly the same. It has already been
established that the lack of contrast in shadows on the faces of the cops makes them less
complex characters, and since all the cops are similar, it means nearly all are superficial in a
way, and that Spade is more human than all of them because he is in charge of his own actions
and morals. The cops in the film have been transformed from characters into plot devices and
obstacles for Spade to get around. This de characterization of the police forces people to relate to
criminals and morally ambiguous private investigators like Spade. The world of the film is
bleaker than the world of the novel because cops, who are meant to protect and serve others, have
been slightly discredited. Thus, the institutions in the filmic world are seen as ineffective and
unstable, and the audience can only relate to people like Spade who work outside the

In man s attempt to fulfill this need we find that we are encroaching on lands used for diverse

This loss of ecosystems equates to the loss of animal species and also plant species. This is

The Acts of the Apostles is the name given to the second part of a two volume work traditionally
identified as having been written by Luke, a companion of the Apostle Paul. Luke presumably a
Gentile Christian, helps his communities to know how to remain faithful to tradition while
reinterpreting it for their new circumstances. In this pericope of Acts 2:41 47, the portrait of a
group of believers who have a community spirit and is filled with the Holy Spirit, who becomes the
church is depicted. In verse forty one, at the annual feast of Pentecost, as a result of the sermon

One of the wonders and signs Jesus said he would show was manifested in the people being able
to hear one another in their own native tongue. As Peter spoke to them, he pointed out that Jesus
was sitting at the right hand of God. And God the Father had filled Jesus with the Holy Ghost

They were also amazed and marveled and were glad about the national racial barrier being

This ongoing series of events is now known as KENTtalks, which strategically addresses key topics
to promote university wide civil discourse. Taking part in and advocating for intercultural and cross
cultural events, such as KENTtalks, played an important role in my position as a student leader.
Creating opportunities for constructive dialogue and cultural understanding for sensitive topics and
issues is an essential component towards building a campus climate that encourages mutual respect
and collaborative relationships. This mutual respect and collaboration between students helps to
promote and advocate for social justice, and also in the personal and academic growth necessary in

Public Administration Through Different Forms Of Management
The major theme prevalent throughout this week s readings is a detailed look at the study of public
administration through different forms of management.
The two main forms of management discussed in the passages by Shafritz Hyde (2012) and Chester
Barnard (1968) are scientific management and human relations school of management. The theory
of scientific management, first introduced by Frederick W. Taylor (1912, pp. 37 39) proposes
that the driving force behind a man s work is receiving a monetary reward. On the other hand the
theory of human relations, as suggested by Mary Parker Follet (1926, pp. 58 65) and later
validated by the Hawthorne experiments conducted in the 1930s (Shafritz and Hyde, 2012) propose
that the driving force ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He (Barnard, 1968, pp. 65 81, 114 123, 186 199, 215 234) emphasized on the point that there was a
mutually dependent relationship between a formal and informal organization, and in order to
achieve a successful running organization (whether formal or informal) the executive/superior
should ensure that both the needs of the organization as well as the needs of the employee are met
equally.
William Willoughby (1918, pp. 40 43), did prominent work in the field of public administration.
One of his most prominent work is on budgetary reform. Willoughby shared a similar school of
thought as Frederick Taylor, based on the principles of scientific management. Both Willoughby and
Taylor, through their own school of thoughts concluded on the same point that the driving force
behind management/administrative/individual ultimately is monetary/financial. Years later came
along the Luther Gulick, with the Theory of Organization (1937, pp. 81 89), who again shared
Frederick Taylor s ideology of taking a scientific approach to management. Gulick (1937, pp. 81 89)
was famously known for his mnemonic on the seven major functions of management: planning,
organizing, staffing, directing, coordinating, reporting and budgeting.
Weber s work on bureaucracy (1922, pp. 44 49) is considered the basis for the subject. Weber s
main idea of organizations being

The Age Of African American Literature
Wheatley was the first African American to have her work published and is known as the
mother of African American literature. Wheatley was brought into slavery and she was very
fortunate to have masters that allowed her to learn to read and write. In the 18th century, it was
very rare to find an African American who was educated and with Whitley being a female it was
even more surprising. Her vernacular was very broad and she was not timid about letting her
voice be heard. In fact, you can imagine the type of women she was by reading His Excellency
General Washington. Whitley s poems mostly consist of themes that revolved around
Christianity, slavery and abstract ideas which were based on her personal beliefs, experiences,
and ideas. The belief that the power of poetry is immeasurable was her inspiration while writing.
After reading a few poems by Whitley I realized her work is still relevant and by break down
each piece of work I can find inspiration. Throughout this paper I am going to analyze Wheatley
works and also find was to see how her work relates to modern times. The poem To S.M., a
Young African Painter on Seeing His Work is one Wheatley less popular pieces of work even
though it contain a very inspiring message. The way she used detailed and descriptive words in
such an angelic ways was breath taking. Upon viewing the artist s work, Wheatley was inspired and
therefore wrote a poem about what she saw. The amount of enlightenment that she absorbed is

Notice To Defendant Summary
Johnson further contends that the circuit court abused its discretion by failing to exclude the
Notice to Defendant and the OPD Form because the documents probative value was substantially
outweighed by the danger of unfair prejudice. Specifically, Johnson asserts that the documents
should have been excluded because they indicate that he had a pending criminal case, and that they
indicate that he is indigent. The State, for its part, asserts that the documents were critical to
establish that the contraband at issue here belonged to Johnson, and that any prejudice may have
suffered did not substantially outweigh the evidence s probative value. We agree with the State.
Although a judge has no discretion to admit irrelevant evidence, a judge does have considerable
discretion to exclude evidence if its probative value is substantially outweighed by the danger of
unfair prejudice, confusion of the issues, or misleading the jury, or by considerations of undue delay,
waste of time, or needless presentation of cumulative evidence. Md. Rule 5 403. Decisions in this
realm are left to the sound discretion of the trial judge and will be reversed only upon a clear

Without the admission of the documents to give context to how the contraband was discovered,
there are at least four individuals who might reasonably have possessed the contraband. To be sure,
the parties contest the persuasive value of these documents vigorously. The State, maintains that the
contraband was found in the trunk of a vehicle with multiple occupants and individuals to whom the
vehicle was registered was not among the occupants. Whereas Johnson maintains that the
documents are unreliable. Regardless of their persuasive value, the documents found with the
vehicle were perhaps the only mechanisms to distinguish the possessor of the contraband from the
numerous others who had access to the

Honor In The Odysseus
In the Disney movie Mulan, a young heroine, Mulan, disguises herself as a man to fight for her
country and restore honor to her family. She, similar to Odysseus, must save her country from
invaders, The Huns for Mulan and the suitors for Odysseus. Both protagonists face many trials
that test their loyalty and honor. And both prevail, becoming great, respected leaders of their
people. Honor as well as loyalty are significant characteristics of a respected person. The Odyssey,
written by Homer in the eighth century BCE, is a common story with multiple retellings that
focuses on the journey of Odysseusand his son Telemachus. Odysseus is a war hero of the Trojan
War, and the tale focuses on the conflicts he faces while journeying home. In this story, Odysseus
shows how honor and loyalty play a pivotal role in defining the success of a leader, and how the
absence of these traits leads to anarchy and turmoil within a ruler s domain.
The necessity of honor and loyalty in a ruler are seen during the Odysseus absence in his kingdom
of Ithaka. During the 16th year that Odysseus is missing, suitors come from all over the land to
win the hand of Odysseus wife, Penelope, presuming Odysseus is dead. Because Odysseus is
absent, the country is having a turn for the worse with the arrival of the suitors. The suitors take
over the royal residence, [the suitors] use our house as if it were a house to plunder (Homer 9).
Without a ruler governing the people, there lies no punishment for

A Reflective Educator And My Pedagogical Agenda
My research during this course has allowed me to become a more reflective educator and to
determine my pedagogical agenda. While studying James A. Bank s Stages of Ethnicity and
Gloria Ladson Billings Theory of Culturally Relevant Pedagogy, I connect with NBPTS
Proposition 4.B, and discovered a truer, honest picture of myself and of where I hope to be as a
future administrator (NBPTS, 2014, p.16) The idea of cultural diversity has been part of my
educational philosophy since middle school. I grew up in a very rural area of Pickens County, SC,
where I attended elementary school with all white children. It wasn t until I went to middle school
in Simpsonville, SC that I was enrolled in classes with students of other cultural and... Show more

It was by far the best training I could have ever received. I was hired at the same school at the
end of my student teaching semester and have now been teaching for 4 years. The notion of
cultural diversity is important to me because of the amount of personal growth I have
experienced by being exposed to the diverse lives of my friends and students. My past
experiences and this course have prepared me to be a self reflecting, culturally relevant educator
and administrator. I hope to use my knowledge from this research and course to influence other
educators to also create culturally relevant classrooms that will openly welcome and embrace all
students. A classroom is only truly culturally relevant when it has student academic success, paired
with a development and maintenance of cultural competence, for which students also develop
cognizance where they desire to challenge the status quo of the present day social structure
(Ladson Billings, 1995, p.160) According to Ladson Billings (1995), it is behoove of teachers to
have pedagogical excellence in good teaching, also referred to as culturally relevant teaching with
collective empowerment. Often times for students of culturally diverse backgrounds, school is a
place where they cannot be themselves. Most school s cultural norms are typically

Taking a Look at Clinical Trials
Every medical innovation starts with an idea or vision, and goes through several developmental
stages, namely, basic research, translational research and clinical research before being able to
market the treatment. (4) This treatment can be a drug, a medical device, a vaccine, a blood
product or gene therapy. (3) The basic research is done in a laboratory, where cell function is
studied, and it is determined under what conditions the treatment could cause cells to function more
effectively. The treatment is then tested in animals to see the effect, and to test possible toxicity.
Once the treatment has been named safe for use in animals, it can then be tested in humans. (4)
Clinical research, or clinical trials, involves the testing of the treatment in human volunteers,
working towards the approval of the treatment to be marketed. (3) The research that bridges the gap
between studies done in the laboratory and clinical trials is then known as translational research. (4)
The main purpose of a clinical trial is to determine if the treatment is safe and effective for human
use, and is required by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) before a treatment can be
approved. There are, however, other reasons these trials are performed. They can be used to
compare the new treatment to an already existing one to determine which is more effective, and to
determine different ways in which to use current treatments in order for them to be most effective,
easiest to use and provide the

In the new attraction, The GG Force, you will be experiencing g forces like no other! From high
hills, loops, and plenty of more! The GG Force is a duel tracked roller coaster where one train (a
set of 2 or a greater amount of carts connected by joints to transport people around a coaster s
circuit) races the other. First, the two trains get launched at the same time by the cable pulling
them up the hills. Then, they race each other to the conclusion of the ride. Finally, which ever
train wins, all of the passengers on that train win a pocket sized keychain that s shaped like the
winning train they were on. Each train has its own name so when you get on the ride it ll be one
train versus the other. The name of the train that goes on the highest hill is furious and the train
that goes on the short hill is forceful. The total ride time is 1 minute 20 seconds and there is 50
rides every hour. Each cart holds 3 people and there is a total of 7 carts per train. Two trains

Growing Horses Vitamins
Growing horses require vitamins as a source of nutrient due to the benefits and requirements they
need for their body s. The vitamins growing horses require depend on what their environment
looks like. This could range from them being in a stall getting fed grain everyday to being in a
pasture eating forage. Some horses are on both a high quality forage and a grain given to them each
day. Vitaminrequirements also become more relevant when coming closer to the weaning time for
growing horses. Some of these vitamin requirements are given to horses additionally to what they
are being fed. Vitamins serve an importance to growing horses in many aspects of both weaning and
maturing. There are several vitamins that can affect growing horses and

What Role Did Alexander Hamilton Play In The Election Of 1800
Alexander Hamilton played an extremely significant role in the presidential election of 1800.
These were due to Hamilton s opposing beliefs on who he believed should become the next
President. His attempts to persuade everyone were highly successful, due to the fact that his actions
lead to the selection of his bitter, political enemy, Thomas Jefferson, as our nation s third chief
executive, despite the differences they had on political views. However; the outcome of the
election affected not only Hamilton s political career, but, also, his personal life in numerous

Despite Hamilton s opposing beliefs, his attempts to persuade everyone were highly successful, due
to the fact that his actions lead to the selection of his bitter, political enemy, Thomas Jefferson, as
our nation s third chief executive, despite the differences they had. Hamilton was able to persuade
the House of Representatives to vote for Jefferson over Burr by writing, From Alexander Hamilton
to Harrison Gray Otis. In this letter, Hamilton elaborates on how choosing Jefferson is the best
option because he is the less evil between the two of them. However; the outcome of the election
affected not only Hamilton s political career, but his personal life in numerous ways, as well. As
far as his political career goes, he lost an immense amount of support from the Federalists. This
was due to his pamphlet, Letter from Alexander Hamilton, Concerning the Public Conduct and
Character of John Adams, Esq., which elaborated on why people should not vote for Adams as
president. This was widely circulated by Aaron Burr s, after he lost the presidency run. This was
ultimately the most lethal aspect to Hamilton s political career. Secondly, the Federalists wanted
Burr to win the presidency, due to the fact they thought Jefferson would ruin everything that had
been accomplished within the past twelve years, but Hamilton opposed this. Additionally, Burr
attempted to run as governor in New York, and the New York Federalists were going to vote him
in. However; Hamilton advised everyone not to vote for him, thus; causing Burr to lose, again.
Despite Hamilton not being the only one to go against Burr, Burr challenged Hamilton to a duel,
which, ultimately lead to his death, which ended his personal life. Ultimately, Hamilton s actions in
the election of 1800 lead to the election of Thomas Jefferson as president, but caused a fatal end in

PUBLIC AND CITIZEN PARTICIPATION IN PROCESS DEVELOPMENT ACHIEVEMENT:
ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES 1.0INTRODUCTION PUBLIC AND CITIZEN
PARTICIPATION A definition of participation: for the purposes of this note a useful definition of
public or community participation is that adopted by Stoker (1997) for political participation
(following Parry et al, 1992): members of the public taking part in any of the processes of
formulation, passage and implementation of public policies . This is a wide ranging definition,
which extends the emphasis of public participation beyond the development of policy, to decision
making and implementation. Public participation is not newly addressed; it has exercised

The more the planning process facilitate public participation, the more community will be aware
of the planning function as a democratic and community force; 8. Participatory planning, open
to radical proposals, is more likely to pursue innovative solutions to community problems
(Godshalk. 1971). These 8 propositions provide a basis from, which to explore the ramification
of public participation, both as a concept and as a decision making technique. The need of public
participation in planning is more clearly expressed by Bolan (1967), No matter how we improve
our substantive knowledge of how cities function, and no matter how we improve our capabilities
in information handling, operations research, and prediction, if there is not a corollary
development of community s capacity for improved decision making within the framework of
democratic process, there is the real possibility that heavy investment in the current forms of city
planning techniques will have been in vain. 2.0PUBLIC PARTICIPATION A NEW PARADIGM
OF PLANNING PROCESS Planning is for the common people and for the community
development then it should not be complete concern of the planners or the central policy makers;
rather it should be the concern of the whole community and whole society. Thus the traditional
planning process needs to be revised and modified to make room for the common people to take
part in the decision making process. The local communities, elected

The Crucial Role Of Obesity In Today s Society
Obesity is a popular term in today s society, especially in America. While the word itself is quite
common, it has a negative connotation that is dragged along with it. Obesity has become taboo in
society, because no one wants to discuss the unpleasant details that relate to it. But, when it is
discussed, some of the biggest questions are What causes obesity? and, who is to blame? These
questions have led to many years in research, and even a few lawsuit cases. Fast foodintake plays a
crucial role in the likelihood of obesity because it is cheap, easy to access, and has a diversity of
flavors and variety available. The increased consumption of fast food products leads to a higher
risk of health issues caused by obesity. Merriam Webster... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While genetics does have a role to play in a person s likelihood of obtaining obesity, eating large
amounts of greasy, sugary, unhealthy foods will result in a higher risk of weight gain. Diet and
exercise might help some people be able to counter the effects of fast food consumption. But
when a person eats fast food more than once a week they are potentially putting their bodies in
danger. And to top things off, most fast food meals are downed along with sugary sodas, which
compound the problem almost exponentially as the person is drinking large levels of
carbohydrates (that later are stored as fat) to go along with their calorie laden meals. Imagine
that, having a huge problem with high calorie meals and then drinking sodas alongside. The
average soda contains around 180 calories, so people are not only eating too many calories, they
are also drinking them in excess. A person could order a hamburger from a quick service restaurant
and just eat the meat itself and be okay. But when the meat it paired with bread and a large soda it
makes the entire meal extremely unhealthy. While genetics and environment may be factors, fast
food is the common denominator in all cases of obesity. Places with fewer fast food restaurants are
generally healthier than those who are surrounded by fast food. Communities that choose to eat
healthier, fresher food are healthier.

Gender Roles In Ancient Mediterranean
Gossiping during the Ancient Mediterranean was a form of social control, which enforced social
norms such as ethical sexual behaviors. Gossip is usually established from witnessing an action
that is considered a deviation from the standard behaviors within a given society. Set restraints and
values produce a power dynamic and allow individuals to claim their subjecthood; this socially
constructed definition of subjecthood allows people to categorize themselves within the social and
political hierarchy in order to make sense of who they are, such as their sexuality. The interdictions
built and created an understanding of one s subjecthood and were controlled by gossip. As a result,
gossip defines what is acceptable within that society, the creation... Show more content on

For example, if a couple did not perform sexual intercourse in the manner that abided the
interdictions stated in the Talmud, there would be public and physical consequences on their
children. Why are there lame children? Because they [their fathers] turned over the tables. Why
are there dumb children? Because they talk during intercourse. Why are there blind children?
Because they look at that place (Nedarim 20a b; Boyarin p. 110). In this interpretation of the text,
the ministering angels told R. Yohanan b. Dehabi that those who perform unconventional sexual
behavior will have children with birth defects. The deformed children became public evidence
that the couple did not follow the code of the Talmud and they would have had to confront the
gossip that circled around the community about them and their children. This also deals with the
issue of the panopticon, which is the idea that God is the all seeing eye and is always watching
you, even in the married bed. This theory of surveillance functions as a social policing because it

Marvel versus DC is a debate that has been reignited with the launch of multiple movies featuring

Both Marvel and DC have their collection of heroes and villains. The only heroes and villains that

from the DC universe. He has the ability to fly, super strength, near invincibility, super speed, and

  • 2. Fusion And Hybrid Electric Vehicle Three model years passed by and I finally got behind the wheel again of a Ford Fusion. Just like the last time, this model was the Fusion Energi, a plug in hybrid electric vehicle based on Ford s popular midsize car. Now in its fifth model year, the 2017 Fusion Energi is a close match to the standard hybrid model as well as to the gasoline version. Besides the electric charging port located just ahead of the driver s door, the other differences have to do with badging you ll find Fusion Energi markups on the exterior as well as inside the sedan. And that s a good thing too the Fusion is already an attractive model and no styling differentiation is warranted. Some manufacturers opt for silly looking grilles or other embellishments to distinguish gas and hybrid models. On the other hand, it seems Ford decided that a near uniform look for all Fusion models is entirely sufficient. 2017 Ford Fusion Energi Platinum The 2017 version welcomes a third trim level, Platinum, joining the SE and Titanium editions. Also new this year is the grille, exterior LED lighting, and SYNC 3 infotainment system. All models now come with an 11 speaker audio system and a new rotary transmission selector. What hasn t changed is the 2.0 liter, four cylinder engine powering this model nor the permanent magnet AC synchronous electric motor or the lithium ion battery. Also present is an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission to turn the front wheels. Selling hybrids is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Examples Of Honey Baby Sweetheart Deb Caletti said in, Honey, Baby, Sweetheart I was like a chocolate in a box, looking well behaved and perfect in place, all the while harboring a secret center. Facades are used in everyday life all around you, but you never notice them. A prime example is my best friend. She acts rambunctious and like her friends when she is around them. She basically abandons the way she was raised to fit in and be popular. When she gets around her family she is the angel they raised. Facades are the worst lies because they can be very easily shattered, are destructive, and can wrongfully take an opportunity from another. Like glass, facades can be very easily broken with even the smallest of fractures. An example of a small fracture can be changing the way you speak or the way you dress. People pick up on the smallest differences even the slightest things. After that small fracture come the shatter. Which brings on an abundance more to deal with and clean up. After the shatter comes the hurt of others. Facades are easily believed therefore when people see it was a lie they feel betrayed. Now that the faГ§ade is shattered along with the trust of betrayed the mess is left to be cleaned up. As an example of trying to clean up the mess author Stephanie Ericsson says in the essay The Ways We Lie ...I saw less than a hundred bucks. ...I confronted him, he raised both eyebrows and tried to convince me that I d heard him wrong (476). To attempt to undo the havoc caused one of two options are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Death On The Nile By Agatha Christie Along with Agatha Christie s other famous works, Christie wrote the book Death on the Nile. This book once again includes Mrs. Christie s most famous character, Hercule Poirot. At the beginning of the book, Poirot is out to eat in London. Hercule notices a couple much in love, Jacqueline de Bellefort and Simon Doyle. Jacqueline does not come from a very wealthy family. The day after the couple was seen out on a date, Jacqueline takes Simon to meet her friend Linnet Ridgeway, hoping that she will give Simon a job. Once after they had met, Simon left Jacquelin to marry Linnet. Poirot next sees Simon and his new wife while he himself is on holiday. The couple were on their honeymoon in Egypt. While at a hotel in Cairo, Hercule sees the Doyles and Jacqueline meeting at the hotel. After the couple s conversation with Jacqueline, Linnet comes to Poirot and and tells him that Jacqueline has been stalking them ever since the wedding. Poirot tells Linnet that there is nothing he can legally do to stop her. He, however, does try to talk with Jacqueline in private and ask her to stop her evil ways. Jacqueline tells Poirot that she wants to kill Linnet. She then pulls out a small pistol and show it to him. The Doyle s try to elude Jacqueline s stalking by staying a longer time on their honeymoon. They decide to go on a cruise on the Nile River along with Poirot. To the newlyweds dismay, Jacqueline turns up on the same boat as the couple. Poirot also sees someone on the boat, an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Glucose And Lactase Lab Report Analysis It is concluded that there was a presence of glucose when lactase was added to the lactose+maltose but this was not seen in lactose. Accordingly, lactose was broken down into glucose and galactose in the existence of the enzyme lactase. In addition to that, because one maltose disaccharide is two monosaccharides, it was concluded to be positive for the benedict s solution. Due to this, maltose should always be positive. A yellow color was seen in the solution during the experiment. The control group for this experiment was the lactose solution which showed a negative test and, therefore, remained in its original blue color as there was no lactase to catalyze the chemical reaction in order for the bonds to break. Lastly, both the lactose and maltose solution with lactase had a positive result of glucoseas the benedict s solution turned a yellowish green color. Discussion The main purpose of the lab was to investigate the effects of lactase two sugars, lactose and maltose. It was concluded that adding lactase to lactose will cause it to break down into its two components and this was indicated by adding benedict s solution. In the presence of glucose, benedict s solution causes the color to change to a red yellow solution, which is what was observed. Gene expression can be used to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When there is a lack of lactase in the small intestines, it results in lactose intolerance which means the body cannot fully break down lactose. Most cases of lactose intolerance occur later in life when activity of lactate gradually decreases causing less lactase to bind to active sites, however, in rare cases some babies may be born without the lactase enzyme. This intolerance caused by the lack of lactase leads to the lactose being passed onto the color, where it is fermented by the bacteria present and causes gas, diarrhea and bloating and can lead to sever ... • 6. Predominantly White Institutions vs Historically Black... Predominately White Institutions and the Reasons they are Worth the Time and Money It was only a year ago when I was faced with making a very important decision that would affect me for the rest of my life. It was time for me to choose an institution of higher learning to continue my studies that would eventually lead me to my career. My decision wasn t simply which university or college to choose, but as a young black student, whether to choose a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) or a Predominately White Institution (PWI). This would take me on an insightful journey and I would make my decision after discussing the pros and cons of both institutions and through interactions with students, faculty and staff. Before too long ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this particular study conducted on state funding per student in North Carolina, the funding of UNC Chapel Hill (PWI), North Carolina A T (HBCU), and North Carolina Central University (HBCU) were reviewed. The findings showed that UNC budgeted $27,826, A T $10,400 and NCCU $13,378 per student. The larger size of PWIs means that more money is available for student programs and activities. PWIs provide opportunities in a more mainstream environment and thus more realistically mirror the real world. After four years of study at a PWI, students have the confidence and are prepared to enter the real world as contributing members. This may be a very broad and generalized claim, but there is documented evidence to back it up. Using black female students as an example, journal article (what journal article???) stated the benefits for this group. It read, These articulate, interpersonally adept women gained more from the academic experience on White campuses (Allen, W.R.). Not every African Americanthat enters a PWI will be able to succeed. Although the campus itself may be conducive to their success based on the many advantages existing there, other challenges may interfere with that success. Socially, these students may face difficulties as they strive to fit in and belong: Students who successfully adapt, establish social relationships with Whites, adjust to Black White cultural differences, and cope with college ... • 7. Comparison Of Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire I agree with that quote because I believe that literature is much like art in the sense that you can look at what someone has made and figure out how they think. Without words we as a species would never have made it half as far as we have in such the relatively small time that we have been on this earth. It is truly incredible how we are able process what is right from wrong in a split second, feel a whole plethora of emotions all at once, and even solve tasks that are presented to us on a daily basis. All because we have evolved over so many generations with the help of words to communicate with other members of our species, and that is how literature truly allows us to see through the eyes of another and in a way, even see their thought process and how truly unique we all are. I believe what makes us human is our creativity and ingenuity as a species and those are the major traits that set us apart as both a species and as individuals. My book is Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, it is the fourth book in the series but it is my favorite of the seven. The book follows the perspective of Harry as he must compete against three other wizards to win the Triwizard Tournament. Throughout the book Harry faces a series of obstacles that he must overcome, the first problem he faces is he must find out who put his name into the Goblet of Fire, this causes Harry to then face the internal conflict that is the feeling that someone is out to get him. Towards the end it is revealed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction Taylorism, additionally known as Scientific Management, is a theory of management methodology that emphasizes on maximising work efficiency. Developed and named after an American industrial engineer, Frederick Winslow Taylor. Through thorough use of a stopwatch and a clipboard, Taylor put all his research and outcomes into a book called the Principles of Scientific Management, which was later published in 1911. In the monograph Taylor s notion was to mend the economical proficiency, principally in the labouring output. He believed that there were great losses, when the whole country is suffering through inefficiency in almost of all of our daily acts (Taylor 1911) and that remedies in inefficiency lies in systematic ... The Last Of The Mohicans Response Critical Response Paper Written in 1826 and directed in 1915 respectively, The Last of the Mohicans by James Fenimore Cooper and The Birth of a Nation by D.W. Griffith were foundational in influencing both the American novel and film industry. Consequently, they are also two of the most controversial texts in American history as they epitomize racism and the desire for an all white society. Cooper s vision of an emerging American national character/identity is similar to Griffith s obvious wish for a white supremacist paradise in the sense that both men created world s in which whiteness is regarded as ideal and superlative, while other races are perceived as savage and inferior. • 13. The Key Episodes That Established Leadership Among Israel The key episodes that established leadership among Israel are the accounts of their tribulations while in the wilderness and God s responses. Starting in Number Chapter 11 the Israelites are beginning to complain about their misfortunes. It was not clear to scholars whether the Israelites were complaining to Mosesor to God. Either way God herd their complaints and took it as if they were toward him. In return to their complaints God burned against them . Then the fire of the Lord burned against them. And consumed some outlying parts of the camp . Mosses then asked God to cease the fire in prayer and God did. But the people cried out to Moses; and Moses prayed to the Lord, and the fire abated . Following the Israelites them complained again about not having the same food they once did when they were in Egypt. The rabble among them had a strong craving; and the Israelites also wept again, and said, If only we had some meat to eat! Then they reminisced about when they were in Egypt and the variety of foods they had available. The manna was not sufficient for them. The Lord then sent in great number quail to teach them a lesson. They had more meat not then what they had asked for. The lesson was about greed. The Israelites already had food, they were not going hungry. Instead of being grateful they chose to complain and that is why God sent the great numbers of quail. • 15. Reflection On Taboos For this sequence, our focus was on taboos. This comes out a little in Taylors New Persona and was my main focus in Inked . I think by including these pieces of work it helps talk about the taboos in society and it helps shed some light on the untold truths. The second assignment was my story told through different lenses; this helped me try and expand on my writingstyle and adapt to writing in a college setting. For my Taylor Swiftassignment, I took very detailed notes on the music video to try and help me get a good idea of exactly what was going on. I then decided to have my main focus on the dark spots on Taylor Swifts career. I decided to focus on these because most of the music video focused in on her past and how it has changed her to be a new person. A cry room is located in the back of the Cathedral. It is for families that have newly born babies. If the parents were to bring their babies to Cathedral they would most likely cry during the Mass, and it will interrupt the Mass. Therefore, the cry room is for families who still want to go to church but do not want to interrupt the Holy mass. An adult with a BMI (body mass index) higher than 30% is considered to be obese (Obesity). There isn t a direct focus on obesity, because people don t think it s an important issue. To ensure a better future, solution is needed now. The solution to ending the obesity epidemic by encouraging a healthier lifestyle on children at young ages, improving nutrition at schools and restaurants, as well as providing more time and space for citizens to get physically active. The best way to start a change with obesity in America is to begin with encouraging a healthy lifestyle for the younger generation. The United States has one of the largest percentiles of overweight/obese children in the world. The public clearly knows this, but is failing to take action. The parents are responsible for the future of their kids; they should take action early in securing a healthy future for them. This can be done requiring all students in school to be part of some sort of sport in school or outside; like a recreational league. It s up to the parents to take responsibility for this and make sure their kids are active in sports. • 19. Comic Relief And Gravediggers In Hamlet Hamlet is classified as a Shakespearian tragedy, even so, a handful of comedic scenes play powerful roles in the plotline of the play. Comic relief serves a more significant thematic purpose than to merely mitigate apprehension. While the gravediggers in Hamlet depict humorous characters in Act V. scene I, repartee is interwoven with some surprisingly ironic and profound insights. For instance, their discussion regarding Ophelia advances a chief theme in the play: the controversy around moral legitimacy of suicide subservient to theological law. By granting this hefty topic a darkly comic rendition, Shakespeare creates a grotesque satire of Hamlets To be, or not to be soliloquy (III.i), suggesting the subsidence of the remaining ethics in... These two gravediggers are the first instances of common people in the play they emerge in blatant juxtaposition with the other characters, all of royal/noble status, and thus can delineate an unprecedented point of view. The second gravedigger offers the duplicity of the royalty/nobility through the case of Ophelia s suicide: If this had not been a gentlewoman, she should have been buried out o Christian burial (p. 23 25). In other words, the upper class, while proclaiming faith in Christianity, absolves sins perpetrated by nobles, yet still holds the common people accountable for their sins. The upper class can essentially evade eternal damnation because they are of royal lineage. Here, the gravediggers converse about Ophelia having a Christian burial despite the fact that many believe she killed herself even the priest suspects she had committed suicide. On the contrary, if she was a commoner she would have not acquired the privilege of a Christian burial. Shakespeare is attempting to emphasize this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. Uxt Task 1 Essay I chose to study and analyze J.M.W. Turner s Slave Ship for this project and found it to be very interesting. Immediately while looking at the piece you get a strong sense of emotion and drama that is being portrayed. There is a lot of depth and warmth in the colors that are used and wide swift brush strokes to create the images. The first image that caught my eye was of waves crashing on the left side of the painting. The white tips of the waves are very noticeable against the softer shades of the ocean. Behind the waves is a ship which is the next part of the painting that drew my attention. The ship seems to be caught in the rough waves of the sea and barely able to keep afloat. There is a glimmer of light from the sun peeking through... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Turner it is a lot clearer as to why he depicted such an emotional and vivid work of art in Slave Ship . Turner was inspired to paint this piece after reading The History and Abolition of the Slave Trade by Thomas Clarkson. In 1781, the captain of the slave ship Zong had ordered 133 slaves to be thrown overboard so that insurance payments could be collected. This event probably inspired Turner to create this artwork. Turner became an advocate for abolishing slaveryaround the world and even exhibited this painting during an anti slavery conference (History in an Hour). Common themes that were seen in the Romantic era, which spanned from the end of the eighteenth century to the beginning of the nineteenth century, were naturalism, Gothicism, emotionalism, and exoticism. Salve Ship definitely portrays some, if not all, of these themes. The most obvious used theme would be emotion. Turner is clearly trying to get an emotional response out of his audience with such a dark and dramatic subject matter in this piece or art. It would be very hard not to have high emotions when looking at it. Work of art from the Romantic time period shares many similarities with work that is seen in the modern world and today s audience can relate greatly to art from that time. There is a strong sense of emotion and erotic response in art in the modern age and people react strongly to that. Art from romanticism brings out the same emotion and response. ... It illustrates various aspects of worship and the role of worship in the Apocalypse. The language of the book and different approaches to the theme are appreciated, because those are simple and clear to understand the theme. • 24. Dream Deferral And Closure In The Women Of Brewster Place Unfulfilled Dreams and Deferring Closure In her critical essay, Dream, Deferral and Closure in The Women of Brewster Place Jill Matus writes about the theme of unfulfilled dreams as it is portrayed in Gloria Naylor s The Women of Brewster Place. Matus s main argument about this theme can be summarized as her belief that Naylor uses the dream described at the end of the novel as an out an end that allows her to not commit to one conclusion or other; a deferral of closure, if you will. A reader might ask what the purpose of such a noncommittal ending is as it relates to the novel as a whole. Matus offers some answers to this question by claiming that the text and, more symbolically, the lives of the characters and setting of the novel are prolonged by the deferred ending because of the presentation of dream and in turn the dream affirms and perpetuates the life of the street and characters. In other words, Matus argument could be interpreted as the belief that the dream as it is presented in the end of the novel leaves a sense of hope for an otherwise decaying setting and lives. Personally, I agree with Matus s conclusions about how the ending works for the novel even though it is not really an ending at all. I was convinced of this argument based on how she uses Langston Hughes s poem Harlem about deferred dreams to illustrate how the end of the novel is Naylor s way of reimagining the same message of the poem. In the poem, Hughes writes about the fate of dreams that are deferred or unfulfilled. He writes that these dreams dry up like raisins in the sun, fester like sores, stink like rotten meat, crust over like a syrupy sweet. Matus writes that she is interested in looking at the way in which Naylor rethinks the poem in her novel s attention to dreams and desires and deferral, and then to consider the implications of her vision in terms of the novel s sensitivity to history and social context (50). The unfulfillment of dreams and desires are two major recurring themes in the novel and what makes the ending of the novel so interesting is that it is a narrative illustration of these themes. The unassuming reader is actually left unfulfilled because the seeming conclusion to the novel is taken away ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Reese s essay, The Formalization of Horror in Titus Andronicus, he makes the point that Tamora and her sons allegorical dressing up as Revenge, Murder, and Rapine can be viewed as a symbol of the characterization of the entire work (Horror 79). In this scene, they are as they are, the symbol is exactly the same as the person. The only two characters who might be said to escape the dichotomy are Titus and Aaron the Moor. In Rome, Titus sacrifices both his son and his daughter, says Miola, on the alter of his own personal honor (Family 67). It is fair to say that personal honor is his concern in killing his offspring, for Mutius represents shameful filial disobedience (or mutiny) and Lavinia represents his inability to protect her and is a reminder of a shameful act done not only to her, but to her whole Andronici family too. • 35. Comparing Cops And The Literary Versions Of The Maltese... Cops and Chiaroscuro In the film and the literary versions of The Maltese Falcon, cops are portrayed differently because of the distinct tools available to each media. The written descriptions of the novel give people on the police force a personality, so that they are humanized. On the other side, the film creates a cynical depiction of cops, where policemen are less complex humans than the criminals of the world, so this portrayal makes the film s world appears grimmer than the literary world. In lieu of written description, the lighting of Huston s The Maltese Falcon (1941) causes the policemen to lack some of the depth that they had in Hammett s novel of The Maltese Falcon (1929) because the lighting creates fewer contrasting shadows... In figure 2, Polhaus and Dundy wear nearly identical outfits, they have the same grim expressions, and they have extremely similar lighting on their faces, clothes, and hands. In figure 3, they both appear menacing with the same dark lighting and this lighting reinforces the idea that Spade is more trustworthy than the cops. Figures 2 and 3 illustrate how the individuals in the police force have been blurred, so that they are nearly the same. It has already been established that the lack of contrast in shadows on the faces of the cops makes them less complex characters, and since all the cops are similar, it means nearly all are superficial in a way, and that Spade is more human than all of them because he is in charge of his own actions and morals. The cops in the film have been transformed from characters into plot devices and obstacles for Spade to get around. This de characterization of the police forces people to relate to criminals and morally ambiguous private investigators like Spade. The world of the film is bleaker than the world of the novel because cops, who are meant to protect and serve others, have been slightly discredited. Thus, the institutions in the filmic world are seen as ineffective and unstable, and the audience can only relate to people like Spade who work outside the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The two main forms of management discussed in the passages by Shafritz Hyde (2012) and Chester Barnard (1968) are scientific management and human relations school of management. The theory of scientific management, first introduced by Frederick W. Taylor (1912, pp. 37 39) proposes that the driving force behind a man s work is receiving a monetary reward. On the other hand the theory of human relations, as suggested by Mary Parker Follet (1926, pp. 58 65) and later validated by the Hawthorne experiments conducted in the 1930s (Shafritz and Hyde, 2012) propose that the driving force ... William Willoughby (1918, pp. 40 43), did prominent work in the field of public administration. One of his most prominent work is on budgetary reform. Years later came along the Luther Gulick, with the Theory of Organization (1937, pp. 81 89), who again shared Frederick Taylor s ideology of taking a scientific approach to management. The State, for its part, asserts that the documents were critical to establish that the contraband at issue here belonged to Johnson, and that any prejudice may have suffered did not substantially outweigh the evidence s probative value. We agree with the State. Although a judge has no discretion to admit irrelevant evidence, a judge does have considerable discretion to exclude evidence if its probative value is substantially outweighed by the danger of unfair prejudice, confusion of the issues, or misleading the jury, or by considerations of undue delay, waste of time, or needless presentation of cumulative evidence. She, similar to Odysseus, must save her country from invaders, The Huns for Mulan and the suitors for Odysseus. Both protagonists face many trials that test their loyalty and honor. And both prevail, becoming great, respected leaders of their people. Honor as well as loyalty are significant characteristics of a respected person. The Odyssey, written by Homer in the eighth century BCE, is a common story with multiple retellings that focuses on the journey of Odysseusand his son Telemachus. Odysseus is a war hero of the Trojan War, and the tale focuses on the conflicts he faces while journeying home. In this story, Odysseus shows how honor and loyalty play a pivotal role in defining the success of a leader, and how the absence of these traits leads to anarchy and turmoil within a ruler s domain. The necessity of honor and loyalty in a ruler are seen during the Odysseus absence in his kingdom of Ithaka. Taking a Look at Clinical Trials Every medical innovation starts with an idea or vision, and goes through several developmental stages, namely, basic research, translational research and clinical research before being able to market the treatment. (4) This treatment can be a drug, a medical device, a vaccine, a blood product or gene therapy. (3) The basic research is done in a laboratory, where cell function is studied, and it is determined under what conditions the treatment could cause cells to function more effectively. The treatment is then tested in animals to see the effect, and to test possible toxicity. Once the treatment has been named safe for use in animals, it can then be tested in humans. (4) Clinical research, or clinical trials, involves the testing of the treatment in human volunteers, working towards the approval of the treatment to be marketed. (3) The research that bridges the gap between studies done in the laboratory and clinical trials is then known as translational research. (4) The main purpose of a clinical trial is to determine if the treatment is safe and effective for human use, and is required by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) before a treatment can be approved. There are, however, other reasons these trials are performed. But when a person eats fast food more than once a week they are potentially putting their bodies in danger. And to top things off, most fast food meals are downed along with sugary sodas, which compound the problem almost exponentially as the person is drinking large levels of carbohydrates (that later are stored as fat) to go along with their calorie laden meals.
