1.18 M M s Lab
Purpose: To practice direct and indirect measurement
Introduction: Do you think you could measure the average thickness of a sample of M Ms without
directly measuring selected M Ms? The answer is yes, and in this activity you will make direct and
indirect measurements of the thickness of M Ms. You will compare the results and evaluate the
reliability of each method of measurement. Be sure to view the tutorial on the proper use of the vernier
caliper. Please re visit the information on when to cite sources.
Since a graduated cylinder is usually used for liquid measurement, students think they need to put
water in the cylinder. This is not true for this activity. The graduated cylinder will be kept clean and
dryfor this activity. It is also important to remember that in the metric system, one mL is the same
volume as one cubic centimeter (1 ml = 1 cm3).
Materials: none
Pictures will be provided of the experiment. Materials used in obtaining the pictures are a bag of
regular (NOT peanut) M Ms (about 8 oz), plastic vernier caliper, and 100 ml plastic graduated
cylinder.
Procedure:
Start with a clean and dry 100 ml plastic graduated cylinder. Add M Ms until the graduated cylinder is
about 3/4 full. Gently tap the graduated cylinder to settle the M Ms. Read the volume of M Ms in cm3
and record the value in Data Table 1.
Pour the M Ms onto a clean, dry table or other flat surface. Use your hands to

Video Games And Computer Games Essay
Computer and Video Games: Friends Needed Video games have existed for much longer than many
young people are aware. For example, an individual would need to be over the age of 50 to remember
the first time arcade games were available for play in a bowling alley or inside the entertainment
building of a miniature golf course. Similarly, an age requirement of 40 would be required for a person
to remember the first release of the Atari, which was usually seen at a friend s home, or to remember
the first complex games available on a computer (for example, The Sims). With a history of decades,
computer and video games have influenced generations. Although many experts and doctors have
argued otherwise, computer and video games usage doesn t encourage or cause violent behavior;
rather, participation in computer/video games encourages positive social interaction and strengthens
problem solving skills. Computer games have taken the blame for many national tragedies, including
Columbine and Sandy Hook; however, in the 1970s, rock music was blamed for many violent acts by
teenagers, including suicide. Instead of delving into their child s psychological status or the quality of
his/her home life, parents look around for any other reason for their child s violent behavior that won t
require them to take the blame for the child s actions. Even the parents of children who weren t
involved exhibit his behavior; the reason could be that it gives comfort for people to think, My child

Rise and Fall of the Romanov Dynasty
The Romanov Dynasty held the Russian Empire as one of the most powerful European states for over
three centuries. In 1917, during Nicholas II s contradictory reign, a revolution began that transformed
the empire into the first ever communist nation, replacing the infamous autocratic rule and introducing
the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.
The Russian people were ruled by an autocratic government since 1613 when the Romanov Dynasty
began. The government was run by the Tsar who had unlimited power over the rest of Russia. The
Tsar set up a system of government involving an imperial council, a small cabinet of ministers and a
senate; all of which were implemented as personal advisers and delegates. The Tsar had control over

By 1916, dissatisfaction within Russian monarch had reached boiling point. Rasputin was murdered
by the Tsar s own cousins and the majority of the parliament and upper classes were no longer willing
to meet expectations of loyalty, respect and patriotism.
Even though the Russian Revolution transpired quite suddenly, the foundations of it may have started
centuries earlier. Since the 1700s, the ideas of European regime had begun to influence the minds of
Russian citizens. Lower classes began to believe in democratic rights and equality, newspapers and
books spread concepts about universal rights and many believed in a future with a just ruler and a
more cultured society.
From the 1800s, the Russian monarchy gradually became weaker and increasingly fragile. After the
death of Alexander I in 1825, a group of Decembrists made up of thousands of soldiers seized
advantage of a succession issue and demanded reforms plus a written constitution. This displayed a
hint of light and prompted many to rethink the government system and their place within the
hierarchy. Then after the death of Nicholas I in 1855, Alexander II rose to power and was referred to
as the great liberator after emancipating the Russian serfs in 1861. While the act earned Alexander
public affection and respect, it angered landowners, created an economic crisis and also

Stand With Texas Women By Wendy Davis
On July 1, 2013, Texas Senator Wendy Davis made a speech at Texas s State Capitol. She had an
audience of about 5,000 people, as she spoke about Women s Rights and Texan power. In Stand with
Texas Women , Wendy Davis argues that Texas is all about fairness, so women deserve equal
opportunity. Specifically, Davis states that Texas has pushed to be fair, but politicians have been
selfish in their careers. Her point is that creating equal opportunity for women will help not only
Texan families, but Texas as a whole. She also points out that Texas needs politicians who want what
is best for the state and the people. Davis uses her Texas pride as an advantage in her speech. She talks

She argued for certain regulations, such as fighting for abortion to be banned after 20 weeks of
pregnancy. Unfortunately, she failed to prove her point to the Senate. In her speech at the rally on July
1, 2013, she talks about the previous filibuster and she called it the crux of a turning point in Texas
History . The importance of the date of the Stand with Texas Women speech is that it was only a few
days after her filibuster in the Senate. It was beneficial for her to be able to further the points from the
filibuster, by talking directly to the Texas women and men who attended the rally. As she stood in
front of 5,000 men and women at the Texas Capitol, she had a much larger audience than expected.
Her speech targeted women and men wanting a better life for them and their families, and they were
there to hear what she had to say. During the weekend before she spoke, Rick Perry accused her of not
learning her lesson because she is a single mother (Koh, Luthra, Abortion Rights Activists Descend on
Capitol ). He was pushing her to a limit that she did not appreciate. Therefore, she attacked him in her
speech by stating, I was lucky enough to be able to make the choices in my life that I knew would
work for me. And I don t regret for one minute my decisions about my daughters, my education or my
direction in life. She overcame what Rick Perry said by talking about how her

Difference Between Postcolonialism And Post-Colonialism
Introduction
In the 1990s, when other fields failed to predict some major events of the twentieth century, including
the struggle to decolonise, post colonialism entered the field of International Relations.
Postcolonialism can be surmised as the theory of International Relations which uses the effect of
colonialism to describe the conditions of countries today, with a focus on personal information from
its peoples. Post colonial refers to the analysis of colonialism and anti colonialism. Postcolonial is
used to indicate the analysing of the current era of International Relations as the postcolonial era. The
relevance of postcolonial theory for the study of International Relations will be discussed and
analysed.

colonial/postcolonial studies improved International Relations knowledge. It has been joined by

habitats in which numerous species of wildlife live. These habitats range from the tropical north or
Top End to the arid desert regions in the south. Several feral animals, including large mammals,

rabbits, foxes, cane toads and deer. They also include livestock include buffalo, cattle, horses, donkey,

Greyback Cane Beetle, by controlling, meaning by reducing the population of these introduced

unwanted sewage disposal, animal waste, and air conditions were ineffective. Many people don t have

Health And Wellness Is Sleep Disorders
The topic that comes to mind when I think about health and wellness is sleep disorders. This is
because my mom struggled with a sleep disorder called narcolepsy for some time. The matter that I
would specify as my research problem is: How living with narcolepsy affects quality of life . This is a
precise subject that outlines an area of interest to me that I would like to learn more about. My original
idea was sleep disorders, and I narrowed it down to a specific disorder. After that, I made it even more
precise by pinpointing a specific idea in regards to this topic.
I would begin searching for sources for this research topic on the Herzing University website in the
library section. This library has several reliable databases that can be used to search for foundations of
information. Several of these databases include health , medical , or wellness right in the title. It would
be wise to use these databases to search for information about this specific topic rather than a more
general database because the more precise databases will usually give more accurate results. It is
important to remember what make a source great, and what makes a source not reliable at all.
A technological subject that interests me is television use in young children. I have a two year old
niece, and my sister hardly lets her watch television. She is brilliant as she knows the alphabet,

The Patient Protection and Affordable care Act after being implemented change the major format of
how healthcare was provided and acquired to individuals. It changed many areas that have been
installed as the norm for years, things such as cost, preexisting conditions, and who needs to offer

Americans become insured. For America, this was the first giant leap in a long time to try to fix and
improve a faulty system. Trying to update an old system of course comes some issues with the
procedures and framework of implementation that causes items not to be functioning on an optimal

Color In Women s Equality By Marisol
Women s Equality, by the American artist Marisol, is a lithograph on paper created in 1975 . It is
currently on display at the Grand Rapids Art Museum. At its center, the print features a portrait of
Elizabeth Cady Stanton and one of Lucretia Mott. The portraits are colorless, rendered only in black
and white. The women s features are haggard, lined with advanced age and immensely serious. Their
eyes bore into the viewer in a nonverbal challenge. The faces of the early women s rights activists are
the only distinct images in the art work. They are the definite forms the viewer s eye is immediately
drawn toward. The black and white faces stand in sharp contrast to the colors that surround and engulf
them pink, red, blue, purple, green, yellow, orange. Arising from these seemingly purposelessly
splashed colors, hands emerge from the white background, clasping, reaching toward Elizabeth Cady
Stanton and Lucretia Mott. In Women s Equality, Marisol endeavors to inspire women to fight for
equal rights through her use of color, rendering of the hands, and rendering of the facial features of
Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How Did The League Of Nations A Success
The League of Nations was supposed to be an international organization that would help solve
disputes between the different countries to avoid future wars and bring lasting peace. It was endorsed
on January 10th, 1920 with its headquarters located in Geneva, Switzerland. The League was created
and introduced by President Woodrow Wilson of the United States of America along with his Fourteen
Points, a plan listing terms which he believed must be comprised in the Peace Treaty of Versailles
which would bring an end to World War I. Many nations were members of the League, and it did help
resolve certain issues, but unfortunately, there were quite as many failures as there were triumphs.
Eventually though, the League failed and led to World War II, only to be replaced by the United
Nations in 1946. The League of Nations, meant to be a strong power and keep peace with all nations
who were members, was only a weak and virtually power less organization. President Woodrow
Wilson created the League of Nations and used his immense influence to attempt to achieve its
success. He believed that it would guarantee lasting world peace and resolve any disputes between
nations. President Clemenceau of France and Prime Minister Loyd George of Great Britain, while
highly doubting that the League would succeed, supported it in order that Wilson would support their
plan of revenge on Germany. He was able, with the support from Clemenceau and George, to attach

The Theory Of General Strain Theory Essay
Introduction
In the 1980 s, Criminologist, Robert Agnew, presented his theory of general strain, in which he covers
a range of negative behaviors, especially how adolescents deal with stresses of strain. General strain
theory focuses on the source, such as anything that changes in the individual s life that causes strain.
His theory provides a different outlook on social control and social learning theory for two reasons:
the type of social relationship that leads to delinquency and the motivation for the delinquency
(Agnew, 1992). He states that certain strains and stresses increase the likelihood for crime such as
economic deprivation, child abuse, and discrimination. These factors can cause an increase of crime
through a range of negative emotions. For some people it can take a lot of willpower to take a
corrective action and try to deter away from committing crime in a way that they can relieve these
negative emotions. When people cannot cope with the stresses of the strain, they turn to crime as a
coping mechanism. Agnew also states, that not all people that experience the stresses of strain will go
forward to committing crime and live a deviant life.
Agnew assumes that all people of all social classes experience and deal with frustration when
experiencing a great amount of stress. The general strain theory bridges the gap between the poor and
the rich. The stresses of strain is a universal feeling that every individual experiences at some point in
time of their life.

Lenovo Competitive Advantage
3.1 Recommended Future strategic direction to attain competitive advantage
3.1.1 Proposed strategy
It is important for a company to choose a relevant internationalization strategy in order to attain
competitive advantage. According to Philip Kotler and Gary Armstrong, a company can attain
competitive advantage when the company is able to perform in one or more ways that competitors
cannot or will not match (Philip Kotler, Gary Armstrong, 2007, p182)
As Lenovo has been successfully internationalizing into other country by using joint venture and FDI
as their strategy, the new relevant proposed strategy that the company can use is direct exporting.
Direct exporting is considered relevant to be used by Lenovo because Lenovo can maximizes their
profit by cutting down cost in direct exporting by minimizing advertising, market research, and

As Lenovo wanted to attain competitive advantage through cost leadership strategy, they first have to
cut down their cost in order to be able to sell product with lower price. As the Lenovo is
manufacturing their product in China which is one of the low cost country in the world, they can
easily cut down their production cost there. Hence, the pressure of global integration in cost reduction
is identified there.
The advantages that global integration can give to Lenovo through cost leadership are that they can
help Lenovo to save costs and achieve global efficiencies. They can also improve the quality of
product and processes. High quality product promotes global brand recognition and gives rise to
customer preference and efficient international marketing programs. They create economies of scale,
which can result in lower operational costs, higher quality standardized product and homogenization

Contributions Of Zora Neale Hrston
The Harlem Renaissance was a time of a cultural explosion of music, theatre, art, and writing. Many
famous writers and musicians came from this time era. Among them being the now famed Zora Neale
Hurston, author of novels such as Their Eyes Were Watching God, Mules, and Men, and Dust Tracks
on a Road. The Harlem Renaissance was a time of rebirth for the silenced African Americans of the
1920s, and this was when many artists, performers, and writers found their voice.
Zora Neale Hurston
Zora was born January 7, 1891, and was an American novelist, short story writer, folklorist, and
anthropologist known for her contributions to African American literature. Her career took off around
the time of the Harlem Renaissance. Hurston influenced many great writers such as Ralph Ellison,
Alice Walker, and Toni Cade Bambara. According to Robert Hemenway s The Harlem Renaissance
Remembered, Hurston s purpose in writing was to ¨. Remind the Renaissance especially its more
bourgeois members of the richness of the racial heritage.¨ (zoranealehurston.com) As a young woman
Zora did not see herself as black.. or rather as colored, she merely saw herself as Zora. In her essay
¨How It Feels To Be Colored Me¨ Zora describes how she was just herself until the day she moved to

The American Colonies
There were many reasons why colonists would have decided to go to the colonies. Whichever region
they had chosen to live in had a different impact on them compared to the other regions, but still
changed them for the better, most at least. A portion of colonists were afraid of traveling to the New
World because of the possible dangers of natives. However in the colonies religious freedom, land,
and the riches that lie beneath were tempting for many, therefore the colonists had many motivations
to go and develop something new in the New World. Land may have been the overall reason for
colonists to leave England and head over to the colonies. What was the number one thing a colonists
needed to begin anything for themselves? Land. In England most colonists were peasants to the highly
wealthy with large farming areas. They were incapable of buying any land for themselves because of
its usual high prices which made it a lot harder for them to start something on their own, forcing them
to stay with the rich. What other choice would they have made when the great offer of cheap land was
right across the Atlantic. Go straight for it before their chance was taken away. Duh. Some colonists
even got their land for free by a colony. Once they had bought or received land, they finally took their
chance and made their own farms. This resulted in colonists producing more vegetables and food of
all kinds which had meant more money was being made by them. Which was one of

Dostoevsky’s Notes from Undergound
Dostoevsky s Notes from Undergound Reactions to an Overdeterministic Existence
Some of the works cited are missing
Dostoevsky presents his Notes from Undergound as the fragmented ramblings of an unnamed narrator.
On the surface, the character s narration appears disjointed and reaches no conclusive end ing until the
author intercedes to end the book. However, a close examination of the underground man s language
reveals a progression in his collected ravings. After expressing dissatisfaction with the notion of
determinism, the underground man perceives the irony of his ultra deterministic reality. Through his
narrative, the underground man discovers the truth about his predestined, fictional existence.

The underground man s rebellion against determinism and its consequences has become one of the
most famous moments in modern thought, and with good reason (196). Morson observes that,
although the underground man denounces a deterministic world, he still believes that he lives in one.
The underground man s resentment of determinism produces irony in that the underground man s true
existence as a fictional character epitomizes determinism, as
Morson contends. Morson articulates the irony, stating:
Here Dostoevsky makes shrewd use of metaliterary devices. For all of his struggles to be free, the
underground man is doubly determined, not only from within the narrative world but also from
without; not only by the iron logic of spite governing his actions but also by the fact that he is the
creation of someone who has plotted all his actions in advance. His world is not just deterministic but
overdeterministic. What Dostoevsky has done here is to make the very fact that the story is a story,
that it has a structure and has already been written, a sign of failed choice and futile self assertion
(199).
The underground man struggles against the idea that his actions have been pre determined, yet the
reader knows that the outcome has already been decided and already exists as words in coming
chapters. The character makes no conscious choice in his existence because the author controls his
thoughts and actions. Morson uses a story that

Why The United States Won The War Of 1812 Dbq
On July 18, 1812, the United States declared war on Great Britain which started the War of 1812. The
war began because of a military conflict between the United States and Great Britain. The war lasted
from 1812 to 1814. The War started when the colony of Great Britain and Canada, got invaded by the
Americans. The war was fought in many different places such as, Upper Canada, Lower Canada, on
the Great Lakes, the Atlantic, and in the U.S. The war was a big dispute between the U.S. and the
British Empire. The British limited the American trade system because they were afraid it would be
damaging to their war with France. They also wanted to have an Indian state in parts of the Midwest.
They wanted to do this to maintain their influence in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the issues of rights were not determined in the peace treaty, the war was considered a failure.
However, the Americans had some impressive victories at sea, which gave them the potential of
becoming an American power (i.e., footnote 1). The war was definitely a failure for the War Hawks,
who desired to invade Canada. The war proved that this was not doable for their military to do. In
conclusion, the war was a war of honor and respect and not to be judged (i.e., footnote 1).
The War of 1812 had a big effect on America and how the world viewed the developing nation.
America was now viewed as a nation that was strong and capable to endure two wars with the British

Satire In Modern Society
Beyond the humor, satire can foreshadow many aspect of the issues that are currently happening in the
modern society. Humans see satire as a form of perception, and within that perception is irony, humor,
and exaggeration of many events currently happening. Furthermore, satire a tool to challenge and
expose many popular ideas, and events. Satire is presented through many topics, events that had and is
happening. Nevertheless, satire can persuade humans to change their opinions on diverse topics, and
their ideal image of something. For example, satire cartoons may be humorous, but it can be a real eye
opener, a great awakening for humans. Within the cartoons, it gives a clear perspective and
understanding of what they re trying to convey to

Paranoid Schizophrenia Research Paper
Schizophrenia is a chronic and severe mental that affects how a person thinks, feels, and behaves. It is
a condition that requires lifelong treatment for people with schizophrenia. It is a serious condition

starts to become more real to them. They have problems concentrating, having memory, and lack of
emotion. Doctors do not completely know the causes of this disorder, researchers are still on the job
trying to find out. Many people with this disorder live in a private inner world with their own
imagination. It is know to be called a split mind which means multiple personality split but the mind

Shakespeare s Heart Of Darkness
Relevance of Heart of Darkness
Alexander Spirovski
LITR 211
Professor David Auchter
Joseph Conrad s Heart of Darkness contains both relevant and irrelevant elements to today s society.
Issues present in the text such as imperialism, racism, and moral ambiguity are still present today but
their formats have changed enough in society that Heart of Darkness approaches obsolescence in
perspective. Concurrently, the characters and theme presented in Heart of Darkness are scarce in
fictional British literature therefore allowing this book to remain quite relevant. As we read more
books, our ability to form informed opinions increases.
Imperialism in Heart of Darkness is prompted by pursuit of natural resources such as ivory under the
guise of the benevolent deed of civilizing primitive savage tribes of Africa. What occurs is the
widespread enslavement of Africans by Europeans via forced labor, physical beatings, chained
bondage, and denial of basic necessities such as food, clothing, and medicine, as seen here:
Six black men advanced in a file, toiling up the path. They walked erect and slow, balancing small
baskets full of earth on their heads, and the clink kept time with their footsteps. Black rags were
wound round their loins, and the short ends behind waggled to and fro like tails. I could see every rib,
the joints of their limbs were like knots in a rope; each had an iron collar on his neck, and all were
connected together with a chain whose bights swung between

Social Aggression Analysis
Victims of social aggression suffer from extreme loneliness that comes with social isolation. There
social interactions with peers often is limited to unpleasant, forced interactions used to put on a good
face in front of overlooking adults. Caroline was a bright, bubbly child who had little difficulty
making friends before social isolating behaviors were directed her way (Bright, 2005). Due to limited
supplies and the collaborative nature of lab work in science classes, student spend a great deal of time

past experiences, and immediate context.
― L. Todd Rose Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder also known as ADHD refers to a syndrome
in which some combination of hyperactivity, impulsivity and difficulty with concentration or attention
is severe enough to cause significant difficulties in a child s life. Many people with this disorder are
unable to sit still, finish tasks, plan ahead or be fully aware of what is going on around them. Everyone

The scientist used a technique that demonstrated a link between a person s ability to pay continued
attention and the level of activity in the brain. The investigators found important differences between
people who have ADHD and those who don t. In people that have ADHD, the brain areas that control
attention used less glucose, indicating that they were less active. It appears from the research that a
lower level of activity in some parts of the brain may cause inattention (Matthews, 2002). However,
scientist at NIMH and other research institutions did research on why there is less activity in the areas
of the brain that control attention. They were tracking clues to determine what might prevent nerve
cells from forming the proper connections. The factors that they were studying included drug use
during pregnancy, toxins and genetics. Research shows that a mother s use of cigarettes, alcohol and
other drugs during pregnancy may have damaging effects on the unborn child s developing brain

The American Legion s Product Development By Implementing...
Strategic Alternatives The few strategies that I suggest that the American legion begins to use are to
attempt product development by implementing social media as a marketing tool. By using social
media as a huge part of the marketing this allows the American Legion to see exactly how many
people are viewing their ads. It also gives them the chance to customize who they exactly want to
target. This can allow for less old school marketing such as magazines, post cards, newspapers, or ads
which all of these allowed the Legion to waste of lot of money per year on them. As I have stressed
many times throughout this paper, the net assets have been cut in over half in the last four years alone.

Strategy Choice and Rationale If the American Legion reached out to their competitors such as
collaborating with the Wounded Warriors Project, Disables American Veterans (DAV), Veterans of
Foreign Wars (VFW), or the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) would be effectively embracing
trade offs with offering something to other organizations as well effectively gaining something from
other organizations as well. I would love to see the American Legion get together with all of these
organizations, putting a large event on, have a few celebrities show up as well and really put the
American Legion on the map and leveraging other outlets than just their own endeavors. Having a
strategy of strategies is crucial especially at the tipping point of where the Legion is as a whole; in
class we have discussed many great ideas as a small group of individuals with business mindsets, as
outsiders and some from younger generations are able to put our twist on the Strategies of the
American Legion and pinpoint both the strengths and weaknesses. The Legion needs to have a plan to
execute these strategies and roll them out and act on them.

terms of the questions are justified in the following. Critical questions 1.Why the vessels price that

Marine use to avoid the risk of increasing fuels price? 4.Why Meli Marine choose to deepen its vessel

critical questions 1.This question aims to identify the underlying assumption and consider whether it is
really acceptable. People intend to estimate or assess before making decision, which may result in
estimating and forecasting traps.(Hammond, Keeney and Raiffa 1998)If seller gives price lower than

Summary Of The Scarlet Ibis By James Hurst
Storms and Sorrow
It s strange that all this is still so clear to me, now that summer has long since fled and time has had its
way, ( Hurst 595). James Hurst s short story The Scarlet Ibis is full of symbolism. The use of
symbolism does a great deal to add to the tone of the story by allowing large concepts to be depicted
simply and subtlety, such as the characters emotions and the misfortune that befalls Doodle. The
symbols that James Hurst uses range from the colors of the settings the characters are in to the scarlet
ibis from which the book draws its name, with many others in between. By far the most important
symbol Hurst uses is the ibis, because not only does it foreshadow the death of Doodle and his
determination to survive, but shows that both it and Doodle were thrust into worlds where they were
incapable to live and thrive. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield, Ohio. The film is an enthralling film about the survival of one
of its prisoners, Andy Dufresne, the protagonist convicted to life imprisonment in Shawshank prison
during 1947. Facing incarceration, Andy s character as a city banker forms a relationship with a prison
inmate Red to fight despair. Darabont uses film techniques such as camera work, soundtrack and
lighting and colour to present the main theme of hope. The theme of hope intentionally revealed is that
the hope of identity are the key to redemption as the prisoners confront institutionalism . Hope can be

character sent to prison due to the murder of his wife and her lover. During the opening scenes the
directors convince the audience that the character of Andy Dufresne is as a pleasant man. This shows
that the audience expectations are defeated because the audience would not suspect a man like Andy

the sisters but as Andy is approached to be calm character he approaches the situation with intellect

Devil In The White City Nonfiction
This book is boring. This book is full of facts. I fell asleep reading this book. These are the nonfiction
genre stereotypes that most people think. Erik Larson changed that stereotype and wrote a nonfiction
book with real characters and overall facts. The Devil in the White City does not only tell an
elaborating true story, but it tries to grab the reader to believe that they are actually living in 1893
during the Chicago World s Fair trials and tribulations. To tell this story, Larson combines qualities of
a nonfiction book and a generic novel to successfully craft a narrative built on historical facts,
therefore developing distinct persons in the cases and elaborating on what their possible feelings were.
The Devil in the White City is extended biographies of Daniel Burnham and H.H. Holmes that show
the hectic troubles that happened during the World s Fair in the nineteenth century. Novels tell
fictional stories with fictional characters. Instead of making up a story, Larson emphasizes Burnham
and Holmes true stories. Anyone could have wrote about the Exposition, but that would have been a
bore. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Benefits Of Free College Education
Having a high school diploma is no longer sufficient to guarantee jobs for many Americans. Soaring
tuition fees and other factors, like dorming, are making attending college nearly impossible for people
in the lower class. This results in them ending up in debt after graduation or not attending college at
all. Implementing free education for all students and ensuring they have equal opportunities to reach
their maximum potential is a human right. To fulfill this right, the government needs to provide an
option that will make higher education more affordable. If college was accessible to students of all
social and economical backgrounds, it would have a significant and beneficial impact nationwide.
When Bernie Sanders first proposed his plan during the 2016 presidential race to eliminate tuition and
fees for students attending public universities, his plan resonated with many young American voters. It
also sparked a national debate over whether free tuition is the way to go if the ultimate goal is to
improve college access and affordability for students from low and middle income families and
ultimately end student debt. President Barack Obama proposed to make two years of community
college free for students across America, and New York s government introduced a tuition free college
program through the Excelsior Scholarship program. However, while these proposals seemed
beneficial, many experts have examined these proposals and their views are very different from one

The Positive And Negative Aspects Of Social Networks
here are many different opinions to social networks. Some think it is stupid to share every single
thought with the world even if it is very unnecessary, some think that it is the best way to tell your
friends what you are doing or to see what they are going to do. People and society is always fighting
about whether there are more risks or useful opportunities. Social networking to some extent help
people faster recognition for the world. For example, social networking increases communicate with
family in other cities. Then you can learned more things, and it strengthens relationships. When social
networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and MySpace were introduced to our society, our social
interaction has positive and negative influences in people s life.
A positive of social networks is that you can stay in touch with your friends and family from all
around the world. So, you can send them a picture or post some funny videos on their wall to make
them see it. For example, if your son or your daughter is living maybe somewhere in the US and
he/she has a child that you are barely seeing in Austria, it s wonderful to have a social network like
Facebook, where you see some new photographs and some important information about your proper
grandchild s childhood.
Another huge benefit is that if you press like or follow on pages or blogs that you are interested to,
you always get the newest piece of information and you always be up to date. Also, you know about

My Experience At St. Xavier s Social Service Center
As a part of curriculum, every student of my high school has to do 100 hours to community service

assigned to work at St. Xavier s Social Service Center whose primary target was to help children who
lost their parents during civil war. I still remember the first day of my social service. As soon as I
entered the social service center, I was in a huge hall where more than 30 children were studying. The
hall had nothing but a thin carpet. Everyone was so surprised to see a new face. I introduced myself
and said that I was there to help them with their studies. After few minutes of ice breaker, everyone
continued with their works. After roaming for some time and helping some children with their work, I
saw a little boy in the middle of the hall. His feet was covered with a blanket. He seemed confused. I
went to him and asked if he had any problems. He was shy at first, but after sometime he told me that
he had problems solving his mathematics homework. I helped him and stayed with him until he
completed everything. He was quite a talented guy. He grabbed the concepts quickly. After an hour, it
was time for him to go to his school. He signaled one of his friend something. After few minutes, his
friend showed up with a wheel chair. This was when I realized that the kid didn t have his left leg. I

The Search for Truth in Anton Chekhov s The Cherry...
The scholar is engaged in the interminable quest for truth. The knowledge that one can never
understand everything makes a person wise. Ignorance is the assumption that one can understand all
about the world around them. An ignorant person is so confident they comprehend the truth, that they
are blind to the greater truth. Anton Chekhov and Sophocles deal with the idea of this sinful pride that
leads to ignorance in their respective works, The Cherry Orchard and Oedipus Rex. In each drama,
certain characters are slapped in the face with the truth; the light is revealed. However, these
characters make the connection when it is too late. Their destruction is already destined to become a
reality, a horrid fate that could have been prevented. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The timing of the chorus plea as Oedipus enters the stage clearly demonstrates that Oedipus is the man
whom he seeks, the murderer of the king. The truth of the play is revealed, yet Oedipus remains
ignorant.
Chekhov also makes use of a symbol to represent truth in his play. In The Cherry Orchard, the
Ranevskayas are an aristocratic family that squander away their final days at their beloved cherry
orchard. It shall soon be auctioned off, yet the family merely sits about and engages in meaningless
chatter. They assume that everything shall be taken care of, the way it always has been in their lives.
However, there is one man who seems to be above the careless atmosphere that surrounds him
Lopakhin, the hard working son of generations of peasants. This man of great ambition represents
truth. The truth that Chekhov reveals in the play is the emerging changes in the Russian social
structure. The industrious middle class is on the rise, and the lazy aristocracy is doomed to fade away.
In the end, Lopakhin buys the cherry orchard, which is the estate where [his] father and grandfather
were slaves (Chekhov 366). The cherry orchard was the security, the wealth, and the power of the
aristocracy; it is bought by a merchant, the son of peasants. Could the aristocracy not see what was
happening, or did they choose to remain ignorant? By constructing summer cottages, the Ranevskaya
family could have prevented the loss of the beloved

The Effects of Vladimir Lenin on Russia
Weak and unstable in its revolution and a battle on the Eastern Front, Communism weeded its way
into Russia and changed the lives of millions of people. Under the influence of Lenin and his
principles events such as the Red Terror, overall famine, and slave labor camps became the country s
reality. Russia participation in the war may have been stopped, but the consequences were much
greater. However, this could have never happened without Germany s interference in the February

To the Bolsheviks disappointment, the new government kept Russian involvement in The Great War
and the two front war stayed persistent for Germany. With Lenin seeking passage into Russia and the
government showing no intention of letting him, it wasn t until Germany s financial support that he
able to sneak into the country via train.
The effects that Lenin s arrival first had on the Bolsheviks party began with the weakening of the
provisional government, primarily ending Russia s fight in the war. Lenin had been gathering
supporters since the 1890s with those apart of the forces in the war, alongside other supporters,
travelling worldwide and spreading his word of Marxist ideals and a Russia that was no longer
wrapped up in World War One. It wasn t long before he garnered enough manpower to seize control
and caused a great deal of uproar when he had turned the Russian Army against the Russian
provisional government to completely wash Prime Minister Kerensky out. After seizing railroad
stations, telegraph lines, and government offices, and subsequently sending out the people elected

Flaws Of The Islamic Religion
Flaws In The Islamic Religion By Kyle Lindsey
Apologetics, Mr. Sweis
July 2015
Part 1: Thesis In 1900, the world was made up of 12.3 % Muslims. In 2010, The number rose to
22.5% making Islam the fastest growing religion in the entire world, exceeding even the growth rate
of Christianity. The American Muslim Council has estimated that there are 2,000 mosques and Islamic
community centers in the United States. More than 80% percent have been built in the past 12 years.
Is it possible then that Islam, such an attractive and fast growing religion, can be completely flawed?
Yes, the religion of Islam is filled with historical, scientific, and most importantly spiritual flaws.
Answering this question is important because people are becoming more and more blind to the truth of
the Christian religion by the rapid growth of Islam. Outlining the flaws of Islam also helps to bring out
the accuracy of the Christian religion.
How is it possible that Islam, the fastest growing religion, is so full of errors? Islam is growing so
rapidly because many of its followers are unaware of the extent of its corruption, and many of its
followers are equally unaware of how many errors can be found throughout the Quran. One way to
show people the flaws in Islam is by slowly picking it apart and in so doing, the person is able to more
clearly see the errors and parts of the Quran that do not match up with facts of history and

Pavlov s Classical Conditioning Vs. Operant Conditioning
Pavlov s Classical Conditioning vs. B.F. Skinner s Operant Conditioning
Bhavika D. Patel
Atlantic Community College
Abstract
Ivan Pavlov and B.F. Skinner both studied learning, in which they both did different experiments on
different animals and with different conditioning. Classical conditioning is the process in which two
stimuli become linked; once this association has been recognized, an originally neutral stimulus is
conditioned to provoke an involuntary response. The dogs in Pavlov s studies learned to associate
countless stimuli with the expectation of food, which caused in them salivating when the stimuli were
presented. Pavlov revealed how such associations are learned, and referred to this process as
conditioning. While the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The assistant s footsteps, for example, seemed to act like a trigger (the stimulus) for the dog to start
salivating (the response). Pavlov had discovered how associations develop through the process of
learning, which he referred to as conditioning (Licht, 2016) The dog was correlating the sound of
footsteps with the coming of food; it had been conditioned to subordinate certain sights and sounds
with eating. Intrigued by his discovery, Pavlov decided to focus his research of dogs salivation (which
he termed psychic secretions ) in these types of scenarios (Fancher Rutherford, 2012, p. 248; Watson,
1968). Pavlov s examinations led to the development of classical conditioning.
Conditioned Response Experiment
To prove the process of classical conditioning Pavlov had created a basic research plan. Pavlov had
followed up to his observation and examining the connection between stimulus and response. Pavlov
has concluded that the type of behavior he was studying was involuntary or reflexive salivating when
there is food is universal, whereas the connection of sound and footsteps and salivating is learned.
Pavlov basically states that the sound of footsteps is the stimulus and salivation is the response, which
occur during learning.
Pavlov experiments led him to surgically insert a tube into the dog s cheek to allow a proper collection
of saliva. The tube was led to a measuring device which Pavlov used to calculate exactly how much

  • 3. Video Games And Computer Games Essay Computer and Video Games: Friends Needed Video games have existed for much longer than many young people are aware. For example, an individual would need to be over the age of 50 to remember the first time arcade games were available for play in a bowling alley or inside the entertainment building of a miniature golf course. Similarly, an age requirement of 40 would be required for a person to remember the first release of the Atari, which was usually seen at a friend s home, or to remember the first complex games available on a computer (for example, The Sims). With a history of decades, computer and video games have influenced generations. Although many experts and doctors have argued otherwise, computer and video games usage doesn t encourage or cause violent behavior; rather, participation in computer/video games encourages positive social interaction and strengthens problem solving skills. Computer games have taken the blame for many national tragedies, including Columbine and Sandy Hook; however, in the 1970s, rock music was blamed for many violent acts by teenagers, including suicide. Instead of delving into their child s psychological status or the quality of his/her home life, parents look around for any other reason for their child s violent behavior that won t require them to take the blame for the child s actions. Even the parents of children who weren t involved exhibit his behavior; the reason could be that it gives comfort for people to think, My child ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 1917, during Nicholas II s contradictory reign, a revolution began that transformed the empire into the first ever communist nation, replacing the infamous autocratic rule and introducing the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. The Russian people were ruled by an autocratic government since 1613 when the Romanov Dynasty began. The government was run by the Tsar who had unlimited power over the rest of Russia. The Tsar set up a system of government involving an imperial council, a small cabinet of ministers and a senate; all of which were implemented as personal advisers and delegates. The Tsar had control over who was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By 1916, dissatisfaction within Russian monarch had reached boiling point. Rasputin was murdered by the Tsar s own cousins and the majority of the parliament and upper classes were no longer willing to meet expectations of loyalty, respect and patriotism. Even though the Russian Revolution transpired quite suddenly, the foundations of it may have started centuries earlier. Since the 1700s, the ideas of European regime had begun to influence the minds of Russian citizens. Lower classes began to believe in democratic rights and equality, newspapers and books spread concepts about universal rights and many believed in a future with a just ruler and a more cultured society. From the 1800s, the Russian monarchy gradually became weaker and increasingly fragile. After the death of Alexander I in 1825, a group of Decembrists made up of thousands of soldiers seized advantage of a succession issue and demanded reforms plus a written constitution. This displayed a hint of light and prompted many to rethink the government system and their place within the hierarchy. Then after the death of Nicholas I in 1855, Alexander II rose to power and was referred to as the great liberator after emancipating the Russian serfs in 1861. While the act earned Alexander public affection and respect, it angered landowners, created an economic crisis and also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Stand With Texas Women By Wendy Davis On July 1, 2013, Texas Senator Wendy Davis made a speech at Texas s State Capitol. She had an audience of about 5,000 people, as she spoke about Women s Rights and Texan power. In Stand with Texas Women , Wendy Davis argues that Texas is all about fairness, so women deserve equal opportunity. Specifically, Davis states that Texas has pushed to be fair, but politicians have been selfish in their careers. Her point is that creating equal opportunity for women will help not only Texan families, but Texas as a whole. She also points out that Texas needs politicians who want what is best for the state and the people. Davis uses her Texas pride as an advantage in her speech. She argued for certain regulations, such as fighting for abortion to be banned after 20 weeks of pregnancy. Unfortunately, she failed to prove her point to the Senate. In her speech at the rally on July 1, 2013, she talks about the previous filibuster and she called it the crux of a turning point in Texas History . The importance of the date of the Stand with Texas Women speech is that it was only a few days after her filibuster in the Senate. It was beneficial for her to be able to further the points from the filibuster, by talking directly to the Texas women and men who attended the rally. As she stood in front of 5,000 men and women at the Texas Capitol, she had a much larger audience than expected. Her speech targeted women and men wanting a better life for them and their families, and they were there to hear what she had to say. During the weekend before she spoke, Rick Perry accused her of not learning her lesson because she is a single mother (Koh, Luthra, Abortion Rights Activists Descend on Capitol ). He was pushing her to a limit that she did not appreciate. Therefore, she attacked him in her speech by stating, I was lucky enough to be able to make the choices in my life that I knew would work for me. As a pharmacist, he questioned whether the bill s safeguards were enough to prevent coercion... and whether it would attract suicide tourism ( Marx 2015, para. 5). The Assembly Health Committee and Senator Jeff Stone should be aware that the End of Life Option Action is modeled after the Death with Dignity Laws of Oregon. This law has been set in place for 17 years in Oregon and as worked as it was intended. This is a precise subject that outlines an area of interest to me that I would like to learn more about. My original idea was sleep disorders, and I narrowed it down to a specific disorder. After that, I made it even more precise by pinpointing a specific idea in regards to this topic. I would begin searching for sources for this research topic on the Herzing University website in the library section. This library has several reliable databases that can be used to search for foundations of information. Several of these databases include health , medical , or wellness right in the title. It would be wise to use these databases to search for information about this specific topic rather than a more general database because the more precise databases will usually give more accurate results. The League was created and introduced by President Woodrow Wilson of the United States of America along with his Fourteen Points, a plan listing terms which he believed must be comprised in the Peace Treaty of Versailles which would bring an end to World War I. Many nations were members of the League, and it did help resolve certain issues, but unfortunately, there were quite as many failures as there were triumphs. Eventually though, the League failed and led to World War II, only to be replaced by the United Nations in 1946. The League of Nations, meant to be a strong power and keep peace with all nations who were members, was only a weak and virtually power less organization. President Woodrow Wilson created the League of Nations and used his immense influence to attempt to achieve its success. • 17. The Theory Of General Strain Theory Essay Introduction In the 1980 s, Criminologist, Robert Agnew, presented his theory of general strain, in which he covers a range of negative behaviors, especially how adolescents deal with stresses of strain. General strain theory focuses on the source, such as anything that changes in the individual s life that causes strain. His theory provides a different outlook on social control and social learning theory for two reasons: the type of social relationship that leads to delinquency and the motivation for the delinquency (Agnew, 1992). He states that certain strains and stresses increase the likelihood for crime such as economic deprivation, child abuse, and discrimination. These factors can cause an increase of crime through a range of negative emotions. For some people it can take a lot of willpower to take a corrective action and try to deter away from committing crime in a way that they can relieve these negative emotions. When people cannot cope with the stresses of the strain, they turn to crime as a coping mechanism. Agnew also states, that not all people that experience the stresses of strain will go forward to committing crime and live a deviant life. Agnew assumes that all people of all social classes experience and deal with frustration when experiencing a great amount of stress. The general strain theory bridges the gap between the poor and the rich. The stresses of strain is a universal feeling that every individual experiences at some point in time of their life. ... In England most colonists were peasants to the highly wealthy with large farming areas. They were incapable of buying any land for themselves because of its usual high prices which made it a lot harder for them to start something on their own, forcing them to stay with the rich. The underground man s rebellion against determinism and its consequences has become one of the most famous moments in modern thought, and with good reason (196). Morson observes that, although the underground man denounces a deterministic world, he still believes that he lives in one. The underground man s resentment of determinism produces irony in that the underground man s true existence as a fictional character epitomizes determinism, as Morson contends. Morson articulates the irony, stating: Here Dostoevsky makes shrewd use of metaliterary devices. For all of his struggles to be free, the underground man is doubly determined, not only from within the narrative world but also from without; not only by the iron logic of spite governing his actions but also by the fact that he is the creation of someone who has plotted all his actions in advance. His world is not just deterministic but overdeterministic. What Dostoevsky has done here is to make the very fact that the story is a story, that it has a structure and has already been written, a sign of failed choice and futile self assertion (199). The underground man struggles against the idea that his actions have been pre determined, yet the reader knows that the outcome has already been decided and already exists as words in coming chapters. Concurrently, the characters and theme presented in Heart of Darkness are scarce in fictional British literature therefore allowing this book to remain quite relevant. Critical questions 1.Why the vessels price that Teeh Sah gives is considered to be attractive ? 2.As intra Asia and Asia North America shipping business is busy, What kind of port is suitable for vessels to dock? 3.What counter strategy can Meli Marine use to avoid the risk of increasing fuels price? 4.Why Meli Marine choose to deepen its vessel operations rather than developing the container shipping value chain? 5.In order to maintain the profit margin, what kind of actions can Meli adopt? Justification and discussion of relative effectiveness of critical questions 1.This question aims to identify the underlying assumption and consider whether it is really acceptable. People intend to estimate or assess before making decision, which may result in estimating and forecasting traps.(Hammond, Keeney and Raiffa 1998)If seller gives price lower than buyer s expectation, it is easy to be considered as a favorable price, regardless of the original price. • 31. Summary Of The Scarlet Ibis By James Hurst Storms and Sorrow It s strange that all this is still so clear to me, now that summer has long since fled and time has had its way, ( Hurst 595). James Hurst s short story The Scarlet Ibis is full of symbolism. The use of symbolism does a great deal to add to the tone of the story by allowing large concepts to be depicted simply and subtlety, such as the characters emotions and the misfortune that befalls Doodle. The symbols that James Hurst uses range from the colors of the settings the characters are in to the scarlet ibis from which the book draws its name, with many others in between. By far the most important symbol Hurst uses is the ibis, because not only does it foreshadow the death of Doodle and his determination to survive, but shows that both it and Doodle were thrust into worlds where they were incapable to live and thrive. ... It s a nonfiction book about a boy named David Pelzer who is abused for several years by his mother Catherine. This child was mistreated and beaten constantly just because his mother thought it was a game. She even called her son It instead of David. • 34. Devil In The White City Nonfiction This book is boring. This book is full of facts. I fell asleep reading this book. These are the nonfiction genre stereotypes that most people think. Erik Larson changed that stereotype and wrote a nonfiction book with real characters and overall facts. The Devil in the White City does not only tell an elaborating true story, but it tries to grab the reader to believe that they are actually living in 1893 during the Chicago World s Fair trials and tribulations. To tell this story, Larson combines qualities of a nonfiction book and a generic novel to successfully craft a narrative built on historical facts, therefore developing distinct persons in the cases and elaborating on what their possible feelings were. The Devil in the White City is extended biographies of Daniel Burnham and H.H. Holmes that show the hectic troubles that happened during the World s Fair in the nineteenth century. Novels tell fictional stories with fictional characters. Instead of making up a story, Larson emphasizes Burnham and Holmes true stories. Anyone could have wrote about the Exposition, but that would have been a bore. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 35. Benefits Of Free College Education Having a high school diploma is no longer sufficient to guarantee jobs for many Americans. Soaring tuition fees and other factors, like dorming, are making attending college nearly impossible for people in the lower class. This results in them ending up in debt after graduation or not attending college at all. Implementing free education for all students and ensuring they have equal opportunities to reach their maximum potential is a human right. To fulfill this right, the government needs to provide an option that will make higher education more affordable. If college was accessible to students of all social and economical backgrounds, it would have a significant and beneficial impact nationwide. When Bernie Sanders first proposed his plan during the 2016 presidential race to eliminate tuition and fees for students attending public universities, his plan resonated with many young American voters. It also sparked a national debate over whether free tuition is the way to go if the ultimate goal is to improve college access and affordability for students from low and middle income families and ultimately end student debt. President Barack Obama proposed to make two years of community college free for students across America, and New York s government introduced a tuition free college program through the Excelsior Scholarship program. Every student is assigned to a social service organization. In the same way, I was assigned to work at St. Xavier s Social Service Center whose primary target was to help children who lost their parents during civil war. I still remember the first day of my social service. As soon as I entered the social service center, I was in a huge hall where more than 30 children were studying. The hall had nothing but a thin carpet. Everyone was so surprised to see a new face. I introduced myself and said that I was there to help them with their studies. After few minutes of ice breaker, everyone continued with their works. After roaming for some time and helping some children with their work, I saw a little boy in the middle of the hall. His feet was covered with a blanket. He seemed confused. I went to him and asked if he had any problems. He was shy at first, but after sometime he told me that he had problems solving his mathematics homework. I helped him and stayed with him until he completed everything. He was quite a talented guy. He grabbed the concepts quickly. After an hour, it was time for him to go to his school. He signaled one of his friend something. After few minutes, his friend showed up with a wheel chair. This was when I realized that the kid didn t have his left leg. I was surprised and shocked. After everyone left, I talked to the supervisor ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. The Search for Truth in Anton Chekhov s The Cherry... The scholar is engaged in the interminable quest for truth. The knowledge that one can never understand everything makes a person wise. Ignorance is the assumption that one can understand all about the world around them. An ignorant person is so confident they comprehend the truth, that they are blind to the greater truth. Anton Chekhov and Sophocles deal with the idea of this sinful pride that leads to ignorance in their respective works, The Cherry Orchard and Oedipus Rex. In each drama, certain characters are slapped in the face with the truth; the light is revealed. However, these characters make the connection when it is too late. Their destruction is already destined to become a reality, a horrid fate that could have been prevented. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The timing of the chorus plea as Oedipus enters the stage clearly demonstrates that Oedipus is the man whom he seeks, the murderer of the king. The truth of the play is revealed, yet Oedipus remains ignorant. Chekhov also makes use of a symbol to represent truth in his play. In The Cherry Orchard, the Ranevskayas are an aristocratic family that squander away their final days at their beloved cherry orchard. It shall soon be auctioned off, yet the family merely sits about and engages in meaningless chatter. They assume that everything shall be taken care of, the way it always has been in their lives. However, there is one man who seems to be above the careless atmosphere that surrounds him Lopakhin, the hard working son of generations of peasants. This man of great ambition represents truth. The truth that Chekhov reveals in the play is the emerging changes in the Russian social structure. The industrious middle class is on the rise, and the lazy aristocracy is doomed to fade away. In the end, Lopakhin buys the cherry orchard, which is the estate where [his] father and grandfather were slaves (Chekhov 366). The cherry orchard was the security, the wealth, and the power of the aristocracy; it is bought by a merchant, the son of peasants. • 41. Flaws Of The Islamic Religion Flaws In The Islamic Religion By Kyle Lindsey Apologetics, Mr. Sweis July 2015 Part 1: Thesis In 1900, the world was made up of 12.3 % Muslims. In 2010, The number rose to 22.5% making Islam the fastest growing religion in the entire world, exceeding even the growth rate of Christianity. The American Muslim Council has estimated that there are 2,000 mosques and Islamic community centers in the United States. More than 80% percent have been built in the past 12 years. Is it possible then that Islam, such an attractive and fast growing religion, can be completely flawed? Yes, the religion of Islam is filled with historical, scientific, and most importantly spiritual flaws. Answering this question is important because people are becoming more and more blind to the truth of the Christian religion by the rapid growth of Islam. Outlining the flaws of Islam also helps to bring out the accuracy of the Christian religion. How is it possible that Islam, the fastest growing religion, is so full of errors? Islam is growing so rapidly because many of its followers are unaware of the extent of its corruption, and many of its followers are equally unaware of how many errors can be found throughout the Quran. One way to show people the flaws in Islam is by slowly picking it apart and in so doing, the person is able to more clearly see the errors and parts of the Quran that do not match up with facts of history and ... Patel Atlantic Community College Abstract Ivan Pavlov and B.F. Skinner both studied learning, in which they both did different experiments on different animals and with different conditioning. Classical conditioning is the process in which two stimuli become linked; once this association has been recognized, an originally neutral stimulus is conditioned to provoke an involuntary response. The dogs in Pavlov s studies learned to associate countless stimuli with the expectation of food, which caused in them salivating when the stimuli were presented. Pavlov revealed how such associations are learned, and referred to this process as conditioning. While the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The assistant s footsteps, for example, seemed to act like a trigger (the stimulus) for the dog to start salivating (the response). Pavlov had discovered how associations develop through the process of learning, which he referred to as conditioning (Licht, 2016) The dog was correlating the sound of footsteps with the coming of food; it had been conditioned to subordinate certain sights and sounds with eating. Intrigued by his discovery, Pavlov decided to focus his research of dogs salivation (which he termed psychic secretions ) in these types of scenarios (Fancher Rutherford, 2012, p. 248; Watson, 1968). Pavlov s examinations led to the development of classical conditioning. Conditioned Response Experiment To prove the process of classical conditioning Pavlov had created a basic research plan. Pavlov had followed up to his observation and examining the connection between stimulus and response. Pavlov has concluded that the type of behavior he was studying was involuntary or reflexive salivating when there is food is universal, whereas the connection of sound and footsteps and salivating is learned. Pavlov basically states that the sound of footsteps is the stimulus and salivation is the response, which occur during learning. Pavlov experiments led him to surgically insert a tube into the dog s cheek to allow a proper collection of saliva. The tube was led to a measuring device which Pavlov used to calculate exactly how much the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
