in the City. As of 2014, based on data provided by the Coalition for the Homeless, there are
59,246 people sleeping in shelters. It costs the City $3,500 a month to house a homeless person,
adding up to $856 million a year. There are thousands more who sleep on the streets, but due to
lack of data we are not sure of the exact number. Shelters only provide a temporary solution; on
average a person is allowed to stay in a shelter for a maximum of 180 days. How can that individual
/family regain their self sufficiency in a city where the rent is amongst the highest in the country,
and affordable housingis limited. Nearly half of all New York Cityresidents pay more than 30
percent of their income on housing. Median rents have risen 75 percent since 2000, at the same
time, that median incomes have declined, and between 1994 and 2012, the city lost 105,242 of
rent regulated housing. To address this problem, and restore these people sense of citizenship, we
need a citywide reform of the housing system.

Abstract
This paper presents a comparison of mechanical properties of 17 4PH stainless steel parts built by
selective laser melting (SLM) additive manufacturing process with the wrought 17 4PH stainless
steel parts. The microstructure is analyzed using optical microscope and the mechanical properties
are evaluated using tensile testing according to ASTM E8 standard. Overall, the SLM fabricated
samples demonstrated superior tensile properties and the microstructure is strongly influenced by
the SLM process. The SLM processed specimens showed higher ductility and ultimate tensile
strength than wrought samples.

General Gage to General Carleton after the battles at Lexington and Concord. The letter took far too
long to get to General Carleton. General Gage had credible human intelligence suggesting that the
colonists wanted to take Fort Ticonderoga. While one understands that one must use the chain of
command, one would think the immediacy of the letter was far more important and should have
gone directly to Fort Ticonderoga, instead of the 10 day long ride to Montreal. And even if that
was not proper protocol, General Gage could have at least sent an advisor with knowledge of
surveillance techniques to Fort Ticonderoga to aid in their post and give better forewarning of a

not have been much of an American Revolution. The cavalry scouts would have picked up the trail

reconnaissance and then reported back to the garrison commander, putting the whole fort on guard.
Then the garrison commander could have contacted both the British sloop in Lake Champlain and
the garrison at Fort Crown Point for further aid and reinforcements, beating back the patriot
