The Equal Opportunity Within A Work Place, The Pregnancy...
Introduction
Before we dive into this topic of human resources, let s define it. Human Resource can be defined
as the division of the company that is focused on activities relating to employees. These activities
normally include recruiting and hiring new employees, orientation and training current employees,
employee benefits, and retention. Throughout this paper I will discuss the Equal Opportunity
within a work place, the Pregnancy Discrimination Act, Privacy Polices within a work place, and
Sexual Harassment within a workplace.
Equal Opportunity Laws
Title VII
The first aspect of Human Resource that will be addressed is equal opportunity and the laws
that provide for it. There were several equal opportunity laws enacted from 1964 to 1991. The
first of these was Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act which states that an employer cannot
discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, or national original with respect to
employment (Dessler, 2013). Title VII applies to employers with 15 or more employees, including
state and local governments. It also applies to employment agencies and to labor organizations, as
well as to the federal government.
Title VII also prohibits employment decisions based on stereotypes and assumptions about abilities,
traits, or the performance of individuals of certain racial groups. According to Society for Human
Resource Management, it states that, possible criminal practices include soliciting applications only

Analysis Of Truman Capote s The Novel Cold Blood
Real crime or true story is a recently denomination term used to refer to nonfictional acting of actual
crimes, usually murders. There has been little methodical study of the genre; critics and scholars
offer contradictory theories about true crime literature. Although the term and the popularity of the
genre are relatively new, factual accounts of crimes are not. True crime accounts date back as far as
the 18th century, and such writers as Edmund Pearson, William Roughead, and Jonathan Goodman
described the exploits of criminals earlier in the twentieth century. Critics agree that Truman Capote
s In Cold Bloodgave birth to the genre (Fathers fall 1990). Called a nonfiction novel, the book was
a not factual account of the murder of a Kansas family in which Capotefocused on the killers not
the victims, as was the norm previously. In attempting to explain why the killers acted as they
did, Capote s work and Steve Carell, Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo work could be considered
classics of the genre. This essay takes its print to compare and contrast the two crime based movies
by looking into their content and setting to bringing out their similarities and differences. It also
outlines some of the benefits of such genres is society.
Most crime movies are real life crime inspired. These are real life experiences and true stories
turned into enactment though they may not capture the full real life flow of events. Foxcatcher is
one of such movies which are inspired by a real

The Process Of Assessment And Diagnosis
The Process of Assessment and Diagnosis in Therapy
Basic Elements
The ability to conduct an efficient and effective clinical and diagnostic interview is arguably one of
the most valued therapeutic skills. It is during the interview that the therapist learns about the
difficulties and challenges experienced by the couple and begins to form the foundations for a
healing professional relationship. There are three basic assessment elements that should guide
every interviewing session.
The first is establishing rapport. Establishing rapport refers to creating an open, trusting, and safe
relationship with the couple or family. The course of establishing an effective couple clinician
relationship will vary, but an overarching goal of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Biblical Anthropology and Assessment A proper assessment from a biblical anthropological
perspective needs to take into account the image of God as part of human nature. The three
dimensions of the image of God (relational, structural and functional) form the core of human
nature. Humans are relational beings with the structural capacity to relate to others and fulfill their
purpose in this life. These three dimensions were damaged or affected after the Fall. As discussed
previously, normality and pathology are connected with the sinful human condition.
In order to develop an effective treatment plan, McMinn and Campbell (2007) recommend assessing
issues associated with each of the three elements of human nature. They suggested starting with the
assessment of thoughts and behaviors, and moving on to assessing schemas and interpersonal
functioning. While both the functional and the structural assessment dimensions will be considered
in the following section, this chapter will emphasize the influence of the relational dimension of the
image of God as the primary reason for abnormality in the functional and the structural domains. Sin
is a relational issue, and this separation from God and other selves is responsible for the
abnormality in human beings.

Silver Impregnated Wounds
Silver impregnated dressings have been used extensively over the past few decades in the
management of chronic wounds and burns. Before the 1800s, Silver was used for the treatments
of ailments such as seizures, leg ulcers, skin infections, partial burns, surgical wounds, perinanal
abscesses, disinfection of fluid and sexually transmitted diseases. By mid 1900s, the use of Silver
started to expand and was used in different forms such as dressings, eye drops, powder and so on.
Silver nitrates were also used as antibiotics to prevent eye infections after deliveries, MRSA,
Staphylococcus aureus, B hemolytic streptococci, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia Coli
(Castellano et al, 2007, pp. 114 115). Nevertheless, adverse effects were not monitored.... Show

Wounds have a major impact on an individual s quality of life due to many factors such as pain,
infection, increase drainage and foul odor. Factors such as diabetes, hypertension, coronary artery
disease, nutrition, peripheral vascular diseases, vitamin deficiency, smoking, infection, stress,
obesity, and medications can affect woundhealing. The presence of those factors that can impede
wound healing makes it crucial for accurate assessment, early diagnoses and appropriate treatments.
Thus, choosing appropriate treatments in the management of chronic wounds is vital to wound
healing. Silver dressings have been shown to be very effective in the treatments of chronic
wounds and leg ulcers. Due to the advance in technology, the use of Silver has expanded.
Nowadays, there are many types of Silver impregnated dressings such as elemental silver, inorganic
compound, organic compound and silver nitrates. Choosing appropriate silver impregnated
dressings is vital to wound management and cost savings. The roles of the CWCN is to obtain a
thorough history, provide correct assessment and diagnoses, recommend appropriate treatments,
educate staff and patients on types of dressings, intended/ adverse effects, proper dressing changes,
collaborate with multidisciplinary teams such as dieticians for proper nutrition, physicians, surgery,
vascular lab, nurses and so on. In addition, the CWCN is responsible to develop regular in service

Cardinal Principles Of Strategic Management Summary
Summary
In the domain of management, strategic management encompasses identification together with
definition of strategies. Usually, managers employ these strategies to strive for high performance as
well as competitive advantage for a business establishment. In this respect, strategic management
draws higher profitability if well planned and executed. In addition to that, it includes decisions as
well as acts managers set about, and which determines the outcome of the organization s
performance. Incisively, a science is whatever skill that manifests detailed use of facts for a
particular purpose. Subsequently, art is clearly characterized as the skill critical for any human
tasks. Not only is strategic management a behavioral science, ... Show more content on

With reference to strategic management, the same principles exist. For instance, cause and effect
relationship where lack of stability in authority and responsibility, leads to ineffectiveness. Second
is examination of validity as well as predictability of the subject under consideration. In essence,
legality of scientific standards is proved at any convenience. It is important to note that, each test
will give similar result. Furthermore, scientific management principles can also be examined for
validity by use of standards like unity of command through comparison of two persons.
Thirdly, generally accepted principles involve scientific standards which signify basic truth of a
specific area of enquiry. Chiefly, these principles are relevant . In brief, strategic management
encompasses some cardinal principles for instance the principle of unity, which are used worldwide.
Finally, experimentation together with observation is involved which basically makes up thorough
scientific look into a field under consideration. Similarly in strategic management, principles
founded on scientific research accompanied with observation like the principles highlighted by
Henry Fayol. A number of these principles are established by way of experiments as well as
practical encounters of managers.
From above arguments, it is undeniable that strategic management like other sciences has a well
arranged body of knowledge even though it is not like that of other physical

The Between The Scottish And Chinese Products
In January of 2010, Mr. Li Kequiang who was vice premier of the state council of China
contacted Pelamis Wave Power Corporation in Scotland for a visit. The purpose of this visit was
to view a project that converted the kinetic wave energy of the ocean into electrical energy. Li was
accompanied by many senior Chinese officials during this visit, which totaled about sixty people.
Two months later there was a break in of the building Pelamis occupied, and five laptops containing
design information were stolen. The interesting thing in this case was that the burglars skipped the
first floor occupants, who were the Siemens Corporation, and went straight to Pelamis. A few years
later the Chinese produced a similar project called the Hailong 1.... Show more content on

Note that the terms of corporate and industrial espionage are used interchangeably in my research.
One may wonder what the roots of competitive intelligence, intellectual espionage, and reverse
engineering are. On the surface, it may seem clear that there is a distinction between competitive
intelligence and corporate espionage. One is gained legally, as a means of retaining corporate
relevance, while the other is gained illegally and at in some cases in an indignant fashion [4].
According to David Blenkhorn, a professor at Wilfrid Laurier University, this topic is not
appropriately discussed in universities today. It is not clear or obvious how one should treat
corporate intelligence ethically, as cultural viewpoints skew the morality of the situation. It
certainly could be argued that this information gathering is a necessary and sufficient means to an
end. Dr. Blenkhorn notes that there is a generally accepted ethical view with respect to information
gathering in Europe and North America, but in other countries, this perspective is quite different.
To some degree this may be a normalization of deviance, where over time, such actions are simply
accepted as a means of holding a business or national security edge, and thus over time becomes
ingrained into the culture. Interestingly, according to Professor Blenkhorn, one of his students from
Russia was taught how to conduct industrial

The Beginnings of a National Literary Tradition Essay
The Beginnings of a National Literary Tradition
Canadians throughout their history have been concerned over the status of their national literature.
One of the major problems facing early Canadian writers was that the language and poetic
conventions that they had inherited from the Old World were inadequate for the new scenery and
conditions in which they now found themselves. Writers such as Susanna Moodie, Samuel Hearne,
and
Oliver Goldsmith were what I would consider Immigrant authors. Even though they were writing in
Canada about Canada their style and their audiences were primarily England and Europe. These
authors wrote from an Old World perspective and therefore were not truly Canadian authors. It took

Lampman signaled the move from the Immigrant authors like Moodie and her counterparts toward
a true and distinct Canadian literary movement. It is important to note that in order to appreciate
the quality of 19th Century Canadian literature, an effort of sympathy and a leap of imagination are
both needed because it is here in the 19th Century that our nations true poetic history begins. In
early Canadian poetry the most influential and universal poet is undoubtedly Archibald Lampman.
While his career, like his life, were short lived his poetry remains as a reminder to the origins of
Canadian literary thought. Lampman was one of our first major literary figures to try and identify a
national literature. He realized the importance of having a specifically Canadian literary tradition.
An important stepping point in
Lampman s career came after he read the work Orion by Charles G.D. Roberts.
Lampman describes his over powering emotion when as a youth he came across this published
work(in the quote on the title page). The importance of having this distinct literary school was a
driving inspiration in his art. Lampman is regarded as the most talented of The Confederation Poets
( W.J. Keith 18). It is amazing that this unspectacular man could have such a profound effect on the
evolution of Canadian literary tradition. His upbringing was in a very conservative environment as

Studying Abroad Analysis
Have you traveled or studied abroad before? I have made it a point in my life to learn as much as
I can through traveling the globe. From the age of one I have been traveling to Canada, but the
boarder is only four hours away. At the age of fourteen I began to travel and experience other
cultures. This complete changed my life. I went to OchoRios, Jamaica, with Project Timothy
and volunteered at a children s camp. I went not knowing anyone I would be with and it changed
my life. Since then I have volunteered at two children s Orphanage and feeding houses in
Bluefields, Nicaragua. I have traveled to Bermuda with my family. Just last December I also
stayed in the United Kingdom for a month on my own. In January of this year I went on a
European Union trip, on this trip I went to London, Paris, Somme, Versailles, Berlin, Brussels,
and Luxembourg. This was a four credit class about the European Union and politics. Traveling is
something I love to do and my favorite way to learn about life, myself and my studies. Describe

The Way We Never Were Summary
Stephanie Coontz is a social analyst, family historian, writer and professor. She is a professor at

She is also Co Chair and Director of Public Education at the Council on Contemporary Families,
which is a non profit non partisan association of familyresearchers and practitioners. Her research
interests include the historical accuracy, myths and facts that surround our present concept of
traditional family values. In 1992, Stephanie published The Way We Never Were: American

Duke Professor of Sociology, Duke University believe that there is no better commentary on the
status and processes of American Families than The Way We Never Were. They mentioned that
Stephanie Coontz writes about the realities of family lives in an uncompromising way that
integrates evidence based research. And, that for their own family sociology courses this is great
book and students never look at the families the same way, and change the way they consider
family life in their future and go as far as to questioning the meaning of families in their present
lives. This shows how great of a book this is and how it impacts a lot of people.
Another review I read was of Casey Constance, she praises Coontz s capability to write such a put
together book and the ample evidence she uses to expose the falseness, sentimentality and self
righteousness of most public statements about the family. She also mentions how the book comes
from a real passion to set the public straight and to relieve people of the fear, or the excuse, that

Phoenix In Eudora Welty s A Worn Path
The phoenix was a symbol of fire and power in the past, and among the many warnings it brought
forth about plague or other illnesses that may strike the people who come across it. More
importantly it was a symbol of rebirth and hope, and in some anglo saxon cultures it was a sign
of longevity to see the ashes of a fire bird and a sign of peace to see one reborn. Yet, it would be
seen as doubly interesting to look, not only into the meaning of the word and symbol Phoenix, but
into the name as well. Why is it that Eudora Weltymade a character, an old and frail black woman
with that name? [An] arguement is that this text figures the writing process, that much more than a
character sketch, A Worn Pathis a complex analogy of fabulation of invention... Phoenix s traits her
blackness, femaleness, age, and apparent poverty challenge the reader... Phoenix means many
things in this case, it is the necessary and repetitive trips to the doctor for medicine, the lingering of
past ideals, and it is the relentless attitude that made Phoenix continue on to her goal even when

Comparing The Once And Future King
Written by T. H. White, The Once and Future King tells the life of King Arthur. In four books, T.
H. White chronicles the rise and fall of King Arthur. The Sword and the Stone, the first book of
The Once and Future King, details what King Arthur learned as a child when he was not known to
be the next King of England under the influence of his pacifistic tutor Merlyn. He learns that being
fair and just is better than power and tyranny. In the next book, The Queen of Air and Darkness,
King Arthuris guided by Merlyn and applies what he learned as a child to his reign as King to
create the Round Table , where all knights are equal and will use their Might for Right , using
their power for good, not tyranny. In the third book, The Ill Made Knight, King Arthur tries to
keep his Round Table from splitting, all the while his wife, Guenever, and his best knight and
friend, Lancelot, are rumoured to be having an affair. In The Candle in the Wind, the last book,
King Arthur creates laws and uses trials, juries, and evidence to instil justice as his last attempt to
create a perfect society. Throughout his life, King Arthur is seen as benevolent, brave, chivalrous,
open minded, progressive, determined, optimistic, and faithful. King Arthur s traits portray him
positively, but he is not perfect and his flaws can sometimes portray him negatively. King Arthur
was told he would be a squire for his brother, Kay, who would be knighted. Arthur did not know

The theme of often the better looking people end up leaders is represented through the use of a
stunning looking conch. When the boys were deciding who the leader of their band should be,
they choose Ralph because, There was his size, and attractive appearance; and most obscurely, yet
most powerfully, there was the conch. (19) Ralph is chosen to be the leader of the party because he
is attractive and has possession of the conch, not because he has any intuitive leadership
characteristics. In this situation, Ralph is the conch among average shells and stones. Since the

What is flu (influenza)?
It s simple. Flu (influenza) is caused by the influenza virus. It is an illness produced by RNA
viruses that infect the respiratory tract of people.
There are 3 types of influenza virus: A, B, and C. Most of the cases of flu are caused by virus A
and B.
Symptoms

Virus loves to contaminate those areas.
Always, always wash your hands as many times as you can. Just think of your hands as the perfect
vehicle to transport the virus. But if you wash them they are destroyed.
As you can see, it is not difficult to stay healthy during flu season. It s just a matter of habits.
But if you get infected, don t worry, your immune system will take care of viruses that produce the
flu. Medications only aim to alleviate symptoms until the infection goes.

Just War and Pacifism Essay
The question Can war be justified? plagued mankind since the first war. The Just War Theory
holds that war can be just. The theory has evolved for thousands of years and modern theorists,
such as Michael Walzer, author of Just and Unjust Wars, puts forth criteria for a just war, such as
jus ad bellum and jus in bello. Jus ad bellum includes reasons for going to war, and jus in bello deals
with the people who wage war. The criteriain jus ad bellum include; just cause, declaration by a

In Locke s State of nature the government s primary objective is to protect individuals. For
example, if one was in a state of nature and a gang of savages attacked him or her, he or she
would do anything necessary to defend themselves. They would then form a group with a common
objective of protection. With life now insured, the group can pursue liberty, happiness and estate.
Just War Theorists claim the governments of today are essentially the same, only on a larger scale.
Walzer and other Just War Theorists hold that self defense justifies pre emptive strikes. If an
outside force is obviously endangering a state, it is then justifiable to stop the attack before it
happens. Pre emptive strikes can prevent a future war that has worse effects. Walzer has what
he calls a general formula for a just pre emptive strike, States may use military force in the face
of threats of war, wherever the failure to do so would seriously risk their territorial integrity and
political independence (87). Walzer uses an example to justify his general formula of a
justifiable pre emptive strike. He claims that the Six Day War in 1967 was indeed a just pre
emptive attack on Egypt by Israel. Israel was under real threat because Egyptian President Nasser
massed an army and was positioning for attack, while simultaneously closing the Straits of Tiran to
Israel, and publicizing his goal to destroy Israel. Israel went

Love And Hate In The Story Of An Hour
Love and hate are both very powerful emotions. The abundance one can feel inside when feeling
them can be overwhelming at times. I think everyone can relate to the feeling when you love
someone so much you would do anything and everything for them. We can also understand that
feeling when you can t even stand the thought of someone being in the same room of you. When
we look at what emotionis more powerful, I think hate is stronger than love. The reason being is
that love can quickly turn to hate, but hate doesn t change to love very fast, if at all. I think
Othello is a great example of this. His love for his wife, turned to hate so fast because he thought
she was cheating on him. He murdered his wife in pure cold blood which shows how hate can be
such a powerful emotion that it can actually cause someone to want to commit murder. The feeling
of love and hate can change someone, and they both can be very powerful. However, I think that
hate is an emotion unlike no other in which the feeling is very stable, in the since that it is very
hard to change someone s mind about you when they hate you.
In the short story The Story of an Hour a lady talks about the feeling after her husband passed
away. She described the feeling of being set free as she said There was a feverish triumph in her
eyes, and she carried herself unwittingly like a goddess of Victory (Schlilib, 429). This shows how
someone can fall out of love. Maybe she didn t hate him, but she definitely had some

The Doctor’s Wife and So Long a Letter
Men have been shown to be the prime cause of competition between the women characters in the
novels The Doctor s Wife by Sawako Ariyoshi and So Long a Letter by Mariama BГў. This is
strongly evident in The Doctor s Wife from the time Umpei returns home, after completing his
education. A major change is also noticed in Otsugi s behavior towards Kae. The intense tension
caused by the competition between the women characters is also shown in So Long a Letter when
the two men, Modou Fall and Mawdo BГў, marry their second wives. In this essay I will be
discussing how men areshown to be the prime cause of competition between the women characters

This first occurs in chapter 10 when Otsugi unexpectedly enters Umpei and Kae s room and tells
Umpei that she would like to volunteer to be tested on for his research on anesthetics. However,
when Otsugi says, Let me be the subject of your anesthetic experiment, (Ariyoshi, p. 105) Kae
realizes what her mother in law is trying to do and tries to convince Umpei to take her as the
subject. She says, Oh no! I decided long ago to offer myself. Please try it on me! (Ariyoshi, p. 105)
Kae and Otsugi continue the argument of who should be the subject of Umpei s anesthetic
experiment. Despite Umpei s attempt to end the argument, he is unable to do so as it resumes
intensely immediately after his try.
Even though Umpei ostensibly hated the argument, towards the end of the novel Sawako Ariyoshi
makes it evident to the reader that Umpei was enjoying it all along. This is portrayed when Umpei s
sister, Koriku, tells Kae: Don t you think men are incredible? It seems... that an intelligent person
like my brother... would have noticed the friction between you and Mother... But throughout he
shrewdly pretended he didn t see anything... which resulted in both you and Mother drinking the
medicine. ... Well isn t it so?... I think this sort of tension among females... is... to the advantage...
of... every male. And I doubt that any man would volunteer to mediate in their struggles. (Ariyoshi,
p. 163)
This shows how men actually the enjoy competition between women and do nothing

Coal Mining Is Destroying The Economy
From 2011 to 2014, five thousand eight hundred coal mining jobs have been stopped for a period

of carbonized vegetable matter, used as fuel for energy. That energy is for heating something or

Richard Nixon And Bob Woodward
Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein are both award winning journalists famously known for

How Does Rap Music Promote Violence
The Effects of Music
Music is important to everybody, we all have that one song that makes us happy or sad just from
listening to one line in the song, but what if the song made you violent. Lyrics in music could be
the reason for violent tendencies in people s behavior. There have been studies shown that lyrics in
some music promote violence and crimes started because of musical influence. Through all genres
of music, if closely inspected, the lyrics show a hint of violence.
In fact, the police have even linked the rise of violence to music. In the article Colorado Police

In rap music it s not hard to find the violent lyrics with most of the music speaks about gang
violence, shootings, drugs, and more. An example of a song that influences violence is J. Coles
song A Tale of 2 Cities with lyrics like Picked up the paper and they say my nigga Eddie caught a
body, I m convinced anybody is a killer, all you gotta do is push em to the limps in this part of the
song Cole speaks about how his friend, who isn t really a person who would commit a crime,
murdered somebody; Cole isn t surprised because he believes everybody is a killer if you push
them to their limits. Another example in the song is They robbin niggas on the daily can you
blame a nigga that ain t never had things? Guess not last night they pulled up on my nigga at the
light like ugh, nice watch, run it the first part of these lyrics Cole justifies the crime of robbing
because they have nothing. In the second part Cole states that somebody came up to his friend
and robbed him of his watch, on this part the sound of a gun being cocked in the background is
heard and is continued with the chorus saying hands in the air now (Genius). These lyrics not
only promote violence but justify why it was okay to do such crimes. The reasoning behind why
artists talk about violence is that it s a way of telling their story. Namir, a rapper in New York
says People have to realize that rappers are just like any other artist or musician. What makes an
artist an artist is his artistic portrayal of his life and how he expresses his life through whatever art
form that he does (PBS). With people growing up in terrible environments and music being a way
for them to cope the reasoning for the violent lyrics is the artist trying tell their

The Help by Kathryn Stockett
Title
The significance of the title is not only to summarize what the book is about, but it is also about
the title of the book inside the book. It s simple, yet to the point.
The author most likely chose this title because it is simplistic yet jam packed with meaning. Not
only does it refer to black southern maids working for whites, but it is also the title of the book
Aibileen, Skeeter, and Minny create.
The Help is yet again about black maids, who are known as the help. This term was very common
because almost everyone had maids working for them in the 1960s. The Help is not just about
maids, it is also about the owners who treated their maids as inferiors. Equality was not a leading
factor during this time period.
Author
Kathryn Stockett, the author of The Help, born in 1969, was raised in Jackson Mississippi. She
graduated from the University of Alabama and earned her degree in English as well as creative
writing. Later on, she moved to New York City and worked in magazine publishing as well as
marketing. Now Kathryn Stockett lives in Atlanta with her husband and daughter.
To my surprise, Kathryn s family had a maid named Demetrie when she was younger. At the age of
twenty eight, Demetrie cooked and cleaned for the family. Much like Minny, Demetrie married an
abusive alcoholic. In many ways, Demetrie is also like Aibileen, Kathryn adored her. Kathryn

A Brief Note On Surface Waters And Groundwater
Surface waters and groundwater are the two sorts of water assets that contamination influences.
There are likewise two unique routes in which contamination can happen. On the off chance that
contamination originates from a solitary area, for example, a release channel appended to a
processing plant, it is known as point source contamination. Different illustrations of point
source contamination incorporate an oil slick from a tanker, a release from a smoke stack
(industrial facility fireplace), or somebody pouring oil from their auto down a channel. A lot of
water contamination happens not from one single source but rather from a wide range of
scattered sources. This is called nonpoint source contamination. A few types of water
contamination are extremely self evident: everybody has seen TV news footage of oil spills
recorded from helicopters flying overhead. Water contamination is normally more subtle and much
harder to recognize than this. However, by what method would we be able to gauge water
contamination when we can t see it? How would we even know it s there? There are two
fundamental methods for measuring the nature of water. One is to take tests of the water and
measure the convergences of distinctive chemicals that it contains. In the event that the chemicals
are risky or the focuses are excessively extraordinary, we can see the water as dirtied. Estimations
like this are known as concoction markers of water quality. Another approach to gauge water quality

Unity between all agencies and governments will allow for everyone s voice to be heard. Group
compromise and discussion is possible when all systems are working together for a common goal;
such as, overcoming an epidemic. Forming a strong framework requires accountable leaders to
work constructively with other organizations as equal partners. When organizations unite, leaders
are held responsible for their global practices, motivating action rather than hesitation. Accountable
leaders are essential in a strong government because they take action and motivate change. When a
government has weak leaders, actions are postponed and hesitation causes delays in funding,
education, and volunteers. Civil groups, along with other non governmental organizations, need
their opinions heard. Uniting together all forces, not only creates a stronger, trusting bond between
countries, but also creates an unstoppable fighting force against epidemics. In the article, Gostin

organizational culture. He focuses on the human aspect. What motivates Ingvar is not profit
alone but improving the quality of life of the people (Bartlett Nanda, 1996. p.3). From the store
design to materials to long term relationships with suppliers, Kamprad actively participated in its
execution. Kamprad learned how to turn challenges into opportunities and as such benefitted in
incredible revenue growth and globalization. IKEA s culture, strategy and organization
illustrates Kamprad s vision and dedication to frugality. From requiring executives to work
showroom floors to travel constraints to expansion into countries like the US as well as changes
in leadership, IKEA has managed to not only survive but thrive (Bartlett Nanda, 1996). Growing
from a handful of stores to over 300 stores in 47 countries, critics wonder if IKEA can maintain
its competitive strategy of target costing as well as its Scandanavian organizational culture
without Kamprad at the helm? Moreover, should IKEA want to??? Case Study Analysis IKEA
Success According to Michael Porter, competitive strategy is about being different. It means
deliberately choosing a different set of activities to deliver a unique mix of value (1996, p.4).
IKEA s strategy was the epitome of different. Moreover, it s initial advertising and marketing

Fiji Water and the Chocolate Slaves Essay
The fact of the matter is that today, stuff selling mega corporations have a huge influence on our
daily lives. And because of the competitive nature of our global economy, these corporations are
generally only concerned with one thing...the bottom line. That is, maximizing profit, regardless of
the social or environmental costs. David Suzuki
Bottling of freshwater from a rare resource in the Fiji Islands, and harvesting of cocoa beans via
child slave labor in West Africa, are both ethically questionable. Business practices from both
commodities have little regard on damages inflicted during their production. Ethical issues,
similarities, and differences with both commodities will be contrasted, a presentation of socially

argued that bottled water is morally unacceptable the discomforting fact while having perfectly
good tap water, the UK spends almost $2 billion pounds on bottled water, its treated as a luxury
bauble while others die from its absence . The Fiji Water Company, LLC provides some water to
surrounding villages after cyclones and flash flooding, it also provides some funding towards
clean water projects across the islands, but the company is not responsible for the islander s
water supply (Heap, 2008). Fiji Water s good works are more hope than reality. Two years after a
riot at the water plant, the Vatukaloko Trust Fund was created, a charity targeting several villages
surrounding the plant, agreed to donate .15 percent of its Fijian operation s revenues, a company
official testified that the total was about $100,000 in 2007 (for perspective, the trade journal
Brandweek put Fiji Water s marketing budget at $10 million in 2008) (Lenzer, 2009). The
aforementioned presents an ethical issue with Fiji Water profiting from freshwater pumped from
the aquifer, then exported and marketed as a luxury product, meanwhile the people of Fiji are
getting sicker in certain cases dying from the lack of it. This can be viewed as controversial and
moral contextual issue; under Applied Ethics the normative principles that can be argued are Social
Benefit, Principle of Benevolence, and the Principle of Paternalism. Next, an additional concern
arises, the

Hell s Angels By Hunter S. Thompson Summary
Hunter S. Thompson was the author of Hell s Angles published in 1967 by Random House. In
this book Thompson follows Hell s Angles for a two year period, focusing on the Oakland and
San Francisco chapters. The Hell s Angels were known for their violent nature and disregard for
authority. Thompson illustrates this by saying, when you re asked to stay out of a bar you don t
just punch the owner. You come back with your army and tear the place down, destroy the whole
edifice and everything it stand for. No compromise. If a man gets wise, mash his face. If a woman
snubs you, rape her. This is the thinking, if not the reality, behind the whole Hell s Angels act. The

This style of journalism is a first person narrative to report on personal experiences and emotions,
compared with traditional journalism, which relies on some degree of detachment and with its
use of facts and quotations. Hell s Angels should be regarded as an important piece of journalism
because, Thompson reported on events that were relevant to the counter culture and the struggles
of defying social status in the United States. Furthermore the events that are covered in this book
were of interest to people throughout the nation. This book would be of interest to a wide variety
of people. For instance, motorcycle enthuses would likely take interest because, the book is about
a notorious motorcycle gang. People interested in counter culture might also take an interest in this
book due to the fact that the Hell s Angles questioned the social class system. Even people
interested in sociology could also take an interest in the book because, sociology is the study of the
development, structure, and functioning of human society ad social problems. A sociology
professor could use this book as an example for their class to understand a subculture, similarly to
the Street Corner Society by William

Was Julius Caesar Justified Essay
Julius Caesar, a play written by William Shakespeare, shows how a good leader needs to be able
to understand his people in order to succeed. In the play, loved and hated Caesar returns home
only to be murdered by the conspirators, which begins a civil war in Rome. Caesar s friends,
Brutus and Antony, feel they need to address the situation by giving a speech to the people.
Brutus uses rationalization to convince the crowd that killing Caesar was a favor to Rome, thus
revealing that he believed his actions were justified, while Antony uses concrete evidence to
humanize Caesar s image, displaying his loyalty to Caesar. For Caesar s funeral, Brutus employs
the trait of being naive by informing the crowd that the murder of Caesar was to benefit Rome.
Brutus attempts to justify his actions by implying his loyalties lie with the people because not
that [he] loved Caesar less but that [he] loved Rome more (Shakespeare 747). He is suggesting to
the people that he had sacrificed his friendship for Rome. Being naive, Brutus believes his people
would follow him because he... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the speech Antony begins to humanize Caesar by using examples of what Caesar had
done for Rome and explains when the poor have cried, Caesar hath wept (Shakespeare 750).
Although Caesar was seen as a king Antony humanizes him by showing he was sympathetic
towards the people of Rome. Throughout the play Antony shows his loyalty to Caesar and his
sympathy towards him as his heart is in the coffin with Caesar (Shakespeare 750). Antony s is
distraught about Caesar s death showing how he cared for Caesar and shows his loyalty to
Caesar by having his spirits die when Caesar died. Anthony s concrete evidence and loyalty to
Caesar is what persuades the crowd to turn in favor of Caesar and initially sets up the conflict in
Rome as his loyalty to Caesar makes his quest for

Dallas Heritage Village
I chose this museum because it is located in one the city s oldest parks on the southeastern edge
of downtown and allows us to visually experience what life was like in North Texas during the
19th and early 20th century. It is situated along a charming redbrick Main Street, and has 38
exquisitely restored building that are fully furnished buildings, some of which include a log
cabin, a Greek Revival style mansion, a school house, a shotgun house and a farmstead that dates
back to 1840 through 1910, and invite us to scrutinize the past through self guided tours and
winsome living history presentations. Added to the atmosphere are live farm animals and a host
of reiterating events, costumed docents, that range from mock gunfights to historical
replications. It makes us step back in time at this wonderfully bizarre, victorian era park. Created
in 1976, this complex sits on 13 acres and features almost 40 historic building. We can tour a
blacksmith shop, a general store , and even the inside of a teepee. This facility also features a
Victorian bandstand and a church. Dallas Heritage Village offers an enchantingly... Show more

many people moved to the suburbs near Dallas and highways were built nearby to get them into

Executive Summary
BrewDog is a company that has gone from strength to strength in its short time since establishment.
The company has been experiencing rapid growth over the past several years. Through extracting
the relevant information from a SWOT analysis on the company, I will look at BrewDog s strengths
and opportunities, leading to analysis of competition, barriers to entry and the threat of substitutes
in proposed future markets. Through this I will show what growth methods are not suitable for the
company, and conclude with my recommendation that simultaneous expansion of the UK and
foreign markets are the most viable growth prospects for the company. I will provide analysis and
discussion to show the validity of this. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
1.2 Opportunities
The opportunities for BrewDog are vast and include continuing to expand on its recent trend of
opening BrewDog pubs and bars across the UK, and taking the business global on a larger scale
than it currently is. The company already exports to over 30 countries worldwide (McCulloch,
2013) and although this is of course proving profitable, the intentions of BrewDog in terms of
expansion are focussed mainly on opening new establishments. The company currently has eleven
open bars in Scotland and England, with a flag ship store in Shoreditch, London. Eleven bars is not
a massive amount, particularly looking at the success of the ones they currently have. Although
expansion abroad is no doubt a high priority, it cannot be ignored that BrewDog bars are not present
in Northern Ireland, although the beers are available there for purchase in other establishments and
stores. This is an opportunity for expansion.
The matter of global expansion of the pubs is one that BrewDog seem very interested in, and
understandably so. As mentioned, BrewDog already exports to around 30 different markets, and as
such has a customer base around the world already. An opportunity for growth is to enter the
German market, where the craft beer market is large,

Clearwater Seafoods (CS) is a seafood exporting firm based in Canada. The firm is suffering value
declining from international trade due to the appreciation of Canadian dollars. Hence, the company
s value declined for 35% that fails to distribute dividends under income trust since 2002. The
company has to hold a conference for shareholders to establish an appropriate strategy to address
the value declining problem and change its unit holder s pessimistic shareholding sentiment.
This report will initially identify the root of foreign exchange risk that Clearwater Seafoods is
encountering. After then, it will also discuss about the business risks that the firm needs to

According to CS s case, the firm s strategy includes three aspects to be completive with peer firms.
The first is innovation which is to attain substantial resource base through applying edged
technologies. The second is control totally on the value chain for the sake of cost efficiency and
goods quality assurance. The third concerned with diversity, this is to creating hedges among
products classes and market regions. This strategy sounds quite all round but there is an issue that
it needs relatively large amount of funds each year to attain it. As the technology require a high
level of funds to support its technical research group and advanced equipment like new vessels and
processing plants. It also needs fund to hire management expertise to monitor and manage on the
firm s value chain. And to dig new produce species and new market worldwide also needs vast
funds. Therefore, CS needs to make sure it has sufficient funds yearly to attain its current strategy.
Moreover CS will be unable to attain higher revenue if the firm over diversified its product and
trading markets in hedging purpose. As the Canadian government controls severely on the seafood
producing industry that limited each firm s ability of seafood manufacturing (known as total
allowable catch (TAC)). CS has to keep its product species diversification by acquiring other peer
firms

  • 3. The Equal Opportunity Within A Work Place, The Pregnancy... Introduction Before we dive into this topic of human resources, let s define it. Human Resource can be defined as the division of the company that is focused on activities relating to employees. These activities normally include recruiting and hiring new employees, orientation and training current employees, employee benefits, and retention. Throughout this paper I will discuss the Equal Opportunity within a work place, the Pregnancy Discrimination Act, Privacy Polices within a work place, and Sexual Harassment within a workplace. Equal Opportunity Laws Title VII The first aspect of Human Resource that will be addressed is equal opportunity and the laws that provide for it. There were several equal opportunity laws enacted from 1964 to 1991. The first of these was Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act which states that an employer cannot discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, or national original with respect to employment (Dessler, 2013). Title VII applies to employers with 15 or more employees, including state and local governments. It also applies to employment agencies and to labor organizations, as well as to the federal government. Title VII also prohibits employment decisions based on stereotypes and assumptions about abilities, traits, or the performance of individuals of certain racial groups. According to Society for Human Resource Management, it states that, possible criminal practices include soliciting applications only from sources in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Analysis Of Truman Capote s The Novel Cold Blood Real crime or true story is a recently denomination term used to refer to nonfictional acting of actual crimes, usually murders. There has been little methodical study of the genre; critics and scholars offer contradictory theories about true crime literature. Although the term and the popularity of the genre are relatively new, factual accounts of crimes are not. True crime accounts date back as far as the 18th century, and such writers as Edmund Pearson, William Roughead, and Jonathan Goodman described the exploits of criminals earlier in the twentieth century. Critics agree that Truman Capote s In Cold Bloodgave birth to the genre (Fathers fall 1990). Called a nonfiction novel, the book was a not factual account of the murder of a Kansas family in which Capotefocused on the killers not the victims, as was the norm previously. In attempting to explain why the killers acted as they did, Capote s work and Steve Carell, Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo work could be considered classics of the genre. This essay takes its print to compare and contrast the two crime based movies by looking into their content and setting to bringing out their similarities and differences. It also outlines some of the benefits of such genres is society. Most crime movies are real life crime inspired. These are real life experiences and true stories turned into enactment though they may not capture the full real life flow of events. Foxcatcher is one of such movies which are inspired by a real ... The Process Of Assessment And Diagnosis The Process of Assessment and Diagnosis in Therapy Basic Elements The ability to conduct an efficient and effective clinical and diagnostic interview is arguably one of the most valued therapeutic skills. It is during the interview that the therapist learns about the difficulties and challenges experienced by the couple and begins to form the foundations for a healing professional relationship. There are three basic assessment elements that should guide every interviewing session. The first is establishing rapport. Establishing rapport refers to creating an open, trusting, and safe relationship with the couple or family. The course of establishing an effective couple clinician relationship will vary, but an overarching goal of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Biblical Anthropology and Assessment A proper assessment from a biblical anthropological perspective needs to take into account the image of God as part of human nature. The three dimensions of the image of God (relational, structural and functional) form the core of human nature. Humans are relational beings with the structural capacity to relate to others and fulfill their purpose in this life. These three dimensions were damaged or affected after the Fall. As discussed previously, normality and pathology are connected with the sinful human condition. In order to develop an effective treatment plan, McMinn and Campbell (2007) recommend assessing issues associated with each of the three elements of human nature. They suggested starting with the assessment of thoughts and behaviors, and moving on to assessing schemas and interpersonal functioning. While both the functional and the structural assessment dimensions will be considered in the following section, this chapter will emphasize the influence of the relational dimension of the image of God as the primary reason for abnormality in the functional and the structural domains. Sin is a relational issue, and this separation from God and other selves is responsible for the abnormality in human beings. Assessing Maladaptive Thoughts and Behaviors (Functional Domain). Before the 1800s, Silver was used for the treatments of ailments such as seizures, leg ulcers, skin infections, partial burns, surgical wounds, perinanal abscesses, disinfection of fluid and sexually transmitted diseases. By mid 1900s, the use of Silver started to expand and was used in different forms such as dressings, eye drops, powder and so on. The Between The Scottish And Chinese Products In January of 2010, Mr. Li Kequiang who was vice premier of the state council of China contacted Pelamis Wave Power Corporation in Scotland for a visit. The purpose of this visit was to view a project that converted the kinetic wave energy of the ocean into electrical energy. Li was accompanied by many senior Chinese officials during this visit, which totaled about sixty people. Two months later there was a break in of the building Pelamis occupied, and five laptops containing design information were stolen. Note that the terms of corporate and industrial espionage are used interchangeably in my research. One may wonder what the roots of competitive intelligence, intellectual espionage, and reverse engineering are. On the surface, it may seem clear that there is a distinction between competitive intelligence and corporate espionage. One is gained legally, as a means of retaining corporate relevance, while the other is gained illegally and at in some cases in an indignant fashion [4]. According to David Blenkhorn, a professor at Wilfrid Laurier University, this topic is not appropriately discussed in universities today. It is not clear or obvious how one should treat corporate intelligence ethically, as cultural viewpoints skew the morality of the situation. It certainly could be argued that this information gathering is a necessary and sufficient means to an end. Dr. Blenkhorn notes that there is a generally accepted ethical view with respect to information gathering in Europe and North America, but in other countries, this perspective is quite different. To some degree this may be a normalization of deviance, where over time, such actions are simply accepted as a means of holding a business or national security edge, and thus over time becomes ingrained into the culture. • 9. The Beginnings of a National Literary Tradition Essay The Beginnings of a National Literary Tradition Canadians throughout their history have been concerned over the status of their national literature. One of the major problems facing early Canadian writers was that the language and poetic conventions that they had inherited from the Old World were inadequate for the new scenery and conditions in which they now found themselves. Writers such as Susanna Moodie, Samuel Hearne, and Oliver Goldsmith were what I would consider Immigrant authors. Even though they were writing in Canada about Canada their style and their audiences were primarily England and Europe. These authors wrote from an Old World perspective and therefore were not truly Canadian authors. It took a group of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lampman signaled the move from the Immigrant authors like Moodie and her counterparts toward a true and distinct Canadian literary movement. It is important to note that in order to appreciate the quality of 19th Century Canadian literature, an effort of sympathy and a leap of imagination are both needed because it is here in the 19th Century that our nations true poetic history begins. In early Canadian poetry the most influential and universal poet is undoubtedly Archibald Lampman. While his career, like his life, were short lived his poetry remains as a reminder to the origins of Canadian literary thought. Lampman was one of our first major literary figures to try and identify a national literature. He realized the importance of having a specifically Canadian literary tradition. An important stepping point in Lampman s career came after he read the work Orion by Charles G.D. Roberts. Lampman describes his over powering emotion when as a youth he came across this published work(in the quote on the title page). The importance of having this distinct literary school was a driving inspiration in his art. Lampman is regarded as the most talented of The Confederation Poets ( W.J. Keith 18). It is amazing that this unspectacular man could have such a profound effect on the evolution of Canadian literary tradition. His upbringing was in a very conservative environment as Lampman ... In January of this year I went on a European Union trip, on this trip I went to London, Paris, Somme, Versailles, Berlin, Brussels, and Luxembourg. This shows how great of a book this is and how it impacts a lot of people. Another review I read was of Casey Constance, she praises Coontz s capability to write such a put together book and the ample evidence she uses to expose the falseness, sentimentality and self righteousness of most public statements about the family. Phoenix In Eudora Welty s A Worn Path The phoenix was a symbol of fire and power in the past, and among the many warnings it brought forth about plague or other illnesses that may strike the people who come across it. More importantly it was a symbol of rebirth and hope, and in some anglo saxon cultures it was a sign of longevity to see the ashes of a fire bird and a sign of peace to see one reborn. Yet, it would be seen as doubly interesting to look, not only into the meaning of the word and symbol Phoenix, but into the name as well. Why is it that Eudora Weltymade a character, an old and frail black woman with that name? [An] arguement is that this text figures the writing process, that much more than a character sketch, A Worn Pathis a complex analogy of fabulation of invention... Phoenix s traits her blackness, femaleness, age, and apparent poverty challenge the reader... In the next book, The Queen of Air and Darkness, King Arthuris guided by Merlyn and applies what he learned as a child to his reign as King to create the Round Table , where all knights are equal and will use their Might for Right , using their power for good, not tyranny. In the third book, The Ill Made Knight, King Arthur tries to keep his Round Table from splitting, all the while his wife, Guenever, and his best knight and friend, Lancelot, are rumoured to be having an affair. The theory has evolved for thousands of years and modern theorists, such as Michael Walzer, author of Just and Unjust Wars, puts forth criteria for a just war, such as jus ad bellum and jus in bello. Jus ad bellum includes reasons for going to war, and jus in bello deals with the people who wage war. The criteriain jus ad bellum include; just cause, declaration by a proper authority, right intention, a reasonable chance of success, the end proportional to the means, and war as a last resort. In Locke s State of nature the government s primary objective is to protect individuals. For example, if one was in a state of nature and a gang of savages attacked him or her, he or she would do anything necessary to defend themselves. They would then form a group with a common objective of protection. With life now insured, the group can pursue liberty, happiness and estate. Just War Theorists claim the governments of today are essentially the same, only on a larger scale. Walzer and other Just War Theorists hold that self defense justifies pre emptive strikes. If an outside force is obviously endangering a state, it is then justifiable to stop the attack before it happens. Pre emptive strikes can prevent a future war that has worse effects. Walzer has what he calls a general formula for a just pre emptive strike, States may use military force in the face of threats of war, wherever the failure to do so would seriously risk their territorial integrity and political independence (87). Walzer uses an example to justify his general formula of a justifiable pre emptive strike. He claims that the Six Day War in 1967 was indeed a just pre emptive attack on Egypt by Israel. • 21. Love And Hate In The Story Of An Hour Love and hate are both very powerful emotions. The abundance one can feel inside when feeling them can be overwhelming at times. I think everyone can relate to the feeling when you love someone so much you would do anything and everything for them. We can also understand that feeling when you can t even stand the thought of someone being in the same room of you. When we look at what emotionis more powerful, I think hate is stronger than love. The reason being is that love can quickly turn to hate, but hate doesn t change to love very fast, if at all. I think Othello is a great example of this. His love for his wife, turned to hate so fast because he thought she was cheating on him. He murdered his wife in pure cold blood which shows how hate can be such a powerful emotion that it can actually cause someone to want to commit murder. The feeling of love and hate can change someone, and they both can be very powerful. However, I think that hate is an emotion unlike no other in which the feeling is very stable, in the since that it is very hard to change someone s mind about you when they hate you. In the short story The Story of an Hour a lady talks about the feeling after her husband passed away. She described the feeling of being set free as she said There was a feverish triumph in her eyes, and she carried herself unwittingly like a goddess of Victory (Schlilib, 429). Group compromise and discussion is possible when all systems are working together for a common goal; such as, overcoming an epidemic. Forming a strong framework requires accountable leaders to work constructively with other organizations as equal partners. When organizations unite, leaders are held responsible for their global practices, motivating action rather than hesitation. Accountable leaders are essential in a strong government because they take action and motivate change. When a government has weak leaders, actions are postponed and hesitation causes delays in funding, education, and volunteers. Civil groups, along with other non governmental organizations, need their opinions heard. Uniting together all forces, not only creates a stronger, trusting bond between countries, but also creates an unstoppable fighting force against epidemics. In the article, Gostin and Friedman acknowledged the contributions a non governmental agency, MГ©decins Sans FrontiГ©res, made to help control the raging epidemic. • 41. Was Julius Caesar Justified Essay Julius Caesar, a play written by William Shakespeare, shows how a good leader needs to be able to understand his people in order to succeed. In the play, loved and hated Caesar returns home only to be murdered by the conspirators, which begins a civil war in Rome. Caesar s friends, Brutus and Antony, feel they need to address the situation by giving a speech to the people. Brutus uses rationalization to convince the crowd that killing Caesar was a favor to Rome, thus revealing that he believed his actions were justified, while Antony uses concrete evidence to humanize Caesar s image, displaying his loyalty to Caesar. For Caesar s funeral, Brutus employs the trait of being naive by informing the crowd that the murder of Caesar was to benefit Rome.
