The Symbolism Of Dracula In Bram Stoker s Dracula
Bram Stoker s Dracula appears to be a novel predicated upon a racist worldview. 1897, its
publication year, was marked by anxieties resulting from the decline of the British Empire from its
previous position of hegemony. The increasing unrest in British colonies endangered British
imperialism, race, and its cultural conventions, rendering society susceptible to the fear of reverse
colonization: the infiltration and influence of former territories. Dracula, travelling to England from
Romania, is employed to symbolise this threat. Arata s most thought provoking note is that
vampires as an entity are generated by racial enervation and the decline of empire. Thus, by
utilizing a foreign vampireas the antagonist of his work, Stoker exploits... Show more content on

A pertinent instant being the sisters first appearance: two [of the sisters] were dark, and had high
aquiline noses, like the Count. In this line, the dark sisters are analogous to Dracula, assumedly of
the same ethnic origin. Yet, the other was fair [...] with [...] golden hair and eyes like pale
sapphires, evidently not of the same ethnicity. Thus it is interesting that she is described in more
favourable terms than the darker, golden hair and eyes like sapphires are reminiscent of wealth and
western beauty. Contrast this with the red, piercing eyes of the other sisters, which oppose the
softer, safer image of the fairer. The passage is narrated by Jonathan Harker, whose first person
perspective is influenced by his ethnicity; he sees the sisters through the lens of anxieties plaguing
the Victorian British. Hence the distress concerning reverse colonization is palpable, Stoker
presents through Harker the ease surrounding those of Western origin, and the discomfort towards
outsiders.
Stoker s distinction between races is progressively evident in the attack of Harker: the other two
urged her [the fair sister] on. One said: Go on! You are first, [...] yours is the right to begin. That the
most Western of the three has the right exemplifies British imperialism. Being westernised
inherently lends greater power, presenting the western supremacist perspective that predicated
Dracula. Dracula, particularly the slaying of the Count, is in line with other characteristic
nineteenth century works that seek to justify British

Is Helen To Blame For The Trojan War
Creative Title Although Aphrodite gave Helen to Paris without her consent, Helen s nonetheless
guilty. Hecuba gave Helen the opportunity to escape Troy, and Helen denied this offer. Helen did
not scream when she was being abducted. If she really was being taken against her will, she would
ve at least tried to fight back and scream for help. This 10 year war could ve have been at least
shortened if Helenwould ve changed her actions . In this book
Helen s famously labeled as the face that launch d a thousand ships and also the one to blame for
the bloody 10 year Trojan War. Helen betrays her country and her people, resulting in Helen
being guilty of treason. Helen was known around the world for her unbelievable beauty. People
despised Helen for the woes her beauty caused and how many lives it took. For she ensnares the
eyes of men, overthrows their towns, and burns their houses, so potent are her witcheries Hecuba.
Of course Helen s abduction and her home choosing to go to war because of this was not her fault,
but a 10 bloody years could ve been prevented. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Cat Monologue
I continued petting him while I prepared to go home. The cat decided to join me, so I let him.
Sometimes I would stop to pet him while we walked. When we finally reached the house he made
himself at home instantly. My wife loved him. However I started to dislike the cat. I didn t expect
it, but the fact the catloved me started to annoy and disgust me. Slowly this feeling of disgust
turned to hatred. I avoided the cat, and the only thing that kept me from hurting it was shame.
Shame from what I had done to Pluto. But slowly, very slowly I began despise it. I avoided the cat
like it was some kind of disease. I hated the cat even more when one morning I discovered, just

I followed my every footstep. If I sat in a chair it would crouch beneath me, jump up on my
knees or chest, walk in between my feet nearly tripping me, or worst of all dig its claws into my
chest. When it did this I was so tempted to hit it, but the thought of what I did to Pluto partially
stopped me. The other reason why was because, I was scared of the cat. I wasn t exactly scared
of the cat hurting me. I was scared for a foolish reason. The reason my wife saw multiple times.
The patch of white hair covering the cats chest and throat. The only thing separating this cat
from Pluto. I first I didn t think anything of it, but as time went on the mark seemed to show a
certain shape. It was the shape of a noose! By now this cat had scared me so much it couldn t
sleep. During the day it would follow my every footstep, and at night I had horrible dreams about
the cat. I woke from nightmares to feel the cat sitting on my chest making is hard to breathe. Due
to the stress of not sleeping, and being unable to escape the cat every last bit of good in me
disappeared. I only thought about the most evil thoughts. My slight moodiness changed to a severe

How Did African American Music Influence Jamaica
Relative to its size, population and economic standing in the international arena, Jamaica is
arguably the most influential nation as it relates to the propagation of music internationally.
Jamaican music, primary roots reggae and dancehall can be heard on every continent in the world.
Like most of the Caribbeanislands, Jamaican music is influenced by its African influence through
the presence of the institution of slavery on the island, that of the European colonizer and to some
extent the Indians who were brought to the island during the indentureship period.

with it. Pocomania music has tremendous influence on both reggae and dancehall music.
Reggae Developed from the late 60s and was in its heyday during the 1970s. The music
developed from ska (the first truly indigenous Jamaican music) which was then tempered down to
rock steady in an effort to focus on calm and consciousness. Among the greatest performers of the
art form is The Wailers which was made up of Bob Marley, Bunny Wailer and Peter Tosh. The
music became synonymous with the rise off the Rastafarian movement and was used to promote
the movement.
Dancehall Music A Jamaican style of music which arose out of reggae in the early 1980s and is
still popular today. Though the music grew of reggae as a style it was very different. Whereas
reggae s lyrics is based on consciousness, positivity and peace, dancehall through its lyrics
perpetuated slackness, gangster, guns and violence. Dancehall music was also considered to be
artificial and manufactured as it was computer based unlike reggae which was considered natural

PROSTITUTION: VIOLATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS AGAINST WOMEN Prostitution is
considered as a control of taking part in sexual exercises with somebody for cash. In Canada, it is
lawful to offer sexual administrations yet it is considered as a wrongdoing to purchase sexual
administrations from others. When we talk about prostitution it is important to consider that which
type of women is engaging in sexual activities for money. It is considered that the more than half
of the women doing sex work is due to the sexual abuse during their childhood. Some of them are

When prostitution is legitimized, all holds are banned. Ladies regenerative limits are sellable

role of sex industry in creating a global sex market in the bodies of women and children. Instead we
hear much about making prostitution in to a better job for women through regulation and
legalizing, through unions of so called sex workers and campaigns which provide condoms to
women in prostitution but cannot provide them with to prostitution. We hear much about how to
keep women in prostitution but very little about how to help women get out from this. So women s
and children s need campaigns to increase the awareness to stop prostitution and make better

what the sex business is advancing in light of the fact that it will give the business greater security
and lawful dependability if these qualifications can be used to authorize prostitution, pimping and
whorehouses. Ladies who bring charges against pimps and culprits will bear the weight of
demonstrating that they were constrained. How will underestimated ladies ever have the capacity
to demonstrate intimidation?

Sugar Tariffs
A few weeks ago I was driving into work and I was listening to the radio, NPR news. A story
caught my ear, my economic sense started to tingly. It was a story on sugar subsidies and how that
has raised the price to consumer in the United States for a very long period. It delved into other
types of protection for domestic sectors but mainly focus on agriculture. Most consumers are
probably unaware that many of their commodities that they purchase in the grocery market are
artificially higher in price than they should be due to tariffs and other protectionist measures that
the governmenterects to protect domestic producers. The question is does this protect jobs and
industry for America? Are the consumers better off?
Why is this important? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Why? This has to due to the political dynamic of few receiving benefit, domestic sugar producers,
while the cost is dispersed among the many, the US consumer. This explains the short term
dynamic but why has it been a consistent long term trend. The consumer has paying almost double
or more for as long as 1980 s according to the chart and agriculture tariffs as long as the founding
of this country (Perry, 2012).
We can use Welfare Economicsand Gains from Trade to conclusively state that we will be worse
off as a country due to sugar tariffs (Landsburg, 2009). In more detail the import restriction of
sugar at world prices assures that we will have a constriction of supply from the world market and
unmet demand from domestic consumers (Landsburg, 2009). The cost to us will be the dead
weight loss associated with the restriction of imports.
Here an example from Dr. Startmann s PowerPoint on this point, although not a perfect analogy,
you can see the effect that it has on both prices to consumer and loss of social welfare from the

Understanding Teens Who Self Injure Essay
Understanding Teens Who Self Injure Imagine being sixteen years old and taking a razor to

of people this idea seems strange and incomprehensible, but for many teenagers this is their
reality. In a society with so much abuse, neglect and crime children are facing things that they
never had to face in the past. Adolescents who are lacking more positive coping skills are turning
to self injurious behaviors to ease their pain and frustration. In recent years the issue of self

?The object wasn?t to make myself bleed to death, just to let go of the ugly feelings holding me
hostage feelings that would leave me at the sight of blood? (Pederson, as quoted in Zila Kiselica,
2001). SIB includes a wide range of behaviors including head banging, hair pulling, skin cutting,
self hitting, and skin burning. SIB is typically found in early adolescence but can become a
chronic behavior that carries on into adulthood. Most research focuses on females who self
injure because it is found that, while males do self injure many more females do it. We also
need to take into consideration that females tend to be more help seeking than males; so many
more males may be self injuring than we know. Zila and Kiselica define the typical self mutilator
as female, adolescent or young adult, single, usually from upper middle class family and
intelligent. It is found that one in four teenage girls cut (Barnard, 2004). SIB can be classified
into four categories: Stereotypic SIB, Major SIB, Compulsive SIB and Impulsive SIB (White
Kress, 2003). Each of the four categories corresponds with and tends to be more prevalent with
various DSM IV mental disorders. The following will describe each of the four categories in
detail. Stereotypic SIB The kind of behaviors that can be classified under Stereotypic SIB include

Raymund Maximilian Kolbe Thesis
What is a saint? A saint is a person of great holiness, who has performed miracles for God s
cause. What is a martyr? A martyr is someone who dies for what they believe in, just like
Maximilian Kolbe. Raymund Maximilian Kolbe was born January 8, 1894. He was born in
Zdunska Wola, in Poland. Both parents, Marianna and Juliusz, were very holy, and dedicated
much of their time and money to teach their children about the catholic faith. (Gale BIC, 2)
They were both poor weavers, who traded with Jewish merchants. From a young age,
Maximilian was very fond of his faith. He enjoyed church, and loved to pray. In 1907, Max and
his brothers decided to move to an all boys Franciscan school. Their mother was supportive of
this decision, because she wanted to shield the boys from the other sex. When he turned sixteen
in 1910, he was going to join the army, but his mother thought he was fit for the priesthood.
(Gale BIC, 4) So, Kolbe relented, and in 1912, arrived in Rome, and spend the next seven years

unhygienic wards and toilets. The francis report also estimated that between January 2005 and
march 2009, approximately 400 1200 deaths occurred as a result of poor care.
The inquiry laid blame on poor staffing, lack of compassion, poor management. Francis also noted
a lack of concern when issues had been raised stating Staff who spoke out felt ignored and there is
strong evidence that many were deterred from doing so through fear and bullying . Again other

How Does Baldwin Use Darkness In Sonny s Blues
James Baldwin s Sonny Blues is a look behind the curtain, revealing the honest life that African
Americans endeavor and the obstacles their community faced in Harlem during the 1950s. Baldwin
writes Sonny s Blues from the perspective of a man who had grown up in Harlem, who had
encountered obstacles such as poverty, grief, addiction, and limited opportunities all of his young
life. Poverty, grief, addiction and the limited opportunities, these patterns of suffering had
dominated the Harlem community. Allegedly the narrator has escaped the cycle of suffering within
his community, illustrating the family he had built and his stable job while his brother as chosen to

Throughout the story Baldwin illustrates that darkness is approaching when he says, And when
light fills the room, the child is filled with darkness. He knows that every time this happens he s
moved just a little closer to that darkness outside (7). The darkness and light Baldwin describes
works as cycle, similar to night and day, after light comes darkness and after darkness comes light.
The pattern of darkness and light is painted to symbolize the cycle of suffering and salvation,
showing without one the other cannot exist. It is how to achieve this balance of light and dark that
the narrator struggles with throughout the story. The narrator witnesses many instances of
darkness, when his daughter died he wrote, I was sitting in the living room in the dark, by myself,
and I suddenly thought of Sonny. My trouble made his real (14). This instance of darkness the
narrator depicts shows that suffering hold a present everywhere, it s universal, and people can cope
with their suffering though relating to one another. Furthermore, the recurring idea of darkness
throughout the story shows that suffering will always exist and it is a vital part of the human
experience. However, one can find the light, escaping the darkness for a moment, through relating
to one another and showing compassion. In essence, the symbols light and darkness are used to
develop Baldwins theme that suffering is

Feminism as a Theory of Law Essay
Feminism as a Theory of Law As a concept, feminism is very much a modern notion within legal
circles, which aims to eradicate any prejudice against women s rights. This in a society strongly
founded upon a male orientated legal system, which historically fails to recognise the social and
legal rights of women, and instead focuses upon male orientated theories and ideologies. [1] It is
this patriarchy that feminists thrive to eliminate. The essence of patriarchy is emphasised by the
Marxist legal theory, developed by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels in the 19th Century, which
places no emphasis upon gender, and consequently belittles the feminists fight for gender equality.

The key to this goal, in turn, is a socialist revolution that creates a state centred economy operating
to meet the needs of all. Such a basic transformation of society requires that women and men pursue
their personal liberation together, rather than individually, as liberal feminists maintain. [4] 3) The
third form of feminism is radical feminism. This, as the name suggests is the most extreme version
of feminism, it disregards the liberal theory as superficial and inadequate, [5] and they claim that
even a socialist revolution would not end patriarchy. Radical feminists strive to create a society
free from any gender inequality by completely abolishing the cultural notion of gender. To look at
these three forms of feminism an observer would be ignorant to discard feminism as having no
legal influence, as it is clear to see from these that support for such movements is vast and comes in
various forms, all of which attack the same enemy, patriarchy, albeit in differing manners. These
differing methods are accentuated by recent developments and movements in society, particularly in
the 20th Century these can be clearly highlighted by looking at the actions of the suffragettes in
1910, which illustrate a more active approach to campaigning.
As previously mentioned feminist legal theories are a contemporary

I found that the participant observation method was the most helpful and easiest method to use. I
was able to talk with the firemen about their experiences and see how they interacted. I also worked
out with them and sat around talking with them. This method allowed me to get information about
their interactions because I could easily observe them talking amongst themselves and to me. One
of the downsides of this method was that I could not record information as I was observing. Writing
down what they were saying and what was going on would seem rude and would be hard to do. I
had to wait until leaving the firehouse before recording what happened. This led to more vague

Taking a Look at the Spanish Conquest
Introduction:
THE SPANISH CONQUEST of the Americas is an interesting story of exploration, wealth, greed,
devastation and death. The Aztec civilization, which lived in what we know today as central and
South America, began to come under threat from European explorers during the late 15th century.
The Aztec civilization was one of the most spectacular in the world, and at its heart was the
masterpiece of the Aztec capital, Tenochtitlan. However, the prosperity and wonder of the Aztecs
came to an end with the arrival of Hernan CortГ©s and his Spanish conquistadors. Hernan CortГ©s

What was the Ancient Prophecy? And How did it aid CortГ©s invasion?
In the year 1519 the words of a ancient prophecy would come back to haunt Moctezuma II. The
story told of the ancient god of Quetzalcoatl (feathered serpent or precious twin. God of

Curiously Quetzalcoatl was said to be white skinned and to have worn a beard. The story states
that he proclaimed that one day he would return to reclaim his throne. The expected year of his
return was to be the year one reed one the Aztec calendar. As faith would have it that was the year
1519 on the Christian calendar. The same year Moctezuma had received reports of moving
mountains seen in the waters of the Mexican coastline. Hernan Cortes had arrived. Depending on
how you look at it this could have been one of histories greatest convincedents or the ancient

made my fear somewhat decrease. Most of my fear from them is what I didn t know or see. But I
m still not afraid of the circus. Clowns always frightened me as a child, but one Halloween made it
even worse. I was on a haunted housetour with my family when I accidentally was diverted. Not
knowing I was alone for a while I wandered into a room full of killer looking clowns and they all
swarmed me at once. The quick outburst of them from every direction was so terrifying that I
passed out right where I was standing and awoke in the hospital. I looked over to my mom and
she said They have something to say. I looked to my right side and I saw the clowns once again
this time they looked even more evil. Once again I passed out. The next time I woke up I
checked to make sure there wasn t any clowns and then checked again to be safe. Lucky for me
there were none to be seen and I was relieved but still on edge from the whole encounter. My mom
entered the room soon after I gathered all my nerves. She said that she thoughtthat me seeing them

Characters In Paper Town Quotes
The five main characters involved in Paper Towns. They are Quentin Jacobsen, Margo
Spiegelman, Ben Starling, Radar Lincoln, and Lacey Pemberton. All five characters connect
back to the main theme of the story, which is that people change over time and they chase after
what they want in life, no matter what they leave behind. Quentin is symbolized as a paperboy
because he is one of the people who has a monotonous life and is an ordinary person. In the book,
Margo tells Quentin, All the paper kids drinking beer some bum bought for them at the paper
convenience store. Everyone demented with the mania of owning things. All the things paper thin
and paper frail, (Green 57). The quote explains how life in Orlando is like a paper town. Everyone...

Compare and Contrast Communism, Socialism, and Capitalism
What is communism? Communism is a term used broadly to designate a theory or system of
social organization based on the holding of all property in common, actual ownership being
ascribed to the community as a whole or to the state. It refers to the doctrine which underlines the
revolutionary movement which aims to abolish capitalism and ultimately to establish a society in
which all goods will be socially owned, all economic activates socially planned and controlled, and
in which all distributions will be in accordance with the maxim. German author Emil Ludwig
described the maxim as for each according to his capacity, to each according to his need. (1) It is to

As mentions before socialism is the doctrine that espouses public ownership or control of a major
means of production. It aims to achieve an equitable and efficient distribution of social goods and
greater economic planning then exist under capitalism. Although the central concerns of socialism
appears to be economic its ramifications extend to the moral, social and political realms, in fact
together with nationalism, it is the leading ideological and political movement of the 20th century.
It is considered to be the transitional phase between the capitalism and communism. Thus, you
would find all communists advocating for socialism because it lays the foundations for
communism. It advocates an egalitarian society where everyone shares equal wealth and power.
There is a considerable disagreement over how the distribution should take place. Hence, socialism
can be said to be between extreme capitalism and extreme communism with it being nearer to
communism. Socialism is liberal. More people have say in how the economy works. (5) The basic
principles of contempary socialism have their origin in the economic, social and cultural
transformations of Europe which occurred during the 18th and 19th centuries. Contributing factors
were the Industrial Revolution and the rise of the bourgeois and proletarian classes, the
enlightenment s secular and rationalistic view of men and society, and the democratic demands of
the French Revolution. Social ownership and

The Causes And Effects Of Indirect Rule In Nigeria
Indirect rule is a system that was put into place by imperialist who did not have the manpower to
rule a country by force. It is an ingenious system that allowed countries to come into Africa and
impose their rules and influences over the natives without fully taking over. According to W. R.
Cocker, Sir Fredrick Lugard was given the position of High Commissioner in Northern Nigeria.
His objective was to bring Nigeria under British rule. This was no easy task because the native
population outnumbered the amount of men they could bring to enforce British rule and
government. So what Sir Lugard did, as did many other imperialist, left most of the power in the
hands of the natives. In Lugard s case, the land was under the control of the Fulani Emirate, which
he found their administrative set up to be respectable. Not left with much of a choice, he left the
Emirates in charge and set in place British rule which governed alongside side the natives. Thus
indirect rule was brought to Africa. There were lots of criticism that came with indirect rule. They
mainly came after Lugard s book, Dual Mandate, came out. Many of the men that were enlisted at
the time became arrogant after this book came out. They thought they were makers of history. This
being said they lost a lot of their old values. Religious groups cut them off from making anymore
scriptures. To which they referred to them as the interpretation of which was their own monopoly.

Normative Ethics Reflection Paper
Ethics surrounds many emotions which are not accepted by morality as not important what is

Ethical concern having largely taken place with friends, family and society as well, preparing a

The type of ethical philosophy that I am interested to me is Changing Modern Philosophy.
Inheriting good things from past is not bad. We human beings we learn from surroundings, our
nature is also with mixture of good and bad. As long as we have the talent to choose what suits us
and does not, we have to choose the one fits us. After reading the unit 2 writings of different
philosophers, I am interested with Changing Modern Philosophy. In 1958 Elisabeth Anscombe,
came with a modern philosophy which changed the way we think about normative theories. Her
critics were the moral philosophy s pre occupation by conceiving laws of ethics. This law deals

want to sell T shirts and other momentos of the event. You can either work with your bank to

purposes.
Both online payment services offer both card readers that will work with mobile devices such as a
smartphone or tablet, or you can login with an Internet connection and punch in the person s
information manually.
5. Extension Chords
Even though you may expect the hotel to have extension chords available so you can set up tables
and computers anywhere you need to, the truth is that there may be other events going on and a
shortage of cables to go around.
Even if you leave the extra chords in your vehicle unless you need them, it is a good idea to pack
a few extras just to be on the safe side. It will save someone having to run to a nearby hardware
store to purchase chords at the last minute.

Why A Corporation May Consider Convertible Bond Issuance
There are number reasons a corporation may consider convertible bond issuance. The instrument
itself is a bond that may be converted to another type of security at the company that issued the
bond. Converting such an item is all left up to the discretion of the bondholder. The reason for a
company to want to issue such an item of course would always be in the best interest of the
company itself for doing so. Convertible bonds are considered what is known as a hybrid security
where it is considered to be both debt and equity by the issuing company (Saunders Cornett, 2015,
p. 185).
One of the reasons the company would want to issue convertible bond would be is the yield that
they have to pay generally lower than that of a non convertible bond. The reason the rate is lower is
important because it is indeed a hybrid security where gives the bondholder an investment
opportunity in the company in the future, hence making the instrument more attractive to investors
(Badraoui Ouenniche, 2014). Since the instrument is more attractive, a lower yield may be offered
that will still garner and peak invested interest in the product (Saunders Cornett, 2015). Pricing is
usually set so as not in the best interest to convert the bond stock unless the company sees an
increase of the stock price in the range from 15 to 20 percent from the time the bond was issued
(Saunders Cornett, 2015, p. 187).

The Characteristics Of The Mixing Patterns Are Determined...
According to Muysken, many of the characteristics of the mixing patterns are determined by the
structural features of language (Muysken, 2000; p. 2). Using the grammatical approach in analysing
CS, Muysken identifies three major categories of code mixing; insertion, alternation and congruent
lexicalization code mixing. Insertional involves the insertion of material (lexical items or entire
constituents) from one language into a structure from the other language and alternational CS
refers to alternation between structures from languages where two languages are present in the
same clause but remain relatively separate (ibid; p.3).
The distinction between insertion and alternation is paramount for the analysis of CS as it
analytically differentiates between different events of CS: one that involves only the use of one
main language where a foreign word is inserted into the structure or another where two grammatical
systems alternate in the construction of a single utterance.
In his work on analysing the patterns of CS, rather than presenting definite criteria for each of the
pattern, Muysken acknowledges that the differences between insertion and alternation are gradual
and can transition into each other (2000; p.10). However, he managed to identify several
environments where insertion or alternation is most likely to happen. In insertion, what is inserted
is a constituent: a constituent can be any syntactic unit, either a lexical item or a phrase. According

Liberalism And Ligalitarianism
Politics is often discussed on the basis or right and wrong, left and right, and is riddled with false

On the one hand, with the emergence of the nation state and theories of sovereignty in the sixteenth
and seventeenth centuries, ideas of a distinctly public realm began to crystallize. On the other
hand, in reaction to the claims of monarchs and, later, parliaments to the unrestrained power to
make law, there developed a countervailing effort to stake out distinctively private spheres free
from the encroaching power of the state. Natural rights theories were elaborated in the seventeenth
century for the purpose of setting limits on state power, both over property and religious
conscience(3). Many philosophers such as Locke, Miller, and Paine, and Kant argue for these
rights due to the fact that there was a great social awakening and a growing urge to question the
legitimacy of leadership. On these basis stood the foundation of classical liberalism.
Classical Liberalism prioritizes above all things complete and total individual liberty. Believers in
Classical Liberalism assert that it must be served in completeness because any lack of it creates
citizens that are willingly dependent on the government. It is imperative to understand that
Classical Liberalism does not call for complete anarchy or even no government at all like
Libertarian Anarchists do, but rather a small government. Thomas Paine describes this idea as
Society in every state is a blessing, but government even in its best state is but a necessary evil; in

Another alternative is that curriculum as an outcome ties together the experiences of learners while
at school with the purpose to achieve goals and objectives (Reid, 2005).
The Australian Curriculum is not designed to stipulate the whole curriculum; rather it is a blueprint
that defines what students across Australia should be taught throughout their schooling years
(ACARA, n.d. g). The Australian Curriculum will provide specific information for the content that
is to be taught, the extent of understanding, level of knowledge and the achievement standards and

The Mere Nature Of The Soliloquy By William Shakespeare
The mere nature of the soliloquy is to enter the thoughts of a specific character It is a simple idea.
It would make sense that Shakespeare employs this literary method to reveal something about
Hamlet s own internal struggle in any given soliloquy. Hamlet is an conflicted and self disparaging
individual who often finds himself toiling with his own ideas and movies frequently. But the first
soliloquy is used to reveal to the audience that Hamletis furious at his mother and Claudius, even

By comparing corruption to a rotting plant, Shakespeare manages to insert a large, overarching
theme into a few sentences of a soliloquy.
While there is micro juxtaposition in the sentences and metaphors in the soliloquy, the first
passionate soliloquy provides a striking contrast to the artificial dialogue that Hamlet must
exchange with Claudius in court. The juxtaposition of tone emphasizes how rules and customs
of the royal court that foster corruption. Shakespeare also juxtaposes spiritual things and earthly
things, O, that this is too too sullied flesh would melt,/ Thaw and resolve itself into dew (10).
Hamlet is disgusted by the earthly flesh he has to live in and wishes to be something pure and
spiritual like dew. The earthly things to hamlet, like soil and weeds, are gruesome. To Hamlet,
the world is corrupt and so are the people in it. Shakespeare juxtaposes the earthly with the divine
in order to show how Hamlet, while he wanting to be pure, is trapped on earth by some
obligation, such as a canon gainst self slaughter (10). The ban on suicide is also a symbol for
Hamlet s obligation to stay in the royal court until things are set right.
Allusion is also implemented to emphasize the corruption that is slowly taking over the Royal
court. Shakespeare has Hamlet compare his father, his mother, and his uncle all to different Greek
and Roman mythological figures. Hamlet firsts makes the comparison of

Metamorphosis By Franz Kafka Language Analysis
Language is the essence of our being, it is a type of shared knowledge in which people are able to
communicate and interact with one another. In the Metamorphosis, Gregor is unable to
communicate properly as his voice has been transformed into a bug like sound. Franz Kafka is
using Gregor s inability to communicate as a way of depicting how the very deprivation of language
is what makes us lose our humanity.
Language is what defines us as humans as it provides us with the cognitive tools required to shape
the way we think. Without said tools one cannot simply communicate with other individuals. Our

introduced by Henry Louis Gates and the different message that is received by society from the
underlying message surrounding African American films (Ramsey, 311). Stereotypes conceived
through movies and hip hop music create the identity and character through an authentic
representation that is expected of African Americans in modern culture. Although African American
films and the hip hop music industry have worked to build and identify a culture through the art
form, they have instead created a stereotypical image a different inner struggle has resulted that

The films represent the community and sometimes can alter how society think they should feel.
Ramsey discusses guiltsploitation , which addresses the guilt associated with not following a
certain cultural norm (Ramsey,311). The message of many films suggests that to prove that one is
proud of their Black heritage they must live in ghettos, do crack and rap (Ramsey, 311). This
representation creates a different message to the past and present youth can I climb the corporate

The Psychological Assessment Practitioners
As stated by Foxcroft (2011) the psychological assessment practitioners core ethical responsibility
is that nothing should be done during testing and assessment to harm the client, and that it is their
responsibility to follow ethical practices so that the test takers can perceive the assessment to be
fair and beneficial. This discussion will be covering ethical issues in psychological assessment with
an emphasis on the South African context. We will look at what a psychological test is, what ethics
is, the history of South Africathat has had an impact on psychological testingin this country, and

Effects Of High School Start Time Essay
Several high schools all around the United States start school before the recommended time of
8:30 or later and there is nothing being done to help prevent this. Although it seems that it is just
a time, waking up too early is very detrimental, not only to teenagers, but people of all ages.
According to Zuckerman from the National Center for Health Research, By 2000, many high
schools were starting at 7:30 or earlier . Waking up at this earliest of times can lead to increased
depression, drug use, obesity, conflict, and car accidents in the average teenager. Simply
increasing the start time of school by a single hour can reduce the rate of the effects stated above
by at least 70%. Also, according to Tlumacki and Vaznis from the Boston globe, The CDC has
joined a growing number of national organizations calling for later start times for both high school
and middle school students. Those organizations... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are already many campaigns and solutions to help end this problem, however, no person
has realized that starting school later is a way to protect this from happening. School start times
are the leading cause of drug use because drug use is prevented by depression and depression
may be happening because of lack of sleep. Researchers have found that after making the start
time of school more reasonable, the use of drugs decreased and almost disappeared completely.
For example, according to the Teen Rehab Center, people aged 12 20 drink a total of 11% of the
consumed alcohol in the US. However, when teens are less sleep deprived, it may make the
percentage decrease. According to some National data recorded by CASAColumbia, a study found
by The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse, found that high school students
receiving less than 8 hours of sleep are more likely to use tobacco, alcohol, marijuana, and other
drugs compared to those who receive more than 8

  • 2. The Symbolism Of Dracula In Bram Stoker s Dracula Bram Stoker s Dracula appears to be a novel predicated upon a racist worldview. 1897, its publication year, was marked by anxieties resulting from the decline of the British Empire from its previous position of hegemony. The increasing unrest in British colonies endangered British imperialism, race, and its cultural conventions, rendering society susceptible to the fear of reverse colonization: the infiltration and influence of former territories. Dracula, travelling to England from Romania, is employed to symbolise this threat. Arata s most thought provoking note is that vampires as an entity are generated by racial enervation and the decline of empire. Thus, by utilizing a foreign vampireas the antagonist of his work, Stoker exploits... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A pertinent instant being the sisters first appearance: two [of the sisters] were dark, and had high aquiline noses, like the Count. In this line, the dark sisters are analogous to Dracula, assumedly of the same ethnic origin. Yet, the other was fair [...] with [...] golden hair and eyes like pale sapphires, evidently not of the same ethnicity. Thus it is interesting that she is described in more favourable terms than the darker, golden hair and eyes like sapphires are reminiscent of wealth and western beauty. Contrast this with the red, piercing eyes of the other sisters, which oppose the softer, safer image of the fairer. The passage is narrated by Jonathan Harker, whose first person perspective is influenced by his ethnicity; he sees the sisters through the lens of anxieties plaguing the Victorian British. Hence the distress concerning reverse colonization is palpable, Stoker presents through Harker the ease surrounding those of Western origin, and the discomfort towards outsiders. Stoker s distinction between races is progressively evident in the attack of Harker: the other two urged her [the fair sister] on. One said: Go on! You are first, [...] yours is the right to begin. That the most Western of the three has the right exemplifies British imperialism. Being westernised inherently lends greater power, presenting the western supremacist perspective that predicated Dracula. When we finally reached the house he made himself at home instantly. My wife loved him. However I started to dislike the cat. It was a story on sugar subsidies and how that has raised the price to consumer in the United States for a very long period. It delved into other types of protection for domestic sectors but mainly focus on agriculture. Most consumers are probably unaware that many of their commodities that they purchase in the grocery market are artificially higher in price than they should be due to tariffs and other protectionist measures that the governmenterects to protect domestic producers. The pattern of darkness and light is painted to symbolize the cycle of suffering and salvation, showing without one the other cannot exist. It is how to achieve this balance of light and dark that the narrator struggles with throughout the story. The narrator witnesses many instances of darkness, when his daughter died he wrote, I was sitting in the living room in the dark, by myself, and I suddenly thought of Sonny. My trouble made his real (14). This in a society strongly founded upon a male orientated legal system, which historically fails to recognise the social and legal rights of women, and instead focuses upon male orientated theories and ideologies. Such a basic transformation of society requires that women and men pursue their personal liberation together, rather than individually, as liberal feminists maintain. This, as the name suggests is the most extreme version of feminism, it disregards the liberal theory as superficial and inadequate, [5] and they claim that even a socialist revolution would not end patriarchy. Radical feminists strive to create a society free from any gender inequality by completely abolishing the cultural notion of gender. It is an ingenious system that allowed countries to come into Africa and impose their rules and influences over the natives without fully taking over. According to W. R. Cocker, Sir Fredrick Lugard was given the position of High Commissioner in Northern Nigeria. His objective was to bring Nigeria under British rule. This was no easy task because the native population outnumbered the amount of men they could bring to enforce British rule and government. So what Sir Lugard did, as did many other imperialist, left most of the power in the hands of the natives. In Lugard s case, the land was under the control of the Fulani Emirate, which he found their administrative set up to be respectable. Not left with much of a choice, he left the Emirates in charge and set in place British rule which governed alongside side the natives. Thus indirect rule was brought to Africa. There were lots of criticism that came with indirect rule. They mainly came after Lugard s book, Dual Mandate, came out. Many of the men that were enlisted at the time became arrogant after this book came out. They thought they were makers of history. This being said they lost a lot of their old values. • 32. Why A Corporation May Consider Convertible Bond Issuance There are number reasons a corporation may consider convertible bond issuance. The instrument itself is a bond that may be converted to another type of security at the company that issued the bond. Converting such an item is all left up to the discretion of the bondholder. The reason for a company to want to issue such an item of course would always be in the best interest of the company itself for doing so. Convertible bonds are considered what is known as a hybrid security where it is considered to be both debt and equity by the issuing company (Saunders Cornett, 2015, p. 185). One of the reasons the company would want to issue convertible bond would be is the yield that they have to pay generally lower than that of a non convertible bond. The reason the rate is lower is important because it is indeed a hybrid security where gives the bondholder an investment opportunity in the company in the future, hence making the instrument more attractive to investors (Badraoui Ouenniche, 2014). Since the instrument is more attractive, a lower yield may be offered that will still garner and peak invested interest in the product (Saunders Cornett, 2015). Pricing is usually set so as not in the best interest to convert the bond stock unless the company sees an increase of the stock price in the range from 15 to 20 percent from the time the bond was issued (Saunders Cornett, 2015, p. 187). • 33. The Characteristics Of The Mixing Patterns Are Determined... According to Muysken, many of the characteristics of the mixing patterns are determined by the structural features of language (Muysken, 2000; p. 2). Using the grammatical approach in analysing CS, Muysken identifies three major categories of code mixing; insertion, alternation and congruent lexicalization code mixing. Insertional involves the insertion of material (lexical items or entire constituents) from one language into a structure from the other language and alternational CS refers to alternation between structures from languages where two languages are present in the same clause but remain relatively separate (ibid; p.3). The distinction between insertion and alternation is paramount for the analysis of CS as it analytically differentiates between different events of CS: one that involves only the use of one main language where a foreign word is inserted into the structure or another where two grammatical systems alternate in the construction of a single utterance. In his work on analysing the patterns of CS, rather than presenting definite criteria for each of the pattern, Muysken acknowledges that the differences between insertion and alternation are gradual and can transition into each other (2000; p.10). However, he managed to identify several environments where insertion or alternation is most likely to happen. In insertion, what is inserted is a constituent: a constituent can be any syntactic unit, either a lexical item or a phrase. According to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On the one hand, with the emergence of the nation state and theories of sovereignty in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, ideas of a distinctly public realm began to crystallize. On the other hand, in reaction to the claims of monarchs and, later, parliaments to the unrestrained power to make law, there developed a countervailing effort to stake out distinctively private spheres free from the encroaching power of the state. Natural rights theories were elaborated in the seventeenth century for the purpose of setting limits on state power, both over property and religious conscience(3). Many philosophers such as Locke, Miller, and Paine, and Kant argue for these rights due to the fact that there was a great social awakening and a growing urge to question the legitimacy of leadership. On these basis stood the foundation of classical liberalism. Classical Liberalism prioritizes above all things complete and total individual liberty. Believers in Classical Liberalism assert that it must be served in completeness because any lack of it creates citizens that are willingly dependent on the government. It is imperative to understand that Classical Liberalism does not call for complete anarchy or even no government at all like Libertarian Anarchists do, but rather a small government. While there is micro juxtaposition in the sentences and metaphors in the soliloquy, the first passionate soliloquy provides a striking contrast to the artificial dialogue that Hamlet must exchange with Claudius in court. The juxtaposition of tone emphasizes how rules and customs of the royal court that foster corruption.
