Chelydra Spentina
Powerful and aggressive, the common snapping turtle, Chelydra serpentina, is a heavy bodied species
with a distinctive primitive look. The genus name, Chelydra, means water serpent, while the species
name, serpentina, means snakelike.
Formally described by the Swedish botanist and zoologist Carolus Linnaeus (1707 1778) in 1758, the
common snapping turtle is one of only two living members of the chelonian family Chelydridae, the
other member being the alligator snapping turtle, Macrochelys temminckii. While population levels
are currently stable, C. serpentina is still heavily exploited, and researchers continue to document
population declines in portions of its range.

serpentina reaches breeding age, while the female matures at 8 to 9 inches (20 to 22 centimeters)
length. In most of its range, mating season is March through November and nesting takes place from
mid May to mid June. Variations in these time frames do occur. For instance, in the cooler,
northernmost reaches of its range, mating and nesting take place later in the year, while in the warmer
southern regions these activities happen earlier in the year. Moreover, in southern Florida, mating
occurs throughout the year ( Common snapping turtle Chelydra serpentina | ARKive ,

The Development Of Children s Education
5 7 years:
This age group of children will have to go through a transition from nursery to school; reception year,
(where practitioners still follow EYFS) and then children move on to key stage one, (where teachers
follow the National Curriculum Key Stage 1). Children s education is still based on play, however
now children have a lot more of adult led activities in which they learn to concentrate for longer
periods of time. The environment in schools that surrounds children is more complex because the
children get to learn more, therefore some displays might contain bigger amount of more complex
mathematical language than we can find in a nursery setting. As children go into key stage 1, it isn t
the only environmental look that changes, the equipment is also more complex and advanced because
it is aimed for children that are now at a higher stage of mathematical development. As I discussed
earlier Early Years Foundation Stage changes and becomes the National Curriculum Key Stage 1; the
system changes a little bit and instead of carpet time that children used to have in the nursery becomes
a lesson . Some children in reception might still work on their emergent mathematics. However, as
they move up to Key Stage 1, children begin to learn a lot more complex mathematics and it is not
longer emergent because they have passed this stage which should be fully achieved by now...
Children who did not go to the nursery might find it harder to learn in school and achieve their

Comparison of Madness and Sanity in Hamlet and Death of a...
Comparison of Madness and Sanity in Hamlet and Death of a Salesman Could anyone really
determine whether or not a person is mad or sane?
In William Shakespeare s Hamlet and Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman each of their two main
characters, Hamlet and Wily Loman, are put up to this question, but in each situation their so called
madness differs in the cause of them. The ways in which their madness affects their lives is proven by
three actions. These actions are neglecting their responsibilities, negatively influencing others, and
finally distracting themselves.
It is really never determined whether or not Hamlet and Willy are really mad, but there is some good
details that reflect it. Both characters were once ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He doesn t even realize that he is jeopardizing his life by not paying attention. Also Willy wants so
much more, but he doesn t even try to make it better. He escapes like a coward from the present which
is the easy way out. With once being in control and now losing it along with their priorities, it is safe
to determine that there is a bit of madness in them both. As a result of neglecting their responsibilities,
they negatively influence others around them in an indirect way. Hamlet was a nice young man who
was in love at one point. Now by letting everything such as mother s incestuous relationship with
Uncle Claudius and his father s death get to him, he turns against everyone and becomes a loner. In the
first scene he is shown, he is apart from the crowd. Also once he worshipped his love
Ophelia and now he treats her as if she does not exist. As a result of this bad treatment, Ophelia goes
mad. Here s where all the trouble begins. Because of her madness, she dies by drowning, but whether
or not it is suicide is left up to the reader. After her suicide, everything comes tumbling down. This
begins the downfall of Hamlet. If he didn t treat her so badly she would not have died and therefore
other deaths would have been avoided. Willy also neglects the ones he loves. He neglects their
feelings, thoughts and also physically neglects them. Happy, his son, lacks a relationship with his

Movie, Rear Window, By Alfred Hitchcock
For every action a person takes, there is usually a purpose behind it. The riskier and more dangerous
an action, the more motive that individual must have to continue. Alfred Hitchcock s 1954 film, Rear
Window, is a riveting thriller that is based on Cornell Woolrich s short story It Had to be Murder . This
film tells a narrative about an adventurous photographer, Jeffries played by James Stewart, who after
breaking his leg is forced to remain shackled to a wheelchair within his home. To cope with boredom,
he takes the liberty of observing his neighbors through one of his windows. It is through this pastime
that he comes to believe that one of his neighbor might be guilty of murdering his wife. Throughout
the rest of the film Jeffries decides to investigate his neighbor, in an attempt to bring him to justice.
Jeffries is however met with skepticism and obstacles. While any other individual might have
succumbed to the skepticism, Jeffries does not. Throughout the film we come know his character
more, and we can analyze what part of his personality started the whole ordeal and which traits drives
him to finish his investigation. One of Jeffries trait that we learned about early on is that he is a daring
individual who likes adventure. We quickly learn this key information in the opening scenes of the
film, when we are informed that of the reason why he ended up with a broken leg. We are not given
many details on how the accident occurred, however we do know that the

This is illustrated by the extensive detailing of Crooks´ crooked spine, his deep black wrinkles and
pain tightened lips. The reader sympathises with Crooks because he is physically inept and suffers
silently. Due to years of loneliness, Crooks is a private man and so was very annoyed when Lennie
interrupted him whilst applying liniment to his back; this was a private act of a private man. If you
guys would want a hand to work for nothing just his keep, why I´d come an´ lend a hand. I ain´t so
crippled I can´t work like a son of a bitch if I want to, is an example of Crooks´ loneliness as he
proposes to work for George and Lennie if they buy a ranch of their own. He tries to reassure Lennie
that he can still work hard despite his disability. He wants to join George and Lennie´s dream to
counteract his loneliness. This is emphasised by the fact that he is willing to work for just a bed and
some food and go without wages. They say I stink. Well, I tell you, you all of you stink to me, is a
possible reference to Carlson´s remark about Candy´s dog. This gives the impression that the general
idea within the ranch is that Crooks is inferior to the others. This suggests that Steinbeck thinks that
some black people feel the same way about white people as some white people feel about black
people. Steinbeck uses Of Mice and Men´ to portray issues which he feels strongly about

Development And Implementation Of The Organizational Strategy
Development and Implementation of the organizational strategy
Me: Hello sir, I m excited to know how the development and implementation of operational strategies
occurs at IGT. I would like to know more about importance of a core strategy.
VP customer service I am fascinated about how companies are working on core operational strategy.
In my opinion, without a clear strategy in mind it is difficult to reach the vision. I will give you an
example of strategy of InterGlobe Enterprises once a company has a clear picture of the organizational
environment, vision and mission, resources, the firm then creates a strategy to achieve the pre defined
goals. Our company deals majorly in industry of Information Technology and Aviation. Over a period
of years, both of the industries are recognized as booming. While the industries are booming, immense
of competition is also involved. To stay ahead in the industry, to meet the objectives, and to
accomplish the visionary image, IGT over a period time has developed a core organizational strategy
and top management ensure that each of us follow it. We have a very tactical approach while
developing and implementing strategies. Entire team works together and is involved in idea
generation. We motivate our employees to become leader and organize the core job responsibilities.
Our teams work on regular basis to improve the processes for high performance delivery.

Chandler-Personal Narrative
Chandler wheels me out the front hospital doors and into the early Winter air. I take a deep lung
chilling breath as we stop to wait for my mom to pull up. Due to me being a stubborn ads and not
listening when anyone said to take it easy I popped my stitches constantly which resulted in a longer
stay in the hospital due to the depth of my wounds. It s not like I can t handle a little pain here and
there.
Chandler shivered as the icy wind picked up causing my curls to swirl around my face like ribbons
trapped in the gust. My eyes were slightly watering and my fingers were tightly tucked under my
armpits to keep them from freezing off. Don t get me wrong I love the cold seasons but not so much
when all on was wearing was a worn and faded black ACDC t shirt, some blue jeans, converses, and
one of Chandler s thin dark grey jackets. My mom finally pulls up looking straight at the gloomy skies
ahead. Her face lacked any emotion and her eyes were dull as she patiently waited for me to inter the
truck. Of course since I m only 5 3 and wielding 12 stitches in my left side Chandler gently helped me
into the truck.
As I got settled in the warm leather seat I weakly smiled at him. There was sadness and regret in his
eyes as he feebly smiled back at me. He still blames himself for what happened. I slowly leaned over

RotaShield[â„¢], despite being highly effective, was withdrawn from the market less than one year
from its inauguration. By reason of associations with intussusception it had done more harm than

An Essay On Ecuador
Ecuador is a multicultural and multiethnic nation. Ecuador is the fourth smallest country in South

This assumption has all the evidence it needs to be upheld. Though millions of Catholics were
brainwashed by higher ranking church officials through cynical, selfish teachings, the reformation of
the Catholic Church saved an immeasurable amount of lives by gaining religious freedom in Europe.
To hit the tip of the iceberg, high ranking church officials would brainwash regular citizens. Though
not the type of brainwashing seen in movies, church officials found an even more efficient way to
make sure their followers stayed put. Officials forced people to work for the church ( The Roman
Catholic Church in 1500 ). Though it seems that Catholics could have chosen not work for the church,
that is how they were always taught. These rogue teachings were frequently taught to young, ignorant
people so that a priest would have to ability to remain in power ( The Roman Catholic Church in 1500
). According to Wongoo Shim, the Catholic Church also used relics as revenue which could be bought
by the people. These relics pardoned sins and granted access to heaven (Shim). Rich families would
often buy their way into a higher ranking church position. Separately, peasants were left desperate
after having to pay for christenings, marriages, burials, and anything else that required help from the
church ( The Roman Catholic Church in 1500 ). There was no other legal alternative for people. The
Catholic Church did not tolerate any deviance from its teachings.

Role Of A Human Resources Department Essay
Role and Function of a Human Resources Department In today s work environment, organizations are
continually seeking an advantage over the competition. One resource to assist with this ambition is to
utilize the human resources (HR) department as a strategic partner in the micro and macro planning of
the organization. This paper will define the role and function while distinguishing the duties and
responsibilities of an effective HR department. Background Ellard Williams, Incorporated (EWI) is a
manufacturing firm employing nearly 11,300 workers (Colorado State University Global Campus,
n.d.). At this time, the firm is experiencing deficiencies in the HR department, which is leading to
ineffective processes and a drop in profits throughout the organization. A strategic analysis revealed a
slump in growth, high turnover rate, underpaid staff, and a loss in profits if all activities remain the
same (n.d.). As a result of the unsuccessful HR department, employee motivation, performance, and
productivity are suffering that is causing production delays and high defect rates (n.d.). Role and
Function The HR professional s function is more than shuffling through applications, inputting data,
and providing reports. Among HR roles, many authors argue that the strategic role is a pivotal one for
HR professionals in today s organization (Mitchell et al, 2013, p. 900). What this means for HR
professionals is they should participate in developmental and organizational

Everything We Know To Get Started Essay
How did everything that we know today get started?
The beginning of everything, the big bang, the idea that the universe was suddenly born and is not
infinite. Up to the middle of the 20th century most scientist thought the universe as infinite and
ageless, until Einstein s theory of relativity gave us a better understanding of gravity and Edwin
Hubble discovered that galaxies are moving apart from one another in a way that fits previous
predictions. In 1964 by accident cosmic background radiation was discovered in relic of the early
universe, which together with other observational evidence made the big bang the accepted theory in
science. Since then improved technology in science like the Hubble telescope has given us a pretty
good picture of the big bang and the structure of the cosmos. Recent ... Show more content on

Finally there was light! Okay but what about that part we didn t talk about? What happened at the
beginning? This part can be defined as the big bang. We don t know at all what happened here; at this
point our tools break down. Natural laws stop making sense, time itself becomes wibbly wobbly. To
understand what happened here, we need a theory the unifies Einstein s relativity and quantum
mechanics, something countless scientist are working on right now. But this leaves us with lots of
unanswered questions. Were there universes before our own? Is this the first and only universe? What
started the big bang, or did it occur naturally based on laws that we don t understand yet? We don t
know, and maybe we never will. But what we don know is that the universe as we know it started here
and gave birth to particles, galaxies, stars, the earth, and you. Since we ourselves are made of dead
stars, we are not separate from the universe; we are part of it. You could even say that we are the
universe s way of experiencing itself. So lets keep on experiencing it, until there are know more

The Effects Of Nazi Policies On European Jews
Analyse the effects of Nazi policies on European Jews between 1933 1945 The Nazi Policies were
deliberately directed towards European Jews between 1933 1945. They were strictly enforced to
persecute Jews, limit their freedom, rights and opinions. These policies include Aryanization, The two
Nuremberg Laws and The Final solution which led to serious consequences making it one of the
greatest tragedies in history. The result of these policies were overt and deliberate persecution,
imprisonment, torture and death of around six million Jews. On September 15th 1935, during an
annual rally, Hitler released The Nuremberg Laws which consisted of two policies which were
purposefully enforced to exclude Jews from German life. There were two major policies which were
enforced where, The Law of the Reich Citizen and The Law for the Protection of German Blood and
German Honour . Each law was designed to effect German Jews in a certain way which were all a part
of the anti semitic Nazi regime s plan. The first law being The Law of the Reich Citizen was designed
to deprive Jews of their German citizenship, a secondary source outlines the effects of this law, the
one denied them civil rights and even German citizenships, despite the fact that many German Jews
had ancestors in Germany going back centuries. The Law of the Reich Citizen was particularly
designed to exclude Jews from Germans, almost as if to label them as a threat and outsiders, stripping
away their value as humans.

According to Wikipedia, abortion is the premature exit of the products of conception (the fetus, fetal
membranes, and placenta) from the uterus. It is the loss of a pregnancy and does not refer to why the
pregnancy was lost. Abortion is a very contentious issue and the attitude towards it has always been
and is still very controversial. It has caused uncounted deaths and several violent confrontations
between the supporters of the two separate parties. Pro life supporters advocate that everyone has the
right to life, even Fetus, and Pro choice supporters argue that the right to abortion is absolute. In

Pollitt also insisted that woman should not have anyone s permission to make healthcare decisions.
Contraception is one of these decisions that woman should be making with her doctor. She referred to
the example of Trust Woman, a popular motto in the pro choice movement. The movement gave the
absolute right and freedom for every woman in the abortion issue. It also supported women to make
their own decisions, no one else can make a better decision (p.15). Women seeking to terminate a
pregnancy understand what s going on. They don t need a patronizing reminder from politicians, or
difficult rules imposed by doctors, or even ethics from church or family. They only need to trust
themselves and take the right decision according to their life, health, and body. Pollitt has even gone
further with defending abortion as a constitutional right. The Supreme Court has ruled on it, in 1973,
in Roe v. Wade case, which affirms the legality of a woman s right to have an abortion under the
Fourteenth Amendment. Why is it then, that women who seek an abortion, are treated like criminals?
Laws prohibiting abortion prevent women from making the personal choices that enable them to live
the lifestyle they want, reducing their ability to contribute effectively to the society. Moreover, the
ideal abortion law, according to Pollitt, is a blank piece of paper. She approaches the

Delta Airlines Executive Summary
Delta Airlines has a long history within the aviation industry. Delta Airlines started as a crop dusting
operation, Huff Daland Dusters, out of Macon, Georgia in 1924. In 1925 Huff Daland Duster s
headquarters moved to Monroe, Louisiana to lengthen their reach from Florida, Arkansas, California,
and Mexico. At this time, Huff Daland Dusters operated eighteen aircraft, making them the largest
privately owned fleet in the world. In 1928 C.E. Woolman, founded Delta Air Lines and bought Huff
Daland Dusters. Woolman renamed them to Delta Air Services for the Mississippi Delta region. In
1929, Delta Airlines operated their first ever passenger carrying flight from Dallas, Texas to Jackson,
Mississippi. In 1941, Delta Air Lines moved from Monroe, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

filing for bankruptcy in 2005 but the pay for their employees were never amended due to restrictions,
in October 2015 those restrictions were lifted and negotiations were started and went on for ten

A Research Study On Mental Disorders
Abstract
People suffering from gender dysphoria, according to the most recent DSM 5(Diagnostic and
Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders), experience a discrepancy between the assign gender and the
expressed one. Even though not every person experience the same degree, for many people who suffer
from it the depression and anxiety is so overwhelming that they may need a gender reassignment
surgery to feel a real sense of identity. A continued hormonal therapy together with surgery can offer
an important solution for these individuals, minimizing tension between their sense of gender and their
biology. In this research Paper I am going to be talking about this important, even ethical, topic.
Mainly about what is its impact in people who suffer from it, its signs and symptoms, causes and
possible treatments. Gender Dysphoria
Formerly known as GID, gender dysphoria is a disorder (as DSM 5 classified it).Topic that has been
really controversial for many transgender people, and even for some researchers. For that reason they
reclassify it saying that gender dysphoria only applies to persons who experienced a discontent from
gender identity issues. The term is defined by the felling of identification with the opposite gender and
discomfort with the person anatomical sex. Gender and sex are not the same. The difference between
them is explained that the sex is located in the abdomen and the genital area and gender identity in the
brain. An individual with gender dysphoria can has

Inventions In Ray Bradbury s The Flying Machine
In Ray Bradbury s The Flying Machine, Bradbury claims that inventions can be helpful and harmful.
There are several details that support his theme. First, when Emperor Yuan is presenting his invention
to the wing inventor, he states, I have made birds sing, I have made forests murmur, I have set people
to walking in this woodland, enjoying the leaves and shadows and songs. He clearly explains what he
has done with his invention, as he wants the wing inventor to explain about the flying machine. The
Emperor views his invention as a peaceful work of art. He sees nothing wrong in his creation, as he
doesn t fear it could be weaponized. The invention he has made does not promote destruction, like
how he views the flying machine. When Emperor

Design And Fpga Implementation Of Ofdm Synchronization
Chapter 5 Design and FPGA Implementation of
OFDM Synchronization The channel estimation technique proposed in Chapter 4 is based on the
assumption that the coherent reception is perfect. That is, the system synchronization is perfectly
implemented. Synchronization is one of the most challenging and important tasks to any receiver
using coherent modulation, especially for OFDM systems which are highly sensitive to
synchronization errors. This chapter proposes a synchronizer based upon the delay and correlation
algorithm and the synchronization system is modeled within XSG.
Simulation results have been provided for presenting the system synchronization performance clearly.
The implementation results on FPGA are given at the end. 5.1 Synchronization for OFDM
5.1.1 Introduction to OFDM Synchronization
Generally speaking, synchronization is divided into timing and frequency synchronization. In practice,
the oscillator does not produce a carrier at exactly one frequency, and the carrier frequency is
modulated by random phase jitter [2]. The phase noise introduced results in a mismatch of frequencies
between the local oscillators at the transmitter and the receiver. In addition, Doppler effects in fading
channel also causes frequency offsets at the receiving carrier. As a result, the numbers of subcarriers
cycles within the FFT period are not integers anymore, and the orthogonality property between
subcarriers is not kept, causing ICI for an OFDM system. In contrast, in a

a year and record their improvement of these skills. Physical Description I went to the child s house on
the 20th of February a 13:00pm, I was there for about 2 and a half hours. Her name Is Hilary and she

3ft 4 inches (101cm) and weighs 2 stone and 3lbs (31 lbs). The average height and weight of a 3 year

She sang Humpty Dumpty , Ring of Roses and another song that her grandmother had taught her from
Nigeria. However when I asked her to do a small activity which involved small muscles she became
quite and relaxed. From both these activities that I asked her to do, It showed that she has two ways in
which she can behave; a calm way when involving fine motor skills and energetic way when
involving gross motor skills. Hilary showed her demanding and quiet jealous personality when her
younger sister would come over and try to join in with the activity that I was doing with Hilary. Her
temperamental side showed when she slouched off with her arms folded, I then had to go and
convince her to play another game so she would be happy again. Also after we had been playing for a
few hours she became a bit irritable and tired, and started to be bossy and greedy telling me that she
can do it herself . that made her become easily bored and distracted as well. By this time it was time
for me to go home, I told Hilary that I had to go so she cam and gave me a hug. That showed that even
though she was irritable and tired she was still affectionate enough to give me a hug before I went.
Family Background Hilary is one of two siblings, her younger sister is called Chanella. Hilary is 1
year and 2 weeks older than Chanella. Because there is such a small age gap between the two children

Essay on Servant Leader
February 5, 2004
Greenleaf s The Servant Leader
The Servant Leader discusses the importance of leaders who adopt a service oriented attitude in which
they care for the needs of others before their own. A servant leader need not be an actual servant or
have ever been a servant to become a servant leader. Rather, a servant leader is born with or adopts an
others first disposition. Climbing through the ranks may help to create a servant leader, though it is not
necessary. When leaders choose to see that the needs of their followers or their organizations are the
highest priority they become servants. The importance of servant leadership should not be
underestimated and it can be simplified and embodied in one timeless phrase: ... Show more content

In a way, the servant leader reads his or her audience and adjusts accordingly.
Under the heading Know the Unknowable – Beyond Conscious Rationality is a discussion of
creativity. Leadership . . . imposes some intellectual demands that are not measured by academic
intelligence ratings (14). The success of a leader is not determined solely on their intellect. While
education certainly contributes, it is not a guarantee. What leaders need to know goes beyond what can
be taught in a classroom or read in a book. The servant leader relies on intuition creativity. One of my
favorite quotations appears in this section: Others will depend on him to go out ahead and show the
way because his judgment will be better than most. Leaders, therefore, must be more creative than
most; and creativity is largely discovery, push into the uncharted and the unknown. Every once in a
while a leader finds himself needing to think like a scientist, an artist, or a poet (15). Ultimately, I find
that Greenleaf would say that a combination of intellect and instinct make the best leaders. This
quotation also suggests that a leader must be versatile rather than an expert in one or two areas. He or
she should be able to step into the shoes of others and find new perspectives. Greenleaf s discussion of
Awareness and Perception offers some especially important life

Analysis Of Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night By Dylan...
The twentieth century was a period were the Aesthetic movement helped widen the breach between
writers and the general public (Greenblatt 959). One of the major authors of the Twentieth century was
Dylan Thomas. Thomas was born in 1914 in Swansea, Wales. At the age of sixteen, he left school to
become a writer. However, in 1953 Thomas died in New York due to his heavy drinking problem. His
most famous poem was Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night which was published in 1952 (Ried
notes) .His central message in the poem is not to accept death quietly. Thomas uses old age, wise men,
wild men, and grave men to give examples to deliver his message. Thomas starts the poem off by
talking about men in their old age. He informs us about the old age men by saying, Old age should
burn and rave at close of day/ Rage, rage against the dying of the light (lines 2 3). He implies that old
age should have a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

he cannot be avoided. They regret not completing their good deed because they wanted to spread their
knowledge to rest of the world. These type of men are just want to be known and understood by others
just like a nerd. The word lightning demonstrates symbolism, which means power in the poem (Reid
Lecture). The third type of men are the wild men. Thomas says Will men who caught and sang the sun
in flight/ And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way (lines 10 11). Thomas states that the wild men
enjoy living their life to the fullest. These type of men don t get to cherish their moments because they
live by the minutes. The wild men represent the younger generation of men, because of their stupidity
they use to get attention from others (Reid

Importance Of Nonverbal Communication
Proper nonverbal communication can be as effective as giving all the right verbal answers in a job
interview. However, poor nonverbal communication can hinder an interviewee s success in a job
interview. Reference for Business lists an interviewee s arrival time to an interview as a form of
nonverbal communication to an interviewer. If you arrive to an interview late, you are nonverbally
telling the hirer that you are irresponsible, disorganized or not interested in the position. If you arrive
on time or a few minutes early, you send a positive message. Another nonverbal form of
communication at the start of a job interview is the handshake. Psychology Today claims the best way
to make a good first impression is through your handshake. It should be strong and last between three
and four seconds. You should make eye contact with your interviewer and shake her hand with a
complete grip. Depending on your occupation, you may be required to communicate messages to
others on a regular basis; certain occupations such as teachers, salespeople, journalists, doctors,
lawyers and corporate executives spend a great deal of their workday communicating with others.
Using nonverbal cues can enhance how people receive your communication. Nonverbal
communication indicates how a person is feeling in relation to what they are saying, and it also
reflects how people react to the message. Communicating an important message to your colleagues
with excitement and enthusiasm may have a

by concrete details from body paragraphs, and the writer uses the example of CNN reporting Oikos

Determining The Function Of The Ordinal Scale
Before conducting a statistical analysis, every researcher needs to measure the depended variable. The
measurement depends on the type of variable. Different types are measured differently. So, the
researcher has to decide on the appropriate scale of measurement. There are typically four levels of
measurement: nominal, ordinal, interval, and ratio.
1. The purpose of the nominal scale is for identification and represents the lowest level of
measurement. With a nominal scale, the researcher only names or categorizes responses (i.e.
male/female, high/low, unemployed, employed, retired, student). Thus, nominal scale measures
variables that are non numeric or where the numbers have no value.
2. The purpose of the ordinal scale is to allow comparisons of the degree to which two subjects
possess the dependent variable. The ordinal scale provides a rank order (i.e. very dissatisfied,
somewhat dissatisfied, somewhat satisfied, or very satisfied). However, it is the order of the values
that is important, not the differences between them. Ordinal scales usually measures non numeric
variables like satisfaction, happiness, discomfort, etc
3. The Interval scale provides information about both the rank order and the exact differences between
the values (i.e. pain scale). However, interval scales do not have a true zero point.
4. The Ratio scale (i.e. height and weight) is the most informative scale because it tells the researcher
about order, the exact value between units, and has a

Hamlet Revenge Vs Revenge Essay
No trait is more justified than revenge in the right time and place (Meir Kahane). In the play Hamlet
by William Shakespeare revenge is a prominent theme throughout. Revenge causes various characters
to act blindly through their anger and emotion, rather than through reason. The desires of Hamlet,
Laertes and Young Fortinbras each exhibit how the overall theme of Hamlet revolves around revenge.
Hamlet must get revenge on Claudius for killing his father. Laertes must avenge his father and sister
by demanding retribution on Hamlet. Young Fortinbras rescues his fathers long lost nobility by
gaining territory. Each character losing their fathers are determined all through the play by this
yearning and requirement for revenge.
The theme of revenge is prevalent very early in the play; the play starts off with Hamlet father being

Crime Data Measuring Crime Essay
Crime throughout the United States is measured through statistics. Whether they are small crimes,
blue color crimes, drugs, and even murder, these statistics help the criminal justice system to develop
new laws that need to be put in place and to see how current programs are working. There are two
statistical reports used to measure crime in the United States; they are the (UCR) Uniform Crime
Report and the (NCVS) National Crime Victimization Survey. There is a third and it is self reported
crimes by individuals. These systems being used are a great foundation for tracking trends in crimes
but they are only as accurate as the people/systems that give to them. Although these are here to report
criminal information to several agencies, they do not reflect all the numbers because there are a lot of
crimes that go unreported.

Certain crimes through the United States are not reported because some individuals do not feel
comfortable reporting them and or some criminals do not always get caught. When criminals are
caught, they do not always go to trial because either there is not sufficient evidence or witnesses do
not come forward. Recidivism statistics today should be looked at more closely, especially prior to
these criminals being released. The problem could be that the programs that are implemented in the
system to reform the criminals prior to release are not working or the criminals are beating the system
by lying. Either way, these two statistics go hand in hand because the crimes are either being
committed by new criminals or repeat offenders and some of these crimes are not being reported. The
reporting systems and law enforcement agencies should go back and review these numbers and find a
better way to track these criminals, criminal activities, arresting procedures, and prison

Ella Fitzgerald Essay
Being a touring singing and performer can become a very rough and tiring job. Being on the road
traveling for many months, playing different shows every night would make you really realize if
singing is what you love to do. Ella was a singer for more than 60 years. Ella Fitzgerald goes down in
history as one of the greatest female singers proven by the many awards and respect she received.
Ella earned many awards throughout the many years she was a singer. She received her first Grammy
in 1958, for best female vocal performance. Not only at that Grammys shows was she awarded her
first grammy she also became the first African American female to win a award. Along with the many
Grammy she won, she also sold over 40 millions copies. Over her lifetime she recorded over 200
albums and about 2,000 songs. She was also awarded the image award for lifetime achievement and
the presidential medal of freedom and The Kennedy Center for performing arts medal of honor. One
of the highest honors she received was from president Ronald Reagan, The National Medal of art and

She received this name because she was different. She didn t want to create music that everyone was
singing. She used a method called scat. One of the first songs that she used this new method was
called Flying home . When singers are trying to use the method scat, the singer makes their voices
sound like different instruments in bands and orchestra. Many people have said that scat is the most
influential jazz record of all time. By creating these new ways sounds to us in her music is made
people more interested in her music making her become more and more

Analysis Of The Crucifixion Of Christ
The crucifixion of Christ is the most important event that is recorded in the Bible. One of Christ s final
sentences before dying on the cross, It is finished! , means that the price of salvation for all the world
was paid in full with the crucifixion of Jesus (John 14:6, NAS). Jesus dying on the cross for our sins is
not just a story in the Bible, it is an event that a man was tortured until He died all because He loved
us so much that we could have everlasting life (John 3:16, NAS). The painting of Christ being tortured
evokes an emotional response. The image makes the story in the Bible come to life.
The tempera on canvas was a triptych painted for St. John s in Hamburg, Germany in 1394 (Art and
the Bible, 2017). The depiction of this event by Bertram of Minden is one of the very few art pieces
that show the nailing of Jesus to the cross (Art and the Bible, 2017). During the Christianization of
Germany in medieval times, the Bible influenced almost every aspect of German life (Jeep, 2017, p.
54). During the time of Bertram, the Bible was primarily a Latin document only available to the
educated (Jeep, 2017, p. 54). Readings of the Bible during church services were spoken or chanted in
Latin. Germans who did not understand Latin could attend church and have access to the stories and
teachings of God through paintings and motifs such as the painting of the crucifixion by Bertram.
Why is the crucifixion of Jesus so important? If the Romans at that time were willing

Witchcraft Essay
Witchcraft is a fascinating subject that comes out of many regions of the world. There have been time
periods in which witchcraft was a prominent feature in society, and there has been times when it has
died down. One of the most interesting things about witchcraft is how it has physically changed, how
the concept of witchcraft has changed, and how people perceive and view it has changed over
centuries. What many people do not know is that witchcraft is actually still practiced today in the US
and all over the world. After a Religious Identification Survey by the City University of New York in
2001, it was found that Wicca, which is what current day witches call themselves, was the country s
fastest growing religion, with 134,000 people, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was largely meant to discourage people for practicing these villainous acts of treachery. The bible
even goes as straightforward as to say Do not practice divination or sorcery (Leviticus 19:26). Many
other primary and secondary sources cite the bible for their argument, in fact arguments are largely
based around them.
An example of using a bible to prove a point is on a website called Harry Potter Power. It is about
witchcraft in terms modern era literature. Many authors such as JK Rowling have written using
heavily influenced witchcraft in their work, and it is essential to the plot of the book. C.S. Lewis has
similar magical stories, but he does not think witchcraft to be good, or valid. He says, People all
across America are being deluged with books on witchcraft. And the situation is going to get worse,
not better. For witchcraft brings you into contact with demons (Harry Potter Power/destroy). One
might think that a website with the name, Harry Potter Power would talk of the power a fantastic book
can imbue someone with, but in reality, the website talks about how books such as

INTRODUCTION
English teachers don t need to be told the enormous value and pleasure of reading whole texts as class
readers. Little compares with that feeling when a class are truly engaged in the reading of a really
good book. Those moments stay with you forever indeed, they fuel the desire to find another such
book to repeat the experience, again and again. Fortunately, contemporary writers of fiction for young
adults continue to offer us fresh opportunities to enjoy literature with our students.

  • 2. Chelydra Spentina Powerful and aggressive, the common snapping turtle, Chelydra serpentina, is a heavy bodied species with a distinctive primitive look. The genus name, Chelydra, means water serpent, while the species name, serpentina, means snakelike. Formally described by the Swedish botanist and zoologist Carolus Linnaeus (1707 1778) in 1758, the common snapping turtle is one of only two living members of the chelonian family Chelydridae, the other member being the alligator snapping turtle, Macrochelys temminckii. While population levels are currently stable, C. serpentina is still heavily exploited, and researchers continue to document population declines in portions of its range. • 3. The Development Of Children s Education 5 7 years: This age group of children will have to go through a transition from nursery to school; reception year, (where practitioners still follow EYFS) and then children move on to key stage one, (where teachers follow the National Curriculum Key Stage 1). Children s education is still based on play, however now children have a lot more of adult led activities in which they learn to concentrate for longer periods of time. The environment in schools that surrounds children is more complex because the children get to learn more, therefore some displays might contain bigger amount of more complex mathematical language than we can find in a nursery setting. As children go into key stage 1, it isn t the only environmental look that changes, the equipment is also more complex and advanced because it is aimed for children that are now at a higher stage of mathematical development. These policies include Aryanization, The two Nuremberg Laws and The Final solution which led to serious consequences making it one of the greatest tragedies in history. The result of these policies were overt and deliberate persecution, imprisonment, torture and death of around six million Jews. On September 15th 1935, during an annual rally, Hitler released The Nuremberg Laws which consisted of two policies which were purposefully enforced to exclude Jews from German life. There were two major policies which were enforced where, The Law of the Reich Citizen and The Law for the Protection of German Blood and German Honour . Each law was designed to effect German Jews in a certain way which were all a part of the anti semitic Nazi regime s plan. It also supported women to make their own decisions, no one else can make a better decision (p.15). Women seeking to terminate a pregnancy understand what s going on. They don t need a patronizing reminder from politicians, or difficult rules imposed by doctors, or even ethics from church or family. The Supreme Court has ruled on it, in 1973, in Roe v. Wade case, which affirms the legality of a woman s right to have an abortion under the Fourteenth Amendment. Why is it then, that women who seek an abortion, are treated like criminals? • 25. A Research Study On Mental Disorders Abstract People suffering from gender dysphoria, according to the most recent DSM 5(Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders), experience a discrepancy between the assign gender and the expressed one. Even though not every person experience the same degree, for many people who suffer from it the depression and anxiety is so overwhelming that they may need a gender reassignment surgery to feel a real sense of identity. A continued hormonal therapy together with surgery can offer an important solution for these individuals, minimizing tension between their sense of gender and their biology. In this research Paper I am going to be talking about this important, even ethical, topic. Mainly about what is its impact in people who suffer from it, its signs and symptoms, causes and possible treatments. Gender Dysphoria Formerly known as GID, gender dysphoria is a disorder (as DSM 5 classified it).Topic that has been really controversial for many transgender people, and even for some researchers. For that reason they reclassify it saying that gender dysphoria only applies to persons who experienced a discontent from gender identity issues. The term is defined by the felling of identification with the opposite gender and discomfort with the person anatomical sex. Gender and sex are not the same. The difference between them is explained that the sex is located in the abdomen and the genital area and gender identity in the brain. An individual with gender dysphoria can has ... • 27. Design And Fpga Implementation Of Ofdm Synchronization Chapter 5 Design and FPGA Implementation of OFDM Synchronization The channel estimation technique proposed in Chapter 4 is based on the assumption that the coherent reception is perfect. That is, the system synchronization is perfectly implemented. Synchronization is one of the most challenging and important tasks to any receiver using coherent modulation, especially for OFDM systems which are highly sensitive to synchronization errors. This chapter proposes a synchronizer based upon the delay and correlation algorithm and the synchronization system is modeled within XSG. Simulation results have been provided for presenting the system synchronization performance clearly. The implementation results on FPGA are given at the end. 5.1 Synchronization for OFDM 5.1.1 Introduction to OFDM Synchronization Generally speaking, synchronization is divided into timing and frequency synchronization. In practice, the oscillator does not produce a carrier at exactly one frequency, and the carrier frequency is modulated by random phase jitter [2]. The phase noise introduced results in a mismatch of frequencies between the local oscillators at the transmitter and the receiver. In addition, Doppler effects in fading channel also causes frequency offsets at the receiving carrier. As a result, the numbers of subcarriers cycles within the FFT period are not integers anymore, and the orthogonality property between subcarriers is not kept, causing ICI for an OFDM system. A servant leader need not be an actual servant or have ever been a servant to become a servant leader. Rather, a servant leader is born with or adopts an others first disposition. Climbing through the ranks may help to create a servant leader, though it is not necessary. Leadership . . . imposes some intellectual demands that are not measured by academic intelligence ratings (14). The success of a leader is not determined solely on their intellect. While education certainly contributes, it is not a guarantee. What leaders need to know goes beyond what can be taught in a classroom or read in a book. The servant leader relies on intuition creativity. One of my favorite quotations appears in this section: Others will depend on him to go out ahead and show the way because his judgment will be better than most. Leaders, therefore, must be more creative than most; and creativity is largely discovery, push into the uncharted and the unknown. Every once in a while a leader finds himself needing to think like a scientist, an artist, or a poet (15). Ultimately, I find that Greenleaf would say that a combination of intellect and instinct make the best leaders. This quotation also suggests that a leader must be versatile rather than an expert in one or two areas. He or she should be able to step into the shoes of others and find new perspectives. However, in 1953 Thomas died in New York due to his heavy drinking problem. His most famous poem was Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night which was published in 1952 (Ried notes) .His central message in the poem is not to accept death quietly. Thomas uses old age, wise men, wild men, and grave men to give examples to deliver his message. Thomas starts the poem off by talking about men in their old age. However, poor nonverbal communication can hinder an interviewee s success in a job interview. Reference for Business lists an interviewee s arrival time to an interview as a form of nonverbal communication to an interviewer. If you arrive to an interview late, you are nonverbally telling the hirer that you are irresponsible, disorganized or not interested in the position. If you arrive on time or a few minutes early, you send a positive message. Another nonverbal form of communication at the start of a job interview is the handshake. Psychology Today claims the best way to make a good first impression is through your handshake. It should be strong and last between three and four seconds. You should make eye contact with your interviewer and shake her hand with a complete grip. • 36. Determining The Function Of The Ordinal Scale Before conducting a statistical analysis, every researcher needs to measure the depended variable. The measurement depends on the type of variable. Different types are measured differently. So, the researcher has to decide on the appropriate scale of measurement. There are typically four levels of measurement: nominal, ordinal, interval, and ratio. 1. The purpose of the nominal scale is for identification and represents the lowest level of measurement. With a nominal scale, the researcher only names or categorizes responses (i.e. male/female, high/low, unemployed, employed, retired, student). Thus, nominal scale measures variables that are non numeric or where the numbers have no value. 2. The purpose of the ordinal scale is to allow comparisons of the degree to which two subjects possess the dependent variable. The ordinal scale provides a rank order (i.e. very dissatisfied, somewhat dissatisfied, somewhat satisfied, or very satisfied). However, it is the order of the values that is important, not the differences between them. Ordinal scales usually measures non numeric variables like satisfaction, happiness, discomfort, etc 3. The Interval scale provides information about both the rank order and the exact differences between the values (i.e. pain scale). However, interval scales do not have a true zero point. 4. The Ratio scale (i.e. height and weight) is the most informative scale because it tells the researcher about order, the exact value between units, and has a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One of Christ s final sentences before dying on the cross, It is finished! , means that the price of salvation for all the world was paid in full with the crucifixion of Jesus (John 14:6, NAS). Jesus dying on the cross for our sins is not just a story in the Bible, it is an event that a man was tortured until He died all because He loved us so much that we could have everlasting life (John 3:16, NAS). The painting of Christ being tortured evokes an emotional response. The image makes the story in the Bible come to life. The tempera on canvas was a triptych painted for St. John s in Hamburg, Germany in 1394 (Art and the Bible, 2017). The depiction of this event by Bertram of Minden is one of the very few art pieces that show the nailing of Jesus to the cross (Art and the Bible, 2017).
