How To Prevent Prison Population
The prison population rises each year. This increasing trend has been directly linked to the reoccurring
arrests of released prisoners. Some people believe that there is not an answer to fixing this problem.
However, research and studies show that there is an answer to the reoccurring problem. Even with this
conclusion, there continues to be many opinions on what should or should not be done to prevent the
prison population from continuing to rise on a yearly basis. Most people who are incarcerated will
only be there for a period of time before release. The majority of the prison population will be released
at some point. Some will serve shorter sentences than others. Only a small percentage of prisoners
make up the population that

Advertising And The Emotional Response Of Advertising
One very prevalent demographic that advertisers appeal to are parents. People are able to relate with
these family oriented ads more than any other type of advertisement out there. From cars, to toys, to
baby products, and more, many consumer items are something that parents will need to buy. With
parents being one of the largest possible groups of consumers in our world today, its no wonder these
companies are targeting them. I looked at and analyzed 4 different commercials from 3 different
companies; Lego, Huggies, And Coca Cola. All of them were specifically tailored to parents. I found
there to be an incredible amount of similarities almost as if they were following a specific formula. In
addition there were also some differences in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To start off, the colors in the scenes were always very soft, almost like they were straight out of an
award winning Sundance festival film. Also, in every ad the main scenery was a very realistic home;
the type of house that the ideal modern, middle class family would own. The houses were not too
fancy but not too worn down. This shows that they were specifically appealing to America s middle
class, which most parents fit into. The characters were very happy, normal looking children and young
parents, across the board. All of these visual details tie into the emotional response that they are trying
to get out of the potential consumers. Creating a very sentimental and well written dialogue is equally
important, if not more than how the footage is presented. The other main similarity that you will
notice, is the insightful and thought provoking speech and sentiment that is portrayed, as well as the
music used in the commercials. In every single ad either the child or the parent was supposedly
narrating the entire clip. The goal was to create very meaningful dialogue to go along with the equally
meaningful scene. This is another way that the advertisers can tap into the consumers brain and evoke
a powerful emotional response that creates a lasting memory. The main thing that was highlighted in
the dialogue was the special bond that occurs between mother and child, as well as father and child.
While both dads and moms

Environmental Issues of Japan
The focus of this paper is the show you three environmental issues of that japan have in its country.
The three environmental issues that Japans has are the Energy management, nuclear power, and
fishing and whaling. Energy management, the first environmental issue, is how much japans waste s
energy on the cell phones and insulations in their homes. Nuclear power, the second environmental
issue, nuclear power provides 35% of electricity and we all remember the earthquake that destroyed
half of them that was a big issue. Fishing and Whaling, the third environmental issue, is about the food
the fish way too much, and there is less fish and whales in their water for them to keep doing it.

The Kashiwazaki Kariwa Nuclear Power Plant was completely shut down for 21 months following an
earthquake in 2007. The 2011 earthquake and tsunami caused the failure of cooling systems at the
Fukushima I Nuclear Power Plant on March 11 and a nuclear emergency was declared. This was the
first time a nuclear emergency had been declared in Japan, and 140,000 residents within 20 km of the
plant were evacuated. The total amount of radioactive material released is unclear, as the crisis is on
going. On 6 May 2011, Prime Minister ordered the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Plant be shut down, as an
earthquake of magnitude 8.0 or higher is likely to hit the area within the next 30 years.
Fishing and Whaling, the third environmental issue, is about the food the fish way too much, and there
is less fish and whales in their water for them to keep doing it. In the Japanese diets, fish and its
products are more prominent than other types of meat. Because of the depletion of ocean stocks in the
late 20th century, Japan s total annual fish catch has been diminishing rapidly. Japan, along with the
United States and the European Union, occupies the large part of international fish trade. Japanese fish
catches were the third in the world in 2000, following China and Peru. The United States, Chile,
Indonesia, the Russian Federation and India were other major countries. By 2004, the number of adult

Dementia Issues
Older people are said to be a vulnerable group in society and it is notable that those with dementia are
at a significant increase torisk of abuse, (see Manthorpe, et al 2005). The author of this paper spent her
placement in an adult social work team for a local authority, for people age 65 years and over. It soon
became apparent that different types of dementia seemed to permeate the caseload. The cases were
initially referred to social services due to challenges faced by a person to maintain daily living tasks
after a fall and hospital admission for example. Fundamentally, the majority of cases were people with
a form of dementia, and each case was as complicated as the next. In order to highlight not only the

Dementia is a term used for a variety of symptoms caused when brain cells stop working correctly
with a cognitive functioning decline, (Alzheimer s disease International, 2012). Some types of
dementia include; Alzheimer s disease, Vascular dementia, frontal temporal dementia and Parkinson s
disease and Lewy body dementia, (Alzheimer s research, UK; Banerjee et al, 2007; Weiner Lipton
2009). One in three people who die after the age of 65 are found to have dementia, and of those, two
in three are female, (Department of Health, DoH, 2015). Some of the symptoms associated with
dementia include, increased difficulties in communication, action and response, changes in awareness,
attention and judgment, and visual spatial difficulties, (Alzheimer s research, UK, 2017). Data
collection states that dementia is expected to increase to 131.5 million worldwide by 2050 from the
current 46.8 million, (Alzheimer s Disease International, 2015). Furthermore, the DoH, (2015), report
that in the UK there are currently 850,000 over the age of 65 and a further 45,000 under the age of 65
living with dementia, and 69% of all people living in care homes have dementia. Elder abuse is

Electronic Cigarettes Essay
Abstract
Smoking traditional cigarettes causes various adverse health effects; however, the causes of smoking
electronic cigarettes remains unknown. The proposal presents a study that will measure fundamental
frequency. Approximately eighty University of Central Florida students who are non smokers, ages 18
to 24 years old, will smoke an electronic cigarette. Each student will be measured on fundamental
frequency before and after an electronic cigarette smoking session. It is predicated that a non smokers
use of an electronic cigarette will immediately produce a reduction in fundamental frequency, which
may serve as a precursor to signal future medical pathologies similar to that of traditional cigarettes.
The comparisons of pre versus post smoke sessions for vocal fold vibration will be analyzed based on
the fundamental frequency scoring. The demographic variable, gender, may also impact fundamental
frequency results, and will too be analyzed. The proposal provides an overview of the literature and
specific methodological strategies for implementing the research. Expected outcomes and future
research will be discussed.

What Is Gender-Based Stereotyping Sabotage Women In The...
Marissa Mayer, Indra Nooyi, Irene Rosenfeld, Meg Whitman, Sheryl Sandberg. Now you might ask
who these women are. These women are women of power. They are the Chief executive officers and
Chief operating officer of major businesses that I m sure most of you have heard of. Yahoo, Pepsi,
Kraft, eBay and Facebook. So if these businesses are thriving under their control, which we all know
they are, why are so few more women holding chief positions? How few women really are holding
these positions? How are these women being treated in their workplace? What can be done to change
these numbers and circumstances?
The women to men ratio for chief positions in business are shocking. In an article by Catalyst which is

The first of these obstacles is the most obvious one, sexism. Even though we have come a long way,
sexism and gender stereotypes can still be found in the workplace, making promotions and work
harder for women. The effects of gender based stereotyping can be devastating, potentially
undermining women s capacity to lead, and pose serious challenges to women s career advancement,
the study finds. (Nhammond. Catalyst Study Exposes How Gender Based Stereotyping Sabotages
Women in the Workplace. Catalyst. N.p., 19 Oct. 2005. Web. 05 Mar. 2017.) Some of these
stereotypes are expecting women to take notes and be bring the coffee and refreshments for meetings
and even having to clean up the office kitchen. And because they spend so much time working on
these small tasks, they often spend more time in the office to finish their own tasks. As well, women
are also more likely than men to be victims of sexual harassment in the workplace. In AWARE s
survey, 79% of the respondents who reported having experienced workplace sexual harassment were
female; 21% were male. Sexual harassment includes unwanted sexual comments, touching and even
unwanted sexual texts or emails. This treatment that women receive means that women are often seen
as objects rather than powerful, intelligent people. Another problem problems is maternity leave. If
women want to have children, then they have to leave work for quite a while.

Don John Character Analysis
When thinking about the well known comedy Much Ado About Nothing, by William Shakespeare the
audience is quick to focus on the wit and comedy that the play has to offer, rather than the understated
villain who easily disappears in the background. While reading the play, one can posit that Don John
is not the typical villain who acts with a specific motive in mind, rather, he is acting out of an
obligation he feels to serve as an antagonist considering his position as a bastard. This is demonstrated
in his dialogue, which reveals his inner turmoil on being chained to the villainous role and his
willingness to act on any malicious opportunity that presents itself to him. This is significant in that, it
provides another layer to our villain and causes the audience to think beyond the first layer that is
easily presented, and into the true inner motives of the character.
Don John claims that the resentment people have towards him is rooted in the fact that he is a bastard
and any friendly intentions towards him are fraudulent ones. From the beginning of the play Don John
does not come across as a friendly figure, especially compared to the rest of the soldiers that come
with the party to Messina in a flourish of good and excitement. As Leonato welcomes the party he
seems to implicate that he is extending the welcome on to Don John, because of his relationship with
Don Pedro, the prince and his brother. Don John remarks in a conversation, ...it better fits my blood to

Aristotle And Dante Discover The Secrets Of The Universe
Many different cultures around the world believe in different things and being apart of the LGBTQ
community can be tough for some people and characters in these books. Aristotle and Dante Discover
the Secrets of the Universe and Tell Me Again How a Crush Should Feel deal with coming of age
experiences of teenagers and both books break stereotypical gender roles. In the 21st century people
apart of the LGBTQ community can live a hard life like Aristotle and Leila when they faced cultural
pressures that made it challenging to be themselves. Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the

Throughout the book Ari is terrified that his parents and friends won t accept him for being who he
really is which is gay. Tell Me Again How A Crush Should Feel also shows us this struggle that Ari
had. Leila was a young girl who didn t know who she was and who she loved. She went through many
journeys of love and finally figured out that she liked girls. She was also terrified that her parents and
friends wouldn t accept her for being gay. Leila s parents are very strict and they come from a very
original and strict religion and country. They believe in loving the other sex and that their way is the
only way. It ended well and not as bad as she thought it would go. They accepted it but it took them
awhile to be okay with it but it worked on them. On page 212 213 Leila is talking about her parents
and their background of where they come from and what happens and says You know where they re
from, being gay is illegal? They imprison people over there for feeling like I do!

My Favorite Place In My Life
Quick and easy to use transportation has created the ability to travel worldwide many times in your
life. From airplanes to boats to cars to trains all the way to buses, it is hard to not travel around the
world, which it makes it difficult to choose one spot as your all time favorite place to be. But luckily
in my life, I know that Sydney s Frozen Custard on the shores of Lake Superior in Grand Marais is my
favorite place to be. I have been blessed with countless experiences of travel from touring Italy,
snorkeling the Mexican coasts, surfing the Dominican waves, exploring the land of Ethiopia, and even
inhaling the fresh air of the Netherlands, but no adventure of mine has lived up to the relaxing Grand
Marais atmosphere. The tradition dates back to 2005, the first time I experienced the crisp Lake
Superior air. My family pained through the six hour drive, and found it was well worth it. We fell in
love with the small town ambiance, and to this day still cannot let go if it. So many monumental
family experiences can be traced back to Grand Marais. Every year we celebrate America s birthday
by watching the fireworks explode over the placid and reflective Lake Superior water. Skiing the
powdery fresh hills of Lutsen Mountain and coming back to a warm and cozy room at East Bay suites,
while drinking the free steamy hot cocoa given away at the inn is a memory that will never escape me.

Water is probably my biggest fear. Not drinking water but giant body of water, like the ocean or a
lake. For some odd reason I always think I am going to drown every time I get in any type of body of
water. I think that if I am going to try and become less scared of water I need to learn how to do some
stuff first. First, I probably need to learn to swim. I know how to Doggy Paddle but I don t think that
counts when it comes to swimming Atlantic or Pacific. Another thing I need to do is try not to worry
as much when I go out on a boat or just go swimming. I get so stressed to the point that I can t even
have fun because I am so worried of drowning. I plan to reach my goals by doing a couple of things.
How I plan on learning to swim is I m going swim more in the summer in a swimming pool. I would
go to a swimming class but I went to one when I was four, five, and six and it didn t get me anywhere.
The second thing that I am going to do is learn how to relax. Learning how to relax is going to be
harder than learning to swim because I stress over the smallest

Chinese Cultural Issues
Cultural Issues/Differences China has a very old and complex culture. Traditions vary between towns,
cities and country areas.
Chinese culture developed in isolation from the world which means it is very different, and
interesting. The Chinese are not very religious, and have blended different religions over time. In
business, the Chinese value relationships. In architecture, symmetry and width are strong eg
Forbidden city. Chinese food is very important, and local recipes are now found all over the world.
Cultural activities, like the Temple Fair and the Lantern Festival (Chinese New Year) are special times
for locals.
Customs Tipping is NOT part of the Chinese culture, haggling is normal. Beijing though which has
many tourists and has become somewhat used to tipping. Greeting each other in China is by bowing or
nodding. When addressing people use their title and surname. Acknowledge the oldest person first. In
China you should avoid physical contact, and especially avoid touching a woman in public. Public
displays of affection are frowned on. Dress in most settings in China people are expected to dress
modestly, not showing too much bare skin. Public toilets often just a hole in the floor = No privacy!.
There is usually a fee to pay, and you will need your own toilet paper. McDonalds does have western
style toilets.

Drugs And The Treatment Of Alcohol Withdrawal Syndrome Essay
Has anyone ever known an alcoholic? Perhaps someone you love such as a spouse, a family member,
or a friend? Have you ever wished there was a magic pill that could cure Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD)
and Alcohol Withdrawal Syndrome (AWS)? Researchers have discovered medications that could cure
this disorder. In the article Baclofen in the Treatment of Alcohol Withdrawal Syndrome: A
Comparative Study vs Diazepam , authors Giovanni Addolorato, MD, Lorenzo Leggio, MD, Ludovico
Abenavoli, MD, Roberta Agabio, MD, Fabio Caputo, MD, Esmeralda Capristo, MD, Giancarlo
Colombo, PhD, Gian Luigi Gessa, MD, and Giovanni Gasbarrini, MD discuss the benefits of using
medication to aide in the side effects of AWS. Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) is a debilitating disease
that should be treated using the medications Baclofen or Diazepam because research has shown that
both medications significantly reduce anxiety, tremors, shakes, and agitation which are symptoms of
alcohol withdrawal symptoms (AWS) (baclofen.org, 2006). AUD is a pattern of uncontrollable alcohol
consumption. It causes a person s life to be preoccupied with alcohol, and if not consumed, it causes
AWS. It can range from mild to severe, but a mild case can escalate and lead to serious problems. It is
important to treat even a mild case as early as possible (mayoclinic.org, 2015).

Macbeth Ambition Research Paper
The Power of Ambition
Ambition is the force that pushes society to make aspirations and dreams a reality.
Although this is normally an admirable quality to possess, one s ambition can easily take over, and
cause damage to not only themselves, but others as well. In William Shakespeare s tragedy Macbeth,
ambition is the motivating factor for characters actions. Resembling a cancer, taking over and
destroying everything in it s path. This is most evident in the character Macbeth whose lust for power
is responsible for his own tragic demise. Macbeth first experiences vaulting ambition after being told
enticing prophecies by supernatural beings, then through persuasion from Lady Macbeth to take over
the throne, and finally, upon becoming King, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

highest position of power. Committing evil deeds has almost become second nature. According to

Bead Game Essay
Bead Game by Ishu Patel was created in 1977. Bead Game is a stop motion animated film that was
created by arranging single beads into shapes lines, mammals, and mythological creatures. Further
into the film the creatures absorb and devour one another, creating other figures and creatures from the
remaining beads. These beads end up evolving into scenes of modern human warfare. In the beginning
of the film Patel begins with on simple white bead and continues to add other beads and color making
his arrangements of the beads into animated figures. While the beads dance there is sound of
percussion that compliments the movement of the beads due to the synchronization of both sound and
movement in the animation. The film reminded me of the creation of life; ... Show more content on

Patel animates the theory of human evolution by showing a monkey transforming into a caveman and
then into present day human. The film is successful in synchronizing the characters towards the end of
the film. Patel shows synchronization through his animating when there are two men throwing a spear
at one another and the beads are arranged in a way that the two mirror each other. Another historical
event that is portrayed is ancient warfare, dating all the way back to what seems to be around 2700
BCE. I began to notice a pattern or a timeline up to this point, starting with the creation of life then
going through important moments of the history of human creation. I think the creator of this film is
trying to say that a design can start off as something so small and simple, and then fueled by creativity
the design turns into an art form. This interpretation that I have made isn t obvious; it is just something
that I took away from the animation after watching it. Something that is noticeable throughout this
animation is how frequent the use of red is. Patel used red for his creatures that showed characteristics

The History of American Christians
Throughout the year Christians have strived to do the will of God. From to converting people into
Christians to making a society pleasing to God. Christians in America have been present since the
colonial times. In the late 19th century, they were still thriving in the United States. In the early 20th
century they were still involved in the broader American culture, committed to shaping public policy
and welcome in political life. But as time continued, evangelicals started to create their own
subculture, no longer involving themselves in politics and the rest of the American culture. By mid to
late 20th century, evangelicals saw that the nation was becoming further way from God and it was
affecting them. They sought to partly reinsert themselves in the American culture and politics and
found they were not as welcome as before. Even though they are not welcome, Christians must try to
do the will of God by turn peoples eyes back to Him in everyday life and politics. In the late 19th
century to the early 20th century, evangelical Christians were involved in the American culture.
Evangelical Protestants shaped public policy by trying to reform the nation, according to their
convictions. That is the case with prohibition. Protestants thought that alcohol destroyed self discipline
and self control, not just drunkenness. Evangelicals sought to rid the nation of the wickedness of
alcohol. William Riley, a baptist pastor in Minneapolis, preached about the immorality of liquor.

regarding not only the necessity of each drink as a requisite to life, but also the role of each drink as a
stimulus for cultural diffusion and development. Various historical developments, ranging from water
purification to convivia, are utilized to depict each beverage s appeal and the contributions of each
drink towards its respective era of prosperity, subsequently illustrating various historical themes that

The rise in popularity of spirits is evident in rum s establishment as the favored beverage of North
American colonists since rum was not only cheaper than brandy (owing to the fact that rum was made
from leftover molasses), but rum also did not need to be shipped over the Atlantic. The new surge of
rum thrived as the most profitable manufactured product made in New England, aiding America s
newfound prosperity. Meanwhile, the Molasses Act that was passed in an attempt to maintain Britain s
sugar industry, which could not compete effectively against other foreign sugar producers, was widely
resented and generally circumvented by the colonists through smuggling, consequently undermining
respect for British law and initiating defiance towards laws deemed unreasonable. The following
Sugar Act in addition to the newly revised and enforced Molasses Act cultivated hostility to the distant
parliament where they [American colonists] had no representation (Standage, 119). Ultimately, the
American Revolution, fueled by rum, was generated through the differing perspectives and
hierarchical systems of rule of Britain and America. Yet it was the rising popularity of whiskey (which
was more efficient to cultivate inland in comparison to rum) and the corresponding Whiskey Rebellion
that further developed and displayed the function of America s government. Although the liquor excise
that fueled the colonists discontentment, eventually starting the rebellion, failed and was repealed
shortly, the governmental intervention involved in the suppression of the Whiskey Rebellion
demonstrated that federal law could not be ignored, thereby effectively portraying America s
maintenance of its system of rules. As such, Standage s arguments are furthered, evident by America s
rise to independence in addition to the

have compared to those faced in the land that has historically dared and tried many great nations such
as the Macedonian Army around 330 B.C. and the Russian Army in the 1970 s and 1980 s. Because of
this, this paper will be an informative look at the challenges the United States Army Aviation

Sassoon s Mother was a Thorneycroft, dismissing his Jewish roots as giving him Hybrid vigour when
combined with the English blood of his maternal ancestors. Major Huntley s view shows that even
though he is quick to disregard Sassoon s unfavorable Jewish roots considering his more nationally

Wisconsin Rock Formation Essay
Wisconsin contains rocks ranging from around 359 million years all the way to 2.8 billion years old.
Fortunately, this wide range of rocks has patterns in their placement across the state. If one were to dig
down to solid rock, in general, the age of upper most rocks layers increases in age going from west to
east, and also from south to north. The history of the formation of Wisconsin to its present day
condition happed through major geological events such as various tectonic processes, sedimentation,
metamorphism, and glaciation. Let s walk through the major events that have come to define
Wisconsin geology. The oldest rocks in Wisconsin are in the northern most part of the state near
Ontario and they range from 2.8 1.0 billion years old. These rocks formed when North American

During rifting of continents around 2.4 billion years ago, major passive margin, continental plate
drifting apart to form mid ocean ridge, was produced throughout Wisconsin. By, 1.875 billion years,
the margin became a subduction zone, boundary where tectonic plates collide, this resulted in banded
Iron Formation rocks(BIFs) being deposited in northernmost Wisconsin. Through time, these BIFs
have become metamorphosed and deformed. While this was happening, around 1.85 billion years ago
an island arc, oceanic islands with intense volcanic activities, crashed into the continent. Later on
around 1.84 billion years ago another continental crustal body crashed into the continent. These
continental collisions formed mountains called The Penokean Mountains. Metamorphism and
sedimentation of this mountain is responsible for the other older rocks we see in northern Wisconsin.
These rocks include the Powell Kyanite Schist and quartzite. The Mazatzal orogeny beginning around
1.65 billion years ago resulted in further crust being added through continent continent

Life Is A Of Life
Life is something that requires a considerable amount of physical and mental effort. Some are
fortunate enough to have everything prepared for them. Such as some are born into money; some
come across good fortune yet most work hard from the start to get somewhere in the world. It just all
depends on how you were brought into this world. For some people, life is full of stress and hardships.
That s how life was for someone very dear to me Kimberly Domonique. She had it difficult from the
start however, she chose not to let life get her down. When life gave her lemons, she made lemonade.

She moved to New Jersey to get away from the violence and that s when she started high school.
When she got to high school at the age of fourteen years old, that is when she met other students of

it. In school the Haitians and the black Americans were separated voluntarily because of the same
issues that occurred in Queens. The difference was that there were more Haitians in New Jersey and
they stood together to defend each other. Meanwhile during the drama, she found her high school
sweetheart which became her husband of twenty five years. Throughout the years of their relationship
they went through several changes and hardships, they were blessed with three amazing kids who
reside in the USA today.
Life in Haiti was not a walk in the park for Kimberly. Now, school is extremely difficult and back then
the competition for scholarships was at an all time high. Not many people were wealthy. Most could
barely afford to pay for school and only a small amount was considered well off.
Placing monetary value on an individual s life is measured not by the way an individual has lived, but
rather the individual s income; at least that is how society views life. Every individual values life from
a different perspective. And while every human will find value in life, those values will not be the
same as everybody else. Some people will value life as a privilege and believe life

Musically Inspired Movements Essays
From infancy to adulthood, music has been a huge part of our lives. Whether one is listening to their
favorite song in the car or out at a social event, music not only is very entertaining, but possesses the
ability to influence specific behaviors in an individual. With music, various emotions are triggered
using schema s and person level and context level construct s. Schema s are like a folder in a
document that collects and combines a host of day to day interactions in the everyday life of an
individual. For example, think about every time you have attended a birthday party. By attending
multiple birthday parties, you then have a schema of what to expect and not to expect at a birthday
party. This concept is also applied to music. Our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Michael Jackson hoped that society would be aware about the mismanagement of the Earth. As a
result, the Earth Song was given much attention. This musical piece was able to change many people s
perspective towards the Earth as the song raised awareness around the world just as Michael hoped
for. However, when hearing his musical piece, individual s reacted differently between one another
(Barret et al, 2010). While many people finally became aware of how mistreated the world we live in
is, not everyone was touched on an emotional aspect due to person level constructs (Barret et al,
2010). However, even until this day, the Earth Song will remain relevant until the world is healed of
our mismanagement. Also during the late 1990 s, another movement was starting to begin in the Hip

Biggie Smalls and Bad Boy Records and the West Coast represented by Tupac and Death Row

of fans altered as they too were getting involved by choosing between the two sides. Nonetheless, both
Tupac and Biggie lived a short life. Yet, the deaths of both Tupac and Biggie gave the real world of
Hip Hop pathos. After their deaths, both musicians emerged as one of Hip Hop s greatest icons. Due to

African American Athletes s Influence On Society
Over the past 50 years, the views on African American basketball players by society has dramatically
changed. As African Americans have gained rights, athletes have continued to influence society. Since
then, the influence these star players have had on society has become overwhelming. African
American basketball players have gone from being quarantined from the league, to becoming children
s icons. African Americans players were forced to create their own leagues and teams in order to play
professionally. As a result of this, the world famous Harlem Globetrotters were created. The
Globetrotters still have a lasting impact on society up to this date. During the 1950s, when African
Americans began to enter the NBA, white players feared they would be harmful to the league. In the
1970s, just after the ABA and NBA merger, the NBA nearly ended as a result of the lack of fan
interest. White fans disliked the black game and emerging black stars. In just a ten year period, the
views towards these dominant players completely changed, as players like Magic Johnson and
Michael Jordan completely revolutionized the game. These stars forced the public to watch the games,
and appreciate these players. In addition to transforming the league, the views towards African
Americans by the rest of society changed as well as a result of these players. Along the way on this
arduous journey, African Americans successfully transformed American culture and had an everlasting
impact on society.

Growth Of Monetary And India
GROWTH OF MONETARY AGGREGATES IN INDIA IN POST REFORM PERIOD (1990 91 to
2014 15)
Nandini Sud
ABSTRACT
Money supply plays a pivotal role in an economy in terms of affecting its prices, output, exchange
rate, etc. In a developing economy like India where development efforts are majorly made through
government expenditure, money supply in the economy tends to increase rapidly, which may cause
over expansion of money supply. Thus, there arises a need for comprehensive study of monetary
aggregates and their components to regulate money supply which provides a base for conducting
monetary policy in the economy. The present study is an attempt to analyze the growth in various
monetary aggregates and their components for India in the post reform period of 1990 91 to 2014 15.
INTRODUCTION Money supply is one of the most important macroeconomic variable in an
economy and plays a pivotal role in its economic growth and development. Along with being an
important determinant of price stability, money supply also asserts substantial influence on the
economy s output, employment, exchange rate, foreign trade, etc. In a developing economy like India,
most of the development activities are undertaken by incurring government expenditure (such as
enhancing infrastructure, providing quality education and healthcare, programs for agriculture and
MSME s, etc.) which causes a rapid increase in money supply and may also lead to its over expansion.
However, if the dual objective of economic

Although Asian Americans did not face as much racism as the African Americans in the late 1960s,
they still felt that they needed to break out of the restraints placed on them by the white community, as
the Black Power Movement pushed had for in the late 1960s. African Americans of the Black Power
Movement felt that their lives were being determined and manipulated by the whites who had control
over American society. In the first declaration of The Black Panther Platform, they explain, We want
freedom. We want power to determine the destiny of our Black Community. We believe that black
people will not be free until we are able to determine our destiny. (Bloom and Breines, 146). The
members of this movement believed that whites always had power over them because African
Americans were never allowed the opportunities to show their full potential without the interference
of the white community. In an SNCC essay, entitled The Basis of Black Power, Stokely Carmichael
proclaims that, Negroes in this country have never been allowed to organize themselves because of
white interference. As a result of this, the stereotype has been reinforced that blacks cannot organize
themselves. (Bloom and Breines, 120). The Black Power Movement believed that the only way to

Determining Website Credibility Essay
Determining Website Credibility
Jessica Rojas
Chamberlain College of Nursing
Abstract
Advancements in technology have led people to be affected by an overflow of information. Many
websites contain information that is unmonitored making it difficult for nurses to obtain accurate,
credible information. It is essential for people such as health care professionals to know how to
determine the credibility of a website in order to ensure that the information being provided to the
patients is accurate. Nurses guide their practice by the use of evidence based practice and provide their
patients with information on a routine basis. Thus, it is important for them to ensure a website is
credible before providing the patient with any type of information. By the use of the criteria authority,
information, objectivity, ease of navigation, and privacy/security policies, nurses can more effectively
and efficiently determine website credibility. The criteria was applied to the Center for Disease
Control (CDC) website in order to determine the credibility of this website with satisfactory results.
Determining Website Credibility While advances in technology can be beneficial, the growing need to
have answers at our fingertips has contributed to issues with the credibility of websites. The internet is
bursting with information that can be obtained through search engines or databases. However,
problems arise when it comes to determining the accuracy behind the content obtained because some

The first person in The Iliad that can be considered god like is Trojan prince Hector. He is also a
commander on the Trojan side, and he truly the greatest Trojan warrior. The character of this Trojan
hero is dynamic and changes throughout the book. At the beginning of the book he acts like a great

the later part of the book we see Hector as a brave warrior but we are also introduced to his other side,
his fear of death. Although he, like all of the other warriors in the Ancient times, knows that through
the battle he can earn his eternal glory, he cares more about his family and he knows that if the Trojan
army fails, the Greeks will kill his son and take his wife as a slave girl.
We first meet Hector when he is already on the battlefield and he is encouraging his brother Paris after
he challenged great Greek warrior, Menelaus. Hector shows that he is an honorable man, and that
fleeing and not fighting is not a way of a real Trojan hero. Paris brother tells him ...Would to god you

School Is Bad For Children By John Holt
This nation s best and strongest leaders attended school as children. Leaders such as John F. Kennedy
and Franklin D. Roosevelt ( School House to White House ). Can their success as leaders be attributed
to school? Or would they have been successful without that education? School is where they were
inspired and pushed to their limits. The challenges of studying various subjects, completing
homework, forming new ideas, participating in extracurricular activities, and making friends are part
of the common heritage of an American education shared by everyone including our Presidents (
School House to White House ). In John Holt s School is Bad for Children Holt makes a plea to free
children from the classroom (Preface). He outlines several ways that America s education system is
harming children and introduces several ways he believes it can be improved. Although Holt makes a
few logical arguments, his essay lacks credibility and his ideas to abolish school attendance, to always
have paired learning, and to end fixed curriculum (leave much to be argued)
Holt makes several assumptions and talks of schools that do certain things but he never uses evidence
to back up what he says. This makes his essay less credible because it is only written from his
experiences and his opinion. Holt says, In a school I know of... (Holt 75), ... a number of schools...
(Holt 75), and In many schools... he can t even talk to them at lunch (Holt 73). Who are these schools?

The Education Of Higher Education
Institutions of higher learning compete amongst each other, enabling them to focus on subjects that do
not pertain to education. The education system has become more of a business organization, making
learning their second priority and further shifting their focus from the quality of education and
students to the quantity of students and the popularity of their institution. The economy of the country
has also had a big impact on shaping universities operating systems. American modern economy is
based on knowledge, thus there is an increasing high demand for higher education. Higher education
has become a market system, and universities have to change their traditional structure in order to
become a valuable competitor; although education is in demand, the supply of quality in education is
decreasing. Competition among traditional universities and the increase of for profit schools have
diminished the value of higher education. Educational instiutions are evolving into businesses and
primarily focusing on the profit aspect.Education is a very valuable business, it creates a lot of free
cash flow and there is a high rate of educational needs that continue to grow. In the essay The Sandbox
Experiment , by Peter Sacks, the author makes an argument that professors are placed in situations
where they are forced to moderate their course material in order to please their students(Sacks 1 2).

Essay On Biographies Of Hegemony And The Naked Citadel
In both essays Biographies of Hegemony by Karen Ho and The Naked Citadel by Susan Faludi, there
are two higher institutions, which would be Wall Street and the Citadel. Both of their goals is to
remold an individual to fit their criteria. Each individual has a certain identity and presents themselves
in a specific way. People are known to change due to influences in their everyday lives, which
eventually changes their identities into someone completely different. In these two essays, it becomes
evident that because of the pressures put upon people by these hierarchies, people unconsciously
change and are shaped into new individuals while hiding their true identities. Any person can be
completely stripped of their old identities by falling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Naked Citadel, the boy s identity is essentially being performed. They are distinguished as
superior non feminine men, while behind the scenes they are typically performing feminine acts.
Violently harassing the young knobs, showering together, and making their beds together was where
they could show their true selves. Faludi mentions how the result is ruthless intimacy, in which
physical abuse stands in for physical affection, and every display of affection must be counterbalanced
by a display of sadism (Faludi, 100). The boys become so infatuated with showing their feminine side
that when they snap back to reality they realize it is a sign of weakness and use anger to feel relief.
The Cadets act like they are on a stage playing a role in a play much like the Treehouse where men
dress up as Drag Queens. Both identities are being performed, which means while playing a role you
are still truly yourself. This is also seen in Biographies of Hegemony, while Princeton and Harvard
students are getting recruited, they put on this elite, smart act of attraction to be a part of this high
institution of Wall Street. It is claimed that the most distinguishing features of investment banking are
their smartness and exclusivity (Ho, 166). This shows how by putting themselves in a different

Freedom In Lord Of The Flies
Freedom vs Safety In the novels Night and Lord of the Flies, there are many parallels surrounding the
theme of freedom. Night portrays the historical events of World War II. The control factor in this story
is prominent. Hitler convinces his followers to help him imprison everyone that believes should not be
a part of his Aryan race. In Lord of the Flies the presence of captivity is still there, but less extreme. A
group of young boys are stranded on an island. In that sense, they are very much confined. However,
they retain the ability to think for themselves and choose their own actions. While there is a clear
difference between the two novels and they take place in opposing settings, they both explore the
same theme of freedom. They show ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The boys in Lord of the Flies are given total freedom, but are only able to maintain order for a short
period of time before everything goes south. In Lord of the Flies the pain is in the struggle between
the boys who revert, through fear, to a primitive state and turn into savage hunters, and those who are
trying vainly to preserve foresight and order, (Pritchett). The boys are thrust into an environment
where they no longer have the pressures of society compelling them to be civilized. In the initial
encounter with the pig, Jack is unable to overcome his trained aversion to violence to even strike a
blow at the animal. Soon, however he and his choirboys turned hunters make their first kill. They
rationalize that they must kill the animals for meat. The next step back from civilization occurs and the
meat pretext is dropped; the real objective is to work their will on others, (Slayton). That is just one
example of the horrors that can occur when freedom is given to those who are not ready to use it
responsibly. It is clear that freedom can be good or bad, that being said, the opposite must also be true;
there are some cases where a controlled lifestyle can be beneficial to those living

The Buddha only claimed his title of the awakened one through his spiritual journey, which began
when the illusion of his sheltered life was broken upon realizing the inescapable realities of human
existence. As old age, sickness and death became apparent as the various stages of human life, this
initial understanding of existential suffering carries on as the underlying principle of the Buddha s
teachings. Sarvam anityam, meaning that all things are transient, illustrates the fundamental concept
the Buddha applies to reject the idea of ātman as the eternally existing self and essence of the sentient
being. This no self doctrine, anātman, was a radical stance originating in an era of embedded eternalist
thought, following the Vedic traditions and philosophy of the Upaniį¹£ads. This rejection of ātman
offers a path as a middle way, the Dhamma, between the self indulgence of eternalism and self
mortification according to materialist thought such as Cārvāka. I will attempt to demonstrate how the
Buddha s mandate allows for divergence from the obsession of the self through his anātman stance, to
instead focus on the individual s present relationship with the natural world, which offers a more
meaningful perspective on current existence that the Upaniį¹£ads and Cārvāka cannot account for. The
Upaniį¹£ads does not offer a concrete understanding of the true self, but rather describes it as an
unidentifiable entity and defines ātman by what it is not, as the Katha Upaniį¹£ad states, he

Stop Cutting The Pacific Ocean Without Plastic Analysis
Stop Polluting the Pacific Ocean with Plastic
If someone says that the area of the floating plastic garbage in the central North Pacific Ocean is twice
the size of Texas, will you believe it? Charles Moore, an oceanographer who first came up with the
idea of Great Pacific Garbage Patch , caught sight of plastic trash floating in the North Pacific Gyre
when he was sailing from Los Angeles to Hawaii. I was confronted...with the sight of plastic, Moore
wrote in an essay for Natural History, It seemed unbelievable, but I never found a clear spot. No
matter what time of day I looked, plastic debris was floating everywhere: bottles, bottle caps,
wrappers, fragments ( History Algalita ). Besides the plastic that we can see from the surface, far
below the surface, more plastic exists. The plastic is slowly releasing toxic chemicals, harming the
water and the marine animals, and finally flows to the human body. Plastic makes our lives more
convenient, but without proper treatment, it will pollute the ocean instead; therefore, we should reduce
the amount of plastic waste we produce in order to prevent further pollution to the Pacific Ocean and
to protect the marine animals. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Plastic, whether it is for a container, a wrapper or the product itself, has become an everyday part of
our lives. The plastic itself is not a waste. We use it to contain food, construction workers wear it to
protect their heads, and arthritic patients have it for their replaced hips. However, Only 9 percent of
the total plastic waste generated in 2012 was recovered for recycling ( Plastics, Common Wastes
Materials ). If we just throw it away instead of recycle it, it will become a plastic waste and pollute the
environment. When it reaches the ocean, it will turn into floating debris, which is even harder to

The Importance Of Body Shaming In My Life
When I was younger, my dad would constantly tease my siblings and I. He would say he was making
us thick skinned to prepare us for what some people would say to us when we were older. He would
specifically make fun of us about our weight. As we got older, he stopped teasing my siblings but
continued teasing me. He would constantly tell me I was over weight and should go to the gym.
Eventually, it was so frequent and repetitive that I began to believe every word he said. I remember
believing that I could not have fun with my friends because I would need to be at the gym to please
my dad. I hit a low point in my life in which I genuinely believed I was over weight and worthless. I
began buying baggy clothes and in the summer, I dreaded going to the beach with friends or family.
This belief that I was over weight and worthless began to take over my life. I remember believing
ending my life would be a better solution than having to live in my own body. It was not until I started
dating this guy and surrounded myself with caring and loving friends that I began to realize my self
worth. They constantly reassured me that I was beautiful and I should not look to other people for
approval. I was blessed to have them in my life. In our country, body shaming is a real problem. I
constantly see news reports about girls committing suicide because they are bullied about their weight.
I was fortunate enough to be able to meet the people I met who helped me realize my worth. I do not

Cross Cultural Management Between China And Australia
Introduction
With the unstoppable trend of globalisation, it becomes extremely significant for international
businesses to have a thorough understanding of different cultures. Hofstede (1980, pp. 21 23) defines
culture as the collective programming of the mind distinguishing the members of one group or
category of people from another . This essay examines Hofstede s cultural framework and suggests
that Hofstede s cultural framework is an outstanding and authoritative tool to analyze culture
differences. In this essay, cultural frameworks will be discussed firstly, following by a discussion of
my cultural scores and background. Finally, recommendations on cross cultural management between
China and Australia will be provided.
Discussion of cultural frameworks
Geert Hofstede developed the widely applied Hofstede s cultural dimensions, which mainly focuses
on how different countries with different cultural backgrounds handle different anthropological
problems that occur in cross cultural communication (Hofstede 1980). The first five Hofstede s
dimensions will be discussed in following paragraphs. It should be clear that there is no good and bad
between two elements in each dimension since every culture has its unique features and ways to
function.
Power distance is defined as the extent to which the less powerful members of organizations and
institutions accept and expect that power is distributed unequally (Hofstede 1991, p.28). Global

What Are The Stereotypes In The Bean Trees
In the two novels, The Bean Trees and I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, authors Barbara
Kingsolver and Maya Angelou use both of their stories to challenge the stereotypes that society has
put in place about the idea of femininity and the gender roles of men and women. In The Bean Trees,
protagonist Taylor Greer unexpectedly becomes a mother when she cares for a Native American child
given to her on the side of a road, however, she does not behave like society s version of a maternal
figure in that she takes on roles that would be likely belong to a man. On the other hand, in I Know
Why the Caged Bird Sings, Angelou writes an autobiography and she portrays her own older brother,
Bailey, as a more feminine character, although he is expected to have manly qualities as an African
American male. Because of the high standards and stereotypes that our society has ... Show more

Nonetheless, Kingsolver and Angelou use the characters of Taylor and Bailey to exemplify how we
can break the conventional stereotypes of our culture and live based off of our own personal standards,
without feeling pressured to conform to the world. Society often depicts mothers as gentle, caring
maternal figures that invest their time into taking care of their child while at home, though we see a
different picture of a mother portrayed in The Bean Trees. After a few months of living with her newly
received baby girl, Taylor moves in with a woman named Lou Ann, who is a single mother just like
her. Lou Ann and Taylor soon become their version of a family, as Lou Ann takes the role of the

income nation in 2020. Malaysia are very committed to achieve that title. This is proving by many
programmes and plans that is being constructed by the Government. Among the programmesare the
National Transformation Programmes (NTP) or also known as the Dasar Pembangunan Negara
(DPN). NTP is set up to change how the Malaysia runs its economic system into a more efficient and
profitable one.
So, what are the purposes of the Government to set such NTP programmes? How will it benefits
Malaysia? In developing the NTP, government has focused on certain aspects to fix on. Those aspects
are the quality of life, the cost of living, the safety and security of the rakyat as well as promoting the
values critical for the achievement of our goals.
Thus, the main goal of the NTP is to guide and drive Malaysia to achieve the status of a developed
nation with a high income by the year 2020.it is so important for Malaysia to have and achieve a great
administration system as to gain the title of high standard nation by 2020.

Rural areas are also well develop by the government to ensure peoples obtain an equal right in
enjoyment of the national resources. Rural areas would not be isolated by the government and they
will be benefited in term of the socio economy. Lastly the Fifth, almost 170,000 poor were
successfully taken out of poverty as a result of an increase in income in the five years. This is the most
vital aspect that the government wants to get rid of. Poverty will prevent Malaysia form achieving the
high income nation status. NTP has structured lots of beneficial plans to relinquish poverty from the

Adversity In Horace s Character In The Scarlet Letter
Adversity is a difficulty or misfortune. Although adversity is challenging to the individual it affects, it
is up to a person how they chose to deal with that difficulty. When faced with adversity, an individual
has two choices; embrace his or her problems and live life to the fullest despite challenges, or carry his
or her difficulties as a burden hindering the overall quality of life. Roman Poet, Horace, said,
Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents which in prosperous circumstances would have lain
dormant. He is expressing the idea that not only can adversity be dealt with and embraced, but it even
brings out talents in people that would not have shone through if they were not met with challenges. In
The Scarlet Letter, written by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For Dimmesdale however, his sin is easier hidden. Perhaps the best evidence of this contrast is in an
exchange between the two characters; Hawthorne writes, The judgment of God is on me, answered the
conscience stricken priest. It is too mighty for me to struggle with! Heaven would show mercy,
rejoined Hester, hadst thou but the strength to take advantage of it (Hawthorne 43). The reader can see
here that Hester and Dimmesdale have a totally different mindset when it comes to their shared
adversity. Hester teaches an important lesson with her example that adversity does not have to be
regarded in a negative way, and what you chose to do with it can either hinder or improve you as an
individual. Hester discovered inner strength, while Dimmesdale tucked away any good quality he had.
Hester encouraged new life and starting again, while Dimmesdale would rather wallow in his
suffering and swim in seas of

  • 2. How To Prevent Prison Population The prison population rises each year. This increasing trend has been directly linked to the reoccurring arrests of released prisoners. Some people believe that there is not an answer to fixing this problem. However, research and studies show that there is an answer to the reoccurring problem. Even with this conclusion, there continues to be many opinions on what should or should not be done to prevent the prison population from continuing to rise on a yearly basis. Most people who are incarcerated will only be there for a period of time before release. The majority of the prison population will be released at some point. Some will serve shorter sentences than others. Only a small percentage of prisoners make up the population that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Advertising And The Emotional Response Of Advertising One very prevalent demographic that advertisers appeal to are parents. People are able to relate with these family oriented ads more than any other type of advertisement out there. From cars, to toys, to baby products, and more, many consumer items are something that parents will need to buy. With parents being one of the largest possible groups of consumers in our world today, its no wonder these companies are targeting them. I looked at and analyzed 4 different commercials from 3 different companies; Lego, Huggies, And Coca Cola. All of them were specifically tailored to parents. I found there to be an incredible amount of similarities almost as if they were following a specific formula. In addition there were also some differences in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To start off, the colors in the scenes were always very soft, almost like they were straight out of an award winning Sundance festival film. Also, in every ad the main scenery was a very realistic home; the type of house that the ideal modern, middle class family would own. The houses were not too fancy but not too worn down. This shows that they were specifically appealing to America s middle class, which most parents fit into. The characters were very happy, normal looking children and young parents, across the board. All of these visual details tie into the emotional response that they are trying to get out of the potential consumers. Creating a very sentimental and well written dialogue is equally important, if not more than how the footage is presented. The other main similarity that you will notice, is the insightful and thought provoking speech and sentiment that is portrayed, as well as the music used in the commercials. In every single ad either the child or the parent was supposedly narrating the entire clip. The goal was to create very meaningful dialogue to go along with the equally meaningful scene. This is another way that the advertisers can tap into the consumers brain and evoke a powerful emotional response that creates a lasting memory. The main thing that was highlighted in the dialogue was the special bond that occurs between mother and child, as well as father and child. While both dads and moms ... The Kashiwazaki Kariwa Nuclear Power Plant was completely shut down for 21 months following an earthquake in 2007. The 2011 earthquake and tsunami caused the failure of cooling systems at the Fukushima I Nuclear Power Plant on March 11 and a nuclear emergency was declared. This was the first time a nuclear emergency had been declared in Japan, and 140,000 residents within 20 km of the plant were evacuated. The total amount of radioactive material released is unclear, as the crisis is on going. On 6 May 2011, Prime Minister ordered the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Plant be shut down, as an earthquake of magnitude 8.0 or higher is likely to hit the area within the next 30 years. Fishing and Whaling, the third environmental issue, is about the food the fish way too much, and there is less fish and whales in their water for them to keep doing it. In the Japanese diets, fish and its products are more prominent than other types of meat. Because of the depletion of ocean stocks in the late 20th century, Japan s total annual fish catch has been diminishing rapidly. Japan, along with the United States and the European Union, occupies the large part of international fish trade. Japanese fish catches were the third in the world in 2000, following China and Peru. • 6. Electronic Cigarettes Essay Abstract Smoking traditional cigarettes causes various adverse health effects; however, the causes of smoking electronic cigarettes remains unknown. The proposal presents a study that will measure fundamental frequency. Approximately eighty University of Central Florida students who are non smokers, ages 18 to 24 years old, will smoke an electronic cigarette. Each student will be measured on fundamental frequency before and after an electronic cigarette smoking session. It is predicated that a non smokers use of an electronic cigarette will immediately produce a reduction in fundamental frequency, which may serve as a precursor to signal future medical pathologies similar to that of traditional cigarettes. The comparisons of pre versus post smoke sessions for vocal fold vibration will be analyzed based on the fundamental frequency scoring. The demographic variable, gender, may also impact fundamental frequency results, and will too be analyzed. The proposal provides an overview of the literature and specific methodological strategies for implementing the research. Expected outcomes and future research will be discussed. • 8. Don John Character Analysis When thinking about the well known comedy Much Ado About Nothing, by William Shakespeare the audience is quick to focus on the wit and comedy that the play has to offer, rather than the understated villain who easily disappears in the background. While reading the play, one can posit that Don John is not the typical villain who acts with a specific motive in mind, rather, he is acting out of an obligation he feels to serve as an antagonist considering his position as a bastard. This is demonstrated in his dialogue, which reveals his inner turmoil on being chained to the villainous role and his willingness to act on any malicious opportunity that presents itself to him. This is significant in that, it provides another layer to our villain and causes the audience to think beyond the first layer that is easily presented, and into the true inner motives of the character. Don John claims that the resentment people have towards him is rooted in the fact that he is a bastard and any friendly intentions towards him are fraudulent ones. From the beginning of the play Don John does not come across as a friendly figure, especially compared to the rest of the soldiers that come with the party to Messina in a flourish of good and excitement. As Leonato welcomes the party he seems to implicate that he is extending the welcome on to Don John, because of his relationship with Don Pedro, the prince and his brother. Bead Game is a stop motion animated film that was created by arranging single beads into shapes lines, mammals, and mythological creatures. In the beginning of the film Patel begins with on simple white bead and continues to add other beads and color making his arrangements of the beads into animated figures. Another historical event that is portrayed is ancient warfare, dating all the way back to what seems to be around 2700 BCE. I began to notice a pattern or a timeline up to this point, starting with the creation of life then going through important moments of the history of human creation. • 18. The History of American Christians Throughout the year Christians have strived to do the will of God. From to converting people into Christians to making a society pleasing to God. Christians in America have been present since the colonial times. In the late 19th century, they were still thriving in the United States. In the early 20th century they were still involved in the broader American culture, committed to shaping public policy and welcome in political life. But as time continued, evangelicals started to create their own subculture, no longer involving themselves in politics and the rest of the American culture. By mid to late 20th century, evangelicals saw that the nation was becoming further way from God and it was affecting them. They sought to partly reinsert themselves in the American culture and politics and found they were not as welcome as before. Even though they are not welcome, Christians must try to do the will of God by turn peoples eyes back to Him in everyday life and politics. In the late 19th century to the early 20th century, evangelical Christians were involved in the American culture. Evangelical Protestants shaped public policy by trying to reform the nation, according to their convictions. That is the case with prohibition. Protestants thought that alcohol destroyed self discipline and self control, not just drunkenness. Evangelicals sought to rid the nation of the wickedness of alcohol. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The rise in popularity of spirits is evident in rum s establishment as the favored beverage of North American colonists since rum was not only cheaper than brandy (owing to the fact that rum was made from leftover molasses), but rum also did not need to be shipped over the Atlantic. The new surge of rum thrived as the most profitable manufactured product made in New England, aiding America s newfound prosperity. Meanwhile, the Molasses Act that was passed in an attempt to maintain Britain s sugar industry, which could not compete effectively against other foreign sugar producers, was widely resented and generally circumvented by the colonists through smuggling, consequently undermining respect for British law and initiating defiance towards laws deemed unreasonable. The following Sugar Act in addition to the newly revised and enforced Molasses Act cultivated hostility to the distant parliament where they [American colonists] had no representation (Standage, 119). Ultimately, the American Revolution, fueled by rum, was generated through the differing perspectives and hierarchical systems of rule of Britain and America. Yet it was the rising popularity of whiskey (which was more efficient to cultivate inland in comparison to rum) and the corresponding Whiskey Rebellion that further developed and displayed the function of America s government. Although the liquor excise that fueled the colonists discontentment, eventually starting the rebellion, failed and was repealed shortly, the governmental intervention involved in the suppression of the Whiskey Rebellion demonstrated that federal law could not be ignored, thereby effectively portraying America s maintenance of its system of rules. • 21. Heritage and Identity in Pat Barker s Regeneration The presence of Jews in England has been a source of controversy for many reasons. On page 35 of Pat Barker s historical novel Regeneration, Siegfried Sassoon reveals the nature of his relationship with his father, who left home when he was five, and gives an account of his Jewish history. Though he hadn t been raised Jewish and apparently had no association with his Jewish relatives, Sassoon was subjected to the discrimination that was often seen in England before and during WWI. Through Sassoon s Jewish heritage and the other characters relation to the past, Barker exposes the need of mankind to identify with the past in order to come to terms with the present. Fortunately, this wide range of rocks has patterns in their placement across the state. If one were to dig down to solid rock, in general, the age of upper most rocks layers increases in age going from west to east, and also from south to north. The history of the formation of Wisconsin to its present day condition happed through major geological events such as various tectonic processes, sedimentation, metamorphism, and glaciation. Through time, these BIFs have become metamorphosed and deformed. While this was happening, around 1.85 billion years ago an island arc, oceanic islands with intense volcanic activities, crashed into the continent. Later on around 1.84 billion years ago another continental crustal body crashed into the continent. These continental collisions formed mountains called The Penokean Mountains. Thus, there arises a need for comprehensive study of monetary aggregates and their components to regulate money supply which provides a base for conducting monetary policy in the economy. The present study is an attempt to analyze the growth in various monetary aggregates and their components for India in the post reform period of 1990 91 to 2014 15. The challenges of studying various subjects, completing homework, forming new ideas, participating in extracurricular activities, and making friends are part of the common heritage of an American education shared by everyone including our Presidents ( School House to White House ). The boys are thrust into an environment where they no longer have the pressures of society compelling them to be civilized. Soon, however he and his choirboys turned hunters make their first kill. They rationalize that they must kill the animals for meat. Sarvam anityam, meaning that all things are transient, illustrates the fundamental concept the Buddha applies to reject the idea of ātman as the eternally existing self and essence of the sentient being. This no self doctrine, anātman, was a radical stance originating in an era of embedded eternalist thought, following the Vedic traditions and philosophy of the Upaniį¹£ads. This rejection of ātman offers a path as a middle way, the Dhamma, between the self indulgence of eternalism and self mortification according to materialist thought such as Cārvāka. I will attempt to demonstrate how the Buddha s mandate allows for divergence from the obsession of the self through his anātman stance, to instead focus on the individual s present relationship with the natural world, which offers a more meaningful perspective on current existence that the Upaniį¹£ads and Cārvāka cannot account for. The Upaniį¹£ads does not offer a concrete understanding of the true self, but rather describes it as an unidentifiable entity and defines ātman by what it is not, as the Katha Upaniį¹£ad states, he ... Stop Cutting The Pacific Ocean Without Plastic Analysis Stop Polluting the Pacific Ocean with Plastic If someone says that the area of the floating plastic garbage in the central North Pacific Ocean is twice the size of Texas, will you believe it? Charles Moore, an oceanographer who first came up with the idea of Great Pacific Garbage Patch , caught sight of plastic trash floating in the North Pacific Gyre when he was sailing from Los Angeles to Hawaii. I was confronted...with the sight of plastic, Moore wrote in an essay for Natural History, It seemed unbelievable, but I never found a clear spot. No matter what time of day I looked, plastic debris was floating everywhere: bottles, bottle caps, wrappers, fragments ( History Algalita ). Besides the plastic that we can see from the surface, far below the surface, more plastic exists. The plastic is slowly releasing toxic chemicals, harming the water and the marine animals, and finally flows to the human body. Plastic makes our lives more convenient, but without proper treatment, it will pollute the ocean instead; therefore, we should reduce the amount of plastic waste we produce in order to prevent further pollution to the Pacific Ocean and to protect the marine animals. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Plastic, whether it is for a container, a wrapper or the product itself, has become an everyday part of our lives. The plastic itself is not a waste. We use it to contain food, construction workers wear it to protect their heads, and arthritic patients have it for their replaced hips. However, Only 9 percent of the total plastic waste generated in 2012 was recovered for recycling ( Plastics, Common Wastes Materials ). If we just throw it away instead of recycle it, it will become a plastic waste and pollute the environment. When it reaches the ocean, it will turn into floating debris, which is even harder to ... • 44. The Importance Of Body Shaming In My Life When I was younger, my dad would constantly tease my siblings and I. He would say he was making us thick skinned to prepare us for what some people would say to us when we were older. He would specifically make fun of us about our weight. As we got older, he stopped teasing my siblings but continued teasing me. He would constantly tell me I was over weight and should go to the gym. Eventually, it was so frequent and repetitive that I began to believe every word he said. I remember believing that I could not have fun with my friends because I would need to be at the gym to please my dad. I hit a low point in my life in which I genuinely believed I was over weight and worthless. I began buying baggy clothes and in the summer, I dreaded going to the beach with friends or family. This belief that I was over weight and worthless began to take over my life. I remember believing ending my life would be a better solution than having to live in my own body. It was not until I started dating this guy and surrounded myself with caring and loving friends that I began to realize my self worth. They constantly reassured me that I was beautiful and I should not look to other people for approval. I was blessed to have them in my life. In our country, body shaming is a real problem. I constantly see news reports about girls committing suicide because they are bullied about their weight. I was fortunate enough to be able to meet the people I met who helped me realize my worth. I do not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Cross Cultural Management Between China And Australia Introduction With the unstoppable trend of globalisation, it becomes extremely significant for international businesses to have a thorough understanding of different cultures. Hofstede (1980, pp. 21 23) defines culture as the collective programming of the mind distinguishing the members of one group or category of people from another . This essay examines Hofstede s cultural framework and suggests that Hofstede s cultural framework is an outstanding and authoritative tool to analyze culture differences. In this essay, cultural frameworks will be discussed firstly, following by a discussion of my cultural scores and background. Finally, recommendations on cross cultural management between China and Australia will be provided. Discussion of cultural frameworks Geert Hofstede developed the widely applied Hofstede s cultural dimensions, which mainly focuses on how different countries with different cultural backgrounds handle different anthropological problems that occur in cross cultural communication (Hofstede 1980). The first five Hofstede s dimensions will be discussed in following paragraphs. It should be clear that there is no good and bad between two elements in each dimension since every culture has its unique features and ways to function. Power distance is defined as the extent to which the less powerful members of organizations and institutions accept and expect that power is distributed unequally (Hofstede 1991, p.28). What Are The Stereotypes In The Bean Trees In the two novels, The Bean Trees and I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, authors Barbara Kingsolver and Maya Angelou use both of their stories to challenge the stereotypes that society has put in place about the idea of femininity and the gender roles of men and women. In The Bean Trees, protagonist Taylor Greer unexpectedly becomes a mother when she cares for a Native American child given to her on the side of a road, however, she does not behave like society s version of a maternal figure in that she takes on roles that would be likely belong to a man. On the other hand, in I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, Angelou writes an autobiography and she portrays her own older brother, Bailey, as a more feminine character, although he is expected to have manly qualities as an African American male. Nonetheless, Kingsolver and Angelou use the characters of Taylor and Bailey to exemplify how we can break the conventional stereotypes of our culture and live based off of our own personal standards, without feeling pressured to conform to the world. Society often depicts mothers as gentle, caring maternal figures that invest their time into taking care of their child while at home, though we see a different picture of a mother portrayed in The Bean Trees. After a few months of living with her newly received baby girl, Taylor moves in with a woman named Lou Ann, who is a single mother just like her. • 48. Adversity In Horace s Character In The Scarlet Letter Adversity is a difficulty or misfortune. Although adversity is challenging to the individual it affects, it is up to a person how they chose to deal with that difficulty. When faced with adversity, an individual has two choices; embrace his or her problems and live life to the fullest despite challenges, or carry his or her difficulties as a burden hindering the overall quality of life. Roman Poet, Horace, said, Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant. He is expressing the idea that not only can adversity be dealt with and embraced, but it even brings out talents in people that would not have shone through if they were not met with challenges. It is too mighty for me to struggle with! Heaven would show mercy, rejoined Hester, hadst thou but the strength to take advantage of it (Hawthorne 43). The reader can see here that Hester and Dimmesdale have a totally different mindset when it comes to their shared adversity. Hester teaches an important lesson with her example that adversity does not have to be regarded in a negative way, and what you chose to do with it can either hinder or improve you as an individual. Hester discovered inner strength, while Dimmesdale tucked away any good quality he had.
