Should English Be The Official Language
Everyone knows English is the hardest language to learn. Then why learn the language? Maybe
because they have not really thought of the bonuses to learning English. English should be the
official language of the United States because it encourages foreign countries to learn English, the
US economy saves money, and the English language will unite all around Americans around a
common language. Encourages foreign countries to learn our language. A study is shown in 2014
that bout 3/4s of schools found in Germany teach Englisch. Schools found in china about 63% of
those schools know English. Comparable studies found in other schools all over the world found
similar results. Other ways foreign countries can learn English is having it be required

Analysis Of Murder On The Orient Express
Murder on the Orient Express was written by Agatha Christie, and was first published on January
1, 1934. The story takes place on a train heading toward Stamboul, and then a train from Stamboul
to London, probably around the year 1930. The story begins with Hercule Poirot a famous
detective boarding a train. During the ride however, there was a murderin one of the compartments.
Hercule Poirotis the main character in the story. He is a worldwide famous detective, known
primarily for solving murder mysteries. M. Bouc is an old friend of Poirot s and is the director
of the train company, the Orient Express. Pierre Michel is the conductor who prepares all the
different compartments all around the clock. Dr. Constantine is the man who examines the
body, and also tries to help solve the case. Mary Debenham is an English governess, on her way
to meet the new family she will be with. Colonel Arbuthnot is an English colonel for the Army
of England. Mrs. Hubbard is an American matron who won t stop talking, especially about her
daughter. She seems to be a daydreamer and a drama queen. M. Ratchett is a man who does not
seem so bad at first but often wears a scowl on his face that frightens other people. Hector
MacQueen is M. Ratchett s secretary who acts more like a translator. Edward Henry Masterman is
M. Ratchett s personal valet who does not talk much at all. Antonio Foscarelli is a big Italian who
talks a lot, but seems innocent. Cyrus Hardman claims to be an American detective

NSANYS Board Of Directors Goals
As a member of the NSANYS Board of Directors there are many goals I would aspire to
accomplish. It is one of my hopes to provide NSNA members with greater access to opportunities to
serve the community, particularly as it relates to health and wellness. During my time as a member
of the Board of Directors I would seek to promote involvement in these activities. First, I would
create a discussion through the NSANYS social media platforms to establish which types of
volunteer programs NSNA members are most interested in. Additionally, through collaboration with
the community health director and other NSANYS board members, I would reach out to NSNA
school chapters to partner on upcoming community projects and share information on volunteer
opportunities.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I would reach out directly to members of the ANA board to seek opportunities for collaboration
and to learn about ANA events that nursing students would benefit from attending. Also, by
routinely reviewing content on the ANA website, including upcoming events, health initiatives,
and issues in healthcare affecting nurses, I could highlight the work of the ANA on social media
platforms, thereby encouraging NSNA members and nursing students to become engaged and
aware of issues vital to the field of nursing. I would strive to make this content relevant to nursing
students and provide information on how they can become more involved. Additionally, to
support my goal I would like to collaborate with the ANA to bring speakers to the NSANYS
annual convention to further encourage NSNA members to engage with New York s nursing
leaders and increase the ANA s presence at the convention. Also, by working with my fellow
NSANYS board members I believe I am confident I could develop additional strategies for
fostering the relationship between the NSANYS and ANA

Hally s Optimism In Master Harold And The Boys
Some people in the world may view a glass half empty, and some half full. This can be used to
tell a lot about somebody. Throughout the play Master Harold and The Boys Hally and Sam s
characters are introduced, and there are numerous times when Sam s positivity will outshine
Hally s negativity, or vice versa. Hally s pessimistic attitude shows a clear juxtaposition to Sam s
optimism. This is seen through Sam trying to make sure Hally has something good in his life to
remember, Hally being verbally negative about the comic books, later on physically and verbally
attacking Sam, and Sam attempting to stay calm and positive. There are not many of Hally s
childhood memories shown throughout the play, let alone happy ones. The happy ones that were
shown, though, were from Sam. Hally reminisces on the Afternoons in Sam s room as the good
times with Willy and Sam (32). Along with Sam... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hally begins to raise his voice at Sam and then begins making racially insensitive jokes, with
indirectly calling Sam a n***er (55). After Sam defensively responds to Hally, he spits in [Sam
s] face (56). The fact that Hally committed these vile acts after having had Sam as one of his best
friends his entire life, this just supports the idea that Hally is a naturally pessimistic person
about most aspects in his life. Even though Hally spits on and verbally abuses Sam, Sam stays
calm after the whole thing. After having Hally attack Sam, Sam manages to stay calm through it,
and in the end, he ends up asking Hally if he wants to try again to fly a new kite (59). This is
symbolic of Hally and Sam attempting to try again to mend their relationship and go back to how
they were. Sam offering up this opportunity to Hally after he had just been attacked shows how
much of a positive and optimistic person Sam is, to focus on the future and how they can move past

Electrophilic Aromatic Substitution Formal Lab Essay
Electrophilic Aromatic Substitution
Objective
The objective of this experiment was to illustrate electrophilic aromatic substitution by synthesizing
p nitroanilide (as well as ortho) from acetanilide by nitration. The para form was separated from the
ortho form based on solubility properties using recrystallization techniques.

Discussion Aromatic compounds can undergo electrophilic substitution reactions. In these reactions,
the aromatic ring acts as a nucleophile (an electron pair donor) and reacts with an electrophilic
reagent (an electron pair acceptor) resulting in the replacement of a hydrogen on the aromatic ring
with the electrophile. Due to the fact that the conjugated 6ПЂ electron system of the aromatic ring
is so stable, the carbocation intermediate loses a proton to sustain the aromatic ring rather than
reacting with a nucleophile. Ring substituents strongly influence the rate and position of
electrophilic attack. Electron donating groups on the benzene ring speed up the substitution process
by stabilizing the carbocation intermediate. Electron withdrawing groups, however, slow down the
aromatic substitution because formation of the carbocation intermediate is more difficult. The
electron withdrawing group withdraws electron density from a species that is already positively
charged making it very electron deficient. Therefore, electron donating groups are considered to be
activating and electron withdrawing groups are deactivating . Activating substituents direct
incoming groups to either the ortho or para positions. Deactivating substituents, with the exception
of the halogens, direct incoming groups to the meta position. The experiment described above was
an example of a specific electrophilic aromatic

How Tenyson Describes The Eagle
How Tenyson Describes the Eagle
In verse 1, line 1 he describes the eagle as being harsh, violent and rough by using alliteration in
the words clasps , crag , and crooked . He uses onomatopoeia also in these words to get over the
violentness of the bird and also its rough environment. When using the phrase crooked hands
Tenyson is describing how the shape of the claws are crooked but when he used the word hands
instead of claws this is implying the eagle has god like qualities.
The phrase close to the sun has connotations of the bird being god like (because some religions
worship the sun like a god). The sun also has connotations of energy and strength implying the bird
has these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In line 5 Tenyson says he watches from his mountain walls . Tenyson describes the walls as his
making it sound as if the eagle owns the mountains and its his territory. This furthers the idea of the
eagle being powerful.
In the last line of the poem Tenyson says And like a thunderbolt he falls
This is saying how the eagle can fall effortlessly like a thunderbolt, which shows how much power
the eagle holds.
What did Cowper think of Tiney?
Cowper is obviously very fond of his pet hare, Tiney. He is very protective over it; this is shown in
verse 1 of the poem
Here lies, whom hound did n er pursue,
Nor swifter greyhound follow,
Whose got ne er tainted morning dew,
Nor ear heard huntsman s hallo ==================================
Cowper is saying that his hare has never been let into danger, and his feet have never even touched
the morning dew . This shows that Cowper cares for Tiney and will not let him come to any harm.
In the second verse Cowper describes how he raised the hare like one of his children, but even
though Cowper was trying to raise the hare like he was the hare still had a wild streak in him.
Old Tiney, surliest of his kind,
Who, nursed with tender care,
And domestic bounds confined,

Descriptive Essay On Basketball Team
Basketball Team One day my mom told me that I was on the Upward Basketball Team, a church
league for basketball. I was furious because I did not like basketball at all, but my mom loved
basketball, which is why she wanted me to play on the team.
I am not playing on the basketball team! I exclaimed.
Give it a chance. my mom pleaded.
No, I don t want to! Please don t make me do this, I begged as I banged my hand on the counter of
our island.
Please, give it a chance and then if you still don t like it, you don t have to do it. Ok?
Fine, I shouted and I started stomping up to my room.
Wait, your first game is on Saturday, she added.
Is there practice before the game?
Yes, but you are going to miss it because of gymnastics practice.
UGH, I groaned. So the rest of the night, I was stressing out over the first game because I had
never played basketball before. I didn t get to practice with my team. I don t even know my coach
or teammates. Why did my mom have to sign me up for basketball without even asking me?
My stomach was in knots. My heart was pounding. It was 30 minutes before my first basketball
game ever. My mom and I had arrived at the arena. It looked like it was just built with shiny red
paint everywhere except on the doors. The double doors were a dull brown color. As I walked in,
I was so overwhelmed. The building was not only enormous but also packed with tons of people.
Over all of the people, I thought that I recognized one of them. There

Thomas Freidman s The World Is Flat
The world is flat by Thomas Freidman is a very debatable book that is focused around how the
world is becoming flat. Thomas uses the metaphor the world is flat to explain how the global
competitive field is being leveled. He first realizes this on his trip to Bangalore, India. On his trip
he is followed by a discovery channel crew and he interviews Indian businessmen and women
working for American companies. He discover that they can communicate with there partners
around the world by video conferencing this is where he began his own theory of how the world
became flat. After his journey to India we travel to other flattening countries like China, Japan, and

efficiently explains how each of these events flattened the world and splits them into three groups
Globalization 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0. Next Freidman travels to being and interviews U.S. embassy
officials in Beijing as he wants to discover more of why the world has flattened as he knows there
are other factors to consider. Through his interviews he saw how much the young generation of
Chinese wanted education and work in America. In the next chapter The Great Sorting Out
Freidman talks with political theorist Michael Sandel and they discuss outsourcing. Specifically
outsourcing in India they ponder whether the Indians are being used for cheap labor or are being
given a great opportunity. To better understand Freidman uses and anecdote about a company in

Research Paper On Constructivism
Constructivism: A Review
Abstract
Constructivism is an all encompassing theory of learning that emerged as a prevailing paradigm in
the last part of the twentieth century. Constructivism is a theory which brings cogitation to
pedagogy (Bruner, 1966). Constructivism capitalizes on the ways in which human beings create
their own personal construct of reality by understanding and experiencing the world. The
cornerstone of constructivism is that constructing personal meaning is ingrained in individuals
right from the birth (Vygotsky, 1978).
The Overview
Constructivist approach explains the ways in which learners make their own personal senses of
learning tasks, the environment, the teacher, and the actual process of learning (Vygotsky, 1962).

In education teacher acts more akin to a mediator consulting and helping learner grow. Social
constructivism adopts its stance as internationalist perspective operating within social context.
Learners are actively involved in the process of learning shaping their experiences about the world
by other significant people (Vygotsky, 1962).
3
Constructivism is part of educational psychology which places the learner at the central focus.
Learner learns by interacting in a social context of teacher and text. Each individual learner is sui
generis, no two learners are the same. The ways they view the world are not the same. Learners
bring these differences to the learning situation. Teachers must be cognizant of these differences.
Furthermore no two teachers and teaching situations are ever the same. Like students, teachers
should become self aware of their beliefs and attitude to the teaching and learning and make their
own contributions to the learner as the situations arise (Williams and Burden, 1997). While learners
are interacting with the task beforehand, teachers are required to take the learners response to the
tasks to see if they are appropriate to their levels of developments congruent

Question: A newly emerged virus has infected a previously naГЇve (uninfected) individual. Please
describe all the possible adaptive immune response to this uncharacterized virus
Introduction:
The adaptive immune response is the response of antigen specific lymphocytes to antigen, it
functions through a series of steps aimed at limiting or destroying a particular antigen. T and B
cells primarily mediate the responses of the adaptive immune system as they obtain the
characteristics of specificity and memory. There are two classes of adaptive immune response;
humoral immune response and cell mediated or antibody immune response. In order for the

Their two primary jobs are to ensure antibody production against the appropriate target antigen
occurs and there is presentation of antigen to T cells and signals for T cell activation are
provided. B cells provide protection of the host by producing antibodies that identify and
neutralize foreign objects like viruses. These B cells then differentiate into plasma cells and
memory cells. Plasma cells are terminally differentiated B cells that remain committed to the
continuous production and secretion of antibodies. Each plasma will synthesise and secret only
one type of antibody. Memory B cells are long lived B cells that have specialised to
remembering the type of substances that the immune system has seen before, they are primed
for rapid response to repeated exposure of the antigen. Memory B cells are generated in the
lymphoid tissue and migrate to the lymph nodes and reside in the ready mode for activation in
order to quickly recognise and attack any returning virus. T cells attack cells that have become
infected by viruses, there are two types of T cells the T helper cell ad the cytotoxic T cell. T
helper cells do not attack infected cells directly, instead they release chemical messengers known
as cytokines that signal differentiation, growth and action of other immune cells. Cytotoxic T cells
go around in the body looking for and wanting to destroy pathogenic cells directly. Cytotoxic T
cells attach to the compromised cell and release chemical factors that are able to kill their targets by
programming then to undergo apoptosis. * Dendritic

Luke Skywalker Research Paper
The Leadership of Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...
there were two exceptional leaders by the name of Darth Vader, and Luke Skywalker. As many
know, these two men are the leading antagonist and protagonist of the immensely popular franchise,
Star Wars. For those that do not know, Darth Vader
is the villain who leads a heinous army known
as The Empire. Through methods of fear and intimidation, Vader fabricates a mega weapon capable
of destroying entire planets known as the Death Star. Luke Skywalkerdefies all odds as he uses the

Transformational leaders provide vision and a sense of mission (Bass, 1990, p.22). Luke
Skywalker was excellent at this. He had a unique ability to rally people from hundreds of
different worlds for the single cause of ending Imperial Oppression. One of his primary mission
statements is to believe in your cause. According to Bass (1990), this method inspires people to
have a passion for what they do, which usually leads to the job being done better and more
thoroughly. This type of leadership also adds a sense of independence to the follower. They will
begin to think and act on their own, progressively turning into a leader of their own followers.
Darth Vader on the other hand, uses the transactional approach by inspiring by means of rewards
and punishment. If a Stormtrooper, which is one of the empire s soldiers, doesn t complete his
orders, then Vader very well might put him to death. If he does perform his duty, then he will get
the reward of continuing his life. This is obviously an extreme example of transactional leadership,
but the idea of it stays true to goal based

room. A pathologist did not examine the body until more than 18 hours after the crime took
place (Bardsley, M., amp; Bellamy, P. n.d.). The type of evidence that was found in the JonBenet
Ramsey case was both latent and visible. DNA traces were found on the child s body and
clothing, and footprints were analyzed in the basement. In addition, a ransom note was found
on the stairs by the mother Patricia Ramsey. Fibers from blankets, carpet, clothing, bedding, car
interiors and other materials can be identified and traced by the forensic team. The different
between the latent and visible evidence are as follows According to Saferstein, R. (2011),
Latent evidence is evidence at a crime scene that cannot be seen with the eyes. Examples might
be a blood stain that was bleached out, or semen stains that can t be seen without special
lighting, or a fingerprint on an on even surface, such as a tree (pp. 400). Saferstein, R. (2011),
also argues that visible evidence are made when an object touches a surface after the ridges have
been in contact with a colored material such as blood, paint grease, or ink, (pp. 400, para. 1). I do
not believe that there was a secure chain of custody due to the fact the crime scene had already

Difference Between Prehistory And Pre History
First Long Exam
1.History vs Prehistory
a.What is prehistory and how is this concept or term defined?
Prehistory is a discipline where it composed of series of events happened during the time where
writing was not yet used to record those events. The word itself means before history for it is
associated with the prefix pre which means before yet it was really the combination of the Latin
word prae that means before and the Greek word О№ПѓП„ОїПЃОЇО± which means history. These
are the events that happened in times where in writing was not yet used to record these events.
Events are just based on either being told, predicted or believed by the people from long time ago
and evidences of this events came from excavation of fossils and discovery of materials in places
believed to be the place inhibited by the prehistoric people. It is a discipline where in trained and

Themes Of The Outsiders
Sammy Davis Jr. once said You always have two choices: your commitment versus your fears .
This means you can chose to be scared and back off, or commit to face your fears without
worrying about what the consequences or the result will be when you make this choice. This
relates to the choices made in The Outsiders, because Johnny faces his fears face on, not backing
off and instead, committing. He does this to save the ones who he most cares about the most.
Correspondingly, the theme of The Outsiders is that committing and making choices that you
may not like, may have a beneficial, long term effect on the people around you. To begin with,
Johnny stabs Bob, the Soc, with his switchblade because Bob was about to brutally beat Johnny
up with his rings on his bare hands and his hurtful words from his crude, deceptive mouth.
Johnny also stabs Bob because Bob s gang was trying to drown Ponyboy, so if he was able to
stab Bob then his nasty and cruel gang would leave Ponyboy alone. When Johnny stabs Bob, his
plan ends up working and the other socs runaway because they got frightened at the sight of
Johnny stabbing and killing their what used to be alive friend. I killed him, he said slowly. I
killed that boy. (56) Johnny says this to Ponyboy as he awakens; coughing up water from nearly
being drowned by Bob s gang. When the socs runaway they go and try to find police. Because of

Psychoanalytic Therapy Freud s views continue to influence contemporary practice. Many of his
basic concepts are still part of the foundation on which other theorists build and develop. Some

psychodynamic factors that motivate behavior, by focusing on the role of the unconscious, and by

The Objects Short Story
In Yuri Herrera s short story The Objects transformation is a key element to the significance of
the story. Each night the narrator in the story enters a vestibule, or portal, and transforms into a
rat along with a friend named Rafa, who transforms into a louse. These two main characters are
part of the lower level of the building, and they are treated as such, just like in our world;
therefore, making discrimination a major issue across the world. The fact that people are different
and unique is hard for others to accept. Mostly because they are constantly in competition with one
another; however, if everyone were the same, life would be unfulfilling. Therefore, people changed
and became the person they wanted to be, but are being judged and discriminated for doing so. In
Yuri Herrera s short storyThe Objects he wrote about humans that are transformed into animals
based on their status and the struggle the lower class people have to go through to make it to the
top of the food chain. Some people only see certain races or social classes as people who can do
the dirty work or people they can put themselves above. By doing this, individuals begin to lose
their humanity. Herrera transforms characters physically, mentally, and psychologically to show
how lower class people and different races are being discriminated against when it comes to social
and work status.

Lee et.al (2009) identified the concept of the PHR as those that includes an electronic application
enabling individuals to access and manage their own lifelong health information, and to share all or
parts of such information with other individuals or care providers or authorized persons in a secure
and confidential environment . Looking at more literature, The Markle Foundation s Common
Framework states that the key characteristics of a PHR are that the patient controls his or her own
PHR, that the information is from the patient s entire lifetime, the PHR contains information from
all providers, is accessible from anywhere at any time, and is both private and secure (Kannry,
et.al.2012. p. 594).
There are active debates about the power of PHRs in the literature but there are general consensus
on the fact that they facilitate active interactions; for example, when patients collect and monitor
daily health data e.g blood pressure, educate themselves on health information thereby increase
knowledge, and challenge, inquire and probe health information especially, their own personal data.
The potential of patients actively engaging in their health and general wellness is dramatically
enhanced by PHRs It is also very helpful to the community wellness, In terms of population health,
fully operationalized PHRs give epidemiologists, researchers, and policy makers vehicles

In this step a series of interviews and meeting, conducted by a trusted member of the leadership
team, will occur to obtain meaningful information and provide any necessary guidance the new

individuals are enlisted into the process and they include the new leaders, boss, or members of the
Board of Director, peers, and direct reports. Interviews with the boss, or bosses, will identify
landmines he must avoid, and what not to do , if the new leader wishes to be successful
(Burroughs, 2011). In a peer interview information is gathered from all peers the new leader will
come into contact with. The need for a leader to influence others outside his immediate authority
is paramount and if the new leader is aware of what he should avoid, or what areas the previous
leader struggled with, probability of success will increase. The last section of interviews should

Nietzsche, A Critic Of Religion
Nietzsche is widely known as a critic of religion. In fact, he talks in depth about morality in
regards to religion in his essays about the genealogy of morals. But the problem is not within
religion itself or within morals. The problem is involved in the combination of the two to create
society s understanding of moralitythrough a very religious lens. In fact, Nietzsche has criticism
for almost any set of morals constructed by a group of individuals and meant to be applied to
society as a whole. True morality, according to Nietzsche, requires a separation from these group
dynamic views of morality or at least a sincere look into where they originated and why they
persist and a movement towards a more introverted, and intrinsically personalized understanding of
what morals mean in spite of the fact that the normative force to which every member of society is
exposed, in the form of obligations, codes of behavior, and other moral rules and guidelines, is
disproportionally high (Korfmacher 6). As Nietzsche points out, within society there is a tendency
to conflate religious standards with morality. In fact, it is difficult to discuss morality at all without
running into issues that appear to be religious by their nature, but which, upon reflection, do not
need to be put under that blanket. According to Nietzsche, we tend to mix religionand morality
together because that is how we developed morality from the beginning of humanity. In fact,
Nietzsche believes that all

Kingdom Of Heaven Essay
KINGDOM OF HEAVEN
Lucas Castelo Branco
HIST 2023

The Kingdom of Heaven is an epic film directed and produced by Ridley Scott, and written by
William Monahan, filmed in Morocco. The story of the Kingdom of Heaven is set during the
Crusades of the 12th century, and is basically about the life of Balian, a French blacksmith, who
defends the Kingdom of Jerusalem against the Muslims and reclaims the city from the Christians.
In this story, I could travel back in time to experience life during the era of the Crusades.
To better understand the Kingdom of Heaven, it is important to know what the Crusades were. The
Crusades were a series of religious wars between Christians and Muslims which started primarily to

Nevertheless, these expeditions influenced great transformations in the medieval world. They
have weakened feudal aristocracy, strengthened royal power, and made possible the expansion
of the market. Eastern civilization contributed much to European cultural enrichment,
promoting intellectual development. Never again was Jerusalem dominated by Christians, but
the movements on the way to the Holy Land expanded relationships with the known world at the
time. The first hour of Kingdom of Heaven is decisive for the rest of the film. It is in these
moments that we will meet Balian, a blacksmith who is devastated after he lost his wife who had
committed suicide. It is important to say that suicide was considered to be an irredeemable sin,
for example, the church believed suicide was a road to hell. Balian has no prospects in life
when he receives a visit from Baron Godfrey of Ibelin. He introduces himself as Balian s father
and invites him to become a knight and defend Jerusalem, ruled by King Baldwin IV, who is a
leper hidden behind a mask of iron. Godfrey knows the difficult moment that Balian is going
through, so he introduces him to Jerusalem (presented in the film as the new world where love
exists instead of hate, a multi ethnic city, sacred to three religions, strategic gateway to the East
and to the West) as a journey of redemption in which his son will redeem himself of his sins and
he will save the soul of the suicidal wife. After speaking this, Balian cannot

The Pros And Cons Of Aggregation Company
After developing a game, the next step for the creators is obviously to introduce the game into the
market. However, game creators cannot deal directly with online retailers, rather they have to
partner up with an aggregation company that will do the middle between creators and retailers.
The game we re working on is a virtual reality gamewhere the player must fight waves off enemies
while using multiple character classes. The game is completed when the player beats the final
boss. Then, score and time are saved, so other players can try to beat it up latter. There are many

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Distribution-Free Control...
We present an overview of literature on nonparametric or distribution free control charts for uni
variate variable data. We highlight various advantages of these charts while pointing out some of
the disadvantages of the more traditional, distribution based control charts. Specific observations
are made in the course of review of articles and constructive criticism is offered so that
opportunities for further research can be identified. Connections to some areas of active research
are made, such as sequential analysis, which are relevant to process control. We hope that this
article leads to a wider acceptance of distribution free control charts among practitioners and serves
as an impetus to future research and development in this area.... Show more content on

Clearly, the quicker the detection and the signal, the more efficient the chart is. The number of
samples or subgroups that need to be collected before the first out of control signal is given by a
chart is a random variable called the ran length. The efficiency of a CC depends on the probability
distribution of the run length. The most common efficiency criterion is to consider the average
run length (ARL), which is the expected value of the run length distribution. It is desirable
(often stipulated) that the ARL of a chart be large when the process is in control and small when
the process is out of control. The false alarm rate is the probability that a chart signals a process
change when in fact there is no change, that is, when the process is in control. This is similar to
the probability of a Type I error in the context of hypothesis testing. In practice, the stability of a
process is usually determined relative to one or more of its output characteristics such as the mean
and/or the variance. Two control charts are often compared on the basis of out of control ARL,
such that their respective in control ARL s are roughly the same. This parallels comparing two
statistical tests on the basis of power against some alternative hypothesis when they are roughly of
the same

Classical feudalism, which developed in and after
the 10th century. It was only toward the year 1000 that the term fief began to be used instead of

was a contractual system of political and military relationships. It was characterized by giving

of the fief was the

renewal of the

Azone Research Paper
2.1.7.3.3.Azone and derivatives: Azone (laurocapram, Figure 5) is a highly lipophilic liquid with
an octanol/water partition coefficient of 6.21. It is a chemically stable compound and an
excellent solvent for many drugs. Azone has a low irritating potential, a very low toxicity and
nearly no pharmacological activity (56, 58). It can be used as penetration enhancers for
hydrophilic and lipophilic substances such as steroids, antibiotics and antiviral agents and for
peptide molecules as well, such as insulin and vasopressin (58). The efficacy of Azone is
concentration dependent and is influenced by the choice of vehicle from which it is applied. Azone
is most effective at low concentrations, being employed typically between 0.1% and 5%, often
between 1% and 3% (56). Addition... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To overcome this issue, many Azone like compounds have been synthesized (55). Modification in
the structure of Azone includes change in: a)The optimal hydrocarbon chain length The
enhancement activities increased as the length of the hydrophobic chains increased, but when the
length of the chain was longer than a certain limit, the activities rather decreased. The optimal
hydrocarbon chain length was between 8 and 14 carbons, which would vary according to their
different polar heads. The action of an enhancer was dependent on the balance between its
hydrophilic and lipophilic nature, and therefore different length of alkyl chain was required for
best incorporation of the enhancer with different polar heads into the skin lipid bilayers (60).
b)Heterocyclic ring size The presence of five member cycle increased the activity, while six and
seven member cycle exhibited lower activity. Azone analogs with a small polar head might be
expected to be situated well into the polar lipid domain, thus disrupting the ordered organization of
the lipid layers (61). c)The heteroatoms in the polar

The Late Pastor Of My Church
The late pastor of my Church used to always tell the following story.
So I heard about an old travelling pastor, perhaps you heard about him too. Back in the 17 and
1800 s because there were more churches than there were pastors to fill these church pulpit
vacancies there were pastors who would get on their horse and ride from one town to the next town
filling in for worship services when these individual churches didn t have pastors. Well this
particular pastor was in the middle of this trip between two small towns when he had to stop and
get his horse a drink and food. As he was waiting in the shade of a tree an old farmer came up to
him and said, hey, you a pastor? the pastor of course nodding his head in approval and the pastor
said, nice day, isn t it? The old farmer said sure it s nice for you. You aren t doing any real work.
All you have to do is ride around on that horse thinking about God all day long, while I have to
sweat here in this field and then walk home afterward. I don t think it s right you should have
things so easy while I have to work so hard. The pastor was a bit confused, but not at all offended
by the statement he responded: You know, you re right about that. I mean you have to work in
these fields and that s hard work, and I admire that about you. But please understand, the work that I
do is still work. ... Oh yea, sure, but it s not really work. I mean all you really do is ride around

being more Folk Rock if that s a genre? It has a slow introduction slowly adding instruments until
halfway it becomes more of a rock song. As the song title suggests the song is about freedom but
it is more about gaining that the freedom by sacrificing the past giving the song more of a sullen
feel. On the cd case I was given it has suggested tracks and the fourth song Shatter is
recommended and it is the highest rated song of the album on iTunes so it must be good. This
song is from what I can tell fallows the same pattern of barricades meaning it switches from rock to

near the end it has a weird guitar rift which turned me off of this song. Skipping ahead in the album

Sleep is a beautiful thing, but people do not get enough of it. It is a time for the body to
rejuvenate and process the events of the day. Sleeping is something that we seek out. Getting the

could be detrimental consequences. The National Institute for Neurological Disorders and Stroke
says that without sleep, neurons could be polluted with byproducts . In severe cases, people who

averaged five hours of sleep. Because I was unable to go through the four stages of sleep and

My lack of sleep did not allow me to remember very many of my dreams during the school week.
From Friday night to Sunday night, I was able to sleep much more because I did not have a
crushing amount of homework. Although I did sleep the recommended eight hours those days,
I only remember a little snippet of a dream. From Friday night to Saturday morning, I remember

Marginalation Of Women In Tennessee WilliamsA Streetcar...
Women are marginalised in A Streetcar Named Desire through their economic status, their mental
health and their place as a woman in the society of 1940s. They are held as possessions for
admiration and housework. Neither of the men in the play treat them as they should be treated, and
see them as nothing more than a housemaker and a child bearer. Also, it is made prominently clear
by Williams that no womanwould be able to survive without a man at that time. However, at some
occasions, Williams portrays that women can prove to be challenging if undermined.
Blanche Dubois is an epitome of this portrayal of women in the 1940s. She s portrayed as a

They were meant to be flirtatious whist also being chaste. Blanche Dubois tries to maintain this
image. However, without any people witnessing her, she s antithesis to this role. Her solution to
her problems is via escaping to alcohol consumption, promiscuity and madness. This escape
portrays that women in the new emerging world can no longer keep up with the role of a
Southern Belle. It is the character of Stanley that forces her to fall out of this character and show
other people who she really is. Here, Blanche is shown suppressed by him, which leads to her
becoming powerless. She cannot overcome the power and dominance of Stanley. They have an
ongoing feud with each other during the play. And as we know, it is Stanley who prevails
through his rape of Blanche. This victory isn t just of Stanley over Blanche, it is a victory of
masculinity over femininity, oppression over suppression, New America over Old South. By
Stanley winning the feud, Williams displays that it s the man who holds all the cards. The rape
implies the ultimate powerlessness of Blanche and women in the play. By Stanley raping Blanche,
it is not just defeat for Blanche, however, it is a defeat for all women in the play. Through this
gesture, Williams has shown that in the 1940s, a woman cannot take home the prize in a man
dominated world.
In addition to this, Williams decides to include the role of a Southern Belle. However, why does he

Monster Study Stuttering Theory
The Monster Study
Wendell Johnson devised the Monster study in 1939 at the Soldiers and Sailors Orphans Home in
Dayton, Iowa to find the true cause of stuttering, which he and many others suffered from
(Reynolds, 2003). The popular theory at the time was that stuttering was a physiological defect,
meaning the brain s signals misfired; however, Johnson believed that stuttering was a learned
behavior and could be unlearned (Reynolds, 2003, n.pag). To see if his hypothesis was correct,
Johnson devised an experiment now known as the Monster Study. Before he could begin he
requested the help of one of his students at the time, Mary Tudor, to carry out the experiment for
him. Before the experiment Tudor and 5 other graduate students ranked twenty six children s
speech on a scale of one to five, one being poor and five being fluent (Reynolds, 2003, n.pag).
Based on this the children were separated into four groups: IA consisted of five children who
stuttered, but were told nice things; IB consisted of five children who stuttered and were told
negative things; IIA consisted of six children who did not stutter but, were told they did, and,
IIB consisted of six children who did not stutter and were told nice things. Tudor used rehearsed
responses such as, you will be able to speak even better than you are speaking now on students in
IA and responses such as Don t ever speak unless you can do it right on children in IIA (Reynolds,

Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs)
The Basics
Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), also called sexually transmitted infections (STIs), are
diseases and infections that are passed from person to person through sexual contact. HIV is an
STD. There are more than 25 other STDs that are mainly spread by sexual contact such as
vaginal, anal, and oral sex. The US has the highest rate of STDs in the developed world. In the
US, about 19 million new infections occur each year. Teenage girls and young women need to be
particularly aware of STDs. A recent study estimates that 1 in 4 teenage girls (aged 14 19) have an
STD. African Americans girls and young women have some of the highest rates of STDs,

Other types cause infections in the genital area that can lead to genital warts, cervical cancer, or
cancer of the vulva, vagina, anus, and penis. Genital HPV is spread easily through skin to skin
contact during vaginal or anal sex. Condoms do not totally prevent transmission. HIV+ people are
more likely to be infected with HPV than HIV negative people. HIV+ people with HPV are also
more likely to develop genital warts, as well as cervical or anal cancer. It is important to detect
HPV early and get treatment to prevent health problems. Regular Pap tests are a good way to
detect HPV. There are also two HPV vaccines. Young people should get vaccinated before their
first sexual contact (before they have been exposed to HPV). People who are already infected with
HPV are not protected by the vaccines. For more information, see TWP info sheet on HPV.
Gonorrhea
This bacterial STD can be spread through vaginal, anal, or oral sex. Symptoms may include a
yellowish or greenish vaginal discharge and a burning feeling when urinating. Gonorrhea can also

In my own opinion the transfer price that Kamp should insist on for the Type 2A engine now is
€3450 per unit. This is using the principle of the minimum transfer price which is the variable
cost plus the profit if it sells its engines externally then adds the cost of €200 of developing the
Type 2A engine. However in the future the price may increase because fixed cost will be added as
capacity may become a problem with the expected rise of demand for cars and engines, and also if
Kamp is allowed to sell externally the type 2, 3, and 4 engines, so the price in the future should be
€4750.
The proposed transfer price now is also lower than the expected prices from Black and FER so it
should not be a problem with Guy Mercier who is pressuring Kamp to sell the engine at a
reasonable price so that he can raise profit and bonus for his division.
Problem No. 2
Please discuss the possibilities of increasing Kamp s profit by using the formula for basic cost per
unit and by reorganizing. Please use a concrete example to indicate how the board of Kamp can
manipulate the unit costs for the types 2, 3, and 4 by reorganizing its cost information system. How,
do you think, can the boards of the Vecu concern and the MB division determine whether Kamp
manipulates data on unit costs?

How Did Geography Affect Where Colonists Settled Essay
Beginning in 1607, when ambitious English colonists settled in Jamestown, and continuing until
the last of the thirteen colonies was established; geography was a substantial factor in the
development of colonial America. The crops that essentially saved the colonists lives, such as
tobacco, rice, and indigo, wouldn t have grown without a certain type and amount of soil to grow
properly. Also, the Appalachian Mountains and the dense forests provided a barrier for the
colonists, preventing them from going too far west right away, and causing the colonies to form in
the arrangement they did. Finally, the population was the most dense in middle colonies, such as

This, in turn, made it so that the population were more dense, and there was a higher
concentration of people. The dense forests of the eastern seaboard disallowed for large cities to
be created right away. This geological factor forced colonists to spread out within the perimeters
of the Appalachian Mountains and the Atlantic Ocean, without being too close together. Both of
these factors could be overlooked easily enough, but did have a reasonable impact of the
development of colonial America. Finally, the geography of the middle colonies, such as New
York, New Jersey, Delaware, and Pennsylvania played a big role on the development and
population of this area. In the sixteen and seventeen hundreds, the above colonies were the most
populated of the thirteen establishments. There was plentiful and fertile soil, in which tobacco
was heavily grown. The Susquehanna River also flowed through this region, opening the
possibility of fur trade. Other minor rivers that were found in the middle colonies were gentle,
which provided for easy transportation and fishing. The land in the middle colonies was broad
and expansive, making it easy for even the middle class residents to create an enjoyable and
profitable lifestyle. In conclusion, there were many factors that contributed to the development of
the colonial America, but geography was clearly a sizable influence. If the geography of America

Mercutio as Catalyst in Shakespeare’s play, Romeo and Juliet
Mercutio as Catalyst in Shakespeare s play, Romeo and Juliet
In Shakespeare s play, Romeo and Juliet, the quick witted character Mercutio is a notorious scene
stealer (Utterback 105). Mercutio s major function in the play is to be a catalyst for the plot.
Mercutio s purpose as a character is most significantly revealed in his relationship with Romeo, his
baiting of Tybalt, and his death. More importantly, Mercutio functions as the catalyst for the pattern
of disasters in the play that follows his own tragic death, making him, as described by critic Stephen
Greenblatt a spirit that seems to challenge the very possibility of romantic love or tragic destiny
(856).
Mercutio s role in the play is directly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mercutio urges Romeo to end his romantic relationships. Mercutio tells Romeo If thou are dun
we ll draw thee from the mire / Of save your reverence love, wherein though stickest / Up to the
ears (I.iv.41 43). Mercutio scorns the romantic love and relationships that weaken their
friendship. Mercutio s bawdry and scorn are seen as especially ill mannered because he
expresses it in an age celebrating domesticity and middle class marriage (Porter 34). The
connection of Mercutio s name to the misogynistic god Mercury supports his view of love and
relationships (Porter 38). Mercutio s Mercurian message is that Romeo should stay with, or come
back to, the world of male comradeship (Porter 107).
Furthermore, Mercury was a troublesome, quick to anger, and swift messenger. Likewise,
Mercutio is hot headed and quick to act. Mercutio s need for action and his ridiculing nature are
also seen in his aggressive baiting of Tybalt. At first, Mercutio seems almost excited to see
Romeo fight Tybalt in Act Three, Scene One. And but one word with one of us? Couple it with
/ something; make it a word and a blow (III.i.35 36). However, Romeo does not give in to Tybalt
s insults and does not accept Tybalt s challenge to fight. The passive Romeo instead wants love and
peace with Tybalt because of his love for Juliet.
I do protest I never injured thee,
But love thee better than thou canst

Questions On Organizational Culture And Leadership
Schein, E (1992). Organizational Culture and Leadership. 2nd ed., San Francisco, CA: Jossey
Bass Edgar Schein outlines those characteristics in better understanding and assessing the culture
and climate of an organization. A lot energy and emphasis is focused on the identification and
application of an organization s guiding principles. Schein suggests that our guiding values and
principles are important, but it is in the organizations structure, culture, action that describes the
true character of an organization. He spends time focusing on artifacts, indicators of an
organizations true culture, values and beliefs. When someone better understands an organization,
they know that observation is a key to find out their true make up. This will also lead to finding
about some of the reinforcing and extinguishing characteristics of the organization. His book is
very applicable when attempting to better understand the true make up of an organization like
the Mississippi Army National Guard. He uses key values that describe the organization and its
makeup. His article is considered valid and reliable. Arthur, J. (2010) Of Good Character
Exploration of Virtues and Values in 3 25 Year Olds. Charlottesville, VA: Imprint Academic,

leaders in two specific ways. The first way is to provide research results in the area of moral and
character value traits. The second way attempts to

Hyperbole In Downsiders
Some humans can t accept difference. Most humans are locked up in a world where everyone has
to be just like them. The novel Downsiders by Neal Shusterman is an example of this. The novel
has the theme that when people separate into groups and cultures, they have a hard time
understanding the opposite and tend to judge. But those who accept, benefit greatly. The Author
used an extravagant amount of literary devices that have to do with the theme of accepting
difference. The hyperbole A frenzied group of crazed topsiders, (page 47) is an example. It s a
great example of the theme because it shows the opinion and viewpoint the downsiders have of the
topsiders. Through reading the quote you can get a sense that the downsiders want nothing to do
with the topsiders and that they think the topsiders run around pointless and don t get anywhere.
The quote also has some connotation in it, with the way it says frenzied. It makes you... Show more

A big part of the hero s journey that is present in the book is when the hero is encouraged by the
elderly. With the Champ being the old wise person in the book, he says, sometimes people have
the stuff just lying around, you know? Nevermind, I shouldn t have suggested it, and this is
some of the advice he gives Talon. He was able to give Talon advice and connect to the theme.
The Champ was actually trying to fix the problem the theme states and bring together the two
worlds by sending Talon up to the topside for medicine. This advice benefits him greatly and
gives him a glance of the other world, which by the end of the book, he comes to accept and
enjoy. Another variation of this is when the champ gives knowledge to Lindsay. For example,
when he says, Have you ever heard of a man named Alfred Beach? This is what eventually leads
Lindsay to find out the history of the Downside and how they came to well being in the place.
This was a very important event to the plot and for Lindsay s

Causes Of The Strike Of 1877
The Great Railroad Strike of 1877 manifested into the first of a series of labor strikes in the
United States and the first general strike of the nation. Working on the railroads, labor workers
already had poor working conditions and low wages. However, the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad
(B O) had made its second wage cut in the past eight months; both cuts by ten percent. In
response to this, labor workers refused to allow any freight trains to roll in and out of the station
until the restoration of their original wages. The railroad strikers included individuals from
railroad workers to other labor sympathizers alike. The Great Strike of 1877 succeeded for the
labor economy because of the large number of labor supporters, the overpowering of the militia,
and the power of initiative from the people. Several citizens supported the laborers because of
the dangers their jobs came with and their impact on the overall economy of the United States.
The strikers refused to restart the trains, so the B O company employed new men to restart the
trains, however, the strikers immediately interfered. When the police went to protect the new
men, the strikers were, reinforced by a large body of citizens, swelling the crowd till it reached
the proportions of a large mob ( Serious Strike ). The citizens were more willing to aid the strikers
than the local police and militia. The locals agreed with the strikers because they were willing to go
against their own militia. According

My Dad s Sneeze
Throughout my essay I used metaphors and comparisons to expand on certain ideas. When
attempting to give the reader a better understanding of my dad s sneeze I described the
beginning as a wind up to the main event and continued to call it a firework exploding. The
purpose of these comparisons was to allow the reader a better understanding of the power behind
something as simple as a sneeze. Also, by using these comparisons I was able to vary my word
choice, thus making my essaymore appealing to the reader.
Imagery was used in my essay to evoke thought and emotion from the reader. To better describe my
dad s sneeze I stated that it seconds a herd of elephants tumbling through the African desert . Most

Essay On British Imperialism
Consolidating the British Empire:
The British Empire was an empire on which the sun never set. Lasting for over three hundred years,
Britain became the global hegemonic power of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. From the
wilds of Australia, to the fertile lands of Africa, the British Empireruled over a quarter of the world
s population. With the empire ever expanding, visual and material culture became relied upon to
help consolidate the empire. Overall, whether an advertisement for soap, or the funeral for Dr.
Livingstone, visual and material culture was at the forefront of British imperialism.
Although Britain abolished slavery in 1833, the shackles of racism remained. In the late nineteenth

With soap seen as a magical medium capable of enforcing or enlarging British power in the
colonial world... (McClintock, 225), by buying the soap, Brits could actively partake in imperialism
without having to go across the globe.
As aforementioned, with the abolishment of slavery, scientific racism emerged. As seen in the
political cartoon, Am I not a Man or a Brother? , negative stereotypes emerged comparing
Africans to simians. Created as a satire of the monogenetic vs. polygenetic debate, the cartoon
makes fun of the abolition slogan Am I not a Man or a Brother? . Asserting Africans inferiority on
a sub human level, the cartoon brings into question the entire abolition movement. Why grant
freedom to a race of people that are no more biologically separate from an ape? Africans were seen
by many as a different species... (Pettit, 45).
The negative stereotype of Africans to apes is seen throughout the visual culture of Great
Britain. However, the image of simians, was used to depict other negative stereotypes such as
working women as seen in the Monkey Brand Soap Ad. In the Monkey Brand Soap Ad, we see a
monkey extending a frying pan to catch the few dollars spared by passerbys. Monkey Brand Soap
promised... to magically erase the unseemly spectacle of women s manual labor (McClintock ,
215). During the Victorian Era, women were not to inhabit the private sphere, doing domestic work
in the home. For women who worked publicly

The Role Of Choices In Ayn Rand s Anthem
Having choices can sometime leave a negative result that could affect others. Because of some
individuals who could have caused problems for society,or because of strict individuals working
for the government, choices are sometimes limited to the privileged. But it can cause problems
for individuals who need the ability to make their own choices for their own sake. In the novella
Anthem by Ayn Rand,a dystopia takes place in a futuristic era. It is long after a worldwide
apocalypse. They are taught that having their life is a privilege. We are nothing. Mankind is all.
By the grace of our brother we are allowed our lives. It is one of the many rules that their society
follows. In the novella Anthem by Ayn Rand, the hero is different from everyone in his society. He
is able to think for himself, not being under the control of the government frightens people;as they
see him as rebellious. By the end of his journey through self discoveries and countless trials,he

Personal Reflection Paper On Volunteering At Riverside...
Volunteering at COSI reminded me that children of all ages and backgrounds can get excited
about learning. I was able to make a clear, tangible difference in the lives by teaching children
science through enlightening experiments. However, because there are multiple age groups that
come and visit COSI, I never knew who was going to see to my experiment. This forced me to
become more flexible and think on my feet. It is always good to plan ahead, but excruciatingly
futile because you do not always know what is going to happen in the future. Some will be good,
and some will be bad. Being more flexible has helped me adapt better to my surroundings, face
challenges more easily and most importantly become effective with changes. At Riverside
Methodist Hospital, because I worked on floor duty and discharge, I interacted with patients and
heard interesting stories from owning pet fish to fighting in World War II. I saw their smiles
and I knew that even if it was for a little while, I helped a sick patient be happy and forget about
his or her troubles. Although I connected with many patients, I also saw a patient pass away. In a
way, this exposure to death at the hospital has made me value my friends even more. Before
volunteering, I prioritized academic success, but for most patients nearing the end, nothing is more
important than having people who will miss them. This simple truth has made me realize that it is
fine to go out and enjoy a movie with friends, because while grades are important, they will not
last a lifetime. The brave individuals I encountered at the hospital, despite being on opposite ends
of life from myself, have taught me how to live.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Negative Leadership and Youth Sports Essay
There are leaders in every situation and facet of life, leaders are everywhere around us, both in
the business world and out in the community. Leaders can be Supervisors, Managers, Pastors,
Teachers, or any person in any situation where they are trying to get a group of people to
accomplish a specific goal. As stated by Don Clark Good leaders are made not born (Clark
2010), leaders are developed by experience, training, education, and by watching and learning
from other leaders. Our children are learning how to be leaders everyday. They learn at school
from their teachers and after school, they learn from their friends and parents. One of the most

This poor coaching style has a significant impact on how a child views leadership, and impacts how
they develop as a leader. The biggest problem we face in youth sports is an emphasis on winning at
all cost. Success is the only option and failure is unacceptable.
In the words of Ricky Bobby, If you ain t first your last (Talladega Nights, 2006), is a very
common theme for most youth sports teams. In 2010 a local Cherry Creek Youth Sports football
team in the 11 year old division finished the season with a tough loss in the championship game.
This loss was the first loss in 3 years and the first time this team ended the season without a
championship trophy. This loss was tough to swallow, but it was also a time to celebrate the
end of a great streak. It was the time for the coach and parents to rally around the kids and
celebrate the season. Going 10 1 is a great feat, unless you are playing youth sports. Watching the
coach verbally blame the kids and then ignore the players is sadly not uncommon. It was the kid
s fault they lost, it was a complete lack of effort and it was a waste of a season. In the weeks that
followed the loss, the coach contacted several of the players and informed them that they will not
be welcomed back to the team because the coach needed more talented players to compete and to
win. Not once did the coach stop and think about the impact to the kids and the parents that were
asked back to the

1980s Music Videos
2.9 MUSIC VIDEOS
One of the most significant musical developments in advertising in the 1980s has been the advent
of music videos. The origin and purpose of music videos is promotional; they are themselves
advertisements. If follows that a good music video, according to the conception of the industry, will
share all of the features which distinguish a good advertisement. (David Huron, 1989)
The videos are entertaining, of course, but entertainment is no longer the goal; it is a tool. Many
broadcasters insert standard advertisements into the music video format, this indicates the power of
music videos not only to promote themselves but to sustain sufficient viewer interest that other
products can be promoted between successive music advertisements.

Hillary Clinton s Influence On American Politics
For the last 12 months America has been experiencing a liberal/progressive revolution. People all
over the country have been uniting behind Bernie Sanders and his cause to end the corruption in
Washington and restore the democratic power to the American people.
When Sanders, a relatively unknown, small state senator of Vermont officially announced on May
26, 2015 that he was running for the presidency, the media coverage was relatively scarce. For
years the Democratic National Committee (DNC) led by the former co chairman for Hillary
Clinton s 2008 presidential campaign and mainstream media had assumed Hillary Clinton to be the
Democratic nominee. According to these pundits, Hillary was, due to her experience,
recognisability, and vast amount of donor money, considered to be the ideal candidate for the
Democratic Party.
Therefore, as Sanders started surging in the polls prior to the initial state primary elections
surpassing Hillary in New Hampshire and keeping it close in Iowa, the bias of ... Show more

Analysis Of The Three Golden Hairs By Parker Fillmore
The Three Golden Hairs by Parker Fillmore, is a Czechoslovak folktale which is about a charcoal
burner s son s fate in marrying a king s daughter leading him to eventually rule. The story
revolves around the king doing everything in order to keep his daughter free from this marriage.
However, in the reading, there is a great deal of emphasis on power. This leads to the conclusion
that power through monarchy s in the culture of Czechoslovakia are a great deal of importance.
Throughout the story, the king steadily tried to control his own power as king. Until, the
obsession of power fell out of his hands and led to a complete downfall. A King who was a hunter

floated down the river and into the hands of a fisherman (para. 18). The fisherman said to his
wife, You have always wanted a little son and here you have one. The river has given him to us
(para. 19). The couple felt they had been blessed with the son they had been waiting for. Just
twenty years later, the King found himself in the vicinity of the land and river of the fisherman
and ran into his son, Plavachek, the baby who he thought was once drowned, but was now

request. The King wrote his wife the letter which read, Have the young man who delivers this

  • 4. NSANYS Board Of Directors Goals As a member of the NSANYS Board of Directors there are many goals I would aspire to accomplish. It is one of my hopes to provide NSNA members with greater access to opportunities to serve the community, particularly as it relates to health and wellness. During my time as a member of the Board of Directors I would seek to promote involvement in these activities. First, I would create a discussion through the NSANYS social media platforms to establish which types of volunteer programs NSNA members are most interested in. Additionally, through collaboration with the community health director and other NSANYS board members, I would reach out to NSNA school chapters to partner on upcoming community projects and share information on volunteer opportunities.... I would reach out directly to members of the ANA board to seek opportunities for collaboration and to learn about ANA events that nursing students would benefit from attending. Also, by routinely reviewing content on the ANA website, including upcoming events, health initiatives, and issues in healthcare affecting nurses, I could highlight the work of the ANA on social media platforms, thereby encouraging NSNA members and nursing students to become engaged and aware of issues vital to the field of nursing. I would strive to make this content relevant to nursing students and provide information on how they can become more involved. Additionally, to support my goal I would like to collaborate with the ANA to bring speakers to the NSANYS annual convention to further encourage NSNA members to engage with New York s nursing leaders and increase the ANA s presence at the convention. Also, by working with my fellow NSANYS board members I believe I am confident I could develop additional strategies for fostering the relationship between the NSANYS and ANA ... • 6. Hally s Optimism In Master Harold And The Boys Some people in the world may view a glass half empty, and some half full. This can be used to tell a lot about somebody. Throughout the play Master Harold and The Boys Hally and Sam s characters are introduced, and there are numerous times when Sam s positivity will outshine Hally s negativity, or vice versa. Hally s pessimistic attitude shows a clear juxtaposition to Sam s optimism. This is seen through Sam trying to make sure Hally has something good in his life to remember, Hally being verbally negative about the comic books, later on physically and verbally attacking Sam, and Sam attempting to stay calm and positive. There are not many of Hally s childhood memories shown throughout the play, let alone happy ones. The happy ones that were shown, though, were from Sam. Hally reminisces on the Afternoons in Sam s room as the good times with Willy and Sam (32). Along with Sam... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hally begins to raise his voice at Sam and then begins making racially insensitive jokes, with indirectly calling Sam a n***er (55). After Sam defensively responds to Hally, he spits in [Sam s] face (56). The fact that Hally committed these vile acts after having had Sam as one of his best friends his entire life, this just supports the idea that Hally is a naturally pessimistic person about most aspects in his life. Even though Hally spits on and verbally abuses Sam, Sam stays calm after the whole thing. After having Hally attack Sam, Sam manages to stay calm through it, and in the end, he ends up asking Hally if he wants to try again to fly a new kite (59). This is symbolic of Hally and Sam attempting to try again to mend their relationship and go back to how they were. Sam offering up this opportunity to Hally after he had just been attacked shows how much of a positive and optimistic person Sam is, to focus on the future and how they can move past ... Electrophilic Aromatic Substitution Formal Lab Essay Electrophilic Aromatic Substitution Objective The objective of this experiment was to illustrate electrophilic aromatic substitution by synthesizing p nitroanilide (as well as ortho) from acetanilide by nitration. Synthetic equations: Physical Properties amp; Hazards of Reagents/Products: (all taken from Sigma Aldrich website) Acetanilide MM = 135.16 g/mol Melting point = 113 115В°C Hazards: acute toxicity Sulfuric acid MM = 98.08 g/mol Boiling point = 290В°C Density = 1.840 g/mL Hazards: corrosive to metals and skin, serious eye damage Nitric acid MM = 63.01 g/mol Boiling point = 120.5В°C Density = ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Discussion Aromatic compounds can undergo electrophilic substitution reactions. In these reactions, the aromatic ring acts as a nucleophile (an electron pair donor) and reacts with an electrophilic reagent (an electron pair acceptor) resulting in the replacement of a hydrogen on the aromatic ring with the electrophile. Due to the fact that the conjugated 6ПЂ electron system of the aromatic ring is so stable, the carbocation intermediate loses a proton to sustain the aromatic ring rather than reacting with a nucleophile. Ring substituents strongly influence the rate and position of electrophilic attack. Electron donating groups on the benzene ring speed up the substitution process by stabilizing the carbocation intermediate. Electron withdrawing groups, however, slow down the aromatic substitution because formation of the carbocation intermediate is more difficult. The electron withdrawing group withdraws electron density from a species that is already positively charged making it very electron deficient. Therefore, electron donating groups are considered to be activating and electron withdrawing groups are deactivating . Activating substituents direct incoming groups to either the ortho or para positions. Deactivating substituents, with the exception of the halogens, direct incoming groups to the meta position. The experiment described above was an example of a specific electrophilic aromatic

How Tenyson Describes The Eagle How Tenyson Describes the Eagle In verse 1, line 1 he describes the eagle as being harsh, violent and rough by using alliteration in the words clasps , crag , and crooked . He uses onomatopoeia also in these words to get over the violentness of the bird and also its rough environment. When using the phrase crooked hands Tenyson is describing how the shape of the claws are crooked but when he used the word hands instead of claws this is implying the eagle has god like qualities. The phrase close to the sun has connotations of the bird being god like (because some religions worship the sun like a god). Tenyson describes the walls as his making it sound as if the eagle owns the mountains and its his territory. This furthers the idea of the eagle being powerful. In the last line of the poem Tenyson says And like a thunderbolt he falls This is saying how the eagle can fall effortlessly like a thunderbolt, which shows how much power the eagle holds. What did Cowper think of Tiney? Cowper is obviously very fond of his pet hare, Tiney. He is very protective over it; this is shown in verse 1 of the poem Here lies, whom hound did n er pursue, Nor swifter greyhound follow, Whose got ne er tainted morning dew, Nor ear heard huntsman s hallo ================================== Cowper is saying that his hare has never been let into danger, and his feet have never even touched the morning dew . This shows that Cowper cares for Tiney and will not let him come to any harm. In the second verse Cowper describes how he raised the hare like one of his children, but even though Cowper was trying to raise the hare like he was the hare still had a wild streak in him. I was furious because I did not like basketball at all, but my mom loved basketball, which is why she wanted me to play on the team. I am not playing on the basketball team! I exclaimed. Give it a chance. my mom pleaded. No, I don t want to! Please don t make me do this, I begged as I banged my hand on the counter of our island. So the rest of the night, I was stressing out over the first game because I had never played basketball before. I didn t get to practice with my team. I don t even know my coach or teammates. Why did my mom have to sign me up for basketball without even asking me? My stomach was in knots. My heart was pounding. It was 30 minutes before my first basketball game ever. My mom and I had arrived at the arena. It looked like it was just built with shiny red paint everywhere except on the doors. The double doors were a dull brown color. As I walked in, I was so overwhelmed. The building was not only enormous but also packed with tons of people. Over all of the people, I thought that I recognized one of them. There ... Thomas uses the metaphor the world is flat to explain how the global competitive field is being leveled. He first realizes this on his trip to Bangalore, India. On his trip he is followed by a discovery channel crew and he interviews Indian businessmen and women working for American companies. He discover that they can communicate with there partners around the world by video conferencing this is where he began his own theory of how the world became flat. • 13. Research Paper On Constructivism Constructivism: A Review Abstract Constructivism is an all encompassing theory of learning that emerged as a prevailing paradigm in the last part of the twentieth century. Constructivism is a theory which brings cogitation to pedagogy (Bruner, 1966). Constructivism capitalizes on the ways in which human beings create their own personal construct of reality by understanding and experiencing the world. The cornerstone of constructivism is that constructing personal meaning is ingrained in individuals right from the birth (Vygotsky, 1978). The Overview Constructivist approach explains the ways in which learners make their own personal senses of learning tasks, the environment, the teacher, and the actual process of learning (Vygotsky, 1962). Learners are actively involved in the process of learning shaping their experiences about the world by other significant people (Vygotsky, 1962). 3 Constructivism is part of educational psychology which places the learner at the central focus. Learner learns by interacting in a social context of teacher and text. Each individual learner is sui generis, no two learners are the same. The ways they view the world are not the same. Learners bring these differences to the learning situation. Teachers must be cognizant of these differences. Furthermore no two teachers and teaching situations are ever the same. Like students, teachers should become self aware of their beliefs and attitude to the teaching and learning and make their own contributions to the learner as the situations arise (Williams and Burden, 1997). While learners are interacting with the task beforehand, teachers are required to take the learners response to the tasks to see if they are appropriate to their levels of developments congruent ... Please describe all the possible adaptive immune response to this uncharacterized virus Introduction: The adaptive immune response is the response of antigen specific lymphocytes to antigen, it functions through a series of steps aimed at limiting or destroying a particular antigen. Their two primary jobs are to ensure antibody production against the appropriate target antigen occurs and there is presentation of antigen to T cells and signals for T cell activation are provided. B cells provide protection of the host by producing antibodies that identify and neutralize foreign objects like viruses. These B cells then differentiate into plasma cells and memory cells. Plasma cells are terminally differentiated B cells that remain committed to the continuous production and secretion of antibodies. Each plasma will synthesise and secret only one type of antibody. Memory B cells are long lived B cells that have specialised to remembering the type of substances that the immune system has seen before, they are primed for rapid response to repeated exposure of the antigen. Memory B cells are generated in the lymphoid tissue and migrate to the lymph nodes and reside in the ready mode for activation in order to quickly recognise and attack any returning virus. T cells attack cells that have become infected by viruses, there are two types of T cells the T helper cell ad the cytotoxic T cell. T helper cells do not attack infected cells directly, instead they release chemical messengers known as cytokines that signal differentiation, growth and action of other immune cells. Cytotoxic T cells go around in the body looking for and wanting to destroy pathogenic cells directly. Cytotoxic T cells attach to the compromised cell and release chemical factors that are able to kill their targets by programming then to undergo apoptosis. * Dendritic ... According to Bass (1990), this method inspires people to have a passion for what they do, which usually leads to the job being done better and more thoroughly. This type of leadership also adds a sense of independence to the follower. They will begin to think and act on their own, progressively turning into a leader of their own followers. If a Stormtrooper, which is one of the empire s soldiers, doesn t complete his orders, then Vader very well might put him to death. This means you can chose to be scared and back off, or commit to face your fears without worrying about what the consequences or the result will be when you make this choice. Correspondingly, the theme of The Outsiders is that committing and making choices that you may not like, may have a beneficial, long term effect on the people around you. • 23. Nietzsche, A Critic Of Religion Nietzsche is widely known as a critic of religion. In fact, he talks in depth about morality in regards to religion in his essays about the genealogy of morals. But the problem is not within religion itself or within morals. The problem is involved in the combination of the two to create society s understanding of moralitythrough a very religious lens. In fact, Nietzsche has criticism for almost any set of morals constructed by a group of individuals and meant to be applied to society as a whole. True morality, according to Nietzsche, requires a separation from these group dynamic views of morality or at least a sincere look into where they originated and why they persist and a movement towards a more introverted, and intrinsically personalized understanding of what morals mean in spite of the fact that the normative force to which every member of society is exposed, in the form of obligations, codes of behavior, and other moral rules and guidelines, is disproportionally high (Korfmacher 6). As Nietzsche points out, within society there is a tendency to conflate religious standards with morality. In fact, it is difficult to discuss morality at all without running into issues that appear to be religious by their nature, but which, upon reflection, do not need to be put under that blanket. According to Nietzsche, we tend to mix religionand morality together because that is how we developed morality from the beginning of humanity. In fact, Nietzsche believes that all ... The number of samples or subgroups that need to be collected before the first out of control signal is given by a chart is a random variable called the ran length. The efficiency of a CC depends on the probability distribution of the run length. The most common efficiency criterion is to consider the average run length (ARL), which is the expected value of the run length distribution. It is desirable (often stipulated) that the ARL of a chart be large when the process is in control and small when the process is out of control. The false alarm rate is the probability that a chart signals a process change when in fact there is no change, that is, when the process is in control. This is similar to the probability of a Type I error in the context of hypothesis testing. In practice, the stability of a process is usually determined relative to one or more of its output characteristics such as the mean and/or the variance. My lack of sleep did not allow me to remember very many of my dreams during the school week. From Friday night to Sunday night, I was able to sleep much more because I did not have a crushing amount of homework. Although I did sleep the recommended eight hours those days, I only remember a little snippet of a dream. From Friday night to Saturday morning, I remember my family and I on a beach together in Hawaii. Dreaming about Hawaii represents trying to escape your daily problems. That is fitting because the end of the school week oftentimes I want to forget all of the work that I have to accomplish over the coming weekend. Family represents security, warmth and love. This could be because I am leaving for college next year, and I do not fully know what will happen, and I desire a sense of warmth and love from my family. • 34. Marginalation Of Women In Tennessee WilliamsA Streetcar... Women are marginalised in A Streetcar Named Desire through their economic status, their mental health and their place as a woman in the society of 1940s. They are held as possessions for admiration and housework. Neither of the men in the play treat them as they should be treated, and see them as nothing more than a housemaker and a child bearer. Also, it is made prominently clear by Williams that no womanwould be able to survive without a man at that time. However, at some occasions, Williams portrays that women can prove to be challenging if undermined. Blanche Dubois is an epitome of this portrayal of women in the 1940s. She s portrayed as a character who is running away from her past, whilst still dragging it with her, everything ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They were meant to be flirtatious whist also being chaste. Blanche Dubois tries to maintain this image. However, without any people witnessing her, she s antithesis to this role. Her solution to her problems is via escaping to alcohol consumption, promiscuity and madness. This escape portrays that women in the new emerging world can no longer keep up with the role of a Southern Belle. It is the character of Stanley that forces her to fall out of this character and show other people who she really is. Here, Blanche is shown suppressed by him, which leads to her becoming powerless. She cannot overcome the power and dominance of Stanley. They have an ongoing feud with each other during the play. And as we know, it is Stanley who prevails through his rape of Blanche. This victory isn t just of Stanley over Blanche, it is a victory of masculinity over femininity, oppression over suppression, New America over Old South. By Stanley winning the feud, Williams displays that it s the man who holds all the cards. The rape implies the ultimate powerlessness of Blanche and women in the play. By Stanley raping Blanche, it is not just defeat for Blanche, however, it is a defeat for all women in the play. Through this gesture, Williams has shown that in the 1940s, a woman cannot take home the prize in a man dominated world. In addition to this, Williams decides to include the role of a Southern Belle. • 35. Monster Study Stuttering Theory The Monster Study Wendell Johnson devised the Monster study in 1939 at the Soldiers and Sailors Orphans Home in Dayton, Iowa to find the true cause of stuttering, which he and many others suffered from (Reynolds, 2003). The popular theory at the time was that stuttering was a physiological defect, meaning the brain s signals misfired; however, Johnson believed that stuttering was a learned behavior and could be unlearned (Reynolds, 2003, n.pag). To see if his hypothesis was correct, Johnson devised an experiment now known as the Monster Study. Before he could begin he requested the help of one of his students at the time, Mary Tudor, to carry out the experiment for him. Before the experiment Tudor and 5 other graduate students ranked twenty six children s speech on a scale of one to five, one being poor and five being fluent (Reynolds, 2003, n.pag). Based on this the children were separated into four groups: IA consisted of five children who stuttered, but were told nice things; IB consisted of five children who stuttered and were told negative things; IIA consisted of six children who did not stutter but, were told they did, and, IIB consisted of six children who did not stutter and were told nice things. Tudor used rehearsed responses such as, you will be able to speak even better than you are speaking now on students in IA and responses such as Don t ever speak unless you can do it right on children in IIA (Reynolds, 2003, n.pag.). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In my own opinion the transfer price that Kamp should insist on for the Type 2A engine now is €3450 per unit. This is using the principle of the minimum transfer price which is the variable cost plus the profit if it sells its engines externally then adds the cost of €200 of developing the Type 2A engine. However in the future the price may increase because fixed cost will be added as capacity may become a problem with the expected rise of demand for cars and engines, and also if Kamp is allowed to sell externally the type 2, 3, and 4 engines, so the price in the future should be €4750. The proposed transfer price now is also lower than the expected prices from Black and FER so it should not be a problem with Guy Mercier who is pressuring Kamp to sell the engine at a reasonable price so that he can raise profit and bonus for his division. Problem No. 2 Please discuss the possibilities of increasing Kamp s profit by using the formula for basic cost per unit and by reorganizing. Please use a concrete example to indicate how the board of Kamp can manipulate the unit costs for the types 2, 3, and 4 by reorganizing its cost information system. How Did Geography Affect Where Colonists Settled Essay Beginning in 1607, when ambitious English colonists settled in Jamestown, and continuing until the last of the thirteen colonies was established; geography was a substantial factor in the development of colonial America. The crops that essentially saved the colonists lives, such as tobacco, rice, and indigo, wouldn t have grown without a certain type and amount of soil to grow properly. Also, the Appalachian Mountains and the dense forests provided a barrier for the colonists, preventing them from going too far west right away, and causing the colonies to form in the arrangement they did. This geological factor forced colonists to spread out within the perimeters of the Appalachian Mountains and the Atlantic Ocean, without being too close together. Both of these factors could be overlooked easily enough, but did have a reasonable impact of the development of colonial America. Finally, the geography of the middle colonies, such as New York, New Jersey, Delaware, and Pennsylvania played a big role on the development and population of this area. In the sixteen and seventeen hundreds, the above colonies were the most populated of the thirteen establishments. There was plentiful and fertile soil, in which tobacco was heavily grown. The Susquehanna River also flowed through this region, opening the possibility of fur trade. Other minor rivers that were found in the middle colonies were gentle, which provided for easy transportation and fishing. The land in the middle colonies was broad and expansive, making it easy for even the middle class residents to create an enjoyable and profitable lifestyle. Mercutio s purpose as a character is most significantly revealed in his relationship with Romeo, his baiting of Tybalt, and his death. More importantly, Mercutio functions as the catalyst for the pattern of disasters in the play that follows his own tragic death, making him, as described by critic Stephen Greenblatt a spirit that seems to challenge the very possibility of romantic love or tragic destiny (856). Mercutio s bawdry and scorn are seen as especially ill mannered because he expresses it in an age celebrating domesticity and middle class marriage (Porter 34). The connection of Mercutio s name to the misogynistic god Mercury supports his view of love and relationships (Porter 38). Mercutio s Mercurian message is that Romeo should stay with, or come back to, the world of male comradeship (Porter 107). Furthermore, Mercury was a troublesome, quick to anger, and swift messenger. Likewise, Mercutio is hot headed and quick to act. Mercutio s need for action and his ridiculing nature are also seen in his aggressive baiting of Tybalt. The novel Downsiders by Neal Shusterman is an example of this. The novel has the theme that when people separate into groups and cultures, they have a hard time understanding the opposite and tend to judge. But those who accept, benefit greatly. The Author used an extravagant amount of literary devices that have to do with the theme of accepting difference. The hyperbole A frenzied group of crazed topsiders, (page 47) is an example. It s a great example of the theme because it shows the opinion and viewpoint the downsiders have of the topsiders. Through reading the quote you can get a sense that the downsiders want nothing to do with the topsiders and that they think the topsiders run around pointless and don t get anywhere. Working on the railroads, labor workers already had poor working conditions and low wages. However, the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad (B O) had made its second wage cut in the past eight months; both cuts by ten percent. In response to this, labor workers refused to allow any freight trains to roll in and out of the station until the restoration of their original wages. The railroad strikers included individuals from railroad workers to other labor sympathizers alike. The Great Strike of 1877 succeeded for the labor economy because of the large number of labor supporters, the overpowering of the militia, and the power of initiative from the people. Several citizens supported the laborers because of the dangers their jobs came with and their impact on the overall economy of the United States. The strikers refused to restart the trains, so the B O company employed new men to restart the trains, however, the strikers immediately interfered. When the police went to protect the new men, the strikers were, reinforced by a large body of citizens, swelling the crowd till it reached the proportions of a large mob ( Serious Strike ). I was able to make a clear, tangible difference in the lives by teaching children science through enlightening experiments. However, because there are multiple age groups that come and visit COSI, I never knew who was going to see to my experiment. This forced me to become more flexible and think on my feet. It is always good to plan ahead, but excruciatingly futile because you do not always know what is going to happen in the future. Some will be good, and some will be bad. Being more flexible has helped me adapt better to my surroundings, face challenges more easily and most importantly become effective with changes. At Riverside Methodist Hospital, because I worked on floor duty and discharge, I interacted with patients and heard interesting stories from owning pet fish to fighting in World War II. I saw their smiles and I knew that even if it was for a little while, I helped a sick patient be happy and forget about his or her troubles. Although I connected with many patients, I also saw a patient pass away. In a way, this exposure to death at the hospital has made me value my friends even more. One of the most impactful leaders of children in every community is a youth sports coach. In 2006 it was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This poor coaching style has a significant impact on how a child views leadership, and impacts how they develop as a leader. The biggest problem we face in youth sports is an emphasis on winning at all cost. Success is the only option and failure is unacceptable. In the words of Ricky Bobby, If you ain t first your last (Talladega Nights, 2006), is a very common theme for most youth sports teams. In 2010 a local Cherry Creek Youth Sports football team in the 11 year old division finished the season with a tough loss in the championship game. This loss was the first loss in 3 years and the first time this team ended the season without a championship trophy. In the weeks that followed the loss, the coach contacted several of the players and informed them that they will not be welcomed back to the team because the coach needed more talented players to compete and to win. • 57. Hillary Clinton s Influence On American Politics For the last 12 months America has been experiencing a liberal/progressive revolution. People all over the country have been uniting behind Bernie Sanders and his cause to end the corruption in Washington and restore the democratic power to the American people. When Sanders, a relatively unknown, small state senator of Vermont officially announced on May 26, 2015 that he was running for the presidency, the media coverage was relatively scarce. For years the Democratic National Committee (DNC) led by the former co chairman for Hillary Clinton s 2008 presidential campaign and mainstream media had assumed Hillary Clinton to be the Democratic nominee. According to these pundits, Hillary was, due to her experience, recognisability, and vast amount of donor money, considered to be the ideal candidate for the Democratic Party. Therefore, as Sanders started surging in the polls prior to the initial state primary elections surpassing Hillary in New Hampshire and keeping it close in Iowa, the bias of ... The fisherman said to his wife, You have always wanted a little son and here you have one. The river has given him to us (para. 19).
