Video compression utilizes high computational power. For real time requirements of multimedia
applications faster computations need to be performed. To fulfill such requirements of video
compression a parallel computational algorithm can be implemented. In this thesis, the parallelism
of multi core architecture was exploited using block matching algorithm. The test implementation
of the algorithm was done on MATLAB. The parallel model was designed using OpenMP and its
implementation was tested on multi core architectures. The parallel implementation divides a
current frame into independent macro blocks and each block is allotted to OpenMP section which
then assigns it to a thread for performing the computations. The result of the implementation shows
speedier computations with effective utilization of multi cores. This work suggests a promising
approach which can further be developed and exploited. Keywords motion estimation, block

Apart from law and order there were many other problems in mining towns. The majority of the
population were males and built their own cabins, this meant they were probably not very good
or safe. Also they did there own cooking, which probably wasn t the best diet and probably got
food poisoning often. There was an epidemic of typhoid in fall and early winter but there were no
deaths, which show there were healthy and strong. The houses had no drains and most houses were
badly kept so the houses were most likely dirty.
The problems of law and order in early western towns can be studied using the sources these

Therefore, women believed that they had no choice other than to side with men. They were
dependent on their fathers or husbands income, which prevented them from freedom. Although

Productiveness
The most productive part of the counseling session was when I found myself thinking about how
I left my door unlocked and windows open, which did leave to an awkward pause, however I
regained self awareness and began to discuss how the client and I will discuss his goals in a future
session. The reason I found this to be the most productive was because it pushed me to regain
control in an effective way and demonstrated that counselors makes mistakes to the client, which
could add to the authenticity aspect.
Problem Areas There are several areas of which I need to improve upon. One of the biggest areas
of improvement would include be responding opposed to reacting. For example when the client
stated, I train my dog to go to the bathroom on my neighbor s lawn and I don t have a dog. I
immediately began laughing. I should have paused, then responded with a clarifying question.
Another problem area was, the awkward pauses and loose structure. I believe I had several
awkward pauses throughout the session as a result of overthinking. I should have stated what came
to me naturally instead of worrying about saying it correctly or in a specific order.
Ethics
Ethics appeared in this session when discussing the informed consent. The reason a counselor goes
over informed consent with their client is because the categories within the form can lead to
ethical dilemmas if left unclear. In this session, I felt as though I had gone over each category in
the document. Though with that being said, I feel that next session I will elaborate in a more
concise and efficient manner. In this session, I was a bit unorganized and reiterated a lot of the
same information.
Multicultural Competencies Unfortunately I do not feel that I grew in a multicultural competent
manner. I think that when the client and I have our next session, there will be room to grow
culturally because the focus will be on him, not the informed consent.

When the client and I discussed the referral process and areas outside of my scope of practice that I

Political Style Of George Orwell
George Orwell is well known for his writing focusing on political events throughout Europe. His
most popular novels sent warnings about totalitarianism to its readers, leaving that as his mark in
literature. However, a closer look at his writing shows his changing political views based on both
the political movements at the time and Orwell s experiences with those political movements. Eric
Arthur Blair, better known under the pseudonym George Orwell, based his writing on the political
climate during his time. Living from 1903 to 1950, Orwell found himself writing about the ever
changing, politically charged environment around him. As Orwell wrote, background information
must be included because one cannot assess a writer s motives without knowing something of
his early development. His father, who Orwell was not close to, was a minor British official in
the Indian Civil Service, which would later influence his opinion on British imperialism in
Burma. His family was lower middle class, even though they had high social status. They returned
to England, where Orwell went to school at Eton on a scholarship (Baker vii). He was unhappy
during his time at school since his family made much less money than the other boys there. After
Eton, he returned to Burma as a member of the Imperial constabulary. He discovered that he was
hated by the Burmese since he was a symbol of British imperialism, which made him hate the work
itself (viii).
His experiences lead to his writing, Burmese Days, and his return to England to live amongst the
beggars in the East End of London. His experiences both there and in the slums of Paris lead to
Down and Out in Paris and London and The Road to Wigan Pier. The latter ended with harsh
criticisms of the socialist movements of the time. His time in the Spanish Civil War, which
included nearly losing his life at the hands of communists who wanted to suppress their political
opponents, was detailed in Homage to Catalonia and left him with a lifelong dread of communism.
This experience could have been why his next writing, Coming Up for Air, showed a more
conservative side (Baker vii).

sight. I jumped out of bed, and made my way to the bathroom down the hall. As I was finishing
with brushing my teeth, I spit in the sink, looked at myself in the mirror with a stern glance and

I figured that the heat was getting to me. In my pads, the heat felt as if it was over 110 degrees,
like I was the only one in the desert, and had gone without water for days. In all reality it was only
in the low 90s. I felt so weak after practice. No one said a word after practice either, not even Moss

would help me identify whether a person is lying or not lying. The two main ideas to spotting a
liar is by body language and by speech. These two points are essential in the way a person
