there must be stronger regulations regarding firearm sales in this country. IV. Policy Description

Segregation has been in America since it was founded, and although it has lessened it is still present
today. Slavery ended in 1865 with the 13th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution; which stated that
slavery was illegal. At the time, most white people were still racist, and African Americans weren t
treated like normal members of society. In 1868, the 14th Amendment stated that everyone born in
America is a citizen. Unfortunately, although many years had past, prejudices on integration still
remained in 1957, when the Little Rock Nine happened.
Desegregation has been difficult for America, and although progress has been made, research shows
that much room for improvement remains.
An event that showed the difficulties of integration was the ordeal of Little Rock Nine. In 1954,
the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in the case Brown v. Board of Education that the segregation of
public schools was unconstitutional. On September 4, 1957, (the first day of school) the National
Guard was sent to escort a group of nine African American students into Central High in Little
Rock, Arkansas. This group was called The Little Rock Nine, and they were enrolled in the
previously all white Central High to start integration in schools.

I just emailed out my last meeting reminders for the semester at Biola. Thankfully, they do not
represent the final meetings with the majority of people with whom I meet. Of the 52 individuals I
have met with, 42 of them will continue after the first of the year. This continuity allows for greater
understanding of their stories and greater capacity to help them discern Gods voice in their lives.
Those who are transitioning out create space for new people, and new opportunities to discover the
movements of God in the direction room.

Along with these individuals, I have led three groups, with a total of 21 people. This provides a
totally different dynamic, which allows the members to discover how the Spirit of God can speak
through them, into the lives of others. What takes place in these groups is often surprising and
powerful, as we see God meet people in life giving ways. Each of these groups will continue in the
New Year, and I will be adding a fourth, rather large group, of 16 people.

Norman Rockwell, a name most have heard if not learned, when the topic of art was ever
brought up, was a famous artist and illustrator who depicted the highs and lows of the common
man. His art is loved by many today as it was decades ago. Many have seen his work be it online, at
an art museum or in an art history book and have been intrigued by his art. I will be covering the
early life, artistic success and tragic passing of the great artist, Norman Rockwell.
Born in New York City on February 3 of year 1894, Norman Perceval Rockwell was destined for
fame and great artistry. At the age of 14, Norman already knew what he wanted to be an artist. He
was then enrolled in art classes at The New York School of Art (also known formerly as the... Show
It had been Rockwell s dream to do a cover for the Post magazine. Although not having an
appointment, he showed his work to the editor hoping for the best. The editor acknowledged
and accepted Rockwell s two finished works as covers and three other sketches for future covers.
His dream had in fact became a reality and this was just the start of a long relationship Norman
would have with the iconic magazine, a 47 year relationship to be exact. In total, he painted over
320 covers for the Post. Rockwell s victory with the magazine won him interest by other
magazines which in turn led him to begin selling his paintings and drawings. One of his best and
most memorable covers was the 1927 celebration of Charles Lindbergh s crossing of the Atlantic.
Another magazine that he worked for was Look, which featured his cover capturing the imprint of
Neil Armstrong s foot on the moon s surface after the successful moon landing in 1969.
The 1930s and 40s were the best eras for Rockwell. In 1930, he married a second time to a
woman named Mary Barstow. Mary was a schoolteacher, and together her and Rockwell had three

management for over 40 years. However, in the past 20 years, Lewin s approach to change,
particularly the 3 Step model, has attracted major criticisms. The key ones are that his work:
assumed organizations operate in a stable state; was only suitable for small scale change projects;
ignored organizational power and politics; and was top down and management driven. This article
seeks to re appraise Lewin s work and challenge the validity of these views. It begins by describing

LEWIN S BACKGROUND
Few social scientists can have received the level of praise and admiration that has been heaped
upon Kurt Lewin (Ash, 1992; Bargal et al., 1992; Dent and
Goldberg, 1999; Dickens and Watkins, 1999; Tobach, 1994). As Edgar Schein
(1988, p. 239) enthusiastically commented:
There is little question that the intellectual father of contemporary theories of applied behavioural
science, action research and planned change is Kurt Lewin.
His seminal work on leadership style and the experiments on planned change which took place in
World War II in an effort to change consumer behaviour launched a whole generation of research in
group dynamics and the implementation of change programs.

resolution of social con п¬‚ict and, in particular, the problems of minority or disadvantaged
groups. Underpinning this preoccupation was a strong belief that only the permeation of

Religion and spirituality have been complex issues in the United States of America. This is
especially true when it comes to Native Americans. Since the 16th century, contact between
Native Americans and Europeans has been filled with both good and bad. In this paper, the issue
of religion and spirituality and how they figure into the story of Indian European contact between
the 16th and 21st centuries will be discussed. The people of the Eastern Woodlands held beliefs
about the human, natural, and supernatural worlds. The people believed that there was no line

showed an increase in the number of T cells without an accompanying effect on mitogenic

vitamin E and the antioxidant nutrients (18).

The Use Of The Sit-In Movement In The Civil Rights Movement
The sit in movement acted as a major protest and turning point for the Civil Rights Movement. The
sit ins highlighted the main moral issue that was being fought: racial discrimination and
segregation. Blacks utilized the strategies of nonviolence and student involvement in order to
combat the moral issue of racial segregation ( Ain t Scared of Your Jails ). The appeal for human
rights through the use of nonviolencewas an important strategy utilized by blacks during the Civil

The capacity inventory was used to interview Kallie Parsons, the department head for the City of

If you are reading this, it is probably sometime much further in the future than the date on the top
of this page. I am writing this letter because I would like to share with you a fond memory of
mine. Attached to this letter there should be a collage. I do not know how the environment will

Video game play can be fun, recreational and now with video game consoles such as the Wii, it
can even be healthy. However, some video games are brutally and exceedingly violent, which
should be fine because after all it s just a video game. However, we need to understand and know if
the effects of these violent video games are positive or negative amongst the youth. There are
arguments that say violence in video games are corrupt on the minds of the youth. Then, there are
opposing arguments that say video games are an educational learning tool for them. This literature
review will review both sides of this argument in an attempt to determine what effect violent video
games may have on our youth.
Everyone deals with stress and frustrations differently. However when action is taken out of
frustration and stress, the results are generally not positive. The crime and abuse rate in the United
States has soared in the past decade. More and more children suffer from and are being treated for
anger management than ever before. Now, one can t help but to wonder if these violent video
games are even playing a slight part in the current statistics. I believe they do. Some argue that
video game violence is negatively detrimental upon youth and destructively influential. According
to Anderson et al (2003), they researched multiple studies in which

Theme Of Violence In Huck Finn
Violence can be described as a behavior involving physical force intended to hurt, damage, or
kill someone or something. Violence has been around from the beginning and can be seen
through history in writing and events that occurred. In Mark Twain s The Adventures of
Huckleberry Finn, violence s jarring effects on societal members are evidenced through various
relationships and partnerships, portraying society s corrupt ideologies and ethics. Child abuse
had a great on effect Huck s whether if it had to do with where he is living or a decision he has
made. Huck has been abused for most if not all of his life by his father, Pap. Huck stated, I used
to be scared of him all the time, he tanned me so much (17). This quote shows how Huck had to
deal with Pap s abuse before and could not help himself. It shows that Pap has poor ethics shown
by beating his child simply because he can. This is an immoral act on Pap s part because he
believes he can control Huck s life including his life choices and his possessions. Pap says, I ll
take you down a peg, before I m done with you (17). Pap continues to torment and threaten Huck
even though he has not been around of the most recent parts of Huck s life. Pap s ideologies have
not changed since Huck was younger. Pap s ideals consist of being able to do what he wants when
he wants. This was apparent when he tries to threaten Huck and put himself above Huck. In the
1800s community leaders felt responsible for helping orphaned or abandoned
