Former Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden has questioned Ravindra Jadeja's "flow" while batting for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL 2024), stating that Moeen Ali could have been promoted by CSK ahead of Jadeja against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Friday. In the first four IPL 2024 matches, Jadeja has scored 84 runs at a strike rate of 140. Jadeja scored an undefeated 31 off 23 deliveries, including four boundaries, against SRH.
1. “Ravindra Jadeja could do better than
this”!
Former Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden has
questioned Ravindra Jadeja's "flow" while batting for the
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 2024 Indian Premier
League (IPL 2024), stating that Moeen Ali could have been
promoted by CSK ahead of Jadeja against Sunrisers
Hyderabad (SRH) on Friday. In the first four IPL 2024
matches, Jadeja has scored 84 runs at a strike rate of 140.
Jadeja scored an undefeated 31 off 23 deliveries, including
four boundaries, against SRH.
Hayden stated that as Jadeja lacks that flow in the IPL
2024, CSK might have chosen to send England all-rounder
Moeen Ali up the order. In Hyderabad, Jadeja batted at
number five, ahead of players like Daryl Mitchell, MS
Dhoni, and Moeen.
Against Hyderabad, Ravindra Jadeja scored 31 runs off of
23 balls
At number five in the batting order, Ravindra Jadeja
batted ahead of Moeen Ali, Daryl Mitchell, and MS Dhoni.
But CSK eventually lost that match by a margin of six
wickets. A "fantastic" Shivam Dube, who scored 45 runs
off only 24 deliveries, also won Hayden over.
While Mitchell scored 13 runs off of 11 balls and remained
undefeated at 31 off 23 balls, T Natarajan removed
Mitchell in the last over. When Dhoni came out to bat in
the last over, the Hyderabad fans became even louder.
However, CSK concluded the first innings with 165 for 5,
as the five-time IPL champion could only manage one run
off of two balls.
In the Hyderabad match between SRH and CSK, Jadeja
scored the third-highest amount of runs. He hit four fours
in his inning and scored 31 off 23 balls. With just three
balls remaining in Chennai's batting innings, Moeen, on
2. the other hand, was deprived of the opportunity to bat as
MS Dhoni came to bat ahead of him.
IPL 2024 Highlights: Sunrisers defeat Chennai by six
wickets
Sunriser’s vs CSK Ruturaj Gaikwad (26) and Rachin
Ravindra (12) played some strokes to give CSK a strong
start against SRH. However, Bhuvneshwar Kumar removed
the New Zealand batsman in the fourth over. At one point,
CSK was 54/2, but Ajinkya Rahane and Shivam Dube
combined for 65 runs for the third wicket to get the
visitors back on track.
Unfortunately, Dube and Rahane were dismissed in less
than an over's time. After being eventually confined to
165/5, SRH managed to hunt down the score in 18.1
overs, thanks to a half-century from former captain Aiden
Markram.
Rachin Ravindra, the first player for Chennai, and Captain
Ruturaj Gaikwad scored runs at a healthy clip in the first
two overs. Rachin was removed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar in
the fourth over. After securing a 21-ball 26 as Shahbaz
Ahmed scored in his first and only over of the day,
Gaikwad trailed Rachin back to the pavilion.
The counsel of Matthew Hayden for CSK and Ravindra
Jadeja
Hayden was having a conversation with anchor Mayanti
Langer before to the game. The legendary Australian
batsman stated Dube would need to step up when asked
how CSK might get better. Even MS Dhoni's heroic 37 off
16 balls in the previous game against Delhi Capitals (DC)
could not send CSK home. Hayden said that Microsoft had
been given too much.
Jadeja also failed to make an impression in that game.
Even though he didn't get out, Chennai needed to score
more runs than his 21 off 17 balls to win. Following two
wins in a row, CSK has now dropped two straight games.
3. Experienced CSK player Matthew Hayden believes that in
the April 5 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH),
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ought to have sent Moeen Ali
up in the batting order rather than Ravindra Jadeja. Star
Sports featured a speech by the former Australian opener.
