2. Wilkerson Company Manufactured Water Purification Equipment
Wilkerson Case Wilkerson Company, led by Robert Parker as president, has struggled with profit
margin. Parker and other high level employees evaluated the company in an attempt to find the reason
behind lack of success. Wilkerson Company manufactured water purification equipment. This
includes valves, pumps, and flow controllers. The process of manufacturing and assembling items was
assessed using the activity based costing method. They conducted a test studying the application of
direct labor, direct material, and overhead costs. Wilkerson faced multiple competitive situations that
handcuffed them to the rest of the industry. They encountered decreasing pre tax margins bottoming
out at less than 3%, much below the historical margins of 10%. They battled this by raising prices by
10%, without losing any business. They were able to keep business because of the increasing
opportunities selling flow controllers. Shortly after, competitors reduced prices on pumps. As a result,
Parker had no choice but to match reduced prices on this precious commodity to maintain high
volume of sales. On the plus Wilkerson established a loyal customer base because of the high quality
of their valves. They also have the proper equipment and labor to produce the new valve and flow
controllers. The current method of their cost system does not provide and accurate representation of
the actual cost to produce the 3 products. Wilkerson should deal with overhead costs through products

5. The Fujiwara s Influence On The Imperial Family
The Fujiwara clan was founded in the 7th century by Nakatomi no Kamatari during the Heian period.
Later Kamatari conspired with Prince Naka No Oe to take down the Soga clan, one of the most
powerful clans of the Asuka period of the early Japanese state, and to destroy the Soga s influence on
the imperial family (Rhee 3). The Soga s fell out of power and the prince, after being coronated,
granted Katamari a high position in the imperial court; after that their clan name was Fujiwara. The
Fujiwara is one of the four great clans that now dominated the Heian politics, along with the
Mimamoto, the Taira, and the Tachinana (Rhee 5). The Fujiwara reigned prosperously and exceeded in
gaining vast political power through marriage politics. For over three centuries the family claimed

6. American Black Bears Research Paper
When most people hear the word black bear, they think about the cute little cubs, running around and
playing with each other, and not what makes them such intriguing animals, considering they are only
found in North America, and are the smallest of the bear family. American black bears are the most
common bears found in North America. They can be seen in at least 40 of the 50 states, Canada, and
part of Mexico. Florida and Louisiana each have their own subspecies of the traditional black bear that
make up small sections of the entire population.
Some of the physical traits on an American black bear are slick black fur, a brown muzzle and
individuals may have some type of markings on their chest. Location also affects the color of their fur,
some of the Western populations possess brown, cinnamon and even blond coloring. There is even a
rare genetic phenomenon where a black bear will be born and have bluish white fur and it only
happens in southeastern Alaska. What sets the Louisiana black bear apart from the rest is that it ...

The story of bioremediation and its recent development as an oil spill response technology provides an
interesting example of how a new environmental technology comes into being. Based on the U.S.
experience (highly influenced by the Exxon Valdez oil spill), the history of bioremediation in spill
response can be divided into three development periods (after Hoff, 1993): the courtship period until
1989, the honeymoon period from 1989 until 1991, and the establishment period since 1992.
1. Courtship Period (pre 1989)
The first courtship period was primarily a research period, when bioremediation was little known
outside the microbiology or hazardous waste community. Many published articles from the 1970s and
earlier documented the process of microbial degradation of oil, both in the laboratory and in field
trials. A number of scientific papers on this topic were published during the 1970s and 1980s,
including several review papers covering mechanisms of biodegradation, and papers presenting results
from controlled field experiments measuring degradation rates in various environments. Several
studies following major oil spills like the Amoco Cadiz measured oil degradation in the environment
and confirmed previously published results from laboratory studies (Hoff, 1993). These works
established a basic understanding of biodegradation of oil as an important component of the process

9. Analysis Of Thomas Hardy s Of The D
Author Thomas Hardy is typically distinguished for following a trend in which all his fiction is
characterized by chance being the incarnation of the blind forces controlling human destiny. As J
Clipper once said, Hardy reflected Nietzsche s agonized cry that God is dead , in his novels. His view
of life was that since there is no God to give meaning to life, Man is alone in the Universe, no better
and no worse than other creatures who live or have lived for a brief moment on this speck called
Earth. The Universe and fate is essentially malevolent and benevolent. Hardy believes that God,
whether he once was once a presence or not, has disappeared entirely from the world. People are left
to defend themselves and cope in a society ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tess is exposed to the cruelty of fate from the moment that God places her into the Durbyfield family.
Born into a poverty stricken and uneducated family, she is subject to the hardships that that entails.
Her Father an alcoholic and her Mother less of a woman than she is herself, her upbringing already
sets her apart from the rest of the world, and she recognizes her underprivileged condition. Did you
say the stars were worlds, Tess? Yes. All like ours? I don t know, but I think so. They sometimes seem
to be like the apples on our stubbard tree. Most of them splendid and sound a few blighted. Which do
we live on a Splendid one or a blighted one? A blighted one. (Hardy 54) Tess is raised in an
environment that encourages a belief in a kind of predetermination and fatality, demonstrated by the
fact that her mother often consults the complete fortune teller, an old book of astrological guidance.
Tess however has been educated, and thus does not subscribe to the same beliefs that her mother does.
In a similar way, Hardy uses Tess s father John Durbyfield to illustrate the power of fate to change one
s life. In chapter one, when John is told of the nobility that exists in their bloodline, he believes that
their life will soon be catastrophically changed. Don t you really know, Durbyfield, that you are the
lineal representative of the

13. U.s. Federal Campaign Finance Reform Proposal
One main issue raised by presidential hopefuls revolves around campaign money received by
candidates, donated by multi million dollar corporations. Although it remains illegal for these
corporations to directly donate large sums of money to political campaigns and political parties, the
fear that political and judicial figures in the American political systems are being bought out by these
affluent corporations still worries an inordinate amount of people in the United States. In 2009, the
Supreme Court ruled in Citizens United v. FEC whether these wealthy companies had the
constitutional right to air advertisements they paid for using company expenditures. Similar to
Supreme Court cases within the past half century, the case suggests that ... Show more content on

However, it is not money they seek; rather favors and special privileges earned by donating the
supplies and monetary funds necessary for the candidate to win. Albeit to some, these favors may be
menial, but to others, it could mean permission to adjourn laws that may pertain to them. A
corporation, for instance, may have inspectors and officials turn a blind eye to human and workers
rights violations. Likewise, similar campaign finance proposals began to start limiting the regulation
of campaign financing, however, the next notable campaign act Congress enacted did not happen until
the latter portion of the 20th century.
Before 1971, political figures still had leeway in the financing of their campaigns. However, Congress
tightened down on campaign financing, and began to restrict the permissible activities candidates
could expedite in, beginning in 1971. The first component of the bill demanded that all candidates
running to fully disclose their full campaign finance report (Appendix 4). Before this, candidates
could, for the most part, receive and spend contributed campaign money any way they seemed fit for
the success of their campaigns, though previous acts had heightened the stipulations of this money.
Furthermore, this act enacted restrictions on the permissible amounts of money candidates could
spend on advertisements (appendix 4). Although advertisements had not

By way of most magazine ads, this ad for Glassex window cleaner checks all of the right boxes. It is
eye catching, visually interesting, clever, effective, and gets its point across.Overall, it is a very strong
piece that the designer took time and effort to plan and create. However, there is much more to this
simple concept than meets the eye. By taking a closer look at this magazine ad, new meaning and
metaphors can be found in this image that both directly and indirectly connect to the original objective
of the piece. At first glance, the image obviously represents the common motif of a magician and his

I associate magicians with the magician that was employed at the restaurant my family frequented
when I was a child, and I was always delighted when he would show us his magic tricks and make us
balloon animals. For me, this ad exemplifies the more positive reaction to magic and mystery and
reminds me of a time filled with wonder. However, I resent the idea of using a woman as a prop in this
piece, as it only furthers the objectification of women that I have always disapproved of. The common
motif of a young, attractive woman acting as a magician s assistant is used in this ad to entice viewers
to buy this product, as it has been proven by many ads in the past that beautiful people can often sell
themselves and their products much better than those who are not. Viewers of this piece who feel the
same way about the unsavory use of women in the media may believe that the makers of Glassex
products condone the treatment of women in this way after viewing this ad, discouraging them from
purchasing their window cleaner under the pretense that they do not want to support businesses that
capitalize on the objectification of women. It is also important to note that the male figure in the ad is
not attractive himself, furthering the double standard that women are only used as sexual objects to
sell products in advertisement and men can escape that objective. Men are not expected to be
attractive nor are they faulted for it, and the effectiveness of the ad as a whole may be put in question

16. The Need for Groundwater Extraction Regulation
Groundwater is used primarily for irrigating farmland; and secondarily, for consumption and industrial
use. Aquifers, unconsolidated subterranean layers which hold water, are rapidly dwindling, and
groundwater depletion is quickly growing to become a major problem for farmers and the public at
large. Reserves close to ground level are rapidly drying up and due to technological roadblocks,
extracting water from deeper reserves is not yet financially feasible. The problem is especially severe
in California, which represents around 20% of all groundwater withdrawal in the United States
(Famiglietti, LA Times). A lack of water for agriculture would directly lead to diminished food
production and indirectly lead to requiring food imports from outside the state. Groundwater resources
are an unregulated public resource and despite any innovative breakthrough in extraction techniques,
the only sustainable, long term solution is to enforce limits on extraction. Regulation of how much
groundwater can be extracted from an aquifer in a set period of time; along with incentives to obtain
water from alternative sources is the ideal solution to address the perennially growing challenge of
groundwater depletion in California.
This regulatory effort must begin in politics but it needs to spread to society as well only when people
realize the consequences of over extraction will they even consider ceasing doing so. This solution is
not based primarily in science and technology, and is

Analysis of Daddy by Sylvia Plath
Sylvia Plath uses her poem, Daddy, to express deep emotions toward her father s life and death. With
passionate articulation, she verbally turns over her feelings of rage, abandonment, confusion and grief.
Though this work is fraught with ambiguity, a reader can infer Plath s basic story. Her father was
apparently a Nazi soldier killed in World War II while she was young. Her statements about not
knowing even remotely where he was while he was in battle, the only photograph she has left of him
and how she chose to marry a man that reminded her of him elude to her grief in losing her father and
missing his presence. She also expresses a dark anger toward him for his political views and actions ...

She also presents a slight rhythm to the reading that allows for smooth reading. In keeping with her
open form, there is no set scheme to the rhyme pattern. However, there is a single ending sound
constantly repeated without a set pattern throughout the work. She also connects pairs of lines at
random just for the sake of making connections to make that particular stanza flow. At the same time,
she chose blatantly not to rhyme in certain parts to catch the reader s attention.
There are a few instances where imagery is used to carry out Plath s expression. To cite a particular
example that might lead a reader deduce their own ideas can be found in the last stanza: And the
villagers never liked you. / They are dancing and stamping on you. This undoubtedly expresses her
father s death and burial but more importantly it states a certain humiliation she faced from everyone
knowing what her father had died for, along with her own rage toward him. Another can be found in
lines 24 25: I never could talk to you. / The tongue stuck in my jaw. The picture of someone being
tongue tied along with her statement in line 41: I have always been scared of you, demonstrate just
that; she was fearful of her father. She also gives an image that provides the reader a view of how
Plath physically viewed her father and chose a man that she states reminds her of him: A man in black
with a Meinkampf look.

The origin of CTX M type β lactamases was very different from that of TEM or SHV type β
lactamases (Bonnet, 2004).These enzymes show only 40% resemblance to two most common ESBLs,
TEM and SHV. Each CTX M cluster has been correlated to the chromosomal bla genes present in
different Kluyvera species, that normally form human intestinal normal flora at low counts. It is also
considered as an opportunistic pathogen occasionally associated with infections of urinary tract and
skin in humans [Farmer et al, 1981; Sarriaetal, 2001]. It also exists in the environment as a free living
organism in water, soil, sewage and animal food. Chromosomal bla gene, kluC, present in Kluyvera

21. Essay about Japanese Malaise
THE IMPACT OF SUPPLY SIDE FACTORS ON JAPANESE ECONOMIC STAGNATION Japan s
ongoing economic stagnation for decades has provoked wider debate in the US. Along with the raise
in unemployment rate and weak industrial production relative to other major industrial countries, the
economic malaise in Japan was described as a lost decade. Studies have shown that Japanese economy
suffers of severe problems that are not only cyclical but also structural in nature. In this paper, I will
shed light on the major cause of the prolonged slowdown of the Japanese economy by analyzing the
impact of supply side factors, including the decline in total factor productivity (TFP) and Japan s
aging population. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the 1970s 1980s, total fertility rate in Japan fell below replacement levels, resulting in young labor
shortage. Of the sharp slowdown in real GDP growth since the early 1990s, half is contributed by a
drop in labor input. Between 1983 1991 and 1991 1998, the Japan Industrial Productivity (JIP)
Database reports that Japan s real GDP declines 2.69 percentage points. Fukao, Inui, Kawai,
Miyagawa (2004) demonstrate that the combined effect of 0.79 and 0.25 percentage point slowdowns
in growth of working age population and in labor quality have reduced Japan s balanced growth rate
by 1.04 percentage points. In hopes of placing Japanese economy back on a stable growth path, my
suggestion is to make adjustments that affect job securities among employees, increasing economic
certainties among married Japanese couples and stimulating their fertility decisions. In addition,
women at their reproductive age should be supported in taking childcare leaves. Substituting labor
saving technology and better utilizing older workers are possible ways of coping with Japan s labor
shortage. To revive the economic growth, regulatory changes allow banks to classify restructured

22. Classroom Reflection
At Rolling Green, many areas are used for gym classes now. The temperature recently just rose to the
mid 60s. Before the temperature rose, students would participate outside on the schools tennis court,
around the baseball diamond, and sometimes the old soccer field. Now, students are participating in
the small gym towards the middle of the school building. This helps make it easier for students who
didn t dress for the cold weather stay warm. As well as not fully protecting students, but avoiding
possibility for children to get sick due to extreme climate change. In this reflection, I will give a brief
description of the physical arrangements in the physical education classroom inside. I will then give a
description of routines and procedures. Next, I will talk about one of the instructors grouping
strategies and activities that stuck out to me the most. Finally, I will speak about one change I would
make, and why I would make that change.
To begin with, the inside physical education classroom is extremely small. Normally there will be two
classes in the room at one time, which leads to the instructors dividing the room up with the middle
door. When the gym is divided, the left side just has a stage and volleyball nets taking up a small
percentage of space. On the other side of the divided room, there are chairs, volleyball polls, and
tumbling mats cluttering the rooms space. Normally the Instructor will try to move extra items out of
the way as much as possible. If students have to run, then the items are moved to the four furthest
corners of that side of the room. Other times the extra items will be placed in the instructors personal
office, or even the equipment storage room. On both sides of the gym, there are posters all over the
walls to motivate the students to be healthy, happy and enjoy life t the fullest. There are also some
pictures of students with their instructors, and more photos of students in uniforms for certain sports.
A daily routine for all of my instructors students, would be to come in the classroom and stand in
order by their last name. The instructor has already made groups for the students, there are normally 4,
but no more than 5 students to each row. After the students get into

During the Three Good Things project, I found that I still experienced the normal up and downs that

Research: Hereditary Conditions and Deformities
Out of all the different hereditary conditions and deformities that one can have, I chose to talk about
anemia. Anemia is a condition that develops when your body lacks red blood cells or hemoglobin in
the blood. This is very serious because in your body, the red blood cells are there to transport oxygen
to your organs. When you lack the red blood cells, you are losing oxygen. Anemia will affect everyone
differently. There are more than 400 types of anemia that one person may obtain. The different signs
of anemia may vary depending on your type of anemia. Symptoms to look for include being dizzy,

But, there are some that we could try to stay away from like iron deficiency anemia and vitamin
deficiency anemia. These two types can be avoided by taking vitamins and nutrients that contain iron,
folate, vitamin B12, and vitamin C. If you may have concerns about the vitamins and nutrients you are
receiving from your foods, ask your doctor about a multivitamin that can help out with decreasing
your chances at getting anemia. There are different treatments for the different types of anemia. With
the form of Iron deficiency anemia (mild case), the treatment will be to just take more iron. If there is
major bleeding, the source of the bleeding must be located and stopped from doing any further
damage. This treatment will include surgery. The type of anemia called aplastic anemia is treated by
doing blood transfusions to raise your blood cell levels. Each type of anemia is different, and not
every single type of anemia can have a treatment. If the cause of anemia is another disease, the doctors
will focus more on trying to treat the other disease which could possibly stop the anemia. Anemia isn t
something that is easy for others. It will affect their everyday life. A way that we can try to make these
people feel better is by doing only what they can handle with them. It will take off a lot of stress on

Case Study on the Apple Lawsuit against Samsung:
Intellectual property is defined as a work or invention that is the result of creativity, such as a
document or a design, to which one has rights and for which one may apply for a
patent/copyright/trademark.
Apple has succeeded in winning a lawsuit against Samsung. This patent war between the two leading
smart phone companies, ended up in Samsung having to pay apple more than $1bn in damages. This is
a result of Samsung having supposedly infringed some of the iPhone and iPad maker s patents. This
case wanted eight of Samsungs smart phones to be banned from the market. Some intellectual rights

Samsungs steady increase of market share, would takeover Apple in the long term, and so by filing
such a lawsuit, Apple would put a halt to this.
Mysteriously, the question of Is it possible for Apple and Samsung to work hand in hand? arises. To
begin with, these two companies have been enemies for a long period of time. Apple has always been
looking for ways to trap Samsung, and Samsung has been trying to create better technology then
Apple. These two companies, especially Apple seem to have extreme hatred going on between them. It
can be seen that they closely watch each other s steps looking for gaps and mistakes to complain
about. These two companies are some of the top Smartphone companies, contributing in fierce
competition, each hurrying to bring out the latest technology. In addition, Apple has filed another
lawsuit after the current one, showing a fierce battle. This could conclude that there is no way that
these two companies can be seen working together, as both of them want to be winners. But if these
two companies were to walk together hand in hand, one of them would have to give in to the other. As
Apple has won the patent lawsuit, Samsung could not only pay the damages caused, but they could
bring in a settlement of shared profits. This is where Samsung would still be allowed to sell its
technology, and Apple would own the intellectual property rights. Samsung could either pay a
monthly fee to Apple for using the patent, or Apple would

Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness...(Holy Bible). God intentionally placed his own

31. Theories Of Experiential Learning Theory
Meanwhile, the Theory of Experiential Learning Cycle by David Kolb (Kolb, 1984) is also relevant to
this study. Experiential Learning Theory (ELT) defines learning as the process whereby knowledge is
created through the transformation of experience . Knowledge is a product from the combination of
both grasping and transforming experience. According to him the Experiential Learning Theory model
portrays two dialectically related modes of grasping experience; Concrete Experience and Abstract
Conceptualization, and two dialectically relevant modes of transforming experience; Reflective
Observation and Active Experimentation. Experiential learning is a process of formulating knowledge
that involves a creative tension between the four learning modes that is responsive to contextual

These modes are only responsive to certain contexts. Thus, the learning process is portrayed as a
learning cycle where the learner assumes each of the four domains; experiencing, reflecting, thinking,
and acting (Kolb Kolb, 2005). The recursive process is responsive to each other; the learner, learning
experience, and on the content learned. Immediate or concrete experiences are the impetus for
observations and reflections. Without these learning would be impossible even at the very beginning.
Later on, reflections then can be assimilated in the old experience and deduced it into abstract
concepts from which new implications for action are drawn. These new implications are then used for
active experimentation, which leads to new concrete experiences (Kolb Kolb, 2005). With the
production of new concrete experiences it already leads us into a complete cycle of learning under

The president can make decisions regarding, Executive agreement or trade agreement as long as they
are beneath treaty level with senate confirmation (Welch et al. 335). Even though the president has his
own power on hand, Congress still needs to check to see whether the president faithfully performs his
bills (Welch et al. 335). As a result, the president s treaties take effect only if they are passed by two
thirds of the Senate... (Welch et al. 335). Furthermore, veto power is another way to effect the
lawmaking of the president, but the only exception is that two thirds of each house can cancel the

power because president who use the veto too often may appear isolated or uncooperative or may

so important to check and control whether the President practices making foreign policy appropriately.
Second, Congress should continue to assert its own role to oversee the president s work in controlling

example, the government cannot work without a budget; therefore, the Constitution gave Congress the

The early middle ages in Europe were characterized by conflict. Vikings, Eastern tribes, and Muslim

threats after emperor charlemagne. Powerful nobles independently controlled their own land, in which
they usually were servile to their emperor. Feudalism then became the main political, social, and
economic organization of medieval Europe. Serfs worked as primarily farms but could be called to the

Phillp Morris was also presumably worried about the aggressive price cuts and promotions by RJR to
increase its market share.
Goals of Philip Morris Strategy
Philip Morris needed a aggressive competitive response to tacklethe threats of: declining market share,
increasing share of discount brands, regulation, and RJR s promotions and price cuts. They decided to
aggressively attack the existing discount brands and make the Philip Morris brand significantly more
price competitive.
Philip Morris effectively cut price by 20%, creating 2 tiers of cigarette pricing (from 3 tiers before).
Their premium products were now significantly more competitive, compared with the discount brands
due to their reduced price and existing strong brand image. Philip Morris were betting that a large
portion of consumers would compare their premium product as price competitive with the discount
brands, and would chose Marlboro due to its superior brand image and comparable prices. They
essentially wanted to win the pricing game and lead with their brand. Surprisingly, they slightly
increased the price of their discount brand by a mere 6 cents. This was probably to restrict the range in
which the pricing war could be played by other players.

The long call of the Borneo male is long and drawn out where as the Sumatran is much shorter and
has a faster tempo. The difference may be attributed to the larger throat pouch the
Borneo has. The reason for the different calls is unclear. They may be related to the terrain each
subspecies inhabits. The faster call of the Sumatran may be more effective in the rugged, mountainous
terrain. The longer call of the
Borneo may be due to the wide distribution of this race. A large portion of an orangutans day is spent
looking for and consuming food. Their diet primarily consists of fruit but they also eat leaves, bark,
flowers, insects, and birds eggs. One of their preferred foods is the fruit off of the durian tree, it is
supposed to taste like sweet garlic. After they have finished eating and bedtime comes around the
orangutans build themselves a new nest forty to fifty feet up in a tree made of boughs. Like the other
great apes (chimpanzees and gorillas), orangutans are highly intelligent. Tests have indicated that their
intelligence is relatively similar. Wild orangutans use their intelligence to solve problems usually
related to arboreal living and food gathering. In captivity, however, they have been trained to perform

42. Suicide -A Serious Issue
Suicide is a serious issue although not uncommon. Suicide can be thought of or actually done because
of different problems such as money issues, depression, or feeling alone like there is no way out.
Suicide is often thought as an easy solution, people see it as the end. Although that s even if they
succeed at it, they don t stop and think what if they fail and how they can permanently injure
themselves. Some people think that others claim they might do it to receive attention, which is
probably true but only very few times. Either way it is not worth risking. According to the centers for
disease control and prevention suicide is the eleventh cause of death among Americans overall, it is
the third leading cause of death among young people in the U.S. Young people have a tendency of
thinking if something goes wrong it s the end of the world. One of the main causes of suicide is
money. Although some people believe money is the key to happiness that is not true. In refrance to our
text book De Botton, We can regard our life as a uselessly disturbing episode in the blissful repose of
nothingness. Human existence must be a kind of error. It may be said of it, it is bad today and
everyday it will get worst, until the worst of all happends. This was said by philosophers
Schopenhauer s father. Schopenhauer s father was believed to have committed suicide, although he
was a wealthy man. Schopenhauer s father made sure to leave a fortune for his seventeen year old
soon, to

43. Always To Remember Maya Lin Analysis
Maya Lin s design really impressed the judges. Her design had many reasons why it became the
winner design. The design was perfect for the criteria needed. The model had the judges were in awe
of the design for many reasons. The design entered by Maya Lin greatly impressed the judges. One
reason why it impressed them so much was the design itself. The model had a form that fit the scene
perfectly in the Mall. In the essay, Always to Remember: The Vision of Maya Ying Lin, by Brent
Ashabranner, states, It is uniquely horizontal, entering the earth rather than piercing the sky. Another
piece of evidence is when the essay states, The designer has created an eloquent place where the
simple meeting of earth, sky and remembered names contain messages for all who will know this
place. These two pieces of evidence explain that the judges were fascinated by how the design was
made its self. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The essay also states one of the model s criteria. It states, A design which would be harmonious with
its site, including visual harmony with the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument. This
states that the entry has reached this criteria and the judges felt that was one of the strong points of the
design. The essay also states, This memorial, with its wall of names, becomes a place of quiet
reflection, and a tribute to those who served their nation in difficult times. All who come her can find
it a place of healing. This will be a quiet memorial, one that achieves an excellent relationship with
both the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington monument, and relates the visitor to them. This quote
is saying that the entry was peaceful and one of the main points that the judges found important
because it was in the concluding

44. Acid Base Status Essay
Discuss how changes in acid base status of a patient can arise and the mechanisms available in the
body to rectify these.
In the body, blood has many different roles. However, one of its main functions is to maintain the
balance between acidity and alkalinity.
Blood acidity increases when the level of acidic compounds in the body rise, or when the level of
alkaline compounds in the body fall. The bodies balance between acidity and alkalinity is known as
the acid base balance .
The blood s acid base balance is precisely controlled because even a minor deviation from the normal
range can severely affect many organs. The body uses different mechanisms to control the blood s acid
base balance.
Effective management of the acid base balance in patients can be a very challenging task. It relies on
an accurate diagnosis of which disorder is specifically affecting the patient. ... Show more content on

Acidosis can cause the thyroid hormone to be depressed, this could affect the energy metabolism and
cell function in the body. (Davies, Carter and Wells, 2004).

My first time been Las Vegas was on 2013, I was just 21. I lived in MGM Grand in Las Vegas Strip.
MGM Grand is the biggest casino in Strip. I love MGM, it has green windows outside and very huge
lobby inside. The hotels were not expensive because they use the cheap hotel price to attract more
people to gamble in casinos. However, the room was roomy and clean. There were more than six
different restaurants in casinos. I tried international buffet, American Food and Indian food in MGM.
It was really convenient for me; I played the card games few hours, when I felt hungry, I just call
waiter to get some food and drinks. Besides all the gambling games, I watched a magic show from
David Copperfield in MGM. It was amazing that I just spent 90 dollars to sit in the first row to watch
the show. I also went to other casino, which have big shopping mall that I bought a lot of things there.
Moreover, I still remember every time I walked on the Strip, there were many different street arts such
as small magic performance and imitation shows. Crowed street, bright neon light and busy people
were always the major themes in gambling culture and in this city. In conclusion, casino is the most
important form of gambling industry in Las Vegas, and casino is an important city element. In my

49. The Root Cause Of Piracy In Somalia
Many people of Somalia find piracy to be acceptable. The reason being that it is for the good of
others, others meaning them. Piracy had become their way of life. Had other nations reached out to
Somalia, things would have been different. However, the world is harsh and cruel, and many would
rather look after themselves than a stranger. Instead, nations began to trash the land of Somalia. The
people no longer see a point in trying to gain profit through morally correct manners, more so because
their endeavors are fruitless. It began with fishermen who were tired of foreign fishing fleets taking
advantage of the instability in the country, dumping toxic waste and illegally fishing in the Somali
waters. These activities hampered the economic, environmental and health of the country and its

Importance for Organizations to use Project Management to Accomplish Tasks The use of project
management to accomplish any task for an organization is important. On time and at cost, project
managers are valuable assets to an organization. Most of the time a project manager is a project owner.
He or she is responsible for the leadership of the project from inception to completion. The project
manager leads the team and helps negotiate the multiple relationships within any project (Carr, 2010).
Having a project manager within an organization can have many benefits. A project manager can
benefit an organization by identifying responsibilities, reducing the need for unnecessary reports,
measuring the accomplishments against plans, and knowing when all objectives will be met or
exceeded (Krezner, 2006). Conclusion The traditional approach to project management is to identify
where he or she is right now, and what he or she is trying to accomplish, and the steps needed to take
to arrive where he or she wants to be. Project management is the process of activities or tasks that lead
to the successful completion of a project. Carrying out a simple project that involves two or three
individuals or one that involves a mix of individuals, tasks, and organizations is a big difference. If an
individual has an unlimited amount of money and time, project
