How Did Cornelius Vanderbilt Impact On America
Law! What do I care about the law? Ain t I got power? . When Cornelius said this he meant that he
could pretty much be meant that he was so rich he could overrule the authority. Cornelius Commodore
Vanderbilt was one one of the first tycoons ever. Cornelius ended up being one of the richest people in
the world of his modern era. When Cornelius died, he was worth 100 million dollars. Cornelius made
a huge social impact by making the track gauge, laying train track rails all around the USA and was
one the first people to make monopolies. Cornelius Commodore Vanderbilt was born on May 17,
1984, in Port Richmond, Staten Island, New York, U.S. Cornelius quit school at 11 and started to work
at a waterfront. In 1810 his parents gave him 100 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The track gauge is a machine that measured the distance between each railroad track. Cornelius
ordered that all the railroads would be replaced with steel instead of iron. He did this for the fact that
steel was more durable and lighter than iron. Cornelius would soon be one of the richest people ever.
Cornelius would the first person to create a monopoly. Cornelius later bought so much railroad stock
that he pretty much owned it. An impact the Commodore on our society was that he laid railroad
tracks wherever he could put them. He acquired the Hudson river railroad and the new york central
railroad in 1869. Later he got the Michigan road and Harlem railroad in 1873. Vanderbilt was then the
first person to offer rail service from New York City to Michigan. Later the commodore made the
track gauge. Cornelius was the first person to create a monopoly. A monopoly was a system where he
could control the aspects of production of certain products. Cornelius inherited one of his traits from
his mother, he spent less than what he earned then saving and investing the difference. Cornelius lived
below his means and took care of his health which helped him build his fortune. Cornelius died as one

Lust In Romeo And Juliet
In one of the most highly renown love tragedies written in history, Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet
explains the highly debated notion of love at first sight through the relationship between the two star
crossed lovers , Romeo and Juliet. Though many can argue that this relationship between the two is
only for lust, it is clearly shown in the play that the family rivaled couple is truly in love. Through
Juliet s decisiveness and maturity, Juliet shows that her relationship with Romeo is not about lust, but
about true love. First, Juliet experiences her first moment of true love when she meets Romeo at the
Capulet Masquerade. In the beginning of the play, Juliet is seen as a young, inexperienced teenager
not ready for love. As she meets

Genetic Screening and Physiological Testing in Young Athletes
I was stretching when I heard an overenthusiastic mother gloating on behalf of her daughter stating
that her daughter was smart and capable of becoming an elite figure skater when one coach explained,
She doesn t have the right body. Followed by the unmistakable whimpering of a little girl crying and
an arguing parent, it was clear the little girl did not meet the standard of flexibility and body
composition to reach the upper echelon of figure skating that her mother expected and she wanted.
Flexibility is a necessity in figure skating in order to execute technique well, while a low percentage
of body fat is important for aerobic power and jump height (Winter et al. 317). Angrily storming out,
the mother made it clear to the coach that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These tests will also increase competition making for more exciting spectator sports, and benefit the
United States by maintaining its international competitiveness and top Olympic rank.
It would be beneficial for individual athletes to use talent identification and search programs designed
to scout young athletes for future Olympics. Athletes put a tremendous amount of hours and years into
their specific sport in hopes of reaching high levels of competition one day, such as the Olympics. By
implementing a mode of genetic testing and testing physiological traits, it would remove the factor of
chance and give a more accurate reading of athletes likeliness to reach their goals. In addition, these
measures will save time by allowing the children to get involved in activities that fit them early on,
ultimately saving money as well. A mother, Donna Campiglia, replied eagerly to the idea of genetic
testing explaining that it would also save parental frustration (Macur). Some may argue that seeking
traits in a young child would ruin the factor of enjoyment in the sport, but if the child shows success in
the sport, there would be a higher chance of them enjoying what they do (Epstein). The benefits of
making these tests more available can be life changing for

SIMILARITIES AND DIFFERENCES BETWEEN SELETAL, CARDIAC, AND SMOOTH
MUSCLE:
Skeletal Muscle Structure: skeletal muscles cells are like long fiber structures, That contain many
nuclei and are subdivided into smaller structures that are called myofibrils . The Myofibrils are created
of two kinds of myofilaments . Thin filaments are made of two strands of the protein actin and one
strand of a regulatory protein coiled with each other. Thick filaments are staggered arrays of myosin
molecules . * Organization Units of skeletal muscle. Filaments are organized into structures called the
sarcomeres . Sarcomeres are created in the following manners: * The Z lines are at the border of the
sarcomere . They align in adjacent myofibrils . *The I bands are areas that are near the edges of the
sarcomere containing only thin filament. * The A bands are regions where thick and thin filaments
overlap each other and correspond to the length of the thick filament.* The H zones are the areas in
the center of the A bands containing only thick filament. In vertebrates Cardiac Muscles: are only
found in the heart. Muscles cells are branched, and the junctions between the cells contain intercalated
discs that electrically connect all heart muscle cells with each other, allowing the co ordinated actions.
These cells can also create their own action potentials. In Smooth Muscles: There are no striations and
contain less myosin; the myosin is not associated with specific actin strand.

The Effects Of Zika Virus Spreads Through Bites From...
The primary means by which the Zika virus spreads is through bites from infected mosquitoes of
which the Aedes mosquito is known to be the primary carrier (Center for Disease Control, 2016).
These mosquitos are active at night but are most prominent during the daytime. This is not, however,
the only means of transmission. An infected person may pass the virus on from mother to child, during
sexual contact, or during a blood transfusion. The transmission from mother to child is of serious
concern since the virus has been linked to microcephaly, a birth defect showcased by a smaller head
when compared to other babies (CDC, 2016). This is a sign that the brain has stopped growing. Once a
person is infected they will may experience a combination of fever, headache, rash, joint pain, and
conjunctivitis. The symptoms will usually remain for a period of two to seven days. Fortunately, the
number of fatalities caused by the virus has remained limited so far. Of those persons who survive
after becoming infected with the virus it is believed that they will have a type of immunity that will
prevent another infection from occurring (World Health Organization, 2016).
Although this disease has just recently come into the headlines worldwide, because of its prevalence
in Brazil with the upcoming Olympics, it was actually first discovered in the Zika Forest of Uganda in
1947 in monkeys. The first human case was not reported until 1952 (WHO, 2016). As a part of its

Minimum Wage Wars
Minimum Wage Wars In 2015, the Illinois minimum wage is $8.25 an hour (Schreiber and Young).
There are people in Illinois who want to raise the minimum wage to $15. The current debate for the
increase in minimum wage is that, by increasing the minimum wage, cost of living will be easier to
pay for, poverty levels will decrease, and produce income equality. This notion sounds like a good
idea initially; however, what will the repercussions of raising the minimum wage most likely look
like? Increasing the minimum wage will probably have the opposite effect of what is intended by its
supporters. A $15 raise in minimum wage may result in job loss. A 2006 review of more than 100
minimum wage studies by David Neumark and William Wascher found

Positive Changes In The Progressive Era
As the world came into a new century, United States flew to a new era. No longer were Americans
willing to huddle in the shadows of their rich neighbors, no longer were they willing to be used as
cheap labor, and no longer were they willing to stay quiet. The Progressive Era hit United States with
full force, screeching to halt corruption and sexist discrimination. However, as one part of Americans
experienced positive change the other part was discriminated against. The Progressive Movement
changed America extensively, yet that change was not positive for all.
A central issue of the Progressive Movement was political corruption. For many years Political
Machines plagued urban areas, bribing immigrants for votes in exchange for jobs. Moreover,
government positions were awarded for political affiliation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

During the early 1900 s many progressives were females looking to legacy of positive change. A large
reform movement that women were involved in was the Settlement House movement. Popularized by
Jane Addams and Ellen Gates Starr who opened the Hull House, Settlement Houses boarded middle
class workers (many females) that would live in between urban slums to help out the poor though
medical knowledge and the sharing of education. These types of reforms not only helped the poor and
unfortunate, but also granted females more power. Female organizations, like the National American
Woman Suffrage Association, grew in size, and females were able to transform their traditional social
roles into public and political roles. Through these types of reforms, women were able to obtain
broader support for female suffrage, and in 1920 the 19th amendment was adopted prohibiting the
government from denying U.S. citizens the right to vote based on gender. While the Progressive Era

“The Police Who Killed Walter Scott And Laquan Mcdonald
The police who killed Walter Scott and Laquan McDonald now face criminal charges largely due to
video cameras that captured the shootings. (No Tape, No Testimony) Police body cameras are used in
some police departments as a way to record any interaction between an officer and a citizen. Some
Americans today seem to think that police body cameras interfere with their right to privacy, because
they record sensitive situations. Other Americans believe that the cameras serve as evidence in case
something doesn t go as planned. Police body cameras should be used nationwide because they

Luckily, Police body cameras prevent those situations from happening. They capture the entire
interaction to keep things fair. With today s advanced technology, police body cameras have proven to
be very useful. They are crucial in putting an end to unnecessary police misconduct. In 2012, the
Rialto Police Department in California implemented police body cameras and recorded the outcome.
The results showed that the number of complaints filed against officers fell by 88 percent compared
with the previous 12 months. Use of force by officers fell by almost 60 percent over the same period
(Lovett). Without a doubt, police body cameras do the trick to prevent potentially dangerous situations
from occurring. As William A. Farrar, the Rialto police chief once stated, When you put a camera on a
police officer, they tend to behave a little better, follow the rules a little better. And if a citizen knows
the officer is wearing a camera, chances are the citizen will behave a little better. I strongly agree with
this statement because if the interaction between the officer and the citizen is being recorded, neither
of the two will want to behave badly. The citizen knows that their bad behavior could result in
consequences and the officer knows that their misconduct could result in punishment or even the loss
of their job. The cameras record every detail that can be looked back on if there was a complaint filed
against the officer that was wearing it. Clearly, police body

victims and offenders and to reinforce the growth and development of the criminal justice system. It
will also evaluate the dark figure of crime, the role of victims in the criminal justice system, the
positive and negative outcomes and why are victims as important in the criminal justice system.
According to Muncie (2001) crime is increasing to be a continuous source of community concern.

rioting, children out of control, new forms of terrorism, vandalism and growth in all manner of anti

This puts into doubt the efficiency and effectiveness of the official crimes statistics. Crimes are
unreported for various reasons; some of the reasons why committed towards certain minority groups
are unreported is because of the distrust and faith in the police force, language barriers and fear of
repercussions from the offender. Certain minority groups include, ethnic people, people with
disability, woman, youth, homeless and indigenous. The Crime Victim Survey s uncovers the Dark
Figure of crime and victimisation, it acknowledges the victim and it also explains about the limitations
and strengths of recording and reporting crimes. For a crime to be recorded there are three stages that
must be delivered. The first is that a person must identify that a crime has been committed, the
offender who is committing the crime must been seen by another person. Secondly, the police or
others to whom the crime has been reported must accept that the action has been done against the law,
or that law has been broken in the act. Thirdly, the crime must be reported to the relevant authorities
either by the one who has observed the crime being committed or the person who committed it. If one
fails then the crime is unrecognized, although other members of the public may have noticed or heard
about a crime and could be

Spartan Politics
Sparta had a Political organisation unlike many other Greek states at that time that drew upon
elements of all types of Government structures. The Spartan constitution contained elements of
monarchy, oligarchy and democracy and was described by ancient writers as a mixed constitution. The
four elements were made by the two kings (monarchical), Gerousia (oligarchic), the Five Ephors
(limited Democratic) and the Ekklesia (democratic). This system all came about from the work of the
law giver named Lycurgus who is acclaimed to have received the Rhetra from the Delphic Oracle and
impose it upon Sparta, However even his existence is under debate between historians past and
present such as Xenophon and Plutarch.

Although the kings were the supreme commanders of the armies the Ephors had control over many
aspects that would have undermined the Kings authorities. The Kings were not able to declare war
unless the Ephors had issued orders for mobilizing the Spartan army according to Xenophon. They
also had the power to direct generals to particular campaigns and constantly acted as overseers always
having two Ephors accompany the King into battle. They were responsible for the education of the
Spartan youth and maintaining discipline throughout the community this was achieved through there
power to be able to fine people on the spot for many things including even being lazy. Their jobs also
entitled them to join the Gerousia in conducting criminal trials and were privileged even more in being
the only magistrates to be able to hold a civil trial. They also controlled the Krypteia and state
finances. According to Aristotle among all the duties two chair the meetings for both the Gerousia and
Ekklesia which would have given them considerate power over the other governmental systems.
Aristotle claims that the Ephors were not a perfect government system and had flaws because even
poor men could be elected, this made some open to bribery, but this was mitigated by limitation of
membership to a year.

Industrialization had revolutionized the newspaper industry allowing machines to print thousands of
papers in a night, providing publishers with the ability to provide more newspapers (Campbell 2001).
Hearst and Pulitzer found attention grabbing, sensational headlines sold more papers. This began the
brand of reporting known as yellow journalism. These publishers were credited with starting the
Spanish American War due to their exaggeration and inflammatory headlines (Campbell 2001).
Although, yellow journalism became the term for this practice of sensationalism and sometimes
outright lies, yellow journalism was derived from a cartoon strip called the Yellow Kid (see picture 1).
First published in Pulitzer s New York World it then moved to Hearst s New York Journal. Critic s
coined the phrase yellow journalism to describe the special non smear yellow ink and the significance
of the comic strip (Yellow Journalism 2005)
Yellow journalism was characterized not only by its exaggeration but its layout. Multi column

qualities inherent to yellow journalism (Campbell 2001).

Compare The Relationship Between William Wordsworth And I...
From my reading of both the Grasmere Journals written by Dorothy Wordsworth and also the poem I
wandered lonely as a cloud written by William Wordsworth, I believe that there is a strong
relationship between the two. I think that both William and his sister Dorothy experienced the same
relationship with the Daffodil s they saw. The only difference is that William expressed his experience
through poetry while Dorothy expressed hers through diary entries. From the evidence we have with
the dates of when both were written, I believe William wrote his poem based on Dorothy s journals. I
would be of the opinion that Dorothy s journals were written from her experience alone while
Williams s poem was written under the influence of Dorothy s Grasmere ... Show more content on

Much of Dorothy s diary entries include reflective moments in her life. As Sara Crangle said [T]here
is much of this solitary, reflective image that can be transposed to the larger depiction of Wordsworth s
life. Dorothy s journals are mostly written either at the beginning of the day or in the evening. This
time of day is when she is either reflecting on the day gone by or thinking about the day ahead. As she
is often out walking with William or Coleridge it is probable that she is reflecting on these events
quite a lot. On May 14th she writes I sate a long time upon a stone at the margin of the lake, and after

Similarities And Differences Of The Egyptian, Zhou...
Midterm I INTRODUCTION In historic times, multiple Societies of people living and collaborating
together in a community is what led to the formation of many Empires. Empires were comprised of
similar groups of people that were most often geographically located within close proximities. It is
interesting to compare and contrast three societies which became Empires: the Egyptian, Zhou
Chinese, and Persian. Each Empire is responsible for contributing to a foundational advancement that
has been used in future generations. I will compare the similarities and contrasts of each and explain
why I believe the Persian Empire was the most successful Empire. I will start by addressing the
primary similarities, which are that each Empire was responsible for innovating and creating things in
the following areas of: mathematics, architecture, and philosophy. In contrast, the differences that
existed were due to each Empire creating advancements and developments as a need from their
respective demography, which means their environment and surroundings dictated the areas they
excelled and innovated the most in. After researching these, I deemed the most successful Empire to
be the one in which created the most widely used things throughout the entire world, and that are still
in use today. Also, I determined the most important determining factor of an Empire being successful
was if it had an acceptable democratic and equal societal philosophy. Thus, I found all these successful

What Is The Theme Of The Snow Child By Angela Carter
3. Angela Carter s The Snow Child
In The Snow Child , Angela Carter criticizes gender roles as well as the result of when we can finally
fulfill a desire and this is conveyed in a very interesting way. Angela Carter does not simply rewrite
the story of Snow White but rather represents the objectification of the female gender, even in a
premature age. This story belongs to the post modern literary era, which is known for deconstructing
things, going deep to the core, criticizing and pointing things out. All those things can be found in this
story, not only as a post modern feature but also as a feminist feature. The tales in [The Bloody

Who Is Pierre Auguste Renoir La Promenade
Although La Promenade was not the title given to this painting by Renoir, this painting is partially a
tribute to previous artists whom Renoir tremendously esteemed. Pierre Auguste Renoir was born on
February 25, 1841 in France. Renoir lived during the Impressionist movement, which was a French art
movement from the 1850 s till around 1900. He studied under a man named Charles Gleyre, who also
taught skillful painters such as Claude Monet, Alfred Sisley, and Frédéric Bazille. Monet, Sisley, and
Bazille would later become some of Renoir s closest friends. Dissimilar to Monet and Sisley, Renoir
always retained a fondness for the studio and for creating classic portraitures in the manner of the

However, the man only has little pieces of sunlight streaming down on him. Dissimilar to the man,
however, the path is well lit and illuminated by sunlight. This leads our attention to the path that the
man enjoins the woman to follow. This playful contrast between well illuminated subjects, and poorly
lit subjects is enhanced further by the shade covering the man s face, and the almost cartoonish
depiction of his face. Renoir acknowledged no rules, and did not set limits on his capability to
extemporize. Renoir s work was a paradox. While he painted scenes that were not generally painted by
fine artists such as himself, he employed oil painting, which was associated with the world of fine art.
From the statements about Renoir that did survive about his personal practices and conduct, it is
sufficiently shown that he resolvedly rejected the idea of yielding to common social standards. The
span of different various social and artistic viewpoints that Renoir embraced affirms his rejection to be
stereotyped. Unfortunately, Pierre Auguste Renoir died on December 3, 1919. He lived to see the post
impressionism era, fauvism and expressionism, cubism, and more. Even when

History Of The Monroe Doctrine Of 1823 Essay
The History of the Monroe Doctrine of 1823
Israel Cordero
Central High School
November 9, 2015
3rd Period Abstract The Monroe Doctrine had a great impact due to its strict policy towards the
European powers. It wanted to keep the U.S. trade safe from European powers and colonization.
Without this important doctrine/document the Europeans would have most likely colonized, interfered
with, and disrupted the western hemisphere and also the trade systems connected with them. The U.S.
also would not be a balanced nation and have a balanced foreign policy without the Monroe Doctrine,
which was also known as the back bone of the U.S. foreign policy.
The History of the Monroe Doctrine of 1823 In this essay I will be explaining to you all on how the
Monroe Doctrine came to be, who the document was authored by and how they gained the inspiration
and where he got his ideas for this document from. I will explain what nations were affected by the
policies of the Doctrine which I will explain in a little bit. I will explain how this document helped the
Mexican President Juarez in successfully revolting against the Emperor Maximillian of the French. I
will also cover how the British affected the document and also how President Roosevelt wanted to
extend the Doctrine with his Roosevelt Corollary.
This document all began with the 5th president of the United States, James Madison. He tried to come

The Common Law System Of England
ntroduction
During the 12th and 13th century, a survey was conducted on tradition, custom and law under the
common law system of England. This survey originally developed as court decisions. In England, the
equity laws are developed after the creation of the common law. The analysis based on development
of justice and is now used in the royal courts. This gives us the story of the 1066 when the England
was attacked and concluded that there is no common law system, but the local court system. It is
called the power of traditional dishes such as Shires and counties. The foundations of the common law
have known in public as customary law. In this assignment, author will describe the development of
the UK system of common Law and Equity. Arguments about judge s role in the development of legal
principles will be made.
The Common Law
During the conquest in 1066, William applied old legal customs in generalizing to the entire kingdom.
It was the origin of the Common Law; the essential characteristic was that it was rooted deeply in
Roman law to be based on the customs and practices from medieval traditions. These customs are still
mainly oral; procedures are carried out by royal courts who judge case leaving significant room for
interpretation. Gradually, the common law is insufficient and ineffective for a number of disputes.
The Equity
Individuals appeal directly to the king, arguing the fairness of their problems. This procedure, called
Equity, developed from the

joking, I had seen them casually looking over houses a few times the past week, but I didn t ever think
they were serious about moving. When, I say after a minute of silence as each one of my brothers and
my sister realizes also, that my parents are serious. I expect my parents to say something like four
months, or finally confess that they were joking, but what I hear come out of their mouth isn t what I
had expected. Two weeks, my mom said. None of the kids had expected that, and immediately we

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Judicial Appointment...
Justice of India, the appointment should be made as a healthy convention. In July 1998, the President
of India asked for the advisory opinion of the Supreme Court on various areas of the judgment of 1993
including the issue of consultation. In October 1998, the Supreme Court in its advisory opinion
confirmed the primacy of the Chief Justice s opinion over that of the President in appointing judges.
The Court, however, observed that the sole, individual opinion of the Chief Justice of India does not
constitute consultation within the meaning of Arts 217 and 222(1) of the Constitution. In appointing
judges to the Supreme Court, the Chief Justice must make a recommendation in consultation with the
four most senior puisne judges of the Supreme Court. In the case of appointments to the High Courts,
the Chief Justice must consult the two most senior puisne judges of the Supreme Court. The views of
the puisne judges should be in writing and should be conveyed to the [President] by the Chief Justice
of India along with his [or her] views . The Supreme Court ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Despite this, in order to maintain public confidence in the appointment system and to ensure judicial
independence the commission system is perhaps a very effective mechanism for judicial appointment.
However, to ensure the effectiveness of this mechanism the commission should be representative in
nature comprising members of the executive, legislature, judiciary, legal profession and lay persons. In
addition, it should be ensured that the commission uses a system which is transparent and open to
public scrutiny. In this regard the composition and working system of the South African Judicial
Service Commission may be an acceptable model. Such a mechanism may be very effective to ensure
the appointment of the best qualified people to judicial

Urbanization During The Industrial Age
The Industrial revolution led to an increase in population in the cities. Many people had been replaced
by the new technology that was beginning. The technology that was being used did the work of the
people but much faster.Farmers did not need that many people working on the farms so they began to
look for other things to do. People moved to these cities to find work and housing because they lost
their jobs on the farms. Urbanization in cities during the Industrial Age had a negative impact on
society, One big negative effect of the Industrial Revolution was the really poor working conditions in
factories that, was a big problem during the Industrial Revolution. The Industrial age was known as
the change from the use of hand method ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Children were picked to work in factories because they were very small, they could fit into spaces that
adults could not. Children were put into horrible work conditions. Kids had to crawl on the floor and
pick up all the garbage around and under the machines. If the kids were not careful enough they could
get really hurt or even die ( Factory Systems ). There were safety hazards including excessive heat in
the factories and injuries were very constant. Equipment and machinery had dangerous parts
exposed, contributing to the number of injuries. Many of the children got hurt when they would get
caught in the machines. The working hours were from twelve to sixteen hours per day with only one
break a day. People lost hearing due to loud noise from the machines. Kids hands would get caught
and the skin and muscles would get ripped down to the bone ( Urbanization During ). A child would
not get any education because of their long working hours. Children were not paid fairly and they
were always doing the dirty work. Workers were paid lower than fifty cents a week and workers were

Self-Moralism And Social Criticism In Jane Addams
Jane Addams wanted the mind of women to be valued and mirrored through the actions of individuals
seeking to use emotions of empathy and feeling of duty rather than self interest. She joined the
growing pool of criticism of Social Darwinism not because of its scientific weaknesses, but rather due
to its center principal of anti morality. She refused to accept its masculine ideals of physical
dominance to serve self interest and its ranking of materialism. Without doubt, one of her most
stringent and remembered points of social criticism was targeted at paternalism. She routinely exposed
the motives behind 19th century philanthropists who attempted to do good to people rather than to do
good with them . Once again, her target of criticism is the male centered way of thinking that was
pertinent in her time, due to the fact that it was overwhelmingly focused on placing oneself ahead of
another person and attempting to force yourself onto them because you feel that your way of handling
the situation is better than those who are experiencing the hardship you are attempting to amend in the
first place. She wanted less of a paternal mindset and more of a maternal one that is categorized by
empathetic collaboration instead of domination. Addams viewed new groups of immigrants as a
welcomed force into urban American society. Her ideology on race, which can be described as
pluralist, was fitting toward a strategy of reform that took aim at socioeconomic conditions that were

Leaning Center Reflection
Journal 1 Dates: the week of 1/16 Location: FBLC Time: None this week Though I was not at the First
Baptist Leaning Center (FBLC) my first week, I ll still write this week s reflection to give you an
overview of that week and the format of my journals. Starting at FBLC was a slow process. This way
primarily due to me being unable to produce a copy of my background check. Overall it turned out to
be a lesson in accessing my resources. The dean s office was a much quicker resource than trying to
pull my records from the CDC. Kristy was helpful, but she just didn t have the means to provide me
with what I needed in the time I needed it. The FBLC director, Jana, was really cool about the whole
thing. It was kind of stressful while I was scrabbling to make things work but in the end it wasn t a big

that public system was not for her. She is strict but still loving, however there seems to be one girl she
is a lot stricter with. Maybe she needs more structure to excel, but just from the outside looking in it
would seem she is a little hard on this girl in particular. Thompson is a very by the books teacher. She
is always informing me what the FBLC policy is and her class is very structured around the rules the
program has in place. This is the first year FBLC has done kindergarten and Thompson is their only

Greek life because their culture believes that their gods have a hand in every aspect of their lives.
The significance of oral tradition and folklore in history is the history behind every folklore they didn t
just wake up one day with the idea they were made throughout time
Oral tradition helped the culture evolve by being told and retold and retold. They were spread and
retold across the village, then spread to the nation and eventually the world.
Oral tradition is important for the growth of a community because it is the fastest way for news to
travel.

an American sport which only attracts the Americans. But why American peoples hate soccer? There
are a lot of debates that goes on regards with football and soccer. Whenever the controversy between

sport with the largest viewer that ever existed. Although these two sports don t really get along, but
they can t avoid sharing each other similarities and differences such as popularity, time and last but not
least, skill. Firstly, popularity is the factor that determined if the sport is good or not. As we all know,
soccer has the wide amount of fans around the world but what is the element that makes this sport so
popular? This question can only be answered with two words World Cup , the word World literally
means global. World Cup is a football tournament which celebrated every four years, a competition

Socrates s View On Plato s The And Aristophanes s The...
Elenchus, as a famous Socratic method for education, uses dialogue and questions to approach
philosophical truths. The method is presented in both Plato s the Euthyphro and Aristophanes s the
Clouds. However, Socrates s personal image and characteristics, as well as the nature of his
questioning differ a lot in these two works. While the Euthyphro presents a philosopher king guiding
the less wise people in discovery of truths, Socrates in the Clouds has little interest in either exploring
the ethical truth or helping others get out of Plato s cave . Instead, he is portrayed as a sophist who
corrupts people with mysterious and useless knowledge, ignores traditional Athenian education, and
debilitates Athenian men. Compared to Plato s focus on Socrates s wisdom reflected in the dialogue,
the Clouds is a distorted interpretation of Socrates s elenchus. Rather than justifiably criticizing
Socrates, Aristophanes depicts him from a common Athenian s perspective. It is this misunderstanding
of the value of Socrates s teaching by Athenian citizens that constitutes the failure of elenchus in both
the Clouds and the Euthyphro.
Socrates s image in the two works differ firstly in his attitude towards knowledge and towards himself.
A typical statement of Socrates, both in the Euthyphro and in other Plato s works, is that he has no
clear knowledge. He is different from the public because he knows that he does not know. Neither
does he claim to teach or corrupt the young (Euthyphro, p.2

The book The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz by Mordecai Richler a novel following the life of
Duddy Kravitz. The protagonist has an ambition for success, but throughout the process he loses all his
relationship with his close ones. Richler wants to demonstrate how crazy one can become when all
they think about is success. He advises that the price can be very high indeed when one seeks success
at any cost. He uses the protagonist to show different transitions he goes through to get where he
wants, which includes being aimless toward life to having a goal he needs to succeed. Simcha, Duddy

My Experience In My Summer
I can not wait to learn new things in your class this year. I am ready to read lots of new books and
some Shakespeare because I have not read a lot of his work before. I had a great summer full of
family, fun, and travel. My summer was not as interesting as your summer Mrs. Cole, but I sure did
have fun. The first trip I went on this summer was to New Orleans, which was pretty Amazing
because I got to walk down the historic streets of the world famous French Quarter. I have not been to
New Orleans since I was 4 years old with my whole family, but this time my parents and I were the
only ones who went. On the first day we went to Café Du Monde, which is an original French market
stand that has been around since 1862. The best part of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Overall Las Vegas was probably the best part of my summer and I am lucky to have an amazing
family to enjoy it with. Other than the two trips I went on this summer, I did not do a lot because my
parents were busy with work and my sister was busy with summer classes. I was busy every morning
for football though because we had to be at Braden River every morning at 7:30. The only good part
about waking up early was that when I was done I still had most of the day to go fishing or do
anything. Workouts really help out at the beginning of the season though because it makes us ready
and strong for the whole season. Besides having football every morning, I went fishing a lot over the
summer in lakes around my neighborhood. I at least caught around 30 bass this summer because I was
mostly fishing this summer when I had nothing else to do. The only boring thing I had to do this
summer was taking drivers ed online, so I am prepared to take my permit test when I turn 15. The
whole summer was filled with fun, but it seemed like it went by very fast. The only reason it probably
went by fast was because time flys when your having fun. With all the fun happening this year my dog
probably had the least amount of fun because while we were on vacation he was at the vet. I have a
miniature Dachshund and he is my sisters little angel because he will follow her where ever she goes.
The worst part about the end of summer is that my sister Kiana has to go back to

  • 2. How Did Cornelius Vanderbilt Impact On America Law! What do I care about the law? Ain t I got power? . When Cornelius said this he meant that he could pretty much be meant that he was so rich he could overrule the authority. Cornelius Commodore Vanderbilt was one one of the first tycoons ever. Cornelius ended up being one of the richest people in the world of his modern era. When Cornelius died, he was worth 100 million dollars. Cornelius made a huge social impact by making the track gauge, laying train track rails all around the USA and was one the first people to make monopolies. Cornelius Commodore Vanderbilt was born on May 17, 1984, in Port Richmond, Staten Island, New York, U.S. Cornelius quit school at 11 and started to work at a waterfront. • 3. Lust In Romeo And Juliet In one of the most highly renown love tragedies written in history, Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet explains the highly debated notion of love at first sight through the relationship between the two star crossed lovers , Romeo and Juliet. Though many can argue that this relationship between the two is only for lust, it is clearly shown in the play that the family rivaled couple is truly in love. Through Juliet s decisiveness and maturity, Juliet shows that her relationship with Romeo is not about lust, but about true love. First, Juliet experiences her first moment of true love when she meets Romeo at the Capulet Masquerade. • 4. Genetic Screening and Physiological Testing in Young Athletes I was stretching when I heard an overenthusiastic mother gloating on behalf of her daughter stating that her daughter was smart and capable of becoming an elite figure skater when one coach explained, She doesn t have the right body. Followed by the unmistakable whimpering of a little girl crying and an arguing parent, it was clear the little girl did not meet the standard of flexibility and body composition to reach the upper echelon of figure skating that her mother expected and she wanted. Flexibility is a necessity in figure skating in order to execute technique well, while a low percentage of body fat is important for aerobic power and jump height (Winter et al. 317). Angrily storming out, the mother made it clear to the coach that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These tests will also increase competition making for more exciting spectator sports, and benefit the United States by maintaining its international competitiveness and top Olympic rank. It would be beneficial for individual athletes to use talent identification and search programs designed to scout young athletes for future Olympics. Athletes put a tremendous amount of hours and years into their specific sport in hopes of reaching high levels of competition one day, such as the Olympics. By implementing a mode of genetic testing and testing physiological traits, it would remove the factor of chance and give a more accurate reading of athletes likeliness to reach their goals. In addition, these measures will save time by allowing the children to get involved in activities that fit them early on, ultimately saving money as well. A mother, Donna Campiglia, replied eagerly to the idea of genetic testing explaining that it would also save parental frustration (Macur). Some may argue that seeking traits in a young child would ruin the factor of enjoyment in the sport, but if the child shows success in the sport, there would be a higher chance of them enjoying what they do (Epstein). The benefits of making these tests more available can be life changing for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Similarities and Differences between Seletal, Cardiac, and... SIMILARITIES AND DIFFERENCES BETWEEN SELETAL, CARDIAC, AND SMOOTH MUSCLE: Skeletal Muscle Structure: skeletal muscles cells are like long fiber structures, That contain many nuclei and are subdivided into smaller structures that are called myofibrils . The Myofibrils are created of two kinds of myofilaments . Thin filaments are made of two strands of the protein actin and one strand of a regulatory protein coiled with each other. Thick filaments are staggered arrays of myosin molecules . * Organization Units of skeletal muscle. Filaments are organized into structures called the sarcomeres . Sarcomeres are created in the following manners: * The Z lines are at the border of the sarcomere . They align in adjacent myofibrils . *The I bands are areas that are near the edges of the sarcomere containing only thin filament. * The A bands are regions where thick and thin filaments overlap each other and correspond to the length of the thick filament.* The H zones are the areas in the center of the A bands containing only thick filament. In vertebrates Cardiac Muscles: are only found in the heart. Muscles cells are branched, and the junctions between the cells contain intercalated discs that electrically connect all heart muscle cells with each other, allowing the co ordinated actions. These cells can also create their own action potentials. In Smooth Muscles: There are no striations and contain less myosin; the myosin is not associated with specific actin strand. ... • 6. The Effects Of Zika Virus Spreads Through Bites From... The primary means by which the Zika virus spreads is through bites from infected mosquitoes of which the Aedes mosquito is known to be the primary carrier (Center for Disease Control, 2016). These mosquitos are active at night but are most prominent during the daytime. This is not, however, the only means of transmission. An infected person may pass the virus on from mother to child, during sexual contact, or during a blood transfusion. The transmission from mother to child is of serious concern since the virus has been linked to microcephaly, a birth defect showcased by a smaller head when compared to other babies (CDC, 2016). This is a sign that the brain has stopped growing. Once a person is infected they will may experience a combination of fever, headache, rash, joint pain, and conjunctivitis. The symptoms will usually remain for a period of two to seven days. Fortunately, the number of fatalities caused by the virus has remained limited so far. Of those persons who survive after becoming infected with the virus it is believed that they will have a type of immunity that will prevent another infection from occurring (World Health Organization, 2016). Although this disease has just recently come into the headlines worldwide, because of its prevalence in Brazil with the upcoming Olympics, it was actually first discovered in the Zika Forest of Uganda in 1947 in monkeys. The first human case was not reported until 1952 (WHO, 2016). As a part of its more recent history, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Minimum Wage Wars Minimum Wage Wars In 2015, the Illinois minimum wage is $8.25 an hour (Schreiber and Young). There are people in Illinois who want to raise the minimum wage to $15. The current debate for the increase in minimum wage is that, by increasing the minimum wage, cost of living will be easier to pay for, poverty levels will decrease, and produce income equality. This notion sounds like a good idea initially; however, what will the repercussions of raising the minimum wage most likely look like? Increasing the minimum wage will probably have the opposite effect of what is intended by its supporters. A $15 raise in minimum wage may result in job loss. • 8. Positive Changes In The Progressive Era As the world came into a new century, United States flew to a new era. No longer were Americans willing to huddle in the shadows of their rich neighbors, no longer were they willing to be used as cheap labor, and no longer were they willing to stay quiet. The Progressive Era hit United States with full force, screeching to halt corruption and sexist discrimination. However, as one part of Americans experienced positive change the other part was discriminated against. The Progressive Movement changed America extensively, yet that change was not positive for all. A central issue of the Progressive Movement was political corruption. For many years Political Machines plagued urban areas, bribing immigrants for votes in exchange for jobs. During the early 1900 s many progressives were females looking to legacy of positive change. A large reform movement that women were involved in was the Settlement House movement. These types of reforms not only helped the poor and unfortunate, but also granted females more power. Female organizations, like the National American Woman Suffrage Association, grew in size, and females were able to transform their traditional social roles into public and political roles. Through these types of reforms, women were able to obtain broader support for female suffrage, and in 1920 the 19th amendment was adopted prohibiting the government from denying U.S. citizens the right to vote based on gender. (No Tape, No Testimony) Police body cameras are used in some police departments as a way to record any interaction between an officer and a citizen. Some Americans today seem to think that police body cameras interfere with their right to privacy, because they record sensitive situations. They capture the entire interaction to keep things fair. With today s advanced technology, police body cameras have proven to be very useful. They are crucial in putting an end to unnecessary police misconduct. In 2012, the Rialto Police Department in California implemented police body cameras and recorded the outcome. The results showed that the number of complaints filed against officers fell by 88 percent compared with the previous 12 months. Use of force by officers fell by almost 60 percent over the same period (Lovett). Without a doubt, police body cameras do the trick to prevent potentially dangerous situations from occurring. As William A. Farrar, the Rialto police chief once stated, When you put a camera on a police officer, they tend to behave a little better, follow the rules a little better. And if a citizen knows the officer is wearing a camera, chances are the citizen will behave a little better. I strongly agree with this statement because if the interaction between the officer and the citizen is being recorded, neither of the two will want to behave badly. The citizen knows that their bad behavior could result in consequences and the officer knows that their misconduct could result in punishment or even the loss of their job. The cameras record every detail that can be looked back on if there was a complaint filed against the officer that was wearing it. Clearly, police body ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Certain minority groups include, ethnic people, people with disability, woman, youth, homeless and indigenous. The Crime Victim Survey s uncovers the Dark Figure of crime and victimisation, it acknowledges the victim and it also explains about the limitations and strengths of recording and reporting crimes. For a crime to be recorded there are three stages that must be delivered. The first is that a person must identify that a crime has been committed, the offender who is committing the crime must been seen by another person. Secondly, the police or others to whom the crime has been reported must accept that the action has been done against the law, or that law has been broken in the act. Thirdly, the crime must be reported to the relevant authorities either by the one who has observed the crime being committed or the person who committed it. The Spartan constitution contained elements of monarchy, oligarchy and democracy and was described by ancient writers as a mixed constitution. The four elements were made by the two kings (monarchical), Gerousia (oligarchic), the Five Ephors (limited Democratic) and the Ekklesia (democratic). Although the kings were the supreme commanders of the armies the Ephors had control over many aspects that would have undermined the Kings authorities. The Kings were not able to declare war unless the Ephors had issued orders for mobilizing the Spartan army according to Xenophon. They also had the power to direct generals to particular campaigns and constantly acted as overseers always having two Ephors accompany the King into battle. They were responsible for the education of the Spartan youth and maintaining discipline throughout the community this was achieved through there power to be able to fine people on the spot for many things including even being lazy. Their jobs also entitled them to join the Gerousia in conducting criminal trials and were privileged even more in being the only magistrates to be able to hold a civil trial. They also controlled the Krypteia and state finances. These publishers were credited with starting the Spanish American War due to their exaggeration and inflammatory headlines (Campbell 2001). • 14. Compare The Relationship Between William Wordsworth And I... From my reading of both the Grasmere Journals written by Dorothy Wordsworth and also the poem I wandered lonely as a cloud written by William Wordsworth, I believe that there is a strong relationship between the two. I think that both William and his sister Dorothy experienced the same relationship with the Daffodil s they saw. The only difference is that William expressed his experience through poetry while Dorothy expressed hers through diary entries. From the evidence we have with the dates of when both were written, I believe William wrote his poem based on Dorothy s journals. Dorothy s journals are mostly written either at the beginning of the day or in the evening. This time of day is when she is either reflecting on the day gone by or thinking about the day ahead. As she is often out walking with William or Coleridge it is probable that she is reflecting on these events quite a lot. On May 14th she writes I sate a long time upon a stone at the margin of the lake, and after a flood of tears my heart was easier. Dorothy explains how after she reflects she becomes happier. • 15. Similarities And Differences Of The Egyptian, Zhou... Midterm I INTRODUCTION In historic times, multiple Societies of people living and collaborating together in a community is what led to the formation of many Empires. Empires were comprised of similar groups of people that were most often geographically located within close proximities. It is interesting to compare and contrast three societies which became Empires: the Egyptian, Zhou Chinese, and Persian. Each Empire is responsible for contributing to a foundational advancement that has been used in future generations. I will compare the similarities and contrasts of each and explain why I believe the Persian Empire was the most successful Empire. I will start by addressing the primary similarities, which are that each Empire was responsible for innovating and creating things in the following areas of: mathematics, architecture, and philosophy. In contrast, the differences that existed were due to each Empire creating advancements and developments as a need from their respective demography, which means their environment and surroundings dictated the areas they excelled and innovated the most in. After researching these, I deemed the most successful Empire to be the one in which created the most widely used things throughout the entire world, and that are still in use today. Also, I determined the most important determining factor of an Empire being successful was if it had an acceptable democratic and equal societal philosophy. Thus, I found all these successful ... Angela Carter s The Snow Child In The Snow Child , Angela Carter criticizes gender roles as well as the result of when we can finally fulfill a desire and this is conveyed in a very interesting way. Angela Carter does not simply rewrite the story of Snow White but rather represents the objectification of the female gender, even in a premature age. This story belongs to the post modern literary era, which is known for deconstructing things, going deep to the core, criticizing and pointing things out. All those things can be found in this story, not only as a post modern feature but also as a feminist feature. Who Is Pierre Auguste Renoir La Promenade Although La Promenade was not the title given to this painting by Renoir, this painting is partially a tribute to previous artists whom Renoir tremendously esteemed. Pierre Auguste Renoir was born on February 25, 1841 in France. Renoir lived during the Impressionist movement, which was a French art movement from the 1850 s till around 1900. He studied under a man named Charles Gleyre, who also taught skillful painters such as Claude Monet, Alfred Sisley, and Frédéric Bazille. This playful contrast between well illuminated subjects, and poorly lit subjects is enhanced further by the shade covering the man s face, and the almost cartoonish depiction of his face. Renoir acknowledged no rules, and did not set limits on his capability to extemporize. Renoir s work was a paradox. While he painted scenes that were not generally painted by fine artists such as himself, he employed oil painting, which was associated with the world of fine art. From the statements about Renoir that did survive about his personal practices and conduct, it is sufficiently shown that he resolvedly rejected the idea of yielding to common social standards. The span of different various social and artistic viewpoints that Renoir embraced affirms his rejection to be stereotyped. Unfortunately, Pierre Auguste Renoir died on December 3, 1919. The Court, however, observed that the sole, individual opinion of the Chief Justice of India does not constitute consultation within the meaning of Arts 217 and 222(1) of the Constitution. Self-Moralism And Social Criticism In Jane Addams Jane Addams wanted the mind of women to be valued and mirrored through the actions of individuals seeking to use emotions of empathy and feeling of duty rather than self interest. She joined the growing pool of criticism of Social Darwinism not because of its scientific weaknesses, but rather due to its center principal of anti morality. She refused to accept its masculine ideals of physical dominance to serve self interest and its ranking of materialism. Without doubt, one of her most stringent and remembered points of social criticism was targeted at paternalism. She routinely exposed the motives behind 19th century philanthropists who attempted to do good to people rather than to do good with them . Once again, her target of criticism is the male centered way of thinking that was pertinent in her time, due to the fact that it was overwhelmingly focused on placing oneself ahead of another person and attempting to force yourself onto them because you feel that your way of handling the situation is better than those who are experiencing the hardship you are attempting to amend in the first place. She wanted less of a paternal mindset and more of a maternal one that is categorized by empathetic collaboration instead of domination. • 31. Socrates s View On Plato s The And Aristophanes s The... Elenchus, as a famous Socratic method for education, uses dialogue and questions to approach philosophical truths. The method is presented in both Plato s the Euthyphro and Aristophanes s the Clouds. However, Socrates s personal image and characteristics, as well as the nature of his questioning differ a lot in these two works. While the Euthyphro presents a philosopher king guiding the less wise people in discovery of truths, Socrates in the Clouds has little interest in either exploring the ethical truth or helping others get out of Plato s cave . Instead, he is portrayed as a sophist who corrupts people with mysterious and useless knowledge, ignores traditional Athenian education, and debilitates Athenian men. Compared to Plato s focus on Socrates s wisdom reflected in the dialogue, the Clouds is a distorted interpretation of Socrates s elenchus. Rather than justifiably criticizing Socrates, Aristophanes depicts him from a common Athenian s perspective. It is this misunderstanding of the value of Socrates s teaching by Athenian citizens that constitutes the failure of elenchus in both the Clouds and the Euthyphro. Socrates s image in the two works differ firstly in his attitude towards knowledge and towards himself. A typical statement of Socrates, both in the Euthyphro and in other Plato s works, is that he has no clear knowledge. He is different from the public because he knows that he does not know. Neither does he claim to teach or corrupt the young (Euthyphro, p.2 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
