Similarities Between Ancient Egypt And Ancient Athens
A Comparison of Societies in Ancient Egypt and Periclean Athens
Midterm Essay Maureen Cairns
In comparing and contrasting the societies of Periclean Athens and ancient Egypt, we must first
mention some of the characteristics of an actual society: a society has a stable food supply, social
levels and classes, specialization of labor, a system of government, and a highly developed culture.
Both the societies of ancient Athens and Egypt fit into these parameters. In this essay we will explore
social classes, gender relations, social inequality, and hierarchy as they apply to these societies. Both
ancient Athens and Egypt adhered to a strict hierarchical framework, ranking people as superiors or
inferiors. Old Kingdom Egyptian hierarchy is described as having the king and queen at the top, with
priests, administrators, governors and army commanders coming second, then the commoners who
worked mostly in agriculture, and finally, slaves, who had been captured in war. (Hunt, pg. 22).
According to Esolen, (pg. 35), Egyptian society was structured as such: the Pharaoh came first, and
was believed to be God on earth. Next came the Vizier , who was the pharaohs chief advisor. Nobles
were next in the hierarchy, responsible for making local laws. Priests came next, and were responsible
for performing rituals and ceremonies. Scribes were a very important group, as they were the only
ones who could read or write, so they were the record keepers. A small percentage

The Process Of A Student
Student interns either schedule a follow up appointment with the patient or they are done and walk
them out. The student goes to their office and puts a progress note of wat happened in E record. The
intern will then fax all the appropriate referrals for the patient on to the agencies that will be providing
the services. The next stage in the logic model is outputs. In case management this would be the
patients receiving the services we helped them sign up for. To make sure that this happens the interns
have to call places that they have faxed the patient s information to, to see if and when they will be
accepted into that program. If they will not be accepted the student needs to bring the patient back in
and find a different solution for the patient. Sometimes for the patient to receive the services the
student has to go out into the field. In Rochester, they have now set new restrictions on when and
where you can go to food pantries. There are some places that only case managers can go. The student
could go and get food for their patients, if their patients and the students could not find a local pantry
to help the patient. Outcomes for the logic model are broken up into three part short term,
intermediate, and long term. The short term outcomes are because of case management patients will
learn what services are available to them in the community and be able to take advantage of them.
Patients will also feel better because they now know where to look for services,

Religion In The Sassanid Empire
Introduction Religion played an important role in Sassanid Empire, although the relationship between
Sasanian kings and religious practice was complex and inconsistent. It is not easy to uncover the
actual role of religion in the political culture in the Sassanid Empire. For instance, it is unclear
whether it was theology that drove political culture or politics influenced development of theology in
order to suit in the interests of rulers. In the light of evidence available in modern times, this paper
seeks to investigate the nature of the role of Zoroastrianism and the Zoroastrian priesthood in Sasanian
political culture.
Zoroastrianism under the Sasanians (224 CE 7th Century) The Sassanid society was highly stratified.

I Am Devoted Community Service
I am devoted to community service. As a student, my immediate community is my school. I ran for
election to the Old Rochester Regional Junior High School Student Council a mere six weeks after I
moved to this town, where I knew not one person, so that I could get to know people and learn about
the issues students at my new schools faced. I won and was further elected President by a student body
who had just only met me. I have now been President for two years in a row. As student government
representative, my role is to listen to the issues of the students and to represent them to the best of my
ability to the administration, the teachers, and the outside community. As President, I am able to
inspire and help the students put the words ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, I look forward to taking part in an art club or chorus as a creative outlet. Continuing
soccer throughout high school is important to me. I am motivated by the competition and camaraderie
of team sports. While at high school, with the opportunities at hand and sport seasons that do not
overlap, I aspire to join whichever sports may interest me.
Outside of school I am very involved in soccer, and have been playing competitively for 7 years. Prior
to that, I played recreationally since I was 3 years old. In elementary school I experimented with other
sports, but my love for soccer was invulnerable so I stuck with it. I have been captain of four teams, I
am very proud of my leadership position on the field.
Besides sports I love music. I sing in my school chorus as a leading alto and have been for 3 years.
Besides chorus class, I have never had formal training, but I would enjoy the opportunity for such
training if it was afforded to me. While singing is an art, it also is a form of expression. I love to sing
because it helps me convey emotions in a way that other people can feel what I m experiencing
through song. I have notebooks filled with original lyrics which are accompanied by guitar chords.
Despite the fact I have never had any classes, my father inspired me to begin playing the guitar, which
I plan to continue pursuing in

Rational Solutions To The Cold War
Rational Solutions for Emotional Problems
As Carl von Clausewitz famously stated, War is merely a continuation of politics by other means. He
could not have been more accurate in the case of the Cold War, which came more than a century after
his death. The Cold War, being a war of competing ideologies as well as competing nations and
militaries, was focused more on political conflicts than military ones, thus giving it the moniker of
being a cold war. Yet while the United States of America, the leader of the liberal democratic side, did
realize the importance of politics in the war, it was not so adept in understanding the political climate
of the areas in which the Cold War was hottest. It is undoubtedly true that the American policymakers
of the war understood its battles better than the ordinary Korean or Vietnamese when it came to facts
and figures; at the same time, when it came to understanding the emotions the battles brought to its
various participants, the policymakers were often seemingly clueless. The United States, all
throughout the Cold War, showed an inability to understand the emotional climate of its chosen
battlegrounds and the emotional impact its choices had on them, and constantly offered rational
solutions to issues with emotional roots. This mistake impacted the American involvement in the Cold
War, and should serve as a lesson from which the US evaluates its current actions. After all, as the
leader of the free world, the United States still

Themes In The Inheritance Of Loss
Human Deprivation
The title of the novel The Inheritance of Loss is very suitable as tells failures, disappoinments of the
real characters once lived in the post colonial India. The themes of loss, for in our world if mankind
has nothing else to take over, it can accept loss as its heritage, however, the matter is not as simple or
straight as it looks, the reason is that this novel is a highly intricate work which confronts several
themes extending from loss to poverty, gain, to wealth, justice to injustice.
The Inheritance of Loss is a political and historical novel, but the truth is that in spite of its political
and historical extents, it is a socio cultural work of fiction. Desai pursues to redefine human culture,

accident and his position becomes strangely curious.
On the other he has to undergo a heart breaking loss. He has to tolerate, the loss of power and position
to which he reconcile himself with plenty seriousness and concern. This loss of family relationship is
one of major issues in Indian society that Kiran Desai relates in this novel.
The Inheritance of Loss may be viewed as an anti colonial novel which goes against the deprivation of
poor and weak people in all possible ways. The cook is so much involved in his son s career that in

The Unemployment Rate Within The City Of Newark
The unemployment rate within the City of Newark has been moving in the opposite direction when
compared to the national rate. The country as a whole, continues to see a decline in unemployment
while Newark numbers have started to climb. A number of variables are key players in contributing to
the employment struggles the city faces, including voluntary unemployment, lack of
skills/training/education, and acts of crime or criminal history affecting a person s employment
eligibility. As disheartening as it may be, the issue is one that isn t being ignored. On the state, city,
and community level, there are several programs and services to help combat the rising unemployment
level affecting the City of Newark. One could hope, with the dedication and support of the
government and citizens alike, that Newark will soon follow the same trend as the rest of the country
at combating unemployment. To solve the unemployment issue in Newark, government takes actions.
Department of Labor and Workforce Development provides unemployment insurance. People who are
unemployed can claim weekly benefits by filing the forms online. What s more, N.J. is first to qualify
for federal funds for unemployment. New Jersey received nearly $207 million in federal stimulus
money to pay unemployment claims in 2009 (The Associated Press). The loan is free of interest

A Comparison Of Justice In Bohemia And A Scandal In Belgravia
Examine how the crime fiction texts A Scandal in Bohemia and A Scandal in Belgravia privilege the
dominate values of society and appeal to the audiences sense of justice.
The crime fiction texts A scandal in Bohemia and A scandal in Belgravia explore the historical and
cultural position of dominant social values and beliefs in society, shaped by the culture and time of
which the texts were written. The audience is invited to consider the ways in which the privileged
ideological assumptions which inform our reading, are important to the meaning we make from the
text through the dominant social values at the time. The way in which the texts represents people,
expectations and behaviours provides the audience with a social commentary in which values are

The way in which these dominant values of society are privileged by the texts via their characters and
plot, appeal to the audience s sense of justice through the issues it raises. The issues, including the
obstruction of justice and good vs. evil, lead to appearances of crime and presents the audience with
common features associated with crime fiction, including characters (detectives, suspects) and red
herrings. This appeals to one s sense of justice, thus questioning the audiences view on preventing
crime and their opinion on the pursuit/obstruction of justice through the appearance of the privileged
social values in association with common features of crime fiction.
The idea that patriarchal power places women in an inferior position, particularly in patriarchal
societies and function to maintain the dominant social order, is a value closely followed and in some
ways challenged in A Scandal in Bohemia and A Scandal in Belgravia . Traditionally women were
perceived as being the physically and intellectually weaker sex and in all ways subordinate to men a
dominant value known to the Victorian

Traffic Court Observation Paper
I decided to attend a night traffic court session at the Ventura Courthouse. The cases ranged from seat
belt violations to reckless driving. Most of the defendants appeared before the court to request more
time to pay the fines associated with the tickets. I was surprised to see that very few of the people in
the courthouse were pleading not guilty. Only one person showed up to defend a case with legal help
from an attorney of some sort. The first person to claim not guilty was charged with speeding. I tried
to get as many of the details of the case as possible. The facts of the case were as follows: While
driving on Bogus Avenue, the defendant was stopped by an Officer and was charged with violating

I was unaware that the law does not require drivers to stop for a predetermined length of time. The
defendant pleaded Not Guilty to the charge of violating CVC 22450(a). The facts of the case were as
follows: While exiting the 5 freeway, the defendant claims to have made a brief stop at a stop sign at
the intersection at the end of the off ramp. After the stop, she proceeded to turn right through the
intersection. Shortly thereafter, she was stopped by a officer and was charged with violating CVC
22450(a) Failure to stop for stop sign. The defendant stated that she told the officer that she had
stopped at the limit line as required. The officer agreed and said: You stopped, but you didn t stop long
enough. The defendant stated that the officer seemed to indicate in this statement that he wanted her to
stop for a longer period of time than she actually had. The defendant read from the California Vehicle
Code, the required length of time for a stop is defined in CVC 587 as Stop or stopping... shall mean
any cessation of movement of a vehicle. The defendant then stated that she believed that any cessation
of movement would include the stop she made. She then stressed that the officer, by his statements,
seemed to believe that a set time period for a stop is required though no such set time length is
actually provided for in the law. The defendant also offered that since many drivers do not stop at all

Nintendo DS Analysis Essay
Introduction
The product I have chosen to study is the Nintendo DS. This product is one of Nintendo s most
recently released games consoles. I will explain what the Nintendo DS does. It is a handheld games
console that consists of a book like structure. It has a small LCD screen on each side. One is a touch
screen and the other is a viewing screen. The console also incorporates a microphone and has Wi Fi
capabilities. This allows the user to operate the game by using a small stylus on the touch screen, it
can also listen to voice commands and can be used with other players if utilising the Wi Fi feature.

The marketing environment consists of three key sections.
1: The micro environment: This environment holds the forces close to the company that affect its
ability to serve its customers. These are the employees, suppliers, stakeholders and customers.
Relationships in the micro environment can change over time. It influences the company directly and
is the environment where the company can enforce some control or influence.
2: The macro environment: This environment holds all the forces that are out of the direct control of
the company. Such forces are described as follows.
Political Environment
Economic Environment
Social and cultural Environment
Technological Environment
Any organisations or companies that do not allow themselves to adapt to these environmental changes

Mattel s Iconic And Best Selling Brand
Mattel s iconic and best selling brand is The Barbie. Introduced in 1959 as The Teenage Fashion
Model, Barbie allowed girls to experience fashion and to explore various dreams, fantasies and
aspirations without ever leaving home. Because of the introduction of the television in the 1950 s,
companies discovered a new consumer audience among children and teenagers. The post war era saw
a strong economy advancing the middle class suburban families. Now, buying toys became a year
round business versus holiday or luxury items.
Barbie s image has since transitioned from the archaic glamourous 50 s house wife to an image that
has become a part of the American fabric, by reflecting the women of each generation. The Barbie
brand is known for its lucrative collaborations, having created collector s items for iconic brands such
as Chanel, Oscar De La Renta, Coca Cola, and most famously the Disney Princess line. This franchise
has recently gone through a drastic product rebirth over the past 10 years; modifying the traditional
and controversial measurements, in order to make Barbie appear more realistic and naturally
proportionate and physically diverse. According to an article in The Atlantic , [Barbie] will now come
in a variety of shapes and shades. (And also: a variety of hairstyles, and eye colors, and face sculpts. )
The doll will still be fairly cartoonish this is Barbie, after all but, from today, she can be bought in
sizes petite and tall and curvy. (Garber, 2016)

Business Model And The Role Of Non Financial Measurements
Introduction
A business model can be defined as a representation of how an organization generates revenue and
gains money from operations. Nowadays, it has become popular within financial statement. This
model includes nine parts of business model canvas: value proposition, key activities, key resources,
partner network, cost structure, client relationships, client segments, distribution channels and revenue
flows. However, some people argue that it is not a good suggestion to add the business model into the
business annual report. There are also some disadvantages in interpreting the concept. Nonetheless,
annual reports always include both financial and non financial measures. It is basically a quantitative
data which is not with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Manager can use a business model in order to explore a reliable future development by learning and

interest that investors can received annually. Therefore, they might invest more money in the business

information, and ensure the qualitative characteristic is understandability.

Why I Apply To College
Academics have pushed me through life unlike I would have ever thought. Every day, I try to impress
myself and, although some days I fall just short, I usually end up making myself proud in one way or
another. A phrase I repeat to myself frequently is you learn something new every day . This phrase
means a lot to me, as learning something new every day makes me a better individual. My goal in life
is to use academics to the best of my ability and to never suffice for anything less than greatness, and I
hope to enhance this goal in college.
One of the biggest reasons I am applying to college, besides it being a conventional rite of passage in
life, is because I will be a first generation student. I consider it an absolute honor to have the prestige
of going to college first. In doing such, I aim not only to set the bar, but set it high. I hope to do this by
achieving nothing less than greatness in college as it not only makes me ... Show more content on

While I do appreciate numbers and their role in society, I believe the world relies too much on
statistical inference in a fashion similar to linear regression: what is done now can be interpolated, or
analyzed on the basis of today, not extrapolated, or forecast for the future. If we were all judged on our
numbers now, there would be nothing else extemporaneous to think about us for the future. Numbers
can change. I might look ordinary on the facade, but I find that I might offer something extraordinary.
What I offer might not be evident now, but with further experience and knowledge, my extraordinary
qualities could be revealed. My numbers and criterion now may have some pertinence to my future
success, but they could also be entirely irrelevant. It is only a matter of those who I am around and
what I am potentially allowed to achieve to quite possibly unravel my extraordinary facets underneath
an ordinary facade. That is as contingent on me as it is

Cultural Beliefs
Cultural Beliefs
Every culture has different beliefs on certain issues such as death, gender, and spiritual practices.
Cultural beliefs influence the way patients understand health concepts and how they take care of
themselves. Therefore, knowing a patients background and culture is a helpful key to solving certain
problems. The Hispanic culture is an old and very unique culture that has strong beliefs concerning
death, dying, gender, family, and spiritual practices. Relationships are very important in the Hispanic
culture. The majority of the Hispanic culture are Roman Catholics which means they believe that the
soul is eternal and continues on after the physical body has died. Roman Catholics consider human life
sacred. The Hispanic culture takes family very seriously. Most people resist of the idea of putting a
loved one in the nursing home because they want a family member to be there for their last breath.
Many times, religious values keep an ill person from feeling comfortable because their religion does
not allow pain medication. When a person is on their death bed, last rites are given by a priest, ill
person gives their last confession, and the priest offers absolution. When a loved one has passed away
the family will hold a wake. A wake in the Hispanic culture is a time for family members to share
memories of the deceased. A funeral is held in a church and the casket is carried to the final location.
A burial is followed by the church service. According to the

Being The Son Of A Teacher Is Hard

Senior Year
It was beautiful. I had a few weeks left of school, then I was off to summer before leaving home to go
to college at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. I rolled into school at 7:45 rocking out to Club
Mix 96 cassette tape in my 1999 Nissan Sentra. I was instructed to park my car behind the school near
the track and football field. This was a customary event once a year during the rummage sale days, the
students cleared out and crated a maze of cars from the windows of the cafeteria. Walking into school,
I had no idea about what events would eventually transpire. I went through classes, talked to friends,
and enjoyed being a senior in a school that all the seniors thought they ran . After school, I was out on
the baseball field playing a rival team. It was a fantastic game and more importantly a win. A
celebration and shower brought my best two friends and I out to our cars with nobody else around.
Then it hit me.
I turned to my friends Sam and Jacob and I told them that I felt good. I felt like celebrating, we all
played well, we all got a win, and we were in a unique position. It was perfect and it was so simple. I

IV. CONCLUSION _
In this experiment, a solution of Na2CO3 was reacted with a solution of CaCl2 to form a precipitate of

4.24 grams, which gave a Percent Yield of 100.473% and a Percent Error of 0.473%. The actual yield
was greater than the theoretical yield. It is suggested that it was greater than because I used two

probably obtain a different mass for each of them. Because I am only off by 0.02 grams, that could

happens yet these kids are still heros! In this movie and book there are two sides of kids, the Greasers,
and Socs. These two groups have fights between each other but if you compare and contrast them
between the book and movie you will see both stories are told a little bit different and also a little bit
the same. In the Outsiders there are many differences and similarities between the two versions, book
and the movie because of how the events are told through the book, the movie, and both. In the book
The Outsiders S.E. Hinton decided to elaborate a little more and be more specific on the events and
people so that we could picture the book in our minds like it was a movie. The Author tells more about
the characters and they are and what they are like in the book. I have light brown, almost red hair and
greenish gray eyes... I am a greaser (Hinton 1). Soda is handsomer than anyone else I know... His eyes
are dark brown lively, dancing, recklessly laughing, eyes that can be gentle and sympathetic one
moment and blazing with anger the next (Hinton 7 8). Darry is six feet two, and broad shouldered and
muscular...He would be real handsome if his eyes weren t so cold. He doesn t understand anything that
is not plain hard fact. But he uses his head (Hinton 6 7). Dally had spent three years on the wild side
of New York and had been arrested at the age of ten... He was

Han-Chinese Violence
The violence that is occurring in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region amongst the Uyghurs and the
Han Chinese, stems from the conflict and debate between the Uyghurs and the People Republic of
China (PRC) in 1975. According to Gardner Bovington, there is a diverging perspective on the history
of Xinjiang; to the Chinese historical perspective, in 1795, once the Qing general conquered the vast
territory [...it became] an integral piece of Chinese national territory (Bovington 2). While to the
Uyghurs, such concurring of land did not occur, allowing the Uyghurs to believe that they are still a
distinct [...] nation, with its own rightful homeland, history, culture, and language (Bovington 2).
Although both of these perceptions, to the individuals, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, such rumors were not verified nor confirmed. Due to the strong authoritarian regime China
centers itself upon, media outlets are potentially inaccurate sources of information. The CCP controls
the outflow of information released by the media, due to such control over media outlets, China is able
to manipulate any situation in order to gain support and sympathy. In reference to the Global Conflict
Tracker, by China labeling the Uyghurs as a radicalized population it leads to the connotation that the
Uyghurs are associated with either the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM) or the Turkestan
Islamic Party (TIP) posing a direct terrorist risk to China (Darker blue). By China attempting to gain
international support via identifying terrorist organizations within the PRC it allows China to address
that this problem is not just a problem for China but also other countries who s enemies are terrorist
organizations example, the United States and its fight against ISIS. Although this may seem as a
benefit for China and its aims to integrate Xinjiang, for the Uyghurs it labels them as a potential
terrorist organization; hence, limiting their ability to tell their side of the narrative and gain
international sympathy limiting their ability to gain international support and address how the CCP is
marginalizing the Uyghurs. Thus, this inability

Similarities Between Bradstreet And Wheatley
Anne Bradstreet and Phillis Wheatley were both successful poets either during or after their time.
Bradstreet was a Puritan, therefor her writing was more of a personal reflection on her own inner and
outer life and it was never meant to be published. Wheatley was much more educated with her writing,
causing it to be more formal. Though they share very different lives one thing they both had in
common was their Christian backgrounds. They each reflected the Christian element in their poems,
and in this case, each shared the topic of debt and thankfulness. In the poem To Her Father with Some
Verses, Bradstreet writes in couplets in the Shakespearean sonnet form of 14 lines to acknowledge her
role as a woman and daughter. The poem is themed

Benetton Advertising Strategy Analysis
In 2011 fashion powerhouse United Colours of Benetton (Benetton) launched a worldwide campaign,
in an attempt to tackle the cultural hatreds that has permeated the globe. Under the name UnHate;
Benetton embarked on an advertising strategy that would later prove to create un paralelled discourses
that would ripple through continents from the White House in USA to The Vatican in Italy. The
campaigns impact across the globe centered largely on it s choice of unconventional advertising
methods; utilizing often controversial imagery, which lead to consumer and industry reactions
bordering uproar around the Ponzano Veneto Company. Benetton then, and now continues to argue
that hatred comes in many forms and views fashion as a global medium, ... Show more content on

Havisham by Carol Ann Duffy Essay
In Havisham, Carol Ann Duffy creates an interesting character. Write about the way the character is
created, and compare this with the way other characters are created in three other poems. You should
compare it with one poem by Simon Armitage and two poems from the pre 1912 poetry bank.
In Havisham, Carol Ann Duffy explores the character of Mrs Havisham and develops her by using
vivid imagery and metaphors. She starts the poem with Beloved sweetheart bastard which is an
oxymoron, used to display her mixed emotions about love and the man who jilted her. The plosive
sounds of b and d reinforce her angry tone and helps show how she mocks romance. She is displayed
as a bitter, hateful character who seeks revenge, shown with not a ... Show more content on

Havisham and The Laboratory link not only because of their sinister characters but because both
poems have a strong use of colours. In Havisham colours are used to create a contrast between a white
veil which is the colour of virginity and purity, and a red balloon which can be the colour of love and
sex but also for anger, hatred and embarrassment. Duffy uses this as a way to explore all the feelings
and emotions of the character and could be interpreted as Duffy trying to make the audience have
sympathy for Mrs Havisham. The Laboratory uses colours to create a superficial character who doesn
t see the poison as dangerous or deadly, but as some sort of treasure. She refers to gold oozings and
the exquisite blue as if to think of them as magical potions and not poisons. This is done to create an
almost naivety to her character and suggests that she doesn t understand how dangerous her actions
are. The Laboratory is set out in rhyming couplets to create a playful rhythm to show the character s
childish behaviour, and how she may not be fully aware of her dangerous her actions are. As the poem
starts, the speaker mentions only one woman who she wishes to poison. Yet as the poem continues,
she mentions other women who

Case Study Freeflyer
Hi Jun,
Thank you for evaluating FreeFlyer and your patience while we worked through your issue. Our Tech
Support team has spent some time analyzing your Mission Plan s (MP). We are happy to see you using
the Orbit Determination (OD) abilities of FreeFlyer. We do have some suggestions to help in
simplifying your MP and evaluating your results.
To recap, you have three separate MP s; the first is to setup your spacecraft and export the state vector
as an ephemeris. Then the second MP is used to apply the Black Jack point solution data file to the
ephemeris file using a Kalman Filter tool. The final MP then uses the Tracking Data Editor to generate
a new Black Jack point solution data file from the original Black Jack point solution. Although, ...

o In your spacecraft GUI there is a tab for the propagator step size (Spacecraft1  Motion Model 
Propagator  Step Size) set to 300 seconds, where as your Kalman Filter step size is only 60 seconds.
The Spacecraft step size should be identical to the Kalman Filter step size. This is mainly due to the
Kalman Filter step size taking precedent in FreeFlyer and wanting to ensure that the spacecraft
propagation is synced with the Kalman Filter. o Also under the Motion Model you are using 22 Zonal
and Tesseral potential fields and the Analytic density model. Although this is not incorrect you would
receive a better estimate if you used the Jacchia Roberts density model and increased your Zonals to a
larger number. I have updated the Zonals and Tesserals, in the attached MP, to use 40

Als Ice Bucket Challenge Paper

Joseph Wright
Research Project Social Media Campaign
Marketing in a Global Environment
Professor Mark Robinson
27 November 2014
Introduction
In this project, one looks at a successful social media campaign. The ALS ice bucket challenge is an
example of a successful campaign that brought millions in donations and thousands of participants.
Using the Dragonfly Effect, the campaign will be analyzed and then recommendations would be
uncovered.
The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge was started by two people, former baseball player Pete Frates, and
Pete Quinn from Yonkers, New York. Both are afflicted with ALS. ALS stands for Amyotrophic lateral
sclerosis or better known as Lou Gehrig s disease (Friedman Friedman, 2014). By July 2014, this
marketing plan had gone viral. The challenge involved declining the act and paying $100 to charity for

In the bucket challenge, the use of celebrities and the related philanthropy of playing along with a
humorous event can induce others to do the same and also donate more. It is like enlisting a group of
evangelists. The act must also be easy to understand and perform. It must be immediately actionable
since most people are not going to participate if it is difficult or dangerous.
One of the most important principles in the dragonfly effect is fun. The bucket challenge must be fun
if one wants to keep the involvement of the masses. Besides that, tailored acts that tap into people s
unique advantage can help spread the campaign. The audience must feel that the bucket challenge
makes them special and part of a larger cause. The act cannot be too difficult or too improper or
people especially celebrities would not participate. Finally the act must be open and no permission or
authority is involved (Aaker, Smith Adler, 2010). Anyone with a bucket, ice and smartphone can do

Ford Mustang History
2016 2017 MUSTANG Ford of America This section in the Ford website explains in full depths all the
new specs of the new 2016 2017 Ford Mustang. The Ford Mustang brings this year for example the
new eco boost system. The eco boost system has been never seen before in other models. The
traditional Mustang has always been produced in either a 6 cylinder engine or an 8 cylinder engine.
Due to numbers in sales dropping since its 1964 model, Ford Company believes that with its new 4
cylinder eco boost engine, sales will tend to increase. In a car market ruled by electric cars and hybrid
cars, today s society is preferring miles per gallon over everything. The Ford webpage also states each
engine delivers at least 300 horsepower. The 3.7L V6 offers up 300 horsepower and 280 pounds of
torque, standard on V6 Fastback model. The 2.3L Eco Boost engines brings out 310 horsepower and
320 pounds of torques. The 5.0L V8 kicks out at 435 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Article shows all three of America s most popular sports coupes have dropped in U.S. sales in May
2016. Through the first five months of 2016, all three are selling less often this year than they were
last year (Timothy Cain, 2016). The numbers as read in the article make sense when it comes to the
Ford Mustang, which Timothy Cain states that last year sold at a pace more torrid than anything
achieved by the Mustang since before the Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger returned in the
latter part of the last decade. The Mustang was brand new last year. Now, today, in early 2016, the
Mustang has out sold all its competitors and its new change and innovation is paying off very well.
These number in sales proves that the ford Mustang is worthy to take on the international

Captain Americ Captain s Superhero
Captain America is a Marvel comic book character, created in 1940. His real name is Steve Rodgers.
The Captain became a beloved superhero around the time of World War II. After being rejected by the
Army, Rodgers found himself as the test subject of a super soldier project. This experiment was
successful and it gave him abnormal strength, endurance, intelligence and speed. As this perfect
human and soldier, Captain America worked closely with soldiers to fight against the Nazis. During a
mission. Rodgers was forced to crash his plane into a glacier. This glacier kept him frozen for almost
seventy years. He was eventually thawed out in modern times. Today, Captain America is a loved, and
timeless superhero.

Captain America believes in justice, and that it must be served to those who have done wrong. For
instance, in Captain America: The Winter Soldier Nick Fury was chased after agents claiming to work
for local law enforcement and S.H.I.E.L.D. To hide from these men, fury went to Rodger`s home,
informing him how S.H.I.E.L.D was compromised. Soon after, he was shot by the Winter Soldier.
Fury later died while surgeon`s were trying to save him. The Captain made it is mission to figure out
who compromised S.H.I.E.L.D and to serve them justice for their role in Fury`s death. In the United
States we also have a strong sense of justice. We have an entire system that is devoted to serve justice
to those have committed crimes. Another value that is important to Steve Rodgers is courage. As a
superhero, one cannot be easily frightened. Therefore, Captain America is not afraid to risk his life to
save others. Throughout the move he is not apprehensive about jumping out of planes, or fighting ten
enemies in an elevator. In the movie, his tremendous example of courage is towards the end. The
Captain was in charge of overriding the software for the three ships. This would result in the three
ships blowing up. Captain America was willing to let himself die on the ship in order to successfully
override the systems. This action ended up saving thousands of people. Fortunately, the Captain

The Decameron was named after one of Songsong s favorite books written by Giovanni Boccaccio in
the mid 14th century that consisted of a collection of 100 stories told by 10 different characters over
10 days. The significances of this stories are that they all surround the similar theme. Songsong used
Boccaccio s concept and applied to his work by interpreting an outsourced public photo of the 2004
National People s Congress. Songsong enlarged the NPC 2004 photo and cut it into 10 sections and
painted each section individually. When placed together the original photo could be seen at a larger
scale. Songsong s second piece is Cuban Sugar which is a representation of an image of when China
went through a domestic sugar cane production. Its titled the Cuban Sugar as a representation of this
event reflecting the political conflict of interest through fractured independent sections of the full
piece of work. Completing Songsong s painting are individual sections within the painting with
different texture and color, suggesting a layered and disjoint between China and Cuba and their
historical interpretation.
The second artist featured in this exhibition with amazing art pieces inspired by his childhood
memories and materials is, Mark Bradford. Bradford was born in Southern California in what is
considered the hood of California. Bradford has received both Bachelor and Master in Fine Arts from
the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia.

Schlieffen Plan Strengths
Strength and Weaknesses of the Schlieffen Plan The First World War raged through the world from
1914 to 1918. Germany and Austria Hungary fought the allies consisting of Great Britain, France,
Italy, Japan, Russia, and the United States. The war led to massive destruction and many deaths on
both sides. All the European powers had to move millions of men so that they could be at their
positions and be ready for war. One of the most famous war plans in First World War was the
Schlieffen Plan. The plan was created by the chief of the German general staff Alfred von Schlieffen
from 1891 to 1905. The plan s main purpose was to avoid a two front war with France and Russia but
it had major issues. The plan took big risks and was very inflexible. The plan depended on that France
would be quickly beaten, and that Russia would be slow to mobilize and was therefore based on
assumptions. The Schlieffen Plan had strengths but the weaknesses were too big for the plan to be
successful. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This made them weaker both on both sides. Even though the attack on France almost succeeded the
Battle of Marne was lost and since this was a major part of the plan it contributed to the failure of the
plan. The plan could only continue and be successful if Germany had defeated France quickly instead
the war turned to trench warfare especially since the Schlieffen Plan was the only plan Germany had.
The Schlieffen Plan weaknesses were major in comparison to the strengths. Germany had to complete
the plan completely as it was planned. In order for it to be successful since their actions depended on
that certain things would happen. Therefore it only needed minor mistake to change the success of
Germany. Relying on assumptions as they did through the Schlieffen plan ended up having major
consequences for Germany and for the following course of First World

Therefore, women were made to upcycle their old clothes into new garments such as gloves and
shorter skirts etc. This highlights how tough the times were straight after the war where there were
major shortages of fabric and clothes. However once the rations started to lift in the 1950s, clothes
became increasingly cheaper and widely available. For men straight after the war, fashion was not too
different from how it was before, this being a single breasted suit for day wear. The materials they
used were natural such as cotton and wool due to scarce materials post war (V A archives). For men, it
wasn t until the early 1950s when their fashion became more varied due to the rise in subcultures. In
1947 fashion history was made. French designer, Christian Dior displayed his first collection Corolle
at 30 Avenue Montaigue and essentially became a world renowned designer overnight (Dior.com, no

different outfits to well known designers and editors. Carmel Snow, then editor in chief of harpers

Post-World War II America
The image of post World War II America is, generally speaking, identified as an era of wholesomeness
revolving around the nuclear family, the emergence of the suburban middle class and most importantly
social conformity. This period was also marked as one of oppression towards those that did match the
image of a good American citizen such as African Americans, working women, and homosexuals. All
of these groups, more or less, were subjected to legislation that blatantly limited their freedoms as
American citizens as well as demonization through the media and propagandist images and news

  • 2. Similarities Between Ancient Egypt And Ancient Athens A Comparison of Societies in Ancient Egypt and Periclean Athens Midterm Essay Maureen Cairns In comparing and contrasting the societies of Periclean Athens and ancient Egypt, we must first mention some of the characteristics of an actual society: a society has a stable food supply, social levels and classes, specialization of labor, a system of government, and a highly developed culture. Both the societies of ancient Athens and Egypt fit into these parameters. In this essay we will explore social classes, gender relations, social inequality, and hierarchy as they apply to these societies. Both ancient Athens and Egypt adhered to a strict hierarchical framework, ranking people as superiors or inferiors. Old Kingdom Egyptian hierarchy is described as having the king and queen at the top, with priests, administrators, governors and army commanders coming second, then the commoners who worked mostly in agriculture, and finally, slaves, who had been captured in war. (Hunt, pg. 22). According to Esolen, (pg. 35), Egyptian society was structured as such: the Pharaoh came first, and was believed to be God on earth. Next came the Vizier , who was the pharaohs chief advisor. Nobles were next in the hierarchy, responsible for making local laws. Priests came next, and were responsible for performing rituals and ceremonies. Scribes were a very important group, as they were the only ones who could read or write, so they were the record keepers. A small percentage ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Process Of A Student Student interns either schedule a follow up appointment with the patient or they are done and walk them out. The student goes to their office and puts a progress note of wat happened in E record. The intern will then fax all the appropriate referrals for the patient on to the agencies that will be providing the services. The next stage in the logic model is outputs. In case management this would be the patients receiving the services we helped them sign up for. To make sure that this happens the interns have to call places that they have faxed the patient s information to, to see if and when they will be accepted into that program. If they will not be accepted the student needs to bring the patient back in and find a different solution for the patient. Sometimes for the patient to receive the services the student has to go out into the field. In Rochester, they have now set new restrictions on when and where you can go to food pantries. There are some places that only case managers can go. The student could go and get food for their patients, if their patients and the students could not find a local pantry to help the patient. Outcomes for the logic model are broken up into three part short term, intermediate, and long term. The short term outcomes are because of case management patients will learn what services are available to them in the community and be able to take advantage of them. Patients will also feel better because they now know where to look for services, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Religion In The Sassanid Empire Introduction Religion played an important role in Sassanid Empire, although the relationship between Sasanian kings and religious practice was complex and inconsistent. It is not easy to uncover the actual role of religion in the political culture in the Sassanid Empire. For instance, it is unclear whether it was theology that drove political culture or politics influenced development of theology in order to suit in the interests of rulers. In the light of evidence available in modern times, this paper seeks to investigate the nature of the role of Zoroastrianism and the Zoroastrian priesthood in Sasanian political culture. • 5. I Am Devoted Community Service I am devoted to community service. As a student, my immediate community is my school. I ran for election to the Old Rochester Regional Junior High School Student Council a mere six weeks after I moved to this town, where I knew not one person, so that I could get to know people and learn about the issues students at my new schools faced. I won and was further elected President by a student body who had just only met me. I have now been President for two years in a row. As student government representative, my role is to listen to the issues of the students and to represent them to the best of my ability to the administration, the teachers, and the outside community. In addition, I look forward to taking part in an art club or chorus as a creative outlet. Continuing soccer throughout high school is important to me. I am motivated by the competition and camaraderie of team sports. While at high school, with the opportunities at hand and sport seasons that do not overlap, I aspire to join whichever sports may interest me. Outside of school I am very involved in soccer, and have been playing competitively for 7 years. Prior to that, I played recreationally since I was 3 years old. In elementary school I experimented with other sports, but my love for soccer was invulnerable so I stuck with it. I have been captain of four teams, I am very proud of my leadership position on the field. Besides sports I love music. I sing in my school chorus as a leading alto and have been for 3 years. Besides chorus class, I have never had formal training, but I would enjoy the opportunity for such training if it was afforded to me. While singing is an art, it also is a form of expression. I love to sing because it helps me convey emotions in a way that other people can feel what I m experiencing through song. I have notebooks filled with original lyrics which are accompanied by guitar chords. Despite the fact I have never had any classes, my father inspired me to begin playing the guitar, which I plan to continue pursuing in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Rational Solutions To The Cold War Rational Solutions for Emotional Problems As Carl von Clausewitz famously stated, War is merely a continuation of politics by other means. He could not have been more accurate in the case of the Cold War, which came more than a century after his death. The Cold War, being a war of competing ideologies as well as competing nations and militaries, was focused more on political conflicts than military ones, thus giving it the moniker of being a cold war. Yet while the United States of America, the leader of the liberal democratic side, did realize the importance of politics in the war, it was not so adept in understanding the political climate of the areas in which the Cold War was hottest. It is undoubtedly true that the American policymakers of the war understood its battles better than the ordinary Korean or Vietnamese when it came to facts and figures; at the same time, when it came to understanding the emotions the battles brought to its various participants, the policymakers were often seemingly clueless. The United States, all throughout the Cold War, showed an inability to understand the emotional climate of its chosen battlegrounds and the emotional impact its choices had on them, and constantly offered rational solutions to issues with emotional roots. This mistake impacted the American involvement in the Cold War, and should serve as a lesson from which the US evaluates its current actions. After all, as the leader of the free world, the United States still ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Themes In The Inheritance Of Loss Human Deprivation The title of the novel The Inheritance of Loss is very suitable as tells failures, disappoinments of the real characters once lived in the post colonial India. The themes of loss, for in our world if mankind has nothing else to take over, it can accept loss as its heritage, however, the matter is not as simple or straight as it looks, the reason is that this novel is a highly intricate work which confronts several themes extending from loss to poverty, gain, to wealth, justice to injustice. • 8. The Unemployment Rate Within The City Of Newark The unemployment rate within the City of Newark has been moving in the opposite direction when compared to the national rate. The country as a whole, continues to see a decline in unemployment while Newark numbers have started to climb. A number of variables are key players in contributing to the employment struggles the city faces, including voluntary unemployment, lack of skills/training/education, and acts of crime or criminal history affecting a person s employment eligibility. As disheartening as it may be, the issue is one that isn t being ignored. On the state, city, and community level, there are several programs and services to help combat the rising unemployment level affecting the City of Newark. One could hope, with the dedication and support of the government and citizens alike, that Newark will soon follow the same trend as the rest of the country at combating unemployment. To solve the unemployment issue in Newark, government takes actions. Department of Labor and Workforce Development provides unemployment insurance. People who are unemployed can claim weekly benefits by filing the forms online. What s more, N.J. is first to qualify for federal funds for unemployment. New Jersey received nearly $207 million in federal stimulus money to pay unemployment claims in 2009 (The Associated Press). The loan is free of interest through 2010. A Comparison Of Justice In Bohemia And A Scandal In Belgravia Examine how the crime fiction texts A Scandal in Bohemia and A Scandal in Belgravia privilege the dominate values of society and appeal to the audiences sense of justice. The crime fiction texts A scandal in Bohemia and A scandal in Belgravia explore the historical and cultural position of dominant social values and beliefs in society, shaped by the culture and time of which the texts were written. The audience is invited to consider the ways in which the privileged ideological assumptions which inform our reading, are important to the meaning we make from the text through the dominant social values at the time. This appeals to one s sense of justice, thus questioning the audiences view on preventing crime and their opinion on the pursuit/obstruction of justice through the appearance of the privileged social values in association with common features of crime fiction. The idea that patriarchal power places women in an inferior position, particularly in patriarchal societies and function to maintain the dominant social order, is a value closely followed and in some ways challenged in A Scandal in Bohemia and A Scandal in Belgravia . Most of the defendants appeared before the court to request more time to pay the fines associated with the tickets. I was surprised to see that very few of the people in the courthouse were pleading not guilty. Only one person showed up to defend a case with legal help from an attorney of some sort. The first person to claim not guilty was charged with speeding. I tried to get as many of the details of the case as possible. After the stop, she proceeded to turn right through the intersection. Shortly thereafter, she was stopped by a officer and was charged with violating CVC 22450(a) Failure to stop for stop sign. Fury later died while surgeon`s were trying to save him. The Captain made it is mission to figure out who compromised S.H.I.E.L.D and to serve them justice for their role in Fury`s death. In the United States we also have a strong sense of justice. We have an entire system that is devoted to serve justice to those have committed crimes. Another value that is important to Steve Rodgers is courage. As a superhero, one cannot be easily frightened. Therefore, Captain America is not afraid to risk his life to save others. Throughout the move he is not apprehensive about jumping out of planes, or fighting ten enemies in an elevator. In the movie, his tremendous example of courage is towards the end. The Captain was in charge of overriding the software for the three ships. This would result in the three ships blowing up. The Decameron was named after one of Songsong s favorite books written by Giovanni Boccaccio in the mid 14th century that consisted of a collection of 100 stories told by 10 different characters over 10 days. The significances of this stories are that they all surround the similar theme. Songsong used Boccaccio s concept and applied to his work by interpreting an outsourced public photo of the 2004 National People s Congress. Songsong enlarged the NPC 2004 photo and cut it into 10 sections and painted each section individually. When placed together the original photo could be seen at a larger scale. Songsong s second piece is Cuban Sugar which is a representation of an image of when China went through a domestic sugar cane production. Its titled the Cuban Sugar as a representation of this event reflecting the political conflict of interest through fractured independent sections of the full piece of work. Completing Songsong s painting are individual sections within the painting with different texture and color, suggesting a layered and disjoint between China and Cuba and their historical interpretation. Germany and Austria Hungary fought the allies consisting of Great Britain, France, Italy, Japan, Russia, and the United States. The war led to massive destruction and many deaths on both sides. All the European powers had to move millions of men so that they could be at their positions and be ready for war. One of the most famous war plans in First World War was the Schlieffen Plan. The plan was created by the chief of the German general staff Alfred von Schlieffen from 1891 to 1905. The plan s main purpose was to avoid a two front war with France and Russia but it had major issues. The plan took big risks and was very inflexible. The plan depended on that France would be quickly beaten, and that Russia would be slow to mobilize and was therefore based on assumptions. The Schlieffen Plan had strengths but the weaknesses were too big for the plan to be successful. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This made them weaker both on both sides. Even though the attack on France almost succeeded the Battle of Marne was lost and since this was a major part of the plan it contributed to the failure of the plan. The plan could only continue and be successful if Germany had defeated France quickly instead the war turned to trench warfare especially since the Schlieffen Plan was the only plan Germany had. The Schlieffen Plan weaknesses were major in comparison to the strengths. Germany had to complete the plan completely as it was planned. In order for it to be successful since their actions depended on that certain things would happen. Therefore it only needed minor mistake to change the success of Germany. Therefore, women were made to upcycle their old clothes into new garments such as gloves and shorter skirts etc. This highlights how tough the times were straight after the war where there were major shortages of fabric and clothes. However once the rations started to lift in the 1950s, clothes became increasingly cheaper and widely available. For men straight after the war, fashion was not too different from how it was before, this being a single breasted suit for day wear. • 34. Post-World War II America The image of post World War II America is, generally speaking, identified as an era of wholesomeness revolving around the nuclear family, the emergence of the suburban middle class and most importantly social conformity. This period was also marked as one of oppression towards those that did match the image of a good American citizen such as African Americans, working women, and homosexuals. All of these groups, more or less, were subjected to legislation that blatantly limited their freedoms as American citizens as well as demonization through the media and propagandist images and news stories. For these oppressed groups, the mid 20th century almost appeared to be a completely different world in comparison to the early 1900s when these restrictions weren t in place. ...
