Theatre/Cinema: Rent (2005, Taye Diggs Rosario Dawson) On February 15, 2016, I watched the
movie rent. The setting of the movie is based on a documentary of the AIDS epidemic in the late
1980s and early 1990s. The movie theme depicts eight individuals who struggle with poverty,
homosexuality, death, and hardships of life in New York City. I believe Rent did a great job utilizing
the costumes, lighting, and props and furniture to get the message across. The costumes in the movie
reflect the character s personality and developed a vision for the audience. For the most part the
women wore brighter colors, such as red, orange, and animal print, while the men stuck to the basic

Similarities And Weaknesses Of The Civil War
The Civil War The North and South had many different weaknesses and strengths at the beginning of
the Civil War in 1861. This essay will compare the political, economic, social and military strengths
and weaknesses of the North and South at the beginning of the Civil War. There were many reasons
for the War of the States to be fought including, but not limited to slavery, separation of states, the
Constitution, and the way of life. The North and South had many political strengths and weaknesses.
The South had an amazing fighting spirit because they were fighting to preserve their way of life.

the rebelling states if necessary. For the first time in American history, Lincoln suspended the writ of
habeas corpus, the right of prisoners to a trial, ergo the Union could arrest citizens who might have

well aware of their lack of validity. Now fake news appears on our social media outlets. Many of the
perpetrators of fake news don t try to hide it and a quick look at their domain name will be a dead
giveaway. However, some individuals would rather disguise their domain to look like a reputable
source such as CBS or NPR. Something must be done about this problem, fake news has the potential

Gender Roles In Gilda
Gilda (1946, Charles Vidor) is a story about two ex lovers that reunite when his employer marries the
girl he once dated. In this film, there s a presence of power. Not only between gender, but between
class. One of the first examples in the scene given is the class and power of the two men, Ballin
Mundson and Johnny Farrell. The second example is Gilda verse the boys. While Johnny and
Mundson have a battle of authority and status. Gilda battles being dehumanized and objectified. The
only trick is she knows how to spin in and use it to her advantage giving her an upper hand. Power is
something they all want it is never distributed evenly, yet Gilda knows how to get it. In the boudoir
scene, there are indications that there is about to be a change the dynamic. The first shot of this
sequence shows the lobby to Munson s home. Mundson is a man of extravagance. There are marble

qualities. The room has fresh flowers on the table, spirals patterns of the rails of the stairs, and soft

mean trials and tribulation of a friendship. Which refers to Gilda s entrance back into his life. Her
marriage to Mundson is an obstacle that they re friendship must overcome or be consumed

In the 1947 the Cold war began with two superpowers, the United States and the USSR interested in
Eastern Europe. Different Ideologies Communism and Capitalism became the issues in different
countries. They fought over which countries would go to communism or capitalism. These countries
included Greece and Turkey, the Suez crisis, The Vietnam war and one of the biggest proxy wars that
still have tension today, the Korean War. The Korean war between communist north Korea and their
allies were the USSR and China while South Korea was an ally of the United States. The war started
in June of 1950 through July 1953, even though it lasted 3 years it became one of the deadliest wars in
modern history, US believed that if the USSR were to take Korea that ¾ of the world would become
communism and so through the US containment policy, they became involved so communism would
not spread.
The reason the United states decided to take action was because a non communist country was getting
attacked by a communist country and their duty was to interfere and stop the attack. The soviets also
wanted to intervene in countries like Greece and Turkey. This brought up the Marshall plan. The
Marshall plan was a European Recovery Program that gave assistance to European countries to help
them grow and prevent communism. The US also brought in the Truman Doctrine which was an
American external dogma to counter the spread of USSR political ideas such as communism.
