In The Year 2017 Morals Have Changed All Around The World
In the year 2017 morals have changed all around the world and young people are growing up quicker
than they have ever before. As children grow up parents try to build their foundation with stable and
decent examples. Children love watching movies and are quick to learn and pick up on the characters
actions. Disney is known to be kid friendly so a lot of parents let their kids watch these movies
without realizing that they contain messages for children that are inadequate for them. Specifically,
The Little Mermaid sends messages to children that could frame their beliefs on how maturing works
in a negative manner. Throughout this lesson we have read three versions of The Little Mermaid and
only one seems to be acceptable for young girls ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She then travels to the surface of the water where she first sees Eric and instantly falls in love. Ariel
creates this separation between her dad by going behind his back. This message is for the adults
because with an oppressive relationship children are likely to rebel. Since mostly young girls watch
The Little Mermaid this message comes off as they should go behind their parents back to get
something that they want.
The Disney story lacks feminism and the maturity level needed for young girls in 2017. When King
Triton finds out about Ariel s unforgivable actions Ariel realizes that she must choose between these
two men. In the article Is Disney s The Little Mermaid a Feminist Film or Not it talks about how some
people can see how The little Mermaid lacks feminism because Ariel chooses to change herself for a
man. Then the immature image that Disney shows young girls is that Ariel rejects her father s culture
to embrace Eric s culture (Trites 2). The maturity level of how to handle situations between the two
stories is evident. Disney s underlying message is that Children, especially girls, can gain an identity
independent from their parents by becoming dependent on someone else , while in Andersen s story
the mermaid s quest is for a soul and she searches for answers in a less malicious way.
In the stages of young girls lives they are building their foundation of

Understanding Piaget Theory And Information Processing Theory
The study of Cognitive theories has many different aspects that have been debated many years ago.
Developmental psychologists try to explain cognitive development approaches which describe the
process of human s thought. One of the developmental psychologist who studied on the area of
cognitive was Jean Piaget. Jean Piaget a Swiss psychologist was the first developmental researcher
who has extensive research on cognitive development. In addition, the revolution of Jean Piaget s
cognitive theory has changed the development psychology forever. In fact, although this theory is one
of the most influential theories that have had a major impact on child s cognitive development, many
developmental psychologist has been criticized it as well(Miller,2007). Therefore, the limitations of
this theory made the developmental psychologists thinking of information processing theory might
complete Piaget s Theory(Miller,2007). Information processing theory is another theory that was
engaged in the era of cognitive development. It is possible to better understand Piaget theory and
Information Processing theory by comparing several important aspects of developmental psychology:
nature of humans, quantitative or qualitative, and nature or nurture.
Piaget Cognitive Theory
To begin with, Piaget s cognitive theory has four stages. According to Miller,2011 she states that
Piaget described each stage and referred them to the ability of human understanding. First stage is the
sensorimotor stage

The Vermont Murder Case
The case of The Vermont Murder.
Vanessa Vermont, a gorgeous woman found dead in her own kitchen, laying on the floor with a fatal
head wound on the back of her head. Just recently she bought a new broiler and need and outlet over
her kitchen counter, something her husband could do. And it is right where she was murdered. There is
also a woman s briefcase on the floor near the kitchen. Which means Mrs. Vermont was leaving,
which in turn could ve enraged the husband.
My report will show that Mr. Vermont killed his wife Vanessa Vermont in cold blood.
My first piece of evidence is the suitcase on the floor just outside the kitchen. It has flowers on it
which means it is Mrs. Vermont s suitcase. As a rule this shows Mrs. Vermont was leaving her
husband. Mr. Vermont saw the suitcase, confronted Mrs. Vermont about it and killed her. ... Show

found out Mrs. Vermont was leaving him, he ripped the phone out of the receiver and hit Mrs.
Vermont on the back of the head with it Killing her out of pure rage.
My third piece of evidence is the kitchen. It is an absolute mess. There are broken plates, newspapers
everywhere, an overturned chair, and the phone ripped out of the receiver. As a rule that means there
was a struggle or fight before the blow to the head. When Mr. Vermont confronted Mrs. Vermont

Talking to the Enemy
Psych 253 Book Review: Talking to the Enemy
Richard Marion
In his book Talking to the Enemy (2010), Scott Atran uses his experiences in the countries often
perceived as the origin of most global terrorist actions against the United States combined with
scientific proof from a wide variety of sources to argue for new methods of understanding and
stopping terrorism as it exists today. Though many examples and analyses of terrorist acts are
examined in the book along with many different explanations for the social and psychological
mechanisms that may cause them, one of the central ideas is the power of social bonds to drive people
to commit actions that they never would have considered alone. This paper will analyze Atran s

say whether the students relative willingness to kill non Muslims is resultant from their perception
of non Muslims as less like them or if it has been drawn directly from the teachings they have
received. It should be noted that another finding of social psychology is that attitudes and behaviour
are generally not strongly correlated (Eibach, 2012) and that when taken alone the interviews do not
show a direct correlation with violent actions. However, other references that are made both in the
book and within Atran s research does lead to a more conclusive link. Ultimately despite the weakness
of its small sample size and the fact that it only shows an explicit attitude rather than behaviours that
might be resultant from that attitude, the research is persuasive in that it shows a clear link between
the degree to which outsiders are seen as being unlike the students and the degree to which they
display hostile attitudes towards outsiders. In addition, this has been shown in a way that is highly
relevant to ideas and facts presented in Talking to the Enemy, in that the students from the JI affiliated
madrasa were far more likely than the others to endorse violence, and in fact within the same study it
is stated that JI linked madrasa attendance rates of the jihadists that took part in... (a number of prolific
bombings) are 19 times greater than the highest estimated rates of the general population.

Whaling In Japan
Part III: What I Learned Whaling has become a popular topic with in the last few decades. It has been
going on for centuries and was finally band in 1931 (Matera 3). But this didn t stop the Japanese at all.
By researching my topic I found that I did not know a lot about whaling, which made me want to dig
even deeper. At the beginning of this process, I looked into Whaling. I already knew that there was a
war going on between Japan and the United States because of the show Whale Wars, but I didn t know
any background information. I was always curious before but now I actually had a reason to do
research. In Part I of this project it asked me to describe everything I knew, assumed, and imagined
about whaling. During Part one I knew that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I went to the Scottsdale Community College library website and searched whaling. All the sources I
chosen was through Academic Search Premier. Every thing that I read put me in a new perspective
about my topic. I learned that whaling has been going on since the eleventh century, and commercial
whaling became illegal in 1931 (Matera 3). I found out that the United States actually whaled at some
point but it was not for the meat, it was for the whale oil. During the eighteenth and nineteenth
centuries, whaling started to become a problem. During this time Japan started to be the main whaling
country, this is when everything flipped upside down ( Greenpeace Says Japan Ready for Whaling. ).
In another source I was reading, I found out that in the 1980s, eight countries joined the International
Whaling Commission (IWC) to stop the world from whaling (Hyder 10). I also looked more into the
Sea Shepherds. The Sea Shepherds are a full volunteer based program to go out into the artic and try
and save as many whales as they can. Every year they go out and face Japan s whaling fleet, which are
five boats against the SS three. I learned that Japan got very hostile in the last couple tours (Kita 3).
They were ramming into the SS boats, even the little speedboat, which was an eighth of the size of
their ship. When I was reading a different article called Whales , I learned that whales eat around forty
thousand krill a day and if whales

The Importance Of Long Distance Communication
Something else that was important with communication that was mentioned in most of the studies,
was openness, openness was positively correlated with relational satisfaction says Maguire and
Kinney (2010:41). To ensure a strong foundation, strong communication is important and can lead to a
healthy and successful relationship. Communicating not only issues but good things about the
relationship itself. For example relational savoring may be an effective tool for preventing declines in
relationship satisfaction , says Borelli (2015:1103 ) In this study, couples who were able to savor their
relationship had a higher satisfaction rating than those who did not. Talking about all things can only
lead to strengthening a long distance relationship and that is why is is an important part of a successful
long distance relationship.
Next in a study by Borelli (2015), some conclusions were found in the study that contributed to
successful long distance relationships. First, physical separations can lead to low security in a long
distance relationship, so being sure that each partner feels loved and secure in the relationship. This
feeling of security can protect the quality of their relationship from the stresses inherent to LDRs (long
distance relationships) , says Borelli (2015: 1085) . Next, couples who had higher satisfaction in the
partnership were more comfortable to share and focus on feelings with each other. Lastly, ensuring the
relationship satisfaction is secure and

The Increase Of Mass Killings
A rising issue in our country today is the increase of mass killings that occur. More specifically, why
are the perpetrators for these horrific events inclined to go through with these actions? Why did
Dylann Roof kill nine innocent people at the Mother Emanuel African American Episcopal Church in
Charleston, South Carolina? Why did Adam Lanza murder twenty first graders and six adults at the
Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut? Although we cannot fully answer these
questions, we can determine why these events happen so easily; primarily because of our gun control
laws. With the increase of gun violence in our country, we may be able to reduce this issue by
restricting laws pertaining to the accessibility and ability to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

From its inception two centuries ago, the renowned Mother Emanuel has endured relentless pain and
hardship to emerge as a beacon of faith and fortitude for civil rights in this country, particularly in the
south. It has the distinction of being the oldest African Methodist Episcopal (AMC) church in the
United States. The church was founded in 1816 for people of color formally breaking away from
Charleston s white dominated Methodist Episcopal church. It was burned, rebuilt after the Civil War
and adopted the name Emanuel meaning God is with us . Ever conscious of its storied past, Dr. Martin
Luther King as well as other civil rights activists used Mother Emanuel to promote civil rights
(Huggins). There is a long history of violence against black churches, particularly in the south
(Resnick and Alvarez). Dylann Roof, a native South Carolinian, was well aware of Mother Emanuel s
history. A manifesto written by Roof was discovered shortly after this tragedy and offers some insight
on his distorted views. Roof never finished 10th grade or took an American history course. He wrote
that America s history of slavery was based on myths and lies, using the fact that not all Southern
whites owned slaves and claims to have read slave narratives that were positive toward slaveowners.
His twisted views are based on a white supremacy ideology and any reference of it. He followed the
doctrine of a South Carolina based hate group

Evaluation Of A Correlational Study Design Essay
The present study contains a correlational study design as well as a between subject design. A
correlational study design will allow the researchers to adequately answer the first research question.
The correlational study design allows the researchers to identify and interpret any correlational trends
regarding mental health effects and the success of transitioning amongst the participants. The
dependent variable of the first research question includes the success of transitioning (employment,
education, residential status, and communication after high school) and mental health
(depression/anxiety, sleep, obesity, and physical activity). There is no independent variable in the first
research question due to the correlational design. A between subject design will allow the researchers
to effectively answer the second research question. This type of design matches participants based on
a related variable; groups with or without employment to further examine any differences that may
exist between the two groups. The dependent variable of the second research question is the level of
mental health. The independent variable of this study is the two groups that the researchers are
exploring: employment group vs. non employment group. Participants The present study will include
a target goal of 100 individuals with DS between the ages of 17 to 40 years old, and their parent or

Climate change has been a natural phenomenon happening for centuries, for example, the different

As the difference of the amount of CO2 emitted had increased greatly, and the effects of this has
flourished throughout the world, it is without a doubt that global warming is one of the main issues we
must deal with.
Nationally, in May 2011, Los Angeles was rated the second most polluted city out of 24 cities
(citymayors.com), due to the ozone and air pollution, and many citizens suffer asthma and other health
hazardous problems because of the pollution. Also, mnn.com states that LA Long Beach Riverside
was ranked #3 in long term particle pollution, #1 in ozone pollution and #4 in short term particle
pollution . The problem may be arising from the vast usage of cars, coal fired power plants which
consumes more energy and electricity etc. According to sciencedaily.com, Dr. Weaver mentions that
Air pollution shortens lifespan, it lands our children and elderly in emergency rooms, and it can make
children and teens more vulnerable to lung disease for the rest of their lives. We need to stop this
environmental threat.
How to we prevent global warming? How have people began to take action? What can we do to
switch the life threatening statistics? Through our healthy lifestyles and courses of action on a
personal, national, and global basis. A healthy lifestyle refers to an individual s role to prevent global

I claim that Eli Whitney is falsely labeled as one of America s great men. Whitney was chosen to
construct military weapons, but he had no prior experience assembling anything of that nature. He
signed a contract with the government on June 14, 1798 stating that he would deliver ten thousand
stands of arms as his fifteen month deadline approached. Rumors of war were roaring, but Whitney
still took one year to deliver his first round of weapons. He did not complete his contract until almost
nine years had passed. During the decade it took him to produce his end of the bargain, he spoke of
discovering a new and efficient technique. He said that by creating an engraving on a copper plate he

A Project On Nickel Mine Opportunity
Project Procurement Description
The project, referred to as Nickel Mine Opportunity is a product of a comprehensive of options work
that led to a preliminary feasibility study which further farmed the project concept to an approximate
accuracy range of +/ 25 percent. The target schedule for the project is approximately 12 months. For
the project to be approved, the client holds the opinion that a contracting company engaged in the
preparation of a feasibility study must develop a study that define scope and cost to an accuracy of +/
15 percent.
The undertaking of the project will involve one or more development contractors who will work
closely with the lead contractor. Close collaboration among different contractors working on a project
is an effective way of achieving project objectives within set timelines (Binder, 2007). The execution
of the project will be undertaken by the contractor after approval via an appropriate procurement
contract. The client proposes a target schedule of project execution to start of production at
approximately 48 months.
Te concept of the scope of work is defined by the location and infrastructure elements that encompass
the project. The physical location of the Nickel Mine is approximately 1000km inland in the country
of Kumahatata, located in the African continent. Key infrastructural components that encompass the
project include offices, accommodation, and an aerodrome. The location and preliminary design of the
aerodrome is complete.

A Report On The Snowden Leaks Essay
2.2 The Snowden Leaks
2.2.1 History
The government has a responsibility to protect its citizens from terrorism. Since 9/11, this threat has
been constantly growing and the government has taken steps to respond to this threat. The first of
these steps was to increase resources dedicated to identify and prosecute known and suspect terrorists
and would be terrorists to try and gain more information about possible attacks, and serve justice to
those guilty of terrorism. The next step was to restructure existing anti terror organizations (such as
the FBI) and to develop new tools, mostly in the form of legislation, to help combat this growing
threat. However, while implementing these measures, the government also made efforts to protect the
rights and privacy of Americans (https://www.justice.gov/archive/opa/pr/2008/September/08 nsd

However, recent terrorist strikes such as the San Bernardino attack have been carried out following the
widespread availability of encrypted devices for consumers which makes it harder for the government
to collect information regarding these attacks from first hand evidence without support from the
companies involved in creating these products. This cooperation between the government and the tech
companies was undermined by the leak of documents detailing mass surveillance of millions of people
both inside and outside of America by the National Security Agency which led to companies feeling

Critical Assessment of 3 Causes of World War 1
Critical Assessment of 3 Causes of World War 1
Nationalism is being a strong supporter of the rights and interests of one s country. It was very high in
the 19th century and nations which had not obtained independence by 1900 were determined to do so
as it gave groups of subject peoples the idea of forming independent nations of their own.
In 1815, the Congress of Vienna took place. This was a conference held in Vienna in Austria between
ambassadors from the major powers in Europe. This conference left people under the control of local

The program called for autonomy and language rights but most importantly it asserted that Croats and
Serbs were a single people. This display of unity alarmed ruling circles but had little practical impact

The ethnic tensions that were present in Croatia in the late 19th century were accompanied by a break

Serbia s foreign trade which consisted mostly of pigs driven to slaughterhouses in Hungary. By 1905,

Because we live in a modern age of much technological advancements, many students in universities
are looking to see if it is still worth buying physical textbooks or to utilize digital formats like e
textbooks as a means of efficiency or even as a way to cut costs of paying for expensive textbooks. To
understand which format is more effective, we need to study the different formats and see what are the
strengths and weaknesses found in the two different formats. This paper will examine research done
by multiple researchers and use their research to help find the format that best helps students to study
and retain material learned from their textbook
Defining E textbooks and Traditional Textbooks
E textbooks are often defined as texts that are able to be accessed on electronic devices. Most research
has defined them as texts that are digital and accessed via electronic screens (Rockinson Szapkiw,
Courdoff, Carter, Bennett, 2012), in which there two formats that exist. The first format is the page
fidelity e textbook and second is the reflowable digital e textbook. The page fidelity e textbook is a
simple scanned picture of the print version of a book, which can usually come in the form of a PDF
(Rockinson Szapkiw, Courdoff, Carter, Bennett, 2012). The page fidelity e textbook has no

Impact Of Human Geography
The Impact Of Human Geography
Does physical or human geography have more of an impact on lives? The question has been asked by
many geographers and there are many strong examples for both sides. Human geography plays a
greater role in human development by changing the way people act by being more obedient and
having freedom and having a cultures that are unique , while physical geography is the outside
environment. The outside environment is not as important since humans are sheltered in homes.
People s culture make people s lifestyle different and unique. Cultural convergence is when one
culture comes in contact with another. This makes people have more diverse and and modern cultures.
Cultural convergence helps the spread of culture, like sports, which has led to the development of the
Olympics. The opposite of cultural convergence is cultural divergence, which is the restriction of a
culture coming in contact to other cultures and other influences. Because of cultural divergence, there
are still pure cultures, like in Africa. These cultures had to make advancements ... Show more content

A dictatorship is a type of government where one person leads the territory, and this person is usually
born into this position. An example of a dictatorship today is North Korea, which is dictated by Kim
Jong Un who uses fear to lead his country. This makes the people under the dictator more obedient.
When the leader is voted for by the citizens, that government is a called a democracy. This lets the
citizens have more control of the government. Democracy is important because, leaders cannot abuse
their power and become power hungry. Another type of government is a monarchy, which is a
government with a king, queen, or pharaoh. This is one of the first types of government and
influenced the government style of dictatorship. Monarchy created different social classes

Napoleon Warfare Compared To Warfare
Is warfare in the Napoleonic era fundamentally similar to warfare practiced today? The Napoleonic
era foresaw the potential for use of a variety of arms, improved military tactics and strategies;
however, failing to utilize the approach and maximize use of tactical resources to warfare is an
illustration of ineffective tactical leadership. The Napoleonic era is fundamentally similar to warfare
practiced today; specifically the integration of combined arms, adaptability of basic military tactics
and strategies, consideration of operational environment and logistical planning on the battlefield.
These are key points Napoleon integrated during his era and today s leaders continue to consider and
effectively utilize during warfare. Incorporating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The victor of warfare in both eras could very well be determined by who has the best logistical
execution. A very clear illustration of this is shown in Napoleon s invasion of Russia. His lack of
consideration for ensuring the troops were supplied with basic needs proved disastrous. Supplying a
force the size of Napoleon s army was a logistical nightmare for the French command. He essentially
overextended his supply train and left his army hung out to dry. Perhaps the biggest influence the
Napoleonic era has on today s warfare excluding strategic improvement and tactics is recognizing the
impact of poor logistical planning. Whether it s the war in Vietnam, Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi
Freedom, or Operation Enduring Freedom victories in war cannot be achieved without providing
sound logistical, operational, tactical, and strategical support. In today s warfare, we are still over
stretching military logistic units and military forces that rely on contractors to provide many functions.
It is important to note a shortcoming to each of the previously mentioned wars was a significant
increase in cost to the government regarding logistics; however, none were considered failures as in
the Napoleonic era. A successful logistical execution will provide a country strategic flexibility,

Influence of Television Programs on Children
Kayla Raguse Joseph Grabowski Rhetoric Composition 1 11 October 2010 Influence of Television
Programs on Children Before there was television, children had options of playing outside, playing
board games, or doing simple activities like reading or drawing. Now that TV exists to a high
extremity, it has become apparent that nowadays these children shows have surpassed physical and
intellectual activities and have now become a way of life for children. We now see children wearing
clothing, playing video games, playing with toys, and watching movies featuring famous characters
that started off as mere creations that starred on half hour to one hour long programs. Whether it is a

determine whether or not watching television to great amounts is affecting the eating habits and
psyche of young children. A study published by US Journal Pediatrics found that more psychological
difficulties dealing with peers, emotional issues, and hyperactivity are likely to develop with children
who spend numerous hours daily in front of television or playing video games (Yahoo! News n.pag).
Researchers studied 1,013 children ages 10 to 11 and had them complete a 25 point questionnaire, a
self report about daily hours watching television or playing games, and measured their physical
activity using an accelerometer in which the kids wore around their waist for seven days (Yahoo!

did not spend a lot of time in front of a screen, (Yahoo! News n.pag). Even if children are physically
active but still spend multiple hours watching television or playing video games, they are still at risk

How Did Valley Forge Affect The American Revolution
Valley Forge directly affected the American Revolution because it made the Continental Army

The Stereotypes Of African Americans
African Americans have been oppressed ever since slavery was abolished and it seems to be a never
ending cycle. White Americans oppressed the black population because they needed a way to remind
everyone of their so called supremacy. They did this through many different ways but the most
common were by theatrical performances. Ever since the minstrelsy shows the negative stereotypes of
African Americans seem to keep growing. According to the book Toms, Coons, Mulattoes, Mammies,
and Bucks, in almost every American movie in which a black had appeared, filmmakers had been
trying to maintain the myth that Negroes were naturally rhythmic and natural born entertainers.
There are many stereotypes that the film industry will never get tired of enforcing. In 2002 the film
Paid In Full was released. Paid In Full was a film about a young man who was working in a cleaning
shop but he encounters a drug dealer. The drug dealer convinces him to join and he becomes one of
the top leaders of the drug cartel. He also recruits his friends and they join him as well. The uncle of
the protagonist asks him for money but he refuses to give him some. The uncle kidnaps Ace, the
protagonist s brother, and eventually kills him because Ace was not able to recruit the amount of
money that his uncle was demanding. This film sends the negative message that African Americans
will go to any extend, betraying their own family members, in order to obtain power and money.

Alexander The Great, Son Of Philip II Of Macedon
Alexander the Great, son of Philip II of Macedon is one of history s most controversial figures in
relation to his character and methodology. His legacy is a subject still discussed and assessed by many
scholars, as it is one that has left its mark on the Ancient World and its stigma, positive or negative, is
still felt today around the world. However, there is no controversy that Alexander was an individual
with a plethora of abilities and traits that understood and assessed situations, and his risky, yet mostly
calculated actions helped him establish his title of being considered Great . His legacy and greatness
undoubtedly extend from his mighty military campaigns and his his glorification during and after his
death, as well as his potential administration ideals, and his being the catalyst for the foundation of the
Hellenistic era. In his short, yet astonishing career, Alexander managed to defeat the Persian empire, a
superpower forty two times the size of the united Greece he led. There is no controversy about
Alexander s military genius and Burn says no soldier in history is more indisputably great than
Alexander. He started, of course, with the advantage of Philip s army and he did have a number of
reverses, such as the march through the Gedrosian Desert. His genius, however, is apparent in every

According to the Anita Gore, the health department spokeswoman, this hold will be necessary for
making sure the treatment of exciting microorganisms in the product is done successfully. She further
explained that a temporary hold on the product, at a certain pH level, will control the harmful
microorganisms (NBC, 2013).
If a large number of people would be affected by this issue, there would be more cases of chronic
respiratory problems, such as asthma, which is already a huge concern in itself. Any respiratory
problem, if untreated, can become fatal in no time.
The Primary intervention keeps the patients from being exposed to the disease. These include, wearing
a mask while being around the factory; staying indoors when the level of the irritants are high. The
secondary intervention slows down and possibly stops the progress of disease. These include, visiting

Sistine Chapel Essay By Michelangelo
The Sistine Chapel is one of the most beautiful artworks known to man, but who knew that so many
secrets could be hidden in the artwork that covers the ceilings and walls of the sacred church. The
Sistine Chapel was falling apart and after getting it fixed church needed someone to decorate the
inside with the most intelligent strokes of a paint brush. After searching Pope Julius ll chose the
famous artist Michelangelo to paint the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Michelangelo may or may not
have wanted to paint the Sistine Chapel for the Pope. Symbols are everywhere in art; Michelangelo
was able to put large and even some insulting symbols on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.
Michelangelo Di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni was the full name of the famous artist we all call by

lived with his parents and four siblings. Michelangelo s mother became sick when he was an infant

10 Things I Hate About You Belonging
Belonging and acceptance can be found in the relationships between people. This is clearly evident in
the relationships in the taming of the shrew and 10 things I hate about you. It is shown through these
relationships that we can see characters accepted and therefore feel a sense of belonging. Acceptance
and belonging can be shown in the taming of the shrew by the relationship between siblings; that
being Bianca and Katerina. Shakespeare uses juxtaposition which can be seen in act 1 scene 1 when
Hortensio describes the sisters and again when Katerina is slapping Bianca and ties her to a chair. The
use of juxtaposition, helps the audience to feel sympathy towards a character and deepen our
understanding of the character s personality. The alienation of Katerina is highlighted through the
crass treatment she receives from the unimpressive series of suitors in Padua, the way that her father
clearly prefers her younger sister and his overall view of marriage as a way of gaining wealth.
Therefore enforcing only through acceptance can we belong. ... Show more content on

Babbitt s Deformed Conscience
Babbitt, by Sinclair Lewis, demonstrates a sound heart kept beneath a deformed conscience. Babbitt,
the main character, decides to follow his sound heart, but soon realizes he cannot overcome the
corrupt principles of his middle class culture. The bourgeois conscience influences Babbitt to value
success and a superior reputation, but Babbitt s sound heart begins to refuse conformity through
rebellion. He temporarily abandons this deformed conscience, but he cannot change his lifestyle
completely. Babbitt s tendency to follow the deformed conscience emphasizes his conformity and
desperation to belong. Babbitt s sound heart is faint underneath his compliance because his identity
lies within this system of corrupt morals. Babbitt cares about his good reputation within the Zenith

Training CDs were used by the schedulers to familiarize themselves with the new program. They were
able to take these CDs home and were paid for a total of five hours of training. New computers were
purchased for each office scheduler and also for the on call scheduler. A networking system was set up
with a router and wireless networking software. Evaluation of the new program is the last step in the
decision making model. The program had to be evaluated to determine its success in solving the
problem. The program has proven to be very effective and has resulted in a higher efficiency rate and
higher patient satisfaction. The program has also cut back considerably on the man power and time
needed to accomplish weekly payroll and billing. The conclusion is that this software has been a very
positive investment and there are no regrets as to purchasing and implementing the program. A
decision making process based on critical thought and data leads to good decisions. Some decisions
affect several people and some only a few. The scheduling decision at Direct HomeHealth Care

How Does Crime And Punishment Relate To Salvation
Redemption: Salvation through Suffering
Jesus once stated, The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a
ransom for many (Matthew 20:28). In other words, one must endure suffering in order to achieve
redemption. Like all of us, The Son of Man, Jesus, was put on planet Earth with a purpose of life. His
destiny was not to follow with others, but rather to serve as a trailblazer, and lead a path to salvation.
Along this path, he spread his wisdom and values to his disciples in hopes to exhibit goodness and
purity. Sacrificing his own life proved his immense selflessness, which inspired decades of
generations.

The Civil War The North and South had many different weaknesses and strengths at the beginning of
the Civil War in 1861. This essay will compare the political, economic, social and military strengths

for the War of the States to be fought including, but not limited to slavery, separation of states, the

The South had an amazing fighting spirit because they were fighting to preserve their way of life.
They were also defending their home against the northern invaders. While the North was just fighting
to continue the Union, and were not as inspired. Furthermore the North had the advantage of President
Lincoln being from the North, when the South did not. The South had less states in its Confederacy
with only a mere fifteen states, versus the North who had nineteen states in their Union. Lincoln
believed that secession was illegal under the law of the Constitution and he would declare war against
the rebelling states if necessary. For the first time in American history, Lincoln suspended the writ of

Compare and Contrast of the Arguments in Huntington s The...
Samuel Huntington has made famous his thesis the clash of civilizations , which was developed in his
article in Foreign Affairs in 1993 and in the book that followed, in which the author expanded his
thesis and reaffirmed the validity of his theory after the success and controversy that followed the

The current evolution of the world after the Cold War led to the assertion of multiple civilizations; The
balance of power among civilizations changes and the relative influence of the Midwest declines,
while the non Western civilizations reaffirm the value of their own culture.
Samuel Huntington sees an emerging world organized on the basis of civilizations . Societies that
share cultural affinities cooperate with each other and the efforts to force a society into another
civilization will fail; countries gather around the leading States of their civilization. This description of
the process of new structures of international relations that Huntington sees developing, leads him to
consider that the greatest risks of violence and confrontation lie in the Westerns claims to universality,
which are leading them to increasingly get into conflict with other civilizations, particularly Islam and
China; local conflicts, especially between Muslims and non Muslims, generate new alliances and lead
to an escalation of violence, which will usually lead the dominant states to make an attempt to stop
them.
On the other hand, Edward Said argues that the concept of clash of civilizations is a myth whose
purpose is to justify an aggressive attitude in the minds of American and form a base for American and
Western aggression against China and the Islamic world and culture.

They are also anticipating on investing about 5 billion in the India market around the 2020 timeframe
to strengthen their hold on the market there as well. Pepsi has the changes to work on with the
consumers wanting to have safer healthier food choices. They are looking at local farming and the
government to help them locate farms near their production areas to save money, but also have a better
product. Pepsi is really working on trying to keep up with the new trends in taste preferences of their
customers. The Threats for Pepsi appears to be from all the other national brands, and new brands on
the block trying to take over the snack or beverage industry.
The other issues is the generic brands that are a much cheaper choice for the consumer as many are
watching their spending and going for cheaper and healthier choices.
The other threats are the water issues and the poor quality in many locations not just in the United
States, but internationally as well. Water is the major ingredient used at Pepsi for their beverage
products. This issues alone is causing the cost and the profit to affect the company.
The labor wage increase is rising and with the new mandated minimum wage hikes and the workers

Laptop Multitasking
PSY 121
QALMRI
Sana, Weston, Cepeda (2013), Laptop multitasking hinders learning for both users and nearby peers.
Computers Education 62 (2013): 24 31.
Question: When referring to the article by Sana, Weston, Cepeda (2013), the reader will find both a
specific and broad question. The broad question being asked is whether or not memory retention is
hindered by multitasking. The specific questions being asked are whether or not students who use
laptops to multitask in class experience lower levels of information retention and if the multitasking of
some students negatively effects the memory retention of their surrounding peers.
Alternative: This study has one of four alternatives: multitasking could have no effect on learning in
all circumstances, it could only have an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Logic: If, in all circumstances, multitasking does not impact memory, then test scores will not be
affected by laptop use in class. If direct multitasking affects memory then test scores will be lower in
experiment 1. If indirect multitasking effects memory then test scores will be lower in experiment 2.
Method: In Experiment 1, 44 undergraduate university students were chosen to participate in an
introductory psychology course lecture accompanied by a questionnaire. Only students with access to
a personal laptop were asked to join. Based on a screening process, four participants were removed
from the study. The experiment was carried out in a classroom setting under the condition that
participants had no prior knowledge or other disqualifying qualities. The materials used were a power
point lecture, a multiple choice test, laptops, instructions for multitasking, a consent form, and a
questionnaire. They were randomly seated and received a set of instructions as well as a consent form.
Students were asked to take notes while listening to the lecture. Half of the participants were asked to

The Portrayal Of Nurses In The Media
The purpose of this paper is to explain how nurses are portrayed in the media and how it affects both
how the population views nurses and people considering entering the nursing field. Nurses in the
media are often portrayed as subservient to the doctors, having affairs with doctors, or as sex symbols
(often seen in music videos or as Halloween costumes). Nurses are not really shown to have that much
power or autonomy in working with patients. We are also not shown performing some of the tasks we
perform on a day to day basis such as IV starts, monitoring patients for reactions from blood
transfusions or chemotherapy or even trying to be the referee between the patient and family members
in the case of disagreement over the plan of care. According ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

When I tell people that I am a nurse I get mixed responses and reactions. Some people ask if I just
empty bedpans or change adult depends all night. I also get the question of why didn t I just become a
doctor because all the nurses do is follow the doctor s orders. In that instance it then becomes my job
to inform people of exactly what my job entails. According to Meuhlbauer (2012), The overarching
theme was that nurses need to be proactive in influencing the public s image of the profession (p.21).
The negative portrayal of nurses also contributes to the current nursing shortage because no one wants
to work a job they feel is not respected. A lot of patients only feel comfortable if they hear information
come directly from the doctor, not from the nurse. The theme is Why be a nurse, when you can be the
doctor? Blais (2016) noted that as nursing education evolved and nurses began to understand more
about what constituted the practice of nursing, the boundaries expanded. During the 1970s and 1980s
nurses began to seek more autonomy in the practice of nursing, particularly with regards to physicians
and hospital administration (p.315). Many Americans spend most of their free time watching
television. Therefore, the best way to change the negative portrayals of nurses would be to use these
same sources of media

The Proxy War And The Korean War
Proxy Wars.
In the 1947 the Cold war began with two superpowers, the United States and the USSR interested in
Eastern Europe. Different Ideologies Communism and Capitalism became the issues in different
countries. They fought over which countries would go to communism or capitalism. These countries
included Greece and Turkey, the Suez crisis, The Vietnam war and one of the biggest proxy wars that
still have tension today, the Korean War. The Korean war between communist north Korea and their
allies were the USSR and China while South Korea was an ally of the United States. The war started
in June of 1950 through July 1953, even though it lasted 3 years it became one of the deadliest wars in
modern history, US believed that if the USSR were to take Korea that ¾ of the world would become
communism and so through the US containment policy, they became involved so communism would
not spread.
The reason the United states decided to take action was because a non communist country was getting
attacked by a communist country and their duty was to interfere and stop the attack. The soviets also
wanted to intervene in countries like Greece and Turkey. This brought up the Marshall plan. The
Marshall plan was a European Recovery Program that gave assistance to European countries to help
them grow and prevent communism. The US also brought in the Truman Doctrine which was an
American external dogma to counter the spread of USSR political ideas such as communism.
Therefore, As Soviets

Tesco Porter Value Chlain and Environmental Analysis
1.
Porter s Value Chain is a chain of activities for a firm operating in a specific industry. According to
Lynch (2003) it can defined as the links between key value adding activities and their interface with
the support activities. The five primary activities namely inbound logistics, operations, outbound
logistics, marketing and sales and service are more important in value adding process than support
activities: firm infrastructure, human resources, technology development and procurement, so focus
will be given to primary activities as they are crucial for distinguishing the strengths and weaknesses
of Tesco s performance. The overall cost leadership strategic management of Tesco is exhibited in its

Tesco is one of the largest food and grocery retailer in the world operating around 4,400 stores (Tesco,
2010). The business environment in which company operates is a highly turbulent competitive
segment, which according to political, social events, performance of global economy and technology
developments is constantly changing. Pestel, SWOT, Porter s Five Forces are frameworks that can be
used to discuss and evaluate recent changes in Tesco external environment.
The waves of globalisation and privatisation have a great impact upon retailing sector, which changed
radically over last two decades. In the past Tesco could be content to sell to a local or regional market
and make a decent income. In today s world all successful businesses are going global in order to
maximise profits and take advantage of untapped markets. The changes, except of globalisation
aspects involve advancements in technology, rise in competitive rivalry, political, legal issues and
marketing.
Technology is playing a vital role in the expansion of global retail. Consumers can find most of the
products they buy online, through various retailers, compare prices, thus choose the best offer.
Companies like Tesco must have a large online presence if they want to be successful over a long
period of time. Tesco must compete with other retailers on price and/or try to provide benefits in other
ways. This lead to

eople have gained from the work of inventors and artist. In, Leonardo s Horse, Waterhouse Hawkins,
and Mahalia Jackson have all gained from the work of inventors and artist. But, they all gained from
work of inventors and artists in different ways. Leonardo was an engineer, an architect, a musician, a
philosopher, and an astronomer. Leonardo became famous by building a ginormous. During the time
when Leonardo was building the horse he had to measure and draw pictures of all the bones and
muscles of a horse. Leonardo collected 58,000 pounds of metal tin and copper which would be heated

  • 3. In The Year 2017 Morals Have Changed All Around The World In the year 2017 morals have changed all around the world and young people are growing up quicker than they have ever before. As children grow up parents try to build their foundation with stable and decent examples. Children love watching movies and are quick to learn and pick up on the characters actions. Disney is known to be kid friendly so a lot of parents let their kids watch these movies without realizing that they contain messages for children that are inadequate for them. Specifically, The Little Mermaid sends messages to children that could frame their beliefs on how maturing works in a negative manner. Throughout this lesson we have read three versions of The Little Mermaid and only one seems to be acceptable for young girls ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She then travels to the surface of the water where she first sees Eric and instantly falls in love. Ariel creates this separation between her dad by going behind his back. This message is for the adults because with an oppressive relationship children are likely to rebel. Since mostly young girls watch The Little Mermaid this message comes off as they should go behind their parents back to get something that they want. The Disney story lacks feminism and the maturity level needed for young girls in 2017. When King Triton finds out about Ariel s unforgivable actions Ariel realizes that she must choose between these two men. In the article Is Disney s The Little Mermaid a Feminist Film or Not it talks about how some people can see how The little Mermaid lacks feminism because Ariel chooses to change herself for a man. Then the immature image that Disney shows young girls is that Ariel rejects her father s culture to embrace Eric s culture (Trites 2). The maturity level of how to handle situations between the two stories is evident. Disney s underlying message is that Children, especially girls, can gain an identity independent from their parents by becoming dependent on someone else , while in Andersen s story the mermaid s quest is for a soul and she searches for answers in a less malicious way. • 4. Understanding Piaget Theory And Information Processing Theory The study of Cognitive theories has many different aspects that have been debated many years ago. Developmental psychologists try to explain cognitive development approaches which describe the process of human s thought. One of the developmental psychologist who studied on the area of cognitive was Jean Piaget. Jean Piaget a Swiss psychologist was the first developmental researcher who has extensive research on cognitive development. In addition, the revolution of Jean Piaget s cognitive theory has changed the development psychology forever. In fact, although this theory is one of the most influential theories that have had a major impact on child s cognitive development, many developmental psychologist has been criticized it as well(Miller,2007). Therefore, the limitations of this theory made the developmental psychologists thinking of information processing theory might complete Piaget s Theory(Miller,2007). Information processing theory is another theory that was engaged in the era of cognitive development. It is possible to better understand Piaget theory and Information Processing theory by comparing several important aspects of developmental psychology: nature of humans, quantitative or qualitative, and nature or nurture. Piaget Cognitive Theory To begin with, Piaget s cognitive theory has four stages. According to Miller,2011 she states that Piaget described each stage and referred them to the ability of human understanding. First stage is the sensorimotor stage ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Though many examples and analyses of terrorist acts are examined in the book along with many different explanations for the social and psychological mechanisms that may cause them, one of the central ideas is the power of social bonds to drive people to commit actions that they never would have considered alone. It should be noted that another finding of social psychology is that attitudes and behaviour are generally not strongly correlated (Eibach, 2012) and that when taken alone the interviews do not show a direct correlation with violent actions. However, other references that are made both in the book and within Atran s research does lead to a more conclusive link. Ultimately despite the weakness of its small sample size and the fact that it only shows an explicit attitude rather than behaviours that might be resultant from that attitude, the research is persuasive in that it shows a clear link between the degree to which outsiders are seen as being unlike the students and the degree to which they display hostile attitudes towards outsiders. In addition, this has been shown in a way that is highly relevant to ideas and facts presented in Talking to the Enemy, in that the students from the JI affiliated madrasa were far more likely than the others to endorse violence, and in fact within the same study it is stated that JI linked madrasa attendance rates of the jihadists that took part in... I found out that the United States actually whaled at some point but it was not for the meat, it was for the whale oil. During the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, whaling started to become a problem. During this time Japan started to be the main whaling country, this is when everything flipped upside down ( Greenpeace Says Japan Ready for Whaling. ). I also looked more into the Sea Shepherds. The Sea Shepherds are a full volunteer based program to go out into the artic and try and save as many whales as they can. Every year they go out and face Japan s whaling fleet, which are five boats against the SS three. I learned that Japan got very hostile in the last couple tours (Kita 3). The Importance Of Long Distance Communication Something else that was important with communication that was mentioned in most of the studies, was openness, openness was positively correlated with relational satisfaction says Maguire and Kinney (2010:41). To ensure a strong foundation, strong communication is important and can lead to a healthy and successful relationship. Communicating not only issues but good things about the relationship itself. For example relational savoring may be an effective tool for preventing declines in relationship satisfaction , says Borelli (2015:1103 ) In this study, couples who were able to savor their relationship had a higher satisfaction rating than those who did not. Talking about all things can only lead to strengthening a long distance relationship and that is why is is an important part of a successful long distance relationship. Next in a study by Borelli (2015), some conclusions were found in the study that contributed to successful long distance relationships. First, physical separations can lead to low security in a long distance relationship, so being sure that each partner feels loved and secure in the relationship. This feeling of security can protect the quality of their relationship from the stresses inherent to LDRs (long distance relationships) , says Borelli (2015: 1085) . He essentially overextended his supply train and left his army hung out to dry. Perhaps the biggest influence the Napoleonic era has on today s warfare excluding strategic improvement and tactics is recognizing the impact of poor logistical planning. Whether it s the war in Vietnam, Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom, or Operation Enduring Freedom victories in war cannot be achieved without providing sound logistical, operational, tactical, and strategical support. • 49. The Portrayal Of Nurses In The Media The purpose of this paper is to explain how nurses are portrayed in the media and how it affects both how the population views nurses and people considering entering the nursing field. Nurses in the media are often portrayed as subservient to the doctors, having affairs with doctors, or as sex symbols (often seen in music videos or as Halloween costumes). Nurses are not really shown to have that much power or autonomy in working with patients. We are also not shown performing some of the tasks we perform on a day to day basis such as IV starts, monitoring patients for reactions from blood transfusions or chemotherapy or even trying to be the referee between the patient and family members in the case of disagreement over the plan of care. According ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When I tell people that I am a nurse I get mixed responses and reactions. Some people ask if I just empty bedpans or change adult depends all night. I also get the question of why didn t I just become a doctor because all the nurses do is follow the doctor s orders. In that instance it then becomes my job to inform people of exactly what my job entails. According to Meuhlbauer (2012), The overarching theme was that nurses need to be proactive in influencing the public s image of the profession (p.21). The negative portrayal of nurses also contributes to the current nursing shortage because no one wants to work a job they feel is not respected. A lot of patients only feel comfortable if they hear information come directly from the doctor, not from the nurse. The theme is Why be a nurse, when you can be the doctor? Blais (2016) noted that as nursing education evolved and nurses began to understand more about what constituted the practice of nursing, the boundaries expanded. During the 1970s and 1980s nurses began to seek more autonomy in the practice of nursing, particularly with regards to physicians and hospital administration (p.315). Many Americans spend most of their free time watching television. Therefore, the best way to change the negative portrayals of nurses would be to use these same sources of media ... • 50. The Proxy War And The Korean War Proxy Wars. In the 1947 the Cold war began with two superpowers, the United States and the USSR interested in Eastern Europe. Different Ideologies Communism and Capitalism became the issues in different countries. They fought over which countries would go to communism or capitalism. These countries included Greece and Turkey, the Suez crisis, The Vietnam war and one of the biggest proxy wars that still have tension today, the Korean War. The Korean war between communist north Korea and their allies were the USSR and China while South Korea was an ally of the United States. The war started in June of 1950 through July 1953, even though it lasted 3 years it became one of the deadliest wars in modern history, US believed that if the USSR were to take Korea that ¾ of the world would become communism and so through the US containment policy, they became involved so communism would not spread. The reason the United states decided to take action was because a non communist country was getting attacked by a communist country and their duty was to interfere and stop the attack. The soviets also wanted to intervene in countries like Greece and Turkey. This brought up the Marshall plan. The Marshall plan was a European Recovery Program that gave assistance to European countries to help them grow and prevent communism. The US also brought in the Truman Doctrine which was an American external dogma to counter the spread of USSR political ideas such as communism. Therefore, As Soviets ...
