The Comparison Of Animal Pigs
They received a special education, piglets were discouraged from laying with the other animals, pigs
had the right of passage, pigs could wear green ribbons on their tail on sundays.
Boxer was getting old and eventually retired they put him in a horse stall and a couple of days later a
horse slaughter/ glue maker came and got him. Napoleon said it was really a vet that got a new truck
and hasn t been able to repaint it. really the pigs sold Napoleon to the horse slaughter/ glue maker to

They were not working for man, they were working for themselves.
She saw a pig walking on their hind legs.
All animals are equal, some animals are more equal than others.
They saw the pigs in alliance with the humans. The animals couldn t tell the pigs from the humans
because the pigs were starting to act so much like the humans now.
The pigs fooled everyone by having Squealer read to them and describe how what their doing is
helping them a lot more than before. And that their gaining a lot more by what their doing. Nobody
can argue with the facts that are being presented to them.

Disadvantages Of Antitrust Law
Chief Justice Roberts stated courts in the U.S. have historically granted injunctions upon a finding of
infringement since the 19th century. The Antitrust Division in the U.S. also admits a patent owner s
rights to exclude are similar to the rights enjoyed by owners of other forms of private property in the
Antitrust Guidelines for the Licensing of Intellectual Property. Therefore, as a fundamental principle,
antitrust law does not generally prohibit the holder of any other property right from seeking an
injunction to vindicate that right. The FTC has the right to regulate unfair methods of competition and
unfair or deceptive acts or practices under Section 5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act. During the
past two decades, the FTC has been heavily involved in several high profile SEP disputes, including
Dell Computer Corp., N Data, Rambus Inc. v. FTC, Motorola Mobility, and Bosch GmbH. The FTC
generally invokes competition law as a basis for investigation over these cases under Section 2 of the
Sherman Act and Section 7 of the Clayton Act. The particular concern ... Show more content on

These consent agreements mostly impose strict requirements for an SEP holder to seek injunctive
relief. For example, in Bosch GmbH, the FTC dictated that Bosch GmbH can only seek injunctions
against an unwilling licensee. The unwilling licensee shows unwillingness by refusing to accept the
SEP holder s offer of a license on F/RAND terms, or a court s determination. In Motorola Mobility,
the order prohibits Google/Motorola from making any future claims for injunctions over a F/RAND
Patent against a potential licensee. This unwilling licensee similarly should refuse (1) a F/RAND offer
either in writing or in sworn testimony, (2) a court order, (3) a binding arbitration determined F/RAND
terms, or (4) simply not replying to the written confirmation requested in a F/RAND Terms from an

Taking a Look at Dementia
Dementia is a broad term that encompasses a variety of different diseases and syndromes(The
dementia timebomb, 2013). About 38 million in the united states and 820,000 in the United Kingdom
are diagnosed with one of the over 100 types of dementia. It is also and aged related condition, so
most people inflicted with it are older rather than younger. A person can have multiple forms of
dementia or a disease such as alzheimer s diseases that involves dementia symptoms. Symptoms of
dementia include: memory loss, disorientation, loss of motor skills, not being able to eat or drink,
depression and even hallucinations. Most of these symptoms are caused due to a problem within the
central nervous system, more specifically the brain. As the condition progresses so do the symptoms
related to it. In the later stages of the condition, many patients have been noted to have vivid
hallucinations that they believe to be real life events. They may not be able to recognize their own
loved ones, but sometimes are able to recall back on old memories. In some patients they forget the
time and place and even resort back to being a child again (Jenkins C McKay A, 2013).
In many forms of dementia, The Frontal lobe and the temporal lobe of the brain has been damaged.
The cells in these lobes are dying off slowly and connection is losted. This is due to the loss of
neurons in both lobes of the brain. Scary tissues develops in these parts of the brain also. Many of the
surviving cells tend to have

Primate Morphology For The Lemur Catta
This paper will discuss primate morphology for the Lemur catta, also known as the ring tailed lemur,
what characterizes them as primates, how they react in their environment, and their social and
adaptive behaviors in that environment. The Lemur catta and it is only found in the island of
Madagascar, as well as off the coast of southeast Africa. In Madagascar, they reside in the
southeastern portion anywhere from sea level, up to 8530 feet high. Their environment consists
mainly of tropical forested area in the proximity of nine forests: Andohahela, Andringitra, Ankilitelo,
Berenty, Beza Mahafaly, Isalo, Tsimanampetsotsa, Tsirave, and Zombitse (Godfrey et al. 1998).
According to the National Primate Research Center (pin.primate.wisc.edu), they also have a variety of
habitats for example rainforests, spiny bush forests, subalpine, deciduous, and gallery. However, a lot
of their habitat has been affected by constant human contact; agricultural clearing, deforestation, and
burning to produce charcoal. The Lemur catta need to be able to hide in the forest and they are not
very good at adapting to new environments so they depend a lot on the forested areas. The southwest
part of Madagascar is very prone to droughts and they can have serious effects on the habitats of ring
tailed lemurs and other mammals. I will discuss what makes the Lemur catta a primate and the primate
characteristics that they possess. Then, I will express the specialized, physical characteristics that they

Conscription Plebiscites
Were the 1916 17 conscription plebiscites only about reinforcing the Army in Europe? The
conscription plebiscites of 1916 17 were not only about reinforcing the Australian troops in Europe.
The Australian government did have the power to implement conscription without holding a
plebiscite. But in 1916 the Prime Minster, Billy Hughes, knew that introducing a bill to implement
conscription would not work, and would have serious consequences. It would not have had enough
support from the government, so it would not have passed through both houses of parliament, and it
would split the Labor Party that was in power at the time. A plebiscite, on the other hand, did have
support from both houses of parliament, and was seen by Hughes as the only way ... Show more

The issue of conscription had brought to light the divisions within Australian society and the
government. Irish Australians, Roman Catholics, many supporters of the Labor Party and pacifists
were anti conscription (Love 2013, p. 4). Many Irish Australians, especially Catholics, had turned
against the war due to the violent and brutal suppression of Irish nationalists by British and Australian
forces in the Easter Uprising in Ireland in 1916 (Kildea 2013, Love 2013, pp. 3 4). The Australian
Roman Catholic Church had close ties to the Labor Party and Irish communities and stood with them
against conscription (Hearn 2010). The Archbishop of Melbourne, Irish born Daniel Mannix, who had
been entirely against the war since its beginning, supported the anti conscription movement, as well as
the Catholic dominated anti conscription faction of the Labor Party. Mannix was one of Hughes most
prominent opponents in his struggle to introduce conscription (Griffin 1986). On the other side, parts
of Australian society were pro conscription, such as pro imperialists, the Commonwealth Liberal
Party, the right faction of the Labor Party and the media (Love 2013, p. 4). Hughes wanted the
plebiscites to bring to an end the divisions that had been brought to light by the conscription

What Are The 5 Approaches To Health Promotion
There are five different approaches to health promotion, each of these have different aims, methods
and means of evaluation they are not guidelines but individually reflect different ways of working.
(Naidoo Wills, 2009.)
The Medical/Preventive model is scientific and targeted towards high risk groups, the main aim is to
prevent disease and reduce morbidity and premature mortality. The approach is broken down into
three stages these being: Primary prevention The first stage of the approach aims to ensure people are
aware of risks and try to prevent disease through encouraging individuals to take the right steps
towards good health. Secondary prevention This stage is about preventing the growth of further
disease, by using methods such as screening for early diagnosis. Tertiary prevention The final stage is
about reducing disease or illness in the individual and ensuring that recurrence of a disease is
prevented.
The behavioural change model encourages individuals to adopt healthy behaviours into their lifestyles
in order to improve their health. The individual has to take responsibility and want to change their
health behaviours, health professionals are there to advise and educate them how to improve their
health through this change. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This approach is based on change through educational methods which are provided by health
professionals, such as Making Every Contact Count (MECC) aims to encourage people to lead
healthier lifestyles, by providing advice and support for behaviour change. (NHS Yorkshire and the

change but to educate the individual, it is the individual s choice to change their behaviour with all the

Oxides of non metals which act as acids
Non metals burn in air or oxygen to produce acidic oxides. The addition of water to soluble oxides
produces acidic solutions.
Oxides of non metals which act as acids include:
* Carbon reacts with oxygen when burnt to form carbon dioxide which is acidic in nature. When
dissolved in water, it becomes H2CO3 (carbonic acid).
CO2 (g) + H2O (l) ñ† H2CO3 (aq)
* Sulfur burns in oxygen to give sulfur dioxide or sulfur trioxide which is acidic in nature. When
dissolved in water, it forms sulfurous acid H2SO3 and sulfuric acid H2SO4 respectively.

Electropositive behaviour increases from right to left across the periodic table and increases down the
column. As the electropositivity of the atom increases, so too the basicity of the oxide. The more
electronegative the atom, the more acidic the oxide.
Sulfur dioxide oxides of Nitrogen
The oxides of nitrogen form naturally when lightning strikes cause nitrogen and oxygen in the air to
combine. Thus the nitrogen oxides become oxidised to nitric acid, nitrates and nitrites.
N2 + O2[IMAGE] 2NO
Nitrogen monoxide or nitrogen oxide can also be formed (industrially) in internal combustion engines
or high temperature combustion reactions in furnaces:
N2 + O2[IMAGE] 2NO
This nitrogen monoxide gas can further react with oxygen in the air to form brown acidic nitrogen
dioxide.
2NO + O2[IMAGE] 2NO2
Nitrogen oxides are soluble in water and have known contributions to pollutants (PAN) in
photochemical smog as well as its detrimental effects to animal respiratory systems. There are a
number of these such oxides including: nitrogen dioxide (NO2), nitrous oxide (N2O) and nitrogen
monoxide (NO).
Sulfur dioxide and the oxides of nitrogen profoundly contribute to the acidity of the atmosphere and
ultimately, the production of acid rain.
Sulfur dioxide (SO2) is an acidic

Examination Of Paul s Thesis
In Romans, the Apostle Paul creates a powerful proclamation that salvation and forgiveness of sin is
through faith in Jesus Christ. In a series of questions and historical facts, he builds a case for his
declaration. Examination of Paul s statements provides substantiation of justification by faith
supported by the apostle James teaching.
Paul exposes his thesis by declaring a righteousness from God separate from the law (Rom. 3:21
[NIV]). God s acceptance is available apart from the old legal obedience, foretold by the Law and
Prophets, to all people, through faith and belief in Jesus Christ. From this proposal, he would argue
that history and logic prove Christ as the savior of mankind.
Beginning the argument, Paul establishes his basic

Sunday Morning By Wallace Stevens
Wallace Stevens a well known American poet once said, In poetry, you must love the words, the ideas
and the images and rhythms with all your capacity to love anything at all. In these lines, Stevens
beautifully reveals that poetry is all about enjoying each line and each and every part of the poem as it
would give you satisfaction and love for poetry as never before. Similarly, Stevens wrote a
magnificent piece of work Sunday Morning , with various pieces of literary devices to enhance his
poetry making it descriptive and enjoyable to read. For example, the use of techniques such as
symbolism, theme, imagery, and tone Sunday Morning displays the clash that the speaker endures as
she questions the Christian religion and her discovery of love for nature. It is evident throughout the
poem that the woman has difficulty finding happiness in religion and enjoys nature, finding it to be
inspiring unlike religion that can be destructive and disappointing. The poem starts out with strong

of readers. Throughout, the poem the speaker which is the woman questions religion and the rewards
that result from Christianity and wonders how life would be if revolved around nature instead of
religion. The poems message that nature must be adored because it is not permanent and everything
that is temporary is worth living allowed readers like me to really wonder if every religion is the same
or not. This poem has created a new perception of how to see nature and religion and how we should
avoid exhausting ourselves under fixed religion and should focus more on finding bliss on earth where

Audre Lorde Essay
Audre Lorde In our class discussions and reading, I learned that women were once in charge of the
human race, women were a part of a community, no race was inferior or superior, there was peace and
harmony in the world until the patriarchal era came, planning to embed itself in the ground for a long
time. Women were raped of their identity, their race and their status in society. Men ruled the biblical
stories, leaving Mary out. Hence, the war started between the races, women fought to gain their
identity back and to do so, they started with writing. One of those women was Audre Lorde. Audre

people should not be trusted. Seeing her mother ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

a train to go to New York City and when it was time to eat, they were not allowed to enter the dining
area so they had to eat in their seats. Her mother told her that it is better to eat home cooked food
anyway. Audre Lorde did not question her mother since she knew her mother was right. Though her
parents made the incident look okay, it deeply bothered Lorde. There was another incident when they
arrived to D.C from New York City; when Audre s family decided to get some ice cream treats from a
drugstore, they were told to order their food and eat it outside because they were blacks. Her parents
ignore the comment and left. Lorde was outrages by their reaction. She knew what was going on but
she was not allowed to acknowledge this racism. She saw that her family was just as upset but they
chose to ignore it and walk away, hoping for the racism to go away. These incidents were carved
inside Lorde while growing up. It was a hard journey for her until she found a way to deal with it.
When Lorde was in high school, she experienced indifference but she refused to name what she felt.
She ignored the racism and prejudice as long as she could. She decided to join a click which was
known as Branded. Though the group was all white, they never discussed their race or their gender.

Theme Of Love And Hate In 1984
Love begets hate, while hate thrives on the death of love. This relation makes them single most
powerful and destructive forces both on their own and in conjunction. The destructive and repressive
qualities are explored in the 1984 by George Orwell. The protagonist name is a middle aged man
named Winston, who lives in a totalitarian society in which most human interactions have been
dehumanized, the people are constantly monitored, and hate is the driving force in society that is in
perpetual war. It is Winstonƛ desire for freedom and human interaction that finds him in an affair with
a young woman named Julia and a mind clouded with rebellious thought. love and hate are used as
weapons, as Winston s government creates, manufactures, and destroys the ideas to manipulate their
society. Orwell conveys Love and hate as fickle and unreasonable emotions that carry great power yet
are so easily manipulated and swayed. Love and hate are inherently fickle as they are object of one s
mind, and are in a constant state of change, decay, and fluctuation from person to person. You can not
definitively define love, you can only ever know it in one s mind. This unfortunately leads to a flaw in
that love is an idea, an ideal, that can be manipulated as people skew its definition or condition the
mind to reassess the idea and change it. Winston s society is under constant surveillance by dual
broadcasting tvs known to them as telescreens, these devices severely inhibit their action,

The Differences Of The Odyssey By Homer s The Odyssey
Odyssey Essay!
The amazing epic poem by Homer entitled The Odyssey shares many similarities and many
differences as well with the Hallmark movie of the same name. The epic poem is about the hero
Odysseus who has spent twenty long years filled with toil and loss, through war and sea desperate to
return to his home of Ithaca. Odysseus has angered some of the gods and goddesses of a Greek
Mythology with his destruction of the mighty city of Troy. Odysseus is represented in the poem and
the movie, but there are several differences between the two in the events he encountered. There are
also numerous similarities
For starters, the setting of the movie and the poem are both centralized around Ithaca and scattered
Islands of Greece. The Greek mythology was also a main theme in the two, such as Odysseus s
protection by The goddess Athena and the hatred be Odysseus and Poseidon. One of the more difficult
aspect that the movie had gotten spot on was the displaying of Odysseus s leadership throughout the
God s (mainly Poseidon s) wrath and the ever enduring seas of Greece. However throughout all of the
hardships his crewmen remained loyal to him and his faith that they would one day return to the
shores of Odysseus s mighty Kingdom of Ithaca.
Another main similarity between the poem and the movie but put into more depth in the movie is how
the people of Ithaca where dealing with Odysseus s absence. Penelope stayed faithful to Odysseus
while also keeping the promise of marrying

Diversity Within The Workplace, Many People And Companies...
When looking at diversity in the workplace, many people and companies encourage it. Cultural
diversity has become a defining characteristic of an increasing number of societies ( Consequences of
Cultural diversity this should be the author and the date). They feel that it is a great thing to have
diversity in the workplace, however, what some companies do not think about is the negative effects
of having too much diversity in the workplace. A workforce that has significant differences in
ethnicity, race, religion, gender and other individual traits can produce negative effects, especially if
not well managed. These negative effects of diversity are understandable if the work culture does not
support tolerance and acceptance of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The real problem comes with the companies that are widely diverse because of the different
combinations of cultures that are being mixed. Also, another problem with diversity in the workplace
is time. Different cultures and societies view time differently, as how many hours employees are
expected to work in a day and how many are spent with family vary. Other cultures work long hours
in a day, but they also take a long lunch break as where others work for an average of eight hours a
day with an average lunch of thirty minutes. With all of the differences that cultures have, it can make
it difficult for a large corporation to be successful and effective, as well as efficient, when managing
the workplace.
The benefits of diversity in the hospitality business are numerous, however. Diversity can bring new
views and perspectives to the table to other workers that they may not have been exposed to it before.
It may not occur to a large group of, for example, middle class white people that there are better
solutions or plans for their workplace because they all might have relatively the same ideals and work
ethics. However, having diverse groups of people could bring those fresh ideas and problem solving to
these workers that may otherwise not occur to them. Especially different ethnicities might, ...offer

Handbags are an essential fashion accessory that enhances the personality of a woman. It is said to be

MJam is an online business providing contemporary handbags made in a variety of materials. The
business is owned by an inspiring and talented leather accessories designer Marukh Jamshed. The
brand provides a variety of handbags made in trendy colors with tasteful embellishments, catering to
the chic and stylish target customers. It first began its operations in 2011, targeting a limited customer
base. And ever since its inception the brand has been operating online. Thus it has a potential to
expand its customer base by establishing retail presence in multi brand stores such as PFDC and

before purchasing it. The literature review is based on variables such as expanding the business to
retail stores, necessary handbag features required and types of handbag customers. Expanding the

Ashurnasirpal II
Ashurnasirpal II was the king of the Neo Assyrian Empire. He was known to be ruthless,
warmongering, and violent as a leader. Under his reign, the empire was expanded and was brought
whole by eliminating the rebels against his ruling. Due to his cruel nature, Ashurnasirpal II also made
anyone who wanted to rebel against him cower in fear. Aaccording to the Ancient History
Encyclopedia, it was recorded that in the rebel city of Tela, Ashurnasirpal II flayed the rebel leader
and nailed his skin to the wall. This barbaric method of torture and execution would make his enemies
tremble in fear. However, this cruelty also allowed Ashurnasirpal II to maintain order within the
empire. According to the historian Marc Van De Mieroop, wherever Ashurnasirpal II governed, there
were peace and justice, which shows that his cruelty was effective in establishing order. Also, he was
known to be a great diplomat and was able to establish stability with treaties with the Babylon and
kingdom of Israel without using military forces. Other than his conquests, Ashurnasirpal II ... Show

Summary Of Into The Wild, By Jon Krakauer
Jon Krakauer, released a nonfiction novel in the winter of January 1996, he created a book that told
the true story about a young man of the age 24 by the name of Christopher Johnson McCandless. The
book clutches that young man s family lives and conceives to his parents, Billie and Walt McCandless
and also his sister Carine, that Christopher s life was of great significance and was very much
appreciated, it also lays a footprint in the lives that McCandless had met before he also met his
untimely demise. Krakauer s ultimate purpose of constructing the book, Into the Wild was to
determine what exactly happened to Christopher McCandless on the Stampede Trail. Krakauer set out
to discover Christopher s exact, precise motive on why he truly decided ... Show more content on

Krakauer did in fact believe that Christopher Johnson McCandless was completely sane. The question
of why would a man, who had great potential and many spoils want to venture out and make a life in
the wilderness where he has just his name and a handful of items? Krakauer discussed that he found
evidence that McCandless didn t seek out after the materialistic items which his parents offered him,
that s why his reaction to the car offer was greatly dramatic. Krakauer has written the novel Into the
Wild to use as a cautionary tale to say that the trait of happiness isn t merely a trait at all. Happiness is
indeed a characteristic that must be shared among others in order to be true happiness. I HAVE HAD
A HAPPY LIFE AND THANK THE LORD. GOODBYE AND MAY GOD BLESS ALL! (199.)
Krakauer described McCandless as a man who faced death and stared it in the face but, after all that
had happened to him he was at peace, serene as a monk gone to God.

The Minster s Black Veil Essay
In 1832, Nathaniel Hawthorne wrote a chilling, dark tale about a Puritan society that exposed their
hypocrisies called The Minster s Black Veil. The Puritans believed everyone was a sinner at birth.
Because of this they were unsure who was saved or were damned, and it led to them to start judging
others. In the story, Hawthorne starts to uncover the dark habits of the seemingly happy community;
by giving their pastor a black veil. When the pastor refuses to remove veil, the town is struck with
fear. The veil sends the whole community questioning their pastor s sanity, or if he committed a horrid
sin. The story highlights the Puritans belief that some are saved while others are damned, therefore,
they must separate the sinners and virtuous using the binaries light, dark, feminine, and masculine;
which comes together in the form of the veil. From the beginning, Hawthorne sets up a drastic contrast
between before and after the appearance of the veil. Hawthorne describes the town as bright and
cheerful: Children with bright faces, tript merrily beside their parents, or mimicked a graver gait, in
the conscious dignity of their Sunday clothes. Spruce bachelors ... Show more content on

A minster for the Puritans was an extremely important role in their society because religion was a
crucial aspect of their cultural. Their main goal in life is to achieve salvation by doing God s work.
Religious leaders are held to a higher standard by the community, even today. Due to this phenomenon
when Mr. Hooper starts wearing the black veil it is completely earth shattering to their community and
leaves them wondering what he could have done to want to hide. The Puritans idealize Mr. Hooper
and are uncertain if they can still do that. If they cannot idealize Mr. Hooper it leaves them with some

Rene Robert Cavelier As A Jesuit
René Robert Cavelier was born November 21, 1643, in Rouen, France. From a young age, Cavalier
went to school to study to be a Jesuit. In 1660, at the age of 17, he enrolled in Collége Henri IV, a
Jesuit school near Angers, to further his studies. In 1663, King Louis XIV (14) declares New France
(present day Canada) a French Province, and La Salle seizes his chance. A few years later, at 22, La
Salle left his religious training in search of a valid exploit to add to his name. He sailed to New France

Pphl 25 Reflection
I am currently taking up PHIL 25, Philosophy of the Human Person, and it helped me interpret
complex things discussed in the 26 chapter text. The text as well helped me refreshed what were
already discussed on our PHIL 25 course and also aids in attaining a deeper understanding on
Philosophy. In the first chapters of the text, I already know that there is a big difference between
knowledge and wisdom; wherein not all knowledgeable are wise. And what the text provided me was
a better comprehension on the difference between the two, knowledge and wisdom.
I, myself, do not know what wisdom is. According to the dictionary, wisdom is the quality of having
experience, knowledge, and good judgment; but what does wisdom really mean. In the text, it was
described as the knowledge of highest causes. It is about seeing the larger picture of things. And
mostly the wise persons are the older ones. I have learned that most older person are wise not ... Show

The principle of identity states that each being is what it is, thus everything is determinate. Without
this principle we would not know anything at all and that what is something is the same as what it is
not. On the other hand, the principle of non contradiction states that something cannot be both true and
false at the same time in the same respect. Without this principle, for me, the world would be in chaos.
This is because, what would I want to mean could be the opposite of what would i want to imply. The
principle of the excluded middle states that a thing can only be is or is not, there is no such thing as in
between them. I have also grasp that becoming is being. This is for the reason that becoming means
changing into something. But before that change has come to happen, that thing to undergo change is
still the thing it is. I am quite confused

Essay On Buffalo Bill

Buffalo Bills restaurant is a well known restaurant that sits at the heart of Hayward on B Street. It is
surrounded by a chain of many other fine dining restaurants, but none as good as the western inspired
Buffalo Bills. On the outside of the restaurant at first glance it reminds you of an old Italian place, yet
the name Buffalo Bills set your mind at askew when you notice the western title compared to the
Italian landscape outside. Buffalo Bills has a variety of delicious Soups, Burgers, Pizzas, Desserts and
assorted appetizers. Although their menu seems to be very simple, it s the simplicity that catches the
eye. Yesterday I visited Buffalo Bills restaurant, and I must say their main goal is to keep their
customers happy and make them want to come back. The customers seem to enjoy the enthusiasm that
Buffalo Bills portrays within the eating environment, service, and the amazing food.
As soon as the guests walk in this restaurant, they get a great sense of relaxation. With all the
decorations it makes guests feel like they are in a good ole fashion Ho down with a modern twist of
course. The décor includes very vivid painting from modern western inspired artists. The painting are

Reaction Paper On Gels
1. Introduction
1.1. Gels
1.1.1. Definition
The word gel is derived from gelatin and can be traced back to the Latin gelu for frost and gelare,
meaning freeze or congeal . (1)
According to the U. S. Pharmacopeia (USP), gels are defined as semisolid systems consisting of either
suspensions made up of small inorganic particles or large organic molecules interpenetrated by a
liquid . (2)
Gels are also defined as two component semi rigid systems in which the liquid continuous phase is
immobilized by a cross linked three dimensional network consisting of particles or solvated
macromolecules in the disperse phase. (2,3) This disperse phase can be constituted by inorganic
particles or organic macromolecules, primarily polymers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This process is referred to as swelling. This phenomenon occurs as the solvent penetrates the matrix.
Gel gel interactions are replaced by gel solvent interactions. The degree of swelling depends on the
number of linkages between individual molecules of gelling agent and on the strength of these
linkages7, 8. B) Syneresis Many gels often contract spontaneously on standing and exude some fluid
medium. This effect is known as syneresis. The degree to which syneresis occurs, increases as the
concentration of gelling agent decreases. The occurrence of syneresis indicates that the original gel
was thermodynamically unstable. The mechanism of contraction has been related to the relaxation of
elastic stress developed during the setting of the gels. As these stresses are relieved, the interstitial
space available for the solvent is reduced, forcing the liquid out. C) Ageing Colloidal systems usually
exhibit slow spontaneous aggregation. This process is referred to as ageing. In gels, ageing results in
gradual formation of a denser network of the gelling agent. D) Structure The rigidity of a gel arises
from the presence of a network formed by the interlinking of particles of the gelling agents. The nature
of the particle and the stress, straightening them out and lessening the resistance to

The Aspect Of Language Development
Introduction
Nowadays, with continuous enhancement of economy and culture globalization, bilingual or
multilingual speakers are increasing all around world. In United States, one out of five elementary
school students speak another language other than English at home. Although some parents prefer
their children exposed to monolingual environment, the mainstream trend is more and more children
in America speak one language at home but another language at school, or use both first and second
language at school. Bilingual education becomes more and more important for bilingual children
growing up in target language environment. Commonly, children learn second language through two
different sequences, one is simultaneous acquisition, and another is sequential acquisition. Which
means they can choose to learn two languages at same time, or study second language after first
language is well mastered. But for babies or toddlers under three years old, they seem to receive
language passively; lots of people wonder how could these toddlers develop two languages and how
could parents or bilingual educators guide them effectively. This paper aims to review literature on the
aspect of language development of Bilingual toddlers; the theory results would contribute to
effectively develop one to three years old bilingual toddlers language acquisition.

Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs Essay
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: The Queen, usually known as the Evil Queen or the Wicked
Queen, is the villain in the 1937 Disney animated film. This version of the character was sometimes
referred to as Queen Grimhilde in Disney publications of the 1930s, and was originally voiced by
Lucille La Verne. In the versions of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs that have been sanitized for
children, the action of the poem usually seems to concentrate on the possibility of violence aimed at
the innocent young. In those stories, although the reader assumes the queen to be motivated by her
envy of Snow White s youth and beauty, her motives seem to be subsidiary to the theme of violence
itself. In Sexton s version, the queen s pride, which pumped in her like a poison, is diagnosed directly
as motivation. Indeed, Sexton says that before the mirror labels Snow White as the most beautiful
woman in the land, the girl has been no more important to the queen than a dust mouse under the bed.
The mirror s announcement makes the queen suddenly aware of encroaching age and makes her
determined to kill Snow White. At the end, the queen is punished for her pride by dancing to death in
the red hot shoes.
Sexton goes beyond simply making the queen a villain, however. In the poem s second verse
paragraph, Sexton uses the second person you to suggest to the reader that everyone is subject to the
corrupting effects of pride and may be subject to its rewards.

Hrothgar In Beowulf
TV cameras have a knack for only picking up the good things world leaders do. These shots are meant
to paint someone like the US President in a positive light. It turns out even epics from Anglo Saxon
times would do everything they could to make their kings seem great and generous, but as with
everything else there is a side not seen by the public eye. In the epic of Beowulf a king named
Hrothgar is seen on the outside as the greatest and most generous king the land had ever seen, but on
the inside he is much more human. Hrothgar like all great leaders comes with many flaws. He is very
similar to current and past world leaders and brings a new meaning to the word great. Despite being
thought about in a positive light he certainly has his warts. These include his heavy drinking habit, a
lack of self control, and no desire whatsoever to be king of the Danes. ... Show more content on

A Brief Note On The Peak Community Partners
More than 16 million children, or roughly one in five, were living in poverty in 2011, according to the
U.S. Census Bureau s official poverty measure (pdf). That is higher than any other age group. Poverty
to such a degree prohibits parents the ability to provide their children with any extra luxuries outside
of the conventional education. Moreover, traditions such as prom let alone extracurricular activities
that cost are out of the question due to the expense. Pikes Peak Community Partners (PPCP) will try to
incorporate service learning initiatives with the responsibilities of running a solvent nonprofit. It is
PPCP s belief that every child should be able to enjoy the opportunities that are available to them in
both a traditional high school setting that they earn through hard work and dedication. The program is
designed to help children obtain and retain the resources necessary to affect real change within their
community, thus giving them the opportunity to build something great even if it is merely a friendship
that will last a lifetime. Consequently, the project will help the youth of the Pikes Peak region obtain
opportunities that may not otherwise be afforded to them, while teaching students (youth) leadership,
social, and business skills that will be utilized throughout their lives.

definitions for the concept latchkey children , and determine the contributory factors to the
phenomenon of latchkey children and the impact (both positive and negative) of the latchkey situation
on children s relationships. The theoretical framework guiding this research focuses on child

Latchkey children
STARTING POINT
Today, whether this is a good thing or not, about 33 percent of all school age children, an estimated
five million between ages five and 13, are so called latchkey children, a study of the City of Phoenix
(2003). Furthermore, Your Family Health (2000) highlights a correlation between the continuing
increase in parents working and children being home alone.
As stated in the Oxford Learner s Dictionary (2016), the word latch refers to a small bar fasting a door
or gate. Dowd (1991), Belle (1997) and Robinson (1986), researchers in this field, consider the term
latchkey to be American and link it to the state of a child being in self care and/or care for younger
siblings on a regular basis during the out of school hours, while their parents are at work. Latchkey

The Role Of Conspiracies In The Secret Agent
Despite a lack of paranoia, The Secret Agent is a distinct example of conspiracy fiction. It exceeds the
criteria necessary in addressing the mediation of the media, the conspiracies within conspiracies
throughout the novel, and the sundering of the public sphere necessary for the title of conspiracy
fiction. Ultimately, even the anarchist group fuelling the conspiracies is not safe from its own inner
conspiracy. The novel distinctly examines how conspiracies can form within groups. Joseph Conrad
achieves this in how the anarchists employ stealthy techniques and deception even amongst
themselves. They conceal their motives; deliver anarchist pamphlets to incite the perceived
proletariats, and revel in the unpredictability that anarchy brings. The motives fuelling their actions are
concealed from one another. Moreover, even their crowning achievement in the destruction of the
Greenwich observatory, has unique layers of meaning amongst the group. To the Professor, the
meandering destruction sates his need for chaos and the validation of his nihilism. From Vladimir s
perspective, he wields this terrorist act as a method to subvert Britain s government and promote a

Radiologic Technologists, play a very important role when it comes to stopping the transmission of
these infections. Radiologic technologists come in close contact with patient s every day. This means

The transmission of any type of infection in a hospital setting requires at least three things: a source, a
susceptible host, and a means of transmission. If one of these things is missing then the disease cannot
spread. When looking at the whole sequence, the chain actually has six links: the infectious agent, a
reservoir, a portal of exit, mode of transportation, a portal of entry, and a host. Infectious agents can be
anything from a bacteria to fungi that thrive on a reservoir such as a human, soil, or even water. These
agents must have a way to exit their reservoir through secretions such as blood, feces, sores, or other
bodily fluids. Now that the infectious agents have left their reservoir, they are now ready to be
transmitted into a susceptible host. There are many forms of transmission including direct contact,
indirect contact, ingestion, airborne droplets, vectors, and fomites. Once these diseases have
transmitted onto their host they need a portal of entry made of mucous membranes, broken skin, or the
intestinal tract. (Schmidt, pg

What Does Camelot Represent In The Lady Of Shalott
The poem, The Lady of Shalott by Lord Alfred Tennyson tells the story of a mysterious young lady
who was cursed for a reason that she does not understand to remain in one of four towers on an island
called Shallot in the middle of a river near Camelot. She is cursed to continuously weave, however she
is able to catch shadows and reflections of the world through a mirror that was positioned for her to
see the opposite side of the tapestries that she was held captive to work on. The Lady is forbidden to
stand in front of, or look directly out of the window towards Camelot, so she cleverly uses the mirror
to catch glimpses of the people in and around the fields between herself and Camelot. There are many
facets to this story yet one of the

Portable Personal Water Filter is an Essential in Today s...
Competitive Trends
A portable personal water filter is an essential piece of gear for someone to have in their home, or on
them personally, in the event of an emergency or disaster. It is a relatively inexpensive apparatus that
can provide a way to secure safe drinking water from 20 to 100,000 gallons. Its modest size and light
weight make it easy to store or carry to ensure access to clean drinking water in any situation.
LifeStraw brand competitors are as follows:
The Aquamira Frontier is a small (less than 5 inches long), lightweight, personal portable water filter.
The filter media (activated coconut shell carbon) filters out approximately 99.9 percent of
Cryptosporidium and Giardia. These parasites can cause intestinal ... Show more content on

The manufacturer advertises this product for use in emergency outdoor conditions, while traveling,
and during disaster circumstances. Currently this filter is only available on Amazon.com, for
approximately $19.99, as it was just recently introduced in the United States of America. Miller
ProSource, the manufacturer of the H20 Survival Straw, is a privately held company and their
financial information is unavailable. (h20survivalstraw.com)
LifeStraw product competitors are as follows:
The Sawyer Mini Water Filter is approximately seven inches long and weighs around two ounces. The
filter media is comprised of hollow fiber. This product is extremely versatile as it can be used as a
straw, placed inline on a hydration pack, comes with a 16 ounce water pouch that it threads onto, and
it also fits most standard thread water bottles. The filter media removes 99.99999 percent of bacteria
(Salmonella, Cholera, and E Coli); 99.9999 percent of protozoa (Giardia and Cryptosporidium); filters
particles as fine as .01 microns and therefore exceeds both EPA and NSF recommendations. Sawyer
maintains that their filter will purify up to 100,000 gallons. The product includes a back flush syringe
to help sustain its filter capacity. Sawyer seems to promote this product primarily as being used in
third world countries where drinking water is a concern. However, it is available in the United States

Jealousy, Love, And Death
Shakespeare is known for his use of recurring themes, particularly those of betrayal, love, and death.
These themes are present in Othello. However, the most dynamic of themes in this play is jealousy.
White describes jealousy as a complex of thoughts, feelings, and actions which follow threats to self
esteem and/or threats to the existence or quality of a relationship (qtd in UK essays par 1). Two types
of jealousy are presented to the audience in Othello; the kind of jealousy that is fear of losing what one
has, and the kind that is envious of what others have. Jealousy is a prevalent theme in Othello; it is
rooted by love and hope, and it leads to betrayal and death. Because of the evil nature of jealousy, the
play unfolds under the authority of Iago, who uses jealousy to drive the characters actions, and
ultimately concludes in the downfall of a noble man (UK Essays par 1). The audience is presented
with examples of both forms of jealousy as themes in Othello. The two themes of jealousy differ, but
are also quite similar. The envious jealousy is portrayed by two of the main characters, Roderigo and
Iago. Both men are willing to do anything it takes to get what they want. In the beginning of the play,
Roderigo, a rich gentleman, and Iago, the villain, are introduced to the audience. Iago is envious of
Cassio, who was chosen by Othello to be his lieutenant. Roderigo is jealous of Othello marrying
Desdemona, with whom Roderigo is in love. Iago s jealousy leads him to

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Remote Laboratories
Abstract The three kinds of laboratories in Indian Engineering Institutions are Conventional (physical)
Labs; Virtual (simulated) Labs and Remote labs. It is consistent across all branches in Engineering
Institutions of India that the laboratory infrastructure is significantly underutilized due to factors such
as security, timings, number of available working days etc. In addition to this, the student touch time
with a laboratory is significantly low because of the student to experimental set up ratio, availability of
timings and number of working days. An established remote laboratory could hereby offer a platform
which can facilitate the students to access laboratory beyond the limitations posed by the conventional
physical laboratories. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This reality has changed with the dissemination of remote laboratories. Sustained by resources based
on new information and communication technologies, it is now probable to remotely control a wide
variety of conventional physical laboratories. However, most of them are intended specifically to this
purpose, are rigid and only on its utility they resemble the real ones. A substitute remote lab
infrastructure dedicated to the study of electronics is offered. Its main characteristics are, from a
teacher s perception, reusability and simplicity of use, and from a students standpoint, an exact
imitation of the real lab, facilitating them to balance or finish at home the work started at class. The
remote laboratory is incorporated in the Learning Management System in use at the school, and
therefore, may be shared with other web experiments and e learning approach, while safeguarding

How Safe Bottled And Tap Water
The objective of this experiment is to see how safe bottled and tap water is to drink based on what is
in the water; specifically the contaminants and the pH balance of the water. As well as if the
temperature of the environment that the water is placed in affects the pH balance of the water along
with if bacteria is grown due to the condition it is in. Water is one of the most important things in life,
being as it is known as the universal solvent, and humans and many other animals need it to survive.
Along with water, the balance of pH is also extremely important in the maintenance of any organism s
life, including the lives of humans. Temperature is known to affect the speed of movements of ions
within a solution. There are specific ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While if water with a pH above seven (basic) will not cause the person who consumes it any health
effects. It will just have an alkaline taste which may not be pleasing to the consumer. pH is extremely
important to our cells as a slight change in pH in our cells can be harmful. For example, if the pH of
human blood is not maintained, the person will end up dying in a few minutes. pH is also important to
the environment. For example, if precipitation becomes acidic (a pH of less than 5.6 is considered
acidic precipitation), it can kill some organisms in the environment by interfering with the organisms
chemical processes of life. If water is contaminated, it can be fatal for one to drink. Usually, water is
contaminated with contaminants such as copper, lead, iron, sodium and bacteria. If water is
contaminated with higher level of sodium than there is water, and a person drinks it for a long period
of time, it will be unsafe, and most likely fatal to the person. This is because the person s cells will
shrivel up as they are drinking a hypertonic solution. Thus if one were to drink water with a high
sodium concentration than there is water, they will eventually end up being dehydrated, (due to their
cells shrivelling up) and face an inevitable death if they continue to drink the water that has a high
concentration of salt. Also if a person drinks water that is

Using attribution and attitudinal theories, evaluate...
The following is a typical statement made by a young person who has given up sport and leads an
unhealthy lifestyle:
I think sport is boring. I am no good at it, I don t enjoy it and I can think of better things to do on a
Saturday afternoon
Using attributional theories, evaluate critically the reasons why this young person does not participate
in sport. How might you persuade this young person to once again take up sport?
It is evident from this statement that the young person concerned has developed a poor attitude
towards a balanced, active, and healthy lifestyle. They may have developed this through poor previous
experiences, such as failure, which have been reinforced by others. For example missing a penalty and
being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can have a negative effect on self confidence.
To change this, attribution retraining can be used. This is where the performer is encouraged to blame
failure on internal/unstable factors as they can be controlled. For example, if they blame losing a
tennis game on effort (unstable) then they can be encouraged to increase effort and achieve success.
Currently, this person shows Need to Avoid Failure characteristics such as low self confidence and
avoidance behaviour. This can be changed to a Need to Achieve personality using attribution
retraining. This can help the performer develop mastery orientation which is self belief and the desire
to achieve. Therefore it is important to use positive reinforcement throughout so as not to lower the
young person s confidence and reduce their motivation.
The young person states that they don t enjoy sport in the statement. This can be linked to the affective
component of the triadic model which is what the individual feels (emotion) about the activity. There
are a number of reasons why someone may not enjoy sport and they are usually due to negative past
experiences, for example, being on the receiving end of hostile aggression in football. A good way to
combat this negativity would be to give the individual success and raise self confidence. For example,
if they have lost many games of tennis, give them a superior doubles partner or allow them to

Driving Testing Persuasive Essay
I hope you are doing well. I am Amy Ratigan, a sophomore at Merion Mercy Academy, located
outside of Philadelphia, and I am writing to you in hopes that you will consider my plan. I am
proposing that when drivers turn seventy years old, they should be required to retake the driving
exam. Mercury News states: According to the Institute of Highway Safety, drivers 85 years and older
have the highest rate of fatal accidents per miles driven of any age group. However, if there were a
law passed which required drivers to retake it age seventy, there would be a decrease in fatal accidents
and an increase in safer drivers. I can say from experience that family members at home worry about
their loved ones who refuse to abandon their right for freedom. With this new law, family members
will be worry free, roads will be safer, and the drivers themselves will benefit with a refresher course.
Families nationwide agonize ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Having those over the age of seventy retake the driving test would allow for safer roads and less
accidents. The last major effort to have a bill passed to retake the driving test was in 1999 when a
Santa Monica teen was killed by a 96 year old driver who last took the driving test eighty one years
ago. Although this bill failed, I would only hope that if the driver had retaken the test, that Santa
Monica teenager may still be alive today. There would be safer drivers on the road if everyone was
aware of the updated laws when they reached seventy. This would eventually lead to a decrease in
fatal accidents due to the fact that drivers would be more experienced and capable. Once they turned
seventy, most would have taken their last driving test over 50 years ago, obviously way too long. This
renewed driving exam would allow for safer roads and a better overall driving atmosphere. However,
disagreements will arise with this new

Study of a STATCOM Application for Voltage Stability Evaluated
S.Rajasekqar, Assoc Professor HOD, NIST, Nagole, Hyderabad
Abstract: In this paper voltage stability is evaluated b v both dynamic P V curves and time domain
simulations, considering the combined dynamic control effects of a static compensator (SZ4TCOh!)
and transformer on load taps (OLT). The studied system is heavily loaded at hvo locations and an 80
Mvar STA TCOM is connected to improve the voltage stability of entire s~stem for a contingency of a
three terminal line outage. The resu[ts presented in this paper: (a) show that a STA TCOM can greatly
improve the voltage stability of a heavily loaded system, (b) quantl~ the combined impacts of
SZ4TCOM and OLT control: (c) illustrate that the margin of stability can be easily and effectively
evaluated by P V curves; (d) correlate tirnedomain simulations and P V curves for a system with a
STATCOM and OLT dynamic control. Keywords: FACTS, STATCOM, Voltage Stability, PV Curve,

Charles Darwin And Evolution Of Humans

Charles Darwin
(Intro)
A man named Charles Darwin forever changed the world, especially within western civilizations. The
idea of how humans and animals came to be was very confusing and there was no set reason of this.
People forever wondered how they came to be on this planet. Many different ideas and theories were
made, but there was no scientific reasoning on exactly the way humans and animals are here. Today,
the theory is still in debate. It is possible that in the future someone may be able to figure it out, but it
is also possible that it will be a mystery forever. One major belief in how humans and animals came to
be was all changed through the theory of Charles Darwin and evolution through natural selection. His
theory states that all life is related and has descended from a common ancestor and that natural
selection brings upon evolution. Although it may or may not be the exact reason of how humans and
animals came to be, it gave a huge sense of explanation of one idea that changed western civilization
greatly. Because of his theory, Darwin has changed everyone s thoughts on life, (2nd argument),
biology, religion, and society. FIX LATER WHEN DONE. Darwin can be seen as an individual who
has changed western civilization.
(Background Information) Darwin was born on February 12th 1809. He later passed away 73 years
away on April 19th 1882, due to heart failure. Born in a small English town called Shrewsbury, he was

  • 2. The Comparison Of Animal Pigs They received a special education, piglets were discouraged from laying with the other animals, pigs had the right of passage, pigs could wear green ribbons on their tail on sundays. Boxer was getting old and eventually retired they put him in a horse stall and a couple of days later a horse slaughter/ glue maker came and got him. Napoleon said it was really a vet that got a new truck and hasn t been able to repaint it. really the pigs sold Napoleon to the horse slaughter/ glue maker to get money to buy a case of whiskey. They were not working for man, they were working for themselves. She saw a pig walking on their hind legs. All animals are equal, some animals are more equal than others. They saw the pigs in alliance with the humans. The animals couldn t tell the pigs from the humans because the pigs were starting to act so much like the humans now. The pigs fooled everyone by having Squealer read to them and describe how what their doing is helping them a lot more than before. And that their gaining a lot more by what their doing. Nobody can argue with the facts that are being presented to them. He has many different titles for his name. He has his own apartment in the house. He has his own personal food taster and always either walks around with bodyguards or and entourage. Napoleon was supposed to sell the lumber to Mr. Pilkington and Mr. Frederick. • 3. Disadvantages Of Antitrust Law Chief Justice Roberts stated courts in the U.S. have historically granted injunctions upon a finding of infringement since the 19th century. The Antitrust Division in the U.S. also admits a patent owner s rights to exclude are similar to the rights enjoyed by owners of other forms of private property in the Antitrust Guidelines for the Licensing of Intellectual Property. Therefore, as a fundamental principle, antitrust law does not generally prohibit the holder of any other property right from seeking an injunction to vindicate that right. The FTC has the right to regulate unfair methods of competition and unfair or deceptive acts or practices under Section 5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act. During the past two decades, the FTC has been heavily involved in several high profile SEP disputes, including Dell Computer Corp., N Data, Rambus Inc. v. FTC, Motorola Mobility, and Bosch GmbH. The FTC generally invokes competition law as a basis for investigation over these cases under Section 2 of the Sherman Act and Section 7 of the Clayton Act. The particular concern ... For example, in Bosch GmbH, the FTC dictated that Bosch GmbH can only seek injunctions against an unwilling licensee. The unwilling licensee shows unwillingness by refusing to accept the SEP holder s offer of a license on F/RAND terms, or a court s determination. In Motorola Mobility, the order prohibits Google/Motorola from making any future claims for injunctions over a F/RAND Patent against a potential licensee. This unwilling licensee similarly should refuse (1) a F/RAND offer either in writing or in sworn testimony, (2) a court order, (3) a binding arbitration determined F/RAND terms, or (4) simply not replying to the written confirmation requested in a F/RAND Terms from an SEP ... • 4. Taking a Look at Dementia Dementia is a broad term that encompasses a variety of different diseases and syndromes(The dementia timebomb, 2013). About 38 million in the united states and 820,000 in the United Kingdom are diagnosed with one of the over 100 types of dementia. It is also and aged related condition, so most people inflicted with it are older rather than younger. A person can have multiple forms of dementia or a disease such as alzheimer s diseases that involves dementia symptoms. Symptoms of dementia include: memory loss, disorientation, loss of motor skills, not being able to eat or drink, depression and even hallucinations. Most of these symptoms are caused due to a problem within the central nervous system, more specifically the brain. As the condition progresses so do the symptoms related to it. In the later stages of the condition, many patients have been noted to have vivid hallucinations that they believe to be real life events. They may not be able to recognize their own loved ones, but sometimes are able to recall back on old memories. In some patients they forget the time and place and even resort back to being a child again (Jenkins C McKay A, 2013). In many forms of dementia, The Frontal lobe and the temporal lobe of the brain has been damaged. The cells in these lobes are dying off slowly and connection is losted. This is due to the loss of neurons in both lobes of the brain. Scary tissues develops in these parts of the brain also. Many of the surviving cells tend to have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Primate Morphology For The Lemur Catta This paper will discuss primate morphology for the Lemur catta, also known as the ring tailed lemur, what characterizes them as primates, how they react in their environment, and their social and adaptive behaviors in that environment. The Lemur catta and it is only found in the island of Madagascar, as well as off the coast of southeast Africa. In Madagascar, they reside in the southeastern portion anywhere from sea level, up to 8530 feet high. Their environment consists mainly of tropical forested area in the proximity of nine forests: Andohahela, Andringitra, Ankilitelo, Berenty, Beza Mahafaly, Isalo, Tsimanampetsotsa, Tsirave, and Zombitse (Godfrey et al. 1998). According to the National Primate Research Center (pin.primate.wisc.edu), they also have a variety of habitats for example rainforests, spiny bush forests, subalpine, deciduous, and gallery. However, a lot of their habitat has been affected by constant human contact; agricultural clearing, deforestation, and burning to produce charcoal. The Lemur catta need to be able to hide in the forest and they are not very good at adapting to new environments so they depend a lot on the forested areas. The southwest part of Madagascar is very prone to droughts and they can have serious effects on the habitats of ring tailed lemurs and other mammals. I will discuss what makes the Lemur catta a primate and the primate characteristics that they possess. Then, I will express the specialized, physical characteristics that they ... The conscription plebiscites of 1916 17 were not only about reinforcing the Australian troops in Europe. The Australian government did have the power to implement conscription without holding a plebiscite. But in 1916 the Prime Minster, Billy Hughes, knew that introducing a bill to implement conscription would not work, and would have serious consequences. It would not have had enough support from the government, so it would not have passed through both houses of parliament, and it would split the Labor Party that was in power at the time. A plebiscite, on the other hand, did have support from both houses of parliament, and was seen by Hughes as the only way ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The issue of conscription had brought to light the divisions within Australian society and the government. Irish Australians, Roman Catholics, many supporters of the Labor Party and pacifists were anti conscription (Love 2013, p. 4). Many Irish Australians, especially Catholics, had turned against the war due to the violent and brutal suppression of Irish nationalists by British and Australian forces in the Easter Uprising in Ireland in 1916 (Kildea 2013, Love 2013, pp. 3 4). The Australian Roman Catholic Church had close ties to the Labor Party and Irish communities and stood with them against conscription (Hearn 2010). The Archbishop of Melbourne, Irish born Daniel Mannix, who had been entirely against the war since its beginning, supported the anti conscription movement, as well as the Catholic dominated anti conscription faction of the Labor Party. Mannix was one of Hughes most prominent opponents in his struggle to introduce conscription (Griffin 1986). On the other side, parts of Australian society were pro conscription, such as pro imperialists, the Commonwealth Liberal Party, the right faction of the Labor Party and the media (Love 2013, p. 4). • 7. What Are The 5 Approaches To Health Promotion There are five different approaches to health promotion, each of these have different aims, methods and means of evaluation they are not guidelines but individually reflect different ways of working. (Naidoo Wills, 2009.) The Medical/Preventive model is scientific and targeted towards high risk groups, the main aim is to prevent disease and reduce morbidity and premature mortality. The approach is broken down into three stages these being: Primary prevention The first stage of the approach aims to ensure people are aware of risks and try to prevent disease through encouraging individuals to take the right steps towards good health. Secondary prevention This stage is about preventing the growth of further disease, by using methods such as screening for early diagnosis. Tertiary prevention The final stage is about reducing disease or illness in the individual and ensuring that recurrence of a disease is prevented. The behavioural change model encourages individuals to adopt healthy behaviours into their lifestyles in order to improve their health. The individual has to take responsibility and want to change their health behaviours, health professionals are there to advise and educate them how to improve their health through this change. ... • 11. Examination Of Paul s Thesis In Romans, the Apostle Paul creates a powerful proclamation that salvation and forgiveness of sin is through faith in Jesus Christ. In a series of questions and historical facts, he builds a case for his declaration. Examination of Paul s statements provides substantiation of justification by faith supported by the apostle James teaching. Paul exposes his thesis by declaring a righteousness from God separate from the law (Rom. 3:21 [NIV]). God s acceptance is available apart from the old legal obedience, foretold by the Law and Prophets, to all people, through faith and belief in Jesus Christ. • 12. Sunday Morning By Wallace Stevens Wallace Stevens a well known American poet once said, In poetry, you must love the words, the ideas and the images and rhythms with all your capacity to love anything at all. In these lines, Stevens beautifully reveals that poetry is all about enjoying each line and each and every part of the poem as it would give you satisfaction and love for poetry as never before. Similarly, Stevens wrote a magnificent piece of work Sunday Morning , with various pieces of literary devices to enhance his poetry making it descriptive and enjoyable to read. For example, the use of techniques such as symbolism, theme, imagery, and tone Sunday Morning displays the clash that the speaker endures as she questions the Christian religion and her discovery of love for nature. It is evident throughout the poem that the woman has difficulty finding happiness in religion and enjoys nature, finding it to be inspiring unlike religion that can be destructive and disappointing. The poems message that nature must be adored because it is not permanent and everything that is temporary is worth living allowed readers like me to really wonder if every religion is the same or not. Audre Lorde Essay Audre Lorde In our class discussions and reading, I learned that women were once in charge of the human race, women were a part of a community, no race was inferior or superior, there was peace and harmony in the world until the patriarchal era came, planning to embed itself in the ground for a long time. Women were raped of their identity, their race and their status in society. Men ruled the biblical stories, leaving Mary out. Hence, the war started between the races, women fought to gain their identity back and to do so, they started with writing. One of those women was Audre Lorde. Her mother told her that it is better to eat home cooked food anyway. Audre Lorde did not question her mother since she knew her mother was right. Though her parents made the incident look okay, it deeply bothered Lorde. There was another incident when they arrived to D.C from New York City; when Audre s family decided to get some ice cream treats from a drugstore, they were told to order their food and eat it outside because they were blacks. Her parents ignore the comment and left. Lorde was outrages by their reaction. She knew what was going on but she was not allowed to acknowledge this racism. She saw that her family was just as upset but they chose to ignore it and walk away, hoping for the racism to go away. These incidents were carved inside Lorde while growing up. It was a hard journey for her until she found a way to deal with it. When Lorde was in high school, she experienced indifference but she refused to name what she felt. This relation makes them single most powerful and destructive forces both on their own and in conjunction. The destructive and repressive qualities are explored in the 1984 by George Orwell. The protagonist name is a middle aged man named Winston, who lives in a totalitarian society in which most human interactions have been dehumanized, the people are constantly monitored, and hate is the driving force in society that is in perpetual war. It is Winstonƛ desire for freedom and human interaction that finds him in an affair with a young woman named Julia and a mind clouded with rebellious thought. love and hate are used as weapons, as Winston s government creates, manufactures, and destroys the ideas to manipulate their society. Orwell conveys Love and hate as fickle and unreasonable emotions that carry great power yet are so easily manipulated and swayed. Love and hate are inherently fickle as they are object of one s mind, and are in a constant state of change, decay, and fluctuation from person to person. You can not definitively define love, you can only ever know it in one s mind. This unfortunately leads to a flaw in that love is an idea, an ideal, that can be manipulated as people skew its definition or condition the mind to reassess the idea and change it. • 15. The Differences Of The Odyssey By Homer s The Odyssey Odyssey Essay! The amazing epic poem by Homer entitled The Odyssey shares many similarities and many differences as well with the Hallmark movie of the same name. The epic poem is about the hero Odysseus who has spent twenty long years filled with toil and loss, through war and sea desperate to return to his home of Ithaca. Odysseus has angered some of the gods and goddesses of a Greek Mythology with his destruction of the mighty city of Troy. Odysseus is represented in the poem and the movie, but there are several differences between the two in the events he encountered. There are also numerous similarities For starters, the setting of the movie and the poem are both centralized around Ithaca and scattered Islands of Greece. The Greek mythology was also a main theme in the two, such as Odysseus s protection by The goddess Athena and the hatred be Odysseus and Poseidon. One of the more difficult aspect that the movie had gotten spot on was the displaying of Odysseus s leadership throughout the God s (mainly Poseidon s) wrath and the ever enduring seas of Greece. However throughout all of the hardships his crewmen remained loyal to him and his faith that they would one day return to the shores of Odysseus s mighty Kingdom of Ithaca. Another main similarity between the poem and the movie but put into more depth in the movie is how the people of Ithaca where dealing with Odysseus s absence. The real problem comes with the companies that are widely diverse because of the different combinations of cultures that are being mixed. Also, another problem with diversity in the workplace is time. Different cultures and societies view time differently, as how many hours employees are expected to work in a day and how many are spent with family vary. Other cultures work long hours in a day, but they also take a long lunch break as where others work for an average of eight hours a day with an average lunch of thirty minutes. With all of the differences that cultures have, it can make it difficult for a large corporation to be successful and effective, as well as efficient, when managing the workplace. The benefits of diversity in the hospitality business are numerous, however. Diversity can bring new views and perspectives to the table to other workers that they may not have been exposed to it before. It may not occur to a large group of, for example, middle class white people that there are better solutions or plans for their workplace because they all might have relatively the same ideals and work ethics. At a young age his family moved from Lyon, New York to Mesopotamia, Ohio. At age 14, he left home to attend West Farmington Academy in Ohio and Lyons Union School in New York which he earned tuition for by working a common laborer and school teacher. The Puritans believed everyone was a sinner at birth. Because of this they were unsure who was saved or were damned, and it led to them to start judging others. In the story, Hawthorne starts to uncover the dark habits of the seemingly happy community; by giving their pastor a black veil. When the pastor refuses to remove veil, the town is struck with fear. The veil sends the whole community questioning their pastor s sanity, or if he committed a horrid sin. The story highlights the Puritans belief that some are saved while others are damned, therefore, they must separate the sinners and virtuous using the binaries light, dark, feminine, and masculine; which comes together in the form of the veil. From the beginning, Hawthorne sets up a drastic contrast between before and after the appearance of the veil. Pharmacopeia (USP), gels are defined as semisolid systems consisting of either suspensions made up of small inorganic particles or large organic molecules interpenetrated by a liquid . (2) Gels are also defined as two component semi rigid systems in which the liquid continuous phase is immobilized by a cross linked three dimensional network consisting of particles or solvated macromolecules in the disperse phase. This process is referred to as swelling. This phenomenon occurs as the solvent penetrates the matrix. Gel gel interactions are replaced by gel solvent interactions. The degree of swelling depends on the number of linkages between individual molecules of gelling agent and on the strength of these linkages7, 8. B) Syneresis Many gels often contract spontaneously on standing and exude some fluid medium. This effect is known as syneresis. The degree to which syneresis occurs, increases as the concentration of gelling agent decreases. The occurrence of syneresis indicates that the original gel was thermodynamically unstable. The mechanism of contraction has been related to the relaxation of elastic stress developed during the setting of the gels. As these stresses are relieved, the interstitial space available for the solvent is reduced, forcing the liquid out. C) Ageing Colloidal systems usually exhibit slow spontaneous aggregation. This process is referred to as ageing. In gels, ageing results in gradual formation of a denser network of the gelling agent. D) Structure The rigidity of a gel arises from the presence of a network formed by the interlinking of particles of the gelling agents. • 31. Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs Essay Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: The Queen, usually known as the Evil Queen or the Wicked Queen, is the villain in the 1937 Disney animated film. This version of the character was sometimes referred to as Queen Grimhilde in Disney publications of the 1930s, and was originally voiced by Lucille La Verne. In the versions of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs that have been sanitized for children, the action of the poem usually seems to concentrate on the possibility of violence aimed at the innocent young. In those stories, although the reader assumes the queen to be motivated by her envy of Snow White s youth and beauty, her motives seem to be subsidiary to the theme of violence itself. In Sexton s version, the queen s pride, which pumped in her like a poison, is diagnosed directly as motivation. Indeed, Sexton says that before the mirror labels Snow White as the most beautiful woman in the land, the girl has been no more important to the queen than a dust mouse under the bed. The mirror s announcement makes the queen suddenly aware of encroaching age and makes her determined to kill Snow White. At the end, the queen is punished for her pride by dancing to death in the red hot shoes. Sexton goes beyond simply making the queen a villain, however. In the poem s second verse paragraph, Sexton uses the second person you to suggest to the reader that everyone is subject to the corrupting effects of pride and may be subject to its rewards. In the following you will find reviews of researcher s definitions for the concept latchkey children , and determine the contributory factors to the phenomenon of latchkey children and the impact (both positive and negative) of the latchkey situation on children s relationships. The theoretical framework guiding this research focuses on child development and family theories as well as the ecological perspectives. The discussion of these theoretical frameworks is essential in this chapter as it provides the rationale and the framework for the study. FOCUS ON SOZIALISATION II. Core A. Definitions Before researching the influence of being a latchkey child has on their socialisation and learning process, the following terms need to be clarified: 1. Socialisation According to the Oxford dictionary (2016), socialisation is the process by which an individual learns patterns of behaviour in a way that is acceptable in their society. The process ... Latchkey children STARTING POINT Today, whether this is a good thing or not, about 33 percent of all school age children, an estimated five million between ages five and 13, are so called latchkey children, a study of the City of Phoenix (2003). Furthermore, Your Family Health (2000) highlights a correlation between the continuing increase in parents working and children being home alone. As stated in the Oxford Learner s Dictionary (2016), the word latch refers to a small bar fasting a door or gate. Dowd (1991), Belle (1997) and Robinson (1986), researchers in this field, consider the term latchkey to be American and link it to the state of a child being in self care and/or care for younger siblings on a regular basis during the out of school hours, while their parents are at work. • 39. The Role Of Conspiracies In The Secret Agent Despite a lack of paranoia, The Secret Agent is a distinct example of conspiracy fiction. It exceeds the criteria necessary in addressing the mediation of the media, the conspiracies within conspiracies throughout the novel, and the sundering of the public sphere necessary for the title of conspiracy fiction. Ultimately, even the anarchist group fuelling the conspiracies is not safe from its own inner conspiracy. The novel distinctly examines how conspiracies can form within groups. Joseph Conrad achieves this in how the anarchists employ stealthy techniques and deception even amongst themselves. They conceal their motives; deliver anarchist pamphlets to incite the perceived proletariats, and revel in the unpredictability that anarchy brings. The motives fuelling their actions are concealed from one another. Moreover, even their crowning achievement in the destruction of the Greenwich observatory, has unique layers of meaning amongst the group. To the Professor, the meandering destruction sates his need for chaos and the validation of his nihilism. From Vladimir s perspective, he wields this terrorist act as a method to subvert Britain s government and promote a totalitarian order. His motives towards anarchy actually serve to dismantle it. In destroying the observatory, he seeks not to promote the destruction of government, but strengthen it. As an Agent Provocateur ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The scene starts off with a disturbing entrance: Enter Demetrius and Chiron with Lavinia, ravished; her hands cut off, and her tongue cut out. The word ravished is an oxymoron. This could be anything from a patient acquiring the infection during their hospital visit or the spreading of the infection amongst hospital staff. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has estimated that 1.7 million HAI s contribute to at least 98,000 deaths per year in the United States. On a more economical aspect; the United States spends $45 billion per year on nosocomial related health problems (Schmidt, pg 31). The transmission of any type of infection in a hospital setting requires at least three things: a source, a susceptible host, and a means of transmission. If one of these things is missing then the disease cannot spread. When looking at the whole sequence, the chain actually has six links: the infectious agent, a reservoir, a portal of exit, mode of transportation, a portal of entry, and a host. Infectious agents can be anything from a bacteria to fungi that thrive on a reservoir such as a human, soil, or even water. These agents must have a way to exit their reservoir through secretions such as blood, feces, sores, or other bodily fluids. Now that the infectious agents have left their reservoir, they are now ready to be transmitted into a susceptible host. There are many forms of transmission including direct contact, indirect contact, ingestion, airborne droplets, vectors, and fomites. Once these diseases have transmitted onto their host they need a portal of entry made of mucous membranes, broken skin, or the intestinal tract. (Schmidt, pg ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. Jealousy, Love, And Death Shakespeare is known for his use of recurring themes, particularly those of betrayal, love, and death. These themes are present in Othello. However, the most dynamic of themes in this play is jealousy. White describes jealousy as a complex of thoughts, feelings, and actions which follow threats to self esteem and/or threats to the existence or quality of a relationship (qtd in UK essays par 1). Two types of jealousy are presented to the audience in Othello; the kind of jealousy that is fear of losing what one has, and the kind that is envious of what others have. Jealousy is a prevalent theme in Othello; it is rooted by love and hope, and it leads to betrayal and death. Because of the evil nature of jealousy, the play unfolds under the authority of Iago, who uses jealousy to drive the characters actions, and ultimately concludes in the downfall of a noble man (UK Essays par 1). The audience is presented with examples of both forms of jealousy as themes in Othello. The two themes of jealousy differ, but are also quite similar. The envious jealousy is portrayed by two of the main characters, Roderigo and Iago. Both men are willing to do anything it takes to get what they want. In the beginning of the play, Roderigo, a rich gentleman, and Iago, the villain, are introduced to the audience. Iago is envious of Cassio, who was chosen by Othello to be his lieutenant. Roderigo is jealous of Othello marrying Desdemona, with whom Roderigo is in love. Iago s jealousy leads him to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As well as if the temperature of the environment that the water is placed in affects the pH balance of the water along with if bacteria is grown due to the condition it is in. Water is one of the most important things in life, being as it is known as the universal solvent, and humans and many other animals need it to survive. Along with water, the balance of pH is also extremely important in the maintenance of any organism s life, including the lives of humans. While if water with a pH above seven (basic) will not cause the person who consumes it any health effects. It will just have an alkaline taste which may not be pleasing to the consumer. pH is extremely important to our cells as a slight change in pH in our cells can be harmful. For example, if the pH of human blood is not maintained, the person will end up dying in a few minutes. pH is also important to the environment. For example, if precipitation becomes acidic (a pH of less than 5.6 is considered acidic precipitation), it can kill some organisms in the environment by interfering with the organisms chemical processes of life. If water is contaminated, it can be fatal for one to drink. Usually, water is contaminated with contaminants such as copper, lead, iron, sodium and bacteria. If water is contaminated with higher level of sodium than there is water, and a person drinks it for a long period of time, it will be unsafe, and most likely fatal to the person. This is because the person s cells will shrivel up as they are drinking a hypertonic solution. Thus if one were to drink water with a high sodium concentration than there is water, they will eventually end up being dehydrated, (due to their cells shrivelling up) and face an inevitable death if they continue to drink the water that has a high concentration of salt. I am no good at it, I don t enjoy it and I can think of better things to do on a Saturday afternoon Using attributional theories, evaluate critically the reasons why this young person does not participate in sport. How might you persuade this young person to once again take up sport? It is evident from this statement that the young person concerned has developed a poor attitude towards a balanced, active, and healthy lifestyle. They may have developed this through poor previous experiences, such as failure, which have been reinforced by others. For example missing a penalty and being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This can have a negative effect on self confidence. To change this, attribution retraining can be used. This is where the performer is encouraged to blame failure on internal/unstable factors as they can be controlled. For example, if they blame losing a tennis game on effort (unstable) then they can be encouraged to increase effort and achieve success. Currently, this person shows Need to Avoid Failure characteristics such as low self confidence and avoidance behaviour. This can be changed to a Need to Achieve personality using attribution retraining. This can help the performer develop mastery orientation which is self belief and the desire to achieve. Therefore it is important to use positive reinforcement throughout so as not to lower the young person s confidence and reduce their motivation. The young person states that they don t enjoy sport in the statement. This can be linked to the affective component of the triadic model which is what the individual feels (emotion) about the activity. There are a number of reasons why someone may not enjoy sport and they are usually due to negative past experiences, for example, being on the receiving end of hostile aggression in football. A good way to combat this negativity would be to give the individual success and raise self confidence. I am Amy Ratigan, a sophomore at Merion Mercy Academy, located outside of Philadelphia, and I am writing to you in hopes that you will consider my plan. I am proposing that when drivers turn seventy years old, they should be required to retake the driving exam. Mercury News states: According to the Institute of Highway Safety, drivers 85 years and older have the highest rate of fatal accidents per miles driven of any age group. However, if there were a law passed which required drivers to retake it age seventy, there would be a decrease in fatal accidents and an increase in safer drivers. I can say from experience that family members at home worry about their loved ones who refuse to abandon their right for freedom. With this new law, family members will be worry free, roads will be safer, and the drivers themselves will benefit with a refresher course. Families nationwide agonize ... The last major effort to have a bill passed to retake the driving test was in 1999 when a Santa Monica teen was killed by a 96 year old driver who last took the driving test eighty one years ago. Although this bill failed, I would only hope that if the driver had retaken the test, that Santa Monica teenager may still be alive today. There would be safer drivers on the road if everyone was aware of the updated laws when they reached seventy. This would eventually lead to a decrease in fatal accidents due to the fact that drivers would be more experienced and capable. Once they turned seventy, most would have taken their last driving test over 50 years ago, obviously way too long. Charles Darwin And Evolution Of Humans Tiger Sikka Mr. Pimentel WCIV H May 4th 2015 Charles Darwin (Intro) A man named Charles Darwin forever changed the world, especially within western civilizations. The idea of how humans and animals came to be was very confusing and there was no set reason of this. People forever wondered how they came to be on this planet. Many different ideas and theories were made, but there was no scientific reasoning on exactly the way humans and animals are here. Today, the theory is still in debate. It is possible that in the future someone may be able to figure it out, but it is also possible that it will be a mystery forever. One major belief in how humans and animals came to be was all changed through the theory of Charles Darwin and evolution through natural selection. His theory states that all life is related and has descended from a common ancestor and that natural selection brings upon evolution. Although it may or may not be the exact reason of how humans and animals came to be, it gave a huge sense of explanation of one idea that changed western civilization greatly. Because of his theory, Darwin has changed everyone s thoughts on life, (2nd argument), biology, religion, and society. FIX LATER WHEN DONE.
