Is Canada Is A Wonderful Place
Canada is a wonderful place to live in, their are all sorts of things to love about this country. Whether
you live in the North, East, South, or West side of Canada it s all beautiful in it s own way. Canada has
so much diversity in culture, people, landform, and much more.
The Northern part of Canada is quite the scene, though it s like a freezer in there the land there is so
much more unique from the other parts of Canada. The rocky mountains, glaciers, and valleys make it
stand out more from all the other parts. Considering the climate there. It may seem like only snow and
ice there, but there is so much more, like the Mackenzie River that flows through there isn t even
frozen. The Northern part is also rich in gold as there is a gold mine

Essay On Athenian Democracy
Is Athenian, Greece s Democracy Truly a Democracy?
Democracy is the government plan that everyone is truly equal in power, no matter what you are like
compared to other people. The creation of democracy is usually credited to ancient Greece, more
specifically Athens, where it was known as demokratia. And yes, they may have not had much in the
way of a leader, as they had a giant political debate with five hundred men instead, (and Pericles l
guess) but today I m going to show you why l think this is wrong.
To begin, when you think democracy, you think that everyone, regardless of race, age, gender, et
cetera, is equal in power, obviously. Well, that may not be true in today s government, children can t
vote till there eighteen, and immigrants have to wait at least ten or so years to vote even if they re
already old enough. Now, that may be hypocritical, but in Greece, it gets better. In ancient Greece, not
only can children not vote till there eighteen, sometimes older, (More on that later) and metics (Fancy
speak for foreigners) couldn t vote at all, even if they were from the same country, as long as they
weren t from Athens, same goes for women for no real reason, and Greece made people who couldn t
pay for others goods become slaves, oh how equal, which couldn t vote. So bringing that all together,

I mean, while Greece may have been the people who came up with the idea of Democracy, they didn t
execute it well. However, it could be better, if we were to make a government more like it. Hold on,
don t leave, I mean if we had our government use ideas of the greek government, but not everything.
For example: we had it where we had a court of law determine whether someone s considered a
citizen or not. However, their biography must be used instead of just their looks so people can vote
even if they are short. However, we re looking at how it is at current, and it is

The Sculpture Of The Etruscan- Roman Tradition
In the early official and private portrait of the Etruscan Roman tradition, the achievement of sculpture
from the identity of the ideal Republican demonstrated motivation behind the virtus, veristic, and
gravitas qualities. The Etruscan Roman portrait sculpture of the Patrician Carrying Portrait Busts of
Two Ancestors is a life size marble statue that was dated to the period of the Emperor Augustus
somewhere at the end of the 1st century BCE or the beginning of the 1st century CE, reflecting the
practices that have originated from the past by Polybius.
This Etruscan Roman piece of art is detailed all around, but also ideal as depictions look influential
throughout the generations from the living patrician man holding the lifeless portrait busts of the two
very distinct ancestors. The surface of the marble used to carve the male figure, and the portrait heads
is very smooth and pale in colour, as the natural agent simulates realistic complexion through the
veins present within the marble creating a three dimensional illusion of meticulous naturalistic
rendition of the human anatomy engraved with relief detail all around. The function of the portrait
sculpture was to have a permanent documentation motivated by the realistic commemoration of one s
ancestors in a religious and ritualistic funeral use of death masks, that would have been cast from the
face of the deceased. This became an obvious style of presenting recognizable prestige that conveyed
the significance of

Sizwe Bansi Demonstrates the Imperative for the Black...
Sizwe Bansi demonstrates the imperative for the black person in South Africa to be an actor to present
an enforcedly acceptable mask to his or her white masters (crow). Discuss the relationship between
acting and identity in two plays on the course.
Identity and acting are massive themes within both Sizwe Bansi Is Dead and Death And The Kings
Horseman. In both plays, the black people are enforced by the whites to behave in a certain way. Some
do this In order to live an easy life or for other reasons such as survival or to provide for there
families, but some resist by retaining there cultural values, or revolting. But the relationship between
acting and identity is of great importance, as within both books there is resistance and ... Show more

Also, In Death And The Kings Horseman, it shows that Elusin see s Pilkings as a white man who stole
his first born son Olunde and rather than say educate him, he says so you could turn him into
something of your own image (Soyinka 1998, 68). Which is an important statement to show the black
feeling towards the white man and what they are doing to the black man. This statement shows that
Elusin thinks that, the white man is not educating or showing the black man new things and culture,
but they are turning them into an image. The word image is important as it could mean that they are
turning into them into a copy or a non real version. As an image isn t the actual thing, this could be
interpreted as that the white man is instilling a false identity on the black man, making them act in a
certain way. It symbolises that Elusin who is a leader so he speaks for his followers, believes that the
white culture being instilled on the black culture is not a real form of identity, so ultimately the blacks
are also disregarding the whites as an actual identity. So it could be argued that here in what Elusin
states shows an opinion much like the whites on the black identity and culture. I speak about culture as
identity as it seems that within both plays, ones own culture and heritage is there identity. For example
Sizwe Bansi inherited his name and is reluctant to lose it, and in Death and The Kings Horseman,

The Battle of Fredericksburg Essay
The Battle of Fredericksburg falls in a long list of failures of the Army of the Potomac during the first
year of the American Civil War. Following the Battle of Antietam the Northern Army had the
opportunity to defeat Lee s army. However, Northerners, were shocked by Lee s escape following this
battle on 17 September 1862, and were further upset by Major General George B. McClellan s
procrastination in pursuing Lee and allowing General J.E.B. Stuarts daring cavalry raid into
Pennsylvania around Gettysburg (10 12 October 1862). McClellan s failure to pursue Lee s Army is
mainly due to his own lack of confidence, believing that he doesn t have enough men or material in
order to defeat the Army of Virginia. President Lincoln had finally ... Show more content on

Lincoln felt that the destruction of Lee s army should be the primary goal, not the capture of a
Southern city, however, he approved Burnside s plan. This was mainly due to the fact that Burnside
was actually moving the army in pursuit of Lee. Burnside s first act as commander was to divide his
army into three grand divisions, the right commanded by Major General Sumner, the center
commanded by Major General Hooker, and the left commanded by Major General Franklin. Once this
was completed he set forth for Virginia with a compliment of 100,000 men.
General Lee had at his disposal two army Corps, the First Corps was commanded by Lieutenant
General James Longstreet and the Second Corps was commanded by Lieutenant General Thomas
Jackson. Both of these corps comprised of 35,000 men for a total of 70,000 men. After leaving
Maryland, Lee decided to divide his army by sending the Second Corps to the Shenandoah Valley
towards Winchester Virginia and the other towards Culpeper station Virginia in order to see what the
North was going to do. The Confederate cavalry were a little slow in detecting the move of Sumter s
grand division, and it was three days before Lee knew about it and could order Longstreet to intercept
the Federals. This allowed the first elements of Northern forces to arrive at Falmouth two days after

Evolution Of Database Management Systems
EVOLUTION OF DBMS
1.INTRODUCTION
As technology is rapidly emerging and changing, organizations are quickly adapting to it, and with
this technology and software advancement includes database management systems. Database
management systems have become a crucial tool in every organization. It will be rather more
surprising to see a company not using DBMS in this age. As organizations emerge and grow by years,
they have numerous data sets to handle and database management systems is a software application
which helps organizations perform this mundane task easily. It collects, organizes the databases and
also stores and performs functions on the databases making it easier for users to access. Now days, an
organization wouldn t survive without data and information. The way this data is important for an
organization, to manage this data is equally important. Database management systems has become a
part of every field right from schools, libraries, medical centers, airlines, chemical plants etcetera.
With the effective use of database management systems software in organizations, it comes with
advantages and disadvantages which will be later explained in the findings section of this paper.
The research would concentrate more on how database management system applications have
progressed since the past decade. The research objective is to study the evolution of DBMS and learn
about the emerging alternative applications for this traditional system. The positive and negative

Review of Article on Arsenic Crisis in Bangladesh
Summary: The people of Bangladesh were dying and getting ill from water. This water was provided
through tube wells that were connected to an underground aquifer. Such actions were taken on the
1980 s, when many children died from diarrhea. This project facilitated the lives of many since their
people did not have to walk long distances and carry heavy jars full of water. Unfortunately, the water
was not checked for arsenic. A dermatologist believed the water from the tube wells contained arsenic
but the British Geological Survey insisted it was safe. Today the tubewells are known to have 50
micrograms of arsenic per liter. The article also explains some of the symptoms that could be
experienced after 10 years of consuming arsenic contaminated water, these include: black spots,
conjunctivitis, bronchitis, diarrhea, etc. The Bangladesh government borrowed money but has not yet
taken action since they do not know how to solve this issue. The Bangladesh Rural Advancement
Committee trained 160 volunteers to test the tubewells and identify the symptoms of arsenicosis.
Many of their volunteers also made maps to inform people of safe tubewells and ponds. 1. What was
the purpose or point in writing this article? This article was written to inform people of the hardships

This means that in the second quarter of each year Cabela s sell its inventory at a slower rate than the
rest of the quarters. The Day s Held ratio calculates how long it takes a company turn inventory into
sales. Cabela s sells mostly goods that are non perishable, meaning that their goods can last in their
shelves much longer. For Cabela s there is a continuous pattern showing their days held in inventory
ratio being much lower in the 4th quarter of each year. This may be due to consumers purchasing gifts
for the holiday season.
Dick s Sporting Goods
Dick s Sportings goods saw relative increases in both their inventory and COGS over the period. Their
inventory percentage change/overall sales change for the period, and their COGS percentage
change/overall sales change for the period experienced very similar fluctuations across the period.
Both ratios saw a sharp decline from 2006 2007, indicating the time of the recession. The inventory %
change ratio even dropped to 2.3%. Since 2008, both ratios have seen minor increases and decreases.
Dick s sporting goods inventory turnover ratio increased by an overall percent of 8.82%. This means
that the company is 8.82% better (quicker) at selling its inventory after they have purchased it. They
seem to have their highest turnover ratios in the fourth quarter of every year. Their most recent
inventory turnover ratio is 3.7x, with a DIO (Days in Inventory Ratio) of 97.8 days. This means that it

Analysis Of Technology-Based Education
Another challenge for TBE is the need for compatible technology. In order for learning programs to
share and recycle content, the content needs to be able to interface with a variety of learning
management systems as well as different computer operating systems. For example, Apple computers
have a unique operating system to the more common Windows operating system. Nevertheless, as
these systems were designed, developers can create learning content specific to each system. All that
is needed in order for this to function well is for these developers to figure out how to efficiently
integrate a single TBE program into multiple operating systems. This may lead to high development
costs but within the past five years, leading organizations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
TBE degree programs still lack the level of credibility traditional degree programs. For example,
companies looking to hire degree recipients tend to hire applicants who have received their degree
thru a traditional institution rather than someone who took it online. Additionally, some companies are
skeptical on hiring someone who has taken online classes due to the reason that it isn t socially
accepted as a viable way to obtain a degree. In general, they are concerned that TBE is more
susceptible to cheating and poor quality than traditional face to face and classroom based learning.
The only way for this to resolve itself is time because eventually it will find its way to the modern eye
of everyone.
Although rigorous wide scale research evaluating TBE s effectiveness by any of these criteria is thin,
the available evidence points out that TBE generally seems to work at least as well as traditional
approaches and is often more efficient in costs. Nonetheless, it also seems clear that, to realize its full
potential, TBE should not forgo opportunities for human interaction either face to face or
electronically. It should also provide opportunities for the active engagement of learners, provide
content that is relevant and linked with what learners already know, and offer opportunities for
feedback and support. TBE is rapidly evolving in adopting different principles and methods in
providing everything a stable

Setting Analysis and Symbolism of Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
In Wuthering Heights, Emily Bronte uses the setting of the English Moors, a setting she is familiar
with, to place two manors, Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange. The first symbolizes man s
dark side while the latter symbolizes an artificial utopia. This 19th century setting allows the reader to
see the destructive nature of love when one loves the wrong person. The manor Wuthering Heights is
described as dark and demonic. In the English moors, winter lasted three times as long as summer and
the Heights and the land adjacent to it can be compared to winter, while Thrushcross Grange can be
described as the summer. Bronte describes the Heights as a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Her every need is taken care of. Later, when she is confronted by Heathcliff, she is reminded of
Wuthering Heights and begins to miss the place she once was so eager to leave. Catherine begins to
see the Grange as superficial and confining, and at first she is only annoyed by this, but eventually the
suffocating enclosure causes Catherine to lash out at her husband and all the Grange represents.
Catherine, aware of her incestuous attraction to Heathcliff, believes the Grange is destroying her, and
because of her disgust of the Grange and her sense of guilt, it does. In the process, Edgar too must
suffer Catherine s pain because of his love for her. While Wuthering Heights was a symbol of darkness
and winter, Thrushcross Grange could only be described as its opposite. Thrushcross Grange can be
seen as a happy place that is light and summery. Its inhabitants are blissful and naive. They did not
worry or have to fend for themselves because there is always money and servants to wait on them. The
inhabitants of the house are ignorant of the cruelties and injustices of the outside world. When

Pros And Cons Of School Uniforms
Should students wear school uniforms? This is a topic that has been thoroughly argued, yet to no
prevail on either side. I believe school uniforms overall impact children and the education community
negatively. There are many strong reasons to turn down this policy. These include how the uniforms
effect the children and their learning, the sneakiness behind school administrations who utilize this
system, and how the children feel about the uniforms.
First, is how the uniforms affect the children in a negative way. I know a family just a few houses up
the street whose kids go to a Catholic school. Religion set aside, they have to wear uniforms to school.
Often I see them getting out of the car, ripping off their bows and ties with a sort of disgust. My friend
from that family, Aaron, states on the topic, They are uncomfortable, which actually distracts me more
from learning and paying attention. This shows how school uniforms affect the learning environment
negatively and impact children in a negative way. Everyone has heard the phrase, if you get hurt it s
your own fault. But what if you never get the chance to be hurt? You ll never learn. It s the same way
with something as simple as clothing. If children wear vulgar clothing to school then you can talk to
them and tell them it s wrong. It is bad preparation for the real world if we are telling children what to
do, rather than letting them learn to better prepare themselves for the real world.
Next, is the sneakiness behind the administration and their altered statistics. Long beach California is a
town that incorporates school uniforms into their schooling. The district claims the academic success
and low violence rates are due to the school uniforms. They did leave out the other improvements in
their districts including, promotion of conflict resolution, peer mediation, and parental involvement.
The superintendent of this district made a comment to the Harvard Education Letter stating, It is really
hard to know exactly what is causing the positive effect. This shows how districts are hiding other
information to promote how well uniforms fix problems when in reality, it could be many things. The

Corporations That Influence Public Art Museum
Corporations and Their Influence in Support for Public Art Museums
Statement of Intent Historically, museums have relied on four sources of financial support: individual
contributions, corporate and foundation support, earned revenues, and government grants. This paper
focuses on present day corporate support for art and the museums that collect and display that art. It
urges museums to reassess their assumptions about corporations and suggests ways that museums can
develop new approaches to align their solicitation of support with changing corporate objectives.

Thus arts organizations must act to align their needs with the evolving requirements of corporate
benefactors if lasting partnerships are to be formed. Museums must position their brand to
corporations as places of value, enhancement and richness to local communities. Corporations need to
reevaluate museums as a pillar for support on par with any other social cause, with value for society at
large. With better understanding of the overlap of objectives both corporations and arts organizations
share, public museums can offer creative, outside the box thinking in seeking corporate support.
Museum development professionals can better understand the value to not only maintain existing
resources, but ways to seek new partners through innovative corporate engagement by aligning
museum programming and values with the increasingly social and environmental causes corporations
have come to identify. By observing trends in federal and corporate funding for the arts and funding
shifts, this capstone will explore why corporations who currently support public art do so through
funding and art collections, and their increasing needs for employee engagement. Understanding the
relationship history corporate America and art share, and the wide reaches art has made in

How Norman Castles Changed During The Middle Ages
Introduction
Castles first came to England in 1066 when William, Duke of Normandy, won the battle of Hastings.
The Normans needed castles because they had taken control of England by force and were hated by
many English people. The Normans had to protect themselves from English rebellions and they
needed to keep power over and show strength to the English people. William made sure that castles
were built all over England in major towns. The first castles were built very quickly and were very
simple, but during the reign of William and throughout the rest of the Middle Ages (1066 1500) the
design of castles changed. In this essay I will talk about how much castles changed during the Middle
Ages and the reasons for this.

Better living conditions for the Norman barons with bedrooms, kitchens, a chapel and toilets
(Garderobes).
Square Keep castles had lots of strengths: They were a show of power against the English and really
difficult to attack because of their thick stone walls and height. They also gave better living
conditions. They did still have weaknesses though: They were expensive, took a long time to build,
they could not be moved and they could still be attacked by enemies by:
Setting really hot fires under the corners (weak points) until they collapsed.
Using battering rams.
Starving out the Normans by not letting food in.
Tunneling and mining under the castle walls.
Using archers and catapults to fire arrows and rocks over the castle walls.
The corners were blind spots an attacker could hide behind corners.
These problems led to a change of design towards the end of the 12th Century once Edward I became
king. Under his reign the design of round stone castles and keeps began. The round castle keep meant
that there was nowhere the enemy could not be seen and took away the weaknesses of having corners.
Concentric Castles (1239 1400)
Concentric castles were a castle within a castle idea and were built to be as difficult to attack as
possible. Castles were very important as there were still lots of wars in England with many people
fighting for power.

Mitigating Human Rights and Security Abuses
The international community, although faced with many obstacles, can do more to improve how
people are treated in situations where human rights abuses could be occurring. Abuses against human
rights have occurred for a number of years, most notably against the Jews in World War Two. A
modern example where both Human security and rights have been impeded upon is in the context of
the ongoing Syrian conflict. War crimes are widely known to have been perpetrated by the Syrian
government and the resulting violence has left millions of Syrians displaced. The international
community has been alarmed at the seeming inaction of the United Nations in response to the Crisis
and feel that the international community could be doing a lot more to ... Show more content on

While this is true, they were punished through forms of torture which is explicitly outlawed in the UN
s 1984 convention against torture. The Syrian governments violations of human rights impact upon the
security of the Syrian people because being deprived of basic rights and freedoms places them at
grave risk of violence and harsh punishment from the state. The conflict quickly escalated to a point
where both sides have now been found guilty of committing war crimes such as torture and hostage
taking.
The extent to which human rights abuses have been occurring has alarmed the international
community and has prompted condemnation from international organisations such as the UN and
NATO. In spite of this condemnation however, little ground has actually been made in reducing
human rights abuses in Syria and upholding the security of its people. What little action that has
occurred includes Syria being convinced largely of the back of pressure from the US and Russia to
adopt ratify the UN treat against chemical weapons which it did so in September 2013 The
improvements made in Syria are minute though because rights breaches continue to occur in ways
which hugely threaten human security. Approximately 9 million Syrians have been displaced from
their homes in the wake of the civil war which has seen the government bomb towns where rebels
were supposedly hiding out. The current situation in Syria has resulted in decreased security for its
people which, in turn,

Acid Fracturing Treatment in an Iranian Carbonated Reservoir
Acid fracturing is a sensitive stimulation technique that has been widely used by the oil industry but is
limited to so many considerations. An acid fracturing treatment must produce a conductive flow
channel long enough to alter the flow pattern in the reservoir from a radial pattern to one that
approaches linear flow. This needs high rate of acid flow completed with formation solution in acid.
Considering the above restrictions imposed by acid fracturing, its applicability is limited to special
cases where no better solution is available especially in Iranian oil fields. In this paper, one of these
special cases is studied occurred in a carbonate reservoir in Iran. This was the first successful acid
fracturing operation in an Iranian reservoir which makes the condition so delicate and unique as there
was so many uncertainties and lack of experience. As we know, hydraulic fracturing has been used
worldwide in damaged formations and formations with low conductivity but performing acid
fracturing has been limited to so many operational and reservoir restriction. The main difference
between acid fracturing and proppant fracturing is the way fracture conductivity is created. In
proppant fracturing, a propping agent is used to prop open the fracture after the treatment is
completed. In acid fracturing, acid is used to etch channels in the rock that comprise the walls of the
fracture. Thus, the rock has to be partially soluble in acid so that channels can be etched in the

How To Pursue My K-12 Magnet School

My K 12 magnet school is one of the very few schools in the country that teaches students at an early
age how to entertain multiple ideas by using Paideia seminars which incorporate open ended questions

while accepting others was an important skill for this journey. The idea that there is no right or wrong,
just different, was something I had not been able to fully understand until my foreign study
experience. For example, Argentineans ability to vote before they could drive seemed strange to me,
but I began to realize that Americans driving at 16 was just as strange. It became apparent that easing
my way in wouldn t be an option, having just six weeks to make my best attempt at cultural
immersion. Just drinking mate , the bitter, loose leaf tea nearly all of Argentina drinks, was an
experience. Overcoming the American perspective on sweetness and the sharing of drinks was
difficult, as I watched teachers and students drinking from the same metal straw and steaming gourd

Airbags Research Paper
If you are looking for a Houston car crash lawyer, there is an excellent chance that you recently had a
close encounter with an airbag. Airbags are designed to prevent injuries in the event of a collision.
Depending on the vehicle, the airbag may be released from the dashboard, the steering wheel or the
doors of the vehicle. Although these devices are exceptionally simple in design, they still feature some
innovative pieces of technology. In order to be effective, the airbag must open faster than a car can
crash. While you may be hitting another vehicle at 60 mph, your airbag is moving at a speed of 200
mph to keep up.
To test an airbag, car companies employ crash test dummies. Obviously, real people would be too
dangerous for testing, so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like everything else on earth, airbags and car accidents are subject to the laws of physics. Basically,
something that is heavier or faster will have more kinetic energy. If you crash into something, this
means that a heavier car or faster speed will be throwing more force into the crash. Modern cars are
made to crumple on impact and take some of this force, but vehicle design is not always enough.
While your car structure is crumpling to take on the force of the crash, the people and items in the
vehicle still have kinetic energy as well. This means that your car will lose energy and stop moving,
but your body will still be flying through space. Seatbelts will stop your body from moving, but your
head will keep moving forward. In severe accidents, this can cause your head to slam into the
windshield or steering wheel. To prevent this from happening, airbags are used to slow down the
momentum of your head. As your head hits the airbag, the nylon bag deflates so that your head does
not end up bouncing back into the seat. If you were recently in a car accident and this did not occur,
you should contact a Houston auto wreck attorney to talk about your

Essay on Determination
Some people believe that talent and a winning attitude are all you need in order to succeed in your
endeavors, but a winning attitude means having determination, which many people lack. As seen on
wisdomforthesoul.org, Real leaders are ordinary people with extraordinary determination.
Determination is an important factor in the overall success or failure of a person s efforts.
Unfortunately, determination is not something that comes easy to the majority of people. To be truly
determined, a person must first be passionate about what they re doing. Passion, however, is only the
first step towards resolution and determination. One must have a clear goal in mind, and be willing to

(www.merriam webster.com) This is synonymous with my personal definition of determination. When
the end is decided upon, there is no reason or desire to change said goal. A person under the influence
of determination is comparable to a train. The train will not change its direction, as it cannot, and no
matter what, the train will continue along the tracks until it either reaches its destination, or is stopped
by the conductor. For as an example, my plan after high school is to go to college, and then move into
the professional world. When confronted about possibly wanting to join the military, my answer is
absolutely not. Going to college right after high school has always been my mindset, and there s no
way my determination will let that change. I am the metaphorical train, because my destination is set,
and there s no chance for me to adjust my direction. I will not stray from my goal, because it would
mean wrecking myself and all those involved in my endeavors. There will be mountains in front of
me, and people I may have to run over to reach my goal, but when one s mind is set, they will not
waver, and neither will I.
Another dictionary defines determination as firmness of purpose (thefreedictionary.com). When one is
determined, they are ready for what life throws at them, because no matter how obscure the path may
be, they always have a clear view of their final destination. To be determined means to always know

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. Essay
Introduction The business case study proposal is a company case about General Atomics Aeronautical
Systems, Inc. (GAASI), the leading developer of unmanned aeronautical platform technologies (ga

value chain orchestrator (Mudambi, 2008) of remotely piloted aircraft, also referred to unmanned
aerial vehicles (UAV) or drones, to the United States (US) government agencies since inception of the
highly innovative technology in the early 1990s. Reductions in the US defense budget, sequestration
and increased competition from other US based UAV platform providers such as Northrup Grumman
and Boeing (Hoovers Company Profile, 2016) has slowed GAASI sales to US and European allies in
recent years and caused layoff concerns (Shalal Esa, 2013).
Issue GAASI is considering entering the growing, but more uncertain India UAV market to offset the
reduction in UAV sales to advanced economies.
Company Overview GAASI, affiliate of privately owned General Atomics is headquartered in

Atrial Fibrillation Research Paper
Atrial fibrillation is a condition that the heart beat irregularly and often rapidly. Normally, a sinoatrial
node (SA node) in the right atrium of the heart acts as the heart s natural pacemaker and generates
electrical signals to start the heart beating in an organized way. It allows atria to contract and squeeze
regularly traveling the electrical signals through the atrioventricular node (AV node) which is situated
in the centre of the heart between the atria and ventricles, the electrical signals then steadily pass
through to the ventricles keeping the heart beating constantly and blood flowing to the lungs and body.
This impulse allows the atria and ventricles work together to maintain a normal sinus rhythm of the
heartbeat. In AF, the

Call Of The Wild Identity Essay
Identity is something that is very important to who we are and how we interact with others. Much of
this is influenced by our surroundings and the conditions that we are presented with. Buck in The Call
of the Wild begins his transformation into a beast when he is thrown into the grim terrain of the north.
Along with this, the American people during the Frontier were shaped by the open land in the west
that they were forced to adapt to. In the Call of the Wild and Turner s Frontier Thesis, both Buck and
the American people s identity were shaped because of the surrounding geography.
Initially in the story, Buck had it easy. He was born a domesticated St. Bernard/Scotch shepherd who
lived with Judge Miller in the sun kissed Santa Clara ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This transition completely transformed the life of Buck forever. While being transported from place to
place, his pride suffered an utter blow. He was no longer in this domain where he could freely live.
Instead, he was constantly conformed, handled, and controlled by the power of others. One major
strike at Buck s pride occurred when he was beaten by the man with the club. After he is hit, it is clear
that, the club was a revelation. It was his introduction to the reign of primitive law, and he met the
introduction halfway (London 6). This shows that as Buck moves further and further from home, he
begins to stray away from his previous way of life. His domestic nature fades away and the inner beast
inside of him is revealed.
As Buck enters an unfamiliar world as a wild sled dog, he undergoes many physical changes. The
grim geography of the rigid north had many adverse effects on Buck s once pristine build. One
example of Buck suffering physically is when he experiences extreme pain in his feet caused by the
rugged terrain of the journey north. Buck s feet were not so compact and hard as the feet of the
huskies. His had softened during the many generations since the day his last wild ancestor was tamed
by a cave dweller or river man (London 18). This shows that as Buck treks across the ice and snow
with the rest of the pack, his feet become weathered and wounded. His feet are not as tough as the
other dogs due to his upbringing and his ancestral history. Along

Giving the responsibilities of creating and executing the budget to department heads or at least a

of any department, then the power would shift up to the director and the board members. They would

The next category that the financial mission statement tries to fill is priorities. Maintaining current

Expectations versus Reality in Stephen Crane s The Red Badge of Courage
The notion that war is an exciting, romantic endeavor full of glory and heroism has existed for
centuries. Stephen Crane set out to demystify war through his novel The Red Badge of Courage,
which traces the experiences of a young soldier in the American Civil War. Crane shows the true
nature of war by contrasting Henry Fleming s romantic expectations with the reality that he
encounters.
This contrast between romantic vision and cold reality can be seen early in the novel, with Henry s
departure from home. Driven to a prolonged ecstasy of excitement by the rejoicing crowd, Henry

The contrast is again evident in Henry s army experiences before going into battle. His treatment
before leaving town only serves to increase his romantic expectations as his former classmates

journey to Washington that he is led to believe that he must be a hero with the strength to do mighty
deeds of arms (711). In keeping with his romantic beliefs, Henry imagines that his regiment will be
involved in a series of death struggles with small time in between for sleep and meals (711).
Yet again, Crane presents a more realistic view in Henry s actual experiences. Instead of automatically
being a hero, as he had anticipated, Henry faces uncertainty and a little panic fear as to his own ability
to withstand battle (712). Filled with self doubt, Henry dreams of a thousand tongued fear that [will]
babble at his back and cause him to flee (718). In addition, Henry must put up with months of
monotonous life in a camp, not the constant action he anticipated (711). Even when his regiment does
move out, it moves from place to place with apparent aimlessness, leaving a frustrated Henry to feel
that he is merely one part of a vast blue demonstration (722).
It is in the scenes of battle and death, however, that the contrast between Henry s romantic
expectations and his actual experiences

Desire Under The Elms By Eugene O Neill
Desire Under the Elms by Eugene O Neill is a modern twist on the mythological tale of Phaedra and
Hippolytus. In writing this piece, in 1924, O Neill delivers a captivating and somewhat comical
version of the classic myth. Stuck in the transition from the Modernism to Postmodernism
movements, O Neill struggled to define himself as either a modernist or postmodernist. The
Modernism movement is made up of a variety of different movements: philosophical, artistic, and
literary. The artistic and literary Modernism movement, which occurred in the late 19th and early 20th
century, is marked by the concepts of experimentation and individualism, signifying sudden breaks
with traditional values of literature, philosophy, and culture. In comparison, postmodernism, which
developed in the mid to late 20th century held the idea that reality is not based on societal
understanding of it, but, on individual perception and interpretation. While both have similarities, the
perceptions of individuality in these movements differ on a relatively large scale.
In the Modernist movement, it was socially correct to adhere to what was specifically deemed
acceptable. In contrast, in the postmodernist movement, one style of living was not any less acceptable
than another because each person determined what is considered valuable to them individually.
Though modernism and postmodernism are marked by distinctive ways of thinking and social norms,
these periods actually faced quite an overlap. While

Al-Shabaab Terrorist Group
Introduction:
Al Shabaab as a terrorist group poses a significant threat in Somalia and in the global community. This
paper will start by discussing the background. In this part the paper will show how the group has
evolved from Al Ittihad Al Islam (AIAI) to the Islamic Court Union (ICU) and lastly to Al Shabaab.
Before discussing the group s threat of national security, homeland and international, this paper will
provide the conceptual meaning of key terminology, such as national security, homeland security,
international security and globalization. It is important to understand these concepts before moving
toward the main argument of the paper. After providing the framework for key concepts, the paper will
discuss the group s threat to Somalia in two areas, national security and homeland security. The paper
will go further and identify the threats posed by the group on other nations homeland security and
international security. We will use East African countries and the United States examples. The paper
will provide evidence to support how globalization has shaped and fueled the threats from Al Shabaab.
It will then discuss the primary response from the United States and from African countries through
AMISOM. The paper will provide the way forward and suggestions for the response of the
international community to Al Shabaab. In conclusion, we will try to alert the international community
that although the group has been experience hard times in Somalia, it is unwise to

Moral Suicide In I Am Charlotte Simmons
David Brooks Moral Suicide begins with him lamenting how easy it is to criticize a Tom Wolfe novel.
However, Brooks decides to instead to debate the books ideas on the climate of morality today. The
plot of the newest Wolfe novel I Am Charlotte Simmons, follows the eponymous character moving
from her small town in North Carolina to a high end university only to discover its moral decay. Wolfe
describes college like a festering hell hole with no regards to morality and all that it entails. He
describes a moral decay taking place, calling it a moral suicide. Brooks criticizes Wolfe s portrayal of
college students as these sort of gremlins that have no care for the discord they cause. However, he
believes that Wolfe has stumbled upon something worthwhile, while students minds are developed,
their character is not.
In the book, I Am Charlotte Simmons, the main character heads off to college only to discover ...

But he s located one the paradoxes of the age. Highly educated young people are tutored, taught, and
monitored in all aspects of their lives, except the most important, which is character building
(Paragraph 12). Brooks argues that we as a society have been so focused on preparing a kids for
academia, we have forgotten to prepare them for the real world. We have coddled them all of their
lives only to throw them out into the world where they don t understand how things work. Basically,
they are becoming a hollow shell of insecurities rather than a complete person. It is not like Brooks is
just some random guy off the street, he is a published author who happens to be a cultural
commentator. In other words, he is perfectly qualified to espouse these views. Personally, there have
been many occasions where such a thing has been witnessed both in public and in private. There is
some kernels of truth here, even if there are some differences in

Analysis Of Videotape By Don Delillo
Somebody Got Murdered Nowadays, Americans find violence entertaining. It is recorded, viewed, and
shared constantly. In Don DeLillo s short story, Videotape a young girl recorded a man that was shot
while driving in a car; the video was shown on the news repetitively. The short story revolves around a
man at home attentively watching the video; he continuously called on his wife to watch the video
with him. This videotape represents how everyone is being desensitized to violence, how there is a
growing obsession with violence, and how quickly life can be taken away. This short story speaks not
only around the content of the videotape, but also on the man that is viewing the tape; he watches the
video and becomes desensitized to violence. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The beginning of the video shows the man waving at the young twelve year old girl that is recording
in the car in front of him. In the next instance, he is shot in the head. The unexpectedness is captured
when DeLillo wrote, It demonstrates the elemental truth, that every breath you take has two possible
endings (79). The statement is terrifying, yet completely eye opening; no one expected for that man to
be killed. That quote proves how no one ever knows when their life will be taken away. Another quote
that has the same effect is, There s something here that speaks to you directly, saying terrible things
about forces beyond your control (DeLillo 77). It is a common thought that there is no control
whatsoever on the matters of death. The forces that are spoken of in the sentence are open to
interpretation. That man s life was controlled by everyone else except himself. When the viewer
realizes that he is practically rubbing the tape in his wife s face, he admitted, ...this is the risk of
existing (DeLillo 79). This statement is interpreted as the fact that there are risks no matter what
anyone does. Merely being alive is a risk as

Reflection For My Citizenship Project
Reflection
For my citizenship project, I chose to volunteer at the Daniel Stowe Botanical garden. My goal was to
obtain 15 hours of community service by volunteering for educational assistant, horticulture crew, and
at the holiday at the garden events. To reach my goal, I had to figure out two major problems. When to
volunteer and my transportation. In order to make my project possible, I had to work with my parents.
By looking at an online calendar, we were able to schedule when I can volunteer and my event. We
decided that I could volunteer in the morning during winter break, and my parents would drop and
pick me up. Before my first day volunteering, i felt more nervous than excited. I was completely
clueless and worried that I wouldn t be able to do my job properly. I was afraid that I might become
loss, or that I might have signed up incorrectly. Most of all, I was afraid that I ll would embarrass
myself. What made it vene more nerve wrecking was that I had no friends or family to volunteer with
me, so I was hesitant with working with a stranger much older than me. Despite my worries, I was
excited to see the garden. I wanted to compare the botanical garden in Las Vegas to the one I am
currently volunteering at. I was especially enthusiastic about the arts and crafts I will be creating on
my first day.
I volunteered a total of __ days, each day brought a new experience and improved my communication
skills. I started off volunteering at the fairy fest. It was a

Types Of Magazine Clipping
One category of magazine clippings that I chose to include was famous people. The first clipping in
this category is Barack Obama. This picture is very important because he was our President and leader
of the U.S. for eight years in a row. The next magazine clipping is a U.S soldier. He is important
because he part of a group that fights and protects our country and our freedom. Another clipping is a
picture of Vic Beasley. He s important because he use to play for the Clemson Tigers a while back and
that was the team that won the 2017 College Football Playoff National Championship game. The last
magazine clipping is an Alabama football player. This picture is meaningful because this team was in
the National Championship game against the Clemson Tigers and they lost by 4 points. Another
category of magazine clippings that I chose to include was objects. The first part of this category is
things that resemble more of the american freedom like a pocket knife, american flag, guns, peace
corp badge, and the Democratic donkey and Republican elephant. These objects are important because
they all have to do with american freedom whether it be protecting the country, having your own
beliefs, and just having peace. The next part of this category is things that people spend money on like
a cubs hat, iphone 5s, electronic cigarettes, and Christmas wrapping paper. These kinds of objects are
important because people spend a lot of money on all these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The first part of this category has pictures of a bowl of mac and cheese, whole grain spaghetti, turkey,
and ice cream. These pictures are important because they are very common american food that is eaten
everyday. The next part of this category features pictures of a box of twinkies, Tootsie roll, bag of
milky ways, and a root beer bottle. These kinds of pictures are important because they are things that
the U.S loves and doesn t want to be distance

  • 3. Essay On Athenian Democracy Is Athenian, Greece s Democracy Truly a Democracy? Democracy is the government plan that everyone is truly equal in power, no matter what you are like compared to other people. The creation of democracy is usually credited to ancient Greece, more specifically Athens, where it was known as demokratia. And yes, they may have not had much in the way of a leader, as they had a giant political debate with five hundred men instead, (and Pericles l guess) but today I m going to show you why l think this is wrong. To begin, when you think democracy, you think that everyone, regardless of race, age, gender, et cetera, is equal in power, obviously. Well, that may not be true in today s government, children can t vote till there eighteen, and immigrants have to wait at least ten or so years to vote even if they re already old enough. Now, that may be hypocritical, but in Greece, it gets better. In ancient Greece, not only can children not vote till there eighteen, sometimes older, (More on that later) and metics (Fancy speak for foreigners) couldn t vote at all, even if they were from the same country, as long as they weren t from Athens, same goes for women for no real reason, and Greece made people who couldn t pay for others goods become slaves, oh how equal, which couldn t vote. The Sculpture Of The Etruscan- Roman Tradition In the early official and private portrait of the Etruscan Roman tradition, the achievement of sculpture from the identity of the ideal Republican demonstrated motivation behind the virtus, veristic, and gravitas qualities. The Etruscan Roman portrait sculpture of the Patrician Carrying Portrait Busts of Two Ancestors is a life size marble statue that was dated to the period of the Emperor Augustus somewhere at the end of the 1st century BCE or the beginning of the 1st century CE, reflecting the practices that have originated from the past by Polybius. This Etruscan Roman piece of art is detailed all around, but also ideal as depictions look influential throughout the generations from the living patrician man holding the lifeless portrait busts of the two very distinct ancestors. The surface of the marble used to carve the male figure, and the portrait heads is very smooth and pale in colour, as the natural agent simulates realistic complexion through the veins present within the marble creating a three dimensional illusion of meticulous naturalistic rendition of the human anatomy engraved with relief detail all around. The function of the portrait sculpture was to have a permanent documentation motivated by the realistic commemoration of one s ancestors in a religious and ritualistic funeral use of death masks, that would have been cast from the face of the deceased. This became an obvious style of presenting recognizable prestige that conveyed the significance of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sizwe Bansi demonstrates the imperative for the black person in South Africa to be an actor to present an enforcedly acceptable mask to his or her white masters (crow). Discuss the relationship between acting and identity in two plays on the course. Identity and acting are massive themes within both Sizwe Bansi Is Dead and Death And The Kings Horseman. In both plays, the black people are enforced by the whites to behave in a certain way. Also, In Death And The Kings Horseman, it shows that Elusin see s Pilkings as a white man who stole his first born son Olunde and rather than say educate him, he says so you could turn him into something of your own image (Soyinka 1998, 68). Which is an important statement to show the black feeling towards the white man and what they are doing to the black man. This statement shows that Elusin thinks that, the white man is not educating or showing the black man new things and culture, but they are turning them into an image. The word image is important as it could mean that they are turning into them into a copy or a non real version. As an image isn t the actual thing, this could be interpreted as that the white man is instilling a false identity on the black man, making them act in a certain way. It symbolises that Elusin who is a leader so he speaks for his followers, believes that the white culture being instilled on the black culture is not a real form of identity, so ultimately the blacks are also disregarding the whites as an actual identity. So it could be argued that here in what Elusin states shows an opinion much like the whites on the black identity and culture. Following the Battle of Antietam the Northern Army had the opportunity to defeat Lee s army. McClellan s procrastination in pursuing Lee and allowing General J.E.B. Stuarts daring cavalry raid into Pennsylvania around Gettysburg (10 12 October 1862). Lincoln felt that the destruction of Lee s army should be the primary goal, not the capture of a Southern city, however, he approved Burnside s plan. Once this was completed he set forth for Virginia with a compliment of 100,000 men. General Lee had at his disposal two army Corps, the First Corps was commanded by Lieutenant General James Longstreet and the Second Corps was commanded by Lieutenant General Thomas Jackson. Both of these corps comprised of 35,000 men for a total of 70,000 men. This water was provided through tube wells that were connected to an underground aquifer. Such actions were taken on the 1980 s, when many children died from diarrhea. This project facilitated the lives of many since their people did not have to walk long distances and carry heavy jars full of water. Unfortunately, the water was not checked for arsenic. A dermatologist believed the water from the tube wells contained arsenic but the British Geological Survey insisted it was safe. Today the tubewells are known to have 50 micrograms of arsenic per liter. The article also explains some of the symptoms that could be experienced after 10 years of consuming arsenic contaminated water, these include: black spots, conjunctivitis, bronchitis, diarrhea, etc. The Bangladesh government borrowed money but has not yet taken action since they do not know how to solve this issue. In order for learning programs to share and recycle content, the content needs to be able to interface with a variety of learning management systems as well as different computer operating systems. Nevertheless, as these systems were designed, developers can create learning content specific to each system. TBE degree programs still lack the level of credibility traditional degree programs. In general, they are concerned that TBE is more susceptible to cheating and poor quality than traditional face to face and classroom based learning. The only way for this to resolve itself is time because eventually it will find its way to the modern eye of everyone. Although rigorous wide scale research evaluating TBE s effectiveness by any of these criteria is thin, the available evidence points out that TBE generally seems to work at least as well as traditional approaches and is often more efficient in costs. Nonetheless, it also seems clear that, to realize its full potential, TBE should not forgo opportunities for human interaction either face to face or electronically. It should also provide opportunities for the active engagement of learners, provide content that is relevant and linked with what learners already know, and offer opportunities for feedback and support. Setting Analysis and Symbolism of Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte In Wuthering Heights, Emily Bronte uses the setting of the English Moors, a setting she is familiar with, to place two manors, Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange. The first symbolizes man s dark side while the latter symbolizes an artificial utopia. This 19th century setting allows the reader to see the destructive nature of love when one loves the wrong person. The manor Wuthering Heights is described as dark and demonic. Catherine, aware of her incestuous attraction to Heathcliff, believes the Grange is destroying her, and because of her disgust of the Grange and her sense of guilt, it does. • 18. Pros And Cons Of School Uniforms Should students wear school uniforms? This is a topic that has been thoroughly argued, yet to no prevail on either side. I believe school uniforms overall impact children and the education community negatively. There are many strong reasons to turn down this policy. These include how the uniforms effect the children and their learning, the sneakiness behind school administrations who utilize this system, and how the children feel about the uniforms. First, is how the uniforms affect the children in a negative way. I know a family just a few houses up the street whose kids go to a Catholic school. Religion set aside, they have to wear uniforms to school. Often I see them getting out of the car, ripping off their bows and ties with a sort of disgust. My friend from that family, Aaron, states on the topic, They are uncomfortable, which actually distracts me more from learning and paying attention. This shows how school uniforms affect the learning environment negatively and impact children in a negative way. Everyone has heard the phrase, if you get hurt it s your own fault. But what if you never get the chance to be hurt? You ll never learn. It s the same way with something as simple as clothing. If children wear vulgar clothing to school then you can talk to them and tell them it s wrong. It is bad preparation for the real world if we are telling children what to do, rather than letting them learn to better prepare themselves for the real world. Next, is the sneakiness behind the administration and their altered statistics. Long beach California is a town that incorporates school uniforms into their schooling. The district claims the academic success and low violence rates are due to the school uniforms. They did leave out the other improvements in their districts including, promotion of conflict resolution, peer mediation, and parental involvement. The superintendent of this district made a comment to the Harvard Education Letter stating, It is really hard to know exactly what is causing the positive effect. This shows how districts are hiding other information to promote how well uniforms fix problems when in reality, it could be many things. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) in Southern ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus arts organizations must act to align their needs with the evolving requirements of corporate benefactors if lasting partnerships are to be formed. Museums must position their brand to corporations as places of value, enhancement and richness to local communities. Corporations need to reevaluate museums as a pillar for support on par with any other social cause, with value for society at large. With better understanding of the overlap of objectives both corporations and arts organizations share, public museums can offer creative, outside the box thinking in seeking corporate support. Museum development professionals can better understand the value to not only maintain existing resources, but ways to seek new partners through innovative corporate engagement by aligning museum programming and values with the increasingly social and environmental causes corporations have come to identify. By observing trends in federal and corporate funding for the arts and funding shifts, this capstone will explore why corporations who currently support public art do so through funding and art collections, and their increasing needs for employee engagement. • 22. How Norman Castles Changed During The Middle Ages Introduction Castles first came to England in 1066 when William, Duke of Normandy, won the battle of Hastings. The Normans needed castles because they had taken control of England by force and were hated by many English people. The Normans had to protect themselves from English rebellions and they needed to keep power over and show strength to the English people. William made sure that castles were built all over England in major towns. The first castles were built very quickly and were very simple, but during the reign of William and throughout the rest of the Middle Ages (1066 1500) the design of castles changed. Better living conditions for the Norman barons with bedrooms, kitchens, a chapel and toilets (Garderobes). Square Keep castles had lots of strengths: They were a show of power against the English and really difficult to attack because of their thick stone walls and height. They also gave better living conditions. They did still have weaknesses though: They were expensive, took a long time to build, they could not be moved and they could still be attacked by enemies by: Setting really hot fires under the corners (weak points) until they collapsed. Using battering rams. Starving out the Normans by not letting food in. Tunneling and mining under the castle walls. Using archers and catapults to fire arrows and rocks over the castle walls. The corners were blind spots an attacker could hide behind corners. These problems led to a change of design towards the end of the 12th Century once Edward I became king. Under his reign the design of round stone castles and keeps began. The round castle keep meant that there was nowhere the enemy could not be seen and took away the weaknesses of having corners. Concentric Castles (1239 1400) Concentric castles were a castle within a castle idea and were built to be as difficult to attack as possible. A modern example where both Human security and rights have been impeded upon is in the context of the ongoing Syrian conflict. The Syrian governments violations of human rights impact upon the security of the Syrian people because being deprived of basic rights and freedoms places them at grave risk of violence and harsh punishment from the state. The conflict quickly escalated to a point where both sides have now been found guilty of committing war crimes such as torture and hostage taking. The extent to which human rights abuses have been occurring has alarmed the international community and has prompted condemnation from international organisations such as the UN and NATO. In spite of this condemnation however, little ground has actually been made in reducing human rights abuses in Syria and upholding the security of its people. What little action that has occurred includes Syria being convinced largely of the back of pressure from the US and Russia to adopt ratify the UN treat against chemical weapons which it did so in September 2013 The improvements made in Syria are minute though because rights breaches continue to occur in ways which hugely threaten human security. • 28. Acid Fracturing Treatment in an Iranian Carbonated Reservoir Acid fracturing is a sensitive stimulation technique that has been widely used by the oil industry but is limited to so many considerations. An acid fracturing treatment must produce a conductive flow channel long enough to alter the flow pattern in the reservoir from a radial pattern to one that approaches linear flow. This needs high rate of acid flow completed with formation solution in acid. Considering the above restrictions imposed by acid fracturing, its applicability is limited to special cases where no better solution is available especially in Iranian oil fields. In this paper, one of these special cases is studied occurred in a carbonate reservoir in Iran. This was the first successful acid fracturing operation in an Iranian reservoir which makes the condition so delicate and unique as there was so many uncertainties and lack of experience. As we know, hydraulic fracturing has been used worldwide in damaged formations and formations with low conductivity but performing acid fracturing has been limited to so many operational and reservoir restriction. The main difference between acid fracturing and proppant fracturing is the way fracture conductivity is created. In proppant fracturing, a propping agent is used to prop open the fracture after the treatment is completed. In acid fracturing, acid is used to etch channels in the rock that comprise the walls of the fracture. Thus, the rock has to be partially soluble in acid so that channels can be etched in the ... Airbags are designed to prevent injuries in the event of a collision. Depending on the vehicle, the airbag may be released from the dashboard, the steering wheel or the doors of the vehicle. Although these devices are exceptionally simple in design, they still feature some innovative pieces of technology. In order to be effective, the airbag must open faster than a car can crash. Basically, something that is heavier or faster will have more kinetic energy. If you crash into something, this means that a heavier car or faster speed will be throwing more force into the crash. Modern cars are made to crumple on impact and take some of this force, but vehicle design is not always enough. While your car structure is crumpling to take on the force of the crash, the people and items in the vehicle still have kinetic energy as well. This means that your car will lose energy and stop moving, but your body will still be flying through space. Seatbelts will stop your body from moving, but your head will keep moving forward. In severe accidents, this can cause your head to slam into the windshield or steering wheel. To prevent this from happening, airbags are used to slow down the momentum of your head. As your head hits the airbag, the nylon bag deflates so that your head does not end up bouncing back into the seat. Reductions in the US defense budget, sequestration and increased competition from other US based UAV platform providers such as Northrup Grumman and Boeing (Hoovers Company Profile, 2016) has slowed GAASI sales to US and European allies in recent years and caused layoff concerns (Shalal Esa, 2013). Expectations versus Reality in Stephen Crane s The Red Badge of Courage The notion that war is an exciting, romantic endeavor full of glory and heroism has existed for centuries. Stephen Crane set out to demystify war through his novel The Red Badge of Courage, which traces the experiences of a young soldier in the American Civil War. Crane shows the true nature of war by contrasting Henry Fleming s romantic expectations with the reality that he encounters. This contrast between romantic vision and cold reality can be seen early in the novel, with Henry s departure from home. Driven to a prolonged ecstasy of excitement by the rejoicing crowd, Henry enlists in the army and says good bye to his mother with a light of excitement ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The contrast is again evident in Henry s army experiences before going into battle. His treatment before leaving town only serves to increase his romantic expectations as his former classmates [throng] about him with wonder and admiration (710). Henry s regiment is then treated so well on its journey to Washington that he is led to believe that he must be a hero with the strength to do mighty deeds of arms (711). In keeping with his romantic beliefs, Henry imagines that his regiment will be involved in a series of death struggles with small time in between for sleep and meals (711). Yet again, Crane presents a more realistic view in Henry s actual experiences. Instead of automatically being a hero, as he had anticipated, Henry faces uncertainty and a little panic fear as to his own ability to withstand battle (712). Filled with self doubt, Henry dreams of a thousand tongued fear that [will] babble at his back and cause him to flee (718). In addition, Henry must put up with months of monotonous life in a camp, not the constant action he anticipated (711). Even when his regiment does move out, it moves from place to place with apparent aimlessness, leaving a frustrated Henry to feel that he is merely one part of a vast blue demonstration (722). It is in the scenes of battle and death, however, that the contrast between Henry s romantic expectations and his actual experiences ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Desire Under The Elms By Eugene O Neill Desire Under the Elms by Eugene O Neill is a modern twist on the mythological tale of Phaedra and Hippolytus. In writing this piece, in 1924, O Neill delivers a captivating and somewhat comical version of the classic myth. Stuck in the transition from the Modernism to Postmodernism movements, O Neill struggled to define himself as either a modernist or postmodernist. The Modernism movement is made up of a variety of different movements: philosophical, artistic, and literary. The artistic and literary Modernism movement, which occurred in the late 19th and early 20th century, is marked by the concepts of experimentation and individualism, signifying sudden breaks with traditional values of literature, philosophy, and culture. In comparison, postmodernism, which developed in the mid to late 20th century held the idea that reality is not based on societal understanding of it, but, on individual perception and interpretation. While both have similarities, the perceptions of individuality in these movements differ on a relatively large scale. In the Modernist movement, it was socially correct to adhere to what was specifically deemed acceptable. In contrast, in the postmodernist movement, one style of living was not any less acceptable than another because each person determined what is considered valuable to them individually. Though modernism and postmodernism are marked by distinctive ways of thinking and social norms, these periods actually faced quite an overlap. While ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We have coddled them all of their lives only to throw them out into the world where they don t understand how things work. In Don DeLillo s short story, Videotape a young girl recorded a man that was shot while driving in a car; the video was shown on the news repetitively. The short story revolves around a man at home attentively watching the video; he continuously called on his wife to watch the video with him. In the next instance, he is shot in the head. The unexpectedness is captured when DeLillo wrote, It demonstrates the elemental truth, that every breath you take has two possible endings (79). The statement is terrifying, yet completely eye opening; no one expected for that man to be killed. That quote proves how no one ever knows when their life will be taken away. Another quote that has the same effect is, There s something here that speaks to you directly, saying terrible things about forces beyond your control (DeLillo 77). It is a common thought that there is no control whatsoever on the matters of death. The forces that are spoken of in the sentence are open to interpretation. That man s life was controlled by everyone else except himself. When the viewer realizes that he is practically rubbing the tape in his wife s face, he admitted, ...this is the risk of existing (DeLillo 79). • 46. Reflection For My Citizenship Project Reflection For my citizenship project, I chose to volunteer at the Daniel Stowe Botanical garden. My goal was to obtain 15 hours of community service by volunteering for educational assistant, horticulture crew, and at the holiday at the garden events. To reach my goal, I had to figure out two major problems. When to volunteer and my transportation. In order to make my project possible, I had to work with my parents. By looking at an online calendar, we were able to schedule when I can volunteer and my event. We decided that I could volunteer in the morning during winter break, and my parents would drop and pick me up. Before my first day volunteering, i felt more nervous than excited. I was completely clueless and worried that I wouldn t be able to do my job properly. I was afraid that I might become loss, or that I might have signed up incorrectly. Most of all, I was afraid that I ll would embarrass myself. What made it vene more nerve wrecking was that I had no friends or family to volunteer with me, so I was hesitant with working with a stranger much older than me. Despite my worries, I was excited to see the garden. I wanted to compare the botanical garden in Las Vegas to the one I am currently volunteering at. I was especially enthusiastic about the arts and crafts I will be creating on my first day. I volunteered a total of __ days, each day brought a new experience and improved my communication skills. I started off volunteering at the fairy fest. It was a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
