Flemings And Walloons Research Paper
In the 1960s, the Flemings and Walloons gained control of their distinctive regions in the nation of
Belgium. The Walloons, who live in Belgium s southern provinces, culturally contrasts with the
Flemings, who inhabit the northern part of Belgium. Both the Fleming and Walloons are members
of the two dominant cultural groups of Belgium. Their given increased control over their particular
regions after the 1960s sparked a cultural development along separate boundaries. Although the
Walloons and the Flemish are similar in mannerism and athletics, they are different in custom
dialects. The country of Belgium consists of two major regions. To the southern provinces known
as Wallonia, are the French speaking inhabitants, the Walloons. The Flemings (Flemish), reside in
the northern part of Belgium, citizens identify as Flanders. The Flemish communicate in the
Flemish language, which is largely influenced from the Dutch language. The country created

compliments and repeated handshaking, ( Walloons ). Close friends and relatives are commonly
greeted with shaking hands and hugging. It is not unusual for a male and a female or two female
friends to exchange a kiss on the cheek. In addition to their social life, the athletics department

Examples Of Leadership In Remembering The Titans
In 1971, T.C. Williams High School football team, the Titans, broke racial barriers in Alexandria,
Virginia s schools and communities. Remembering the Titans is a classic true story in which
racism was the key issue of the movie. In the movie, black students were being integrated in T.C. s
all white school and the school district decided to bring in a new head coach, Herman Boonewho
was black. Therefore, the district demoted the high school football head coach and hall of famer
nominee, Bill Yoast, who was white. This demotion cause outraged in the school, within the football
team and the community. As the movie progressed, we see racism in uncertainty with one

Coach Bill Yoast had a servant leadership style. He was flexible, supportive of the team, confident,
committed and compassionate. He believed that putting emphasis on his player s needs and
personal interests would result in their success. He used his leadership techniques as the to help the
team members use their full potential individually and while working together as a team. Coach
Yoast leadership was one of empowerment and self management. Through the leadership of both
Coach Boone and Coach Yoast, they produced two other leaders Gerry Bertier and Julius
Campbell. Both athletes, Bertier and Campbell were team leaders. Despite the racial tension in the
being, after Gettysburg, they began to inspire their each other and their teammates to the next level.
They learned how to deal the challenges and changes that they have to face and taught others how
to develop a trusting and cooperative relationship. Both young men set aside their prejudice and
began to focus on the team. Their relationship leads to way for most of the team to come together

The Protagonists In Game Changers
The protagonists of Game Changers were Ben, Lily,Sam, and Coop. They were the protagonists
because they were the most positive and Lilly, Sam, and coop were all Ben s friends. The
antagonist was Shawn O Brien because he was a rival with Ben to start at QB. He was also very
negative every time he made a mistake instead of trying to get better. The other antagonists were all
of the football teams that played the Rams because they were going against the Rams, the team that
Ben played on. Coach O Brien was an antagonistat first, but then he started Ben at QB so he wasn
t putting Ben at WR anymore since he wanted to be QB so badly. The story took place sometime
in the 2000s. The whole story mainly took place on the football field. The rising

A Reflection at the Center for Inclusion and Campus Involvement: Social Justice Pre Practicum
Unlike my mental health pre practicum which was an off campus endeavor at Aspire Health
Partners, my social justice, and advocacy prepracticum took place on the campus of Rollins at
the Center for Inclusion and Campus Involvement (CICI). Working this semester for CICI was
an eye opening experience. For over four months, I was able to abide by CICI s mission
statement which consists of the following values; inclusion, courageous leadership, authenticity,
and social change. My endeavors were directed towards the LGBTQ community at Rollins, but I
was also able to work with incoming students with Title IX and Buzz to help the new students
understand how to be safe in campus. My professional and personal values remained congruent
with the social justice and social advocacy mission values of CICI, and afforded me the chance to
see the ethics of my mental health counseling program in action. Accordingly, my values stand as
self determination to encourage social justice and social change on behalf of my clients. It
behooves me to highlight how meaningful this value subsists for me since this was one of the
central purposes that inspired me to pursue a career in mental health counseling. As a gay man, I
realized that the LGBTQ community needs many advocates for their rights and for society s
acceptance, especially for the LGBTQ youth of today. Therefore, I recognized that counseling was

Examples Of Sociological Imagination
ISHA NAIR 17060321124
SOCIOLOGICAL IMAGINATION ESSAY Sociological imagination is the vivid awareness of
the relationship between personal experience and the wider society . It is also the relationship
between individual troubles and the large social forces that are the driving forces between them .
In this essay I will be talking about my individual observation and experience as an example of
sociological imagination. There is often a social stigma attached to the obese especially the obese
females in the society. It is a social problem that is seen worldwide. One of my best friends is one
of them. She has a very positive approach towards life and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

They failed to realize how much they were demeaning her. There was a lot of societal pressure
on her to loose weight as many of our neighbours would mock her for her appearance. At one
point she lost all her motivation and positivity. She used to think that she is a burden and that
there was some fault in her. It took a long time for me to convince her that she was perfect just
the way she was. There was a reason why she was gaining so much weight. She was diagnosed
with PCOS. Her parents were feeling very guilty as they never realized what their daughter was
going through. It is now after the diagnosis that people have started respecting her. It is very
disheartening to see such things happening in the 21st century modern world. People without a
sociological perspective often attribute obesity to junk food or leading a sedentary lifestyle.
They think from a narrow point of view. Whereas, people with a higher sociological perspective
/ imagination think broadly as to what could be the factors that led to a person being obese. It
could be some health issues or genetic factors. Sometimes even a lot of stress worry leads to
obesity. Just like how my friend went through there

Identifying Trauma and PTSD in Clients with Psychiatric...
Identifying PTSD in Clients with Psychotic Disorders
Trauma, a severely distressing or disturbing experience, can lead to Posttraumatic Stress Disorder
(PTSD), which is a type of anxiety disorder that results from experiencing extremely emotional
trauma or situation in which the individual felt at risk of injury or death. According to Putts (2014),
both trauma and PTSD are going unrecognized in clients experiencing psychotic disorders such as
schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depressive disorders although a majority of clients
diagnosed with psychotic disorders experience symptoms that meet the criteria for PTSD (p. 83).
Putts (2014) believes the phenomenon could be a result of the challenge a clients in a psychotic
state presents ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This shows the relationship between traumatic events, psychotic disorders, and the existence of
PTSD in those clients (Putts, 2014, p.83). The percentage of sexual and or physical abuse among
clients with more than 10 hospitalization and 11 psychotic episodes are even greater. According to
Putts (2014), 40% of those clients suffered sexual abuse and 60% suffered physical assault by a
relative (p.83). Putts expressed his concern with the clinicians lack of recognition of the relationship
between trauma and psychotic disorders, and how this contributes to the lack of diagnosis of PTSD
in this population (Putts, 2014, p.83).
Analyzing Clinicians Assessment skills
It is critical that clinicians be able to identify history of trauma in clients with psychotic disorders
(Putts, 2014, p.83). Researchers reviewed the clients charts and found that in clients with at least
one hospitalization related to psychiatric issues there was an 87.2% exposure to trauma identified
by the researchers versus a 28% exposure to trauma identified by clinicians (Putts, 2014, p.83). The
lack of recognition of exposure to trauma by clinicians has a significant impact in client s
experience during treatment because many of them lack the skills to bring up the topic for
discussion during counseling, and many other clients are not even aware of the relationship
between their traumatic experiences, and how those experiences have

The Importance Of The Internet On The Internet
I agree with net neutrality because the internet has became such an important impact on our
lives that its very very easy to imagine that it will always remain the free and open medium it is
now. For those whose don t know what net neutrality is , it basicially lets you watch all your videos
and allow you to get on the internet for free. Other people tend to agree with having not to pay for
all of our websites. While others , including me , who does agree with what may or may not
happen. Most people can t afford a simple bill for cable , so why would you want to pay for every
websitethat you go on, like Youube. We all love watching our free YouTube
videos, but imagine
having to pay for getting on the app or watching in via web. It would be a pain having to do all
the paper work just to pay for everything you watch. If the internet wasn t free than its really not
the internet if you really think about. The internet gives u so much information that everyone
should be allowed to see. If we were to pay for the internet , we wouldn t know as much as we do
right at this very moment. Every cell phone company and the internet would have control on what
you can watch and what you cant watch which is not right because we have the rights to do what
we want and we should be able to go on any website we want to. Net neutrality also affects
everyones freedom of speech which is unacceptable for the people who want to speak out about

Innovations In The Late 19th Century
1. Describe some of the events and scientific discoveries that shook the late nineteenth century s
confidence in the idea of progress. What effect did these events have on music, literature, and the
arts?
Despite the incredible advancements from the scientific world in the late nineteenth century, the
rapidly developing industry had its dark side. Telephones, automobiles, and airplanes were in their
early stages of development, and were all crashing into people s worlds at an a dangerously fast
pace. Contrary to the welcomed progress of such periods as the Enlightenment, the overwhelming
influx of new ideas was too much, and, as shown many times throughout history, the arts followed
the thoughts of the time. Although this time, it was not the celebration of progress, but a look into
the pessimistic side of it. Modernism. Feeling as though they could no longer put their faith in
anything, artists turned away from science, religion, and the reliability of the human mind. Painters
abandoned reality, writers shunned traditional structure, and musicians ignored logic. The faster the
innovations of the early twentieth shot up, the more its weak foundations crumbled, and the arts
left the structure completely.
2. Was early twentieth century musicresponsive to public opinion? Was emotional expression to an
audience important to early twentieth century composers? Explain.
As art continued to drift away from reality in the twentieth century, it inevitably become detached
from the ordinary public. Disregarding the conventional expectations of their audience, composers
became increasingly experimental. Although to some this was a breath of fresh air from the heavy
sentimentality of composers such as Tchaikovsky, many were driven away by the harsh separation
of music from feeling. Compared to the romantic sounds from the era of the same name, Modernist
music seemed cold and emotionless. One of the most influential composers of the time, Igor
Stravinsky, was an outspoken advocate for this detachment, or objectivity , as it was called, of
sentiment from music, and rejection of Romantic emotionality. Objectivity was the ideal, and this
more mathematical approach to music led to some interesting new sounds. Some

A Study On Drosophila Melanogaster
Abstract
Drosophila melanogaster was used for this study for their fast reproduction cycles, fast
regenerations, large amounts of offspring for each generation and their capability of living in a
small limited space. The dominant or recessive genotype could be determining by the used of
Mendelian genetic ratios for wild type to mutant s genes. The mutation that this study focuses on is
the defects of the phenotypes in the common fruit fly, example; wing shape, wing sizes, body color
and what the main focus of this experiment is dark eye pigment of the flies. These mutations were
followed for three generations, collectable data for wild type and mutants was obtained for each of

Gender isn t a key factor when it comes to determining a autosomal inheritance, Only sex linked
chromosomes like X or Y have an effect on the ratios for maleand females having mutant alleles.
This phenomenon is cause by the specific genome that each gender has, males have the XY
chromosomes for sex and females have XX sex chromosomes. The reason for using Drosophila
melanogaster flies is for their great genetics and fast reproduction that allows us to see in a short
period of time the Mendelian genetic ratios from one generation to the other. Among this reason
many others are in great importance as well, the common fruit fly has the same type of sex
chromosomes as of humans, as mention previously in the text male flies have the same XY sex
genes as male humans and same for female flies and female humans having XX sex genes. The fast
regeneration, short life span and large number of offspring makes this specific organism a prime
species to examine and study for better understanding of the Mendelian genetic ratios. Research was
done on Drosophila melanogaster for the genetic analysis of sex chromosomes, meiotic mutations
and their effect on recombination, disjunctions and their dominance (Baker and Carpenter, 1972).
The mutation that is specific

Since the initiation of the Third Wave of Democracy, several countries have attempted to form a
democratic system of governs. We take note that not all have succeeded. At the dawn of this era,
democracy was being applied to countries with no prior history of a governing body that was place
by the people for the people hence success of such a system could not be guaranteed because of the
innumerous variables that existed in each country. People being the highlighted factor of variance,
it may become easier to understand how countries such as Pakistan and Nigeria, both countries prior
to the Wave had no local governing machinery. Pakistan further endured a partition from India

The Spanish citizens were not always necessarily tormented by tyrants, whose political ideologies

was made in regional autonomy, indispensable for the development of a stable modern democracy
in Spain 1. Spain currently is a parliamentary representative democratic constitutional monarchy.
Its branch of powers is separated in to two, where the executive power lies with the government
and the legislative power is delegated to the Spanish parliament. Due to this structure it is very
arduous for political figures in states and governments to abuse their power. The executive
power in Spain is given to the Council of Minister s, which is led by the Spanish prime minister.
The Prime Minister is initially nominated by the king where after he is required to obtain the
vote of the lower house of parliament, and finally the king appoints the prime minister. Spain s

Brave New World Analysis
In Aldous Huxley s Brave New World, Bernard Marx discovers the vivid emotion of nature through
his visit to the Savage Reservation, America s last remnant of unadulterated wilderness and
humanity in a bleak, dystopian world. Writing critically on society, Huxley comments on the
degradation of morals, and the rise of a superfluous and perpetually distracted, albeit
technologically advanced, world, amid the dying influence of nature. Similarly, in his 2008 book,
Last Child in the Woods, Richard Louvexpresses concern over the widening divide between people
and nature, in particular children and nature. Citizens in Huxley s novel are infatuated with
dazzlingly visual entertainment machines, which provide transitory pleasure; likewise, Americans
today have forgone nature for equally trivial technological pursuits. Louv s sharp critique on the
bastardization of nature for short sighted whims, and his concern about the effects of isolating
children from nature, are achieved and expressed through exploring science s relationship to nature,
several subsequent illustrative examples, and ironic social commentary through these techniques,
Louv calls for action to preserve posterity s interest in and exposure to nature s romantic beauty.

Overview: Market segmentation can be done in various ways. Most companies choose to use not
just one but a combination of methods:
1.Demographic segmentation
Demographics is the study of the make up of the population. Demographic trends illustrate how the
population is changing. Factors that affect the make up of the population include the birth rate and
life expectancy. When demographic segmentation is used, consumers are grouped according to:
Age Gender Ethnic grouping
2.Socio economic segmentation
In this method of segmentation the population is divided according to socio economic grouping.
These groupings are based on occupation, not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

B-36 Essay
The first plane that I chose to use for my final exam is the Boeing B 52 bomber. The B 52 saw
action in the Cold War, Vietnam War, and the Gulf. This bomber began entering service in the
mid 1950s, and by 1959 had replaced the remarkable but obsolete B 36 as the backbone of
Strategic Air Command s (SAC) heavy bomber force. Its principal mission was nuclear deterrence
through retaliation. This plane was designed to go to very high altitudes but was later redesigned
for lower altitudes because of the surface to air missiles (Sams) that were a major threat. During its
service in the cold warthese bombers would fly around the borders of the soviet unionin case of a
nuclear war breakout. They also performed many airborne patrols under code names such as head

This stands for Surface To Air Missiles. They missles caused a major problem for B 52 bombers
that were initially intended to fly higher altitudes. They had to be redesigneded and would fly

The B 52 s electronic countermeasures help it protect itself against a full range of air defense threat
systems by using a combination of electronic detection, jamming and infrared countermeasures. The
B 52 can also detect and counter missiles engaging the aircraft from the rear. These systems are
undergoing continuous improvement in order to enable them to continue to counter emerging
threat systems. All B 52s can be equipped with two electro optical viewing sensors, a forward

safety, thus further improving its combat ability. B 52s are currently upgrading from the Litening

Realism and Romanticism within The Red Badge of Courage
Realism and Romanticism Within The Red Badge of Courage
The Red Badge of Courage, written by Stephan Crane in 1895 gives a detailed, yet, fictional
account of Henry Fleming, a farm boy who joins the Union Army in the American Civil War.
Before Henry is battle tested, he ponders his courage and questions whether he will be able to
fight the urge to flee from battle. Henry does indeed end up deserting his comrades however he
ultimately overcomes his guilt and becomes one of the best fighters in his regiment. In order to
depict a realistic and relatable war scene, Crane includes Henry s realistic thought process and
emotion in his struggles to maintain courage. The narrative simply revealed war in a manner that
was divergent to all prior forms of literature in the 19th century. Previous novels predominately
entailed the glorious and romantic aspects of war rather than the tedious, gritty, and gruesome
details of close combat. Instead, Crane broke the barriers of literary norms in war related
literature; the novel depicted a pragmatic experience of combat from the eyes of an inexperienced
and frightened youth. In the Red Badge of Courage, Stephan Crane primarily uses religious and
gory imagery as well as symbolism to contrast the romantic conceptions of war versus the reality of
experiencing battle.
One of the primary methods used to illustrate realism throughout The Red Badge of Courage would
be imagery. The entire book is essentially an outpouring of impressions and

Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome ( Ards )
According to the American Lung Association, Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is a
rapidly progressive disease occurring in critically ill patients. ARDS is an extreme manifestation of
a lung injury that can be associated with an acute medical problem. This occurs as a result of direct
or indirect trauma to the lungs. With nearly 200,000 cases in the United States each year, ARDS is
not extremely common ( Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome). Most people who acquire this
disease are critically ill patients within the hospital. The most common predisposing medical
problems of ARDS consist of: shock, trauma, pulmonary infections, sepsis, aspiration, and
cardiopulmonary bypass (Ignatavicious, 2013). ARDS is a severe syndrome and even with prompt
and aggressive medical treatment, almost fifty percent of those diagnosed do not survive. Those
who survive have a longer hospital stay along with recurring hospital admissions throughout their
lifetime ( Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome ). Acute respiratory distress syndrome is a rapidly
progressive disease which requires thorough assessment, rapid diagnosis, and emergency treatment
measures in order to successfully respond to the disease process.
ARDS is acute respiratory failure with persistent hypoxemia, decreased pulmonary compliance,
dyspnea, noncardiac associated pulmonary edema, and dense pulmonary infiltrates on the chest x

Hills Like White Elephants Analysis
A Life or Death Decision How difficult is it to make a decision that could potentially ruin one s
life? Ernest Hemingway s explores this question in his short story, Hills Like White Elephants. The
story is a concise conversation between an American man and a girl. The names of the characters as
well as their relationship status remain unknown. For the entirety of the short story, the characters
sit in a train station perturbed about making a decision on a potential operation of the girl. The
man and the girl go back and forth contesting what they should do about the operation. The story
ends on a cliffhanger, leaving the reader unaware of the girl s final resolution. In Hemingway s
short story, Hills Like White Elephants, his use of symbols, innuendos, and dialogue create a high
level of tension for the man and the girl which ultimately conveys the difficulty of the decision that
the couple must make together. Throughout the story, the man and the girl drink alcohol to deivert
them from dealing with their problems. Every time the couple gets closer to deciding what to do
about the operation, one of them suggests that they get another beer. In the story, the man says, I
don t want you to do anything that you don t want to do. The girl answers with Nor that isn t good
for me and the man replies Could we have another beer? (Hemingway 125). The alcohol is their
escape from reality. It calms them and helps them avoid the situation at hand. The alcohol may have

this record for several years, until Steve Wiebe. Billy Mitchell was furious when his score got beat
as no one could until, this guy (Steve Wiebe) that no one knew beat it. The directors showed
continuous amounts of how bad Billy is in the film. For example, one of the conventions used to
show this was music. Music showed that Billy was bad, by when the camera man was following
Billy the music that was played in the background was very dark and unhappy music. This music
was chosen purposely to portray that Billy is the bad guy. Another convention used was framing,
the directors videoed Billy while he was in the bathroom brushing his hair this displayed that he
was devious and cared about his appearance a lot. Once Steve had beat Billy, most of his family
members were interviewed. Many quotes were said such as Billy has a lot of things up his
sleeve, behind closed doors he s got something planned. These quotes tell us that his family
members have a lot of faith in him as they believe he could beat Steve, as he did. Although, he
cheated his way into winning which also showed the coward side of Billy Mitchell. Steve got
back onto his feet and beat Billy the right way. Graphics were also shown as Steve was beating

The telescope is an optical instrument designed to make distant objects appear nearer. It contains
an arrangement of lenses or mirrors or both that gathers visible light, permitting direct observation

Stafford takes the time to let the reader think and analyze the questions asked in the first seven
lines. In lines 9 and 10 he says that You and I can turn and look at the silent river and wait
(Stafford). But if you remember in the first line the river is ice so it s not only silent but calm, it
s not moving at all. The speaker in the poem chooses not to discuss whether/ what I have done is
my life until the river is ice (Anderson).I think that he uses the time of winter to wait for the river
to freeze so share his thoughts. For if the river is frozen it cannot pass on and judge his life. He
follows in lines 11 13 that the river is silent but there are still currents and movement hidden
under the ice. Stafford paraphrases these lines That river, and that world and our lives all share
the depth and stillness of much more significance then our talk, or intentions (Stafford). I believe
that he trying to tell (you) the reader that no matter what you do in life or who has something to
say about it the actions in which we choose to make have more significance than we may see. In
the last line Stafford says What the river says, that is what I say (Stafford). Stafford uses the ice as
a protective mask within the poem (Anderson), not allowing any final judgment to be passed.

Increasing the Proportion of Adults at a Healthy Weight
As the world is changing dramatically in terms of the technology that was available a couple of
decades ago, so are the health challenges and threats that we are facing. In the 1980s, the major
public health problems were related to the wide spread presence of infectious diseases. However,
in today s world, the focus has shifted from infectious diseases to chronic diseases. As we dig
deeper into understanding the etiology of the chronic diseases, we notice that obesity has an
association with a lot of them.
To reverse this trend, the Healthy People 2020 has set Increasing the Proportion of Adults at a
Healthy Weight as one of its objectives. Some of the factors that are believed to effect obesity and
overweight are physical activity status and eating healthy. Here, we will be looking at two studies
that have tried to understand people s beliefs and motivation to address this objective.
The first of the two studies was on the association of social support and Body Mass Index (BMI),
on African American women from rural Deep South, conducted by Johnson ER et al. The two
interventions that were looked up at in this study are healthy eating, and exercising. The second
study was about the perceived neighborhood attributes and BMI, among 12

The Persuasive Essay Of Banning Books
Books are the portal to a world where our minds can escape and be free from the limitations of
real life; when in the world of a book people can experience romance, adventure, and danger
without ever leaving their home. Never the less some people want to our ban books. These people
want to take away our books because they believe some books are inappropriate. Despite what
others might think books should not be banned. The reason for this is that banning books takes
away our first amendment rights, has allowed governments to control the masses, and could
possibly start a major war. The First Amendment in the Constitution of the United States of America

For example Nazi Germany not only banned books but went as far as to burn books. They did
this because every chance Hitler had to make the public think of Jews as not human he took it,
and by burning Jewish books Hitler was able to make the Jews look as if they were not human.
However Jewish books were not the only books burned. Pacifist literature was also burned;
which means that the Nazis did not want their citizens reading about peace and antiwar. This can
only mean that the Nazis wanted the German people to be pro war, and by having the Germans
in favor of war the Nazis could go to war with all of Germany behind them. However the Nazis
were not the first to use this horrendous tactic to control their citizens. The Roman Emperor
Hadrian forbid all Jewish writings, and even burned a man at the stake for teaching the Torah.
Emperor Hadrian did all this because he thought that the Jewish teachings would cause the public
to revolt, so Hadrian banned all Jewish writings. You can clearly see that by banning books
Governments have been able to control their citizens. This should be a warning sign that we need

The Epic of Beowulf
Beowulf is the oldest anglo saxon poem written in English. The poem describes the heroic deeds
of Beowulf in his fight against monsters. Even if the events narrated in the poem take place in
Denmark, the poem was transmitted by oral language between the anglo saxon even 200 years after
its creation. Anglo saxons did not consider themselves british, but vikings, and their heroes were
always from Scandinavia.
The author of Beowulf is anonymous. The original poem was written on sheep tanned leather.
Beowulf is not only the story of a young man that gains glory against monsters or of an old king
that dies fighting a dragon, but it is the story of a brave man who, once young and invincible,
chooses to fight against the dragon though he knows that he s going to have a tragic end.
Beowulf meets all the features of an epic poem: it is a long narration of a national hero ( he is
recognized, rewarded and glorified by the king himself and his people), his travel on the sea, his
adventures and the heroic episodes he s the central figure in. Moreover, the main protagonist,
Beowulf, is a brave young man, like Gilgamesh, Achilles or Hercules, with more than human
strength and wiser, more courageous than others. Unlike the other epic heroes we have studied
untill now, Beowulf is giving us a detailed self description when he meets the king : In my youth I
have done many glorious deed.
The episodes of the poem are moving ahead step by step; this literary procedure is called

Character Analysis Of Ralph
Who is Ralph? Written by William Golding, Ralph is the main character in the novel The Lord
of The Flies . Ralph is the leader of a group of boys when they are trapped on an island (without
any adult figure). He is the voice of showing order and civilization to the group. However, the
longer the boys stay, problems rises. What seemed like the correct decisions where lost; the
young boys were changing, considering and using savagery ways. Ralph shows the struggles to
keep the group together, while trying to keep himself together in the process. Ralph is given the
decision to stay a civil person or become a savageperson to survive from the other boys. By
showing the struggles of Ralph, Golding is able to express the consequences of becoming savage
and how it is not the answer.
Ralph expresses to be the realistic person. Throughout the novel, Ralph is able to see the wrong and
right of the group s actions. He tries to show order. When the others were goofing off, Ralph
knew certain things must get done to survive on the island. Shelters needed to be built, keeping
clean, was to show leadership and have a type of government. The conch is good example of
Ralph s doing, it allowed each boy to speak equally without chaos. His example helped coordinate
the group s survival rate very well in the beginning. As time went on, one of the boys, Jack, started
to break rules and acted barbarically. Jack even starts to build his own group. Ralph does not

totalitarianism in his writing. Many believe that Orwell wrote 1984 to warn and convince
leaders to avoid any paths that might lead to an overpowering society. Orwell was trying to warn
us about totalitarian power and how it could affect society in a negative way. Many of Orwells

disguises in the case The Double Murder at Dawn to try to find any suspicious man or women
that might look like he or she has been in a conflict instead; he finds the beginnings of the second
case The Strange Corpse. This is always a simple way to get information because if he appeared as
a magistrate, people will be unwilling to dispense the information needed. So if he dresses up like a

Judge Dee was considered the Father and Mother Official. Magistrates function as a judge, jury,
prosecutor, and detective. He was the highest power in his district and was in charge of many
things. He was in charge of the town, land administration, the tribunal, the bureau for the
collection of taxes, the register office, and the public order in the district. Magistrates had to
have great moral strength, intellectual power, and refined literati also trained on Chinese letter
and arts. Without any of these skills, the magistrate would have failed his job. He would have
barely gained any support since these skills were signs of a good leader. The Magistrates were
almost miniature monarchs of their own lands. Even though whatever they say is not law, they
are able to convict and torture people until they listen. Judge Dee took everything under his
control form the detective work to sentences. He used lieutenants and constables to help out, but
most work was done single handedly. No one else I the district has more power than him. A few
magistrates in the book even had their own private army for example; the magistrate in Turnip
Pass had a garrison to protect the area from criminals. Magistrates are supposed to be truth seeking
men. Judge Dee is obviously truth seeking because he tries to see why the husband died in The
Strange Corpse even though no one filed a complaint, he did this for righteousness, which is looked

Career As A Pharmacy Technician
Many years ago when I first decided to pursue a career as a Pharmacy Technician, I always
believed that I would be working in a retail pharmacy chain such as CVS or Duane Reade. As a
CVS customer, I would see the Pharmacist and Technicians working diligently behind the counter.
I told myself I want to do that, I wanted to help people take away their pain and begin the healing
process. My career started and I was typing and filling prescriptions for 8 hours with the occasional
break to help a customer find something within the store. I never considered working in a hospital
Pharmacybecause I never experienced what that was like first hand. After working a year at CVS,
I was eligible to take the PCTB exam to become a certified Pharmacy technician(CPhT). While
studying the material there was another side of Pharmacy that I never knew about. I learned
about hospital Pharmacy, it has the same day to day operation that retail does but more. Having a
degree in Chemistry from SUNY Stony Brook University, labs were a big part of my education.
The idea of a cleanroom and compounding medication excited me; the closest to compounding in
retail was reconstituting antibiotic medication for children. This involved measuring and mixing
water into a bottle. I left retail and searched for a job that would further advance my pharmacy
knowledge. I started working at NYULMC Pharmacy, here I was exposed to information
technology that was far more sophisticated compared to retail. As I

Continuity And Changes In Ancient Civilization
Many ancient civilizations have changed the way we live today. Sumerians invented the first
language, Hammurabi invented the first set of laws, Egyptians created pyramids, and so many
other ways that ancient people made the building blocks of the way our society lives today. It
amazes me how God gave us brains to figure out ways to make life so much easier!
In Mesopotamia, people had no money so they traded barley, pottery, fish, and other foods and
inventions they made. They needed a way to keep up with what they traded, so Sumerians created
the first form of writing over 5000 years ago which they called Cuneiform. They used Cuneiform
for business dealings such as trading barley, keeping records, and new ideas changed between
different generations.

Jungle Monkeys Essays
The monkeys of Rudyard Kipling s The Jungle Book are a very unique group of characters. They
are viewed by the other animals of the jungle, or the Jungle People as they call themselves, as
outcasts and outlaws. The most prominent chapter they occur in, Kaa s Hunting , shows their
lawless, shiftless, and uncivilized way of life. This image in itself does not give off any racist
undertone. However, Disney s adaption of The Jungle Bookcarries this view of the monkeys, while
also giving them strong attributes that are commonly associated with African Americans. In
Kipling s original version of The Jungle Book, the jungle monkeys make their first prominent
appearance in the chapter Kaa s Hunting . The young boy Mowgli speaks of the jungle... Show more

Disney s version of the book keeps the negative attitude towards the jungle monkeys presented in
the original story. However, it is in Disney s film adaptation that ties explicit attributes frequently
affiliated with African Americans to the Bandar Log. Like in the Kipling s original story, the
monkeys kidnap Mowgli and take him to their temple confines. One of the first differences
between the book and the movie is presented when Mowgli is introduced to the monkey leader
King Louie, whose voice acting is done by the jazz singer Louie Prima (The Jungle Book). As
previously mentioned, in the original story of The Jungle Book the monkey people are leader less.
The choice of Louis Prima as the voice actor for King Louie is a significant selection. Louis Prima
was a famous swing and jazz singer from New Orleans in the mid 20th century. Although Louie
Prima was Caucasian, the jazz and swing genre of music is predominantly considered an African
American art form. His musical style, which included a harsh, raspy voice and scat singing, was
greatly influenced by the famous African American jazz singer Louie Armstrong. Louie Prima
implements this musical style in King Louie s character as he even scats when he sings with
Baloo. King Louie also uses phrases usually found in African American Vernacular English, such
as I ll lay it on the line for ya, Cool it, and Craaaazy (The Jungle Book).

Presidential and Parliamentary Systems of Government Essay
Every country differs in their preference of political system to govern their countries. For
democratic countries, two possible choices of governing are the presidential system and the
parliamentary system. Since both the presidential and the parliamentary systems have their own
strengths and weaknesses, many scholars have examined these two forms of government, and
debate on which political system is more successful in governance. In this paper, I will first provide
a detailed analysis of both the parliamentary and the presidential system. I will also evaluate each
system s strengths and weaknesses, addressing any differences as well as any commonalities.
Finally, I will conclude by using historical examples to analyze and support the... Show more

Advocates of the parliamentary form of government suggested a few competitive strengths of this
system of government. Since it has gained a stable parliamentary majority, the government is able
to smoothly process its legislative project. In addition, the government is adequately furnished that
it could still choose to adopt measures designed to support the national interests while many
strong sectional groups oppose such measures (Dyck, 2012). The prime minister is the leader of
this type of government, who is obliged to be responsive to all its people s demands. Also, the
people have the right to vote and replace the prime minister due to any incompetency of governance
that does not address and fulfill their desires. This is known as the non confidence vote; the
government may be removed when it has lost confidence in the parliament, and cause the head of
state to resign a new government (Dyck, 2012). An example of such measure occurred in Britain
on March 28th, 1979. When James Callaghan s labour government was defeated in the House of
Commons just by one vote, it was forced into an early election that was won by the opposition
leader Margaret Thatcher (Dyck, 2012). In this case, it can avoid or at least reduce the period of
legislative gridlock, because of its flexibility in elections and the power is centered in the country s

Program Evaluation and Review Technique Article
PROGRAM EVALUATION AND REVIEW TECHNIQUE (PERT) Category: Planning
/ Monitoring Control ABSTRACT Program (Project) Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT)(G)
is a project management tool used to schedule, organize, and coordinate tasks within a project. It is
basically a method to analyze the tasks involved in completing a given project, especially the time
needed to complete each task, and to identify the minimum time needed to complete the total
project. PERT planning involves the following steps: пЃ® пЃ® пЃ® пЃ® пЃ® пЃ® Identify the
specific activities and milestones. Determine the proper sequence of the activities. Construct a
network diagram. Estimate the time required for each activity. Determine the critical path. Update
the PERT chart... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Determine the critical path. The critical path is determined by adding the times for the activities in
each sequence and determining the longest path in the project. The critical path determines the total
calendar time required for the project. If activities outside the critical path speed up oe slow down
(within limits), the total project time does not change. The amount of time that a non critical path
activity can be delayed without the project is referred to as a slack time. If the critical path is not
immediately obvious, it may be helpful to determine the following four quantities foe each activity:
ES Earliest Start time EF Earliest Finish time LS Latest Start time LF Latest Finish time These
times are calculated using the expected time for the relevant activities. The earliest start and finish
times of each activity are determined by working forward through the network and determining the
earliest time at which an activity can start and finish considering its predecessors activities. The
latest start and finish times are the latest times that an activity can start and finish without delaying
the project. LS and LF are found by working backward through the network. The difference in the
latest and earliest finish of each activity is that activity s slack. The critical path then is the path
through the network in which none of the activities have slack. The variance in the project
completion time can be calculated by

Electoral College Vote Vs Popular Vote
When it comes to voting for a president in an election, there are two factors that need to be
considered: the popular vote and the Electoral College. Many people believe that the Electoral
College provides absolute certainty of the outcome, but do the state electors actually provide a
voice for the people? There is no doubt the people are the ones who vote for the electors so the
desired vote could be made by them; however, the voters have no power over whom the electors
decide to vote for. In reality, the electors are the ones who choose who will be president, not the
people. Therefore, there should be a change to electionby popular vote for the President of the
United Statesso that everyone s vote begins to count.
To begin with, manipulation could take over within the Electoral College. In Source 2, it states
Back in 1960, segregationists in the Louisiana legislature nearly succeeded in replacing the
Democratic electors with new electors who would oppose John F. Kennedy. Also ...President
Nixon, who was presiding over the Senate, validated only his opponent s electors... when Hawaii
sent two slates to Congress in 1960. Both of these situations were manipulative ... Show more

In source 3, it reads, But each party selects a slate of electors trusted to vote for the party s
nominee (and that trust is rarely betrayed)... and it also says ...it is the electors who elect the
president, not the people. Based on this information, the electors are the ones who end up
deciding who their vote goes for regardless of whether the voters voted and the electors could
vote for a different candidate of another party and not be penalized. The fact that a candidate
running for president could win the popular vote of the citizens but still not be elected as president
because he/she did not get enough electoral votes is unbelievable. In the end, the voters don t get
what is desired, the electors

A Reflection at the Center for Inclusion and Campus Involvement: Social Justice Pre Practicum Unlike my mental health pre practicum which was an off campus endeavor at Aspire Health Partners, my social justice, and advocacy prepracticum took place on the campus of Rollins at the Center for Inclusion and Campus Involvement (CICI). Working this semester for CICI was an eye opening experience. For over four months, I was able to abide by CICI s mission statement which consists of the following values; inclusion, courageous leadership, authenticity, and social change. My endeavors were directed towards the LGBTQ community at Rollins, but I was also able to work with incoming students with Title IX and Buzz to help the new students understand how to be safe in campus. My professional and personal values remained congruent with the social justice and social advocacy mission values of CICI, and afforded me the chance to see the ethics of my mental health counseling program in action. Accordingly, my values stand as self determination to encourage social justice and social change on behalf of my clients. It behooves me to highlight how meaningful this value subsists for me since this was one of the central purposes that inspired me to pursue a career in mental health counseling. As a gay man, I realized that the LGBTQ community needs many advocates for their rights and for society s acceptance, especially for the LGBTQ youth of today. Therefore, I recognized that counseling was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Examples Of Sociological Imagination ISHA NAIR 17060321124 SOCIOLOGICAL IMAGINATION ESSAY Sociological imagination is the vivid awareness of the relationship between personal experience and the wider society . It is also the relationship between individual troubles and the large social forces that are the driving forces between them . In this essay I will be talking about my individual observation and experience as an example of sociological imagination. There was a reason why she was gaining so much weight. She was diagnosed with PCOS. Her parents were feeling very guilty as they never realized what their daughter was going through. It is now after the diagnosis that people have started respecting her. It is very disheartening to see such things happening in the 21st century modern world. People without a sociological perspective often attribute obesity to junk food or leading a sedentary lifestyle. They think from a narrow point of view. Whereas, people with a higher sociological perspective / imagination think broadly as to what could be the factors that led to a person being obese. It could be some health issues or genetic factors. Identifying PTSD in Clients with Psychotic Disorders Trauma, a severely distressing or disturbing experience, can lead to Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), which is a type of anxiety disorder that results from experiencing extremely emotional trauma or situation in which the individual felt at risk of injury or death. According to Putts (2014), both trauma and PTSD are going unrecognized in clients experiencing psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depressive disorders although a majority of clients diagnosed with psychotic disorders experience symptoms that meet the criteria for PTSD (p. 83). This shows the relationship between traumatic events, psychotic disorders, and the existence of PTSD in those clients (Putts, 2014, p.83). The percentage of sexual and or physical abuse among clients with more than 10 hospitalization and 11 psychotic episodes are even greater. According to Putts (2014), 40% of those clients suffered sexual abuse and 60% suffered physical assault by a relative (p.83). Putts expressed his concern with the clinicians lack of recognition of the relationship between trauma and psychotic disorders, and how this contributes to the lack of diagnosis of PTSD in this population (Putts, 2014, p.83). Analyzing Clinicians Assessment skills It is critical that clinicians be able to identify history of trauma in clients with psychotic disorders (Putts, 2014, p.83). Researchers reviewed the clients charts and found that in clients with at least one hospitalization related to psychiatric issues there was an 87.2% exposure to trauma identified by the researchers versus a 28% exposure to trauma identified by clinicians (Putts, 2014, p.83). The lack of recognition of exposure to trauma by clinicians has a significant impact in client s experience during treatment because many of them lack the skills to bring up the topic for discussion during counseling, and many other clients are not even aware of the relationship between their traumatic experiences, and how those experiences have ... The Importance Of The Internet On The Internet I agree with net neutrality because the internet has became such an important impact on our lives that its very very easy to imagine that it will always remain the free and open medium it is now. For those whose don t know what net neutrality is , it basicially lets you watch all your videos and allow you to get on the internet for free. Other people tend to agree with having not to pay for all of our websites. While others , including me , who does agree with what may or may not happen. Most people can t afford a simple bill for cable , so why would you want to pay for every websitethat you go on, like Youube. We all love watching our free YouTube videos, but imagine having to pay for getting on the app or watching in via web. It would be a pain having to do all the paper work just to pay for everything you watch. If the internet wasn t free than its really not the internet if you really think about. The internet gives u so much information that everyone should be allowed to see. If we were to pay for the internet , we wouldn t know as much as we do right at this very moment. Every cell phone company and the internet would have control on what you can watch and what you cant watch which is not right because we have the rights to do what we want and we should be able to go on any website we want to. • 14. Innovations In The Late 19th Century 1. Describe some of the events and scientific discoveries that shook the late nineteenth century s confidence in the idea of progress. What effect did these events have on music, literature, and the arts? Despite the incredible advancements from the scientific world in the late nineteenth century, the rapidly developing industry had its dark side. Telephones, automobiles, and airplanes were in their early stages of development, and were all crashing into people s worlds at an a dangerously fast pace. Contrary to the welcomed progress of such periods as the Enlightenment, the overwhelming influx of new ideas was too much, and, as shown many times throughout history, the arts followed the thoughts of the time. Although this time, it was not the celebration of progress, but a look into the pessimistic side of it. Modernism. Feeling as though they could no longer put their faith in anything, artists turned away from science, religion, and the reliability of the human mind. Painters abandoned reality, writers shunned traditional structure, and musicians ignored logic. The faster the innovations of the early twentieth shot up, the more its weak foundations crumbled, and the arts left the structure completely. 2. Was early twentieth century musicresponsive to public opinion? Was emotional expression to an audience important to early twentieth century composers? Explain. As art continued to drift away from reality in the twentieth century, it inevitably become detached from the ordinary public. Disregarding the conventional expectations of their audience, composers became increasingly experimental. Although to some this was a breath of fresh air from the heavy sentimentality of composers such as Tchaikovsky, many were driven away by the harsh separation of music from feeling. Compared to the romantic sounds from the era of the same name, Modernist music seemed cold and emotionless. One of the most influential composers of the time, Igor Stravinsky, was an outspoken advocate for this detachment, or objectivity , as it was called, of sentiment from music, and rejection of Romantic emotionality. Objectivity was the ideal, and this more mathematical approach to music led to some interesting new sounds. Some ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Study On Drosophila Melanogaster Abstract Drosophila melanogaster was used for this study for their fast reproduction cycles, fast regenerations, large amounts of offspring for each generation and their capability of living in a small limited space. The dominant or recessive genotype could be determining by the used of Mendelian genetic ratios for wild type to mutant s genes. The mutation that this study focuses on is the defects of the phenotypes in the common fruit fly, example; wing shape, wing sizes, body color and what the main focus of this experiment is dark eye pigment of the flies. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gender isn t a key factor when it comes to determining a autosomal inheritance, Only sex linked chromosomes like X or Y have an effect on the ratios for maleand females having mutant alleles. This phenomenon is cause by the specific genome that each gender has, males have the XY chromosomes for sex and females have XX sex chromosomes. The reason for using Drosophila melanogaster flies is for their great genetics and fast reproduction that allows us to see in a short period of time the Mendelian genetic ratios from one generation to the other. Among this reason many others are in great importance as well, the common fruit fly has the same type of sex chromosomes as of humans, as mention previously in the text male flies have the same XY sex genes as male humans and same for female flies and female humans having XX sex genes. The fast regeneration, short life span and large number of offspring makes this specific organism a prime species to examine and study for better understanding of the Mendelian genetic ratios. Research was done on Drosophila melanogaster for the genetic analysis of sex chromosomes, meiotic mutations and their effect on recombination, disjunctions and their dominance (Baker and Carpenter, 1972). Spain currently is a parliamentary representative democratic constitutional monarchy. Its branch of powers is separated in to two, where the executive power lies with the government and the legislative power is delegated to the Spanish parliament. Due to this structure it is very arduous for political figures in states and governments to abuse their power. The Prime Minister is initially nominated by the king where after he is required to obtain the vote of the lower house of parliament, and finally the king appoints the prime minister. • 22. Brave New World Analysis In Aldous Huxley s Brave New World, Bernard Marx discovers the vivid emotion of nature through his visit to the Savage Reservation, America s last remnant of unadulterated wilderness and humanity in a bleak, dystopian world. Writing critically on society, Huxley comments on the degradation of morals, and the rise of a superfluous and perpetually distracted, albeit technologically advanced, world, amid the dying influence of nature. Similarly, in his 2008 book, Last Child in the Woods, Richard Louvexpresses concern over the widening divide between people and nature, in particular children and nature. Citizens in Huxley s novel are infatuated with dazzlingly visual entertainment machines, which provide transitory pleasure; likewise, Americans today have forgone nature for equally trivial technological pursuits. Louv s sharp critique on the bastardization of nature for short sighted whims, and his concern about the effects of isolating children from nature, are achieved and expressed through exploring science s relationship to nature, several subsequent illustrative examples, and ironic social commentary through these techniques, Louv calls for action to preserve posterity s interest in and exposure to nature s romantic beauty. Louv s reportage on the State University of New York s scientific achievement and inclusion of commentary by Richtel jointly reveal society s enthusiasm about synthetic nature, and thus by extension the perceived unimportance of true nature. ... • 27. Realism and Romanticism within The Red Badge of Courage Realism and Romanticism Within The Red Badge of Courage The Red Badge of Courage, written by Stephan Crane in 1895 gives a detailed, yet, fictional account of Henry Fleming, a farm boy who joins the Union Army in the American Civil War. Before Henry is battle tested, he ponders his courage and questions whether he will be able to fight the urge to flee from battle. Henry does indeed end up deserting his comrades however he ultimately overcomes his guilt and becomes one of the best fighters in his regiment. In order to depict a realistic and relatable war scene, Crane includes Henry s realistic thought process and emotion in his struggles to maintain courage. The narrative simply revealed war in a manner that was divergent to all prior forms of literature in the 19th century. Previous novels predominately entailed the glorious and romantic aspects of war rather than the tedious, gritty, and gruesome details of close combat. Instead, Crane broke the barriers of literary norms in war related literature; the novel depicted a pragmatic experience of combat from the eyes of an inexperienced and frightened youth. In the Red Badge of Courage, Stephan Crane primarily uses religious and gory imagery as well as symbolism to contrast the romantic conceptions of war versus the reality of experiencing battle. One of the primary methods used to illustrate realism throughout The Red Badge of Courage would be imagery. The entire book is essentially an outpouring of impressions and ... For example, one of the conventions used to show this was music. Music showed that Billy was bad, by when the camera man was following Billy the music that was played in the background was very dark and unhappy music. This music was chosen purposely to portray that Billy is the bad guy. Another convention used was framing, the directors videoed Billy while he was in the bathroom brushing his hair this displayed that he was devious and cared about his appearance a lot. Once Steve had beat Billy, most of his family members were interviewed. Many quotes were said such as Billy has a lot of things up his sleeve, behind closed doors he s got something planned. These quotes tell us that his family members have a lot of faith in him as they believe he could beat Steve, as he did. The reason for this is that banning books takes away our first amendment rights, has allowed governments to control the masses, and could possibly start a major war. The First Amendment in the Constitution of the United States of America sates that we have the right to freedom of speechand to freedom of press; which in simpler... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example Nazi Germany not only banned books but went as far as to burn books. They did this because every chance Hitler had to make the public think of Jews as not human he took it, and by burning Jewish books Hitler was able to make the Jews look as if they were not human. However Jewish books were not the only books burned. Pacifist literature was also burned; which means that the Nazis did not want their citizens reading about peace and antiwar. This can only mean that the Nazis wanted the German people to be pro war, and by having the Germans in favor of war the Nazis could go to war with all of Germany behind them. However the Nazis were not the first to use this horrendous tactic to control their citizens. The Roman Emperor Hadrian forbid all Jewish writings, and even burned a man at the stake for teaching the Torah. Emperor Hadrian did all this because he thought that the Jewish teachings would cause the public to revolt, so Hadrian banned all Jewish writings. You can clearly see that by banning books Governments have been able to control their citizens. This should be a warning sign that we need to keep books from being banned because once a book is banned we never know what could happen ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. The Epic of Beowulf Beowulf is the oldest anglo saxon poem written in English. The poem describes the heroic deeds of Beowulf in his fight against monsters. Even if the events narrated in the poem take place in Denmark, the poem was transmitted by oral language between the anglo saxon even 200 years after its creation. Anglo saxons did not consider themselves british, but vikings, and their heroes were always from Scandinavia. The author of Beowulf is anonymous. The original poem was written on sheep tanned leather. Beowulf is not only the story of a young man that gains glory against monsters or of an old king that dies fighting a dragon, but it is the story of a brave man who, once young and invincible, chooses to fight against the dragon though he knows that he s going to have a tragic end. Beowulf meets all the features of an epic poem: it is a long narration of a national hero ( he is recognized, rewarded and glorified by the king himself and his people), his travel on the sea, his adventures and the heroic episodes he s the central figure in. Moreover, the main protagonist, Beowulf, is a brave young man, like Gilgamesh, Achilles or Hercules, with more than human strength and wiser, more courageous than others. Unlike the other epic heroes we have studied untill now, Beowulf is giving us a detailed self description when he meets the king : In my youth I have done many glorious deed. Throughout the novel, we see George Orwell s views and concerns about a controlled society. Orwell is constantly criticizing nationalism, capitalism, political dishonesty, and of course, totalitarianism in his writing. Many believe that Orwell wrote 1984 to warn and convince leaders to avoid any paths that might lead to an overpowering society. Orwell was trying to warn us about totalitarian power and how it could affect society in a negative way. Many of Orwells past experiences are reflected in his books such as 1984. Magistrates had to have great moral strength, intellectual power, and refined literati also trained on Chinese letter and arts. Without any of these skills, the magistrate would have failed his job. He would have barely gained any support since these skills were signs of a good leader. The Magistrates were almost miniature monarchs of their own lands. He used lieutenants and constables to help out, but most work was done single handedly. No one else I the district has more power than him. A few magistrates in the book even had their own private army for example; the magistrate in Turnip Pass had a garrison to protect the area from criminals. • 50. Career As A Pharmacy Technician Many years ago when I first decided to pursue a career as a Pharmacy Technician, I always believed that I would be working in a retail pharmacy chain such as CVS or Duane Reade. As a CVS customer, I would see the Pharmacist and Technicians working diligently behind the counter. I told myself I want to do that, I wanted to help people take away their pain and begin the healing process. My career started and I was typing and filling prescriptions for 8 hours with the occasional break to help a customer find something within the store. I never considered working in a hospital Pharmacybecause I never experienced what that was like first hand. After working a year at CVS, I was eligible to take the PCTB exam to become a certified Pharmacy technician(CPhT). While studying the material there was another side of Pharmacy that I never knew about. I learned about hospital Pharmacy, it has the same day to day operation that retail does but more. Having a degree in Chemistry from SUNY Stony Brook University, labs were a big part of my education. The idea of a cleanroom and compounding medication excited me; the closest to compounding in retail was reconstituting antibiotic medication for children. This involved measuring and mixing water into a bottle. I left retail and searched for a job that would further advance my pharmacy knowledge. I started working at NYULMC Pharmacy, here I was exposed to information technology that was far more sophisticated compared to retail. As I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sumerians invented the first language, Hammurabi invented the first set of laws, Egyptians created pyramids, and so many other ways that ancient people made the building blocks of the way our society lives today. It amazes me how God gave us brains to figure out ways to make life so much easier! In Mesopotamia, people had no money so they traded barley, pottery, fish, and other foods and inventions they made. They needed a way to keep up with what they traded, so Sumerians created the first form of writing over 5000 years ago which they called Cuneiform. They used Cuneiform for business dealings such as trading barley, keeping records, and new ideas changed between different generations. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. Jungle Monkeys Essays The monkeys of Rudyard Kipling s The Jungle Book are a very unique group of characters. They are viewed by the other animals of the jungle, or the Jungle People as they call themselves, as outcasts and outlaws. The most prominent chapter they occur in, Kaa s Hunting , shows their lawless, shiftless, and uncivilized way of life. This image in itself does not give off any racist undertone. However, Disney s adaption of The Jungle Bookcarries this view of the monkeys, while also giving them strong attributes that are commonly associated with African Americans. However, it is in Disney s film adaptation that ties explicit attributes frequently affiliated with African Americans to the Bandar Log. Like in the Kipling s original story, the monkeys kidnap Mowgli and take him to their temple confines. One of the first differences between the book and the movie is presented when Mowgli is introduced to the monkey leader King Louie, whose voice acting is done by the jazz singer Louie Prima (The Jungle Book). As previously mentioned, in the original story of The Jungle Book the monkey people are leader less. The choice of Louis Prima as the voice actor for King Louie is a significant selection. Louis Prima was a famous swing and jazz singer from New Orleans in the mid 20th century. Although Louie Prima was Caucasian, the jazz and swing genre of music is predominantly considered an African American art form. His musical style, which included a harsh, raspy voice and scat singing, was greatly influenced by the famous African American jazz singer Louie Armstrong. Louie Prima implements this musical style in King Louie s character as he even scats when he sings with Baloo. King Louie also uses phrases usually found in African American Vernacular English, such as I ll lay it on the line for ya, Cool it, and Craaaazy (The Jungle Book). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Advocates of the parliamentary form of government suggested a few competitive strengths of this system of government. Since it has gained a stable parliamentary majority, the government is able to smoothly process its legislative project. In addition, the government is adequately furnished that it could still choose to adopt measures designed to support the national interests while many strong sectional groups oppose such measures (Dyck, 2012). The prime minister is the leader of this type of government, who is obliged to be responsive to all its people s demands. Also, the people have the right to vote and replace the prime minister due to any incompetency of governance that does not address and fulfill their desires. This is known as the non confidence vote; the government may be removed when it has lost confidence in the parliament, and cause the head of state to resign a new government (Dyck, 2012). An example of such measure occurred in Britain on March 28th, 1979. When James Callaghan s labour government was defeated in the House of Commons just by one vote, it was forced into an early election that was won by the opposition leader Margaret Thatcher (Dyck, 2012). The critical path is determined by adding the times for the activities in each sequence and determining the longest path in the project. The critical path determines the total calendar time required for the project. If activities outside the critical path speed up oe slow down (within limits), the total project time does not change. The amount of time that a non critical path activity can be delayed without the project is referred to as a slack time. If the critical path is not immediately obvious, it may be helpful to determine the following four quantities foe each activity: ES Earliest Start time EF Earliest Finish time LS Latest Start time LF Latest Finish time These times are calculated using the expected time for the relevant activities. The earliest start and finish times of each activity are determined by working forward through the network and determining the earliest time at which an activity can start and finish considering its predecessors activities. The latest start and finish times are the latest times that an activity can start and finish without delaying the project. LS and LF are found by working backward through the network. The difference in the latest and earliest finish of each activity is that activity s slack. The critical path then is the path through the network in which none of the activities have slack. Many people believe that the Electoral College provides absolute certainty of the outcome, but do the state electors actually provide a voice for the people? There is no doubt the people are the ones who vote for the electors so the desired vote could be made by them; however, the voters have no power over whom the electors decide to vote for. In reality, the electors are the ones who choose who will be president, not the people. Therefore, there should be a change to electionby popular vote for the President of the United Statesso that everyone s vote begins to count.
