Why Do Motorcycle Saddlebags
There are few motorcycle accessories that are more important than your motorcycle saddlebags, and it
s important that you give them proper care to make them last. Remember, your saddlebags will be
holding some of your most important stuff, and since they are usually out of sight, out of mind, it is
easy to forget about them when it comes time to care for your bike.
Remember the days before you had motorcycle saddlebags? I sure do. I used to wear a backpack
which, when loaded, would offset the balance and sometimes make for a scary ride. If I ever rode
through wet weather, my gear in the backpack would almost always get soaked. Trust me when I tell
you that it s almost impossible to dry out a down sleeping bag by campfire on a cool spring evening!

Any more often than this and you are wasting your time, and the cleaning product. If you ride in the
sun, or your bike spends time parked out in the sun, a cleaner/conditioner with UV (ultraviolet)
protection is a must. The sun will wreak havoc on your leather saddlebags, drying them out and will
turn them into brittle and useless scraps of leather.
When using the cleaning/conditioning product for the first time, wipe it on a small area on the
underside, and look for any staining or discoloration before cleaning the whole bag. Some leather
experts say to stay away from products containing petroleum products. My rule of thumb is to use
something that others have had great success with regardless of the ingredients.
I try to look for leather products that penetrate deeply and offer good moisture protection. One great
old standby is saddle soap. Saddle soap is as old as leather (it seems), is cheap and is very gentle on
the leather. Some say it s old fashioned, and compared to modern conditioning products, doesn t offer
enough protection from the elements.
Sometimes these cleaning/conditioning products will have strong chemicals that will give off nasty
fumes.Try to use them outdoors so you don t inhale these

Comparing Terminator Two And Wachowski s The Matrix
Science fiction films constantly question technology s role in our lives. Films such as James Cameron
s Terminator 2 (1991), George Lucas s THX 1138 (1971) and the Wachowski s, The Matrix (1999),
discuss the anxieties and dangers associated with technology. THX 1138 alerts the audience of the
control technology has over the people who use it. The Matrix critiques how susceptible people are to
believe in the visuals of cinema and reject through reality. Terminator 2 focuses on the unreliably of
technology and alerts us of our need to stop relying to machinery and technological development.
Each of these directors portrays the dangers of technology though their own individual use of
cinematic expression. The entire premise of Terminator 2 is to go back in time in order to enlighten
those in the past about the dangerous outcome technology will have on their future. People are
unaware of the consequences of using and developing technology. This irresponsible ... Show more

The Matrix used some of the most high tech technology and editing to do so. Morpheus s ship is
completely wretched and the computers they use are run down. Including unattractive technology in
the composition of the film makes that same technology unappealing to the viewer. The directors
created The Matrix in order to represent the illusions our screens depict. There is editing that slows
down or speeds up the action scenes, like when Neo dodged the multiple bullets, in order to express
the bending of reality. Another example of the cinematic bending of reality is when the helicopter hits
a building and we see the glass walls ripple out. Bending lines represent the distortion of reality in the
film. Technology distorts our perception and confuses us as to the difference of cinematic magic and
the reality of

Essay on Alphonse Scarface Capone
Alphonse amp;#8220;Scarface ; Capone
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Alphonse Capone was born on January 17, 1899. He grew up in rough neighborhood in Brooklyn, NY
where he would attend school only up to the sixth grade, when dropped out. Capone got his nickname
amp;#8220;Scarface ; from a knife attack by the brother of a woman whom Capone had insulted. The
attack left him with three scars across his face and a new nickname.
Capone joined his first gang when he became part of the James Street Gang, headed by the well
known Johnny Torrio. In 1920, upon the request of Torrio, Capone went to work for Johnny

Capone was able time and time again to avoid criminal charges, and became a true racketeer, an art of
its own. Ironically, the government finally was able to put Scarface behind bars on charges of federal
income tax evasion. He was sentenced to eleven years in prison. Eleven years that couldn amp;#8217;t
even be saved by the four million dollar bribe offered by Capone amp;#8217;s attorneys.
In 1934 Capone was transferred to Alcatraz, and in 1939 he was paroled. Suffering from syphilis that
had begun to drive him insane, Capone knew he could no longer run his Chicago empire, so he retired
to his Miami Beach mansion. The exact place where on January 25, 1947 Alphonse
amp;#8220;Scarface ; Capone died.
IMPORTANCE IN THE TWENTIES
In 1920 when prohibition became law, a large portion of the population still wanted alcohol. But not
many were willing to put themselves at risk to sell it to others. Some did take advantage of
prohibition, but none more than Al Capone. With the rise of the telephone, the increase of
automobiles, the invention of the Thompson machine guns Capone was able to create an illegal
empire like no other.
When in came to bootlegging during the time of prohibition, Capone knew how to get to people, and
how to make a huge profit out of it. Another thing Capone was good at was avoiding the law. Whether
he blackmailed someone or he talked his way out of it, he

San Diego Beaches In Florida
San Diego is a city in California that has about 17 miles of coastline, which offers a variety of beaches
( San Diego Beaches ). Pacific Ocean is the ocean that borders coast in California. Three major rock
formations can be found in the North County beaches in San Diego, which are Bay Point Formation,
the Torrey Sandstone, and Del Mar Formation. Bay Point Formation is about 100,000 years old, which
is also the youngest rock formation, and it has a higher possibility for erosion to occur (Metzler). The
Torrey Sandstone is about 46 million years old, it has a lighter color than Bay Point Formation, and it
is hard enough to provide protection for the softer Bay Point Formation (Metzler). Del Mar Formation
is slightly older than the Torrey Sand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main reason for the difference is that the two places are at different sides , one in the east, the
other in the west, and because of this difference, the weather at these places can also have a big effect
on the beaches. Erosion is a process that occurs at both the beaches in San Diego and Northeast
Florida. The only difference between the two is that in San Diego, the erosion occurs on the bluffs,
while in Florida, it occurs on the dunes. Both the natural and human activities cause erosion to occur
at both places. The activities include the weather, such as the storms can wash away the sand, which
will eventually cause erosion to occur, and human building structures near the shorelines can allow
erosion to happen. Although erosion is still occurring at the shorelines, people have tried to do some
activities that can help reduce or slow the bluff and dunes erosion at both places. In San Diego, people
have built sea walls and placed riprap along the shorelines to help prevent erosion. Sea walls are
usually made up of boulders, steels, and concrete and they are more expensive to build than the riprap
(Metzler). Riprap is placed on the sand along to the shorelines of the beach, it is usually made up of
rocks, and it is less expensive than building sea walls (Metzler). The purpose of both the sea walls and
riprap is to help protect the bluffs

Questions on Crime
Crime Analysis 1. When reviewing these incident summaries, what type of analysis are you
performing, tactical, strategic, or administrative, and why? From the information provided, it would
seem necessary that tactical and strategic analysis would be required in order to determine the course
of events and the ways in which the investigation should be performed. By utilizing the psychological
techniques which are accessible to the police department, it is quite possible to analyze the past events
and determine what may or may not continue to occur in the future until the individuals responsible
for the crimes are apprehended. 2. Is this a crime series? Why, or why not? It would seem that this
may be a crime series, because there are characteristics in the three crimes which overlap. However,
there are also instances in each case which differ from one another and thus the case should be
investigated as a potential series but the analysts should not overlook the possibility that these are
unrelated, coincidental crimes. 3. Were there any clues that may help establish the identity of either of
the suspects? There are some clues which could help identify the suspects in the case. Specifically,
there were the masks, the clothing, and most importantly the tattoo which was observed in the third
robbery of the man with a tattoo of a bleeding spider on his skin, which was ascertained to be white,
making the man most likely Caucasian. 4. What elements of the modus operandi

Comparing Pilgrim And The Puritan Settlers
The Pilgrim and the Puritan settlers was both diverged from the English Reformation. The Origination
and beliefs of both is similar and different in many ways. The Explanation the origination and beliefs
of Puritans and the Pilgrims gives a better understanding their differences. There was difficulty for the
Protestants to establish themselves in the sixteenth century. King Henry VIII was considered the
monarch, who introduced Protestantism to England, though he was committed to Catholics in the
beginning of the English Reformation (L.Stokes). King Henry VII never rejected the Catholic Church,
but he did cause a difficulty to the Catholic community, by replacing the pope as head of the Catholic
Church in England. King Henry VII the decision, caused somewhat of a treason reaction for those that
practice Catholicism. King Henry VIII and Queen Mary I (his sister) did not see eye to eye about

Although the WWE product as a whole is immensely popular, it does not go without fault. While other
professional sports have succeeded in showcasing all genders and races in a positive light, the same
can not always be said about WWE. What separates the WWE from other professional sports in a

Drug Trafficking Persuasive Speech
A 16 year old boy named Jimmy went to a party for one of his fellow classmates party. Little did he
know what was gonna be at the party. He showed up and had been having a good time until he got
asked if he wanted to smoke. Luckily he declined it and left the party after that happened. He was
appalled that somebody in his grade and so young be doing those things and how in the world could
they even get them. Well that is from drug trafficking. Drug trafficking is a illicit trade involving the
cultivation, manufacture, distribution and sale of substances which are subject to drug prohibition.
Drugs are brought into the U.S. every day, so much that it s become almost effortless to get drugs.
Drugs are a major and growing problem in the U.S.. According to the Center for Disease Control and

only true love, is taken. Gatsby is not afraid to do anything to make sure that his true love will fall into
his arms instead of another man s. The song Mr. Steal Your Girl by Trey Songz is an ideal choice for a
theme song to The Great Gatsby due to how they both have to do with wanting a taken girl and how
they are driven and passionate about how they feel, both have the opportunity to give the girl what she

Cultural Changes From The 1960 S
Conrad Phillip Kottak has visited the small village of Arembepe numerous times over the years. His
visits were frequent, but spaced out over a couple years, which caused him to begin to notice some
very dramatic changes from the Arembepe he came to know. The development of a more stratified
society caused for some major changes coming to the small community. This essay is going to address
the major cultural changes from the 1960 s to the 1980 s and whether or not the suburbanization of
this village community was good or bad.
Arembepe in the 1960 s consisted of only 159 households (730 people), which made up the small
village community. Malnutrition, poor public health, and high infant mortality struck the village
during this time. Traveling to and from Arembepe proved difficult because it lacked paved roads.
Hardly any people ever visited the village, which is why Kottak often referred to it as being isolated
from the rest of the world. Having no electricity in the village also proved a real struggle for
communication to the outside world. 74% of men in Arembepe worked as fishermen and 11% worked
in business (Kottak 50). In order to make a good living, it was very common for men to have more
than one job. Women would cook, clean, make items for fishing, and help run stores. Overall,
Arembepe in the 1960 s was not a stratified society, but that was soon going to change.
All Arembepeiros were baptized as Catholics, so prior to the 1980 s, Arembepe was mostly ritual free.

2012 NFL Team Analysis
We are officially through two weeks of the 2016 NFL regular season and we are beginning to find out
which teams are good and not so good. As we head into Week 3, this is a pivotal time for some teams,
who are still winless on the season. Majority of these teams have played well one week and looked
bad the next, while others have lost by less than a less than a touchdown.
With that being, here are five teams that can t afford to lose in Week 3:
1. Buffalo Bills: The Bills begin this list as they are in trouble. Currently, they are 0 2 after going
down to their division rival New York Jets 37 31. Unlike, the first week of the season, the Bills offense

4. Indianapolis Colts: The Colts are not a very good football team this season and it s showing on both
sides of the ball. The defense is hurting and giving up a ridiculous 36.5 points per game, which frankly
will not win you any games in the NFL.
While on offense, quarterback Andrew Luck is doing everything in his power to will the team to
victory with a lack of a running game. Then to make matters worse, Indianapolis lost wide receiver
Donte Moncrief for 4 6 weeks with a fractured scapula.
With all those factors, it is not looking good for Indianapolis. However, they have a favorable matchup
this week against the San Diego Chargers. The Chargers are coming off a big win against the
Jacksonville Jaguars but lost running back Danny Woodhead to a torn ACL. With no Woodhead or
Keenan Allen, the Colts defense should not have any trouble in slowly down a Chargers offense that is
averaging 32.5 points per game.

Coming of Age in Mississippi- Anne Moody
Anne Moody learned about the importance of race early in her life. Having been born and raised in an
impoverished black family from the South, she experienced first hand the disparity in the lives of
Whites and Blacks.
The story begins with Anne as a four year old child watching her parents work everyday for Mr.
Carter, a white plantation owner. She witnessed several black farmers living in rotten, two room
wooden shacks. It was most likely evident to her, even at that early age, that Whites were the affluent,
upper class.
She elucidates her recognition of the difference in living conditions in the following statements:
It seemed as though we were always moving. Every time it was a house on some white man s place
and every ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One explanation for her mother s reaction is her hesitancy to engage in discussions about race.
Throughout the text Moody s mother seems to accept her place as an inferior without questioning the
superiority of whites and the issues that racial inequities engender. Her mother s reluctance to
challenge the status quo contributes to Moody s evolving understanding of impact of the racism.
As Anne begins to mature she comes to the stark realization that the existing racial divide is not
simply a difference based on economic disparity but a true statement of inferiority versus superiority.
One experience that manifested this was a visit to a movie theater with some white friends. Moody
was not allowed to sit with the group; she was forced to sit instead in the Jim Crowe section.
Later in the text Moody received her first job working for a white woman earning two nickels a week.
Her employer also gave her milk, the sour milk that the cats drank from. This insincere gesture of
kindness continued to show Moody that she was not respected as a human being, but regarded with no
higher priority than that of an animal.
In addition to some of the more negative encounters resulting from differences in race explained
above, Moody had positive experiences that informed her understanding of the lives of Whites
compared to the lives of Blacks.
Moody had a white employer by the name of Mrs. Clairborne who treated

Because I am a student athletic trainer, I can relate to the frustrations that some of the participants

Bowman and Dodge stated in the article that the amount of complaints about low compensation are in
the minority, and this could be one of the reasons that more has not been done to increase the
compensation for athletic trainers. The article also discussed that the NATA was doing more to help
with increasing the pay, but more people are needed to bring the topic to a larger issue. I also found
the article helpful in that I am currently looking for schools to attend for a master s in athletic training.
This article has helped me realize that I need to look at more than financials and requirements of a
program when I look into different schools. While these are important things to consider, I now know
to be aware of what I don t want in a program, to look at the professors and their backgrounds and
evaluations, the BOC passing or failing rates, and the classroom/clinical expectations and academic

compensation. The experience that I have, although little, is enough to make me curious as to why
athletic trainers get paid so little when they do so much for an

Nt1310 Unit 3 Assignment 1 Bridge
Bridge:
Bridge is a simple device that aids in interconnecting similar LAN s between local area networks that
use identical protocols for the physical and data link layers in accordance with the IEEE 802.3
standards. As the devices connected to the bridge use the same protocols, the amount of processing
required is minimal. Nowadays, routers are used more commonly to interconnect LAN s as bridges are
Layer 2 devices and pose almost no security while the router is a Layer 3 device and offers better Data
Security.
Routers:
Paraphrasing (Stallings, 2007) the function of routers is to get the packet to a destination network. The
router reads the header created by the Network Layer of the protocol stack on the source computer.

Compare And Contrast College Football And Pro Football
Many of the fans think college football is better than pro football, but I think this is not true. Each of

There are some similarities about the stadiums which host the team who is playing another(away)
team. Most stadiums have a hall of fame or a historic piece of history which stands today. Many of
these stadiums are very expensive and many are asking why they have the stadiums in the first place.
The length of each football field are one hundred yards and have two end zones, which you get points
when one person walks or runs into it.
Next, is the differences. One of the differences is about the rules. One of the rules is when the players
take drugs when the doctor did not prescribe it to them, it is an offence. The penalty for college is ban
for more than three games, and for pro football, it is four or more games. Many of the pro football
players get paid and the college football players do not get paid at all, because they are in school and
they can t do anything to get paid for just playing

Interloper By Saki
To be competitive is not necessarily a horrible quality in of itself, unless one is craving the blood of
someone else. Especially, none other than your neighbor. In the short story, Interloper by Saki, the
competition between the two main characters, Georg Znaeym and Ulrich Von Gradwitz, is rather
intense. The two are on a life long quest, driven by their competitive spirit, to hunt the other down,
even if it leads to their death. Saki illustrates their competitive spirit through their pride, hate for each
other, and nature itself. First and foremost, throughout the story, Georg and Ulrich s competitive spirit
was constantly illustrated through their pride in many various ways. One of the many ways was when
Saki narrates, The feud might, perhaps, have died down or been compromised if the personal ill will
of the two men had not stood in the way... (1). At any given moment, the feud could have been
forgotten or even forgiven, but the two refused to let that happen. This gives reason to believe that the
only reason why their fight persisted was partially due to their pride. Their pride mentally prohibited
them from putting an end to the feud, thus depicting their competitive spirit. ... Show more content on

During their quarrelsome argument, Ulrich said, I m caught in my own forest land. When my men
come to release us you will wish, perhaps, that you were in a better plight than caught poaching on a
neighbour s land, shame on you (Saki 3). Alternatively, Ulrich is saying that he is planning on killing
Georg once he escapes. This feeling further intensifies the competitive spirit between the two because
Ulrich plans to show no mercy at all. Conversely, Georg would probably plan for the same to happen

Mother To Son By Langston Hughes Analysis
Mother To Son by Langston Hughes
The poem I chose is called Mother to Son by Langston Hughes which describes her life as no crystal
stair . The poem begins with the mother telling her son about her life and how it was no crystal stair (
1). She then goes on to tell him how her stairs were broken, bare, and torn up, but they still take her
somewhere and that they were still climbing. The mother tells the son So boy, don t you turn back.
Don t you set down on the steps. Cause you finds its kinder hard. Don t you fall now For I se still goin
, honey, I se still climbin (14 19). While reading this poem I noticed how the speaker, the mother, had
a determined attitude about not stopping and climbing. Since she is talking to her son, she wants him
to succeed and although he may not have come from wealth and prosperity, that does not mean that he
has to fail. In the poem, it seems like the speaker is wise and knows that even if someone has
disadvantages and struggles, it does not mean that they can t have a future. The tone changes when the
mother tells her son how she has not had a good life or no crystal stair to that even though she doesn t
have good stairs, doesn t mean she can t move forward and climb. ... Show more content on

Stairs seem to be a symbol that represents life. The mother told her son that she had bare, broken stairs
which could mean that she had a rough life which would have meant it was hard to get money, she

makes it almost a conversation like poem that is taking place in real life. There are symbols such as

Comparing Beowulf, The Wanderer, And The 13th Warrior
Ty DeJames
Mr. Neely
4 17 15
One common question in literature that always reappears is What is an epic hero? Or better yet an epic
hero in Anglo Saxon culture. I believe there is more to being a hero than just being strong or
intelligent. An epic hero in my eyes is oneself who comes to portray the beliefs of the society in which
the tale/story is depicted. A few great examples of the Anglo Saxon epic hero are the literary
characters in Beowulf, The Wanderer, and The 13th Warrior. These are all outstanding examples of
Anglo Saxon epic heroes because they all came to show the evident characteristics bravery, loyalty,
friendship. In the Anglo Saxon culture and literature, the meaning of to be a hero was to be a warrior
and or a strong being. A hero also had to possess the vast characteristics of being strong, intelligent,
and courageous. All warriors of Anglo Saxon culture and literature, had to be willing to face any odds
and be willing to be the underdog that chases success. Also they had to fight to the death for their
glory and accept their each individual fates. The typical Anglo Saxon hero was always able to be all of
these and still be humble and very down to earth. Out of all literature Beowulf is, arguably, the best
example one can use of an Anglo Saxon hero. But, in The 13th Warrior, Ibn Fadlan (played by
Antonio Banderas) similar to Beowulf, also shows many of the characteristics that come to show the
qualities one needs to possess to become an Anglo Saxon

Comparison of the British Parliament and the American Congress
Németh Barbara

Introduction
I write this essay with the aim of comparing the British Parliament with the American Congress. I
personally think that everybody should know the major differences between political system of the US
and the UK.
First of all, I would like to describe my technical conception in my essay. I separated it in two columns
and on the left side I write about the British Parliament and on the other side about the American
Congress. I tried to draw a parallel between the two systems and the columns, which are next to each
other, examine the two institutes from the same aspect. After each section I summarized what has been

The British Parliament is often called the Mother of Parliaments, as the legislative bodies of many
nations—most notably, those of the members of the Commonwealth—are modeled on it. However, it is
a misquotation of John Bright, who had actually remarked on 18 January 1865 that England is the
Mother of Parliaments , in the context of supporting demands for expanded voting rights in a country
which had pioneered Parliamentary government. The Congress of the United States is the legislative
branch of the federal government of the United States of America. It is established by Article One of
the Constitution of the United States, which also deliniates its structure and powers. Congress is a
bicameral legislature, consisting of the House of Representatives (the Lower House ) and the Senate
(the Upper House ).
The House of Representatives consists of 435 members, each of whom is elected by a congressional
district and serves a two year term. Seats in the House are divided between the states on the basis of
population, but each state is entitled to at least one seat. In the Senate, on the other hand, each state is
represented by two members, regardless of population. As there are fifty states in the Union, the
Senate consists of one hundred members. Each Senator, who is elected by the whole state rather than
by a district, serves a six year term. Senatorial terms are staggered so that approximately one third of

Catalase Optimum Temperature
Catalase possesses a range of optimal temperatures depending on what organism those cells belong to.
Human catalase has an optimum temperature of around 45 degrees Celsius, whereas plants have a
slightly lower optimal temperature for catalase at around 37 40 degrees Celsius. Catalase works
optimally at a neutral pH between 6.8 7.5, allowing it to operate in nearly all types of cells. Catalase is
generally found in the peroxisomes of a cell, but can also be found elsewhere in small quantities.
Although catalase is found in all cells, it can be in varying concentrations depending on where that
cell is in the body; the liver possesses higher levels of catalase compared to the rest of the body as it
uses the enzyme not only to break down hydrogen

Performance Appraisal- Management Procedure
Performance appraisals are an essential element of the general performance management procedure. A
performance management structure involves having an appraisal technique or method, substantiated
by job types, colloquial and continuous feedback, leadership training, performance expectations,
punitive policies, as well as employee productivity and acknowledgement. In addition, both positive
and negative feedback are elements that are instrumental in the arena of performance management.
However, the paramount cause of performance appraisal efficiency as well as effectiveness is how
well each of these elements correlates with one another. Performance appraisal is the procedure
through which employee performance is evaluated, feedback is delivered, and development plans are
designed (Youssef, 2012). Therefore, strategic Human Resource Management (HRM) is vital to
successful organizational objectives. While the core objective of performance appraisals is the
evaluation of employees work performance, organizations utilize performance appraisals for a variety
of goals; these include managing salaries, wages, and pay incentives and adjustments. In addition
performance appraisals can be performed by management to establish job placement decisions, and to
validate employee punitive decisions (Youssef, 2012). Performance appraisal is made up of several
components. Youssef states... A holistic approach to performance appraisal means viewing
performance as a multidimensional system of

The Thing About Poaching Research Paper
The Thing About Poaching.
Half a century ago, White Rhinos used to roam the vast lands of South Africa. But for some reason,
the number of rhinos has dropped by a million. The answer to this cause is simple. Poaching.
Poaching has continued for many years and has caused a huge number of African animals to become
extinct. With only 25,000 rhinos left in the world, this huge situation should not only be recognized in
Africa, but should also be noticed all over the world.
During the last few centuries, the number of rhinos and elephants has declined dramatically and is still
decreasing rapidly. About 3 rhinos are killed each day. They are hunted down for their horns which are
used to make medicine and ivory carvings. Places like Vietnam and China tolerate poaching for its
medicine that supposedly cures cancer . With higher demands in Asia, prices have spiked; and so has
poaching. According to the Newsela article Rhinos will soon be extinct if poachers don t stop killing
them , in 2014 400 tons of ivory were extracted from elephants. Statistics have also stated that in
2013, 1,215 rhinos have died at the hands of poaching; and to this day, poaching is still growing. ...

Introduced in Newsela, Poaching has also affected the inhabitants of South Africa as well . Due to
this, many poor, young men have turned to poaching in order to gain money to feed their families.
Even the smallest amount of money would cause survival to be possible. Although the government has
tried many new tactics to stop this problem, there is still very little change. We can t rely solely on the
authorities and policemen to hunt these poachers

Characterization Of Fate And Free Will In Oedipus The King
Oedipus Rex, written by Sophocles at approximately 430 BC, is viewed as one of the greatest tragic
plays of all time. Greek plays were predominantly performed in religious ceremonies in honor of the
Greek Gods. This play, whose plot is fulfilled in a day, engages the audience to ponder on the
interactions between fate and free will. It also captivates the minds of the audience by stimulating
thought on the implications of obliviousness and knowledge. Initially, Oedipus, the protagonist
believes his decisions would help him evade his fate and exert control over his life. However, contrary
to his beliefs, his choices lead him to his fate. This essay will explore Sophocles characterization of
Oedipus to convey: free will or human choices contribute ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is often seen through the manner they refer him. They view Oedipus as the best of men (p.6, line
27) and believe that he is omnipotent with Gods (p.6, line 7). Sophocles reveals Oedipus to be a just
king who is trusted and adored by his men. The citizens of Thebes never think Oedipus is guilty of
[the] crime (p.28, line 17) even when Tiresias tells Oedipus is the murderer. This shows the extent of
faith they have in Oedipus. Oedipus is presented as a man with goodness of nature, which is one of the
elements of a tragic hero. Oedipus obstinacy in finding the truth is a virtue that the citizens of Thebes
admired but he had it in excess. This was his hamartia and the main quality he possessed that
eventually led him to his downfall. His hamartia is seen in numerous instances in the play. His quest
for the truth led him to the Oracle at Delphi which resulted in him deciding to run away. Soon when
Oedipus rules over Thebes he mentions he shall not rest (p.15, line 39) until he tracks down the
murderer. Later on, even when Jocasta pleads to not pursue the truth for his own life s sake (p.59, line
4) he doesn t stop. Sophocles characterizes Oedipus to be consistent in pursuing the truth throughout
the play. Oedipus tragic flaw or hamartia and his consistency of character from the beginning to the
end of the play are the characteristics that made him a great tragic

Through the IR spectrum we can identify it as an isoborneol because it s basically a hydrocarbon with
a carbonyl. The C H stretching around 3000 wavenumbers, there isn t much else you can identify.
Camphor is fairly simple, so there is no anything other than the carbonyl and some C H stretching.
The spectrum of isoborneol should show an OH peak, though because it s a solid sample, the peak
won t be as broad as those seen for OH peaks in liquid samples. My guess is that the peak at ~3600
wavenumbers is the OH group. However, in my result, the wave doesn t seem to be clearly showed. It
probably means that my isoborneol sample has retained some amount of the precursor, either because
the reaction didn t go to completion or because my purification procedure was inadequate.
Borneol and isoborneol contain an asymmetric carbon atom (denoted by an asterisk), and therefore
each of them exists in two optically active forms and one inactive racemic form ( , +, and ±). Borneol
has an endo configuration; in other hand, its isomer, isoborneol, has an exo

Early Christian Art
In Rome, the inception of Christianity was not embraced with open arms to say the least. This was
mainly due to Rome s emperors feeling threatened by the newly founded religion. Meetings between
Christians were prohibited, and the clergy were persecuted with much vigor. [Christians were]
considered to be a danger to the state.... (Shlosser 179) Since the religious practice of Christianity was
deemed illegal by officials, the use of symbols was essential when it came to not only signaling a
meeting place but also for the continuation of the religion. A fish is an example of one of the various
symbols adopted by Christians.
Introduction to Early Christian Art Some of the earliest Christian art discovered were frescos which
decorated the walls in various catacombs. These secluded areas were ...subterranean burial chambers

After Christianity had become legalized in Rome, the position of the male in Orans would later on be

fresco Christ as Good Shepherd exhibits a reoccurring theme in Christianity. Jesus as the shepherd
watches over His flock of sheep which are supposed to symbolize humanity. The art piece presents
Jesus as our protector and savior. [The] catacombs, last used in the fifth century and accidentally
rediscovered in the sixteenth, are well known to contemporary tourists in Italy [now days]: [and] are

Daphnia Thermotactic Reaction
The results of the study found that there was a significant difference in Daphnia s response when
exposed to a cold stimulus in the form of crushed ice, compared to room temperature water. Thus, the
null hypothesis was rejected and the alternate hypothesis was accepted. These findings could be due to
the fact that Daphnia magna are cold blooded and were trying to swim away from the ice cubes that
were attached to the bottom of the mesocosm opposite to the counting area. These results support the
idea that Daphnia experience a negative thermotactic reaction when exposed to colder water compared
to room temperature water.
When compared to a similar study, a similar conclusion was made. In a study conducted by Gerristen,
he studied if Daphnia would experience a positive or a negative thermotactic reaction when exposed to
a variety of different temperatures. Once the experiment was completed, Gerristen was able to
conclude that the Daphnia did indeed experience a negative thermotactic reaction and swam away
from the cold stimuli. He claimed that these results were due to the Daphnia s natural instinct to seek
warmer water (Gerristen 1982). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

hormone of their predator (Glaholt et al. 2016). A future study can be conducted to allow a better

how one thinks about others. O Connor uses imagery and symbolism to define this.
In today s society, we don t really take a second look at other races. Everyone is so accustomed to

The Reaction To The Emancipation Proclamation
Reaction to the Proclamation
The Proclamation had little impact on slavery. The Proclamation only applied to places where it was
under Confederate Control. The Proclamation was condemned in the South and debated in the North.
Abolitionists criticized Lincoln for not going far enough. The Proclamation did nothing to free people
who were enslaved in the border states. So, slaves in the Confederate states that were controlled by the
Union s force were not affected. Northerners feared that all freed people coming to the North would
cause a lot of unemployment. The Northern Africans response was way more positive. Abolitionist
Frederick Douglas said:
We shout for joy that we live to record this righteous decree.
There was no immediate end to slavery.
African Americans Join the War and African Soldiers
The Emancipation Proclamation had two different immediate effects. The Proclamation inspired
Southern slaves to free themselves by escaping to the protection of Union troops. This encouraged
Africans to join the war. When the Civil War began, Africans volunteers were not allowed to join the
Union army until July of 1862. In July of 1872, Congress authorized Lincoln to accept the
announcement in the Emancipation Proclamation that Africans could now join the Union Army. In
1865 over 180,000 African Americans had been enlisted in the Union Army. More than half of the
soldiers were from the South. The Africans from the South that became soldiers fought for others who

Iconography Of Virgin Mary
The iconography contained in this painting is religious for the most obvious reasons such as the
depiction of the Virgin Mary, baby Jesus, along with the angel holding the Virgin s crown. Also, the
capitals that are shown on the left include scenes from the Old Testament which highlight humanity
errors. Some of the errors that are depicted are Adam and Eve getting thrown out from the Garden of
Eden, the sacrifice of Caine and Abel, God receiving Abel s offering, along with other scenes. Another
reason why there is religious iconography can be seen between the positions of the individuals who

Gospel Of Luke Analysis
The Gospel of Luke was written by a Greek speaking Christian. It was not written to replace the
Gospel of Mark, but as a new account written for an audience under different circumstances than
Mark s community. The church was becoming more Gentiles than Jews. Most people in Luke s
community were not familiar with the Jewish traditions that were referred to by many preachers.
Many members of the community were well off as well. This community struggled to follow a church
that had a Hebrew core. These issues are what influenced Luke s writing. Luke wanted his community
to know that they were all included in God s plan for salvation even though in history the Jews would
have been the first to know. A few of the major themes of Luke s Gospel were: salvation for all, mercy
and forgiveness, and modern ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the early Christian community, this story was seen as a call to faith in Jesus who is present in the
church during stormy times (Kodell 953). This interpretation is still incredibly relevant for Christians
today. This passage shows Christians that Jesus is there for you through everything. Even in tough
times, Jesus is there. The storm in the passage is symbolic for stormy times in life. Jesus calming the
storm is representative of the support that God can provide for you during tough times. No matter
what the situation, God will be there for you.
The Calming of a Storm at Sea shows Luke s community the power of Jesus. It shows that Jesus is
there for you when you need him. The passage shows that even when you lack faith, like the disciples

Walmart Case Study Analysis
For decades, Wal Mart has held the title of the American retailer (although it is international) where
people can get products for the lowest price possible. As the world s largest retailer, Wal Mart has
been looked at as a role model for many competitors who desired the profits Wal Mart has received in
past periods. The founder, Sam Walton, began to design his stores in 1962 to the have everyday low
pricing (EDLP) method, opposed to the popular at the time hi lo pricing. Lucky for Walton,
throughout the late 1900s there was a great trend in discount retailing buying in bulk at a lower price,
which EDLP catered to, making Wal Mart the leading retailer. The firm also strides itself on its
efficient strategies in its supply chain, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That is, the distribution centers were always up to date on which stores were selling what, and which
stores needed more inventory and what products they needed. Because of this, Wal Mart stores were
almost never out of stock for any product, and kept customers satisfied.
While Wal Mart has been the leading retailer in the industry and has had many great strategies to keep
up its competitive advantage, for the past decade competitors have been able to close the gap between
them. Major competitors of the firm include Dollar Stores, Kmart, Sears, Costco, Tesco and Kroger.
Amazon.com has become a major threat to Wal Mart, with the convenience of online shopping many
customers have switched over to ordering from Amazon.com than physically going in a Wal Mart
store and making the purchase. While Wal Mart s stock has been stalled at $45 55 per share, all of its
competitors stocks have been increasing. Neuhausen states, We ve owned Wal Mart stock for the past
decade, and it s been basically flat over that period. During the same time, we d have made more
money had we been invested in the S P index of the largest 500 U.S. stocks... The data suggest that
new competitors, especially the Dollar Stores, Amazon.com and Tesco are gaining in popularity in the
United States (Mark, 14).
It is imperative that Wal Mart takes some sort of

  • 2. Why Do Motorcycle Saddlebags There are few motorcycle accessories that are more important than your motorcycle saddlebags, and it s important that you give them proper care to make them last. Remember, your saddlebags will be holding some of your most important stuff, and since they are usually out of sight, out of mind, it is easy to forget about them when it comes time to care for your bike. Remember the days before you had motorcycle saddlebags? I sure do. I used to wear a backpack which, when loaded, would offset the balance and sometimes make for a scary ride. If I ever rode through wet weather, my gear in the backpack would almost always get soaked. Trust me when I tell you that it s almost impossible to dry out a down sleeping bag by campfire on a cool spring evening! ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Any more often than this and you are wasting your time, and the cleaning product. If you ride in the sun, or your bike spends time parked out in the sun, a cleaner/conditioner with UV (ultraviolet) protection is a must. The sun will wreak havoc on your leather saddlebags, drying them out and will turn them into brittle and useless scraps of leather. When using the cleaning/conditioning product for the first time, wipe it on a small area on the underside, and look for any staining or discoloration before cleaning the whole bag. Some leather experts say to stay away from products containing petroleum products. My rule of thumb is to use something that others have had great success with regardless of the ingredients. I try to look for leather products that penetrate deeply and offer good moisture protection. One great old standby is saddle soap. Saddle soap is as old as leather (it seems), is cheap and is very gentle on the leather. Some say it s old fashioned, and compared to modern conditioning products, doesn t offer enough protection from the elements. Sometimes these cleaning/conditioning products will have strong chemicals that will give off nasty fumes.Try to use them outdoors so you don t inhale these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Comparing Terminator Two And Wachowski s The Matrix Science fiction films constantly question technology s role in our lives. Films such as James Cameron s Terminator 2 (1991), George Lucas s THX 1138 (1971) and the Wachowski s, The Matrix (1999), discuss the anxieties and dangers associated with technology. THX 1138 alerts the audience of the control technology has over the people who use it. The Matrix critiques how susceptible people are to believe in the visuals of cinema and reject through reality. Terminator 2 focuses on the unreliably of technology and alerts us of our need to stop relying to machinery and technological development. Each of these directors portrays the dangers of technology though their own individual use of cinematic expression. The entire premise of Terminator 2 is to go back in time in order to enlighten those in the past about the dangerous outcome technology will have on their future. People are unaware of the consequences of using and developing technology. This irresponsible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Matrix used some of the most high tech technology and editing to do so. Morpheus s ship is completely wretched and the computers they use are run down. Including unattractive technology in the composition of the film makes that same technology unappealing to the viewer. The directors created The Matrix in order to represent the illusions our screens depict. There is editing that slows down or speeds up the action scenes, like when Neo dodged the multiple bullets, in order to express the bending of reality. Another example of the cinematic bending of reality is when the helicopter hits a building and we see the glass walls ripple out. Bending lines represent the distortion of reality in the film. Eleven years that couldn amp;#8217;t even be saved by the four million dollar bribe offered by Capone amp;#8217;s attorneys. In 1934 Capone was transferred to Alcatraz, and in 1939 he was paroled. The main reason for the difference is that the two places are at different sides , one in the east, the other in the west, and because of this difference, the weather at these places can also have a big effect on the beaches. Erosion is a process that occurs at both the beaches in San Diego and Northeast Florida. The only difference between the two is that in San Diego, the erosion occurs on the bluffs, while in Florida, it occurs on the dunes. Both the natural and human activities cause erosion to occur at both places. The activities include the weather, such as the storms can wash away the sand, which will eventually cause erosion to occur, and human building structures near the shorelines can allow erosion to happen. Although erosion is still occurring at the shorelines, people have tried to do some activities that can help reduce or slow the bluff and dunes erosion at both places. In San Diego, people have built sea walls and placed riprap along the shorelines to help prevent erosion. Sea walls are usually made up of boulders, steels, and concrete and they are more expensive to build than the riprap (Metzler). From the information provided, it would seem necessary that tactical and strategic analysis would be required in order to determine the course of events and the ways in which the investigation should be performed. By utilizing the psychological techniques which are accessible to the police department, it is quite possible to analyze the past events and determine what may or may not continue to occur in the future until the individuals responsible for the crimes are apprehended. 2. Is this a crime series? Why, or why not? It would seem that this may be a crime series, because there are characteristics in the three crimes which overlap. However, there are also instances in each case which differ from one another and thus the case should be investigated as a potential series but the analysts should not overlook the possibility that these are unrelated, coincidental crimes. 3. Were there any clues that may help establish the identity of either of the suspects? There are some clues which could help identify the suspects in the case. • 12. Cultural Changes From The 1960 S Conrad Phillip Kottak has visited the small village of Arembepe numerous times over the years. His visits were frequent, but spaced out over a couple years, which caused him to begin to notice some very dramatic changes from the Arembepe he came to know. The development of a more stratified society caused for some major changes coming to the small community. This essay is going to address the major cultural changes from the 1960 s to the 1980 s and whether or not the suburbanization of this village community was good or bad. Arembepe in the 1960 s consisted of only 159 households (730 people), which made up the small village community. Malnutrition, poor public health, and high infant mortality struck the village during this time. Traveling to and from Arembepe proved difficult because it lacked paved roads. Hardly any people ever visited the village, which is why Kottak often referred to it as being isolated from the rest of the world. Having no electricity in the village also proved a real struggle for communication to the outside world. 74% of men in Arembepe worked as fishermen and 11% worked in business (Kottak 50). In order to make a good living, it was very common for men to have more than one job. Women would cook, clean, make items for fishing, and help run stores. Overall, Arembepe in the 1960 s was not a stratified society, but that was soon going to change. Having been born and raised in an impoverished black family from the South, she experienced first hand the disparity in the lives of Whites and Blacks. The story begins with Anne as a four year old child watching her parents work everyday for Mr. Carter, a white plantation owner. She witnessed several black farmers living in rotten, two room wooden shacks. It was most likely evident to her, even at that early age, that Whites were the affluent, upper class. One explanation for her mother s reaction is her hesitancy to engage in discussions about race. Throughout the text Moody s mother seems to accept her place as an inferior without questioning the superiority of whites and the issues that racial inequities engender. Her mother s reluctance to challenge the status quo contributes to Moody s evolving understanding of impact of the racism. As Anne begins to mature she comes to the stark realization that the existing racial divide is not simply a difference based on economic disparity but a true statement of inferiority versus superiority. One experience that manifested this was a visit to a movie theater with some white friends. Moody was not allowed to sit with the group; she was forced to sit instead in the Jim Crowe section. Later in the text Moody received her first job working for a white woman earning two nickels a week. Her employer also gave her milk, the sour milk that the cats drank from. This insincere gesture of kindness continued to show Moody that she was not respected as a human being, but regarded with no higher priority than that of an animal. The two are on a life long quest, driven by their competitive spirit, to hunt the other down, even if it leads to their death. Saki illustrates their competitive spirit through their pride, hate for each other, and nature itself. First and foremost, throughout the story, Georg and Ulrich s competitive spirit was constantly illustrated through their pride in many various ways. One of the many ways was when Saki narrates, The feud might, perhaps, have died down or been compromised if the personal ill will of the two men had not stood in the way... (1). At any given moment, the feud could have been forgotten or even forgiven, but the two refused to let that happen. • 24. Comparing Beowulf, The Wanderer, And The 13th Warrior Ty DeJames Mr. Neely 4 17 15 One common question in literature that always reappears is What is an epic hero? Or better yet an epic hero in Anglo Saxon culture. I believe there is more to being a hero than just being strong or intelligent. An epic hero in my eyes is oneself who comes to portray the beliefs of the society in which the tale/story is depicted. A few great examples of the Anglo Saxon epic hero are the literary characters in Beowulf, The Wanderer, and The 13th Warrior. These are all outstanding examples of Anglo Saxon epic heroes because they all came to show the evident characteristics bravery, loyalty, friendship. In the Anglo Saxon culture and literature, the meaning of to be a hero was to be a warrior and or a strong being. A hero also had to possess the vast characteristics of being strong, intelligent, and courageous. All warriors of Anglo Saxon culture and literature, had to be willing to face any odds and be willing to be the underdog that chases success. Also they had to fight to the death for their glory and accept their each individual fates. The typical Anglo Saxon hero was always able to be all of these and still be humble and very down to earth. Out of all literature Beowulf is, arguably, the best example one can use of an Anglo Saxon hero. The Congress of the United States is the legislative branch of the federal government of the United States of America. It is established by Article One of the Constitution of the United States, which also deliniates its structure and powers. Congress is a bicameral legislature, consisting of the House of Representatives (the Lower House ) and the Senate (the Upper House ). The House of Representatives consists of 435 members, each of whom is elected by a congressional district and serves a two year term. Seats in the House are divided between the states on the basis of population, but each state is entitled to at least one seat. In the Senate, on the other hand, each state is represented by two members, regardless of population. As there are fifty states in the Union, the Senate consists of one hundred members. Each Senator, who is elected by the whole state rather than by a district, serves a six year term. Senatorial terms are staggered so that approximately one third of the terms ... Human catalase has an optimum temperature of around 45 degrees Celsius, whereas plants have a slightly lower optimal temperature for catalase at around 37 40 degrees Celsius. Catalase works optimally at a neutral pH between 6.8 7.5, allowing it to operate in nearly all types of cells. Catalase is generally found in the peroxisomes of a cell, but can also be found elsewhere in small quantities. Although catalase is found in all cells, it can be in varying concentrations depending on where that cell is in the body; the liver possesses higher levels of catalase compared to the rest of the body as it uses the enzyme not only to break down hydrogen ... • 29. Performance Appraisal- Management Procedure Performance appraisals are an essential element of the general performance management procedure. A performance management structure involves having an appraisal technique or method, substantiated by job types, colloquial and continuous feedback, leadership training, performance expectations, punitive policies, as well as employee productivity and acknowledgement. In addition, both positive and negative feedback are elements that are instrumental in the arena of performance management. However, the paramount cause of performance appraisal efficiency as well as effectiveness is how well each of these elements correlates with one another. Performance appraisal is the procedure through which employee performance is evaluated, feedback is delivered, and development plans are designed (Youssef, 2012). Therefore, strategic Human Resource Management (HRM) is vital to successful organizational objectives. While the core objective of performance appraisals is the evaluation of employees work performance, organizations utilize performance appraisals for a variety of goals; these include managing salaries, wages, and pay incentives and adjustments. In addition performance appraisals can be performed by management to establish job placement decisions, and to validate employee punitive decisions (Youssef, 2012). But for some reason, the number of rhinos has dropped by a million. The answer to this cause is simple. Poaching. Poaching has continued for many years and has caused a huge number of African animals to become extinct. With only 25,000 rhinos left in the world, this huge situation should not only be recognized in Africa, but should also be noticed all over the world. During the last few centuries, the number of rhinos and elephants has declined dramatically and is still decreasing rapidly. About 3 rhinos are killed each day. They are hunted down for their horns which are used to make medicine and ivory carvings. Places like Vietnam and China tolerate poaching for its medicine that supposedly cures cancer . With higher demands in Asia, prices have spiked; and so has poaching. According to the Newsela article Rhinos will soon be extinct if poachers don t stop killing them , in 2014 400 tons of ivory were extracted from elephants. • 31. Characterization Of Fate And Free Will In Oedipus The King Oedipus Rex, written by Sophocles at approximately 430 BC, is viewed as one of the greatest tragic plays of all time. Greek plays were predominantly performed in religious ceremonies in honor of the Greek Gods. This play, whose plot is fulfilled in a day, engages the audience to ponder on the interactions between fate and free will. It also captivates the minds of the audience by stimulating thought on the implications of obliviousness and knowledge. Initially, Oedipus, the protagonist believes his decisions would help him evade his fate and exert control over his life. However, contrary to his beliefs, his choices lead him to his fate. This is often seen through the manner they refer him. They view Oedipus as the best of men (p.6, line 27) and believe that he is omnipotent with Gods (p.6, line 7). Sophocles reveals Oedipus to be a just king who is trusted and adored by his men. The citizens of Thebes never think Oedipus is guilty of [the] crime (p.28, line 17) even when Tiresias tells Oedipus is the murderer. This shows the extent of faith they have in Oedipus. Oedipus is presented as a man with goodness of nature, which is one of the elements of a tragic hero. Oedipus obstinacy in finding the truth is a virtue that the citizens of Thebes admired but he had it in excess. This was his hamartia and the main quality he possessed that eventually led him to his downfall. His hamartia is seen in numerous instances in the play. His quest for the truth led him to the Oracle at Delphi which resulted in him deciding to run away. Soon when Oedipus rules over Thebes he mentions he shall not rest (p.15, line 39) until he tracks down the murderer. Later on, even when Jocasta pleads to not pursue the truth for his own life s sake (p.59, line 4) he doesn t stop. Daphnia Thermotactic Reaction The results of the study found that there was a significant difference in Daphnia s response when exposed to a cold stimulus in the form of crushed ice, compared to room temperature water. Thus, the null hypothesis was rejected and the alternate hypothesis was accepted. These findings could be due to the fact that Daphnia magna are cold blooded and were trying to swim away from the ice cubes that were attached to the bottom of the mesocosm opposite to the counting area. These results support the idea that Daphnia experience a negative thermotactic reaction when exposed to colder water compared to room temperature water. When compared to a similar study, a similar conclusion was made. In a study conducted by Gerristen, he studied if Daphnia would experience a positive or a negative thermotactic reaction when exposed to a variety of different temperatures. Once the experiment was completed, Gerristen was able to conclude that the Daphnia did indeed experience a negative thermotactic reaction and swam away from the cold stimuli. I never truly understood what that meant until taking psychology during my senior year of high school and learned that people aren t born a certain way. They have been influenced by the environment which includes family, school, friends and their residence. In Everything that Rises must Converge O Connor spot lights racism, which is still prevalent throughout many different cultures and societies and changes how one thinks about others. • 37. The Reaction To The Emancipation Proclamation Reaction to the Proclamation The Proclamation had little impact on slavery. The Proclamation only applied to places where it was under Confederate Control. The Proclamation was condemned in the South and debated in the North. Abolitionists criticized Lincoln for not going far enough. The Proclamation did nothing to free people who were enslaved in the border states. So, slaves in the Confederate states that were controlled by the Union s force were not affected. Northerners feared that all freed people coming to the North would cause a lot of unemployment. The Northern Africans response was way more positive. Abolitionist Frederick Douglas said: We shout for joy that we live to record this righteous decree. There was no immediate end to slavery. African Americans Join the War and African Soldiers The Emancipation Proclamation had two different immediate effects. The Proclamation inspired Southern slaves to free themselves by escaping to the protection of Union troops. This encouraged Africans to join the war. When the Civil War began, Africans volunteers were not allowed to join the Union army until July of 1862. In July of 1872, Congress authorized Lincoln to accept the announcement in the Emancipation Proclamation that Africans could now join the Union Army.
