Essay On Cardiac MRI
Theory The pixel time profiles in cardiac MRI are extremely organized when we have perfect gating
and breath holding. Some penalties for example; temporal Fourier sparsity (to exploit low temporal
bandwidth), temporal total variation (to exploit smooth pixel time profiles) or low rank penalties (to
exploit the redundancy between the pixel time profiles) can be utilized to make the recovery from
under sampled data well posed. However, the compactness of the signal representations will be
extensively degraded in the presence of inter frame motion, which can emerge due to breathing or
inconsistent gating; because of which, the performance of the above schemes will be extensively
compromised. We propose to defeat the above limitation by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The regularization term in Eq. (1) promotes the sparsity of the deformation corrected dataset〖 T〗
_θ.L, instead of L. Here, Φ(u) indicates an arbitrary prior to exploit the redundancy in the data; λ is the
corresponding regularization parameter. The primary advantage of the proposed algorithm is that it
can be utilized with any spatio temporal priors on the deformation corrected dataset. The particular
priors can be chosen relying upon the particular application. The capability of the algorithm to handle
arbitrary image priors makes this methodology definitely different from classical motion
compensation algorithms that register each frame to a specific fully sampled frame. The deformation
field in Eq. (1) is assumed to be parametrically represented in terms of the parameters. For example, Θ
is the set of B spline coefficients if a B spline model is used to represent the deformation field as in
[24] and [25]. In this case, the spatial smoothness of the deformation map is controlled by the grid
spacing of the B spline map. The spatial smoothness requirements can also be explicitly forced using
regularization constraints on the deformation field as in [26]. Our approach is closely related to [26].
We suggest to use a variable splitting approach [27], [28] to decouple the original problem in (1) to
simpler sub problems. Specifically, we split the deformation from the l_1 norm by introducing an
auxiliary variable g. This enables us to reformulate the unconstrained

Comparing A Sorrowful Woman By Gail Godwin, And A Secret...
Children, Marriage and Love are the three main factors of the two short stories, A Sorrowful Woman
by Gail Godwin, and A Secret Sorrow by Karen van der Zee. Two relationships at risk because of
children. Neither of them know what to do but try to find solutions to solve their problems. They end
up having different outcomes.
In both stories both women face a major issue. In Godwin s story the main female character is
suffering depression and always feeling sad and tired from being around her child and taking care of
him and her husband. However, Faye in van der Zee s story is struggling with her reality of not being
able to have children and she s afraid of marrying her boyfriend, who is madly in love with her,
because she s afraid of disappointing him. Both women are unsure how to handle their problem and
their first instinct is to keep their distance and avoid their issues. Communication also played a huge
role in both situations. In A Secret Sorrow Kai wouldn t let Faye just walk away from him without
knowing what was wrong and wanted an explanation. That was the main key for their breakthrough.
In A Sorrowful Woman the husband would just agree with whatever his wife said and would abide by
her commands no matter how much it hurt him. If the husband would ve tried to figure out why she
was so sad and sick; things might ve gone differently.
In van der Zee s story Kai made Faye s tragedy his tragedy and made sure to let her know they were
going through it together.

Global Warming Is A Product Of Green House Effect
Global warming is the most talked topic in our time. It is the increasing temperature of Earth s surface,
oceans and atmosphere. There is an evidence that shows earth temperature increased by 1.4% since
late 1800s, which sounds small number but scientist predicted the temperature will rise another 2 to
11.5 degrees F over next 100 years. Global warming is a product of green house effect. Question is,
what is greenhouse effect? In common word, the interaction between Earth s atmosphere and
incoming radiation from is greenhouse effect. This greenhouse effect concept was first introduced by
Svante Arrhenius in 1896. There are many research on global warming issue. Some says it is not real

The environment stores just around 2% in view of its little heat limit. The surface can just assimilate
heat gradually in light of the fact that it is a poor heat conductor. In this manner, heat consumed by the
seas represents the majority of the planet s radiative imbalance. Researchers point to higher sea
temperatures as the primary guilty party for Hurricanes and other storms as those storms get their
energy from warm water. Scientific research shows that environmental change will bring about storms
and hurricanes to end up more exceptional enduring longer, unleashing more grounded winds, and
creating more harm to beach front biological communities and groups. Researchers point to higher sea

leaving farmers struggling to bring home the bacon. Increased temperatures worldwide because of an
unnatural weather change result in more prominent dampness assimilation and more droughts.
Without satisfactory soil dampness, farmers overall face money related hardship because of expanded
inconvenience producing crops. The risk isn t limited to farmers. The world s interest for organic
products, vegetables, and grains diminish because of drought. Along these lines, a worldwide

Book Of Kings Summary
The introduction of the book of Kings talks about Solomon being king as well as Jeroboam it then
goes on to talk about the Story of Elijah and Ahab. These two people did not get along. Ahab wanted
the Israelites to worship Baal, Elijah did not want that seeing that, he is a prophet he wanted the
Israelites to worship God. Since Elijah was becoming old he went out to seek out someone who would
be able to take over his position he found Elisha. The next part talks about Elisha s success. After that
it then goes on to talk about the End of the Omrid Dynasty as well as the end of Israel and Judah.
Naaman had been embarrassed of the way he looks due to his Leprosy. He felt embarrassed because
he was the army commander of the king and thought that since he had Leprosy people would look at
him differently and treat him differently. So, he went to the king of Israel to help with the cure, the
king tore his garments to pieces. Naaman went to Elisha, a prophet at the time. Elisha told Naaman to
go to the river and jump in seven times. Naaman did what he was told his flesh was then clean. As it
talks about in the Good Looks article people in society today are embarrassed of how they may look

discussed in the article Good Looks . We can relate this all back to an early lesson that we had talked
about, Image of God. God had created us all in his own unique image and however you may look God

Downtown Victoria Architectural Analysis
Downtown Victoria is filled with a great deal of architectural structures that vary in style from old
Eurocentric to modern. As you walk the streets of Downtown Victoria it is hard not to notice the
beautiful Eurocentric inspired buildings that make you feel as if you are touring an old city in Europe.
Although many of the more unique buildings are small, they display plenty of character through their
colours, shape and materials. Victoria has modernized some aspects of its architecture but it has
managed to keep many of its aged and Eurocentric inspired buildings that capture Victoria s character.
As I roam the streets of Downtown Victoria what catches my eye instantly are the Eurocentric looking
buildings. There is something especially about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I took a sunny afternoon to take a walking tour of Downtown Victoria and there were various
buildings that gave me different feelings as well as having my mind make connections to buildings I
ve seen elsewhere. First being 560 Yates Street s Oriental Building, where I was reminded of a New
York City style apartment which was short, made of rustic red brick, displaying rounded window
followed by having that tinted brown giving it that old and dirty look. Then there was a sudden switch
as I came across 1675 Douglas Street s Terasen Gas Building. The Terasen Gas building was very
generic and modern office looking building. This type of building was one where if you came across a
photo of it, you wouldn t be able to pin point where it came from, meaning it could be anywhere in the
world. The last and top favourite building that struck out to me was Centennial Square s City Hall
building. This building was my favourite for various reasons one being able to capture that
Eurocentric feel that happens to be one of my favourite styles of buildings. It also really captured the
eye with its bold red brick colour and unique shape; it s almost impossible to miss. The outstanding
thing about Victoria is the fact that its kept so many of its older structures and is still able to give the
small city character. Often with big cities there is constant

Wang Qing ren (1763 1831) was a famous physician of traditional Chinese medicine during the Qing
Dynasty. He wrote the Yi Lin Gai Cuo (Correcting the Errors in the Forest of Medicine), his only
published work, which first appeared in print in 1830 just a year before he died. Since then, it has been

As the oldest source of early Chinese medicine theory, the Nei Jing has naturally undergone many
centuries of interpretations and revisions from later thinkers and Chinese physician authors since its
inception back in the Han dynasty (206 BC). Hence it is both preserved, elaborated upon and
reworked over time and, in the case of Wang Qing ren, even challenged (Kaptchuk, 2000).
Ming and Qing Dynasties New Developments in Medical Theory Between the Ming and Qing
Dynasties (1368 1840) China underwent a series of significant transitions, most notably from feudal
society (Ming dynasty) to a form of commodity based economy (latter part of the Qing dynasty) as the
result of widespread restructuring of the central and local governments. Taxes were levied, land was
reclaimed and the cultivation of export crops such as hemp and cotton was encouraged, thus paving
the way for commercial trade to flourish.
This period of change and growth made way for new developments in science, technology,

The Amazing Platypus Research Paper
The Amazing Platypus The platypus has so many characteristics that even scientists sometimes
wonder how the platypus came about. An example includes how the platypus feeds itself if it has a
beak and claws! Platypuses also have venom, which is extremely strange, but to God, the platypus is
really part of his perfect creation. It seems to be that scientists even think that the platypus may be a
mutation. But it s not. It s part of the wonderful creation of God. This paper will discuss these three
things: how platypuses feed themselves, platypus poison, and the characteristics of a platypus.
Platypuses are odd creatures. They are not your ordinary beaver, otter, or duck. This is because they
seem to be a mixture of these three creatures.

Artificial Intelligence In Chapppie
In a world where Artificially Intelligent robot police keep the streets in order, smarter inventions are
bound to arise. In the movie Chappie, the main character Chappie, is programmed with a new system
that can make him feel and think independently. This film relates to the philosophers Searle and
Turing due to their similar topics of Artificial Intelligence.
Searle distinguishes two types of Artificial Intelligence which is Strong Artificial Intelligence and
Weak Artificial Intelligence. They are both categorized based on the objectives that the inventors and
researchers are concentrated on attaining. Strong Artificial Intelligence is a computer programmed to
mimic the behavior of a human would possess intelligence. Intelligence is ... Show more content on

On this view intelligence is just being able to imitate or mimic what a human being does. So, a
computer that can pass a turing test is intelligent. Chappie relates to Turing s position because Chappie
speaks and acts the same as a human, if it wasn t for his appearance it would be very difficult to
differentiate Chappie from a human. This film fully supports Turing because Chappie perfectly
represents Strong Artificial Intelligence. As soon as Chappie is created by his inventor, he establishes
a mother and father figure for himself. He grows up the same as a child does, starting from scratch and
learning by watching and listening to his surroundings. Then, Chappie soon gets his own ideas and
opinions the more time goes by. He acts and thinks independently, just the same as a human being,
therefore he is truly intelligent.
The Chinese Room Argument is Searle s refutation of Strong Artificial Intelligence. The idea will be
that we have an entity that will pass a Turing Test, but which clearly lacks intelligence, therefore it
represents Weak Artificial Intelligence. The Chinese Room argument Searle created has an English
speaker in a room with chinese writing and symbols and rules in English for translating a words into a
symbol. Just because the person can translate a symbol into a word does not make the room
intelligent. The answers come out right, but that

Blood Splatter Analysis Essay
Bloodstain pattern analysis (BPA), known in the criminal justice field as blood splatter analysis, has
been studied since the 1890s. Blood splatter, or bloodstain pattern constructional readings, is a
technique that seeks to piece together the incident that caused an individual s bleeding. Understanding
blood splatter on a wall or various surfaces can be instrumental in formulating if a crime was
committed and if the blood discovered at the crime scene can be used as evidence. The first
documentation of blood splatter research occurred at the Institute for Forensic Medicine in Poland, by
Dr. Eduard Piotrowski . During Dr. Piotrowski s research and documentation period, where he used
live bunnies to research blood splatter from head ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This test is portable and may be done at the crime scene. Once tests have determined the presence of
blood, more will be completed in the lab to determine if the blood is animal or human. Other tests will
determine the DNA, which can point the investigator to specific individuals. The completion of the
actual splatter analysis is done by a forensic scientist who establishes the path of the blood and how it
spread over the surface in question. The direction of movement can be determined by measuring the
shape of the bloodstain on a surface. This will also show the approximate speed at which the blood
contacted the surface, assists in distinguishing between the rapid movement of blood (produced by a
gunshot, severing of a main artery), or slower movement of blood from a minor cut. The origination of
blood can be determined by analyzing the size and location of the blood drops. A strong force of
impact will cause the blood to break up into smaller drops. Blood splatter made up of larger drops
with a path of smaller drops can show evidence about how the blood got there and where the blood
came from. An experienced blood splatter expert relies on their eyes and their training in the final
analysis, but will also use other tools such as specialized computer programs which can help in legal
cases . New technologies and methods concerning blood splatter have slowly evolved, but a most

The Agency s Post Revolution Influence Over Romanian Society
The impact of the Securitate s legacy on Romanian society continues to be substantial to this day. The
reason for this lies in its functions, which were fundamentally pervasive and intrusive, involving
countless informants and the widespread surveillance of society against dissent or perceived threats to
the regime. Because of its politically preservative function, the Securitate s reputation has become
inseparable from Ceausescu s regime. But in order for the impact of this security service to be
understood, some of its functions must be explored. This paper will discuss the ways in which the
Securitate fulfilled the role of preserving Ceasescu s regime. Once this is done, it will discuss the spirit
of the organization through an analysis of the film, QED. Finally, this paper will discuss the agency s
post revolution influence over Romanian society. A major source of insight into this organization
comes from the defection of Mihai Pacepa.
In 1978, the Romanian intelligence agencies experienced one of the worst blows in the history of
Soviet satellite states. Mihai Pacepa dealt the blow when he defected to the West. Pacepa was a
Deputy head of the DIE [the agency responsible for industrial espionage], and a deputy minister of the
Interior (Pg 322), making him a highly placed official of the Romanian security services. As a result of
his high ranking position, Pacepa possessed deep insight into the secrets and Modus Operandi of the

The Influence Of Music On The Music Industry
Music has always had an effect on people on their culture. From Jazz in the 1920 s to Rap just starting
up in the late 1980 s. Different genres of music have different effects on people and no genre is
specific to any culture. There are a variety of people that are affected by various genres of music that
you would least expect and it s helping expand the music industry greatly. I believe the most
influential genre of music in my opinion is Hip Hop/Rap.
Hip Hop/Rap started from block parties in New York City in the late 70 s. MC s paid DJ s to introduce
them to crowds and to also to keep the crowds pumped up and entertained. The DJ s came into play
after each song and they were the ones to try and get the crowd involved and keep them entertained.
The Sugarhill Gang s Rapper s Delight, released in 1979 and Kurtis Blow s The Breaks, released in
1980 opened up the Hip Hop industry and really got things going for Rap. Kurtis Blows song hit top 5
and it also went gold. Hip hop and Rap started as a voice for the African American community but
quickly came to represent an entire generation. From these humble beginnings almost 40 years ago, a
multi billion dollar industry has grown.
However, this musical genre has not come without its challenges. In the 90 s Rap in the United States
was strongly divided between East Coast and West Coast Rappers.West Coast came out swinging first
when Ice T released a song 6 in the mornin which was considered the first gangsta rap song

No More Miss America By Robin Morgan Essay
Many radical feminist groups such as the New York Radical Women group (NYRF) gathered together
as The Women Liberation Movement to protest against the deep rooted conception of a traditional
woman in the United States during the Second Wave Feminism (1960s 1990s). The Women Liberation
Movement was a demonstration of challenging society s common sense, or hegemony, which was
nurtured by the dominant ideology which in this case was a gender hierarchy where men were
believed to be superior to women. The primary source No More Miss America by Robin Morgan
describes her experiences as a participant of the NYRF protesting against the Miss American Pageant
in Atlantic City on September 7th 1968. The NYRF group discussed ten points of how the Miss
American Pageant promoted the traditional woman stereotype based on racial beauty standards,
submissiveness, and inferiority to men. The NYRF protest critiqued both the representation side of the
behavioral expectation of traditional women as well as the structural side of the obstacles that women
faced within social institutions such as labor and educational opportunities. With the representative
side traditional women promoted by the Miss American Pageant, it reinforced women s submissive
and sexist inferiority and racial beauty criteria within the structural side to be approval by men.
However, there was intersectionality in the structural obstacles and representation side extending the
social discrimination based on

One Decision Can Turn You Upside Down
When I was in 6th grade, two of my friends and I were doing what we always did, riding around on
the golf cart staying out of trouble, having the best time. I have been friends with these two girls for
almost ten years. We would tell each other anything and we always went for golf cart rides to talk
about anything and everything. Since we were at a young age, we always would go ride around in the
woods and laugh about random things. One night we got together and were doing what we regularly
did.
This night, in particular, was very eventful. The sun was still setting, the air was getting crisp, and the
full moon was coming out. It was the beginning of fall and the leaves were bright with fall colors. ...

I reached for her legs tenaciously and during that time when I was pulling her back, the whole golf
cart flipped on its side.
After we had flipped it, we were all shocked and said nothing. We felt impotent. Because we were so
young and had flipped this vehicle over, we then quickly realized that we had not only flipped the golf
cart, but we had flipped it in my front yard. The large moon was in the sky, shining its light right on
our mistake. We all knew that my dad could see us at any second. I knew that if he saw us he would
have a grimace on his face, and if my dad would see us in this position, I would die.
All at once we ran over to one side of the golf cart and started pushing it back up powerfully. Any act
of succor would have been helpful during this time. Once we got it back on all four tires, I looked to
see if there was any damage to the golf cart, thankfully, there was none. We then all got back onto the
golf cart and started to laugh about what had just happened. After we had shakily giggled for a while
we started to talk about what could have happened in that brief moment if we were sitting in different
positions, or if someone had hit their head. If something bad had happened our lives could have
changed. We talked to each other about what we thought had just happened.

Conformity In Stargirl
Stargirl Essay
Conformity is when a person changes him or herself to fit into a group. In order for someone to do
this, he or she usually has to give up one of their personal qualities. It is highly argued over whether
this is a good or a bad thing. One such book called Stargirl, demonstrates both the negative, and
positive side of conformity. In the novel, author Jerry Spinelli suggests that conformity isn t
necessarily a bad thing, many just use it to become a leader. When someone has conformed to fit into
a group they might not realize what they did. Some people conform subconsciously to a person. They
follow without knowing it. In the novel Stargirl, a boy named Wayne Parr was the leader of Mica High

Reflective Essay On Ground Rules Meeting
Reflective Assessment Ground Rules Meeting Wednesday 3 May Our first formal meeting with the
County was for an initial ground rules meeting, which initially went very easily. However, when we
were concluding the meeting the County asked if we could outline our rationale for the changes we
were proposing. Due to several factors, we declined and this caused them to get very frustrated and
ended up storming out of the room. Shortly after, the head spokesperson from the County (Freya)
contacted me asking for a sidebar to explain her team s frustration. During this, we agreed to hold an
extra meeting before any formal negotiations took place where both teams could state their rationale.
Their reasoning behind this meeting was so they could have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Being an extrovert, I don t enjoy silences, especially in situations which are constructed around
talking. As a personal goal for each of the negotiations I wanted to stop talking after I had given my
rationale and then ask them plenty of questions once they gave theirs. As a whole this tactic was
relatively successful, however there were several times where I caught myself rambling on and having
to repeat myself. In an attempt to correct this, rather than repeating the same point, I tried to clarify
their rationale by explaining it back to them from what I had understood. This worked surprisingly
well because it forced them to continuously repeat themselves, normally causing them to get caught
up and slowly give away the interests behind their positions. My greatest strengths of these
negotiations were my ability to ease tensions in the room, when necessary, and the level of preparation
I had done. I was very confident on the issues I was responsible for which allowed me to talk on the
matters as much as possible. Also, due to this level of preparation, especially doing the additional
readings, I could help my other team members on their issues. The additional readings were
quintessential in helping our team develop our strategic approach and got us out of a couple of very

A Brief Note On Malpractice And Medical Malpractice
When I feel healthy, I m happy. Abraham Lincoln once said something in a sense that everyone is
capable of doing wrong either by accidents or on purpose. Not everybody is perfect, after all we are
human. Health care organizations, particularly hospitals, currently face numerous legal issues, several
of which will be examined in this paper. The first issue to be examined is medical malpractice. The
medical malpractice makes up one of the major legal issues encountered by hospitals and health
systems. Showalter (2012) states that with the decline of charitable immunity in the 1970s, healthcare
was one of the areas impacted by personal injury law and was held liable for negligent acts. Today,
malpractice continues to be a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this research, I will explore the ways of malpractice through physician s doctors. Patients are
usually forewarned of risk they go under, so it s a required to trust their doctors or whoever because
they expect the utmost care and minimize the risk. If a surgery goes wrong and the patients are
injured, it s the responsibility of the surgeon, staff or the hospital to take care of it. (McCullough,
Campbell Lane LLP 1998).To really sure it s a malpractice; it undergoes three procedures, breach,
injury and damages. Breach is the surgeon work, which must fell below accepted and expected
standard, breaching the duty of care owed to the patients. Basically, it s the way the surgeon take care
of the patients while under surgery. Injury is the pain the patient suffers after the breaching, which
must have not happen if the patients were properly treated. Last is the damage, which is the injury the
patient sustained, which has a negative impact on that patient, it can be emotionally, physically and
psychologically. Terrible mistakes can happen during surgery. Each year in the U.S. alone, surgical
mistakes result in tens of thousands of innocent surgical patients suffering serious injury, paralysis, or
even death. These mistakes are committed by surgeons, surgical and hospital staff, and other health
care providers. Many causes of surgical errors are sometime inattentive or distracted surgeons

The Holocaust Memories
Adolf Hitler s rise to power grew out of issues left unresolved by the earlier conflict during World War
I. Resentment and harsh terms imposed by the Versailles Treaty only fueled Hitler s revenge, which
would result in the largest blood bath the world has ever come to see. World War II would be
considered the deadliest war in history, murdering millions of civilians. In 1939, Adolf Hitler invaded
Poland resulting in a deadly six year battle until the final allied defeat of both Nazi Germany and
Japan in 1945.

In 1941, Germans started to transport the people they believed were the least useful from the ghettos
to the concentration camps. Many of these people were sick, old and very young. On March 17, 1942,
the first gassings began at the camp of Belzec. From then, five more mass killing centers were built at
camps in Poland. Between 1942 and 1945, Jews were taken to the camps from all over Europe. In
Warsaw ghetto, 300,000 Jews were taken and placed into a camp and at Auschwitz more than 2
million people were murdered. Within the labor camps, there was a large population of Jewish and non
Jewish prisoners who were not only gassed, but thousands of others either died of disease or
starvation. A large proportion of Hungary s Jewish population was taken to Auschwitz, killing as many
as 12,000 Jews every day.
The high amount of killings made this camp impossible to keep a secret. The mass killings that were
occurring could not be kept behind closed doors for too long, eventually the world would find out
what was going on and it would come to an end. By 1945, German leadership was dissolving and
Hitler lost his power. In his last will and political testament, Hitler blamed the war on International
Jewry and its helpers and urged the German leaders and people to follow the strict observance of the

Contributions Of The Song Strange Fruit
Did you know the song Strange Fruit was recorded and performed by an African American woman?
This song was so powerful in exposing the truth of the great suffering of blacks before and during the
civil rights era that is still known and used today. Many other Black women have performed songs
similar to this one, which changed the history of American music in a very unique way. Today s artists
still sample legendary songs that shows the impact that African American women have on the music
industry. The variety of music composed and performed by black women were derived from the
African Diaspora which evolved into spirituals, blues, gospel, and rap. These women s contributions
have paved the way for future artists of different ethnicities and genres.
African Americans have contributed their culture to America in many ways especially with music.
Due to enslavement coming into America, they were then faced with horrific trials and tribulations.
Referring back to the homeland of Africa, Africans have been composing and performing music for
different purposes such as marriages, births, and funerals. They even use music to tell stories and
communicate with one another. However, while transporting over to the new world, Africans were
forced into slavery and brought their musical traditions with them to communicate with one another
which then transitioned into songs of spirituals. Spirituals were birthed in slavery to help the slaves get
through the hard times. African American

Can presidential systems work effectively in deeply divided societies? [Make reference to at least two
cases of your choosing.]
Thesis Statement
Presidentialism is a system of government in which the president is elected both chief executives and
as head of government (Ogelsby Suárez, 1968) and is the main system of democratic government
apart from parliamentary systems. Presidential systems tend to centralise priorities of the government
to stabilise society. Normally, they are classed into separate regions of power; where the executive,
legislative and judicial branches of government are dependent on one another and cannot work
effectively in deeply divided societies. This argument is ruled by the fact that they are 1) divisive,
causing isolation between ethnoreligious groups. Elites are prioritised over minority working class
groups and 2) inherently majoritarian, as only a single position is given causing proportionality to
become impossible. In places such as Latin America and Northern Ireland, we see the ways in which
these theories have proven ineffectiveness. However, presidential systems aim to separate powers in
order to protect citizens rights and deter abuse of power for good governance overall. Through this
presidential systems, however, have quick decisiveness in resolving societal issues. Without effective
separation; executive, legislative and judicial powers,

This also is a reoccurring problem in Korea between the North and South. As seen in the map showing
the similarities of the results of the Korean War and the Vietnam War, we can see the similarity that
following the Cold War the North and South of both countries were split due to the difference in
communism and non communism. The North of both countries followed into communist ways while
the South of both countries remained non communist. This map shows he similarities in how the Cold
War split the country apart. The Vietnam War happened in 1954 because the South were not
communist and the North were communist which was the same situation in Korea. The US sent troops
to Vietnam to assist the South because they too, hated communism. The North Vietnamese utilized
secret tunnels and traps to fight against the south. The War ended in 1973 when both sides split and
still are split today just like Korea. (Document 6) Communism played a part in India foreign policy in
1956. The United Kingdom always had control of India until 1947 when they broke apart. During this
time India decided to pass a foreign policy that stated that India would not be able to align with any
major powers which was unusual because India had close military ties with the Soviet Union, a major
power. Although in the end the policy was not in affect because they broke apart with the Soviet
Union, India hoped to create powerful ties with the US and Europe. In 1956 India s foreign policy was
that they did not want to interfere with any major powers. They did not want to interfere or align them
self to any powers like the US or Soviets even thought they looked to the Soviets for military help and
sought to created ties with the US. Overall, the Cold War affected India by implementing a foreign
policy that restricted them from having anything to do with other powerful countries.

Summary Of Franz Kafka s Metamorphosis
ID # 3 And it was like a confirmation of their new dreams and good intentions when at the end of their
ride, their daughter stood up first and stretched her young body. The last few lines of Franz Kafka s,
Metamorphosis, points out that Gregor is not the only one in the family that undergoes changes of
some kind. There are two other changes that have happened throughout the story. When Gregor turns
into the bug, his family realizes that he can no longer support them. Here it seems to be like Gregor
dying was an answer to their prayers. When it says, And it was like a confirmation of their new
dreams and good intentions, they could now move on with their lives and start over. Since Gregor
dies, his family realizes they would all have to get jobs. This made them feel safe. His family went
from being sad to being very happy with their new life. The other transformation that happened was
how Grete went from a little girl to a woman. When Grete starts to take care of Gregor, she slowly
starts to become more mature. The very last line of the story, Their daughter stood up and stretched
her young body, represents how she has a nice, young body and she is mature enough to find a
husband. She transformed into a woman, just as Gregor transformed into a beetle, and his family into
a happier one.

I saw the glistening sunlight enhanced the silky fabric that cascaded the Earth around us, while the
frigid dew and vigorous winds dampened the air. Despite my pervious exposure to the Hudson River
during our first walking trip, standing in the dock allowed me to absorb the beautiful landscape and
gives me a different experience then looking at maps. I can only imagine what was going through
Harry Hudson s and Giovanni da Verrazzano s mind as they stumbled upon this estuary. The water
completely fascinates people, including myself, and like our assigned class reading Casting into the
Unknown by Marcelo Gleiser, the author alludes to the ocean as a representation of his collective
identity, sense of freedom and mystery. But most importantly, water is a symbol of a portal into the
unknown. After reading the article, I am able to relate it into our FBL activity and our class discussion.
In my opinion, the water in the Huston river, represents a portal into the past. The same breathing
taking sight I saw would ve been similar to that sight in the 1800s. Although the water way has
significantly reduced over time, the Houston river is one of the physical connection that bridged me to

The Problem Of Addiction And Addiction
This ted talk was phenomenal it made me really think of how we react to addicts, addiction issues, and
related topics. Johann Hari, did a great job of explaining the current methods of handling addiction
from many perspectives, such as political and societal. His journey within his own family took him all
over the world to find the answers he wanted to know for himself and I think this was an inspiring
investigation. I believe it is important to investigate as much as possible when you are looking for a
new solution to any issue.
He explained that much of what we think we know about addiction is wrong and gave many examples
of why it is incorrect (Hari, 2015). One specific example that he discussed was if the audience all did
heroin for 3 weeks what would we as a society predict would happen next (e.g. addiction/chemical
hooks leading to dependence/physical need). It is clear the common assumption would be that they
would become addicts after those 3 weeks. He then went on to say what if he got hit by a car and was
given Diamorphine, which is a stronger form of heroin. He would have to use it over a period of time
and would become addicted. Again, we would think that he would become an addict form this strong
medication because as a society this is the common belief of how the addiction process works.
Another example he used was if your grandmother had a hip replacement and was given medication
for it. She would not become an addict, which in my case this did happen and

Mark Antony And Popular Culture
Mark Antony and Popular Culture: Masculinity and the Construction of an Icon by Rachael Kelly, is a
pathbreaking analysis of how Antony (the pop culture icon, hopeless lover and drunkard) differs so
substantially from Antonius (the historical figure, esteemed general and statesman). Kelly successfully
lays out with great quality and depth how the mythology itself performs a deeper socio cultural
function. In order to further examine and engage with this idea, this informative and original study
employs a socio ideological analysis of a series of seven culturally resonating screen texts dating
from, for example, Cleopatra (Cecil B DeMille, 1934) to the television series Rome (HBO, BBC, RAI,
RAI2, 2005 2007). This meticulously ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other important texts that were not examined such as silent films, comedies, animation, and
pornography all of which have told the story of Mark Antony in some way or another at some point

genre conventions of the historical epic, meaningful information about hegemonic masculinity as it is
encoded within these genres is neglected and it does not help that often times, discourses in a
historical epic are embedded within Western gender and identity construction and therefore go unseen
to audiences. However, this exemplar book still greatly contributes to the fields of gender, history and
media by taking gender studies to a new direction by probing the purpose and boundaries of
hegemonic masculinity within Western cultural and political discourse. Students, scholars and fans of
Mark Antony and gender will learn greatly from this monograph and in which the Antonian

The Flying Dutchm Drama Over The Emotional Transparency
The Flying Dutchman seemed to favor epic drama over the emotional transparency, which is rather
ironic considering its central theme of love as redemption. The music certainly didn t lack in
excitement, though, and it seemed almost reminiscent of a film score with its grand, sweeping themes.
I think the distinct characteristic of The Flying Dutchman was its recurring use of certain motifs to
describe or refer to characters. The Dutchman s theme, with its majestic french horn melody, featured
in the score not only when the Dutchman appeared in a scene, but also when other characters
mentioned him. Other recurring motifs were the gentle theme comprised of mainly woodwinds and
strings associated with Senta s love the violent, dramatic motif ... Show more content on

I don t think the vocals ever overshadowed the orchestral music, which is not the case in most operas.
Puccini s Turandot had a markedly different sound from the other two operas. The obvious difference
is that Puccini used pentatonic scales in his composition as opposed to the Western occidental scales in
an effort to emulate traditional Chinese music. Interestingly, the composition didn t feature any actual
Chinese instruments aside from the gong. Puccini seemed to use a lot of percussion in general, and
instruments such as the xylophone and bells featured often. I don t actually think Turandot fits within
the idea of Verismo opera, as I always thought Verismo was supposed to represent a return to real life
and the stories of common people. The opera seemed to reflect the sort of ideals found in Romantic
music, especially Puccini s attempt to evoke a far off, fairy tale like locale with his exotic music.
Of the three operas, Turandot had the most memorable arias, which also seemed like they worked the
best as standalone songs. No part of The Flying Dutchman could have been taken out and been
considered its own separate song, but I do think bits of Turandot could exist as such. If not Romantic
in terms of the musical style, I still think Turandot s music was the most romantic of the three
performances in terms of its emotional qualities. Putting aside the

overall.
Ivins s first proof of an assumption is Let me start this discussion by pointing out that I am not

Credit Card Is A Problem For College Students
Credit card is a major problem for college students in the US because it can easily get out of control.
When a student gets himself into trouble with a credit card because of huge debts it becomes harder to
pay off all the amount of money you owe to the bank. For example if someone get $5,000 of debts and
the credit card carry an average rate of 18% percent and this person only makes the monthly minimum
payment of $100, it would take 8 years and cost nearly $10,000 to pay the card off. Many students
find the lure to buy now and pay later tempting very tempting but it s a bad approach if you want to
successfully manage your credit card. There s a lot of dangers lurking behind that kind of mentality.
College students should be careful with credit cards because it is easy to get into debts that can last a
long time, furthermore college students who have been informed about credit card management
should be able to handle one.
It is really risky for college students to have credit cards and it is really easy for students to obtain one
which makes a risky combination. Credit card companies will target college students because as
students grow and their income become larger, they will become great customers. Even though credit
card companies know that many students with little to no credit history would not be able to get a card
they make them their target anyway because they realize their potential to make money. Many

The war also displaced more than 1 million people in refugee camps in neighboring countries. This
war led to a complete breakdown of law and order in the country. There was not any direct cause that

Have you ever wondered whether or not there was any correlation between gender and college major?
We conducted a survey consisting of 105 people (51 males and 54 females) and of those people,
34.3% (17 males and 19 females) did not think that there was a direct correlation between the two.

all. After proper surveying and thorough analysis of literature, we found that both female and male
students generally have college majors concentrated in certain areas and industries.

supported this social norm because the vast majority of females said that they chose their major

Males:

Japan s economy through companies for products, television, business, and the like. Through this
financial power in advertisements and influence over what can be placed and expressed in media,
there is power over what is considered and thought about within the country. Keerti explains that this
aspect of Japanese life needs to be revised in order to achieve democracy so that all voices are heard

One common aspect across the three personalities is the degradation of the power of the rule by the
elite. All three agree that there is no good democracy that comes from a select group. Not only
because it is the elite in Japan, but it is those in power who are the problem. In Japan, a majority of the
House of Chancellors are passed down through bloodline or company relation. We cannot be certain
that those individuals are trained and knowledgeable in the problems in the political view. However,
this also brings up the concern of public awareness of political issues. Today, according to Ikeda,
Kohno, and Yamada s studies on citizen understanding political concepts between 1960 1990, many
Japanese citizens feel that they had no say in political decision making and that they were not well
educated in the policies and issues being discussed. As we discussed in class, this is a common
problem amongst democracy as a whole, not having a well educated, well informed general public

doctors to prescribe these drugs which may not even truly be necessary for a patient. Whenever a drug
company develops a new product, pharmaceutical representatives meet with physicians to explain the
benefits and risks of the drug and encourage prescribing it for the specific ailment. In regards to FDA
guidelines, the relationship between physicians and pharmaceutical representatives has been closely
examined ( Pharmaceutical Industry ). As an article in the April issue of the New England Journal of
Medicine states about the concern of bribing doctors, this promotion is an ongoing concern, because
several studies have indicated that it has a significant effect on the physician prescribing behavior.

Many argue DTC advertising does not prevent future health problems by warning patients early on
with symptoms; rather it raises awareness to health problems they may not have. Additionally,
highlighting possible solutions in which patients are more likely to consult their physicians in an
interest of taking such medication ( Pharmaceutical Industry ). Direct to consumer advertising has
escalated throughout the past few years and drug marketers in 2014 spent $4.5 billion marketing their
prescription drugs to consumers, up from 3.5 billion in 2012 (Millman, 2015). This is a significant
increase since prescription drugs are now being advertised in every aspect of our daily lives. Drugs
such as Claritin for use of allergies, and Singulair for Asthma that have been transformed from
pedestrian to blockbuster drugs as part of DTC advertising (Lurie). Consumers have many
misconceptions associated with DTC Advertising. According to a survey, 50% believed that DTC
advertisements had to be pre approved by the government and only 43% thought that only completely
safe drugs were allowed to be advertised (Lurie). Our society misinterprets what can be true and what
is false, especially when it comes to DTC advertising. The study shows a major concern and effect on
overmedication because many believe that what is apparent to them, with respect to DTC advertising

Wealth Gap
Wealth Gap There are the rich and poor in every period in human history and everywhere in the world.
Has the disparity between the rich and poor existed since ancient time? How does the disparity
between the rich and poor come out? Has the disparity between the rich and poor became more narrow
or wider? Although some people think that the gap between the rich and poor is more narrow because
of the development of human society, the fact is that the disparity between the rich and poor is gaining
because of the change of the structure of workforce, Matthew Effect in economy, unscientific social
welfare system, unreasonable tax policy and knowledge explosion. Many people think that the rich
poor gap is more narrow today because of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What is welfare? As Bent Greve point out in What is Welfare, the word welfare comes from wel fare,
it is from well in its still familiar sense and fare, primarily understood as a journey or arrival but later
also as a supply of food (Williams 1976, 281), and has historically been related to happiness and
prosperity, where as its current understanding first emerged in the 20th century(51). Modern social
welfare mainly means government redistribute the whole social fortune in order to help the vulnerable
groups by establishing revelant law. So the goal of social welfare is obviously to help the vulnerable
groups which includes the poor. As the opinion in Goal of Social Welfare, the goal of social welfare is
to fulfill the social, health, and recreational requirements of all individuals in a society (Goal). The
social welfare can narrow the rich poor gap by redistributing the social fortune, on the contrary, the
unsound social welfare will not work and even widen the rich poor gap. A character of unsound social
welfare is that it can not redistribute social fortune effectively. For example, if the strength of a
unsound welfare system is not enough, it will not really redistribute whole social fortune. The poor
still can not get enough help from the society. Another character of a unsound social welfare system is
that it can not really change the poor s situations with the limited money. Some countries are
developing countries, the money spend

The Family Of A Family
Introduction
A family is a group of two or more people that are related by blood, marriage (registered), adoption,
step or fostering, and who usually live together in the same household. This includes newly weds
without children, gay partners, couples with dependants, single mums or dads with children, siblings
living together, and many other variations (What is a family, 2013). A family consists of many
variables that work together to form a system. The main functions of a family are to ensure that
children are satisfactorily socialised into norms and values, to provide economics support for other
family members, to satisfy the emotional love and security in a family and to provide a sense of place
and position in the society.
Families underwent significant shifts in structure over the 20th century. During the time of federation,
families often had extended relatives living together. In the years following WW2 nuclear families (A
family unit that includes two married parents of opposite genders and their biological or adopted
children living in the same residence (Melissa Mayntz, 2012) became most common although this is
still the case, diversity in various kinds of family increased during the later parts of the century.
During 2001, more than 14.8 million Australians lived with at least one other family member, between
1986 and 2001 the number of families increased by 19%. While families comprising of couples with
children remain the most prevalent type of family in

Emergency Planning And Community And Emergency Preparedness
Introduction In the recent past, disasters such as the massive fire that erupted from a hotel in Dubai s
Torch tower on the new Year s Eve, earthquakes in countries like India, China and Japan that led to
thousands of deaths and destruction of manufacturing companies, as well as hurricaneshave raised
concern about the safety of workplaces. Some disasters such as floods and winter storms can be
predicted early enough, while others, such as earthquakes, terror attacks and collapse of buildings
have very little time for preparation. Emergency planning involves the process of identifying the
potential hazardous situations that would compromise the safety and security, or make an emergency
situation worse, and trying to minimize such conditions in advance in the attempt to reduce the
severity of the emergency. In the United Kingdom, part one of the Civil Contingencies Act 2004
provides the guidelines for preparedness of organizations. A similar law, known as the Emergency
Planning and Community Right to Know Act (EPCRA) also exists in the United States. This
document will address the roles of an emergency planner in emergency preparedness. Stages Of
Preparedness Cycle Mitigation Mitigation is the most important step of the preparedness process, and
it involves the attempt to prevent hazardous conditions from growing into disasters altogether, or to
minimize the effects of disasters in case they occur (Cahfdisasterprep.com, 2016). The process looks
into the longterm readiness of

Physician Assisted Death Ethical Dilemma
Physician Assisted vs. Natural Death; Ethical Dilemma In our country the premise of physician
assisted death conjures images of suicidal madmen, hell bent on death and mayhem. The reality is,
that could not be farther from the truth. So why is there a stigma on assisting patients with taking their
own life? Others look at this as a dignified means to those suffering a terrible fate. There are many
issues that weight heavy on the difference between physician assisted and vs. natural death. Is it cruel
to let a terminal ill patient who will suffer horrendously until nature take its course? Would it be more
humane to allow a patient to pass peacefully without the suffering or enduring painful end? This report
will examine physician assisted death ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Over the years since the first approval of physician assisted suicide, the opposition has challenged this
ruling, but in stance to find common ground, the Washington State Medical Association created 13
panel physicians and of Life task force with a sole purpose to find that common ground. According to
the article Finding Common Ground, By putting both issues on the table but not insisting they are
causally linked physicians came together to talk over a range of urgent clinical concerns and search for
common ground (Back, Colley, McGough, 1997). The future depends on finding that common ground,
though it will not be an easy path forward, the notion of physician assisted suicide will still present a
challenging fight. The ethical dilemma of this highly controversial subject will continue to split our
approach to the notion of assisted suicide. As we age, we come to terms with our own mortality, how
we choose to leave this world isn t always up us. For those who suffer from a terminal fate, maybe
they should have the choice, and those who understand their current condition can provide them the
dignity they deserve without repercussions. The only way we as a society can move ahead, is to find a

Essay On Bartleby The Scrivener
The story of Bartleby is particularly challenging because author purposefully leaves many empty
spaces for a reader to explore. In Bartleby and the Reader, Norman suggests that the reader,
confronted by Bartleby and implicated with the Lawyer is, in fact, the most important member of the
story. (24) As Fish mentions above, a reader is forced to interpret his or her own when there is no clear
information. Due to this reason, numerous scholars and critics present their own interpretations of
Bartleby. The range of interpretation varies from Christianity, especially asceticism to autism. This
proves how a reader s own understanding and experience determine the result of extracting the
meanings from the text. Norman continues to interpret the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Departing from an author s intention, my action of reading itself is a new set of meanings. Due to my
Christian background, I interpret it as a Christian story. In Bartleby the Scrivener, Melville explicitly
employs Christianity in the story. For example, the lawyer attends a Church and recurrently battles
with his emotion against the teaching of Bible. The lawyer directly quotes 1 John, a new
commandment give I unto you, that ye love one another in order to show his complexity toward
Bartleby s existence (62). Throughout the story, the lawyer consistently displays his confusion by
reflecting on teachings and verses from the Bible. Also the near the resolution of the story, the lawyer
concludes that both Bartleby and he are sons of Adam. (39) According to the Bible, Adam is the first
man of mankind and also the father of all generations who brings sin upon this earth. It is clear that
Melville is purposely referring to a biblical figure in order to emphasize Christianity s influence on the
story. By saying that they are all sons of Adam, the lawyer is making a bond between himself and
Bartleby. The lawyer realizes that they both are merely helpless sinners who cast off to the wilderness

doesn t believes creon and this shows the downfall of their friendship.
Another thing oedipus is naive about

Guatemala Mission Trip
The country was foreign, a first for me. Dilapidation and ruin scattered the horizon as far as one could
see. Guatemala is a place where poverty has a strong grasp on its people. We traveled tirelessly for
hours to reach the poorest of the poor. Upon arrival old, young, and natives of all shapes and sizes
formed receiving lines, eager to welcome us with gifts of smiles and gratitude. It was an experience
that forever changed me. This was the first time I had stepped outside the boundaries of the American
culture into a world where nothing is taken for granted. Each day spent on my mission trip brought a
fresh awareness of gratefulness. Any pre trip reluctance quickly became a vague memory as my
emotions welled within bring a fresh change to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However it was not until my mission in Guatemala that I got a sense of the impact I could potentially
make globally as a dentist. While there, I shadowed my father where he performed dental procedures
on roughly 200 people. Although I was only able to provide supporting efforts for my father, I gained
experience that was invaluable. I carried a portable backpack chair into the villages. The chair was
both solar and electric with basic built in tools. Once the patients were seated, I provided emotional
encouragement through smiles, hugs, and interpreted language. I was rewarded in that every patient
that we treated showed his or her utmost gratitude. Working and observing alongside my father, we
were a team, doing something that was life changing for countless individuals. A fire was ignited
inside of me that will never be extinguished. A fire that is fueled by passion for helping people close to
home as well as those in remote countries where very few are willing to

  • 2. Essay On Cardiac MRI Theory The pixel time profiles in cardiac MRI are extremely organized when we have perfect gating and breath holding. Some penalties for example; temporal Fourier sparsity (to exploit low temporal bandwidth), temporal total variation (to exploit smooth pixel time profiles) or low rank penalties (to exploit the redundancy between the pixel time profiles) can be utilized to make the recovery from under sampled data well posed. However, the compactness of the signal representations will be extensively degraded in the presence of inter frame motion, which can emerge due to breathing or inconsistent gating; because of which, the performance of the above schemes will be extensively compromised. We propose to defeat the above limitation by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The regularization term in Eq. (1) promotes the sparsity of the deformation corrected dataset〖 T〗 _θ.L, instead of L. Here, Φ(u) indicates an arbitrary prior to exploit the redundancy in the data; λ is the corresponding regularization parameter. The primary advantage of the proposed algorithm is that it can be utilized with any spatio temporal priors on the deformation corrected dataset. The particular priors can be chosen relying upon the particular application. The capability of the algorithm to handle arbitrary image priors makes this methodology definitely different from classical motion compensation algorithms that register each frame to a specific fully sampled frame. The deformation field in Eq. (1) is assumed to be parametrically represented in terms of the parameters. For example, Θ is the set of B spline coefficients if a B spline model is used to represent the deformation field as in [24] and [25]. In this case, the spatial smoothness of the deformation map is controlled by the grid spacing of the B spline map. The spatial smoothness requirements can also be explicitly forced using regularization constraints on the deformation field as in [26]. Our approach is closely related to [26]. We suggest to use a variable splitting approach [27], [28] to decouple the original problem in (1) to simpler sub problems. Specifically, we split the deformation from the l_1 norm by introducing an auxiliary variable g. This enables us to reformulate the unconstrained ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Children, Marriage and Love are the three main factors of the two short stories, A Sorrowful Woman by Gail Godwin, and A Secret Sorrow by Karen van der Zee. Two relationships at risk because of children. Neither of them know what to do but try to find solutions to solve their problems. They end up having different outcomes. In both stories both women face a major issue. In Godwin s story the main female character is suffering depression and always feeling sad and tired from being around her child and taking care of him and her husband. However, Faye in van der Zee s story is struggling with her reality of not being able to have children and she s afraid of marrying her boyfriend, who is madly in love with her, because she s afraid of disappointing him. Both women are unsure how to handle their problem and their first instinct is to keep their distance and avoid their issues. Communication also played a huge role in both situations. In A Secret Sorrow Kai wouldn t let Faye just walk away from him without knowing what was wrong and wanted an explanation. That was the main key for their breakthrough. In A Sorrowful Woman the husband would just agree with whatever his wife said and would abide by her commands no matter how much it hurt him. If the husband would ve tried to figure out why she was so sad and sick; things might ve gone differently. In van der Zee s story Kai made Faye s tragedy his tragedy and made sure to let her know they were going through it together. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is an evidence that shows earth temperature increased by 1.4% since late 1800s, which sounds small number but scientist predicted the temperature will rise another 2 to 11.5 degrees F over next 100 years. Global warming is a product of green house effect. Question is, what is greenhouse effect? In common word, the interaction between Earth s atmosphere and incoming radiation from is greenhouse effect. These two people did not get along. Ahab wanted the Israelites to worship Baal, Elijah did not want that seeing that, he is a prophet he wanted the Israelites to worship God. Since Elijah was becoming old he went out to seek out someone who would be able to take over his position he found Elisha. The next part talks about Elisha s success. After that it then goes on to talk about the End of the Omrid Dynasty as well as the end of Israel and Judah. Naaman had been embarrassed of the way he looks due to his Leprosy. He felt embarrassed because he was the army commander of the king and thought that since he had Leprosy people would look at him differently and treat him differently. So, he went to the king of Israel to help with the cure, the king tore his garments to pieces. Naaman went to Elisha, a prophet at the time. Although many of the more unique buildings are small, they display plenty of character through their colours, shape and materials. This type of building was one where if you came across a photo of it, you wouldn t be able to pin point where it came from, meaning it could be anywhere in the world. The last and top favourite building that struck out to me was Centennial Square s City Hall building. Chappie relates to Turing s position because Chappie speaks and acts the same as a human, if it wasn t for his appearance it would be very difficult to differentiate Chappie from a human. This film fully supports Turing because Chappie perfectly represents Strong Artificial Intelligence. As soon as Chappie is created by his inventor, he establishes a mother and father figure for himself. He grows up the same as a child does, starting from scratch and learning by watching and listening to his surroundings. Then, Chappie soon gets his own ideas and opinions the more time goes by. Blood splatter, or bloodstain pattern constructional readings, is a technique that seeks to piece together the incident that caused an individual s bleeding. Understanding blood splatter on a wall or various surfaces can be instrumental in formulating if a crime was committed and if the blood discovered at the crime scene can be used as evidence. This test is portable and may be done at the crime scene. Once tests have determined the presence of blood, more will be completed in the lab to determine if the blood is animal or human. Other tests will determine the DNA, which can point the investigator to specific individuals. The completion of the actual splatter analysis is done by a forensic scientist who establishes the path of the blood and how it spread over the surface in question. The direction of movement can be determined by measuring the shape of the bloodstain on a surface. This will also show the approximate speed at which the blood contacted the surface, assists in distinguishing between the rapid movement of blood (produced by a gunshot, severing of a main artery), or slower movement of blood from a minor cut. The origination of blood can be determined by analyzing the size and location of the blood drops. A strong force of impact will cause the blood to break up into smaller drops. Blood splatter made up of larger drops with a path of smaller drops can show evidence about how the blood got there and where the blood came from. An experienced blood splatter expert relies on their eyes and their training in the final analysis, but will also use other tools such as specialized computer programs which can help in legal cases . • 13. The Agency s Post Revolution Influence Over Romanian Society The impact of the Securitate s legacy on Romanian society continues to be substantial to this day. The reason for this lies in its functions, which were fundamentally pervasive and intrusive, involving countless informants and the widespread surveillance of society against dissent or perceived threats to the regime. Because of its politically preservative function, the Securitate s reputation has become inseparable from Ceausescu s regime. But in order for the impact of this security service to be understood, some of its functions must be explored. This paper will discuss the ways in which the Securitate fulfilled the role of preserving Ceasescu s regime. Once this is done, it will discuss the spirit of the organization through an analysis of the film, QED. Finally, this paper will discuss the agency s post revolution influence over Romanian society. A major source of insight into this organization comes from the defection of Mihai Pacepa. In 1978, the Romanian intelligence agencies experienced one of the worst blows in the history of Soviet satellite states. Mihai Pacepa dealt the blow when he defected to the West. Pacepa was a Deputy head of the DIE [the agency responsible for industrial espionage], and a deputy minister of the Interior (Pg 322), making him a highly placed official of the Romanian security services. Different genres of music have different effects on people and no genre is specific to any culture. There are a variety of people that are affected by various genres of music that you would least expect and it s helping expand the music industry greatly. I believe the most influential genre of music in my opinion is Hip Hop/Rap. Hip Hop/Rap started from block parties in New York City in the late 70 s. MC s paid DJ s to introduce them to crowds and to also to keep the crowds pumped up and entertained. The DJ s came into play after each song and they were the ones to try and get the crowd involved and keep them entertained. The Sugarhill Gang s Rapper s Delight, released in 1979 and Kurtis Blow s The Breaks, released in 1980 opened up the Hip Hop industry and really got things going for Rap. Kurtis Blows song hit top 5 and it also went gold. Hip hop and Rap started as a voice for the African American community but quickly came to represent an entire generation. From these humble beginnings almost 40 years ago, a multi billion dollar industry has grown. However, this musical genre has not come without its challenges. In the 90 s Rap in the United States was strongly divided between East Coast and West Coast Rappers.West Coast came out swinging first when Ice T released a song 6 in the mornin which was considered the first gangsta rap song ... No More Miss America By Robin Morgan Essay Many radical feminist groups such as the New York Radical Women group (NYRF) gathered together as The Women Liberation Movement to protest against the deep rooted conception of a traditional woman in the United States during the Second Wave Feminism (1960s 1990s). The Women Liberation Movement was a demonstration of challenging society s common sense, or hegemony, which was nurtured by the dominant ideology which in this case was a gender hierarchy where men were believed to be superior to women. The primary source No More Miss America by Robin Morgan describes her experiences as a participant of the NYRF protesting against the Miss American Pageant in Atlantic City on September 7th 1968. The NYRF group discussed ten points of how the Miss American Pageant promoted the traditional woman stereotype based on racial beauty standards, submissiveness, and inferiority to men. The NYRF protest critiqued both the representation side of the behavioral expectation of traditional women as well as the structural side of the obstacles that women faced within social institutions such as labor and educational opportunities. With the representative side traditional women promoted by the Miss American Pageant, it reinforced women s submissive and sexist inferiority and racial beauty criteria within the structural side to be approval by men. In order for someone to do this, he or she usually has to give up one of their personal qualities. It is highly argued over whether this is a good or a bad thing. One such book called Stargirl, demonstrates both the negative, and positive side of conformity. In the novel, author Jerry Spinelli suggests that conformity isn t necessarily a bad thing, many just use it to become a leader. When someone has conformed to fit into a group they might not realize what they did. Some people conform subconsciously to a person. They follow without knowing it. Reflective Essay On Ground Rules Meeting Reflective Assessment Ground Rules Meeting Wednesday 3 May Our first formal meeting with the County was for an initial ground rules meeting, which initially went very easily. However, when we were concluding the meeting the County asked if we could outline our rationale for the changes we were proposing. Due to several factors, we declined and this caused them to get very frustrated and ended up storming out of the room. Shortly after, the head spokesperson from the County (Freya) contacted me asking for a sidebar to explain her team s frustration. During this, we agreed to hold an extra meeting before any formal negotiations took place where both teams could state their rationale. Their reasoning behind this meeting was so they could have ... As a whole this tactic was relatively successful, however there were several times where I caught myself rambling on and having to repeat myself. In an attempt to correct this, rather than repeating the same point, I tried to clarify their rationale by explaining it back to them from what I had understood. This worked surprisingly well because it forced them to continuously repeat themselves, normally causing them to get caught up and slowly give away the interests behind their positions. My greatest strengths of these negotiations were my ability to ease tensions in the room, when necessary, and the level of preparation I had done. I was very confident on the issues I was responsible for which allowed me to talk on the matters as much as possible. [Make reference to at least two cases of your choosing.] Thesis Statement Presidentialism is a system of government in which the president is elected both chief executives and as head of government (Ogelsby Suárez, 1968) and is the main system of democratic government apart from parliamentary systems. Presidential systems tend to centralise priorities of the government to stabilise society. Normally, they are classed into separate regions of power; where the executive, legislative and judicial branches of government are dependent on one another and cannot work effectively in deeply divided societies. This argument is ruled by the fact that they are 1) divisive, causing isolation between ethnoreligious groups. Elites are prioritised over minority working class groups and 2) inherently majoritarian, as only a single position is given causing proportionality to become impossible. In places such as Latin America and Northern Ireland, we see the ways in which these theories have proven ineffectiveness. However, presidential systems aim to separate powers in order to protect citizens rights and deter abuse of power for good governance overall. Through this presidential systems, however, have quick decisiveness in resolving societal issues. Without effective separation; executive, legislative and judicial powers, ... The North of both countries followed into communist ways while the South of both countries remained non communist. This map shows he similarities in how the Cold War split the country apart. The Vietnam War happened in 1954 because the South were not communist and the North were communist which was the same situation in Korea. The US sent troops to Vietnam to assist the South because they too, hated communism. The North Vietnamese utilized secret tunnels and traps to fight against the south. The War ended in 1973 when both sides split and still are split today just like Korea. (Document 6) Communism played a part in India foreign policy in 1956. The United Kingdom always had control of India until 1947 when they broke apart. During this time India decided to pass a foreign policy that stated that India would not be able to align with any major powers which was unusual because India had close military ties with the Soviet Union, a major power. Although in the end the policy was not in affect because they broke apart with the Soviet Union, India hoped to create powerful ties with the US and Europe. In 1956 India s foreign policy was that they did not want to interfere with any major powers. They did not want to interfere or align them self to any powers like the US or Soviets even thought they looked to the Soviets for military help and sought to created ties with the US. The last few lines of Franz Kafka s, Metamorphosis, points out that Gregor is not the only one in the family that undergoes changes of some kind. There are two other changes that have happened throughout the story. When Gregor turns into the bug, his family realizes that he can no longer support them. Here it seems to be like Gregor dying was an answer to their prayers. When it says, And it was like a confirmation of their new dreams and good intentions, they could now move on with their lives and start over. Despite my pervious exposure to the Hudson River during our first walking trip, standing in the dock allowed me to absorb the beautiful landscape and gives me a different experience then looking at maps. I can only imagine what was going through Harry Hudson s and Giovanni da Verrazzano s mind as they stumbled upon this estuary. The water completely fascinates people, including myself, and like our assigned class reading Casting into the Unknown by Marcelo Gleiser, the author alludes to the ocean as a representation of his collective identity, sense of freedom and mystery. But most importantly, water is a symbol of a portal into the unknown. After reading the article, I am able to relate it into our FBL activity and our class discussion. In my opinion, the water in the Huston river, represents a portal into the past. The same breathing taking sight I saw would ve been similar to that sight in the 1800s. • 33. The Problem Of Addiction And Addiction This ted talk was phenomenal it made me really think of how we react to addicts, addiction issues, and related topics. Johann Hari, did a great job of explaining the current methods of handling addiction from many perspectives, such as political and societal. His journey within his own family took him all over the world to find the answers he wanted to know for himself and I think this was an inspiring investigation. I believe it is important to investigate as much as possible when you are looking for a new solution to any issue. He explained that much of what we think we know about addiction is wrong and gave many examples of why it is incorrect (Hari, 2015). One specific example that he discussed was if the audience all did heroin for 3 weeks what would we as a society predict would happen next (e.g. addiction/chemical hooks leading to dependence/physical need). It is clear the common assumption would be that they would become addicts after those 3 weeks. He then went on to say what if he got hit by a car and was given Diamorphine, which is a stronger form of heroin. He would have to use it over a period of time and would become addicted. Again, we would think that he would become an addict form this strong medication because as a society this is the common belief of how the addiction process works. Another example he used was if your grandmother had a hip replacement and was given medication for it. She would not become an addict, which in my case this did happen and ... In order to further examine and engage with this idea, this informative and original study employs a socio ideological analysis of a series of seven culturally resonating screen texts dating from, for example, Cleopatra (Cecil B DeMille, 1934) to the television series Rome (HBO, BBC, RAI, RAI2, 2005 2007). Interestingly, the composition didn t feature any actual Chinese instruments aside from the gong. For example if someone get $5,000 of debts and the credit card carry an average rate of 18% percent and this person only makes the monthly minimum payment of $100, it would take 8 years and cost nearly $10,000 to pay the card off. Through this financial power in advertisements and influence over what can be placed and expressed in media, there is power over what is considered and thought about within the country. Keerti explains that this aspect of Japanese life needs to be revised in order to achieve democracy so that all voices are heard equally and no voices are left or censored out. All three agree that there is no good democracy that comes from a select group. Not only because it is the elite in Japan, but it is those in power who are the problem. In Japan, a majority of the House of Chancellors are passed down through bloodline or company relation. We cannot be certain that those individuals are trained and knowledgeable in the problems in the political view. However, this also brings up the concern of public awareness of political issues. Today, according to Ikeda, Kohno, and Yamada s studies on citizen understanding political concepts between 1960 1990, many Japanese citizens feel that they had no say in political decision making and that they were not well educated in the policies and issues being discussed. As we discussed in class, this is a common problem amongst democracy as a whole, not having a well educated, well informed general public voting. Finally, the aspect of religious liberty brought within the political spectrum. Although this contradicts John Locke s beliefs of keeping the politic and religious spheres separate, this unity of religion ties together an ideal form of democracy for all three individuals. Due to my Christian background, I interpret it as a Christian story. In Bartleby the Scrivener, Melville explicitly employs Christianity in the story. For example, the lawyer attends a Church and recurrently battles with his emotion against the teaching of Bible. The lawyer directly quotes 1 John, a new commandment give I unto you, that ye love one another in order to show his complexity toward Bartleby s existence (62). Throughout the story, the lawyer consistently displays his confusion by reflecting on teachings and verses from the Bible. Also the near the resolution of the story, the lawyer concludes that both Bartleby and he are sons of Adam. (39) According to the Bible, Adam is the first man of mankind and also the father of all generations who brings sin upon this earth. It is clear that Melville is purposely referring to a biblical figure in order to emphasize Christianity s influence on the story.
