Essay about Dunlop’s system theory with Fair Work Act 2009
Dunlop s system theory with Fair Work Act 2009 The system theory of John Dunlop is one of the
traditional perspectives on the employment relationship. He trusts that if stakeholders bound

What Are The Similarities Between The Philippines And The Us
There are many similarities and differences between the United States (US) and the Philippines.
The US believes in a free country where everyone has a say in government. A lot of people like to
travel to the US because they offer an abundance of opportunities and jobs for people who want to
live a better life. The US also provides great health care and education. Furthermore, the US offers
numerous tourist attractions and forms of entertainment. While the US has several great attributes,
the Philippines has many similar characteristics, a number of differences, but either way, both
countries are amazing places to live in. The US and the Philippines share a lot of similar traits. They
both share very similar governments. In both governments, there s voting involved, a president,
branches of government and a constitution. These two countries also both have an independence
day. Additionally, both countries have a great deal of different religions that are freely worshipped
in them, such as Islam and Christianity. Both countries also provide great education and health
care. Lastly, these two countries both offer amazing tourism sights, from scenic beaches to theme
parks such as Disneyland.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, while the US is a democracy, the Philippines is a republic. While the president in
the US is present in office for a four year term, the president in the Philippines stays in office for
a six year term. In the Philippines you would spend 98.66% less on health care, use 95.68% less
electricity, and have 0.44% less of a class divide than in the US. Now those are the positives. The
negatives are that in the Philippines you would die 7.08 years sooner, be 2.9 more likely to die in
the infancy stage, and make 91.1% less money than you would in the United

Cogniative Biases And Donald Trump s Effect On The Media
Out of the 11 Cogniative Biases, the 4 that have impacted my life the most through experiences
are Priming Theory, Contrast Principle, Status Quo Bias, and the Loss Aversion Bias. The
Priming Theory nearly effects everything we do, whether it s listening to music, or watching
TV. We are Primed everyday, and one of the most common ways is through watching the news.
During the last election, it s safe to say even when you re not watching the news daily, we still
heard new stories every day about the canidates. As a democrat, I naturally was not Donald
Trumps biggest fan. I find that the Priming Theory plays a bigger role in who we vote for in
elections than I initially thought. We do not have to watch the daily news on TV, or read the
newspaper any more to learn about news. News is all around us, but the number one source
where I read my news is on my phone. I spend a decent amount of time on my phone and I come
across alot of News Articles, when Donald Trump is in the headline I can usually predict it s
something I ll find entertaining or infruiating to read, so 99% of the time I will click on the
article no matter what it s about. I tend to read more liberal based articles, which subconciously
Primes me to not like Donald Trump more through each article I read, because they are mostly
based about the negative things he has done. The Contrast Principle Theory has affected my life in
many different ways but one of the larger ways is through magazine s shifting my

Bodies Decompose Of Forensic Entomology
Forensic entomology is the study of insects for medico legal purposes. There are many ways
insects can be used to help solve a crime, but the primary purpose of forensic entomology is
estimating time since death.Once a person dies his or her body starts to decompose. The
decomposition of a dead body starts with the action of microorganisms such as fungi and bacteria,
followed by the action of a series of insects (arthropods). Bodies decompose slowly or fast
depending on weather conditions, if they have been buried or are exposed to the elements, if there
is presence of insects or if they have a substance in their bodies that prevents their fast
decomposition such as body size and weight, clothing,The dead body goes through constant changes

Notes On The Bond Bikers
Bikers are strange. They are tough, frightening, and sometimes a little crazy, but coming from a
biker, I can tell you: they are crazy in a completely sane way. The bond bikers share is a strong
one. Bikers are brothers, and it does not take much to create this bond. Strangers can become
friends overnight with the sole commonality of riding. Your background, your history, your
beliefs, none of it matters to them. What truly matters to them is whether or not you ride.
Obviously, I do not mean one of those biker gangs who have terrorized the community; I am
referring to anyone who may ride, it could be Mary Sue, who rides her little scooter to Sunday
pottery class or Big John, who rides The Hog across the country among all of us, for inexplicable
reasons, we share a bond. I realize it seems like I have no idea what I am talking about,
considering how little I match the typical Biker persona as a college freshman. Conversely, I can
assure you: I am a biker. Although the only real qualification to be a biker is motorcycle
ownership, there is an unusual coincidence among bikers a characteristic all bikers share.
Something about riding a bike changes you. Bikers possess a certain maturity unlike anything
else. I do not know if it has to do with confronting your own mortality, or the feeling of freedom
you get when escaping the trivialities of life. It could have something to do with the brotherhood
you get from fellow bikers, or if the experience puts everything else

The Overpopulation Of The Ohio Valley
In the United States, about 7.6 million companion animals enter animal shelters every year. The
overpopulation of these animals and the fact that they have no homes leads to about 40% of them
being euthanized (ASPCA). This is a global issue, but the root of it can be found within the local
community at The Humane Societyof the Ohio Valley.
The director of this animal shelter, Kelly Goedel, says that the cause of animal homelessness is
primarily the lack of spaying and neutering along with the lack of commitment that pet owners
have to their companion (Goedel). Spaying and neutering is sometimes avoided by pet owners
because it is an extra expense or they may feel as if it is unnecessary. This challenge leads to an
excess in animal populations without there necessarily being and increase in homes for these
animals. The challenge of overcoming pet overpopulation becomes even more difficult because of a
lack of funding. According to the Humane Society of the Ohio Valley, only about 20 percent of
their funding comes from local government (Goedel). Therefore, they are very reliant on donors and
community funds to help finance their organization. The funding issue circles back to complicate
the process of getting homeless pets spayed and neutered to attempt to solve the root cause of
animal overpopulation.
The basis of our project was to raise funds and awareness for the HSOV. We wanted to reach out to
as many people as we could so we can spread the issue of the shelters.

I Felt The Harsh Dirt Under My Feet
I felt the harsh dirt under my feet. Bobbing my head, I swayed back and forth struggling to avoid
hitting my head on the low branches that filled the dense forest. In the background of my
thoughts, I heard my friends trying to talk to me, asking me, Hey, you gonna jump?
Mmm..hmmm, I replied. Their question didn t matter to me, I wasn t interested in what they
had to say, I was intensely focused on what I was about to do. Anxiously, I went up to the edge
of the cliff, and observed what I would soon be hurdling into. Looking down, saw brown,
scummy water below the dirt cliff that was keeping the distance between me and the water.
Suddenly, I felt hands on my back, and my feet left the dirt. Without thinking, I swung my arms
rapidly back and forth. Rapidly and pathetically I reached around for something to keep me from
plunging into the turbid water. There was no use, I was already descending towards the water at
a very rapid pace. My feet eventually reached the water, after what felt like forever. I had
annihilated the water that used to be as smooth as glass, because of the absence of disturbance it
once had. With the frigid water surrounding my body, chills went up my spine and into my
shoulders. While submerged in the water, I came to the conclusion that my friends and brother
probably left me, to frighten me. Why else would they pull a prank on me and leave me stranded
in the water? While drifting to the bottom of the creek, I realized that as a result of my friends

Book Of Jonah Essay
The purpose of the book of Jonah is to show God s people that His plan is exceedingly
compassionate (God is gracious) and exceedingly certain (God is sovereign). The central theme
of the book of Jonah is the God who loves in freedom. We should desire to understand, accept, and
love God s sovereign grace, rather than oppose it or be resentful of it. The book of Jonahstresses the
freedom and primacy of Godand God s initiative and grace toward humanity. Christians, applying
the theology of Jonah to the person and work of Jesus, could claim that Jesus Christ is the freedom
of God acting in love toward humanity
Major Themes 1. Mercy God s compassion extends even beyond what we would like, even to
those whom we ourselves show no mercy. God s Sovereignty His plan will be carried out and
cannot be avoided. 3. Resentment The book is a vivid portrait of what bitterness and resentment
against other people and against God s plan can do to a person s soul even the soul of God s own
prophet.
The book of Jonah demonstrates the scope of God s mercy as He receives other nations and the
mediatory role Israel was to fulfill in its prophetic role to the nations. This focus is expressed in
the two central themes of the book: the universality of God s mercy (and by implication, the
universality of His judgment) and the mediatory role of Israel. Included in these two themes of
God s freedom and resourcefulness are His undeviating effort to instill mercy, His right and ... Show

God should now kill him. Since the consistent OT association of YHWH s mercy is with life, not
death, Jonah s inference is clearly as mistaken as it could be. So what is happening? And what is to

Alaskan Peas Lab Report
Alaskan Pea Pod Experiment INTRO Paragraph 1: The Alaskan pea (Pisum Sativum) is an
annual plant or a plant that occurs once a year. Another common name is a garden pea. Since
alaskan peas are plants they require water, sunlight, and carbon dioxide to do photosynthesis.
Since Alaskan peas are annual they usually happen around the cool months. Peas are a cool
season vegetable, and do best in a climate where there are two months of cool growing weather,
either spring planting in the northern regions or fall planting in the warmer, southern regions.
(Veggie Harvest).Peas grow up to 3 4 feet tall and are hardy to frost and light freezes. Alaskan
Peas take 8 to 10 days to germinate and 52 days to fully mature. (Veggie Harvest.) Paragraph 2:
Plants need specific conditions to grow. In this experiment plant will be put in hypertonic
solutions. Three out of the six plant will be watered with a salt and water solutions. Watering the
plants in the solution will place them in a hypertonic solutions, making the water leave the cells to

The Pros And Cons Of Liberal Democracy
Since the dawn of human civilization, individuals have been constantly immersed in conflict with
each other. Whether these conflicts stemmed from socio economic inequalities, political disputes,
property rights, religious disagreements, or any other contentious matter, the creation of human
governments has necessarily been to handle, organize, and resolve conflicts between people within
communities in the least destructive manner possible. Governments act as a formal instrument
through which individuals in a society can agree upon shared rules, solve problems, and engage in
cooperative behavior, and it helps avoid the severe repercussions resulting from revolutionary social
upheaval. The purpose of governmentas spelled out in the Preamble of the Constitution is to
establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general
welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity. While countless forms of
government have sprung up over the centuries, only one has been resilient enough and has had the
pervasive influence necessary to stand the test of time: democracy. While there are many different
types of democracies, this paper will focus on liberal democracy specifically. A liberal democracy is
a form of representative democracy that operates under the paradigm of classical liberalism.
According to the Center for Research on Globalization, liberal democracy is defined as:
a system of governance conditioned

My country s populations that I will inform about are Norway, Cuba, and Jamaica. Norway is in
Northern Europe on the western and northern part of the Scandinavian Peninsula. Cuba is a part of
the Caribbean Sea, west of Haiti across the Windward Passage on and south of the Bahamas.
Jamaica is island in the CaribbeanSea, which is the third largest island of the Greater Antilles. These
countries have very diverse cultures and populations due to many factors in each country.
Norway has a population rate is about 1.3%, which means there is growth also known as surplus.
The northern parts of the country are home to two main groups of the population of Sami with a
different language and cultural traditions. The Gypsy population also is a part of the homogeneous
population, which are both smaller populations. In the late twentieth century, the country let
immigrants come in from other countries. The Norwegian people have a population of four million

Evangelical Lutheran state church. Then the other five percent are members of other faiths and
only five percent have no religion. Also, Constitutional monarchy is Norway s government type and

Symptoms And Treatment Of Sepsis
Once the sepsis criteria are met, the diagnosis of sepsis is added to the patient s inpatient
diagnosis, identifying the source of the infection and treatment it of it begins. Physicians, Nurses
Practitioners, and Physicians assistants can order diagnostic studies such as x rays, CT scans,
MRI s and ultrasounds, antibiotics (intravenously), and fluid therapies can all be ordered to help
in treating the sepsis. Sepsis Treatment Sepsis should be to be considered a medical emergency
and treatment should begin the minute a patient presents with symptoms. Treatment options may
begin with applying oxygen to the patient. Providing oxygen to the patient can ensure the body
has enough oxygen in its system to perfuse vital organs. Treating patients with intravenous fluids
can not only hydrate the patient but help to bring up a patient s blood pressure than make be low
due to the sepsis. Intravenous fluids such as normal saline (a crystalloid fluids) are usually the
fluid of choice when treating sepsis. Another group of fluids that may be administered are colloid
solutions. Colloids solutions include albumin and dextran. Albumin can replace lost fluid and help
restore blood volume. Is a plasma volume expander that can assist in treating hypovolemia? When
patients have an unstable or low blood pressure it can lead to shock. A 2006 study showed that the

My Best Experience
1,826 Days I met my best friends five years ago. A lot can happen in five years. There are 1,826
days in five years. That means that over that span of time, the world presents 1,826 fresh starts,
each one containing a new experience. Every experience brings its own array of emotions. You
can learn a lot about someone by the way that they react to new experiences. My friends and I
have had our fair share of new experiences together. We shared our experiences of our first day in
high school together, our first homecoming, having the freedom to drive, our first relationship,
our first heartbreak, family issues, even our first periods. Each one was terrifying and
exhilarating, and each one presented its own set of challenges. What color dress should we get?
Do you think we have enough gas to get there? Should we believe him when he says it will only
hurt a little? Was everything else he said just a lie? Why does dad sleep on the couch now? How
are we going to make it through the day with these cramps? Every one of these questions we had
to answer our selves with nothing but the help of each other. We never found out the right answers,
and to this day we still don t know the right answers. We probably never will. Although there
probably is no right answer to any of the questions that life presents us, searching for the answer has

other that we may have never discovered. Since the

Damnation of a Canyon
The Damnation of a Canyon By Edward Abbey Not many people know of the used to be 150
mile excursion that the Glen Canyon had to offer. Not many people know how to sail a raft
down a river for a week. Not many people know how to interact with nature and the animals that
come with it. We seem to come from a world that is dependent on time and consumed in money.
Edward Abbey is what you would call an extreme environmentalist. He talks about how it was an
environmental disaster to place a dam in which to create Lake Powell, a reservoir formed on the
border of Utah and Arizona. He is one of the few that have actually seen the way Glen Canyon
was before they changed it into a reservoir. Today, that lake is used by over a million

He seems to argue the В‘wheelchair ethos of the wealthy, upper middle class American slob .
Well, excuse the people who were born paralyzed from the waist down, and would like to
experience the forces nature in its natural state of beauty and grace. He seems to generalize the
typical population of people who visit Lake Powell on an unscientific basis, upper middle class
American slobs. So does that mean that a lower class family doesn t have the money to do such
recreational activity? And that we are slobs because we like to view nature in its own
environment? One last point in which should be heard is that, Edward Abbey states that now
that the river is closed up people cannot get a raft, spend about forty dollars, give up 7 10 days,
and rely only on the goodness of fresh catfish just to float down a river. In today s society people
don t have time. We would rather spend the hundreds of dollars to get a nice speedboat, buy real
food, and only take maybe the weekend to enjoy the great outdoors. We enjoy the freshness of a
shower everyday, going to the bathroom with flushable device, eating food with the right bit of
garlic taste, in other words the comfort of home. Even if they did take down the dam and offer
such rafting trips, do you honestly think a person could leave their cell phone at home? In
conclusion, I do think that Edward Abbey made a great

Analysis Of The Tell Tale Heart
Oftentimes, the most truly despicable villains are marked with indifference towards their moral
reprehensibility. In the Penal Colony and The Tell Tale Heart both elucidate the idea that
corruption, darkness, and immorality alike are unperceivable to the one afflicted. However, while
In the Penal Colony suggests that this blind nature is a result of dutiful honor, responsibility, and
hope, The Tell Tale Heart alternatively submits that it is a result of the possibility of fulfillment.
Distinction between both arguments is found in the way setting and atmosphere background the
action. Both stories are vague in describing the general location and time of the action. Kafka,
however, puts forth some effort in detailing the immediate setting in the scene. He establishes the
story within a deep , yet, small , sandy valley, closed in on all sides by barren slopes (Kafka 75).
Kafka also notes, apart from the Officer and the Travelerthere were present the Condemned...and
The Soldier... (Kafka 75). The valley is oxymoronically both deep and small . The uneven and odd
composition highlights the peculiarity and alien quality the colony exudes to the Traveler and
reader. All that stood out in the valley, both literally and figuratively, was what the Officer dubbed,
the apparatus (Kafka 75). The Traveler is made utterly removed from the setting he enters. The
isolation of the Traveler standing before the machine and three strangers perpetuates an atmosphere

Global Warming Is The New Epidemic
Global Warming is the new epidemic that is facing the United States as well as the entire world.
Global Warming is the gradual increase of temperatures around the globe. The gradual rise of the
average temperature of the Earth s atmosphere and also the oceans is believed to be permanently
changing the Earths climate. There is a debate among an abundance of people that and sometimes in
the news, on whether global warmingis real or not. However, scientists and climate experts all
agree that the planet is warming and that could lead to a world wide crisis. Global Warming is
caused by various things. However the main causes is by human activities such as burning of
fossil fuels, land clearing, agriculture, increased volumes of carbon dioxide and greenhouse gases
are believed to be the primary sources of global warming in the past five decades. It has been
recently predicted by global warming scientists from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate that
the average temperatures of the globe could possibly increase between 1.4в„ѓ and 5.8в„ѓ by the
year 2100. This temperature rise can and will possibly affect planet Earth in many different ways.
The effects and changes of global warming are many. Changes include rising sea levels due to

The Conflict Between White People And Black People
The bloodiest Civil War war in the United States history was not cure of everything. After the war,
social problems existed for long years. White people and black people kept fighting. Racism was a
very big problem. White people killed lots of black people for no reason. Even after KKK, white
people kept causing problems and killing black people. One of the examples is the Elaine Race

In this essay, I am going to write about this riot and its details.
The Elaine Riot was one of the biggest conflict between white people and black people in the
United States history. A shooting incident started the riot. It happened at a meeting of the
Progressive Farmers and Household Union of America and it led white people to start a riot
against black people in Elaine town in Phillips County, Arkansas and surrounding areas. Around
200 of black people and 5 white people were killed. However, exact number is not known.
The incident happened in September 30, 1919. Around 100 black sharecropper, who were working

The Importance Of The Mozart Effect
We live in a world where it is important to have multiple skills and be considered smart.
Many people go out of their way to find programs and activities for themselves and their
offspring to learn new things to excel in their daily routines whether it be for their profession or
academics. Mozart Effect, Brain Gym and Jolly phonics are three of many different methods
used to stimulate the brain, promote learning and teach new skills.
Mozart Effect is a term created for studies that are believed by many that simply listening to
Mozart s music can make you smarter. This is because classical music and our spatial reasoning
pathways in our brain are extremely similar (The Telegraph).
A study done in 1988 by Gordon Shaw and Xiodan Leng showed that nerve cells were
connected to other groups of cells and created precise patterns and rhythms. These results were
turned into sounds and they noticed it resembled the tunes of several music styles (Lerch,
Donna). They joined with other researchers and conducted many studies with different types of
music and tapes and noticed the groups listening to Mozart s music would have a 9 point boost
in their IQ for 10 15 minutes (Lerch, Donna). Since this study, many others conducted their own
studies, some finding positive results and others arguing that it is a false theory. To this day The
Mozart Effect still remains up in the air as to whether it works or not.

The Sun Also Rises is a novel by Ernest Hemingway (1926). Hemingway deliberately shaped the
protagonists in The Sun Also Rises as allegorical figures (Bloom, 1985, pp. 107). The novel
symbolizes the impotence felt by the main characters after World War I.
Jake Barnes, the narrator, had a wound from an accident that happened during the war. The injury
damaged his genitalia. As a result, Barnes could no longer make love, but could still feel the desire.
Barnes felt physically less than a man. Barnes made a comment about hating homos . This shows
that Barnes was insecure about his masculinity. For this reason, he later found himself strongly
attracted to the young bullfighter, Pedro Romero, whose manhood stood without women.

Piecing It All Together By Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Kyle McKeehan Ms. Davis English IV 20 February 2015 Piecing It All Together Sir Arthur
Conan Doyle, a failing physician, created an iconic fictional detective named Sherlock Holmes
in 1887 with the novel A Study in Scarlet. Sherlock Holmes is one of the most well known
literary characters of all time and that is why even until this day the character has kept our
attention in pop culture and entertainment. Holmes was praised for his attention to detail when
in fact he may have had Aspergers and in the novel The Hound of the Baskervilles there are
plenty examples of his unparalleled wit as well as his state of the art methods. Doyle was born
on May 22, 1859 to his parents Charles Altamont Doyle and Mary Foley Doyle. They lived in
Edinburgh, Scotland after moving from London in hopes of furthering Charles career and were
a strict Irish Catholic family. His father, Charles, was an architect, but he became a depressed
alcoholic for most of his life and was institutionalized multiple times while Doyle was a child.
His mother, Mary, being the only stable parent he had became a huge part of his life. She was
well educated for the time and would read to Arthur all the time. His favorite books to read as a
child were wild west themed novels and his favorite was The Scalp Hunters written by Thomas
Mayne Reid in 1851. When he was nine his parents sent him to a England to attend a Jesuit prep

Pros And Cons Of Television On TV
According to Juliet Schor, TV has been considered as a promoter of consumerism or TV is a
popular alternative way to costing a lot of spending such as concerts, restaurants, and shopping.
Therefore, the more TV a person watches, the more he/she will spend. In other words, what we
see on TV every day inflates our sense of what s normal or what s not, and what we should be
buying just to look like the lifestyle in TV. Ironically, the lifestyle depicted on TV are far different
from the typically Americans lifestyle, because those characters in the TV are upper middle class
with glamorous clothing or even the rich people. Besides, watching a lot of TV leads to a
significant increase in crimerate. The most important crime is larceny. Because by watching those
products on TV made people who didn t have that want to have and led to steal them. Likewise, by
watching the TV, people have imbedded themselves in the unbearable lifestyle, which is filled with
tennis courts, private planes, swimming pool, private cinema, private gym and separated vacation
homes. By seeing these things, people start to feel the need to spend more than what they should,
and care less about the consequences they re about to face.
The role of luxury good advertisements does create many significant problems. Those ads such as
cars, diamonds, perfume, dresses, and other expensive items have placed a wrong image in people

Startup Americ A Government Initiative
Startup America is a government initiative that is used to inspire and produce entrepreneurship
throughout the country. By holding the belief that innovation is the backbone of this country,
Obama created this campaign in order to create and develop entrepreneurship. As a result, the goal
is trying to achieve sustainable growth and quality jobs in the economy. Overall, Startup America is
a process that believes entrepreneurship is a core American value that allowed for the country to be

future entrepreneurship. When Joseph Schumpeter analyzes this campaign, he would agree with its

Therefore, since entrepreneurs are the messengers and developers of the methods of producing
economic development, Schumpeter would be for Startup America. Overall, Schumpeter would
agree with the philosophy of Startup America, as it allows for entrepreneurs to be more successful,
which in his mind would increase economic development. Next, when Israel Kirzner would
examine Startup America he would approve of its focus on entrepreneurship in America, however,
he would find flaws in the methods that Startup America uses. First, he would like how Startup
America concentrated on promoting entrepreneurship, as he also believes it is directly correlated to
economic development. In Kirzner s article, The Alert and Creative Entrepreneur , he says,
Successful entrepreneurship plays an enormously significant role in driving economic development,
growth, an in the achievement of the prosperous economy (1). Clearly, as stated in his article,
Kirzner understands the significance of successful entrepreneurship and how it can impact the
economy, therefore, he wants to find ways to promote entrepreneurship and increase its success,
which is exactly what Startup America is doing. Although, Kirzner would agree with the philosophy
of Startup America, he would dislike how it prioritizes everything. Instead of prioritizing, Kirzner
would call for clear and equal rules, which would produce equality throughout the economy.

Propagation Methods By Seeds And Vegetative Methods
2.1.5. Propagation Methods Sapota is propagated by seeds and vegetative methods (Rajan and
Markose, 2007). Due to slow growing nature of seedlings vegetative propagation is widely used
at present which include air layering, budding, grafting and rootstocks. In western India, air
layering is a popular method, but it takes longer time and also has high mortality rate. Budding
is practiced in coastal regions of India. Most popular method of vegetative propagation in India
is grafting which is done by two methods viz., soft wood grafting and approach grafting. In
grafting, rootstocks play an important role for rapid multiplication of desirable forms. Due to
slow growing nature of seedling to attain the graftable size, several rootstocks have been used for
grafting namely Rayan or Khirni (Manilkara hexandra), Adam s apple (Madhuca kauki), Mahua
(Madhuca latifolia), Mee tree (Bassia longifolia), star apple (Chrysophyllum cainito) and
Miraculus fruit (Sideroxylon dulicifolium). However, among them, Khirni has been found to be
the best suitable one for sapota. 2.1.6. Flowering and Fruiting From germination, the sapota tree
normally takes five to eight years to bear fruit. Economic yield can be obtained from seventh year
onwards. There are two flowering seasons (October November and February March) and two
harvesting seasons (January February and May June). The sapota trees generally yield fruits twice a
year, though flowering may continue year round. 2.2. Arbuscular

The Role Of The Executive Information Officer
Abstract
With the world of information technology rapidly changing allowing for many opportunities for
organisation to take advantage of, as well as the risks associated with falling behind the
importance of finding the right person to fit the role of the CIO is becoming more critical to the
business success. The CIO is much more than it used to be where previously it was seen merely
as the person to be in charge of the tactical IT infrastructure, to the significant role it plays today
where the CIO is a driving force for innovation and leadership. The CIO is now being seen with a
seat at the management table alongside the other C level executives and is able to assist by
providing strategic vision and direction where information technology plays an increasingly
significant part of the organisation as a whole.
Introduction
The role of the Chief Information Officer, or CIO, has been around for about 30 years (Mann,
Watt Mathews 2012) and over the past few decades has changed significantly and is still
continuing to evolve. Unlike the other C level executives in the business world, the CIO has
historically been left out of the loop, not included, thought about as not as important. This is
because CIO has often thought to be the person in charge of managing IT and is only providing a
service to the organisation (Gaines et al. 2012), however the research conducted indicates this may
no longer be true. In this review we will see where the ever changing role of the CIO has

Why Do People Choose To Be Evil
To Choose to be Evil Every day people makes choices, they can be good or bad. These choices are
what define peoples morals. There is always evil and temptation surrounding mankind. The line
dividing good and evil is more blurred than ever with new temptations coming into play. Even more
now that society is advancing into the future. Mankind chooses to be evil. They are not born that
way, but the choices they make are what defines their morals. Throughout history there have been
cases that have proven the statement people aren t born evil; evil is made. These cases include the
Oklahoma bombing, Columbine High School shooting, and more recently the Boston marathon
bombing. The first event proving the evil of mankind is The Oklahoma City Bombing. This
bombing was a tragedy that happened on April 19,1995. The bombing was caused by Timothy

A Brief Note On Armenia And The Soviet Nation
Like everyone else in my family, I was born in Yerevan, Armenia. My parents decided to move
our family to the United States in 2000 to live with my grandfather on my mom s side. We left
our entire family in Armenia to be able to have a better life in the United States. Armenia was a
soviet nation and when the USSR collapsed, so did most of Armenias economy. People struggled to
make money and life there quickly became very hard. My parents always tell me stories of when
my brother and I were babies and what our familyhad to do to be able to provide food and clothes
for us. There were certain times a day where families got electricity and water. People that didn t
live in the city lives in ore rural areas that were referred to villages since they were
underdeveloped. People in the city lived in apartments. It was very common for people to live
with entire families in a small home or apartment. My parents lived in my dad s family home in
the city with his entire family of twelve people. My parents struggled a lot to be able to keep my
brother and I comfortable through the freezing winters and scorching summers. Life in Armenia
became too hard for them. That s when they decided it was time to make a huge change and
leave everyone we knew behind to move to a foreign nation with a dream of having a better life.
We moved to Los Angeles in 2000 to live with my grandfather. I don t remember much from that
time since I was so young, but I do remember how different everything was.

Those Winter Sundays Figurative Language
In the poem Those Winter Sundays by Robert Hayden, is about a man looking back on his
childhood experience, and relationship with his father. The father of this man was the type of
person to do arduous labor, and be unacknowledged for it. Although the father deserved to not be
acknowledged because he only went through this labor for his obligation and expectations to do so,
not out of love, compassion, nor alacrity of any kind. He was an austere, anodyne, and abusive
father but, his son still believes he could have been a better son by behaving more appropriately,
and giving him at least a time where someone recognized and acknowledged his efforts through
gratitude. The son thought that if he did so, then things between them may have been better.
Through the wording, consonance, strong words, and meaning in the poem Those Winter Days
exemplify the poor relationship between father and son, being bethought by his son as a man
leading to his remorse that he could ve been on better terms with his father.
The word use in this poem is to maximize the tone which came from the poem, including the
meaning behind them as well. In the first stanza the author of the poem used strong adjectives and

that he wasn t thanked for his rigorous labor, because he wasn t doing out of compassion and

The Sexual Revolution Of The 20th Century
When people learn that I practice and preach about chastity, many are taken back. It s not often
that you find a young, teenage girl unashamed in her choice to remain pure. I ve accepted that if I
m going to live a pure lifestyle, I can t expect the world to understand my decision.
And I blame it all on the sexual revolution.
Up to that point in the twentieth century, people were living in a prudish, unhealthy culture that
twisted our human sexuality into something that was looked down upon, as something to be
ashamed of. Repressing one s sexual desires simply does not work; that s not how we were built.

That is impossible in an environment that upholds works like Eve Ensler s The Vagina
Monologues, inviting people to reduce their self image to their anatomy. Likewise, there is no
dignity in a society that encourages touching another person s body but not allowing that person to

Chastity is not about locking ourselves up in a tower and wearing a steel belt all our days; it s
being freed from selfishness and the standards of our culture and growing in our capacity to love
authentically.
Chastity and abstinence are frequently confused with each other. Abstinence is merely abstaining
from all sexual encounters. Abstinence focuses on what you can t do and what you can t have. That
statement contradicts chastity. Chastity focuses and what can have and do have right now; a
lifestyle that brings freedom, respect, peace, joy, romance without regret. Because chastity involved
purity in many cases, some people think in means reverting to that puritan movement of sexual
repression. ON the contrary, it frees lovers up from that selfish attitude of using each other, making
them capable of true love. In fact, the Catholic Catechism states All Christ s faithful are called to

that there is married chastity and unmarried chastity.

Jewish tradition holds the preservation of human life as one of its supreme moral values. It takes
precedence over virtually all other moral values to the degree that only the violation of three
cardinal sins (idolatry, adultery and murder) in limited circumstances can claim precedence over
the imperative to preserve life. Nevertheless, Judaism acutely linked to the reality of the human
condition realizes there are circumstances in which a person might long for death. The Talmud
reports of Rabbi Judah the Prince suffering great pain from an illness and his righteous
maidservant praying for his death as an end to his suffering. At least one commentator cites this
passage as an approbation of praying for the merciful death for one suffering in pain from illness.
Even with this appreciation of our human reality, Jewish Law does not reduce the mandate that we
preserve life, even under the most challenging conditions. While rabbinic authorities, ancient and
modern, debate whether under limited circumstances medical treatments may be withheld from a
suffering person (thus, no longer delaying an inevitable death), it is abundantly clear that one may
not proactively hasten death. At the same time, Jewish Law would endorse the aggressive
palliation of pain to a degree not currently practiced in the medical profession. Rabbinic authorities
place such treatment under the rubric of loving one s neighbor as one s self

The Coward In Act Of Solitude By Joyce Carol Oates
A coward is defined as someone who lacks the courage to take action, a person who is unwilling
to do anything unpleasant. A coward refuses to stand up for what is right or what is good because
they are afraid of the consequences, they are afraid that they themselves will be hindered because
of their actions. In Act of Solitude by Joyce Carol Oates, Chester Jensen exemplifies a man lacking
courage. He is a man unwilling to do the right thing or do anything at all because he is afraid of the

Kidnapping Of Lindbergh Kidnapping
Lindbergh Kidnapping Did you know that the kidnapping of a toddler was once considered the
Crime of the Century? Charles Lindbergh was an aviator well known for his transatlantic flight
in 1927. He and his wife, Anne Morrow Lindbergh, lost the life of their son Charles Lindbergh
Jr. Due to the Lindbergh s baby being taken, the next four weeks witnessed the most massive and
publicized manhunt in American History (Campbell 254). The abduction and death of the young
Lindbergh baby singlehandedly helped make kidnapping a federal crime. On Tuesday March 1st,
1932, an intruder entered the second floor nursery of a newly constructed estate just outside the
Sourland Mountain hamlet of Hopewell and spirited away a 20 month old boy, the son and
namesake of the era s most famous and most revered man, Charles A. Lindbergh (Levy). The
pieces of evidence left at the scene of this crime were a handwritten note demanding $50,000,
muddy footprints, and a homemade wooden ladder. Because the Lindbergh s desperately wanted to
see their child again, on April 2nd, 1932, John Condon had delivered the ransom over the fence of
St. Raymond s Cemetery after Lindbergh agreed to pay the money. The hope that Charles Lindbergh

According to Jan Willem van Prooijen, I propose that these psychological processes are
characterized by the joint influence of at least two complementary factors, namely subjective
uncertainty, and a social concern for others (Prooijen para 4). Later on he stated it was from a

Of the hundreds of named brand clothing that form part of the retail and fashion industry I chose
to compare, for my analysis, Abercrombie Fitch, Forever 21, American Eagle, and H M. These
stores are prominent, well known for selling apparel, shoes, and accessories by the means of
offering sales and promotions to their customers. This is a clever strategy for attracting customers,
allowing them to believe that they bought goods at affordable, convenient prices and not to mention
the prestigious name prescribed to the clothing brands. Using keyhole.co as my main source, I
obtained relevant and valuable information regarding the status of these brands. My intentions
were to compare a period of 14 days, however, due to the limited access that I received from my

this opportunity and mention ahead of time that due to the various and distinctive products that
are sold from these stores, when looking for the spending capacity I decided to focus on shirts

Theme Of Manipulation In Othello
Manipulation is the controlling by artful, unfair, or insidious means especially to one s own
advantage. In the play Othello by William Shakespeare, Iago uses manipulation to procure what he
wants. The story of Othello is about a man named Othello, who married a the virtuous Desdemona.
Othello and Desdemonaare madly in love and have already overcame many obstacles to be
together, much to the dismay of Roderigo. A man who longed for Desdemona, and consistently
chased after her. He was overlooked for a high position in the army and had heard rumors that
Othellohas slept with his wife Emilia. For these crimes, man named Iagois out to destroy Othello s
life. Iago deceives many people and through his subtle actions, kills Othello and... Show more

To be sure that Othello would be the one charged with murder when the time came about, he told
othello to strangle her rather than poison her. With her strangled in her own bed, the killer
would be obvious to discern, unlike poisoning her, which would be more difficult to prove. Iago
knew othello would jump at this idea as well. He knew that this act was one of revenge and the
best way to get said revenge was to kill her where she had betrayed him.
Iago manipulates Roderigo. Othello has told Iago to murder Cassio. Iago then turns to Roderigo
to do his dirty work. He says to Roderigo, If you will watch his going thence, which I will fashion
to fall out between twelve and one, you may take him at your pleasure: I will be near to second
your attempt, and he shall fall between us. Come, stand not amazed at it, but go along with me;
I will show you such a necessity in his death that you shall think yourself bound to put it on him
(4. 2. 235 242). Iago was more than well informed by roderigo himself about how much he was
willing to sacrifice for Desdemona. He even has mentioned killing himself over her. Iago uses
this to his advantage when he implies that to be with Desdemona, Roderigo has to kill Cassio.
Additionally, if Cassio is killed it will only prove himself more veritable in othello s eyes, which is
exactly what he needs at all times to ensure that his plot will go through.
At the very end of it all, Iago was a master

Summary Of Joan Didion s Slouching Towards Bethlehem
Slouching Towards Bethlehem by Joan Didion is not what one would call a feel good read. It is
for all those people who have lost their sense of place or sense of time or sense of self. Didion
opens the book with an epigraph, a W. B. Yeats poem stating, Things fall apart; the center cannot
hold. The narratives are so poetic, they seem to be myths, stories conjured from the potential lack
of excitement in 1960s California. But, alas, the reports are true. It is because, in the news, one
does not hear about the feelings of those a part of the life, the up close and personal truths that
seem absurd but identify almost anyone. Didion hits on universal truths by admitting extremely
personal ones. The meaning is blatantly there throughout the essays, but, because it is all so raw, it
seemed impossible to properly describe the feelings in words.... Show more content on

Porphyria Research Paper
Porphyria is a disease that affects the body s red blood cells mutating them to where the hemes
enzyme is nonexistent (Daempfle, 2016). The hemes job is to accumulate oxygen in the blood
cells, so when it does not store the hemes the porphyrins amass causing issues. These issues or
symptoms manifest as extreme hair development, hunger for blood, photosensitivity, skin abrasions,
receding gum lines, and worst of all it impairs organs (Daempfle, 2016). Due to the body s failure
to produce hemes blood transfusions are required for affected individuals. So, we know what the
disease is and that it is inherited, but how is it inherited?
Although the majority of disease are contained in recessive alleles, porphyria occurs in dominant
alleles as well (Daempfle, 2016). The two forms of this disease are autosomal dominant pattern
(AIP), and autosomal recessive patterns (congenital). The recessive pattern of porphyria may lay
dormant within the carrier, and would require another donor with the recessive patterns before their
offspring could exhibit the symptoms. However, if there are homozygous dominant or
heterozygous alleles possessing porphyria then the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consider the possibility of inbreeding within the relatively small area of Transylvania in the past,
and numerous cases of porphyria would have been possible. This is especially true if the disease
progressed without the knowledge of transfusions and it is likely that an individual could have

my opinion, that the origins of vampire and werewolf tales likely started from a lack of
understanding of porphyria in olden

The Horizon of Possibility in Their Eyes Were Watching God...
In the novel, Their Eyes Were Watching God, Hurston describes the horizon as possibilities and
opportunities. When the story starts out Janie s perception of the horizon changes first from desire
for love to the need of love, and ultimately the feeling of contentment towards love to show Janie
maturing throughout the novel.
Firstly, Janie views the horizon as an opportunity for something great to happen in her life. For
example, in the beginning paragraph in the novel, it illustrates how harboring ships give people
hope for the ships to be carrying cargo that they need the most: [s]hips at a distance have every
man s wish on board. For some they come in with the tide. For others they sail forever on the
horizon, never out of sight, never ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Janie was no longer letting anything control her any longer. She was making her own decisions
now by talking to Jordan and not listening to her grandmother, who told her to respect her husband.
With the results of this, Janie ran from Killicks to marry Joe for numerous years while waiting for
her hunger for love to be filled. However it never was with Joe. After the death of Joe, Janie soon
found Tea Cake, who gave her the love she starved for: after a long time of passive happiness, she
got up and opened the window and let Tea Cake leap forth and mount to the skyon a wind (Hurston
107). Hurston gave Janie Tea Cake to show that she was no longer going to wait around and wait
for love. She was now going to find it herself. Proving that she was no longer the naive girl who sat
under a tree and dreamed all day.
Lastly, at the end of, Their Eyes Were Watching God, Janie s view of the horizon no longer was
viewed as desire and need for love, it was now seen by Janie as satisfaction. Specifically, Janie
returns to her home in Eatonville and tells her best friend Pheoby about her love with Tea Cake,
[s]o Ah m back home agin and Ah m satisfied tuh be heah. Ah done been tuh de horizon and back
and now Ah kin set heah in mah house and live by comparisons (Hurston 191). The feeling of
contentment filled Janie because she was no satisfied with herself and what she had

Clinical care standards (2014) for patients, who experience chest pain, need to be assessed within a

Effects And Effects Of Acid Rain And Its Effects
Acid Rain: its Effect
Acid rain refers to precipitation that is more acidic (having lower pH levels) than average. In more
detail, acid rain is a type of precipitation that has mixtures of wet and dry materials coming from the
atmosphere, which includes more nitric and sulfuric acids (Conserve Energy Future: AcidRain).
Acid rain can also be written as Acid Deposition because the acid rain could come down as other
precipitation, for instance, snow. This became a worldwide problem due to the effects it can have
on land, aquatic ecosystems, buildings, vegetation and more. The acidity of the acid rain will
distort the pH levels and break down elements to harm whatever this type of precipitation touches.
First things first, what is a pH level? The pH level is short for potential hydrogen, and the level
is used to find the acidity of an aqueous solution. The scale goes from zero to fourteen, and seven
being the most neutral level in the scale. Do not think that the drop from seven to six could be
overlooked at. The higher the level (over level 7), it contains more oxygen, and more alkaline it is.
Lower the level (below level 7), it becomes more acidic and contains less oxygen. Do not think
that dropping one level in the pH scale won t make a big difference, ...the pH scale is a
logarithmic measure. This means that every pH change of one is a tenfold change in acid content.
( The Environment: Acid Rain ). Rain, for instance, should be around 5.3 to 6.0 pH level of acidity,

Switchback Changed My Life-Personal Narrative
As we were loading up to leave for Switchback Raceway on February 8th, 2015, I was under the
impression that it was just going to be another typical day dedicated to dirtbikes. Little did I

for having him in my life. After watching him hit the ground after losing control of his dirt bike

Orange Colored Lenses Research Paper
Could orange colored lenses dictate my future? Would they change the way my friends see me?
Would they help me get through high school and into college? These are just a few questions I
found myself struggling with seven years ago. In fourth grade while reading audibly, my teacher
noticed I might have a reading disability. As I skipped lines, mixed up words, and even confused
words as others, my teacher discussed the concern with my parents. Were there eye problems, was
it dyslexiaor a learningdisorder? Being that all of these conditions were checked, with no
conclusive answer, we only knew I was behind on my reading and comprehension skills.
Later, after taking my first bubble test in the 7th grade, a counselor called me into her office.

Comparing Standard of Living and Quality of Life Between...
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is the market value of all final goods and services produced by
factors of production within a country in a given period of time. It can be calculated using either
the income, output, or expenditure method as illustrated on the circular flow of income diagram

Standard of Living, in a purely material dimension is the average amount of GDP per person in
a country (therefore determining access to goods and services). However the term has a much
broader, non material dimension involving issues of quality of life and are therefore much more
difficult to quantify. There is no single measure of SoL, but a range of indicators, which can be

Official GDP, 1988 2000. It illustrates how much of a nations output is reliant on the shadow

Comparing The Work Of Sigmund Freud And A Neo Analytical...
Contrasting Personality Theories:
Analysis of Freud and Karen Horney
Yorkville University
Alanna Sampson Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to provide an analysis of the work of Sigmund Freud and a neo
analytical theorist. This paper will compare the work of Freud and Karen Horney and begins with
an introduction to the study of personality and an identification of the key elements in Freud and
Horney s theories. The paper then moves into an analysis of where Horney and Freud would find
agreement and disagreement. Finally, an analysis of improvements from Freud to neo analytical
theory will be discussed.
Introduction
Personality is a concept that will continue to studied and improved upon. Theories of Sigmund
Freud, Carl G. Jung, Alfred Adler, Karen Horney, Anna Freud, and Heinz Hartmann and several
others have contributed significant ideas to the study of personality and have had impacts on our
current approaches. The purpose of this paper is to compare two sources of the motivations
concerning why people behave the way they do. Sigmund Freud s psychoanalytic approach will be
discussed and compared to the approach of neo analyst Karen Horney. Karen Horney claimed that
psychoanalysis is not the only way to resolve inner conflicts and she offered a uniquely feminist
perspective for her time that disputed the Freudian theory of penis envy.
Key Points of Sigmund Freud s Psychoanalytic Theory
The founder of psychoanalytic theory is Sigmund Freud.

paintings but was always similar for each. I had many challenges this semester while painting.
At first I struggled with color mixing. It was hard for me to find the right pigments to mix in
order to find the exact color that I could visually see on the object. The first painting was a big
trial for me and color mixing. I also struggled with finding the exact shape and size of the object
in the sketching phase. I found myself redoing a lot of my sketching. As I got through these
smaller struggles at the beginning of the semester, I began coming across bigger and harder
struggles to overcome. One of these struggles came in the last set of paintings we did. I found
these paintings to be the most difficult, as they should be. I feel like I could never make my figure
painting look as if it was standing at the right angle that I was seeing it. It took me a long time to
figure out how to position the arms and legs to get an angle that was close enough for the good of
the painting. Secondly, I struggled with the proportions and colors of my nose on

  • 5. Cogniative Biases And Donald Trump s Effect On The Media Out of the 11 Cogniative Biases, the 4 that have impacted my life the most through experiences are Priming Theory, Contrast Principle, Status Quo Bias, and the Loss Aversion Bias. The Priming Theory nearly effects everything we do, whether it s listening to music, or watching TV. We are Primed everyday, and one of the most common ways is through watching the news. During the last election, it s safe to say even when you re not watching the news daily, we still heard new stories every day about the canidates. As a democrat, I naturally was not Donald Trumps biggest fan. I find that the Priming Theory plays a bigger role in who we vote for in elections than I initially thought. We do not have to watch the daily news on TV, or read the newspaper any more to learn about news. News is all around us, but the number one source where I read my news is on my phone. I spend a decent amount of time on my phone and I come across alot of News Articles, when Donald Trump is in the headline I can usually predict it s something I ll find entertaining or infruiating to read, so 99% of the time I will click on the article no matter what it s about. I tend to read more liberal based articles, which subconciously Primes me to not like Donald Trump more through each article I read, because they are mostly based about the negative things he has done. The Contrast Principle Theory has affected my life in many different ways but one of the larger ways is through magazine s shifting my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Notes On The Bond Bikers Bikers are strange. They are tough, frightening, and sometimes a little crazy, but coming from a biker, I can tell you: they are crazy in a completely sane way. The bond bikers share is a strong one. Bikers are brothers, and it does not take much to create this bond. Strangers can become friends overnight with the sole commonality of riding. Your background, your history, your beliefs, none of it matters to them. What truly matters to them is whether or not you ride. Obviously, I do not mean one of those biker gangs who have terrorized the community; I am referring to anyone who may ride, it could be Mary Sue, who rides her little scooter to Sunday pottery class or Big John, who rides The Hog across the country among all of us, for inexplicable reasons, we share a bond. I realize it seems like I have no idea what I am talking about, considering how little I match the typical Biker persona as a college freshman. Conversely, I can assure you: I am a biker. Although the only real qualification to be a biker is motorcycle ownership, there is an unusual coincidence among bikers a characteristic all bikers share. Something about riding a bike changes you. Bikers possess a certain maturity unlike anything else. I do not know if it has to do with confronting your own mortality, or the feeling of freedom you get when escaping the trivialities of life. It could have something to do with the brotherhood you get from fellow bikers, or if the experience puts everything else ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Overpopulation Of The Ohio Valley In the United States, about 7.6 million companion animals enter animal shelters every year. The overpopulation of these animals and the fact that they have no homes leads to about 40% of them being euthanized (ASPCA). This is a global issue, but the root of it can be found within the local community at The Humane Societyof the Ohio Valley. The director of this animal shelter, Kelly Goedel, says that the cause of animal homelessness is primarily the lack of spaying and neutering along with the lack of commitment that pet owners have to their companion (Goedel). Spaying and neutering is sometimes avoided by pet owners because it is an extra expense or they may feel as if it is unnecessary. This challenge leads to an excess in animal populations without there necessarily being and increase in homes for these animals. The challenge of overcoming pet overpopulation becomes even more difficult because of a lack of funding. According to the Humane Society of the Ohio Valley, only about 20 percent of their funding comes from local government (Goedel). Therefore, they are very reliant on donors and community funds to help finance their organization. The funding issue circles back to complicate the process of getting homeless pets spayed and neutered to attempt to solve the root cause of animal overpopulation. The basis of our project was to raise funds and awareness for the HSOV. We wanted to reach out to as many people as we could so we can spread the issue of the shelters. ... • 10. I Felt The Harsh Dirt Under My Feet I felt the harsh dirt under my feet. Bobbing my head, I swayed back and forth struggling to avoid hitting my head on the low branches that filled the dense forest. In the background of my thoughts, I heard my friends trying to talk to me, asking me, Hey, you gonna jump? Mmm..hmmm, I replied. Their question didn t matter to me, I wasn t interested in what they had to say, I was intensely focused on what I was about to do. Anxiously, I went up to the edge of the cliff, and observed what I would soon be hurdling into. Looking down, saw brown, scummy water below the dirt cliff that was keeping the distance between me and the water. Suddenly, I felt hands on my back, and my feet left the dirt. Without thinking, I swung my arms rapidly back and forth. Rapidly and pathetically I reached around for something to keep me from plunging into the turbid water. There was no use, I was already descending towards the water at a very rapid pace. My feet eventually reached the water, after what felt like forever. I had annihilated the water that used to be as smooth as glass, because of the absence of disturbance it once had. With the frigid water surrounding my body, chills went up my spine and into my shoulders. While submerged in the water, I came to the conclusion that my friends and brother probably left me, to frighten me. Why else would they pull a prank on me and leave me stranded in the water? While drifting to the bottom of the creek, I realized that as a result of my friends ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Book Of Jonah Essay The purpose of the book of Jonah is to show God s people that His plan is exceedingly compassionate (God is gracious) and exceedingly certain (God is sovereign). The central theme of the book of Jonah is the God who loves in freedom. We should desire to understand, accept, and love God s sovereign grace, rather than oppose it or be resentful of it. The book of Jonahstresses the freedom and primacy of Godand God s initiative and grace toward humanity. Christians, applying the theology of Jonah to the person and work of Jesus, could claim that Jesus Christ is the freedom of God acting in love toward humanity Major Themes 1. Mercy God s compassion extends even beyond what we would like, even to those whom we ourselves show no mercy. God s Sovereignty His plan will be carried out and cannot be avoided. 3. Resentment The book is a vivid portrait of what bitterness and resentment against other people and against God s plan can do to a person s soul even the soul of God s own prophet. The book of Jonah demonstrates the scope of God s mercy as He receives other nations and the mediatory role Israel was to fulfill in its prophetic role to the nations. This focus is expressed in the two central themes of the book: the universality of God s mercy (and by implication, the universality of His judgment) and the mediatory role of Israel. Included in these two themes of God s freedom and resourcefulness are His undeviating effort to instill mercy, His right and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Is he pleased? • 13. The Pros And Cons Of Liberal Democracy Since the dawn of human civilization, individuals have been constantly immersed in conflict with each other. Whether these conflicts stemmed from socio economic inequalities, political disputes, property rights, religious disagreements, or any other contentious matter, the creation of human governments has necessarily been to handle, organize, and resolve conflicts between people within communities in the least destructive manner possible. Governments act as a formal instrument through which individuals in a society can agree upon shared rules, solve problems, and engage in cooperative behavior, and it helps avoid the severe repercussions resulting from revolutionary social upheaval. The purpose of governmentas spelled out in the Preamble of the Constitution is to establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity. While countless forms of government have sprung up over the centuries, only one has been resilient enough and has had the pervasive influence necessary to stand the test of time: democracy. While there are many different types of democracies, this paper will focus on liberal democracy specifically. A liberal democracy is a form of representative democracy that operates under the paradigm of classical liberalism. That means that over that span of time, the world presents 1,826 fresh starts, each one containing a new experience. Every experience brings its own array of emotions. You can learn a lot about someone by the way that they react to new experiences. My friends and I have had our fair share of new experiences together. We shared our experiences of our first day in high school together, our first homecoming, having the freedom to drive, our first relationship, our first heartbreak, family issues, even our first periods. Each one was terrifying and exhilarating, and each one presented its own set of challenges. What color dress should we get? Do you think we have enough gas to get there? Should we believe him when he says it will only hurt a little? Was everything else he said just a lie? Why does dad sleep on the couch now? How are we going to make it through the day with these cramps? Every one of these questions we had to answer our selves with nothing but the help of each other. We never found out the right answers, and to this day we still don t know the right answers. We probably never will. Not many people know how to sail a raft down a river for a week. Not many people know how to interact with nature and the animals that come with it. We seem to come from a world that is dependent on time and consumed in money. Edward Abbey is what you would call an extreme environmentalist. He talks about how it was an environmental disaster to place a dam in which to create Lake Powell, a reservoir formed on the border of Utah and Arizona. He is one of the few that have actually seen the way Glen Canyon was before they changed it into a reservoir. Today, that lake is used by over a million ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So does that mean that a lower class family doesn t have the money to do such recreational activity? And that we are slobs because we like to view nature in its own environment? One last point in which should be heard is that, Edward Abbey states that now that the river is closed up people cannot get a raft, spend about forty dollars, give up 7 10 days, and rely only on the goodness of fresh catfish just to float down a river. In today s society people don t have time. We would rather spend the hundreds of dollars to get a nice speedboat, buy real food, and only take maybe the weekend to enjoy the great outdoors. We enjoy the freshness of a shower everyday, going to the bathroom with flushable device, eating food with the right bit of garlic taste, in other words the comfort of home. • 19. Analysis Of The Tell Tale Heart Oftentimes, the most truly despicable villains are marked with indifference towards their moral reprehensibility. In the Penal Colony and The Tell Tale Heart both elucidate the idea that corruption, darkness, and immorality alike are unperceivable to the one afflicted. However, while In the Penal Colony suggests that this blind nature is a result of dutiful honor, responsibility, and hope, The Tell Tale Heart alternatively submits that it is a result of the possibility of fulfillment. Distinction between both arguments is found in the way setting and atmosphere background the action. Both stories are vague in describing the general location and time of the action. Kafka, however, puts forth some effort in detailing the immediate setting in the scene. He establishes the story within a deep , yet, small , sandy valley, closed in on all sides by barren slopes (Kafka 75). Kafka also notes, apart from the Officer and the Travelerthere were present the Condemned...and The Soldier... (Kafka 75). The valley is oxymoronically both deep and small . The uneven and odd composition highlights the peculiarity and alien quality the colony exudes to the Traveler and reader. All that stood out in the valley, both literally and figuratively, was what the Officer dubbed, the apparatus (Kafka 75). The Traveler is made utterly removed from the setting he enters. Mozart Effect, Brain Gym and Jolly phonics are three of many different methods used to stimulate the brain, promote learning and teach new skills. A study done in 1988 by Gordon Shaw and Xiodan Leng showed that nerve cells were connected to other groups of cells and created precise patterns and rhythms. These results were turned into sounds and they noticed it resembled the tunes of several music styles (Lerch, Donna). Pros And Cons Of Television On TV According to Juliet Schor, TV has been considered as a promoter of consumerism or TV is a popular alternative way to costing a lot of spending such as concerts, restaurants, and shopping. Therefore, the more TV a person watches, the more he/she will spend. In other words, what we see on TV every day inflates our sense of what s normal or what s not, and what we should be buying just to look like the lifestyle in TV. Ironically, the lifestyle depicted on TV are far different from the typically Americans lifestyle, because those characters in the TV are upper middle class with glamorous clothing or even the rich people. Besides, watching a lot of TV leads to a significant increase in crimerate. The most important crime is larceny. Because by watching those products on TV made people who didn t have that want to have and led to steal them. Likewise, by watching the TV, people have imbedded themselves in the unbearable lifestyle, which is filled with tennis courts, private planes, swimming pool, private cinema, private gym and separated vacation homes. Due to slow growing nature of seedlings vegetative propagation is widely used at present which include air layering, budding, grafting and rootstocks. In western India, air layering is a popular method, but it takes longer time and also has high mortality rate. Budding is practiced in coastal regions of India. Most popular method of vegetative propagation in India is grafting which is done by two methods viz., soft wood grafting and approach grafting. In grafting, rootstocks play an important role for rapid multiplication of desirable forms. Due to slow growing nature of seedling to attain the graftable size, several rootstocks have been used for grafting namely Rayan or Khirni (Manilkara hexandra), Adam s apple (Madhuca kauki), Mahua (Madhuca latifolia), Mee tree (Bassia longifolia), star apple (Chrysophyllum cainito) and Miraculus fruit (Sideroxylon dulicifolium). The Role Of The Executive Information Officer Abstract With the world of information technology rapidly changing allowing for many opportunities for organisation to take advantage of, as well as the risks associated with falling behind the importance of finding the right person to fit the role of the CIO is becoming more critical to the business success. The CIO is much more than it used to be where previously it was seen merely as the person to be in charge of the tactical IT infrastructure, to the significant role it plays today where the CIO is a driving force for innovation and leadership. The CIO is now being seen with a seat at the management table alongside the other C level executives and is able to assist by providing strategic vision and direction where information technology plays an increasingly significant part of the organisation as a whole. Introduction The role of the Chief Information Officer, or CIO, has been around for about 30 years (Mann, Watt Mathews 2012) and over the past few decades has changed significantly and is still continuing to evolve. Unlike the other C level executives in the business world, the CIO has historically been left out of the loop, not included, thought about as not as important. This is because CIO has often thought to be the person in charge of managing IT and is only providing a service to the organisation (Gaines et al. 2012), however the research conducted indicates this may no longer be true. • 33. Those Winter Sundays Figurative Language In the poem Those Winter Sundays by Robert Hayden, is about a man looking back on his childhood experience, and relationship with his father. The father of this man was the type of person to do arduous labor, and be unacknowledged for it. Although the father deserved to not be acknowledged because he only went through this labor for his obligation and expectations to do so, not out of love, compassion, nor alacrity of any kind. He was an austere, anodyne, and abusive father but, his son still believes he could have been a better son by behaving more appropriately, and giving him at least a time where someone recognized and acknowledged his efforts through gratitude. The son thought that if he did so, then things between them may have been better. Through the wording, consonance, strong words, and meaning in the poem Those Winter Days exemplify the poor relationship between father and son, being bethought by his son as a man leading to his remorse that he could ve been on better terms with his father. It s not often that you find a young, teenage girl unashamed in her choice to remain pure. I ve accepted that if I m going to live a pure lifestyle, I can t expect the world to understand my decision. And I blame it all on the sexual revolution. Up to that point in the twentieth century, people were living in a prudish, unhealthy culture that twisted our human sexuality into something that was looked down upon, as something to be ashamed of. Repressing one s sexual desires simply does not work; that s not how we were built. (Remember that whole made from love, created for love thing?) Chastity is not about locking ourselves up in a tower and wearing a steel belt all our days; it s being freed from selfishness and the standards of our culture and growing in our capacity to love authentically. Chastity and abstinence are frequently confused with each other. Abstinence is merely abstaining from all sexual encounters. Abstinence focuses on what you can t do and what you can t have. That statement contradicts chastity. Chastity focuses and what can have and do have right now; a lifestyle that brings freedom, respect, peace, joy, romance without regret. Because chastity involved purity in many cases, some people think in means reverting to that puritan movement of sexual repression. ON the contrary, it frees lovers up from that selfish attitude of using each other, making them capable of true love. Jewish tradition holds the preservation of human life as one of its supreme moral values. It takes precedence over virtually all other moral values to the degree that only the violation of three cardinal sins (idolatry, adultery and murder) in limited circumstances can claim precedence over the imperative to preserve life. Nevertheless, Judaism acutely linked to the reality of the human condition realizes there are circumstances in which a person might long for death. The Talmud reports of Rabbi Judah the Prince suffering great pain from an illness and his righteous maidservant praying for his death as an end to his suffering. At least one commentator cites this passage as an approbation of praying for the merciful death for one suffering in pain from illness. Even with this appreciation of our human reality, Jewish Law does not reduce the mandate that we preserve life, even under the most challenging conditions. While rabbinic authorities, ancient and modern, debate whether under limited circumstances medical treatments may be withheld from a suffering person (thus, no longer delaying an inevitable death), it is abundantly clear that one may not proactively hasten death. At the same time, Jewish Law would endorse the aggressive palliation of pain to a degree not currently practiced in the medical profession. Charles Lindbergh was an aviator well known for his transatlantic flight in 1927. He and his wife, Anne Morrow Lindbergh, lost the life of their son Charles Lindbergh Jr. Due to the Lindbergh s baby being taken, the next four weeks witnessed the most massive and publicized manhunt in American History (Campbell 254). The abduction and death of the young Lindbergh baby singlehandedly helped make kidnapping a federal crime. On Tuesday March 1st, 1932, an intruder entered the second floor nursery of a newly constructed estate just outside the Sourland Mountain hamlet of Hopewell and spirited away a 20 month old boy, the son and namesake of the era s most famous and most revered man, Charles A. Because the Lindbergh s desperately wanted to see their child again, on April 2nd, 1932, John Condon had delivered the ransom over the fence of St. Raymond s Cemetery after Lindbergh agreed to pay the money. The hemes job is to accumulate oxygen in the blood cells, so when it does not store the hemes the porphyrins amass causing issues. In more detail, acid rain is a type of precipitation that has mixtures of wet and dry materials coming from the atmosphere, which includes more nitric and sulfuric acids (Conserve Energy Future: AcidRain). Acid rain can also be written as Acid Deposition because the acid rain could come down as other precipitation, for instance, snow. This became a worldwide problem due to the effects it can have on land, aquatic ecosystems, buildings, vegetation and more. The acidity of the acid rain will distort the pH levels and break down elements to harm whatever this type of precipitation touches. First things first, what is a pH level? The pH level is short for potential hydrogen, and the level is used to find the acidity of an aqueous solution. The scale goes from zero to fourteen, and seven being the most neutral level in the scale. Do not think that the drop from seven to six could be overlooked at. The higher the level (over level 7), it contains more oxygen, and more alkaline it is. Lower the level (below level 7), it becomes more acidic and contains less oxygen. Do not think that dropping one level in the pH scale won t make a big difference, ...the pH scale is a logarithmic measure. This means that every pH change of one is a tenfold change in acid content. I try my best to be strong for him and keep telling myself everything will be okay. We find ourselves again, waiting not so patiently for more news. 4 hours later, surgery is over and we are speaking with his surgeon. Thankfully everything went well, metal screws and rods were put in and he s good as new again; except, not so much. Not following directions during recovery could result in paralyzation, that scares me. I can not worry, though. That s the worst thing I can do. Each day following has a new goal to be completed on the road to recovery. He struggled with some but was doing fairly well. Issues appeared at the same time he was progressing, he had trouble urinating, eating, and taking long, deep breaths to prevent getting pneumonia. After 8 long days he is released to go home. • 54. Orange Colored Lenses Research Paper Could orange colored lenses dictate my future? Would they change the way my friends see me? Would they help me get through high school and into college? These are just a few questions I found myself struggling with seven years ago. In fourth grade while reading audibly, my teacher noticed I might have a reading disability. As I skipped lines, mixed up words, and even confused words as others, my teacher discussed the concern with my parents. Were there eye problems, was it dyslexiaor a learningdisorder? Being that all of these conditions were checked, with no conclusive answer, we only knew I was behind on my reading and comprehension skills. Later, after taking my first bubble test in the 7th grade, a counselor called me into her office. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 55. Comparing Standard of Living and Quality of Life Between... Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is the market value of all final goods and services produced by factors of production within a country in a given period of time. It can be calculated using either the income, output, or expenditure method as illustrated on the circular flow of income diagram below. Standard of Living, in a purely material dimension is the average amount of GDP per person in a country (therefore determining access to goods and services). However the term has a much broader, non material dimension involving issues of quality of life and are therefore much more difficult to quantify. There is no single measure of SoL, but a range of indicators, which can be used together to give a good idea of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is because they do not reflect a contribution to the economy, however they do have a bearing on a population s SoL. GDP measurements also do not include illegal or undeclared transactions, which may increase material SoL referred to as the shadow economy. Examples include housework and DIY as well as goods that are swapped in a barter economy. The graph below shows the size of the shadow economy in different country groups as a percentage of Official GDP, 1988 2000. It illustrates how much of a nations output is reliant on the shadow economy. This is especially true of developing countries. Income distribution in an economy can be illustrated using a Lorenz Curve. In the diagram below 30% of the families in the country have only 15% of the income. The Gini coefficient is an indicator of income equality by measuring the area between the line of absolute equality and the line of actual income distribution (shaded area above). • 57. Comparing The Work Of Sigmund Freud And A Neo Analytical... Contrasting Personality Theories: Analysis of Freud and Karen Horney Yorkville University Alanna Sampson Abstract The purpose of this paper is to provide an analysis of the work of Sigmund Freud and a neo analytical theorist. This paper will compare the work of Freud and Karen Horney and begins with an introduction to the study of personality and an identification of the key elements in Freud and Horney s theories. The paper then moves into an analysis of where Horney and Freud would find agreement and disagreement. Finally, an analysis of improvements from Freud to neo analytical theory will be discussed. Introduction Personality is a concept that will continue to studied and improved upon. Theories of Sigmund Freud, Carl G. Jung, Alfred Adler, Karen Horney, Anna Freud, and Heinz Hartmann and several others have contributed significant ideas to the study of personality and have had impacts on our current approaches. The purpose of this paper is to compare two sources of the motivations concerning why people behave the way they do. Sigmund Freud s psychoanalytic approach will be discussed and compared to the approach of neo analyst Karen Horney. Karen Horney claimed that psychoanalysis is not the only way to resolve inner conflicts and she offered a uniquely feminist perspective for her time that disputed the Freudian theory of penis envy. Key Points of Sigmund Freud s Psychoanalytic Theory The founder of psychoanalytic theory is Sigmund Freud. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 58. Kansas City Hyatt Atrium Collapse Essay Introduction On July 17, 1981 at approximately 7:05 pm, the two suspended walkways of the Kansas City Hyatt atrium collapsed. The collapse killed 113 people and seriously injured another 186. It occurred during a dance when two of the three walkways collapsed. The remaining walkway on the 3rd floor was independently suspended from the atrium whereas the 2nd floor walkway was suspended from the 4th floor walkway which itself was suspended from framing in the atrium roof. A visual representation of the structure prior to collapse is shown in Figure 1 below. Figure 1 During the collapse the 4th floor walkway gave way, eventually resting on top of the 2nd floor walkway at ground level. The structure s collapse was caused by a major design ... From the additional support from the washer the safety factor was most probably above the standard 1.67 safety factor. Create a solution If the rod connection design is not to be changed then the washer should be changed to a fish plate which is essentially a washer far larger than standard. It is commonly used in structures in order to transfer loads from a local area to a far larger area, thus decreasing the likelihood of the structure plastically deforming. Note: in order for the fish plate to work it needs to be of sufficient thickness to be able to transfer the load to the vertical side of the beam. Note: the new design is to prevent the bottom face of the beam from bending and further weakening the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 59. Pursuing A Painting Class As I met with my academic advisor last semester to speak about classes, I was told I still needed an art credit to fulfill my General Education. As I looked through the list I saw classes such as Art History, Intro to Visual Arts, and Painting. I wanted to take an art class that I would find interesting and make me work hard. I chose to sign up for Painting. I thoughtto myself, I painted in high school a lot, I have some background in it, maybe I will like it! In a way, I was right. I learned a lot from this class, I faced challenges, discovered new things, and learned more about myself during this semester s painting class. I believe painting to be a method of creative expression by allowing anyone to uniquely express themselves with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After that I began blocking in piece by piece, starting with a gray color and filling in other colors after that. This part of the process continued until everything was blocked in and the block ins would decrease in size and vary in colors. I would continue observing and add different details as needed until I reached a stopping point. This process went at different speeds for different paintings but was always similar for each. I had many challenges this semester while painting. At first I struggled with color mixing. It was hard for me to find the right pigments to mix in order to find the exact color that I could visually see on the object. The first painting was a big trial for me and color mixing. I also struggled with finding the exact shape and size of the object in the sketching phase. I found myself redoing a lot of my sketching. As I got through these smaller struggles at the beginning of the semester, I began coming across bigger and harder struggles to overcome. One of these struggles came in the last set of paintings we did. I found these paintings to be the most difficult, as they should be. I feel like I could never make my figure painting look as if it was standing at the right angle that I was seeing it. It took me a long time to figure out how to position the arms and legs to get an angle that was close enough for the good of the painting. Secondly, I struggled with the proportions and colors of my nose on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
