How Did Scotland Influence Scottish History
In Scottish history there has been many monarchs that influenced Scottish society, on the political,
economic, religious and cultural scale. Many of which were queens helping, consort, regents or just
direct heirs to the throne they have helped shape Scottish history in many ways. The three main
ones of interest, are Queen Margaret of Scotland, has she shaped and confirmed Scotland s religious
position for Christianityand through her husband s reign kept peace and prosperity through the
kingdom. Secondly, Marie De Guise, as Queen Regent of Scotland tried to maintain peace in
Scotland even though thoughts of rebellion such as protestant thinking and rebellious Scottish

Margaret of Scotland, so known as Margaret de Wessex and Queen Margaret of the Scotland, was
an English princess of the House of Wessex. Margaret was sometimes called В«The Pearl of the
Scotland . Born in exile in Hungary. Margaret and her family returned to England in 1057, but ran
away towards the kingdom of the Scotland after the Norman conquest of England of 1066.
Around 1070 Margaret married Malcolm III of the Scotland, and became Queen of Scotland.
The King always associated his wife with the business of the kingdom and his reign for forty
years was of the happiest: eight children in a very close home and a country managed well in
spite of fights with the Norman invaders. She was a pious woman, and among the numerous acts
of charity, she created a ferry through Firth of Forth for the pilgrims going to the abbey of
Dunfermline, which gave the cities of South Queensferry and North Queensferry their names.
Margaret was the mother of three kings of Scotland and a husband of the queen of England.
According to Saint Marguerite s life, attributed by to Turgot de Durham, she died in Castle of
Edinburgh in 1093, a few days after having received the news of the death of her husband in
battle. In 1250 she was canonized by pope, and her rests were interred in a sanctuary in the abbey of

Social Work Statement Of Interest Essay
Thomas S. (T.S.) Williams
Statement of Interest
Stephen F. Austin State University School of Social Work
Degree Objective: MSW
I would like to bring social justice to individual lives by advocating for equality and ensuring
access to basic resources for the most underserved populations in our communities. I have been
involved in community advocacy with different organizations for most of my adult life, and I
have always believed that if there is a problem work talking about then there also are solutions
worth exploring and implementing. I ve had a long term interest in the field of social work, however
it was in 2008 that I decided this was the field for me. I had the opportunity to volunteer with the
PeaceJam Foundation at a local conference; PeaceJam is an organization that works with 14 Nobel
Peace Laureates to mentor youth, creating young leaders committed to positive change in
themselves, their communities, and the world. The impact that I witnessed on the young
incredible lives was a defining moment; I knew that I was going to pursue a Masters in Social
Work; it feels like a calling rather than the unfulfilling office career I once pursued.
My success as an MSW candidate will be enhanced due to a multitude personal qualities, and life
experiences that center on themes of social equality. I have a history of advocacy and passion for
social justice that will further the social work profession when working with marginalized
communities. I have been deeply involved in

Essay on Student Athletes Should Not Be Paid
Student Athletes Should Not Be Paid In the world of college athletics there are endless topics
discussed daily and most pertain to money. An issue that falls under this category includes the
heated debate involving whether or not student athletes should receive money. Many people say
student athletes should receive compensation according to their specific needs because they spend
so much time earning their scholarship and have no time to work. On the other hand, the stronger
argument is student athletes should not be able to acquire additional funds in order to help aid
them through college. An athlete knows what he or she is involving themselves in before any
money issue is even brought up. Signing a letter of intent shows that... Show more content on

Actions towards paying athletes are being taken and according to the TCU Daily Skiff, There s
a legislation being passed around in the Big 12 states to provide athletes with an extra stipend in
addition to their all expenses paid education. The idea is that these students are producing
truckloads of revenue for the university and should see some of the fruits of their labor.
(Jennings, par. 2) Because athletes aren t paid for producing such money, supporters feel some
of the money made should go towards helping with extra expenses. An average student athlete
has to pay for phone bills, transportation, entertainment, laundry, toiletries and other things. While
the typical college student has the opportunity to work, athletes don t. Some students in college
receive academic full ride scholarships, which are the same as athletic full rides, but they have
time to earn extra money on the side. If these students are receiving a full ride scholarship and
have the opportunity to work then an athlete should be paid a compensation for his or her efforts
on the playing field. On the contrary, there is a reason the NCAA has not passed a law saying
athletes should be paid and numerous reasons support this view. In fact according to NCAA
rules, Section 2, Title V reads, It is a violation of the NCAA rules for athletes to accept money or
gifts while intending to remain eligible. (Way, par. 16) There is a reason for this law and why it
has not changed. Individuals

Personal Narrative On Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde
I admit it. I had become smitten with my esteemed and beloved physics professor who made the
mechanics of matter and energy astoundingly simple and beautiful. As the hours I had spent with
him. Yet, my heart remained wary. He would never be fully available to me. Since, from all
appearances, he and his wife were content.
Meanwhile, Mark and I had grown further apart. His demanding academic curriculum put stress
on him. So, to lessen his anxiety, he smoked marijuana daily. However, to stay alert for class, he
drank cups of coffee, as well. The combination caused his temperament to fluctuate between being
spaced out vs. extreme agitation. He d quarrel with his professors when they refused to let him pass

important that I stay put and make an effort to network. All true, he said. But you deserve a break.
When you come, we ll celebrate your birthday with cake and champagne. My guest house is vacant
and ready for you.
With that, I decided. How can I refuse a man who remembered my birthday? And who has a plan,
and the desire to make me happy? Even so, I wondered had he become a New Age guru and
abandoned his teaching position at the university. Besides, what about his wife, would she welcome
me, as well.
Also, the city of Berkeley was loaded with memories drenched with drama. Through the years, I
had buried them deep inside my psyche. It s true that every street, restaurant, cafГ© or night spot
would be a roadmap to dislodge them.
Even so, I was willing to throw caution to the wind. Since Malcolm and I had been more than
friends. Once, we were two people in love, though, not solely with each other. It was complicated.
Still, I wanted to revisit him again. And, to leave behind L.A. the city where the dreams I dreamed
as a younger woman had dissipated into the hot ethers of the Santa Ana winds perhaps never to

Views of Death and Loss in the Poems of Pablo Neruda and...
Death has inspired poets across time and space, language barriers, and cultures allowing them to
create transcendent works that resonate with many individuals. Two poets whose works
incorporate the theme of death are Dylan Thomas (1914 1953), a Welsh poet and writer, and
Pablo Neruda (1904 1973), a Chilean poet, diplomat, and politician. Thomas s Do Not Go Gentle
Into That Good Night, one of his most famous poems, focuses on Thomas s struggle to come to
terms with his father s death. Neruda s poem, The Dead Woman focuses on the poets resolve to
overcome the loss of the woman he loves. Both Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night and The
Dead Woman demonstrate how each poet views death and how he is able to come to terms with
the loss of a loved one.
Thomas wrote Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night shortly before his father s death. In the
poem, Thomas supplicates his father to fight against his instinct and desire to give in to death
through various appeals. Thomas argues, Old age should burn and rave at close of day (Thomas
2). Through this statement, Thomas maintains that despite one s age, there is a desire to fight
against death, whether because one is afraid to face the inevitable or because one wishes to live
as long as they can. Thomas provides his father with various examples of different types of men,
who despite their differences share a common goal. He describes how wise men who at their end
know dark is right, Good men, the last wave by, crying

Carlsbad Police Report
My experience began when I walked into the Carlsbad Police Station. I filled out a waver to get
permission to have a ride along with a police officer. The officer that I rode along with was
Officer Jonathan Boyce. Officer Boyce brought me to the back of the police state and showed me
all the veteran polices that have served for 20 years and more. Then he showed me where the police
station receives its mail. Afterward he brought me to his appointed police car. He told me that
earlier in the day he arrested a drunken man for disturbing the peace at the Carlsbad Westfield
Mall. I sat down in the passenger seat of the car. He sat at the drivers seat and we drove off. He

A man was reported to not leave a Starbucks in the Carlsbad village and was carrying a knife. So
then Officer Boyce and I drove toward the Starbucks, but by the time we reached the Starbucks
the man was gone. Officer Boyce proceeded to ask the Starbucks cashier questions about what
happened. Then Officer Boyce and I went back into his police car. For the next 1 hour, Officer
Boyce wrote police reports off all the calls he responded to that day. Officer Boyce then got a
call of vandalism in Carlsbad. Officer Boyce then drove to the location where the vandalism
occurred. A car with many gun bullets was parked on the side of the road. Officer Boyce spoke
to the owner of the car and get the entire story of what occurred. Officer Boyce then said that he
would bring me to my house. Officer Boyce drove me to my house and dropped me off. This
experience really changed my view on Carlsbad. I didn t expect Carlsbad to have much crime and
violates. It is an unfortunate aspect of Carlsbad and what goes on in the city. This Ride Along
gave me a broader picture of what the police officers actually do on a daily or nightly basis. For
once I actually viewed the police as normal individuals instead of an

Marketing Strategies Of Bmw Benz
Marketing Strategies:
Whose is better, BMW or Mercedes Benz?
Introduction
In general, vehicles can represent their owner s status. Therefore many people spend their money
on buying a car which indicates their tastes and lifestyle. Car manufacturers, from the cheapest to
the most expensive, use many eye catching marketing strategies to attract customers, especially for
premium car brands. BMW and Mercedes Benz are two of the most well known brands in the world.
Coming from the same origin, Germany, they compete with each other in selling their products.
The purpose of this essay is to identify which company has the better marketing strategies when
comparing between BMW and Mercedes Benz, by analyzing four strategies: product, promotion,
SWOT analysis, and market share. The paper is organized as follows. The second section discusses
the products, and is separated into three parts: the variety of products, car prices, and after sales
service. The third section presents the promotion strategies which will show the companies budgets,
advertising on television, and other distribution channels. The fourth section reports the discussion
of the SWOT analysis for each company along with their current market share. The fifth section
provides the conclusion. The discussions of prices, advertisements on TV, and other distribution
channels refer to examples from Thailand, the United States, the United Kingdom, and China
respectively.

Demographic Transition Theory
Do we live in an overcrowded world? Discuss the demographic transition theories as well as the
theories of Malthus and his critics before coming up with your own informed opinion
Overcrowding seems at this point to be an inevitable and freighting consequence of urbanization
and global population growth. But to answer if the world is overcrowded is highly relative to
whom the question is being asked. To those knowledgeable about the demographic transition
theories will note that the theories have nothing really to do with answering if the world is
overcrowded. They could use the mortality and fertility rate charts to see what countries are
where on the scales but there is not anywhere to label when the world is overcrowded. The
theories can definitely point to trends in fertility and mortality but it would hard to be able to
conclude anything about an overcrowded world. Since death and birth go hand in hand there
always seems to be somewhat of a balance. If the question was asked to the then alive Thomas
Malthus he would probably answer yes to the world being overcrowded. He would most likely
share his theory on exponential population growth where populations grown increasingly
overtime always more than the previous year. Wherein populace is growing but the supply of
food and other necessities are now yielding at the same rate. He was able to notice that high
volume populace change was apparent and could be debilitating to societies and the globe.

Why I Attend A University

God has given me a great passion to help these young adults grow into becoming healthy mature
ministers. Besides training young adults, I feel a calling to come alongside current pastors,
helping them further their education if that is their desire. Another passion that God has placed
on my heart is to help victims of human trafficking. I pray that one day I will be able to work in
an organization like Project Rescue or A21. I would love to help victims build a biblical
foundation so they can start their emotional healing. I strongly believe that God equips the

it is our responsibility to do so. Levels of Reading Upon reading How to read a book, I was

Dover Bitch Essay
When one reads the titles, it is pretty apparent that these two poems are related by some means.
Ironically, they were not written by the poet. Dover Beach is a slightly sappy poem written in a
depressing matter. A man pours out his heart and feelings to his companion on the beach. Sappy
and depressing do not seem to fit together very well, but that is the best terminology to describe
it. As for Dover Bitch , it is mocking the poem Dover Beach. In this poem, the writer is claiming
the female from Dover Beach would rather get physical that simply listen to her date ramble on.

on the outlook of life. In the poem Dover Beach by Matthew Arnold, the... Show more content on

Dover Bitch was written by an apparently sarcastic, humorous man named Anthony Hecht. In
the beginning of this poem, he wants to make sure the reader knows exactly who is mocking by
calling Matthew Arnold by name. While Dover Beach was written with beautiful, meaningful
words Dover Bitch was written in a sort of conversational tone. He mocks how the speaker in
Arnold s poem rambles on and the girl has to listen to his garbage. He claims the girl was simply
thinking of the notion of what his whiskers would feel like/on the back of her neck (lines 10 11).
Hecht states that he had been intimate with this woman and it was simply just a once in a while
thing. Whenever he came to town, he would give her a present, sleep with her, and then move on
with his life. It could be a month or a year before this woman heard from him again. Sadly, the
woman went along with it. Whenever he called, she came running. His view on life is less
emotional than that of Matthew Arnold. Arnold feels as though looking as waves can bring on
emotions while Hecht can have relations with a woman and not feel a spark of

After nearly two years of sluggish economic growth, the pace of economic expansion has finally
began to accelerate. Today the U.S. economy is strong and getting stronger. After experiencing a
series of significant shocks during the previous years recession, dot com collapse and stock market
meltdown, terrorist attacks, and corporate wrongdoing, the American economy has managed to

One explanation for this deceleration is due in part to the increased number of imports the United
States had during the second quarter.
To comprehend GDP as an indicator of economic activity, we must fully understand each of its
four sub categories. Consumption is the spending by households on goods and services, with the
exception of purchases of new housing. Personal consumption expenditures are broken down into
durable goods, nondurable goods, and services. The Bureau of Labor Statistics states that personal
consumer expenditures have been increasing every quarter from August of 2003 to August of 2004
with a gradual deceleration. The percent change from August 2003 to August 2004 on all item
expenditures is 2.1%. The majority of these expenditures are found in services. According to The
Heritage Foundation, Policy Research and Analysis, the workforce is transitioning. Already over
80 percent of United States workers are in the service industry, mostly with high skills and pay.
Manufacturing jobs have declined from 17 million in the late 1990s to 14.4 million jobs today.
Knowing that our economy is putting continual emphasis on service business, it easy to understand
why this area of the economy is where most of Americans money is spent. Nondurable goods follow
close behind; as they seem to contain the necessities and fundamental expenditures every household
endures. These include food,

Traits And A Golden Retriever
This essay is about how traits are passed and how traits are inherited. Traits are features and
characteristics that we can see. Everyone has traits and you get them by inheriting them. Also
included in this essay is the breeding of a German Shepard and a Golden Retriever. Everyone has
traits, but how do we get them? Your genotypes determine your phenotype (or trait). To determine
your genotype, you use the alleles given from each parent. If an alleleis dominant then it is
expressed by a capital letter, and if it is a recessive allele then the letter is lowercase. Your
genotype can be expressed in different ways, Homozygous Dominant (EE), Heterozygous (Ee), and
Homozygous Dominant (ee). In order for you to know the probability of the offspring getting a
certain trait is through Punnett Squares and Pedigrees. In a Punnett square you put one genotype on

The Legacy Of The Baltimore Bullet Essay
Calvin Nguyen Capps English IV AP 5th 11 Dec 2016 The Legacy of the Baltimore Bullet
Known as the Baltimore Bullet or Flying Fish (Olympics), Michael Phelps is also known as an
Olympian, writer, philanthropist, and one who has had legal problems; identities that come
together in an athlete that has left a legacy that may never be surpassed. Showing dominance
extending from the beginning of his career to the very end, he is the greatest athlete that the
swimming world, and perhaps even the entire world of sports has ever seen. Phelps s
unprecedented level of achievement not even rivaled by Leonidas of Rhodes in the Olympics
and records in the sport of swimming have created history, his passion for the sport has
contributed back to the community, while his struggles have shown society that problems can be
overcome in order to allow greatness to be achieved. Phelps s struggles began in his childhood.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Phelps did not begin his swimming career until the age of 7
(Bargeron Tidd). Initially scared of the pool, Phelps refused to put his head into the water. Along
with that he was diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, at 9 years old (Olympics),
around the time that his parents got divorced. With the mental challenges of the disorder, Phelps
needed an outlet for his physical restlessness. Now a vent to his seemingly limitless energy, the
change led Phelps to make drastic improvements in his swimming. To complete the transformation,

The Global Issue Of The Industrial Revolution
The industrial revolution known for many things including the peak point where human population
hit one billion. It took humans 130 years to hit two billion and as time moved on it took less and
less time, the fifth billion only took 13 years to accomplish (Worldometers). It may have started as
a great thing in the industrial revolution but now in the twenty first century population has become
a global issue. A global issue can be identified because it is not only affecting the whole humanrace,
but also global in the sense that it affects the whole world. War and conflict, poverty, high cost of
living, degradation of the environment, depletion of natural resources, and unemployment all
caused by the ever growing human population. William Halal and Michael Marien identified,

overpopulation. Over population is when the number of living humans is compared to the available
resources, such as water and the essentials they need to survive. Imagine in some extraordinary
event the world loses a quarter of its population, many of these trends mentioned and those

The Cultural Impact Of Globalization
Global Progress In an age in which people, business, and organizations can communicate even
while residing on different sides of the world, globalization has played a major role in the
progress of today s global society. As globalization continues to extend its reach to different parts of
the world in different ways, it is clear that it has left a positive mark on the world both culturally and
economically while improving international relationships. One of the most prominent ways in
which globalizationhas improved society is through cultural integration. As globalization
increases, the spread of works, ideas, and beliefs from different cultures extends its reach to new
parts of the world. As more people from different areas are able to become familiar with each
others beliefs and cultures, people around the world become more accepting of integration.
Therefore, as people migrate to different countries they are better able to become part of society
without having to feel ostracized. Simultaneously, international relationships between different
countries become stronger as there is more interaction between them. For example, when
European traveler Marco Polo visited China, he brought back Chinese artifacts and wrote a book
to explain to fellow Europeans the beliefs and ideas that the people from this foreign country had.
As a result, as the people of these two areas of the world became more familiar with each other,
and there was an increase in both trade and migration

Military Respect Research Paper
Respect, being the third Army Value, is a central pillar to the beliefs and principles upheld by the
United States Army. These beliefs and principles are representative of this organization and are
integral to the behaviors between superior and subordinate, team member to team member, or
officer to Noncommissioned Officer, and are central to customs and courtesies that we must all
adhere to. Respectand courtesies that travel both up and down the chain are not only critical, but
highly revered and regarded by all. Respect is expected from the lower ranks upward, even if the
person demanding the respect is unworthy of that respect. Something I personally have heard that I
hold close to my heart is that You don t have to respect the person, but you must respect the rank.
Thusly, this concept is interwoven into the mindset of the average soldier. Respect of a... Show

Structure provides order and the necessary balance within an organization or ensure duties and

accomplished by all to the best of their abilities. Respect ensures goals and tasks are executed
and met. Respect is reflective also upon one s own respect and discipline for themselves and
others. For example, saluting an officer is a custom and courtesy that hinges on respect. If you
do not care about the military, and are rude or disrespectful, and just walk by an officer without
rendering a salute, you will most likely get a couple dirty looks and a immediate corrective
training from said officer. This same principle applies to a greeting of the day to a senior
Noncommissioned Officer. A proper good morning to the First Sergeant is fairly respectful. These
examples further solidify the idea that without the basic respect for authority, the military would
lack structure, rank, and authority. This lack of respect would and can negatively unit

A Brief Note On The Physician Assisted Suicide

Throughout many years, Individuals have struggled with the thoughts of physically harming
themselves, which usually leads to suicide. Depression and anxiety are a disease that takes over

individuals believe if they take their own life, then they will not suffer anymore. Recently in some

According to scripture, What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost
[which is] in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own (1 Corinthians 6:19 20, King
James Version). Does this scripture really mean not to physically kill yourself, or does this
scripture mean not to use your body as a canvas for tattoos or piercings because your body
should represent the life God has provided for you when cleansed by his salvation. In every
individuals daily life we are taught that all sin is equal, so how can one differ on judgment day
when standing in front of the Lord. Unfortunately, the Ten Commandments explain, Thou Shalt
Not Kill. Does that mean you shall not kill another individual, does that mean you shall not kill
yourself, or does that mean you shall not kill anyone? No one knows the exact meaning of this
verse except the followers of Jesus and Jesus himself. So, I am not saying that the bible does not
tell us we shall not kill ourselves, I am saying how do we know that this is true without asking
Jesus himself, and why not let an individual enjoy their last few moments with their family
knowing the day they must pass away. However, An individual with a short time to live has the
physical and mental right to decide, which path they are going to take: planning their own death or
unknowingly waiting their time to die. Having this ability to decide when their own life will come

The Role Of Independent And Non Medical Prescribing
The Role of Independent and Non Medical Prescribing: Prescribing is defined and the process
involving information gathering, clinical decision making, communication and evaluation which
then results in the initiation, continuation or cessation of medication/s. Independent prescribing
means that the prescriber takes responsibility for the clinical assessment, diagnosis and
management of patients. This included prescribing medications where necessary. Independent

The following is a time line of the UK history of non medical prescribers and the factors
influencing its development. Prescribing in Australia is authorised by individual state and
territory legislations that deal with drugs and poisons. These legislations allow various levels of
health professionals to administer/supply medications under an assortment of protocols or direct
order agreements. Any prescriber must also follow processes that have been determined by their
professional bodies, which is legally binding in Australia. Legally, prescribers must also maintain
all confidentiality and privacy clauses. Also, the patient s health and wellbeing should be the
focus of all decision making so that no harm should come to the patient. The knowledge and skills
obtained from the required training should be used to optimise patient s health. Ethics of
prescribing in Australia is a philosophy of clinical practice that follows the following four
principles the form the main framework for ethical decision making; 1.Beneficence a.This is the
duty by the health professional to do good. This usually overlaps with efficacy, which is outlined
by evidence based practice. 2.Non maleficence a.This refers to the health professional s obligations

Political Theories And Ideology Of Liberal Democracy Essay
Many challenges put a stress on Modern Democracy because of the political theories and
ideology our government holds, the current politicians taking office, inequalities throughout
social classes and economies, and the opinions of We the People . Nearly every country claims to
be some form of a democracy, but not all these self proclaimed democracies allow for free politics,
good government, and rule of law (Crick, 2002). Liberal democracyhas begun to win over its
royalist, fascist, and collectivist rivals over the course of the last few centuries, and the freedom
to vote has been steadily expanded to those who were without it. But the liberal democracies of the
world do have problems. Democracy is only as good as its citizens, and the quality of those citizens
demands certain constant factors (7 Concerns, 2012).
Gerrymandering is the process in which political boundaries are redraw or changed in order to
benefit one political party over another one; if one party has power of the state legislature, then they
can change political boundaries to maximize their chances of winning congressional districts to win
an election. By doing this, unfair and skewed results are produced because redrawn lines can be
made to help one party win over the other, since constituents for the losing party will be divided
between districts (Tormsen, 2015). This will also allow the winning party to win more electoral
votes and seats (Tormsen, 2015). This practice is uniquely American and can be

Early Colonists observed the Seneca and Cornplanter Indians collecting it by spreading blankets
on the rainbow colored surface of oil rich streams, they then wrung the oil out the blankets into
earthen bowls. They used it for liniment, medicine and to mix with their war paint for shiny,
waterproof make up. 17th century British and French explorers in western Pennsylvania and New
York sent back reports about oil pools that looked like water and burned like brandy. Settlers in
western Pennsylvania kept a supply of Seneca oil, that they collected whenever they found it, and
used it to stimulate their joints and those of their horses. It was used by farmers in hot weather to
repel blowflies, which couldn t tolerate the smell of the greasy substance (Dolson 1). Over time
some inquisitive men began searching for ways to make money off this natural occurring petroleum.
Oil, because of its many uses became a profitable product. Ebenezer Brewer a lumber mill owner
skimmed up five gallons from the seepage on his land bordering Oil Creek, and sent it to his son
Francis, a young doctor in northern Vermont. The greasy stuff was exactly the kind of unpleasant
medicine Vermonters were crazy about. Dr. Brewer took a flask of the crude oil to his old
professor at Dartmouth, Dr. Dixi Crosby, who examined it and agreed it might be a pretty good
thing. George Bissell listened to Crosby talk about the interesting contents of the flask, along with

family so he takes the easy way out to make it seem like he is successful. Both characters believe
that in order to be successful one must project an image of success at all times (Mendes). Lester

from an attempt to assimilate into the life of the new system. Sometimes language barrier can lead
to a difficulty in assimilating into the new culture. Sometimes, the difficulty arises from the cultural

In most cases, the young are not even remotely interested in these facets. This results in a deep

The Doctrine Of The Trinity And The Nicene Creed And...
Beginning around the fourth century, Christian councils were forced to respond to the heresies of
Arianism and Sabellianism, whose views on the Trinity were unacceptable to many Christians. As a
response, the councils composed creeds such as the Nicene Creed and Athanasian Creed. In current
times, philosophers Jeff Brower and Michael Rea try to explain the doctrine of the Trinitythrough
analogies. I will discuss the two heresies and creeds, as well as the analogies presented. Arianism
denies the true divinity of Christ as seen by many Christians. It does not entirely deny the Son s
divinity, but it views the Son as less divine than the Father. Specifically, Christ came into existence
through the Father. To an Arian, God was unoriginate with no beginning, while the Son was
originate of the Father (Barry, 1907). At one point, the Son did not exist, meaning the Son is
distinct from the Father. The Son is subordinate to the Father, and for this reason, Arianism falls
under subordinationism (Brower Rea, 2005). Sabellianism takes a different approach towards the
Trinity. Rather than describing the Son as lesser than the Father, Sabellianism sees the Father,
Son, and Holy Spirit as different manifestations of God. For example, God takes the form of the
Father with regards to creation, the Son with regards to redemption, and the Holy spirit with
regards to the distribution of grace (Brower Rea, 2005). Sabellianism is a form a modalism
because it sees the Father, Son, and

We understand that when his eyes are bright blue, Paul is very happy and proud of the winnings he
has made at the horse races. Lawrence tells of Paul s closely set eyes that have a blue glare (970)

Related Literature Of Blindness
Chapter 2: Review of Related Literature
Blindness may be perceived differently among individuals. It can be a blessing or a curse. It
may be physical or psychological. It can be a metaphor to show the passion that is proportionate
to the loss or gain, happiness or misery, peace or war. When our judgment is clouded by too much
passion or excessive love, there is a tendency to be blinded to the limitless pitfalls (Bady, 2016).
Blindness in a figurative sense can be seen as a split between ignorance and concealment.
Literarily, it can be seen in the following phrases Blind ignorance (lacking knowledge), blind
stupor (lacking awareness), blind prejudice (lacking a critical or questioning attitude), blind taste
test (tasting without looking), blind presentation (lacking preparation or information) (Paterson,
2014). Blindness not only means the lack of vision but also the lack of intellectual perception. In

many ways it was rehearsed. I watched 3 versions of this soliloquy, Kenneth Branagh s version,
Ethan Hawke s version and, Mel Gibson s version. They were all very different from each other and
unique in their own ways. I believe that Mel Gibson s performance of To be, or not to be was the
most effective and I will explain why.
Starting with Kenneth Branagh s version, his version was simple and straight to the point.
Branagh s version was less self reflective and more like he is talking to his hidden audience
(Claudius and Polonius). There wasn t much emotion to his soliloquy and it sounded much
rehearsed instead of laid back. But he does ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this version, they tried to make it a more medieval vibe. Gibson is dressed almost like a knight
Gibson is alone in a tomb reflecting on his thoughts. The tomb has low lighting, it s dark and he
is alone in that tomb. It was also very quiet. His voice echoes in the whole tomb so there was no
music needed because his voice is dramatic enough. In the tomb, there are a lot of bones and
crypt, and that can symbolize death later on in the play. In his soliloquy, it was at a flat (eye
level) angle with multiple camera shots. First, it was a long shot to show the audience where
Gibson was. Then, it was mostly close up shots but still shows Gibson pacing around the tomb.
That makes the audience know get a sense of his facial expressions. They also track him
sometimes when Gibson s walking around the tomb but usually lets the camera stay in one
place to show his whole body. While filming this, there was many short breaks to show the bones
and crypt as Gibson is talking to them they were cuts. Also at the end of his soliloquy, it went
faded into the next scene. This is my favorite out of all 3 because Gibson seems really consumed
with the soliloquy, you can see that because he pauses in between his lines and at the end, he puts
his end down in sorrow. I also like this version because they decided to film it in a tomb and
surround him by death, which means he is really is contemplating whether it s worth living or

Title IX Legislation In 1972
This study will investigate the question: Did the passage of the Title IX Legislation in 1972 lead
to more women going to college? The main focus of my investigation will begin during the year
of 1972, to analyze if the Title IX did lead more women going to college. The first source I have
selected for my detailed analysis is The Impact of the Title IX. Barbara Winslow produced this
sourceduring the year of 2009, to explain the major impact that the Title IX had on women. This
source is relevant to my specific investigation, because it focuses on keypoint information on the
Title IX and primarily focuses on the effect it had. This source explains how the Title IX impacted
women back then, which has relevance to my question because this... Show more content on

If it wasn t for the passing of the Title IX Legislation, many women wouldn t have the same
opportunities as they have today. Males would usually play in sports, such as football, soccer,
baseball etc. Now the participation of females have increased, and women are now given the
opportunity to play sports in college. Times have definitely changed now because of the Title
IX. If it wasn t passed in 1972, there would be chaos. Mainly because the love for sports does not
only imply toward men, but women too! Both of these quotes demonstrate the amount of women
participating in sports and are entering college is highly increasing. Not only did the Title IX
increase the opportunities that women had, but it also made women regain their confidence. The
evidence that I used within my investigation is valuable because it highlights key point
information and provides the reader with insight on the amount of women playing sports today.
However, this evidence does have its limitations. The quote does provide the percentage of
women that are athletes in college, but it also does not acknowledge the percentage of males,
which of course is still dramatically higher than the women s percentage. However, the quote
should acknowledge the amount of men who play sports in college as well. Reason being is
practically because men should be acknowledged just as much as

Tourism Management Issues
TOURISM MANAGEMENT ISSUES: DARK TOURISM Discuss the tourism management issues
generated by the growth of dark tourism. Abstract: The aim of this research is to consider dark
tourism and discuss what are the tourism management issues generated by the growth of this
phenomenon. To clarify this concept, the report will also include a definition of dark tourism, a
brief background of why this type of tourism is continuously increasing, and finally conclusions will
be drawn. Keywords: culture management, visitor number management, safeguard, vandalism,
conservation Introduction: Dark tourism has been defined as encompassing the visitation to any

Auschwitz camp is a perfect example for this. It is in the process of continual erosion; the growth of
vegetation and foliage coverage has to be managed and controlled. As Lennon and Foley (2004)
further suggest, there should be management rather than restoration. This dark attraction has
swelled visitor number and catalysed economic activity. A very important issue also identified is
that of culture management. Tourist must be given a code of conduct and be educated to behave in
a certain way when visiting particular sites as to conform and integrate with the local community to
avoid conflict. Tourist themselves have, or should have, an obligation to observe codes of
behaviour and be aware of cultural norms in the destination they are visiting (Howie, 2003). Some
behaviour such as alcohol abuse, shouting, fighting should not be permitted as these might insult
the local community and lack of respect needed in these tragedy sites. While at Auschwitz
Birkenau, groups of schoolchildren were taking photographs of each other, parents were
photographing their children at the gates of Birkenau and indeed, school parties were sitting on the
ruins of the crematorium eating sandwiches(Lennon and Foley, 2004). Furthermore funds required
to conserve sites will also be of consideration. The two options that

The Issue Of Legalizing Abortion Essay
Introduction State your Ethical Position on the issue upfront, with its ethical motivation. The
argument surrounding abortion is a very topical issue in our society and dates way back to
ancient days. The issue of legalizing abortion is a growing social concern as all life is sacred
and valued. However, in recent years there have been two ethical arguments by the Supreme
Court in legalizing abortion that of pro life and pro choice. Despite the legal acceptance of
abortion in some countries, the matter remains an ethical concern (Jones Chaloner, 2007). With
this is mind, the writer s position is pro life from a deontological perspective. According to the
Encyclopaedia Britannica (2015), deontological emphasizes the relationship between duty and
morality of human actions. The term deontology derives from the Greek deon, duty, and logos,
science. Thus, pro life seek to advocate for the defenseless human being whose life is being
unjustly taken away (Alcorn, 1994). Since all human life begins at conception the act of abortion
can then be seen as murder because it is the act of taking someone s life. Abortion is an
infringement on human life. In retrospect no civil society would allow for someone to take the life
of another; for that reason, abortion must be viewed as morally wrong. Subsequently, the bible
recognizes no crucial difference between the being in the womb and the being after birth. Hence,
from conception and onwards, the individual is a person. Genesis

George Orwell Symbolism
Benjamin Franklin once said, Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little
temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Franklin, one of the United States Founding
Fathers, talked about a frightened electorate and acknowledged the negative repercussions that are
caused by this group. Furthermore, in 1984, George Orwellexplores a world derived on hate,
control, and repression of the basic liberties of people. Citizens are manipulated into absolving
themselves of independent thought, forced to pursue loyalties to the Party. Benjamin Franklin s
platitude is observed in the novel through the use of symbolism, irony, and diction, and galvanizes
the theme that forced fear leads to a fierce blindness and can eventually... Show more content on

One such example is the rat, a common motif in the story. When Julia and Winston were together
in the room, a rat appeared, which rattled Winston. He commented, Rats! In this room (144).
Clearly, Winston dislikes rats, and can go so far as to fear them. The Party uses this fear to their
advantage and tortures Winston in Room 101 to manipulate his thoughts about Julia, who he loved.
The Party wanted him to abandon all perceived loyalties except those towards the Party. Therefore,
the rat symbolizes a common fear in everyone. For Winston, it just so happens to be this animal.
Those who deviate or are thought to deviate from the established code of conduct undergo through
this process of pain. The usage of extreme methods to force a certain ideology into someone shows
how much control the government of Oceania exerts over its people, and that they do not hesitate
to act on this power. Also, another symbol of control used in the story is the telescreen. The
telescreen is a device used in Oceanic society that can both transmit and receive video and audio
simultaneously. As a result, the Party members must live carefully, in the assumption that every
sound you made was overheard, and, except in

Mexican Culture Essay
Mexico is a very diverse and multicultural country. Over 60 indigenous groups exist, some of them
maintain their own language. Indigenous people mane up 10 30% on the population today. Over
60% of the population is mestizo, and about 9% are from European descent. As a result of the
Spanish conquest a lot of things change, religion is a very good example. As a result of the
conquest Mexicois a predominantly catholic country.
Another example are traditions, like folklore, which is a traditional dance. Also Mexico has
adapted traditions from other countries like halloween whis is a tradition from United States.
Mexico has kept its traditions and adapted new ones from other countries, that is also why it has
made a diverse country, by having the exchange of things we enrich our country. The indigenous

Since the Spanish conquest, Spaniards brought different ingredients and recipes to our country.
Pork was brought into Mexico, cows, donkeys, oatmeal, olives, onions, apples, grapes etc. Thanks to
this exchange of various ingredients mexican cuisine changed and people changed their diet. Right
now on modern days, some of the ingredients that were brought, are now being cultivated and
grown in mexico. Not only Spaniards changed mexican cuisine, but also more countries like Arab
since they were the inspiration for one of the most famous dishes in Mexico tacos de trompo .
Mexico s clothing is another example. When the Spanish arrived, one of the first thing they did
was to put clothes in men and force them to wear pants and a shirt. Aldo silks and wools were
starting to get very popular. One of the most emblematic women dress is the china poblana
which was made by a slave in Puebla, the slave wss chinese but she managed to escape and come
to Mexico, she was sold to a Pueblan merchant. She did not wanted to give up her traditional
clothes so she later was an inspiration to what today is china

Baz Luhrmann In William Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet
Baz Luhrmanns contribution to the art of film, brings about a flamboyant and revitalizing
side to the industry. Through the use of cinematic language, his story telling techniques and
belief in the theatrical cinema come to life.
Baz Luhrmann has a very distinctive directing approach with particular techniques that
define his style. He presents his films as if he were telling a story, which he invites you into.
His stories are simple and he tends to give away the ending at the beginning of the film,
which intrigues you to find out more about what had taken place. For example Romeo and
Juliet starts with a news flash on a television screen describing city brawls that have taken
place and later in the film there are more fights ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And in Romeo and Juliet, Juliet s mothers
costumes give way to his exaggerated style.
The language Luhrmann has used in Romeo and Juliet is lifted from the pages id
Shakespeare s text, which is surprisingly pleasing as the dialogue fits seamlessly into the
style of the film. Luhrmann has stripped the dialogue right down to the necessities in order
to sell to a commercial, younger audience, who struggles to understand the complexities of
the original dialogue.
Baz Luhrmanns films are known for their outlandish visuals and mash up of music creatively
interwoven into the scene. Luhrmann is a master of knowing how to highlight important
ideas and themes in a work that he is adapting. In Romeo and Juliet, he recognized the
importance of violence, and how a modern audience would not understand sword fighting
as being of extreme violence because in today s society there are much more dangerous
weapons available. Therefore the use of guns and a modern setting of Verona were
introduced to the Shakespeare film adaptation.
Baz Luhrmann was criticised for the amount of partying and luxury shown in The Great
Gatsby for it was seen to be unrealistic to the time, even if it did take place during

Morality And Technology And The Presence Of Technology
When young children read the well known fable in class, they are unaware that the story has a
moral. It has a lesson that the adults attempt to instill in them at the very beginning stages of their
lives. These lessons teach morality and begin to introduce certain values to children. In this way,
every person develops values throughout his/her life that are impacted by his or her environment,
biology and social constructs. Through these values, moralityis developed and because each person
has his or her own unique values, morality is based upon the individual. All organisms have evolved
throughout their existence on Earth, but interestingly, humans are the only species that apply
morals to their lives. Morality and technology are manmade inventions. Morality relies on evolution
and the presence of technology.
In the essay Nonmoral Nature, Stephen Jay Gould uses examples of acts of survival that insects
commit in order to ensure their survival. However, because their instinctual acts of survival are
viewed as grotesque, these acts seem immoral to humans. Gould stated, If nature is nonmoral, then
evolution cannot teach any ethical theory at all (1211). This statement refers to the idea that the
sacrificing of the caterpillars and spiders is an act of survival. Animals and insects commit acts in
nature and in their environment because they do what is essential to survive. The animals and
insects do not stop to think about whether what they are doing would be

Colfax Massacre Essay
Lalita Tademy is an interesting case of a writer, as she has a large amount of potential source
material at her disposal due to her family history, the Colfax Massacre is one of those source
materials. Lalita has a rich family history that puts her distant relatives in the middle of one of the
most overlooked and important moments in United States history. These relatives setup and
attempted to protect the courthouse in Colfax 1873, but abruptly ended with the deaths of all the
men in the building in a truly one sided battle. Lalita stated in an interview with NPR, My aunt
Ellen had told me at one point that our people were mixed up in the courthouse incident, and some

There aren t too many critical reviews about Red River and Lalita Tademy s historic accuracy,
but the reviews that do exist do acknowledge the fact that her works are based on her family
history with what she was able to recover. This means they know that not all of the book is
historically accurate which Lalita also acknowledges on her own website, Lalita Tademy
weaves together history and the story of her own family to bring us and epic work of fiction, the
dramatic, intertwining story of two families struggling to make a place for themselves in an
America deeply divided after the Civil War . This ends up being a useful tool for Lalita as she
can make her book engaging to readers with intense moments, and pages of emotion towards the
people represented. The writing style of an author is arguably one of the most important aspects
when making a book as it is what keeps the reader invested and having them want to keep
flipping through the pages, if you have a badly written and overall simple story, you will lose a
majority of your readers and lower your credibility as an author. When it comes to Lalita Tademy
s Red River , she definitely nails an excellent spot for a well written story, but there are still flaws
as with every author, nobody is perfect. Throughout this book, it is apparent that Lalita is fond of

Emotions In The Novel The Mark Of The Dragonfly
In the novel The Mark of the Dragonfly, the main character Piper had many different emotions
throughout the book. Sometimes Piper has more positive and joyful emotions, while on the other
hand she might have negative and not so jolly emotions. Piper s emotions change over the course
of the novel and are different from the beginning of the novel towards the ending of the novel. In
page 24 in the book it states, A cold knot of dread settled in Piper s stomach. Isn t he with you?
That sentence would show Piper feeling fear or dread , when she realized that Micah was missing.
This is giving me the idea that the emotionthat Piper is feeling, is going to change the way the
author writes the book, like when the author used a cold knot of dread. That would show, since
Piper is feeling fear, the author includes more descriptive language that in other parts of the novel.
Another emotion change Piper had earlier in the book was in page 112, Piper s stomach clenched
when she heard those words. That would show Piper feeling uneasy, or scared which... Show more

The author probably included this to show that Piper is not always scared, but can start standing
up for herself. The author might have also included this in order to have Piper be more brave
throughout the rest of the book, which would eventually help her win her battle against Doloman.
Another emotion change was in page 207 when it said, Let it go. Piper advised, pulling Anna
toward another chair. This would support the last emotion of standing up and not letting others
bring you down, which could possibly lead up to a theme. Both of these emotions were mostly
about being brave and confident, which is an extreme emotion change from the beginning of the
novel; having fear, to standing up from

Examples Of Metaphors In The Convergence Of The Twain
Pride, a human flaw, creates destruction and the insatiable desire for more. It leads to testing
nature and eventually to downfall. On April 14, 1912 the Titanic and its unsinkable pride collided
with an iceberg. The people onboard noticed the Iceberg too late to avoid it. In The Convergence
of the Twain , Thomas Hardy expressed his belief that fate brought down the Titanic due to human
pridethough his descriptions of the ship and its people and his descriptions of nature and the iceberg
. Hardy uses metaphors, personification, and irony to prove the ship s fate was set as soon as
humans believed her greater than nature. By comparing the ship to beautiful inanimate objects, the
reader can see the destruction and uselessness of beauty. The Titanic is jewels in joy designed to
attracted the sensuous mind. The Titanic, beautifully crafted by thousands of hands and great
patience stunned and mesmerized the human mind just as jewels do. The ship s beauty did not
aid it in the end. The ship now lie[s] lightless with all it s shine bleared and black and blind. This
beauty s final destination ends in the cold ocean waters lying useless and dull as fated. People
created this ship with an enormous pride that even the ship could not contain it, its crown set too
high. It tested nature with its vanityand nature retaliated. Hardy criticizes the ship on her pride,
where she only has herself to blame. Hardy uses personification to give the ship life and personality.

Margaret of Scotland, so known as Margaret de Wessex and Queen Margaret of the Scotland, was an English princess of the House of Wessex. Margaret was sometimes called В«The Pearl of the Scotland . Born in exile in Hungary. Margaret and her family returned to England in 1057, but ran away towards the kingdom of the Scotland after the Norman conquest of England of 1066. Around 1070 Margaret married Malcolm III of the Scotland, and became Queen of Scotland. The King always associated his wife with the business of the kingdom and his reign for forty years was of the happiest: eight children in a very close home and a country managed well in spite of fights with the Norman invaders. She was a pious woman, and among the numerous acts of charity, she created a ferry through Firth of Forth for the pilgrims going to the abbey of Dunfermline, which gave the cities of South Queensferry and North Queensferry their names. Margaret was the mother of three kings of Scotland and a husband of the queen of England. According to Saint Marguerite s life, attributed by to Turgot de Durham, she died in Castle of Edinburgh in 1093, a few days after having received the news of the death of her husband in battle. • 4. Social Work Statement Of Interest Essay Thomas S. (T.S.) Williams Statement of Interest Stephen F. Austin State University School of Social Work Degree Objective: MSW I would like to bring social justice to individual lives by advocating for equality and ensuring access to basic resources for the most underserved populations in our communities. I have been involved in community advocacy with different organizations for most of my adult life, and I have always believed that if there is a problem work talking about then there also are solutions worth exploring and implementing. I ve had a long term interest in the field of social work, however it was in 2008 that I decided this was the field for me. I had the opportunity to volunteer with the PeaceJam Foundation at a local conference; PeaceJam is an organization that works with 14 Nobel Peace Laureates to mentor youth, creating young leaders committed to positive change in themselves, their communities, and the world. The impact that I witnessed on the young incredible lives was a defining moment; I knew that I was going to pursue a Masters in Social Work; it feels like a calling rather than the unfulfilling office career I once pursued. My success as an MSW candidate will be enhanced due to a multitude personal qualities, and life experiences that center on themes of social equality. I have a history of advocacy and passion for social justice that will further the social work profession when working with marginalized communities. I have been deeply involved in ... • 5. Essay on Student Athletes Should Not Be Paid Student Athletes Should Not Be Paid In the world of college athletics there are endless topics discussed daily and most pertain to money. An issue that falls under this category includes the heated debate involving whether or not student athletes should receive money. Many people say student athletes should receive compensation according to their specific needs because they spend so much time earning their scholarship and have no time to work. On the other hand, the stronger argument is student athletes should not be able to acquire additional funds in order to help aid them through college. An athlete knows what he or she is involving themselves in before any money issue is even brought up. Signing a letter of intent shows that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Actions towards paying athletes are being taken and according to the TCU Daily Skiff, There s a legislation being passed around in the Big 12 states to provide athletes with an extra stipend in addition to their all expenses paid education. The idea is that these students are producing truckloads of revenue for the university and should see some of the fruits of their labor. (Jennings, par. 2) Because athletes aren t paid for producing such money, supporters feel some of the money made should go towards helping with extra expenses. An average student athlete has to pay for phone bills, transportation, entertainment, laundry, toiletries and other things. While the typical college student has the opportunity to work, athletes don t. Some students in college receive academic full ride scholarships, which are the same as athletic full rides, but they have time to earn extra money on the side. If these students are receiving a full ride scholarship and have the opportunity to work then an athlete should be paid a compensation for his or her efforts on the playing field. On the contrary, there is a reason the NCAA has not passed a law saying athletes should be paid and numerous reasons support this view. In fact according to NCAA rules, Section 2, Title V reads, It is a violation of the NCAA rules for athletes to accept money or gifts while intending to remain eligible. (Way, par. 16) There is a reason for this law and why it has not changed. Individuals ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I had become smitten with my esteemed and beloved physics professor who made the mechanics of matter and energy astoundingly simple and beautiful. As the hours I had spent with him. Yet, my heart remained wary. He would never be fully available to me. Since, from all appearances, he and his wife were content. Meanwhile, Mark and I had grown further apart. His demanding academic curriculum put stress on him. So, to lessen his anxiety, he smoked marijuana daily. However, to stay alert for class, he drank cups of coffee, as well. And that it s important that I stay put and make an effort to network. All true, he said. But you deserve a break. When you come, we ll celebrate your birthday with cake and champagne. My guest house is vacant and ready for you. With that, I decided. How can I refuse a man who remembered my birthday? And who has a plan, and the desire to make me happy? Even so, I wondered had he become a New Age guru and abandoned his teaching position at the university. Besides, what about his wife, would she welcome me, as well. Also, the city of Berkeley was loaded with memories drenched with drama. Through the years, I had buried them deep inside my psyche. It s true that every street, restaurant, cafГ© or night spot would be a roadmap to dislodge them. Even so, I was willing to throw caution to the wind. Since Malcolm and I had been more than friends. Once, we were two people in love, though, not solely with each other. It was complicated. Still, I wanted to revisit him again. • 7. Views of Death and Loss in the Poems of Pablo Neruda and... Death has inspired poets across time and space, language barriers, and cultures allowing them to create transcendent works that resonate with many individuals. Two poets whose works incorporate the theme of death are Dylan Thomas (1914 1953), a Welsh poet and writer, and Pablo Neruda (1904 1973), a Chilean poet, diplomat, and politician. Thomas s Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night, one of his most famous poems, focuses on Thomas s struggle to come to terms with his father s death. Neruda s poem, The Dead Woman focuses on the poets resolve to overcome the loss of the woman he loves. Both Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night and The Dead Woman demonstrate how each poet views death and how he is able to come to terms with the loss of a loved one. Thomas wrote Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night shortly before his father s death. In the poem, Thomas supplicates his father to fight against his instinct and desire to give in to death through various appeals. Thomas argues, Old age should burn and rave at close of day (Thomas 2). Through this statement, Thomas maintains that despite one s age, there is a desire to fight against death, whether because one is afraid to face the inevitable or because one wishes to live as long as they can. Thomas provides his father with various examples of different types of men, who despite their differences share a common goal. The officer that I rode along with was Officer Jonathan Boyce. Officer Boyce brought me to the back of the police state and showed me all the veteran polices that have served for 20 years and more. Then he showed me where the police station receives its mail. Afterward he brought me to his appointed police car. Officer Boyce spoke to the owner of the car and get the entire story of what occurred. Officer Boyce then said that he would bring me to my house. Officer Boyce drove me to my house and dropped me off. This experience really changed my view on Carlsbad. I didn t expect Carlsbad to have much crime and violates. • 11. Demographic Transition Theory Do we live in an overcrowded world? Discuss the demographic transition theories as well as the theories of Malthus and his critics before coming up with your own informed opinion Overcrowding seems at this point to be an inevitable and freighting consequence of urbanization and global population growth. But to answer if the world is overcrowded is highly relative to whom the question is being asked. To those knowledgeable about the demographic transition theories will note that the theories have nothing really to do with answering if the world is overcrowded. They could use the mortality and fertility rate charts to see what countries are where on the scales but there is not anywhere to label when the world is overcrowded. The theories can definitely point to trends in fertility and mortality but it would hard to be able to conclude anything about an overcrowded world. Since death and birth go hand in hand there always seems to be somewhat of a balance. If the question was asked to the then alive Thomas Malthus he would probably answer yes to the world being overcrowded. He would most likely share his theory on exponential population growth where populations grown increasingly overtime always more than the previous year. Wherein populace is growing but the supply of food and other necessities are now yielding at the same rate. He was able to notice that high volume populace change was apparent and could be debilitating to societies and the globe. Personally I believe the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Dover Beach is a slightly sappy poem written in a depressing matter. A man pours out his heart and feelings to his companion on the beach. Sappy and depressing do not seem to fit together very well, but that is the best terminology to describe it. As for Dover Bitch , it is mocking the poem Dover Beach. In this poem, the writer is claiming the female from Dover Beach would rather get physical that simply listen to her date ramble on. While analyzing Dover Beach and Dover Bitch , it is evident the two writers have opposing views on the outlook of life. In the poem Dover Beach by Matthew Arnold, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dover Bitch was written by an apparently sarcastic, humorous man named Anthony Hecht. In the beginning of this poem, he wants to make sure the reader knows exactly who is mocking by calling Matthew Arnold by name. While Dover Beach was written with beautiful, meaningful words Dover Bitch was written in a sort of conversational tone. He mocks how the speaker in Arnold s poem rambles on and the girl has to listen to his garbage. He claims the girl was simply thinking of the notion of what his whiskers would feel like/on the back of her neck (lines 10 11). Hecht states that he had been intimate with this woman and it was simply just a once in a while thing. Whenever he came to town, he would give her a present, sleep with her, and then move on with his life. It could be a month or a year before this woman heard from him again. Sadly, the woman went along with it. Whenever he called, she came running. His view on life is less emotional than that of Matthew Arnold. One explanation for this deceleration is due in part to the increased number of imports the United States had during the second quarter. To comprehend GDP as an indicator of economic activity, we must fully understand each of its four sub categories. Consumption is the spending by households on goods and services, with the exception of purchases of new housing. Personal consumption expenditures are broken down into durable goods, nondurable goods, and services. The Bureau of Labor Statistics states that personal consumer expenditures have been increasing every quarter from August of 2003 to August of 2004 with a gradual deceleration. The percent change from August 2003 to August 2004 on all item expenditures is 2.1%. The majority of these expenditures are found in services. Everyone has traits and you get them by inheriting them. Also included in this essay is the breeding of a German Shepard and a Golden Retriever. Everyone has traits, but how do we get them? Your genotypes determine your phenotype (or trait). To determine your genotype, you use the alleles given from each parent. If an alleleis dominant then it is expressed by a capital letter, and if it is a recessive allele then the letter is lowercase. Your genotype can be expressed in different ways, Homozygous Dominant (EE), Heterozygous (Ee), and Homozygous Dominant (ee). In order for you to know the probability of the offspring getting a certain trait is through Punnett Squares and Pedigrees. In a Punnett square you put one genotype on the top of the square and put the other genotype on the left side of the square. You use those and cross the alleles and get the genotypes for the offspring. You can then use the genotypes to determine the probability of the offspring getting a dominant or... Showing dominance extending from the beginning of his career to the very end, he is the greatest athlete that the swimming world, and perhaps even the entire world of sports has ever seen. Phelps s unprecedented level of achievement not even rivaled by Leonidas of Rhodes in the Olympics and records in the sport of swimming have created history, his passion for the sport has contributed back to the community, while his struggles have shown society that problems can be overcome in order to allow greatness to be achieved. Phelps s struggles began in his childhood. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Phelps did not begin his swimming career until the age of 7 (Bargeron Tidd). Initially scared of the pool, Phelps refused to put his head into the water. Along with that he was diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, at 9 years old (Olympics), around the time that his parents got divorced. With the mental challenges of the disorder, Phelps needed an outlet for his physical restlessness. Now a vent to his seemingly limitless energy, the change led Phelps to make drastic improvements in his swimming. To complete the transformation, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It may have started as a great thing in the industrial revolution but now in the twenty first century population has become a global issue. A global issue can be identified because it is not only affecting the whole humanrace, but also global in the sense that it affects the whole world. War and conflict, poverty, high cost of living, degradation of the environment, depletion of natural resources, and unemployment all caused by the ever growing human population. The Cultural Impact Of Globalization Global Progress In an age in which people, business, and organizations can communicate even while residing on different sides of the world, globalization has played a major role in the progress of today s global society. As globalization continues to extend its reach to different parts of the world in different ways, it is clear that it has left a positive mark on the world both culturally and economically while improving international relationships. One of the most prominent ways in which globalizationhas improved society is through cultural integration. As globalization increases, the spread of works, ideas, and beliefs from different cultures extends its reach to new parts of the world. As more people from different areas are able to become familiar with each others beliefs and cultures, people around the world become more accepting of integration. Therefore, as people migrate to different countries they are better able to become part of society without having to feel ostracized. Simultaneously, international relationships between different countries become stronger as there is more interaction between them. For example, when European traveler Marco Polo visited China, he brought back Chinese artifacts and wrote a book to explain to fellow Europeans the beliefs and ideas that the people from this foreign country had. • 29. Political Theories And Ideology Of Liberal Democracy Essay Many challenges put a stress on Modern Democracy because of the political theories and ideology our government holds, the current politicians taking office, inequalities throughout social classes and economies, and the opinions of We the People . Nearly every country claims to be some form of a democracy, but not all these self proclaimed democracies allow for free politics, good government, and rule of law (Crick, 2002). Liberal democracyhas begun to win over its royalist, fascist, and collectivist rivals over the course of the last few centuries, and the freedom to vote has been steadily expanded to those who were without it. But the liberal democracies of the world do have problems. Democracy is only as good as its citizens, and the quality of those citizens demands certain constant factors (7 Concerns, 2012). Gerrymandering is the process in which political boundaries are redraw or changed in order to benefit one political party over another one; if one party has power of the state legislature, then they can change political boundaries to maximize their chances of winning congressional districts to win an election. By doing this, unfair and skewed results are produced because redrawn lines can be made to help one party win over the other, since constituents for the losing party will be divided between districts (Tormsen, 2015). This will also allow the winning party to win more electoral votes and seats (Tormsen, 2015). This practice is uniquely American and can be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. The Doctrine Of The Trinity And The Nicene Creed And... Beginning around the fourth century, Christian councils were forced to respond to the heresies of Arianism and Sabellianism, whose views on the Trinity were unacceptable to many Christians. As a response, the councils composed creeds such as the Nicene Creed and Athanasian Creed. In current times, philosophers Jeff Brower and Michael Rea try to explain the doctrine of the Trinitythrough analogies. I will discuss the two heresies and creeds, as well as the analogies presented. Arianism denies the true divinity of Christ as seen by many Christians. It does not entirely deny the Son s divinity, but it views the Son as less divine than the Father. Specifically, Christ came into existence through the Father. To an Arian, God was unoriginate with no beginning, while the Son was originate of the Father (Barry, 1907). At one point, the Son did not exist, meaning the Son is distinct from the Father. The Son is subordinate to the Father, and for this reason, Arianism falls under subordinationism (Brower Rea, 2005). Sabellianism takes a different approach towards the Trinity. Rather than describing the Son as lesser than the Father, Sabellianism sees the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as different manifestations of God. For example, God takes the form of the Father with regards to creation, the Son with regards to redemption, and the Holy spirit with regards to the distribution of grace (Brower Rea, 2005). Sabellianism is a form a modalism because it sees the Father, Son, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

His ability to create tone allows us to understand the characters of the story, and enables us to actually feel as if we are in the story by creating such a vivid mood. Lawrence uses the eyes of the main character, Paul, to show how he feels about the events taking place, and this in turn helps the reader empathize with the boy and understand the story. Lawrence tells of Paul s closely set eyes that have a blue glare (970) when he was on his rocking horse, trying to find a winner. Through the analogy we can feel the intensity that Paul experiences while he is on the rocking horse. Lawrence uses the eyes to show Paul s excitement when he gets to attend the races. The phrase [h]is eyes were blue fire (972) illustrates the wild wonder in which he observed the actual race and eyes blazing (972) shows the thrill he experienced from winning money at these races. As the boy describes to his Uncle Oscar the way that the voice of the house speaks to him, his eyes [have] an uncanny cold fire in them (975) which depicts the passionate and intense feelings that he experiences. When the boy becomes obsessed with winning money, the eyes show his mania. After Lincoln loses the race and Paul loses fifty pounds, he [becomes] wild eyed and strange, as if something were going to explode inside of him (976). It may be physical or psychological. It can be a metaphor to show the passion that is proportionate to the loss or gain, happiness or misery, peace or war. When our judgment is clouded by too much passion or excessive love, there is a tendency to be blinded to the limitless pitfalls (Bady, 2016). Blindness in a figurative sense can be seen as a split between ignorance and concealment. Literarily, it can be seen in the following phrases Blind ignorance (lacking knowledge), blind stupor (lacking awareness), blind prejudice (lacking a critical or questioning attitude), blind taste test (tasting without looking), blind presentation (lacking preparation or information) (Paterson, 2014). I watched 3 versions of this soliloquy, Kenneth Branagh s version, Ethan Hawke s version and, Mel Gibson s version. They were all very different from each other and unique in their own ways. I believe that Mel Gibson s performance of To be, or not to be was the most effective and I will explain why. Starting with Kenneth Branagh s version, his version was simple and straight to the point. Branagh s version was less self reflective and more like he is talking to his hidden audience (Claudius and Polonius). There wasn t much emotion to his soliloquy and it sounded much rehearsed instead of laid back. But he does ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The tomb has low lighting, it s dark and he is alone in that tomb. It was also very quiet. His voice echoes in the whole tomb so there was no music needed because his voice is dramatic enough. In the tomb, there are a lot of bones and crypt, and that can symbolize death later on in the play. In his soliloquy, it was at a flat (eye level) angle with multiple camera shots. First, it was a long shot to show the audience where Gibson was. Then, it was mostly close up shots but still shows Gibson pacing around the tomb. That makes the audience know get a sense of his facial expressions. They also track him sometimes when Gibson s walking around the tomb but usually lets the camera stay in one place to show his whole body. While filming this, there was many short breaks to show the bones and crypt as Gibson is talking to them they were cuts. Also at the end of his soliloquy, it went faded into the next scene. This is my favorite out of all 3 because Gibson seems really consumed with the soliloquy, you can see that because he pauses in between his lines and at the end, he puts his end down in sorrow. I also like this version because they decided to film it in a tomb and surround him by death, which means he is really is contemplating whether it s worth living or ... Times have definitely changed now because of the Title IX. If it wasn t passed in 1972, there would be chaos. Mainly because the love for sports does not only imply toward men, but women too! Both of these quotes demonstrate the amount of women participating in sports and are entering college is highly increasing. Not only did the Title IX increase the opportunities that women had, but it also made women regain their confidence. The evidence that I used within my investigation is valuable because it highlights key point information and provides the reader with insight on the amount of women playing sports today. However, this evidence does have its limitations. The quote does provide the percentage of women that are athletes in college, but it also does not acknowledge the percentage of males, which of course is still dramatically higher than the women s percentage. It is in the process of continual erosion; the growth of vegetation and foliage coverage has to be managed and controlled. As Lennon and Foley (2004) further suggest, there should be management rather than restoration. This dark attraction has swelled visitor number and catalysed economic activity. A very important issue also identified is that of culture management. Tourist must be given a code of conduct and be educated to behave in a certain way when visiting particular sites as to conform and integrate with the local community to avoid conflict. Tourist themselves have, or should have, an obligation to observe codes of behaviour and be aware of cultural norms in the destination they are visiting (Howie, 2003). Some behaviour such as alcohol abuse, shouting, fighting should not be permitted as these might insult the local community and lack of respect needed in these tragedy sites. While at Auschwitz Birkenau, groups of schoolchildren were taking photographs of each other, parents were photographing their children at the gates of Birkenau and indeed, school parties were sitting on the ruins of the crematorium eating sandwiches(Lennon and Foley, 2004). • 45. The Issue Of Legalizing Abortion Essay Introduction State your Ethical Position on the issue upfront, with its ethical motivation. The argument surrounding abortion is a very topical issue in our society and dates way back to ancient days. The issue of legalizing abortion is a growing social concern as all life is sacred and valued. However, in recent years there have been two ethical arguments by the Supreme Court in legalizing abortion that of pro life and pro choice. Despite the legal acceptance of abortion in some countries, the matter remains an ethical concern (Jones Chaloner, 2007). With this is mind, the writer s position is pro life from a deontological perspective. According to the Encyclopaedia Britannica (2015), deontological emphasizes the relationship between duty and morality of human actions. The term deontology derives from the Greek deon, duty, and logos, science. Thus, pro life seek to advocate for the defenseless human being whose life is being unjustly taken away (Alcorn, 1994). Since all human life begins at conception the act of abortion can then be seen as murder because it is the act of taking someone s life. Abortion is an infringement on human life. In retrospect no civil society would allow for someone to take the life of another; for that reason, abortion must be viewed as morally wrong. Subsequently, the bible recognizes no crucial difference between the being in the womb and the being after birth. Hence, from conception and onwards, the individual is a person. Genesis ... It has a lesson that the adults attempt to instill in them at the very beginning stages of their lives. These lessons teach morality and begin to introduce certain values to children. In this way, every person develops values throughout his/her life that are impacted by his or her environment, biology and social constructs. Through these values, moralityis developed and because each person has his or her own unique values, morality is based upon the individual. All organisms have evolved throughout their existence on Earth, but interestingly, humans are the only species that apply morals to their lives. Morality and technology are manmade inventions. Morality relies on evolution and the presence of technology. In the essay Nonmoral Nature, Stephen Jay Gould uses examples of acts of survival that insects commit in order to ensure their survival. However, because their instinctual acts of survival are viewed as grotesque, these acts seem immoral to humans. Gould stated, If nature is nonmoral, then evolution cannot teach any ethical theory at all (1211).
