Racism For Dummies
How to deal with Racism for Dummies: AP Lit Edition With an ever growing and diversifying
population, race is a term that people have become more accustomed to. Many would say that as a
society, American citizens have taken steps to subdue and reduce racism. Others may say that the
government itself has adopted institutional policies to prevent racism. If such were to be true,
considering that those actions to fight racism have existed for at least a century, why is one not
able to see that those efforts to fight racism may be ineffective? Society for the past decades has
built a manner in which we assume that racism is wrong. Despite those efforts, hundreds of issues
concerning racecontinue occurring. Rather than taking perspective that racism is wrong, society
should have a more active focus on the population by providing education on how to respond
correctly to issues that can concern... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With this ideology, society as a whole can act against racism to a more efficient extent. Instead
of just simply simply stating racism is wrong, people will be able to learn to respond properly
respond to racism as how Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer have; society will have a more
tangible impact towards racism. For decades, the racism was viewed along a motif that it is
wrongful. It is present in law, literature, arts, and simple morals. Many of those steps that society
has taken focuses upon highlighting the damage that racism causes to both an individual and
society, yet, controversial racial issues occur at an alarming rate. The first recorded major effort to
subdue racism was the 14th amendment, being approximately 150 years. Since then, this direction
has integrated into society in which people are taught that treating people differently according to
race is wrongful. With that a effort for at least a century and such problems persisting, Thomson
Reuter argues, [that] it should be a clear indicator that the current stance against

Congress and the state legislative pass laws that align to the U.S. Constitution. However, the laws

agencies such as federal, state, and local agencies are required to detail the policies and regulations

administrative laws. Administrative laws affect the daily interaction of the K 12 educationsystem.

On the other hand, if a school has less than 20 EL in a grade level then the school is required to

The Melancholic Tone of The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe Essay
The Melancholic Tone of The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe
Edgar Allan Poe s The Raven, is representing Poe s own introvertedness, which is strangely moving
and attractive to the reader. In his essay entitled The Philosophy of Composition, Poe reveals his
intent in writing The Raven and also describes the work of writing the poem as being carefully
calculated in all aspects. Of all melancholy topics, Poe wished to use the most understood, death,
specifically death involving a beautiful woman.
The tone in Edgar Allan Poe s The Raven represents a painful state of mind, a mind that is
vulnerable to madness that is brought upon by the death of his beloved lady. Which is representing
Poe s own personal problems, with those of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The raven patronizes Poe that he will never see his lost love again when uttering, forget this lost
Lenore (Thompson, 83). Alcohol taunts Poe into never ending depression and caused Poe to
have a life long problem with alcoholism, which led to his death. In a similar way that the alcohol
explored Poe s inner devastation, the raven gives a look into the narrator s innermost fears that he
will never see his Lenore again. In the first stanza, questioning from what direction the tapping
came, he throws open the door, the narrators nemesis not to be found. In fact it was some other
realm that must have been opened up about his lost love and the noise, which is driving him
insane. The narrator then opens the shutter, which could be interpreted as opening his soul to the
outside world. To his surprise, he discovers a raven, a beast upon the sculptured bust above his
chamber door (Thompson, 53). The raven directs all further action in the poem, it ridicules and
patronizes the narrator throughout the poem and its evil force creates a sense of suffering and
anguish within the character. The climax of the poem is when the narrator faces his confused and
disordered world and in the narrator s madness he cries out, Get thee back into the tempest and the
Night s Plutonian shore! (Thompson, 98).
Poe s use of symbolism was influential in making the literary reputation of The Raven . The raven

Oh, cried Lizzie, Laura, Laura, / You should not peep at goblin men. / Lizzie cover d up her eyes,
/ Cover d close lest they should look; / Laura rear d her glossy head, / And whisper d like the
restless brook: / Look, Lizzie, look, Lizzie, / Down the glen tramp little men. / One hauls a basket,

/ No, said Lizzie, No, no, no; / Their offers should not charm us, / Their evil gifts would harm us.
/ She thrust a dimpled finger / In each ear, shut eyes and ran: / Curious Laura chose to linger

many argued between weather or not the poem was meant to be a children s poem, but author
Christina Rossetti later makes a statement that is clear in that her poem was not, in fact, meant for
children as it contains explicit imagery. In her poem,

Comparing Two Personality Theories
For this assignment, we are asked to compare and contrast two personality theories from the
course that we have learned this far. I decided to write about Erich Fromm and Victor Frankl. I feel
as though both are very important theorist and they reflect us in everyday life.
Erich Fromm was a German social analyst and psychoanalyst, who related to the Frankfurt School
of basic hypothesis. He was known for building up the idea that opportunity was a key a portion of
human instinct, and for testing the hypotheses of Sigmund Freud.
Fromm was an exclusive tyke destined to Orthodox Jewish guardians in Frankfurt on March 23,
1900. He would later portray his adolescence as exceedingly masochist. At the age of 14, Fromm
was vigorously impacted by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He got his MD and PhD degrees from the University of Vienna where he concentrated on
psychiatry and neurology, concentrating on the regions of suicide and dejection. As a
medicinal understudy in the late 20s, he effectively guided secondary school understudies to
practically take out suicide. Due to these achievements, he was requested that head the suicide
anticipation branch of the General Hospital in Vienna. In the wake of treating a great many
individuals over the four years he was there, Frankl took a position as the leader of the
neurological division at the Rothschild Hospital, one of only a handful couple of offices that
permitted Jews to practice medication around then. In 1942, Frankl and his folks, spouse, and
sibling were captured and sent to the Thereisienstadt death camp; Frankl s dad kicked the bucket
there inside six months. Through the span of three years, Frankl was moved between four death
camps, including Auschwitz where his sibling passed on and his mom was executed. Frankl s
better half passed on at Bergen Belsen. At the point when Frankl s camp was freed in 1945, he
learned of the demise of all his close relatives, except for his sister who had emigrated to Australia.
In the camps, Frankl and fellow detainees endeavored to address the melancholy they saw in
different prisoners. With an end goal to forestall suicide endeavors, Frankl and others tried to help
different detainees confronting serious discouragement by urging them to ponder positive
recollections, scenes, and contemplations. Frankl utilized his encounters as a part of the camps to
build up his hypothesis of logotherapy, at times alluded to as the Third Viennese School of
Psychotherapy, because Frankl came after Sigmund Freud and Alfred Adler. Frankl trusted that even
amidst dehumanizing and abominable conditions, life still had meaning and that agony had a
reason. Frankl felt that amid extraordinary

The Influence Of The March On Washington
William P. Jones s The March on Washington begins by highlighting A. Philip Randolph, a black
labor unionist and civil rights advocate, who attempted to organize a March on Washington in
1941. Although Randolph s original march failed to come to fruition, the novel depicts the
proceedings as a prerequisite to the 1963 march. Depicting Randolph as a central figure to the
March on Washington Movement, the novel tells the story of the events leading up to and through
the March on Washington that took place on August 28, 1963. Although the majority of the focus
of The March on Washington revolves around the actions of A. Philip Randolphand his mostly male
peripheral contacts before the march, I argue that the capacity and framework of the foundations
of the 1963 March on Washington were substantially influenced by the actions of prominent
black female leaders. The March on Washington of 1941 s was a response to President Roosevelt
s inability to address the problems associated with discrimination and segregation in the labor
sectors of federally funded defense industries and in every sector of the military (26, 27, and 30).
A. Philip Randolph originally predicted that 10,00 people would attend the march, but as the
march approached the numbers increased from 10,00 to 50,00 to 100,00 Negro laborers,
domestics, mechanics, professionals would arrive at the Capital for the march (Jones, 37). Why did
Randolph expect such an increase in numbers, and where did he think these people would come
from? It is likely that Randolph s confidence stemmed from the recognition that his movement was
informally backed due to pressure from Jeanetta Welch on Mary McLeod Bethune, the president of
the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) by the NCNW (Jones, 34). As Randolph s most
prominent backer, the NCNW consisted of a network of women s clubs and sororities, like Alpha
Kappa Alpha (AKA), who sent an avalanche of more than 3000 letters, telegrams and long distance
telephone calls to white house officials, whose entire membership exceeded 800,000 (Jones, 34).
Without the support of NCNW Randolph wouldn t have had the capacity needed to intimidate the
nation s president with the possibility of 100,000 mass marchers.

Build Up of Suspense in the movie Jaws Essay
Build Up of Suspense in the movie Jaws
The film Jaws has been directed and produced in 1975 by Steven Spielberg. It is about a police
chief that has been assigned to a hot resort on one of New England Coast s beaches. His job is to
make sure that the killer shark, which has already eaten a person in this area, does not have a
chance to attack again.
The film is set on the 4th of July because it is a national holiday in America The Independence
Day. Lots of people organise picnics, go for holidays etc. The New England Coast is an attraction
to tourists and many people visit it during their holidays. In the film the protagonist is chief Brody
(Roy Scheider). The secondary characters are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the attack and the disturbing music the dead silence came. This is to highlight the fact that
the girl has been killed in a very brutal and painful way and that nobody could help her, even if they
wanted to. It also tells the audience that the shark is creepy, awful and unstoppable. This shark
characterisation helped the director to build tension more effectively before the future attacks.
Just like silence, music can also be used to scare the audience. An example of this is the loudness
of the theme tune increasing as the shark is getting closer to its prey. It tells us that the attack is
about to begin and lets us know that the person attacked will die, we know that he or she could not
survive as previous victims had not survived.
In the second attack a lot of camera techniques have been used to help build tension and scare the
audience. The scene began with a straight, long shot of a 10 year old boy, Alex, going to his
mother to ask for more time in the water. The straight shot was used to show equality, to make the
audience feel as they are in the same place with all tourists on the beach. This did not build any
tension because nothing was going to happen at that point. The audience might wonder why so
much time is spent with Alex, why we are continously focused on him, not on any of the other boys
this starts to build

A Brief Look at Poliomyelitis
INTRODUCTION Poliomyelitis is often called polio, this polio is an acute infectious disease
caused by a virus which can spread from person to person via the fecal oral route. The term
poliomyelitis means inflammation of the spinal cord of the grey matter. In severe poliomyelitis
infection it can expand to the brainstem. Polio is so contagious that anyone living with a person
that is recently affected can spread the virus for weeks in their feces. It invades the nervous system
and spread within hours. Poliomyelitiscauses infection with a member of the genus called the
enterovirus which is known as the poliovirus. It belongs to a group of Ribonucleic acid (RNA)
viruses which affects the gastrointestinal tract especially the intestine and the oropharynx. Its
structure is very simple, composed of a single positive sense RNA genome which is enclosed in
a protein shell called the capsid. The capsid apart from protecting the virus genetic material, it
capsid protein also make the polio virus to infect some certain types of cells. There are three
serotypes of poliovirus that have been identified; it includes the poliovirus type 1, poliovirus
type of 2 and poliovirus 3. They all look similar but have a small different structure in its capsid
protein. The poliovirus type 1 is the one that causes most of the disease and is mostly associated
with paralysis. Poliomyelitis can come in two ways of polio infection .There is a minor illness

The Tragedy Of Columbine And Sandy Hook
Columbine and Sandy Hook, and the tragedy associated to them, shared a common denominator
often targeted by the media, violent video games. However, the bias of the media failed to bring
attention to other more prominent factors. These video games do not spur aggression as media
turns a blind eye to more telling elements such as mental health issues and bullying.
As the level of violence in video games increases, so does the level of concern for those who play
them. Some people are quick to blame school shootings on games just because the kid played a
violent game. The topic of videogames and violence can be compared to the chicken or the egg

Symbolism Of Power In William Golding s Lord Of The Flies

Honors English 10
2 January 2018
Power can be used for the greater good, or power can be used to advance personal agenda As
Golding s Lord of the Flies develops, power does also. When a group of boys are stranded on an
island, the boys power shifts dramatically. The boys fight for powerand savagery increases as the
time on the island increases. The island was split into groups due to Jacks fiend for power, this was
the cause of all evil on the island. Power on the island causes murder and great destruction. The
conch is a symbol for power and order, and Ralph controls the privilege of holding the power.
When Jack s character is introduced in chapter 2 he is already fighting for the power of the
conch with Ralph. The conches role was very significant in early chapters to keep the boys on
the same page but the power of the conch was quickly lost to Jacks uprising. Jack s power takes
over him and turns him into a savage creating destruction to the whole island. They painted their
faces like savages (Golding 163). Jacks way of proving himself to the rest of the island was to
kill the pig. He did this not for the food but to show his dominance. Power later leads to
destruction when Jack and his tribe kills Simon. Simon s role on the island was almost a spiritual
figure to Ralph. He was able to inform Ralph many things about the island and how it could affect
the group of boys. Jack had no remorse after the killing and made it seem

Krishna and Hinduism Worldview Essays
Condition:
The question of condition, or problem, mainly focuses on what is wrong with the world and your
surroundings or with yourself. In the Krishna and Hinduism world view, the problem is the illusion,
or Maya, that people tend to build about themselves and what surrounds them. Maya is when people
see themselves as something separate instead of the common Hindu belief that all things are
connected. Maya brings ignorance, attachment, and reincarnation into the lives of people. People
start thinking that they are the most important thing around and do not think about the harm that
they may bring to others and mainly their own souls. They start betraying and killing for simple
desires instead of for ones own good. By being this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The paths help to explain that for one to evolve they should worship more, Men who worship
me, thinking solely of me, always disciplined, win the reward I secure (Gita 9:20 p.58) and be
following and doing your duties, Look to your own duty do not tremble before it (Gita 2:31 p.57).
These two ways of fixing the problem are explained by Krishna to Arjuna in the Bhagavad Gita.
Arjuna is set to fight in a battle but in the last minute he twirls around the idea of retreating
because of the fear of dying and killing. He believes that the act of killing will be bad in karma.
Krishna is outraged with this non sense and makes it his duty to open Arjuna s eyes to see and
realize that he has a duty and that it is to be a warrior and fight. Krishna argues that by not
fulfilling his duty in reality will be what brings him the bad karma that he so truly fears. In the
end, Arjuna can not back down into his fears because that would be like turning your back on the
God. A Hindu must follow their duties, beliefs, and many rituals in order to reach their inner
peace, to receive good karma and possibly a better ranking in the caste system and stages of life.
Morality:
What is wrong and what is right? What is the ethical system? For Hindu s, morality comes in

Man Cannot Live Without God
The question Can man live without God? is interesting because most people would argue that it
depends on worldview. However through a careful analysis of The Scarlet Letter and Ravi
Zacharias book Can Man Live Without God a definitive answer can be concluded. The depiction
of God s role in The Scarlet Letter, the antitheistic worldview described in Can Man Live Without
God, and a look into how God affects life today will provide more than satisfactory information to
conclude that man cannot live without God.
The Scarlet Letter is a brilliant novel depicting the life of Hester Prynne after having an affair with
a local reverend. Hester Prynne, at first ravenous and distraught in her jail cell, soon overcomes
her situation by finding peace in her daughter Pearl. Even though the rest of the city has shunned
her, Hester credits God for blessing her with a wonderful daughter from her sinful affair. However,
every coin has two sides. Hester s lover, and Pearl s father, Rev. Dimmesdale finds himself in an
increasingly worse situation. Dimmesdale, not having the same closure that Hester did in Pearl,
begins to become filled with guilt and worry. This eventually leads to him developing a heart

Database Backup and Disaster Recovery for ABC Company
A backup and recovery plan is necessary for the databases that the ABC Company uses for its
business needs. In the event of a natural disaster, human error, hardware failure, or any other
corruption or loss of data, backup and recovery measures will mean the difference between an
inconvenience and a catastrophic loss of company data. The following report addresses various
options for backupand recovery, and proposes what measures ABC Inc should adopt for its SQL
Server 2012 servers.
Database Backup SQL Server 2012 supports three scopes of backup and an additional special
purpose backup type. The first of the three backup types is whole database which as its name
implies, backs up the entire database. A partial database backup backs up read/write filegroups
and, possibly, one or more read only files or filegroups according to Microsoft (n.d.). File or
filegroup backups are conducted on singe file or filegroups. Finally, a copy only backup is an
out of schedule backup that is initiated for a special purpose, and does not affect the normal
cycle of backups. When a backup is conducted, it can be a full backup or a differential backup. A

Systems, Society and Sustainability
The global challenge of sustainable development requires solutions and mindsets that bridge
traditional divisions between nature and culture, and the technical and social sciences. Sustainable
development requires that engineers and other professionals are able to include social and
ecological considerations alongside technical and economic requirements in managing projects and
infrastructure. This course outlines the challenges of sustainability, introduces some theories which
can help think through these challenges more clearly, and applies them to the case of urban water
systems.

Frank Lloyd Wright Research Paper
Frank Lloyd Wright s name remains in history as being one of the most original American
architects of the 20th century. Wright s innovative architectural designs have forever impacted the
way humans live today. His world renounced projects make his name widely known as one of
greatest architects of all time. Wright was born in Richland Center, Wisconsin on June 8, 1867.
Throughout Wright s childhood, his family often relocated, ranging from Rhode Island to
Wisconsin. As a child Wright was an adventure seeker and embraced Wisconsin landscapes.

The Failure of Technology in White Noise by Don Delillo...
The Failure of Technology in White Noise by Don Delillo
One particularly unfortunate trait of modern society is our futile attempt to use technology to
immunize ourselves against the fear of death. The failure of technology in this regard is the
general subject of Don Delillo s book White Noise. Throughout this novel, technology is depicted
as the ominous messenger of our common fate, an increasing sense of dread over loss of control
of our lives and the approach of inevitable death in spite of the empty promises of technology. In
this essay I will examine Delillo s portrayal of technology and its role in our society.

Jack Gladney is on his fifth marriage and his fourth wife, and his world is filled with the clutter
of everyday life, with four children around the house and an uneasy sense of normalcy . Delillo,
however, exposes how absurd what we consider to be normal really is in our technology dependent
society and our compulsive desire to have machines save us from ourselves and reaffirm our
personal identities:
In the morning I walked to the bank. I went to the automated teller machine to check my balance. I
inserted my card, entered my secret code, tapped out my request. The figure on the screen roughly
corresponded to my independent estimate, feebly arrived at after long searches through documents,
tormented arithmetic. Waves of relief and gratitude flowed over me. The system had blessed my
life. I felt its support and approval. The system hardware, the mainframe sitting in a locked room in
some distant city. What a pleasing interaction. I sensed that something of deep personal value, but
not money, not that at all, had been authenticated and confirmed (42).
One day an industrial accident occurs and a lethal black chemical cloud descends upon the town.
Jack is forced to stop and fill up his tank as his family attempts to comply with the evacuation

Improving Performance Management Strategies And Alignment...
RECOMMENDATIONS
The following section provides recommendations based on the data obtained during the study.
Recommendations will be presented for ways to improve consistency in Performance Management
strategies and alignment between and organizational goals, and therefore increase overall
performance.
Timeliness
Under the current system the year end review occurs at the earliest in March. In order to create a
forward thinking performance management approach within the year end review, it should be
given by the end of January. Discussing goals and ways to move forward must occur when the
employee has an opportunity to improve their performance and achieve the established goals.
Training
Managers should receive training on the individual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Implement 360 degree Appraisal Although performance cannot be judge alone with 360 degree
assessment, it provides a commentary aspect that will assist an organization in Leadership
Development and Succession Planning. Including the 360 degree appraisal in the performance
management process will provide a broader perspective about an employee s performance and
detail to annual appraisal. In addition, the technique facilitates greater self development for an
employee. Moreover, it enables an employee to compare his or her self evaluation about
performance with the perceptions of others.
Management via App
Many companies are transitioning to the use of Apps to provide ongoing feedback to their
employees. General Electric, a company famous for their year end reviews has scrapped them
and now uses an App process. The new app is called PD@GE for performance development at
GE . Managers are expected to have frequent discussions, called touch points, on progress toward
those goals and note what was discussed, committed to, and resolved. The app can provide
summaries on command, through typed notes, photographs of a notepad, or even voice recordings.
The focus isn t on grading how well people are doing, but on constant improvement (Nilsen, 2015).
Employees can give or request feedback at any point through a feature called insights, which isn t

Spanish Colonization Essay
Improvements in technology, religious conflict, and expanding trade all affected oceanic crossing
and exploration. Although each country colonized at different times and rates, the reasoning behind
exploration was relatively the same. The French, Spanish and English exploration traveled to the
Americas for either one or all of these reasons: gold, power and God. Once in America, these three
countries all had very diverse ways of colonizing. But, altogether most of the Europeans had a
negative affect on the Natives who already inhabited America. The Spanish had the largest
colonization throughout America, they had settlements in present day Florida, New Mexico, Texas
and California. The men who explored these areas, Conquistadors, sent ships... Show more content

They were hoping to find a passage to Asia. French claims began in 1534 because of Jacques
Cartier, but like the English they were slow to colonize. European wars, conflict the the Roman
Catholic Church were both large reasons why French colonization did not happen sooner.
Eventually, Samuel Champlain established the first French colonization on the St. Lawrence
river in 1608. In 1673 Louis Jolliet and Father Jacques explored the Mississippi river, and in
1682 Robert de La sale explored the Mississippi Basin. Unlike the English and Spanish the
French viewed Indians as military and economic allies. They built trading posts throughout the
St.Lawrence valley and the coast of the Mississippi river, where they exchanged French trade
with pelts and fur collected by Indians. The French were not as large as the English and Spanish
so they did not pose a large threat to the natives. Altogether, these three European Countries
changed the world forever. Europe s population grew and there was a shift from feudalism to
capitalism. For the Natives and Africans colonization was much more negative. Diseases killed
many Indians, but Horses and Guns brought from Europe transformed their hunting and warfare.
Slave trade was also greatly increased due to the colonization. Today there are many debates on if
Columbus voyage was positive or negative, but no mater what people believe, without American
colonization the world would be drastically

The Simpsons Satire
During the late 1980s, The Simpsons, was introduced as an animated cartoon show and has
tremendously grown into a popularity of the American culture. Matt Groening, creator and
executive producer of The Simpsons, has displayed twenty seven seasons for over thirty years on
20th Century Fox Television. Jesssamyn Nehaus, doctor and avid popular media consumer, states
the following, In...respect, the show very much reflects the sensibilities of its originator, Matt

In the past, the acceptance of homosexuality was extremely difficult, as it has now been
embraced by society. One episode in particular, Homer s Phobia, first aired in 1997, the
Simpsons family decide to visit a collectibles shop, where they meet the store dealer, John. The
family and John become friendly, leading to Homer wanting to invite him and his wife for dinner
next time. However, Marge eventually tells Homer that John is gay; Homer is completely shocked
and instantaneously, his attitude and demeanor changes toward John. The hyper irony behind this
episode is a reflection of the way American society is portrayed; through the television show, the
depiction of homosexuality aids American society to take charge of whom they are as an
individual. Carl Matheson, a philosopher, states the following, Furthermore, this process of

The Effects Of Physical Inactivity On Human Body
Background
Its widely known that physical inactivity has enormous negative health effects. Poor cardio
respiratory fitness, adiposity, impaired glucose toler ance, hypertension, and arteriosclerosis are
independent threats to health and that physical inactivity increases the risk for premature death
(Lars). The negative health effects of physical inactivity are numerous. Examples are high blood
pressure, increased risk of diabetes, increased stress and depression, and shorter life expectancy. It
is clear that not being physically active takes a large toll on the human body. There are many
different ways that an individual can turn their life around. Anything from going for a walk or
going from a 5 mile run will make a lasting effect. Some people take exercise to the extreme and use
high intensity training.
During intense exercise the body gets pushed to its limits. The cardiovascular system is one that is
pushed to its bounds. While at rest the heart is beating at about 70 beats per minute. During vigorous
exercise, the heart rate increases dramatically. The general rule to find the maximum heart rate is
taking 206.9 (0.67 x age) (Waehner). For an average 20 year old, that is about 194 beats per
minute which is over double the heart at rest. The increase in heart rate is because it is doing
everything it can to push blood to the muscles during that time. The muscles demand 50% of the
blood flow during intensive exercise, whereas they only demand 10% while at rest

Anna writes through poem that this act is unjust and should not happen to such a creature.
Through the use of the poem she tries to tell the scientist Beware, lest in the worm you crush, a

different from taking the life of a fellow man. The poems theme is effective and pushes the reader
to feel sorrow for the poor mouse. In To a Mouse by Robert Burns, the ongoing themes are guilt
and fear. Burns knows what mice are up to, stealing his food from his crops and ruining his walls
within his home to make homes of their own. Burns however, does not care because he himself
feels guilty for the little mice. Burns feels like even though they may be a nuisance to some
humans, the mice have no choice but to do these things to live to see another day. I doubt na,
whiles, but thou may thieve; What then? Poor beastie, thou maun live! (Burns l.13 14) Burns
explains why he is not bothered that the mice steal his food. Burns also has the theme of fear in
his poem. The mice fear men, and for good reason, Burns is aware of this and makes minimal
effort to scare the mice while they are at work. An justifies that ill opinion which makes thee startle,
(Burns, l.9 10) Burns discusses how the fear mice have for men is due to the brutes who have no
patience to understand what the mice go through. While the two poems have different themes, one

Hair Loss And Hair Thinning
Hair loss and hair thinning can be a major issue for both men and women. Our hair serves as our
crown every day, representing our style and personality. In women, hair care is very important
since the old days. Maintaining good hair is now a growing trend in older women to avert negative
image of aging.
Hair is a beautiful part of human biology. Did you know that the human scalp has at least
100,000 hair follicles? The hair grows in an even rate by about half an inch per month or six
inches each year. The hair grows from the root or bottom of the follicle, while the blood vessels
nourish the root. Oil glands provide the necessary chemicals to keep the hair shiny and soft. Every
food or medication you have taken recently may be reflected on your hair, the reason why
chemical analysis of the human hair is used as a diagnostic tool.
Hair loss does not automatically indicate a health problem. We lose about 50 to 100 hairs a day
and that is perfectly normal. The indication of abnormal hair loss is when your hair falls out in
clumps, visual signs of thinning, and exposure of large parts of your scalp. Some women can
experience hair loss during menopause while men suffer from baldness due to genetics. There are
other factors that can cause hair loss, such as diet, stress, and lifestyle habits.
1. Androgenetic alopecia is the most common type of hair loss caused by genetics. The condition
can lead to baldness and hereditary thinning. About 80 million people in the United States, both
men and women, suffer from this type of hair loss.
2. Certain medical conditions, such as diabetes and lupus, may contribute to hair loss. Alopecia
areata or other autoimmune disorders cause the immune cells to attack your own hair, leading to
hair thinning and hair loss. Diabetes slows down the process of hair growth and having the disease
can make you vulnerable to alopecia areata. Thyroid disorders like hypothyroidism and
hyperthyroidism can also cause hair to fall out.
3. Insufficient nutrition can disrupt the hair growth cycle. Certain deficiencies affect the growth of
hair cells, which slows down the cycle and results in unhealthy hair texture. According to a hair and
scalp specialist Dr. Lisa Caddy, eating a healthy and

There was a man named John Barleycorn that died from drinking too much alcohol. After that
more people began thinking that drinking alcohol was very dangerous and that it would cause
diseases. There also was a man named Dr. Benjamin Rush. He was a well known physician. He
also wrote a book in 1784, which taught that drinking little amounts of wine and beer would not
harm you very much, but drinking rum and whisky would cause death and diseases. Congress
voted and approved of the amendment in January 1919, and enacted it in to law as the National
Prohibition Act of 1920. After the Eighteenth Amendment was passed, Congress had to make a
maximum amount of alcohol that beverages could contain. They then passed the Volstead Act.
This act was far more severe than anyone expected. The Act put the maximum alcoholic content
at 0.05 percent. By comparison, today s beers have between 4 and 6 percent alcohol, 100 times
more than the Volstead Act allowed. Whiskey had around 50 percent alcohol (Noble). Most
people were very shocked at how low the act actually put the alcohol limit. A Literary Digest poll
taken in 1922 found that 40 percent of respondents favored allowing light beer and wine. The poll
also found that 62 percent of working men favored lenient enforcement of prohibition (Noble).

messaging systems (SMS) is becoming more mainstream due to the exponential increase in cell
phone usage and other mobile devices. From messages sent through Twitter to emergency
notifications broadcast through mobile networks, the short messaging systems is becoming more
ubiquitous. In our paper, we will present the modeling approach for SMS that will lead to the
Simple Reliability Model and the Advanced Analytical Model. We will use the NS 2 Simulator to

ancient city of Hamunaptra. Hamunaptra is known for the ancient burial site for the sons of

One of them were Anck Su Namun which was the Pharaoh s mistress. The role she played was

Photography Is A Culture, Not Just A Medium
INTRODUCTION
Photography is a culture, not just a medium. Photography has been used as an exploitative tool, an
explorative tool, and an artistic tool. A photograph can be a snapshot of time, a record, a detail, a
shift, a perspective, an emotion. In curating photography, I had to learn how to create conversations
and comparisons between images, whilst simultaneously letting each work retain its individuality.
There is no one meaning in a photograph. The intrinsically challenging task was to provide points
of entry into the works and elucidate the broad theme of the exhibition, whilst allowing counter
narratives and alternative readings to exist.
THE PRELIMINARY PROCESS
Working with an established collection like The University of AucklandArt Collection, curators
need to work creatively in order to produce an exhibition that is both innovative and adequately
represents the collection. The University of Auckland Collection includes approximately 140
photographs that are situated around the various campuses and storage facilities. With such a range
to choose from, we approached the task in a practical way. We initially surveyed the works and
found a broad theme emerging images of architecture and nature. Due to the range of locations
housing the pieces, it was important to then establish the works that could be transported to the
venue in time, and from these, we selected a more specific theme.
The Collection was established in 1966 with works from Colin McCahon and

Tagore s reputation as a writer was established in the United States and in England after the
publication of GITANJALI: SONG OFFERINGS, about divine and human love. The poems were
translated into English by the author himself. In the introduction from 1912 William Butler Yates
wrote: These lyrics which are in the original, my Indians tell me, full of subtlety of rhythm, of
untranslatable delicacies of colour, of metrical invention display in their thought a world I have
dreamed of all my life long. Tagore s poems were also praised by Ezra Pound, and drew the

religious sect in nineteenth century Bengal and which attempted a revival of the ultimate monistic
basis of Hinduism as laid down in the Upanishads. He was educated at home; and although at
seventeen he was sent to England for formal schooling, he did not finish his studies there. In his

social reforms. He also started an experimental school at Shantiniketan where he tried his
Upanishadic ideals of education. From time to time he participated in the Indian nationalist

classes had no chance. The main function of women was to cook, clean, and take care of their

of farmers learned how to help their husbands in the field.
Chinese women invented many ways to overcome these limitations, they created and developed a

Essay on Impact of West Nile Virus on Humans
The Impact of West Nile Virus on Humans (or Why We Should Worry)
West Nile virus can infect humans, but there are more drastic ways that it affects our lives. The
virus normally lives in birds and is transmitted among them and other animals by mosquitoes. There
is no other definite method of transmission, and people do not have to worry about contracting the
virus through contact with infected humans or animals. Hundreds of species of birds and many
mammals, including several endangered species, are vulnerable to the virus. Many domestic
animals are also susceptible, but the virus does not create any symptoms in most of them. There is
no way of getting rid of the virus once an animal has been infected, but a vaccine for horses has ...

numbness, and paralysis. Because West Nile is a virus, it cannot be cured by antibiotics. People
who display serious symptoms are given supportive treatment, which may include intravenous fluids
and respiratory support until they recover (CDC, 2004).
Animals found in the wild are also susceptible to West Nile virus. It is fatal to up to 285 species of

avian family Corvidae, which includes crows, ravens, magpies, and jays (CDC, 2003), are
especially vulnerable to West Nile virus, as seen during the 1999 New York epidemic, when
hundreds of crows died from the virus. Other animals that have been found carrying the virus
include squirrels, chipmunks, skunks, and bats (Lee, 2003). Although humans do not have to worry
about becoming infected by West Nile virus by handling infected animals, they should be aware that
reports of animals that have died from the virus is an indication that there are mosquitoes that are
carrying the virus in the area. Some endangered or threatened species are also susceptible to West
Nile virus, including Asian elephants, great Indian rhinoceros,

I Have Always Loved Science Since A Young Age
I have always loved science since a young age. During high school, I began experimenting with
all the different science classes, that the school had to offer. Out of all of those classes I found the
one that brought an incredible amount of fascination. That class was Botany where I had studied
plants and learned their functions. I learned about how they grow from a seed to how they
reproduce. Even with that class, I have always found that plants bring a certain amount of curiosity.
I had dreamt many ways to the perfect yard with all sorts of plantspecies. The yard would be
overflowing with plants. Also, the house would have so many plants inside that it would be a
jungle. The courses required for botanyare very heavy with science. I know that I will be taking
fifteen different science classes. I looked forward to the challenges that each class will bring.
During the time in my freshman year, I would like to know what reading and writing, I will need
for botany also known as plant science.
I looked in greater detail into Botany, I came to very interesting details about what my major will
include. I gathered all sorts of facts from different sources about Botany. Plant science is a hand on
very skilled profession. It requires a lot of experience and skills to work in the basic field of it.
Botany is very broad science of plants. Different scientist studies certain parts of plants and their
functions. Including their physiology, structure, genetics, ecology, distribution,

When The Elephants Dance Summary
The book entitled When the Elephants Dance by Tess Uriza Holthe is a fiction novel based in
the capital of the Philippines called Manila. The book took place during World War II when the
Japanese occupied the Philippines. The book was very interesting as the author, Holthe, made
the reader feel as if he/she was experiencing the action. I liked the book because of its great
explanation and because it was told in three different perspectives. I did not like the quick
transitions into storytelling because I got a little confused while reading. In this book, there was a
family who lived in Manila, Philippines during the Japanese occupation during World War II. This
family faced the many struggles of the war as they tried to shelter each other in their home so no
one would be in harm s way. When one person went out to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

them. General McArthur had left for Australia [due to] personal orders of Roosevelt in March,
leaving behind 80,000 soldiers who were later ordered to surrender [in May of 1942] (Hailstork

soldiers forced to surrender were then forced to face the Bataan Death March, a walk to a prison

Building A Conventional Sewage Treatment Facility
As in the case of rural non point source pollution; urban areas are not likely to fix all
contamination problems with one system. While it may be possible to build a conventional sewage
treatment facility that can handle any storm condition it is not likely that this will ever be cost
feasible to do. One type of larger combined sewage system that is being tried in several locations
around the county where proper topography allows is the aquatic marsh system. In this type of
system sewage still goes through the primary treatment of separation out the larger solids. Once
these solids have settled out it move on to the secondary treatment where it undergoes another

While the wet land treatment system is very effective in treating large quantities of sewage it still
falls short of the large problem. It still is not treating the problem at its source. There are other
options and systems that are in place to deal with urban pollution issues and flooding. Some
example of systems that have the potential to mitigate urban at their source are implementing low
impact development, installation of sand filters, infiltration trenches permeable pavers, storm water
planters and green roofs. Low impact development (LID) is not a new concept but is still
considered innovated when being discussed. LID is a storm water management program that

land more efficiently, and help to lower cost. Site planning includes, minimizing areas of

Overview Of Lucrece And Titus Andronicus
In many ways, Shakespeare writes Rome from an anthropomorphized perspective, with some of his
characters so much an embodiment of the culture that one may argue it is direct representation. In
Shakespeare s Lucrece and Titus Andronicus, the protagonists represent the current culture of
Rome, it is their respective deaths that signify the birth of a new Rome. Contrarily, the antagonists
in the aforementioned tales actually seem to manifest as an anti Rome, their distinct lack of the
upheld roman attributes lead to their downfall. For this reason, Rome is argued by many to be a
character in and of itself in Shakespeare s various works. Rome is a character that speaks only
through the mouth of its most loyal citizens, it weaves its way through... Show more content on

Sextus Tarquinius is already a powerful figure in Rome, he uses this to his advantage when
asking Lucrece for lodgings. As an upstanding member of Roman society, Lucrece assumes that
this man is safe. His dishonour is shown most predominantly however when he confidently
attempts to manipulate Lucrece by insisting that her lack of compliance will culminate in her
husband s shame. He tells her, ...some worthless slave of thine I ll slay, / To kill thine honour
with thy life s decay . In this deplorable act of cunning Sextus is the victor, he gets what he wants
from her with no true struggle and is assured that his wrongdoing will reap no consequence.
Tamora differs from Sextus as she does not start out in power, she begins as a prisoner of war
and rises as the new wife of Saturninus. Tamora gains the upper hand by manipulating her
husband and sons into doing her bidding. Tamora essentially has control over the crown and has
two brutes ready at her beck and call. Her goal is outlined within the second act when she
proclaims I ll find a day to massacre them all (2.1.453) She manages to obtain much of the justice
she had sought after, managing to truly dent the might of the Andronicus family. Not only is she the
cause of Lavinia s rape and mutilation but the death of Bassianuss, Martius, and Quintus. Tamora s
plans of revenge seem to be unstoppable, she truly holds the upper hand

Inca Civil War Research Paper
Ariel Durant wrote, A great civilization is not conquered from without until it has destroyed itself
from within. The Inca Civil War was the beginning of the downfall of the largest civilization in the
Americas. The Inca Civil War lasted from 1529 until April 1532 in Peru and Ecuador. The
administrative, political, and military center of the empire was located in Cuzco (modern day Peru).
The Incacivilization arose from the highlands of Peru sometime in the early 13th century. The
Incas had no written language. Most of what is known about the Incas come from artifacts and the
Spaniards. The Inca Civil War was a war between two brothers, Huascar and Atahualpa, that took
place after their father Huayna Capac. Huascar and Atahualpa both doomed suitable for the
succession of the Inca Empire so, the war began. The Inca Civil War was a conflict that divided a
civilization, resulted in significant changes that made the empire more vulnerable and caused the
downfall of the Inca civilization.
II. Origin, Lifestyle, and Religion

The Growth of the Labour Party and the Decline of the Liberal Party
At the end of World War One in November 1918 the Labour Party emerged as a strong political
Party. Prior to this it was the Liberal Party that was expected to be the main opposition to the
Conservatives, with Labour as a party who used the popularity of the Liberals to become noticed.
However, it soon became apparent that the Liberals were a weak and flagging party who were
unable to unite as one to make decisions. It is evident that the First World War may have been an
important factor in the growth of Labour and the decline of the Liberals.
It seems that the decline of the Liberals began with several problems that can be traced back to pre
war times. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Liberals were hesitant to support women s suffrage because it was hard to know whom
women would vote for. Between 1911 and 1914 the Suffragettes became increasingly militant as
the Liberals refused to find parliamentary time to debate the question. The party claimed the issue
was a constitutional not a moral question . The suffragette issue damaged the Liberals as their
evident reluctance to treat it as a matter of belief weakened their moral standing. Their failure to
resolve the issue proved to be a political embarrassment.
Between 1908 and 1914 the position of Trade Unions legally improved, but these years also saw
the most active period of Trade Union action. This included industrial unrest and much strike
action. Two reasons have been given to justify this industrial unrest: syndicalism or a response to
the current social and economic conditions. However, it is possible that the Liberal government
were to blame for this industrial unrest. They were accused of not taking quick enough action to
reverse the Osbourne judgement (where Trade Unions could not ask for a political levy) which
was a great embarrassment to them. The political levy was declared illegal in 1909 after a union
used part of the fees to fund the Labour Party. There was then a feeling that Liberals were
determined to undermine the Labour

  • 2. Racism For Dummies How to deal with Racism for Dummies: AP Lit Edition With an ever growing and diversifying population, race is a term that people have become more accustomed to. Many would say that as a society, American citizens have taken steps to subdue and reduce racism. Others may say that the government itself has adopted institutional policies to prevent racism. If such were to be true, considering that those actions to fight racism have existed for at least a century, why is one not able to see that those efforts to fight racism may be ineffective? Society for the past decades has built a manner in which we assume that racism is wrong. Despite those efforts, hundreds of issues concerning racecontinue occurring. Rather than taking perspective that racism is wrong, society should have a more active focus on the population by providing education on how to respond correctly to issues that can concern... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With this ideology, society as a whole can act against racism to a more efficient extent. Instead of just simply simply stating racism is wrong, people will be able to learn to respond properly respond to racism as how Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer have; society will have a more tangible impact towards racism. For decades, the racism was viewed along a motif that it is wrongful. It is present in law, literature, arts, and simple morals. Many of those steps that society has taken focuses upon highlighting the damage that racism causes to both an individual and society, yet, controversial racial issues occur at an alarming rate. The first recorded major effort to subdue racism was the 14th amendment, being approximately 150 years. Since then, this direction has integrated into society in which people are taught that treating people differently according to race is wrongful. With that a effort for at least a century and such problems persisting, Thomson Reuter argues, [that] it should be a clear indicator that the current stance against ... However, the laws enacted are general provisions that do not explain how they should be used. The laws derived from these agencies are known as state administrative laws; moreover, these laws have an impact on ELs. • 4. The Melancholic Tone of The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe Essay The Melancholic Tone of The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe Edgar Allan Poe s The Raven, is representing Poe s own introvertedness, which is strangely moving and attractive to the reader. In his essay entitled The Philosophy of Composition, Poe reveals his intent in writing The Raven and also describes the work of writing the poem as being carefully calculated in all aspects. Of all melancholy topics, Poe wished to use the most understood, death, specifically death involving a beautiful woman. The tone in Edgar Allan Poe s The Raven represents a painful state of mind, a mind that is vulnerable to madness that is brought upon by the death of his beloved lady. The raven patronizes Poe that he will never see his lost love again when uttering, forget this lost Lenore (Thompson, 83). Alcohol taunts Poe into never ending depression and caused Poe to have a life long problem with alcoholism, which led to his death. In a similar way that the alcohol explored Poe s inner devastation, the raven gives a look into the narrator s innermost fears that he will never see his Lenore again. In the first stanza, questioning from what direction the tapping came, he throws open the door, the narrators nemesis not to be found. In fact it was some other realm that must have been opened up about his lost love and the noise, which is driving him insane. The narrator then opens the shutter, which could be interpreted as opening his soul to the outside world. To his surprise, he discovers a raven, a beast upon the sculptured bust above his chamber door (Thompson, 53). The raven directs all further action in the poem, it ridicules and patronizes the narrator throughout the poem and its evil force creates a sense of suffering and anguish within the character. The climax of the poem is when the narrator faces his confused and disordered world and in the narrator s madness he cries out, Get thee back into the tempest and the Night s Plutonian shore! (Thompson, 98). Poe s use of symbolism was influential in making the literary reputation of The Raven . The raven is symbolized as the narrator s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I decided to write about Erich Fromm and Victor Frankl. I feel as though both are very important theorist and they reflect us in everyday life. Erich Fromm was a German social analyst and psychoanalyst, who related to the Frankfurt School of basic hypothesis. He was known for building up the idea that opportunity was a key a portion of human instinct, and for testing the hypotheses of Sigmund Freud. In the wake of treating a great many individuals over the four years he was there, Frankl took a position as the leader of the neurological division at the Rothschild Hospital, one of only a handful couple of offices that permitted Jews to practice medication around then. In 1942, Frankl and his folks, spouse, and sibling were captured and sent to the Thereisienstadt death camp; Frankl s dad kicked the bucket there inside six months. • 7. The Influence Of The March On Washington William P. Jones s The March on Washington begins by highlighting A. Philip Randolph, a black labor unionist and civil rights advocate, who attempted to organize a March on Washington in 1941. Although Randolph s original march failed to come to fruition, the novel depicts the proceedings as a prerequisite to the 1963 march. Depicting Randolph as a central figure to the March on Washington Movement, the novel tells the story of the events leading up to and through the March on Washington that took place on August 28, 1963. Although the majority of the focus of The March on Washington revolves around the actions of A. Philip Randolphand his mostly male peripheral contacts before the march, I argue that the capacity and framework of the foundations of the 1963 March on Washington were substantially influenced by the actions of prominent black female leaders. The March on Washington of 1941 s was a response to President Roosevelt s inability to address the problems associated with discrimination and segregation in the labor sectors of federally funded defense industries and in every sector of the military (26, 27, and 30). A. Philip Randolph originally predicted that 10,00 people would attend the march, but as the march approached the numbers increased from 10,00 to 50,00 to 100,00 Negro laborers, domestics, mechanics, professionals would arrive at the Capital for the march (Jones, 37). Why did Randolph expect such an increase in numbers, and where did he think these people would come from? It is likely that Randolph s confidence stemmed from the recognition that his movement was informally backed due to pressure from Jeanetta Welch on Mary McLeod Bethune, the president of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) by the NCNW (Jones, 34). As Randolph s most prominent backer, the NCNW consisted of a network of women s clubs and sororities, like Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA), who sent an avalanche of more than 3000 letters, telegrams and long distance telephone calls to white house officials, whose entire membership exceeded 800,000 (Jones, 34). Without the support of NCNW Randolph wouldn t have had the capacity needed to intimidate the nation s president with the possibility of 100,000 mass marchers. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is to highlight the fact that the girl has been killed in a very brutal and painful way and that nobody could help her, even if they wanted to. It also tells the audience that the shark is creepy, awful and unstoppable. This shark characterisation helped the director to build tension more effectively before the future attacks. Just like silence, music can also be used to scare the audience. An example of this is the loudness of the theme tune increasing as the shark is getting closer to its prey. It tells us that the attack is about to begin and lets us know that the person attacked will die, we know that he or she could not survive as previous victims had not survived. In the second attack a lot of camera techniques have been used to help build tension and scare the audience. The scene began with a straight, long shot of a 10 year old boy, Alex, going to his mother to ask for more time in the water. The straight shot was used to show equality, to make the audience feel as they are in the same place with all tourists on the beach. This did not build any tension because nothing was going to happen at that point. When Maybelle treated Pete poorly and ignored him, Pete did the same to Sucker. Symbolism Of Power In William Golding s Lord Of The Flies Trace Draper Ms. Tantlinger Honors English 10 2 January 2018 Power can be used for the greater good, or power can be used to advance personal agenda As Golding s Lord of the Flies develops, power does also. When a group of boys are stranded on an island, the boys power shifts dramatically. The boys fight for powerand savagery increases as the time on the island increases. The island was split into groups due to Jacks fiend for power, this was the cause of all evil on the island. Power on the island causes murder and great destruction. The conch is a symbol for power and order, and Ralph controls the privilege of holding the power. When Jack s character is introduced in chapter 2 he is already fighting for the power of the conch with Ralph. The conches role was very significant in early chapters to keep the boys on the same page but the power of the conch was quickly lost to Jacks uprising. Jack s power takes over him and turns him into a savage creating destruction to the whole island. They painted their faces like savages (Golding 163). Jacks way of proving himself to the rest of the island was to kill the pig. He did this not for the food but to show his dominance. Power later leads to destruction when Jack and his tribe kills Simon. Simon s role on the island was almost a spiritual figure to Ralph. He was able to inform Ralph many things about the island and how it could affect the group of boys. Jack had no remorse after the killing and made it seem ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Krishna and Hinduism Worldview Essays Condition: The question of condition, or problem, mainly focuses on what is wrong with the world and your surroundings or with yourself. In the Krishna and Hinduism world view, the problem is the illusion, or Maya, that people tend to build about themselves and what surrounds them. Maya is when people see themselves as something separate instead of the common Hindu belief that all things are connected. Maya brings ignorance, attachment, and reincarnation into the lives of people. People start thinking that they are the most important thing around and do not think about the harm that they may bring to others and mainly their own souls. They start betraying and killing for simple desires instead of for ones own good. By being this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These two ways of fixing the problem are explained by Krishna to Arjuna in the Bhagavad Gita. Arjuna is set to fight in a battle but in the last minute he twirls around the idea of retreating because of the fear of dying and killing. He believes that the act of killing will be bad in karma. Krishna is outraged with this non sense and makes it his duty to open Arjuna s eyes to see and realize that he has a duty and that it is to be a warrior and fight. Krishna argues that by not fulfilling his duty in reality will be what brings him the bad karma that he so truly fears. In the end, Arjuna can not back down into his fears because that would be like turning your back on the God. A Hindu must follow their duties, beliefs, and many rituals in order to reach their inner peace, to receive good karma and possibly a better ranking in the caste system and stages of life. Morality: What is wrong and what is right? What is the ethical system? For Hindu s, morality comes in following the responsibilities of their caste system which include (in ... • 16. Man Can Not Live Without God J. Michael Carpenter AP English Duhram 8/7/16 Man Cannot Live Without God The question Can man live without God? is interesting because most people would argue that it depends on worldview. However through a careful analysis of The Scarlet Letter and Ravi Zacharias book Can Man Live Without God a definitive answer can be concluded. The depiction of God s role in The Scarlet Letter, the antitheistic worldview described in Can Man Live Without God, and a look into how God affects life today will provide more than satisfactory information to conclude that man cannot live without God. The Scarlet Letter is a brilliant novel depicting the life of Hester Prynne after having an affair with a local reverend. Hester Prynne, at first ravenous and distraught in her jail cell, soon overcomes her situation by finding peace in her daughter Pearl. Even though the rest of the city has shunned her, Hester credits God for blessing her with a wonderful daughter from her sinful affair. However, every coin has two sides. Hester s lover, and Pearl s father, Rev. Dimmesdale finds himself in an increasingly worse situation. Dimmesdale, not having the same closure that Hester did in Pearl, begins to become filled with guilt and worry. This eventually leads to him developing a heart condition and unknowingly seeking treatment from Hester s fiendish long lost husband, Roger Chillingworth. • 18. Database Backup and Disaster Recovery for ABC Company A backup and recovery plan is necessary for the databases that the ABC Company uses for its business needs. In the event of a natural disaster, human error, hardware failure, or any other corruption or loss of data, backup and recovery measures will mean the difference between an inconvenience and a catastrophic loss of company data. The following report addresses various options for backupand recovery, and proposes what measures ABC Inc should adopt for its SQL Server 2012 servers. Database Backup SQL Server 2012 supports three scopes of backup and an additional special purpose backup type. The first of the three backup types is whole database which as its name implies, backs up the entire database. A partial database backup backs up read/write filegroups and, possibly, one or more read only files or filegroups according to Microsoft (n.d.). File or filegroup backups are conducted on singe file or filegroups. Finally, a copy only backup is an out of schedule backup that is initiated for a special purpose, and does not affect the normal cycle of backups. When a backup is conducted, it can be a full backup or a differential backup. A full backup will copy the entire database, while a differential backup will backup only the changes that have been made since the last backup was conducted. Whole, partial, and file /filegroup backups all can be full or differential backups. A copy only backup can only be a full backup because it does not change the transaction log, and ... • 30. Hair Loss And Hair Thinning Hair loss and hair thinning can be a major issue for both men and women. Our hair serves as our crown every day, representing our style and personality. In women, hair care is very important since the old days. Maintaining good hair is now a growing trend in older women to avert negative image of aging. Hair is a beautiful part of human biology. Did you know that the human scalp has at least 100,000 hair follicles? The hair grows in an even rate by about half an inch per month or six inches each year. The hair grows from the root or bottom of the follicle, while the blood vessels nourish the root. Oil glands provide the necessary chemicals to keep the hair shiny and soft. Every food or medication you have taken recently may be reflected on your hair, the reason why chemical analysis of the human hair is used as a diagnostic tool. Hair loss does not automatically indicate a health problem. We lose about 50 to 100 hairs a day and that is perfectly normal. The indication of abnormal hair loss is when your hair falls out in clumps, visual signs of thinning, and exposure of large parts of your scalp. Some women can experience hair loss during menopause while men suffer from baldness due to genetics. There are other factors that can cause hair loss, such as diet, stress, and lifestyle habits. 1. Androgenetic alopecia is the most common type of hair loss caused by genetics. The condition can lead to baldness and hereditary thinning. About 80 million people in the United States, both men and women, suffer from this type of hair loss. 2. Certain medical conditions, such as diabetes and lupus, may contribute to hair loss. Alopecia areata or other autoimmune disorders cause the immune cells to attack your own hair, leading to hair thinning and hair loss. Diabetes slows down the process of hair growth and having the disease can make you vulnerable to alopecia areata. Thyroid disorders like hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism can also cause hair to fall out. 3. Insufficient nutrition can disrupt the hair growth cycle. Certain deficiencies affect the growth of hair cells, which slows down the cycle and results in unhealthy hair texture. We will use the NS 2 Simulator to simulate the output that consists of a server and numerous mobile nodes. We will compare the analytical models to our simulation results. Key Words: Analytical models, mobile technology, wireless networks 1. Introduction Short messages sent from mobile devices to other mobile devices are an essential way of instant communication. The use of applications that rely on short messaging such as Twitter allow fixed line and mobile phone devices to exchange short text messages. It is estimated that approximately 3.5 billion mobile phone subscribers use SMS data applications. From 2010 to 2012, over six trillion text messages were sent. This translates to an average of nearly 200,000 SMS text messages sent per second [3]. The nodes used in short messaging systems include the user equipment (UE) such as ... Hamunaptra is known for the ancient burial site for the sons of pharaohs and also the resting place for the wealth of Egypt. There is were women in the movie. One of them were Anck Su Namun which was the Pharaoh s mistress. The role she played was to be high priest Imhotep s lover. She sacrificed her life in order to let Imhotep escape after killing the Pharaoh, Seti. Imhotep and his priests attempts to resurrect Anck Su Namun, but just as the ritual was about to be complete, Pharoah s soldiers stopped him and mummified his priests alive. Imhotep suffered the worst possible case because he was the one leading the assassination of the pharaoh. He was condemned to face Hom Dai, which was one of the worse ancient curses. After being mummified, he was forever sealed inside his sarcophagus. If he were to be released from his sarcophagus, he would reborn as a walking disease that would spread and plague everything in his way. Photography has been used as an exploitative tool, an explorative tool, and an artistic tool. A photograph can be a snapshot of time, a record, a detail, a shift, a perspective, an emotion. In curating photography, I had to learn how to create conversations and comparisons between images, whilst simultaneously letting each work retain its individuality. There is no one meaning in a photograph. The intrinsically challenging task was to provide points of entry into the works and elucidate the broad theme of the exhibition, whilst allowing counter narratives and alternative readings to exist. THE PRELIMINARY PROCESS Working with an established collection like The University of AucklandArt Collection, curators need to work creatively in order to produce an exhibition that is both innovative and adequately represents the collection. The University of Auckland Collection includes approximately 140 photographs that are situated around the various campuses and storage facilities. With such a range to choose from, we approached the task in a practical way. We initially surveyed the works and found a broad theme emerging images of architecture and nature. Due to the range of locations housing the pieces, it was important to then establish the works that could be transported to the venue in time, and from these, we selected a more specific theme. The Collection was established in 1966 with works from Colin McCahon and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
