Examples Of Alternate Ending For The Giver
Jonas finally reached the end of the enormous hill that never seemed to end. He began to take
lurching steps in the deep snow and continued to march forward even with the ongoing swirling
winds and harsh snow. Despite all of this Jonas was more determined than ever since he could
see the lights come closer with each staggering step. Grabbing Gabriel tightly he felt at peace as
he felt Gabe s steady heart beat reassuring him he s safe. As the night sky became darker Jonas
realized that the snow stopped and it was much easier to walk now. As Jonas continued houses
decorated in reds, greens and blues came into his view but, they were still quite a distance away.
He also had to get through a maze of trees to get there. Jonas walked carefully amongst them as he
protected Gabriel from their sharp edges.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Theme Of Respect In The Oddyseyy
As Confucious once said Without feelings of respect, what is there to distinguish men from
beasts? Respect is a powerful word, and a powerful manner of showing how much you care about
someone s beliefs, and how much you would care to spectate things in their perspective. Respect
can be seen as a dominant theme in the Oddyseyy, not only because it is repeated often, but also
because it is repeated effectively. Main focuses of respectare for the gods, but also many god like
mortals with great charisma have the chance of getting such respect. The main compositions of
respect we see in the book emerge when the characters show fondness to the gods out of their own
love, when they beseech the gods for mercy, and when they show their regards for the mighty and
the fit.
Firstly, it is important to show love to someone you respect. You see, respect and love are mutual;
without one, you may not have the other. But showing love to a superior entity is different, not
only because you might not encounter them personally, but also because you can t love someone
you don t know, and therefore can cause a weak chain of repect. In the Odyssey, gods are respected
because they sprout fear in the hearts of men, not because they are loved or adored; It s just a
formal way of respect which we can apply to our lives, because we may not always love our
nagging boss, or our demanding teachers. The book shows ridiculous respect for the gods (at most
circumstances), not because of love, but

The Iran Iraq War
The Iran Iraq lasted from September 1980 to August 1998, which made it the longest conventional
war of the 20th century. The consequence of the war cost billions of dollars and millions of lives.
The result of the war, although stalemate would be a critical factor that would shape the future of
the Middle East. The historical deep rooted hostile relationship that emanated from the ethnic Arab
Persian and religious Sunni Shi ite tensions between the two neighbouring countries contributed to
the conditions necessary for war. Although many historians and scholars argue that the deep rooted
ethnic and religious tension caused the outbreak the war, it fails to explain the periods where both
countries were cooperating and involved in alliances... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, as the war progressed Iraqi offensive began to become ineffective and Iranian resistance
became stronger. Iran s advantage in raw manpower enabled them to carry out surprise attacks and
the use of human wave attacks. However, the trend changed again and the war favoured Iraq in
1982, inflicting serious Iranian casualties. Moreover, it has been noted that during the war, both
states misjudged the loyalty and unification of their opposition s population.
The lengthy war between the two neighbouring countries has been noticeable for its use of
ballistic missile attacks, chemical weapons, and attacks on third country oil tankers in the Persian
Gulf. Generally the assessments on the cost of the Iran Iraq war tend to focus on the lost oil
revenues, declining gross national products, infrastructure destruction, and the number of
casualties. Research conducted suggest that around 1.2 million lives were lost in the war, around
2.2 million people were wounded, and around 1.5 million people were forced to flee due to the
violent conflict. Furthermore, approximately 157 Iranian towns with populations of 5 thousand or
more were damaged or totally destroyed during the war, and about 1,800 villages located around
the border were nearly wiped off the map. Before the war there had always been a rivalry between
the two states, ranging from border disputes, competition for

Gay Men and Adoption Debate Essay
Gay Men and Adoption Debate
My investigation is based on the issue should gay men be allowed to adopt .
My aims are:
(1) To find out how the media portray gay adoption
(2) To uncover the attitudes of the general public toward gay adoption.
I am interested in this issue because I believe that it is unfair that gay people suffer more prejudice
than straight people when adopting a child. I think they should just be given the same checks as
straight people.
My first aim links into the parts of the syllabus; The Media and Power and Authority.
My second aim links in with The Family, Power and Authority, The Media and Stratification and
Differentiation.
The common ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ultimately the contemporary family is more diverse. Today, more than in the past, gay couples
are more widely accepted, but there is still a longstanding taboo hanging over the idea of two
men bringing up a child. This is less so where there are two women, because they do not need to
adopt, and people also believe that it is women s natural goal to bring up a child. The debate over
gay men adopting is fuelled by the media who often make people scared of the idea.
Methodology ===========
For this investigation I used a number of methods to create my report. When distributing my
questionnaires I first used a pilot questionnaire to test my style of questions. From this study I
found that some of my questions were badly worded or contained spelling mistakes. This turned
out to be very helpful as a lot of my questions were very badly worded and could cause some
confusion.
When writing my questionnaire, I was careful not to include any questions that may cause offence
to my interviewees. The subject, Finding out the publics attitudes to gay adoption could raise some
problems. For example it was difficult to ask peoples sexuality because to many people that is a
very sensitive and private issue. I also accepted that asking peoples religion was too much of a
personal question. I realise that these questions

Understand The Power Of Negative Language Scenarios
To have the students understand the power of negative words.
To have the students think about negative words and how they would feel if they were in a
situation when negative words are used against them.
To have the students learn that negative words are unnecessary and that positive words should be
used instead of negative words.
The students will:
Read through the four scenarios. The students will answer the two questions in groups of 3 4
students that go with the scenarios. Then as groups, the students will discuss the question which
includes how they would feel if they were the person in the situation who had the negative
language used toward them, and if they could change the words used how would they change the
words to make the person feel good.

Alice Walker The Flowers
The 1920s were filled with segregation and discrimination against the African American community.
Alice Walker, the author of The Flowers, wrote this story to the African Americans to remind them
of historic sacrifices that were made to better future lives. In the story we see the main character,
Myop, on a journey as she loses her innocence when she comes across the skeleton of a dead man.
Walker uses a historical lens, and helps the reader remember the tragic, violent events of the 1920s.
Through the use of the audience, structure, tone, symbolism, and allusion Walker is able to further
prove that this story is a historical lens.Walker wrote this story for the African American community

In the beginning of the story Walker sets a peaceful, content, and even carefree tone, but then it
suddenly changes to an eerie or depressing type of tone. The shift from being cheery to dismal
sucks the reader in, it hooks the reader and makes them feel and contemplate the story. She felt
light and good in the warm sun. (Walker) Through the description of how Myop felt towards the
beginning and describing her innocence helps set the tone for the beginning, but once Myop
wanders further into the woods away from the comfort of her home everything changes. ...the
strangeness of the land made it not as pleasant as her usual haunts. It seemed gloomy in the little
cove...The air was damp, the silence was close and deep. (Paragraph 5) The words that aid in
describing the changing atmosphere Myop encountered assists in reminding the audience. Right
before Myop steps on the man she is caught in an eerie or strange atmosphere and attempts to go
back to the easy going environment of the morning, which is seen through the shifts in tone. This
helps the reader feel and understand what Myop felt and helps them remember the many sacrifices
made. Walker also uses symbolism to help inform the audience of the prices once

Costco Is A Wholesale Discount Store
Costco is a wholesale discount store that operates in locations throughout the world but mainly
in the United States. Members are required to purchase a membership in order to shop at the
store. The founders of the business, Jim Sinegal and Jeff Brotman, opened their first location in
Seattle, Washington. At the end of 1984 there were nine Costco stores in five states. Throughout
the years Costco has continued to grow and as of August 2014 there were 663 locations
worldwide with 468 stores in 43 U.S. states and Puerto Rico (Costco, 2016). Costco developed a
unique strategy that sets them apart from their competition. The key elements of their strategy is
to offer customers ultra low prices on their products, provide a limited selection of name brand
and private label products, create a treasure hunt shopping environment, strong emphasis on low
operating cost, and geographic expansion (Thompson, Peteraf, Gamble, Strickland, 2014).
Costco believed they could keep customers coming back by offering products at extremely low
prices. This way they could convince the customers to spend more money because they believed
they would save more. They only marked up items minimally to make sure their prices stayed
below their competitors. Costco s strategy was also to only offer a limited number of items at a
given time. By reducing the selection of products to choose from, Costco believed this made it
easier for the consumer to make a choice. Costco s internal environment

The Impact Of The 2010 Earthquake For Those With HIV
HIV/AIDS is quite common in the Caribbean, with this disease being the most common in Haiti.
2.2% of adults struggle with HIV. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3011860/ It is

Nonprofit Hospital
Should we receive our treatment, nonprofit or for profit hospitals? Many people would say there is
little distinction between the two. One can receive adequate treatment at either institution; however,
some would say they have specific differences in how care is administered. This work will make
informative comparisons between the two institutions, argue the merits, and explain how they both
operate to save lives.
First, let s look at the organization of a non profit hospital. A non profit hospital is by definition
one that exists solely to be at the service of the community s healthcare needs. One of the most
important distinctions about a non profit hospital is that no person or company makes any money
due to non profit hospitals. Therefore, all of the income received by a non profit hospital is to be
used to help not only the patients, improve the overall health of a particular community.
At the present time, there are about 2,800 non profit hospitals in the United States (Shah et al,
2007). As a non profit entity they are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The quality of care can arguably be based more on policies of individual hospitals and who they
employ rather than its financial circumstances, some researchers have determined certain
differences between how patients are treated in nonprofit and for profit organizations (Mueller,
2016). Nonprofits may not offer the best quality when it comes down to upgraded technology
because they find it hard to find funding (Mueller, 2016). For profit hospitals usually have more
capital, which provides them with state of the art equipment. George Washington University on the
other hand have stated that the two hospitals are equal in how they administer care and treat their
patients. There is nothing saying that the quality of care given at each institution more effective
than the other. The difference lies in the type of equipment used and the

Tyranny Of The Majority Analysis
As an illustration about Alexis description of the Tyranny of the Majority, first we need to
understand his suspicions of its ability to protect the minority. The fact that the majority agree with
slavery is proof that majority rule did not protect the minorities. Alexis also viewed people as
seeking their own personal goal, and if placed in a position of power over the majority there could
be a conflict of moralities. For example, those in the majority who have the financial and
educational advantage over those in the minority, can maintain this advantage over those in the
minority. One of the most objections Alexis had with America were, the few protections against
tyranny (Alexis de Tocqueville 74). Another opinion was about the aristocratic

Ruptures of the rotator cuff are more often seen in players over the age of 40 years. This is
because of the wear and dehydration that tendon structures suffer with advancing age. (Silva,
2010) The younger sports population usually experience tendinopathy. Treating a rotator cuff
injury is usually more successful in the older population and this is mainly due to the fact that
the person is no longer active in sports. On the other hand an active player does not feel the pain
and therefore continues to play the sport. The repair of a rotator cuff can be performed both
arthroscopically and open procedure. (Silva, 2010) Injuries can also be experienced in the elbow
and the wrist. In most instance, it the pain or injury is due to the bone or muscle overload. There
are also some not so common injuries of the shoulder and elbow. They include, nerve, stress induced

American Farms Great Again Is The Motto For Burlington...
Research Paper
Make American farms great again is the motto for Burlington Robotics. Autonomous means:
controlled by a computer without a need for human intervention. United States farmers compete
globally for market share and Burlington Robotics wants to provide the machines needed to reach
the greatest potential. The next revolution in farming will be autonomous farming. Bet the Farm,
Best Robotics game for 2016 is a great example of the changes that are occurring in agriculture.
Farmers concerns with the autonomous tractor revolution include: safety, command and control,
laborers, efficiency and cost.
Safety
Autonomous farming could reduce farm accidents. According to the United States Department of
Labor approximately 300 fatalities occur each year due to vehicular incidents on the farm.
Autonomous farm machinery could decrease these numbers. Make an automated farm a safer place

Mean Creek- Important Idea
Explain an important idea in a text you have studied. Explain why you found it interesting. Discuss
visual and verbal techniques in your answer.
In the film Mean Creek directed by Jacob Aaron Estes, the important idea of loss of innocence is
very interesting as it tells the story and shows us how quickly things can change. The director
shows us this through the way the characters change during the burial of George, the word snap
written in a tree and the guilt felt by Millie and Sam.
Firstly I found the important idea of loss of innocence interesting during the burial of George as
this is when they lose their innocence. When they decide to bury Georges body the character all

A wide shot is used to show George sitting down by himself, this shows how lonely he is and
makes us actually feel sympathy towards him. This is followed by silence which shows how
Sam doesn t want to hurt George. This emphasises the innocence of Sam as he did not wish to
do anything which could result in the death of George. This Quote foreshadows the death of
George. As a viewer tension builds u as we wait the events that link to the death. After the death
of George, Millie engraves the word Snap into a tree. This is significant as it shows how life can
change as fast as the snap of the fingers. A foley effect is used on the scratching of the knife on
the tree to show Millie s anger and how she feels they have not only turned flipped there life
upside down but they took a life and destroyed Georges relatives lives. The foley effect turns
your attention the Millie as the viewer anticipates what she is writing .we now see how just 24
hours before they were all living a normal happy life but now they are emotionally distort and
stumped for a conclusion of what to do. The word snap makes the important idea of loss of
innocence interesting as it shows how fast they have totally lost their innocence.
Lastly loss of innocence is seen as interesting as Millie and Sam come out and talk about what
has happened. When Sam goes to Millie s room we notice a great change in her personality and
feelings. Millie is no longer a bright happy person

Maturity In King Gawain
Maturity is something that cannot be inherited. It cannot be given. Maturity is something that can
be found through living and learning as the seasons go past and the years fly by. Gawain went
through the process of becoming mature when he accepted the Green Knight s challenge,
journeyed to find the Green Chapel, lived with Bertilak and his wife at the white castle, followed
through with the Green Knight s challenge, and told the Round Table of his ordeals and mistakes
that occurred during his time away. Gawain gained his maturity in the most unique way, but it all
began with him as a young, weak individual. On one particular day, as a big, monstrous man
wearing all green approached the knights of the Round Table, intimidation was felt in every
knights under the rule of King Arthur. Soon after arriving, the massive man taunted the Round
Table knight s in order to convince them compete against him in a challenge. In the challenge,
any brave person could exchange the Green Knight a swing of an axe for the swing of an axe.
No one wanted to stand up to the man in green, for he shot fear into anyone who dared to look at
him. During the time of this visit, Gawain could have been considered weak. He was only in the
beginning of his journey on becoming mature, and that would not be the only journey he would
be taking. After some tension between the knights of the Round Table and the Green Knight,
King Arthur accepted the challenge. Knowing of the danger King Arthur was in, Gawain pleaded
to take the place of his uncle. He gave his claim, telling the others of his weak status and
unimportance in the world. Once the claim was given, the immature Gawain took hold of the
green and gold axe, and gave a swing that beheaded the Green Knight. The headless man, to the
surprise of all, picked his head off the ground, gave a speech, and left on his horse. Although
Gawain exhibited some strength in his actions, he did not become completely mature from the
single situation. When the time came, Gawain left on his journey to the Green Chapel. This
journey helped Gawain gain some of the wisdom he would need to become mature. He had to
travel from country to country, always asking others if they had seen the Green Knight. He

Special Educational Needs Support For Children With...
According to the government (GOV.UK, 2016), special educational needs support is available at
all educational levels. This was in light of international developments, modifications to national
legislation and decisions by law makers. The key international influencer was presented by the
Salamanca Statement and Framework for Action (UNESCO, 1994). Also, two cases in particular
the O Donoghue (1993) and Sinnott (2000) cases contributed significantly to changes in educational
provision for children with special needs (Griffin and Shevlin, 20111). The first case the O
Donoghue (1993) concerned eight year old boy with special needs. The courts supported the
claimant to ensure that children were permitted to primary educationand the government was
compiled to make adequate changes to the curriculum and teaching to make certain that they could
make the best use of their capacities (Carey, 2005). The second case concerned Jamie Sinnott who
had s severe form of autism and mental and physical dysfunction. The case concluded that the state
was required to provide lifelong education for people with severe/profound general disabilities. It is
now evident that inclusion in education is an important factor. This reduces exclusion from culture,
curricula and communities of local schools. Not only is inclusion an educational or professional
matter but an issue of fundamental human rights concerning everybody (Wertheimer, 1997).Both

For instance, Lorraine says, Because it s wrong to take money from an old man, that s why,

she would be taking advantage of him. This also shows that she is caring because if she takes

Workplace Diversity Paper
Abstract
This paper is aimed at providing a framework for discussion of diversity and how it pairs with
demographic characteristics. It is divided into four parts. Part I represents diversity in the
workforce, which reflects the rational of organizations and how they handle diversity in the
occupations of their workers. Parts II characterize diversity and age, as it responds to the fact that
older people have the skill set to keep them working well past retirement age. Part III denotes
religion, where as more employers are beginning to recognize the need to allow employees to take
time to pray. Part IV symbolizes the personality traits in diversity and how different is not always
viewed as wrong but can be an incentive to other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The merit principle means that appointment and promotion decisions must be made without
patronage, favoritism or unjustified discrimination. There is a statutory vacancy advertising
arrangements which ensure that all eligible candidates have a reasonable opportunity to apply. Also
selection decisions must be made on the basis of a comparative assessment of relative suitability or
efficiency.
Diversity and Age
In order to maintain a competitive edge the legal profession and the clients for whom they
represent, need to employ an age diverse workforce that reflects the demands of our changing
community and its potential markets. They are considerable bottom line benefits in utilizing
qualified older workers and according to the United States study conducted for the National Council
on the aging, most reported that they believed older workers were reliable, thorough, conscientious
and dependable. Myths and stereotypes must be directly countered through education.
By making a healthy business case for age diversity, many employers have driven significant
change within their organization. The business case is based on a simple premise; people are
living longer than ever before and are having fewer children. As a result the population is aging.
From an employment perspective, the dramatic drop in numbers of young people

Puppy Mills Have Been Notorious For Keeping The Puppy...
Puppy mills have been notorious for keeping the puppy trade industry alive and as big as it is
today. With thousands of puppy mills, both known and under the radar, they provide easy access
and cheap puppies to sell at pet stores at inflated prices. While they do keep the business booming
and keep pure breeds that may specialize in important roles, they continue to put countless numbers
of dogs through terrifying pain. To stop the agonizing torture the lovable pups go through, stricter
rules must be applied to these puppymills, a new license regulation must be used, regular
inspections, and awareness of alternative options must be made. With already set regulations on
puppy mills, people say there is no reason to have any additions on the rules. There is a kennel
license, which restricts how many dogs someone can have depending on how much square
footage of land he or she owns. This regulates the amount of dogs that can be held for breeding
and to keep the area clean and safe enough for all the dogs involved. People are required to go
through a moderately long process to achieve their license, to ensure that these dogs will be
okay. Puppy mills are also known for keeping pure breed numbers up, such as beloved German
shepherds, poodles, Welsh Pembroke corgis, and Labradors. Having mixed breeds can be
healthier of course but as Sofia Jeppsson had said in her article Purebred Dogs and Canine
Wellbeing, However, in the long run such a strategy would severely deplete the

Breathless Movie Essay
Breathless: Movie Review
A Bout de Souffle or Breathless is a movie filmed in 1960 by Jean Luc Godard. Michel Poiccard
(Jean Paul Belmondo), who also used documents of Laszlo Kovacs is a main character of the
film. The man is a fraudster (or other type of criminal) who killed a French policeman and tried to
save himself after it. Michel was a womanizer and American student Patricia Franchini became his
last partner. The woman worked in the newspaper in Paris and followed Michel during the most
part of the movie. Patricia turned the character to the police and saw how he was shot and arrested.
While the movie looked like an ordinary criminal love story, it demonstrated significant moments
for both old and modern cinematograph.
Godard used different camera styles in the Breathless. There were several direct shots at the end of
the movie. For example, there is a scene where Michel said: I want to sleep (Breathless). Patricia
also looked directly into camera at the end of the film. However, these scenes were an exception,
not the rule. Direct shots appeared occasionally, like in case when the Swedish girl posed
(Breathless 1:19:00). Most part of the Breathless was filmed from different angles, and actors did
not look straight into camera even in close ups. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While it was filmed in 1960, the Breathless has several moments that can surprise people these
days. For example, Patricia s behavior excites with woman s instability. Modern movies often
show only positive or negative female characters. Patricia was in the middle she loved Michel,
turned him to the police and was present at his shot and arrest. While the character called the girl
creep at the end of the film (Breathless 1:29:00), it did not look like Patricia wanted to hurt him,
or Michel wished to avenge. This type of relations is a thing that creates a feeling of excitement in
this movie after almost 50 years of its

Churches That Make A Difference
In Siders book Churches That Make a Difference the body of Christ is challenged to not only
understand the purpose of evangelism with words, but also called to evangelism by action (Sider
31). Sider challenges the church to have a Holistic approach at ministry, and not just be focused on
the either or of Evangelism or Social Justice , but both. To understand this Holistic approach one
must understand what defines an evangelical church, and what defines a social justice church. Most
churches that call themselves evangelical, the focus for ministry is sharing the good news of Jesus
Christ through word of mouth, events, flyers etc. Churches that focus on social justice are less
likely to focus on the words that Jesus taught, but focus more on the actions of Jesus that reached
out across social norms to show love. These churches define themselves most of the time as
reconciling churches. The author writes that a healthy church is one that is embodies the Holistic
approach, and empowering its members to execute Holistic ministry in the community and in the
world (Sider 16).
Sider does a great job at helping churches comprehend the complexities of living a Holistic ministry
approach as a church. In the book Churches That Make a Difference , Siders breaks down Holistic
ministry into three parts to better understand the concept. Those components include what is
Holistic ministry, what key building blocks and elements are necessary for Holistic ministry, and

Age Related Macular Degeneration ( Amd )
Age related macular degeneration (AMD) is a clinical condition in which there is a progressive
decrease in central vision. There are two forms of macular degeneration, dry/nonexudative and wet
/exudative, and these differ in fundal findings and treatment options. Dry macular degeneration is
due to accumulation of drusen between the retinal pigment epithelium and Bruch s membrane and
eventually progresses to geographic atrophy. Geographic atrophy refers to loss of retinal pigment
epithelium (RPE) and photoreceptors. Wet macular degeneration, comprising up to 80% of cases of
macular degeneration, is due to neovascularization forming choroidal neovascular membranes,
which are unstable vessels leading to an array of complications including... Show more content on

One important direction of research was the association drawn between complement Factor H and
macular degeneration, which proposed that macular degeneration could be considered a much
broader systemic vascular disease. Factor H is a glycoprotein that aids in the inhibiting the
activation of the alternate pathway to prevent the host from activating the immune response
towards self antigens. The association between factor H and macular degeneration is so great
that a homozygous single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) can increase the risk of developing
age related macular degeneration by seven fold and even a heterozygous SNP can increase the
risk two to three fold. Furthermore, deletions in the genes for complement factor H related 1 and
3, which compete with factor H for binding sites, have been demonstrated to protect against age
related macular degeneration by increasing the amount of binding sites available for complement
factor H to bind to the vasculature. Factor H has even been shown to be actively synthesized by
the RPE; gene products were generated from cultured RPE and real time RT PCR established that
transcripts for factor H were abundant in the RPE. The association is even clearer when clinically
examining patients with Membranoproliferative Glomerulonephritis II in which there is a
deficiency in factor H. These patients develop early onset drusen on fundal examination. Most
importantly, the association found between factor H and AMD stirred

Should 16 Year Olds Be Able To Vote
Due to the society we live in today I personally believe that 16 year olds should be able to vote.
For one, they are given the responsibility to drive, pay taxes, and can be charged with a criminal
defense as an adult. With that being said they are being treated like an adult. Also, at that age
you as an individual know what is best for yourself and others of your age group. This can go as
far as gun ownership which is a problem in some countries, minimum wage as they are the prime
age group that is being affected, as well as education as it affects them in the future and other
generations behind them. Lastly, it would give a greater say in what other generations have to
think about who is leading and area or country. Do you still believe 16 year olds shouldn t vote?
The legal working age in Canada is 14, however the age where most teens are hired is 16.
Working teens at 16 are asked to contribute to their countries wealth by paying taxes. Paying taxes
shows that they are responsible enough to manage their own income and still 16 year olds are seen
as too immature to vote. In a article on the C.D.C website it states, Children at ... Show more

New Method Of Ultrahard Material Synthesis
New Method in Ultrahard Material Synthesis: CS2 Catalyzed Ultrahard Fullerite
Ultrahard materials is a broad category define by materials that are harder than diamond. Diamond,
thought to be the hardest material for centuries hasn t been the hardest material seen by scientists in
a long time. Many materials have been developed or discovered recently that surpass the 150 GPa
hardness of diamond by as much as 100%. There are many ways to measure the hardness of a
material, from the classic scratch test to more complicated bulk modulus calculations. Other tests of
hardness include indentation and rebound tests, or measurements of the elastic and shear modulus.
Ultrahard fullerite is one such material that has surpassed diamond with values ... Show more

Structural studies of fullerite are hampered by its lack of a 4 or 6 fold axis, so long term periodicity
in fullerite s crystal lattice isn t possible for covalently bonded fullerene molecules in three
dimensions. TEM studies have shown a sequence of FCC phases that have been explained by
bonded fullerene chains formation. Because of this difficulty, researchers have turned to Raman
spectroscopy to study the polymerization, which has features explained by the C60 phonon spectra
perturbations by intermolecular covalent bonding. The 3D polymerized phases produced in
ultrahard fullerite synthesis are phase IV and V, where phase V is the desired ultrahard fullerite.
Phase V is translucent in the near IR or visible range having a Raman spectrum containing two
broad peaks around 1550 cm 1 and around 500 cm 1.
Prior to research by Popov et al., the synthesis conditions of ultrahard fullerite depended on a
degree of plastic deformation and stress tensor variation of a sample under compression. The
minimum required pressure for synthesis was 13 GPa at 1100 K, or 18 GPa at room temperature,
both of which aren t suitable for industrial production without a catalyst. The polymerization of
fullerene molecules starts under sunlight irradiation at ambient temperatures to create dimers.
These simple conditions for these intermolecular bonds to form led researchers to hypothesize

Privacy Vs White Hat Hacking
Since the internet is prominent in most households, libraries, schools, and business offices, the
internet has become the primary way of communication and getting information. Security, data
confidentiality, censorship, and privacy have become important issues related to these topics. The
risks of modern technology are we have a constant evolution of a wide range of technological
advances from software, hardware, viruses, malware, and surveillance. This is why it is so difficult
to keep up to date.
Hackers can find tools to use to hack the internet. Hackers consist of security specialists to the
common person with internet at home. Hackers are grouped into white hats, grey hats and black
hats.
White hat hackers are computer hackers who specialize in ethical hacking such as penetration
testing and other methodologies to make sure that an organizations security measures are adequate.
White hat hackers use their skills to improve security by probing and exposing vulnerabilities in
organizations. These types of hackers have permission by the organizations or companies. Grey hat
hackers are those who may violate the laws or ethical standards sometimes but do not have the
malicious intent. Black hat hackers are hackers who use malicious means to harms someone s
computer, block access to information, breach an organization s internet security, and violate laws.

Summary Of Critical Thinking By Emily Dickinson
From another perspective. Sometimes lost, deep in thoughts, tough emotions and feelings.
Sometimes looking, staring, so strong, but again not watching anything. Sometimes imaging big
dreams, big things, but never finding anything in reality. Surrounded by same objects, life,
people, big roads, big decisions, choices. We, the people we are unique, we are a mosaic with
rare, colorful pieces. The way we live the life, enjoy the world, see the things, makes us who we
are. In dark or light, confident or not, walking or halting. Under the sun, warm and relieved; under
the cold moon, mysterious, endless sky, thinking in sadness. Often in reality; rarely in our mind.
Every time, contemplating the miracles of the nature, enjoying the infinite universe with just two
finite eyes. Every creature that can see has a power and all creatures have another one called vision.
Can we do without the windows of soul eyes?
Can we belong to the world of feelings and senses?
This question can have thousands of questions full of emotions. A diversity of thoughts for a theme
that raises contradictions. I think no, you think maybe, but what does Emily Dickinson think? What
does the blind poet that experiences the world from her room thinks? Some critics have used her
life to explain her poetry nevertheless others have tried to explain her life by referring to her poems,
which they think are autobiographical.

The Cape Cod Massachusetts Is Named After The Atlantic Cod
Iconic Cape Cod Massachusetts is named after the Atlantic Cod. For centuries, this fish has
provided food and trade for New Englanders. In this time, there have been several instances of
overfishing by humans from the aboriginal era to colonial times but none so drastic as the present
conditions of codfisheries (Jackson, Kirby, Berger, and Bjorndal, 2001). Overfishing is a human
induced occurrence where humans are fishingmore than a body of water can sustain. In other
words, humans are catching more adult fish preventing the existing population from growing to
replenish the fish that were caught (Overfishing: A Global Disaster, n.d.). Worldwide, over 80%
of the fish stocks are fully to over exploited, depleted, or in a state of collapse (Overfishing: A
Global Disaster, n.d.). The results of this careless behavior has reduced the biodiversity in the Gulf
of Maine and landed the Atlantic Cod on the endangered species list as being vulnerable (Cod,
n.d.). In the neighboring region of Newfoundland, Canada, communities are already feeling the
effects of overfishing. In 1992, at the beginning of the fishing season in the Grand Bank region,
there were suddenly no more cod. The local economies collapsed and to this day, the region has not
quite recovered (Brennan and Withgott, 2005).
Since 2012, there has been a 77% decrease in the number of fish that fishermen are allowed to
catch or the TAC (total allowable catch). It was finally in the end of 2014, the New England Marine

Have you ever had a good or bad experience with social media? Have you ever been a part of a

the kids in your neighborhood and in some places there are not a lot of kids that you can make
friends with or they do not live close so you have to drive there. That is all fixed with social
media. Like recently I have found some friends on social media that I play games with. They are
super nice and without social media I would have never had that experience I would have to

The Suicide Note By Janice Mirikitani
TOPIC
There are times when we feel like we must be perfect in other to please others. No matter if we
did the best we could, if it isn t perfect, we felt like a failure. We want the approval that comes with
perfectness but perfectionism is not the same thing as striving to be our best. Perfectionism is not
about healthy achievement and growth; it s a shield. Perfectionism is refusal to accept any standard
short of perfection. Suicide Note, by Janice Mirikitani, is about an Asian American college
student who commits suicide by jumping from her dormitory window. This poem is read as the
suicide note that was left behind by this young woman to apologize to her parent s for having
received less than a perfect four point grade average and not being perfect in life. Her last
thoughts and feelings were left on this note, describing why she did what she did. The pressure
to succeed that this student felt from herself and her parents was far too much to overcome.
Even though the girl worked really hard and did her very best, it wasn t good enough in her mind
and maybe in her parents minds to be worthy of her parents love or life itself and so her only
option was death to atone for her sin of imperfection. Sometimes pressure to succeed that a student
feels from herself and her parents is far too much to overcome.

David Sedaris Essay Me Talk Pretty One Day
Writing Assignment: Education (Test) Understanding a concept of comprehending derived mainly
from how one sees and applies something they have learned to what they know. Not everyone
understands absolutely everything; where some may understand one idea, another may not

were previously taught and how you apply your own particular sense of knowledge to situations.
Understanding goes along with the essay, Schoolby Kyoko Mori on how she expanded that satori,

David Sedaris in, Me Talk Pretty One Day, found his point of enlightenment. The marvelous feeling

family members and NASA s flight controllers actually watched it.

In theory, it has been proved that futures and swaps can be equal to the combination of forwards.
(Hull J C, 1997)Generally, a foreign exchange settlement contract will be signed by banks and
their customers, which stipulates the type of foreign currency to be used, the sum, the exchange
rates and duration. On the due date when income or expenditure of foreign exchange occurs,
currency exchange settlement will be operated in accordance with the contract. In order to
improve efficiency, it s necessary to adjust the hedging when using forward contracts. (Brealey R,
Kaplanis E. 1995)When the interest rate fluctuates randomly, the forwards strategy can be divided
into three smaller parts: the Minimum Variance Hedging, Merton / Breeden Hedging and
speculation. (Briys E, Solnik B. 1992)When the interest rate is certain, there is no price difference
between futures contracts and forward contracts. Perfect hedge can be achieved, no matter what
type of hedging tools is used. However, the two is no longer able to replace each other when
interest rates move randomly, because of the existence of marking to market in futures market
operation. The above selection is based on the effectiveness of futures and forwards. Next, the
selection rules will emphasis on other features. Futures contracts are standardized by the Exchange,
where the transactions usually take place. Forward contracts are signed between

marks! There are some simple tips for using everyday items you can find in your kitchen
cupboard as well as information about some of the more invasive procedures. Stretch Marks
Defined Stretch marks occur when your body grows (weight gain for example) faster than your
skin which causes breakage of the fibers under the skins surface. They don t only appear on the
stomach either. You can get stretch marks on your belly, breasts, thighs, butt and upper arms.
Those marks will generally start out a dark reddish or purple color but usually fade over time. It
is not so much a matter of how much weight you have gained as it is how fast the weight was
gained. But if you have them, you are definitely not alone, 90% of pregnant women get them to
some degree. There is no way to completely remove them without surgery but there are many ways
you can lessen the appearance so they are not as noticeable. PREVENTION GELATIN (*vegetarian

Summary Of Ron Off The Grid
In a perpetually advancing technological society, digital privacy surpassed many other areas of
concern. Ron Swanson, the leader of the Parks and Recreation department, decries any invasion
of privacy. The idea that someone might know information about him opposes everything he
believes in. Being hardcore, exemplifies Ron s approach to life. He keeps his personal life
secret, to the point that his own co workers do not know when his birthday is, so when Ron
receives a package addressed to him delivered to his new house, he assembles a squad to help get
him off the grid. However, in the process of trying to get Ron off the grid, Tom takes pictures of
Ron throughout the day and posts them to social media, which goes against the entire objective

Since winter temperatures have increased much faster than summer temperatures, it would seem to
line up well with Americans preferences. On a county by county basis they found, using their WPI
scale, that in the past 40 years the average mean WPI score has increased, meaning over time
people are living in more and more preferable weather. Next, they calculated that approximately
80% of people live in counties where the weather has improved. (Egan and Mullin, 2016) Lastly,
Mullin and Egan discuss the problems with the perceived comfort of Americans and how this
comfort will change. Climate models show that the trend of smaller increases in summer
temperatures, and higher increases in winter temperatures of the past 40 years will soon reverse.
Using their WPI data and two separate scenarios for Americans future by 2099, they calculated
how pleasant the weather will most likely be. In the first scenario they calculated in weather
pleasantness if greenhouse house emissions are stabilized shortly after 2100, and found that
approximately 71% of American counties would experience a decrease in WPI score. In the
second scenario they calculated if greenhouse emissions were left unabated by 2100, and found
that approximately 88% of American counties would likely experience a decrease in WPI score.
(Egan and Mullin, 2016) The authors believe that this switch from more to less pleasant weather
could be big problem. Apathy has

Respect is a powerful word, and a powerful manner of showing how much you care about someone s beliefs, and how much you would care to spectate things in their perspective. Respect can be seen as a dominant theme in the Oddyseyy, not only because it is repeated often, but also because it is repeated effectively. Main focuses of respectare for the gods, but also many god like mortals with great charisma have the chance of getting such respect. The main compositions of respect we see in the book emerge when the characters show fondness to the gods out of their own love, when they beseech the gods for mercy, and when they show their regards for the mighty and the fit. Firstly, it is important to show love to someone you respect. You see, respect and love are mutual; without one, you may not have the other. But showing love to a superior entity is different, not only because you might not encounter them personally, but also because you can t love someone you don t know, and therefore can cause a weak chain of repect. In the Odyssey, gods are respected because they sprout fear in the hearts of men, not because they are loved or adored; It s just a formal way of respect which we can apply to our lives, because we may not always love our nagging boss, or our demanding teachers. The book shows ridiculous respect for the gods (at most circumstances), not because of love, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The historical deep rooted hostile relationship that emanated from the ethnic Arab Persian and religious Sunni Shi ite tensions between the two neighbouring countries contributed to the conditions necessary for war. Iran s advantage in raw manpower enabled them to carry out surprise attacks and the use of human wave attacks. However, the trend changed again and the war favoured Iraq in 1982, inflicting serious Iranian casualties. Moreover, it has been noted that during the war, both states misjudged the loyalty and unification of their opposition s population. The lengthy war between the two neighbouring countries has been noticeable for its use of ballistic missile attacks, chemical weapons, and attacks on third country oil tankers in the Persian Gulf. Generally the assessments on the cost of the Iran Iraq war tend to focus on the lost oil revenues, declining gross national products, infrastructure destruction, and the number of casualties. Research conducted suggest that around 1.2 million lives were lost in the war, around 2.2 million people were wounded, and around 1.5 million people were forced to flee due to the violent conflict. Furthermore, approximately 157 Iranian towns with populations of 5 thousand or more were damaged or totally destroyed during the war, and about 1,800 villages located around the border were nearly wiped off the map. First, let s look at the organization of a non profit hospital. A non profit hospital is by definition one that exists solely to be at the service of the community s healthcare needs. One of the most important distinctions about a non profit hospital is that no person or company makes any money due to non profit hospitals. This was in light of international developments, modifications to national legislation and decisions by law makers. The key international influencer was presented by the Salamanca Statement and Framework for Action (UNESCO, 1994). Also, two cases in particular the O Donoghue (1993) and Sinnott (2000) cases contributed significantly to changes in educational provision for children with special needs (Griffin and Shevlin, 20111). The first case the O Donoghue (1993) concerned eight year old boy with special needs. The courts supported the claimant to ensure that children were permitted to primary educationand the government was compiled to make adequate changes to the curriculum and teaching to make certain that they could make the best use of their capacities (Carey, 2005). The second case concerned Jamie Sinnott who had s severe form of autism and mental and physical dysfunction. The case concluded that the state was required to provide lifelong education for people with severe/profound general disabilities. • 24. Puppy Mills Have Been Notorious For Keeping The Puppy... Puppy mills have been notorious for keeping the puppy trade industry alive and as big as it is today. With thousands of puppy mills, both known and under the radar, they provide easy access and cheap puppies to sell at pet stores at inflated prices. While they do keep the business booming and keep pure breeds that may specialize in important roles, they continue to put countless numbers of dogs through terrifying pain. To stop the agonizing torture the lovable pups go through, stricter rules must be applied to these puppymills, a new license regulation must be used, regular inspections, and awareness of alternative options must be made. With already set regulations on puppy mills, people say there is no reason to have any additions on the rules. There is a kennel license, which restricts how many dogs someone can have depending on how much square footage of land he or she owns. This regulates the amount of dogs that can be held for breeding and to keep the area clean and safe enough for all the dogs involved. People are required to go through a moderately long process to achieve their license, to ensure that these dogs will be okay. Puppy mills are also known for keeping pure breed numbers up, such as beloved German shepherds, poodles, Welsh Pembroke corgis, and Labradors. • 25. Breathless Movie Essay Breathless: Movie Review A Bout de Souffle or Breathless is a movie filmed in 1960 by Jean Luc Godard. Michel Poiccard (Jean Paul Belmondo), who also used documents of Laszlo Kovacs is a main character of the film. The man is a fraudster (or other type of criminal) who killed a French policeman and tried to save himself after it. Michel was a womanizer and American student Patricia Franchini became his last partner. The woman worked in the newspaper in Paris and followed Michel during the most part of the movie. Patricia turned the character to the police and saw how he was shot and arrested. While the movie looked like an ordinary criminal love story, it demonstrated significant moments for both old and modern cinematograph. Godard used different camera styles in the Breathless. There were several direct shots at the end of the movie. For example, there is a scene where Michel said: I want to sleep (Breathless). Patricia also looked directly into camera at the end of the film. However, these scenes were an exception, not the rule. Direct shots appeared occasionally, like in case when the Swedish girl posed (Breathless 1:19:00). Most part of the Breathless was filmed from different angles, and actors did not look straight into camera even in close ups. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While the character called the girl creep at the end of the film (Breathless 1:29:00), it did not look like Patricia wanted to hurt him, or Michel wished to avenge. • 26. Churches That Make A Difference In Siders book Churches That Make a Difference the body of Christ is challenged to not only understand the purpose of evangelism with words, but also called to evangelism by action (Sider 31). Sider challenges the church to have a Holistic approach at ministry, and not just be focused on the either or of Evangelism or Social Justice , but both. To understand this Holistic approach one must understand what defines an evangelical church, and what defines a social justice church. Most churches that call themselves evangelical, the focus for ministry is sharing the good news of Jesus Christ through word of mouth, events, flyers etc. Churches that focus on social justice are less likely to focus on the words that Jesus taught, but focus more on the actions of Jesus that reached out across social norms to show love. These churches define themselves most of the time as reconciling churches. The author writes that a healthy church is one that is embodies the Holistic approach, and empowering its members to execute Holistic ministry in the community and in the world (Sider 16). Sider does a great job at helping churches comprehend the complexities of living a Holistic ministry approach as a church. In the book Churches That Make a Difference , Siders breaks down Holistic ministry into three parts to better understand the concept. Those components include what is Holistic ministry, what key building blocks and elements are necessary for Holistic ministry, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 28. Age Related Macular Degeneration ( Amd ) Age related macular degeneration (AMD) is a clinical condition in which there is a progressive decrease in central vision. There are two forms of macular degeneration, dry/nonexudative and wet /exudative, and these differ in fundal findings and treatment options. Dry macular degeneration is due to accumulation of drusen between the retinal pigment epithelium and Bruch s membrane and eventually progresses to geographic atrophy. Geographic atrophy refers to loss of retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) and photoreceptors. Wet macular degeneration, comprising up to 80% of cases of macular degeneration, is due to neovascularization forming choroidal neovascular membranes, which are unstable vessels leading to an array of complications including... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One important direction of research was the association drawn between complement Factor H and macular degeneration, which proposed that macular degeneration could be considered a much broader systemic vascular disease. Factor H is a glycoprotein that aids in the inhibiting the activation of the alternate pathway to prevent the host from activating the immune response towards self antigens. The association between factor H and macular degeneration is so great that a homozygous single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) can increase the risk of developing age related macular degeneration by seven fold and even a heterozygous SNP can increase the risk two to three fold. Furthermore, deletions in the genes for complement factor H related 1 and 3, which compete with factor H for binding sites, have been demonstrated to protect against age related macular degeneration by increasing the amount of binding sites available for complement factor H to bind to the vasculature. Factor H has even been shown to be actively synthesized by the RPE; gene products were generated from cultured RPE and real time RT PCR established that transcripts for factor H were abundant in the RPE. The association is even clearer when clinically examining patients with Membranoproliferative Glomerulonephritis II in which there is a deficiency in factor H. These patients develop early onset drusen on fundal examination. Most importantly, the association found between factor H and AMD stirred ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Should 16 Year Olds Be Able To Vote Due to the society we live in today I personally believe that 16 year olds should be able to vote. For one, they are given the responsibility to drive, pay taxes, and can be charged with a criminal defense as an adult. With that being said they are being treated like an adult. Also, at that age you as an individual know what is best for yourself and others of your age group. This can go as far as gun ownership which is a problem in some countries, minimum wage as they are the prime age group that is being affected, as well as education as it affects them in the future and other generations behind them. Lastly, it would give a greater say in what other generations have to think about who is leading and area or country. Do you still believe 16 year olds shouldn t vote? The legal working age in Canada is 14, however the age where most teens are hired is 16. Working teens at 16 are asked to contribute to their countries wealth by paying taxes. New Method Of Ultrahard Material Synthesis New Method in Ultrahard Material Synthesis: CS2 Catalyzed Ultrahard Fullerite Ultrahard materials is a broad category define by materials that are harder than diamond. Diamond, thought to be the hardest material for centuries hasn t been the hardest material seen by scientists in a long time. Many materials have been developed or discovered recently that surpass the 150 GPa hardness of diamond by as much as 100%. There are many ways to measure the hardness of a material, from the classic scratch test to more complicated bulk modulus calculations. Other tests of hardness include indentation and rebound tests, or measurements of the elastic and shear modulus. Ultrahard fullerite is one such material that has surpassed diamond with values ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Structural studies of fullerite are hampered by its lack of a 4 or 6 fold axis, so long term periodicity in fullerite s crystal lattice isn t possible for covalently bonded fullerene molecules in three dimensions. TEM studies have shown a sequence of FCC phases that have been explained by bonded fullerene chains formation. Because of this difficulty, researchers have turned to Raman spectroscopy to study the polymerization, which has features explained by the C60 phonon spectra perturbations by intermolecular covalent bonding. The 3D polymerized phases produced in ultrahard fullerite synthesis are phase IV and V, where phase V is the desired ultrahard fullerite. Phase V is translucent in the near IR or visible range having a Raman spectrum containing two broad peaks around 1550 cm 1 and around 500 cm 1. Prior to research by Popov et al., the synthesis conditions of ultrahard fullerite depended on a degree of plastic deformation and stress tensor variation of a sample under compression. The minimum required pressure for synthesis was 13 GPa at 1100 K, or 18 GPa at room temperature, both of which aren t suitable for industrial production without a catalyst. The polymerization of fullerene molecules starts under sunlight irradiation at ambient temperatures to create dimers. For centuries, this fish has provided food and trade for New Englanders. In this time, there have been several instances of overfishing by humans from the aboriginal era to colonial times but none so drastic as the present conditions of codfisheries (Jackson, Kirby, Berger, and Bjorndal, 2001). Overfishing is a human induced occurrence where humans are fishingmore than a body of water can sustain. In other words, humans are catching more adult fish preventing the existing population from growing to replenish the fish that were caught (Overfishing: A Global Disaster, n.d.). Worldwide, over 80% of the fish stocks are fully to over exploited, depleted, or in a state of collapse (Overfishing: A Global Disaster, n.d.). The results of this careless behavior has reduced the biodiversity in the Gulf of Maine and landed the Atlantic Cod on the endangered species list as being vulnerable (Cod, n.d.). In the neighboring region of Newfoundland, Canada, communities are already feeling the effects of overfishing. In 1992, at the beginning of the fishing season in the Grand Bank region, there were suddenly no more cod. The local economies collapsed and to this day, the region has not quite recovered (Brennan and Withgott, 2005). We want the approval that comes with perfectness but perfectionism is not the same thing as striving to be our best. Perfectionism is not about healthy achievement and growth; it s a shield. Perfectionism is refusal to accept any standard short of perfection. Suicide Note, by Janice Mirikitani, is about an Asian American college student who commits suicide by jumping from her dormitory window. This poem is read as the suicide note that was left behind by this young woman to apologize to her parent s for having received less than a perfect four point grade average and not being perfect in life. Her last thoughts and feelings were left on this note, describing why she did what she did. The pressure to succeed that this student felt from herself and her parents was far too much to overcome. The marvelous feeling of reaching enlightenment comes purely from the effort and speed at which you perform a certain task; from understanding someone to mastering a skill, the end result marks a beneficial use of the time you put into that task. • 45. Summary Of Ron Off The Grid In a perpetually advancing technological society, digital privacy surpassed many other areas of concern. Ron Swanson, the leader of the Parks and Recreation department, decries any invasion of privacy. The idea that someone might know information about him opposes everything he believes in. On a county by county basis they found, using their WPI scale, that in the past 40 years the average mean WPI score has increased, meaning over time people are living in more and more preferable weather. Next, they calculated that approximately 80% of people live in counties where the weather has improved. (Egan and Mullin, 2016) Lastly, Mullin and Egan discuss the problems with the perceived comfort of Americans and how this comfort will change. Climate models show that the trend of smaller increases in summer temperatures, and higher increases in winter temperatures of the past 40 years will soon reverse. Using their WPI data and two separate scenarios for Americans future by 2099, they calculated how pleasant the weather will most likely be. In the first scenario they calculated in weather pleasantness if greenhouse house emissions are stabilized shortly after 2100, and found that approximately 71% of American counties would experience a decrease in WPI score. In the second scenario they calculated if greenhouse emissions were left unabated by 2100, and found that approximately 88% of American counties would likely experience a decrease in WPI score. (Egan and Mullin, 2016) The authors believe that this switch from more to less pleasant weather could be big problem. Apathy has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
