A History of Submissive Women in Literature
The feminine gender has long been one that has been repressed throughout history and forced to
acclimate itself to a world dominated by men. Although major improvements have been made in the
strife for equality, this continues to be a man s world. In the short stories The Chrysanthemums and A
Rose for Emily, as well as in the drama A Doll s House, the protagonists are all frustrated women who
are unfulfilled with their subservient lives. Partly imposed upon them by their setting s historical and
societal norms, they choose to either do something about it or continue to internalize their
dissatisfaction. When analyzing these pieces of literature, it becomes quite obvious which of the
protagonists fall under the category of those ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Elizabeth Hardwick, Nora is intrinsically independent and free spirited from the very
beginning of the play (294). Unni Langås also wrote an essay on Ibsen s drama and about Nora s
specific motives. He wrote, When she performs acts that are generally reserved for men, or withdraws
from practices associated with women, she shows the gender attribution of these acts to be social
constructions and thereby contests their reified status (157). So, Langås claims that Nora s rebellion
and discontent began long before she literally walked out on Trovald, her husband. The events that
eventually unfolded at the end of the play and that lead her to finally leave her husband were just those
last straws that broke the camel s back. Before her final stage exit, Ibsen has Nora say, For eight years
I have been patiently waiting, enforcing this idea of long lived frustration (3.1107). Again, this idea of
the rebellious woman at the end of the nineteenth century was not only reserved to post Civil War
America as was the case with Emily Grierson. Nora Helmer and her insurgence, against all ethical and
moral norms of society at the time, did not go unnoticed in Northern Europe. According to Marilyn
Yalom, The idea that a respectable woman should renounce her role as wife and mother, leave her
husband and children, and strike out on her own was seen

Ischemic Stroke Case Study Paper
Case Study: Patient with Ischemic Stroke Mrs. Alice Palmer is a 54 year old married woman who has
been admitted and is being treated with an ischemic stroke which she had 18 hours ago. This paper
explores the nursing care of Mrs. Alice Palmer based on the clinical reasoning cycle by considering
her situation first, collecting cues and information about her, processing the information gathered, then
identifying problems or issues she is experiencing, and finally carrying out a detailed assessment.
Also, the paper focuses on setting goals and establishing a nursing care plan in the community, and
target ethnically safe practice. Ischemic stroke occurs when the brain tissue does not receive sufficient
oxygenated blood due to an obstruction of the carotid artery (Brunner, Suddarth, Smeltzer, 2008).
When the brain does not receive enough oxygenated blood, some or all of its tissues may get damaged

Alice Palmer has a mild brain tissue damage associated with the ischemic stroke as evidenced by a
Glasgow Coma Scale score of 15. On the other hand, she has a normal heart rate of 89 beats per
minute (HR 89) and a blood pressure of 155/90 mmHg. A blood pressure of 155/90 mmHg is an
indication of stage 1 hypertension. Mrs. Alice Palmer is hypertensive because she refused to take
medication while she was at home (Grace Meissner, 2011; Fortrat Gharib, 2016). Further, Mrs. Alice
Palmer has a left sided hemiparesis which indicates damage to the right side of the brain. Left sided
hemiparesis is a weak muscle tone of the left side of the body which leads to faded movement and
carrying out self care activities such as dressing, bathing, and grabbing objects (Fischer et al., 2016).
Moreover, damage to the right side of the brain is associated with poor memory since the limbic
system is located in that region (Usher Marriott, 2011). Also, Mrs. Alice had a bilateral visual field
deficit because of the mild brain tissue damage associated with the ischemic

Reaction Paper On Happiness And Happiness
INCOME AND HAPPINESS
The idea of happiness and what makes one happier, is drawing a great deal of scholarly attentions.
Happiness can also be determined by how satisfied one feels in his/her life. Graham, Zhou, and Zhang
(2017), observed that, using data from the Chinese Livelihood survey, mental health hugely affects
happiness, whereas physical health significantly impacts mental health (p.242). Demir (2010) found
that the quality of mother and best friend relationships were the predictors of happiness among
emerging adults without romantic partners, while the quality of romantic relationship and mother
appeared to be the predictors of happiness among those involved in romantic relationship (p.310).
Happiness is also associated with faith and religion, however, Edling, Rydgren, and Bohman (2014)
found no positive affect of religion on happiness, instead, membership in non religious, social
organization, and clubs emerged to be the factors that drive happiness in a country like Sweden with
low aggregate level of religiosity (p.621). Similarly, decent number of researchers associated
happiness with wealth and income. Easterlin (2001) argues that there is positive relationship between
happiness and income over the short run, however, the level of happiness remains constant among
cohorts over the long run due to the equivalent increase in their material aspiration (p.465 681). In this
paper, I will be reviewing Easterlin s

In this stage students are learning how to be moral, intellectually curious, and independent. The third
plane, from twelve to eighteen years is a psychologically unstable place where the adolescent is trying
to form the person they will be as they enter into society. This period is creative, but students also
express difficulty in concentration as they try to relate to peer groups and the outside world, to find
self esteem and define who they are. The fourth plane is when a student enters the world and hopefully
becomes a social aware and monetarily successful member of society. To Maria Montessori her final
and real goal was a student population that graduated her program with a sense that they had a duty to
society, to be strong moral leaders and increase peace. Teachers, she said, must set a good example if
there is to be a good humanity (Montessori, 1949). Although the philosophy of Montessori education
intersects greatly with progressivism, the schools were often placed at odds with one another. A
contemporary, collaborator, and student of John Dewey, William Kilpatrick, orchestrated a series of
lectures and writings that discounted Montessori s teaching philosophy as egocentric and restrictive.
He said that the learning materials created hindered the imagination of the teacher and the emphasis
on the individual would lead to an entire generation of ill behaved egomaniacs (Shortridge, 2007). His

Asher Lev, an artist is a person first. He is an individual. If there is no person, there is no artist (Chaim

respect from those around them. In Asher Lev by Chaim Potok, Asher is a Ladover Hasid who grows

the expectations of his traditions and his gift. He is an individual with a broad mindset, who wants to

The Cultural Impact Of Electricity And The World We Live
In today s world nothing is more important than the gadgets we use on a every day to day basis. What
we take for granted sometimes is the thing we use most and most importantly we use to charge
everything most of the time is some type of electricity. I hope to provide a clear and concise paper that
details and gives the cultural impact of electricity and the world we live. This paper will hit on three
topics reconstruction to the beginning of where man first began to harness electricity, how man used
this electricity to change the course of history as we know it, and the positives as well as the negatives
of electricity and the world we live in.
Electricity is a form of energy involving the flow of electrons. All matter is made up of atoms, and an
atom has a center, called a nucleus. The nucleus contains positively charged particles called protons
and uncharged particles called neutrons (Joseph, 2002)The nucleus of an atom is surrounded by
negatively charged particles called electrons. The negative charge of an electron is equal to the
positive charge of a proton, and the number of electrons in an atom is usually equal to the number of
protons (Joseph, 2002).When the balancing force between protons and electrons is upset by an outside
force, an atom may gain or lose an electron. When electrons are lost from an atom, the free movement
of these electrons constitutes an electric current (Joseph, 2002). To understand electricity one must
know that it is not an invention but a

The Genetic Code Essay
In the year of 1920 a theory created by two different scientists was born, Russian Scientist/Chemist
A.I.Oparin and an English Geneticist J.B.S both developed this theory known as The Primordial Soup
Theory . This theory basically states that all life 3.8 3.5 billon years ago came from a tiny puddle filled
with amino acids and elements from Earth s atmosphere. An experiment to test this theory was called
Miller Urey experiment courtesy of scientist Stanley Miller and Harold Urey. In this experiment the
two used electric shocks/charges and were able to birth organic mixtures (compounds).Oparin and
J.B.S both stated that a solution of methane, hydrogen, vapored water, and ammonia could be
conjoined and made into amino acids. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Anyways this RNA world theory claims that RNA is the origin of all living organisms on planet earth.
Even though there is no experiment to back this hypothesis there is however research and claims in
Carl Woese s book by the name of The Genetic Code . RNA is a protein also known as ribonucleic
acid, both RNA and DNA house tons of our (human beings) genetic codes. Seeing that the theory says
that it might not be the exact origin of life on earth it stilled played a part in evolution. Also recent
cells and those that came before it were said to have evolved and bonded with enzyme compound to
make a unit. Enzymes bonded with RNA were stated that they made a system which stored and
created life and evolved. Community Clay Hypothesis states that biological (living) organisms have
ties to being evolved from clay. Hyrdogel clay (water substance clay) was believed to have formed
over billions of years consisting chemicals that were confined and begun to produce biological matter
of dioxyribose nucleic acid (DNA) and forms of proteins. These chemicals were said to have had
evolved and to have made complicated biological structures/materials. Sadly there s no evidence in the
form of experiment to back this claim up but further studies are showing that this theory might have

Social Identity Essay On Fishing
As a female college student, I have many identities. Some identities change, others don t, but either
way, they all have something in common they are each known as our social identity. One person can
have many social identities, just and many people can share a social identity. This phenomenon often
creates a common ground between people who may seem completely different. Social identities can
be anything for a lover of a certain type of music, sport, activity, or even just where these people are
from. I have moved a lot through my years, but no matter where I go, I can always find people who
share some of my social identities, which aids in feeling comfortable in a new place or situation.

I know this may sound harsh if you are not a hunter, but to hunters, it is more than just killing an
animal. It is retelling the stories of our ancestors, and providing us with the food God has provided for
us. When looking at types of hunting that take place, there are many different forms. The most popular
of which are deer hunting, squirrel hunting, turkey hunting, elk/moose hunting, and big game hunting.
Big game hunting is most often hunting done in other countries. Many times, it is found on the
continent of Africa, where people can big game hunt, where they hunt rhinos, elephants, lions, and
many other animals. Each type of hunting has certain people who love that type more than the others.
Often times, this itself is a big source of social identity within the realm of hunters. An important note
to make is how hunting is an ever decreasing part of our lives. An article talks about this decline and
mentions how From 1963 to 1967, the first years for which Alabama has data, an average of more than
113,000 hunters harvested more than 1 million rabbits a year. [And by the year of 2015] only 15,000
hunters harvested fewer than 100,000 rabbits. (Dewitt, A Vanishing

How technology affects society in Fahrenheit 451 and the real world Every day, everywhere people
are using technology to check email, calculate tax, and talk with each other. Technology has greatly
affected the social structure today and in Fahrenheit 451. Technology has effected how the TV
controls our lives, how we communicate with one another, and how strong the social structure is In
both the real world and Fahrenheit 451. Similarly to the real world, in Fahrenheit 451 the TV is a
habitual action that diminishes social contact. In the real world too much TV leads to the Mean World

Technology has similarly impacted how much the TV controls our lives and differently impacted

Summary Of My Papa s Waltz
The Waltz in a Ballroom of my Memory
A waltz is a beautiful dance done between two partners in 3 4ths time; a magical dance done
rhythmically around a ballroom. Cinderella and her prince did it; Belle and the Beast did it. Now we
see that Theodore Roethke and his father have done it. While the subject of My Papa s Waltz has
spurred passionate academic debates from professors, scholars, and students alike, the imagery,
syntax, and diction of the poem clearly supports the interpretation that Theodore Roethke wrote My
Papa s Waltz as a reflection on the short childhood memories he had with his father. Indeed, the theory
that the author s father was abusive, is agreeable to a point, I cannot accept the overall conclusion that
the whole poem was written as a reflection on the author s abuse from his father. The hand that held
my wrist[, w]as battered on one knuckle, Roethke states in stanza 3. Though one can see how the two
lines can be taken as if the father was firmly grasping the child s wrist, while at the same time, others
see it as a father gently holding ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although many can argue that this poem is entirely based on the abuse his father brought upon
Roethke, Many others believe that this poem is a reflection of his childhood memories, which the
author remembers fondly. Not only had Roethke s father died when he was a teenager, but his uncle, to
which he was very close to, committed suicide. Considering he was surrounded by a dense cloud of
death, It is obvious that the poem is about fond memories Roethke remembers about his father many
years ago. Roethke didn t have the best relationship with his father, there were some ups and downs,
to which we can all relate to. However, he loved his father more than anything, which is just as lovely

Solution Focused Therapy And Experiential Therapy
This term paper is about solution focused therapy and experiential therapy. In solution focused
therapy, the therapy does not emphasize the problem at all; it stresses and highlights the solution. The
client is the expert and not the therapist. The experiential approach is often used to facilitate
meaningful changes in individuals. SFBT is a short term goal focused therapeutic approach which
directs clients to focus on developing solutions, rather than on dwelling on problems. The theoretical
framework, how change occurs, therapeutic techniques, postmodern perspective, the role of the
therapist and some clinical examples are given in this term paper.
My Family Therapy Models Term Paper on Solution Focused Therapy and Experiential Therapy

family therapy in which I feel that I would be most effective and comfortable with would be,
experiential family therapy and solution focused brief therapy. I feel most comfortable with these
models because, I adapt to the role of the therapist of both therapies naturally. According to Nichols

Anti-Terrorism Policy In Canada
Anti terrorism policy has become a more important legislative issue since the September 11th incident
in 2001. Prior to this event, North American countries felt the need to implement new policy that
would protect their citizens from criminal activity associated with acts of terror. In Canada, anti
terrorism policy consists of three main components identified in the literature: 1) The criminal code

three will be analyzed based on whether or not the current policy is sufficiently protecting Canadians

The Effect Of Metal Content On Different Trophic Levels
The significant variations of metal content in species of the same and different trophic levels (Table

variability observed in the concentration of metals in terrestrial organisms. This may be bound up their
species specific ability of active excretion of heavy metal ions and/or their ecological characteristics
(Van Straalen and Van Wensem 1986; Grodziniska et al. 1987). This find is conforming to Mackay et

Manzala, and Pb of Al Tebbin until the fourth trophic level of the food web. In relation to the
bioaccumulation factors of metals along trophic levels, Zn shows the most consistent trend in both
regions (Table 3.3). Although the higher bioaccumulation factors for all metals were noted for primary
consumers at the second trophic level, bioaccumulation factors for Pb in El Manzala (3.7) and in Al
Tebbin (1.4) were higher at the third and fourth trophic levels, respectively. Lead of the two
investigated food webs had the highest frequency of biomagnification factors that are more than 1.0,
whereas the lowest frequency of bioaccumulation factors that are more than 1.0 was noted for Cd and
Zn. Among 46 bioaccumulation factors calculated for Pb, 26 were above 1.0, but at the same time, as
many as 18 were lower than 1.0. The minimum bioaccumulation value (Cd) reached as low as 0.001,
and the maximum one (Cd) reached as high as 50.0 in El Manzala.
Calculation of bioaccumulation factors values indicated that accumulation of heavy metals was more
frequent in arthropods and other taxa at lower trophic levels of the food web. In contrast,
concentrations of metals decreased in animal species at higher trophic levels, suggesting that the

The Greatest Known Prehistoric Individual
There is much information that is unknown to many about the world. It is reasonable that discovery
would fascinate many because of the ability to gain knowledge about the world. Learning about
ancestors can bring knowledge about how people in the past had lived and how it can be used to
compare today s society and culture. Written documents enhance the ability to understand the past.
These references are not available before the activity writing and recording was done. This time period
before writing and recording is called prehistory. In order to understand this period, one would obtain
knowledge from research done by evolutionary biologists archaeologists. There was an evolutions for
our ancestors called Homo sapiens. There was a paleolithic era and a Neolithic era that is significant
with the transition to agriculture. When archaeologists had discovered a skeleton of a woman who
died 3.2 million years ago, they had found the world s best known prehistoric individual. This skeleton
was put under the named Lucy. The skeleton was the best known prehistoric individual because it is
the most complete and preserved skeleton of any human ancestor. Lucy s species had the ability to use
dexterous hands to use tools and carry objects, which may be Lucy and her species was able to survive
better than other species. Similar to history, human ancestors are significant because there is the desire
to learn more about the past. After the Earth was created, the first living

Essay on Rti Act
The much talked about Right to Information Act came into force on October 12. The Union
government says the Act is revolutionary, as it opens all official departments across the country to
public scrutiny. The government also claims the new law will help it share power with the humblest,
and empower the weakest The Right to Information (RTI) Act is a law enacted by the Parliament of
India to provide for setting out the practical regime of right to information for citizens. It was passed
by Parliament on 15 June 2005 and came fully into force on 13 October 2005. The RTI Act mandates

At least, now alert citizens can slow down corrupt officers and politicians.Third, Indian politics will
hopefully mature as more information passes through the hands of political rivals, police, judiciary,
media and the people. The Act will reveal who is exploiting whom and how one can get justice for the
poor and the needy. The judiciary will now have better data to decide against the corrupt. That sounds
so far flung, doesn t it? Let us start from the district level. If the road leading to your town is washed
out in the first rains of the season, you might like to ask who was given the contract to build that road,
at what price and what the terms and conditions were. Was the contractor related to a Member of
Parliament or a member of legislative assembly in that area? During the building of that road, did any
government officer object to any deficiency or malpractice? Was there any communication in this
regard? The concerned departments will have to come up with answers in the stipulated period.
Some panchayats are run by local goons or the community caste heads. They bully people when
someone raises questions of accounts and money spent. The Sarpanch or development officers are
rarely forthcoming. Now, all resources and their distribution will have to be transparent on paper. The
RTI Act specifies that citizens have a right to: request any information

Brazil Party System Essay
Introduction: Political parties represent very important factor in order to have a democratic system in
particular and a democratic country in general, they work as the mediator between the society and the
state and the effectiveness of the party system in any country depend mainly on its ability to achieve
the demands of the public. However, in Latin America, not all the countries have that important
function of the party system. Brazil and Chile from the period of 1990 2006 show similar type of a

Gender Roles In The Elizabethan Era
The sexism rampant in the Elizabethan era bears many similarities to the sexism present today.
However, the world of the Elizabethan era, Shakespeare s time, has some differences with today s
world. This time period is named after the ruler in England at that time: Queen Elizabeth I. In the
Elizabethan era, theatre was a common form of entertainment for people of all social classes, but
audiences were often rowdy and loud. Because women were not allowed to be on stage, men often
played female roles. Additionally, women had many expectations placed on them and were very
politically and socially disadvantaged. Many of the acts of sexism that oppressed Elizabethan women
still happen in today s society. In fact, Elizabethan women s roles importance in ... Show more content

The gender roles of the Elizabethan era influence the plot and characters in Romeo and Juliet. Sexual
objectification gives the audience an idea of how the play treats women. Women s dependency on men
is something that frequently comes up. Women of the Elizabethan era like Juliet are limited in their
choice of who to marry and whether to marry. These reasons all apply to today, where sexual
objectification, men s power over women, and familial expectations limit women s lives. Still today,
women are often used as nothing but sexual objects or are killed for added drama in popular films.
Additionally, women s voices are often silenced in academic, business, and other settings due to the
same sexist beliefs about women being inferior from the Elizabethan era. Currently, women are often
pressured early on to think about having children and taking care of a family, similar to the
Elizabethan era. From this, it can be concluded that modern gender roles and sexism mirror those in

The Conflict Of Sophocles Antigone
Sophocles Antigone centers around a familial feud that develops between Antigone and Creon when
Antigone decides to bury her brother and Creon s niece, Polyneices. While Antigone believes that it is
her religious and familial duty to bury her brother, Creon objects, citing the Theban civil war which
took place right before the events of the play. Adhering to Greek literary tradition, Sophocles
ultimately seeks not just to entertain the audience but also to teach a moral lesson, in this case about
the consequences that ensue when a tyrannical ruler disobeys divine rule, violate religious obligation,
and attempt to place government over religion. In developing the plot and conflicts of the text,
Sophocles explores three unique but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When one considers Antigone s actions against period social norms, it becomes apparent that Antigone
serves as a foil to the established stereotype of a traditional Greek woman who is supposed to be pure,
soft spoken, and nearly subservient, much like Ismene is. Antigone s contradiction to societal norms
serves to emphasize the severity of Antigone s rebellion as one not only against Creon but also against
society as well. From this interaction, the audience can glean that Antigone is not only viewed as
rebellious because of her actions, but also because of her sex, which inherently exacerbates the
severity of her crime. Creon s first accusations against the perpetrator of the burial support this initial
claim. Creon refers to the criminal as a he and implies that Creon cannot fathom that a woman might
commit a crime against his rule. Thus, a theme of gender roles emerges, further showing Antigone s
idealism since Antigone believes that she is able to act in rebellion of the throne regardless of
established gender roles and that she has the same fervor to fight against wrongs perpetrated by the
government as any male would have. Such defiance gives Antigone the characterization of a double
minority in Theban society: first because she is a woman and secondly because she questions Creon s
rule. Moreover, as posited by Kirkwood, The

Growing Up Tethered By Sherry Turkle Essay
There are few places on this Earth, if any, where the possibilities are truly endless. However, if you
detach yourself from the physical world and emerge into the online world, you find that this just might
actually be accurate in this realm. The World Wide Web has had so much to offer to us since the early
1990s, but with this comes controversy. Unleashed onto a plane of seemingly immeasurable freedom
of anonymity, was the world ready for such responsibility? Since those early days when new emerging
technology changed our lives immensely, have we at all become a better place, or have we bitten off
more than we can chew, and doomed our human relations forever? Exploring these concepts are three
in depth articles, including: Growing Up Tethered by Sherry Turkle, The Loneliness of the
Interconnected by Charles Seife, and Cybersexism by Laurie Penny. Although it is thought that the
Internet brings the world together, it actually does not help us politically, culturally, and economically
like one would believe, as it makes us unable to be independent, isolates us from different points of
view, and encourages real world violence against women and other minority groups. One of the
overall concerns regarding easily accessible technology is our dependency on it. When we take a
closer look, we see an interesting dynamic: we feel a sense of isolation and danger if we are without
our technology, so much so that we risk even further greater danger (literally and figuratively)

The Effects of Caffeine on Daphnia
This experiment is to see The Affect of Caffeine on Daphnia. Daphnia is also known as a water flea. It
is a distant relative of crabs and shrimps. (Marshall Cavendish, 2002) Daphnia have a hard external
skeleton with jointed appendages and limbs. The head contains a large central eye which is made of
two eyes joined together. Daphnia has two pairs of antennae which are used for swimming. Each
daphnia has five pairs of limbs. These limbs lie in a certain space under the body bounded by the
carapace. (Marshall Cavendish, 2002) A carapace is a hard upper shell or chitinous outer covering on
the back of some animals. The daphnia is well preserved because of its shells which are composed of
chitin. The usual size of this microorganism is about 0.2 0.3 mm; they look like flat disks. Their
bodies are divided into three parts head, thorax, and abdomen. The head is typically dome shaped with
five pairs of appendages. Among these five are two pairs of antennae; there is a small pair and a larger
pair. The smaller pair of antennae serves as a sensory function and the larger one is used for
swimming. The other three appendages purpose is to secure food they intake. (Michael Hutchins,
2003) The thorax holds four to six pairs of legs that are used for gathering food, filtering water, or
grasping mates. There are over 400 species of daphnia and they are distributed worldwide. Daphnia
uses their thoracic legs to produce a constant current of water; this allows them to filter food

Military Bearing Essay
The United States Army is structured on several values and principles that it upholds, among these are
military bearing, discipline and respect. These principles represents what the organization strongly
believes in and governs the most basic customs and courtesies that all its members should abide by,
otherwise legal repercussion and punishment is enforced that could ultimately result in separation
from the organization. The standards must be met by Soldiers or they can face a number of
repercussions such as, barring from re enlistment or even separation. Non commissioned officers
should always uphold the standards so that all Soldiers know what they are and what can happen to
them if they do not meet the standard. One is to observe a sense of calmness even in the most stressful
situations, leaders of the United States Army should maintain their military bearing even in situations
where it seems chaotic, out of control or a civilian would respond in panic. The reasoning behind this
goes back to situations where non commissioned officers would have to make fast decisions in a war
zone that may impact the lives of their Soldiers. In a battlefield situation their Soldiers are relying on
their non commissioned officer to make a quick decision and trusting that decisions made are the best
out of all situations given. Non commissioned officers should be able to make big decisions with all

indicates that smaller homes are selling more frequently. During the last year, the average price per

low rise buildings. In the last decade, many buildings have been transformed into luxury, high end

Pros And Cons Of The Keystone Pipeline

Many of the opponents argue the pipeline only creates temporary jobs for two years during
construction, and continually report the lower end estimated economic benefits. In contrast, the
proponents typically exaggerate the economic benefits proclaim the lasting stimulus the project will
provide. The truth usually lies somewhere in between. Undoubtedly, the construction phase of the
project will provide the most immediate benefit to the US economy than the operation and
maintenance phases of the project. During the construction phase, it is estimated that $3.4 billion
dollars would be added to the U.S. gross domestic product (GDP). Of that, roughly $2.05 billion
would be earmarked for employee earnings related to the construction phase. However, after the
construction phase, approximately only 50 permanent employees and 15 temporary contractors would
remain to operate the pipeline. (Department of State, 2017) Evidently, this project will not provide a
long term windfall of economic stimulus. Nevertheless, $2.05 billion dollars in employee earnings in
the next two years during slower economic times is nothing to write

M in the infant room. During the observation there were two teachers, and 7 infants. The room that the
observation took place in had many toys such as: balls, bouncers, walkers, rattles, and soft plush
books. There was also a play mat where all the toys were, and two rocking chairs in the room. During
this observation I focused on 6 different developmental domains. In my paper I am going to discuss
perception, motor skills, cognitive ability, communication/language, social skills, and emotions.
Perception is how the infant incorporates his/her 5 senses into what they are exploring, and reacting
too. During my observation Baby M reacted to sights, sounds, and touching. According to the book
haptic perception is perception of the properties of an object using touch (Fogel, 2011. PG 152). Baby
M placed the balls and teethers directly in her mouth to get a better idea or perception of what the toy
was. Although she is at the age where she knew what each toy was she still explored it using her
mouth. Baby M also showed signs of auditory development by listening to what the caregiver was
saying to her and responding with positive emotions when told to do something.

Compare And Contrast Sonny Blues And The Rich Brother

If there is any one secret of success, it lies in the ability to get the other person s point of view and see
things from that person s angle as well as from your own (brainyquotes). In Tobias Wolff The Rich
Brother and James Baldwin s Sonny Blues it shows how a difference views of life can be the barrier

Also it is not useful for obtaining continuous values of temperature at small intervals. It also depends
on the skill of the user. ADVANTAGES
Pyrometers are widely used these days due the following advantages:
1) Fast response time Pyrometers have very short response time. In the case of normal thermometers
,the probe must first reach the same temperature of the object and this takes time due to thermal
conduction. But in the case of pyrometers, the radiation is being measured and the temperature is
shown.
2) Affect on temperature and material As an optical pyrometer uses a portion of the energy radiated by
the target object, it does not affect the temperature of the target in the act of measuring .Also the life of
contact free measuring devices is more in comparison to the thermo elements as the latter gets
damaged due to wear and tear.
3) Measuring moving objects Due to its short response time, pyrometers can be used to measure the
temperature of fast moving

New And Destructive Gun
I have read the Tennessean from August 2010. I found some interesting articles throughout it. I was
limitedly interested when I read the main headline, Suffrage Amendment Adopted by House. Then I
went on to reading the article, Weekend Golf Tourney Honors Vet Ted Rhodes. It caught my attention
because my dad is a veteran. Lastly, I found the article titled, New and Destructive Gun very
interesting to read about. These three articles all hold different historical value. ????
The first one I looked was the Suffrage Amendment Adopted by House. This appeared in the
Nashville Tennessean, August 19, 1920. This article was about giving women the right to vote.
Tennessee was the thirty sixth state to pass the amendment. This gave the United States ... Show more

This is because the current news about the dropping of the MOAB Mother of All Bombs the past week
coupled with the news talk of Korea shooting off a large weapon. I think this article is historically
valuable because at the time it was the best thing out there for them. It is historical for the gun industry
and the protection of our country since it was designed for war. There are no biased opinions in this
article, it was more statements of facts. I enjoyed learning about this gun in this article I read. This is a
very short, but good

  • 2. A History of Submissive Women in Literature The feminine gender has long been one that has been repressed throughout history and forced to acclimate itself to a world dominated by men. Although major improvements have been made in the strife for equality, this continues to be a man s world. In the short stories The Chrysanthemums and A Rose for Emily, as well as in the drama A Doll s House, the protagonists are all frustrated women who are unfulfilled with their subservient lives. Partly imposed upon them by their setting s historical and societal norms, they choose to either do something about it or continue to internalize their dissatisfaction. When analyzing these pieces of literature, it becomes quite obvious which of the protagonists fall under the category of those ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Elizabeth Hardwick, Nora is intrinsically independent and free spirited from the very beginning of the play (294). Unni Langås also wrote an essay on Ibsen s drama and about Nora s specific motives. He wrote, When she performs acts that are generally reserved for men, or withdraws from practices associated with women, she shows the gender attribution of these acts to be social constructions and thereby contests their reified status (157). So, Langås claims that Nora s rebellion and discontent began long before she literally walked out on Trovald, her husband. The events that eventually unfolded at the end of the play and that lead her to finally leave her husband were just those last straws that broke the camel s back. Before her final stage exit, Ibsen has Nora say, For eight years I have been patiently waiting, enforcing this idea of long lived frustration (3.1107). Again, this idea of the rebellious woman at the end of the nineteenth century was not only reserved to post Civil War America as was the case with Emily Grierson. Nora Helmer and her insurgence, against all ethical and moral norms of society at the time, did not go unnoticed in Northern Europe. According to Marilyn Yalom, The idea that a respectable woman should renounce her role as wife and mother, leave her husband and children, and strike out on her own was seen ... • 3. Ischemic Stroke Case Study Paper Case Study: Patient with Ischemic Stroke Mrs. Alice Palmer is a 54 year old married woman who has been admitted and is being treated with an ischemic stroke which she had 18 hours ago. This paper explores the nursing care of Mrs. Alice Palmer based on the clinical reasoning cycle by considering her situation first, collecting cues and information about her, processing the information gathered, then identifying problems or issues she is experiencing, and finally carrying out a detailed assessment. Also, the paper focuses on setting goals and establishing a nursing care plan in the community, and target ethnically safe practice. Ischemic stroke occurs when the brain tissue does not receive sufficient oxygenated blood due to an obstruction of the carotid artery (Brunner, Suddarth, Smeltzer, 2008). When the brain does not receive enough oxygenated blood, some or all of its tissues may get damaged ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Alice Palmer has a mild brain tissue damage associated with the ischemic stroke as evidenced by a Glasgow Coma Scale score of 15. On the other hand, she has a normal heart rate of 89 beats per minute (HR 89) and a blood pressure of 155/90 mmHg. A blood pressure of 155/90 mmHg is an indication of stage 1 hypertension. Mrs. Alice Palmer is hypertensive because she refused to take medication while she was at home (Grace Meissner, 2011; Fortrat Gharib, 2016). Further, Mrs. Alice Palmer has a left sided hemiparesis which indicates damage to the right side of the brain. Left sided hemiparesis is a weak muscle tone of the left side of the body which leads to faded movement and carrying out self care activities such as dressing, bathing, and grabbing objects (Fischer et al., 2016). Moreover, damage to the right side of the brain is associated with poor memory since the limbic system is located in that region (Usher Marriott, 2011). Also, Mrs. Alice had a bilateral visual field deficit because of the mild brain tissue damage associated with the ischemic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Reaction Paper On Happiness And Happiness INCOME AND HAPPINESS The idea of happiness and what makes one happier, is drawing a great deal of scholarly attentions. Happiness can also be determined by how satisfied one feels in his/her life. Graham, Zhou, and Zhang (2017), observed that, using data from the Chinese Livelihood survey, mental health hugely affects happiness, whereas physical health significantly impacts mental health (p.242). Demir (2010) found that the quality of mother and best friend relationships were the predictors of happiness among emerging adults without romantic partners, while the quality of romantic relationship and mother appeared to be the predictors of happiness among those involved in romantic relationship (p.310). Happiness is also associated with faith and religion, however, Edling, Rydgren, and Bohman (2014) found no positive affect of religion on happiness, instead, membership in non religious, social organization, and clubs emerged to be the factors that drive happiness in a country like Sweden with low aggregate level of religiosity (p.621). Similarly, decent number of researchers associated happiness with wealth and income. Easterlin (2001) argues that there is positive relationship between happiness and income over the short run, however, the level of happiness remains constant among cohorts over the long run due to the equivalent increase in their material aspiration (p.465 681). Merely by your presence and watching, you cannot help but feel that you are somehow changing or influencing the class and the students that make it up. My observations took place in two settings, the first and my primary observation source, was at Children s Garden Montessori School in El Cerrito, my daughter s school, it is a private pre school with children ages two to five. My second observation was the Fit Kids program at my local Berkeley YMCA, this program was created for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this stage students are learning how to be moral, intellectually curious, and independent. The third plane, from twelve to eighteen years is a psychologically unstable place where the adolescent is trying to form the person they will be as they enter into society. This period is creative, but students also express difficulty in concentration as they try to relate to peer groups and the outside world, to find self esteem and define who they are. The fourth plane is when a student enters the world and hopefully becomes a social aware and monetarily successful member of society. To Maria Montessori her final and real goal was a student population that graduated her program with a sense that they had a duty to society, to be strong moral leaders and increase peace. Teachers, she said, must set a good example if there is to be a good humanity (Montessori, 1949). Although the philosophy of Montessori education intersects greatly with progressivism, the schools were often placed at odds with one another. A contemporary, collaborator, and student of John Dewey, William Kilpatrick, orchestrated a series of lectures and writings that discounted Montessori s teaching philosophy as egocentric and restrictive. He said that the learning materials created hindered the imagination of the teacher and the emphasis on the individual would lead to an entire generation of ill behaved egomaniacs (Shortridge, 2007). His critiques in combination with American educators ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. My Life Paragonned to the Women in the Asher Lev Books by... Asher Lev, an artist is a person first. He is an individual. If there is no person, there is no artist (Chaim Potok). An individual with different characteristics has a different mindset, attitude, confidence and respect from those around them. • 7. The Cultural Impact Of Electricity And The World We Live In today s world nothing is more important than the gadgets we use on a every day to day basis. What we take for granted sometimes is the thing we use most and most importantly we use to charge everything most of the time is some type of electricity. I hope to provide a clear and concise paper that details and gives the cultural impact of electricity and the world we live. This paper will hit on three topics reconstruction to the beginning of where man first began to harness electricity, how man used this electricity to change the course of history as we know it, and the positives as well as the negatives of electricity and the world we live in. Electricity is a form of energy involving the flow of electrons. All matter is made up of atoms, and an atom has a center, called a nucleus. The nucleus contains positively charged particles called protons and uncharged particles called neutrons (Joseph, 2002)The nucleus of an atom is surrounded by negatively charged particles called electrons. The negative charge of an electron is equal to the positive charge of a proton, and the number of electrons in an atom is usually equal to the number of protons (Joseph, 2002).When the balancing force between protons and electrons is upset by an outside force, an atom may gain or lose an electron. When electrons are lost from an atom, the free movement of these electrons constitutes an electric current (Joseph, 2002). To understand electricity one must know that it is not an invention but a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Genetic Code Essay In the year of 1920 a theory created by two different scientists was born, Russian Scientist/Chemist A.I.Oparin and an English Geneticist J.B.S both developed this theory known as The Primordial Soup Theory . An experiment to test this theory was called Miller Urey experiment courtesy of scientist Stanley Miller and Harold Urey. While the subject of My Papa s Waltz has spurred passionate academic debates from professors, scholars, and students alike, the imagery, syntax, and diction of the poem clearly supports the interpretation that Theodore Roethke wrote My Papa s Waltz as a reflection on the short childhood memories he had with his father. When one considers Antigone s actions against period social norms, it becomes apparent that Antigone serves as a foil to the established stereotype of a traditional Greek woman who is supposed to be pure, soft spoken, and nearly subservient, much like Ismene is. Antigone s contradiction to societal norms serves to emphasize the severity of Antigone s rebellion as one not only against Creon but also against society as well. From this interaction, the audience can glean that Antigone is not only viewed as rebellious because of her actions, but also because of her sex, which inherently exacerbates the severity of her crime. Creon s first accusations against the perpetrator of the burial support this initial claim. Creon refers to the criminal as a he and implies that Creon cannot fathom that a woman might commit a crime against his rule. Thus, a theme of gender roles emerges, further showing Antigone s idealism since Antigone believes that she is able to act in rebellion of the throne regardless of established gender roles and that she has the same fervor to fight against wrongs perpetrated by the government as any male would have. Such defiance gives Antigone the characterization of a double minority in Theban society: first because she is a woman and secondly because she questions Creon s rule. • 27. Growing Up Tethered By Sherry Turkle Essay There are few places on this Earth, if any, where the possibilities are truly endless. However, if you detach yourself from the physical world and emerge into the online world, you find that this just might actually be accurate in this realm. The World Wide Web has had so much to offer to us since the early 1990s, but with this comes controversy. Unleashed onto a plane of seemingly immeasurable freedom of anonymity, was the world ready for such responsibility? Since those early days when new emerging technology changed our lives immensely, have we at all become a better place, or have we bitten off more than we can chew, and doomed our human relations forever? Exploring these concepts are three in depth articles, including: Growing Up Tethered by Sherry Turkle, The Loneliness of the Interconnected by Charles Seife, and Cybersexism by Laurie Penny. Although it is thought that the Internet brings the world together, it actually does not help us politically, culturally, and economically like one would believe, as it makes us unable to be independent, isolates us from different points of view, and encourages real world violence against women and other minority groups. One of the overall concerns regarding easily accessible technology is our dependency on it. When we take a closer look, we see an interesting dynamic: we feel a sense of isolation and danger if we are without our technology, so much so that we risk even further greater danger (literally and figuratively) ... (Marshall Cavendish, 2002) Daphnia have a hard external skeleton with jointed appendages and limbs. The head contains a large central eye which is made of two eyes joined together. Daphnia has two pairs of antennae which are used for swimming. Each daphnia has five pairs of limbs. These limbs lie in a certain space under the body bounded by the carapace. (Marshall Cavendish, 2002) A carapace is a hard upper shell or chitinous outer covering on the back of some animals. The daphnia is well preserved because of its shells which are composed of chitin. The usual size of this microorganism is about 0.2 0.3 mm; they look like flat disks. Their bodies are divided into three parts head, thorax, and abdomen. The head is typically dome shaped with five pairs of appendages. Among these five are two pairs of antennae; there is a small pair and a larger pair. The smaller pair of antennae serves as a sensory function and the larger one is used for swimming. The other three appendages purpose is to secure food they intake. (Michael Hutchins, 2003) The thorax holds four to six pairs of legs that are used for gathering food, filtering water, or grasping mates. There are over 400 species of daphnia and they are distributed worldwide. Daphnia uses their thoracic legs to produce a constant current of water; this allows them to filter food ... These principles represents what the organization strongly believes in and governs the most basic customs and courtesies that all its members should abide by, otherwise legal repercussion and punishment is enforced that could ultimately result in separation from the organization. The standards must be met by Soldiers or they can face a number of repercussions such as, barring from re enlistment or even separation. Non commissioned officers should always uphold the standards so that all Soldiers know what they are and what can happen to them if they do not meet the standard. One is to observe a sense of calmness even in the most stressful situations, leaders of the United States Army should maintain their military bearing even in situations where it seems chaotic, out of control or a civilian would respond in panic. The reasoning behind this goes back to situations where non commissioned officers would have to make fast decisions in a war zone that may impact the lives of their Soldiers. There was also a play mat where all the toys were, and two rocking chairs in the room. During this observation I focused on 6 different developmental domains. In my paper I am going to discuss perception, motor skills, cognitive ability, communication/language, social skills, and emotions. Perception is how the infant incorporates his/her 5 senses into what they are exploring, and reacting too. During my observation Baby M reacted to sights, sounds, and touching. According to the book haptic perception is perception of the properties of an object using touch (Fogel, 2011. PG 152). Baby M placed the balls and teethers directly in her mouth to get a better idea or perception of what the toy was. Although she is at the age where she knew what each toy was she still explored it using her mouth. Baby M also showed signs of auditory development by listening to what the caregiver was saying to her and responding with positive emotions when told to do something. The second domain ... It intercepts and measures the thermal radiation emitted by the object, a process called pyrometry. The word pyrometer originated from the Greek word for fire, πυρ (pyro) and meter meaning to measure.
