book is quite simple, and can be summarized while using only a short number of sentences.
Scenes in the book move slowly, though it never seems to drag on. The writing style makes up

could, though it didn t necessarily make me not like the book. My main problem character wise
was with Lila, a no nonsense, tough girl that prefers to dress androgynously. She is a paragon of

knew the moment she was introduced that she would be kissing Kell by halfway through the

wishes with. His first wish is a wife, and the kings gives him a wife. Later on, the wife becomes

The option to genetically modify food seemed the lesser of two evils, to those that would turn a

Miep Gies. After students had written their letters, Mrs. Gruwell was able to find and transport
Mrs. Gies to the school in order to have an in person interaction between her and the students.
This proved to be one of the most impressive parts of Mrs. Gruwell s career because the students
were able to meet someone that they truly expressed gratitude towards. In a similar way, Mrs.

Another aspect of diction that Stuff You Should Know utilizes effectively is simplicity, it is
important to keep diction simple and clear in order to create a sense of cohesiveness when
speaking which also allows the listeners to understand the points being made. For instance The
laws governing the regulation of cosmetics have not changed in any way, shape or form (23:45,
episode 1). When one of the hosts were talking the law in terms of cosmetic safety and how it has
been unmodified since a century ago, he uses very simplistic terms in order to keep his points
clear, cohesive and easy to follow from the perspective of the listener. This is important as many
podcasts do not give enough recognition into the importance of keeping your diction simple at
certain points in order to allow the listener to fully understand the point being made.
There were some negative applications of diction throughout some of the episodes, where the
diction was far too simple which lead to vagueness and confusion. For instance I wish I was into

and incohesive in painting a picture in the reader s mind or persuading them to ascertain to a point
