The Los Angeles County Museum Of Art
For my enrichment report, I decided to take a trip to the Los Angeles County Museum. However, I
was trapped with the challenging choice of choosing only one museum for my cultural visit. Since,
there are so many prodigious and amazing museums to choose from to visit in the county. But, I have
heard many great feedbacks about the Los Angeles County Museum of Art from fellow classes mates,
friends and family. So, I finally, had my destination set to and planned a visit to the Los Angeles
County Museum of Art. Upon my visit my attention was already fixated on the unique building layout
and the many arts exhibited located all around the outside of the museum building. There were several
building that housed the many different art exhibits. Such as the first building I walked into, after
purchasing a ticket. This building was called the Ahmanson building, which housed voluminous and
diverse art of the European, Islamic, South and Southeast Asian Art, Art of the Ancient World, Art of
the Pacific and Others. There were also many special exhibitions that was hosted at the time of my
visit, such as the modern art gallery and Rifkin Gallery for German Expressionism. One of the
sculpture centered in the middle of the building of the Ahmanson building called Smoke really caught
my attention. As it quite an enigmatic and stunning metal sculpture that mesmerizes illusions based on
your interpretation and perspective of the piece. Granted, there were defiantly a lot of sensational

Retrospective Analysis Anthropology
Anthropological analyses always starts with a question, and, in regards to Mythology, majority of the
questions are asked in retrospect. This retrospective analysis is a very scientific and alienating way of
approaching myth a cultural component who s roots are planted in a deeply social and emotional
practices. Years of inquiry and speculation have resulted in anthropologists coming up with numerous
methodologies and practices to explain exactly how one needs to approach the study of myth thats
best reveals its function. Most of the methods are broken down and explained in a series of steps,
much like a lab experiment as if the only way for anthropologists to write about cultural phenomena is
to abstract themselves from myth s present ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Right away this assertion distances Malinowski and the culture he belongs to from myth. His method
of studying myth is more complex than Rooth s. Rooth s paper presents and breaks down all variations
of the creation myth in North America. After laying out the eight different types of the creation myth,
Rooth concludes, myth has geographical boundaries . Malinowski tries to justify his claim that myth
can help us understand the behaviors and customs of the people who tell them. Right at the beginning
of his essay he makes a comparison that puts forth the idea that when a society becomes civilized and
more developed, religion usurps mythology: this myth is to the savage what, to a fully believing
Christian, is the Biblical story of Creation... (Malinowski). Malinowski refers to primitive cultures as
savage because they think about myth in religious terms. He tries to separate from mythology by
calling myth a pragmatic charter and by dwelling mentally for sometime among people of much
simpler culture than our own, we maybe able to see ourselves from a distance (Malinowski). Calling
myth charter he imposes the socioeconomic concerns of Europe at the time on primitive myth and
implies that it can only exist to validate custom and institution myth for Malinowski will always state

Individuals Bulimia Nervosa As An Oedipal Condition
individuals bulimia nervosa can be conceptualized as an oedipal condition, in which individuals use
food to express and manage threatening feelings associated with the drama of oedipal desire and
rivalry. The rapid cycling of over control and loss of control eating in bulimia nervosa can be viewed
as a symbolic representation of conflict related to disavowed oedipal desires. In bingeing episodes,
food is something that is desirous, almost enticing to the point that it is consumed beyond satiation. In
restricting episodes, food is repugnant to the bulimic patient, something to be avoided and restricted at
all costs. Interpersonally, bulimic patients who are fixated at an oedipal stage of development are
likely to relate to others in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The oedipal bulimic patient clearly experiences a wish to triumph over the mother by becoming
thinner and thus more desirable. However, the bulimic woman appears to sabotage her own ambitions
for thinness. This is likely an expression of castration anxiety or rather fear of retaliation by the
maternal object. This anxiety is expressed in ambivalent feelings about the body. Conceptually, this
hypothesis seems to have support from empirical research demonstrating that most eating disorders
surface during adolescence, a period of tremendous growth and development (Ringer Crittenden,
2007). Most threatening to women with bulimia, physical and sexual maturation forces young girls to
deal with the reality of growing into a sexually mature being, which may induce feelings of guilt and
fear of mother s disapproval. By frequently regurgitating meals, bulimic women are able to resist or at
minimum have greater control over their development. Yet, unlike anoretic women, bulimic women
are clearly conflicted about their bodies. The anoretic patient prizes her emaciated physical state
which presents her as child like and less feminine. The bulimic patient appears more conflicted about
her body as part of her welcomes the opportunity to compete for father s attention. For young women
with bulimia, the changing nature of her body is both terrifying and exciting. Intrapsychically,
individuals fixated at

Critical Reasoning And Battle Analysis Of Fort Wagner
Critical Reasoning and Battle Analysis of Fort Wagner The purpose of this narrative is to detail the
battle of Fort Wagner during the Civil War. This focus explains the defeat of Union forces and how the
implementation of intelligence assets may have resulted in Union victory. The use of reconnaissance
and scout assets by Union forces would have resulted in the success of the Union Army at Fort
Wagner. Fort Wagner was a key stronghold for Confederate forces, securing the Charleston Harbor
and protecting passage to the Rebel birthplace and Confederate capital of Charleston, South Carolina.
Union regiments stormed the beaches of Morris Island on 10 July 1863 with the intention of assuming
control over Fort Wagner. The Confederate forces fortified the camp with artillery and mortars,
thwarting the Union Regiments advances. The use of intelligence assets would have revealed the
Confederate Army s disposition, allowing the Union Army to refine their attack strategy and conclude
with the success of the Union. The Battle of Fort Wagner Battle Overview The battle of Fort Wagner
took place in July of 1863 on Morris Island in Charleston, South Carolina. The battle commenced on
10 July 1863 and concluded on 18 July 1863 with the defeat of the Union Regiments. The Confederate
Forces were 1700 strong and were led by Generals P.G.T Beauregard and General William B.

Examples Of Stereotypes In Beauty And The Beast
Beauty and the Beast
How much does one s judgement affect their view of someone, from strangers to close relatives?
Stereotypes and stigmas are attached to everyone and everything. The first thought that an individual
may affiliate with when seeing Beauty and the Beast is Disney. Beauty and the Beast by Beaumont
was created with a twist that doesn t have the fairy tale touch you usually see in a Disney movie.
Although this short story may have its similarities to Disney s rendition, The Beauty and the Beast is
far from being the same. This story, Beauty and the Beast , shows readers that your first thought to an
idea may not be the right one. One must look deeper into an idea to find the true intentions of it; it
gives a deeper look into morals.
In continuation, there are various parts throughout the story where the main idea keeps being
introduced. For example, when Beast is first introduced he is portrayed as an irrational monster for
threatening the father with death over a flower. In reality, he isn t the antagonist here because the
Beast accommodated the father and without hesitation made him his guest. He had already given him
much of his hospitality, so he felt disrespected that the father, on his way out, would still be in need of
more. Another example that supports this main idea is when Beauty initially arrives to the castle and is
automatically intimidated by the Beast and its looks. For example, when analyzing the text, her fears
are expressed by her

The World s Greatest Satirist
The World s Greatest Satirist
James Thurber is a satirist. Satire is the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and
criticize people s stupidity or vices. It is also deliberate. His writing is full of common sense, humor,
and irony. The characters in his stories work extra hard to end up using simple solutions. The diction
in all his stories is very clear and simple. His writing is meant for everyone in every class and every
age group. The style and content of his stories make them timeless and relatable to anyone, even the
people about whom he is making fun. Richard Tobias has the best description of Thurber s humoristic
displays. Tobias says:

Also, his first wife, much like his mother, was a nut case. His father was a meek man who let his wife
run amok despite knowing she was a loose cannon. These characters in his life influence and
epitomize the characters in his stories. Thurber writes about decisions in life, and while he may be
using bunnies and wolves to make the examples, the realities he portrays most are revenge,
materialism, and cowardice. To externalize Thurber s inner discomposure toward women, he tends to
use his pieces to ridicule the fairer sex. His fiction imitates his life, and his life was filled with scorn
and contempt for the path to which he was pinned. Thurber also writes quite a bit about morals. In all
the following stories the moral is a variation of: Go with you first instinct.
Unicorn in the Garden is a story about a woman with contempt for her excitable husband. She sees an
opportunity to have him sent to the loony bin and takes it. However, she is the one who ends up in the
booby hatch. As soon as the husband had gone out of the house, the wife got up and dressed as fast as
she could. She was very excited and there was a gloat in her eye. She telephoned the police and she
telephoned a psychiatrist; she told them to hurry to her house and bring a strait jacket. She is a coward
here. She waits until he leaves the room to call the psychiatrist. Clearly, she is jealous of him in some
way. It is not clear why she has such distain for her

Contribution Margins for Lewis Company
Contribution Margins for Lewis Company Lewis Company has been using absorption costing to
assess the cost of the modules they manufacture. The use of a variable income statement may allow
the firm to make better decision regarding pricing as it will allow for increased transparency and
easier calculation of the number of units which will need to be solid to break even. The first stage is to
convert the income statement into a contribution statement. Contribution Statements To prepare the
contribution margin statement it is necessary to assess which costs are variable and which are fixed.
The variable costs are those which are incurred as each unit is produced, varying with the production
levels, while the fixed costs remain the same regardless of the level of production (Bragg, 2012). The
foundation of contribution costing is to deduct the variable costs from the revenue that is realized for
each unit sold, this is known as the contribution as it is this surplus of revenue after variable costs will
contribute towards the fixed costs, and then provide for the profit (Drury, 2006; Watts, 2004). The
absorption statement may be converted into a contrition statement as shown in table 1. Table SEQ

Powdery Mildew Research Paper
Powdery mildew is cause by a biotrophic, obligate fungus Uncinula necator now known as Erysiphe
necator (Schw.) Burr (Sall, M. A. 1980). It is the most devastating and widespread disease of
grapevine in the world and causes the significant loss to grape yield and quality (Gadoury et al. 2012).
This is the major grape vine disease causing significant yield reduction each year in California, which
is the top grape producing state in the United States (Gubler et al. 1999). This disease infect all the
commercially grown grape species, but the susceptibility differs with cultivars.
This disease first produces a chlorotic spot on the upper surface of leaf and the chorotic spot produces
whitish gray powdery fungal growth on the upper surface of the leaf and other infected plant parts.
The white webby mycelium also produced on subsequent lower surface. This pathogen affects all the
green tissue such as leaf, branch, and fruits. The young fruits ... Show more content on

Ascospores can be produced with the help of 0.1 inch of rainfall and temperature of about 500 F.
Ascospores are dispersed with the help of wind and primary infection takes place on the host.
Secondary infection occurs through conidia, which are produced on infected plant parts (lesion) and
dusty powdery growth appears on the surface with whitish mycelial growth. Conidia cause the
secondary infection throughout the growing season. Infection can takes place in the temperatures from
590 F to 900 F, but the temperature from 680 to 770 F are optimum temperature for infection. Fungus
can overwinter as mycelia inside the dormant bud, which produced disease shoot after breading bud.
High relative humidity is conducive for conidia production, but rainfall is not good for infection that
reduces the infection by this pathogen (Carrol et al.

A Critique on The Sociopath Next Door
Down the street, in our workplaces, seemingly under our beds Harvard Medical Professor Martha
Stout s Sociopath Next Door: The Ruthless vs. The Rest of Us sends the reader into a state of frightful
paranoia when she mentions that a staggering 1 in 25, 4%, persons is, in fact, a sociopath. A sociopath,
as Stout asserts, is a person with the lack of a conscience, thus a person not concerned with the
suffering of others, to worry only about itself. She goes on to tell us that, because the rate of
sociopaths in our society is so high, we must have already met hundreds without knowing it, due to
the elusive and enigmatic nature of this psychological disease. However, a rational thinker can clearly
see the flaws in the conceptions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moving on, any skeptic reading this book would surely have a plethora of questions for the professor.
How, exactly, does one come up with the statistic of 1/25 in regards to the ratio of sociopaths to
normal people? This question is rather baffling because, in the book, Stout states that there are many
sociopaths which feign emotion for the sole purpose of progressing in life. How, then, do these people,
faking a conscious, admit themselves to being a full fledged sociopath when they have been lying to
themselves and others around them for the bulk of their lives? Stout either did not factor these
individuals into her statistical evaluation, which would mean a great number more of sociopaths than
perceived through this book, or that Stout, with this knowledge, made a conjecture. In any case,
especially in the latter, this statistic cannot be trusted and should therefore not be taken as hard fact.
Another gaping problem in this book is the lack of perspective provided by Stout in regards to a true
sociopath, one that admits they have not remorse, no conscience; one who only wants to win. It would
have been an eye opening experience to truly view the world through the eyes of a sociopath, which
could have been accomplished through the course of a simple question and answer style interview.
While this book is clearly not perfect, it does have its redeeming qualities. The simple

Gold Rush Thesis
The Gold Rush pioneered the way for many people to seek and find their own glory. From around the
time of 1848 to early 1850 s, thousands of people across the world were flooding in to the vast
mountains of the Sierra Nevada in California. Discovered early on in 1848, it took no time for the
eastern side of the United Sates to hear of the strike and wanted a piece of striking it rich. This
magnified history and became one of the most significant events to shape America in the first half of
the 19th century. Many people did fail in their search for glory but those few who succeeded in The
Gold Rush, would soon find that their lives would change forever. Gold was an unknown to many

Marshall and Sutter both wanted to keep the news of the discovery a secret; as they wanted it all for
themselves. That turned out to not be the case as word got out and by mid March, at least one
newspaper was flooding the news with how much gold was being unearthed at Sutter s Mill. Many did
not believe this notion of discovery and thought of it as more of a political stunt. Though in disbelief,
a storekeeper by the name of Sam Brannan set of a frenzy when he displayed through town a vial of
gold attained from Sutter s Creek. This made people believe in the discovery and no later than mid
June, roughly three fourths of the male population of San Francisco had left to the gold mines for their
portion. And by August of 1848, the numbers of miners in the area reached 4,000. As news spread of
the fortunes being made in California, people from all over the world came flooding in. The first came
were from lands that were accessible by boat, such as Oregon, the Sandwich Islands (now Hawaii),
Mexico, Chile, Peru, and even China. When reports did reach the east coast, people were more
skeptical. Though the Gold fever soon caught them, President at the time James K. Polk, announced
the positive results of a report of the finding of gold in California and actually included it in his
inaugural address. This really made people believe in the Gold Rush discovery and the race was on to

The Pros And Cons Of US Budget Deficit Spending
Unfortunate for some Presidents, they experienced a terrible recession during their terms in the office.
In the modern day President Obama was one example, in 2008 the United States hit her worst
recession in the past sixty years (Schmidt, Shelley, Bardes, 2010 2011). The President took a drastic
move with the support of the Congress and passed the largest stimulus package in the history of the
United States. According to government Authors Schmidt, Shelley, Bardes, the Congressional Budget
Office argued the spending could lead to a federal government budget deficit of a $1.6 Trillion in 2009
(2010 2011). The debt is still hanging around of about five percent of the GDP going all the way
through 2019 even though the recession is over the nation still have the huge deficit (Schmidt, Shelley,

Critically assess the view that we are not responsible for our evil actions
Many Philosophers, such as Hoderich and John Calvin, believe that humans do not have free will to
act in moral situations and that all moral actions have uncontrollable prior causes. Hard determinists,
therefore, follow the belief that humans can not be morally blameworthy for their actions, evil or not,
because their actions are predetermined. However, this is a ridiculous stance to take as humans are
free to make moral choices, meaning they are entirely responsible for their evil actions.

Pacific Ocean Waste Management
In the Pacific Ocean, there is an island made completely out of garbage. It is so big that it is called the
Great Pacific Ocean Patch. Scientists even found that nine percent of the island is made up of dead
fish. The patch weighs about seven million tons, which means that there are 630,000 tons of fish on
that one island of garbage. Scientists also say that the patch could possibly double within the next ten
years. The patch is estimated to be the size of Texas to twice the size of the continental United States
(Moore). This issue needs to be resolved quickly and efficiently. One way to resolve it is to improve
the level of waste management used across the world. Waste management is a solution to all kinds of
pollution. The level of waste management in the United States and around the world is unacceptably

The Blind Side
My movie review is over The Blind Side The Blind Side is based on the true story of Baltimore
Ravens offensive tackle Michael Oher. The movie starts out at a Memphis high school football game.
The offensive tackle Michael is having trouble protecting his quarterback. Early scenes at Wingate
Christian High School depict Michael as uncomfortable and intimidated in his new, mostly white
surroundings. One teacher describes him as a fly in the milk. Oher never says much, most of his
expressions portrayed through mopey, facial gestures. Leigh Anne (Sandra Bullock) and Sean (Tim
Mcgraw) first spot Michael in the school gym after one of Collins s volleyball games, and on the drive
home figure out that, even though he attends this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That turns into weeks. Before you know it this impulsive act of generosity turns into a project, to
which Leigh Anne devotes herself. Michael came from the projects living amongst drug dealers, and
pushers. Michaels real mother whom is addicted to drugs appears just briefly only to make his life a
living hell, filled with violence, dysfunction and despair. Lee Anne and her husband Sean petition the
courts to adopt Michael as their own providing him with safety, comfort and a happy loving home.
The Tuohy s hire a private tutor to help Oher with his academic troubles. Once getting good enough
grades to make the football team, Oher has trouble adjusting to the brutality of the sport. It s not until
Lee Anne compares protecting his quarterback to the affection he feels for his new family that Oher
finally understands his purpose on the field. The word gets out about Oher eventually when a top
scout is sent a DVD of his skills. Suddenly, major college coaches flock to recruit him. The only
problem is Oher is failing English, which makes him academically ineligible to receive a football
scholarship. It s not Sean The Charge of the Light Brigade that Oher learns about courage, honor and
ultimately passes another difficult test, his final English

The Negative Aspects Of Social Media
A picture is worth their pride. A picture is worth their self esteem. A picture is worth their dignity.
Social media networking has become a large part of today s society. Media applications such as
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat are rising in popularity, not only amongst teens, but adults
as well. According to Pew Research Center, in 2015, 65% of American adults now use social
networking sites up from 7% back in 2005 (Perrin). Bringing people from all over the world together,
social media sites have made it easier for people to communicate and interact on all different levels.
Controversy still arises among the negative aspects of social media apps and how its usage affects
people, particularly young adolescents. Sociological and psychological literature on the phenomenon
of media effects has shown that exposure to media depictions of the thin ideal can have damaging
effects for women (Groesz, et al 1 16). The ease of access to thousands of pictures that have been
photoshopped, edited and altered, tweets and Facebook posts makes it hard for young adolescents to
distinguish reality from fiction. They seek validation and want to be liked, so they don t have to go
further than the tip of their fingers to get this as they scroll the pages of Instagram and Facebook. In a
Huffington Post article, by Jill P. Weber, she stated, Girls turn to these sites to figure out who they are,
what they should look like, who they should try to be and how they can make themselves

Tweeter Case Study
Tweeter
Case Questions
1. Objectively and subjectively, is Tweeter price competitive? Why or why not?
Tweeter is an electronics store that pride itself on selling middle and high end goods. To see if they
were price competitive, we would have to evaluate them with similar stores like Cambridge sounds
waves as opposed to Walmart. Before APP in 1993, it would not have been possible to evaluate
Tweeter s price competitiveness since there was no systematic benchmarking present. However with
the APP, objectively, I think that Tweeter did try to price their goods competitively with other similar
goods. The APP strategy showed that their prices were competitive even in comparison with cost
leader competitors like Lechmere. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Customers now perceive Tweeter as expensive but not more than its other competitors. By changing
the marketing mix and including the buyer guide, it tells the customers who are interested in high
quality, the features of the products and ensures them that they are taking a calculated decision. These
customers who are particular about the product now appreciate Tweeter s efforts to provide technical
advice and provide fair advices about the product through the guide.
Doing all these helps change the customer s perception of Tweeter of being expensive, it is trying to
convey to customers that their price on the high quality goods are matched to its other competitors. Its
unique selling proposition of high quality and customer service is embedded in the minds of its
customers and that s how they are differentiating themselves from the other retailers. I think overall,
their new marketing strategy really fits well and targets their niche market of Quality/Service
customer. Such customers are interested in premium products yet concern about price and I think
Tweeter s marketing message and marketing mix really targets those customers.
I also think that the buyer s guide is Tweeter s great way of establishing itself as the tech go to and
standard for tech products, similar to Kelly s blue book for cars. Also, the buyers guide is a great way
to establish brand image and relationship between its customers and

Christianity And Buddhism Vs. Buddhism
Many, especially in New Mexico, are familiar with the teaching and conditions of Christianity,
beginning the creation of the Heaven and Earth, and coming to an end with the death of Jesus, these
teachings are taught weekly through Mass. Buddhism is not a commonly know, again, especially in
New Mexico. Buddhism teaches on a more personal level, leaving more supernatural beings to
Christianity. However, there are similarities to be discussed. Some include, the decisions as to what is
right and what is wrong, also both religions seem to form a coherent idea as to what actions are
appropriate for wrong doing. Christianity and Buddhism are mostly similar because there seem to be
an agreement on what restricts an individual to reach an enlightened phase of life, each religion also
asks followers to live a life based on doctrines believed to lead to a promised afterlife, finally, bother
religions speak of this promised afterlife to be an otherworldly experience if all ways of life are truly
good.
Any laws set by both religions are meant to be followed, if broken, it may mean termination from
consideration to an eternal afterlife or nirvana. Both religions show similar laws, which they consider
to be unbreakable. Christians are asked to life a perfect life in the eyes of God, an imperfect life is one
filled with lie, repealing words, acts of adultery, and many more (Bilhartz 530 531). Christianity does
not make it a challenge for believers to find what actions go against the word

Emily Prokott Essay
New York Times is proud to announce the very first device that is able to turn sound waves from a
human s brain into music. The creator of this invention goes by the name of Emily Prokott.
Ms. Prokott grew up in the countryside of Little Falls Minnesota, where her parents Chris and Jodi
Prokott raised Emily and her siblings Carly and Cole.
As parents Chris and Jodi taught them how to pursue their dreams by doing things they absolutely
love.
Learning from their examples, Emily did just that. Throughout school, from kindergarten to 12th
grade, she fell in love with music as well as creating it.
Her goal as a child was to receive the John Philip Sousa Award that is given to an outstanding senior
member of the band each year at Royalton High ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her task in this group was to come up with a way to make the school a better place for the students
and then pursue that plan.
Shortly after this assignment on August 3rd, 2018 she started her very first brainstorming that resulted
in the idea of creating a one of a kind device that translated sound waves from the brain into music.
Emily was convinced this unique device would earn her way to the John Philip Sousa Award.
From here on out this amazing creator never gave up. About a month later on September 3rd Ms.
Prokott had her first blueprint of the device.
She created a replica of a headband which would read the waves given off from the human brain and
transfer them to a speaker box where they would be turned into music. The person wearing the
headband could think of a song and that song would then be transferred to the wireless speaker and
projected for anyone else to hear.
Ms. Prokott, a brilliant young inventor was noticed by Ellen Degeneres and invited to her show to
share her wonderful creation with others. This opportunity to share her amazing device was one that
she could not pass up, and found very

(1.) The ride sharing service, Uber, is a successful and disruptive service in the car service industry;
however, the business model creates a dynamic situation for individual Uber drivers. According to
Bales and Woo (2017), Uber drivers are independent contractors who do not receive the same benefits
as taxi drivers, including protection from individual liability. While debate exists between the drivers
and Uber over the employee or contractor classification, Uber asserts that the legal obligations fall
upon drivers due to the freedom associated with drivers work hours. Due to the risks of liability from
vehicle incidents, Akalp (2015) recommends that Uber drivers set up a limited liability corporation in
order to protect drivers from losing personal assets in the event of being sued in contractual disputes.

is gained from the Tellico Dam case, which is the paradigm between business, government, and
society. For example, Plater (2013) describes the media coverage surrounding the Tellico Dam case as
an important factor in the outcome. The media focused on the impact to the snail darter and neglected
the impact to the local community in the event the dam was not completed. However, the main failure
lay at the feet of the TVA because the organization failed to address the concerns of society. TVA
should have consulted with the community and environmentalists about the impacts of the dam s
construction, thus creating a dialog with the community and providing realistic strategies to mitigate

the fourth most prevalent cause of death after heart disease, cancer, and stroke (AD a guide for
families). Most common in adults 65 or older, Alzheimer s disease (AD) is regarded as a loss of
intellectual abilities sufficient enough to interfere with everyday social and occupational functioning
(AD a guide for families). Victims of AD are unable to think abstractly, find similarities and

Some physicians also prescribe high doses of vitamin E for cognitive changes. The most common
treatments today are cholinesterase inhibitors (FDA approved drug), memantine (FDA approved drug),
vitamin E, and many alternative herbal treatments including caprylic acid, coconut oil, and coral
calcium. With all of the treatments out there though, it is difficult to discern which is the best one. The
purpose of this paper is to compare and contrast the different treatments available today in order to
find the best line of treatment for AD. In order to do so, we will be looking at the efficacy, side effects,
cost effectiveness, availability, dosage, and those most likely to benefit from each treatment. Before
we can look at these treatments, however, we must first look at how the brain communicates in order
to understand how these treatment work. The brain is made up of a network of nerve cells, or neurons,
that communicate with each other through electrical impulses. These neurons communicate at
synapses, or where two neurons meet. At the synapses, small bursts of chemicals called
neurotransmitters carry information from one cell to another. AD disrupts this process, damaging the
brain s communication network by destroying synapses and killing neurons

Eternal Fidelity Quotes
Independent Study Unit Update #1:
Love in the Time of Cholera The author s purpose: The author Gabriel Marquez conveys through Love
In The Time of Cholera, lovesickness is an illness, a plague that is comparable to Cholera. Gabriel
conveys this using the main characters eternal fidelity, love leading to physical suffering and
emotional emptiness. Eternal Fidelity:
One of the main character Floretino Ariza has eternal love for the other main character Fermina Doza.
Florentino s undying love Fermina can be seen as obsessive and psychotic at times due to their
forbidden relationship ending suddenly. Form:
Florentino has waited over 51 years to declare his undying love for Fermina. Florentino did not care if
Fermina s husband has just passed away, he is already to save Fermina s heart. This can prove irony in
this novel due to Florentino showing up just in time of this sudden death to re unite with his one, true

Difference Between Knowledge And Shared Knowledge
The knowledge system of a society can be divided into two bodies of knowledge, shared and personal
knowledge. Shared knowledge is a knowledge that shared and group of individuals it is also
continually being contributed creating new forms of knowledge. While personal knowledge is
knowledge that someone gains through the own experiences and research. Now in the natural sciences
a scientist can further their personal knowledge through shared knowledge in how they can learn and
further improve their experiments by learning from those who have performed similar ones. Now
there are other instances such as with history. When you use primary sources, you are using personal
knowledge firsthand accounts of an event. Personal knowledge is then shared to provide collective
knowledge demonstrating that through personal knowledge one can further shared knowledge and
vice versa. This all leads to the question How does the interaction between shared and personal
knowledge allow for human progress? In history, there have been instances in which an individual s
own personal knowledge has been completely rejected to preserve the current shared knowledge.
Moments in history such as when martin Luther wrote his ninety five theses Luther penned a
document attacking the Catholic Church s corrupt practice of selling indulgences to absolve sin. His
95 Theses, (ap achiver). Which propounded two central beliefs that the Bible is the central religious
authority and that humans may reach

My Story Short Story
My story Beginnings First of all I was born in Peoria, IL November 11, 2004 we have 6 people in my
family, my brother Michael my two sisters Erica and Rebecca and my parents Mike and Judy. I have a
funny story when my brother michael was born, my dad drove down a one way street. Anyway back
to my story growing up I loved baseball and any sports I could play really. I was really active as a
child and would get my hands on anything I could even If that means pulling a 100 dollar bill out of
my mom s purse. Growing up I didn t really like school that much I really just wanted to explore or
play. But I am really glad I went to kindergarten because if I didn t I wouldn t of met a lot of my
friends. But then came 1st grade I didn t really expect 1st grade to be fun but surprising it really was.
2nd and 3rd grade was probably the most fun. Because we got to do a to of parties and it was super
fun. And even in 4th grade we go to do a pilgrim experience which was really fun. We got to bring our
own snacks which was awesome but the only thing that was not good was for the boys we had to wear
a dress up shirt which was really hot in the room. And another awesome thing we got to do in grade
school was go on really cool field trips. Like tanners orchard and lincoln s old house. But from 4th
grade to 5th grade was really weird because there was a bunch of people who I didn t know. And for

Reflection On Quality And Safety
QUALITY AND SAFETY: REFLECTION.
QUALITY AND SAFETY: DEVELOPMENT OF PROFESSIONAL DEFINITION.
The WGU nursing program helped me in developing my professional definition of quality and safety
by enlightening my understanding of root cause analysis, and system failures. The IHI course was an
eye opener in my understanding of quality improvement, and the processes required to enhance safety
and quality improvement. The courses that really assisted me in my definition include, the
Organizational Systems and Quality Leadership, the Leadership and Professional Image, and
Professional Roles and Values; and the Evidence Based Practice and Applied Nursing Research.
QUALITY AND SAFETY: ARTIFACT SUPPORT.
My papers from the leadership learning experience task, and organizational systems and quality
leadership task 2 are some of the artifacts that I have included in this portfolio to support my
definition of quality and safety.
QUALITY AND SAFETY: ARTIFACTS SUPPORTING DEFINITION.
My paper from leadership learning experience task, supports my definition of safety and quality by
demonstrating how I proposed project that would enhance the safety and quality of my clients who
were at risk of developing pressure ulcers. On the other hand, my paper from the organizational
systems and quality leadership task 2 support my definition of safety and quality by demonstrating my
capacity to coordinate root cause analysis, and designing projects that would enhance safety and
quality by correctly identified system failures.
QUALITY AND SAFETY: IMPORTANCE OF IHI CERTIFICATE.
My Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) certificate is an artifact that supports my capacity in
safety and quality improvement in healthcare. This course enlightened on my role as nurses in
enhancing safety and quality in my workplace. I have already proposed the need in including staff
nurses in the quality improvement committee to my employer. I believe I will be among the staff
nurses who will be sitting in the committee, and I am going to take the role of an informal leader and a
change agent in that committee. As an informal leader and a change agent, I will devote my energy in
refocusing the thinking of my colleagues, so that they are able to visualize

Maslow s Theory Of Motivation
NEED THEORIES Need theories describes motivation as the willingness to exert high levels of effort
toward organisational goals, conditioned by the effort s ability to satisfy some individual need In this
context, a need is an internal state that cause a specific result to look pleasant. An individual s drives
are stimulated when tension is created due to an unsatisfied need. A search behaviour is generated to
locate specific goals, if this is obtained, the need will be satisfied and the tension will be reduced.
Needs could be said to physiological or psychological deficiencies that stimulate behaviour. This
differ with time and place, as environmental factors can influence it and make strong or weak. Maslow

If employers fail to do this, this could lead to a theoretically increase in the frustration of employees
and performance levels will reduce, job satisfaction level could also reduce and withdrawal from the
organisation could increase. For example, relating job insecurity to this theory, if an employee feels
any threat of layoff, this can hinder the individual from their higher growth needs. This could lead
them to push harder in acquiring job security but neglecting to fulfil their other needs. If at the end,
job security isn t attained, an employee might try to fulfil their needs somewhere else or burn out.
Alderfer s ERG model The theory of Clayton P. Alderfer s ERG from 1969 compresses Maslow s five
human needs in three division: Existence Needs: this involves all material and physiological
aspiration. (e.g house, food, water, air, safety, physical affection and love). This is similar to Maslow s
first two levels. Relatedness Needs: to be accepted, identified and feel safe with a group and family.
This correlate with the third and fourth levels of Maslow s hierarchy. Growth Needs: self actualisation
and self esteem; this compels an individual to make ingenious and productive change to
himself/herself and the surrounding. This is similar to that of Maslow s fourth and fifth levels.
Relationships between the concepts There are three relationships among the

Victorian Era In The Victorian Era
As I began my journey through this research project I knew I wanted to focus on England, as it is one
of the oldest counties and has such an intriguing story. With a history filled with rises and falls in
laced with power and corruption and flourishing fueled by the industrial revolution, England is a
legend in itself. Riddled with rolling hills and intricate underlying structures that make England s
geographical map look more like the work of a craftful painter. (England) As I peeled back the many
layers of English history I found myself entranced by the Victorian Era. Its namesake Queen Victoria,
known for bring respect and honor back to the royal family. This was founded upon one of the earliest
constitutional monarchs in the world, that is still in place today. The Victorian era had a very harsh and
unforgiving economy that led to poverty flooding throughout the country, and a hate for immigrants
rising. The lives of the people were influenced heavily by the church and controlled almost all of their
daily lives. (Victorian era England Life of Victorians) Looking throughout the many years of the
Victorian era, one year stuck out to me as a very important time for England. This year was 1888, in
the wake of the industrial revolution big business thrived while poverty was at an all time high and the
country was in fear due to the Jack the Ripper murders. (White) Through these two events arised a
whole new kind of journalism, called new journalism . (Schlack)

Science Fiction Disaster Thriller Film, Directed By...
Armageddon is a 1998 American science fiction disaster thriller film, directed by Michael Bay,
produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. The film follows a group of professional deep core drillers who are
sent by NASA to eliminate an enormous asteroid before it collides with earth and threatens human
existence. Early in the film, it presented a series of events, beginning with a massive meteor shower
that ultimately destroys the orbiting space shuttle Atlantis. Later NASA reveals the sad news that
planet earth will make contact with this asteroid in eighteen days to the point it will cause an
extinction event and even destroy the smallest particles including bacteria. This calls for extremes
measures to prevent such collision and save the human race. Armageddon (1998) is a great example of
how films can help viewers understand the world of work and of organization function. Armageddon
(1998) covered different I/O related constructs for example personnel selection, teams, leadership,
individual differences, and performance. In this paper, I will evaluate, analyze and present my own
personal opinion over how Armageddon (1998) presented I/O constructs effectively. The first I/O
related construct that the film analyzed was the importance of individual differences. The film
demonstrated the dissimilarities among the characters on set and their role that they had to portray,
personality, interest, physical ability and cognitive ability affect the outcome. Having the proper

Descriptive Essay On Open Mic Night
We roam around the swamped streets of New York, arms numb from attaching hundreds of posters
onto different buildings. Initially, we had planned to tape them only against the windows of random
grocery stores and other small businesses. It was my best friend, Fionn, however, who suggested that
sticking them on the lamp posts in the park, would also be a great idea. I obviously complied, wanting
to make sure there isn t a single area left untouched. Earlier this morning, my friend, Mitch, requested
a small favor from me. He said that if it isn t a hassle at all, he d appreciate it if I strolled through the
city while spreading the posters he created. They advertised the open mic night he s hosting, and the
time everyone is expected to be present at. He would have done it himself, but he was preoccupied
with the bar making sure it was spotless and ready for tomorrow. Every month, Mitch hosts an open
mic night at the bar. It s the most anticipated event in our small town often causing the bar to reach its
maximum capacity in under an hour. Many people, including myself, look forward to attending. It s
astonishing to witness how the bar instantly transforms from a place where people get blackout drunk,
to a place where anyone can stumble in and find a safe heaven. On this particular night, locals are
given an opportunity to share their passion with the world. And I ve been fortunate enough to see it all

experiential learning theory, student learning styles and learning space in this report. Experiential
learning theory have six propositions: Learning is best conceived as a process, not in terms of
outcomes ; All learning is relearning ; Learning requires the resolution of conflicts between
dialectically opposed modes of adaptation to the world ; Learning is a holistic process of adaptation to
the world ; Learning results from synergetic transactions between the person and the environment ;
and Learning is the process of creating knowledge . This report also point out four basic learning

into the behaviors which combines position, region, locomotion, equilibrium of forces, positive and

  • 3. The Los Angeles County Museum Of Art For my enrichment report, I decided to take a trip to the Los Angeles County Museum. However, I was trapped with the challenging choice of choosing only one museum for my cultural visit. Since, there are so many prodigious and amazing museums to choose from to visit in the county. But, I have heard many great feedbacks about the Los Angeles County Museum of Art from fellow classes mates, friends and family. So, I finally, had my destination set to and planned a visit to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Upon my visit my attention was already fixated on the unique building layout and the many arts exhibited located all around the outside of the museum building. There were several building that housed the many different art exhibits. Such as the first building I walked into, after purchasing a ticket. This building was called the Ahmanson building, which housed voluminous and diverse art of the European, Islamic, South and Southeast Asian Art, Art of the Ancient World, Art of the Pacific and Others. There were also many special exhibitions that was hosted at the time of my visit, such as the modern art gallery and Rifkin Gallery for German Expressionism. One of the sculpture centered in the middle of the building of the Ahmanson building called Smoke really caught my attention. As it quite an enigmatic and stunning metal sculpture that mesmerizes illusions based on your interpretation and perspective of the piece. Granted, there were defiantly a lot of sensational ... • 4. Retrospective Analysis Anthropology Anthropological analyses always starts with a question, and, in regards to Mythology, majority of the questions are asked in retrospect. This retrospective analysis is a very scientific and alienating way of approaching myth a cultural component who s roots are planted in a deeply social and emotional practices. Years of inquiry and speculation have resulted in anthropologists coming up with numerous methodologies and practices to explain exactly how one needs to approach the study of myth thats best reveals its function. Most of the methods are broken down and explained in a series of steps, much like a lab experiment as if the only way for anthropologists to write about cultural phenomena is to abstract themselves from myth s present ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Right away this assertion distances Malinowski and the culture he belongs to from myth. His method of studying myth is more complex than Rooth s. Rooth s paper presents and breaks down all variations of the creation myth in North America. After laying out the eight different types of the creation myth, Rooth concludes, myth has geographical boundaries . Malinowski tries to justify his claim that myth can help us understand the behaviors and customs of the people who tell them. Right at the beginning of his essay he makes a comparison that puts forth the idea that when a society becomes civilized and more developed, religion usurps mythology: this myth is to the savage what, to a fully believing Christian, is the Biblical story of Creation... (Malinowski). Malinowski refers to primitive cultures as savage because they think about myth in religious terms. He tries to separate from mythology by calling myth a pragmatic charter and by dwelling mentally for sometime among people of much simpler culture than our own, we maybe able to see ourselves from a distance (Malinowski). Calling myth charter he imposes the socioeconomic concerns of Europe at the time on primitive myth and implies that it can only exist to validate custom and institution myth for Malinowski will always state a ... • 5. Individuals Bulimia Nervosa As An Oedipal Condition individuals bulimia nervosa can be conceptualized as an oedipal condition, in which individuals use food to express and manage threatening feelings associated with the drama of oedipal desire and rivalry. The rapid cycling of over control and loss of control eating in bulimia nervosa can be viewed as a symbolic representation of conflict related to disavowed oedipal desires. In bingeing episodes, food is something that is desirous, almost enticing to the point that it is consumed beyond satiation. In restricting episodes, food is repugnant to the bulimic patient, something to be avoided and restricted at all costs. Interpersonally, bulimic patients who are fixated at an oedipal stage of development are likely to relate to others in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The oedipal bulimic patient clearly experiences a wish to triumph over the mother by becoming thinner and thus more desirable. However, the bulimic woman appears to sabotage her own ambitions for thinness. This is likely an expression of castration anxiety or rather fear of retaliation by the maternal object. This anxiety is expressed in ambivalent feelings about the body. Conceptually, this hypothesis seems to have support from empirical research demonstrating that most eating disorders surface during adolescence, a period of tremendous growth and development (Ringer Crittenden, 2007). Most threatening to women with bulimia, physical and sexual maturation forces young girls to deal with the reality of growing into a sexually mature being, which may induce feelings of guilt and fear of mother s disapproval. By frequently regurgitating meals, bulimic women are able to resist or at minimum have greater control over their development. Yet, unlike anoretic women, bulimic women are clearly conflicted about their bodies. The anoretic patient prizes her emaciated physical state which presents her as child like and less feminine. The bulimic patient appears more conflicted about her body as part of her welcomes the opportunity to compete for father s attention. For young women with bulimia, the changing nature of her body is both terrifying and exciting. Intrapsychically, individuals fixated at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Critical Reasoning And Battle Analysis Of Fort Wagner Critical Reasoning and Battle Analysis of Fort Wagner The purpose of this narrative is to detail the battle of Fort Wagner during the Civil War. This focus explains the defeat of Union forces and how the implementation of intelligence assets may have resulted in Union victory. The use of reconnaissance and scout assets by Union forces would have resulted in the success of the Union Army at Fort Wagner. Fort Wagner was a key stronghold for Confederate forces, securing the Charleston Harbor and protecting passage to the Rebel birthplace and Confederate capital of Charleston, South Carolina. Union regiments stormed the beaches of Morris Island on 10 July 1863 with the intention of assuming control over Fort Wagner. The Confederate forces fortified the camp with artillery and mortars, thwarting the Union Regiments advances. The use of intelligence assets would have revealed the Confederate Army s disposition, allowing the Union Army to refine their attack strategy and conclude with the success of the Union. The Battle of Fort Wagner Battle Overview The battle of Fort Wagner took place in July of 1863 on Morris Island in Charleston, South Carolina. The battle commenced on 10 July 1863 and concluded on 18 July 1863 with the defeat of the Union Regiments. • 8. Examples Of Stereotypes In Beauty And The Beast Beauty and the Beast How much does one s judgement affect their view of someone, from strangers to close relatives? Stereotypes and stigmas are attached to everyone and everything. The first thought that an individual may affiliate with when seeing Beauty and the Beast is Disney. Beauty and the Beast by Beaumont was created with a twist that doesn t have the fairy tale touch you usually see in a Disney movie. Although this short story may have its similarities to Disney s rendition, The Beauty and the Beast is far from being the same. This story, Beauty and the Beast , shows readers that your first thought to an idea may not be the right one. One must look deeper into an idea to find the true intentions of it; it gives a deeper look into morals. In continuation, there are various parts throughout the story where the main idea keeps being introduced. For example, when Beast is first introduced he is portrayed as an irrational monster for threatening the father with death over a flower. In reality, he isn t the antagonist here because the Beast accommodated the father and without hesitation made him his guest. He had already given him much of his hospitality, so he felt disrespected that the father, on his way out, would still be in need of more. Another example that supports this main idea is when Beauty initially arrives to the castle and is automatically intimidated by the Beast and its looks. For example, when analyzing the text, her fears are expressed by her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The World s Greatest Satirist The World s Greatest Satirist James Thurber is a satirist. Satire is the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people s stupidity or vices. It is also deliberate. His writing is full of common sense, humor, and irony. The characters in his stories work extra hard to end up using simple solutions. The diction in all his stories is very clear and simple. His writing is meant for everyone in every class and every age group. The style and content of his stories make them timeless and relatable to anyone, even the people about whom he is making fun. Richard Tobias has the best description of Thurber s humoristic displays. Tobias says: Thurber s comedy, like any successful comedy, displays variations on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also, his first wife, much like his mother, was a nut case. His father was a meek man who let his wife run amok despite knowing she was a loose cannon. These characters in his life influence and epitomize the characters in his stories. Thurber writes about decisions in life, and while he may be using bunnies and wolves to make the examples, the realities he portrays most are revenge, materialism, and cowardice. To externalize Thurber s inner discomposure toward women, he tends to use his pieces to ridicule the fairer sex. His fiction imitates his life, and his life was filled with scorn and contempt for the path to which he was pinned. Thurber also writes quite a bit about morals. In all the following stories the moral is a variation of: Go with you first instinct. Unicorn in the Garden is a story about a woman with contempt for her excitable husband. • 10. Contribution Margins for Lewis Company Contribution Margins for Lewis Company Lewis Company has been using absorption costing to assess the cost of the modules they manufacture. The use of a variable income statement may allow the firm to make better decision regarding pricing as it will allow for increased transparency and easier calculation of the number of units which will need to be solid to break even. The first stage is to convert the income statement into a contribution statement. Contribution Statements To prepare the contribution margin statement it is necessary to assess which costs are variable and which are fixed. The variable costs are those which are incurred as each unit is produced, varying with the production levels, while the fixed costs remain the same regardless of the level of production (Bragg, 2012). The foundation of contribution costing is to deduct the variable costs from the revenue that is realized for each unit sold, this is known as the contribution as it is this surplus of revenue after variable costs will contribute towards the fixed costs, and then provide for the profit (Drury, 2006; Watts, 2004). The absorption statement may be converted into a contrition statement as shown in table 1. Table SEQ Table * ARABIC 1; Contribution income statement for Lewis (at $300 per unit) Revenue 2,700,000 Direct materials 1,080,000 Direct labor 540,000 Variable overhead 360,000 Variable selling and admin 90,000 Total variable costs 2,070,000 Total contribution ... It is the most devastating and widespread disease of grapevine in the world and causes the significant loss to grape yield and quality (Gadoury et al. 2012). This is the major grape vine disease causing significant yield reduction each year in California, which is the top grape producing state in the United States (Gubler et al. 1999). This disease infect all the commercially grown grape species, but the susceptibility differs with cultivars. This disease first produces a chlorotic spot on the upper surface of leaf and the chorotic spot produces whitish gray powdery fungal growth on the upper surface of the leaf and other infected plant parts. A Critique on The Sociopath Next Door Down the street, in our workplaces, seemingly under our beds Harvard Medical Professor Martha Stout s Sociopath Next Door: The Ruthless vs. The Rest of Us sends the reader into a state of frightful paranoia when she mentions that a staggering 1 in 25, 4%, persons is, in fact, a sociopath. A sociopath, as Stout asserts, is a person with the lack of a conscience, thus a person not concerned with the suffering of others, to worry only about itself. She goes on to tell us that, because the rate of sociopaths in our society is so high, we must have already met hundreds without knowing it, due to the elusive and enigmatic nature of this psychological disease. However, a rational thinker can clearly see the flaws in the conceptions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moving on, any skeptic reading this book would surely have a plethora of questions for the professor. How, exactly, does one come up with the statistic of 1/25 in regards to the ratio of sociopaths to normal people? This question is rather baffling because, in the book, Stout states that there are many sociopaths which feign emotion for the sole purpose of progressing in life. How, then, do these people, faking a conscious, admit themselves to being a full fledged sociopath when they have been lying to themselves and others around them for the bulk of their lives? Stout either did not factor these individuals into her statistical evaluation, which would mean a great number more of sociopaths than perceived through this book, or that Stout, with this knowledge, made a conjecture. In any case, especially in the latter, this statistic cannot be trusted and should therefore not be taken as hard fact. Another gaping problem in this book is the lack of perspective provided by Stout in regards to a true sociopath, one that admits they have not remorse, no conscience; one who only wants to win. It would have been an eye opening experience to truly view the world through the eyes of a sociopath, which could have been accomplished through the course of a simple question and answer style interview. While this book is clearly not perfect, it does have its redeeming qualities. The simple ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many did not believe this notion of discovery and thought of it as more of a political stunt. Though in disbelief, a storekeeper by the name of Sam Brannan set of a frenzy when he displayed through town a vial of gold attained from Sutter s Creek. This made people believe in the discovery and no later than mid June, roughly three fourths of the male population of San Francisco had left to the gold mines for their portion. • 30. Difference Between Knowledge And Shared Knowledge The knowledge system of a society can be divided into two bodies of knowledge, shared and personal knowledge. Shared knowledge is a knowledge that shared and group of individuals it is also continually being contributed creating new forms of knowledge. While personal knowledge is knowledge that someone gains through the own experiences and research. Now in the natural sciences a scientist can further their personal knowledge through shared knowledge in how they can learn and further improve their experiments by learning from those who have performed similar ones. Now there are other instances such as with history. When you use primary sources, you are using personal knowledge firsthand accounts of an event. Personal knowledge is then shared to provide collective knowledge demonstrating that through personal knowledge one can further shared knowledge and vice versa. This all leads to the question How does the interaction between shared and personal knowledge allow for human progress? In history, there have been instances in which an individual s own personal knowledge has been completely rejected to preserve the current shared knowledge. Moments in history such as when martin Luther wrote his ninety five theses Luther penned a document attacking the Catholic Church s corrupt practice of selling indulgences to absolve sin. His 95 Theses, (ap achiver). Which propounded two central beliefs that the Bible is the central religious authority and that humans may reach ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The courses that really assisted me in my definition include, the Organizational Systems and Quality Leadership, the Leadership and Professional Image, and Professional Roles and Values; and the Evidence Based Practice and Applied Nursing Research. QUALITY AND SAFETY: ARTIFACT SUPPORT. My papers from the leadership learning experience task, and organizational systems and quality leadership task 2 are some of the artifacts that I have included in this portfolio to support my definition of quality and safety. • 33. Maslow s Theory Of Motivation NEED THEORIES Need theories describes motivation as the willingness to exert high levels of effort toward organisational goals, conditioned by the effort s ability to satisfy some individual need In this context, a need is an internal state that cause a specific result to look pleasant. An individual s drives are stimulated when tension is created due to an unsatisfied need. A search behaviour is generated to locate specific goals, if this is obtained, the need will be satisfied and the tension will be reduced. Needs could be said to physiological or psychological deficiencies that stimulate behaviour. This differ with time and place, as environmental factors can influence it and make strong or weak. If employers fail to do this, this could lead to a theoretically increase in the frustration of employees and performance levels will reduce, job satisfaction level could also reduce and withdrawal from the organisation could increase. For example, relating job insecurity to this theory, if an employee feels any threat of layoff, this can hinder the individual from their higher growth needs. This could lead them to push harder in acquiring job security but neglecting to fulfil their other needs. If at the end, job security isn t attained, an employee might try to fulfil their needs somewhere else or burn out. Alderfer s ERG model The theory of Clayton P. Alderfer s ERG from 1969 compresses Maslow s five human needs in three division: Existence Needs: this involves all material and physiological aspiration. (e.g house, food, water, air, safety, physical affection and love). This is similar to Maslow s first two levels. Relatedness Needs: to be accepted, identified and feel safe with a group and family. This correlate with the third and fourth levels of Maslow s hierarchy. Growth Needs: self actualisation and self esteem; this compels an individual to make ingenious and productive change to himself/herself and the surrounding. This is similar to that of Maslow s fourth and fifth levels. Relationships between the concepts There are three relationships among the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Victorian Era In The Victorian Era As I began my journey through this research project I knew I wanted to focus on England, as it is one of the oldest counties and has such an intriguing story. With a history filled with rises and falls in laced with power and corruption and flourishing fueled by the industrial revolution, England is a legend in itself. Riddled with rolling hills and intricate underlying structures that make England s geographical map look more like the work of a craftful painter. (England) As I peeled back the many layers of English history I found myself entranced by the Victorian Era. Its namesake Queen Victoria, known for bring respect and honor back to the royal family. This was founded upon one of the earliest constitutional monarchs in the world, that is still in place today. The Victorian era had a very harsh and unforgiving economy that led to poverty flooding throughout the country, and a hate for immigrants rising. The lives of the people were influenced heavily by the church and controlled almost all of their daily lives. (Victorian era England Life of Victorians) Looking throughout the many years of the Victorian era, one year stuck out to me as a very important time for England. This year was 1888, in the wake of the industrial revolution big business thrived while poverty was at an all time high and the country was in fear due to the Jack the Ripper murders. • 36. Descriptive Essay On Open Mic Night We roam around the swamped streets of New York, arms numb from attaching hundreds of posters onto different buildings. Initially, we had planned to tape them only against the windows of random grocery stores and other small businesses. It was my best friend, Fionn, however, who suggested that sticking them on the lamp posts in the park, would also be a great idea. I obviously complied, wanting to make sure there isn t a single area left untouched. Earlier this morning, my friend, Mitch, requested a small favor from me. He said that if it isn t a hassle at all, he d appreciate it if I strolled through the city while spreading the posters he created. They advertised the open mic night he s hosting, and the time everyone is expected to be present at. He would have done it himself, but he was preoccupied with the bar making sure it was spotless and ready for tomorrow. Every month, Mitch hosts an open mic night at the bar. It s the most anticipated event in our small town often causing the bar to reach its maximum capacity in under an hour. Many people, including myself, look forward to attending. It s astonishing to witness how the bar instantly transforms from a place where people get blackout drunk, to a place where anyone can stumble in and find a safe heaven. On this particular night, locals are given an opportunity to share their passion with the world. And I ve been fortunate enough to see it all from the emotional teenager reading their shitty poetry, to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Louie, answer me. What? he barked as he finally turned towards her. As he loomed over her, standing at the foot of their bed, buried in his cellphone, she got her first good look at him for the day. She took in his ragged demeanor; his dirty worn out clothes too large for his scrawny frame. Through a tear in his pants she could see a cut on his leg, no doubt attained by begging on the streets of St. Louis. She never saw him do it anymore but there was no doubt in her mind that he had kept that habit, among others. His disheveled black hair was covered by a grimy nondescript ... They define experiential learning theory, student learning styles and learning space in this report.
